Gregor Mendel s Theory Of Genetics
Introduction
Gregor Johann Mendel was a scientist, Augustinian friar and an abbot of St. Thomas Abbey in Brno,
Margraviate of Moravia. He was born on July 20, 1822 and died on January 6, 1884 at the age of 61.
He was Austrian and was the child of Anton and Rosine Mendel along with two other siblings. He
studied in the field of genetics at two universities and one institution and is known for creating the
science of genetics.
Early Life Gregor was born the middle child and the only son of Anton and Rosine Mendel. He lived
and worked on the family farm that had been family owned for generations. He worked in the garden
and studied beekeeping which contributed to his deep love for biological sciences. He received his

Some of these characteristics were the height of the plant, shape of the pod, shape of the seed, size and
color of the seeds. He cross pollinated the plants with different characteristics in order to study the
effects on the offspring. He also made sure to prevent accidental pollination by insects. He cultivated
thousands of pea plants throughout his experiments. He collected the seeds of the offspring and
examined them for changes or variations in color, shape, and size. He compared the plants for
differences in height. Over a period of eight years he examined and observed plants that would form
the basis for a deeper study of genetics. He presented the results of his experiments in 1865 at the
Natural History Society of Brno. In 1866 his findings were published in Experiments on Plant
Hybridization. His research failed to create an impact at that time. He was made abbot of the
monastery in 1868, where he had been teaching. The increase in responsibilities prevented him from
carrying out anymore scientific experiments. Gregor Mendel s experiments and information failed to
gain much attention and importance during his lifetime, but he did form the foundation for what is
now known as Mendel s Laws of Inheritance.
Accomplishments Gregor Mendel discovered the fundamental laws of inheritance by his work through
pea plants. He concluded that genes come

The Report Of A Burglary
On 02/05/2017 I was dispatched to 524 E. 30th Ave. North for the report of a burglary. When I arrived,
I noted the front of the house was facing south. The house was a single level, white in color with a tin
roof. The front of the house had a porch that also faced the south. When I pulled into the driveway,
two people were standing on the front porch. I walked up to the porch and the two individuals
identified themselves as the home owners. The male identified himself as Augustus Arterburn
05/07/1993, and the female identified herself as Isabella Cook 03/20/1993. Augustus said Isabella and
him left the house on 02/05/2017 at around 1300 hours, they went to Oklahoma and then to a super
bowl party. They returned to the house on 02/05/2017 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We then walked into the living room that was the next room to the south. Augustus pointed to a TV
stand that was sitting on the east wall. He said a 42 inch Emerson flat screen TV was sitting on the
stand. He described the TV as all black with metal legs used as the base. He also said a stack of 20
miscellaneous DVD s were taken on the TV stand. We then walked into the kitchen that was located to
the south of the living room. Augustus said when they left the house the pile of clothes that were on
the ground were directly in front of the back door. When they returned home the clothes were all
pushed up against the wall because the back door had been opened. The rear door to the house faced
the north and no lights were on. The rear door only locks with the door handle lock and was
undamaged. Augustus and Isabella said they had looked over the entire house and only the items listed
above were taken. Augustus said two other flat screen TV s were not taken and he had firearms in the
bedroom that were not tampered with. I asked Augustus if he owned the home or if he was renting, he
said they were renting and had just moved in. I asked him if he had the locks changed since they had
moved in, he said no. Augustus then told me he had the only two keys. I told him he had the only two
keys that he knew about, I then asked him if he knew the previous tenants name. He was able to

the organization. Culture is the fundamental set of assumptions, values and ways of doing things, that
is accepted by most at the company. Parts of an org s culture can be found embedded in their
information systems. If this changes and has a negative effect on the overall culture, much resistance
will be found. For example, my employer currently doesn t monitor email usage, but if they began to
do it many would feel untrusted and would resist the change. Politics within an organization is the
head of the conflict line. So many perspectives, conflicts and compromises are given when it comes to
information systems. As people in organizations occupy different positions at various levels and with

Build Up of Suspense in the movie Jaws Essay
Build Up of Suspense in the movie Jaws
The film Jaws has been directed and produced in 1975 by Steven Spielberg. It is about a police chief
that has been assigned to a hot resort on one of New England Coast s beaches. His job is to make sure
that the killer shark, which has already eaten a person in this area, does not have a chance to attack
again.
The film is set on the 4th of July because it is a national holiday in America The Independence Day.
Lots of people organise picnics, go for holidays etc. The New England Coast is an attraction to tourists
and many people visit it during their holidays. In the film the protagonist is chief Brody (Roy
Scheider). The secondary characters are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the attack and the disturbing music the dead silence came. This is to highlight the fact that the
girl has been killed in a very brutal and painful way and that nobody could help her, even if they
wanted to. It also tells the audience that the shark is creepy, awful and unstoppable. This shark
characterisation helped the director to build tension more effectively before the future attacks.
Just like silence, music can also be used to scare the audience. An example of this is the loudness of
the theme tune increasing as the shark is getting closer to its prey. It tells us that the attack is about to
begin and lets us know that the person attacked will die, we know that he or she could not survive as
previous victims had not survived.
In the second attack a lot of camera techniques have been used to help build tension and scare the
audience. The scene began with a straight, long shot of a 10 year old boy, Alex, going to his mother to
ask for more time in the water. The straight shot was used to show equality, to make the audience feel
as they are in the same place with all tourists on the beach. This did not build any tension because
nothing was going to happen at that point. The audience might wonder why so much time is spent
with Alex, why we are continously focused on him, not on any of the other boys this starts to build

Concept Of Autonomy In Nursing
The concept of autonomy is of keen interest to health care providers, patients, and the entire nursing
practice. The present drive of the heath care setting regularly requires a focused response in dealing
with different health issues daily. Thus, autonomy affords a room for healthcare providers including
nurses to use their judgments and to be apt in providing patient centered care. Through a literature
review, autonomy was examined as it relates to nursing, education, and science. A model case was
employed to determine nurses perception of autonomy and understand how they develop and exhibit
autonomy in their practice.
Concept Analysis of Autonomy
Autonomy provides the platform for self directed nurses to act consciously without pressure in the
implementation of their duties. Such roles demand the exercise of autonomy, a term which eludes
succinct definition despite the fact that the preparation of practitioners for these roles relies on a clear
understanding of its nature. This paper undertakes a concept analysis of autonomy, each step
illustrated with examples taken from clinical practice, with the ultimate aim of offering an operational
definition of autonomy. The concept of autonomy in the nursing profession is considered a requisite
for professional standing. Consequently, professional nurse autonomy is the belief in the entirety of
the client when making responsible optional decisions; which reflect advocacy for the client (Kramer
Schmalenberg, 1993).

Military Professionalism
Military Professionalism cannot be incontestably defined, unless it is phrased in terms of what it seeks
to address: the relationship between the civilian and military spheres and the traditions and skills
necessary to conduct effective exercises of power on behalf of the state. Thus, Military
Professionalism may be defined as any combination of behaviors, traits, values, and skills which lead
to an optimal outcome in these categories. Huntington and Janowitz differ insofar as they attempt to
describe different methods by which Military Professionalism is arrived at, though their core metrics
are similar insofar as they agree upon the existence of an optimal level of power for the military to
possess in relation to the civilian government. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, for Huntington, that is the entirety of the definition! To quote him directly, A highly
professional officer corps stands ready to carry out the wishes of any civilian group which secures
legitimate authority within the state. Huntington, of course, puts forward a substantial sub structure in
his defining of Military Professionalism which is not readily apparent in what seems to be such a
simple definition. In his principle work on civilian military relations, The Soldier and the State, he
puts forward a dichotomy of objective and subjective civilian control over the military, the former of
which represents simple voluntary and autonomous subservience to the objectives of the civilian
sphere, while the latter indicates a transmutation, and an integral weakening and altering of the
military readiness in an attempt to ensure the primacy of civilian power. Thus, Military
Professionalism as autonomous subservience fulfills the role of the optimal relation of military and
state by Huntington s

Dido Belle
Talented British helmer and former actress Amma Asante is deeply focused on the racial theme, taking
advantage of the overwhelming tension that envelops our world regarding this matter. If Belle (2013)
was a gracious period drama inspired by the 1779 Zoffany painting of Dido Belle, a mixed race
daughter of an 18th century aristocrat, A United Kingdom is a forgettable romantic biopic, set in 1940
s, about Sir Seretse Khama (David Oyelowo), prince of the Bamangwate tribe and natural candidate to
the throne of Botswana, and his factual romance with Ruth (Rosamund Pike), a common Londoner.
Disregarding every rule and sanction, the couple ended up married in London where Seretse was
finishing his studies. From then on, they embark on a persistent fight for their rights in many fronts,

Ms. Asante s formal filmmaking worked beautifully in Belle , but in the present case has the effect of
standardizing a story that is short of passion and adventure. Both direction and acting are too static
and apathetic, and the drama often drags itself without the essential dramatic side associated with the
true facts. The director s next move, entitled Where Hands Touch , is currently in post production and
features another romance between a mixed race German woman and an SS officer. I hope it can bring
something more to the topic than just a mere report of the

Avoiding Roof Repair In Salt Lake House
One of the joys of owning your own home is that you will never run out of things to do. From mowing
the lawn and raking to maintaining the furnace, your list of homeowner duties could be quite long.
With so much keeping you on your toes year round, you will probably want to find a way to avoid
unnecessary problems. For example, making repairs to your roof after it has been damaged by a tree.
If you want to avoid roof repair in Salt Lake City, UT, here are a few things to look out for if you have
a tree in your yard. Branches: Trees are known to have overhanging branches that are often a nuisance
to homeowners. If your home wasn t so important to you, you may not be bothered by this, but
branches pose a serious threat to your roof. Tree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may seem like there is little destruction that can be done by leaves, but this isn t exactly true. When
leaves fall from trees and start to pile up on your roof, they are trapping in moisture, which can come
from rain and snow. Over time, you could start to experience warping, leaks, rotting and weakened
support beams. Weight: If a tree were to fall on a house, the roof could easily be destroyed. When
trees are dead or diseased, they are unstable. This instability would make anyone worry about how
long the tree will last and how much damage would be caused if it were to fall. Depending on the
weight of the tree, there is a chance little damage will be caused, but there is no guaranteeing that no
damage will be done to your roof or your entire home. Pests: The trees near your home are actually
home to pests and insects. With the trees being so close to your home, these pests and insects can
easily make their way to your roof and cause damage. For example, raccoons, birds, termites and more
can eat your roof, loosen shingles and pretty much destroy your roof over time. To put a stop to this
and prevent easy access to your roof, any long, overhanging branches should be

The Steps Listed Describe The Procedures I Will
The steps listed describe the procedures I will use to implement book clubs:
1. Introduction Setting a purpose I will explain to students that our objective in book club for 7th will
be accountability. To illustrate, I will ask students about their literature circle experiences. Unlike
literature circles (which many students participated in during grades 3 5), no roles will be assigned but
everyone is responsible for the reciprocal reading strategies. These strategies will be on an anchor
chart to be displayed throughout the year. Next, I will show the brief YouTube video 8th Grade Book
Club and Accountable Talk and ask students to describe the behaviors observed. The video will
prompt a discussion about book club our upcoming discussions.
2. Pre reading activities
Set ground 3 5 ground rules. This will be a whole class endeavor, not a list developed solely by the
teacher. However, the rules should indicate that the book group is a safe environment (as is the entire
classroom) where everyone has a voice. Rules that alert students to be respectful, responsible and
agree to disagree are common suggestions. Allow students to make the book club ground rules chart to
display. Distribute and discuss the Responsibility and Accountability Rubric.
Teach teamwork and conflict resolution skills. Use notecards to describe scenarios that arise when
working in groups. Have students act out skits that demonstrate problems and possible solutions.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Lyndon B. Johnson s Speech The...
In Lyndon B. Johnson s speech The Great Society he is effective in showing that the society must
work to build and achieve a great society. He is effective in showing this by giving examples of how
to improve America by using rhetorical devices in his speech to create envisionments of the future in
the society. By doing this he is effective in his speech to motivate people to participate and help
develop this great society. In Lyndon B. Johnson s speech the language he uses shows that America
can be greatly improved to achieve a great society. A Great Society for the American people and their
fellow men elsewhere was the vision of Lyndon B. Johnson. Johnson is telling the citizens of America
that he envisions America to become a great society. He wants to work on the weaknesses so that the
American society can be fully developed and advanced in the quick developing world. The Great
Society program became Johnson s agenda for Congress in January 1965: aid to education, attack on

population to make them realize this. Men come together in cities in order to live, but they remain

Phantom And Twenty Thousand League Under The Sea Essay
The two books that I chose to read this summer were Phantom of the Opera and Twenty Thousand
Leagues under the Sea. In Phantom of the Opera, the main character being explored is The Phantom,
also known as, Erik. Erik was thin, had a skeleton frame, and was always dressed in dress clothes. He
made no noise and did not speak. He stalked the building like a shadow. Mysterious events started
occurring at the opera house, such as the death of Joseph Buquet, and Christine suddenly becoming a
musical prodigy. The Phantom offered peace with the managers of the opera house if they followed
some simple commands such as leaving monthly allowances for him. The managers ignored it because
they believed this was all a hoax. More incidents occur such as a ... Show more content on

Captain Nemo was a very mysterious character in the novel. He was a genius who had a passion for
the sea. He created a submarine, The Nautilus, that used technology far more advanced than anything
else of its time, in order to explore and to learn more about the oceans of the world. He was very
curious and willing to learn. In 1866, ships around the world were being attacked by an enormous
thing, faster and larger than a whale. It was larger, wider, and heavier than anything previously
recorded in the history of fish. A group of men, on a boat called the Abraham Lincoln, set out to
uncover this mystery. The ship collided with the thing and flew some men overboard, including
Conseil, Ned Land, and professor Pierre Aronnax. These men were using something to float on in the
water, and soon realized it was a submarine. Then, men with masks pulled them aboard. They were
told that they had freedom on the boat, but they were never allowed to leave. Captain Nemo invited
the men to go hunting, diving and exploring with him throughout the novel. Then, after 10 months
aboard, the men decided they needed to leave. After several failed attempts, they managed to escape

The Fifth Child by Doris Lessing
The Fifth Child is the masterpiece of Nobel Prize winner Doris Lessing. Lessing herself described it as
a horror story, but we can also put it into the genre of social psychological novels. She declared: I
hated writing it. It was sweating blood. I was very glad when it was done. It was an upsetting thing to
write obviously, it goes very deep into me somewhere. It is a brilliant novel which deals not just with
the social aspect of family life in England at the end of 19th century but with human psyches in
general. Harriet and David Lovatt are a conventional and traditional couple who met at the office party
and immediately fell in love because of the similar interests that they share. One of their common
desires is to have a pretty family house in the country and produce a large family of six or eight
children. All of their friends, family members and relatives are completely shocked by their odd wish.
Slowly they start building a family life; they buy a huge house in the country, and have the first baby.
Ever since they have their first baby their house is full of family members, relatives and friends for
every holiday, just like they have always dreamed of. Besides the fact that Harriet does not have easy
pregnancies and all the work she has to do makes her completely exhausted, she enjoys having a
house full of people and to impose on them with her perfect life. Everything is just like Harriet and

A Modern American Generation s Sacrifice Essay
Throughout the history of America, the ability to overcome adversity has served as a defining
characteristic of the people s identity. The notion of being able to face and overcome challenges,
despite the sacrifices or risks, persists to this day in the United States. From situations such as the war
of Iraq to parents working several jobs a day to put food on the table, one conclusion seems
inescapable: America s current generation has, indeed, continued to defy the odds against them just as
their ancestors in World War II had.
Due to America s involvement in the Iraq War from 2003 to 2011, a number of American citizens left
their cozy homes to fight on the rough soil of a foreign country. From the start, many Americans

He gave up family time in order to pay for the damages caused by economic downfall in America, and
he is not the only person to have made such a sacrifice. My friend s father represents the current state
of thousands of others in this generation who are striving and working to overcome unemployment.
Some critics may condemn the contemporary generation s efforts by claiming that the previous
generation s issues were far more severe than the present ones. Certainly, there are several situations
that occurred in the United States in the 1900s that can be construed as incredibly horrific and drastic,
such as the Vietnam War, which resulted in the loss of a great number of men. However, these critics
clearly fail to realize and acknowledge that more than 2.5 million U.S. troops left their families to
fight in Iraq and an estimated 4,500 died, hence making the exact same sacrifices as the soldiers in
Vietnam did. Thus, the claim that the earlier American generation faced far greater challenges is not
quite accurate. Whether it be fighting in a war or working multiple jobs, sacrifice is surely unique to
the current generation of Americans. United State citizens continue to face many challenges, one
being leaving behind their loved ones for the greater good of their country or family. However,
through perseverance and determination, modern day Americans are able to overcome their ordeals.

After a thorough investigation of committee from War Department, the thing told in the letter is
proved to be true. The committee recommends that all cheated students should be dismissed, which
causes heated debate in Congress. Some Members even demand the reinstatement of their enrollment.
Students also write articles to newspaper, to absolve that cheating in athletes, and even in all students

fate. They all are dismissed in a cheating scandal which broke the Academy s Honor Code. Needless
to say, the most impressive scenario is near end of this movie. Young players got their certification

emotions of dismissed students. They should have graduated and worked as a military one day, but
due to that scandal, all promising future disappeared. We could easily feel the cruelty from that
scenario and begin to think of the importance of righteous, especially for army in 1950s. Some people
may also think it is too strict for them, so it is hard for present people to empathize for them. With
increasing modernization and commercialization, wealth is always at the first place in several people s

Pioneers of Sociology
Pioneers of Sociology * Karl Marx He said that the working class will defeat the ownership class, and
result in a utopia where government will wither away to nothing and the principle of economics will
be based on For each according to his needs, and from each according to his ability. His contribution
to thinking in sociology is mainly in a perspective called Conflict Theory in which social organisation
and change is based upon conflicts built into society. Many people see this as having much
resemblance to classical (Greek and Latin) myths about the Phoenix Bird (who flies too close to the
sun and burns) and creation myths of Athapaskan people of the Great Plains of North America. It is

He used a multidimensional approach to analyzing society. His interpretation of sociology merged the
economic, cultural, and political organizations of society together as being what shaped social
institutions and social change. Another major contribution by Weber was his definition of social action
as a behavior to which people give meaning; e.g., placing a bumper sticker on your car that states
pride in the U.S. military troops. * Vilfredo Pareto His discovery that power laws applied to income
distribution embroiled him in political change and the nascent Fascist movement, whether he really
sided with the Fascists or not. Fascists such as Mussolini found inspiration for their own economic
ideas in his discoveries. He had discovered something that was harsh and Darwinian, in Pareto s view.
And this fueled both the anger and the energy of the Fascist movement because it fueled their
economic and social views. Pareto had argued that democracy was an illusion and that a ruling class
always emerged and enriched itself. For him, the key question was how actively the rulers ruled. For
this reason he called for a drastic reduction of the state and welcomed Benito Mussolini s rule as a
transition to this minimal state so as to liberate the pure economic forces.

Assessment is done by compiling simplified versions of financial balance sheets and income

Pittacus made her change in such a dramatic way that you couldn t misconstrue what he was going for.
Seven is now the type of girl that if you say one thing wrong or out of place she will give you a death

Five stabbed Eight trying to get to Nine. When Eight was killed Seven felt like a part of her was

Seven confronts a man at a local bar who is hitting on her: Marina roughly snatches his wrist. I can
hear the moisture on his arm crackle as it flash freezes, and a second later the guy is crying out as
Marina twists his arm behind his back (Lore 71). I see this behavior extremely reasonable given the
circumstances that she was put through and is now enduring. She lost the boy of her dreams and
somebody is now hitting on her. I also can relate her in this way because of how she feels after these
terrible events hit her all at once. Mainly it is when I get into an argument with my parents. I keep on
thinking that they are treating me unfairly just because I am there son and I convince myself that it is

Importance Of Love In My Life
I had always loved nature. I always played outside and ran around in the morning to cool off in the

Presidential Election of 1912 was a period of time, where presidential candidates have a lot to deal

It was a time, where candidates were in disagreement one from the other. As in the case of Theodore

Howard Taft. The presidential Election of 1912, also brought along significant number of issues, that
were concerns of the Americans. Big issues such as; Labor question, the tariff, votes for women, cost

Two Types Of Motivation Essay
Issue 1: Motivation
Motivation is a psychological force that helps to determine the path or direction of a person s
behavior. It compels an action toward a desired goal. It can be considered as a behavior where people
engage their effort towards their desired goal. There are two types of motivation, internal and external
motivation.
Internal motivation is said to be intrinsic motivation. According to (Carol, 2013), intrinsic motivation
refers to the pleasure one gets from the task itself or from the sense of satisfaction in completing or
even working on a task. However, extrinsic motivation is related to rewards such as salary and
bonuses where it is given to employees by managers. Both of these motivations convince a person to
put their effort towards his or her goals.

Job Maintenance Or Knowledge Retention
When talking to my Company Officer, Captain Polston, about the scenario where a division officer is
asked to sign line items that have not been completed, she stated that it is a real problem that I will
face in the fleet. According to Captain, in some units in the fleet, there is a culture where marking off
task or line items is the norm. Especially when facilitated by the E 4 to E 6 level community, where
items signed off without verifying that the subordinate retained the knowledge or completed the job.
The reasoning behind speed signing line items is that somebody did it for me, so I m going to do it for
someone else. A bro before joe atmosphere has developed in these units, where it is expected that
items will be signed with minimal effort in job maintenance or knowledge retention. Captain stated
that enlisted in these select units enlisted do not necessarily mean to harm anyone and are not all

Therefore, Captain urged that we as divisional officers develop a motto of trust, but verify. It was
discussed that sometimes, it is easy to want to trust your enlisted and even Chief when an inspection is
coming around. However, we need to remember that we are ultimately responsible for the
maintenance of our division and the knowledge/ readiness of our crew. Therefore, we must
occasionally inspect the division ourselves to ensure that all standards are met and completed

Urban Dwellers affected by Race
There have been many articles published about the transformation of cities in regards to industrial
improvements, communities blooming with mass migrations, and standards of living. A number of
different cultures have migrated to rural and urban populations and among those mass migrations
there were African Americans. Although immigrants went through hardships such as harsh living
conditions and low status, they didn t have to go through as much trouble as African Americans did.
African Americans who moved into the city were not on top of the priority list to most. They were not
given the time of day to their needs. Race affected these urban dwellers because of discrimination,
living conditions, and inequality. The color of their skin, regardless of abolishment of slavery and
social and economic well being was the only obstacle they faced every day to achieve the same
opportunities as the whites did and other immigrants. George Edmund Haynes article, Conditions
Among Negroes in the Cities, investigates reason and explains why certain situation were often
ignored, He states, There is growing up in the cities of America a distinct Negro world, isolated from
many of the impulses of the common life and little known and understood by the white world about it
(110). Flaws of their culture and color of their skin affected African Americans as urban dwellers. As
Haynes states, they had

Celebrating the Triumph of Charlie Parker Essay
Charles Christopher Parker Jr. was born on August 29, 1920 in Kansas City, Kansas to Charles and
Addie Parker. Charlie led a lonely childhood which resulted from his parents separation in 1927 when
Charlie was just 7 years old. His father was never around much following the separation. Their house
however was just a short walk from Kansas City s entertainment district which attracted Charlie while
growing up. This was to be where Charlie would find his place in the world.
While Charlie s mother was working, he would walk around Kansas City listening to jazz behind the
clubs. Parker would sit around all night listening to his idol Lester Young perform along with the
Count Bassie band. It was here that Charlie was developing his ... Show more content on

To support himself Charlie washed dishes at a local food joint, where he met Buddy Fleet, who was
the one who tutored Charlie in playing the saxophone. Charlie would then return to Kansas City due to
the death of his father and stayed home for about a half a year while playing in a small band there.
Then in late 1939 Charlie joined back up with McShann and moved back to Harlem, where Charlie
would meet Dizzie Gillespie. Gillespie would join Charlie and would start to work together and
develop a new form of jazz. While Charlie was experimenting with a number of different chords in a
jam session he discovered a new approach to improvisation. These new chord progressions and the
ever emerging sounds of Harlem, bebop was born.
Parker would eventually need a break from New York City and decided to travel to California where
he would travel for a couple years. It was during this trip to the west coast that he would get heavier in
to drugs and alcohol, specifically heroin which he used as his inspiration. It was while in Los Angeles
performing that Charlie would suffer a nervous breakdown, for which he was confined to a hospital
bed. He was released in 1947 and returned to New York, where he formed a quintet with Miles Davis
and others. Parker would once again tire of New York City and head to Europe for a couple of years,
where he would encounter a lot of devoted fans and he also did numerous recordings.

The Effects Of Poverty In Hunger Of Memory
Poverty displays itself as the undeniable reality of what our society displays that needs to stop so that
future generations do not become forced to live the terrible life it manifests. Poverty is an international
problem that has the potential to end if individuals work together to care enough. In Hunger of
Memory, Richard Rodriguez explains the struggles of a Mexican American student in poverty that
expresses his hunger to become a writer and a teacher one day. In contrast, in Nora Ephron s The
Boston Photographs the families that appear in the photographs display tiredness of how they have the
ability to live in poverty. While a long time period separates these two pieces of work, both discuss
families that appear to struggle due to the effects of poverty in their everyday lives. However, whereas
Rodriquez illustrates the willpower and hunger to want to move on from his lifestyle that he lives and
overcome his impoverish state, Ephron demonstrates how families in The Boston Photographs want to
end their lives since they will have nothing else due to their state of poverty. The first difference
between the two pieces of works is that the hope that reoccurs throughout the essay. In Hunger of
Memory, Richard Rodriguez stresses his love of language and his development as a writer and a
teacher. Rodriguez strives to better his education so that he can go further in life. Individuals
continually stress that nowadays one can go extremely far with an education; however,

The Vs. Emission Testing
In a modern society, people always face the dilemma to choose whether obey ethic standards or gain

conspirators designed and implemented software for new EA 189 diesel engine, to cheat the missions

It is important to have an understanding of Maxim, Will, and Duty to better understand the Categorical
Imperative theory. Maxim is a subjective principle of volition; Kant believed that when people were
doing something, they always followed the general principle. For example, if one person needed to
borrow some money from his friend, and he knows that he was not able to pay it back. However, he
still borrowed that money from his friend. In this time, the general principle is that whenever I need
money, I can borrow it from the others, even though I know that I would not give it back. So that
people would follow this general principle under the same situation if they argue with it. Also, the will
means what makes a good man good is the will to have a decision that is decided by universal moral
law in some way. Besides, the last one is the duty, according to Kant s theory; he believed that self
interest and motivation are different; how people act from the respect of the universal law would make
a good will. In another word, the theory of duty is a person with the capacity to act morally to
universal law. Furthermore, to better illustrate Kant s theory there is no better way than comparing the
differences between that with rule utilitarianism. The principle of utility is the greatest amount of good
for the greatest number. , which is also called consequentialism; the moral behavior

Why Is Mulch Important To You Essay
If there s one singular thing you can do for their garden or landscape one simple action you can take
that could potentially bring your plants back to life and prevent current and future disasters, it s
mulching. And I m not necessarily talking about pre colored cypress bark that you see surrounding
lonely barberries in a Target parking lot. I m talking about real mulching with real, workable materials
that your plants will eventually be able to benefit from. Granted, painted chunks of wood still have the
potential to break down into the soil eventually, but the process is slow and ugly and isn t meant to
serve the purposes that mulch should be serving. So, what kinds of mulches are best and why is mulch
so good for your garden?
If you ve ever taken a hike through an undisturbed forest, or stopped to really look at what s going on
under that messy tree of yours in the fall, you ll get a better understanding of what mulch is and what
it s meant to do. Look on the ground. What do you see? Depending on the time of year, you ll see
something different. Most notably, in the fall, you ll see a colorful blanket of spent leaves, covering
everything they land on. If they do this on your lawn, you may see a problem. In the forest, those
leaves are far from a problem. They re a necessary and welcome part of the ecosystem.
Mother Nature doesn t do anything by accident. Those fallen leaves are full of all the necessary
nutrients that the plants and animals in the soil on the forest floor need. They also provide protection
from the winter weather, offering a barrier between the soil and the freezing temperatures above.
During the growing season, the mulch keeps the soil on the forest floor evenly moist and cool,
creating a suitable environment for plants and animals to thrive and flourish. The size and thickness of
the leaf cover is easily and quickly broken down by the organisms living in the soil, which then
improves the soil and makes the nutrients from those leaves available to the plants again, starting the
cycle over.
In a controlled environment such as a garden or landscape with an artificial array of plant materials,
attempting to let everything naturally mulch itself is impossible. That job belongs to the

Recommended Revisions As this project is brought to a close, a reflection can be made on what
should be done differently. The project did not struggle with a timeline or gathering information on
soldier suicides at the state level. The project did not suffer from lack of participation by chaplains
who heard the initial phase 1 introduction to CALLS training and enlistment for more information.
However, the Project Director acknowledges that there was an underestimate to the sheer volume of
information that the Bible has on the topic of suicidality. Characters throughout the Old Testament
could have been discussed or added to the training. This was seen as being too time consuming and
would have taken the project much further off of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would allow senior pastors or other leaders to train ministers to be better pastoral counselors in
their own churches with people who have nothing to do with the military. Even if the work of this
dissertation is not adapted to the civilian world by other students or by future implementation of the
Project Direct, the training is still of value to the Arkansas Army National Guard. The next step for
this training is the continuation and deepening of the topics by the state s 4 brigade chaplains. Each
chaplain is responsibly to develop a yearly training plan for their subordinate ministry teams. 2 of the
4 brigade chaplains plan to evaluate CALLS training and then write their own additions which address
areas they are specifically seeing among their smaller population of troops. This means that CALLS
will be even more specialized and precise for the soldier needing to receive pastoral counseling from
their chaplain. Furthermore, the Project Director could make this a required new training for all
chaplain candidates in the state prior to them going to a battalion ministry for observation. Application
beyond the state of Arkansas is easily achievable. Two areas remain open for an immediate impact on
chaplains across all components but specifically

Early Human Evolution Research Paper
Throughout history, historians and archeologists uncovered many fascinating discoveries. Two
significant findings were the Clovis and Folsom discoveries. The early humans left behind clues for
archaeologists to understand a part of their life. There were a few written records, so archaeologists
focused primarily on artifacts to find out information about the past. In order to find out more about
the past, archaeologists looked to the Folsom discoveries to help recognize early human origin,
migration, and culture. In Folsom, New Mexico, a world famous archaeological site, archaeologists
has made revolutionary discoveries, providing information on human migration and history. The early
humans, Homo erectus, originated from Africa. Around 400,000 ... Show more content on

North American is filled with a vast variety of different environments. Due to the diversity of the
environments, cultures of the Native Americans were diverse as well. Many cultural beliefs of the
Native Americans in North America had survived for many generations and continues even today.
More than three hundred major tribes and hundred of lesser groups inhabited North America alone (8).
A tribe that roamed the Great Plains was known as the Indians of the Great Plains. The group of
Indians was widely known for its nomadic life as the group followed the bisons as bisons migrated
through the Great Plains. The Great Plains hunters originally used spears like their fellow ancestors,
the Paleo Indians. However, the spears were replaced by the bow and arrows. Most of Great Plains
Indian s clothing and tools were made out of bisons skin. Along the Pacific coast, five hundred tribes
reside in California alone. One tribe settled along the Pacific coast was the Chumash. The Chumash
main source of food tends to be from the ocean. The Chumash built canoes for hunting in the waters.
They tend to hunt for whales and fishes. The whale provided bones to make weapons out of and a
variety of useful tools. Although the tribes lived in different areas, the tribes shared a common
ancestry. The tribes followed the hunting gathering method as well as the usages of the Clovis point.

  • 2. Gregor Mendel s Theory Of Genetics Introduction Gregor Johann Mendel was a scientist, Augustinian friar and an abbot of St. Thomas Abbey in Brno, Margraviate of Moravia. He was born on July 20, 1822 and died on January 6, 1884 at the age of 61. He was Austrian and was the child of Anton and Rosine Mendel along with two other siblings. He studied in the field of genetics at two universities and one institution and is known for creating the science of genetics. Early Life Gregor was born the middle child and the only son of Anton and Rosine Mendel. He lived and worked on the family farm that had been family owned for generations. He worked in the garden and studied beekeeping which contributed to his deep love for biological sciences. He received his early ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of these characteristics were the height of the plant, shape of the pod, shape of the seed, size and color of the seeds. He cross pollinated the plants with different characteristics in order to study the effects on the offspring. He also made sure to prevent accidental pollination by insects. He cultivated thousands of pea plants throughout his experiments. He collected the seeds of the offspring and examined them for changes or variations in color, shape, and size. He compared the plants for differences in height. Over a period of eight years he examined and observed plants that would form the basis for a deeper study of genetics. He presented the results of his experiments in 1865 at the Natural History Society of Brno. In 1866 his findings were published in Experiments on Plant Hybridization. His research failed to create an impact at that time. He was made abbot of the monastery in 1868, where he had been teaching. The increase in responsibilities prevented him from carrying out anymore scientific experiments. Gregor Mendel s experiments and information failed to gain much attention and importance during his lifetime, but he did form the foundation for what is now known as Mendel s Laws of Inheritance. Accomplishments Gregor Mendel discovered the fundamental laws of inheritance by his work through pea plants. He concluded that genes come ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The house was a single level, white in color with a tin roof. The front of the house had a porch that also faced the south. When I pulled into the driveway, two people were standing on the front porch. I walked up to the porch and the two individuals identified themselves as the home owners. The male identified himself as Augustus Arterburn 05/07/1993, and the female identified herself as Isabella Cook 03/20/1993. He also said a stack of 20 miscellaneous DVD s were taken on the TV stand. We then walked into the kitchen that was located to the south of the living room. Augustus said when they left the house the pile of clothes that were on the ground were directly in front of the back door. When they returned home the clothes were all pushed up against the wall because the back door had been opened. The rear door to the house faced the north and no lights were on. The rear door only locks with the door handle lock and was undamaged. Augustus and Isabella said they had looked over the entire house and only the items listed above were taken. Augustus said two other flat screen TV s were not taken and he had firearms in the bedroom that were not tampered with. I asked Augustus if he owned the home or if he was renting, he said they were renting and had just moved in. I asked him if he had the locks changed since they had moved in, he said no. Question : (TCO B) List three organizational factors that can prevent a firm from fully realizing the benefits of a new information system, and provide examples of each. Student Answer: You will not be able to design new systems successfully without understanding the culture, politics, and structure of the organization. Culture is the fundamental set of assumptions, values and ways of doing things, that is accepted by most at the company. Parts of an org s culture can be found embedded in their information systems. If this changes and has a negative effect on the overall culture, much resistance will be found. For example, my employer currently doesn t monitor email usage, but if they began to do it many would feel untrusted and would resist the change. It is about a police chief that has been assigned to a hot resort on one of New England Coast s beaches. His job is to make sure that the killer shark, which has already eaten a person in this area, does not have a chance to attack again. The film is set on the 4th of July because it is a national holiday in America The Independence Day. This is to highlight the fact that the girl has been killed in a very brutal and painful way and that nobody could help her, even if they wanted to. It also tells the audience that the shark is creepy, awful and unstoppable. This shark characterisation helped the director to build tension more effectively before the future attacks. Just like silence, music can also be used to scare the audience. An example of this is the loudness of the theme tune increasing as the shark is getting closer to its prey. It tells us that the attack is about to begin and lets us know that the person attacked will die, we know that he or she could not survive as previous victims had not survived. In the second attack a lot of camera techniques have been used to help build tension and scare the audience. The scene began with a straight, long shot of a 10 year old boy, Alex, going to his mother to ask for more time in the water. The straight shot was used to show equality, to make the audience feel as they are in the same place with all tourists on the beach. This did not build any tension because nothing was going to happen at that point. The audience might wonder why so much time is spent with Alex, why we are continously focused on him, not on any of the other boys this starts to build ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Concept Of Autonomy In Nursing The concept of autonomy is of keen interest to health care providers, patients, and the entire nursing practice. The present drive of the heath care setting regularly requires a focused response in dealing with different health issues daily. Thus, autonomy affords a room for healthcare providers including nurses to use their judgments and to be apt in providing patient centered care. Through a literature review, autonomy was examined as it relates to nursing, education, and science. A model case was employed to determine nurses perception of autonomy and understand how they develop and exhibit autonomy in their practice. Concept Analysis of Autonomy Autonomy provides the platform for self directed nurses to act consciously without pressure in the implementation of their duties. Such roles demand the exercise of autonomy, a term which eludes succinct definition despite the fact that the preparation of practitioners for these roles relies on a clear understanding of its nature. This paper undertakes a concept analysis of autonomy, each step illustrated with examples taken from clinical practice, with the ultimate aim of offering an operational definition of autonomy. The concept of autonomy in the nursing profession is considered a requisite for professional standing. Consequently, professional nurse autonomy is the belief in the entirety of the client when making responsible optional decisions; which reflect advocacy for the client (Kramer Schmalenberg, 1993). ... • 9. Military Professionalism Military Professionalism cannot be incontestably defined, unless it is phrased in terms of what it seeks to address: the relationship between the civilian and military spheres and the traditions and skills necessary to conduct effective exercises of power on behalf of the state. Thus, Military Professionalism may be defined as any combination of behaviors, traits, values, and skills which lead to an optimal outcome in these categories. Huntington and Janowitz differ insofar as they attempt to describe different methods by which Military Professionalism is arrived at, though their core metrics are similar insofar as they agree upon the existence of an optimal level of power for the military to possess in relation to the civilian government. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, for Huntington, that is the entirety of the definition! To quote him directly, A highly professional officer corps stands ready to carry out the wishes of any civilian group which secures legitimate authority within the state. Huntington, of course, puts forward a substantial sub structure in his defining of Military Professionalism which is not readily apparent in what seems to be such a simple definition. In his principle work on civilian military relations, The Soldier and the State, he puts forward a dichotomy of objective and subjective civilian control over the military, the former of which represents simple voluntary and autonomous subservience to the objectives of the civilian sphere, while the latter indicates a transmutation, and an integral weakening and altering of the military readiness in an attempt to ensure the primacy of civilian power. Thus, Military Professionalism as autonomous subservience fulfills the role of the optimal relation of military and state by Huntington s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Avoiding Roof Repair In Salt Lake House One of the joys of owning your own home is that you will never run out of things to do. From mowing the lawn and raking to maintaining the furnace, your list of homeowner duties could be quite long. With so much keeping you on your toes year round, you will probably want to find a way to avoid unnecessary problems. For example, making repairs to your roof after it has been damaged by a tree. If you want to avoid roof repair in Salt Lake City, UT, here are a few things to look out for if you have a tree in your yard. Branches: Trees are known to have overhanging branches that are often a nuisance to homeowners. If your home wasn t so important to you, you may not be bothered by this, but branches pose a serious threat to your roof. Tree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It may seem like there is little destruction that can be done by leaves, but this isn t exactly true. When leaves fall from trees and start to pile up on your roof, they are trapping in moisture, which can come from rain and snow. Over time, you could start to experience warping, leaks, rotting and weakened support beams. Weight: If a tree were to fall on a house, the roof could easily be destroyed. When trees are dead or diseased, they are unstable. This instability would make anyone worry about how long the tree will last and how much damage would be caused if it were to fall. Depending on the weight of the tree, there is a chance little damage will be caused, but there is no guaranteeing that no damage will be done to your roof or your entire home. Pests: The trees near your home are actually home to pests and insects. With the trees being so close to your home, these pests and insects can easily make their way to your roof and cause damage. For example, raccoons, birds, termites and more can eat your roof, loosen shingles and pretty much destroy your roof over time. Introduction Setting a purpose I will explain to students that our objective in book club for 7th will be accountability. To illustrate, I will ask students about their literature circle experiences. Unlike literature circles (which many students participated in during grades 3 5), no roles will be assigned but everyone is responsible for the reciprocal reading strategies. These strategies will be on an anchor chart to be displayed throughout the year. Next, I will show the brief YouTube video 8th Grade Book Club and Accountable Talk and ask students to describe the behaviors observed. The video will prompt a discussion about book club our upcoming discussions. 2. Pre reading activities Set ground 3 5 ground rules. This will be a whole class endeavor, not a list developed solely by the teacher. However, the rules should indicate that the book group is a safe environment (as is the entire classroom) where everyone has a voice. Rules that alert students to be respectful, responsible and agree to disagree are common suggestions. Allow students to make the book club ground rules chart to display. Johnson s speech The Great Society he is effective in showing that the society must work to build and achieve a great society. He is effective in showing this by giving examples of how to improve America by using rhetorical devices in his speech to create envisionments of the future in the society. By doing this he is effective in his speech to motivate people to participate and help develop this great society. In Lyndon B. Johnson s speech the language he uses shows that America can be greatly improved to achieve a great society. A Great Society for the American people and their fellow men elsewhere was the vision of Lyndon B. Johnson. Johnson is telling the citizens of America that he envisions America to become a great society. He wants to work on the weaknesses so that the American society can be fully developed and advanced in the quick developing world. Captain Nemo was a very mysterious character in the novel. He was a genius who had a passion for the sea. He created a submarine, The Nautilus, that used technology far more advanced than anything else of its time, in order to explore and to learn more about the oceans of the world. He was very curious and willing to learn. In 1866, ships around the world were being attacked by an enormous thing, faster and larger than a whale. It was larger, wider, and heavier than anything previously recorded in the history of fish. A group of men, on a boat called the Abraham Lincoln, set out to uncover this mystery. The ship collided with the thing and flew some men overboard, including Conseil, Ned Land, and professor Pierre Aronnax. These men were using something to float on in the water, and soon realized it was a submarine. Then, men with masks pulled them aboard. They were told that they had freedom on the boat, but they were never allowed to leave. Captain Nemo invited the men to go hunting, diving and exploring with him throughout the novel. • 20. The Fifth Child by Doris Lessing The Fifth Child is the masterpiece of Nobel Prize winner Doris Lessing. Lessing herself described it as a horror story, but we can also put it into the genre of social psychological novels. She declared: I hated writing it. It was sweating blood. I was very glad when it was done. It was an upsetting thing to write obviously, it goes very deep into me somewhere. It is a brilliant novel which deals not just with the social aspect of family life in England at the end of 19th century but with human psyches in general. Harriet and David Lovatt are a conventional and traditional couple who met at the office party and immediately fell in love because of the similar interests that they share. One of their common desires is to have a pretty family house in the country and produce a large family of six or eight children. All of their friends, family members and relatives are completely shocked by their odd wish. Slowly they start building a family life; they buy a huge house in the country, and have the first baby. Ever since they have their first baby their house is full of family members, relatives and friends for every holiday, just like they have always dreamed of. Besides the fact that Harriet does not have easy pregnancies and all the work she has to do makes her completely exhausted, she enjoys having a house full of people and to impose on them with her perfect life. The notion of being able to face and overcome challenges, despite the sacrifices or risks, persists to this day in the United States. From situations such as the war of Iraq to parents working several jobs a day to put food on the table, one conclusion seems inescapable: America s current generation has, indeed, continued to defy the odds against them just as their ancestors in World War II had. Due to America s involvement in the Iraq War from 2003 to 2011, a number of American citizens left their cozy homes to fight on the rough soil of a foreign country. My friend s father represents the current state of thousands of others in this generation who are striving and working to overcome unemployment. Some critics may condemn the contemporary generation s efforts by claiming that the previous generation s issues were far more severe than the present ones. Certainly, there are several situations that occurred in the United States in the 1900s that can be construed as incredibly horrific and drastic, such as the Vietnam War, which resulted in the loss of a great number of men. However, these critics clearly fail to realize and acknowledge that more than 2.5 million U.S. troops left their families to fight in Iraq and an estimated 4,500 died, hence making the exact same sacrifices as the soldiers in Vietnam did. Thus, the claim that the earlier American generation faced far greater challenges is not quite accurate. Whether it be fighting in a war or working multiple jobs, sacrifice is surely unique to the current generation of Americans. United State citizens continue to face many challenges, one being leaving behind their loved ones for the greater good of their country or family. Fascists such as Mussolini found inspiration for their own economic ideas in his discoveries. He had discovered something that was harsh and Darwinian, in Pareto s view. And this fueled both the anger and the energy of the Fascist movement because it fueled their economic and social views. Pareto had argued that democracy was an illusion and that a ruling class always emerged and enriched itself. For him, the key question was how actively the rulers ruled. For this reason he called for a drastic reduction of the state and welcomed Benito Mussolini s rule as a transition to this minimal state so as to liberate the pure economic forces. ~ Min ... Maxim is a subjective principle of volition; Kant believed that when people were doing something, they always followed the general principle. For example, if one person needed to borrow some money from his friend, and he knows that he was not able to pay it back. However, he still borrowed that money from his friend. In this time, the general principle is that whenever I need money, I can borrow it from the others, even though I know that I would not give it back. So that people would follow this general principle under the same situation if they argue with it. Also, the will means what makes a good man good is the will to have a decision that is decided by universal moral law in some way. Besides, the last one is the duty, according to Kant s theory; he believed that self interest and motivation are different; how people act from the respect of the universal law would make a good will. • 45. Why Is Mulch Important To You Essay If there s one singular thing you can do for their garden or landscape one simple action you can take that could potentially bring your plants back to life and prevent current and future disasters, it s mulching. And I m not necessarily talking about pre colored cypress bark that you see surrounding lonely barberries in a Target parking lot. I m talking about real mulching with real, workable materials that your plants will eventually be able to benefit from. Granted, painted chunks of wood still have the potential to break down into the soil eventually, but the process is slow and ugly and isn t meant to serve the purposes that mulch should be serving. So, what kinds of mulches are best and why is mulch so good for your garden? If you ve ever taken a hike through an undisturbed forest, or stopped to really look at what s going on under that messy tree of yours in the fall, you ll get a better understanding of what mulch is and what it s meant to do. Look on the ground. What do you see? Depending on the time of year, you ll see something different. Most notably, in the fall, you ll see a colorful blanket of spent leaves, covering everything they land on. If they do this on your lawn, you may see a problem. In the forest, those leaves are far from a problem. They re a necessary and welcome part of the ecosystem. Mother Nature doesn t do anything by accident. Those fallen leaves are full of all the necessary nutrients that the plants and animals in the soil on the forest floor need. They also provide protection from the winter weather, offering a barrier between the soil and the freezing temperatures above. During the growing season, the mulch keeps the soil on the forest floor evenly moist and cool, creating a suitable environment for plants and animals to thrive and flourish. The size and thickness of the leaf cover is easily and quickly broken down by the organisms living in the soil, which then improves the soil and makes the nutrients from those leaves available to the plants again, starting the cycle over. In a controlled environment such as a garden or landscape with an artificial array of plant materials, attempting to let everything naturally mulch itself is impossible. That job belongs to the ... This would allow senior pastors or other leaders to train ministers to be better pastoral counselors in their own churches with people who have nothing to do with the military. Even if the work of this dissertation is not adapted to the civilian world by other students or by future implementation of the Project Direct, the training is still of value to the Arkansas Army National Guard. The next step for this training is the continuation and deepening of the topics by the state s 4 brigade chaplains. Each chaplain is responsibly to develop a yearly training plan for their subordinate ministry teams. 2 of the 4 brigade chaplains plan to evaluate CALLS training and then write their own additions which address areas they are specifically seeing among their smaller population of troops. This means that CALLS will be even more specialized and precise for the soldier needing to receive pastoral counseling from their chaplain. Furthermore, the Project Director could make this a required new training for all chaplain candidates in the state prior to them going to a battalion ministry for observation. Application beyond the state of Arkansas is easily achievable. Two areas remain open for an immediate impact on chaplains across all components but specifically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
