The Absolutely True Diary Of A Part Time Indian And Jin...
INTRODUCTION ~ THESIS When evaluating Arnold Junior Spirit from Sherman Alexie s The
Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian and Jin Wang from Gene Luen Yang s American Born
Chinese, similarities radiate in both characters as their disparity in race deem the two of them as
outcasts in the entirety of society. In addition to their lack of social interactions, their uniformity in
their impulsive decisions cost them each a dear friend. Although Junior and Jin are quite similar, they
share differences in the way Junior tries bettering himself by fitting into both his Indian and Reardan
culture whereas Jin changes himself in every possible way to become Americanized. *** The
correspondence between Junior and Jin is detected in both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A world once filled with Asian friends and neighbors crashes harshly as Jin is left stranded in a white
dominated school. Stereotypes and teasing are quickly placed on him from his racial background. Still
new to the area, Jin presumes, The only other Asian in my class was Suzy Nakamura. When the class
finally figured out that we weren t related, rumors began to circulate that Suzy and I were arranged to
be married on her thirteenth birthday. We avoided each other as much as possible (Yang 31).
Embarrassment clouds Jin as he realizes that he s not like the other kids in his class. With distinct
features and his native tongue, Jin felt like a reject surrounded by his Caucasian classmates. He was
entirely alone amongst his peers, and he didn t like that one single bit. In this way, it s clear how both
Junior and Jin felt like outcasts in these two oceans of white students and teachers. *** Acknowledged
in both novels, Junior and Jin s spontaneous actions leave them both friendless and bruised. In Junior s
case, this meant ditching the reservation s schooling system and finding one that surpasses the
education he was taught. In the spur of the moment, Junior decides to do just that and attend an all
white school in the neighboring town. Getting the courage to tell his best friend, Junior braces himself
for Rowdy s reaction. Denial embedded his friend s senses; remoteness then trickled its way through
his head

Exploring Ways Of Assist And Or Intervene At Risk Students
The purpose of this study is to explore ways to assist and/or intervene at risk students in order to set
them on the path towards graduation. The NCES reported the graduation rate declined from 12% to
7% during 1990 2013. These are good improvements, however, we must continue take the necessary
steps to lower these numbers for future generations. Graduation will open up a world of opportunities
that might not other wise be available to them without a high school diploma. According to an article
in PBS Frontline in 2012, an individual without a high school diploma can earn, a national average of,
$20,241 a year. That is $10,386 less than a person who graduated from high school. $10,000 does not
sound like a lot of money spread out over an entire year, but it averages out to be an extra $200 a
week. In my opinion, that is significant. Someone who goes on to earn their bachelor degree can
expect to earn an additional $36,364 per year. What many students do not understand is that without
high school graduation they cannot enter the military or qualify for many lower scale jobs as these
require a diploma or high school equivalency. There are so many factors that contribute to a student s
decision to stay in school or to dropout but if communities and schools can intervene, maybe the
national dropout rate can be lowered lending to a better life for all involved. For the last eleven years I
have worked with at risk high school students in an alternative school associated

Stability Operations Essay
Stability operations are an important function of the military arm of national power after a period of
conflict. Stability operations by definition assist in supporting the host nation government by
establishing civil security, civil control, supporting the host nation government (HN), restoring
essential services, and assisting in infrastructure and economic improvements. In order for stability
operations to be effective, there must be a complete and thorough analysis of the lines of effort (LOE),
identification of risks and mitigation techniques with the intention of advance the desired end state.
The LOE Establish Civil Security advances the desired end state of creating a Safe and Secure
Environment by shaping the environment into one, which promotes safety, security and stability for
the residents where conflict has taken place, until such time that the HN government can assume
responsibility for these functions. Based on an analysis of the current LOE, ... Show more content on

This LOE is necessary because at a point the expectation is that the HN with possible assistance from
the UN/OGA will assume full responsibility for the civil security of the operational area. Therefore, it
is imperative we establish a transition period to ensure successful transition and the continuance of a

Different Interpretations Of A Privileged Life
As a white male living in the United States of America, one could say that I am privileged. However,
whether or not I live a privileged life is a matter of comparison. There are certainly people who are
more privileged, and absolutely people who are less. It is not likely that one will find the definition of
a privileged life in a dictionary. Simply put, it is too hard to fit such a broad meaning into the three or
so lines of an average definition. There are many different interpretations of the meaning, and this
essay s purpose is to explain the differences between them. People may look at their life in times of
disparity and think to themselves that they do not lead a privileged life. The problem that lay within
those people is that they are sitting in their heated home, laying on their memory foam mattress, and
eating a warm home cooked meal. The reality of the situation is that there remain others with far
worse situations than the one that particular person is in. Someone might make a choice to lead their
life the way that a less privileged person would. For example, the documentary Living on one follows
four college students who travel to Guatemala and live off one dollar a day. The four students say We
knew that we d never be able to truly replicate poverty but we did believe that this would be a
valuable experience and a great way of sharing the stories of our neighbors as well. They are correct in

The Practice Of Genital Mutilation
Final Paper The practice of genital mutilation is a cultural tradition performed across central Africa, in
the southern Sahara, and in parts of the Middle East. Most women who have experienced FGC live in
one of the 28 countries in Africa and the Middle East where FGC is practiced. Almost one half of
women who have experienced FGC live in Egypt or Ethiopia. To a lesser degree, FGC is practiced in
Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, and India. Some immigrants practice various forms of FGC in other
parts of the world, including Australia, Cana da, New Zealand, the United States, and in European
nations. Circumcision is a religious or cultural ritual for many Jewish and Islamic families, as well as

Female circumcision in Africa is completed in order to prove that the female is going to be able to
endure life s hardships, and that she will be able to handle responsibility when older. Muslims believe
females must get circumcised in order to curb the female s sexual desire. After the procedure, the
women are expected to get married and start their own families. This procedure is usually done on
young girls between infancy and the age of 15, most likely before puberty starts. The procedure is
traditionally carried out by a woman with no medical training. Anesthetics and antiseptic treatments
are not normally used, and the practice is usually carried out using knives, scissors, and scalpels,
pieces of glass or razor blades. Girls are sometimes put down in restraints. There are some immediate
and long term effects to this procedure including, severe pain, shock, bleeding, HIV and hepatitis,
abnormal periods, complication in pregnancy and pain in sex. It can also sometimes lead to death.
Surgery can be performed to open up the lower vagina called the reversal , although it cannot restore
sensitive tissue that has been removed. Surgery may be necessary for women who are unable to have
intercourse, as the vagina is too narrow. In addition, some pregnant women who have had FGM will
need to have their lower vagina opened up before labor, to allow a safer birth. FGM increases the risk
of the vagina tearing during delivery, which causes damage and can lead to

Rhetorical Analysis of To My People by Assata Shakur
During the 70s, the fight for equal rights and Black power was a ravaging fight. Famous protesters
such as Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and Assata Shakur. In particular, Assata Shakur was a
leader of the Black Power Movement (BPM). Through her struggles, Shakur educates her audience,
this is written on a blog but spoken out loud at the time, on how there is racial bias and injustice. By
applying a wide range of rhetorical devices, Shakur uses her position as a Black Liberation Army
leader to motivate African Americans to fight for the Black Power Movement. As Shakur begins her
speech, she introduces pathos into her writing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rulers of this country have always considered their property more important than our lives. They
call us murderers, but we were not responsible for the twenty eight brother inmates and nine hostages
murdered at attica (17). Providing examples of tyranny and accusations personify the evil that the
legal system has against African Americans and further digs the idea that every officer is out there
hunting them down. Repeating the phrase They call us murderers... Shakur demonstrates that the
police are blaming the murders as a community fight or placing the blame on an African American
because it is convenient (15 19). The repetition in the beginning of each sentence proves that African
Americans were blamed for murders that they did not commit. To further push her purpose of joining
the BPM and protect the African American population, Shakur persuades her audience to observe the
injustices and accusations happening. Close to finishing her speech, Shakur profoundly speaks by
translating ethos and allusions to benefit the BPM. Credibility travels deeper into the mind when a
speaker addresses an audience and Shakur recalls that, they call us kidnappers, yet Brother Clark

The Importance Of Representative Democracy
Americans are too dumb for a democracy. The way representative democracy is supposed to work is
pretty simple:you protect the fundamental rights of the minority and the majority of citizens elect
representatives who will pursue the greater good for the greater number of citizens. That would make
sense but lots of citizens don t have a solid grasp on what s going on in the real world. Today elections
are won by politicians striving to make themselves sound approachable rather than smart. in one of

The Ideal Image Of Nuclear Family And How I Met Your...
The ideal image of nuclear family used to be described as a male husband, a female wife and their
kids; however, in few decades, the term family has become diverse without any blood related
relationships. Because of this recent change of family values, it is easy to find that present television
shows also reflect the new concept of family and influence the recognition of the viewers at the same
time. Among many TV programs such as Simpsons , F is for family and How I met your mother ,
Modern Family is a representative show dealing with modern family types and values. It is a domestic
TV sitcom of ABC, featuring the lives of three different types of fictional families. Apart from the
humorous stories, it becomes very popular because of suggesting that friendly characters are easy to
relate to real life. It shows innovative aspects of family structures including a gay couple with an
adopted baby and an interracial marriage between a divorced old man with a much younger woman. In
addition, its form is a fake documentary about when family members agree to participate in interviews
for a documentary, but they don t actually realize how much they are revealing their lives themselves.
Also, the main theme of the show is But that s the thing about family: no matter how badly you
behave, hopefully they ll forgive (Modern Family Synopsis, 2011). The show has a favourable notice
in media field because it handles social issues through its characters showing racial,

Essay about A Biography of Josephine Baker
A Biography of Josephine Baker
Josephine Baker was born Freda Josephine MacDonald in St. Louis, Missouri to her unwed parents:
Carrie McDonald and Eddie Carson. Her father soon left the family and Josephine had to help her
mother support herself and her three younger half siblings. At age eight, she got a job working as a
maid for a white family (Robinson). At age 12, she had dropped out of school to work. By age 14, she
had moved out, been married, and separated from her first husband. She would later go onto marry
and divorce three more men. Never was she financially dependent on any man, including her
husbands.

In 1936, Josephine attempted a return to the United States to star in the Ziegfield Follies. Due to the
still prevalent racism in the United States, she was greeted with negative reviews. Americans were not
yet ready to embrace a black woman as sophisticated and powerful, despite her success in Europe
(About).
Just a few years later, World War II spread across Europe. Josephine helped out France in every way
she could: performing for troops, being an honorable correspondent for the French Resistance
(smuggling secret messages), and serving as a sub lieutenant in the Women s Auxiliary Air Force
(About). For her efforts, she was later awarded the Medal of the Resistance with Rosette and dubbed a
Chevalier of the Legion of Honor by the French government.
In the 50s and 60s, Josephine returned to the United States to help fight racism. She refused to
perform in any club or theatre that was not integrated (Lewis). This resulted in the breaking of the
color bar in many establishments, especially in Las Vegas. May 20 was named Josephine Baker day
by the NAACP for her efforts. Part of her fight against racism came in the form of the Rainbow Tribe.
She adopted 12 children to demonstrate that children of different ethnicities and religions could still be

Arthur Miller s Death Of A Salesman
An Analysis of Tragic Heroism of Biff Loman in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller
This literary study will define the tragic heroism of Biff Loman in Arthur Miller s play The Death of a
Salesman. Biff is initially a victim of Willy s continual harassment to make more money and find a
better career. In this family unit, Biff must endure the unrealistic and fantasy based elusions of his
father in his fanatical pursuit of the American Dream. However, Biff soon learns of Willy s extra
marital betrayal to his mother, which allows him to experience an epiphany against the self deception
of his father s abusive fantasy world. Biffs tragic role in this family is found in the ability to accept
reality and overcome the victim role imposed on him by his father. This tragic aspect of Biffs heroism
defines a single voice of reason in a self deceiving family unit, which defines his liberation from his
father s tyrannical behavior. In essence, Biffs tragic heroism will be examined by analyzing the
journey towards self realization in Arthur Miller s The Death of a Salesman. The beginning of Miller s
play presents Willy Loman, a failed salesman that is continually putting pressure on his children to get
better jobs and make more money. Willy s pursuit of the American Dream exploits Biff and Happy as
a type of retirement plan in this materialistic mindset: You ll retire me for life on seventy goddamn
dollars a week? (Miller 28). In this way, Willy views Biff as being weaker than

Microsoft would henceforth focus its platform efforts on Windows and the NT kernel. In the ensuing
years OS/2 fell to the side and Windows became the favored PC platform. Some years later, Microsoft
s Internet Explorer web browser displaced Netscape s Navigator, in a turn of events that many
attributed to Microsoft s inclusion of Internet Explorer in Windows at no extra charge. An opposing
view is that the inclusion in Windows was less important in Internet Explorer s adoption than
Microsoft s improvement of the browser s features to a level comparable with Navigator. As the
architect of Microsoft s product strategy, Gates has aggressively broadened the company s range of
products and, once it has obtained a leading position in a category, has vigorously defended that
position. His and other Microsoft executives strategic decisions have more than once drawn the

INTRODUCTION:
PURPOSE OF THIS THESIS
1. Introduction
The theories and study on the multinational corporations (MNCs) internationalisation has been
prominent in the international business (IB) studies for many decades. Though earlier studies were
dominated by firms from the advanced economy in Europe, USA, and Japan. Therefore, is not
surprising that theories of MNCs internationalisation or foreign direct investment (FDI) would reflect
on the behaviour and perspectives of advanced economies firms. Such theories, for example, ... Show

economy, for example taking advantage of their home country favourable economic policies and

IQ Tests are Not an Accurate Measure of a Person s...
IQ tests are not an accurate measure of a person s intelligence. I will be analyzing the reasons why I
think that IQ tests are not an accurate measure of the intelligence. These reasons will be accompanied
with solid proven facts that will discount the accuracy that is falsely considered to be a part of IQ
tests. Today IQ tests are a part of many instances where intelligence is being judged.
Not an accurate measure The test that has today evolved as the IQ test was initially designed by Sir
Francis Galton. He had designed it to differentiate between the abnormal and normal intellectual
growth in children at that time. The capacities that he tested or that are generally tested today have not
been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another issue, with these tests are that many a time people view their criteria as very limited. For, e.g.
Gardner has claimed that there are multi dimensions to a person s intelligence, while these tests only
test a few of them. Thus, the tests are in no position to claim that they really represent the actual
intelligence of a person. The tests assess only a narrow range of abilities therefore if a person is adept
at a characteristic that is not being tested in the test then that person is deemed to be considered a
person with low IQ. Such a practice is not fair and cannot be generalized. (Gardner, 1983) (Plucker,
1998). A big argument is that the word Intelligence has not been defined in its full context yet.
Therefore, when a thing has not been understood properly then how can we design measures to gauge
them. Walter Lippmann a journalist from the 1920s said: We cannot measure intelligence when we
have not defined it. And I totally agree to it because to this day we have not decided upon the
characteristic of intelligence. It contains very many things and to narrow it down to a few would be
like being biased. Many characteristic has been defined, but many to this day remain unknown or
unexplainable. Jean Piaget has said that intelligence us never stagnant it grows and develops as

A Process For The Patient And Family Unit Essay
Cancer survivorship transitioning is a process for the patient and family unit. Patients and families
navigate to a new normal . Current transitioning from oncology care to primary care leaves a gap in
continuity of care. Patients must adapt to a change in the health care regimen. Patients and their
families may feel anxiety, returning to primary care, or patients and their families may have
psychological distress as vigilance becomes more ominous in primary care. Cancer survivors
transitioning from oncology care to primary care at a rural Minnesota health care facility may not
receive the same vigilance of all the biopsychosocial elements obtained in oncology care; there is no
standardization of screening for psychological distress by a cancer survivor in primary care unless
patient and/or family self reports or provider recognizes apparent symptoms of the psychological
distress.
Purpose of Project
The PICOT question is: In cancer survivors and their families residing in a Minnesota rural population
(P), how does the initiation of the Distress Thermometer screening tool to monitor psychological
distress (I) compared to patient self report (C) soften the impact of transitioning to primary care after
oncology care (O) during a three month period (T).

Regarding The Topic Of Theism, One Must Take Into...
Regarding the topic of theism, one must take into consideration several factors when justifying or
repudiating its reasonableness due to its subjective and therefore controversial nature, it is quite
difficult to say precisely whether theism is justified or otherwise. Personally, I am not convinced of
either position yet, and as a recently converted Christian (in other words, I am still relatively new to
the ideals surrounding western theology) both arguments seem plausible and require further thought.
On one hand, theistic belief has existed for centuries upon centuries for so long, theism has ingrained
itself into the cultures and lifestyles of those who believe in a higher power, with Sunday becoming a
holy day and holidays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humanity has a clear desire to understand and have answers, and perhaps they turn to theism in order
to justify these ideas in which case, theism is perfectly justified. It yields its purpose to explaining the
wonders of the world. Today, individuals use theistic beliefs to explain phenomenons such as miracles,
personal revelations, and supernatural concepts rather than using it to justify science and laws of
nature as their ancient ancestors may have done. However, in any case, both modern and ancient
believers seek to know, and to live, beneath the surfaces of life, and to be aware of the realities
beneath the superficialities (Robertson Davies, The Lyre of Orpheus). Indulging in theistic belief gives
more meaning to life for these particular individuals, and perhaps the common consensus of a widely
accepted faith an organized religion and place of worship further solidifies these beliefs. Additionally,
several arguments exist in order to justify theism, including the argument from design and the
ontological, cosmological, moral arguments. Taking logical, empirical, and moral considerations into
thought, the philosophical justification of theism holds; yet there are corresponding rebuttals that raise
skepticism within my scientific self. For example, in The Analogy of the Watch by William Paley, a
hypothetical situation arises in which one finds a pocket watch in the middle of the woods upon its
discovery, one would figure that the laws

Varsity Race Descriptive Writing
The Varsity Race
As you approach a huge green field with freshly cut grass, swarmed with anxious girls, you start to
observe what is in front of you. The field is full of different colored flags; red, blue and yellow that

sources, discussed how the result of an aim is affected by hope . The results that I gained from my
research have shown that people can t achieve their dreams in the lack of hope. Hope is the
irreplaceable element of success.
The dictionary gives a basic meaning of hope, but the explanation of the word is deficient. The Oxford
dictionary, an online dictionary which is created by The Oxford University, defines hope as to want
something to happen and think that is possible (Hope). The denotation by The Oxford dictionary
vitiates the true meaning of the word hope . To want something to happen (Hope) can be the
explanation of require/desire, however, simplifying hope like that would be ignoring the effects of
hope which are beyond desiring. After the requirement, having hope for the aim would help in the
process of achieving. Defining second part of hope as to think something is possible (Hope) would be
insufficient because hope can make people believe and attach themselves to their aim even though in
the situations which are called impossible. With this belief, hope can make people

Theme Of Isolation In Catcher In The Rye
P.7 According to Merriam Webster, isolation is defined as to set apart from others . The novel, The
Catcher in the Rye and the film, Rebel Without a Cause both show how isolation affected certain
characters. In The Catcher in the Rye, Holden is isolated from the community around him. In Rebel
Without a Cause, Plato is as well isolated, he doesn t have a relationship with anyone at his school or
at home. Holden and Plato are similar in the way that they both struggle with isolation because they
cannot make a personal connection or relate to anyone in their lives. Holden s isolation stems from
superiority, while Plato s isolations stems from an inferiority complex. Holden shows many instances
of isolation throughout the book because he thinks that he is superior to everyone. For instance,
Holden was at Ernie s he was listening to Ernie playing the piano, he started to complain about how
pathetic it was that Ernie was playing the piano for a crowd. Anyway, when he was finished, and
everybody was clapping their heads off, old Ernie turned around on his stool and gave this very phony,
humble bow. Like as if he was a helluva humble guy... It was very phony I mean him being such a big
snob and all (110). Holden was jealous of Ernie because people were drawn to him and they like him.
Holden immediately concludes that there is a problem with Ernie. He does that because he thinks that
he is superior to everyone and that everyone else has the problem and not him. Holden s mindset of

The Consequences Of Capitalism And Authenticity
Capitalism or Authenticity Considering the way in which people live their lives these days, it can be
noted that they are not living a balanced life; if a balanced life is to be considered as the life which
includes both capitalistic involvement and family time in equal portions . Every average individual
favors a capitalistic world, and this desire brings many complications which result in unbalanced
lifestyles. That is mainly because capitalism requires time dedication which people willingly dedicate,
and this obstructs the gateway to the balanced life. Hence, people are unable to spend an equal amount
of time with their families as they are at their workplace. Families and friends can provide the people
with genuine happiness and a stress free environment, the two factors that capitalism fails in providing
even if the people, like Adam Gopnik, love the career life they re living. people s minds are soaked
with the idea that capitalism will lead them to success, to living the life they want in the future, so they
continue to become an active part of the capitalistic world. However, although capitalism rewards the
people with money, which is the number one concern for many, it fails in rewarding the people with a
balanced lifestyle. Due to the increasing interest in joining the capitalistic life, individuals believe
successful capitalists have to be very productive and so they spend hours and hours of their valuable
time putting their maximum effort in becoming

Character Of Joseph Simmons In April Morning By Howard Fast
April Morning by Howard Fast takes place near Lexington, Massachusetts, on the verge of the
American Revolution. The story takes just a day, which is on April 18th, 1775. One person who stands
out in the story is Joseph Simmons; he is a man vs. society individual. Joseph has many traits to
describe him, but the three main ones are nice, brave, and strong. Joseph can be described as being
nice. One example is when the committee had appointed him to write a statement on the rights of man,
to which they would all put their names, and which would be posted to Boston. In Adam s opinion,
Joseph was a nice enough man, but when it came to the fine points of disputation, he simply wasn t
there. (20) This shows that even though Joseph was a poor choice to speak in front of the committee,
he was nice enough to do it. Another example is when everyone was making a plan to prevent the war;
Cousin Simmons came and comforted Adam. Cousin Simmons came to me and put an arm around my
shoulder. It s a long night, Adam. he smiled. (89) From both these examples, it is clear that Joseph is
always a nice person. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is apparent when Joseph came to the center of the common to go against the British. At the same
time, Cousin Simmons came from another direction, carrying an iron torch with a pitch cup at the top
of it. (82) This shows that Joseph is brave enough to show up and be prepared for anything. In
addition, while Cousin Simmons and Adam were walking, they saw three men that had stripped a dead
corpse of his musket and equipment, and now they were pulling his boots and jacket off. Simmons
chases away the corpse robbers, yet when Adam is ready to go home, to live and let live. (147) For
these reasons, Joseph is

`` Everything But The Coffee ``
Bryant Simon s novel, Everything but the Coffee, sought to expose the exploitations of the famous
coffee company, Starbucks, by unveiling the corporation true s intention on selling its over priced
coffee laced with disguises of false lies and advertisement. In the selected passage, Simon describes
Starbucks as a typical corporate business, and that the company advertises to sell its product through
false claims. Ethical consumption means that the consumers use their buying power to affect political
outcomes or raise political consciousness (203). In other words, consumers use money to buy products
from companies to spread awareness, or provide a solution to it. Simon states that Starbucks changes
its image and portrays itself as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter seven, it was stated that the coffee shop company do not completely buy from the small
time farmers. In case regarding towards Rwanda, a developing area where Starbucks supposedly
performs fair trade, it was discovered that Starbucks buy their coffee beans from bigger plantations
and the middle man, who buys coffee beans from small time farmers usually scamming them (216).
This creation of image of Starbucks being a good corporate business in helping the small time farmers
earn more income is contracted by Simon s findings, and shows that the coffee company is actually
taking advantage of the small time farmers, when Starbucks buys from the middle man or the big
plantation owners, it pay less for the coffee beans than they do if Starbucks purchases beans from
small time farmers. The greed of Starbucks at the expense of the individual farmers is unethical, yet
the coffee shop company markets the contradiction.
In the beginning of the chapter, Simon discusses on the issue of Starbucks and its profits on stories
that the company sells on how they help the farmers in third world countries like Nicaragua. Simon
traveled to Nicaragua and met Santiago Rivera. Rivera s cultivation of coffee beans was his life
profession, for much of his life, he lugged hundred pound burlap sacks of green coffee...sold his
crop...to a middleman..at this point, Rivera got doubly cheated...buyer might swindle him on the

Frierdiker Rebbe Sacrifice
A story along these lines is told of the Frierdiker Rebbe, occurring when he travelled to Israel in 5689
(1929). On route, his ship docked for a short while at the port of Alexandria, in Egypt. As the
Frierdiker Rebbe waited for the voyage to resume, there was a knock on the door of his cabin. The
door opened and a man carrying a large basket of magnificent fruit entered. The man broke down in
tears almost immediately. As he wept with great emotion, the Frierdiker Rebbe looked on in
astonishment. Finally, the man calmed down enough to recount his story. When I was a little boy, my
grandfather went to see your grandfather, the Rebbe Maharash. He brought me along so that the Rebbe
could bless me. When we entered your grandfather s room, you

A Rhetorical Analysis Of By Gimme Shelter By The Rolling...
Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones is influential because it talks about the chaos surrounding the
Vietnam War and protests concerning the war. The Rolling Stones believe that the chaos of war has
spread outside the realms of war as was traditionally known. The Rolling Stones have never shyed
away from controversy so a politically charged song was not inconcievable. Gimme Shelter was
written and released in 1969 in the thick of the Vietnam War and the height of it s subsequent protest.
The Vietnam War was known as The Living Room War because it was the first consistently televised
war and with the increased presence of television in culture avoiding coverage of the war and its
subsequent protests was impossible. Mick Jagger speaks to this ... Show more content on

In Gimme Shelter , The Rolling Stones sing, see the fire is sweeping our very street today , this shows
the frenzy and the extent of war protests in the late sixties. Prior to 1965, opposition to the Vietnam
War was primarily a leftist view but due to efforts by returning vetrans and media publications a broad
majority of Americans felt indifferent towards involvement in the war. High profile figures such as
Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., Jane Fonda, Muhhamed Ali, and John Lennon had all been
outspoken opponents of the war. American religious groups took a pascifist view and called for peace
as soon as possible. In 1968 there were 221 protests at 101 universities as over 16,000 Americans were
killed in Vietnam during that year and public awareness of atrocities committed by the United States
in Vietnam was heightened. By the end of the 1960 s protesting had become violent as indicated by
the line in Gimme Shelter , gimme shelter or i m going to fade away which speaks to the feeling of
danger and closeness to the war in citizen s daily lives and the need for escapement. A faction of the

of governemnt property and war materials they were known as the Weather Underground or the

Police Ethics and Deviance
Police Ethics and Deviance
Ethics and the police is a subject that most people are interested in. When people use the words ethics
and police in the same sentence, people usually think of police deviance, police corruption,
misconducts such as drug and alcohol abuse, sexual violence, domestic disputes, and violence within
families. Most common subjects people most associate with police ethics is police brutality, police
deception, and abuse of their authority. Police officers in the United States are given tremendous
authority and wide latitude in using that authority. In addition, to the average citizen, the police are the
most visible symbol of not only the United States criminal justice system but also the United States ...

However, it is not particularly obvious where brutality, discrimination, and misconduct end and
corruption begins. (2002, December) Police misconduct happens as a result of police corruption.
Types of misconduct include: false confessions, false arrest, falsified evidence, false imprisonment,
intimidation, police brutality, police corruption, political repression, racial profiling, sexual abuse, and
surveillance abuse. Police misconduct also includes accepting bribes, improper search and seizures,
harassment and racism in law enforcement. Police misconduct violates the oath of peace officers and
their responsibilities as public servants. Victims of police misconduct can be wrongfully accused and
convicted of crimes they did not even commit. Police misconduct also creates distrust between police
and the public that they are meant to serve and protect. Police misconduct often goes uncorrected
because people are not aware or understand their rights as citizens. Informed citizens can prevent
police misconduct and avert violence, wrongful convictions, and abuse of authority. Police misconduct
is the exception that most police officers are law abiding citizens, but when misconduct occurs, police
departments seem to be oblivious and fail to address the problem appropriately. (2002, November)

123rd Street Rap Poem Analysis
The theme of 123rd Street rap is one that can t be compared to any other poem. The reason for this is
that it has such a deep reality to it and it is only a poem. One good reason to love this poem is it show
someone to appreciate the life that one has and to not take what you have for granted. The line
Automatic bullets bounce off stoop steps (Perdomo 2) should make anyone who doesn t live this
everyday reality appreciate the life that they live. The poet saw the life that people have to live and put
it into words and makes you understand in just a few lines. Perdomo really paints a picture in the eyes
of someone who goes through a harsh upbringing. It is evident to see that the person that he is talking
about is having an internal conflict. This is noticeable by the description of the neighborhood, even
though it is described to be a beautiful place it is also made out to be a very violent place that many
may not survive. The author uses theme is a clear but unclear way making the reader realize that life is
all about how one can perceive it weather the situation is good or bad. When first reading this poem
the theme might be hard to understand for some but with lines such as Church bells bong for drunken
mourners (Perdomo 6) it is evident that it is one that should be taken into consideration. The mentality
of Perdomo is visible to comprehend with his downplay of life in Harlem. Although he uses bad things
to describe life below the poverty line in this city he able to

Iago, the Outsider of Shakespeare’s Othello
In any story with a recurring dark theme there always must be an outsider from humanity who
somehow stands out from the seemingly equal community. In the case of Shakespeare s Othello the
outsider from humanity would be Iago for he truly stands out from the rest of society. Although
Othello may be physically put out of the community, it seems that on an emotional and egotistical
level Iago puts himself out of society further then Othello s blackness does. He is not merely
manipulative, as other villains are; he turns aspects of truth and good qualities, which he does not
possess, and uses them as weakness for his own scheme. He deceives people to follow his plans by
telling them the truth and what seems to be good advice. By standing on ... Show more content on

Iago has no conscience and therefore unlike Othello or any other tragic hero asks for no redemption.
One of Iago s astucious qualities is his ability to take the good quality of others and use them against
them. He takes it even further, however, as he has no realization of the evil he has done. Iago suspects
Othello may have slept with his wife. He is not positive, but says that surety is not necessary.
Iago
But for my sport and profit. I hate the Moor,
And it is thought abroad that twixt my sheets
H as done my office. I know not if t be true,
But I, for mere suspicion in that kind,
Will do, as if for surety. (I, iii, 379 381)
This shows how Iago isn t really concerned about Emilia being unfaithful with Othello or anyone for
that matter. He just wants to ruin Othello beyond reason.
Iago takes what most of us see as good and uses those traits against characters in the play. He is able
to take something as pure as Othello and Desdemona s love or Cassio s loyalty as a weakness that he
can pounce on. He holds me well; The better shall my purpose work on him. (I, iii, 381 382) Iago
possesses no good qualities so as a jealous pay back he takes trust and turns it against the trusting and
then tries to take it even further for himself.
Iago
Cassio s a proper man. Let me see now;
To get his place, and to plume up my will
In double knavery. How? How? Let s

Vladimir Lenin And The Bolshevik Revolution
According to the History.com Staff, The October Revolution began on November 6 and 7, 1917 (or
October 24 and 25 on the Julian calendar). (Russian Revolution ). The October Revolution has also
been called the Bolshevik Revolution since the Bolshevik Party played a crucial role in the revolution.
The leader of the Bolshevik Party, Vladimir Lenin was a big supporter of Karl Marx. Another Marxist
who leads this revolution was Leon Trotsky. In an article by the History.com Staff, Lenin had created
an, almost, bloodless coup d état against the provisional government. ( Russian Revolution ). The
Bolshevik revolution started when, Alexander Kerensky, rather than follow an order. On October 24th,
Kerensky ordered troops that were loyal, to act against the Bolshevik. Encyclopædia Britannica tells
us that, Kerensky was a socialist revolutionary who served as head of the Russian Provisional
Government. ( Aleksandr Kerensky ).
According to History.com Staff, The provisional government had created a group of leaders from
Russia s bourgeois capitalist class. Lenin would alternatively call for a Soviet state that would be
controlled directly by councils of workers, peasants, and soldiers. ( Russian Revolution ). Both
decided that the Soviets was going to be a useful instrument in the next revolution. They didn t want
the Soviets to have all the power until they could control them. In the book, Rise and fall of
Communism 2009, Archie Brown shows us that, On 12 October, according to the old calendar,
Trotsky took command of the Military Revolutionary Committee of the Petrograd Soviet and on 25
October...the Bolsheviks seized power in Petrograd (Brown 51). Insurrection was to start, but there
were complications with the date set. In the book, The History of the Russian Revolution 1960, Leon
Trotsky says, At a session of the Petrograd Soviet on the 18th, Trotsky, in answer to a question raised
by the enemy, declared that the Soviet had not set a date for an insurrection, in the coming days, but
that if it became necessary to set one, the workers and soldiers would come out as one man (Trotsky
162). There were forty thousand workers in the army of Petrograd.
On the 22nd of October, there was a meeting of the Red

  • 2. The Absolutely True Diary Of A Part Time Indian And Jin... INTRODUCTION ~ THESIS When evaluating Arnold Junior Spirit from Sherman Alexie s The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian and Jin Wang from Gene Luen Yang s American Born Chinese, similarities radiate in both characters as their disparity in race deem the two of them as outcasts in the entirety of society. In addition to their lack of social interactions, their uniformity in their impulsive decisions cost them each a dear friend. Although Junior and Jin are quite similar, they share differences in the way Junior tries bettering himself by fitting into both his Indian and Reardan culture whereas Jin changes himself in every possible way to become Americanized. *** The correspondence between Junior and Jin is detected in both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A world once filled with Asian friends and neighbors crashes harshly as Jin is left stranded in a white dominated school. Stereotypes and teasing are quickly placed on him from his racial background. Still new to the area, Jin presumes, The only other Asian in my class was Suzy Nakamura. When the class finally figured out that we weren t related, rumors began to circulate that Suzy and I were arranged to be married on her thirteenth birthday. We avoided each other as much as possible (Yang 31). Embarrassment clouds Jin as he realizes that he s not like the other kids in his class. With distinct features and his native tongue, Jin felt like a reject surrounded by his Caucasian classmates. He was entirely alone amongst his peers, and he didn t like that one single bit. In this way, it s clear how both Junior and Jin felt like outcasts in these two oceans of white students and teachers. *** Acknowledged in both novels, Junior and Jin s spontaneous actions leave them both friendless and bruised. In Junior s case, this meant ditching the reservation s schooling system and finding one that surpasses the education he was taught. In the spur of the moment, Junior decides to do just that and attend an all white school in the neighboring town. Getting the courage to tell his best friend, Junior braces himself for Rowdy s reaction. Denial embedded his friend s senses; remoteness then trickled its way through his head ... • 3. Exploring Ways Of Assist And Or Intervene At Risk Students The purpose of this study is to explore ways to assist and/or intervene at risk students in order to set them on the path towards graduation. The NCES reported the graduation rate declined from 12% to 7% during 1990 2013. These are good improvements, however, we must continue take the necessary steps to lower these numbers for future generations. Graduation will open up a world of opportunities that might not other wise be available to them without a high school diploma. According to an article in PBS Frontline in 2012, an individual without a high school diploma can earn, a national average of, $20,241 a year. That is $10,386 less than a person who graduated from high school. $10,000 does not sound like a lot of money spread out over an entire year, but it averages out to be an extra $200 a week. In my opinion, that is significant. Someone who goes on to earn their bachelor degree can expect to earn an additional $36,364 per year. What many students do not understand is that without high school graduation they cannot enter the military or qualify for many lower scale jobs as these require a diploma or high school equivalency. There are so many factors that contribute to a student s decision to stay in school or to dropout but if communities and schools can intervene, maybe the national dropout rate can be lowered lending to a better life for all involved. For the last eleven years I have worked with at risk high school students in an alternative school associated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stability operations by definition assist in supporting the host nation government by establishing civil security, civil control, supporting the host nation government (HN), restoring essential services, and assisting in infrastructure and economic improvements. In order for stability operations to be effective, there must be a complete and thorough analysis of the lines of effort (LOE), identification of risks and mitigation techniques with the intention of advance the desired end state. The LOE Establish Civil Security advances the desired end state of creating a Safe and Secure Environment by shaping the environment into one, which promotes safety, security and stability for the residents where conflict has taken place, until such time that the HN government can assume responsibility for these functions. • 5. Different Interpretations Of A Privileged Life As a white male living in the United States of America, one could say that I am privileged. However, whether or not I live a privileged life is a matter of comparison. There are certainly people who are more privileged, and absolutely people who are less. It is not likely that one will find the definition of a privileged life in a dictionary. Simply put, it is too hard to fit such a broad meaning into the three or so lines of an average definition. There are many different interpretations of the meaning, and this essay s purpose is to explain the differences between them. People may look at their life in times of disparity and think to themselves that they do not lead a privileged life. The problem that lay within those people is that they are sitting in their heated home, laying on their memory foam mattress, and eating a warm home cooked meal. The reality of the situation is that there remain others with far worse situations than the one that particular person is in. Someone might make a choice to lead their life the way that a less privileged person would. For example, the documentary Living on one follows four college students who travel to Guatemala and live off one dollar a day. The four students say We knew that we d never be able to truly replicate poverty but we did believe that this would be a valuable experience and a great way of sharing the stories of our neighbors as well. Female circumcision in Africa is completed in order to prove that the female is going to be able to endure life s hardships, and that she will be able to handle responsibility when older. Muslims believe females must get circumcised in order to curb the female s sexual desire. After the procedure, the women are expected to get married and start their own families. This procedure is usually done on young girls between infancy and the age of 15, most likely before puberty starts. The procedure is traditionally carried out by a woman with no medical training. Anesthetics and antiseptic treatments are not normally used, and the practice is usually carried out using knives, scissors, and scalpels, pieces of glass or razor blades. Girls are sometimes put down in restraints. There are some immediate and long term effects to this procedure including, severe pain, shock, bleeding, HIV and hepatitis, abnormal periods, complication in pregnancy and pain in sex. It can also sometimes lead to death. Surgery can be performed to open up the lower vagina called the reversal , although it cannot restore sensitive tissue that has been removed. Surgery may be necessary for women who are unable to have intercourse, as the vagina is too narrow. In addition, some pregnant women who have had FGM will need to have their lower vagina opened up before labor, to allow a safer birth. FGM increases the risk of the vagina tearing during delivery, which causes damage and can lead to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Famous protesters such as Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and Assata Shakur. In particular, Assata Shakur was a leader of the Black Power Movement (BPM). Through her struggles, Shakur educates her audience, this is written on a blog but spoken out loud at the time, on how there is racial bias and injustice. The rulers of this country have always considered their property more important than our lives. They call us murderers, but we were not responsible for the twenty eight brother inmates and nine hostages murdered at attica (17). Providing examples of tyranny and accusations personify the evil that the legal system has against African Americans and further digs the idea that every officer is out there hunting them down. Repeating the phrase They call us murderers... Shakur demonstrates that the police are blaming the murders as a community fight or placing the blame on an African American because it is convenient (15 19). The repetition in the beginning of each sentence proves that African Americans were blamed for murders that they did not commit. To further push her purpose of joining the BPM and protect the African American population, Shakur persuades her audience to observe the injustices and accusations happening. Close to finishing her speech, Shakur profoundly speaks by translating ethos and allusions to benefit the BPM. Credibility travels deeper into the mind when a speaker addresses an audience and Shakur recalls that, they call us kidnappers, yet Brother Clark Squires (who is accused, along with me, of murdering a new jersey state trooper) was kidnapped on April z, 1969...Brother Squires was innocent. The ideal image of nuclear family used to be described as a male husband, a female wife and their kids; however, in few decades, the term family has become diverse without any blood related relationships. Because of this recent change of family values, it is easy to find that present television shows also reflect the new concept of family and influence the recognition of the viewers at the same time. Among many TV programs such as Simpsons , F is for family and How I met your mother , Modern Family is a representative show dealing with modern family types and values. Josephine helped out France in every way she could: performing for troops, being an honorable correspondent for the French Resistance (smuggling secret messages), and serving as a sub lieutenant in the Women s Auxiliary Air Force (About). For her efforts, she was later awarded the Medal of the Resistance with Rosette and dubbed a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor by the French government. In the 50s and 60s, Josephine returned to the United States to help fight racism. She refused to perform in any club or theatre that was not integrated (Lewis). This resulted in the breaking of the color bar in many establishments, especially in Las Vegas. May 20 was named Josephine Baker day by the NAACP for her efforts. • 11. Arthur Miller s Death Of A Salesman An Analysis of Tragic Heroism of Biff Loman in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller This literary study will define the tragic heroism of Biff Loman in Arthur Miller s play The Death of a Salesman. Biff is initially a victim of Willy s continual harassment to make more money and find a better career. In this family unit, Biff must endure the unrealistic and fantasy based elusions of his father in his fanatical pursuit of the American Dream. However, Biff soon learns of Willy s extra marital betrayal to his mother, which allows him to experience an epiphany against the self deception of his father s abusive fantasy world. Biffs tragic role in this family is found in the ability to accept reality and overcome the victim role imposed on him by his father. This tragic aspect of Biffs heroism defines a single voice of reason in a self deceiving family unit, which defines his liberation from his father s tyrannical behavior. In essence, Biffs tragic heroism will be examined by analyzing the journey towards self realization in Arthur Miller s The Death of a Salesman. The beginning of Miller s play presents Willy Loman, a failed salesman that is continually putting pressure on his children to get better jobs and make more money. Willy s pursuit of the American Dream exploits Biff and Happy as a type of retirement plan in this materialistic mindset: You ll retire me for life on seventy goddamn dollars a week? (Miller 28). Some years later, Microsoft s Internet Explorer web browser displaced Netscape s Navigator, in a turn of events that many attributed to Microsoft s inclusion of Internet Explorer in Windows at no extra charge. An opposing view is that the inclusion in Windows was less important in Internet Explorer s adoption than Microsoft s improvement of the browser s features to a level comparable with Navigator. As the architect of Microsoft s product strategy, Gates has aggressively broadened the company s range of products and, once it has obtained a leading position in a category, has vigorously defended that position. Today IQ tests are a part of many instances where intelligence is being judged. Not an accurate measure The test that has today evolved as the IQ test was initially designed by Sir Francis Galton. He had designed it to differentiate between the abnormal and normal intellectual growth in children at that time. The capacities that he tested or that are generally tested today have not been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another issue, with these tests are that many a time people view their criteria as very limited. For, e.g. Gardner has claimed that there are multi dimensions to a person s intelligence, while these tests only test a few of them. Thus, the tests are in no position to claim that they really represent the actual intelligence of a person. The tests assess only a narrow range of abilities therefore if a person is adept at a characteristic that is not being tested in the test then that person is deemed to be considered a person with low IQ. Such a practice is not fair and cannot be generalized. (Gardner, 1983) (Plucker, 1998). A big argument is that the word Intelligence has not been defined in its full context yet. Therefore, when a thing has not been understood properly then how can we design measures to gauge them. Walter Lippmann a journalist from the 1920s said: We cannot measure intelligence when we have not defined it. And I totally agree to it because to this day we have not decided upon the characteristic of intelligence. It contains very many things and to narrow it down to a few would be like being biased. Many characteristic has been defined, but many to this day remain unknown or unexplainable. Jean Piaget has said that intelligence us never stagnant it grows and develops as ... • 16. A Process For The Patient And Family Unit Essay Cancer survivorship transitioning is a process for the patient and family unit. Patients and families navigate to a new normal . Current transitioning from oncology care to primary care leaves a gap in continuity of care. Patients must adapt to a change in the health care regimen. Patients and their families may feel anxiety, returning to primary care, or patients and their families may have psychological distress as vigilance becomes more ominous in primary care. Cancer survivors transitioning from oncology care to primary care at a rural Minnesota health care facility may not receive the same vigilance of all the biopsychosocial elements obtained in oncology care; there is no standardization of screening for psychological distress by a cancer survivor in primary care unless patient and/or family self reports or provider recognizes apparent symptoms of the psychological distress. Purpose of Project The PICOT question is: In cancer survivors and their families residing in a Minnesota rural population (P), how does the initiation of the Distress Thermometer screening tool to monitor psychological distress (I) compared to patient self report (C) soften the impact of transitioning to primary care after oncology care (O) during a three month period (T). Regarding the topic of theism, one must take into consideration several factors when justifying or repudiating its reasonableness due to its subjective and therefore controversial nature, it is quite difficult to say precisely whether theism is justified or otherwise. Personally, I am not convinced of either position yet, and as a recently converted Christian (in other words, I am still relatively new to the ideals surrounding western theology) both arguments seem plausible and require further thought. On one hand, theistic belief has existed for centuries upon centuries for so long, theism has ingrained itself into the cultures and lifestyles of those who believe in a higher power, with Sunday becoming a holy day and holidays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Humanity has a clear desire to understand and have answers, and perhaps they turn to theism in order to justify these ideas in which case, theism is perfectly justified. It yields its purpose to explaining the wonders of the world. Today, individuals use theistic beliefs to explain phenomenons such as miracles, personal revelations, and supernatural concepts rather than using it to justify science and laws of nature as their ancient ancestors may have done. However, in any case, both modern and ancient believers seek to know, and to live, beneath the surfaces of life, and to be aware of the realities beneath the superficialities (Robertson Davies, The Lyre of Orpheus). Indulging in theistic belief gives more meaning to life for these particular individuals, and perhaps the common consensus of a widely accepted faith an organized religion and place of worship further solidifies these beliefs. Additionally, several arguments exist in order to justify theism, including the argument from design and the ontological, cosmological, moral arguments. Taking logical, empirical, and moral considerations into thought, the philosophical justification of theism holds; yet there are corresponding rebuttals that raise skepticism within my scientific self. For example, in The Analogy of the Watch by William Paley, a hypothetical situation arises in which one finds a pocket watch in the middle of the woods upon its discovery, one would figure that the laws ... A Search for Hope Famous English poet and playwright William Shakespeare uses hope in King Richard III as True hope is swift, and flies with swallow s wings: Kings it makes gods, and meaner creatures kings (Shakespeare). Shakespeare likens hope to wings that elevate people during its existence, a power which strengthens people. During my research different sources, from academic writings to visual sources, discussed how the result of an aim is affected by hope . The results that I gained from my research have shown that people can t achieve their dreams in the lack of hope. Hope is the irreplaceable element of success. The dictionary gives a basic meaning of hope, but the explanation of the word is deficient. The Oxford dictionary, an online dictionary which is created by The Oxford University, defines hope as to want something to happen and think that is possible (Hope). The denotation by The Oxford dictionary vitiates the true meaning of the word hope . To want something to happen (Hope) can be the explanation of require/desire, however, simplifying hope like that would be ignoring the effects of hope which are beyond desiring. After the requirement, having hope for the aim would help in the process of achieving. Defining second part of hope as to think something is possible (Hope) would be insufficient because hope can make people believe and attach themselves to their aim even though in the situations which are called impossible. In Rebel Without a Cause, Plato is as well isolated, he doesn t have a relationship with anyone at his school or at home. Holden and Plato are similar in the way that they both struggle with isolation because they cannot make a personal connection or relate to anyone in their lives. Holden s isolation stems from superiority, while Plato s isolations stems from an inferiority complex. Holden shows many instances of isolation throughout the book because he thinks that he is superior to everyone. For instance, Holden was at Ernie s he was listening to Ernie playing the piano, he started to complain about how pathetic it was that Ernie was playing the piano for a crowd. Anyway, when he was finished, and everybody was clapping their heads off, old Ernie turned around on his stool and gave this very phony, humble bow. Like as if he was a helluva humble guy... It was very phony I mean him being such a big snob and all (110). Holden was jealous of Ernie because people were drawn to him and they like him. The Consequences Of Capitalism And Authenticity Capitalism or Authenticity Considering the way in which people live their lives these days, it can be noted that they are not living a balanced life; if a balanced life is to be considered as the life which includes both capitalistic involvement and family time in equal portions . Every average individual favors a capitalistic world, and this desire brings many complications which result in unbalanced lifestyles. That is mainly because capitalism requires time dedication which people willingly dedicate, and this obstructs the gateway to the balanced life. Hence, people are unable to spend an equal amount of time with their families as they are at their workplace. Families and friends can provide the people with genuine happiness and a stress free environment, the two factors that capitalism fails in providing even if the people, like Adam Gopnik, love the career life they re living. people s minds are soaked with the idea that capitalism will lead them to success, to living the life they want in the future, so they continue to become an active part of the capitalistic world. The reason for this is that it has such a deep reality to it and it is only a poem. One good reason to love this poem is it show someone to appreciate the life that one has and to not take what you have for granted. The line Automatic bullets bounce off stoop steps (Perdomo 2) should make anyone who doesn t live this everyday reality appreciate the life that they live. The poet saw the life that people have to live and put it into words and makes you understand in just a few lines.
