Pressure Washing Process Paper
Pressure washing is one quick and thorough way to clean the exterior of your house. Owing to the
scale of the operation, you may want to hire a contractor to do the job for you. Then you ll have to
make sure the service provider you choose is fully qualified for the task. Otherwise, you run the risk
of incurring costly damage to your property.
Below are a few pointers that can help you in your search for a pressure washing contractor that will
get the job done correctly. There are also additional tips for dealing with the contractor you choose
while the job is ongoing and when it is done.
1. Become Educated. It pays to have a clear understanding of what is involved in power washing. Be
aware that exterior damage can possibly occur with this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consult. A sound contractor will welcome the opportunity to examine your site, ask questions and note
any potential areas of concern. These contractors will pay attention to your needs and decide what
type of service you need and expect. In addition, they will also go over with you the advantages and
limitations of the service that they provide. As you meet with different contractors, be sure to question
them on the specifications of the service, exact procedures, outcome and potential for damage. You
will then be able to get a clearer picture of the service and decide which contractor to award the job.
4. Request a Methods Listing. This list will summarize and outline the steps that the contractor will
take during the project. It maybe part of an estimate or on an entirely different piece of paper. The
methods listing is an excellent tool for comparing and contrasting potential pressure washing services
with one another.
5. Question Equipment Status. Does the contractor own the equipment or are they rented? Contractors
that either own or lease their equipment are typically more reliable and committed to their pressure
washing business. Contractors who rent equipment may be an indication that they are not as

The Matrix Movie Analysis
Danny Warren
ANTH 2306

Final Essay: Question 1
In contrast to a utopia, according to the power point provided in class a dystopia is an imaginary place
where people live dehumanized and often fearful lives. The movies The Matrix, 1999 and Avatar,
2009 overall seem to me as dystopian films. To show how each film portrays the different aspects of
perspectives on the future, and a dystopia, I m going to use the settings, actions, and outcomes of each
film.
The setting to me feels like the most important aspect of determining if a movie is a dystopia or not.
The Matrix takes places in a city called Zion, which is made up of many machines. The Matrix is a
computer program that humans are trapped in without knowing, and they assume they are just living a
regular life, but they are not. The real world they live in is being overrun by machines that are trying
to end all existence of human life. Humans do not live regular lives in this movie. Either they are
being brain washed through the matrix, or out fighting machines to save Zion, the world they live in.
According to the article, Dystopian Themes in Film, a dystopian usually consist of people in which
they live a dehumanized life. Dehumanization is the exact words I would use to describe the humans
that are depicted in this film. Humans are not even given a proper birth; they are manufactured in an
abnormal machine. In relation to the perspectives of the future, Neo wants to get the people out of
bondage, so they can see their reality and work towards making life better in the real word.
The movie Avatar takes place in a world that is inhabited by the Na vi called Pandora. Avatars are
human minds, transferred into the body of the Na vi species so that the humans are better equipped
when dealing with the world of Pandora. Humans infiltrate this land to take away this precious stone
that is locked away underground. To get to this stone they must take away the homeland of the natives
living there. The setting Pandora is a very mystical place and has many animals, or monsters, from a
human s perspective. It is such a foreign place that humans are slowly adjusting to better understand it.
The Matrix deals with the human setting of the dystopia, and

Evaluation of a Strategy for Increase in Car Production
The Morgan motor company is a small conservative company that is based in the north of England
that is a producer of hand made, high quality cars. The purpose of the strategy is to identify the cause
of the problem that is currently meaning that Morgan can only produce around nine cars per week.
Despite this the company has much strength in the way that it operates, for example the company has
a background of being very traditional. Job production has provided a very highly skilled and
committed workforce and has enabled the production of a high quality.
The negative culture and resistance to change of the workforce and management has ... Show more

The company has become so outdated that it may be better for the company to begin from scratch.
In order to identify the causes of the problem the Morgan Company would need to carry out three
different studies, these are:
* A Works Study
* Market Research
* A analysis of the accounts and sales of the company
The main purpose of the works study would provide Morgan with the evidence of the problem within
the company and to highlight the specific problems in the company. For example the poor logistics
and layout of the factory which means that the cars have to be manually moved around the factory
from one stage to another. The works study will highlight the areas that need to be improved by the
business, and how they can be improved, for example the car is predominantly made by hand, can be
improved by the incorporation of tooling which is likely to make little difference to the nature and
finished quality of the product. The work study would highlight the problem of the length of
production for the product which is currently three months and how this could be improved. The work
study will be used to show the management and workforce the need for

Commentary on Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel
The novel Like Water for Chocolate is the story of a woman fighting tradition in quest for love and
freedom. The novel has diverse relations of apathy and love between the characters. The author
Esquivel illustrates these relations by the use of the colors red and white. Throughout the novel Like
Water for Chocolate, Laura Esquivel uses the colors red and white to symbolize love and apathy in the
relationships between the characters.
Laura Esquivel uses the color red to symbolize love and passion in relationships. In the following
quote Mamma Elena had come to get a sheet or something and had caught Tita red handed. (p. 136)

35) This quote shows that Tita is unable to see the red, in the icing, which symbolizes that she cannot
see the love in the marriage between Pedro and Rosaura since the marriage was arranged. What she
sees is the white icing of the cake that represents marriage, but not the red food coloring that
represents love. These two quotes both exhibit red being used as a symbol for love and passion.
Laura Esquivel also uses the color white, which represents apathy to contrast the feeling for love,
represented by the color red. Tita stood as if in a trance, starting at the whiteness of the sheets, only for
a few seconds. But long enough to cause a sort of blindness, wherever she looked she saw only white.
When she looked at Rosaura who was writing out some invitations she saw only a snowy ghost . This
quote also shows that Tita is fully aware that there is no love between Pedro and Rosaura. The quote
states that Tita was being blinded by the color white, because she can t accept that fact that her love is
going to marry her sister even though they do not love each other. Rosaura, who is the bride seemed
like a white snowy ghost to Tita because Pedro did not love her and she doesn t love Pedro.
In the next quote Laura Esquivel integrates both the colors red and white in one paragraph to
foreshadow Esperanza s doubtful future, The Earth swallowed

Acute Renal Failure (also called acute kidney failure) means that your kidneys have
Suddenly stopped working. Your kidneys remove waste products and help balance
water and salt and other minerals (electrolytes) in your blood. Acute Renal Failure is
dangerous because the kidney stop filtering toxin, waste and excess fluids from the
the body. Acute Renal Failure is often the result of an infection, an injury, major
surgery, or a condition called nephrotoxicity. It can also happen from an overdose of
drugs, or when the blood flow to a kidney is obstructed or blocked and this can cause
a damage to the kidney even death. There were three main causes of acute renal
failure (Prerenal, Intrarenal and Postrenal).
Prerenal The kidneys do not receive enough blood to filter that can cause multiple
complications such as disruption of the blood flow in the kidneys from a variety of
causes such as blockage or narrowing of a blood to the kidneys, liver failure causing
changes in hormones that affect blood flow and pressure to the kidneys, drastic drop in
blood pressure after surgery with blood loss, sever injury or burns, or infection in the

Emperor Qin s Essay
As Roy Bennett once said, Success is not how high you have climbed, but how you make a positive
difference to the world . In past civilizations, a commonality amongst leaders is that they would use
force and fear to secure their power over people. The reason being is to avoid future riots and the
possibility of losing their territory to the people they conquered or their very own. However, there
were moments in history where rulers exerted their dominance without having to ruin the lives of
innocent people. When rulers clear themselves from selfish desires they become someone who their
people look up to no matter what background, and that is what it means to be a true leader. Although it
is thanks to Emperor Qin of China that people today have artifacts and information about his dynasty,
he was one of those rulers whose actions did not help his people prosper. Even though installing
public construction projects are usually a positive factor in boosting the economy, it was a downfall
for the people under Emperor Qin s rule because the fatalities [rate] was high (Rossabi, 64), and he
implemented forced labor (64) for his projects. In fact many of his projects may have not been the
intention for his people but rather his army, noble families, and his own legacy because of the labor
force that went behind the creation of elaborate palaces (64). Although he implemented the
construction of better road systems which is normally seen as a benefit for the people for safer

American Renaissance Writers
The American Renaissance, in literary circles occurred during the middle to late 1800s. One of the
most important influences of the period was that of the transcendentalists (Britannica, 2011). Major
writers during this perid had a common bond. Their platform was an idealic system of thought based
on a belief in the essential unity of all creation, the innate goodness of man, and the supremacy of
insight over logic and experience for revelation of the deepest truths. (Britannica, 2011). Among these
writers and philosophers were many great Americans such as Edgar Allen Poe and Ralph Waldo
Emmerson. It is important to note; however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was then that she became a voice against the ill treatment of slaves. She was inspired by the
movement unintentionally. Emily Dickinson was following a transcendental ideal; she was being true
to herself and being an individual at all costs, as opposed to conforming to a world of followers.
Keeping Dickinson s famous reclusivity in mind, one could say that in her lifetime she was neither a
leader nor a follower. Dickinson never tied herself to a specific school of thought or philosophy, she
was simply herself (American Transcendentalism Web, 2011). Without realizing it, Dickinson too was
a large part of the transcendental movement. Louisa May Alcott, was a transcendentalist as well, but
unapologetically. Her father was a leading voice and teacher of the movement; therefore, the
principles were engrained in her very makeup. The idea that, reality exists only in the spirit world, and
that things which are seen in the physical world are only reflections of the spirit world, was the basis
of her writings (Walker, 2010).
Role of Poetry
Poetry played a significant role in the American Renassiance primarily because those who wrote the
poems were largely involved in the movement, or were deeply passionate about their lives and the
various causes they stood for. It is sad but true that many of the writers were able to present such

My Experience Through My Mentorship Experience Essay
Through my mentorship experiences, I have discovered many different things about myself. I learned
that I am good at encouraging others to push themselves. I also realized that I am someone who is goal
orientated and like to have a focus during all my discussions. During every mentorship meeting, I like
to have an agenda for the meeting and a focus for our deliberations. I also like to revisit goals my
mentees had set during the first session and writing new goals, as I measure success through results. I
realized that I am good at encouraging others as over time I have seen my mentees speak more often
and try to communicate effectively without looking for words on their phones. An interesting thing I
discovered about myself through my mentorship experience is that I always thought that since I had
traveled to many places around the world and had a keen interest in learning about other cultures, I
was culturally well rounded. However, conversations with my mentees made me realize that many of
the things I thought I knew about cultures such as Chinese culture were solely concepts introduced to
me from a tourist point of view. My mentees shared stories with me about television in China, and
how the channels they could access were government controlled. They also explained the Chinese job
world to me while discussions ways to write a resume for summer jobs. They told me how children

A Comparison Of Pablo Picasso And Zaha Hadid
Does one ever question what opposition to cultural trends can lead someone? What if they were to
question they type of success that could erupt from dislocating and distorting one s work into a brand
unique to no one but yourself? Pablo Picasso and Zaha Hadid were two of the most successful artists
within the modernist movement. Both Picasso and Hadid laid the foundation for their success with a
strong educational background. Each artist understood their sheer talent and works would not
contribute to their succession alone. Picasso and Hadid sought the importance of defining one s brand
on a global scale. Building a connection between a consumer and their product, both Picasso and
Hadid knew that their talent and business practices would allow them to convey themselves naturally
in a world immersed with commercialization. Their profound ability to know which patrons
(sponsors) to conduct business with, and proper distribution without flooding the market, allowed
Picasso and Hadid s work to stay in demand.
Born to on October 25, 1881 to Jose Ruiz Blaso, Pablo Picasso did not know that he would become
one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Displaying an extraordinary talent for art at a
young age, Picasso s father (a professor of art) decided to mentor Picasso s passion for the lapiz. With
the death of his sister at age thirteen, his family moved to Barcelona, where his father took a position
in the School of Fine Arts. Pablo s father successfully

The Importance Of Gender Roles
In short terms, gender roles essentially are social expectations that prescribe how both genders are
supposed to act, think, speak and engage with other individuals. Gender roles impact the way families
function whether it s traditional or non traditional. As said by Wienclaw (2015), even though the 21st
century has shown a continuous change in the way gender roles apply, some basic traditional gender
roles are still active in a lot of families. To elaborate, the basic traditional roles for males are
dominant, aggressive, strong, speedy and successful. The basic traditional roles for females are
sensitive, submissive, emotional and intuitive. Every generation has their own expectations as to how
each gender should act, but today s society is more open minded than those in the past. Gender roles
are common, mainly because of socialization which starts right after birth. During the adolescent
stage, children conform to gender roles that rest on their biological sex. According to my family, all of
them followed the traditional gender roles but later in life, some of their roles shifted to non
traditional.

Crimes And Copyright Infringement And Illegal File Sharing...
Introduction
All crimes come in different forms. Computer related crimes are no different ( Most common
schemes: Identity crimes, 2009). In some computer based crimes, a computer is used to commit the
crime, such as in copyright infringement and illegal file sharing cases (Volonino, Anzaldua Godwin,
2007, p. 67). To best investigate these crimes, an investigator must understand how to preserve and
authenticate all electronic evidence that pertains to the case (Volonino, Anzaldua Godwin, 2007, p.
67). This training manual will provide an overview of copyright infringement and illegal file sharing
crimes, as well as explain how to conduct a seizure and search of evidence. In addition, the manual
addresses investigative concerns related to these cases.
Overview of the crime According to Volonino, Anzaldua and Godwin (2007), technological advances
have led to an increase in computer based crimes such as copyright infringement and illegal file
sharing (p. 66). Copyright infringement is defined as the copying, distribution or sharing of
copyrighted works, including music, videos, and digital copies of textbooks without permission (
Copyright Infringement and Illegal File Sharing, 2015). A common form of copyright infringement is
software piracy. This is when a person makes unauthorized copies of a software or music file to share
or transfer to other people ( Copyright Infringement Penalties, 2009). Some legal issues associated

The Sick Rose Symbolism
symbols of The Sick Rose William Blake was a famous romantic poet, painter and sculptor at the end
of the 18th century, and he is a poet with a unique ideology, imaginative, and strong sense of

The increase of the capitalist economy made for moral degradation, but also made the social

Negative Effects Of Social Media On Teenagers
Social media has a negative impact on teenagers
Teens spend hours and hours of their day on social media. Studies show that an average teen spends
roughly about 27 hours a week on the internet. A majority of people today use at least one form of
social media; it has it s positives, there are lots of things good about social media sharing photos and
videos with your friends, getting to talk with people you know, seeing what other people are doing.
Then there is the questions, is social media is putting too much pressure on society? Does social media
ruin our connection/relationship with people offline? Do people feel like they need to change to fit in
with what they see online?
Lets look at ways that social media could be putting too much pressure on society: models who post
photos in small amounts of clothing showing off their perfect figures or beauty bloggers who spend
hundred of pounds on make up to change the way their face looks completely. Most of the time what
we see on social media is very different to what is behind the screen; most teens don t consider this.
Often teens feel like they have to change the way they look or keep up with popular trends just to feel
like they are good enough. Teens scroll through their phone for ages looking at other peoples posts
thinking wow their so pretty or they have such an exiting life , this can make teens feel like they need
to live up to the standard of there internet role models. People create a false version of

Essay on Ambient Air Pollution and Diabetes Mellitus
I. Introduction and Purpose
Diabetes mellitus, or simply diabetes, is a disorder in which the body is incapable of fully utilizing
converted energy taken from food. There are three types of diabetes: type 1 or insulin dependent, type
2 or adult on set, and gestational diabetes (Webmd.com, 2014).
According to the American Diabetes Association, in 2011 there were approximately 25.8 million cases
of diabetes in the United States, 7 million of which were undiagnosed, and an estimated 79 million
cases of prediabetes (American Diabetes Association, 2014). They also report that diagnosed cases of
diabetes cost the United States nearly $250 billion in 2012 (American Diabetes Association, 2014).

Search criteria were limited to air pollution and diabetes mellitus. All original study reports as well as

was found on the WebMD and American Diabetes Association websites.
III. Studies Three studies found evidence supporting a link between diabetes risk and elevated levels
of air pollution (Chen Burnett et al., 2013; Pearson Bachireddy et al., 2010; Xu Liu et al., 2011). Xu
Liu et al. utilized an experimental design in which they studied the effect of elevated particulate matter
(PM2.5) in mice and their corresponding blood glucose and insulin measures. Pearson Bachireddy et
al. and Chen Burnett et al. both conducted epidemiological studies in which they looked at diabetes
prevalence in the United States and Canada, respectively, and compared the data against air particulate
matter levels.
In the study conducted by Xu Liu et al., four week old, male mice were randomly assigned into one of
two groups: a control group and an experimental group. Both groups were fed identical diets and
treated in identical manners. The control group, referred to as FA, was exposed to filtered air for six
hours a day, five days a week for a total of 30 hours. The experimental group, referred to as PM2.5,
was exposed to air containing elevated PM2.5 in the same manner for a total of 30 hours a week. For

Elie Wiesel s Night
Night Essay
January 30, 1933 the Holocaust began,This was the birth of one of the worst horrors in war history,
The Holocaust was the transportation of many people of all races, to the ghettos, then being
transported to a concentration camp to where nearly 11 million people died in the span of 12 years .
Many stories have been displayed of the apathetic, brutality of living in conditions of the
concentration camps, but one particular story stands on how exactly it was to live in. Night by Elie
Wiesel; this is his story.
Wiesel was transported from Sighet to Auschwitz, a concentration camp for a year; he was 15 years

Poe Vs Usher
I see numerous variances and parallels concerning Edgar Allen Poe s The Fall of the House of Usher
and The Purloined Letter, as well as the overall appeal of the story it has to me. Poe uses the main
character as the speakers but he is nameless. This entire account is told in the first person view since
the speaker does partake in the action of the story. I realized that what the storyteller is observing and
witnessing the events. I examined the credibility of the circumstances. Poe undoubtedly doesn t give
the character a name because not all good tales need them to progress the plot and express the
important fragments of the story. Labels are made so the characters can see more fitting for the

Another idiosyncrasy to ponder here is Roderick s association with the speaker. He doesn t distinguish
this guy that well like I picture myself with my close friends. The narrator said, As boys, we had been
even intimate associates, yet I really knew little of my friend. His reserve had been always excessive
and habitual. They seem more like associates than childhood friends since they haven t seen or spoken
to one other in years! Usher observably recounts are strong about his identical sister as enthusiastically

either Usher or myself, and during this period I was busied in earnest endeavors to alleviate the
melancholy of my friend. While Usher himself positions that understandings of a just clear nature had
continuously ensued between them When she dies, his behavior transformed to one of edginess
character I have ever read about. Madeline seems to be one entity to Usher but also his was
interconnected to the manor as well. The crack splits the family. Roderick and Madeline die,
terminating the clan. The speaker says there is a wild inconsistency between still perfect adaptations
and the collapsing state of the different stones. This is symbolic to me. The stones symbolize the
different member of the Usher family, and the whole mansion represents the family. The
temperaments created in each story are totally unalike. The Fall of the House of Usher comes off as an
unusually low spirited impression with every detail adding to the disheartening vision. The story,
impressions of fear raises, partly because Poe is infamous for it his melancholic dismay tales, however

The History Of Video Games
History of video games. Have you ever played a video game and wonder? How does this thing work?
Who invented it? Well you in luck because I have all the information that you need to tell you about
the history of video games. How video games have advance right along with technology that we use in
everyday life. If you ask people. When video games did first came out? Most people would say in the
1970 s and they would be wrong. In 1958, William A. Higinbotham, an engineer working for the
United States government, came up with first game played on a type of screen. It was a two player
tennis game played on an oscilloscope, a piece of electronic equipment with a 5 inch display . (The
history of video games) In 1961, Steve Russell developed the first game played on a computer called
Spacewar . The game was a hit with people but only a very few would really have the chance to enjoy
it. The reason was because back then a computer was the size of a car and very expensive this system
cost about $120,000. Only about fifty of these computer were ever sold. In the mid 1960 the Military
wanted some sort of device that would develop the reflexes of the military personnel. In 1966 Ralph
Baer, an employee of defense contractor Sanders Associates, addressed this demand when he came up
with the concept of a television gaming apparatus. (Miller) It took four more year to get a working

The Bluest Eye By Jacqueline Woodson
Although written decades apart, Jacqueline Woodson s Another Brooklyn and Toni Morrison s The
Bluest Eye both explore the trials and tribulations that young black girls must endure as they begin to
step into womanhood. While the burdens that the protagonists in each of these texts differ in some key
ways, one of the most interesting things that both Woodson and Morrison depicted was a sense of
difficulty in coping with these changes, and rather than having any semblance of mastery over their
circumstances, these young protagonists would instead project their emotions onto something else as
they try to discover what causes their suffering. Morrison s The Bluest Eye, for example, features this
prominently throughout the text as Pecola sets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Junior, Geraldine s son, loathes this cat, as the text states, [as Junior] grew older, he learned how to
direct his hatred of his mother to the cat, and spent some happy moments watching it suffer (Morrison
86). This section not only serves as another example of projection from a developing, young, black
character, but more importantly, it also sets up the expectation for this cat to be loved. Later in the text,
Pecola finally goes to Junior s home to see the cat, and Junior promptly throws the cat in her face and
locks them both in a room (89 90). But as Pecola stays in the sealed room, something odd begins to
happen. She looks down at the cat, and the text gives us a description of the cat as black all over, deep
silky black, and his eyes, pointing down toward his nose, were bluish green (90). Originally, then, the
cat s eyes are described as bluish green until Pecola sees the light hit them in a certain way, then they
shift to blue. The text continues, The light made them shine like blue ice. Pecola rubbed the cat s head;
he whined, his tongue flicking with pleasure. The blue eyes in the black face held her (90). Notably,
the moment that the light changes the eyes of the cat to blue, Pecola begins to show it affection, and
the cat begins to show signs of happiness. Notably, past this point in the text, at least for the remainder
of when the cat is mentioned, he is always given the description of having blue eyes rather

Dr. Caligare
People often take for granted the importance of the first impression, the few pivotal seconds where the
eye decides what someone is like before they ve spoken a single word. In The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari,
Weine uses costume design and German expressionist makeup to visually assign roles of sanity and
insanity to the characters that are immediately identifiable. In doing so, Weine insinuates the people
are all too willing to accept these visual cues without question, when in reality the line between the
sane and insane may not be so clear cut. In order to achieve this effect, Weine first establishes a sense
of normalcy by appealing to society s picture of the common man. At the beginning of the film, the
audience is not privy to any madness, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, a closer look at the characters appearance following the big twist challenges this simplicity.
The first clue that something is off is the nature of the people that inhabit the asylum, especially
Cesare. A close up on Cesare reveals that his appearance has been skewed by Francis madness. His
messy hair has been combed into place, reminiscent of Alan s normal locks. Most notable, the dark
circles under his eyes have disappeared, implying that Cesare is not, and was never, a somnambulist.
Thus, the truth behind Francis story begins to crumble. The discovery of Francis insanity is realized
by his courtyard companion, whose visible shock and horror is paralleled in the audience. In this
moment, it is revealed that everything has been told from the perspective of a madman, destroying the
credibility of the entire story. The ambiguity increases as Queen Jane receives another close up: her
makeup looks the same softened, even. Jane s appearance barely changed, and the fact that her
makeup was even darker in the flashback where she was normal blurs the line between Francis
delusions and reality. Afterwards, Caligari comes down in a way similar to the beginning, emerging
out of the shadows. However, the makeup, hair, and costuming has gone, revealing a completely
normal looking person. Such a drastic

The Structural Family Therapy On The Family
The identified problems in the family are the lack communication, rigid boundaries, and weak
subsystems within the family. The structural family therapy focuses on the interactions with the family
rather than focusing exclusively on the identified person or patient (Nichols, and Tafuri, 2013). In
addition, through utilizing, the structuralism approach, the family will be able to think beyond
symptomatic behaviors and see their choices and process relationships between group members and
other systems (Vetere, 2003). The family will also be able to broaden their understanding of how each
family member contributes to the problem or communication patterns within the family (Nicols et al.,
2013). Furthermore, based on the research structionalism will encourage the family to problem solve
in a safe therapeutic environment (Vetere, 2003). In therapy, the family will be able to express their
feelings and thoughts without judgments or bias from the therapist.
Moreover, for this particular family, the objectives and treatment will focus on boundaries and
subsystems. Boundaries are useful guidance for the assessment of interactions among family
members. (Ryan, p. 133, 1997). When boundaries become clear the family is able to function healthier
between subsystems. Another objective in treatment will be learning conflict resolution skills.
Structural therapy will focus on encouraging the family to learn to respect one another s opinions and

Zoot Suit Riots
Last year I was able to get a small glimpse on the Zoot Suit Riots that had taken place in the 1930s.
On August 4, 1942 the United States concluded a temporary agreement for the use of Mexican
agricultural labor on United State farms. World War II took a huge impact on the beginning of this
program and the beginning of the conflicts that ran through Harlem. These so called riots soon began
to change the views on the Mexicans that were dressed in such a way the Americans began to have
conflict with these Pachuco Zoot Suiters. In June 1943 Zoot Suit Riots in Los Angeles, California
were a series of attacks against Mexican American youth and other minorities by white American
servicemen. After these Zoot Suit riots broke out and began to startle the mexican ethnicities. Families
were damaged, lives were killed. Discouraging this is a topic that was completely reversed and not
taken as seriously as is should have been. Imposing the lower and colored minorities for the economic
problems this country has gone through.
During these times dance halls were extremely popular for interacting, dancing and forgetting about
the stress of what was going on around the economic world such as the Great Depression. L.A was full
of mexicans. The style of the young people began to evolve and mexicans were influenced through the
hip, slang and Chicano ways. These zoot suits outfits were very popular in African American

That Summer Book Report
Diving into Change The fictional novel entitled That Summer was written by author, Sarah Dessen. It
was published in 1996 as her first book to be sold. Dessen states, It was actually the third one I wrote,
after a terrible book I did in college and one that was marginally better the year after. I never intended
That Summer to be a YA (young adult) book while I was writing it (Sarah Dessen, n. d.). She then
goes on to state how her publisher believed it would be a good book for teenagers, so, she gave it a
shot, and allowed it to be published. According to UNCTV, Sarah Dessen grew up in Chapel Hill,
North Carolina and attended UNC Chapel Hill, graduating with the highest honors in Creative
Writing. She is the author of several novels and has a motion picture based on her first two books,
entitled How to Deal. Her 11th novel, The Moon and More, was published in June 2013. She currently
lives in North Carolina (UNCTV, 2006). That Summer was inspired by Dessen s interest in writing
about what she describes as the change in youth s personality as they go through some sort of tragedy

Personal Health Records Essay
Introduction
Increased public demand to access health information and growth of consumerism in health care
industry are two important reasons form increasing attention to Personal Health Records (PHRs) in the
recent years. Surveys show that a considerable number of people want to have access to their health
information. In one survey, 60 percent of respondents wanted physicians to provide online access to
medical records and test results, and online appointment scheduling; 1 in 4 said they would pay more
for the service.
Moreover, increasing costs of healthcare delivery and emerging trends toward patient empowerment

For this reason, some experts think that the term Personal Health Record is not descriptive enough and
can limit innovation and usage of these systems. Personal Health Record Systems (PHRS) and
Personal Health Platforms (PHP) have been suggested as more appropriate terms.
Types of PHRs
From an architectural point of view, PHRs can be divided into four different types.
Stand alone PHR: This is the simplest form of a PHR that does not connect with any other system. The
data is usually entered manually by the patient. This type of PHR can be in the form of USB devices,
CDs, smart cards, desktop applications, or even web based applications that can be accessed through
the internet. Although this model of PHR gives patient complete control over data and seems more
secure as it has no connection to other systems, it lacks the reliability and usefulness and is not
considered a preferred model. Stand alone PHRs can only be considered computerized versions of
paper based health records the some people keep.
Provider tethered PHRs: In this model, PHR is developed and maintained by a healthcare provider,
insurer, or employer. The type of health information that is stored in these PHRs is affected by the
nature of the provider business. For instance, in PHRs that are offered by insurers, the content is
mostly administrative and billing in nature. In the case of healthcare providers, PHR would be a

Egon Schiele s Portrait Of Wally Essay
Art, in essence, is one of the most crucial pieces of cultural history. It transcends language, emanates
emotion, provokes thought, and stimulates imagination. In other words, art is of monumental value in
its scope of what befalls under its umbrella. It was no wonder why during the Nazi regime from 1933
1945 that the Nazis would thieve some of Europe s most treasured works but also those deemed
degenerate. Egon Schiele s Portrait of Wally is a perfect example as to what degenerate art would be
considered and what the Nazis would have been interested in seizing, but why? Egon Schiele s Portrait
of Wally is a figurative oil painting depicting Walburga Neuzil. In this painting, a medium to close up

custody for abduction of a minor. Although the charges brought against him were groundless, Schiele
served time in prison for 24 days for distribution of indecent drawings. During his prison sentence,
Neuzil visited Schiele every day to provide art supplies and prove her devotion. The relationship
subsequently came to an end in June of 1915 when Schiele married Edith Harms. Schiele and Neuzil

The Symbolism Of Furniture In Poe s Walden
When one thinks of the word furniture, they usually think of this definition: The action of decorating
or embellishing ( Furniture, N. Def. 1b ). This definition has been in use since the 1500s and has
remained popular through today. A less popular and less known definition for furniture is the condition
of being equipped whether in body or mind; equipment in dress or armour; preparedness for action;
mental cultivation, culture ( Furniture, N. Def. 2b ). This definition was used during the antebellum
period in America and it seems that this was the definition that many of the writers from that era used,
particularly, Edgar Allan Poe in his story Ligeria, Henry David Theroux in his novel, Walden. It

censer rather than some other object, the narrator is moving from insinuating his grief through the use
of objects that connote solitude to literally furnishing the bridal chamber with objects that are used for
funerals. The narrator continues to employ the objects that are associated with funerals: He describes

State Of Ww2 ( Background )
State of WW2 (Background)
By 1945, the war between the Allies and Germany was slowly reaching its end. To the west, Nazi
leader Adolf Hitler s desperate counteroffensive against the Allies in Belgium s Ardennes forest had
ended in a total failure . As well as in the east, it looked very hopeless for Germany(History.com
Staff.). Meanwhile, the Western Allies began considering the use of strategic bomb to fight against
Germany s stubborn defense. In January 1945, the Royal force began to consider plans for the
widespread bombing of cities in eastern Germany against Dresden and two other cities(Hickman,
Kennedy.). Also on February, the three leaders of the Allies, Franklin Roosevelt, Joseph Stalin and
Winston Churchill met at Yalta in the USSR and compromised on their visions of the postwar World
(History.com Staff. Bombing of Dresden. ). The background is very significant because it shows the
initial cause of the bombing of Dresden.
The Yalta Conference
The topic of area bombing certain parts of Germany to end the World War II was finalized in the Yalta

cities they would target if they were to bomb them. Some of the targets they discussed were Berlin and
Dresden. In the end, they ended the meeting with the final decision to bomb Dresden even though

  • 3. The Matrix Movie Analysis Danny Warren ANTH 2306 R11362526 Final Essay: Question 1 In contrast to a utopia, according to the power point provided in class a dystopia is an imaginary place where people live dehumanized and often fearful lives. The movies The Matrix, 1999 and Avatar, 2009 overall seem to me as dystopian films. To show how each film portrays the different aspects of perspectives on the future, and a dystopia, I m going to use the settings, actions, and outcomes of each film. The setting to me feels like the most important aspect of determining if a movie is a dystopia or not. The Matrix takes places in a city called Zion, which is made up of many machines. The Matrix is a computer program that humans are trapped in without knowing, and they assume they are just living a regular life, but they are not. The real world they live in is being overrun by machines that are trying to end all existence of human life. Humans do not live regular lives in this movie. Either they are being brain washed through the matrix, or out fighting machines to save Zion, the world they live in. According to the article, Dystopian Themes in Film, a dystopian usually consist of people in which they live a dehumanized life. Dehumanization is the exact words I would use to describe the humans that are depicted in this film. Humans are not even given a proper birth; they are manufactured in an abnormal machine. In relation to the perspectives of the future, Neo wants to get the people out of bondage, so they can see their reality and work towards making life better in the real word. The movie Avatar takes place in a world that is inhabited by the Na vi called Pandora. Avatars are human minds, transferred into the body of the Na vi species so that the humans are better equipped when dealing with the world of Pandora. Humans infiltrate this land to take away this precious stone that is locked away underground. To get to this stone they must take away the homeland of the natives living there. The setting Pandora is a very mystical place and has many animals, or monsters, from a human s perspective. It is such a foreign place that humans are slowly adjusting to better understand it. The Matrix deals with the human setting of the dystopia, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evaluation of a Strategy for Increase in Car Production The Morgan motor company is a small conservative company that is based in the north of England that is a producer of hand made, high quality cars. The purpose of the strategy is to identify the cause of the problem that is currently meaning that Morgan can only produce around nine cars per week. Despite this the company has much strength in the way that it operates, for example the company has a background of being very traditional. The company has become so outdated that it may be better for the company to begin from scratch. In order to identify the causes of the problem the Morgan Company would need to carry out three different studies, these are: * A Works Study * Market Research * A analysis of the accounts and sales of the company The main purpose of the works study would provide Morgan with the evidence of the problem within the company and to highlight the specific problems in the company. For example the poor logistics and layout of the factory which means that the cars have to be manually moved around the factory from one stage to another. The works study will highlight the areas that need to be improved by the business, and how they can be improved, for example the car is predominantly made by hand, can be improved by the incorporation of tooling which is likely to make little difference to the nature and finished quality of the product. The work study would highlight the problem of the length of production for the product which is currently three months and how this could be improved. The work study will be used to show the management and workforce the need for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Commentary on Like Water for Chocolate by Laura... Commentary on Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel The novel Like Water for Chocolate is the story of a woman fighting tradition in quest for love and freedom. The novel has diverse relations of apathy and love between the characters. The author Esquivel illustrates these relations by the use of the colors red and white. Throughout the novel Like Water for Chocolate, Laura Esquivel uses the colors red and white to symbolize love and apathy in the relationships between the characters. Laura Esquivel uses the color red to symbolize love and passion in relationships. In the following quote Mamma Elena had come to get a sheet or something and had caught Tita red handed. (p. 136) The little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 35) This quote shows that Tita is unable to see the red, in the icing, which symbolizes that she cannot see the love in the marriage between Pedro and Rosaura since the marriage was arranged. What she sees is the white icing of the cake that represents marriage, but not the red food coloring that represents love. These two quotes both exhibit red being used as a symbol for love and passion. Laura Esquivel also uses the color white, which represents apathy to contrast the feeling for love, represented by the color red. Tita stood as if in a trance, starting at the whiteness of the sheets, only for a few seconds. But long enough to cause a sort of blindness, wherever she looked she saw only white. When she looked at Rosaura who was writing out some invitations she saw only a snowy ghost . This quote also shows that Tita is fully aware that there is no love between Pedro and Rosaura. The quote states that Tita was being blinded by the color white, because she can t accept that fact that her love is going to marry her sister even though they do not love each other. Rosaura, who is the bride seemed like a white snowy ghost to Tita because Pedro did not love her and she doesn t love Pedro. In the next quote Laura Esquivel integrates both the colors red and white in one paragraph to foreshadow Esperanza s doubtful future, The Earth swallowed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Emperor Qin s Essay As Roy Bennett once said, Success is not how high you have climbed, but how you make a positive difference to the world . In past civilizations, a commonality amongst leaders is that they would use force and fear to secure their power over people. The reason being is to avoid future riots and the possibility of losing their territory to the people they conquered or their very own. However, there were moments in history where rulers exerted their dominance without having to ruin the lives of innocent people. When rulers clear themselves from selfish desires they become someone who their people look up to no matter what background, and that is what it means to be a true leader. Although it is thanks to Emperor Qin of China that people today have artifacts and information about his dynasty, he was one of those rulers whose actions did not help his people prosper. Even though installing public construction projects are usually a positive factor in boosting the economy, it was a downfall for the people under Emperor Qin s rule because the fatalities [rate] was high (Rossabi, 64), and he implemented forced labor (64) for his projects. In fact many of his projects may have not been the intention for his people but rather his army, noble families, and his own legacy because of the labor force that went behind the creation of elaborate palaces (64). Although he implemented the construction of better road systems which is normally seen as a benefit for the people for safer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. American Renaissance Writers Essays American Renaissance Writers ENG/491 December 19, 2011 Peggy Walls American Renaissance Writers The American Renaissance, in literary circles occurred during the middle to late 1800s. One of the most important influences of the period was that of the transcendentalists (Britannica, 2011). Major writers during this perid had a common bond. Their platform was an idealic system of thought based on a belief in the essential unity of all creation, the innate goodness of man, and the supremacy of insight over logic and experience for revelation of the deepest truths. (Britannica, 2011). Among these writers and philosophers were many great Americans such as Edgar Allen Poe and Ralph Waldo Emmerson. It is important to note; however, ... Emily Dickinson was following a transcendental ideal; she was being true to herself and being an individual at all costs, as opposed to conforming to a world of followers. Keeping Dickinson s famous reclusivity in mind, one could say that in her lifetime she was neither a leader nor a follower. Dickinson never tied herself to a specific school of thought or philosophy, she was simply herself (American Transcendentalism Web, 2011). Without realizing it, Dickinson too was a large part of the transcendental movement. Louisa May Alcott, was a transcendentalist as well, but unapologetically. Her father was a leading voice and teacher of the movement; therefore, the principles were engrained in her very makeup. The idea that, reality exists only in the spirit world, and that things which are seen in the physical world are only reflections of the spirit world, was the basis of her writings (Walker, 2010). Role of Poetry Poetry played a significant role in the American Renassiance primarily because those who wrote the poems were largely involved in the movement, or were deeply passionate about their lives and the various causes they stood for. • 9. My Experience Through My Mentorship Experience Essay Through my mentorship experiences, I have discovered many different things about myself. I learned that I am good at encouraging others to push themselves. I also realized that I am someone who is goal orientated and like to have a focus during all my discussions. During every mentorship meeting, I like to have an agenda for the meeting and a focus for our deliberations. I also like to revisit goals my mentees had set during the first session and writing new goals, as I measure success through results. I realized that I am good at encouraging others as over time I have seen my mentees speak more often and try to communicate effectively without looking for words on their phones. An interesting thing I discovered about myself through my mentorship experience is that I always thought that since I had traveled to many places around the world and had a keen interest in learning about other cultures, I was culturally well rounded. However, conversations with my mentees made me realize that many of the things I thought I knew about cultures such as Chinese culture were solely concepts introduced to me from a tourist point of view. My mentees shared stories with me about television in China, and how the channels they could access were government controlled. They also explained the Chinese job world to me while discussions ways to write a resume for summer jobs. • 11. A Comparison Of Pablo Picasso And Zaha Hadid Does one ever question what opposition to cultural trends can lead someone? What if they were to question they type of success that could erupt from dislocating and distorting one s work into a brand unique to no one but yourself? Pablo Picasso and Zaha Hadid were two of the most successful artists within the modernist movement. Both Picasso and Hadid laid the foundation for their success with a strong educational background. Each artist understood their sheer talent and works would not contribute to their succession alone. Picasso and Hadid sought the importance of defining one s brand on a global scale. Building a connection between a consumer and their product, both Picasso and Hadid knew that their talent and business practices would allow them to convey themselves naturally in a world immersed with commercialization. Their profound ability to know which patrons (sponsors) to conduct business with, and proper distribution without flooding the market, allowed Picasso and Hadid s work to stay in demand. The Importance Of Gender Roles In short terms, gender roles essentially are social expectations that prescribe how both genders are supposed to act, think, speak and engage with other individuals. Gender roles impact the way families function whether it s traditional or non traditional. As said by Wienclaw (2015), even though the 21st century has shown a continuous change in the way gender roles apply, some basic traditional gender roles are still active in a lot of families. To elaborate, the basic traditional roles for males are dominant, aggressive, strong, speedy and successful. The basic traditional roles for females are sensitive, submissive, emotional and intuitive. Every generation has their own expectations as to how each gender should act, but today s society is more open minded than those in the past. Gender roles are common, mainly because of socialization which starts right after birth. During the adolescent stage, children conform to gender roles that rest on their biological sex. The discovery of Francis insanity is realized by his courtyard companion, whose visible shock and horror is paralleled in the audience. In this moment, it is revealed that everything has been told from the perspective of a madman, destroying the credibility of the entire story. The ambiguity increases as Queen Jane receives another close up: her makeup looks the same softened, even. Jane s appearance barely changed, and the fact that her makeup was even darker in the flashback where she was normal blurs the line between Francis delusions and reality. Afterwards, Caligari comes down in a way similar to the beginning, emerging out of the shadows. However, the makeup, hair, and costuming has gone, revealing a completely normal looking person. The structural family therapy focuses on the interactions with the family rather than focusing exclusively on the identified person or patient (Nichols, and Tafuri, 2013). In addition, through utilizing, the structuralism approach, the family will be able to think beyond symptomatic behaviors and see their choices and process relationships between group members and other systems (Vetere, 2003). The family will also be able to broaden their understanding of how each family member contributes to the problem or communication patterns within the family (Nicols et al., 2013). Zoot Suit Riots Case Study Guadalupe Alvarado Mr. Wright AVID 11 23, October , 2017 Zoot Suit Riots Last year I was able to get a small glimpse on the Zoot Suit Riots that had taken place in the 1930s. On August 4, 1942 the United States concluded a temporary agreement for the use of Mexican agricultural labor on United State farms. World War II took a huge impact on the beginning of this program and the beginning of the conflicts that ran through Harlem. These so called riots soon began to change the views on the Mexicans that were dressed in such a way the Americans began to have conflict with these Pachuco Zoot Suiters. In June 1943 Zoot Suit Riots in Los Angeles, California were a series of attacks against Mexican American youth and other minorities by white American servicemen. After these Zoot Suit riots broke out and began to startle the mexican ethnicities. Families were damaged, lives were killed. Discouraging this is a topic that was completely reversed and not taken as seriously as is should have been. Imposing the lower and colored minorities for the economic problems this country has gone through. During these times dance halls were extremely popular for interacting, dancing and forgetting about the stress of what was going on around the economic world such as the Great Depression. L.A was full of mexicans. The style of the young people began to evolve and mexicans were influenced through the hip, slang and Chicano ways. In one survey, 60 percent of respondents wanted physicians to provide online access to medical records and test results, and online appointment scheduling; 1 in 4 said they would pay more for the service. Personal Health Record Systems (PHRS) and Personal Health Platforms (PHP) have been suggested as more appropriate terms. Types of PHRs From an architectural point of view, PHRs can be divided into four different types. Stand alone PHR: This is the simplest form of a PHR that does not connect with any other system. The data is usually entered manually by the patient. This type of PHR can be in the form of USB devices, CDs, smart cards, desktop applications, or even web based applications that can be accessed through the internet. Although this model of PHR gives patient complete control over data and seems more secure as it has no connection to other systems, it lacks the reliability and usefulness and is not considered a preferred model. Stand alone PHRs can only be considered computerized versions of paper based health records the some people keep. Provider tethered PHRs: In this model, PHR is developed and maintained by a healthcare provider, insurer, or employer. The type of health information that is stored in these PHRs is affected by the nature of the provider business. Priests and religious ministers are solitary and a bridal chamber is supposed to be a space that is shared by newlyweds. Likewise, the narrator describes censer that hangs from the ceiling. A censer is a covered incense burner, usually swung from a chain at funerals ( Censer, N.1 ). By using a censer rather than some other object, the narrator is moving from insinuating his grief through the use of objects that connote solitude to literally furnishing the bridal chamber with objects that are used for funerals. The narrator continues to employ the objects that are associated with funerals: He describes gigantic sarcophagus of black granite.
