The New England Area And The Chesapeake Area
The English were early settlers in America. Two of their areas of settlement were the New England
area and the Chesapeake area. Even though these two places were settled by the same country, both of
their societies were very different. The main reasons for their differences were their motives for
colonization, slavery, and religion. The main motive of New England was to serve God, and to be a
City upon a hill as said by John Winthrop in the Mayflower Compact, document A, We must consider
that we shall be as a city upon a hill. They eyes of all people are upon us. Document D also states that
they want to share equal planting ground, and that everyone in the colony will have a home.
Document B shows that the colony was structured more towards family life. Quotes like We intend by
God s grace... to produce some Godly and faithful minister with whom we purpose to join in church
covenant to walk in all the ways of Christ, tell you exactly why they are colonizing. Document E says
that they intend to not be selfish, but to put others first to that they can avoid the sin of oppression.
New England in general was very religious, and they, because of that, tended to be more friendly to
each other and also to the Indians than those living in Chesapeake did. The main motive of the
Chesapeake area was to make money and to own land in the new world. This is shown by how their
colonies starved to death in the beginning. When they arrived in America they thought that there

Odour Of Chrysanthemums Essay
They say there is nothing in this world like a mother s love. In the short story, Odour of
Chrysanthemums, Elizabeth, the mother of two, is facing a battle conflicting if she loves her husband
or not. She is trying to be strong for her family and hold them together, because she feels like that is
her job as a mother. Elizabeth has a mindset that her husband is out drinking and spending his spare
time at unnecessary places, as he has before, instead of spending time with his family. Women
overanalyze most situations but usually have a reason to. Women want the best for their family, which
is what Elizabeth s main concern is, and if her husband is not doing what is good for her family she
wants away from it. In the short story Odour ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is almost impossible to have a successful relationship when beginning with hardship. She [has]
refused him as himself. And this [has] been her life, and his life. With the short amount of time
humans have to live, there is no time to live in pity and regret. Elizabeth has the idea that her husband
is staying out at bars while she is home taking care of the kids miserable and worried. This is not how
a healthy marriage works. Elizabeth realizes she never even loved her husband and was only attracted
to the lust when D.H. Lawrence says, There had been nothing between them, and yet they had come
together, exchanging their nakedness repeatedly. She comes to the realization that the only reason she
has stuck around is for her family and social acceptance. Elizabeth has guilt towards her assumption
when she is proven wrong. After coming the conclusion that her husband is out drinking again and she
does not love him, men come to her door with the information that her husband has passed away
during work on the coalmines. She begins to worry about if he suffered, how injured he was, and
about the children. Some people may assume that she feels relief that her husband has passed away
because of her lack of love for him but this is not true. Elizabeth has no emotion and is silenced
because she feels sad for her assumption when D.H. Lawrence writes But from death, her ultimate

Sexual Cultures In New Spain And New France
The sexual cultures of New Spain, New France, and New England evolved differently because of the
[d]ifferences in religious orientation, labor systems, demographic composition, and political authority
(Peiss 70). A couple of the main religions were catholic and puritan. The labor systems varied greatly
since there was farming, trading, or conquest by soldiers. With over a hundred different tribes of
Native Americans throughout the Americas as well as the Spanish, French Canadians, and English, the
demographic composition was very different in each settlement and colony (Anderson Bricker Native
Americans Notes). The political authority for the Spanish on conquest and missions was military
officials and the Franciscans, while the political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, if a woman did perform the responsibilities of a man her hidden male organs would emerge.
Due to this belief, the distinction between men and women were defined by the clothes they wore and
the jobs they performed. When people such as Thomas Hall crossed dressed by wearing women s
clothes and doing a woman s job of needle work, they disrupted the social order of the colony (
Thomas or Thomasine? 78). If a man believed that Thomas was a woman and approached Thomas in a
sexual manner the man unknowingly would be committing a crime of sodomy, which the punishment
for this crime is to be put to death ( Massachusetts Colony s Laws 71). The definition of sodomy in
New England was when sexual relations occurred within the same sex (Godbeer 95, 96). Due to the
religious views of New England bestiality, sex with animals, was viewed as having sex with the Devil
himself ( William Bradford Witnesses 76). The economic problem caused by sex with slaves or
indentured servants was that the women would be unable to work for a year or two if they became
pregnant thus the masters would lose valuable workers they paid for. The problems the English had

ROWE Program at Best Buy Payne 1 1. Describe the culture of Best Buy. Best Buy culture has
changed tremendously. The company s culture was once to embrace long hours and sacrifice, now the
culture is more relaxed. The employees are now really able to run their own schedule as well as their
own work progress. Before the ROWE program was introduces to the Best Buy employees would
have to work until they found a solution. That means staying at work all night and day if the job or
situation requires it. For example the book talks about one employee that was given a plaque for
staying up and at work for three days to right a report that was due. He made a sacrifice for his job that

There is stress coming from all different sources including managers as well as employees. Some of
the managers in retail do not agree with the ROWE program because it gives to much freedom for
employees to do just as they please. The stress comes when as Kirshbaum says with everyone out of

Has anyone ever advocated for you or anything you respect? Although Jackie Robinson, Melba Patillo
Beals, and Helen Keller advocated for different things, the three did make life changing turning points
to change their countries for the better. They all had one thing in common despite their differences;
perseverance. But what actions of perseverance did they commit to? For a long time, only white
people were in the major leagues. Until, however, Jackie Robinson defied this and made a change for
the better. He was the first African American in America to be in the major leagues of baseball,
although many people did not agree with this. This is shown when we see that white people had yelled
insults and racial slurs at him during his games, It hadn t been that easy to fight the resentment
expressed by players on other teams, by the team owners, or by bigoted fans screaming n . The man

The Grocery Store
Who would have thought that by opening up a single grocery store in the early 1900s, it would give
the ability for someone to open up over 60 more in less than ten years. In today s business market, it is
nearly impossible to open up 60 grocery stores in Toronto in less than 10 years. The reason being is
that the grocery retail industry is now becoming or has become an Oligopoly. When one is walking
through the streets of Canada looking at places to shop for groceries, one may stumble across several
options of grocery stores to choose from. Often people question whether to buy their groceries either
at No frills, Fortinos, Real supermarket or Loblaws. For many, the question is simply answered by
choosing the store nearest to the comfort of their home. Over time, customers become loyal to the
store for many different reasons, it often has to do with the experience offered at a certain chain and
loyalty programs. Many of these loyal customers will not buy from other supermarkets unless they are
away from home where their preferable store is not convenient. Not every Canadian customer is aware
that Loblaw Companies Limited, the single largest Canadian food retailer owns many of the different
supermarkets out there. This paper will prove that the Loblaw Companies Limited has is constantly

concerning the behavior of the humans and hopefully will lead to more effective studies in the future.
Based on these observations, it is evident that we are not on our own planet of Nacirema and the

the personalities and motives of these residents. Nonetheless, I believe that based on our findings we

Placing The Blame On Hale s The Crucible
Placing the Blame on Hale The town of Salem, Massachusetts was a quiet, uneventful town for quite
some time. When accusations of witchcraft began circling certain members of the community,
Reverend Parris called in outside help. Reverent John Hale came from Beverly, the next town over. He
strongly believes that everyone has a good side, though that belief sometimes alters his perception of
people. Though his attempts to help were noble, he could have prevented over fifty deaths by staying
out of Salem. Hale becomes the primary cause of the witch hunts because he s overly trusting, kind,
and often rushes to solve complex problems in Arthur Miller s The Crucible. As a general rule, Hale
believes most of what he s told, without questioning the truth of it. Not long after coming to Salem,
Hale begins questioning members of the community about witchcraft. To Abigail, he asks, Did you
call the Devil last night? (481 Miller), to which she replies, seemingly fearfully, I never called him!
Tituba, Tituba... (481 Miller). To the reader, it s rather obvious that Abigail is attempting to blame
Tituba for her suspicious actions. Parris interrupts, asking, She called the Devil? (481 Miller), and
Hale begins to shift his suspicion, saying, I should like to speak with Tituba. (481 Miller). Nearly
immediately after Hale has another person to focus his questioning on, he accepts Abigail s story and
moves on. Hale could have avoided this by noting the name, but continuing to

William the Holy Conqueror
Even though William the Conqueror descended from a line of Vikings who had lived in France for
over 200 years, William had more of an impact on the English language than the majority of
influential English born people of the time. The French speaking Normans brought a whole new
vocabulary to England, whose language was closely related to German. (Barlow 8). He even
introduced the Norman legacy of building castles, including the Tower of London. Although he is
most well known for the Norman invasion of 1066 that overthrew the Anglo Saxon reign which had
lasted for over six centuries, William was a very religious man. He was moral and righteous by the
standards of the time, and devoted much of his time to the Norman church. William was born in 1028
and was the only son of Duke Robert I of Normandy who later died on a voyage to Jerusalem. After
his father s death in 1035, he was knighted at the age of fifteen and the Norman magnates accepted
William as duke even though he was an illegitimate child; he was actually known as William the
Bastard. This caused William serious problems later in life and he had to overcome several massive
obstacles one of which was surviving numerous rebellions; which his mother somehow got him
through. William relied heavily on King Henry I of France for protection. He faced substantial
difficulty maintaining control over Normandy but by his early twenties he emerged a powerful leader.
William then gathered an army to protect his estate. He

Meaning Of Galatian s Life By The Spirit
Have you ever wondered what it means to walk by the Spirit? Or what the Fruits of the Spirit truly
mean when applied to your life? Are you struggling with sin or maybe with issues you would not
identify as sin that do not feel right?
Paul addresses these issues in Galatians 5:13 26 by showing us what Life by the Spirit truly means.
Paul wrote this Epistle to defend himself and his ministry since many false teachers were telling the
Galatians otherwise and as a wake up call for the people of Galatia. Many took his message and
applied it to their lives, but continued to live in sin with one another. Paul wrote this book out of
frustration because he was disappointed in the Galatians for turning away from his teachings so
quickly. Paul wanted to let the Galatians know that they are no longer under Jewish law and should
not have to be circumcised to follow the Lord; they are free in Christ.
Paul spends the majority of passage talking about the Spirit and the flesh. The first thing you should
identify is what the flesh means. The flesh is a metaphor for our sinful nature, not necessarily referring
to the organ, flesh or skin. The Spirit is known as the Holy Spirit or our conscience to make decisions.
In verse 13 18 Paul is speaking directly to the people by using the pronoun, you. He is letting the
people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This relates to his use of inheriting the Kingdom of God metaphor in verse 21 since often times in the
Bible we are referred to as children of God. This does not mean we will actually inherit the Kingdom,
but that we will just receive eternal life. Since Paul calls the Galatians brothers and sisters, he is
reminding them they too are apart of the family of Christ and have been called to live by the Spirit and
refrain from sin. Furthermore, we are to serve and love one another and take up the characteristics and
attributes that the Spirit calls us to

What Is No Impact Man Essay
No Impact Man Essay No Impact Man was about a man who took his family on a year long journey of
reducing their environmental impact to nearly nothing. To do this he did five major things, he started
eating locally, stopped producing carbon emissions, stopped polluting the air and water, limited his
throw away waste, and stopped excessively consuming goods. No Impact Man started eating locally.
He did this to stop contributing to over exploitation of food resources. He ate food that only grew
close to him, and he went to many of the places where his food was grown and looked at how they
were farming. He also had a compost bin in his kitchen for food waste. I think we could all buy some
of our food locally, going to the places it is grown may not be something everyone is interested in
doing, but we can all support our local farmers market. I also don t think it is feasible for everyone to
have a compost bin, but we can be conscientious about our food waste, and try and reduce it. ... Show

Native Americans Of North Carolina Essay
American Indians had been living in North Carolina for at least 9,500 years before European explorers
first encountered them in the 1520 s. For the past several decades an increasing number of Americans
have been identifying as American Indians. For centuries before European contact, these native people
lived in harmony with the natural environment, taking no more from the land than they needed to
survive. Of all the states in the Union, North Carolina has witnessed the largest increase in Native
American population during the past 100 years, based upon official government census documents.

The Haliwa Saponi people are descendents of the Saponi, Tuscarora, Occaneechee, Tutelo, and

COMPARE SALES AND EPS GROWTH TO THE SAME PERIOD LAST YEAR: [FAIL]
Companies must demonstrate both revenue and net income growth of at least 25% as compared to the
prior year. These growth rates give you the dynamic companies that you are looking for. These rates
for NBS ( 14.29% for EPS, and 103.21% for Sales) are not good enough to pass. INSIDER
HOLDINGS: [PASS] NBS s insiders should own at least 10% (they own 16.35% ) of the company s
outstanding shares which is the minimum required. A high percentage typically indicates that the
insiders are confident that the company will do well. CASH FLOW FROM OPERATIONS: [FAIL] A
positive cash flow is typically used for internal expansion, acquisitions, dividend payments, etc. A

Controversy Regarding Cannabis-Related Legislations in Canada
There is presently much controversy regarding Cannabis related legislations in Canada, as while there
is a great deal of individuals supporting conditions in the present, there are also numerous people who
are against contemporary laws. It is presently illegal to grow cannabis plants in Canada, but the
authorities allow cannabis to be consumed for medical purposes. Many people in Canada believe that
cannabis should be legalized in the country, with some of the most recent polls pointing toward the
belief that the majority of individuals in the country consider that the substance should not be illegal.
Although it would be difficult to assess the effects that legalizing cannabis would have, it is only safe
to assume that the government should express more tolerance concerning the substance, considering
that more than half of Canada s population has expressed its support in regard to the drug.
Individuals who consume cannabis for recreational purposes are certain that the fact that this
substance is included in the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as illegal is proof that the authorities
directly discriminate them on account of their substance orientation.
Canada has a history in debating the use of cannabis and the circumstances when it can be beneficial
for the consumer and for society as a whole. The Canadian federal government encourages protection
for ill Canadians with degenerative health diseases (Jacob 2009, 210). The federal government
considers that the

Decrypting Politics
Conservatism describes the disposition of people who prefer heavy state intervention in private life
and little or no state invention in the economy. Laura Stoker, a professor at the University of
California, Berkeley, created a graph (Figure 1) that separates people s political standing based on
their views of state intervention in private life and the economy (The Charles and Louise Travers
Department of Political Science University of California, Berkeley). This description allows
individuals to compare and contrast the different political views of people. However, there is more to
the conservative label than just the group of people who prefer state intervention in the private life but
not in the economy. Conservatism is typically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is not a specific enterprise faction within the conservative movement, but this exemplifies how
there is not perfect harmony. More accurately, Lichtman is revealing how the conservative movement,
through the joining of the knowledge, influence, and resources from the businesses that invest
themselves in the movement, works with the religious side s passion to form a workable base.
The first faction of the conservative movement we will analyze is the traditionalist faction. Dunn
views the traditionalists as the original leaders of the modern conservative movement. He states they
provided intellectual leadership spanning many years. This faction was horrified about the projects to
expand government, such as the New Deal and the Great Society. Looking to foreign affairs, they
were against the threat of communism (Dunn, vii). James Ceaser includes that presently traditionalists
have become defenders of the culture (Dunn, 23). Ceaser believes they prefer change that comes
naturally rather than change that is created and forced. In this way they aim to conserve by keeping
more of a status quo or what gradually evolves in politics from situations. This seems to reveal the
current situation in which a dramatic change in health care was forced upon the American people, for
disapproval continues to be greater than approval (Rasmussen Reports, LLC). This is an example of

Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
The most common sexually transmitted infection in the U.S is Human Papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is
often asymptomatic and benign. However, it can lead to serious complications. It can cause genital
warts, bumps in the genital area that can vary in size and are often painful and itchy. Furthermore,
HPV can cause several cancers such as cervical, oropharyngeal, or cancers of the genitals (vulva,
vagina, or penis). These cancers often don t appear for years after contraction of the virus. HPV is
spread through sexual/skin to skin contact (vaginal, anal, or oral) with an infected person, regardless if
the person is symptomatic. Both females and males can carry the disease. Most symptoms associated
with HPV affect both men and women, such as genital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often chlamydia will remain asymptomatic. Only an average of 10% of men and 5 30% of women
develop symptoms. The most common symptom in women is cervicitis (inflammation of the cervix)
or urethritis (inflammation of the urethra). If left untreated the infection can spread to the uterus or
fallopian tubes, possibly resulting in pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). Pelvic inflammatory disease
can damage the reproductive tract and cause infertility issues. In pregnant women, this STD can
increase the chance of premature birth and complications such as pneumonia in the baby.
Symptomatic men most often experience urethritis, and sometimes epididymitis, an inflammation of a
tube near the testicles responsible for storing sperm. Both men and women can experience rectal pain
or discharge. Lastly, both men and women can develop reactive arthritis that is accompanied by
urethritis and conjunctivitis (pinkeye); combining to create Reiter s Syndrome. Chlamydia can be
transmitted via contact with infected persons penis, vagina, anus, or mouth. Alternately, it can be
spread from a pregnant woman to her baby during birth. The systems at risk of being affected by
chlamydia are the reproductive systems of both men and women (reproductive tract, epididymis),
urinary system (urethra), and even skeleton system as with reactive arthritis. Chlamydia can be readily
cured with antibiotics. Any damage done by the disease, such as damage contracted during a bout of
pelvic inflammatory disease, will remain after treatment. Anyone who has contracted chlamydia
before should aim to prevent recurring infections, as multiple infections can increase the risk for
complications such as pelvic inflammatory disease or ectopic

majority of people assume negative or misleading thoughts about different cultures. People have

Military Trade Patterns
U.S. Military Engagement And Trade Patterns. Why is trade and war happening at the same time?
There are many theories that try to explain this events happening at the same time and place.
Although, these are all theories the most compelling one is aggressive negotiation. This theory
explains the trading during war exported from the U.S to all over the world. It explains in detail why
trade was going on during war, benefits to our nation with the export and import of textiles , it helped
U.S troops defeat the Barbary pirates. Trade during war has been happening since early times dating
way back in history. This happens because nations often disagree on trading, also the war between
Barbary pirates. Due to this disagreement and inconvenient hold back due to the pirates, both nations
become rigid yet still want trade. Next, both nations start forcing their ways ... Show more content on

Yet , and of course, one nation gets greater benefits than the rest. U.S is a big and rich nation big part
of it is due to trading. As it can be seen, U.S is in war while trading, yet pirate attacks were a huge
setback for America costing te 20% of America s budget which was a huge amount of money to spend
on the pirates. In Fact most of their trading occurs while being in war. This is because the U.S always
wants to be the nation that benefits the most. In the long run this desire creates problems and leads to
issues among nations involved in this bias trade. Above all, this taboo event benefits the U.S army
greatly. While U.S trading with nations occurs, the U.S gets an advantage by controlling some of the
trading routes and supplies affecting that particular nation causing weakness in their army due to
attacks from Barbary pirates. Amongst other strategies, trading during war is a great advantage and
one of many reasons trading occurs while war is in progress. Furthermore, at some point trading
agreements do not get settled as desired leading to bigger

Comparing Thanksgiving And Christmas
Although Thanksgiving and Christmas are close in date, they are both celebrated for different reasons.
Thanksgiving is a day celebrated as giving thanks for blessings brought throughout the year, it is also
a time to celebrate the years harvest. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ. Even though
the holidays share many similarities, they also hold differences such as traditions, decorations, and the
reason as to why we celebrate each. The first difference in these holidays are the traditions. During
Thanksgiving, food is a huge celebration! It is the celebration of the harvest. This is the time that
family and friends gather to show how grateful they are for the blessings that have been brought to
them throughout the year. Christmas is known as the most wonderful time of the year, because of the

for Santa to arrive and leave gifts under the Christmas tree. The Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays
seem to have both lost their initial meaning throughout the years, we now celebrate them in the ways
we choose to rather than how they use to be celebrated. Thanksgiving and Christmas are both heavily
celebrated throughout, during the last couple of months of the year it seem to be holidays back to back

Chemical Compounds And The Compounds
The unknown compound was solid at room temperature and was white. It was soluble in water, as
indicated by Table 1. Of the list of possible known compounds, the unknown could not be CaCO3 or
MgCO3 because neither one of those compounds are soluble in water, but it could have been any salt
as the compound is ionic. From there, a conductivity test proved that the unknown compound
conducted 1.1 volts of electricity, meaning the compound contained both positively and negatively
charged ions that move around to conduct the electricity.
Potassium Sulfate has a solubility of 1 g in 8.3 mL of water, which matches with the results of the
unknown being soluble in water (The Merck Index). Ionic compounds, a form of polar compounds,
are soluble in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The potassium ion has an emission spectrum that is mainly blue and purple, with some red and yellow
lines (Petty). Combined, they form or lilac, sometimes pinky lilac color. This is consistent with the
results of the experiment.
Some possible discrepancies did occur in the initial identification of the cation in the unknown. At first
the flame burned slightly orange, indicating the cation could have been sodium. But, with further
testing and the use of a filter, the flame burned light pinky purple multiple times after. This indicates
that the burner was not fully clean and trace amounts of sodium could have existed in the range of the
flame. With more thorough testing and comparison, the identification of the cation as potassium stands
true.
To test the anion present in the compound, the investigators mixed the unknown with other known
compounds and observed the resulting reactions. The first anion test was performed by mixing the
unknown solution and silver nitrate and then adding in ammonium. No precipitate was formed from
that reaction so the unknown compound could not be bromide or iodide. The second anion test was
performed by mixing the unknown solution with barium chloride. A milky white precipitate formed
from that mixture so the anion present in the unknown compound was sulfate.
When two ionic compounds are mixed, a double displacement reaction occurs. In this case, potassium
sulfate was mixed with barium chloride. The

Communism In Germany
It all started when the rise of the Nazi Party came. Under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, and founded
in 1919, the National Socialist German Workers Party, or Nazi Party, grew into much more than a
meeting on the streets. It grew into a mass movement. The movement itself was Anti Semitism and
had much turmoil with the Treaty of Versailles. It had helped put an end to the first World War. Once
Hitler was given power over Germany, he swiftly persuaded the people against the Treaty. In 1929,
Germany was in a state of economic depression, and unemployment. Once Nazi power hit, it swore in
more of the party, leading them to get 230 out of the 608 seats, located in Reichstag. January 1933,

The Advent of Imperialism Essay
The Advent of Imperialism
We live in a world today in which the consequences of nineteenth century Western imperialism are
still being felt. By about 1914 Western civilization reached the high point of its long standing global
expansion. This expansion in this period took many forms. There was, first of all, economic
expansion. Europeans invested large sums of money abroad, building railroads and ports, mines and
plantations, factories and public utilities. Trade between nations grew greatly and a world economy
developed. Between 1750 and 1900 the gap in income disparities between industrialized Europe and
America and the rest of the world grew at an astounding rate. Part of this was due, first, to ... Show

Competition for trade, superior military force, European power politics, and a racist belief in European
superiority were among the most important. Some Europeans bitterly criticized imperialism as a
betrayal of Western ideals of freedom and equality.
Western imperialism produced various reactions in Africa and Asia. The first response was simply to
try to drive the foreigners away. The general failure of this traditionalist response then led large
masses to accept European rule, which did bring some improvements. A third response was the
modernist response of Western educated natives, who were repelled by Western racism and attracted
by Western ideals of national independence and economic progress. Thus, imperialism and reactions
to it spread Western civilization to non Western lands.
The great test of Western Imperialism is Asia, where vast peoples live, the inheritors of civilisations as
complex as our own, more ancient and more firmly rooted by enduring custom in the general life. The
races of Africa it has been possible to regard as savages or children, backward in their progress along
the same general road of civilisation in which Anglo Saxondom represents the vanguard, and requiring
the help of more forward races. It is not so easy to make a specious case for Western control over
India, China, and other Asiatic peoples upon the same ground. Save in the more recent

Analysis Of Cesar Chavez s Wrath Of The Grapes Boycott
Cesar Chavez addresses a speech that marks history known as the Wrath of the Grapes Boycott, 1986
in which he expresses his feelings towards farmwork and the worth of humanity. Cesar Chavez main
argument was to regulate the use of pesticides in the agricultural industry. The pesticides that were
being used in the farms were detrimental to the health of many of the laborers. They polluted the air,
water, earth and the health of the people. In no way was this beneficial to anyone s health. Chavez
objective was to boycott the grapes and show the agricultural industry that they deserved to be treated
better. Chavez speech was meaningful because he was one of the first mexican american leader who
fought for equality amongst farm laborers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later Chavez became a national leader and resigned in 1962 to devote his time to farm laborers (
Cesar Chavez ). During this period Chavez encountered the conditions that he would dedicate his life
to changing: wretched migrant camps, corrupt labor contractors, meager wages for backbreaking
work, bitter racism (Cesar Chavez). One of biggest factors was the use of pesticides which was
harming the health of the farm workers.
This was motivation for Chavez to rise up and do something for the farmworkers. The pesticides that
were being used were harmful to the workers. This addresses the credibility of being a first hand
witness because of pesticide use. In that same year Cesar Chavez founded the National Farm Workers
Association that later became United Farm Workers ( The Story Of Cesar Chavez ). Chavez informed
the people of the working conditions and the bad pay. Chavez strategy was to have non violent
marches, strikes and fasts. He encouraged the Farm Workers be be nonviolent and do things right. The
conditions they were working in where harmful to their health because of the pesticides. The marches,
strikes, and fasts led to a success in the grape boycott In 1970. Table grape growers at long last signed
their first union contracts granting workers better pay, benefits and protection (Kim). But 20 years
later the fight started again. This led for to a second boycott

Speech On Meat Injector
Best Meat Injector
Are you tired of eating a bland and dry tasting meat?
You can marinate the meat for as long as you wish, but the flavor only reaches the outside of your
meat cut. In order for the seasoning to fully penetrate through larger cuts of meat, you can try injecting
them with seasoning.
Turkeys are particularly notorious for being rather dry, but with the meat injector, you are more likely
to have a moist piece of meat that is extremely flavorful. You can also infuse jams and syrups inside
your pastries, like cakes and cupcakes.
With the best meat injector, your food is guaranteed to be bursting with flavors and seasoning.

economic activity (Jorgenson and Vu, 2007) as it not only increases productivity and boost economic

3D printing is where a three dimensional object is created by laying down successive layers of
material that adhere to one another, creating a three dimensional output. (Kurt and Colegrove, 2012) It
has the ability to turn digital files created on a CAD or CAM program into physical objects. (Hoffman,
2015) MakerBot Replicator is a typical example of a product that uses 3D printing. (Figure 1)
The Replicator uses 1.75mm polylactic acid (PLA) filament. Various colors are available, meaning
that lots of flexibility is given as to the final look of the product that s printed.
As its software, MakerBot Desktop software is used. This allows individuals to save files in a personal
Library that you ve created, printed, or want to print; find new objects in the Thingiverse to print; and
access instructional and troubleshooting videos. (Hoffman, 2015) In other words, it s software that
enables you to manage and print objects.

Fibrinogen Case Study
At least in mice it does. In this issue of Blood, Machlus et al investigated the effects of high fibrinogen
levels using a combination of murine models of thrombosis and in vitro studies, to show that high
fibrinogen leads to increased formation of thrombi that are more resistant to proteolytic degradation.1
These findings are important because it has long been debated whether elevated fibrinogen causes
thrombosis or not. There are clearly a number of mechanisms by which higher levels of fibrinogen
could cause thrombosis, including increased blood viscosity, increased fiber density of the fibrin clot,
increased resistance of the fibrin clot to fibrinolysis, and altered mechanical properties of the fibrin
clot (see figure). While clinical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fibrin is the main structural component of the thrombus. The conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin by
thrombin leads to one of the most remarkable processes in biology in which fibrin spontaneously
forms a gel by producing fibers that grow longitudinally as well as laterally, with branch points
forming and interconnecting the fibers leading to the formation of a 3 dimensional network that binds
platelets and traps other blood cells. Even after the gel point, the architecture of the fibrin network can
change quite dramatically.7 Other plasma proteins such as factor XIII, α2 antiplasmin, and fibronectin
interact with the fibrin and alter its structural and functional properties. Once the fully organized
thrombus is formed, its life span is determined by the resistance of the fibrin clot to proteolysis by
plasmin. The generation of plasmin from plasminogen by tissue plasminogen activator is enhanced by
the presence of fibrin, particularly after partial degradation by plasmin. The structure of the fibrin clot
has been reported to significantly modulate both the rate of proteolysis of fibrin by plasmin as well as
the rate of plasmin formation.8 Two previous murine in vivo studies point to an

Family And Family Leave
Did you know that only 12 percent of the American, private sector workforce receives paid family
leave? (Hakobyn 2017). In 1993, the United States created the Family and Medical Leave Act
(FMLA), which allows a full time employee 12 weeks per year of unpaid, protected leave for a
medical illness of a family member, serious personal health conditions, the birth of a child, or the
adoption of a child. An employee is only eligible for the leave if they have worked at least 1,250 hours
over the course of 12 months and if their employer has fifty or more employees located within a 75
mile radius. The United States is one of three countries in the world to not offer mandated parental
leave.Within the United States, only California, Rhode Island, and New Jersey offer mandated paid
parental leave. While the FMLA has been beneficial, paid parental leave gives better benefits
economically to the mother and the business they work for, better health for the child, and mental
health benefits for the mother. Paid parental leave results in high economic benefits for the mother.
Studies find that paid maternity leave results in a higher chance of a woman coming back to work
after the birth of a child. According to a study co written by Mr. Ruhm of the University of Virginia,
mothers located in California that took leave were six percent more likely to return to their job a year

The Ones Who Walked Away From Omelas Essay
Ursula Le Guin s short story, The Ones Who Walked away from Omelas, is Guin s depiction of the
relationship between societies and the maintenance of animalistic instinct in man. Omelas is described
as a luxurious sophisticated Utopia, that is completely self efficient, however it participates in
ritualistic public neglect of some children. They, the society of Omelas, cage certain children and put
their suffering on display for the whole City, and World to see. As the reader we must ask ourselves
what do societies need to be societies? It is clear when looking at historical context, and the fictional

misery (Guin 5). Why would this be? Look at the negative aspect of successful societies. Germany
right before WW2. Germany was a broke country, with no infrastructure. The Nazi party gained public
traction by assigning hate to the Jewish community. The Nazi party used Jews as their outlet for public
angry. The jews have money when we are poor, the jews are the reason for Germany s downfall.
Germany s infrastructure and economy started to rebuild at rates never seen before in World

Question 2 Part (c)
Report on the unique characteristic of qualitative and quantitative research strategy
Quantitative and qualitative researches are based on different paradigms. Qualitative research strategy
focuses mainly on words, human behaviour in the cultural context, attitudes and life experiences
rather than numerical data (IPA Research Strategy. 2010). It focuses on collecting information to
confirm how the variables interrelate. It is subjective and always relies on the interpretation of the
situation of the individual undertaking the study.
As for the quantitative it put emphasis on specific standard or numerical data and applies different
kind of statistical analysis. The researcher always stays independent, apart and uses random sampling
to prevent personal prejudices to misrepresent the results which can easily be generalized (IPA
Research Method, 2010).
Both strategies have their own characteristics.
Table 1 below illustrates different characteristic of the two strategies (H.J. Streubert D.R. Carpenter,
1999). QUALITATIVE QUANTITATIVE Several realities Particular reality

Plato s Ideal City
The Ideal City In Plato s book Republic he describes what he thinks would be an ideal city, for this
city to be ideal it would have to be just. In his just city there are three classes of people; gold, silver,
and bronze/iron; known as the National Division of Labor. The guardians of the city are placed in the
gold category, the auxiliaries in the silver, and the farmers and craftsmen are in the bronze/iron
category. Plato argues that the National Division of Labor reflects the requirements of nature and
produces a harmonious whole. Wisdom, courage, moderation, and justice are the four virtues that this
ideal city must have to be just. The guardians, also known as philosopher kings, being in the gold class
of the city, are wise, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The city wouldn t be able to exist without the bronze/iron category; the farmers and craftsmen grow
all the food and make every product that is needed. If I had to choose which category I would like to
be in I would choose the bronze/iron category. I wouldn t prefer to be in the gold or silver category
because I wouldn t want my life completely controlled and not be able to have any privacy. Having
my life all about the rest of the city and having my life planned out isn t something that I would enjoy,
I would want to make my own decisions and not having them made for me. Sure you could say that
that is selfish and unjust but that is what would truly make me happy. Plato says that to truly be happy
that you have to flourish and thrive as opposed having pleasure. I think that if I was in the bronze/iron
class that I would flourish and thrive because in that class I have more opportunities to succeed in
different areas of life. In the bronze/iron class you are able to live your own life, the life you want to
live instead of being told what to do and how to live every day. In this ideal and just city, everyone:
the guardians, auxiliaries, and farmers and craftsmen, have to do their own task, otherwise it wouldn t
be just. The people in these three classes all have to flourish and thrive in whichever class they are in.
The guardians can t do the job of

Knee Injury
The knee is one of the largest and most complex joints in the body. The main parts of the knee joint
are bones, ligaments, tendons, cartilages and a joint capsule.
Knee injury is a very common condition that is frequently encountered in general practice. Knee
injuries may change the life style of the patients and the early diagnosis is of a great value in the
treatment of these injuries. MRI can improve the diagnostic accuracy, which may reduce the time and
accelerate rehabilitation after injury.
Magnetic resonance imaging represents the optimal imaging tool in the evaluation of the knee injuries,
which has been shown to be an accurate and non invasive method of demonstrating the presence and
extent of injuries of the

Search for an Alternative Fuel Source for Automobiles
Search for an Alternative Fuel Source for Automobiles Since it s invention and birth in 1886
automobiles have influenced the world in a huge way. It saved people a lot of energy, time and money.
Motorized wagons replaced horse carriages and within a few decades Ford started making affordable
models of cars with higher efficiency, which revolutionized the concept of transportation. The first
ever car that was built was powered by steam. But with development in science and technology other
efficient fuel sources were invented. The present day cars run on petrol (gasoline), diesel, and
electricity and even sound. With the increased depletion of coal and coal derived products, the
continued use of automobiles is becoming uncertain. Energy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However the anti knocking properties of diesel is measured by its cetane number. The cetane number
is the measurement of the anti knocking and the combustion quality of diesel. It is the equivalent of
octane number for gasoline. The average value of cetane number for a diesel fuel ranges from 42 to 45
but for premium diesel cetane number can be up to 60. Another important property of fuels is the
calorific value. The calorific value is the amount of heat or energy produced when the fuel is
combusted. Therefore the calorific value determines the output power produced by the fuel. It is either
measured as either gross calorific value or net calorific value. The most commonly method of
comparing calorific values of fuels is net calorific value. The net calorific value of gasoline is 44400
KJ/Kg. This means that 44400 kilojoules of energy is produced for every kilogram of fuel burnt. In
comparison, the calorific value of diesel is 43400 (Bureau of Energy efficiency, p.4). The calorific
value of diesel is lower than the calorific value of gasoline and hence gasoline has a higher output
power than diesel. The output power is one of the most important factors on which efficiency is
dependent. Hence it can be said that the efficiency if petrol is higher than that of diesel. Since early
20th century the popularity of electric vehicles have been raising. Electric cars were prevalent in early
20th century when

America s Regional Division Is One Of A Kind
A majority of countries around the world are divided regionally, whether that be states or provinces,
and Canada s regional division is one of a kind. Regionalism in Canada is more prevalent than
anywhere else, and each region has a substantial amount of force and sway within Canada. The
strength of regionalism in Canada stems from its federal government system, Canada s geological
make up, and the prominence of the Quebecois. In the context of Canada, region will be considered as
the provinces within Canada.
Regionalism is defined as The theory or practice of regional rather than central systems of
administration or economic, cultural, or political affiliation (Oxford Dictionary). In the case of

13 ). The nation wide impact of Quebec does not hold true for all regions, as they vary greatly, as the
provinces within Canada cover a very large area of land.
Canada is the second largest country in the world by land mass, yet it is the thirty eighth most
populous country in the world. What that ratio means is a significant distance between the
concentrated masses of people in Canada and the available resources from province to province vary
largely due to the considerable amount of land the provinces occupy. In British Columbia, the
geological make up consists of long coastal region, rainforests, and large mountain ranges, whereas
the province directly next to it is composed of flat fields and numerous pockets of oil. The economy of
each province thus relies on its natural resources, and the vast difference between each province puts
even more importance on the functioning of their respective provincial government. The plethora of
economic sources for each province is a lot to focus on for one central federal government. A
provincial government can pay attention more closely on their respective economic sources, thus
giving a provincial government more power and importance. The regional economies created spur on
cultures and lifestyles associated with it.
Each individual province of Canada has its own unique culture and encompass other

Marc Chagall s Over Vitebsk
Jasmine Walthall Erik Day Art Appreciation 22 April 2015 Marc Chagall s Over Vitebsk Most artist
art work reflects the artist s inner self, their feelings and thoughts about the world around them. Art is
a way for artists to let whatever is in, out. It is also a way for them to show his or her inner thoughts
and feelings about something to the rest of the world. Whether it be Upton Sinclair showing the world
the nastiness of the meat packing industry and the struggles of the low class immigrants of America
through his book The Jungle or how Taylor Swift express all of her heartbreak in every song she has
recorded, art serves the purpose of conveying the artist s thoughts and emotions. Marc Chagall s
painting is no different than any other artist. He is expressing his feelings through a work of art. Over
Vitebsk gives us a look into his thoughts and inner most feelings. He expresses his thought and feeling
about being Jewish and how Jewish people were treated in his society at this time period. His painting
and better and holds more meaning then Taylor Swift but she was one of the first people to come to
mind. His painting, Over Vitebsk, allows us, the viewers, to interpret and try to understand these
thoughts and feelings, to attempt to see what he intended us to see, and allows us a glimpse into his
inner self. Over Vitebsk concentrates on the subject matter of the Jewish community and how they
were viewed in society. By painting the image of a floating Jewish man in

Fly By Wire Essay
Aircraft Feature; Fly By Wire Technology Fly by wire is a new technology in aircrafts that has
replaced the manual flight control with electronic controls. In this technology the flight control signals
are converted into electrical signals which are transmitted to the processors through electric wires and
the computer determines the movement of the actuators according to the control command (Crane
2002). Moreover, this system sends out certain commands to the computer without any input from the
pilot, these commands are mainly transmitted for a more stable flight. The fly by wire system also
allows automatic signals sent by the aircraft s computers to perform functions without the pilot s input,
as in systems that automatically help stabilize the aircraft. Mechanical and hydro mechanical flight
controls system comprise of all heavy steel cables, metallic pipes with hydraulic fluid, cables and
pulleys which adds to the air craft total weight thus slowing it down and decreasing its full efficiency.
Both systems frequently need unnecessary backup to tackle mechanical failures, which further
increases weight. Additionally, both have inadequate capability to adjust to changing aerodynamic
conditions. Dangerous maneuverability such as stalling, spinning and pilot induced oscillation (PIO),
which is dependent chiefly on the strength and configuration of the aircraft concerned rather than the
control system itself, can still occur with these systems (Crane 2002). The word

The government was more interested in customs duties that they may generate from these incoming
goods, than in the control and regulation of the arrival and stay of foreigners. The functions of
immigration remained under the said bureau until 1937, when it was transferred again as a division
under the Bureau of Labor. This was mainly to respond to the arrival of Chinese nationals who owned
and operated trade houses, stores, and restaurants in the country. On 22 January 1940, the Second
National Assembly of the Philippine Commonwealth enacted the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940
(Commonwealth Act No. 613). It was signed into law by the President of the United States of America
on September 3, 1940, creating the Bureau of Immigration under the administrative supervision of the
Office of the President. A year or so later, it became an attached agency of the Department of Justice.
Later, its administrative control was returned to the Office of the President. When the Pacific war
broke out in December 1941, the Bureau, then under the Department of Justice, moved to the Bilibid
Prison in Azcarraga Street (now Claro M. Recto Avenue) which the Japanese Imperial Army declared
off limits to anyone during the occupation. Immediately after the war, the Bureau was transferred to
the Bacharach Building at Gate 1 of the South Harbor in Manila, then eventually was moved again to
Building No. 5 at the Customs Bureau at Gate 4. In 1945, in line with the

The Theme of Nature in Frankenstein Essay
In 1818 Frankenstein was written by Mary Shelley. In Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein brings a
creature to life. The creature kills William, Henry Clerval, and Elizabeth. Victor had promised to make
a female creature for the creature, but he did not fulfill his promise. This makes the creature enraged.
The creature runs away and Victor follows him. Victor gets on a boat with Walton. Victor dies and the
creature comes and is very sad that his creator has died. The creature says that he must end his
suffering and he jumps into the ocean. In the novel Frankenstein, Shelley uses the theme of nature to
show how it is like the characters of the story and how it affects the characters. The theme of nature is

The creature also wants to be noticed. The mountain is very beautiful, but during the storm it may
look scary. The creature is can be beautiful through his acts of kindness, like helping people, but also
is unattractive and can look and be grotesque. In the essay, Frankenstein and Mary Shelley s wet
ungenial summer , Phillips states, Some of her descriptions were later incorporated into her novel. In
another letter to her sister Fanny, on June 1st 1816, Mary wrote: The thunder storms that visit us are
grander and more terrific than I have ever seen before. We watch them as they approach from the
opposite side of the lake, observing the lightning play among the clouds in various parts of the
heavens, and dart in jagged figures upon the heights of Jura, dark with the shadow of the overhanging
could, while perhaps the sun is shining cheerily upon us. (Phillips 3) Many of Mary Shelley s ideas
came from nature. A storm similar to this one was seen by victor. She uses this storm to describe how
Victor sees the creature. Victor thinks the creature is violent at times and beautiful at others. In
addition, the creature causes destruction like an avalanche. Shelley writes, In a thousand spots the
traces of the winter avalanche may be perceived, where trees lie broken and strewed on the ground;
some entirely destroyed, others bent, leaning upon the rocks of the mountain or transversely upon
other trees. The path, as you ascend higher, is intersected by ravines of the

Gene Expression Lab Report
Through multiple experiments, promoter elements were examined to see how they control gene
expression. The purpose was to learn how a gene is regulated in bacteria, how timing affects activity,
how positive and negative regulation control gene expression, how E. coli mutants respond in plate
assays, and how concentrations of sucrose affects gene expression. ß galactosidase enzyme, also
known as Beta gal or ß gal, was the assay in the experiments. ß galactosidase is an enzyme that breaks
up lactose into galactose and glucose. Furthermore, it is a hydrolase enzyme that catalyzes the
hydrolysis of ß galactosides into monosaccharides.
E. coli is often used in biology labs and is easy to manipulate. E. coli are rod shaped bacteria that are

added to both cultures, and the timer was started. Every 30 minutes over a time period of 90 minutes
2ml was removed from each culture and the initial flask was returned to the 37° environment to

tube, which contained .2ml of water. Tube B was the experimental tube, which contained .2ml of
water and .013M ONPG. The tubes were then incubated in 37° bath water for 20 minutes. After 20
minutes elapsed the tubes were removed and 2.7ml of 1M Na2CO3 was added to each tube. Next 1ml
was transferred from each tube into a cuvette, which was placed in the spectrophotometer at 420nm. A
spectrophotometer, also known as a spec, reads the intensity of light (absorbance level of liquids).
Tube A was inserted first in order to blank the spec, and tube B was second, so we could record the
absorbance of the solution. The absorbance was recorded for each cuvette containing a solution from
tube B. The A420 recordings we were needed to determine ONP produced in mmol and the activity.

  • 2. The New England Area And The Chesapeake Area The English were early settlers in America. Two of their areas of settlement were the New England area and the Chesapeake area. Even though these two places were settled by the same country, both of their societies were very different. The main reasons for their differences were their motives for colonization, slavery, and religion. The main motive of New England was to serve God, and to be a City upon a hill as said by John Winthrop in the Mayflower Compact, document A, We must consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill. They eyes of all people are upon us. Document D also states that they want to share equal planting ground, and that everyone in the colony will have a home. Document B shows that the colony was structured more towards family life. Quotes like We intend by God s grace... to produce some Godly and faithful minister with whom we purpose to join in church covenant to walk in all the ways of Christ, tell you exactly why they are colonizing. Document E says that they intend to not be selfish, but to put others first to that they can avoid the sin of oppression. New England in general was very religious, and they, because of that, tended to be more friendly to each other and also to the Indians than those living in Chesapeake did. The main motive of the Chesapeake area was to make money and to own land in the new world. This is shown by how their colonies starved to death in the beginning. When they arrived in America they thought that there would be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Sexual Cultures In New Spain And New France The sexual cultures of New Spain, New France, and New England evolved differently because of the [d]ifferences in religious orientation, labor systems, demographic composition, and political authority (Peiss 70). A couple of the main religions were catholic and puritan. The labor systems varied greatly since there was farming, trading, or conquest by soldiers. With over a hundred different tribes of Native Americans throughout the Americas as well as the Spanish, French Canadians, and English, the demographic composition was very different in each settlement and colony (Anderson Bricker Native Americans Notes). The political authority for the Spanish on conquest and missions was military officials and the Franciscans, while the political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, if a woman did perform the responsibilities of a man her hidden male organs would emerge. Due to this belief, the distinction between men and women were defined by the clothes they wore and the jobs they performed. When people such as Thomas Hall crossed dressed by wearing women s clothes and doing a woman s job of needle work, they disrupted the social order of the colony ( Thomas or Thomasine? 78). If a man believed that Thomas was a woman and approached Thomas in a sexual manner the man unknowingly would be committing a crime of sodomy, which the punishment for this crime is to be put to death ( Massachusetts Colony s Laws 71). The definition of sodomy in New England was when sexual relations occurred within the same sex (Godbeer 95, 96). Due to the religious views of New England bestiality, sex with animals, was viewed as having sex with the Devil himself ( William Bradford Witnesses 76). The economic problem caused by sex with slaves or indentured servants was that the women would be unable to work for a year or two if they became pregnant thus the masters would lose valuable workers they paid for. Until, however, Jackie Robinson defied this and made a change for the better. He was the first African American in America to be in the major leagues of baseball, although many people did not agree with this. In today s business market, it is nearly impossible to open up 60 grocery stores in Toronto in less than 10 years. The reason being is that the grocery retail industry is now becoming or has become an Oligopoly. When one is walking through the streets of Canada looking at places to shop for groceries, one may stumble across several options of grocery stores to choose from. • 10. Placing The Blame On Hale s The Crucible Placing the Blame on Hale The town of Salem, Massachusetts was a quiet, uneventful town for quite some time. When accusations of witchcraft began circling certain members of the community, Reverend Parris called in outside help. Reverent John Hale came from Beverly, the next town over. He strongly believes that everyone has a good side, though that belief sometimes alters his perception of people. Though his attempts to help were noble, he could have prevented over fifty deaths by staying out of Salem. Hale becomes the primary cause of the witch hunts because he s overly trusting, kind, and often rushes to solve complex problems in Arthur Miller s The Crucible. As a general rule, Hale believes most of what he s told, without questioning the truth of it. Not long after coming to Salem, Hale begins questioning members of the community about witchcraft. To Abigail, he asks, Did you call the Devil last night? (481 Miller), to which she replies, seemingly fearfully, I never called him! Tituba, Tituba... (481 Miller). To the reader, it s rather obvious that Abigail is attempting to blame Tituba for her suspicious actions. Parris interrupts, asking, She called the Devil? (481 Miller), and Hale begins to shift his suspicion, saying, I should like to speak with Tituba. (481 Miller). Nearly immediately after Hale has another person to focus his questioning on, he accepts Abigail s story and moves on. Hale could have avoided this by noting the name, but continuing to ... • 11. William the Holy Conqueror Even though William the Conqueror descended from a line of Vikings who had lived in France for over 200 years, William had more of an impact on the English language than the majority of influential English born people of the time. The French speaking Normans brought a whole new vocabulary to England, whose language was closely related to German. (Barlow 8). He even introduced the Norman legacy of building castles, including the Tower of London. Although he is most well known for the Norman invasion of 1066 that overthrew the Anglo Saxon reign which had lasted for over six centuries, William was a very religious man. He was moral and righteous by the standards of the time, and devoted much of his time to the Norman church. William was born in 1028 and was the only son of Duke Robert I of Normandy who later died on a voyage to Jerusalem. After his father s death in 1035, he was knighted at the age of fifteen and the Norman magnates accepted William as duke even though he was an illegitimate child; he was actually known as William the Bastard. This caused William serious problems later in life and he had to overcome several massive obstacles one of which was surviving numerous rebellions; which his mother somehow got him through. William relied heavily on King Henry I of France for protection. He faced substantial difficulty maintaining control over Normandy but by his early twenties he emerged a powerful leader. William then gathered an army to protect his estate. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Meaning Of Galatian s Life By The Spirit Have you ever wondered what it means to walk by the Spirit? Or what the Fruits of the Spirit truly mean when applied to your life? Are you struggling with sin or maybe with issues you would not identify as sin that do not feel right? Paul addresses these issues in Galatians 5:13 26 by showing us what Life by the Spirit truly means. Paul wrote this Epistle to defend himself and his ministry since many false teachers were telling the Galatians otherwise and as a wake up call for the people of Galatia. Many took his message and applied it to their lives, but continued to live in sin with one another. Paul wrote this book out of frustration because he was disappointed in the Galatians for turning away from his teachings so quickly. Paul wanted to let the Galatians know that they are no longer under Jewish law and should not have to be circumcised to follow the Lord; they are free in Christ. Paul spends the majority of passage talking about the Spirit and the flesh. The first thing you should identify is what the flesh means. The flesh is a metaphor for our sinful nature, not necessarily referring to the organ, flesh or skin. The Spirit is known as the Holy Spirit or our conscience to make decisions. In verse 13 18 Paul is speaking directly to the people by using the pronoun, you. He is letting the people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To do this he did five major things, he started eating locally, stopped producing carbon emissions, stopped polluting the air and water, limited his throw away waste, and stopped excessively consuming goods. No Impact Man started eating locally. He did this to stop contributing to over exploitation of food resources. He ate food that only grew close to him, and he went to many of the places where his food was grown and looked at how they were farming. He also had a compost bin in his kitchen for food waste. I think we could all buy some of our food locally, going to the places it is grown may not be something everyone is interested in doing, but we can all support our local farmers market. Controversy Regarding Cannabis-Related Legislations in Canada There is presently much controversy regarding Cannabis related legislations in Canada, as while there is a great deal of individuals supporting conditions in the present, there are also numerous people who are against contemporary laws. It is presently illegal to grow cannabis plants in Canada, but the authorities allow cannabis to be consumed for medical purposes. Many people in Canada believe that cannabis should be legalized in the country, with some of the most recent polls pointing toward the belief that the majority of individuals in the country consider that the substance should not be illegal. Although it would be difficult to assess the effects that legalizing cannabis would have, it is only safe to assume that the government should express more tolerance concerning the substance, considering that more than half of Canada s population has expressed its support in regard to the drug. Individuals who consume cannabis for recreational purposes are certain that the fact that this substance is included in the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as illegal is proof that the authorities directly discriminate them on account of their substance orientation. Canada has a history in debating the use of cannabis and the circumstances when it can be beneficial for the consumer and for society as a whole. More accurately, Lichtman is revealing how the conservative movement, through the joining of the knowledge, influence, and resources from the businesses that invest themselves in the movement, works with the religious side s passion to form a workable base. The first faction of the conservative movement we will analyze is the traditionalist faction. Dunn views the traditionalists as the original leaders of the modern conservative movement. He states they provided intellectual leadership spanning many years. This faction was horrified about the projects to expand government, such as the New Deal and the Great Society. Looking to foreign affairs, they were against the threat of communism (Dunn, vii). James Ceaser includes that presently traditionalists have become defenders of the culture (Dunn, 23). Ceaser believes they prefer change that comes naturally rather than change that is created and forced. In this way they aim to conserve by keeping more of a status quo or what gradually evolves in politics from situations. This seems to reveal the current situation in which a dramatic change in health care was forced upon the American people, for disapproval continues to be greater than approval (Rasmussen Reports, LLC). If left untreated the infection can spread to the uterus or fallopian tubes, possibly resulting in pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). Pelvic inflammatory disease can damage the reproductive tract and cause infertility issues. In pregnant women, this STD can increase the chance of premature birth and complications such as pneumonia in the baby. Symptomatic men most often experience urethritis, and sometimes epididymitis, an inflammation of a tube near the testicles responsible for storing sperm. Both men and women can experience rectal pain or discharge. I found this very interesting because I m an international student, and one of the most things I would love to do is share my culture with other people. A majority of people assume negative or misleading thoughts about different cultures. People have strong opinions and ways of thinking. From there, a conductivity test proved that the unknown compound conducted 1.1 volts of electricity, meaning the compound contained both positively and negatively charged ions that move around to conduct the electricity. The potassium ion has an emission spectrum that is mainly blue and purple, with some red and yellow lines (Petty). Combined, they form or lilac, sometimes pinky lilac color. This is consistent with the results of the experiment. Some possible discrepancies did occur in the initial identification of the cation in the unknown. At first the flame burned slightly orange, indicating the cation could have been sodium. But, with further testing and the use of a filter, the flame burned light pinky purple multiple times after. This indicates that the burner was not fully clean and trace amounts of sodium could have existed in the range of the flame. With more thorough testing and comparison, the identification of the cation as potassium stands true. To test the anion present in the compound, the investigators mixed the unknown with other known compounds and observed the resulting reactions. The first anion test was performed by mixing the unknown solution and silver nitrate and then adding in ammonium. No precipitate was formed from that reaction so the unknown compound could not be bromide or iodide. The second anion test was performed by mixing the unknown solution with barium chloride. Europeans invested large sums of money abroad, building railroads and ports, mines and plantations, factories and public utilities. Trade between nations grew greatly and a world economy developed. The general failure of this traditionalist response then led large masses to accept European rule, which did bring some improvements. A third response was the modernist response of Western educated natives, who were repelled by Western racism and attracted by Western ideals of national independence and economic progress. In this issue of Blood, Machlus et al investigated the effects of high fibrinogen levels using a combination of murine models of thrombosis and in vitro studies, to show that high fibrinogen leads to increased formation of thrombi that are more resistant to proteolytic degradation.1 These findings are important because it has long been debated whether elevated fibrinogen causes thrombosis or not. There are clearly a number of mechanisms by which higher levels of fibrinogen could cause thrombosis, including increased blood viscosity, increased fiber density of the fibrin clot, increased resistance of the fibrin clot to fibrinolysis, and altered mechanical properties of the fibrin clot (see figure). While clinical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fibrin is the main structural component of the thrombus. The conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin by thrombin leads to one of the most remarkable processes in biology in which fibrin spontaneously forms a gel by producing fibers that grow longitudinally as well as laterally, with branch points forming and interconnecting the fibers leading to the formation of a 3 dimensional network that binds platelets and traps other blood cells. Even after the gel point, the architecture of the fibrin network can change quite dramatically.7 Other plasma proteins such as factor XIII, α2 antiplasmin, and fibronectin interact with the fibrin and alter its structural and functional properties. Once the fully organized thrombus is formed, its life span is determined by the resistance of the fibrin clot to proteolysis by plasmin. The generation of plasmin from plasminogen by tissue plasminogen activator is enhanced by the presence of fibrin, particularly after partial degradation by plasmin. In 1993, the United States created the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), which allows a full time employee 12 weeks per year of unpaid, protected leave for a medical illness of a family member, serious personal health conditions, the birth of a child, or the adoption of a child. An employee is only eligible for the leave if they have worked at least 1,250 hours over the course of 12 months and if their employer has fifty or more employees located within a 75 mile radius. The United States is one of three countries in the world to not offer mandated parental leave.Within the United States, only California, Rhode Island, and New Jersey offer mandated paid parental leave. While the FMLA has been beneficial, paid parental leave gives better benefits economically to the mother and the business they work for, better health for the child, and mental health benefits for the mother. Paid parental leave results in high economic benefits for the mother. Studies find that paid maternity leave results in a higher chance of a woman coming back to work after the birth of a child. According to a study co written by Mr. Ruhm of the University of Virginia, mothers located in California that took leave were six percent more likely to return to their job a year later (Miller 2015). No matter where the supply function is located on the organizational chart; each member of the supply organization has the opportunity to improve relations with internal customers and suppliers. The first ever car that was built was powered by steam. But with development in science and technology other efficient fuel sources were invented. The present day cars run on petrol (gasoline), diesel, and electricity and even sound. However the anti knocking properties of diesel is measured by its cetane number. The cetane number is the measurement of the anti knocking and the combustion quality of diesel. It is the equivalent of octane number for gasoline. The average value of cetane number for a diesel fuel ranges from 42 to 45 but for premium diesel cetane number can be up to 60. Another important property of fuels is the calorific value. The calorific value is the amount of heat or energy produced when the fuel is combusted. Therefore the calorific value determines the output power produced by the fuel. It is either measured as either gross calorific value or net calorific value. The most commonly method of comparing calorific values of fuels is net calorific value. The net calorific value of gasoline is 44400 KJ/Kg. This means that 44400 kilojoules of energy is produced for every kilogram of fuel burnt. In comparison, the calorific value of diesel is 43400 (Bureau of Energy efficiency, p.4). The calorific value of diesel is lower than the calorific value of gasoline and hence gasoline has a higher output power than diesel. The output power is one of the most important factors on which efficiency is dependent. Hence it can be said that the efficiency if petrol is higher than that of diesel. • 45. Fly By Wire Essay Aircraft Feature; Fly By Wire Technology Fly by wire is a new technology in aircrafts that has replaced the manual flight control with electronic controls. In this technology the flight control signals are converted into electrical signals which are transmitted to the processors through electric wires and the computer determines the movement of the actuators according to the control command (Crane 2002). Moreover, this system sends out certain commands to the computer without any input from the pilot, these commands are mainly transmitted for a more stable flight. The fly by wire system also allows automatic signals sent by the aircraft s computers to perform functions without the pilot s input, as in systems that automatically help stabilize the aircraft. Mechanical and hydro mechanical flight controls system comprise of all heavy steel cables, metallic pipes with hydraulic fluid, cables and pulleys which adds to the air craft total weight thus slowing it down and decreasing its full efficiency. Both systems frequently need unnecessary backup to tackle mechanical failures, which further increases weight. Additionally, both have inadequate capability to adjust to changing aerodynamic conditions. Dangerous maneuverability such as stalling, spinning and pilot induced oscillation (PIO), which is dependent chiefly on the strength and configuration of the aircraft concerned rather than the control system itself, can still occur with these systems (Crane 2002).
