Assess the Impact of Interference by Foreign Powers on...
Assess the impact of interference by foreign powers on China s development in the 20th century
During the 20th century China underwent a massive transformation. In the early 1900s China was a
mass of land lacking any real political cohesion and so was plagued by disputes between the many
ruling warlords. However, by the year 2000 China was considered a major contender on the world
stage and still is today; it almost seems certain that China will become the most powerful nation on
earth in the next 50 years. This major transformation is seen to be a great success of China,
considering the relatively short amount of time in which it was accomplished, but the question still
remains as to whether entire credit should be given to China ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Despite the burgeoning hope of a strong independent China, free of the exploitation of foreign powers,
Sun Yat Sen s aims were not achieved. However, this laid the basis for China s ideal of developing
their own independence.
A politician of great significance was Mao Zedong, the first Chairman of the People s Republic of
China. He had possibly the largest impact on the development of China, particularly with policies such
as his agricultural reform. Foreign interference, by way of Japan s invasion (1937 49), had had a great
negative effect on economic development. Their original intent to exploit China s resources was
manifested in mass murder across the country (the rape of Nanking being a focussed example of this)
and such destruction of infrastructure and mass looting that instances of cannibalism became quite
widespread. Hence, it was to Mao that much of the task of reforming and rebuilding fell. Mao s
greatest achievement, and the core of any development free of foreign interference, was his success in
harnessing the unquenchable spirit of the Chinese people. Their unrelenting efforts went some way to
counteracting the

Sexually Transmitted Infections And Young Adults
Sexually Transmitted Infections in young adults
Justin Dwayne Wood
Park University

Background Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) in young adults have been a concern of mine
since I was in high school. I grew up in California and it seemed that the spread of STIs was always
talked about. I lived about one and a half hours from San Francisco and the transmission of HIV
always seemed that it was a problem in that area. I grew up afraid that if I had sex I would contract a
STI the first time I had sex. This was mostly due to concern the school made of STIs. During my high
school years we had several classes on sex education. These classes seemed to put more effort on
abstinence than anything else. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The U.S. has spent over one billion dollars on abstinence only programs that do not work, it is time
that the U.S. governments starts investing in to a program that will work. I believe that the best way to
help prevent the passing of STIs is through proper education. Our young adults deserve to know the
proper way to protect themselves and the risk of having unprotected sex. Without proper education on
prevention methods our STI rates will not drop. These education methods need to be delivered in way
that is appropriate as well, they must be able to get the class involved on the topic and make sure that
they understand it. I know that when I was in school anytime we had a sex education class it was
delivered in a way where questions were not easily asked. It was more of a situation where you are
told the information and do not need to worry about it afterwards which is completely wrong. The
information that people learn on sex in schools will be with them for the rest of their life. It needs to
be good information that will assist them in make appropriate decisions on sex. Most people will
eventually have sexual intercourse at some point in their life that is why it is so important that the
information they receive teaches them how to protect themselves against not only STIs but, unwanted
sexual advances. There is also the family that

What Does The Paper Lantern Symbolize Blanche Dubois
Symbolism of light:
The paper lantern is shown to have meaning towards the main character insecurities, it covers up who
she really is but in her eyes its her ugly side.
I can t stand a naked light bulb no more that I can stand a rude remark or vulgar action ( page 55 )
Blanche compares her last relationship to light by explaining when he committed suicide it was like
the light to her life went out. That dark space that surrounded her after his death was her going around
with other guys in a way she was searching for that light.
Blanch shows how there s no light in her life anymore and knows there will never be light at the end
of the tunnel so she accepts it finds the good in it. She hides who she is, she guards her feeling by
every person.

Blanche s fear of light is making her go crazy
Stanley:...God, honey it s gonna be sweet when we can make the noise in the night the way that we

In this quote it shows how stanley sees darkness from blanch. Blanch lacks color is the way he s
putting it, that she puts a dent into everything around her and it s ruining stella and stanley s
relationship with all this darkness.
Blanch explains how candles are safe because they burn little girls and boys eyes, and that makes you

She [Blanche] takes off the blouse and stands in her pink silk brassiere and white skirt in the light
through the portieres. The game has continued in undertones.

Social Darwinism Is An Ideology Of Society
Social Darwinism is an ideology of society that seeks to apply biological concepts of the laws of
evolution by natural selection of evolutionary theory to sociology and politics, often with the
assumption that conflict between groups in society leads to social progress as superior groups
outcompete inferior ones. How we got to the point of coining the modern term of Social Darwinism
we would have to turn to the famous man himself, Charles Darwin.
At first glance, Charles Darwin seems an unlikely revolutionary. Born in 1809, Charles grew up a shy
and unassuming member of a wealthy British family. He appeared, at least to his father, to be lazy and
directionless. But even as a child, Darwin expressed an interest in nature. Later in 1831, ... Show more

These better adapted beings, which contribute so much to the genetic complement of following
generations of their population, are said to have greater reproductive fitness. Hence the use, and
popularization, of the phrase: survival of the fittest. (This expression is often attributed to Charles
Darwin and, although it appears in the fifth edition of his Origin of Species, 1869, it is there attributed
to Herbert Spencer.)
By fittest , of course, Spencer and Darwin didn t have in mind the commonly used meaning of the
word now, that is, the most highly qualified and/or physically adequate. The fittest referred to here, are
those animals which are the most suited to their environment, that is, those which are best fitted to
survive.
Not only did Darwin theorize that animals and plants evolved into different species through a process
of natural selection and survival of the fittest , he claimed that humans were animals themselves,
subject to the same selection process that played out in nature . This theory was then applied to
economic life. Attempts to reform society through state intervention or other means would, therefore,
interfere with natural processes; unrestricted competition and resistance of the status quo were in
accord with biological selection. The poor were the unfit and should not be

Chemical Reaction On Chemical Kinetics

Chemical Kinetics
Objective:
This experiment runs many reactions varying the concentrations of the reactants in order to determine
the order for each component and the rate constant.
Introduction:
Chemical kinetics is the study of how fast a chemical reaction occurs and the factors that affect the
speed of reaction.1 Reaction rates are the measure of how much the concentration of reactants change
during a given reaction.1 The rate of change of the reactants, Rate = Ī” [X]/Ī”t, is related to the slope of
the concentration vs. time graph.1 From observing reaction rates, the overall order of the reaction and
the rate constant can be calculated by using the integrated rate laws. For a zero order reaction, the rate
law can be written as [A]t = kt + [A]0, where [A]t is the concentration at a given time, k is the
negative slope, t is the time, and [A]0 is the initial concentration.2 Using the same variables, a first
order reaction can be written as ln[A]t = kt + ln[A]0 and a second order can be written as 1/[A]t = kt +
1/[A]0.2 On a graph, these concentrations are plotted vs. time, allowing the R2 value and equation of
the line to be calculated. The R2 value is used in determining the order of the reaction. The closer the
R2 value is to 1, the more likely that the graph displays the correct reaction order. The y=mx+b
equation provides information about the slope and y intercept, essential when determining the order
and rate constant.

They also need to raise the price point for a single transaction. This combination of higher margins
and higher price points increases the contribution the amount of money that goes to covering fixed and
operating costs generated from every transaction.
That s a tall order. But my experience leading businesses in Africa, India, and other emerging
economies shows that it can be done. In this article, I will show how to build a margin boosting
platform that can help companies solve the cost problems inherent in bringing needed products and
services to very poor markets. A few companies are already using aspects of a platform to improve
their profitability prospects, and S.C. Johnson, the householdproducts maker, has launched an
integrated margin boosting platform for selling insecticide in rural Ghana as part of an effort to reduce
malaria infection there. Initial results for that venture show the financials moving in the right
direction.

Eyewitness Testimony, Helpful or Hinderance
Eyewitness evidence can be fundamental when it comes to solving crimes, however, with the
increasing number of cases now being exonerated by DNA evidence, the questions lies, what degree
of confidence should be placed on the evidence of the eyewitnesses alone? Countless factors are
associated with the accuracy and consistency of eyewitness evidence, such as line up content, line up
instructions, the questioning techniques of interviewers and notably the gender and/or age of the
witness. Eyewitness testimony may not always be accurate, but despite its weaknesses, by using
empirical studies to guide reforms, eyewitness testimony can be an extremely beneficial instrument in
the criminal justice system. Inaccurate evidence is not necessarily ... Show more content on

Therefore the age of an eyewitness is an important point to note when considering the accuracy of
eyewitness identification, especially with the case of very young children providing significantly
inferior accuracy than adults if questioned incorrectly. When children are questioned in the same
method as adults, misinterpretation and errors can weaken the child s credibility and the accuracy of
their testimony. The fact however remains that eyewitness testimony can be beneficial if caution is
exercised when interviewing children so as to not repeat questions, suggest information, or allow for
interviewer assumptions and/or bias.
As well as age, the gender of an eyewitness has been consistently linked to issues with the accuracy
and consistency of evidence. Jacqueline and Wolfgang (1986) referenced one of the earliest empirical
studies of gender differences in eyewitness testimony, that of William Stern (1903 1904) with the
opinion that women s eyewitness testimony was less accurate and less resistant to the influence of
misleading information than men s (Pg. 565). Research has since revealed a female advantage in the
number of details, and the accuracy of memory recall when providing eyewitness testimony. A study
undertaken by Areh (2011) states gender is one of the factors significantly influencing memory recall
(Pg. 559). The study concentrated on sex differences in the accuracy and quantity of memory recall for
specific details of an event (Pg. 559).

My Goals For Student Council
As a student finishing out middle school and entering high school, I had many ambitions for my future
life. I wanted to become a student leader, and, as I went through my freshman year, I wanted to be
involved in Student Council through the Central Minnesota Association of Student Councils
(CMASC). Despite these ambitions, I had two major hurdles that I had to get over in order to reach
these goals: my shyness and my fear of public speaking. In order to achieve my goals for Student
Council, I would have to campaign, get to know others, and speak in front of a large group of them.
However, these activities fell far outside of my comfort zone, and it would take a lot of work to be
able to do these things. In order to encourage myself to overcome these two fears, I decided that I
would continue to pursue my ambition without even considering that I had my reservations. My

Advantages Of Salt Iodine
Iodations of all salt known as USI for both human and animal consumption, is the major global
strategy of choice for feasible and effective control of iodine deficiency. Iodization levels are usually
measured based on estimated consumption of salt, with an estimated individual average consumption
of around 10g of salt per day in countries where most of the salt in the diet comes from table salt, used
for cooking and at the table. It is recommended by the WHO, UNICEF and ICCIDD that, 20 mg to 40
mg of iodine per kg salt be added to food products depending on local salt intake (15, 19, 31). It has
subsequently been recommended that a more cost effective way of addressing the problem of IDD for

The Five Stages Of Sleep
Most sleepers pass through five stages; 1, 2, 3, 4, and REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. A complete
sleep cycle lasts between 90 to 110 minutes, once the cycle is completed it starts back at stage one and
repeats itself. Stage 1 is a very light sleep, where you can drift in and out of sleep and you are easily
awakened. Eye movement and muscle activity will begin to slow down. People most commonly
experience muscle contractions throughout stage 1. When stage 2 begins eye movement has stopped
completely and our brain waves begin to slow down. It is in stage 3 where a person will experience
delta waves in the brain, these are very slow brain waves. The delta waves in stage 3 are intercepted
with a few smaller, faster waves. In stage 4 the brain is only producing delta waves. Stages 3 and 4 are
known as deep sleep, it is very hard to wake someone if they are in a deep sleep because there is no
eye movement or muscle activity. Stages 1 4 are the longest stages of sleep lasting between 4 to 7
hours a night. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sleep epinephrine is released and the person s breathing speeds up and becomes irregular. There is a

muscles are temporarily paralyzed. A person s heart rate and blood pressure rise and their brain waves
are equal to those of a fully awake and functioning person. Most dreams typically occur during REM
sleep due to the fact that the brain is highly active. If a person is waken during REM sleep they are

Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass Religious...
Slavery was a dividing issue in mid nineteenth century America. The north was the closest slaves
could get to a safe place in America, and it was generally thought that the further south in America one
went the worse the conditions for slaves were. With slavery comes violence and with violence comes
guilt and to rid guilt there was religion. The cases of religion being a justifier were highlighted in
Frederick Douglass s Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave (1845). On the
other hand religion is considered a sort of saving grace for the slave protagonist, Tom, in Harriet
Beecher Stowe s Uncle Tom s Cabin (1852). Some Americans at the time saw religion as a reason not
to participate in the violence involved in slavery or even slavery itself while others saw it as the
opposite and used it to intensify their already terrible treatment of slaves. Uncle Tom s Cabin and
Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass highlight and describe these contrasting views in a way

Boy At The Window By Richard Wilbur
Snowmen: More Man than Snow
We are all just snowmen, fragile, emotional, melting into tears, even if no other human being sees us
that way. In the poem Boy at the Window by Richard Wilbur, a young, innocent boy is described
feeling the pain of a snowman about to feel the effects of a winter storm. The different points of view
as well as the speaker s poetic style, which allows for connotation, impacts the story to make it the
quality two stanzas that it is. The speaker s use of two viewpoints is one element of the speaker s style
that impacts the poem. It assists the reader in reading the story from the perspective of the characters,
and let us know their emotions and inner thoughts. This makes for a much more interesting story than
if the story was written from the outsider s perspective. The boy and the snowman s points of view are
not the same, but similar. The boy is in a state of despair after learning that the snowman might be
destroyed by a blizzard, not realizing that the snowman can withstand it because he is also made of
snow. The snowman is content to ride out the blizzard, but sheds an icy tear, moved by the heavy

Billy Collins
Life as A Day There are no two people who will have the same life; the number of years, experiences,
and quality of life are just a few of the things that may change/differ from one person to the next.
However, life will always have a beginning and an end; the day(s) in between those two points is what
makes up a lifetime. In the poem Days by Billy Collins, the temperance of life is portrayed as a day
from start to finish as being synonymous of a lifetime; in other words, life is short and ever changing.
Carpe Diem is what might be said by some. The poem Days is how Billy Collins encourages readers
to seize the day. Each stanza expresses the importance and value of a single day; becoming
increasingly more evident with each line. The transitory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator describes the dawn of a new day as, Today begins cold and bright / the ground heavy
with snow (Collins 5 6). The visual imagery of heavy snow tells the reader that each new day is pure
and a new beginning. Bright and cold is a reference to birth; this is how each day begins. The changes
exhibited through the use of imagery are indicative of the changes that take place throughout a
lifetime. It is easy to visualize each day when the narrator says, this day might be resting somehow /
on the one before it, / all the days of the past stacked high / like the impossible tower of
dishes/entertainers used to build on stage. (Collins 12). The image of each dish placed on top of
another dish compels the reader to see how life has become more complicated, impossible to keep
forever balanced. The imagery used here is much different than the metaphor of fresh snow. This is
how the author expresses time passing, and life is happening. The sense that life is coming to an end is
felt when the narrator says, then holding your breath, / place this cup on yesterday s saucer (Collins 22
23). The imagery prompts the reader to feel uncertainty about the likeliness of another day, but at the
same time wishing very badly for more time. Collins uses imagery to illustrate the fragility of
existence and humanity s quiet desperation to keep going. The poem

causes ofd CAUSES OF COMUNICABLE DISESASE Hillendale Health describes a communicable
disease as one that is passed from human to human through direct or indirect contact. Common ones
include chicken pox, ringworm, influenza, scabies, lice, pinkeye and hepatitis. Prevention includes
good hygiene skills, safe sex and using reputable sources for tattoos, piercing and blood transfusions.

CAUSES OF NON COMUNICABLE DISESASE Risk factors such as a person s background;
lifestyle and environment are known to increase the likelihood of certain non communicable diseases.
They include age, sex, genetics, exposure to air pollution, and behaviours such as smoking, unhealthy
diet and physical inactivity which can lead to hypertension and obesity, in turn leading to increased
risk of many NCDs.[4] Most NCDs are considered preventable because they are caused by modifiable
risk factors. The WHO s World Health Report 2002 identified five important risk factors for non
communicable disease in the top ten leading risks to health. These are raised blood pressure, raised
cholesterol, tobacco use, alcohol consumption, and overweight.[5] Other factors associated with
higher risk of NCDs include a person s economic and social conditions, also known as the social
determinants of health. It has been estimated that if the primary risk factors were eliminated, 80% of
the cases of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes and 40% of cancers could be prevented.
Interventions targeting the main risk factors could have a significant impact on reducing the burden of
disease worldwide. Efforts focused on better diet and increased physical activity have

Musically Inspired Movements Essays
From infancy to adulthood, music has been a huge part of our lives. Whether one is listening to their
favorite song in the car or out at a social event, music not only is very entertaining, but possesses the
ability to influence specific behaviors in an individual. With music, various emotions are triggered
using schema s and person level and context level construct s. Schema s are like a folder in a
document that collects and combines a host of day to day interactions in the everyday life of an
individual. For example, think about every time you have attended a birthday party. By attending
multiple birthday parties, you then have a schema of what to expect and not to expect at a birthday
party. This concept is also applied to music. Our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Michael Jackson hoped that society would be aware about the mismanagement of the Earth. As a
result, the Earth Song was given much attention. This musical piece was able to change many people s
perspective towards the Earth as the song raised awareness around the world just as Michael hoped
for. However, when hearing his musical piece, individual s reacted differently between one another
(Barret et al, 2010). While many people finally became aware of how mistreated the world we live in
is, not everyone was touched on an emotional aspect due to person level constructs (Barret et al,
2010). However, even until this day, the Earth Song will remain relevant until the world is healed of
our mismanagement. Also during the late 1990 s, another movement was starting to begin in the Hip
Hop industry between two prominent stars, Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G, also known as Biggie
Smalls. Both were the biggest names in Hip Hop. The rivalry split between the East Coast, led by
Biggie Smalls and Bad Boy Records and the West Coast represented by Tupac and Death Row
Records. Although the focal point between this feud was between the two Hip Hop stars, the behavior
of fans altered as they too were getting involved by choosing between the two sides. Nonetheless, both
Tupac and Biggie lived a short life. Yet, the deaths of both Tupac and Biggie gave the real world of
Hip Hop pathos. After their deaths, both musicians emerged as one of Hip Hop s greatest icons. Due to

Beach Box Essay
Every night for the last twenty years I have strolled down the same beach, the same path and at the
same time. My life was boring but I loved it. In one week that was all about to change. It was the 26th
of October. The nights were getting darker and colder. I put on my coat, shoes, scarf and picked up the
house keys and prepared for my daily walk. The beach was quite near, only two minutes away.
The tide was high. The moonlight glistened off the waves which were gently stroking the sand when
they fell and rustled as they moved across the sea shells. The horizon was clear as far as you could see.
The smell of seaweed and salt was strong and the air was fresh. It was bitterly cold ... Show more

Every minute seemed like an hour. My stomach was full of butterflies. After three large scotches I was
on the verge of becoming drunk. I could not be tipsy. I had to be fully awake.
I spent the rest on the day sitting on the sofa staring at the clock. 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4 pm, 5pm .......
9pm. I had to be getting ready. It was now or never. I picked up a shovel and got dressed in black. I
left the house at 11pm.
It was foggy and stingingly chilly. The streetlamps reflected off the fog which created an eerie
atmosphere. The moon gazed at me. Questions started popping up in my mind. Would it still be there?
Was it really a body? Should I go to the police?
I arrived at the scene and could distinguish the spot where the sand has been tossed. I started to dig.
My arms began to ache and felt burning hot but I ignored the pain and strived on. I must have dug
over one metre of sand and I could still see nothing. I noticed a hint of movement out of the corner of
my eye. I glanced around to check if anyone was there but I could see no one, just the man in the
moon. Suddenly I heard a thud. I had hit something. I fell to my hands and knees and brushed off the
rest of the sand. The box had handles on it and I used them to lift it out of the sand. The lid was sealed
down so I used the spade to wedge it off and what I saw astounded me. It was full of rifles. So it was

Fiscal and Monetary Policy and Economic Fluctuations
The global economy was relatively doing fine more than five years ago before it was hit by economic
downturn or recession. During this period, the American economy was at its peak, particularly in the
fourth quarter of 2007. However, this was followed by a mild recession at the beginning of 2008,
which eventually turned into a severe credit crisis across the world approximately one year later.
While only a few countries escaped the economic recession, virtually no country could avoid the
severe bear markets in stock (Norris, 2012). Some countries like the United States experienced
changes in gross domestic product and stock markets. Since it has the best record of the main

The rate of inflation in the United States declined to a 4 year low in October 2013 and reached its
lowest rate since October 2009. According to recent releases, the inflation rate in the United States
eased to 1 percent in October 2013, which was a 0.2 percent decline from the previous month. Interest
rates in the United States have continued to rise, particularly on 10 year Treasury bonds. In February
this year, these rates had risen to 2.27 percent, which was an indication of approximately 10 percent
loss in the price of the bond. Nonetheless, the Federal Reserve has kept the interest rate on long term
bonds to an unexpected low through its unconventional monetary policy. This implies that the main
reason for the current interest rates is the unconventional monetary policy i.e. quantitative easing
regarding the purchase of huge amounts of Treasury bonds and other long term assets.
On the contrary, the unemployment rate has remained extremely high at around 7.3 percent from its
peak of 10 percent in October 2009. While there has been a significant decline in the current rate of
unemployment as compared to five years ago, it is still relatively high. The decline in the rate of
unemployment in the past five years is attributed to the addition of jobs by employers, though most of
them are part time and low paying. This rate is also fueled by the decline in portion

RenƩ Laennec invented the stethoscope in 1816. He invented it because one time he was working with
a female patient and he needed to listen to her heartbeat. At the time the common way to do this was
to place your head on the patient s chest. His patient was overweight so he thought that the head to
chest method would not work so he needed something new. He rolled up a sheet of paper into a tube
and placed one end on the patient s chest. The tube magnified sound, and Laennec found he could hear
her lung sounds easily by putting his ear to the open end. The rolled up piece of paper was soon
replaced by a hollow wooden tube. Laennec named his invention the stethoscope . In the 1890s, the
hollow wooden tube was replaced by the rubber and now plastic, binaural stethoscope, much like
stethoscopes that are used today. These stethoscopes have two ear pieces and a bell like end that is
placed on the body. Stethoscopes are not only used to listen to the chest but also other parts of the
body such as the bowels and during pregnancy. Electronic stethoscopes that amplify the sounds in the
chest and produce graphs were first produced in the 1970s and continue to be refined. Science

Disadvantages Of Self Assessment
For an organisation to succeed, self assessment plays an important role. An organisation should know
the various ways to achieve its goals. An assessment report is one way for an organisation to keep

The Farmers Market At The Larger Food Systems Society Essay
The purpose of this report is to explore the Farmers market at Farm to Fork in comparison to the larger
food systems society contains. Food is an important aspect in our everyday lives, however, individuals
often do not take into consideration the different social relations to food. The Farm to Fork was an
interactive public event promoting non GMO and organic food in order to achieve sustainability
within Ontario. In order to describe the importance of this farmers market, Smithers et al (2008),
provide a definition of what a farmers market contains in order to compare these elements to the
industrial food system. I believe the definition that they provide is an accurate representation of what
Farm to Fork wished to achieve. Smithers et al (2008), describe a farmers market as a complex an
ambiguous space where notions of local, quality, authenticity and legitimacy find expression and
transactions around food (p. 337). This paper seeks to not only understand alternative food markets
but to also touch upon the activism promoted by various speakers and vendors. An analysis will also
be provided on specific characteristics seen at this farmers market in comparison to course articles
focusing on farmers market from other experiences. Lastly, exploring the farmers market will allow
for a critical engagement on a comparison and contrast to the course concepts as well as raise
questions on consumer knowledge and understanding.

The Theme Of Sublime Nature In Frankenstein By Mary Shelley
In the novella Frankenstein, Mary Shelley uses geography to further the plot, reveal the true intentions
of characters and convey the novella s theme of sublime nature. The theme of sublime nature is the
idea that nature is comprised of a mixture of terror and beauty. One example of sublime nature
supported by geography is the monster, which is truly a terror in appearance and spirit being born in
Ingolstadt. Shelly contrasts this terror of Ingolstadt to the beauty of Geneva, Frankenstein s birthplace.
Once the fruit of Frankenstein s labor comes to fruition and the horrific monster is born, even
Frankenstein himself is unable to endure the aspect of the being and attempts to cast it away and forget
it (Shelley 101). The apparent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These events are meant to show that terror in the form of the monster has survived in the beauty of
nature, setting out on a journey to achieve spiritual peace. However, the monster, who has traveled
Europe in search of Geneva, in fact seeks and is surrounded by the peace it can never have, as the
terror which resides inside of the monster s soul will not allow it. One such case occurs when spring
begins and the monster is felt [the] emotions of gentleness and pleasure in the sunshine and the
balminess of the air but then realized that he was still lonely and quickly became bitter (Shelley 246).
The vengeance which the monster wishes upon Frankenstein is a manifestation of an eternal fury that
the monster has as a result of the loneliness that Frankenstein has imposed upon him.
The theme of sublime nature is perpetuated by Shelley s incorporation of violence in locations with
beautiful lake and mountain views. As Frankenstein takes a tour of a mountain and glacier he sees
sublime nature in the form of the pallid lightning that played above Mont Blanc, showing that terrors
such as lightning already exist within the domain of the beautiful mountainside (Shelley 167). Shelley
uses this ominous mood to foreshadow Frankenstein s future encounter with another herald of terror,
the monster. Not long after Frankenstein sees an object in the distance and suddenly, A flash of
lightning illuminated the object, the

Understand The Concept Of Play Essay
From an early age children are known to engage in a number of activities in which would feed their
curiosity alongside aiding their development. The main activity in which they would willingly
participate in would be pretend play; play is not something which is only done by children however
can be performed by adults and even animals.
In order to understand play and how it may benefit young children we must first be able to define it,
however this creates the initial issue. This is due to the fact that the concept of play is disreputably
difficult to define (Burghardt 2011). Although despite this we are able to split the concept of play into
four various aspects, as described by Linda Rose Krasnor and Debra J. Pepler (1980), positive affect,
flexibility, intrinsic movement and nonliterality.
Positive affect refers to the idea that individuals who seem as though they are enjoying themselves
whilst they are playing. Flexibility would then touch upon the idea that the play behaviours would

object play as a way to feed their curiosity, it would allow them to explore objects by touching, feeling
and seeing what they would be able to do with it. However as the child ages to roughly 2years + they
would begin to use more than one object and allow their imagination to be free and would see objects
being more then what they are. An example of this would include a child seeing a block of bricks and
using it to build a house. Another example can include a child pretending to be a doctor with an ice

Narrative Essay On Bullfrog
Nearly every kid at some point in their childhood has had a certain toy or item they would do anything

The Effects Of Gratitude
Gratitude also reduces feelings of jealosy, makes our memories happier, lets us experience good
feelings, and helps come out of stress. Materialism is strongly related with reduced well being and
increased rates of mental disorder. There s nothing bad in hoping for more. The problem with
materialism is that it makes people feel less capable, reduces feelings of gratitude, reduces one s
ability to appreciate and enjoy the good in life, generates negative emotions, and makes them more
self centered.
Gratitude also increases your self respect. Imagine a world where no one helps you. Despite your

Reducing Barbecue Dose
The thickness of barbecue sauce is important for more than just its mouth feel. Thin barbecue sauce
does not bind to or coat meat as effectively as a thicker liquid does. There are a number of ways to
make a sauce that is the right texture, some are simpler and more effective than others. Reduction
Reduction is the simplest way to thicken a barbecue sauce. Just heat it and reduce the amount of water
in the sauce via evaporation. While it does take longer to reduce a sauce when compared to other
thickening methods, it does not require you to dilute the sauce. In addition, reduction does not involve

You use it by mixing it with water to form a slurry. While using a cornstarch slurry is not quite as
simple as reduction, it can do the job in less time. Place your sauce in a pot. To add cornstarch, first
mix it with cold water until it is dissolved then pour the slurry into your sauce. Start with a Ā½
tablespoon each of cornstarch and water for a cup of sauce. Note that you want to avoid lumps in your
cornstarch since these may not break down once the cornstarch is heated. Bring your sauce to a boil
and simmer. Within five minutes, your sauce should be noticeably thicker. The more cornstarch you
add, the faster the sauce will thicken and the thicker it will be. Keep stirring with a whisk to keep the
sauce from sticking to the bottom and sides of the pot. Note that many barbecue sauces are highly
acidic and cornstarch has a way of breaking down in acids. If you are making a barbecue sauce with
lots of ketchup or vinegar, you may find that the cornstarch breaks down and does not thicken at all. If
you keep adding more cornstarch, this may result in your sauce taking on a chalky taste. Another
drawback of using cornstarch stems from the fact that you are diluting the other ingredients. Your
sauce will be blander than it would be if you had not used a

The Charge of the Light Brigade by Tennyson The charge of the light brigade by Tennyson was
written about a disastrous military escapade during the Crimean war.
The Crimean war was fought between Russia on one hand and Britain, France and Turkey on the
other. The charge of the light brigade occurred in November 1854 at Balaclava in the Crimea. The Earl
of Cardigan led the charge, and some six hundred cavalrymen took part in it. The brave 600 rode

The emphasis is not on the individual, but rather on the brigade as a whole, and their collective
heroism and sacrifice for their country.
Direct speech is used Forward the Light Brigade! Charge for the guns! To create a sense of
immediacy, to allow you to picture what was actually happening. Exclamatory statements are used to
put emphasis on the ideas of excitement and their collective power.
The instructions given seem incredibly stupid, Charge for the guns! He said; Because it is obvious to
the reader that there is no way that a brigade of horseback soldiers will be able to compete when faced
with cannons. These instructions seem completely irrational, with the results only able to be horrific
losses to the Light Brigade. The semi colon at the end of the line is there to allow the reader a pause to
take in this shocking instruction.
Verse two begins by repeating the instruction to go forth into the valley. It is followed by the rhetorical
question Was there a man dismay d?
The command is described only as a blunder , as though it isn t that big a mistake. Tennyson doesn t
use a very explicit word in his criticism, very possibly because as poet laureate it was part of his job to

Do Video Games Cause Violence And How Does Video Games...
Many people think video games can cause violence. Most of the people reading this would say yes,
that video games do cause violence because a lot of times you see video games connect with violence
on the news, but how often are video games the main reason that the act of violence someone caused
happened. But what is video game violence and how do these scientists classify it? Most importantly
how do you measure aggression? There have been 300 studies give or take between 2005 to 2013. That
s on average 37.5 studies per year over eight years. Yet none has yielded a good answer on if video
games cause violence or not. When it comes down to the risk factors of violence ĀØno single risk factor
consistently leads a person to act out their aggression.ĀØ(Tibi Puiu) Most of these studies were on a time
of two to three hours a day. Along with all of these studies there have been four meta analysis. Meta
analysis is a statistical analysis that combines groups of similar data usually to show the effect size.
With all of this data surely the world would get a good firm answer. Nope, the research has yet to
show a causal relationship. Among kids between the ages of 12 and 17 97% play some sort of game
with violence. (Susan Scuttl) Now violent games can be seen as violent by one person and nonviolent
by another. It s all on perspective People who want to blame video games for real life violence point to
a literary that a person would believe supplies evidence to the association. Counter claim can be
reading a sad book would lead a person to sad thoughts but people say that this doesn t cause
depression. Dr. Christopher Ferguson a professor at Stetson University studies 103 young adults who
were randomized to play no video game, a non violent video game, a violent where they played the
good guy, and a violent video game where they played the bad guy . He found that those kids who had
history of playing violent video games had fewer hostile feeling during a frustration test. Dr.Ferguson
also said that most of the people that show any type of negative thoughts on modern media are much
much older. With that quote most of these so called experiments that show that there a definitive link
between violent behavior and

The Innovative Rise And Effects Of Computer Corporations
THE INNOVATIVE RISE AND EFFECTS OF COMPUTER CORPORATIONS According to The
History, Development, and Importance of Personal Computers of Science and Its Times, in 2001,
estimates believed that there will be 2 billion PCs in use worldwide as of 2014. Today, computers have
changed our modern society. Almost every human being is using a computer either by ordering out a
drive thru at a fast food restaurant or even just surfing the web. Computers allow the world to be
interconnected and people from all over the globe to communicate within seconds. To find the
foundation of computers, we must look at the creation of the first computer and the innovations that
led up to computer corporations. Next, we must examine the rise of large computer ... Show more

Another essential element in creating a computer is the knowledge of how to use electricity ( History,
Development, and Importance ). All computers eventually develop the same basic components: a
CPU, RAM, hard disk drive, input and output devices, and a constant power source (Goldsmith and
Jackson). The first computer became the foundation of all computer development and innovations
were created afterwards to support and improve upon it. According to the article ENIAC from World
of Inventions, the first computer that required the use of electricity was called ENIAC (Electronic
Numerical Integrator and Computer) and it was designed by J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly
during World War II ( ENIAC ). Eckert and Mauchly s ENIAC contained 18,000 vacuum tubes and
required 160,000 watts of power. It weighed thirty tons, and took up over 1,500 square feet ( ENIAC ).
In The Development of Computer Assisted Mathematics in Science and Its Times, ENIAC was built to
use numbers to describe the behavior of explosives, high performance aircraft, and the weather (
Mathematics ). Even though ENIAC s main use was for military purposes, it can also make
meteorology calculations and help with nuclear weapons research ( ENIAC ). According to Brian
Overland, a professional programmer of the C family of languages, electronic . . . made it possible to

Shale Gas Argumentative Essay
To make a good article, you are supposed to have a good claim, evidence, and reasoning. You have to
make a stronger article that is better than all the others. Out of these two articles, The Benefits of
Shale Gas and Stop the Fracking! , Stop the Fracking presents the stronger argument because of their
evidence, claim, and reasoning. The Benefits of Shale gas uses relevant evidence to support his topic.
Mostly in the article, he talks about what shale gas is. It says things such as Shale gas is a type of
natural gas found under a Shale rock. That has nothing to do with the benefits of it.It talks about this
nonsense for about 3 to four paragraphs. In the last paragraph, it talks about the benefits of Shale Gas.
Also, we do not know

The Conflict Between North And South Korea During The...
On August 4th, 2015, two South Korean soldiers were injured by a North Korean landmine, prompting
the South for the first time in eleven years to resume anti North propaganda broadcast via
loudspeakers across the border. These conflicts provoked cross border fire and heated rhetoric,
however China and the United States are usually at the ready to ease friction between the North and
South. For the past 60 years the flames of the North and South Korean conflict have kept burning ever
since the spark of the Korean War. Although a majority of the fire has been extinguished with the 1953
armistice ending the Korean War, the flames of the Korean conflict still live, causing occasional burns
and damage between nations. The political influences of the United States significantly affected the
conflict between North and South Korea during the Korean War and have continued to affect this
conflict for the past 60 years by means of military involvement, oppression of communism, and
conflicting interests with other nations. The United States military involvement significantly affected
the conflict between North and South Korea during the Korean War and is still affecting this conflict
today by means of overall war efforts and nuclear weapons. During the events leading towards the
Korean War, the United States had one of the strongest armed forces. The most positive and
significant result of the United States military involvement was the signing of the 1953 armistice that
ended the

The Events At The University Of Arkansas At Monticello Essay
Throughout the last four weeks, I ve attended several events at the University of Arkansas at
Monticello. Some events were more organized than others, but each event had a different purpose and
all of the events was executed well. While in high school I participated in many on and off school
activities; in which taught me a valuable lesson that I later on used at the events on campus. The
activities taught me good communications skills that I needed during the events. During the events I
got the chance to use my communications skills that I learned by participating in activities in high
school. I got the chance to interact with new people and experience new things that I never done
before. Out of all the events I attended, I believed Rock the Clock was the most beneficial.
Although I think Rock the Clock was the most beneficial; I attended three more events other than
Rock the Clock. The other events were Cosmic Bowling, Freshman Orientation Day Two, and the
Mud Olympics. Although Rock the Clock was the most beneficial. Cosmic Bowling was on August
22nd at 7:00pm. Timberlodge Lanes sponsored the event and did a splendid job hosting the event and
publicizing the event. The event was publicized in brochures, letters, and flyers. On every wall I
walked by; I would see something promoting the event. Constantly seeing a reminder of the event
made me not forget about the event; and actually attend it. My roommate and I left around 7:45; once
we got there it was packed. We actually

Essay on Sigmund Freud
Sigmund Freud Sigmund Freud, physiologist, medical doctor, psychologist and father of
psychoanalysis, is recognized as one of the most influential thinkers of the twentieth century. As the
originator of psychoanalysis, Freud distinguished himself as an intellectual giant. He invented new
techniques and for understanding human behavior, his efforts resulted in one of the most
comprehensive theories of psychology developed. Freud was born May 6, 1856 in Freiberg in
Moravia (what is now Czechoslovakia) to his Jewish parents, his father Jacob who was a wool
merchant and his mother Amalia Nathansohn. His father Jacob was 20 years older than, Amalia, Freud

Freud and Martha gave birth to six children, the youngest of whom, Anna, was herself to become a
distinguished psychoanalyst and founder of child psychoanalysis. Freud set up a private practice to
treat psychological disorders and gave him much material which he based some of his theories. At
first, Freud s theories shocked some of his colleagues. Some of Freud s most creative work came at a
time when he was experiencing severe emotional problems of his own. When he was forty he had
numerous psychosomatic disorders, such as exaggerated fears of dying and other phobias. Freud
continued to study and attracted support from few people such as Jung and Adler who were
themselves to make major contributions to the school of psychoanalysis. Because of his controversial
work, when Nazi storm troopers invaded the city in 1938, Freud was arrested in his home and held
captive until his unsold books were burned publicly. Upon his release a few weeks later, he moved to
London, where he lived out the last months of his life. In September 1939, Freud died of cancer at the
age of 83. Some of his accomplishments include the Interpretation of Dreams, written in 1900, which
was to lay the foundation for his research over the next forty years. It suggested that brain functions
can be divided into three categories: the Id, the Ego, and the Superego. The Id represents basics wants
and instincts and could be shown

  • 2. Assess the Impact of Interference by Foreign Powers on... Assess the impact of interference by foreign powers on China s development in the 20th century During the 20th century China underwent a massive transformation. In the early 1900s China was a mass of land lacking any real political cohesion and so was plagued by disputes between the many ruling warlords. However, by the year 2000 China was considered a major contender on the world stage and still is today; it almost seems certain that China will become the most powerful nation on earth in the next 50 years. This major transformation is seen to be a great success of China, considering the relatively short amount of time in which it was accomplished, but the question still remains as to whether entire credit should be given to China ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite the burgeoning hope of a strong independent China, free of the exploitation of foreign powers, Sun Yat Sen s aims were not achieved. However, this laid the basis for China s ideal of developing their own independence. A politician of great significance was Mao Zedong, the first Chairman of the People s Republic of China. He had possibly the largest impact on the development of China, particularly with policies such as his agricultural reform. Foreign interference, by way of Japan s invasion (1937 49), had had a great negative effect on economic development. Their original intent to exploit China s resources was manifested in mass murder across the country (the rape of Nanking being a focussed example of this) and such destruction of infrastructure and mass looting that instances of cannibalism became quite widespread. Hence, it was to Mao that much of the task of reforming and rebuilding fell. Mao s greatest achievement, and the core of any development free of foreign interference, was his success in harnessing the unquenchable spirit of the Chinese people. Their unrelenting efforts went some way to counteracting the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sexually Transmitted Infections And Young Adults Sexually Transmitted Infections in young adults Justin Dwayne Wood Park University 12 April 23, 2015 Background Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) in young adults have been a concern of mine since I was in high school. I grew up in California and it seemed that the spread of STIs was always talked about. I lived about one and a half hours from San Francisco and the transmission of HIV always seemed that it was a problem in that area. I grew up afraid that if I had sex I would contract a STI the first time I had sex. This was mostly due to concern the school made of STIs. The U.S. has spent over one billion dollars on abstinence only programs that do not work, it is time that the U.S. governments starts investing in to a program that will work. I believe that the best way to help prevent the passing of STIs is through proper education. Our young adults deserve to know the proper way to protect themselves and the risk of having unprotected sex. Without proper education on prevention methods our STI rates will not drop. These education methods need to be delivered in way that is appropriate as well, they must be able to get the class involved on the topic and make sure that they understand it. I know that when I was in school anytime we had a sex education class it was delivered in a way where questions were not easily asked. It was more of a situation where you are told the information and do not need to worry about it afterwards which is completely wrong. The information that people learn on sex in schools will be with them for the rest of their life. It needs to be good information that will assist them in make appropriate decisions on sex. Most people will eventually have sexual intercourse at some point in their life that is why it is so important that the information they receive teaches them how to protect themselves against not only STIs but, unwanted sexual advances. Social Darwinism Is An Ideology Of Society Social Darwinism is an ideology of society that seeks to apply biological concepts of the laws of evolution by natural selection of evolutionary theory to sociology and politics, often with the assumption that conflict between groups in society leads to social progress as superior groups outcompete inferior ones. How we got to the point of coining the modern term of Social Darwinism we would have to turn to the famous man himself, Charles Darwin. At first glance, Charles Darwin seems an unlikely revolutionary. Born in 1809, Charles grew up a shy and unassuming member of a wealthy British family. He appeared, at least to his father, to be lazy and directionless. But even as a child, Darwin expressed an interest in nature. Later in 1831, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These better adapted beings, which contribute so much to the genetic complement of following generations of their population, are said to have greater reproductive fitness. Hence the use, and popularization, of the phrase: survival of the fittest. (This expression is often attributed to Charles Darwin and, although it appears in the fifth edition of his Origin of Species, 1869, it is there attributed to Herbert Spencer.) By fittest , of course, Spencer and Darwin didn t have in mind the commonly used meaning of the word now, that is, the most highly qualified and/or physically adequate. The fittest referred to here, are those animals which are the most suited to their environment, that is, those which are best fitted to survive. Not only did Darwin theorize that animals and plants evolved into different species through a process of natural selection and survival of the fittest , he claimed that humans were animals themselves, subject to the same selection process that played out in nature . This theory was then applied to economic life. Attempts to reform society through state intervention or other means would, therefore, interfere with natural processes; unrestricted competition and resistance of the status quo were in accord with biological selection. • 8. Chemical Reaction On Chemical Kinetics Olivia Isaacs C127 15 November 2014 Chemical Kinetics Objective: This experiment runs many reactions varying the concentrations of the reactants in order to determine the order for each component and the rate constant. Introduction: Chemical kinetics is the study of how fast a chemical reaction occurs and the factors that affect the speed of reaction.1 Reaction rates are the measure of how much the concentration of reactants change during a given reaction.1 The rate of change of the reactants, Rate = Ī” [X]/Ī”t, is related to the slope of the concentration vs. time graph.1 From observing reaction rates, the overall order of the reaction and the rate constant can be calculated by using the integrated rate laws. For a zero order reaction, the rate law can be written as [A]t = kt + [A]0, where [A]t is the concentration at a given time, k is the negative slope, t is the time, and [A]0 is the initial concentration.2 Using the same variables, a first order reaction can be written as ln[A]t = kt + ln[A]0 and a second order can be written as 1/[A]t = kt + 1/[A]0.2 On a graph, these concentrations are plotted vs. time, allowing the R2 value and equation of the line to be calculated. The R2 value is used in determining the order of the reaction. The closer the R2 value is to 1, the more likely that the graph displays the correct reaction order. The y=mx+b equation provides information about the slope and y intercept, essential when determining the order and rate constant. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eyewitness Testimony, Helpful or Hinderance Eyewitness evidence can be fundamental when it comes to solving crimes, however, with the increasing number of cases now being exonerated by DNA evidence, the questions lies, what degree of confidence should be placed on the evidence of the eyewitnesses alone? Countless factors are associated with the accuracy and consistency of eyewitness evidence, such as line up content, line up instructions, the questioning techniques of interviewers and notably the gender and/or age of the witness. Eyewitness testimony may not always be accurate, but despite its weaknesses, by using empirical studies to guide reforms, eyewitness testimony can be an extremely beneficial instrument in the criminal justice system. Inaccurate evidence is not necessarily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore the age of an eyewitness is an important point to note when considering the accuracy of eyewitness identification, especially with the case of very young children providing significantly inferior accuracy than adults if questioned incorrectly. When children are questioned in the same method as adults, misinterpretation and errors can weaken the child s credibility and the accuracy of their testimony. The fact however remains that eyewitness testimony can be beneficial if caution is exercised when interviewing children so as to not repeat questions, suggest information, or allow for interviewer assumptions and/or bias. As well as age, the gender of an eyewitness has been consistently linked to issues with the accuracy and consistency of evidence. Jacqueline and Wolfgang (1986) referenced one of the earliest empirical studies of gender differences in eyewitness testimony, that of William Stern (1903 1904) with the opinion that women s eyewitness testimony was less accurate and less resistant to the influence of misleading information than men s (Pg. 565). Research has since revealed a female advantage in the number of details, and the accuracy of memory recall when providing eyewitness testimony. A study undertaken by Areh (2011) states gender is one of the factors significantly influencing memory recall (Pg. 559). The study concentrated on sex differences in the accuracy and quantity of memory recall for specific details of an event (Pg. 559). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Billy Collins Life as A Day There are no two people who will have the same life; the number of years, experiences, and quality of life are just a few of the things that may change/differ from one person to the next. However, life will always have a beginning and an end; the day(s) in between those two points is what makes up a lifetime. In the poem Days by Billy Collins, the temperance of life is portrayed as a day from start to finish as being synonymous of a lifetime; in other words, life is short and ever changing. Carpe Diem is what might be said by some. The poem Days is how Billy Collins encourages readers to seize the day. Each stanza expresses the importance and value of a single day; becoming increasingly more evident with each line. The transitory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narrator describes the dawn of a new day as, Today begins cold and bright / the ground heavy with snow (Collins 5 6). The visual imagery of heavy snow tells the reader that each new day is pure and a new beginning. Bright and cold is a reference to birth; this is how each day begins. The changes exhibited through the use of imagery are indicative of the changes that take place throughout a lifetime. It is easy to visualize each day when the narrator says, this day might be resting somehow / on the one before it, / all the days of the past stacked high / like the impossible tower of dishes/entertainers used to build on stage. (Collins 12). The image of each dish placed on top of another dish compels the reader to see how life has become more complicated, impossible to keep forever balanced. The imagery used here is much different than the metaphor of fresh snow. This is how the author expresses time passing, and life is happening. The sense that life is coming to an end is felt when the narrator says, then holding your breath, / place this cup on yesterday s saucer (Collins 22 23). The imagery prompts the reader to feel uncertainty about the likeliness of another day, but at the same time wishing very badly for more time. Collins uses imagery to illustrate the fragility of existence and humanity s quiet desperation to keep going. The poem ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They include age, sex, genetics, exposure to air pollution, and behaviours such as smoking, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity which can lead to hypertension and obesity, in turn leading to increased risk of many NCDs.[4] Most NCDs are considered preventable because they are caused by modifiable risk factors. The WHO s World Health Report 2002 identified five important risk factors for non communicable disease in the top ten leading risks to health. These are raised blood pressure, raised cholesterol, tobacco use, alcohol consumption, and overweight.[5] Other factors associated with higher risk of NCDs include a person s economic and social conditions, also known as the social determinants of health. It has been estimated that if the primary risk factors were eliminated, 80% of the cases of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes and 40% of cancers could be prevented. Interventions targeting the main risk factors could have a significant impact on reducing the burden of disease worldwide. Efforts focused on better diet and increased physical activity have ... Whether one is listening to their favorite song in the car or out at a social event, music not only is very entertaining, but possesses the ability to influence specific behaviors in an individual. With music, various emotions are triggered using schema s and person level and context level construct s. Food is an important aspect in our everyday lives, however, individuals often do not take into consideration the different social relations to food. The Farm to Fork was an interactive public event promoting non GMO and organic food in order to achieve sustainability within Ontario. In order to describe the importance of this farmers market, Smithers et al (2008), provide a definition of what a farmers market contains in order to compare these elements to the industrial food system. The Theme Of Sublime Nature In Frankenstein By Mary Shelley In the novella Frankenstein, Mary Shelley uses geography to further the plot, reveal the true intentions of characters and convey the novella s theme of sublime nature. The theme of sublime nature is the idea that nature is comprised of a mixture of terror and beauty. One example of sublime nature supported by geography is the monster, which is truly a terror in appearance and spirit being born in Ingolstadt. Shelly contrasts this terror of Ingolstadt to the beauty of Geneva, Frankenstein s birthplace. One such case occurs when spring begins and the monster is felt [the] emotions of gentleness and pleasure in the sunshine and the balminess of the air but then realized that he was still lonely and quickly became bitter (Shelley 246). The vengeance which the monster wishes upon Frankenstein is a manifestation of an eternal fury that the monster has as a result of the loneliness that Frankenstein has imposed upon him. The theme of sublime nature is perpetuated by Shelley s incorporation of violence in locations with beautiful lake and mountain views. As Frankenstein takes a tour of a mountain and glacier he sees sublime nature in the form of the pallid lightning that played above Mont Blanc, showing that terrors such as lightning already exist within the domain of the beautiful mountainside (Shelley 167). In order to understand play and how it may benefit young children we must first be able to define it, however this creates the initial issue. This is due to the fact that the concept of play is disreputably difficult to define (Burghardt 2011). Note that you want to avoid lumps in your cornstarch since these may not break down once the cornstarch is heated. Bring your sauce to a boil and simmer. Within five minutes, your sauce should be noticeably thicker. The more cornstarch you add, the faster the sauce will thicken and the thicker it will be. Keep stirring with a whisk to keep the sauce from sticking to the bottom and sides of the pot. Note that many barbecue sauces are highly acidic and cornstarch has a way of breaking down in acids. If you are making a barbecue sauce with lots of ketchup or vinegar, you may find that the cornstarch breaks down and does not thicken at all. When it comes down to the risk factors of violence ĀØno single risk factor consistently leads a person to act out their aggression.ĀØ(Tibi Puiu) Most of these studies were on a time of two to three hours a day. Along with all of these studies there have been four meta analysis. Meta analysis is a statistical analysis that combines groups of similar data usually to show the effect size. With all of this data surely the world would get a good firm answer. Nope, the research has yet to show a causal relationship. Among kids between the ages of 12 and 17 97% play some sort of game with violence. (Susan Scuttl) Now violent games can be seen as violent by one person and nonviolent by another. It weighed thirty tons, and took up over 1,500 square feet ( ENIAC ). In The Development of Computer Assisted Mathematics in Science and Its Times, ENIAC was built to use numbers to describe the behavior of explosives, high performance aircraft, and the weather ( Mathematics ).
