Comparing The Ideas Of Bringing Dog To Work
I Believe and support the idea of bringing your dog to work, I think it is a wonderful idea, they have
many beautiful reasons why you should. Although, alot of people might be against the idea of bringing
your dog to work, I am someone who own s two dogs, and the idea of them being home all day while I
m at work for 8 hours or so, not only does it stress me out, I know it stresses them out too. While I
know my puppies are home by themselfs it makes me, in my opinion, distracted more than I would be
if we were allowed to bring our dogs to work with us. It bothers me knowing I have to worry about
them being home alone. Knowing i can t care for them while I m working. Also, having company
while at work would be nice to help

Iago Revenge In Othello
In Othello, Iago s thoughts of himself easily described with one word: self centered. Iago thinks the
world and all those in it owe him something. He feels betrayed, mostly by all he thought were friends
and loved ones, true or not in his narcissistic mind it is. Iago sets out to get vengeance on each and
everyone that deserves it. Quiet intelligently he uses his talented, manipulative ways to create himself
a great reputation of being a loyal soldier and a friend, but is even better known as an honest captain.
Using this façade without any remorse, Iago seeks revenge by using everyone s insecurities to break
them down one by one, turning each against the other, in order to have his bittersweet revenge.
Iago initiates his plot by speaking with one of his pawns Roderigo, who he knows could be the key
player in the role of harming both, Othello and Cassio. Iago knows that Roderigo still loves
Desdemona, even after her marriage to Othello. As a result, he devises a lie to make Roderigo think
Desdemona doesn t really love Othello and in actuality, she is having an affair with Cassio. Iago
conveniences Roderigo that if he kills Cassio, he could win back the heart of Desdemona. At the same
time, Iago is testing Othello s insecurities by telling him the same malicious lies. Iago feels he is on
the path of revenge towards two men he hates and his very pawn, who would just be another casualty
in his war.
Thus do I ever make my fool my purse;
For I mine own gained knowledge should

Satires Used In Macfarlane Behind The Media
MacFarlane Behind the Voices Seth MacFarlane has voiced over 142 characters from 30 different
titles, but he is probably most famously known for his role as Peter Griffin on Family Guy. His love
for animation began around the age of two, when he was able to draw cartoon characters like Fred
Flintstone; and around the age of nine, he published comic strips in the local newspaper of his
hometown in Kent, Connecticut. Seth went on to pursue a degree in Fine Arts at Rhode Island School
of Design, and around age 24 he became an executive producer. He then went on to write a few hit
adult television series in the 2000 s including Family Guy and American Dad; both in which he voices
characters. An ample amount of his success comes from the way he incorporates satirical techniques
into his scripts. MacFarlane demonstrates different satirical techniques in Family Guy and American
Dad, while exploring different institutionalized ideas of race, gender, and religion. Satires used in
many ways to move an audience, especially on television. Family Guy for instance, utilizes many
satirical techniques in it s episodes. An adequate amount of MacFarlane s episodes attack sensitive
topics of life, such as: racism, women s rights and religion. In season seven, episode two of Family
guy, the episode starts in a diner where all the servers are caricatures of famous icons of the 1950 s
like Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and even the stereotypical white police

Use of DNA in Criminal Investigations Essay
Before the 1980s, courts relied on testimony and eyewitness accounts as a main source of evidence.
Notoriously unreliable, these techniques have since faded away to the stunning reliability of DNA
forensics. In 1984, British geneticist Alec Jeffreys of the University of Leicester discovered an
interesting new marker in the human genome. Most DNA information is the same in every human, but
the junk code between genes is unique to every person. Junk DNA used for investigative purposes can
be found in blood, saliva, perspiration, sexual fluid, skin tissue, bone marrow, dental pulp, and hair
follicles (Butler, 2011). By analyzing this junk code, Jeffreys found certain sequences of 10 to 100
base pairs repeated multiple times. These tandem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DNA forensics can also narrow down suspect pools, exonerate innocent suspects, and link crimes
together if the same DNA is found at both scenes. However, without existing suspects, a DNA profile
cannot direct an investigation because current knowledge of genotype phenotype relation is too vague
for DNA phenotyping. For example, a profile from a first time offender that has no match in any
database may give the information that the criminal is a left handed male of medium stature with red
hair and freckles. It would be impossible to interview every man who fits that description. However,
with available suspects, DNA forensics has many advantages over other forms of evidence. One is the
longevity of DNA. Although it will deteriorate if exposed to sunlight, it can remain intact for centuries
under proper conditions (Sachs, 2004). Because DNA is so durable, investigators can reopen old cases
to reexamine evidence.
DNA from animals and plants can also be utilized in criminal forensics. One of the most common
applications of this is the analysis of pet hair from a crime scene, which often links its owner to the
crime. DNA fingerprints have also been applied to cannabis plants, and a database is being created to
trace samples to their sources. This has been extremely successful so far, as this technology can
distinguish between closely related, carefully bred plants (Westphal, 2003). Heather Miller Coyle of

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Presidential Candidates
The Strengths and Weaknesses of the System of Choosing Presidential Candidates
It seems reasonable to conjecture that the Achilles heel of the modern presidency is one of
recruitment. The long winded delegate nomination process could in theory be replaced by a daylong
direct election of presidential candidates. Instead, tradition dictates that the presidential race is drawn
out quadrennially over the pre primary, primary, Party Convention and campaign seasons. All four
phases influence the outcome of candidate selection and much also depends on campaign finance, the
role of the media and the nominees themselves.
Although the process is considered a complex, drawn out affair in the eyes of ... Show more content

In Caucuses, the power to select delegates, who are sent to nominate presidential candidates at the
National Party Convention, rests with Party activists who meet first at a local, then county and finally
at a state level to make their choices. The caucus system propounds the strength of the Party elite who
have an overriding influence as to who is chosen. As Ragsdale observed (1993, p.95), the system
tended to be dominated and controlled by party bosses, as deals were cut in smoke filled rooms, rather
than by ordinary rank and file members. This was far from democratic, and since the controversy
surrounding Humphrey s nomination for the Democratic Party in 1968, the McGovern Fraser
Commission established reforms which saw the advent of the Media Primary. Since 1972, this
procedure has become the system with gravitas: 77% of the votes cast by Republican delegates in
1988 came from those selected by primaries. These state wide intra party elections mean that any
supporters can vote for a nominee to send to the National Convention and although these elected
delegates still formally select the presidential candidate, it is rarely more than a ratification of the
preferences expressed by ordinary voters. This encouraged a higher level of political participation, as
voters could feel a part of the decision making process. Some primaries, such as Michigan State, saw a

Muscle And Muscle Of Muscles
Muscle and Muscle Tissue
Functions
Through contractions, muscles perform four functions.
Movement or motion Skeletal muscles provide movements of the body by muscle contraction, such as
walking, and running. Cardiac muscle contraction maintains the beating of the heart. Smooth muscle
contraction in the intestines, urinary bladder, and blood vessels moves substances through the body.
Maintenance of posture Skeletal muscles contract and make small adjustments almost continuously to
hold the body in stationary positions, such as sitting or standing. Stabilize joints Skeletal muscles add
stability to joints that have poor reinforcement and articular surfaces that do not fit well, such as in the
shoulder and knee joints¯

All muscle tissue is composed of muscle fibers which are really muscle cells.
There are three types of muscles:
Skeletal muscle
Skeletal muscle is found attached to and covering bones.
They are classified as skeletal, striated, voluntary muscles. The muscle fibers are multinucleated
(contain many nuclei), have band like striations, and contraction is by conscious control.
Cardiac muscle
Cardiac muscle is located in the walls of the heart and is classified as cardiac, striated, involuntary
muscle. The muscle fibers are branched, contain a single nucleus, have band like striations, and are not
under conscious control. They have thicker striations, called intercalated discs, where one muscle fiber
joins the next fiber.
Smooth muscle
Smooth muscle is located in the walls of hollow visceral (internal) organs such as the intestines,
stomach, urinary bladder, respiratory passages, and blood vessels. They are classified as visceral,
nonstriated, involuntary muscles. The muscle fibers contain a single nucleus, no striations, and are not
under conscious control.

Persuasive Speech On Photography
I hone in on the target. I get into position to shoot the perfect shot. I look through the scope, verifying
my position. Then I snap the photograph, breathe, and repeat. This is the process. Photography is
simple yet so rewarding. I feel pride in knowing that my finished work has the power to shape and
change the way its viewers see the world. In fact, it did it to me. Before falling in love with the
camera, my happiness was reliant on my future success. As I came to realize, believing that I was not
good enough at the moment was my downfall. I am not the only one who has embraced this mentality.
Unfortunately, our society lives it, constantly looking forward towards times to come instead of being
grateful now. It is a major problem the world faces, and I intend to fix it. I am going to be a
photojournalist, and through the work that has blessed my life, I will convince my viewers to look
beyond the current methods used to find satisfaction with the knowledge that the process to achieve
success is a process, not a limitation, to have faith that it is possible to find what matters most like I
did and be happy now and in the future.
Our society seeks satisfaction in the form of instant gratification rather than long term happiness and
sadly, these techniques are materialistic and produce results that are very short lived; viewing my
work in photography will help people overcome this obstacle. As something becomes of worth to a
person, he begins relying on that thing as his

The Importance Of Art Education
What is the difference between a child a child in a lower income school and a higher income one? The
answer is opportunity. Children raised in lower income areas are less likely to have access to an art
education even in its most basic forms at a developmental stage. A young child is naturally curious
and has a drive to explore life and without an art education a child can lag severely behind other more
fortunate kids who have the opportunity to explore life through colors and develop basic motor skills
from holding a crayon and cutting paper. The definition of an art education varies based on the access
to materials. In one school it may be exploring texture and shape through clay, at another it may be
coloring a color sheet with crayons and markers.
At an early age children are predisposed to have creative needs. Their nature is curiosity and an art
education allows them to explore that while developing important life skills motor skills, self
expression, team work. An art education is the ability to guide children through a multitude of areas of
art whether it be coloring and cutting paper to playing with play doh. All of these allow a child to
explore the world they live in through color and shadow and light and dark. An art education can also
involve a more thorough look at the culture behind the piece, who was the creator, what was their
motivation for the piece. Children who have been exposed to the arts are more likely to identify these
things early on due to the

Thyroid Carcinomas
Introduction Thyroid cancer (TC) is the most common endocrine malignancy accounting for 1 % of
cancers worldwide, and its incidence is rising faster than many other cancers, with the highest overall
rate of increase in cancer deaths. The annual incidence varies considerably by geographic area, age
and sex. The increase is attributable to better detection of small carcinomas as a result of improved
diagnostic accuracy. However, the number of patients who die due to this disease also increases [1].
TC is a heterogeneous disease that is classified into differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) (95 %),
undifferentiated (anaplastic) thyroid carcinoma (ATC) and medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC).
DTCs derive from the follicular epithelial cells, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clinical trials with various combinations of doxorubicin, bleomycin and a platinum based agent have
yielded unsatisfactory results, with response rates of 14 % [5]. Similarly disappointing, the adverse
events (AEs) profile of these drugs is dose limiting, with patients experiencing significant neutropenia,
nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia and even congestive heart failure [6]. As the results of
conventional treatment modalities have been disappointing and therefore, new therapies are needed.
RAI resistant TC, metastatic MTC and ATC represent one of the most appealing models for biological
therapies. Recent years have been characterized by significant advances in the understanding of the
molecular basis of thyroid carcinogenesis. Many tumor initiating genetic events have been already
identified in TC. Interestingly, there is a typical morphological and histopathologically disease
presentation that consistently correlates with specific molecular pathway deregulation, and some of its
features are associated with more aggressive tumor behavior. So, therapeutic agents that target
involved biological abnormalities have been identified. Multiple clinical trials have been carried out.
In this review, we describe the role of target therapy and some new modalities in TCs. Background on
molecular biology Most of PTC are associated with a mutation in one of three genes involved in the
signaling of the mitogen activated protein (MAP) kinase pathway RAS, BRAF or RET/PTC

Circuit Court Case Study
In this instant appeal, Mr. Shoemaker asserts that the circuit court erred by imposing an improper
purge provision after finding him to be in contempt, and that the circuit court erred in finding that Mr.
Shoemaker would be liable for alimony payments in accordance with the parties original separation

I. The Circuit Court Did Not Craft an Improper Purge Provision in Its Contempt Order. The scope of
our review of a trial court s contempt finding is as follows:

Social Housing Sociology
1 Introduction and Context of Study
1.1 INTRODUCTION
This study will assess the ability of the Private Rented Sector (PRS) taking on the responsibility of
housing homeless people especially families, as the number of homeless families in the UK is on an
increase.
In a newspaper article by The Guardian, June 2015 states official data published by the Department
for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), which revealed that there are 48,880 families in
England living in temporary accommodation, which is an increase of 25% in the last 5 years and a
13% increase in the last year alone and among these families there are 93,320 children. Approximately
44% of families in temporary accommodation are led by single mothers while, 24% are couples ...

This can be due to a number of reasons such as a rising demand for homes in the private sector. Social
housing is available for anyone who wishes to start a tenancy in that sector, however in most parts of
the country there are insufficient houses in the SRS for everyone who might want one. Therefore,
social housing providers will identify and issue criteria that will determine which household can gain
access to social housing (Chartered Housing Institute, 2010). Using the allocation process, social
housing in England have a role in providing accommodation for the most vulnerable in society e.g.
homeless people, single parents people with low income etc. (Chartered Housing Institute, 2010). This
allocation process can however be seen as strict, and many people who don t fall in to this category
cannot access social housing, and thus the PRS in increasing being used by local authorities and
agencies to house homeless

coaches and players always have hidden agendas. Scandals or infractions are committed every year in

but have difficulty doing so. Student Athletes receiving improper benefits and breaking NCAA rules

If an athlete is happy and performs well it reflects well on the coach and helps him to keep his job.
Ensuring the athletes play is the greatest goal for some coaches. Most athletes understand this and in
turn start to receive cash and other gifts because they know they can. They begin to feel entitled to pay
for play (Matt Ryan 3). The schools do not do much to prevent this from happening though. They don
t give extra food to athletes that do more physical activity than most ordinary students. Neither do they
offer more spacious room accommodations to larger athletes that take up more space than the average
student would. An athlete will not always take advantages of their abilities for the cash. Some athletes
are in dire need of money to help themselves and their families. They may come from a low income
household where they were looked to for support. The importance of an athlete who was looked upon
for support in the family before college isn t as understood by the NCAA (McMurphy 6). The athletes
and programs that are caught are most always severely punished. They can be placed on restriction for
various things. The most common forms of punishment are a reduction of the scholarships allotted
[or] post season banning (NCAA Compliance 5). Being caught also suspends the athlete from all
athletic involvement. This could devastate the athlete but it is deserved. They would be eligible had
they not made the wrong decisions. They

Warrior Chief Attendants
The Warrior Chief flanked by Warriors and Attendants is an art piece from the Nigerian state of Benin.
It s a brass artwork made using a process called wax casting which involves creating molds into the
desired shapes and pouring molten metal (in this case brass) into the molds. As the name suggests this
art piece shows a chief with his warriors and attendants. Outside of these obvious details derived from
the title, this art piece is laden with different characteristics of representation and symbolism that
narrate the artist s story behind the artwork.
A close examination of this piece concluded that this artwork is a form of propaganda; which serves
the purpose of showing the power, prestige and authority of a figure. The artist purposefully made the
middle figure the most captivating and attention drawing figure for this reason. As such this papers
focal point of analysis will be studying the different artistic tools the artist used to bring out this
particular form of propaganda.

Descriptive Essay On Christmas Eve
Have you ever spent hours and hours making and decorating cookies only two days before Christmas?
I have because every year on Christmas Eve my mom s whole side of the family comes to our house
for a party. I get to see some cousins that I barely ever get see. We spend the whole day from sunrise
to sunset together. Seeing them is amazing because sometimes you don t realize how much you miss
someone until you finally see them again.
Every Christmas Eve when we have the party everyone brings an amazing dish and almost everything
is completely gone by the end of the night. My aunt makes a ton of food and it is always so good that
just the smell can make your mouth water. Also, everyone brings food and it is so hard not to sneak
some food before everyone eats. My family and I go to my aunt s house and our two families decorate
enough cookies for everyone to have some. Last year I got to bring a friend and we had a lot of fun
decorating cookies. Everyone loves the taste and the design of all the cookies because they are all
different and delicious. We all spend time together then we eat dinner and we always leave snacks and
desserts out and they are so good. We always have soft sugar cookies with frosting on them and
usually we have someone bring brownies and they are so chocolatey they taste amazing and I can t
keep my hands off of them since they are so great.
It is so amazing when I get so spend time with my cousins and family members. I don t see my family

The, Misery, By Richard Farnsworth As Buster, And Frances...
Imagine being rescued after suffering a major car wreck, only to be kidnapped by your number one
fan. Starring Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes, James Caan as Paul Sheldon, Richard Farnsworth as
Buster, and Frances Sternhagen as Virginia, Misery is a psychological thriller produced and directed
by Rob Reiner. In this 1990 psychological thriller film you will experience thrill, action, suspense,
despair and misery, all powered by composer Marc Shaiman and his use of music to set the mood for
the audience.
Films and movies are a composition of elements that make that essentially come together as one to
form a piece of art. Although a film is not complete with missing elements, some elements when used
out of place can break a movie. Some of these elements include, but are not limited to, a character s
costume and makeup, lighting, camera direction, acting, special effects, and, sound effects and music.
In some films one element may be the overriding factor but when put together, these elements work
together to please an audience.
Each element on its own, has an important role it plays in the creation of a film or movie. In Misery,
for example, the choice of music composition used for major scenes in the movie helps to build on the
plot, suspense and rising action, on many other scenes, the fast paced music led to nail biting and hair
pulling moments. Without the wise choice of the fast paced string, Classical music, Misery would

The Girl Who Gets Gifts From Birds
Over the course of many years, people and animals have shared a critical connection. Such as, how
animals have been used for medical use, transportation, and comfort. Over the past couple weeks, I
have studied how people are animal allies. People and animals share similar behaviors, bonds, and
how they help each other. To start out, People and animals relate to each other by sharing similar
behaviors. To began with, humans animals enjoy the same comforts we do. According to the selection,
from My Life With the Chimpanzees, Dr. Goodall writes Chimps like their comfort! just like humans
enjoy their comfort (Goodall 105.25). Goodall observed that chimps sleep at night just as we do.
Goodall noticed Chimps making beds using branches. They even made pillows! The chimps used

mom s help. After doing this for a while the crows began leaving little trinkets in the bird feeders such
as buttons, lego pieces, shiny object, and other miscellaneous items. One day Gabi s mom loses her

The Pedestrian Summary
THE PEDESTRIAN ANALYASIS
The pedestrian is a short story written by Ray Bradbury in 1953, the story takes place in the year of
2053. In the story, we follow Leonard Mead as he goes for an evening stroll among tomb like homes ,
until a police car interrupts him. In the end, the police car takes him away to the Psychiatric Center for
Research on Regressive Tendencies. The story is told using a third person limited narrator, which is
great for keeping the story s mysteries as mysteries, since we as a reader cannot look inside of Mr.
Mead s mind and get the full picture, but only discover this new world one step at the time as the story
continues. To let the reader, discover this new world as the story continues and also keep them

It has been made quite clear that the world he lives in, at least at that time of day, is dark and shadowy.
It seems like he is the odd one out, his mindset has not changed even though his surroundings have
and because of this, he is incoherent, someone who is somehow unadapted to this new world. This is
shown many times during the story, for an example; but it really made no difference; he was alone in
this world of 2053 A.D., or as good as alone...
By smartly using the abbreviation A.D. (Anno Domini, which means in the year of our Lord )
Bradbury hints that this world and/or universe might be the same as the one we live in, or at least it
might have been at some point.
By not having a telescreen, he is excluding himself from this new soiciety, since intertainment and life
in general seems to be centered around a television in this world
And by being an outcast he is also a threat to the system becuase he does not remain distracted and
steady while being isolated inside his house behind a screen.
If he was born into this world he problerly woulnd find it so strange. He al so mntions the election and
the removal of police cars as if has exprienced it all. He has knowlege of the world that was before. A

The Baroque Period Of The Baroque And Classical Period
At this time last year, I would have considered all music before the 20th century to be classical.
However, after taking a Dual Credit Music Appreciation course, I realized that old music cannot
simply be grouped into a single category. There are so many differences that I had no idea existed.
Throughout the years, music has changed and evolved, meeting the needs of listeners and performers.
Different composers have been catalysts in this change as they have developed new styles and genres.
Even though the classical period is directly subsequent of the baroque period, baroque and classical
music have countless different qualities and characteristics. The baroque period of music commenced
in the year 1600 and ended around 1750 (Fuller Baroque ). Its texture was mainly polyphonic (Fuller
Classical ). Polyphonic means that two or more different melodies are played simultaneously
(McComb). This provides an energetic rhythm, long melodies, and many ornaments. The most famous
composers of this time period were Vivaldi, Corelli, Monteverdi, Purcell, Handel, J.S. Bach, and
Couperin. Many new styles of music were introduced, such as operas, sonatas, oratorios, suites,
fugues, and concertos. Orchestras began to develop, but it was not until the classical period when
orchestral music was perfected (Fuller Baroque ). In 1750, the classical period of music started, and it
terminated in 1810. The texture was primarily homophonic (Fuller Classical ), which means there is

Section 1: Job Description/Duties
The role of a financial planner is to help groups or individuals with the use of their investments,
income, taxes, or savings. This includes helping people with their immediate or long term financial
goals such as a small investment or retirement. This job comes with immense responsibility because a
financial planner is entrusted with another person s money, and just one wrong investment could lead

Working in an office setting is not very appealing to me, which is okay because financial planners
have the option to work independently at home. However, this requires a great deal of time and effort
because this would mean having to start marketing your services and would have to build a strong
customer base.
Section 5: Wages and benefits The average salary for a financial planner is 50,000 a year which is
great because it will allow me to live the life I want to live. The amount of money a person in this
career can make is zero to over a seven figures. This depends on the level of experience you have and
if you are willing to go above and beyond what the bare minimum. If you work for a firm in this
profession they will provide insurance, sick leave, and a paid vacation depending on the firm, but an
independent financial advisor is not provided with these luxuries services.
Section 6: Employment outlook The employment outlook for a financial planner is supposed to have a

Essay On Voting Rights
Without a doubt voting rights have grown since their first implications in the beginning of this
democracy. In the beginning the only person who were able to vote and be part of the government
were white protestant male. However, that would of course change after the Voting Rights Act that
was signed into order by President Lyndon Johnson that would remove discriminating factors used on
African Americans due to the fact that it was unconstitutional under the firth teen amendment. Some
of the discriminating factors that were used were laws passed on by the jim crow laws that included
literacy test, or trick questions that had to be answered as well as poll taxes all which kept the lower
class and minorities from having a vote in what they believe in. However, minorities were not the only
ones left outside of the voting precincts women would also not have the right to vote until the women
s suffrage movement that would lead into the 19 Amendment which gave everybody a right to vote
regardless of gender. Although, this was a merely 90 years ago in the 1920 s which is a considerable
small amount of time considering our form of government isn t that old. Even with all these
ratifications of forming new laws to make everything equal regardless of race and gender there are
still a problem with voting in today s age although the problems rely more on the technology being
used, the access into the polls, as well as a variety of choice in nominees

Language In Rabbit Proof Fence
Rabbit Proof Fence is a movie directed by Phillip Noyce based on the novel by Doris Pilkington
Garimara. In the excerpt, The Stealing of Children, it shows the offspring of the indigenous people
being taken away from their parents as the white settlers thought they weren t being treated properly.
Events like these occurred from 1910 1970 in Australia s history. Many aboriginal children didn t want
to be taken away and the fictional story, based on real events, of Rabbit Proof Fence has been created
from the point of view of those people living at this time. The director has created many
representations of Aboriginal people through the use of language features, visual elements and the
audio components.
The language features of The Stealing of Children give many representations of the indigenous
people. One of these devices is repetition. Once the aboriginals were trapped by Constable Riggs,
Maude repeatedly shouted the word, No! . While he took the children, she continued to state that they
were hers and she didn t like him taking them. Her repetitiveness gave the impression that she didn t
want to lose her kids and that she loved them. This also gave the impression that Maude had no
authority against Riggs. Another language element featured in the film is evocative vocabulary. It was
used among the shouts of the indigenous people and the police man. When the Grandmother came to
the car with a large stick, which she may have used to try and break the car windows,

Animal Experimentation And The Animal Welfare Act
Miriam Rothschild once said, None of my teachers, lecturers, or professors... ever suggested that one
should respect the lives of animals in the laboratory or that they, and not the experiments, however
fascinating and instructive, were worthy of greater consideration (1986, p. 50). 95% of animals used in
experiments are not protected by the federal Animal Welfare Act. This law excludes animals such as
birds, mice, and rats that are bred primarily for research purposes. The Animal Welfare Act regulates
the housing and transportation of animals, but no rule or regulation exists that restricts the actual
research or experimentation of these animals. Animal experimentation has heavily contributed to the
advancement of the medical field, but precautions need to be taken to ensure the safety of these
animals.
The majority of the population is not aware of what actually goes on during animal research and
experimentation. A lot of the times animal experimentation can be painful, brutal and unnecessary.
One example would be at the University of Pittsburgh. In 1984 a small group snuck into the section of
the University where head trauma was being researched. It was no ordinary research, baboons were
the main subjects in many of their studies and experiments. This group was part of the Animal
Liberation Front, or ALF. The Animal Liberation Front is simply the name adopted by people acting
illegally in behalf of animal rights (PETA). Many ALF members engage in laboratory raids where

Systems Theory presents the idea that all organizations and their parts are systems that exist in relation

other parts of the organization (or system), but the system as a whole as well. Systems Theory presents
two types of systems, open and closed. An open system reacts, listens to, and embraces its publics,
both internal and external, while a closed system doesn t acknowledge their publics in decision
making. A closed system takes note of past decisions and mainly examines the past in decision
making, not it s publics. When applied to my position at NKU as the practitioner, it is important for
me to keep in mind the importance of being an open system. For example, when trying to attract new
students it s beyond important to know what these potential students are looking for in a college. NKU
is not in the position to make decision based solely on past decision and the history of the school

Symptoms Of Dementia Essay
As we age, various disorders can affect how well our brains function. Dementia is one of the most
common brain disorders that seniors experience. Certain health conditions can cause dementia. For
example, chronic high blood pressure, previous stroke or blood vessel disease can lead to vascular
dementia.
Causes of Dementia
Many times, dementia is not the result of just one condition, but several. For instance, the combination
of Alzheimer s disease, strokes, Parkinson s disease and depression may lead to dementia.

My Memoir
My Memoir
Broken. My world is crashing before my eyes. How will any of this ever be okay again? Oh, that s

inspiration, my grandpa was ill. Over the next few months he got weaker. He wasn t able to do
anything on his own. He couldn t walk, eat, drink, shower, you name it, he couldn t do it. It was
honestly and truly, the hardest thing i ve ever had to watch. You go from seeing your hero funny,
energetic, strong, and happy to weak, lifeless, and sad. Skip forward a little bit more and he was put
into the hospital in May. I wasn t able to visit him because every time I d start to go, I d have a panic
attack. I was finally able to visit him June 1st. At this time, he had been in and out of the hospital at
least 4 times. When I visited, as soon as I walked in, I smelled antiseptic and latex gloves. Just like a
hospital would smell. It was a wonderful hospital though, there was a pianist that was playing jazz in
the lobby. My grandpa loved it. When we visited, we cherished every bonding moment, laughing
moment, and sad moment knowing we wouldn t have much more time with him. All the memories
that night were worth keeping ahold of. I remember so clearly that as I walked into his hospital room,
he saw me, and I got the biggest smile I ve ever seen from anyone. It brought tears to my eyes. With
that smile I saw the dehydration on him. His lips were cracking, dry,

Introduction. So, While Doing My Best To Effectively Research
Introduction
So, while doing my best to effectively research the subject enough to write a paper on it, it became
rather apparent that I was not mathematically inclined enough to fully understand how the law actually
works. However, I was able to understand that the law has gone through a very long period of time
where researchers and theorists have worked and worked to prove that there is some form of proof that
this is more than a random occurrence, but still haven t come up with any REAL answer or proof. To
be more clear, most of the literature about the history of the subject, stretches so far as to say that
people truly believed that Benford s Law was more of a strange coincidence, or an act of god, rather
than proof of statistical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The actual measures of probability were discovered by the creator of Benford s Law, Frank Benford,
when he decided to test a strange occurrence described by an American astronomer by the name of
Simon Newcomb. In 1881, Newcomb noticed that the earlier pages of a textbook containing logarithm
tables, mainly with the leading number of one, were significantly more worn that latter pages. Benford
decided to see if there actually was a statistical reasoning to this.
Is this Relevant?
Benford took Newcomb s findings to a new level and began taking roughly 20,229 different
observations from a varied range of areas all the way from residential addresses to death rates
throughout many different areas. It was through this that he placed a value on the probability of the
occurrence of certain numbers within groups of related numerical data, thus providing the values
displayed above. (Nigrini, 1999) Considering the relatedness of the groups of numbers, but not exactly
the same context, we can then assume that Benford s Law would hold true for any group of related
data.
Hiding within another document I poured myself into in order to better understand the subject, I
noticed another coincidence. The article reiterated much of the background information regarding the
law and what it is for, but further down the line it provided another form of testing. It discussed that

The Native Americans, also known as the Calusa and the Seminoles, had made their refuge in the
Everglades. Later on, after the Seminole Wars (1817 1858), English settlers had begun to invade the
Everglades landscape. They saw the Everglades as useless and in desperate need of help. The settlers
started to build canals and irrigation systems, directing the water toward them and disrupting the
Everglades natural flow. They plowed over the land and quickly, the Everglades started to shrink.
These developments had a strong effect on the local area as well as the world as its only Everglades
began to diminish. When the people started to notice the impact of their actions on the Everglades,
they finally decided to do something about it. In 1934, the Everglades National Park was authorized.
Its aim is to protect what is left of the Everglades because of its importance to the environment and
also to us. There are about 500 human inhabitants (recorded in 2004) living in the Everglades today.
These people depend on the elements within this vast ecosystem. Surrounding communities also
depend on the features of the Everglades. Water from Everglades National Park and other areas, drains
into the Biscayne Aquifer, which is the source of drinking water for Dade, Broward and some Palm
Beach County residents. Meaning more than 7.7 million people depend on the Everglades for drinking

The first habit in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is be proactive or being proactive. This habit
technically means to think before you do. What i m trying to say is don t react to everything that
happens to you, like when a car cuts you off on the road, don t yell and scream at that driver, just be
calm and go on with your day. Be like water in a glass, water is calm and relaxed, but don t be like a
soda can that was shaken up by someone, because at some point it s going to build pressure and

parties to the lease. While many people in the U.S. are homeowners a great many other people live as
tenants in different types of rental residences. Even though tenants don t actually own their rental
residences they do receive certain rights almost the same in some ways to ownership rights. Tenants of
rental residences and their landlords also have responsibilities to each other, including residence
repairs. Depending on the situation/event, a tenant or a landlord may be responsible for making repairs
to the tenant s rental residence.
Knowledge of state law is extremely important to both tenants and landlords. Managers of apartment
buildings want to run a money making business and protect their investment. Tenants want to be
happy in their rental homes and protect their rights. At the end of the day, managers of apartment
buildings and people who occupy those rooms want to avoid legal hassles when it comes to rent,
deposits, repairs, and other key issues. Let s take a look at Larry s and Roger s situation and figure out
the best course of actions from both points of view.

San Joaquin River Valley
The San Joaquin River Valley Project represents a comprehensive long term effort to restore the flow
of the San Joaquin River. After reading the article, River Plan Too Fishy for my Taste Buds by Bill
McEwen I chose and decided to use this article because it has plenty of reasonable facts. Bill McEwen
emerged as veteran journalist who has worked in various positions for the Bee since 1980. He grew up
in the community and knows how everything works. The article McEwen wrote operated and
published in the Fresno Bee in March 6, 2015 in a city surrounded by farms. Fresno offers big anti
business and government since the surroundings consist of mostly farms. Low and middle class people
promote the highest population, meaning that they read from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The project has not yet fully achieve its goals, but it contains approved results for future
manufacturing. After the approval of the project they have prepared for it and since then they have had
a lot of successes. One of the successes appeared as the salmon experiment, 1,200 salmon got released
for the first time in the river and over 40% of these fish successfully migrated 150 miles downstream
of the river. The project will cost approximately 892 million dollars with an additional 188 million
dollars in levee improvements. The followers of this project believe that the money has continued well
spend but not necessarily true. The project continues in the process, but it has displayed working
characteristics for some of the salmon s migration to different parts of the river. The current drought
California suffers affected the project since it caused a delay. Farmers and near residents think the
project needs reevaluation to put priorities first. Since California expects El Nino projections appear to
affect the San Joaquin Project since we would get more water and easier to continue the project. After
reading multiple articles and gathering research my viewpoint of this plan does not change. I believe
California shouldn t waste the money they have to solve simple problems when they have bigger
problems to solve. Restoring the river affects

Although, alot of people might be against the idea of bringing your dog to work, I am someone who own s two dogs, and the idea of them being home all day while I m at work for 8 hours or so, not only does it stress me out, I know it stresses them out too. While I know my puppies are home by themselfs it makes me, in my opinion, distracted more than I would be if we were allowed to bring our dogs to work with us. • 5. Iago Revenge In Othello In Othello, Iago s thoughts of himself easily described with one word: self centered. Iago thinks the world and all those in it owe him something. He feels betrayed, mostly by all he thought were friends and loved ones, true or not in his narcissistic mind it is. Iago sets out to get vengeance on each and everyone that deserves it. Quiet intelligently he uses his talented, manipulative ways to create himself a great reputation of being a loyal soldier and a friend, but is even better known as an honest captain. Using this façade without any remorse, Iago seeks revenge by using everyone s insecurities to break them down one by one, turning each against the other, in order to have his bittersweet revenge. Iago initiates his plot by speaking with one of his pawns Roderigo, who he knows could be the key player in the role of harming both, Othello and Cassio. Iago knows that Roderigo still loves Desdemona, even after her marriage to Othello. As a result, he devises a lie to make Roderigo think Desdemona doesn t really love Othello and in actuality, she is having an affair with Cassio. Iago conveniences Roderigo that if he kills Cassio, he could win back the heart of Desdemona. At the same time, Iago is testing Othello s insecurities by telling him the same malicious lies. Iago feels he is on the path of revenge towards two men he hates and his very pawn, who would just be another casualty in his war. Satires Used In Macfarlane Behind The Media MacFarlane Behind the Voices Seth MacFarlane has voiced over 142 characters from 30 different titles, but he is probably most famously known for his role as Peter Griffin on Family Guy. His love for animation began around the age of two, when he was able to draw cartoon characters like Fred Flintstone; and around the age of nine, he published comic strips in the local newspaper of his hometown in Kent, Connecticut. Seth went on to pursue a degree in Fine Arts at Rhode Island School of Design, and around age 24 he became an executive producer. He then went on to write a few hit adult television series in the 2000 s including Family Guy and American Dad; both in which he voices characters. An ample amount of his success comes from the way he incorporates satirical techniques into his scripts. MacFarlane demonstrates different satirical techniques in Family Guy and American Dad, while exploring different institutionalized ideas of race, gender, and religion. Satires used in many ways to move an audience, especially on television. Family Guy for instance, utilizes many satirical techniques in it s episodes. An adequate amount of MacFarlane s episodes attack sensitive topics of life, such as: racism, women s rights and religion. In season seven, episode two of Family guy, the episode starts in a diner where all the servers are caricatures of famous icons of the 1950 s like Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and even the stereotypical white police ... • 7. Use of DNA in Criminal Investigations Essay Before the 1980s, courts relied on testimony and eyewitness accounts as a main source of evidence. Notoriously unreliable, these techniques have since faded away to the stunning reliability of DNA forensics. In 1984, British geneticist Alec Jeffreys of the University of Leicester discovered an interesting new marker in the human genome. Most DNA information is the same in every human, but the junk code between genes is unique to every person. Junk DNA used for investigative purposes can be found in blood, saliva, perspiration, sexual fluid, skin tissue, bone marrow, dental pulp, and hair follicles (Butler, 2011). By analyzing this junk code, Jeffreys found certain sequences of 10 to 100 base pairs repeated multiple times. These tandem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... DNA forensics can also narrow down suspect pools, exonerate innocent suspects, and link crimes together if the same DNA is found at both scenes. However, without existing suspects, a DNA profile cannot direct an investigation because current knowledge of genotype phenotype relation is too vague for DNA phenotyping. For example, a profile from a first time offender that has no match in any database may give the information that the criminal is a left handed male of medium stature with red hair and freckles. It would be impossible to interview every man who fits that description. However, with available suspects, DNA forensics has many advantages over other forms of evidence. One is the longevity of DNA. Although it will deteriorate if exposed to sunlight, it can remain intact for centuries under proper conditions (Sachs, 2004). Because DNA is so durable, investigators can reopen old cases to reexamine evidence. DNA from animals and plants can also be utilized in criminal forensics. One of the most common applications of this is the analysis of pet hair from a crime scene, which often links its owner to the crime. DNA fingerprints have also been applied to cannabis plants, and a database is being created to trace samples to their sources. This has been extremely successful so far, as this technology can distinguish between closely related, carefully bred plants (Westphal, 2003). Heather Miller Coyle of the Connecticut ... Strengths And Weaknesses Of Presidential Candidates The Strengths and Weaknesses of the System of Choosing Presidential Candidates It seems reasonable to conjecture that the Achilles heel of the modern presidency is one of recruitment. The long winded delegate nomination process could in theory be replaced by a daylong direct election of presidential candidates. Instead, tradition dictates that the presidential race is drawn out quadrennially over the pre primary, primary, Party Convention and campaign seasons. All four phases influence the outcome of candidate selection and much also depends on campaign finance, the role of the media and the nominees themselves. In Caucuses, the power to select delegates, who are sent to nominate presidential candidates at the National Party Convention, rests with Party activists who meet first at a local, then county and finally at a state level to make their choices. The caucus system propounds the strength of the Party elite who have an overriding influence as to who is chosen. As Ragsdale observed (1993, p.95), the system tended to be dominated and controlled by party bosses, as deals were cut in smoke filled rooms, rather than by ordinary rank and file members. This was far from democratic, and since the controversy surrounding Humphrey s nomination for the Democratic Party in 1968, the McGovern Fraser Commission established reforms which saw the advent of the Media Primary. Since 1972, this procedure has become the system with gravitas: 77% of the votes cast by Republican delegates in 1988 came from those selected by primaries. These state wide intra party elections mean that any supporters can vote for a nominee to send to the National Convention and although these elected delegates still formally select the presidential candidate, it is rarely more than a ratification of the preferences expressed by ordinary voters. This encouraged a higher level of political participation, as voters could feel a part of the decision making process. Some primaries, such as Michigan State, saw a significantly ... • 12. The Importance Of Art Education What is the difference between a child a child in a lower income school and a higher income one? The answer is opportunity. Children raised in lower income areas are less likely to have access to an art education even in its most basic forms at a developmental stage. A young child is naturally curious and has a drive to explore life and without an art education a child can lag severely behind other more fortunate kids who have the opportunity to explore life through colors and develop basic motor skills from holding a crayon and cutting paper. The definition of an art education varies based on the access to materials. In one school it may be exploring texture and shape through clay, at another it may be coloring a color sheet with crayons and markers. At an early age children are predisposed to have creative needs. Their nature is curiosity and an art education allows them to explore that while developing important life skills motor skills, self expression, team work. An art education is the ability to guide children through a multitude of areas of art whether it be coloring and cutting paper to playing with play doh. All of these allow a child to explore the world they live in through color and shadow and light and dark. • 24. The Baroque Period Of The Baroque And Classical Period At this time last year, I would have considered all music before the 20th century to be classical. However, after taking a Dual Credit Music Appreciation course, I realized that old music cannot simply be grouped into a single category. There are so many differences that I had no idea existed. Throughout the years, music has changed and evolved, meeting the needs of listeners and performers. Different composers have been catalysts in this change as they have developed new styles and genres. Even though the classical period is directly subsequent of the baroque period, baroque and classical music have countless different qualities and characteristics. The baroque period of music commenced in the year 1600 and ended around 1750 (Fuller Baroque ). Its texture was mainly polyphonic (Fuller Classical ). Polyphonic means that two or more different melodies are played simultaneously (McComb). This provides an energetic rhythm, long melodies, and many ornaments. The most famous composers of this time period were Vivaldi, Corelli, Monteverdi, Purcell, Handel, J.S. Bach, and Couperin. Many new styles of music were introduced, such as operas, sonatas, oratorios, suites, fugues, and concertos. Orchestras began to develop, but it was not until the classical period when orchestral music was perfected (Fuller Baroque ). • 26. Essay On Voting Rights Without a doubt voting rights have grown since their first implications in the beginning of this democracy. In the beginning the only person who were able to vote and be part of the government were white protestant male. However, that would of course change after the Voting Rights Act that was signed into order by President Lyndon Johnson that would remove discriminating factors used on African Americans due to the fact that it was unconstitutional under the firth teen amendment. Some of the discriminating factors that were used were laws passed on by the jim crow laws that included literacy test, or trick questions that had to be answered as well as poll taxes all which kept the lower class and minorities from having a vote in what they believe in. However, minorities were not the only ones left outside of the voting precincts women would also not have the right to vote until the women s suffrage movement that would lead into the 19 Amendment which gave everybody a right to vote regardless of gender. Although, this was a merely 90 years ago in the 1920 s which is a considerable small amount of time considering our form of government isn t that old. Even with all these ratifications of forming new laws to make everything equal regardless of race and gender there are still a problem with voting in today s age although the problems rely more on the technology being used, the access into the polls, as well as a variety of choice in nominees There has been various problems with ... • 27. Language In Rabbit Proof Fence Rabbit Proof Fence is a movie directed by Phillip Noyce based on the novel by Doris Pilkington Garimara. In the excerpt, The Stealing of Children, it shows the offspring of the indigenous people being taken away from their parents as the white settlers thought they weren t being treated properly. Events like these occurred from 1910 1970 in Australia s history. Many aboriginal children didn t want to be taken away and the fictional story, based on real events, of Rabbit Proof Fence has been created from the point of view of those people living at this time. The director has created many representations of Aboriginal people through the use of language features, visual elements and the audio components. The language features of The Stealing of Children give many representations of the indigenous people. One of these devices is repetition. Once the aboriginals were trapped by Constable Riggs, Maude repeatedly shouted the word, No! . While he took the children, she continued to state that they were hers and she didn t like him taking them. Her repetitiveness gave the impression that she didn t want to lose her kids and that she loved them. This also gave the impression that Maude had no authority against Riggs. Another language element featured in the film is evocative vocabulary. It was used among the shouts of the indigenous people and the police man. Animal Experimentation And The Animal Welfare Act Miriam Rothschild once said, None of my teachers, lecturers, or professors... ever suggested that one should respect the lives of animals in the laboratory or that they, and not the experiments, however fascinating and instructive, were worthy of greater consideration (1986, p. 50). 95% of animals used in experiments are not protected by the federal Animal Welfare Act. This law excludes animals such as birds, mice, and rats that are bred primarily for research purposes. The Animal Welfare Act regulates the housing and transportation of animals, but no rule or regulation exists that restricts the actual research or experimentation of these animals. Animal experimentation has heavily contributed to the advancement of the medical field, but precautions need to be taken to ensure the safety of these animals. The majority of the population is not aware of what actually goes on during animal research and experimentation. A lot of the times animal experimentation can be painful, brutal and unnecessary. One example would be at the University of Pittsburgh. In 1984 a small group snuck into the section of the University where head trauma was being researched. It was no ordinary research, baboons were the main subjects in many of their studies and experiments. This group was part of the Animal Liberation Front, or ALF. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The actual measures of probability were discovered by the creator of Benford s Law, Frank Benford, when he decided to test a strange occurrence described by an American astronomer by the name of Simon Newcomb. In 1881, Newcomb noticed that the earlier pages of a textbook containing logarithm tables, mainly with the leading number of one, were significantly more worn that latter pages. Benford decided to see if there actually was a statistical reasoning to this. Is this Relevant? Benford took Newcomb s findings to a new level and began taking roughly 20,229 different observations from a varied range of areas all the way from residential addresses to death rates throughout many different areas. It was through this that he placed a value on the probability of the occurrence of certain numbers within groups of related numerical data, thus providing the values displayed above. (Nigrini, 1999) Considering the relatedness of the groups of numbers, but not exactly the same context, we can then assume that Benford s Law would hold true for any group of related data. Hiding within another document I poured myself into in order to better understand the subject, I noticed another coincidence. The article reiterated much of the background information regarding the law and what it is for, but further down the line it provided another form of testing. It discussed that for their ... Later on, after the Seminole Wars (1817 1858), English settlers had begun to invade the Everglades landscape. They saw the Everglades as useless and in desperate need of help. The settlers started to build canals and irrigation systems, directing the water toward them and disrupting the Everglades natural flow. They plowed over the land and quickly, the Everglades started to shrink. These developments had a strong effect on the local area as well as the world as its only Everglades began to diminish. When the people started to notice the impact of their actions on the Everglades, they finally decided to do something about it. In 1934, the Everglades National Park was authorized. These arguments can pop up over many different issues including lease agreement rights, responsibility for repairs to the property, rent, evictions, and more. It is unfortunate that not all tenants and landlord s arguments can be settled by a simple conversation between both parties to the lease. While many people in the U.S. are homeowners a great many other people live as tenants in different types of rental residences. Even though tenants don t actually own their rental residences they do receive certain rights almost the same in some ways to ownership rights.
