How Do I Explain Behaviour.
Lecture How do we explain behavior
Behaviour generally refers to actions or reactions (an activity or response of some kind) of an object
or organism usually in relation to the environment or surrounding world of stimuli. Behaviour can be
conscious or unconscious, overt or covert, voluntary or involuntary, sometimes it can be common,
unusual, acceptable, or outside acceptable limits. The acceptability of behavior is evaluated relative to
social norms and regulated by various means of social control.
Insight into human behavior comes from both scientific and non scientific investigations. The
knowledge obtained through the senses (sight, sound, touch, taste, smell) and experiences is non
scientific. The knowledge acquired through this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Political scientists study international relationships, the workings of government, and the exercise of
power and authority.
Psychologists investigate personality and individual behaviour.
Sociologists focus on the influence society has on people s attitudes and behaviour and the ways in
which people shape society. They scientifically examine human social relationships.
PSYCHOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR
Psychology is an academic and applied field that is often defined as the scientific study of mental
processes and behavior. Psychologists want to understand every aspect of behavior (humans and
organisms) therefore they explore the unknown world of nature through the use of scientific methods
which eliminate bias and opinion and provide convincing evidence.
Other methods of obtaining knowledge such as intuitions and personal experiences, logical deductions
and common sense or pronouncements of authority figures are not accepted by scientists. These
sources of knowledge rely on opinions or beliefs that others may disagree with, or may be created by
someone who is biased or wrong. The scientific study of psychology is especially geared towards
learning about an organism s behavior by observing and studying that behaviour, while minimizing the
influences of bias or opinion.
Psychology differs from sociology, anthropology, economics, and political science in part because it
involves studying the mental processes and behavior of individuals (alone or in

Analysis Of Hair Spray The Choreographer And Director
Dance can show us a variation of things whether it is a story plot or retelling history events. Dance
becomes an art when done with passion and enthusiasm. The audience can connect and respond with
the dancer if done properly. When we use dancing in a story line musical we are attempting to give the
audience a deeper understanding. As every story every musical has a moral to the story or main idea.
In the movie hair spray the choreographer and director do a great job explaining not only the history
of dance but also a main historic fact. With the classic musical style story the director is able to
introduce a part of history in a fun exciting way through dance and music. The story tells us many
different things as well as shows us how dance can bring people from different ethnicities and color
together. We can deeply connect with the story if we can understand and experience with story line.
The story begins with a girl by the name of Tracy who is crazy about singing and dancing the, new
groove . She is different then the rest in many ways but pursues her dream as a dancer without
allowing anything to stop her. She shows her enthusiasm for dancing and singing from the beginning
of the movie to the end. The story shows us a part of the 60s when segregation was in place. Whites
and people of color where not often seen together. They were unable to live in the same
neighborhoods or share the same friends, stores, and buses. At this time in history dance was very

Gender Impacts Of Gender Influence On Gender And Gender
INTRODUCTION Gender is a set of behavioural norm of the masculine or feminine characteristics. It
is performative in nature and is largely determined by child s upbringing. The term became popular in
1980 s. This terminology Gender has great association with geography as gender is being influenced
by society and culture as these cultures tends to vary over space. So, the gender role also tends to
change over space. Gender relation varies across nations in terms of women s subordination and male
power domination. Therefore, it can be said that culture builds up gender and gender is influenced and
in turn influence space. In geography, studies relating to culture basically focus on culturally
determined human activities, impact of human activities on environment and human organization on
space. In all manners of human geographers from economic to political, from urban to regional, from
feminist to Marxist culture has become primary focal point of study. Denis Cosgrove and Peter
Jackson (1987:99) argue that culture should be understood as the medium through which people
transform the phenomena of material world into a world of significant symbols to which they give
meaning and attach value hence culture is the very medium through which charge is experienced,
contested and constituted on as Jackson (1982:22). Culture is the level at which social groups develop
distinct patterns of life and hence maps of meaning through which the world is made intelligible .

The Crystal Frontier By Carlos Fuentes
In The Crystal Frontier, Carlos Fuentes presents two of his main characters in much a similar fashion;
in Spoils, we find Dionisio is a world renowned chef and cuisine connoisseur, and also a fervent critic
of American cuisine and culture. Dionisio believes that through his country s chromosomal
imperialism, Mexico will be able to solidify its sphere of influence in America; however, when he
travels to the United States, he indulges in the same institutions that he ridicules when he lives in
Mexico. Similarly, in Pain we encounter the young and aspiring doctor, Juan Zamora. Zamora is an
ambitious student who travels to the United States to further his education and learns that successful
networking is the way to get ahead in American society. Zamora and Dionisio are both functions of
their environment. When they are living in America, they are exhibiting an innate interconnectedness
with society, and when they live in Mexico quite the opposite; Zamora and Dionisio display traditional
attributes which are stereotypical to that of the Mexican who lives in solitude. This essay will seek to
dissect each character and describe how each utilizes his own respective Mexican Mask to acquire
what he truly desires, and it will describe how each character s personality fluctuates simply due to
where he is geographically located. Dionisio believes that through Mexico s chromosomal imperialism
his country will endure and even spread its cultural influence in the United States

Realism And Impressionism
Realism and Impressionism are two noteworthy periods in history of art during which distinctive types
of art including painting, architecture, music, essentially enhanced, mirroring the ideologies and
artistic philosophies during that time.
Throughout the movement of Realism in the 19th century, it had become common for Parisians to
make outings to the suburbs along the Seine and, although related scenes had already appeared in
illustrations and prints on themes of Parisian leisure, they were unusual as the subject matter for large
painting. In general terms of suburban leisure, Courbet s was first of what became a highly popular
topic for painting, especially among the Impressionists, from Édouard Manet Déjeuner sur l herbe and
Claude Monet On the bank of the Seine to George Seurat s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La
Grande Jatte .
This essay compares and contrasts these two art periods regarding the major works created by
outstanding artists. In such manner, the work Young ladies on the banks of the Seine , created by
Gustave Courbet has been compared with Édouard Manet s painting Luncheon on the grass .
Courbet s painting depicts two young Parisiennes resting during the summer heat in a flowery spot
under overhanging trees on the shady banks of the Seine. The piece exhibited for the first time in Paris
in 1857 provoked a scandal caused mainly by the Courbet s choice of subject. He changed the
traditionally way of portraying women within a natural setting with

Child Soldiers Persuasive Speech
War is a very tough thing to handle. There is sacrifice and death, and yet peace is still not found. Now
countries like the U.S. might fight with others but they don t use children to do it. Other countries like
Sierra Leone are using children to fight their battles. Their horrible methods are immoral and unsafe,
so it is only safe to say that child soldiers are the victims of this unspeakable act. The goal should be
to rehabilitate these children, not punish them. We should give these kids a chance at a normal life.
Some of these children have watched their parents die in front of them or have been victims of rape
and abuse. They have nothing and if we punish them even more by taking away the one thing they are

I. Introduction
Asexual Propagation is the process of using plant materials such as the stems, leaves, and roots to
multiply the number of plants. These plants eventually grow to be a brand new plant that is genetically
identical to the parent plant it came from. In several types of plants, asexual propagation is the fastest
means of new plant growth. Asexual propagation is also a good way to maintain a plant species
because they are genetically identical. In this process, adventitious roots are seen in the growing cycle.
Adventitious roots are those that grow form parts of the plant that they normally would not grow from.

Next, take cuttings using pruners from each assigned plant and insert them in their designated area.
For the Ficus, Japanese boxwood, Swedish Ivy, and Autumn Sage take one tip and one stem cutting.
Each of these cuttings should be long enough to where there are four nodes present, two above the soil
and two below. For the Mouse Ear Jew and the Wandering Traveler make two tip and two stem
cuttings. To test the significance of polarity, take four tip cuttings from the Snake Plant, first cut one
large cutting then make four V shaped cuts into it, two with tips up and two with tips down. Also to
test polarity, take two cuttings from the Umbrella Palm, take two cuttings that both still have the tips
on them. Take the leaves off the top and place in soil upside down for reverse polarity and one right
side up for positive polarity. For the Peperomia, simply take one leave cutting and put the petiole
below the soil. Next, the Mother of Thousands calls for one plantlet and one leaf cutting. Take these
and place in the soil. For the Jade plant take one leaf and one stem cutting. The stem needs to have
four nodes available, two above and two below. For the leaf cutting make sure it is planted about
halfway into the soil. After these cuttings have been planted, put in a stake with a name on it to
separate each individual s plants. III. Results

The Absurdity Of Venus By William Shakespeare
Shakespeare quickly manifests Venus as a desire driven being. In order to convince Adonis to give in
to her lust, Venus attempted to persuade Adonis with grand exaltation, forced contact, and even a
fraudulent fainting episode. All throughout these lustful demonstrations of love , Venus hyperbolizes
both her love for Adonis and his beauty. Despite her best efforts, Venus fails in her efforts to gain both
his love and lust. Furthermore, her falsified claims reveal to us a character whose desire is not
constructed as a stable force, but as an (...) attempt to reshape reality (Stanivukovic 293). The
absurdity of Venus acts hint at Shakespeare s attempt to implement Venus as the personified emotion
of desire . Her attempts to reshape the reality of Adonis disdain indicate that a different force, more
powerful than Venus lust, is preventing Adonis from complying. Many events throughout the poem
indicate nature s prominence as this preventive and controlling force. Many indications that nature
encompasses all lie within Venus coercion. Early on, Venus tries to convince Adonis that failing to
reproduce is an abuse of his gifted life: The first line argues against individuals being selfish and
living just for themselves quite ironic in itself given that she never grows due to immortality. Whether
she believes in what she says or says it to manipulate Adonis, desire clearly controls her actions.
Previewing her thoughts in the next stanza, the next two lines explain the

Reincarnation Is A Belief Of The Soul After Death
Reincarnation is a belief that has existed since ancient times. Not everybody believes in the theory, but
it is also the basis of some religions. Reincarnation is the rebirth of the soul after death, and it is
believed to happen to everyone. Some people even have memories of their past lives unlike others.
Reincarnation is an intriguing belief that could explain what happens to people after death.
I.A.
The one person who started the theory of reincarnation is unknown, but there are a few religions
believed to have started the theory in ancient times. Many Americans like to think of reincarnation as
a fantasy of supernatural Buddhists, Hindus, and aboriginal tribes, but there are many more religions
whose teachings say to believe. First, the subject of reincarnation comes up in the traditions of India.
Second, it is one of the core beliefs of hinduism Hindus have always believed in the theory (
Reincarnation ). Next, many people claim ancient Egyptians taught reincarnation. It is also believed to
be in ancient Greek mythology ( Reincarnation Mark ). Another believed culture to have studied
reincarnation in the early ages was the Greek Pre socratics. Finally, the religion, Jainism, mentions
reincarnation very early in their culture ( Reincarnation ).
I.B.
Many people know of reincarnation, but are not informed on the whole topic. First, reincarnation is
simply dying, and then living again. It is a religious/ philosophical concept that the soul and spirit

Photographic Images Hanging On The Gallery Wall

Photographic Art Images.
There are many books, fine art prints, articles in journals and magazines about architectural
photography by some excellent photographers, emphasising architecture s visual strength, design and
conceptual quality, without which there would be no challenges for the photographer to attempt to
capture in the first instance. Architectural photography has an immense capacity to stimulate the
wonder of the man made world in a virtuoso manner. The intrinsic worth of a successful work of
decorative art photography is that it can open up new perceptions. Through photography buildings
exude a visual charge and imaginative possibilities beyond their everyday functions, giving the viewer
an interesting and engaging ocular experience, and a visual understanding of the world.
The picture hanging on the gallery wall leaves itself wide open to scrutiny, criticism or study but
ultimately invites, with visual intrigue the aesthetic pleasure and satisfaction, which the viewer derives
from sensory involvement of the image before them.

Such decorative architectural images draw our attention to the way we view the world of buildings
and underline the fact that most people usually only use a building for work and leisure without really
understanding that sometimes these structures are a complex art form in their own right. Photographs,

Histogram is approximately bell shaped and symmetric and agrees with the results predicted by the
Central Limit Theorem which says that whatever the population shape, the sampling distribution is
approximately normal
5) Standard deviation = 3.5518 ( = STDEV formula was used) Standard deviation of population =

Physical Activity Is Important For The Population s Health
Physical activity is important for the population s health, emotional well being and achieving a healthy
weight. It has become increasingly clear that a person s health and well being are improved by
physical activity, as well as by a well balanced diet (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention
National Centre for Chronic Disease and Health Promotion, 1996). Physical activity and diet are
related in order for the human body to be able to cope with the stresses of exercise a well balanced
diet with the correct nutrients must be consumed (Coyle, 2000). However, exercise alongside a
balanced diet is said to improve weight loss (Kirkwood et al., 2007; Shaw et al., 2006), where as the
relationship between different types of diet and performance or between muscle hypertrophy and fat
loss is still controversial (Manninen, 2006; Pitsiladis Maughan, 1999; Wolfe, 2000).
In order to achieve optimal performance levels consuming the correct nutrients before a competition is
vital. It is well evidenced that carbohydrate rich intake before and during exercise can improve
endurance performance by delaying the onset of fatigue (Kotsioulou and Vleck, 2002; Febbraio et al.,
2000; Jeukendrup, 2004). This ergogenic effect is mainly caused by the increased accessibility of
blood glucose for the delivery of energy to the active muscles (Coggan and Coyle, 1991). Therefore,
fasting before high intensity training is not recommended because it rapidly depletes liver and muscle
glycogen (Kang,

Animals Save For Animals
In the world there are about 1.3 million different species that scientists have named. Out of that 1.3
million there are about 50,000 species that are endangered or close to being endangered according to
the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) Red List. Lately, multiple zoos have
been crucified for housing some of these animals. This problem has been arising for quite some time
but no one seems to acknowledge it. The problem isn t with the zoos housing the animals it is that
there are animals in the wild that are constantly being hunted. These animals need to be protected and
saved from the different dangers they encounter. Zoos provide animals a safe place to live and they
also help fund programs assembled to protect the animals in the zoo and in the wild. They are vital to
the survival of many species and therefore should be preserved.
Zoos have been proven to be essential towards the safety and recovery of many animals rescued from
the wild. All around the world there are zoos that house these different species in safe and natural like
environments, they are considered to be safe havens. For example, by being housed in zoos, animals
do not suffer from the stress of threats or being potentially hunted by their common predators (Agnew
1). The animals are able to live in their habitat at the zoo sometimes along with other animals of their
species. Each animal has a safe enclosure that suits them and their lifestyle. The enclosures are not

Factory Act Of 1800 Dbq Analysis
Were Political or Economic Revolutions the Most Impacting on Society?
All throughout history, there have been plenty of revolutions. They have had both negative and
positive impacts on society and the economy. The Industrial Revolution by far, has been the most
impacting on the world. During the revolution, ingenious inventions helped to shape the revolution
and influence modern technology. As well as these inventions, the Factory Act of 1833 was passed,
which improved working conditions for children laboring in factories. In addition to these two things,
a new time standard was created that the whole country of Britain would eventually run on. In
contrast, some people believe political revolutions, like the Haitian and French, were more evolving.

Britain today runs on GMT, which stands for Greenwich Mean Time. The time is exactly five hours
ahead of the time it is in Connecticut, which runs on EST, or Eastern Standard Time. The countries:
United Kingdom, France, Spain, Algeria, Mali, Ghana are all in the GMT time zone. For these
countries, this means the line located on the Greenwich Meridian runs through them. During the
Industrial Revolution, Britain decided it wanted to set a standard time that would be followed by
everyone. It was the first country to do this. Railways in Britain, ...cared most about the
inconsistencies of local mean time, and they forced a uniform time on the country, (Document 7). The
country felt compelled to adapt a new standard of time, after railway workers expressed complaints of
inconvenience. This standard of time was known as, London Time. Furthermore, in November 1840,
the Great Western Railway was the first to follow London Time, which eventually influenced other
railways to do the same. By 1847, the majority of railways ran on London Time (Document 7).
Moreover, it was later approved that all stations be adopted to this new unit of time, known as GMT.
This recommendation was made on September 22, 1847, by the Railway Clearing House, which
eventually received approval from the General Post Office (Document 7). This was much more
convenient for railways, as they could have a

Mrs. Ferguson s An Emotional Breakdown
Mrs. Ferguson sniffled. Out of her nose oozed a slimy strand of pale, green liquid. Her runny nose was
not caused by the cold, though it was very cool this time of year. No, she had in fact just lost her 45
year old husband, who had been murdered. When she had received word of the tragic event, she had
suffered an emotional breakdown. She had desperately demanded to know who the killer was, but the
man who she was speaking with on the phone had told her that the police had no idea, but they were
investigating. She had hung up, and cried constantly. By the time her tears had stopped spilling, her
cheeks had been covered with a crusty coating of dried tears.Need descriptive words. Currently, she
was at the local cemetery, where all around, freshly fallen snow twinkled and glistened on the once

The Impact Of Cultural Differences On Project Management...
Executive Summary
The focus of this research paper is to demonstrate the need for project management, identify the
current and future trends within project management around the world, and discuss the effects of
cultural differences on project management. Project management was first used in civil engineering
and architecture projects but it soon spread to other industries such as the automobile and
communication industries. After technological advancements, such as improvements in computer
mainframes and softwares, project management softwares emerged to help manage complex projects.
These programs along with locating and retaining the right type of talent within an organization
becomes a crucial part of an organization s structure and ultimately their success. Organizations must
be able to assign the right people, with the right technical and soft skills, to the right project.
Certification programs and in house trainings are now available to help improve project managers
technical skills, communication skills, and other soft skills needed to be effective/successful. There
has also been an increased interest within organizations to reach a higher level of project management
maturity. As businesses continue to expand and new opportunities in the market trigger the emerging
of new companies, there is an increasing demand for project managers nationally and globally. Project
management roles are expected to increase up to 28.1 million between 2010 and 2020. Utilizing

Ethos In Letter From Birmingham Jail
On April 16, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. wrote an open letter to African Americans and all
Americans who care about the civil right movement. In order to defend the strategy of nonviolent
resistance to racism and respond to being called an outsider, King wrote his famous letter Letter from

because of his identity of civil rights leader and his credibility(ethos)? Is it by the reason of the
argument there are just laws and unjust laws (King) which he exerted numerous theoretical basis with
utmost efforts(logos)? Or, It s due to his passionate writing style and the description of the image of
the oppressed black people(pathos). Actually, It s all of them. These are the rhetorical method King
used in his letter. At the beginning of the letter, King had already manifested his great ethos. He
showed his sincere attitude to readers to better answer their questions, But since I feel that you are
men of genuine good will and that your criticisms are sincerely set forth, I want to try to answer your
statement in what I hope will be patient and reasonable terms (King), which enabled him to establish
his trust in some demanding readers. Moreover, at the end of the letter, he wrote, I also hope that
circumstances will soon make it possible for me to meet each of you, not as an integrationist or a civil

The Dispossessed by Ursula Le Guin
The Dispossessed by Ursula Le Guin is a criticism of today s capitalism by investigating what society
structure would be best for human society. Le Guin uses the two models of capitalism and
communism to be compared and contrasted against one another to determine which would function
better and how to achieve such success. In order to depict what a replacement structure would look
like; Le Guin creates two worlds to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of influence that each
of these models have not only on their society, but on Shevek, the main character. The planet of Urras
is a wealthy society, but all of this money is in the hands of the elites at the expense of those in the

A Comparative Analysis of Shamanistic healers in Celtic...
Many different forms of medicine are currently practiced in the world. In fact, as our text states, in all
cultures, some people have become recognized as having special abilities to treat and diagnose health
problems. (Miller 107) Without argument, phytomedicinal and supernatural healers are two forms of
medical treatment that have been around for longer than any other, regardless of culture. It has been
estimated that shamanism has been practiced for over ten thousand years (Tyson 3). Native American
and Celtic healers are often known as shamans.

of medicine. Native Americans as well as Celtics have always held a certain mystique that ... Show

For the purpose of this paper, we will examine the similarities and differences between Irish Celtic and
Native American shamans and their position in their respective cultures.
For the Native American shaman the world of animals, the world of plants, the world of minerals, and
the world of humans are all intertwined (Wolfe 3). Shamans in the Native American culture are
viewed as a revered member of society, are often male, and are the sole healers of their people. While
anyone can become a shaman in the Native American culture, the attainment of the status is an
arduous process, and is considered a feat of great courage. The introduction of self to the spiritual
world in such an intimate way has been considered dangerous because of the risk of insanity, as well
as the risk of possession by angry spirits (Wolfe 237). From ancient times to modern times, shamans
have been considered to be the link between the physical world and the spiritual world. (Wolfe 3). The
Native American shamans utilize many sacred objects in their workings, which are considered sacred
solely because they come from nature. These include talismans, spirit animals, totem helpers, ritual
items, and spirit helpers (Wolfe, 9). Tobacco and other herbs, cornmeal, small shells, stones, and
totems are important elements to their healing practices (Wolfe 20). Regardless of the methods that the
shamans may use in healing, many Native American shamans believe that no one person heals

weakness would be that you will never get the most appropriate light that everyone will agree upon.

Time:
Time can affect communication in that if a meeting or consultation is scheduled at a later time then the
atmosphere between the people will not only be strained in that I imagine they would both be tired,
but also there could be misread signals in the use of a later slot, due to the connotations or the stigma
attached to night or evening time gatherings, not only this but no one will be able to concentrate due to
the thoughts of bed and sleep running through their minds. A method of removing the problems or
issues attached to having a later meeting time would be to try and schedule for another, earlier time or
if this is not possible, reschedule for another day when it is. A strength with this method is that it does
not take too much time or effort to do and takes into account that if one day will not be available,
another day would be just as appropriate. On the other hand, a weakness would be that, in most cases
rescheduling may not be possible. For instance if there was a deadline to keep to or there are no other
times that everyone else can manage around their schedules and late nights were the only times that
everyone is free, therefore, they would all have to try to pull themselves together and get the work
done to the best of their abilities. In a nutshell, a strength in this method would be that it is quick and

The Power Of Parliament And Parliamentary Sovereignty
Prior to the English Civil War and Glorious Revolution the Crown acted outside Parliament, causing
there to be a struggle for power between the King, the Courts and the Parliament in the 17th Century.
Eventually the Courts and Parliament defeated the power of the King and Parliamentary Sovereignty
emerged. Parliamentary sovereignty holds that parliament has absolute sovereignty it is the supreme
law maker over all other government institutions. There are no legal limitations on the legislative
competence of Parliament and no person is allowed to override or set aside the law of Parliament. R
(on the application of Jackson) v AG (2005) shows that the definition of an Act of Parliament differs
according to whether it has been passed with consent of House of Commons and Lords or just the
House of Commons. The courts have the power to decide if a document is an Act of Parliament. In
this case they found that the Parliament Act 1949 and the Hunting Act 2004 were passed under
procedure laid down by Parliament Act 1949 and are valid statutes. For Dicey, it was the very
keystone of the law of the constitution that Parliament is the sovereign or supreme legislative authority
in the state. He defined Parliamentary Sovereignty as The principle of Parliamentary sovereignty
means neither more nor less than this, namely, that Parliament has, under the English constitution, the
right to make or unmake any law whatever; and, further, that no person or body is recognised by

Samuel Taylor Contribution To Psychology
INTRODUCTION
Organization Defined
Organizations are complex systems which rely on people, structures and technology to achieve their
goals and objectives. They are created to serve the needs of the societies or communities in which they
operate and are influenced by both their internal environment (culture) and their external environment.
As defined by Robins an organization is a continuously co ordinated social unit of two or more people
that functions on a relatively continuous basis to achieve a common goal or set of goals (Robins
2005).
Organizational Behaviour Defined
Behaviour on the other hand, he defines simply as the actions of people (Robins 2005). Organization
behaviour (often referred to as OB) is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although his work emphasized the technical rather than purely human side of management, he did
point out the role of specific incentives in motivating workers and the value of specialization. Perhaps
Taylor s greatest contribution to the study of management and organizational behaviour was his
approach of applying the scientific method to industrial problems. (Colonel Samuel H Hays and
Lieutenant Colonel William N Thomas,Taking Command, Stackpole Books, USA, 1976, p 93). This
scientific approach has been adopted by several theorists and applied to the filed of organizational
behaviour.
CONTRIBUTIONS BY VARIOUS DISCIPLINS
The Contribution of Psychology to the field of OB
The psychological contribution to OB focussed on understanding individuals and predicting their
behaviour, and using that knowledge within organizations to improve the organization s competitive
advantage. Psychological studies focussed on areas such as perceptions, learning, personality
development, needs and motivation. Of these areas motivation is the over arching factor and most
important to the organizational setting because it deals with an individual s willingness to work.
Motivation is defined as the conscious decision to direct effort toward one activity more than others
(Coffey et. al). Of course one cannot speak of motivation unless they mention Abraham Maslow and
his hierarchy of needs theory. Maslow hypothesized that within every

Connotation In Frankenstein
Mary Shelley wrote her first novel, Frankenstein, in 1818, using a mixture of gothic and romantic
conventions. Shelley depicts a complex relationship between a creator, Victor Frankenstein, and his
creation. While the romantic setting helps to characterize Frankenstein and his creation, the dark
gothic nature of the work helps to build suspense. While Frankenstein and his creation are talking for
the first time, their true emotions toward one another are revealed. Through the use of various literary
techniques, Shelley conveys the relationship between Victor Frankenstein and his creation as one
absorbed with deep hatred and misunderstanding established through assumptions. Throughout the
passage, the hatred Frankenstein and his creation have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, Frankenstein tells his creation that [he] could, with the extinction of [the creation s]
miserable existence, restore those victims whom [he has] so diabolically murdered! The negative
connotation of diabolically, which is associated with devils, illustrates how Frankenstein views his
creation. He makes an assumption about the creation murdering someone, while there is no evidence
of to support this accusation. Even more, Victory claims that the tortures of hell are too mild a
vengeance for thy crimes. Frankenstein continues to assume the creation is the one that committed
these crimes. He claims that even hell [is] too mild for these crimes. After this assumption, the
creation entreats [Victor] to hear [him], before [he] gives vent to [his] hatred on [the creation s]

Victor to listen to [him]; and then, if [Victor] can, and if [he] will, destroy the work of [his] hands. The

Nobody recognized me. Perfect. I spotted Luxenberg he was next to the champagne fountain with

champagne fountain. I casually grabbed a teaspoon on the way and hid in my pocket. I was right
behind him and he wasn t even aware of it. I looked at the glasses of champagne from the table. I
picked up one of the glasses with my left hand and extracted the small tablet and teaspoon out of my
jacket with my right. Then, when nobody was looking in my direction, I quickly dropped the tablet
into the glass. The capsule started fizzing, then dissolved immediately. I gave a quick stir, then put the
spoon back in my pocket. I grabbed another drink for myself. Now it was time to get his attention. I

Oskar Schindler s Actions During the Holocaust Essay...
Oskar Schindler s Actions During the Holocaust
The Holocaust usually refers to Nazi Germany s systematic genocide of various peoples during the
Second World War, the main target of this designed massacre being the Jews. Approximately 6 million
Jews became the victims of this fanatical racism, slaughter, and cruelty. However, in all this madness,
there were still a few people with sound conscience and courage to act against these atrocities. The
most famous of these heroes would be Oskar Schindler, the once opportunistic businessman who,
later, spent every last of his pennies to save his 1200 Schindler Jews. People often deliberate on why

In order to keep his Jews out of the death camps, Schindler spent a sum of 4 million German marks
which was an enormous sum of money for those times. People ask why. They ask why such a greedy
opportunistic person changed his way of living and spent the whole of his life and his money to save
the Jews. When asked this question in person, Schindler replied as follows.
I hated the brutality, the sadism, and the insanity of Nazism. I just couldn t stand by and see people
destroyed. I did what I could, what I had to do, what my conscience told me I must do. That s all there
is to it. Really, nothing more.
Like he said, that was all there was to the reason for Schindler s actions. Schindler believed that the
Germans were doing wrong when they started killing innocent people, and, therefore, did what was
right, which was trying to save as many victims as possible.
Any person with a sound mind and a sound conscience would have realized what Schindler had
realized. However, during this period of intense cruelty, the vast majority of German citizens stood by
and watched as their Jewish neighbors were dragged from their homes, stripped of their belongings,
and killed. Two famous psychological experiments illustrate why no one else did what Oskar
Schindler did.
Stanley Milgram, a psychologist at Yale University, conducted a study focusing on the conflict
between obedience to authority and personal conscience. The experiment began in July 1961, a

America s Changing Fringe Economy
Part I: Chapter 1: America s Changing Fringe Economy In Chapter 1 it goes into depth with a multiple
definitions of the fringe economy and how profitable the fringe economy is. This chapter also
provides information pertaining the involvement of mainstream financial institutions that would have
been guessed. It talks about how 22,000 payday lenders extended more than $25 billion in short term
loans to millions of struggling households in 2004. Also it went over how 11,000 check cashing stores
alone processed 180 million checks, which would equal to about $55 Billion. With payday lenders out
numbering other local stores and restaurants it is allowing them to be at every corner in low income
neighborhoods making it convenient and pushing banks out of the area. For example, straight out of
the book it describes how McDonald s has only 13,500 U.S. restaurants, Burger King has 7624, Target
has 1,250 stores, Sears has 1,970, J.C. Penney has about 1,000 locations, and the entire Wal Mart retail
chain includes about 3,600 U.S. outlets. All of these combined 29,000 locations are fewer than the
nation s 33,000 check cashing and payday lenders, just two sectors of the fringe economy. Chapter 2:
Why the Fringe economy is Growing In Chapter 2 the author, Karger, defines another component of
the fringe economy, the customers and provides an in depth explanation of each factors contributing to

one deals with death and dying differ greatly. Death rituals are usually based on beliefs. This can come
from religion, history, language, and art. Native American traditions as well as rituals may differ from

Today the Chinese population still follows these traditions with a few small exceptions of modern
times. All elders are given respect in the Chinese society, those living or deceased. There is a question
that still remains in this culture on how to prepare a funeral of unmarried adults and children. No
respect is given to a person who died as a bachelor or bachelorette, or if they did not have children.
They are not considered an elder and do not have children that prepare the funeral for them. Children
are also shown no respect because they do not have anyone to prepare their death ritual. They are left
at their funeral home and the family members preform these burials in silence. The children in
Chinese families prepare funerals for elders. It is considered proper for the children of the deceased to
go into debt in order to pay respect for the older people at the funeral. The body of the dead must be
washed with care, dusted with talcum powder, and dressed in the nicest clothes from the personal
wardrobe before being placed in the casket for burial. All of the other clothing that belongs to the
deceased elder must be burned. The deceased is never dressed in red because it is believed that it will
turn the corpse into a ghost. The body is placed on a yellow cloth with the face covered, and then the
body is covered with a blue cloth. All statues of deities are covered with red paper and all mirrors are
removed from site in the home when preparing the home for the death ritual. The mirror is removed so
that no one sees the coffin in the mirror. If someone sees the coffin in the mirror, it is believed that you
will have a death within your own family soon. A white cloth is hung in the doorway and a gong is
placed outside the door of the home of the deceased. If the person who is deceased is a male, it is

Research – Methodology and Ethics
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND ETHICS
This essay attempts to identify and sum up two research methods (Qualitative and Quantitative
Research Methods), assess their relative strengths and weaknesses and explain how two ethical issues
arise from research. Qualitative and Quantitative research approaches are two of the various methods
used in sociological research. The use of these methods can be very important and can normally
produce efficient, realistic and logical results.
So what is qualitative research and what is quantitative research? To begin with, we look at the
distinctions between the forms of research. Thus, on first consideration, the use of questionnaires as a
research technique might be seen as a quantitative strategy, whereas ... Show more content on

Qualitative descriptions can play the important role of suggesting possible relationships, causes,
effects and dynamic processes.
Because statistics are not used, but rather qualitative research uses a more descriptive, narrative style,
this research might be of particular benefit to the practitioner as she, or he could turn to qualitative
reports in order to examine forms of knowledge that might otherwise be unavailable, thereby gaining
new insight.
Qualitative research adds flesh and blood to social analysis.
Both qualitative and quantitative research methods have some similarities, for instance, whilst
quantitative research may be mostly used for testing theory, it can also be used for exploring area and
generating hypotheses and theory. Similarly qualitative research can be used for testing hypotheses
and theories even though it is mostly used for theory generation.
Qualitative data often includes quantification, e.g. statements such as more than, less than, most as
well as specific numbers, quantitative, i.e. questionnaire approaches can collect qualitative data
through open ended questions.
ETHICAL ISSUES IN QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH
During the designing of questionnaires and the training of interviewers a number of ethical issues need
to be taken into consideration. Respondents have a right to be informed about the nature and purposes

Tree Stump Removal
Tree stumps are an inevitable part of owning property with trees. After a tree is downed, homeowners
often decide to leave the stumps in the ground, either to reduce tree removal costs, or clean up efforts.
However, doing so can actually end up costing you more in landscaping and home maintenance. Here
are 5 reasons homeowners should consider a tree stump removal service in Wilmington.
Stumps Can be Safety Hazards
Making sure the home and surrounding areas are free from safety issues should be high on any
property owner s priority list. As innocent as low cut stumps may appear, they can actually create
hazards for both adults and children because they are easily hidden behind shrubs and grass.

Termites, carpenter ants. and other wood boring insects quickly move into the rotting stumps. Insects
play a major role in decomposing and are vital to a health ecosystem; however, insects can spread into
surrounding trees, and buildings, causing thousands of dollars worth of property damage. Removing
the stump reduces these pests and the risk to the home.
Saplings Can Grow From The Stump
Particularly important when the tree was removed due to space or drainage issues, when left in the
yard, stumps may grow new saplings. New growth, while slow and steady, will revert the yard to the
same circumstances that led to the removal to begin with. Removing the stump minimizes the risks of
a new tree causing the same problems.
Difficult Landscaping Upkeep
Stumps create unique challenges when it comes to maintenance and landscaping. Mowing and weed
control can become difficult, especially for large and oddly shaped stumps. Simple upkeep can also
take a lot longer than if the stump was removed, causing property owners to abandon other projects to
maintain the space around the stump, or allow the stump to become over grown, which posses a safety

Title:
The Study of Gothic Style and Its Influence on Modern Day Concept Arts
Introduction:
Gothic art flourished from the 12th century to the 16th century in Europe in response of the Byzantine
and Romanesque tradition. Although Gothic is associated with arts, its most prominent use is in
architecture, mainly for its pointed arch and flying buttress. To this day, the Gothic style is taken as a
label for visual arts such as concept art designs, yet the meaning stray from the original context, thus
becoming rarely accurate.
In this study, one of the objectives is to discover how a concept artist conveys moods through gothic
style and the feels in his or her concept art ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

effect in influencing one s perception of gothic based elements
3. To find out how Gothic style has evolved throughout the eras, from the original early period to
modern era, and also to learn how to apply the style accordingly in creating future artworks
4. To discover whether a concept artist s way and theory of art suited to be made as guidelines for art
students in producing artwork
Methodology:
In context of art and style, the suitable research type for this study, Gothic Style and Its Influence in
Modern Day Concept Art , is Qualitative Studies . The study is aimed to explain phenomena or
happening in a verbal manner and/or written descriptions rather than complex experimentation or
hypothesis by using numerical value ( Quantitative Studies ). In simpler words, a qualitative approach
will be conducted to study the influence of Gothic style in modern day concept art.

Role Of Play On Early Childhood Education
Role of Play on Early Childhood Education Bharati Saha
Early Childhood Education Department, University of Oklahoma
This paper is submitted for the EDEC 5970 Social Emotion in Early Childhood as part of the course
requirement.
Abstract
Early childhood development occurs in six domains. This paper discusses the role of play and its
effects on these domains in children learning. Different types play and play centers were discussed to
show connectivity of the play type and domain development. Interactions among children during play
can enhance cooperative learning using methods and materials used in the play center. Teacher plays
important role to set up the play center, method and materials to be used, and create the learning
environment with specific goal setting. Intervention approach by asking different types of questions
help them to engage, make learning fun, and effective collaborative learning.
Introduction
. Early childhood development takes place in six domains including physical, language, social,
cognitive, emotional, and cultural. Figure 1 shows all six domains in early childhood development.
Physical domain involves learning to use big muscles (gross motor skills) and small muscles (fine
motor skills) in our body. Activities such as crawling, walking, running, hopping, ups and downs are a
few examples of gross motor skills. Writing, drawing, cutting with scissors and walking on a line are a
few examples of fine motor skills.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Percy Bysshe Shelley And John Keats
In Like a Poet three poets will be discussed, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Percy Bysshe
Shelley and John Keats. These poets contribute to the society of poetry in distinctive ways.
However, they also have some similarities and prove poetry has been around for centuries and will not
vanish in the near future. Many may think that poetry is only enjoyed by those that have the ability to
think deeply and beyond the normal spectrum of society. Nevertheless, poetry is inspiring, romantic,
fascinating, emotional and all around amazing. Poetry, whether it is complex or a few simple lines, has
demonstrated to be for all humanity. Samuel Taylor Coleridge whom I will refer to as Coleridge
throughout Like a Poet is somewhat complex in his writing. He uses many words that may have to be
researched and or read over several times before understand what he is discussing. Coleridge s poem
Kubla
Khan is a great example of complex poetry with hints of simplicity. In this poem Coleridge describes a
place of pleasure that is encased by gloom, for example in Kubla Khan it reads in lines 5 11, Down to
a sunless sea. So twice five miles of fertile ground with walls and towers were girdled round: And
there were gardens bright with sinuous rills, Where blossomed many an incense bearing tree; and here
were forests ancient as the hill, Enfolding sunny spots of greenery. In this section of the poem it is

  • 2. How Do I Explain Behaviour. Lecture How do we explain behavior Behaviour generally refers to actions or reactions (an activity or response of some kind) of an object or organism usually in relation to the environment or surrounding world of stimuli. Behaviour can be conscious or unconscious, overt or covert, voluntary or involuntary, sometimes it can be common, unusual, acceptable, or outside acceptable limits. The acceptability of behavior is evaluated relative to social norms and regulated by various means of social control. Insight into human behavior comes from both scientific and non scientific investigations. Political scientists study international relationships, the workings of government, and the exercise of power and authority. Psychologists investigate personality and individual behaviour. Sociologists focus on the influence society has on people s attitudes and behaviour and the ways in which people shape society. They scientifically examine human social relationships. PSYCHOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR Psychology is an academic and applied field that is often defined as the scientific study of mental processes and behavior. Psychologists want to understand every aspect of behavior (humans and organisms) therefore they explore the unknown world of nature through the use of scientific methods which eliminate bias and opinion and provide convincing evidence. Other methods of obtaining knowledge such as intuitions and personal experiences, logical deductions and common sense or pronouncements of authority figures are not accepted by scientists. These sources of knowledge rely on opinions or beliefs that others may disagree with, or may be created by someone who is biased or wrong. The scientific study of psychology is especially geared towards learning about an organism s behavior by observing and studying that behaviour, while minimizing the influences of bias or opinion. Psychology differs from sociology, anthropology, economics, and political science in part because it involves studying the mental processes and behavior of individuals (alone or in ... Dance becomes an art when done with passion and enthusiasm. The audience can connect and respond with the dancer if done properly. When we use dancing in a story line musical we are attempting to give the audience a deeper understanding. As every story every musical has a moral to the story or main idea. • 4. Gender Impacts Of Gender Influence On Gender And Gender INTRODUCTION Gender is a set of behavioural norm of the masculine or feminine characteristics. It is performative in nature and is largely determined by child s upbringing. The term became popular in 1980 s. This terminology Gender has great association with geography as gender is being influenced by society and culture as these cultures tends to vary over space. So, the gender role also tends to change over space. Gender relation varies across nations in terms of women s subordination and male power domination. Therefore, it can be said that culture builds up gender and gender is influenced and in turn influence space. In geography, studies relating to culture basically focus on culturally determined human activities, impact of human activities on environment and human organization on space. In all manners of human geographers from economic to political, from urban to regional, from feminist to Marxist culture has become primary focal point of study. Denis Cosgrove and Peter Jackson (1987:99) argue that culture should be understood as the medium through which people transform the phenomena of material world into a world of significant symbols to which they give meaning and attach value hence culture is the very medium through which charge is experienced, contested and constituted on as Jackson (1982:22). • 5. The Crystal Frontier By Carlos Fuentes In The Crystal Frontier, Carlos Fuentes presents two of his main characters in much a similar fashion; in Spoils, we find Dionisio is a world renowned chef and cuisine connoisseur, and also a fervent critic of American cuisine and culture. Dionisio believes that through his country s chromosomal imperialism, Mexico will be able to solidify its sphere of influence in America; however, when he travels to the United States, he indulges in the same institutions that he ridicules when he lives in Mexico. Similarly, in Pain we encounter the young and aspiring doctor, Juan Zamora. Zamora is an ambitious student who travels to the United States to further his education and learns that successful networking is the way to get ahead in American society. Zamora and Dionisio are both functions of their environment. When they are living in America, they are exhibiting an innate interconnectedness with society, and when they live in Mexico quite the opposite; Zamora and Dionisio display traditional attributes which are stereotypical to that of the Mexican who lives in solitude. This essay will seek to dissect each character and describe how each utilizes his own respective Mexican Mask to acquire what he truly desires, and it will describe how each character s personality fluctuates simply due to where he is geographically located. Dionisio believes that through Mexico s chromosomal imperialism his country will endure and even spread its cultural influence in the United States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Realism And Impressionism Realism and Impressionism are two noteworthy periods in history of art during which distinctive types of art including painting, architecture, music, essentially enhanced, mirroring the ideologies and artistic philosophies during that time. Throughout the movement of Realism in the 19th century, it had become common for Parisians to make outings to the suburbs along the Seine and, although related scenes had already appeared in illustrations and prints on themes of Parisian leisure, they were unusual as the subject matter for large painting. In general terms of suburban leisure, Courbet s was first of what became a highly popular topic for painting, especially among the Impressionists, from Édouard Manet Déjeuner sur l herbe and Claude Monet On the bank of the Seine to George Seurat s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte . This essay compares and contrasts these two art periods regarding the major works created by outstanding artists. In such manner, the work Young ladies on the banks of the Seine , created by Gustave Courbet has been compared with Édouard Manet s painting Luncheon on the grass . Courbet s painting depicts two young Parisiennes resting during the summer heat in a flowery spot under overhanging trees on the shady banks of the Seine. The piece exhibited for the first time in Paris in 1857 provoked a scandal caused mainly by the Courbet s choice of subject. He changed the traditionally way of portraying women within a natural setting with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Child Soldiers Persuasive Speech War is a very tough thing to handle. There is sacrifice and death, and yet peace is still not found. Now countries like the U.S. might fight with others but they don t use children to do it. Other countries like Sierra Leone are using children to fight their battles. Their horrible methods are immoral and unsafe, so it is only safe to say that child soldiers are the victims of this unspeakable act. The goal should be to rehabilitate these children, not punish them. We should give these kids a chance at a normal life. Some of these children have watched their parents die in front of them or have been victims of rape and abuse. They have nothing and if we punish them even more by taking away the one thing they are still trying to hold on too, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ms. Speer was wife to Sgt. • 9. The Absurdity Of Venus By William Shakespeare Shakespeare quickly manifests Venus as a desire driven being. In order to convince Adonis to give in to her lust, Venus attempted to persuade Adonis with grand exaltation, forced contact, and even a fraudulent fainting episode. All throughout these lustful demonstrations of love , Venus hyperbolizes both her love for Adonis and his beauty. Despite her best efforts, Venus fails in her efforts to gain both his love and lust. Furthermore, her falsified claims reveal to us a character whose desire is not constructed as a stable force, but as an (...) attempt to reshape reality (Stanivukovic 293). The absurdity of Venus acts hint at Shakespeare s attempt to implement Venus as the personified emotion of desire . Her attempts to reshape the reality of Adonis disdain indicate that a different force, more powerful than Venus lust, is preventing Adonis from complying. Many events throughout the poem indicate nature s prominence as this preventive and controlling force. Many indications that nature encompasses all lie within Venus coercion. Early on, Venus tries to convince Adonis that failing to reproduce is an abuse of his gifted life: The first line argues against individuals being selfish and living just for themselves quite ironic in itself given that she never grows due to immortality. Whether she believes in what she says or says it to manipulate Adonis, desire clearly controls her actions. Previewing her thoughts in the next stanza, the next two lines explain the ... There are many books, fine art prints, articles in journals and magazines about architectural photography by some excellent photographers, emphasising architecture s visual strength, design and conceptual quality, without which there would be no challenges for the photographer to attempt to capture in the first instance. Architectural photography has an immense capacity to stimulate the wonder of the man made world in a virtuoso manner. The intrinsic worth of a successful work of decorative art photography is that it can open up new perceptions. Through photography buildings exude a visual charge and imaginative possibilities beyond their everyday functions, giving the viewer an interesting and engaging ocular experience, and a visual understanding of the world. The picture hanging on the gallery wall leaves itself wide open to scrutiny, criticism or study but ultimately invites, with visual intrigue the aesthetic pleasure and satisfaction, which the viewer derives from sensory involvement of the image before them. It has become increasingly clear that a person s health and well being are improved by physical activity, as well as by a well balanced diet (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention National Centre for Chronic Disease and Health Promotion, 1996). Physical activity and diet are related in order for the human body to be able to cope with the stresses of exercise a well balanced diet with the correct nutrients must be consumed (Coyle, 2000). However, exercise alongside a balanced diet is said to improve weight loss (Kirkwood et al., 2007; Shaw et al., 2006), where as the relationship between different types of diet and performance or between muscle hypertrophy and fat loss is still controversial (Manninen, 2006; Pitsiladis Maughan, 1999; Wolfe, 2000). In order to achieve optimal performance levels consuming the correct nutrients before a competition is vital. It is well evidenced that carbohydrate rich intake before and during exercise can improve endurance performance by delaying the onset of fatigue (Kotsioulou and Vleck, 2002; Febbraio et al., 2000; Jeukendrup, 2004). This ergogenic effect is mainly caused by the increased accessibility of blood glucose for the delivery of energy to the active muscles (Coggan and Coyle, 1991). Le Guin uses the two models of capitalism and communism to be compared and contrasted against one another to determine which would function better and how to achieve such success. In order to depict what a replacement structure would look like; Le Guin creates two worlds to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of influence that each of these models have not only on their society, but on Shevek, the main character. For the Native American shaman the world of animals, the world of plants, the world of minerals, and the world of humans are all intertwined (Wolfe 3). Shamans in the Native American culture are viewed as a revered member of society, are often male, and are the sole healers of their people. While anyone can become a shaman in the Native American culture, the attainment of the status is an arduous process, and is considered a feat of great courage. The introduction of self to the spiritual world in such an intimate way has been considered dangerous because of the risk of insanity, as well as the risk of possession by angry spirits (Wolfe 237). From ancient times to modern times, shamans have been considered to be the link between the physical world and the spiritual world. (Wolfe 3). The Native American shamans utilize many sacred objects in their workings, which are considered sacred solely because they come from nature. The Power Of Parliament And Parliamentary Sovereignty Prior to the English Civil War and Glorious Revolution the Crown acted outside Parliament, causing there to be a struggle for power between the King, the Courts and the Parliament in the 17th Century. Eventually the Courts and Parliament defeated the power of the King and Parliamentary Sovereignty emerged. Parliamentary sovereignty holds that parliament has absolute sovereignty it is the supreme law maker over all other government institutions. There are no legal limitations on the legislative competence of Parliament and no person is allowed to override or set aside the law of Parliament. • 31. Oskar Schindler s Actions During the Holocaust Essay... Oskar Schindler s Actions During the Holocaust The Holocaust usually refers to Nazi Germany s systematic genocide of various peoples during the Second World War, the main target of this designed massacre being the Jews. Approximately 6 million Jews became the victims of this fanatical racism, slaughter, and cruelty. However, in all this madness, there were still a few people with sound conscience and courage to act against these atrocities. The most famous of these heroes would be Oskar Schindler, the once opportunistic businessman who, later, spent every last of his pennies to save his 1200 Schindler Jews. People often deliberate on why Oskar Schindler did what he did. However, the issue of interest should not be focused on why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to keep his Jews out of the death camps, Schindler spent a sum of 4 million German marks which was an enormous sum of money for those times. People ask why. They ask why such a greedy opportunistic person changed his way of living and spent the whole of his life and his money to save the Jews. When asked this question in person, Schindler replied as follows. I hated the brutality, the sadism, and the insanity of Nazism. I just couldn t stand by and see people destroyed. I did what I could, what I had to do, what my conscience told me I must do. That s all there is to it. Really, nothing more. Like he said, that was all there was to the reason for Schindler s actions. Schindler believed that the Germans were doing wrong when they started killing innocent people, and, therefore, did what was right, which was trying to save as many victims as possible. Any person with a sound mind and a sound conscience would have realized what Schindler had realized. However, during this period of intense cruelty, the vast majority of German citizens stood by and watched as their Jewish neighbors were dragged from their homes, stripped of their belongings, and killed. Two famous psychological experiments illustrate why no one else did what Oskar Schindler did. Stanley Milgram, a psychologist at Yale University, conducted a study focusing on the conflict between obedience to authority and personal conscience. The experiment began in July 1961, a ... • 33. America s Changing Fringe Economy Part I: Chapter 1: America s Changing Fringe Economy In Chapter 1 it goes into depth with a multiple definitions of the fringe economy and how profitable the fringe economy is. This chapter also provides information pertaining the involvement of mainstream financial institutions that would have been guessed. It talks about how 22,000 payday lenders extended more than $25 billion in short term loans to millions of struggling households in 2004. Also it went over how 11,000 check cashing stores alone processed 180 million checks, which would equal to about $55 Billion. With payday lenders out numbering other local stores and restaurants it is allowing them to be at every corner in low income neighborhoods making it convenient and pushing banks out of the area. For example, straight out of the book it describes how McDonald s has only 13,500 U.S. restaurants, Burger King has 7624, Target has 1,250 stores, Sears has 1,970, J.C. Penney has about 1,000 locations, and the entire Wal Mart retail chain includes about 3,600 U.S. outlets. All of these combined 29,000 locations are fewer than the nation s 33,000 check cashing and payday lenders, just two sectors of the fringe economy. Today the Chinese population still follows these traditions with a few small exceptions of modern times. All elders are given respect in the Chinese society, those living or deceased. There is a question that still remains in this culture on how to prepare a funeral of unmarried adults and children. No respect is given to a person who died as a bachelor or bachelorette, or if they did not have children. They are not considered an elder and do not have children that prepare the funeral for them. Children are also shown no respect because they do not have anyone to prepare their death ritual. They are left at their funeral home and the family members preform these burials in silence. The children in Chinese families prepare funerals for elders. It is considered proper for the children of the deceased to go into debt in order to pay respect for the older people at the funeral. The body of the dead must be washed with care, dusted with talcum powder, and dressed in the nicest clothes from the personal wardrobe before being placed in the casket for burial. All of the other clothing that belongs to the deceased elder must be burned. The deceased is never dressed in red because it is believed that it will turn the corpse into a ghost. The body is placed on a yellow cloth with the face covered, and then the body is covered with a blue cloth. All statues of deities are covered with red paper and all mirrors are removed from site in the home when preparing the home for the death ritual. The mirror is removed so that no one sees the coffin in the mirror. If someone sees the coffin in the mirror, it is believed that you will have a death within your own family soon. Research ‚Äì Methodology and Ethics RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND ETHICS This essay attempts to identify and sum up two research methods (Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods), assess their relative strengths and weaknesses and explain how two ethical issues arise from research. Qualitative and Quantitative research approaches are two of the various methods used in sociological research. The use of these methods can be very important and can normally produce efficient, realistic and logical results. So what is qualitative research and what is quantitative research? Qualitative research adds flesh and blood to social analysis. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods have some similarities, for instance, whilst quantitative research may be mostly used for testing theory, it can also be used for exploring area and generating hypotheses and theory. Similarly qualitative research can be used for testing hypotheses and theories even though it is mostly used for theory generation. Qualitative data often includes quantification, e.g. statements such as more than, less than, most as well as specific numbers, quantitative, i.e. questionnaire approaches can collect qualitative data through open ended questions. ETHICAL ISSUES IN QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH During the designing of questionnaires and the training of interviewers a number of ethical issues need to be taken into consideration. The Importance Of Word-Net-Use Clustering Performance WordNet In (Bouras and Tsogkas, 2012), the importance of WordNet hypernymy relationships is highlighted in enhancing K means clustering algorithm. Similar to the procedure prior to clustering process, an aggregate hypernym graph is generated to label a resulting cluster. The effect of other relationships, on the clustering performance, is not studied. Another Word Net based clustering method is presented in (Fodeh et al., 2011), where the role of nouns, especially polysemous and synonymous nouns in document clustering is investigated. A subset of core semantic features is chosen from disambiguated nouns through an unsupervised information gain measure. These core semantic features lead to admissible clustering results. • 41. Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Percy Bysshe Shelley And John Keats In Like a Poet three poets will be discussed, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Percy Bysshe Shelley and John Keats. These poets contribute to the society of poetry in distinctive ways. However, they also have some similarities and prove poetry has been around for centuries and will not vanish in the near future. Many may think that poetry is only enjoyed by those that have the ability to think deeply and beyond the normal spectrum of society. Nevertheless, poetry is inspiring, romantic, fascinating, emotional and all around amazing. Poetry, whether it is complex or a few simple lines, has demonstrated to be for all humanity. Samuel Taylor Coleridge whom I will refer to as Coleridge throughout Like a Poet is somewhat complex in his writing. He uses many words that may have to be researched and or read over several times before understand what he is discussing. Coleridge s poem Kubla Khan is a great example of complex poetry with hints of simplicity. In this poem Coleridge describes a place of pleasure that is encased by gloom, for example in Kubla Khan it reads in lines 5 11, Down to a sunless sea. So twice five miles of fertile ground with walls and towers were girdled round: And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills, Where blossomed many an incense bearing tree; and here were forests ancient as the hill, Enfolding sunny spots of greenery.
