Point Nemo Research Paper
So... uh... this is my first post. Please tolerate any amateurism that occurs here.
We ll begin with the farthest point from land (uncovered by water, as the crust is only 4 miles
away) Point Nemo (means no one in Latin, quite suitable, isn t it?) (Coordinates: 48.875485556,

This map always makes me overlook the fact that the Pacific Ocean is vast...
Named after the eponymous captain (he s an Indian prince by the way) from Jules Vernes Twenty
Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Point Nemo is about 2,688.22058 km (1,670.38289 miles) from
any scrap of land. whether it s an atoll, a sandbank

Actually, a shark isn t really suitable for Ducie Island since, well, the Pitcairns aren t famous for
sharks. Although they are of sex offenders... 1/3 of the island s population. Yikes.
Paul Murrell of the University of Auckland revealed that the surface temperature of Point Nemo is
around 5.8 В°C (42 В°F), which disproves Volvo s point. (Well Volvo isn t much of a reliable
source in the first place...)
Fun fact: The word Nemo is carved (well it s clearly photoshopped, but that choice of word isn t
really fascinating) on the ocean floor if you re browsing satellite mode on Google Maps. There s no
Street View, though...

Pros And Cons Of Building A Border Wall
Should the United States build a border wall? Many will procrastinate about this but in the end
there will be an outcome with what will happen as far as building a border wall. There are many
Pros and Cons to this single objective. Starting off with a Pro, Many say this is a racist act or a
sign of weakness coming from our President Donald Trump. But in some cases this is an essential
thing for the United Statesto do. This walltoo many is wrong to do because our media has a big
head on racial point along society today. In the long run a wall could be really beneficial as a
commodity for the security of our great nation.
Jeff Corwin stated that If this border wall actually happens, it will be an environmental
catastrophe. Essentially, what it s doing is cutting through nature s bridge, which connects Central
America to North America and South America. Which in many cases this can be supported but
then again many people work very hard to become a citizen in the United States for many to
come across the border to get here illegally and to most this is unfair. To make another main
statement given the rising global instability in North Korea and the Middle East with a strong and
supportive border it would be harder for terrorist to get their hands on biological, chemical or
radiological weapons. With an insecure border it makes it easier for them to bring them into the
United States and launch a devastating attack on the United States.

The Effects of Heroin Addiction
Heroin is illegal and highly addictive. (Dupont, 1997). It remains as the most common drug
among drug, among all the opiates (Lalander, 2003). The opiate is made from morphine.
Morphine occurs naturally in seed pops of various poppy plants. In most cases, it is sold as a brown
or black sticky powder. Currently, purer forms of heroinare becoming more common in the streets
today (Research Council of Norway, 2013).
Many heroin addicts usually inject or smoke it. On average, a heroin addict may inject three or
four times in a day. The intravenous injection has been associated with the greatest intensity by
heroin users. It is associated with an immense rapid onset of euphoria. When smoked or even
puffed, peak effects are experienced after ten to fifteen minutes. Smoking or even puffing, does not
produce a rush effect (Research Council of Norway, 2013)
The United States survey on drug abuse has identified that, 2.4 million People in the country, had
used heroin at a point in their lives (Research Council of Norway, 2013). 130, 000 of them,
reported that they had used the substance a month before the survey. The report estimates that, in
the year 2012, there were around eighty one new users of heroin in the United States. A large
proportion of the users, were smoking or snorting heroin (Research Council of Norway, 2013).
Eighty seven percent of the users are under the age of twenty one years. The Drug Abuse Warning

Essay on The Presidency of Gerald R. Ford
The Presidency of Gerald R. Ford Gerald R. Ford was the 38th President of the United States,
after gaining the position through extraordinary circumstances. His good will and friendly
demeanor helped him climb the political ladder higher than even he had anticipated. His career
in politics began with his law firm, yet ended up in the oval office. While his presidency was
short lived, it is remembered due to numerous crucial decisions he had to make. After graduating
from Yale with a law degree in 1941, Gerald R. Ford returned to his home town of Grand Rapids
Michigan to start a law firm with his friend Phillip Buchen. He also became active in local politics.
However, less than a year passed before he joined the Navy in 1942 to assist in... Show more

As a matter of fact, his route to the presidency was more circumstantial than intentional. In 1973,
Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned from office due to a kick back scandal ( Gerald R. Ford
Timeline 3). President Richard Nixon then decided to select Ford as the new vice president,
knowing that Ford s reputation in Congress would make him the only candidate both houses and
parties would accept. As the vice president, Ford was not very active. Even more so, he
intentionally chose to stay out of the way; perhaps because he did not want to be associated
with the actions and policies of the Nixon administration. Next, as is popular knowledge,
President Nixon resigned after the Watergate scandal came to light, leaving Ford to become the
President. Gerald R. Ford was sworn in on August 9, 1974, as the United State s 38th president.
In his inauguration speech, Ford was open about the bizarre circumstances that led to him
holding the position. He acknowledged to the people that he was not chosen by them for the job
as President. He continues to say, If you have not chosen me by secret ballot, neither have I
gained office by any secret promises. I have not campaigned either for the Presidency or the Vice
Presidency. I have not subscribed to any partisan platform. He spoke these words to show the
public who were skeptical of all politicians after the Watergate scandal that he could be trusted. He

Technology To Snoop Research Paper
Technology Used to Snoop Technology has advanced at a so fast a pace that the laws used to
protect it citizens don t apply to the way the technology is being used. The Federal, State and local
governments are using technology to snoop on it citizens and it is wrong. The criteria that is used
to measure this invasion are no consent from its citizens to track their movements, searching third
party video cameras without a warrant, criminals using collected material after stealing this material
without citizen permission for personnel gain, and unreasonable intrusion on the seclusion of
citizens. When driving on a toll road or through most intersection in medium to large cities you

goes outside of his dwelling at 4 am in the morning he has a reasonable thought that he will be the

Poll Bias
a sampling or collection of opinions on a subject, taken from either a selected or a random group
of persons, as for the purpose of analysis. Polls are very useful in giving information to the
general public, or larger groups and associations that make the poll. Polls also raise awareness
about the topic, and or to give the public knowledge about the certain topic or question the poll is
asking. Sometimes or at the present time, most of the times polls are twisted and manipulated to
have opinions from only certain people who agree with the poll . This report will break down and
will show in depth all positive and negative aspects of polls.

The meals the day before the event would normally consist of consuming a lot of carbohydrates,
as well as other vitamin, minerals, proteins etc. but mostly carbohydrates, this is also known as
Carbohydrate Loading or just Carb Loading . Carb Loading is essential as all it is, is storing
energy therefore, using it all up for the day after which also makes you last longer, especially
when it s an all day event such as my chosen sport. Carb Loading has been demonstrated to
improve endurance exercise by allowing athletes to exercise at their optimal pace for a longer
time. It is estimated that carb loading can improve your performance over a set distance by 2 3%

your breakfast, about 50% of protein is consumed within scrambled eggs, it also a good source of
riboflavin and selenium and with grilled tomato, it just tops it off with its magnificent taste !
Grilled Tomatoes is very low in saturated fat and cholesterol. It is also a good source of dietary
fibre, vitamin E, vitamin k, thiamine, niacin, vitamin B6, folate, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and
copper, and a very good source of vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium and manganese. By adding these
two foods together, they create a good source of protein intake!

Arthurian Character Of Sir Gawain
I feel like I have analyzed the character of Sir Gawain every time the opportunity arrises in this
class and you are probably getting a little tired on critiquing my analysis over the same character.
Though, relating to Arthurian concepts, it must have been fate or destiny that the Gawain
character would be an option for me to analyze on this final. This sort of fortune to have a
character that I feel I can give a clear and in depth analysis over, just might make this final
examination on an Arthurian character close to perfection . On a more serious note my reasoning
for choosing Sir Gawainwas actually based on looking at the other concepts given as choices to
analyze. I was conflicted on what information I could relate and elaborate on in a 1,000 word
analysis. Then as I was starting to defining each concept, I found a tremendous connection to Sir
Gawain to almost all of them. One might find this sort of association in comparing other knights in
Arthurian literature, but do those knights really have that strong of a connection as Sir Gawain
does? This is the question I started internally debating about and found that the answer is no. This
realization and connection to multiple concepts found in Arthurian literature and Sir Gawain gave
me a perfect argument. In looking at one character throughout Arthurian literature there is no better
example of Arthurian themes and elements that seem to embody only one character through
various stories and poems, that being Sir

Literary Devices In The Game By Donald Barthelme
In every story, there are many things to analyze. In Game by Donald Barthelme, he shows us the
way our minds start to work in stressful situations like how the narrator and Shotwell started to
respond while controlling the console for the war. In Game the narrator s name is never told,
Shotwell and the narrator do not trusteach other, but are left alone together and trusted to kill the
other if they start to behave strangely, although it is never clarified what counts as strange and what
counts as normal. Various literary devices are used throughout the story to show us Barthelme s
intended theme, some used are: repetition, symbolism, irony, and figurative language. Barthelme
uses repetition to show how the narrator s mindis deteriorating while being confined in a small
space, isolated from everyone except someone he does not know, with very little instruction about
what to do. A lot of what the narrator repeats throughout the story are what makes us, as the readers,
believe that his mind is deteriorating. For example, when he repeats that they have been there for
one hundred thirty three days, Barthelme is showing how the narrator is counting the days to keep
himself reminded. Although, it starts to make him question how long he and Shotwell will be in
isolation and it starts to make him think differently about his situation and he starts to realize and
focus on about how they are both unwell. Another way Barthelme uses repetition is when the
readers are

Social, Ethical, And Economic Problems
AD was first identified in 1906, however, research into its causes and treatment only gained
momentum over the past 30 years. Research into AD and the exact physiological changes that
trigger the development of AD still remain unknown. The only exceptions are certain rare,
inherited forms of the disease caused by known genetic mutations. (Dekkers, W., Marcel, O. R.
2006) There are some major links to those who are affected by (AD). The link that connects
family history those who have a parent, or sibling with Alzheimer s are at a greater risk of
developing the disease. (Dekkers, W., Marcel, O. R. 2006) AD is not a usual part of growing
older, however, it is one of the highest risk factor for the disease. Currently, millions of people
are affected by AD worldwide and the number is expected to rise well over 106 million by the
year 2050, this rise will cause serious clinical, social, ethical, and economic problems. (Dekkers,
W., Marcel, O. R. 2006) According to scientific evidence most individuals with AD are age 65 or
older making it the number one cause for Alzheimer s. Developing Alzheimer s increases
radically about every five years after age 65. AD slowly wears away at memory and the ability to
retain new information little by little, your brain begins to degenerate. (Dekkers Marcel 2006) AD
eventually effects the ability to carry out the simplest of tasks. The effects of AD are different in
every patient but, the most common symptom begins slowly and

Sex Education Should Be Taught At School
Sex education can be traced back to the beginning of the 20th century. Chicago s public schools
introduced the Nation s first formal sex education program which has raised controversy throughout
the years. Many believe that talking about sex in the classroom raises the initiation of such
behavior. Others believe that ignoring the subject keeps teens in the dark which leads them to make
unsafe decisions when they become sexually active. Whether it is at school or at home, teens must
be taught about the dangers of unprotected sex as well as abstinence. Being unaware of protection
puts teens at risk of becoming pregnant or contracting an STD or STI. Sex educationmust be taught
at school and it must be taught right, without lies or myths and without giving teens the idea that
the only perfect time for them to become sexually active is when they are married. If sex education
was taught at school instead of abstinence only education, it would help young adults make correct
decisions when becoming sexually active as well as helping them make wise choices that can affect
their future.
From the beginning of the 1900 s, sex education became a topic that till this day will raise
controversy. As it started to be introduced in more schools, conservative groups began protesting to
ban sex education. They believed children should not be taught such behavior since it was a topic
that should be discussed at home; at a parent s choice. When the 1980 s AIDS epidemic began, these

Space Race And The Space Race
When the United States of America was founded, no one knew how the American experiment
would develop. Over the centuries, the United States would face many trying challenges,
continually dipping into the patriotic ideals the country was founded on. Motivation to remain
aligned with its ideological foundation of life, liberty, and happiness became the American way,
turning into an attempt at stability in a shifting world. Majority of the time, the nation lacked unity,
such as the Antebellum period preceding the sectional Civil War. One result of such dividing
conflicts facing America was its increasing ability to adapt. America needed to learn how to fight in
World War I, and how to stand up against unprecedented powers in World War II. It needed to
remain unified as the world around it crumbled, usually taking the form of its rooted patriotism,
rather than genuine interpersonal community. As the military department was called on for aid
during the wars, warfare technology was greatly advanced. With such expansion, came conflict. The
Soviet Unionand The United Stateswere newly recognized as the world s super powers with the
fall of Nazi Germany, the pair being equally defensive and opinionated bodies standing for
opposing ideals. They fought to prove them self the superior nation, unable to satisfy the indignant
competition, which was feeding into all fields of governing. Most famously, the two bodies tumbled
along the Space Race, a movement to one up each other in the

The Book Of Esther In The Hebrew Bible
The book of Esther appears in the Hebrew Bible as one of five scrolls that is read on festivals or
commemorative days of the Jewish year. Esther is the story of the deliverance of the Jews from
destruction and persecution from King Ahasuerus official named Haman. In this story, Esther
shows great courage and devotion to her Jewish people, and even risks her own safety to help
defend them against the wrongdoings of Haman. This story interests me most because it is a
story about a woman s courage and strength that saved her people. When King Ahasuerus wife,
Queen Vashti, refused the king s orders to appear before him in court to show the people and the
officials her beauty, King Ahasuerus was enraged by her disobedience. The king s officials
informed him that this disobedience set an example for the wives of the officials, and that they too
would disobey if the king did not write a law stating that Queen Vashti could never again come
before the king, and that her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Good Man Is Hard To Find Literary Analysis
A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Conner shows the battle of society vs. class. The
grandmother in A Good Man is hard to find gives great importance to being a lady, and her ideas
about what that means reflect an old fashioned, Southern mindset. She uses the n word and
longs for the good old days when kids were polite, people were trustworthy. All of this leads her
to associate being good with coming from a respectable family and behaving like a member of
her social class; those who don t are outsiders. All of this is put to the test when she meets The
Misfit. Society vs. Class shows that everyone is truly equal and at the end of the day social class
doesn t make a difference. O Conner shows this through her use of Tone and Characterization
throughout the story. The grandmother is representative of godliness and Christianity which O
Connor apparently believed to be more prevalent in the 1950 s down south. the grandmother had
on a navy blue straw sailor hat with a bunch of white violets on the brim and a navy blue dress
with a small white dot in the print. Her collar and cuffs were white organdy trimmed with lace, and

Theology of Grace
Theology of Grace There are many different ways to interpret the theology of grace. In this paper,
I will be discussing four major theologians who have the most popular insights on grace. These
theologians include Augustine, Aquinas, Luther, and Rahner who all have their own unique
perspective on grace. All of their theories seem to intertwine with one another but each individual
one has a different twist that makes them slightly different. The first theologian I m going to
discuss is Augustine. Augustine was known as the Father of Grace. He believed that all human
nature is in disorder due to universal sin of Adam and Eve. According to Augustine, sin is passed
on by sexual acts, even if a married couple engaged in sexual... Show more content on

He thought that grace is forgiveness of god in which salvation comes through God. Trust of God
was expressed in God s merciful love. Luther believed that a merciful god would deliver anyone
from the evil they did. Only by the grace of God can forgiveness of sin be achieved. Even after
you are graced, you are still partly a sinner. He believed that you could not merit grace and could
not learn grace through works, it is all given. Grace is totally undeserved and only through God
s choice can you be graced. Lastly is Rahner, who was a Neo Thomist and a student of Aquinas.
Rahner believed in the supernatural existential and obediential potency meaning that as we re
born we have the ability and capacity to receive the love of God. He said that grace was God s
self communication in love. Also, grace is not an extra addition to human nature. Karl Rahner
developed a theology that views grace as the offer of God s love that is intrinsic to existent
human nature (pg. 1). He believed that you can either accept or reject the honor of grace.
According to Rahner, human beings freely choose to ratify or to reject that orientation which is
itself the free gift of a loving God, but the orientation remains structured into their being (pg. 2).
You re only free when you love. If you decide to love then you are authentic but if you decide not
to love then you are disgraced. Rahner believed that like God, we can know and can

The Pros And Cons Of The Ivy League
The Ivy League is a group of eight private universities located in the Northeastern region of the
United States. The Ivy League has general connotations of academic excellence and elitism,
including universities like Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. They are viewed as the most eminent, and
ranked among the finest universities in the world, especially in business, law, and medicine. Each
school receives millions in research grants and other subsidies from federal and state governments,
and universities like Harvard have over $34 billion in endowment funds. With small enrollment
rates, that amounts to a lot of money per student. This allows the Ivy League universities to afford
the resources needed for their academic programs and research endeavors. The Ivy League schools
are highly selective, with low acceptance... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This disadvantages bright students who lack upper class resources. Lower class students tend to
make poorly informed, random, or impulse decisions about college: where to go, how to get in, and
what college is about. Given the unlikelihood that their parents have never set foot on a college
campus, academically promising lower class students can become overwhelmed during the
application process. If these students are looking towards applying to top universities like the
Ivy League, they are competing against groomed upper class kids who know how to write
application essays by parents, high school counselors, and professionals paid for by their parents.
Low class students find themselves ignorant about admission requirements, costs of college and
possibilities of financial aid, and how to apply. Most didn t know what to major in to relate to

Essay On The Paradox Of The Reformation
The Paradox of the Reformation in Ireland: Why it is Essential in Spite of its Failure
1.Introduction While the Protestant Reformation was a movement that was influenced, and even
caused by events prior to 1517; a domino effect was unleashed when, on October 31, 1517, a
young German monk named Martin Luther nailed his work, The Ninety Five Theses, to the door of
All Saints Church in Wittenberg, Germany. Although Luther had never intended it to do so; his
exploit acted as a catalyst for what was a nearly perfect formula for this reformation to ensue. In the
years following that night; what started out as an intended scholarly objection, led to disputes, and
disputes to rebellion, and eventually, those rebellions into what could be categorized... Show more

Edward VI sought to continue to reform but now he did so in the form of new religious policies.
These attempts were futile, short lived, and overshadowed by Edward s short reign and his half
sister Mary s rise to the throne and actions as queen. On her succession, Roman Catholic worship
was reinstated not only in Ireland but in Great Britain as well. This however did also not last
long as Mary passed away five years after ascending to the throne at which point in time her sister
Elizabeth took her place. Elizabeth immediately reverted to the ways of her late brother and father,
as she was Protestant. When she came to the throne, Elizabeth had the Act of Supremacy and Act of
Uniformity sent through parliament they both passed. The former was an act that her father had
passed in order to gain authority of the church. She had to replace it because it was repealed by her
sister Mary while she was Queen. The latter made attendance at church mandatory and established
fines for missing. From that point forward the Church of Ireland, the Anglican church, was the
established church of Ireland; this irritated much of the population because they were not a part of
the privileged minority of the established

The Reform Movement Of Rural Canada During The Nineteenth...
The search for reform in rural Canada during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries reveals a deep
connection between educational movements and social reform. The readings for the first three
weeks of this course have provided an overview of how social reformers during this period were
keen to promote an urban and modern orientation to direct social reformmovements in rural
Canada. Often, this perspective came into conflict with the needs of the rural society at the time.
Therefore, the widespread discontent within the rural society was illustrated through the various
efforts of social reform in Canada during the 1860s 1960s.
The first set of readings of this course outline the ways in which the hopes of the social reformers
were to promote reform based on an urban and modern orientation through movements in
agriculture, social welfare, and education. In doing so, the social reformers encouraged three kinds
of developments: i) the promotion of an urban orientation through the reform of agricultural
education, ii) the promotion reform through social legislation, and finally iii) the promotion of
reform in rural education to progressive systems of education. Although the reformers saw the
promotion of progressivism as a solution to the various problems within the rural society, the
widespread discontent from the rural society depicted the ways in which the needs of the urbanites
and the rural society came into conflict.
I will explore the ways in which the

Similarities Between Matthew And The Gospel Of John
The Gospels are essential texts of the Christian faith as they chronical the life of Jesus Christ. And
yet they are surrounded by controversies because they seem to conflict each other. But, in the case
of the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of John, this concern is truly misplaced. Looking closer at
the texts shows that they are not entirely dissimilar. Both texts are based in tradition and their
relation to Jesus. The texts come from the same founding idea but the difference lies in their uses of
tradition to convey different messages to the audience. The Gospelof Matthew uses tradition to
provide legitimacy to Jesus and paint him as a continuation of tradition, whereas the Gospel of
John alludes to traditional ideas to show Jesus as a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to Matthew, John makes this obvious from the opening verse of the gospel in which he
rewrites the creation myth from the beginning of Genesis. Where Genesis states that In the
beginning God created earth (Genesis 1:1), the Gospel of John changes the text to say that in
the beginning the was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1).
There is no longer just God, there is the Word, or Jesus, and the reader is forced to now think
about the world in this way. Instead of bridging the gap between the Hebrew Bible and Jesus,
John chooses to changing the words and thus change the way the faith is thought about. John
rewrites tradition through Jesus and attempts to create a change in the way the faith works.
During the crucifixion of Jesus, John continues to allude to the Jewish tradition with subtle
changes to past ideas. When on the cross, a thirsty Jesus is given a drink from a sponge full of
vinegar on a hyssop (John 19:29). The reed of hyssop, though it could not have actually held a
sponge, it s meant to remind the audience of the tradition of using hyssop to spread blood on
your door during Passover. And after his death, John refers to the fulfillment of prophecy in
19:36, where scripture said that not a bone of him shall be broken. Subsequently, Jesus is
pierced by the spear of a soldier and there came out blood and water (John 19:34). All of these
examples allude to the tradition of Passover. These references, however, were originally about the
sacrificial lamb to be slaughtered for use on the sacred holiday. John takes this traditional idea and
changes it, using the idea in reference to Jesus. Both the cleansing blood and water that fall from
Jesus and the bones that are not be broken are meant to liken Jesus to the sacrificial lamb that
saves the Jews. John leads the audience to believe that it is no

White Collar Crime Is Now Becoming More Widely
Introduction
In today s society, white collar crime is now becoming more widely known because of the
advancement of technological devices and brilliant minds. In fact, over 730,000 counts of
suspected financial wrongoing were recorded in America last year, according to recent data from
the Treasury Department s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (The Economist, 2009).
White Collar Crime is a term reportedly coined in 1939 is now synonymous with the full range
of frauds committed by business and government professionals including one of the many called
Check Kiting (FBI, 2010). White collar crime is described by the federal bureau investigation
(FBI) in three words: Lying, cheating, and stealing which is exactly the kind of people that Scott
in this case analysis has to deal with. In this case, the Operations Manager, Scott at a small bank
has the duties of overseeing transactions and defining clients who use bad checks. While going
through the daily routine, he finds that his wife s friend, who is the chief financial officer of the
bank, appears to be involved in check kiting. According to the business dictionary, check Kiting is a
form of check fraud, in which checks are issued against funds that a bank has credited into an
account for deposited, uncleared checks. With careful timing of deposits and withdrawals, this
scam can be turned into a large sum. Furthermore, In addition to knowing the suspect, Scott also is

The Luke Bryan
The contribution to music demonstrated by the career of Luke Bryan proves beyond a doubt that
the country music singer should be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. His worthiness
of this award is shown in his, charity work, the awards he has won and all the achievements he has
made, and everyone who has inspired him to become a country musicsinger in the first place.
Bryan would not be where he is today with the support of his wife and 2 kids. Bryan s parents
are peanut farmers and he used to help them when he was in high school. His brother died in a
car accident 2 years ago and Bryan and his sister went through a tuff time when that happened.
Luke Bryan was born July 17, 1976 in Leesburg, Georgia. Bryan got his first guitar at the age of
fourteen and by the age of fifteen he was able to entertain a small crowd. It was all uphill from
there. ( Luke Bryan Biography. )
The most important reason Luke Bryan should be inducted into the Country Music Hall of
Fame is because of his charity work. He has put together millions of concerts and tours for
people with special needs. Bryan has donated a great deal of money to children s hospitals to
help buy more supplies and medicine for the patients (Finan). He played in one of Deirk Bently s
concerts and earned money for children s special needs camp: (Kaylor 1 1). He loves doing charity
concerts and performing at children s hospitals to raise money for them.

The Impact Of Sexualization Of Women In Advertising
Women have always faced oppression and unequal rights. In the early 1800s, women were treated
as slaves and their purpose was to please the men in their lives (Smith, 2002). In the 1930s,
Kellogg released an advertisement stating, so the harder a wife works, the cuter she looks! which
sexualized women for their husband s enjoyment (Heilpern, 2016). One would think over seven
decades things would change, but unfortunately, similarities from both the 1800s and the 1930s are
still present today. These similarities are present in advertisingtoday as women are sexualized and
demoralized for men s enjoyment. Portraying women as objects to satisfy men s needs contributes
to a decreased view of women in society and for the female population... Show more content on

Denbeau (2011, p. 55) highlights a study that looked at the progression of exploitation of women in
advertising between 1983 and 2003. There was a substantial increase in the sexualization of women
throughout this period and they hypothesized that by 2013 this would increase again (Denbeau,
2011, p. 55). Looking at advertisements between 2003 and 2013, one could say that their
hypothesis was correct and their study findings are valid that overtime advertising will continue to
sexualize women more explicitly.
How Companies Get Away with Sexualization in Advertising At the turn of the 20th century, gender
stereotyping women in advertising became a popular marketing technique. As previously outlined,
the stereotyping and sexualization of women continued into the 21st century and is stronger than
ever. But how can companies continue with the blatant sexualization and victimization of women
for over a century? By incorporating humour into advertising, people often overlook the sexism
presented in the advertisement. Peters, Holmgreen, and Oswald (2015, p. 162) highlight that by
mixing humour and sexist material together in advertisements, the intention is to evoke benign
laughter , not to promote prejudice . Humour takes on a role in advertisements to pull consumer s
attention away from the derogatory and demoralizing content depicted. A façade has been created

The Goals And Philosophy Of Art
Goals and Philosophy:
Visual Merchandisers have many employment options available in many different sectors. I
believe that displays are all encompassing. It is the little details that culminate a theme or feel
that makes customers want to shop at a particular store and have a certain type of experience
depending on who they are. It is all about making an environment whether a store, a party, a
home, etc. as inviting and welcoming as possible. I strongly believe that there is so much
inspiration out there that can be used to create compelling store displays that provoke consumers
to shop and help maximize a store s profits. This is an interesting field where not only are artistic
skills necessary, but also the ability to merchandise the sales floor and make every visual aspect of
a store experience enjoyable.
My art is inspired by popular culture, the work of other artists in similar fields, and the work of
surrealist artists. The prospect of being able to have a job that comprises of creativity and a
unique perspective motivates me to pursue a career in art and design. I want to be able to have a
job that I feel is rewarding and where each day is somewhat different from the next which is
possible with visual merchandising because retail is always changing visually to keep up with trends
and seasons.
In the short term I hope to get a visual merchandising internship or job where I can get more

Youth Incarceration Research Paper
The Incarceration of Juveniles It is estimated that on any given day there are 80,000 youth
incarcerated in the United States, which is more than any other developed country in the
world(Townes, 1). Incarcerating youth before exploring other options is a social injustice. Judges
rather give short term solutions than permanently fix the problem. To understand why this is a
social injustice, four pieces of information must be known: the causes, who it affects and how,
who s responsible, and solutions in place. Incarcerating youth affects them in many different ways.
One way is the psychiatric damage prisons cause. Being in prison means that the child is not able
to be with their family and community, which can lead to feelings of loneliness and depression.
Studies show that incarcerated youth die from suicide at a rate two to three times more than non
incarcerated youths (Polish,1). In addition to mental health effects, incarceration at a young age
affects the person s future by lowering their chances of finding a job. When sentenced to a
correctional facility, the child s education is stopped and they become 38 times more likely to
become a repeat offender(Koehler,1). With no education and a... Show more content on

identical surgeries with the exception that the SHAM mice did not have their carotid arteries

tests included open field tests, elevated zero maze, y maze, object location tests, forced swim tests,
histology and immunohistochemistry tests, quantitative analysis, nissl and kluver barrera staining,

difference in results that it can be concluded from this study that CBD does help with symptoms of
brain ischemia. It was shown that short term CBD treatment following occlusion of the carotid

A Short Note On The And Chemical Spill
1.A. Eye wash is used in the case of a chemical splash to the eyes. According to the lab
information, if a person gets chemicals in his or her eyes, that person should begin to flush their
eyes with water for 15 30 minutes. The best way to accomplish flushing the eyes is to flush
outward. B. Fire blankets can be used in the laboratory to extinguish small fires, or protect
oneself in the case of a fire. One should not attempt to extinguish a large fire with a fire blanket,
but should evacuate the area immediately. C. Safety showers are used if there is a chemical spill
or fire. In this case, the person affected should stand under the shower for a minimum of 15 30
minutes. This is done to effectively flood the body of harmful substances. D. Chemical spill kits
contain items that should be used incase of chemical spills. For example, if an acidic chemical
is spilled, then a base will be used to neutralize that chemical. Chemical spill kits are meant for
surfaces not skin. E. Biological spill solution includes a 10% bleach solution. This is used to
disinfect working areas. This solution should definitely be used when working with organisms
that can cause disease. Individuals working with such organisms should protect and cover his or

Binary Trading And Binary Derivatives
In this paper, you will learn about binary Trading. I will discuss what is binary trading, and how it
s done. How it differs from regular stock market trading. The technological aspect of it. Then lastly
where it s at now.
Binary Trading is the trading of Binary Options. Binary Options are a type option where the payoff
depends on both the price levels of the strike and the underlying asset, like standard options. If you
have a Binary Option contract you are saying that the market price of the item you are investing
in is higher than the strike price, and the market price does go above the strike price. Then you are
in the money or True . The buyer of the contract would receive a fixed payout amount per contract.

Binary Options are so much different than day trading on the stock market. It offers flexibility. The
three primary differences are expiration time, payout, and how it is executed.
First , the expiration time is a big difference. Binary options can be made to be short term as short
as a one hour expiration time. This means that with multiple expiration times investors can make an
instant profit on their binary options and can become more flexible in their option investments. The
expiration times can be weekly, monthly,or even longer terms.
Secondly, the payouts are different than day trading. With regular day trading, an investor pays
per contract. Subsequently, the investor will profit or lose an amount depending on the number
of points difference between the expiration level and the strike price. In binary options the win or
lose outcome is set ahead of time. The investor knows how much he or she is going to win or lose
before they enter the trade. This can be a serious edge in regular day trading.
Third, expiration is different between binary options and regular day trading. The investor has to
hold onto his binary option until the agreed upon expiration time. This means that when looking
and purchasing options contracts he cannot sell them once they are purchased. Although there are
some brokers who do allow the selling of contracts once they have been purchased.

Food Is Cheap, At Least Compared With 4 Years Ago By Dan...
Summary The article that I did was Food is Cheap, At Least compared with 4 years ago by Dan
Charles. This article is about how the global food price index is going down, and has fallen to its
lowest level in the last four years. It is saying that a lot of different foods are getting cheaper like
grains, vegetable oils, sugar, and dairy products. So that means that CPI should decrease now
since a family will be spending less money on those products. The only place where the prices are
not falling is in the meatindustry especially in the beef industry. That is because the supply for
beef was decreased after a drought made the suppliers want to decrease the size of the herd. That
in turn caused the producers of the beef to have expectations that the future was going to be
bleak for them. So they decided to not spend as much in their planned investments. Now because
of these past decisions; when the market rebounded it the supply was down. Another plus in the
market that is currently happening in the U.S. right now is that the food industry is having
harvests of corn and soybean that will break the records in the overall production and yield per
acre. This has caused the grain prices to fall by almost half. This makes the producers of pork,
poultry, and beef very happy. Their PPI has gone down, so they are getting their things that they
need to feed their animals cheaply. Then they are selling their animals at a very high rate, higher
than normal

Community Immersion Analysis On Community
Introduction
The definition of Community, Netting, Kettner, McMurty and Thomas (2012) stated by Warren
(1978) Community is the combination of social units and systems that perform the major social
functions relevant to meeting people s needs on a local level. (p.133). Understanding communities
is important to social workers as they have, Netting et al (2012) to know individuals functions
within larger systems, understanding of its history and that communities constantly change (p.
168). A community has many parts that make it work together; when one part is not working well,
it affects the entire system. Social Workers are able to analyze, interpret data and work with
community groups and leaders to find solutions to improve the workings of that community to its
full potential.
This community immersion analysis will focus on its community s social agencies, diversity and
cultural richness. Systems Theory applies to this area as the macro system of this community s
main downtown street is filled with stores, restaurants, cultural establishments where locals as well
as tourist convene (Netting, 2012) that carries out production as well as school and religious sites
work to socialize community members. (P.140)

still showing emotion towards his audience, Roth makes sure to have reliable credentials and logic

He knows everyone in life struggles. He simply is encouraging the reader to stop finding excuses
and continue improving themselves by stop handing out excuses and reasons. A wise man once
wrote You can t do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its
width and depth. Evan Esar. Justifications in life simply set one back from becoming great; which
is what Roth does a stellar job explaining it in this chapter. Roth s appeal of pathos initially rubs
the reader to be a little angrier, seeing that he believes that every reason is just an excuse. However,
it s the disciplinarian theory he is using to do two things. One, it wakes up the reader and grabs
their attention and two, to make the reader think and question the excuses or reasons they have
been dealing with in their personal life. Everyone needs a reason to do anything, but there s no logic
behind every reason. The reason behind going to the grocery store, is to buy food so one doesn
t starve in the middle of the week. The reason behind a person going to the hair salon is to feel
better about their personal image. The reason of going to the gas station is to fuel up a car with
gasoline. Roth agrees with reasons controlling everything by saying Our society loves reasons.
Perhaps the illusions that there is a single known reason for each thing we do is comforting. (Roth

Interview Summary Of Peter Holloway s On Virtual...
Interview summary for Peter Holloway, conducted on October 8, 2015 by Anita Sommer for the IRI
Virtual Experimentation and Simulation project.
Peter Holloway is a Systems Engineer with Rolls Royce Limited. He leads a team of simulation
tool developers that code, refine, and integrate existing modeling tools that are used in the
preliminary design phases of their jet engines. The preliminary design stages involve identifying
candidate engine architectures, preparing proposals, and presenting proposals to customers such as
Boeing and Airbus. Peter has been involved in simulation for about ten years in a number of
different companies and at various levels. His team consists mostly of domain experts that have lent
themselves to programming, with between three and five years of systems design experience.
Rolls Royce has a culture of allowing its engineering staff to develop experimentation and
simulation tools within their domain of expertise. Often however, these domain experts are not
experienced programmers and the tools the engineers develop are used by only a few people within
that domain. Peters team takes these tools, improves the code, making the tools more robust, and
most importantly from a simulation point of view, making the different tools talk to each other in
whole system simulation software.
Rolls Royce Ltd. uses virtual experimentation and simulation on both their products and processes
because it helps the company meet cost and time objectives when delivering

Abolishing Death Penalty
The future of the death penalty lies unclear in the cross country battle over whether or not it should
be abolished. The death penalty should in fact be abolished because of the extreme costs and
painful time involved to house and execute inmates, the indecision of which method of execution is
the most humane, and the increasing number of innocent inmates being wrongfully executed.
The number of death sentences peaked at about 315 in 1996, but last year dropped to only 73. In
addition, the number of prisoners on death row dropped 17% from 3,593 in 2000, to 3,000 in

is that no states are seeking to reinforce the death penalty. For example, California houses 25% of
the nation s 3,000 death row prisoners and the $137 million dollars the state spends on maintaining
capital punishment has led to the states disliking. One aspect of capital punishment that has
displeased average American citizens is all the attention on death row prisoners, making rock stars
out of killers. Many believe the money and attention should be spent on more serious issues like
disease or poverty or even on the struggling families of the victims. However, the crime rate jumped
122% from 1963 to 1980, and maybe that is why capital punishment is needed. The fear of being
executed will diminish the amount of murders and crimes in the country, and that if we protect
guilty lives then innocent lives will be given up in exchange. But by reinforcing the death
penalty, innocents could be wrongly executed. Take for example Anthony Ray Hinton. Hinton
spent 30 years on Alabama s death row after being convicted for two murders at age 29. But due
to a defense lawyer s mistakes in 1985, he was granted a new hearing and was found innocent.
After being freed he said, I spent 30 years on death row for something I didn t do. This supports
my argument in that if all this time and money is spent on protecting the death penalty to come to a
clear verdict, than there should never be a wrong conviction. The risk of wrongful convictions is
greater if the

Barrier Lab Report
Abstract This paper describes a process in which olives were preserved in acidic brine and then
exposed to an overpressure of oxygen. This experiment determined that after being exposed for one
to three days that the fruit no longer had a bitter taste. It is thought that this is due to the oxidation
of the phenolic compounds contained within the olives. It was shown that this correlated with a
decrease in the amount of bound glucoside oleuropein found within the samples. Several variables
were tested such as the overpressure level, concentration of oxygen, and temperature. The results
show that this new method of olivedebittering could be a viable treatment of commercially
produced olives while also producing less waste and increasing yields... Show more content on

When exposed to open air for five days at various temperatures (20 and 40 degree Celsius) the
bitterness remained. However, the bitterness was completely absent in fruits treated with an
overpressure of oxygen. It was shown that the rate of debittering was dependent on the
concentration of oxygen. As the concentration of oxygen was increased, the faster the oxidation
occurred throughout the entire fruit. The rate was also faster in samples treated with pure oxygen
rather than pressurized air as seen in Figure 3. Temperature did not affect the rate of the debittering
process in samples treated with pure oxygen but cut the time of the reaction in half in samples
using air. It was found that fruits that underwent oxidation reaction under overpressured conditions
showed a significant decrease in the compounds associated with olive bitterness such as
hydroxytyrosol (bound) and oleuropein as highlighted by Table 1. To confirm this HPLC
chromatograms (Figure 4) were used to show the decrease and/or absence of the bitterness
compounds. In the chromatogram you can see a clear absence of both oleuropein and
hydroxytyrosol in the treated juice and oil. This means the oxidation occurred and did in fact
eliminate the target compounds. The oxidation reaction occurs at the two alcohol groups attached
to the bound hydroxytyrosol group converting them to keto groups as shown in Figure 2. The simple

Why I Am A Psychologist, The State Of Kentucky One Must...
Licensure Paper I have wanted to be a psychologist most of my life. In order to become a
licensed psychologist in the State of Kentucky one must first obtain licensure. According to The
Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology (2007) the Kentucky Revised Statutes, KRS
319.005 states that no one by law is allowed to use the title of psychologist, practice as a
psychologist, or in any way cause others to believe that they possess credentials to do so, unless
they have been licensed by the board.
Since I am not one for breaking the law I decided to pursue my goal of becoming a psychologist
and go to college. After graduating with my B.S. in Psychology from the University of Phoenix I
decided to find what it was going to take to become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I decided I needed to talk to someone.
I contacted Robin Vick, who was at that time the Board Administrator, via email on September 4,
2012. I told her I was interested in becoming a licensed psychologist and looking into schools. I
wanted to know what type of curriculum and accreditation the school need to have in order for me
to apply for licensure. On October 8, 2012 she responded to me via email with the following
information.
The Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology is frequently asked ... (about) requirements for
licensure. 201 KAR 26:200 ... defines terms used by the Board of Examiners of Psychologists for
meeting educational requirements for licensure as a licensed psychologist.
Section 2 of this regulation states in part:
Section 2. (1) In determining the acceptability of curricular experiences and course work, the
following factors shall be considered:
(a) The curriculum shall encompass a minimum of three (3) academic years of full time graduate
study.
(b) A minimum of one (1) full academic year shall be spent in residence at the institution.
The minimum of one full academic year shall be spent in residence at the institution requires the
candidate to have spent one year minimum on a physical campus, with physical classrooms, where
students actually share the same space. (R. Vick, personal communication, October 8, 2012)
In a later email I asked Mrs. Vick about accreditation. She informed me that to apply for

Red Tape Lord Of The Flies Quote Analysis
Lord of the Flies Red Tape All this I meant to say. Now I ve said it. You voted me for chief. Now
you do what I say. (Golding 73) When the boys became aware that they were stranded on an
island that had no adults, rules, or order they decided to recreate a similar society they were
living in by appointing Ralph leader simply because he was the one who blew the conch and
was the most handsome out of all of them. Later we see how the democracy they chose to mimic
doesn t quite work out for all of the boys on the island. I believe that Golding made this a young
adult novel to show us that the boys, as young as they are and the innocence we associate them
with, know more than we give them credit for. After figuring out they were on an island that had
no adults in sight the boys decided, just like in the society they live in, without teamwork and
cooperation staying alive might not be possible. They were able to carry out a government of their
own by appointing Ralph leader and setting some rules... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The face paint symbolized that they were putting on a mask of some sort to hide their guilt of
what they were doing, which made it easy for them to continue their violent primitive ways

When Ralph s group is discussing going with Jack s they say, Then we must go as we are, said
Ralph, and they won t be any better. Eric made a detaining gesture. But they ll be painted! You
know how it is. (Golding 152) The others nodded. They understood only too well the liberation into
savagery that the concealing paint brought. By the boys not giving into changing their appearance
by adding paint to their faces they are showing that they maintain their commitment to Ralph s
civilized society and stick to their

Tariff and Non-Tariff Barriers
International Trade is the branch of economics concerned with the exchange of goods and services
with foreign countries. In the context of globalization, International trade has become an even more
important topic now that so many countries have begun to move from state run to market driven
economies. Tariffand non tariff barriers play a large part in this process.
Tariff Barriers
Tariffs are among the oldest forms of government economic intervention. They are most commonly
used as taxes on imports into a country or region. They are put into practice for two clear economic
purposes. They provide revenue for the government and they improve economic returns to firms
and suppliers to domestic industries that face competition from foreign ... Show more content on

Two common examples are quotas and counter trade, which even though they are considered non
tariff barriers, have the same effect as a tariff, but are only imposed in specific circumstances. Some
non tariff trade barriers are explicitly permitted in very limited circumstances, when they are
deemed necessary to protect health, safety, or sanitation, or to protect natural resources.
Non tariff barriers to trade can be:
* State subsidies, procurement, trading, and ownership.
* National regulations on health, safety, employment.
* Product classification.
* Quotas.
* Foreign Exchange: controls and multiplicity.
* Over elaborate or inadequate infrastructure.
* Buy national policy.
* Intellectual property laws (patents and copyrights).
* Bribery and corruption.
* Unfair customs procedures. (Wikipedia.com, 2005B)
Globalization
A critical shift is occurring in the world economy. The world is moving quickly away from a world
in which national economies are mostly reliant on goods from within their own country; stay
isolated from each other by barriers trade across national borders, and by national differences in
government regulation, culture, and business systems. It is moving toward a world where barriers
to trade across national borders are dropping, perceived distance is shrinking due to advances in
transportation and telecommunications technology, and national economies are

The Effects on theThe Use of Water for the Production of...
Water, over half the planet is covered in this miraculous molecular compound. Water provides us
with necessary hydration for our bodies, gives us means to grow crops and raise animals, it acts
as a highway for boats and barges, and through water, humanity has thrived. The recipe for water
is a relatively simple one, all you need is to combine one part oxygen and two part hydrogen and
suddenly you have the key to life on earth. Water is arguably the most valuable resource that exists
on planet earth and yet, it is quickly slipping out of our reach. Water covers over seventy percent
of earth s surface, but only about three percent of that water is available for human use as
freshwater. The main source of freshwater is permanent ice sheets,... Show more content on

Ethanol made its debut in the early 1970s, and by the late 1980s, ethanol was beginning to be
used for fueling cars (Fuel testers, 2012). Now in the midst of the green movement of the 2000s,
ethanol can be found in over 90 percent of gasoline at public gas stations (Fuel testers, 2012).
This technology is being pushed to new extremes as it strives toward its goal of replacing
gasoline as our main fuel source. Ethanol promises us less gas emissions, less dependence on
foreign oil, and prolonged use of a healthier environment. This happy picture ethanol has painted,
however, might be too good to be true. As the demand for ethanol rises, the demand for corn
grown by American farmers also rises. As the demand for corn rises, the water necessary to
irrigate those crops also rises. As water use rises, our water supply diminishes. At first glance,
ethanol as a new fuel supply appeared to be the answer to all of our problems, but now
Americans need to reconsider this corn grown miracle. First and foremost, the water to ethanol
payoff is shockingly low. Fully irrigated, corn takes up to 1,200 gallons of water to produce one
gallon of ethanol (Bio Energy, 2013). To create a little over two gallons of ethanol, farmers need
to grow one bushel of corn, which consumes over 3,172 gallons of water (Bio Energy, 2013). This
ratio has become a burden on watersheds, which are being drained at a record rate to irrigate when
rain is little

My Story Short Story
My story Beginnings First of all I was born in Peoria, IL November 11, 2004 we have 6 people in
my family, my brother Michael my two sisters Erica and Rebecca and my parents Mike and Judy. I
have a funny story when my brother michael was born, my dad drove down a one way street.
Anyway back to my story growing up I loved baseball and any sports I could play really. I was
really active as a child and would get my hands on anything I could even If that means pulling a
100 dollar bill out of my mom s purse. Growing up I didn t really like school that much I really just
wanted to explore or play. But I am really glad I went to kindergarten because if I didn t I wouldn t
of met a lot of my friends. But then came 1st grade I didn t really expect 1st grade to be fun but
surprising it really was. 2nd and 3rd grade was probably the most fun. Because we got to do a to of
parties and it was super fun. And even in 4th grade we go to do a pilgrim experience which was
really fun. We got to bring our own snacks which was awesome but the only thing that was not
good was for the boys we had to wear a dress up shirt which was really hot in the room. And another
awesome thing we got to do in grade school was go on really cool field trips. Like tanners orchard
and lincoln s old house. But from 4th grade to 5th grade was really weird because there was a
bunch of people who I didn t know. And for the

Research Paper On Taoism
Immortality does not mean living forever in the present physical body. In Taoism, death is just the
final step in achieving complete unity with the universe when Taoist draws closer and closer to
nature throughout their life. Taoism has a goal to raise the immortal practise to a higher level
which is spiritual immortality. To attain it, people have to transform all their qi into primordial qi
and proceed to refine it to subtler levels. This finer qi will eventually turn into pure spirit, with
which practitioners increasingly identify to become transcendent spirit people. To achieve this,
intensive meditation and trance training as well as more radical forms of diet and other longevity
practices are needed. Immortality implies the overcoming of the natural tendencies of the body and
its transformation into a different kind of qi constellation. It is a bypassing of death so that the end
of the body has no impact on the continuation of the spirit person. In addition, practitioners attain
super sensory powers and eventually gain residence in wondrous otherworldly paradises (Kohn
2005).
Taoism is a polytheist religion. Taoists believes that the universe is divided into human being and
gods. The latter is further divided into gods and ghosts. Each kind of god has ... Show more content

Some are holy men. Others occupy rivers, streams and mountains. Each God Most has specific
powers and abilities to grant wishes in particular areas of expertise. Taoists who need something
pray to the appropriate deity in special shrines called departments or halls in Taoist temples.
(Hays, 2016) Most Taoist gods are associated with a spot in the external world and a
corresponding spot on the inside of man and often have a role in preventing disease. The position
of Taoist deities in a large pantheon often mirrors those of secular officials in a bureaucracy. Many
Chinese cities these days have a temple dedicated to the City God, the heavenly equivalent of a

Customization Of Firearms
From what I ve gathered out of this article is simply the following: Customization isn t
something that can only be obtained by modernized sporting rifles(Bolt Guns and AR s). With a
few rather simplistic steps any Gunsmith can tailor an old shotgun(smoothbore and rifled) to fit
a specific shooter in some pretty ingenious ways. First would be correcting the length of pull. In
my mind, I like to compare this aspect of firearms to a good compound bow, you can buy higher
end ones and if the draw length is off it simply will not perform what you expect of it. The same
principle applies to firearms, regardless of whether it would be a rifle or shotgun. Improper fit in
this aspect will result in sub par accuracy and more importantly, it will... Show more content on

The overall length of pull was short, the comb height was non existent and I would have to break
cheek weld all the time, and lastly the pitch was awful. The pitch is what I ll cover seeing how it
was the most problematic for me. If the shooter were to draw a line that bisected the rifle from
the bore to the Buttstock it would become obvious the problem with this old rifle. It simply was
not anywhere in line. It would ve been four fifths of the stock were below the bisection. Meaning
the recoil was pretty nasty and made follow up shots difficult. After reading this article, I ve
come to the conclusion of how to fix my old fabled Mauser, one being a new stock with more of
the bore being in line to the Buttstock. The second modification will be the porting of the barrel to
help some of the muzzle climb. Most younger gun enthusiasts associate a ported barrel directly to
a Glock. I ve personally had the same train of thought as well. The benefits of porting an old
Shotgun become almost ideal for any application. Most younger folks will probably seek out
porting to fit the bill of 3 Gun Comps or for use in the good old outdoors. Either way you cannot
go wrong. Particularly if the shooter is a small framed individual that has to absorb the majority of
recoil from slugs or other heavy loads. Not only will the shooter s shoulder forgive them it will
also allow them more longevity on the gun

  • 2. Point Nemo Research Paper So... uh... this is my first post. Please tolerate any amateurism that occurs here. We ll begin with the farthest point from land (uncovered by water, as the crust is only 4 miles away) Point Nemo (means no one in Latin, quite suitable, isn t it?) (Coordinates: 48.875485556, 123.392519167) This map always makes me overlook the fact that the Pacific Ocean is vast... Named after the eponymous captain (he s an Indian prince by the way) from Jules Vernes Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Point Nemo is about 2,688.22058 km (1,670.38289 miles) from any scrap of land. whether it s an atoll, a sandbank ...or this one that ll certainly work as a shelter for when of a zombie apocalypse... Fun fact: The word Nemo is carved (well it s clearly photoshopped, but that choice of word isn t really fascinating) on the ocean floor if you re browsing satellite mode on Google Maps. • 3. Pros And Cons Of Building A Border Wall Should the United States build a border wall? Many will procrastinate about this but in the end there will be an outcome with what will happen as far as building a border wall. There are many Pros and Cons to this single objective. Starting off with a Pro, Many say this is a racist act or a sign of weakness coming from our President Donald Trump. But in some cases this is an essential thing for the United Statesto do. This walltoo many is wrong to do because our media has a big head on racial point along society today. In the long run a wall could be really beneficial as a commodity for the security of our great nation. Jeff Corwin stated that If this border wall actually happens, it will be an environmental catastrophe. Essentially, what it s doing is cutting through nature s bridge, which connects Central America to North America and South America. Which in many cases this can be supported but then again many people work very hard to become a citizen in the United States for many to come across the border to get here illegally and to most this is unfair. To make another main statement given the rising global instability in North Korea and the Middle East with a strong and supportive border it would be harder for terrorist to get their hands on biological, chemical or radiological weapons. With an insecure border it makes it easier for them to bring them into the United States and launch a devastating attack on the United States. A big Con that has many thinking is who ... • 4. The Effects of Heroin Addiction Heroin is illegal and highly addictive. (Dupont, 1997). It remains as the most common drug among drug, among all the opiates (Lalander, 2003). The opiate is made from morphine. Morphine occurs naturally in seed pops of various poppy plants. In most cases, it is sold as a brown or black sticky powder. Currently, purer forms of heroinare becoming more common in the streets today (Research Council of Norway, 2013). Many heroin addicts usually inject or smoke it. On average, a heroin addict may inject three or four times in a day. The intravenous injection has been associated with the greatest intensity by heroin users. It is associated with an immense rapid onset of euphoria. When smoked or even puffed, peak effects are experienced after ten to fifteen minutes. Smoking or even puffing, does not produce a rush effect (Research Council of Norway, 2013) The United States survey on drug abuse has identified that, 2.4 million People in the country, had used heroin at a point in their lives (Research Council of Norway, 2013). 130, 000 of them, reported that they had used the substance a month before the survey. The report estimates that, in the year 2012, there were around eighty one new users of heroin in the United States. • 5. Essay on The Presidency of Gerald R. Ford The Presidency of Gerald R. Ford Gerald R. Ford was the 38th President of the United States, after gaining the position through extraordinary circumstances. His good will and friendly demeanor helped him climb the political ladder higher than even he had anticipated. His career in politics began with his law firm, yet ended up in the oval office. While his presidency was short lived, it is remembered due to numerous crucial decisions he had to make. After graduating from Yale with a law degree in 1941, Gerald R. Ford returned to his home town of Grand Rapids Michigan to start a law firm with his friend Phillip Buchen. He also became active in local politics. However, less than a year passed before he joined the Navy in 1942 to assist in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a matter of fact, his route to the presidency was more circumstantial than intentional. In 1973, Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned from office due to a kick back scandal ( Gerald R. Ford Timeline 3). President Richard Nixon then decided to select Ford as the new vice president, knowing that Ford s reputation in Congress would make him the only candidate both houses and parties would accept. As the vice president, Ford was not very active. Even more so, he intentionally chose to stay out of the way; perhaps because he did not want to be associated with the actions and policies of the Nixon administration. Next, as is popular knowledge, President Nixon resigned after the Watergate scandal came to light, leaving Ford to become the President. Gerald R. Ford was sworn in on August 9, 1974, as the United State s 38th president. In his inauguration speech, Ford was open about the bizarre circumstances that led to him holding the position. He acknowledged to the people that he was not chosen by them for the job as President. He continues to say, If you have not chosen me by secret ballot, neither have I gained office by any secret promises. I have not campaigned either for the Presidency or the Vice Presidency. I have not subscribed to any partisan platform. He spoke these words to show the public who were skeptical of all politicians after the Watergate scandal that he could be trusted. He knew without ... • 9. Arthurian Character Of Sir Gawain I feel like I have analyzed the character of Sir Gawain every time the opportunity arrises in this class and you are probably getting a little tired on critiquing my analysis over the same character. Though, relating to Arthurian concepts, it must have been fate or destiny that the Gawain character would be an option for me to analyze on this final. This sort of fortune to have a character that I feel I can give a clear and in depth analysis over, just might make this final examination on an Arthurian character close to perfection . On a more serious note my reasoning for choosing Sir Gawainwas actually based on looking at the other concepts given as choices to analyze. I was conflicted on what information I could relate and elaborate on in a 1,000 word analysis. Then as I was starting to defining each concept, I found a tremendous connection to Sir Gawain to almost all of them. One might find this sort of association in comparing other knights in Arthurian literature, but do those knights really have that strong of a connection as Sir Gawain does? This is the question I started internally debating about and found that the answer is no. This realization and connection to multiple concepts found in Arthurian literature and Sir Gawain gave me a perfect argument. In looking at one character throughout Arthurian literature there is no better example of Arthurian themes and elements that seem to embody only one character through various stories and poems, that being Sir ... • 10. Literary Devices In The Game By Donald Barthelme In every story, there are many things to analyze. In Game by Donald Barthelme, he shows us the way our minds start to work in stressful situations like how the narrator and Shotwell started to respond while controlling the console for the war. In Game the narrator s name is never told, Shotwell and the narrator do not trusteach other, but are left alone together and trusted to kill the other if they start to behave strangely, although it is never clarified what counts as strange and what counts as normal. Various literary devices are used throughout the story to show us Barthelme s intended theme, some used are: repetition, symbolism, irony, and figurative language. Barthelme uses repetition to show how the narrator s mindis deteriorating while being confined in a small space, isolated from everyone except someone he does not know, with very little instruction about what to do. A lot of what the narrator repeats throughout the story are what makes us, as the readers, believe that his mind is deteriorating. For example, when he repeats that they have been there for one hundred thirty three days, Barthelme is showing how the narrator is counting the days to keep himself reminded. Although, it starts to make him question how long he and Shotwell will be in isolation and it starts to make him think differently about his situation and he starts to realize and focus on about how they are both unwell. • 11. Social, Ethical, And Economic Problems AD was first identified in 1906, however, research into its causes and treatment only gained momentum over the past 30 years. Research into AD and the exact physiological changes that trigger the development of AD still remain unknown. The only exceptions are certain rare, inherited forms of the disease caused by known genetic mutations. (Dekkers, W., Marcel, O. R. 2006) There are some major links to those who are affected by (AD). The link that connects family history those who have a parent, or sibling with Alzheimer s are at a greater risk of developing the disease. (Dekkers, W., Marcel, O. R. 2006) AD is not a usual part of growing older, however, it is one of the highest risk factor for the disease. Currently, millions of people are affected by AD worldwide and the number is expected to rise well over 106 million by the year 2050, this rise will cause serious clinical, social, ethical, and economic problems. (Dekkers, W., Marcel, O. R. 2006) According to scientific evidence most individuals with AD are age 65 or older making it the number one cause for Alzheimer s. Developing Alzheimer s increases radically about every five years after age 65. AD slowly wears away at memory and the ability to retain new information little by little, your brain begins to degenerate. (Dekkers Marcel 2006) AD eventually effects the ability to carry out the simplest of tasks. The effects of AD are different in every patient but, the most common symptom begins slowly and ... • 12. Sex Education Should Be Taught At School Sex education can be traced back to the beginning of the 20th century. Chicago s public schools introduced the Nation s first formal sex education program which has raised controversy throughout the years. Many believe that talking about sex in the classroom raises the initiation of such behavior. Others believe that ignoring the subject keeps teens in the dark which leads them to make unsafe decisions when they become sexually active. Whether it is at school or at home, teens must be taught about the dangers of unprotected sex as well as abstinence. Being unaware of protection puts teens at risk of becoming pregnant or contracting an STD or STI. Sex educationmust be taught at school and it must be taught right, without lies or myths and without giving teens the idea that the only perfect time for them to become sexually active is when they are married. If sex education was taught at school instead of abstinence only education, it would help young adults make correct decisions when becoming sexually active as well as helping them make wise choices that can affect their future. From the beginning of the 1900 s, sex education became a topic that till this day will raise controversy. As it started to be introduced in more schools, conservative groups began protesting to ban sex education. They believed children should not be taught such behavior since it was a topic that should be discussed at home; at a parent s choice. When the 1980 s AIDS epidemic began, these ... • 13. Space Race And The Space Race When the United States of America was founded, no one knew how the American experiment would develop. Over the centuries, the United States would face many trying challenges, continually dipping into the patriotic ideals the country was founded on. Motivation to remain aligned with its ideological foundation of life, liberty, and happiness became the American way, turning into an attempt at stability in a shifting world. Majority of the time, the nation lacked unity, such as the Antebellum period preceding the sectional Civil War. One result of such dividing conflicts facing America was its increasing ability to adapt. America needed to learn how to fight in World War I, and how to stand up against unprecedented powers in World War II. It needed to remain unified as the world around it crumbled, usually taking the form of its rooted patriotism, rather than genuine interpersonal community. As the military department was called on for aid during the wars, warfare technology was greatly advanced. With such expansion, came conflict. The Soviet Unionand The United Stateswere newly recognized as the world s super powers with the fall of Nazi Germany, the pair being equally defensive and opinionated bodies standing for opposing ideals. They fought to prove them self the superior nation, unable to satisfy the indignant competition, which was feeding into all fields of governing. Most famously, the two bodies tumbled along the Space Race, a movement to one up each other in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Book Of Esther In The Hebrew Bible The book of Esther appears in the Hebrew Bible as one of five scrolls that is read on festivals or commemorative days of the Jewish year. Esther is the story of the deliverance of the Jews from destruction and persecution from King Ahasuerus official named Haman. In this story, Esther shows great courage and devotion to her Jewish people, and even risks her own safety to help defend them against the wrongdoings of Haman. This story interests me most because it is a story about a woman s courage and strength that saved her people. When King Ahasuerus wife, Queen Vashti, refused the king s orders to appear before him in court to show the people and the officials her beauty, King Ahasuerus was enraged by her disobedience. The king s officials informed him that this disobedience set an example for the wives of the officials, and that they too would disobey if the king did not write a law stating that Queen Vashti could never again come before the king, and that her... The grandmother in A Good Man is hard to find gives great importance to being a lady, and her ideas about what that means reflect an old fashioned, Southern mindset. She uses the n word and longs for the good old days when kids were polite, people were trustworthy. All of this leads her to associate being good with coming from a respectable family and behaving like a member of her social class; those who don t are outsiders. All of this is put to the test when she meets The Misfit. Society vs. Class shows that everyone is truly equal and at the end of the day social class doesn t make a difference. O Conner shows this through her use of Tone and Characterization throughout the story. The grandmother is representative of godliness and Christianity which O Connor apparently believed to be more prevalent in the 1950 s down south. the grandmother had on a navy blue straw sailor hat with a bunch of white violets on the brim and a navy blue dress with a small white dot in the print. • 17. Theology of Grace Theology of Grace There are many different ways to interpret the theology of grace. In this paper, I will be discussing four major theologians who have the most popular insights on grace. These theologians include Augustine, Aquinas, Luther, and Rahner who all have their own unique perspective on grace. All of their theories seem to intertwine with one another but each individual one has a different twist that makes them slightly different. The first theologian I m going to discuss is Augustine. Augustine was known as the Father of Grace. He believed that all human nature is in disorder due to universal sin of Adam and Eve. According to Augustine, sin is passed on by sexual acts, even if a married couple engaged in sexual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He thought that grace is forgiveness of god in which salvation comes through God. Trust of God was expressed in God s merciful love. Luther believed that a merciful god would deliver anyone from the evil they did. Only by the grace of God can forgiveness of sin be achieved. Even after you are graced, you are still partly a sinner. He believed that you could not merit grace and could not learn grace through works, it is all given. Grace is totally undeserved and only through God s choice can you be graced. Lastly is Rahner, who was a Neo Thomist and a student of Aquinas. Rahner believed in the supernatural existential and obediential potency meaning that as we re born we have the ability and capacity to receive the love of God. He said that grace was God s self communication in love. Also, grace is not an extra addition to human nature. Karl Rahner developed a theology that views grace as the offer of God s love that is intrinsic to existent human nature (pg. 1). He believed that you can either accept or reject the honor of grace. According to Rahner, human beings freely choose to ratify or to reject that orientation which is itself the free gift of a loving God, but the orientation remains structured into their being (pg. 2). You re only free when you love. If you decide to love then you are authentic but if you decide not to love then you are disgraced. Rahner believed that like God, we can know and can ... Essay On The Paradox Of The Reformation The Paradox of the Reformation in Ireland: Why it is Essential in Spite of its Failure 1.Introduction While the Protestant Reformation was a movement that was influenced, and even caused by events prior to 1517; a domino effect was unleashed when, on October 31, 1517, a young German monk named Martin Luther nailed his work, The Ninety Five Theses, to the door of All Saints Church in Wittenberg, Germany. Although Luther had never intended it to do so; his exploit acted as a catalyst for what was a nearly perfect formula for this reformation to ensue. These attempts were futile, short lived, and overshadowed by Edward s short reign and his half sister Mary s rise to the throne and actions as queen. This however did also not last long as Mary passed away five years after ascending to the throne at which point in time her sister Elizabeth took her place. Elizabeth immediately reverted to the ways of her late brother and father, as she was Protestant. When she came to the throne, Elizabeth had the Act of Supremacy and Act of Uniformity sent through parliament they both passed. The former was an act that her father had passed in order to gain authority of the church. She had to replace it because it was repealed by her sister Mary while she was Queen. • 21. The Reform Movement Of Rural Canada During The Nineteenth... The search for reform in rural Canada during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries reveals a deep connection between educational movements and social reform. The readings for the first three weeks of this course have provided an overview of how social reformers during this period were keen to promote an urban and modern orientation to direct social reformmovements in rural Canada. Often, this perspective came into conflict with the needs of the rural society at the time. Therefore, the widespread discontent within the rural society was illustrated through the various efforts of social reform in Canada during the 1860s 1960s. The first set of readings of this course outline the ways in which the hopes of the social reformers were to promote reform based on an urban and modern orientation through movements in agriculture, social welfare, and education. In doing so, the social reformers encouraged three kinds of developments: i) the promotion of an urban orientation through the reform of agricultural education, ii) the promotion reform through social legislation, and finally iii) the promotion of reform in rural education to progressive systems of education. Although the reformers saw the promotion of progressivism as a solution to the various problems within the rural society, the widespread discontent from the rural society depicted the ways in which the needs of the urbanites and the rural society came into conflict. And yet they are surrounded by controversies because they seem to conflict each other. But, in the case of the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of John, this concern is truly misplaced. Looking closer at the texts shows that they are not entirely dissimilar. Both texts are based in tradition and their relation to Jesus. The texts come from the same founding idea but the difference lies in their uses of tradition to convey different messages to the audience. The Gospelof Matthew uses tradition to provide legitimacy to Jesus and paint him as a continuation of tradition, whereas the Gospel of John alludes to traditional ideas to show Jesus as a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to Matthew, John makes this obvious from the opening verse of the gospel in which he rewrites the creation myth from the beginning of Genesis. Where Genesis states that In the beginning God created earth (Genesis 1:1), the Gospel of John changes the text to say that in the beginning the was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1). There is no longer just God, there is the Word, or Jesus, and the reader is forced to now think about the world in this way. Instead of bridging the gap between the Hebrew Bible and Jesus, John chooses to changing the words and thus change the way the faith is thought about. John rewrites tradition through Jesus and attempts to create a change in the way the faith works. During the crucifixion of Jesus, John continues to allude to the Jewish tradition with subtle changes to past ideas. When on the cross, a thirsty Jesus is given a drink from a sponge full of vinegar on a hyssop (John 19:29). The reed of hyssop, though it could not have actually held a sponge, it s meant to remind the audience of the tradition of using hyssop to spread blood on your door during Passover. And after his death, John refers to the fulfillment of prophecy in 19:36, where scripture said that not a bone of him shall be broken. Subsequently, Jesus is pierced by the spear of a soldier and there came out blood and water (John 19:34). All of these examples allude to the tradition of Passover. These references, however, were originally about the sacrificial lamb to be slaughtered for use on the sacred holiday. John takes this traditional idea and changes it, using the idea in reference to Jesus. Both the cleansing blood and water that fall from Jesus and the bones that are not be broken are meant to liken Jesus to the sacrificial lamb that saves the Jews. In the early 1800s, women were treated as slaves and their purpose was to please the men in their lives (Smith, 2002). In the 1930s, Kellogg released an advertisement stating, so the harder a wife works, the cuter she looks! which sexualized women for their husband s enjoyment (Heilpern, 2016). One would think over seven decades things would change, but unfortunately, similarities from both the 1800s and the 1930s are still present today. There was a substantial increase in the sexualization of women throughout this period and they hypothesized that by 2013 this would increase again (Denbeau, 2011, p. 55). Looking at advertisements between 2003 and 2013, one could say that their hypothesis was correct and their study findings are valid that overtime advertising will continue to sexualize women more explicitly. How Companies Get Away with Sexualization in Advertising At the turn of the 20th century, gender stereotyping women in advertising became a popular marketing technique. As previously outlined, the stereotyping and sexualization of women continued into the 21st century and is stronger than ever. But how can companies continue with the blatant sexualization and victimization of women for over a century? By incorporating humour into advertising, people often overlook the sexism presented in the advertisement. Peters, Holmgreen, and Oswald (2015, p. 162) highlight that by mixing humour and sexist material together in advertisements, the intention is to evoke benign laughter , not to promote prejudice . Incarcerating youth before exploring other options is a social injustice. Judges rather give short term solutions than permanently fix the problem. To understand why this is a social injustice, four pieces of information must be known: the causes, who it affects and how, who s responsible, and solutions in place. Incarcerating youth affects them in many different ways. One way is the psychiatric damage prisons cause. Being in prison means that the child is not able to be with their family and community, which can lead to feelings of loneliness and depression. Studies show that incarcerated youth die from suicide at a rate two to three times more than non incarcerated youths (Polish,1). In addition to mental health effects, incarceration at a young age affects the person s future by lowering their chances of finding a job. This article is about how the global food price index is going down, and has fallen to its lowest level in the last four years. It is saying that a lot of different foods are getting cheaper like grains, vegetable oils, sugar, and dairy products. So that means that CPI should decrease now since a family will be spending less money on those products. The only place where the prices are not falling is in the meatindustry especially in the beef industry. That is because the supply for beef was decreased after a drought made the suppliers want to decrease the size of the herd. That in turn caused the producers of the beef to have expectations that the future was going to be bleak for them. So they decided to not spend as much in their planned investments. Now because of these past decisions; when the market rebounded it the supply was down. Another plus in the market that is currently happening in the U.S. right now is that the food industry is having harvests of corn and soybean that will break the records in the overall production and yield per acre. This has caused the grain prices to fall by almost half. This makes the producers of pork, poultry, and beef very happy. Community Immersion Analysis On Community Introduction The definition of Community, Netting, Kettner, McMurty and Thomas (2012) stated by Warren (1978) Community is the combination of social units and systems that perform the major social functions relevant to meeting people s needs on a local level. (p.133). Understanding communities is important to social workers as they have, Netting et al (2012) to know individuals functions within larger systems, understanding of its history and that communities constantly change (p. 168). A community has many parts that make it work together; when one part is not working well, it affects the entire system. Social Workers are able to analyze, interpret data and work with community groups and leaders to find solutions to improve the workings of that community to its full potential. This community immersion analysis will focus on its community s social agencies, diversity and cultural richness. Systems Theory applies to this area as the macro system of this community s main downtown street is filled with stores, restaurants, cultural establishments where locals as well as tourist convene (Netting, 2012) that carries out production as well as school and religious sites work to socialize community members. (P.140) Community Demographics Venturas downtown area is in the west area direction of Ventura situated along the pacific coastline. The downtown area is considered historic with its rich history of culture, diversity and a long standing for grassroots organizations and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Ethos And Pathos In The Achievement Habit By Bernard Roth Ethos, Logos, and Pathos If one was told they could fly without wings or on an airplane, would they believe it? Or if they were promised they could walk on water, would they still try? Probably not, correct? Knowing a person s creditability is key before you make the decision to put faith in them or to trust them or not. In the novel The Achievement Habit written by Bernard Roth, while still showing emotion towards his audience, Roth makes sure to have reliable credentials and logic behind his reasoning. Roth has a passionate attitude and strong morals about what he preaches in chapter two, Reasons are Bullshit that is reassuring and fitting to the reader. His communication is established through personal relations and stories,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He knows everyone in life struggles. He simply is encouraging the reader to stop finding excuses and continue improving themselves by stop handing out excuses and reasons. A wise man once wrote You can t do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth. Evan Esar. Justifications in life simply set one back from becoming great; which is what Roth does a stellar job explaining it in this chapter. Roth s appeal of pathos initially rubs the reader to be a little angrier, seeing that he believes that every reason is just an excuse. However, it s the disciplinarian theory he is using to do two things. One, it wakes up the reader and grabs their attention and two, to make the reader think and question the excuses or reasons they have been dealing with in their personal life. Everyone needs a reason to do anything, but there s no logic behind every reason. The reason behind going to the grocery store, is to buy food so one doesn t starve in the middle of the week. The reason behind a person going to the hair salon is to feel better about their personal image. The reason of going to the gas station is to fuel up a car with gasoline. Roth agrees with reasons controlling everything by saying Our society loves reasons. Perhaps the illusions that there is a single known reason for each thing we do is comforting. (Roth 41.) ... • 38. Interview Summary Of Peter Holloway s On Virtual... Interview summary for Peter Holloway, conducted on October 8, 2015 by Anita Sommer for the IRI Virtual Experimentation and Simulation project. Peter Holloway is a Systems Engineer with Rolls Royce Limited. He leads a team of simulation tool developers that code, refine, and integrate existing modeling tools that are used in the preliminary design phases of their jet engines. The preliminary design stages involve identifying candidate engine architectures, preparing proposals, and presenting proposals to customers such as Boeing and Airbus. Peter has been involved in simulation for about ten years in a number of different companies and at various levels. His team consists mostly of domain experts that have lent themselves to programming, with between three and five years of systems design experience. Rolls Royce has a culture of allowing its engineering staff to develop experimentation and simulation tools within their domain of expertise. Often however, these domain experts are not experienced programmers and the tools the engineers develop are used by only a few people within that domain. Peters team takes these tools, improves the code, making the tools more robust, and most importantly from a simulation point of view, making the different tools talk to each other in whole system simulation software. Rolls Royce Ltd. uses virtual experimentation and simulation on both their products and processes because it helps the company meet cost and time objectives when delivering ... • 39. Abolishing Death Penalty The future of the death penalty lies unclear in the cross country battle over whether or not it should be abolished. The death penalty should in fact be abolished because of the extreme costs and painful time involved to house and execute inmates, the indecision of which method of execution is the most humane, and the increasing number of innocent inmates being wrongfully executed. The number of death sentences peaked at about 315 in 1996, but last year dropped to only 73. In addition, the number of prisoners on death row dropped 17% from 3,593 in 2000, to 3,000 in 2015(Wolf and Johnson 1). Despite this rapid decline in the amount of death sentences and prisoners awaiting execution, 31 states still retain the death penalty, with only seven ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... is that no states are seeking to reinforce the death penalty. For example, California houses 25% of the nation s 3,000 death row prisoners and the $137 million dollars the state spends on maintaining capital punishment has led to the states disliking. One aspect of capital punishment that has displeased average American citizens is all the attention on death row prisoners, making rock stars out of killers. Many believe the money and attention should be spent on more serious issues like disease or poverty or even on the struggling families of the victims. However, the crime rate jumped 122% from 1963 to 1980, and maybe that is why capital punishment is needed. The fear of being executed will diminish the amount of murders and crimes in the country, and that if we protect guilty lives then innocent lives will be given up in exchange. But by reinforcing the death penalty, innocents could be wrongly executed. Take for example Anthony Ray Hinton. Hinton spent 30 years on Alabama s death row after being convicted for two murders at age 29. But due to a defense lawyer s mistakes in 1985, he was granted a new hearing and was found innocent. After being freed he said, I spent 30 years on death row for something I didn t do. This supports my argument in that if all this time and money is spent on protecting the death penalty to come to a clear verdict, than there should never be a wrong conviction. The risk of wrongful convictions is greater if the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Barrier Lab Report Abstract This paper describes a process in which olives were preserved in acidic brine and then exposed to an overpressure of oxygen. This experiment determined that after being exposed for one to three days that the fruit no longer had a bitter taste. It is thought that this is due to the oxidation of the phenolic compounds contained within the olives. It was shown that this correlated with a decrease in the amount of bound glucoside oleuropein found within the samples. Several variables were tested such as the overpressure level, concentration of oxygen, and temperature. The results show that this new method of olivedebittering could be a viable treatment of commercially produced olives while also producing less waste and increasing yields... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When exposed to open air for five days at various temperatures (20 and 40 degree Celsius) the bitterness remained. However, the bitterness was completely absent in fruits treated with an overpressure of oxygen. It was shown that the rate of debittering was dependent on the concentration of oxygen. As the concentration of oxygen was increased, the faster the oxidation occurred throughout the entire fruit. The rate was also faster in samples treated with pure oxygen rather than pressurized air as seen in Figure 3. Temperature did not affect the rate of the debittering process in samples treated with pure oxygen but cut the time of the reaction in half in samples using air. It was found that fruits that underwent oxidation reaction under overpressured conditions showed a significant decrease in the compounds associated with olive bitterness such as hydroxytyrosol (bound) and oleuropein as highlighted by Table 1. To confirm this HPLC chromatograms (Figure 4) were used to show the decrease and/or absence of the bitterness compounds. In the chromatogram you can see a clear absence of both oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol in the treated juice and oil. This means the oxidation occurred and did in fact eliminate the target compounds. The oxidation reaction occurs at the two alcohol groups attached to the bound hydroxytyrosol group converting them to keto groups as shown in Figure 2. The simple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Golding 73) When the boys became aware that they were stranded on an island that had no adults, rules, or order they decided to recreate a similar society they were living in by appointing Ralph leader simply because he was the one who blew the conch and was the most handsome out of all of them. Later we see how the democracy they chose to mimic doesn t quite work out for all of the boys on the island. I believe that Golding made this a young adult novel to show us that the boys, as young as they are and the innocence we associate them with, know more than we give them credit for. Water provides us with necessary hydration for our bodies, gives us means to grow crops and raise animals, it acts as a highway for boats and barges, and through water, humanity has thrived. The recipe for water is a relatively simple one, all you need is to combine one part oxygen and two part hydrogen and suddenly you have the key to life on earth. Water is arguably the most valuable resource that exists on planet earth and yet, it is quickly slipping out of our reach. Water covers over seventy percent of earth s surface, but only about three percent of that water is available for human use as freshwater. The main source of freshwater is permanent ice sheets,... Now in the midst of the green movement of the 2000s, ethanol can be found in over 90 percent of gasoline at public gas stations (Fuel testers, 2012). This technology is being pushed to new extremes as it strives toward its goal of replacing gasoline as our main fuel source. Ethanol promises us less gas emissions, less dependence on foreign oil, and prolonged use of a healthier environment. This happy picture ethanol has painted, however, might be too good to be true. As the demand for ethanol rises, the demand for corn grown by American farmers also rises. As the demand for corn rises, the water necessary to irrigate those crops also rises. As water use rises, our water supply diminishes. At first glance, ethanol as a new fuel supply appeared to be the answer to all of our problems, but now Americans need to reconsider this corn grown miracle. First and foremost, the water to ethanol payoff is shockingly low. Fully irrigated, corn takes up to 1,200 gallons of water to produce one gallon of ethanol (Bio Energy, 2013). To create a little over two gallons of ethanol, farmers need to grow one bushel of corn, which consumes over 3,172 gallons of water (Bio Energy, 2013). • 47. Research Paper On Taoism Immortality does not mean living forever in the present physical body. In Taoism, death is just the final step in achieving complete unity with the universe when Taoist draws closer and closer to nature throughout their life. Taoism has a goal to raise the immortal practise to a higher level which is spiritual immortality. To attain it, people have to transform all their qi into primordial qi and proceed to refine it to subtler levels. This finer qi will eventually turn into pure spirit, with which practitioners increasingly identify to become transcendent spirit people. To achieve this, intensive meditation and trance training as well as more radical forms of diet and other longevity practices are needed. Immortality implies the overcoming of the natural tendencies of the body and its transformation into a different kind of qi constellation. It is a bypassing of death so that the end of the body has no impact on the continuation of the spirit person. In addition, practitioners attain super sensory powers and eventually gain residence in wondrous otherworldly paradises (Kohn 2005). Taoism is a polytheist religion. • 48. Customization Of Firearms From what I ve gathered out of this article is simply the following: Customization isn t something that can only be obtained by modernized sporting rifles(Bolt Guns and AR s). With a few rather simplistic steps any Gunsmith can tailor an old shotgun(smoothbore and rifled) to fit a specific shooter in some pretty ingenious ways. First would be correcting the length of pull. In my mind, I like to compare this aspect of firearms to a good compound bow, you can buy higher end ones and if the draw length is off it simply will not perform what you expect of it. The same principle applies to firearms, regardless of whether it would be a rifle or shotgun. Improper fit in this aspect will result in sub par accuracy and more importantly, it will... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The overall length of pull was short, the comb height was non existent and I would have to break cheek weld all the time, and lastly the pitch was awful. The pitch is what I ll cover seeing how it was the most problematic for me. If the shooter were to draw a line that bisected the rifle from the bore to the Buttstock it would become obvious the problem with this old rifle. It simply was not anywhere in line. It would ve been four fifths of the stock were below the bisection. Meaning the recoil was pretty nasty and made follow up shots difficult. After reading this article, I ve come to the conclusion of how to fix my old fabled Mauser, one being a new stock with more of the bore being in line to the Buttstock. The second modification will be the porting of the barrel to help some of the muzzle climb. Most younger gun enthusiasts associate a ported barrel directly to a Glock. I ve personally had the same train of thought as well. The benefits of porting an old Shotgun become almost ideal for any application. Most younger folks will probably seek out porting to fit the bill of 3 Gun Comps or for use in the good old outdoors. Either way you cannot go wrong. Particularly if the shooter is a small framed individual that has to absorb the majority of recoil from slugs or other heavy loads.
