The Biblical Warning Of God
We all have that concept of evil. Each religion has that dark figure that beckons enticingly to pull
us from the path of whatever deity we ve devoted ourselves to. Lucifer for the Judeo Christians,
Iblees for the Muslims, Mara for the Buddhists; whatever one calls it, there is evil that looks to
sway people from their path of faith. So of course we as people, feel the need to set up defenses
to prevent such a thing. The biblical warning that Your adversary the Devil prowls around like a
roaring lion, seeking some one to devour (1 Peter 5:8) made the Devil an even more horrifying.
(The Horrors of Witchcraft and Demonic Possession, Brian P. Levak) figure, while the prophecies
in RevelationWe pray, we participate in religious rituals, and we even sometimes tailor our
lifestyles to fit a righteous one to please the god chosen and keep away the evil that we so fear.
That s easy to do when the Evil is just a scary image, but how can we possibly take precautions
when suddenly that Evil can inhabit us whether we resist or not. No matter how different we are
from each other, Demonic Possession is something that all cultures seem to have, with their own
remedies to the issue. The concept of demonic possession is something that s existed for an unclear
amount of time. The Bible alludes to many instances of demons being driven out of people and the
Qur an tells of Jinns inhabiting the bodies of humans as well. It s obvious that abnormal behavior
has been recorded through the years

Microaggression Essay
Hi classmates,
Here is my respond to the following questions:
1.Describe a time you committed a microaggression: I remember the incident during my stay in
Spain. My friends introduced me to their friends and their families. My reaction to the greeting first
alerted them, and then became the general fun, but I understand that for my part it was exactly a
microaggression. At the moment of greeting, a person leanin towards you and thrice touches your
cheek with his/her cheek, imitating a kiss, and you should greet this way with everyone. My first
reaction I pulled away. The closest friend of my acquaintances perceived my reaction as a personal
dislike.
a)What was the underlying message?
Please, do not touch me. It is my personal space. I do not cuddle, kissing with people I do not know.
b)How did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plus, I asked my friends about whether there are any other things I should know about to react
properly.
d) How have you changed?
At the other days, I had to communicate with a large group of people in business and in a more
informal atmosphere and I was glad that I had prepared for this in advance and was ready to
respond to the situation. Regardless of which country I am in, if possible I try to learn as much as
possible about the very small things that really mean a lot. Ordinary greetings with new people, a
good example of what I mean.
2.Describe a time you experienced a microaggression:
Because English is my second language; most microaggressions are associated with this. Oh, you
got an accent, are not you an American? Do you live in this country and do not speak English?
Often in my face people express their attitude to the whole nation, to which I belong.
a) What was the underlying message?
You are not like us. What are you doing here? You are less intelligent. You are from a wild strange
country
b) How did you

Next, there are the hours which you can either work morning or night shift. Usually 8 or more
hours a day. They monitor about 15 patients each day, checking on them at least twice. Also, they
help newborns, people with smoking problems, place people on ventilators, and deal with
intensive care units. They are pretty busy throughout their day. Respiratory Therapist would
have to be friendly and have good social skills to deal with different patients. Also, have a strong
stomach, because they deal with a lot of nasty things. On the plus side there is always the
opportunities. Job opportunities for a Respiratory Therapist are great. Any health careers are
always in need. The salary for being a Respiratory Therapist is roughly $59,000 a year. The
salary seems to go up each year, because the demand for this job is in great need in most areas.
The benefits of being a Respiratory Therapist is just knowing you helped someone in need.
Which makes you feel better about yourself. Also, there?s only about 5% paper work involved,
which isn?t a lot at all. But then there is always the negative aspects of the job, which involve
dealing with nasty things. Such as spit, blood, vomiting, and more. Overall, it?s a good job to
pursue. In conclusion, the speaker that introduced the class to this job, covered everything you
needed to know. Every job has the good and the bad. But helping others makes people feel better
about themselves. There were a lot of

How My Life Has Changed My Outlook On Life
Did you ever think that your life could change from one minute to the next? I sat on the couch
waiting for the news that would change my outlook on life. I had a pit in my stomach before there
was even news to tell. I knew this news was coming for a long time, but I did not know how. My
world was going how any 15 year old would want it to go. A loving family, nice friends, and all the
free time in the world. What I did not know was that was all about to change. I was laying on the
couch with my head buried deep in the cushions. Almost like that would shield me from the
news I was about to receive. Goosebumps started to appear on my arms and tear drops rose in
my eyes. I heard the door knob turn, and I knew my mom was home. Picking my head up from
out of the cushions, was like picking up a boulder with my bare hands. Before this point in time
my life was basic. There was six people in the room when the news was dropped. Each person
was on the edge of their seat already anticipating the news my mom was about to speak. We all
sat in the living room which could comfortably fit all of us. However, this time was different. All
the seats were filled with heavy hearts. My mom said guys, I have something to tell you .
Seconds following that statement my Mom mom broke down into tears. Seeing someone you love
cry really pulls on your heart. The silence told it all. Something tragic has happened to our family.
The living room that held six people was terribly silent. My mom ended

Self Reflexive Aspects of Singing in the Rain Essay
Singin in the Rain (MGM, 1952) is an American musical comedy directed by Gene Kelly and
Stanley Donen. The film comically emulates the transition from the production of silent movies to
talkies in Hollywood during the 1920s. The narrative follows a successful silent film star named
Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) and his glamorous blonde on screen partner Lina Lamont as they
attempt to adapt The Duelling Cavalier a silent film, into a talking film. However, the shrill sound
of Lamont s voice cast serious doubt of the potential success of the film. Lockwood s musically
talented sidekick Cosmo Brown (Donald O conner) suggests that the film be turned into a musical,
and recommends Lockwood s love interest Kathy Seldon (Debbie Reynolds) perform... Show more

At the conclusion of the musical number Cosmo flips off the illusionary backdrop of a hallway.
This example demonstrates how the text reflects its own making and works to demystify the
illusions of Hollywood. The back stage pass that is granted to audience uncovers the modes of
Hollywood production and replaces it with musical performances.
Throughout Singin in the Rain self referential techniques are employed to signal to the audience
that the film is a metafictional text. The text consciously advises the audience that what they are
watching is not real, consequently disrupting the illusion of the fourth wall. Ingersoll (1999,
p.385) describes metafiction as a fictional text that draws attention to itself as a text in a variety
of ways . An example of this can be identified during the opening scene when Don Lockwood
explains his rise to fame story. The character looks directly into the camera as he speaks, breaking
the illusion of the fourth wall and acknowledging the audiences existence. This technique is
markedly different from the established convention of the audience eaves dropping on characters
that ordinarily function within a three walled environment (Auter amp; Davis 1991, p.165). Singin
in the Rain acknowledges the audience and itself as a work of fiction self referentially, as a result
the audience are no longer voyeuristically watching, they are being spoken to.
The term genre is used within film studies to refer to

I jumped out of bed, it was time I thought the time I had been waiting for so long, I ran over and
to my nightstand and grabbed the socks and jumped all the stairs, I felt like I could fly, until I hit
the ground and rolled. Then I hurried over to the front door and grabbed my shoes, Come on!
My dad said from the car outside, and right as I left I could hear my brothers yelling at me, go
back to bed! , no I yelled from the door and ran outside still feeling pleased with myself, and my
dad drove off. Once we arrived at the skate shop, I was amazed at all the different skateboards
and scooters, but my thinking was interrupted by my dad, ready to get yours he said, I shook my
head speechless in excitement. Once we got started, I was in a trance watching them make and
put together skate boards, once I picked out mine, they told us to wait half an hour, so we
decided to go to an ice cream shop nearby, once I got my cotton candy flavored ice cream me and
my dad sat on a bench outside the shop. My I cream started to melt and I could feel the ice cold
liquid run thru my fingers, and hit my foot like ice cold rain. It seemed like hours until we finally

Television And Radio Ratings Data
Television and radio ratings data are used primarily to assist decision making with regard to
advertising, programming, financial analysis, and policy making, all of which have significant
economic or social implications. It is important to realise that audience measurement is a business;
the firms involved are intent on using their analysis to make money. This essay will discuss why
ratings are used, what ratings actually measure, specific to radio audience ratings, and the extent to
which this information provides a satisfactory understanding of broadcast audiences. It will be seen
that ratings do not usually generate any deep understanding of why people are listening to
particular programmes, but do capture audience size and make up reasonably well. It is the
responsibility of broadcasters to understand their audience in order to effectively grow it. Radio and
television ratings measure various aspects of the broadcast audience, from how many people are in
an audience, their demographic make up and sometimes their preferences, with the objective of
gaining understandings which will help the broadcaster to grow audience participation and loyalty.
The reality is, though, that little true understanding of audience preferences is gained. The
understandings which are gained are often superficial, but sufficient to support business decision
making, particularly around advertising. As will be seen, the extent to which ratings generate
understanding of audience is all

A discussion on the Rwandan Genocide and Kenyan Post Election Violence
Presented by: K. Ntinyari Mbogori 15 1658

1.What was the main reason that triggered the Rwandan Genocide on April 7, 1994?
The country of Rwanda comprises an old kingdom that spanned several hundreds of years,
established, ruled and ran by a people who spoke the language Kinyarwanda. Within its years, these
people split into two groups namely the Hutu and the Tutsi. It is unclear why, but it is speculated
that it may have been because of the different occupations they took; the Hutu being farmers and
the Tutsi raising cattle. The Tutsi, despite... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What possible benefits did the Kenyans got from the 2007/2008 PEV?
Post election violence occurred following similar ethnic frustrations to the Rwandan Genocide.
Once again, the perceived marginalization of one community economically, politically and socially
led to an uprising that devastated the country. Prior to this, Kenya had been considered the most
stable and the most successful democracies in East Africa following the landslide victory that
overthrew Daniel Arap Moi.
Following the announcement of the election victor on December 27th 2008 and the subsequent
clandestine swearing in ceremony of the announced winner Mwai Kibaki, violence erupted around
the country with tribes of the western part of Kenya namely the Luo and Kalenjin rising up
against the Kikuyu and the latter s retaliation. The violence spread and lasted until February the
next year after which followed the peace, power sharing and mediation talks conducted by Kofi
Anan the former UN Secretary General. By this time, an estimated 1500 Kenyans had been killed
and thousands others displaced, doomed to live several years in Internally Displaces Person s

The Causes Of The Columbine High School Shootings
History.com Staff. Columbine High School Shootings. History.com, A E Television Networks,
2009, www.history.com/topics/columbine high school shootings. 27 November 2017 The source
from history.com describes the Columbine incident by Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris. They killed
twelve students and a teacher with semiautomatic guns. Then when the SWAT team arrived at the
school at around 3:00 PM, the dead bodies of the gunmen were found in the school. The gunmen
committed suicide at around noon and twenty three injured students were evacuated out of the
school and into the hospital. Following the incident, an investigation was done on the motives of
the shooters. It was suspected that the gunmen primarily targeted athletes, minorities and
Christians. It was reported that a student Cassie Bernall was shot to death because she said she
believed in god when asked by one of the gunmen. However, it was later determined that the
shooters randomly chose their targets and had intended on bombing the cafeteria to potentially take
hundreds of lives. Thankfully, the bombs never went off. It was discovered the Klebold and Harris
regularly played DOOM, which was the most violent video gameat the time.
The debate on whether video games influenced the individuals who performed these horrendous
acts kick started with the Columbine massacre. I felt I had to read the background information of
the incident to introduce the readers to the horrendous acts performed by the shooters. The discovery

Social Learning Theory and Its Application to Aggression...
Social learning theory proposes that social learning occurs when the individual views a modeled
behavior that they value, observes an act if the model has a role model or admired status, and
when a person imitates a learned behavior (Bandura, Ribes Inesta, 1976). The basic foundations of
the theory are applied to education policies, understanding psychological disorders, training courses,
behavioral modeling, in the media and has a plethora of further applications in today s society.
Another application of the theory is for criminals, violenceand aggression. Whether referring to
violence in the media, domestic violence, community violence, bullying and others, aggression and

This experiment was very controversial as Bandura sought to prove that aggression was learned
through imitation of others. Children between the ages of three and six were brought in to a
room with an adult in one corner and the child in the other. The child s side contained fun
activities while the adult s side contained a toy set, a mallet and a Bobo doll. The child was told
that the toys in the adult corner were only for the adults. In three different groups, children were
either subjected to an aggressive adult that would punch and kick the Bobo doll, a non aggressive
adult that would play with the small toys and ignored the Bobo doll and another group where no
adult was present. After the ten minute session the child was brought into another room with many
toys and after only two minutes, the child is told that they are no longer allowed to play with
those toys. The frustrated children were then brought back into the first room, where the
experiment sought to measure the physical and verbal aggression, the amount of times the mallet
was used as other forms of aggression and other forms of aggression that did not show imitation of
the original adult. The experiment found that children exposed to the aggressive adult were more
likely to act more aggressively than the others. The study also found that boys were much more
likely to be aggressive and that imitation increased when the model was of the same sex (Bandura,
Ross, Ross, 1961).

##ry And Metaphors In Roethke s Elegy For Jane
Ariel Haskins Elegy for Jane Two of the most beautiful combinations, to me, are the use of
imagery and metaphors. With the use of these two figures of speech the reader is able to paint a
complete, detail picture in their from the piece they are reading. In Elegy for Jane , the speaker
is standing over the grave of a student, Jane, of his who fell of a horse to her death. Roethke
uses imagery and diction, among other figures of speech, to help the reader picture the young
Jane that he loved and knew by using nature to make the connection. Roethke goes on throughout
the poem to compare Jane to various types of birds, sceneries, feelings and aspects of nature by
not only explaining her physical attributes but her personality as well. This poem struck my
curiosity immediately. My first thought was, Wow, this man ha a deep love and admiration for
Jane. I couldn t understand how a teacher was able to understand and care for a student that
much. Roethke s use of detail through diction and imagery paints a vivid picture of Jane, almost
as if she was standing in front of you, making the reader ponder the dynamics of the relationship
between Jane her this teacher. The poem opens with Roethke describing Jane s exterior in the
first lines: I remember the neckcurls, limp and damp as tendrils; And her quick look, a sidelong
pickerel smile; ( 1 2 ) By using the simile limp and damp as tendrils and the metaphor sidelong

Hebrews In Babylonia
(1) What events lead to the exile of the Hebrews in Babylonia? To the Hebrew people, their exile
to Babylonia and the destruction of the First Temple was brought on because they had displeased
Yahweh by not following his laws and by not living a lifestyle devoted to him. Once the Hebrews
reached the land of Canaan, division splintered them into eleven tribes, but with war constantly
occurring in the neighboring nations, the Israelitessoon realized they had to unite if the Jewish
people and religion were going to survive: The eleven Hebrew tribes were united under one king.
The Kingdom of Israelprospered for a short time and under the rule of King David and the aid of
his son Solomon the First Temple was constructed as a home for Yahweh. But when Solomon died,
the Kingdom of Israel splintered again into the northern and southern kingdoms. This factoring left
both kingdoms weakened and in 721 BCE Assyria invaded, took control, and destroyed the northern
kingdom of Israel, and a century later the weakened southern kingdom was invaded by the
Babylonians. The Babylonians... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of Satan is linked to the Babylonian Exile/Captivity due to the influences that
Babylonian culture had on the Hebrew people. This includes the evil spirits and demons in
Babylonian belief and resentment towards Babylonians for the destruction of the First
Temple/ the exile of the Hebrews in Babylonia. Satan is an evil spirit who fights against god and
his people, belief in him and his stance against god stems from the mistreatment of the
Jewish people by Babylonians which was seen as a stance the Babylonians took against Yahweh.
The religion of the conquering people also influenced the idea of Satan in Judaism and is evident by
the similarities that Babylonian evil spirits share with the many depictions of Satan in Jewish belief.

Atomic Bombs Were Dropped On The Japanese Cities Of...
Two atomic bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August of
1945. This decision brought about many consequences on both Americans and Japanese. By the
1940s the creation of atomic weaponry became possible because of Italian scientists Enrico Fermi
s discovery of the radioactivity of uranium in the 1930s (Brinkley 638). Eventually this spread to
the United States, and it was undertaken by military. President Harry Truman issued an ultimatum
to the Japanese, demanding that they surrender by August 3 or face utter devastation. When the
Japanese failed to meet the deadline, Truman ordered the air force to use the new atomic weapons
against Japan (Brinkley 638). The problem at hand is how the Americans and Japanese dealt with
the aftermath of the atomic bombings and how it shaped these countries. The context of this
decision will also be brought up. The effects of the Atomic Bomb in Japan were debilitating, not
only was the enemy defeated but so were women, children and other civilians. Many people
questioned if the bombings were justified considered the consequences. The atomic bomb on
Hiroshima caused 80,000 deaths and the bomb at Nagasaki caused 100,000 deaths; with the effects
of the radiation continued to cause even more harm (Brinkley 639). These numbers caused shock
within the Japanese and American communities; considering this was the first time that the bomb
was used on urban populations. There was a calculated 368,259 survivors

Comparing The Reproductive And Urinary System
Reproductive and Urinary Systems The reproductive and urinary systems are just two of the
eleven body systems that make up who we are. Each of these systems is comprised of certain
organs, muscles and nerves. The reproductive system contains organs that are found on the inside
and outside of both males and females and they work together to create babies. The reproductive
system is an important system in the body. The male reproductive system is made up of several
parts. These parts are the penis, scrotum, testicles, epididymis, vas deferens, ejaculatory ducts,
urethra, seminal vesicles, prostate gland, bulbourethral glands and the bladder (WebMD, 2015).

Muscles in the ureter walls constantly tighten and relax to move urine away from the kidneys.
Tiny quantities of urine are emptied into the bladder from the ureters every ten to fifteen
seconds (LiveScience, 2015). The bladder is a hollow organ found in the pelvis and held in
place by ligaments and the pelvic bone. The bladder holds urine until the brain tells the bladder
that it is ready to be emptied. A healthy bladder can hold up to sixteen ounces of urine
comfortably for two to five hours (WebMD, 2015). . To avoid drainage muscles called sphincters
close firmly around the opening of the bladder into the urethra, the tube that allows urine to pass
outside of the body. The only difference between the male and female urinary system is the length
of the urethra. In females the urethra is about one and half to two inches long and sits between the
clitoris and the vagina (LiveScience, 2015). In males, it runs the length of the penis and is about
eight inches long and opens at the end of the penis (LiveScience,

Some of the possible errors in this lab are:
There might have been some mistakes made while transferring the ingredients from the beaker and
the funnel to the flask and the burret.
The antacid tablets were not crushed properly, resulting in big crumbs of the tablet which will
affect the dissolving process of the lab.
There might have been more KOH solution added to the flask resulting in the observations to be
wrong.
The mixture might have contained more or less than 5 drops of bromophenol blue, which might
have resulted in the indication of the lab.
Not enough attention paid when the solution was changing colours.
The buret might have been leaky resulting in more KOH dropped in the erlenmeyer flask.

were two commonly sold brands examined in this lab which were the Tums and Rolaids. The

solution of KOH was added to it in order to neutralize the solution. The solution turned light blue
when it was neutralized. Both the tablets were neutralized and titrated in the same way. From the

When you dream for it, you will get it is an acclaimed quote of Walt Disney, which is considered as
one of the best motivational quotes. Search for it, you will get it is what Amazon promises with its
latest initiative, which is named as Anticipatory Shipping . Anticipatory shipping is exactly what it
sounds like: Products are shipped to your geographical vicinity before hand, and in some cases
straight away to your door without you actually ordering them. With tremendous growth in
technology, today there are innumerable techniques for companies to improve their offerings and
thereby enhance their odds of garnering customer attention. Amazon, lately, has been the master in

Role of Digital Media in Anticipatory Shipping:
Gone are the days where marketers solely rely on TV or print media to market their products. In
this digital world major part of advertisement budget is allocated to the digital media advertising.
One may think this is the maximum extent to which a company can go to improve its market
presence. But Amazon is undoubtedly way ahead in utilizing digital media for their research. A
quintessential to that is the current idea of Anticipatory Shipping. Even though there are some
loopholes in the whole idea the way they designed the whole structure of this delivery system is
quiet fascinating. They have divided the whole model into two parts
1) Forecasting model
2) Shipping model

How Did King Leopold II Affect Society And Culture
Leopold II of Austria received his title as Holy Roman Emperor Leopold II in 1790 92. His
family s name was Habsburg Lorraine. In 1790 the 43 year old Leopold II accepted the throne.
Leopold II ruled numerous domains. He was the Holy Roman Emperor of Austria, the Grand
Duke of Tuscany, the last King of Bohemia, the king of Hungary, and the king of Croatia.
Leopold II was an emperor that demonstrated absolutism. Pretending to keep what was usable in
Joseph s plan; Leopold instead ignored or cancelled reforms when it was acceptable to oppose his
ideas. However, he kept Joseph s decree of allowing non Catholics more religious freedom. He
also crowned himself king of Bohemia and Hungary, unlike his brother Joseph II. He did not inherit

An example was on November 30, 1786, after he had de facto block capital executions. Leopold
II promoted his reform of abolishing the death penalty and destroyed tools used for execution.
Leopold II affected society and culture because he promulgated culture and study, by erecting
universities, museums and libraries. An example of this is in 1784 he established the
Accademia di Belle Arti, which declared a stop to artistic workshops of mediaeval origin. This
halt caused conflict because some people were not able to educate themselves on mediaeval
beginnings. Leopold II influenced the economy because he moderated his tax systems and
encouraged the expansion of representative institutions. An instance that exemplified this
development was the execution of profitable public works, such as the drainage of the Val di
Chiana. Leopold II was elected emperor after his brother Joseph II died. Joseph II was also Leopold
s predecessor. In 1791 he suffered various ailments. His complaints of hypochondria, which led to
his death, were put down by his family and doctor. Francis II, Leopold s son, was succeeded

Background And Related Work Of Marine Algae Species
Chapter 2: Background and Related Work
Methylation analysis plays an important role in bioinformatics area. It modifies the functions of
DNA and leads to alter the functions of genes in cells. These changes are unidirectional. Hence,
doing research on methylation analysis potentially explain that how complex organisms
characterized by the surprisingly low number of genes (Sette, Ladomery, Ghigna, 2013). Marine
algae species were chosen to do the research, because they are ecologically important and have a
long history of being used as food, medicines and industrial applications. (Raja, Vipin, Aiyappan,
2013) They have been recognized as one of the best species to explain biological diversity.
Approaches used in the research may be extended to analyze other marine organisms as well, since
scientists have found some organisms in ocean that are compounded by microalgae. (El Gamal,
2010).
Another importance of DNA methylation is production of chromatin structure, which leads to
growth of a single cell in an uncontrolled level to a complex multicellular organism. It also causes
the development of cancer. According to new studies, the genes with a promoter region which has
higher ratio of methylated cytosine are transcriptionally silent. Aberrant DNA methylation increases
the rate of malignancy. Mainly there are two types of methylation: hyper methylation which control
the activation of genes, and hypo methylation leads to the development of cancer through various
processes.

Essay On Social Play
Play
Play is important for school functioning as it enables Amelia to connect with peers at
kindergarten while learning social and communication skills (Rigby Rodger, 2006). Direct
observation of Amelia s free play was conducted in the back garden and the Test of Playfulness
(ToP; Bundy et al., 2001) was adopted to examine her degree of playfulness. Amelia participated
in different types of game that predominate in the play of 0 to 7 year olds (Takata, 1974),
including riding bicycle (sensorimotor), making phone calls (functional) and playing doctor
(dramatic). Amelia showed enjoyment during play especially in dramatic play like playing doctor,
which she engaged in for the sheer pleasure of it without any particular goal. However, the ... Show

This play activity was selected because, as suggested previously, the experience of pretend play and
the social interaction involved were Amelia s main source of motivation. In the play transaction the
only relevant human environmental factor to consider is Lily. Lily s response to Amelia s
verbal cues supported the play. However, 3 year old Lily did not contribute ideas to the play and
therefore, Amelia directed the play most of the time whereas in kindergarten, Amelia is expected
to have playmates of similar age that participate in play as equals with her. Furthermore, Amelia s
play would be supervised by her teachers at kindergarten, imposing boundaries that limit play
activities. Regarding the nonhuman environment, the objects seemed to support Amelia s play.
The amount and configuration of space in the garden was physically safe and supportive of play.
In contrast, Amelia engages in pretend play in an indoor playroom with multiple playmates at
kindergarten. The playroom may be clustered and result in limited space for Amelia to engage in
exaggerated behaviours in play. Nevertheless, it may provide access to a wider variety of toys and
materials to support pretend play.
Synthesis and Recommendations Amelia demonstrates competence in all developmental areas. She

The outstanding growth of network technologies in the past decade have contributed to millions of
new applications and industries. Literally millions of companies around the world were created to
serve this huge growth. Even though many of those companies did not survive until the present time
, most of the applications did survive and they are still widely used among consumers of all ages,

2.1.1 Secured Communications
Security and privacy are not new concepts. At 400 BC the Greeks used a transposition cipher.
Individual letters were written on a long thin sheet of paper and then wrapped around a cylinder.
The diameter of the cylinder was the key to find out the original letter. In this context, I find it
necessary to give some definitions of related vocabulary in this field.
Plain text or PT is the original message that we need to send. Usually we do not want others to be
able to know our original message.
Cipher text or CT is the encrypted plain text which is not readable for others.
Encryption is the process of changing a secret message (plain text) into a disguised one (cipher text).
Decryption is the process of changing the Cipher text back to the original Plain text.
Cryptography (literally means secret writing) is the science encompassing the principles and
methods of transforming a PT message into a CT one, and then retransforming that message back to
its original form.
cryptanalysis the study of principles and methods of transforming a CT message back into a PT
message without knowledge of the key. Also called code breaking
cryptology both cryptography and cryptanalysis

Acts Of Deviance From Members Of Our Society
Over the course of four days, I ve observed numerous acts of deviance from members of our
society. The ones that stood out to me the most were as follows...
April 1, 2016 In the Tanger Outlets, I observed a woman deliberately skip a line of at least 10
people. This caused negative spontaneous reactions from everyone in line. As I was waiting in line
to pay for my shirt, a woman walked right ahead of everyone who was already in line and then went
to the next available cashier. Immediately, the first manwho had been waiting called after the
woman. The woman, however, just told the guy that she was in a rush. Soon, everyone else who
was waiting in line expressed their own angry by participating in insulting the woman who skipped
them. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I felt sympathy for the man as well as some other people in line, but also suspicion on what the
man s story was. I felt compelled to know why this man was dressed in this way, but also fearful
of getting too close. Some other people in line looked at the man in disgust, yet no one
volunteered to buy the guy a cupcake. The labeling theory helps to explain why the behavior of the
man who appeared homeless is considered negatively deviant to some people, groups, and cultures
but may be positively deviant to others.
April 3, 2016 When I was at the grocery store, a few other customers and I saw a middle aged
woman put the milk in the cereal aisle. This small act of deviance created an unhappy feeling
among everyone who observed. I believe this because the family who saw the woman do this
began murmuring about what the lady just did. An elderly woman sighed when she saw this as
if in complete disgust at what the woman just did. Personally, i was in agreement with these
head shakes and sighs. I also believed it was ridiculous that the woman didn t have the decency
to put the milk back in the freezers so that it wouldn t go bad. Her action received negative
reactions as she broke a informal sanction found in grocery stores around the globe. This informal
sanction was simply that, as members of society, we should put things back where we found them.
She also broke a formal sanction made by the owner of the grocery store

Narrative Of A Mother Daughter
A tired mother reclines before a long mirror, beginning to prepare her ten year old daughter for
bed. As she works out the last few tangles from her hair, the woman s gaze turns to her reflection
the dulling of her once youthful body palpable in the company of her youthful daughter. Author
Sharon Olds uses the narrative of a mother daughter relationship to address issues of aging, death
and replacement, juxtaposing the youth of a ten year old with the maturity of the thirty five year
old. 35/10 takes readers on one womans journey of sorrow as she copes with the loss of her youth,
but deeper than that, her confrontation with grief as she realizes her daughter will one day
replace her. The woman feels as though she is beginning her life s decline just as her daughter
begins her ascent into womanhood, inquiring, ...Why is it / just as we begin to go / they begin to
arrive... (lines 4 6). Olds takes on the voice of this despondent woman in her poem 35/10, using
rich, honest language and metaphoric comparisonsto communicate observations about the cycle of
life and the pattern of replacement. In the main body of her poem, Olds lists a sequence of three
key metaphoric comparisons between the woman and her daughter s changing bodies. Both
characters are experiencing small previews of their futures through developmental transformations,
the younger a preview of womanhood and the older a preview of aging and ultimately future
replacement. The comparison is made in the same

Interview With A Salvation Army Thrift Store Manager
Interview with the store manager at the Salvation Army Thrift Store
Conducting the interview
For this proposal, I interviewed the Surrey Salvation Army Thrift Store manager, Narmada
Indrasiri. My goal was to discover whether the store raises enough money to help its rehabilitation
program through donations. My interview consisted of questions such as (1) Do you get enough
donations to fulfil store target? (2) Approximately how many donations you get per day? (3) Are
all the donations in good condition to resell? (4) if not, what are the difficulties you have been
facing? (5) How much money spend on the garbage pickup truck?
The results of the personal interview
Narmada Gayathri Indrasiri has been the manager of the Surrey Salvation Army Thrift Store since
it opened in Surrey location in 2012. She volunteered and worked at the thrift store for many years
before she get the management position. She has earned a bachelor s degree in Business

Indrasiri, she said that the incoming donations are definitely not enough for them to achieve their
target budget. Compared to her past experience with the company, she mentioned that the amount
of good donation they get now is incredibly lower than before. She convinced that even though
they get donations from approximately 35 donors per day, not every donation is reusable. Some
of them are going to recycle bins and some unwanted donations end up in their garbage bins. By
virtue of this, their garbage spending has gone up as it does not take much longer to pile up. She
stated that the store alone spends between $900 to $1000 money on dumping their overflowing
garbage bins every month due to unwanted donations and on Mondays the charge is double as the
garbage pickup truck comes twice to empty overflowing trash (N. Indrasiri, personal

Global Warming Has Left Upon Our Natural Environment
Introduction
With July 2013 recorded as one of the worst snowfalls in the history of Australia winters, well
concerned fears are fulminating regarding the future of the ski industry, namely the ski resorts that
reside in the Snowy Mountain region including Thredbo, Perisher, Charlotte s Pass and the Selwyn
Snowfields, and several major Victorian ski resorts including Mt Buller, Mt Hotham and Falls
Creek. The Alps are the only region on the Australian mainland in which deep snowfalls naturally,
however, with the ongoing impact that global warming has left upon our natural environment, it
feels ominously close that the premonition of a snow deprived winter may be as soon as 2050.
More erratic looking winters have confirmed the beliefs of many that the ski industry may not be
viable beyond the mid century mark, given that the ski industry s economic viability is highly
sensitive and contingent on the number of days with good snow cover that are received each
year. According to a government commissioned report, the ski industries initial fears are well
founded with ski seasons to be predicted to be 10 weeks shorter, and the snow depth considerably
declined. While some may reflect upon the 2013 winter and overlook the enormity of the issue,
scientists predict that the impact of global warming means the long term outlook for the ski
industry is bleak, and not positive. Not only does a lack of snowfall presents environmental
consequences, but also poses a series of consequences

Why Gay Marriage Is Constitutional Essay

Marriage is defined as two people bond together legally under the protection of laws. Couples are
able to express and establish their life long relationships officially, publicly, and permanently. Due to
the fact that homosexual relationships are increasingly more accepted by the public, gay marriage

According to DOMA, In determining the meaning of any Act of Congress, or of any ruling,
regulation, or interpretation of the various administrative bureaus and agencies of the United
States, the word marriage means only a legal union between one man and one woman as
husband and wife, and the word spouse refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is a
husband or a wife (sec 3). Until recently 2013, the US Supreme Court finally delivered the
verdict that declared section 3 of the DOMA, which is the rejection of right to gay marriage is
unconstitutional (Shapiro 208). In Gay Marriage Is A Fundamental Right by Nathan Goetting, The
right to many, and to marry the person of one s choice, is a fundamental right and a necessary
aspect of human happiness. This has been an explicitly stated abiding principle since the Court
used its power of judicial review to strike down as unconstitutional a legislature s definition of
marriage in 1967. Currently, 17 states in the United States have legalized the right to same sex
marriage. The realization of DOMA is unconstitutional has further evidenced that gay marriage is
one of the civil right that should not be taken away by the government, and it is an inevitable
changes that open doors for equality and equity.

Analysis Of John Updike s Araby
John Updike s penchant for appropriating great works of literature and giving them contemporary
restatement in his own fiction is abundantly documented as is the fact that, among his favorite
sources, James Joyce looms large.[1]
With special affinity for Dubliners, Updike has, by common acknowledgment, written at least one
short story that strongly resembles the acclaimed Araby, not only in plot and theme, but in
incidental detail. That story, the 1960 You ll Never Know, Dear, How Much I Love You like
Araby tells the tale of a poor, romantically infatuated young boy who, though obstructed by
parental slowness, journeys with innocent urgency, coins in hand, to a seemingly magical carnival

The self delusion in both cases leads quickly to an emotional fall.
At 19, Updike s protagonist, Sammy, is a good bit older than Joyce s at the opposite end of
adolescence, it would seem. While in Joyce s boy we readily believe such confusion between the
gallant and profane, I think we needn t assume that Sammy is likewise unable to distinguish
between the two quite normal impulses. His attraction to the girl in the aisle is certainly far more
anatomically and less ambiguously expressed than that of Joyce s boy to Mangan s sister. But it
is Beauty that confounds the issue. When human aesthetics come into play, when the object of a
young man s carnal desire also gratifies him aesthetically, that is when the confusion arises. in
Irish Catholic Dublin of the 1890s,[3] such youthful beauty not surprisingly invokes analogies
between Mangan s sister and the Queen of Heaven (though the swinging of her body and the soft
rope of her hair toss[ing] from side to side [Joyce 30]), which captivate the boy, hint at something
less spiritual than Madonna worship). And while beauty s benchmarks in Sammy s more secular
mid century America are more anatomical than spiritual, Updike does have Sammy call his young
femme fatal Queenie, and he does make her the center of a trinity of sorts, showing her two
friends at one point huddl[ing] against her for relief ( A P 189).

1.Introduction
Sexual addiction has become rapidly recognized as a significant social problem with similarities
better recognized to drug addiction and alcohol or compulsive gambling. sexual addicts refers to
individuals who engage in persistent, as well as, escalating patterns of sexual behaviour acted out
regardless of the increasingly negative impact to the self and others. To begin with copulation or
coitus, sexual intercourse is the physical union between a man and woman, for reproduction,
sexual pleasure or both. The act involves a high level of physical intimacy and contributes
immensely to human bonding. This is because, sex is associated with emotional and physical
pleasure therefore creating a connection between the people involved. However, some people tend
to overdo the act of sex to a point that they become dependent on it leading to a sexual addiction.
This paper aims at discussing sexual addiction, its causes, effects and characteristics.

According to Carnes (15) sexual addiction is a clinical condition referred to in the medical spheres
as progressive intimacy disorder. The addiction involves spending long periods preoccupied with
sexual thoughts and behaviors all geared towards achieving a desired sexual effect. In the United
States alone, more than thirty million people are in the category of those who suffer from the

Research Paper On Biometrics
SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT
Biometrics is a form of human identification that is used as an advanced security measure.
Biometrics uses distinctive personal traits to uniquely identify humans and eliminates the need for
traditional methods of identification such as the use of personal identification numbers or
passwords.
In technical terms, biometrics is the automated technique of measuring a physical characteristic or
personal trait of an individual and comparing that characteristic or trait to a database for purposes
of recognizing that individual. (WOODWARD, 2005)
Biometrics uses physical characteristics, defined as the things we are, and personal traits, defined as
the things we do, including the following.

Chemical composition of body odor;
Facial features and thermal emissions;
Features of the eye retina and iris;

Contribution Margins for Lewis Company
Contribution Margins for Lewis Company Lewis Company has been using absorption costing to
assess the cost of the modules they manufacture. The use of a variable income statement may
allow the firm to make better decision regarding pricing as it will allow for increased
transparency and easier calculation of the number of units which will need to be solid to break
even. The first stage is to convert the income statement into a contribution statement. Contribution
Statements To prepare the contribution margin statement it is necessary to assess which costs
are variable and which are fixed. The variable costs are those which are incurred as each unit is
produced, varying with the production levels, while the fixed costs remain the same regardless of
the level of production (Bragg, 2012). The foundation of contribution costing is to deduct the
variable costs from the revenue that is realized for each unit sold, this is known as the
contribution as it is this surplus of revenue after variable costs will contribute towards the fixed
costs, and then provide for the profit (Drury, 2006; Watts, 2004). The absorption statement may be

The Bottle-nosed Dolphin Essay
The Bottle nosed Dolphin is the most studied and generally the best known species of dolphin.
Bottle nosed dolphins are classified quot;Tursiops truncates quot; in scientific name, and belong to
the family Delphinidae, in the suborder Odontoceti, order Cetacea.
This animal is a very intelligent individual. Bottle nosed dolphins are commonly found in zoos or
marine parks because of their capability to perform tricks. They can jump through hoops 5 meters
high because of their incredibly powerful tail. As well as jumping, Bottle nosed dolphins can raise
themselves upright out of the water and travel backwards, by threshing their tails.
Bottle nosed dolphins are generally coastal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bottle nosed dolphins live for 30 to 50 years and grow from about a 6 inch calf, up to 10 foot long
mature adult in some cases. The female Bottle nosed dolphin has a gestation period of 12 months
long, after which the mother nurses the calf for about 18 months. During this period, the calf will
learn practical skills such as how to find and capture food, how to recognize other dolphins. Bottle
nosed dolphins have a multimale, multifemale mating society. There no aggression when it comes
to mating from either male or female.
Generally, Bottle nosed dolphins are a dark gray or black colour above, with a lighter colour on its
stomach, which can change to a flushed pink colour in warm water. These animals have a
prominent, curved back fin with a thin trailing edge that readily tatters. The Bottle nosed dolphin
gets its name from its rostrum, which is shaped like a bottle.
Bottle nosed dolphins were hunted in the 19th and 20th century for their skin, but now are a
legally protected species but killings still occurring due to angry fishermen and fishing nets. If this
creature were to of become extinct, I believe there would not of been that greater change because
the Bottle nosed dolphin has no immediate predators and feeds on a wide range of sea life.
Bottle nosed dolphins rarely fight with each other because there is no power to be gained by it.
They communicate by means of whistles and rasping

Coming of Age in Mississippi- Anne Moody
Anne Moody learned about the importance of race early in her life. Having been born and raised
in an impoverished black family from the South, she experienced first hand the disparity in the lives
of Whites and Blacks.
The story begins with Anne as a four year old child watching her parents work everyday for Mr.
Carter, a white plantation owner. She witnessed several black farmers living in rotten, two room
wooden shacks. It was most likely evident to her, even at that early age, that Whites were the
affluent, upper class.
She elucidates her recognition of the difference in living conditions in the following statements:
It seemed as though we were always moving. Every time it was a house on some white man s place
and every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One explanation for her mother s reaction is her hesitancy to engage in discussions about race.
Throughout the text Moody s mother seems to accept her place as an inferior without questioning
the superiority of whites and the issues that racial inequities engender. Her mother s reluctance to
challenge the status quo contributes to Moody s evolving understanding of impact of the racism.
As Anne begins to mature she comes to the stark realization that the existing racial divide is not
simply a difference based on economic disparity but a true statement of inferiority versus
superiority. One experience that manifested this was a visit to a movie theater with some white
friends. Moody was not allowed to sit with the group; she was forced to sit instead in the Jim
Crowe section.
Later in the text Moody received her first job working for a white woman earning two nickels a
week. Her employer also gave her milk, the sour milk that the cats drank from. This insincere
gesture of kindness continued to show Moody that she was not respected as a human being, but
regarded with no higher priority than that of an animal.
In addition to some of the more negative encounters resulting from differences in race explained
above, Moody had positive experiences that informed her understanding of the lives of Whites
compared to the lives of Blacks.
Moody had a white employer by the name of Mrs. Clairborne who treated

Emotional Analysis Of Dodge Ram Trucks
And on the 8th day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, I need a caretaker. So,
God made a farmer. These words from Paul Harvey rang from the home TVs of millions of people
during the 2013 Super Bowl broadcasting. As the 2 minute commercial played, it became one of
the most memorable Super Bowl commercials ever created. Dodge Ramproduced this commercial
not only to advertise their trucks, but also depict the American farmer. Though it didn t
advertise their trucks directly, the Dodge commercial indirectly advertises through describing
the qualities of a farmer in order to show the comparable qualities of their Ram trucks. This is no
ordinary commercial, and it is successful because of its logical, emotional, and ethical appeal to
the audience. The fact that every American watching the commercial relies on farmers gives the
audience a logical way to relate to the importance of farmers. Just like our country relies on
farmers for food, clothing, and other products, the common farmer relies on Dodge Ram trucks
to help them carry out their day to day tasks. The most important task of a farmer being to
provide for the people in their families and well beyond. In order to captivate the audience and
show this, the commercial provides pictures of farmers using a Dodge truck to help them carry out
their daily farm work. In addition to pictures, Dodge shows the reliability and utility of Dodge Ram
trucks through describing their strong, yet gentle quality. This

Done in part for the requirements of BIOL 498 under the supervision of Dr. David Locky Dr.

MacEwan University, Department of Biology.
Abstract: Trophic cascades are powerful forces that have a pronounced effect on ecosystems. They
occur when predation causes shifts in prey dynamics that indirectly lead to enhanced survival in the
next lowest trophic level. Walleye fishing bans at Lac la Biche coinciding with a restocking effort
have led to a large recovery of walleye populations. The increase in populations of a high trophic
level predator should cause shifts in a lower trophic level species (yellow perch) prey preferences
from fish towards invertebrate prey. 576 yellow perch stomach collected from 2009 2013 by
Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development were sent to MacEwan University
for processing/analysis. Yellow perch stomachs will be measured (dry weight, empty weight), and
prey items will be removed identified and weighed. Sampling procedure differs depending on the
type of prey item removed from the stomach (fish, macro and micro invertebrates). Length and
weight measurements will be taken for fish and macro invertebrates; whereas, micro invertebrates
will be sub sampled until 50 100 individuals can be identified. Data will be analyzed using multi

Noninfective Fluid Occur In The Middle Ear
The middle ear, which can be referred to as the Tympanic membrane, is responsible for transmitting
sound waves from the outer ear into the inner ear. It accomplishes this by using three bones which
are called the auditory ossicles. The three bones involved are the Malleus, the incus and stapes.
These bones connect the tympanic membrane (eardrum) to the oval window of the inner ear. Each
bone has a special function in the transmission of vibrations that will be discussed below. Although,
the middle ear is usually good at maintaining balance and free from organisms; it can also be
infected from other factors and complications. The middle ear can be easily infected when foreign
matter enters the canal or the Eustachian tube, which connects to the nasopharynx. This can also
lead to ear infections even if the patient has sinus infection or any upper respiratory infection that
can contribute. Since the nasopharynx connects to the middle ear, drainage and bacteriacan invade

Neo-Confucian And Mongol Dynasties
The Prompt
Throughout China s middle ages, Confucianism and neo Confucianism played a role in how society
and government worked. These influences started during the Song dynasty. When the Mongols
took over, Confucian ideas were carried over to their government making them an even stronger
power. How did Confucian and neo Confucian thought influence the Song and Mongol dynasties?
To begin with, the Song dynasty was one of the first dynasties to use neo Confucianism. This was a
new type of Confucianism that was essentially created to reduce Buddhism s popularity Neo
Confucianism taught that life in this world was just as important as the afterlife (Section 1 page

Allies Bombing Campaign Analysis
This essay will consider four key aspects in order to conclude the significance of the Allies
strategic bombing campaign. While the military impact of the campaign is ultimately the most
important factor, political, economic and social impacts also play key roles. The essay will review
the political situation throughout the campaign. The military impact of the bombing is then
analysed followed by the economic and social costs. The essay will evaluate the bombing campaign
s contribution to the overall war effort.
The political significance for the Allies of the bombing campaign cannot be overstated. After the
British armies retreated from Dunkirk, the only way that the British government could show their

This was because the bombing was not accurate enough in order to cause much damage to the
targeted areas. This meant that the repair rate for the German economy far outstripped the
destruction rate caused by the Allied bombs. However, this changed when Churchill ordered an
offensive specifically targeting industrial areas in the Summer of 1940. The directive of the
campaign was to bring about the progressive destruction and dislocation of the military, industrial
and economic system . That meant that Bomber Command s main focus was the industrial and
economic centres of Germany. Once the Allies where able to bring effective attacks against
industrial areas, the Germans where unable to repair all the damaged infrastructure in a timely
manner. This tactic of attacking economic areas came to the fore with the Operation Gomorrah ,
the attack on Hamburg that caused citywide devastation. The German Armaments Minister Speer
said, six more Hamburgs will end the war. That statement shows that by July 1943, the German
economy was already feeling the strain from near continuous bombing raids. Steel production fell
by 200,000 tons in the second quarter of 1943. After the previously mentioned raid against the ball
bearing factory in Schweinfurt, the output of that factory was reduced by 67%. In May 1944, with

The Adventures of Ibn Battuta by Ross E. Dunn
The book I chose to read for this summer assignment was The Adventures of Ibn Battuta (Revised
edition) written by Ross E. Dunn. The predominant reason as to why I chose this book is because
I am Moroccan descent and I had a strong desire to learn more about the rich cultures of the Arab
world. I once read that those who had the last name Bencomo, which was orginally from the Canary
Islands and written as Tehncomo were descendents of the Islamic traveler, Ibn Battuta. This sparked
even more curiosity to learn about my ancestor s history. I heard stories from my grandmother
about the Moors since her father was half Moroccan. I knew I had to learn about this since this is
a part of who I am.
This book mainly narrates the adventures and travels of a 14th century Muslim scholar, native of
Tangier who studied law but dreamed of traveling and seeing different perspectives of the world.
Ibn is described by many as the Marco Polo of the Muslim world. Ibn traveled by all means
possible during his time period, horse, camel, boat, foot, and boat for approximately 29 years.
The area he covered would now be the equivalent to 40 modern countries and 73,000 miles.
Quotes I found most interesting were A scholar s education is greatly improved by traveling in
quest of knowledge and meeting the authoritative teachers (of his time). by Ibn Khaldun pg. 27.
This was quite inspiring because it shows that with an open mind and many travels you can age
with wisdom and share your knowledge with

Native American Colonization
Shortly following Columbus s encounter with the new world in 1492, European settlers would
make the long journey to North America in hopes of land, riches, and freedom. However, little did
they consider the lives of the Native Americans, who had been there long before Columbus s
discovery , or how they would disrupt their ancient customs and way of life. Upon the arrival of the
Europeans, the Native Americans were experiencing an agricultural revolution, where tribes all
across the United Stateswere becoming more sedentary, as well as developing new sources of food,
clothing, and shelter. With the intrusion of the influx of Europeans, however, all of this was
disrupted with their selfish and incognizant actions. The English tended to oppress Native
Americans both economically and culturally by denying their potential contributions to help grow
settlements in the New World. In contrast, the French developed peaceful, mutually beneficial
relations with Native Americans in the establishment of the French fur tradeand culturally
befriended them. With England s growing economic problems due to frequent, costly European
wars, and harsh manoralism in the countryside, the New World seemed like a place where English
settlement could start anew, and create a perfect, cohesive society, unlike that of the flawed Old
World. From the beginning of their intrusion in North America, English settlers sought to expand
English rule and law over the Indians, who they referred to as

The Principles And Practices Of Differential Diagnosis Of...
A disorder in bilinguals is not caused by bilingualism or cured by monolingualism (Kohnert,
2013). A common misconception about bilingual children is that the acquisition of subsequent
languages causes or exacerbates a speech sound disorder. I intended to prove that this is not the
case. In order to do this I will firstly clarify the principles and practices of differential diagnosis of
Speech Sound Disorders and the possible models used. I then intend to compare and contrast
monolingualism and bilingualism with reference to Speech Sound disorders. Throughout, I will
relate the information back to Jane and the data provided before finally discussing possible
assessments for Jane.
What is a Speech Sound Disorder? There is a myriad of definitions and ways to describe disordered
speech. To put it simply; speech is the physical production of sounds through a series of air
pressure waves in the vocal tract. A disorder is a difficulty or the manner in which speech is not
found in typically developing children (Pert Stow, 2015). The term Speech Sound Disorder is very
much a generic label. It encompasses a heterogeneous population including children whose speech
is intelligible but may have a lisp. It also includes those whose speech is incomprehensible due to
omissions and substitutions of certain phonemes and people born with anatomical abnormalities
such as cleft palate. (Dodd, Differential Diagnosis and Treatment of Children With Speech Disorder
, 2005) These are just a

  • 2. The Biblical Warning Of God We all have that concept of evil. Each religion has that dark figure that beckons enticingly to pull us from the path of whatever deity we ve devoted ourselves to. Lucifer for the Judeo Christians, Iblees for the Muslims, Mara for the Buddhists; whatever one calls it, there is evil that looks to sway people from their path of faith. So of course we as people, feel the need to set up defenses to prevent such a thing. The biblical warning that Your adversary the Devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour (1 Peter 5:8) made the Devil an even more horrifying. (The Horrors of Witchcraft and Demonic Possession, Brian P. Levak) figure, while the prophecies in RevelationWe pray, we participate in religious rituals, and we even sometimes tailor our lifestyles to fit a righteous one to please the god chosen and keep away the evil that we so fear. That s easy to do when the Evil is just a scary image, but how can we possibly take precautions when suddenly that Evil can inhabit us whether we resist or not. No matter how different we are from each other, Demonic Possession is something that all cultures seem to have, with their own remedies to the issue. The concept of demonic possession is something that s existed for an unclear amount of time. The Bible alludes to many instances of demons being driven out of people and the Qur an tells of Jinns inhabiting the bodies of humans as well. • 3. Microaggression Essay Hi classmates, Here is my respond to the following questions: 1.Describe a time you committed a microaggression: I remember the incident during my stay in Spain. My friends introduced me to their friends and their families. My reaction to the greeting first alerted them, and then became the general fun, but I understand that for my part it was exactly a microaggression. At the moment of greeting, a person leanin towards you and thrice touches your cheek with his/her cheek, imitating a kiss, and you should greet this way with everyone. My first reaction I pulled away. The closest friend of my acquaintances perceived my reaction as a personal dislike. a)What was the underlying message? Please, do not touch me. It is my personal space. I do not cuddle, kissing with people I do not know. b)How did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the other days, I had to communicate with a large group of people in business and in a more informal atmosphere and I was glad that I had prepared for this in advance and was ready to respond to the situation. Regardless of which country I am in, if possible I try to learn as much as possible about the very small things that really mean a lot. Ordinary greetings with new people, a good example of what I mean. 2.Describe a time you experienced a microaggression: Because English is my second language; most microaggressions are associated with this. Oh, you got an accent, are not you an American? Do you live in this country and do not speak English? Often in my face people express their attitude to the whole nation, to which I belong. a) What was the underlying message? You are not like us. What are you doing here? You are less intelligent. You are from a wild strange country b) How did you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. How My Life Has Changed My Outlook On Life Did you ever think that your life could change from one minute to the next? I sat on the couch waiting for the news that would change my outlook on life. I had a pit in my stomach before there was even news to tell. I knew this news was coming for a long time, but I did not know how. My world was going how any 15 year old would want it to go. A loving family, nice friends, and all the free time in the world. What I did not know was that was all about to change. I was laying on the couch with my head buried deep in the cushions. Almost like that would shield me from the news I was about to receive. Goosebumps started to appear on my arms and tear drops rose in my eyes. I heard the door knob turn, and I knew my mom was home. Picking my head up from out of the cushions, was like picking up a boulder with my bare hands. Before this point in time my life was basic. There was six people in the room when the news was dropped. Each person was on the edge of their seat already anticipating the news my mom was about to speak. We all sat in the living room which could comfortably fit all of us. However, this time was different. All the seats were filled with heavy hearts. My mom said guys, I have something to tell you . Seconds following that statement my Mom mom broke down into tears. Seeing someone you love cry really pulls on your heart. The silence told it all. Something tragic has happened to our family. The living room that held six people was terribly silent. • 8. Self Reflexive Aspects of Singing in the Rain Essay Singin in the Rain (MGM, 1952) is an American musical comedy directed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen. The film comically emulates the transition from the production of silent movies to talkies in Hollywood during the 1920s. The narrative follows a successful silent film star named Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) and his glamorous blonde on screen partner Lina Lamont as they attempt to adapt The Duelling Cavalier a silent film, into a talking film. However, the shrill sound of Lamont s voice cast serious doubt of the potential success of the film. Lockwood s musically talented sidekick Cosmo Brown (Donald O conner) suggests that the film be turned into a musical, and recommends Lockwood s love interest Kathy Seldon (Debbie Reynolds) perform... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the conclusion of the musical number Cosmo flips off the illusionary backdrop of a hallway. This example demonstrates how the text reflects its own making and works to demystify the illusions of Hollywood. The back stage pass that is granted to audience uncovers the modes of Hollywood production and replaces it with musical performances. Throughout Singin in the Rain self referential techniques are employed to signal to the audience that the film is a metafictional text. The text consciously advises the audience that what they are watching is not real, consequently disrupting the illusion of the fourth wall. Ingersoll (1999, p.385) describes metafiction as a fictional text that draws attention to itself as a text in a variety of ways . An example of this can be identified during the opening scene when Don Lockwood explains his rise to fame story. The character looks directly into the camera as he speaks, breaking the illusion of the fourth wall and acknowledging the audiences existence. This technique is markedly different from the established convention of the audience eaves dropping on characters that ordinarily function within a three walled environment (Auter amp; Davis 1991, p.165). Singin in the Rain acknowledges the audience and itself as a work of fiction self referentially, as a result the audience are no longer voyeuristically watching, they are being spoken to. • 10. Television And Radio Ratings Data Television and radio ratings data are used primarily to assist decision making with regard to advertising, programming, financial analysis, and policy making, all of which have significant economic or social implications. It is important to realise that audience measurement is a business; the firms involved are intent on using their analysis to make money. This essay will discuss why ratings are used, what ratings actually measure, specific to radio audience ratings, and the extent to which this information provides a satisfactory understanding of broadcast audiences. It will be seen that ratings do not usually generate any deep understanding of why people are listening to particular programmes, but do capture audience size and make up reasonably well. It is the responsibility of broadcasters to understand their audience in order to effectively grow it. Radio and television ratings measure various aspects of the broadcast audience, from how many people are in an audience, their demographic make up and sometimes their preferences, with the objective of gaining understandings which will help the broadcaster to grow audience participation and loyalty. The reality is, though, that little true understanding of audience preferences is gained. The understandings which are gained are often superficial, but sufficient to support business decision making, particularly around advertising. As will be seen, the extent to which ratings generate understanding of audience is all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The country of Rwanda comprises an old kingdom that spanned several hundreds of years, established, ruled and ran by a people who spoke the language Kinyarwanda. Within its years, these people split into two groups namely the Hutu and the Tutsi. History.com, A E Television Networks, 2009, www.history.com/topics/columbine high school shootings. 27 November 2017 The source from history.com describes the Columbine incident by Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris. They killed twelve students and a teacher with semiautomatic guns. Then when the SWAT team arrived at the school at around 3:00 PM, the dead bodies of the gunmen were found in the school. The gunmen committed suicide at around noon and twenty three injured students were evacuated out of the school and into the hospital. Following the incident, an investigation was done on the motives of the shooters. It was suspected that the gunmen primarily targeted athletes, minorities and Christians. It was reported that a student Cassie Bernall was shot to death because she said she believed in god when asked by one of the gunmen. However, it was later determined that the shooters randomly chose their targets and had intended on bombing the cafeteria to potentially take hundreds of lives. Thankfully, the bombs never went off. It was discovered the Klebold and Harris regularly played DOOM, which was the most violent video gameat the time. The debate on whether video games influenced the individuals who performed these horrendous acts kick started with the Columbine massacre. Social learning theory proposes that social learning occurs when the individual views a modeled behavior that they value, observes an act if the model has a role model or admired status, and when a person imitates a learned behavior (Bandura, Ribes Inesta, 1976). The basic foundations of the theory are applied to education policies, understanding psychological disorders, training courses, behavioral modeling, in the media and has a plethora of further applications in today s society. Another application of the theory is for criminals, violenceand aggression. Children between the ages of three and six were brought in to a room with an adult in one corner and the child in the other. The child s side contained fun activities while the adult s side contained a toy set, a mallet and a Bobo doll. The child was told that the toys in the adult corner were only for the adults. In three different groups, children were either subjected to an aggressive adult that would punch and kick the Bobo doll, a non aggressive adult that would play with the small toys and ignored the Bobo doll and another group where no adult was present. After the ten minute session the child was brought into another room with many toys and after only two minutes, the child is told that they are no longer allowed to play with those toys. The frustrated children were then brought back into the first room, where the experiment sought to measure the physical and verbal aggression, the amount of times the mallet was used as other forms of aggression and other forms of aggression that did not show imitation of the original adult. The experiment found that children exposed to the aggressive adult were more likely to act more aggressively than the others. The study also found that boys were much more likely to be aggressive and that imitation increased when the model was of the same sex (Bandura, Ross, Ross, 1961). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. ##ry And Metaphors In Roethke s Elegy For Jane Ariel Haskins Elegy for Jane Two of the most beautiful combinations, to me, are the use of imagery and metaphors. With the use of these two figures of speech the reader is able to paint a complete, detail picture in their from the piece they are reading. In Elegy for Jane , the speaker is standing over the grave of a student, Jane, of his who fell of a horse to her death. Roethke uses imagery and diction, among other figures of speech, to help the reader picture the young Jane that he loved and knew by using nature to make the connection. Roethke goes on throughout the poem to compare Jane to various types of birds, sceneries, feelings and aspects of nature by not only explaining her physical attributes but her personality as well. This poem struck my curiosity immediately. My first thought was, Wow, this man ha a deep love and admiration for Jane. I couldn t understand how a teacher was able to understand and care for a student that much. Roethke s use of detail through diction and imagery paints a vivid picture of Jane, almost as if she was standing in front of you, making the reader ponder the dynamics of the relationship between Jane her this teacher. The poem opens with Roethke describing Jane s exterior in the first lines: I remember the neckcurls, limp and damp as tendrils; And her quick look, a sidelong pickerel smile; ( 1 2 ) By using the simile limp and damp as tendrils and the metaphor sidelong pickerel smile, I began to visualize Jane, sitting at a ... To the Hebrew people, their exile to Babylonia and the destruction of the First Temple was brought on because they had displeased Yahweh by not following his laws and by not living a lifestyle devoted to him. Once the Hebrews reached the land of Canaan, division splintered them into eleven tribes, but with war constantly occurring in the neighboring nations, the Israelitessoon realized they had to unite if the Jewish people and religion were going to survive: The eleven Hebrew tribes were united under one king. The Kingdom of Israelprospered for a short time and under the rule of King David and the aid of his son Solomon the First Temple was constructed as a home for Yahweh. But when Solomon died, the Kingdom of Israel splintered again into the northern and southern kingdoms. • 17. Atomic Bombs Were Dropped On The Japanese Cities Of... Two atomic bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August of 1945. This decision brought about many consequences on both Americans and Japanese. By the 1940s the creation of atomic weaponry became possible because of Italian scientists Enrico Fermi s discovery of the radioactivity of uranium in the 1930s (Brinkley 638). Eventually this spread to the United States, and it was undertaken by military. President Harry Truman issued an ultimatum to the Japanese, demanding that they surrender by August 3 or face utter devastation. When the Japanese failed to meet the deadline, Truman ordered the air force to use the new atomic weapons against Japan (Brinkley 638). The problem at hand is how the Americans and Japanese dealt with the aftermath of the atomic bombings and how it shaped these countries. The context of this decision will also be brought up. The effects of the Atomic Bomb in Japan were debilitating, not only was the enemy defeated but so were women, children and other civilians. Many people questioned if the bombings were justified considered the consequences. The atomic bomb on Hiroshima caused 80,000 deaths and the bomb at Nagasaki caused 100,000 deaths; with the effects of the radiation continued to cause even more harm (Brinkley 639). These numbers caused shock within the Japanese and American communities; considering this was the first time that the bomb was used on urban populations. There was a calculated 368,259 survivors ... It modifies the functions of DNA and leads to alter the functions of genes in cells. These changes are unidirectional. Hence, doing research on methylation analysis potentially explain that how complex organisms characterized by the surprisingly low number of genes (Sette, Ladomery, Ghigna, 2013). Marine algae species were chosen to do the research, because they are ecologically important and have a long history of being used as food, medicines and industrial applications. Approaches used in the research may be extended to analyze other marine organisms as well, since scientists have found some organisms in ocean that are compounded by microalgae. (El Gamal, 2010). Another importance of DNA methylation is production of chromatin structure, which leads to growth of a single cell in an uncontrolled level to a complex multicellular organism. It also causes the development of cancer. According to new studies, the genes with a promoter region which has higher ratio of methylated cytosine are transcriptionally silent. Aberrant DNA methylation increases the rate of malignancy. That story, the 1960 You ll Never Know, Dear, How Much I Love You like Araby tells the tale of a poor, romantically infatuated young boy who, though obstructed by parental slowness, journeys with innocent urgency, coins in hand, to a seemingly magical carnival only to find there, behind its facades, ... His attraction to the girl in the aisle is certainly far more anatomically and less ambiguously expressed than that of Joyce s boy to Mangan s sister. But it is Beauty that confounds the issue. When human aesthetics come into play, when the object of a young man s carnal desire also gratifies him aesthetically, that is when the confusion arises. in Irish Catholic Dublin of the 1890s,[3] such youthful beauty not surprisingly invokes analogies between Mangan s sister and the Queen of Heaven (though the swinging of her body and the soft rope of her hair toss[ing] from side to side [Joyce 30]), which captivate the boy, hint at something less spiritual than Madonna worship). The use of a variable income statement may allow the firm to make better decision regarding pricing as it will allow for increased transparency and easier calculation of the number of units which will need to be solid to break even. The first stage is to convert the income statement into a contribution statement. Contribution Statements To prepare the contribution margin statement it is necessary to assess which costs are variable and which are fixed. The variable costs are those which are incurred as each unit is produced, varying with the production levels, while the fixed costs remain the same regardless of the level of production (Bragg, 2012). The foundation of contribution costing is to deduct the variable costs from the revenue that is realized for each unit sold, this is known as the contribution as it is this surplus of revenue after variable costs will contribute towards the fixed costs, and then provide for the profit (Drury, 2006; Watts, 2004). • 43. Coming of Age in Mississippi- Anne Moody Anne Moody learned about the importance of race early in her life. Having been born and raised in an impoverished black family from the South, she experienced first hand the disparity in the lives of Whites and Blacks. The story begins with Anne as a four year old child watching her parents work everyday for Mr. Carter, a white plantation owner. She witnessed several black farmers living in rotten, two room wooden shacks. It was most likely evident to her, even at that early age, that Whites were the affluent, upper class. She elucidates her recognition of the difference in living conditions in the following statements: It seemed as though we were always moving. Every time it was a house on some white man s place and every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One explanation for her mother s reaction is her hesitancy to engage in discussions about race. Throughout the text Moody s mother seems to accept her place as an inferior without questioning the superiority of whites and the issues that racial inequities engender. Her mother s reluctance to challenge the status quo contributes to Moody s evolving understanding of impact of the racism. As Anne begins to mature she comes to the stark realization that the existing racial divide is not simply a difference based on economic disparity but a true statement of inferiority versus superiority. One experience that manifested this was a visit to a movie theater with some white friends. Moody was not allowed to sit with the group; she was forced to sit instead in the Jim Crowe section. Later in the text Moody received her first job working for a white woman earning two nickels a week. Her employer also gave her milk, the sour milk that the cats drank from. This insincere gesture of kindness continued to show Moody that she was not respected as a human being, but regarded with no higher priority than that of an animal. In addition to some of the more negative encounters resulting from differences in race explained above, Moody had positive experiences that informed her understanding of the lives of Whites compared to the lives of Blacks. MacEwan University, Department of Biology. Abstract: Trophic cascades are powerful forces that have a pronounced effect on ecosystems. They occur when predation causes shifts in prey dynamics that indirectly lead to enhanced survival in the next lowest trophic level. Walleye fishing bans at Lac la Biche coinciding with a restocking effort have led to a large recovery of walleye populations. The increase in populations of a high trophic level predator should cause shifts in a lower trophic level species (yellow perch) prey preferences from fish towards invertebrate prey. 576 yellow perch stomach collected from 2009 2013 by Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development were sent to MacEwan University for processing/analysis. Yellow perch stomachs will be measured (dry weight, empty weight), and prey items will be removed identified and weighed. Sampling procedure differs depending on the type of prey item removed from the stomach (fish, macro and micro invertebrates). Noninfective Fluid Occur In The Middle Ear The middle ear, which can be referred to as the Tympanic membrane, is responsible for transmitting sound waves from the outer ear into the inner ear. It accomplishes this by using three bones which are called the auditory ossicles. The three bones involved are the Malleus, the incus and stapes. These bones connect the tympanic membrane (eardrum) to the oval window of the inner ear. Each bone has a special function in the transmission of vibrations that will be discussed below. Although, the middle ear is usually good at maintaining balance and free from organisms; it can also be infected from other factors and complications. The middle ear can be easily infected when foreign matter enters the canal or the Eustachian tube, which connects to the nasopharynx. This was because the bombing was not accurate enough in order to cause much damage to the targeted areas. This meant that the repair rate for the German economy far outstripped the destruction rate caused by the Allied bombs. However, this changed when Churchill ordered an offensive specifically targeting industrial areas in the Summer of 1940. The directive of the campaign was to bring about the progressive destruction and dislocation of the military, industrial and economic system . That meant that Bomber Command s main focus was the industrial and economic centres of Germany. Once the Allies where able to bring effective attacks against industrial areas, the Germans where unable to repair all the damaged infrastructure in a timely manner. This tactic of attacking economic areas came to the fore with the Operation Gomorrah , the attack on Hamburg that caused citywide devastation. The German Armaments Minister Speer said, six more Hamburgs will end the war. • 49. The Adventures of Ibn Battuta by Ross E. Dunn The book I chose to read for this summer assignment was The Adventures of Ibn Battuta (Revised edition) written by Ross E. Dunn. The predominant reason as to why I chose this book is because I am Moroccan descent and I had a strong desire to learn more about the rich cultures of the Arab world. I once read that those who had the last name Bencomo, which was orginally from the Canary Islands and written as Tehncomo were descendents of the Islamic traveler, Ibn Battuta. This sparked even more curiosity to learn about my ancestor s history. I heard stories from my grandmother about the Moors since her father was half Moroccan. I knew I had to learn about this since this is a part of who I am. This book mainly narrates the adventures and travels of a 14th century Muslim scholar, native of Tangier who studied law but dreamed of traveling and seeing different perspectives of the world. Ibn is described by many as the Marco Polo of the Muslim world. Ibn traveled by all means possible during his time period, horse, camel, boat, foot, and boat for approximately 29 years. The area he covered would now be the equivalent to 40 modern countries and 73,000 miles. Quotes I found most interesting were A scholar s education is greatly improved by traveling in quest of knowledge and meeting the authoritative teachers (of his time). by Ibn Khaldun pg. 27. This was quite inspiring because it shows that with an open mind and many travels you can age with wisdom and share your knowledge with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Native American Colonization Shortly following Columbus s encounter with the new world in 1492, European settlers would make the long journey to North America in hopes of land, riches, and freedom. However, little did they consider the lives of the Native Americans, who had been there long before Columbus s discovery , or how they would disrupt their ancient customs and way of life. Upon the arrival of the Europeans, the Native Americans were experiencing an agricultural revolution, where tribes all across the United Stateswere becoming more sedentary, as well as developing new sources of food, clothing, and shelter. With the intrusion of the influx of Europeans, however, all of this was disrupted with their selfish and incognizant actions. The English tended to oppress Native Americans both economically and culturally by denying their potential contributions to help grow settlements in the New World. In contrast, the French developed peaceful, mutually beneficial relations with Native Americans in the establishment of the French fur tradeand culturally befriended them. With England s growing economic problems due to frequent, costly European wars, and harsh manoralism in the countryside, the New World seemed like a place where English settlement could start anew, and create a perfect, cohesive society, unlike that of the flawed Old World. A common misconception about bilingual children is that the acquisition of subsequent languages causes or exacerbates a speech sound disorder. I intended to prove that this is not the case. In order to do this I will firstly clarify the principles and practices of differential diagnosis of Speech Sound Disorders and the possible models used. I then intend to compare and contrast monolingualism and bilingualism with reference to Speech Sound disorders. There is a myriad of definitions and ways to describe disordered speech. To put it simply; speech is the physical production of sounds through a series of air pressure waves in the vocal tract. A disorder is a difficulty or the manner in which speech is not found in typically developing children (Pert Stow, 2015). The term Speech Sound Disorder is very much a generic label. It encompasses a heterogeneous population including children whose speech is intelligible but may have a lisp.
