Customer Service At Dunmore Home Improvement Essay
Dunmore Home Improvement Philosophy
Customer service here at Dunmore Home Improvements is not just a person sitting at a desk,
answering a phone and directing the caller. We believe customer service needs to be embedded in all
aspects of our company principles and seen as an opportunity to gain achieving tactical economical
advantage.
So what does this mean? From the first phone call to our last interaction with the customer we want
them to feel as this has been the best experience possible. It begins with our face of the company. That
could be a greeter at the front door, or our team member answering a phone call. At that initial point of
contact it is our goal to invite the customer in to a friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating
atmosphere. Secondly, we want all internal customers to assist our external customers with any help or
guidance they need without making them feel as if they have inconvenienced us. Listening to our
customers will help improve the customer experience and lead to quicker solutions. Finally, we want
our customers to not only come back, but to promote our business through word of mouth. That is
where we will gain our economic advantage. It s 5 times harder to get a new client than it is to get
repeat business from an existing client (Sivers). We need to utilize all aspects of customer service to
not only retain the customers we do have but also to create an experience that invites new customers
to our store.
Internally, we want to motivate

Fedor Argumentative Essay
Fedor Emelianenko said this to a reporter before a fight, Years ago we hardly had anything to eat. Now
I have more money and I see every opponent as a man that is trying to put me back into that poorer
period. That man has to be eliminated. He was undefeated for twenty seven fights in a row while
fighting under the Pride Fighting Championship banner. Fedor gave his full potential in everything he
did. So how far can you take your full potential like him? His career professionally started on May 21,
2000. He won his first four fights, one of them being one of the toughest fights in his career against
the ADCC heavyweight champ, Ricardo Arona. His first loss to Tsuyoshi Kohsaka on December

Essay on Contemporary Choral Music
Contemporary Choral Compositions
Most people that live in the modern generation view choral music as old, boring harmonies whose
composers died with kings. However, choral music is not just for the elderly singing hymns
apathetically in the church pews on Sunday morning. Though the perception of it remains
unenthusiastic among common listeners, the life of choral music is not as dead or boring as most
would assume. Choral music is made modern, enjoyable, and vibrant through the works of
contemporary composers. Although it is not as recognized in modern generations, brilliant vocal
compositions and composers still exist today.
Two of the most recognized composers of contemporary choral music today are Morten Lauridsen and
Eric Whitacre. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While reading love poems, Lauridsen became increasingly intrigued by the symbolic image of flames
that recurred within the context. I decided to compose an intensely dramatic cycle based on
Renaissance love poems employing this fire motive while blending stylistic musical features of the
period with contemporary compositional idiom, says Lauridsen.
The musical textures of this composition are replete with Renaissance techniques, including word
painting, modality, intricate counterpoint, and bold harmonies unified by what Lauridsen terms the fire
chord, a minor triad with an added major seventh. The six movements of Madrigali, in order, include
Ov è, Lass , Il Bel Viso?, Quando Son Più Lontan, Amor, Io Sento L Alma, Io Piango, Luci Serene e
Chiare, and Se per Havervi, Oimè. In the final movement, Se per Havervi, Oimè, the text translates to:
If, alas, when I gave you my heart,
There was born in me that passion,
Cruel Lady, which burns me everywhere
So that I am all aflame,
And if, loving you, bitter torment
Makes me die of sorrow,
Wretched me! What shall I do
Without you who are my every joy?
[Play Madrigali] Lauridsen explains, I wanted this music to emanate (like ripples from a pebble
thrown into a pond) from a single, primal sonority; one dramatic chord that would encapsulate the
intensity of the entire cycle and which would provide a musical motivic unity to

Nectar In A Sieve Essay
Nectar in a Sieve
Kamala Purnaiya Taylor is an Indian novelist and journalist from Mysore in southern India. Being a
very private person in nature, her literature is usually written under the pseudonym of Kamala
Markandaya. After studying history at the University of Madras, she worked as a journalist and
published short stories in Indian newspapers. A couple of years after she immigrated to England with
her English husband, Markandaya published her first novel, Nectar in the Sieve.
This novel won several awards, was chosen as a Book of the Month Club Main Selection in the United
States, and the American Library Association named it a notable book in 1955. Despite her success,
Markandaya remained an extremely private person, revealing little about her personal life and
influences. Even so, insight can be gained into her work by evaluating the religious, political, and
social contexts of her writing.
Having been raised in India as a Hindu Brahmin, in her work, Markandaya addresses a fundamental
question of Hindu belief: What does it mean to be human? Her Hindu beliefs, and traditions are
central to Nectar in a Sieve, and remnants of the epic Ramayana, one of the best loved Indian
folktales, are also woven throughout the novel. Markandaya shapes Rukmani, the main character in

Animal can be abused by how you treat them, but what has that animal ever did to you that would
want you to kill it, There are stories about human abuse, but has there ever been a person who would
worry about their pets that they can also get abused, Whenever you look at an animal s eyes would
you ever think that they have feelings that they to also suffer as you do. Everyone has feelings same as
animals just to look at their face or eyes you would know about how they feel, Animals can feel pain
and suffer just as humans can but since sociopaths have a general inability to empathise, they are able
to inflict pain and urgency on sentient beings with no feelings of remorse the increasing probability
that cruelty to humans is the next step. The quote that stands out is (This is a personal issue for me

Public Service Is A High Calling
Public service is a high calling. A calling that certain individuals who are compassionate and
enthusiastic about serving their communities at large are willing to dedicate their profession and skills
to. Although there are many challenges in managing a public organization, great leaders are those who
have taken this opportunity and have inspired their work to be bigger than themselves in hopes to
motivate those around them to do good work. The development of our societies depends on the efforts
of the public sector such as education, environmental services, health and social care, that are
fundamental to peoples lives. Therefore, it is important that an effective leader in the public sector
who is much more than knowing the job and how to manage workloads and staff. There are many
behaviors and traits that have been linked to successful leaders, and more specifically, those who have
dedicated their careers to the public.
Leadership is formally defined as the exercise of authority, whether formal or informal, in directing
and coordinating the work of others (Shafritz, Russell and Borick, 361). However, challenges surfaced
in the public sector such as overcoming political and governmental pressures, inadequate training of
staff, high employee turnover, and possibly weak management skills in lower levels causes front
runners to jump through several more hoops than a leader working in a private organization. That is
why it takes a special individual who exuberates

Obedience To Authority In Cool Hand Luke
*There are many movies that make the contrast of the lives of prisoners and their guards. So often do
we see a colorful group of people who struggle under the control of a tyrannical leader, struggling to
keep both their spirits and sanity up. Cool Hand Luke is not an exception to these films. However, it
does contain a main character with a nonchalant type attitude that irks his superiors and earns respect
from his fellow prisoners, which is not often seen. This leads to him becoming a very popular
character in the prison, specifically to his new admirer Dragline. Dragline the former head honcho
among the prisoners grew quite fond of Luke due to his admiration for Luke s coolness. This new
relationship would cause Dragline as well as Luke ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These situations would most often be caused by the hierarchical structure amongst the inmates rather
than, between them and the guards. In my essay I will show how the rise in power by Luke and the
drop in power of Dragline exhibit themes of obedience to authority, conformity and non conformity.*
Before Luke came around Dragline played the role of the boss beneath the bosses. He would keep
people in line, resulting in him and the guards having an unspoken understanding. He conforms to
rules and standards he is expected to and the other inmates follow suit. This shows when the new
inmates (including Luke) showed up, and one of them gets scammed into buying a better job that does
not exist. He tells the boss he made a deal with the inmate only to find out it wasn t real and gets a
night in the box. Dragline believes he deserved it, stating he back sassed a free man, they got their
rules and we ain t got nothing to do with that. He gotta learn the rules the same as anybody else.
(Rosenberg, Caroll, 1967). These are the type of situations that have given Dragline the type of power
he possess. If he complies with what his authorities tell him to, he himself will gain some sort of
power over people beneath

Theme Of Spirit In Lucille Clifton s There Is A Girl Inside
Lucille Clifton s There is a girl inside , teaches the reader to never let old age influence one s spirit and
portrays this by using Clifton s own spirit as an example.
Clifton first introduces her message by representing her childhood spirit as a girl inside of her own
body. The narrator then shows the little girl s determination to not be changed by age. Clifton s first
few lines of the poem starts with a description of the girl that lives inside her. Clifton relates the girl
inside of her to a wolf to emphasize the girl s energetic and strong characteristic. This is important to
the poem because it displays that Clifton s spirit is still lively and active, regarding her age. In the next
few lines, the narrator says, She will not walk away/ and leave these bones/ to and old woman (ln. 3
5). This quote implies that Clifton s spirit (the girl) is determined to maintain young and lively while
Cliftons physical body does not. This quote is important because it shows that a strong spirit is needed
to not be internally influenced by age. Cliftons inner self is fighting against her physical self, which
contributes towards Cliftons advice to never let age take over spirit.
Furthermore, Clifton explains that the girl inside of her is special and unique to emphasize that Clifton
s spirit has not changed. Making the reader understand that Clifton s spirit is special and unique is
important because it emphasizes that the girl is different from her aging body. The narrator says, She
is a green tree/in a forest of kindling (ln. 6 7) to portray the little girls uniqueness. A green tree in a
forest of kindling uses irony to emphasize the little girls uniqueness. This is ironic because it would be
against people s expectations to find a tree in a forest of small kindling. The speaker adds, She is a
green girl/in a used poet (ln. 8 9). Clifton organized this stanza to make the first two lines be reflective
of the last two lines in the stanza. This quote is related to the previous two lines in the poem and
implies what being a green girl in a used poet means. Being a green girl in a used poet means that
Clifton s spirit is what stands out about her, and Clifton s body is just the body of a poet.
Clifton furthers her

The Drug Crime Link Between Crime And Crime
There is a popular widespread belief in the media, politics and society that illegal drugs and addiction
to illegal drugs, in general, is the cause of a significant proportion of crime (Seddon, 2000). This idea
has exerted an increasingly strong hold on drug policies around the world (Bean, 2008), including
New Zealand. The drug crime link refers to the argument that crime is one of, if not the major,
consequent problems of drug use (Bean, 2008), essentially, crime is a problem that arises from drug
use and drug use can arise from crime also. Drugs and crime are consistently related to each other in a
number of studies, however, despite popular belief, the connection between the two are far too
complicated to summarise as a straightforward ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drug crime link is incredibly complex and can not be simply summarised as a straightforward
relationship between the two. The prevalence of drug use and the prevalence of crime is hard to
measure and there is also a possibility that other factors influence both drug use and crime
(Hammersley, 2008).
Drug use is a largely illegal activity consequently making it extremely difficult to measure (Bean,
2008). There are a lot of problems measuring the prevalence of drug use in society as it mainly hidden
away to avoid prosecution. Coomber et al. (2013), indicates that in the last 50 100 years drug use
around the world has had an enormous growth and around five percent of the world s 15 64 year old
population had used an illicit drug at least once in the past twelve months, and additionally this seems
to be more or less the case for the recent past history. This essentially indicates that quite a number of
the population have used an illegal drug recently. If this is the case, wouldn t crime be a bigger
problem in the world? Both crime and drug use are hidden to a certain extent, known as the dark
figure where certain crimes are committed but there are no offences that have been officially recorded
(Higgins and Marcum, 2016). Even with prevalence studies and research, no one knows the exact
figure of how many people are involved, or how

The Charter of Rights and Freedoms is a set of laws holding basic rules about how our country

After, come secondary sources, these you need look through more to make sure they are valid and see

The New Exciting Beauties Of Mary Fleming s The Airship...
Even when individual parties are detailed, descriptions hold no more excitement or beauty. Whilst
Anne Fleming admits Evelyn sadly confided that he got no pleasure from natural beauty , his
description of the airship party focuses upon how new modern beauty defies natural beauty. Acres of
inflated silk blotted out the sky and lights of other cars arriving lit up the uneven grass. This holds a
certain nostalgia for pastoral beauty, and with the country landscapes of Hetton and Brideshead
casting a great aesthetic influence in later novels, perhaps Waugh already senses here that any
excitement of technological beauty is fleeting, and as the ugliness of war looms, a hankering for
beauties past sinks in. The new exciting beauties prove ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The description of Brenda applying makeup is deliberately unpleasant, as she spat into the eye black
and choked slightly. This language implies that creating the illusion of beauty requires uncomfortable
effort, and the ugliness of her adulterous intent struggles to reveal itself from beneath it. For Waugh, to
highlight the ugliness of adulterous women was biographically motivated, due to the revelation of his
wife s adultery during his writing process. This only adds to his association with decadence according
to Freud, whom Charles Bernheimer suggests thought contemporary decadence resulted from people
having too little sex rather than too much. So sceptical is Waugh of any positivity in female beauty
that in Vile Bodies the term pretty gains negative connotations. Adam ridiculously deems Mary Mouse
and the Maharajah a pretty pair as they publicly make love on the airship balcony. The negative use of
the term is only furthered when Chastity in the prettiest way possible simpers to the drunk major
against the ugliness of the war backdrop. Thus Women s prettiness is a fickle attempt to disguise the
ugliness around them. The sense of pretty is by its very nature shallow and transient, it s sentiment far
from the stunning or the gorgeous that true beauty in romantic literature holds. Indeed, Waugh taps
into another Romantic poetic conceit here. The

Some data is very sensitive and therefore it has to be hidden away from parties who are not supposed

exploited by other parties to gain access to confidential and potentially dangerous data. Therefore,
measures have been taken to ensure that data is not accessed by others which is done by using several
methods which, besides physical security, includes the use of encryption algorithms which are
programs that change the way information looks by rendering it illegible.
Data encryption is an important part of computing and, if done properly, can provide the user with

This complex procedure ensures that the data is safe from being accessed by other parties[4].
Therefore, the key is an important component of the data encryption process since it is the one that
makes the data into a unique cipher text that cannot be accessed by other individuals and it is also
applied while decrypting the data. The key in computers is measured in bits and if an individual
knows the algorithm but does not know the key, the data cannot be accessed algorithmically since the
key is a major component to its being decrypted.
The most common method for breaking a cipher is through brute force attack where the possible
combinations of the key are guessed and applied until the right combination is arrived at. Therefore,
the longer the key the harder it would be to crack the code.
The personal involvement of Janet as shown by the message which asks her to personally transfer
money to her own bank account is suspect. This is in view of the fact that Janet knows the key to
Susan s account and could have used it to transfer the money to her own account. Therefore, the bank
could be using the private key encryption system in which the key is known to the business in this
case Janet and to the customer Susan. The fact that 3DES requires that one knows the key to access
information may be the clue to unraveling the truth. Since Janet is supposed to have the key for

An Objectivists View on a Charles Dickens´Christmas Carol...
Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol is considered by many to be a classic for all the ages, if an
objectivist point of view is used to analyse the social and political undertones of the story they will
agree with most of it, if not all of it. One of the major parts that an objectivist would agree with in A
Christmas Carol is how scrooge thinks of and how he treats the poor and infirm. Scrooge further
develops his objectivist ideology by being completely self interested in both his personal and
professional life. After Scrooge is visited by the three apparitions he is radically changed from a self
interested, objectivist, to a positive and uplifting altruist. In Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol, an

Another instant where Scrooge shows an objectivist behavior towards people poorer than he is when,
the clerk s fire is very small the clerk s fire was so very much smaller that it looked like one coal. But
he couldn t replenish it, for Scrooge kept the coal box in his own room; and so surely as the clerk
came in with the shovel, the master predicted that it would be necessary for them to part. Wherefore
the clerk put on his white comforter, and tried to warm himself at the candle; in which effort, not being
a man of a strong imagination, he failed (7). Scrooge sees even the tiniest of waste or usage of
materials a meaning for dismissal, even if the usage of materials is being used to better or help out
another human. This shows Scrooges objective character because, he does not believe any materials
should be used on the poor and everything thing should only be used for his own self interest.
Expanding on Scrooges ideology of objectivism is when No beggars implored him to bestow a trifle,
no children asked him what it was o clock, no man or woman ever once in all his life inquired the way
to such and such a place, of Scrooge. Even the blind men s dogs appeared to know him;

Kornfield, Donohue, Berndt, and Alexander (2013, p. 1) argued that the United States profoundly

On the words of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (2013), marketing is defined as an administration

the public and how accurate are the claim of drug effectiveness from the truth. The investigators
gathered commercial segments containing the advertisements of prescription and non prescription

accuracy of the data from the evidence. Again, Faerber and Kreling

Andy Warhol Biography
More Than 15 Minutes of Fame Andy Warhol s name is recognized by all kinds of people, art fanatics,

Warhol became a celebrity of his time. He went to parties and nightclubs, especially Studio 54 and

Glomerular Function
The functional unit of the kidney is the nephron. It consists of a renal corpuscle where fluid can be
filtered and a renal tubule where the filtered fluid flows through. Nephrons perform three basic
functions, Glomerular filtration, tubular reabsorption, and tubular secretion. Glomerular filtration
occurs as pressure (glomerular blood hydrostatic pressure) forces water and dissolved blood
components through the endothelial pores of the capillaries, basement membrane, and on through the
filtration slits of the adjoining visceral wall of the glomerular capsule. The resulting fluid is called the
filtrate. Most substances in blood plasma are filtered by the renal corpuscle. However, blood cells and
most proteins are not filtered. Filtration of blood depends on the force of glomerular blood hydrostatic
pressure. Filtration fraction is the percentage of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

acids, and ions, such as sodium potassium, calcium, chloride, bicarbonate, and phostphate.
Reabsorption of Na+ is especially important because more of them pass the glomerular filter than any
other substance except water. Sodium ions are reabsorbed in each portion of the renal tubule by
several transport systems. Active transport of Na+ promotes reabsorption of water by osmosis. The
loss of water from the filtrate creates a concentration gradient for some substances, such as K+, Cl ,

and later asked the police to shoot him. He also claimed that public officials were attempting to

and Sell became aggravated. Based on his behavior the judge felt the he was totally out of control it
was also noted that sell used insults, shouting out loud in court, as well as spitting in the judge s face.
For these and other reasons bail was denied, and Sell was detained. While the case was being tried in

included the attempted murder of an FBI agent, and attempting to intimidate a witness for his

Analysis Of Bram Stoker s Dracula
Voluptuous Vampire or Proper Prude
Written and set in the late 19th century, Bram Stoker s epistolary novel Dracula is a pivotal book in
gothic/horror literature. Like most novels written by men, Dracula appeals more to the male audience
and their fantasies and fears about women than to the Victorian Age woman. In the novel, Lucy and
Mina are the only two female characters the reader meets in detail, and they are also the only two
characters that are seen becoming vampires indeed, they are the only major vampire characters, with
the exception of the chief antagonist, who are described in detail within the novel. Therefore it is clear
that these two play a very important role in representing females in the novel. Both characters are also

between the two major characters so early in the novel suggests that it will play an important part in
the narrative. The reader later learns that this difference is essential to the plot, as it is only Mina s
purity and innocence that allows the group to defeat Dracula at the end of the novel, and ultimately
saves Mina from Lucy s fate. Lucy s part in the novel may be relatively short, yet her role is essential
to the audience s understanding of the novel s message about female roles and female sexuality in
Victorian society since she is the first victim of Count Dracula. At the same time, Lucy is the only
character whose transformation into a vampire Stoker describes in detail:
At times she slept, and both Van Helsing and I noticed the difference in her, between sleeping and
waking. Whilst asleep she looked stronger, although more haggard and her breathing was softer; her

The Primary Causes Of Electronic Waste
Electronic Waste
How often do individuals change your electronic equipment? Does anyone know where used
electronic merchandise go to? Electronic waste is called an E waste that has been becoming a serious
issue all over the world. People should be concerned in this century because E waste contains
hazardous, toxic ingredients which have adverse effects on society Toxic chemicals in electronics
products can leach into the land over time or are released into the atmosphere, impacting nearby
communities and the environment ( Where ). Young people are not aware of the caveat that used
electronic products to bring. E waste causes not only the environmental problems such as air and
water pollution but also health problems. An amount of E waste has been increasing rapidly.
Moreover, it has even been turning the land into substantial electronic landfill mountains. Three
primary reasons for electronic waste: waste is the accelerated development of science and technology,
increasing world population and over consumption.
The first primary cause of the E waste is the accelerated development of science and technology.
Acceleration can be measured in the returns of the technology such as speed, efficiency, price
performance, and overall power which improve exponentially too ( Technology ). The last 20 years
have notably changed in many aspects because of the technological innovation, and modern society is
filled with various electronic products such as computers, televisions, cell

Case Of Failure Of The Data Nodes
case of failure of the data nodes, the name node knows which data node has failed since that particular
data node will not report back in time to the name node. The name node also knows where the data
that is supplied to the data node has gone redundantly to the other data node. Therefore the job still
goes to completion even though a couple of data nodes fail in the big data processing. Since the
Hadoop MapReduce framework is master slave architecture there is a chance of single point failure.
The single point failure occurs when the name node itself fails. In that case there is also a presence of
secondary name node that place in the event of single point failure.

The action rules discovery is done using the LERS algorithm.
Table 2 Decision System S Let s apply the LERS algorithm for the decision system S in the table 2. In
this example the attributes a, b, c are stable. The attributes e, f, g are flexible and the d is decision
attribute. We will get the action rules when the decision attribute changes from d2 to d1.
Step 1: Extract all rules, which imply  d1 that means we should have d1 on the right hand side of the
rule. This should be done using LERS algorithm.
Step 2: Generate r [d2  d1] r1 = [b1  c1  f2  g1]  d1 r1 [d2  d1] = [b1  c1  (f,  f2)  (g,

Essay On Great Smoky
The fact invariably stated about Great Smoky is this: It is the nation s busiest park, drawing more than
nine million visitors a year, twice the number of any other national park. Most of the millions see the
park from a mountain skimming scenic highway that, on a typical weekend day during the summer,
draws 60,000 people, bumper to bumper. Luckily, there is plenty of park, thinly laced by 384 miles of
mountain roads. You can pull off the road, park the car, and stroll one of Great Smoky s many Quiet
Walkways, quarter mile paths into what the signs call a little bit of the world as it once was. Eight
hundred miles of hiking trails, from a half mile to 70 miles long, also give you that world. Relatively
few visitors walk the trails; most prefer to stay in their cars. The park, which ... Show more content on

The water and hydrocarbons exuded by the leaves produce the filmy smoke that gives the mountains
their name. Air pollution in recent years has added microscopic sulfate particles to the haze, cutting
visibility back about 60 percent since the 1950s. The pollution has also affected the park s red spruce
stand the southern Appalachians largest. And insects are destroying the Fraser fir, the spruce s high
altitude companion. The park also preserves the humble churches, cabins, farmhouses, and barns of
the mountain people who began settling here in the late 1700s. Most people left when the park was
founded, but some chose to stay and live out their lives here. Did You Know? The park was designated
an International Biosphere Reserve in 1976 and a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983. Many people
who live in the Eastern third of the U.S. can reach the park in a day. The Great Smoky Mountains are
home to over 100 native species of trees, more than are found in northern Europe. At 480 feet, Fontana

California Water Conservation
California recently implemented its new public policy of mandatory water conservation for lawns,
hotels, and restaurants. This policy was passed because of the environmental conditions that are
harming the state. This coincides with stage 1 of the policy cycle stage, agenda setting. In this stage,
the problem is highlighted to the general public: California s scarcity of water supply. California has
experienced a water drought for four years, and water levels are reaching a critical low. The past three
years have been the driest three years in California history dating back to the Gold Rush. On Tuesday,
the Sierra snowpack was at 13 percent of its historic average, and many of the state s largest reservoirs
were far below normal (Rogers). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is stage 6 of the public policy cycle, choosing an alternative. This alternative makes sense
considering that Governor Brown has already asked California residents to reduce their water
consumption, and they haven t been able to meet his desired goal of reducing water usage by 20%.
Punishing people who are excessively using the water supplies with fines is a great solution because it
will ensure that the water is being used wisely. Only the people and businesses that have to use so
much water will be able to pay the fines, and those that find the fines to be expensive will

Analysis Of The Poem Dead Man s Dump And Dolce Et...
Issac Rosenberg s Dead Man s Dump and Wilfred Owen s Dolce et Decorum Est both deal with the
problem of watching one s fellow soldiers die in combat. A common and major theme in both works is
the representation of death at war in the two poems. Despite this commonality, while there are
similarities, there are also differences in the poems representations of death on the battlefield. The
difference in the poems representations of death on the battlefield can be seen in the contrast in their
respective tone, usage of imagery, and form alongside the subject matter. In Rosenberg s, Dead Man s
Dump , the poem describes a battlefield and the aftermath of combat. The poem title itself reflects
how the poet, himself, feels regarding war and its different aspects. In a nutshell, the main point that
he is trying to get across to the reader is how demoralizing and gruesome a battle scene is during times
of war. Scattered across the scene are the bodies of the deceased. There is a truck going around,
surveying. All of a sudden, there is a sound; one of the soldiers is still alive. The perishing soldier begs
for the truck of men to find him quick. Unfortunately, by the time they do, they are only in time to
witness his last gasps as he, too, dies. Dead Man s Dump is a war poem which consists of vivid detail
conveying to the reader the brutality of World War I. As a reader, Rosenberg s effective usage of
imagery makes the reader feel as if he were at the scene being

Hate The Criminal Justice System Through Juvenile Graffiti...
Reflection I first learned to hate the criminal justice system through juvenile graffiti around New
Haven. I admired the rebellion of the rushed handwriting comparing cops to pigs on walls and flowing
anarchist symbols. The fight against the police system was first rooted in teenage angst rather than real
frustration. My friends and I would sing along to punk songs written by train hoppers about how
corrupt capitalists and police were and I gleefully claimed to be a communist, without really knowing
what any of this rebellion really meant. As I grew up I began to see injustice in a much more real and
concerning light, far beyond the mindless slogans. I would listen in horror as my friends from New
Haven told stories of being handcuffed and put on the ground for merely being parked in a Target
parking lot after closing time. Meanwhile, my white classmates would tell stories of countless just
warnings from the police. As I learned more from both the perspectives of my friends and the media
these inequities seemed to become grossly unjust. However I had always seen this through a second
hand lense, my friends, the media, everything seemed so far away from my home. My privilege kept
me safe from every encountering the real consequences of the oppressive state. Although I empathized
heavily with these issues, I had the option to disengage from activism at anytime. Throughout this
class I have met people who do not have the option to take a break from violence or fighting such

Villanova Research Paper
With two titles in the past three years, the Villanova Wildcats are on their way to becoming a dynasty.
Since the end of John Wooden s UCLA coaching tenure in 1975, only twice has a school won two
times in the span of three years. These were Duke s early 90 s teams of Grant Hill, Bobby Hurley, and
Christian Laettner, and Florida s 2006 2007 teams of Joakim Noah, Al Horford, and Corey Brewer,
meaning the Wildcats have joined elite company. Once known as a top team during the regular season
who would flame out in March, Jay Wright s most recent teams have shattered that belief.
Villanova has always prided itself on continuity and developing players within their system. In the era
of one and done basketball, where over 200 underclassmen have declared for the NBA Draft in the last
five years, Villanova has been largely immune. Although they lost four underclassmen this year,
including National Player of the Year Jalen Brunson, Villanova is perfectly positioned for another title
run. It s not a bad thing when Villanova s youngest team in years is still projected finish within ...

Their top four scorers are gone to the NBA. Had Donte Divincenzo and Spellman, who were both
considering returning, stayed, they would have been ranked 1st. Only Eric Paschall and Phil Booth
remain from the starting lineup, and they combined for only 20 points this past year. They are solid
players, but neither of them are studs. But Jay Wright has dealt with this before. Jalen Brunson went
from a 9.6 PPG player as a freshman to almost 19 as a junior. Donte Divincenzo had an 11 PPG uptick
in only 2 years as well. Even when it seems as if Villanova is in trouble, the next man always steps up

The Tangling Of Religion And Politics
The Tangling of Religion and Politics
Religion and politics are quite mingled into society both in the developed countries as well as in
developing countries. Religion and politics are two divisions of a single person. Religion speaks for a
person s moral values and beliefs and politics reaches out to one s secular lifestyle. People involved in
society may have deep rooted religious beliefs that control their behaviors and thought process and
most times impact their political stance and ideology. However, the split between the two does cause
controversial decision making. Using major religions such as Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, and
Buddhism to show how faith relates to politics will be demonstrated.
Islam has been and still is heavily intertwined within the society and government with no real line
separating the two. The Prophet Muhammad started Islam in Mecca, Arabia centuries ago and now it
has grown to become the second largest religion dominating the world today. Muslims, Islamic
believers, believe in one God which translates to Allah in the Arabic language. Their beliefs are based
off of their holy book, Qur an, and the Sunnah. The Sunnah is the verbally transmitted records of
Muhammad and it designates five basic Pillars of Islam, declaration of faith, praying five times a day,
giving money to charity, fasting, and a pilgrimage to Mecca at least one time.

The modern day toilet has been an innovation that has cleaned up the world s sanitary problems since

Think about an average person in the American society lasting a lifetime without one? Well luckily
thanks to the invention of the toilet, most people in the world do not have to worry about living in
unsanitary conditions without one. The invention of the toilet has helped change the ways of the early
primitive ways of disposal by preventing major catastrophes in the world, it has been brought about by

Kay Keating and many other writers 3. agree that he is praised for inventing the valve and siphon
arrangement that made our modern toilet (Keating 1). The valve and siphon is such a great importance
because it made the modern day toilet possible. Kay Keating points out that Thomas Crapper also held
nine patents towards the formation of the modern toilet (Keating 1). Many parts and pieces have been
attributed to the invention of the toilet along with many types of decorations that have been added to
the toilet throughout its time of being created as works of art. Writers from
Inventhelp.com state that Sir John Harrington invented a facility (toilet) that had a seat, a bowl, and a
cistern (Inventhelp.com 1). This shows an importance of early contributors striving to create a toilet.
Inventhelp.com also writes that Sir John Harrington invented a very primitive version of the water
closet which was water stored in a compartment used for washing away contaminants(Inventhelp.com
1). During the time of Sir John Harrington and a short while before Thomas Crapper, the toilet was
somewhat more of an art for decorating rather than a sanitary device since it was so expensive at the
time(Yadav 1). Decorations of the toilet show that the device itself was highly valued in time period

Scurvy
Scurvy is the state of Vitamin C deficiency. As the human body cannot produce vitamin C, serum
levels of this vitamin are solely dependent on dietary intake mainly from vegetables and fruits.
Vitamin C has an essential role in collagen formation of skin, gums, bones, and mucus membranes. It
also protects DNA, protein, and vessel walls from damage. Although scurvy is thought to be very rare
nowadays, it still can be found in elderly, college students and children who maintain poor diet on
daily basis . In general, it takes around 3 months for symptoms and signs to appear, ranging from
fever, fatigue, easy bruising, gum hypertrophy, poor wound healing, perifollicular hemorrhages,
anemia, and edema; to mood changes, depression, seizures, and ... Show more content on

One study in the UK showed that in 2008 the weighted prevalence of low levels of Vitamin C (s
history and clinical examination are powerful tools to reach to an accurate diagnosis. However, it may
be difficult to reach to the diagnosis of scurvy especially when common symptoms are absent. The
classical findings in scurvy are swollen gums and gingival bleeding and those were not present in this
case. In fact, some studies reported rare manifestations of scurvy such a patient that initially presented
with anorexia nervosa and was eventually diagnosed with scurvy. In two separate case reports, scurvy
patients were admitted to a hospital after presenting with orthostatic hypotension and hematochezia.
The patient on this case report presented with perifollicular hemorrhages and ecchymoses on his lower
extremities, and despite poor dental hygiene, he did not have gingival hypertrophy, and denied gum
bleeding. In a similar report, a 38 year old male presented with knee pain, easy bruising but had
gingival bleeding, which may have suggested a more clear suspicion of Vitamin C deficiency, and
another presentation reported a 54 year old female with similar presentation as our patient but who
also complained of weight

Conspiracy Theories Around 9-11

in Washington D.C. The attacks began at 8:46am ET when American Airline s Flight 11 struck the
North tower of the World Trade Center, causing chaos on the streets below. Not even twenty minutes

One MSNBC reporter, who was actually inside the north tower after the plane struck, stated I heard a
second explosion...And then a fire marshal came in and said we had to leave, because if there was a
third explosion this building might not last (Bombs and Explosions in the WTC 1). This quote not
only tells us that there was a possible explosion inside the World Trade Center, but that there seem to
have been more than one. If the collapse of the towers really was a controlled demolition as it looked
like to many, this would mean that a lot of premeditated work to place explosives would have had to
occur. Seeing as very few people have access to every place of the World Trade Center, it does seem
likely that some government cooperation would have been needed to make it happen.
Many researchers claim that the explosions heard in and around the World Trade Center could have
been from exploding electrical transformers. They say that the heat from the fire was too much for the
transformers and caused explosions throughout the building. Author of George Washington s Blog had
this to say about the topic: Well, if exploding transformers caused these sounds and the collapse of the
Twin Towers, why didn t we hear the same things and see the collapse of the buildings in Madrid,
Venezuela, Los Angeles and elsewhere which burned hotter and

  • 2. Customer Service At Dunmore Home Improvement Essay Dunmore Home Improvement Philosophy Customer service here at Dunmore Home Improvements is not just a person sitting at a desk, answering a phone and directing the caller. We believe customer service needs to be embedded in all aspects of our company principles and seen as an opportunity to gain achieving tactical economical advantage. So what does this mean? From the first phone call to our last interaction with the customer we want them to feel as this has been the best experience possible. It begins with our face of the company. That could be a greeter at the front door, or our team member answering a phone call. At that initial point of contact it is our goal to invite the customer in to a friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating atmosphere. Secondly, we want all internal customers to assist our external customers with any help or guidance they need without making them feel as if they have inconvenienced us. Listening to our customers will help improve the customer experience and lead to quicker solutions. Finally, we want our customers to not only come back, but to promote our business through word of mouth. That is where we will gain our economic advantage. It s 5 times harder to get a new client than it is to get repeat business from an existing client (Sivers). We need to utilize all aspects of customer service to not only retain the customers we do have but also to create an experience that invites new customers to our store. Internally, we want to motivate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now I have more money and I see every opponent as a man that is trying to put me back into that poorer period. That man has to be eliminated. He was undefeated for twenty seven fights in a row while fighting under the Pride Fighting Championship banner. Fedor gave his full potential in everything he did. So how far can you take your full potential like him? His career professionally started on May 21, 2000. • 4. Essay on Contemporary Choral Music Contemporary Choral Compositions Most people that live in the modern generation view choral music as old, boring harmonies whose composers died with kings. However, choral music is not just for the elderly singing hymns apathetically in the church pews on Sunday morning. Though the perception of it remains unenthusiastic among common listeners, the life of choral music is not as dead or boring as most would assume. Choral music is made modern, enjoyable, and vibrant through the works of contemporary composers. Although it is not as recognized in modern generations, brilliant vocal compositions and composers still exist today. Two of the most recognized composers of contemporary choral music today are Morten Lauridsen and Eric Whitacre. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While reading love poems, Lauridsen became increasingly intrigued by the symbolic image of flames that recurred within the context. I decided to compose an intensely dramatic cycle based on Renaissance love poems employing this fire motive while blending stylistic musical features of the period with contemporary compositional idiom, says Lauridsen. The musical textures of this composition are replete with Renaissance techniques, including word painting, modality, intricate counterpoint, and bold harmonies unified by what Lauridsen terms the fire chord, a minor triad with an added major seventh. The six movements of Madrigali, in order, include Ov è, Lass , Il Bel Viso?, Quando Son Più Lontan, Amor, Io Sento L Alma, Io Piango, Luci Serene e Chiare, and Se per Havervi, Oimè. In the final movement, Se per Havervi, Oimè, the text translates to: If, alas, when I gave you my heart, There was born in me that passion, Cruel Lady, which burns me everywhere So that I am all aflame, And if, loving you, bitter torment Makes me die of sorrow, Wretched me! What shall I do Without you who are my every joy? [Play Madrigali] Lauridsen explains, I wanted this music to emanate (like ripples from a pebble thrown into a pond) from a single, primal sonority; one dramatic chord that would encapsulate the intensity of the entire cycle and which would provide a musical motivic unity to ... • 5. Nectar In A Sieve Essay Nectar in a Sieve Kamala Purnaiya Taylor is an Indian novelist and journalist from Mysore in southern India. Being a very private person in nature, her literature is usually written under the pseudonym of Kamala Markandaya. After studying history at the University of Madras, she worked as a journalist and published short stories in Indian newspapers. A couple of years after she immigrated to England with her English husband, Markandaya published her first novel, Nectar in the Sieve. This novel won several awards, was chosen as a Book of the Month Club Main Selection in the United States, and the American Library Association named it a notable book in 1955. Despite her success, Markandaya remained an extremely private person, revealing little about her personal life and influences. Even so, insight can be gained into her work by evaluating the religious, political, and social contexts of her writing. Having been raised in India as a Hindu Brahmin, in her work, Markandaya addresses a fundamental question of Hindu belief: What does it mean to be human? Her Hindu beliefs, and traditions are central to Nectar in a Sieve, and remnants of the epic Ramayana, one of the best loved Indian folktales, are also woven throughout the novel. Markandaya shapes Rukmani, the main character in Nectar in a Sieve, and her story around the traditional life stages of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everyone has feelings same as animals just to look at their face or eyes you would know about how they feel, Animals can feel pain and suffer just as humans can but since sociopaths have a general inability to empathise, they are able to inflict pain and urgency on sentient beings with no feelings of remorse the increasing probability that cruelty to humans is the next step. • 7. Public Service Is A High Calling Public service is a high calling. A calling that certain individuals who are compassionate and enthusiastic about serving their communities at large are willing to dedicate their profession and skills to. Although there are many challenges in managing a public organization, great leaders are those who have taken this opportunity and have inspired their work to be bigger than themselves in hopes to motivate those around them to do good work. The development of our societies depends on the efforts of the public sector such as education, environmental services, health and social care, that are fundamental to peoples lives. Therefore, it is important that an effective leader in the public sector who is much more than knowing the job and how to manage workloads and staff. There are many behaviors and traits that have been linked to successful leaders, and more specifically, those who have dedicated their careers to the public. Leadership is formally defined as the exercise of authority, whether formal or informal, in directing and coordinating the work of others (Shafritz, Russell and Borick, 361). However, challenges surfaced in the public sector such as overcoming political and governmental pressures, inadequate training of staff, high employee turnover, and possibly weak management skills in lower levels causes front runners to jump through several more hoops than a leader working in a private organization. So often do we see a colorful group of people who struggle under the control of a tyrannical leader, struggling to keep both their spirits and sanity up. Cool Hand Luke is not an exception to these films. However, it does contain a main character with a nonchalant type attitude that irks his superiors and earns respect from his fellow prisoners, which is not often seen. This leads to him becoming a very popular character in the prison, specifically to his new admirer Dragline. Dragline the former head honcho among the prisoners grew quite fond of Luke due to his admiration for Luke s coolness. This new relationship would cause Dragline as well as Luke ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These situations would most often be caused by the hierarchical structure amongst the inmates rather than, between them and the guards. In my essay I will show how the rise in power by Luke and the drop in power of Dragline exhibit themes of obedience to authority, conformity and non conformity.* Before Luke came around Dragline played the role of the boss beneath the bosses. He would keep people in line, resulting in him and the guards having an unspoken understanding. He conforms to rules and standards he is expected to and the other inmates follow suit. This shows when the new inmates (including Luke) showed up, and one of them gets scammed into buying a better job that does not exist. He tells the boss he made a deal with the inmate only to find out it wasn t real and gets a night in the box. Dragline believes he deserved it, stating he back sassed a free man, they got their rules and we ain t got nothing to do with that. He gotta learn the rules the same as anybody else. • 9. Theme Of Spirit In Lucille Clifton s There Is A Girl Inside Lucille Clifton s There is a girl inside , teaches the reader to never let old age influence one s spirit and portrays this by using Clifton s own spirit as an example. Clifton first introduces her message by representing her childhood spirit as a girl inside of her own body. The narrator then shows the little girl s determination to not be changed by age. Clifton s first few lines of the poem starts with a description of the girl that lives inside her. Clifton relates the girl inside of her to a wolf to emphasize the girl s energetic and strong characteristic. This is important to the poem because it displays that Clifton s spirit is still lively and active, regarding her age. In the next few lines, the narrator says, She will not walk away/ and leave these bones/ to and old woman (ln. 3 5). This quote implies that Clifton s spirit (the girl) is determined to maintain young and lively while Cliftons physical body does not. This quote is important because it shows that a strong spirit is needed to not be internally influenced by age. Cliftons inner self is fighting against her physical self, which contributes towards Cliftons advice to never let age take over spirit. Furthermore, Clifton explains that the girl inside of her is special and unique to emphasize that Clifton s spirit has not changed. Making the reader understand that Clifton s spirit is special and unique is important because it emphasizes that the girl is different from her aging body. The narrator says, She is a green tree/in a forest of kindling (ln. 6 7) to portray the little girls uniqueness. A green tree in a forest of kindling uses irony to emphasize the little girls uniqueness. This is ironic because it would be against people s expectations to find a tree in a forest of small kindling. The speaker adds, She is a green girl/in a used poet (ln. 8 9). Clifton organized this stanza to make the first two lines be reflective of the last two lines in the stanza. This quote is related to the previous two lines in the poem and implies what being a green girl in a used poet means. Being a green girl in a used poet means that Clifton s spirit is what stands out about her, and Clifton s body is just the body of a poet. Clifton furthers her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Drug Crime Link Between Crime And Crime There is a popular widespread belief in the media, politics and society that illegal drugs and addiction to illegal drugs, in general, is the cause of a significant proportion of crime (Seddon, 2000). This idea has exerted an increasingly strong hold on drug policies around the world (Bean, 2008), including New Zealand. The drug crime link refers to the argument that crime is one of, if not the major, consequent problems of drug use (Bean, 2008), essentially, crime is a problem that arises from drug use and drug use can arise from crime also. Drugs and crime are consistently related to each other in a number of studies, however, despite popular belief, the connection between the two are far too complicated to summarise as a straightforward ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The drug crime link is incredibly complex and can not be simply summarised as a straightforward relationship between the two. The prevalence of drug use and the prevalence of crime is hard to measure and there is also a possibility that other factors influence both drug use and crime (Hammersley, 2008). Drug use is a largely illegal activity consequently making it extremely difficult to measure (Bean, 2008). There are a lot of problems measuring the prevalence of drug use in society as it mainly hidden away to avoid prosecution. Coomber et al. (2013), indicates that in the last 50 100 years drug use around the world has had an enormous growth and around five percent of the world s 15 64 year old population had used an illicit drug at least once in the past twelve months, and additionally this seems to be more or less the case for the recent past history. This essentially indicates that quite a number of the population have used an illegal drug recently. If this is the case, wouldn t crime be a bigger problem in the world? Both crime and drug use are hidden to a certain extent, known as the dark figure where certain crimes are committed but there are no offences that have been officially recorded (Higgins and Marcum, 2016). For example, a textbook for a catholic school on religion, even though it contains scholarly documentation, it may not include and adjust specific evidence that may go against the religion. As well, a journal article from a conservative site will not necessarily shed positive light on any democratic view. These sources can be used but only if it is capable to differ between bias and facts. • 12. The New Exciting Beauties Of Mary Fleming s The Airship... Even when individual parties are detailed, descriptions hold no more excitement or beauty. Whilst Anne Fleming admits Evelyn sadly confided that he got no pleasure from natural beauty , his description of the airship party focuses upon how new modern beauty defies natural beauty. Acres of inflated silk blotted out the sky and lights of other cars arriving lit up the uneven grass. This holds a certain nostalgia for pastoral beauty, and with the country landscapes of Hetton and Brideshead casting a great aesthetic influence in later novels, perhaps Waugh already senses here that any excitement of technological beauty is fleeting, and as the ugliness of war looms, a hankering for beauties past sinks in. The new exciting beauties prove ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The description of Brenda applying makeup is deliberately unpleasant, as she spat into the eye black and choked slightly. This language implies that creating the illusion of beauty requires uncomfortable effort, and the ugliness of her adulterous intent struggles to reveal itself from beneath it. For Waugh, to highlight the ugliness of adulterous women was biographically motivated, due to the revelation of his wife s adultery during his writing process. This only adds to his association with decadence according to Freud, whom Charles Bernheimer suggests thought contemporary decadence resulted from people having too little sex rather than too much. So sceptical is Waugh of any positivity in female beauty that in Vile Bodies the term pretty gains negative connotations. Adam ridiculously deems Mary Mouse and the Maharajah a pretty pair as they publicly make love on the airship balcony. The negative use of the term is only furthered when Chastity in the prettiest way possible simpers to the drunk major against the ugliness of the war backdrop. Thus Women s prettiness is a fickle attempt to disguise the ugliness around them. The sense of pretty is by its very nature shallow and transient, it s sentiment far from the stunning or the gorgeous that true beauty in romantic literature holds. Indeed, Waugh taps into another Romantic poetic conceit here. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this age of computers, their capacity for transfer and retrieval of information may be exploited by other parties to gain access to confidential and potentially dangerous data. Therefore, measures have been taken to ensure that data is not accessed by others which is done by using several methods which, besides physical security, includes the use of encryption algorithms which are programs that change the way information looks by rendering it illegible. This complex procedure ensures that the data is safe from being accessed by other parties[4]. Therefore, the key is an important component of the data encryption process since it is the one that makes the data into a unique cipher text that cannot be accessed by other individuals and it is also applied while decrypting the data. The key in computers is measured in bits and if an individual knows the algorithm but does not know the key, the data cannot be accessed algorithmically since the key is a major component to its being decrypted. The most common method for breaking a cipher is through brute force attack where the possible combinations of the key are guessed and applied until the right combination is arrived at. Therefore, the longer the key the harder it would be to crack the code. The personal involvement of Janet as shown by the message which asks her to personally transfer money to her own bank account is suspect. This is in view of the fact that Janet knows the key to Susan s account and could have used it to transfer the money to her own account. Therefore, the bank could be using the private key encryption system in which the key is known to the business in this case Janet and to the customer Susan. Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol is considered by many to be a classic for all the ages, if an objectivist point of view is used to analyse the social and political undertones of the story they will agree with most of it, if not all of it. One of the major parts that an objectivist would agree with in A Christmas Carol is how scrooge thinks of and how he treats the poor and infirm. Scrooge further develops his objectivist ideology by being completely self interested in both his personal and professional life. After Scrooge is visited by the three apparitions he is radically changed from a self interested, objectivist, to a positive and uplifting altruist. Wherefore the clerk put on his white comforter, and tried to warm himself at the candle; in which effort, not being a man of a strong imagination, he failed (7). Scrooge sees even the tiniest of waste or usage of materials a meaning for dismissal, even if the usage of materials is being used to better or help out another human. This shows Scrooges objective character because, he does not believe any materials should be used on the poor and everything thing should only be used for his own self interest. Pharmaceutical companies have been using a lot of various strategies to market their medications, notably in a contentious and lucrative market for prescriptions and non prescription medications. Kornfield, Donohue, Berndt, and Alexander (2013, p. 1) argued that the United States profoundly advertised pharmaceuticals and spent at least $30 billion dollars on publicity and selling of these products. In this written assignment I will be presenting a summary of an interesting article from Faerber and Kreling (2013) titled: Content Analysis of False and Misleading Claims in Television Advertising for Prescription and Nonprescription Drugs. On the words of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (2013), marketing is defined as an administration method, accountable for recognizing, predicting and capturing customer demands profitably. Faerber and Kreling (2013, p. 111) conducted a content analysis examining how substantial is a consumer targeted advertising using the television as an instrument to relay these drug information to the public and how accurate are the claim of drug effectiveness from the truth. The investigators gathered commercial segments containing the advertisements of prescription and non prescription drugs from 2008 through 2010. The multimedia data was randomly selected from the Vanderbilt Television News Archive. Nephrons perform three basic functions, Glomerular filtration, tubular reabsorption, and tubular secretion. Glomerular filtration occurs as pressure (glomerular blood hydrostatic pressure) forces water and dissolved blood components through the endothelial pores of the capillaries, basement membrane, and on through the filtration slits of the adjoining visceral wall of the glomerular capsule. The resulting fluid is called the filtrate. Most substances in blood plasma are filtered by the renal corpuscle. However, blood cells and most proteins are not filtered. Analysis Of Bram Stoker s Dracula Voluptuous Vampire or Proper Prude Written and set in the late 19th century, Bram Stoker s epistolary novel Dracula is a pivotal book in gothic/horror literature. Like most novels written by men, Dracula appeals more to the male audience and their fantasies and fears about women than to the Victorian Age woman. In the novel, Lucy and Mina are the only two female characters the reader meets in detail, and they are also the only two characters that are seen becoming vampires indeed, they are the only major vampire characters, with the exception of the chief antagonist, who are described in detail within the novel. The fact that Stoker has chosen to include such an important contrast between the two major characters so early in the novel suggests that it will play an important part in the narrative. The reader later learns that this difference is essential to the plot, as it is only Mina s purity and innocence that allows the group to defeat Dracula at the end of the novel, and ultimately saves Mina from Lucy s fate. Lucy s part in the novel may be relatively short, yet her role is essential to the audience s understanding of the novel s message about female roles and female sexuality in Victorian society since she is the first victim of Count Dracula. At the same time, Lucy is the only character whose transformation into a vampire Stoker describes in detail: At times she slept, and both Van Helsing and I noticed the difference in her, between sleeping and waking. Electronic waste is called an E waste that has been becoming a serious issue all over the world. People should be concerned in this century because E waste contains hazardous, toxic ingredients which have adverse effects on society Toxic chemicals in electronics products can leach into the land over time or are released into the atmosphere, impacting nearby communities and the environment ( Where ). Young people are not aware of the caveat that used electronic products to bring. E waste causes not only the environmental problems such as air and water pollution but also health problems. An amount of E waste has been increasing rapidly. Moreover, it has even been turning the land into substantial electronic landfill mountains. Three primary reasons for electronic waste: waste is the accelerated development of science and technology, increasing world population and over consumption. The first primary cause of the E waste is the accelerated development of science and technology. Acceleration can be measured in the returns of the technology such as speed, efficiency, price performance, and overall power which improve exponentially too ( Technology ). Case Of Failure Of The Data Nodes case of failure of the data nodes, the name node knows which data node has failed since that particular data node will not report back in time to the name node. Therefore the job still goes to completion even though a couple of data nodes fail in the big data processing. Since the Hadoop MapReduce framework is master slave architecture there is a chance of single point failure. The single point failure occurs when the name node itself fails. Despite this commonality, while there are similarities, there are also differences in the poems representations of death on the battlefield. The difference in the poems representations of death on the battlefield can be seen in the contrast in their respective tone, usage of imagery, and form alongside the subject matter. In Rosenberg s, Dead Man s Dump , the poem describes a battlefield and the aftermath of combat. The poem title itself reflects how the poet, himself, feels regarding war and its different aspects. In a nutshell, the main point that he is trying to get across to the reader is how demoralizing and gruesome a battle scene is during times of war. I admired the rebellion of the rushed handwriting comparing cops to pigs on walls and flowing anarchist symbols. The fight against the police system was first rooted in teenage angst rather than real frustration. My friends and I would sing along to punk songs written by train hoppers about how corrupt capitalists and police were and I gleefully claimed to be a communist, without really knowing what any of this rebellion really meant. As I grew up I began to see injustice in a much more real and concerning light, far beyond the mindless slogans. I would listen in horror as my friends from New Haven told stories of being handcuffed and put on the ground for merely being parked in a Target parking lot after closing time. Meanwhile, my white classmates would tell stories of countless just warnings from the police. As I learned more from both the perspectives of my friends and the media these inequities seemed to become grossly unjust. • 33. The Tangling Of Religion And Politics The Tangling of Religion and Politics Religion and politics are quite mingled into society both in the developed countries as well as in developing countries. Religion and politics are two divisions of a single person. Religion speaks for a person s moral values and beliefs and politics reaches out to one s secular lifestyle. People involved in society may have deep rooted religious beliefs that control their behaviors and thought process and most times impact their political stance and ideology. However, the split between the two does cause controversial decision making. Using major religions such as Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism to show how faith relates to politics will be demonstrated. Islam has been and still is heavily intertwined within the society and government with no real line separating the two. The Prophet Muhammad started Islam in Mecca, Arabia centuries ago and now it has grown to become the second largest religion dominating the world today. Muslims, Islamic believers, believe in one God which translates to Allah in the Arabic language. Their beliefs are based off of their holy book, Qur an, and the Sunnah. The Sunnah is the verbally transmitted records of Muhammad and it designates five basic Pillars of Islam, declaration of faith, praying five times a day, giving money to charity, fasting, and a pilgrimage to Mecca at least one time. • 34. The Toilet The modern day toilet has been an innovation that has cleaned up the world s sanitary problems since the late 1800s when it was created. Imagine what life would be like without the use of the toilet? Think about an average person in the American society lasting a lifetime without one? Well luckily thanks to the invention of the toilet, most people in the world do not have to worry about living in unsanitary conditions without one. The invention of the toilet has helped change the ways of the early primitive ways of disposal by preventing major catastrophes in the world, it has been brought about by many creators to work properly, and has modernized the world and has helped clean up the world s human disposal. Kay Keating and many other writers 3. agree that he is praised for inventing the valve and siphon arrangement that made our modern toilet (Keating 1). The valve and siphon is such a great importance because it made the modern day toilet possible. Kay Keating points out that Thomas Crapper also held nine patents towards the formation of the modern toilet (Keating 1). Many parts and pieces have been attributed to the invention of the toilet along with many types of decorations that have been added to the toilet throughout its time of being created as works of art. Writers from Inventhelp.com state that Sir John Harrington invented a facility (toilet) that had a seat, a bowl, and a cistern (Inventhelp.com 1). This shows an importance of early contributors striving to create a toilet. Inventhelp.com also writes that Sir John Harrington invented a very primitive version of the water closet which was water stored in a compartment used for washing away contaminants(Inventhelp.com 1). During the time of Sir John Harrington and a short while before Thomas Crapper, the toilet was somewhat more of an art for decorating rather than a sanitary device since it was so expensive at the time(Yadav 1). Decorations of the toilet show that the device itself was highly valued in time period that it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Scurvy Scurvy is the state of Vitamin C deficiency. As the human body cannot produce vitamin C, serum levels of this vitamin are solely dependent on dietary intake mainly from vegetables and fruits. Vitamin C has an essential role in collagen formation of skin, gums, bones, and mucus membranes. It also protects DNA, protein, and vessel walls from damage. Although scurvy is thought to be very rare nowadays, it still can be found in elderly, college students and children who maintain poor diet on daily basis . In general, it takes around 3 months for symptoms and signs to appear, ranging from fever, fatigue, easy bruising, gum hypertrophy, poor wound healing, perifollicular hemorrhages, anemia, and edema; to mood changes, depression, seizures, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One study in the UK showed that in 2008 the weighted prevalence of low levels of Vitamin C (s history and clinical examination are powerful tools to reach to an accurate diagnosis. However, it may be difficult to reach to the diagnosis of scurvy especially when common symptoms are absent. The classical findings in scurvy are swollen gums and gingival bleeding and those were not present in this case. In fact, some studies reported rare manifestations of scurvy such a patient that initially presented with anorexia nervosa and was eventually diagnosed with scurvy. In two separate case reports, scurvy patients were admitted to a hospital after presenting with orthostatic hypotension and hematochezia. The patient on this case report presented with perifollicular hemorrhages and ecchymoses on his lower extremities, and despite poor dental hygiene, he did not have gingival hypertrophy, and denied gum bleeding. In a similar report, a 38 year old male presented with knee pain, easy bruising but had gingival bleeding, which may have suggested a more clear suspicion of Vitamin C deficiency, and another presentation reported a 54 year old female with similar presentation as our patient but who also complained of weight ... • 36. Conspiracy Theories Around 9-11 The worst terrorist attack in U.S history occurred on September 11, 2001. According to U.S government officials, nineteen men hijacked four fuel loaded commercial planes with the intent to destroy the World Trade Center in New York City, as well as both the Pentagon and the White House in Washington D.C. The attacks began at 8:46am ET when American Airline s Flight 11 struck the North tower of the World Trade Center, causing chaos on the streets below. Not even twenty minutes later, another commercial plane, United Airlines Flight 175, struck the south tower. Americans and people all over the world watched helplessly as the action on the East Coast unfolded. Any American old enough to remember can most likely tell you exactly where he or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One MSNBC reporter, who was actually inside the north tower after the plane struck, stated I heard a second explosion...And then a fire marshal came in and said we had to leave, because if there was a third explosion this building might not last (Bombs and Explosions in the WTC 1). This quote not only tells us that there was a possible explosion inside the World Trade Center, but that there seem to have been more than one. If the collapse of the towers really was a controlled demolition as it looked like to many, this would mean that a lot of premeditated work to place explosives would have had to occur. Seeing as very few people have access to every place of the World Trade Center, it does seem likely that some government cooperation would have been needed to make it happen. Many researchers claim that the explosions heard in and around the World Trade Center could have been from exploding electrical transformers. They say that the heat from the fire was too much for the transformers and caused explosions throughout the building. Author of George Washington s Blog had this to say about the topic: Well, if exploding transformers caused these sounds and the collapse of the Twin Towers, why didn t we hear the same things and see the collapse of the buildings in Madrid, Venezuela, Los Angeles and elsewhere which burned hotter and ... • 37. My Diversity Experience My diversity experience began on November 12, 2016 in Wilmington, North Carolina at the Jamaica s Comfort Zone restaurant. I chose this experience because I feel I need to learn more about Jamaica, Jamaicans and their culture. Also, because there appears to be a large number of Jamaicans residing in various parts of the United States, particularly in New York, Florida, and Georgia (Atlanta). Prior to searching for an authentic Jamaican restaurant, I decided that I needed to do some research regarding the culture of Jamaica; and, as a result of my research, I discovered that the culture of Jamaica is quite interesting to learn about. In addition to dinning, I had the opportunity to briefly talk with a customer who migrated from Jamaica to America six months ago. In fact, I found that communicating and dinning among individuals who were culturally and socially raised differently from me was an incredibly challenging experience for me because I had to step out of my comfort zone and quickly learn how to be open, warm, and sensitive as well as be accepted, and welcomed into a new environment; in addition, I had to put aside all of my pre existing attitudes and beliefs about ...
