Who Is Andrew Jackson Responsible For The Indian Removal Act
Andrew Jackson Debate Response
Although there have been arguments made in support for Andrew Jackson, his decision to [pass the
Indian Removal Acts were completely unhumanitarian. Andrew Jackson has to be held responsible for
the thousands of unnecessary deaths he caused, and he has to be portrayed for the man he really was: a
corrupt leader that lead America into committing mass genocide against the indigenous people of
America. This should not be looked over due to the other achievements Andrew Jackson had
completed during his life. He committed mass genocide, he was a racist who was driven to kill and
enslave other living, breathing humans, and he killed thousands of Native Americans for land that
America had no need for. He needs to be held at fault for his actions, and they simply cannot be
accounted for as humanitarian. Despite Andrew Jackson not being able to predict the outcomes and
consequences of the Indian Removal Act, there is no justifying his actions. Andrew Jackson was the
man who openly gave approval to committing mass genocide for the Native Americans, forcibly
removed thousands of Native Americans from lands they had owned for thousands of years prior, and
approved and appointed the individuals in charge of starting the trail of tears. In February 1830, the
Indian Removal Act set in place that potentially allowed the president to grant land that was west of
the Mississippi river in exchange for Native American s land within existing state borders. In theory,
this plan would allow the native to earn money if they wished to move, and in return the Americans
could acquire more land. The outcome of this, however, was a bloody massacre. Many of the Native
Americans did not want to move, since they have been living there for thousands of years, longer than
the whites have been there. Since many of them did not want to move, the Americans used force in an
attempt to push the Native Americans west in a movement that killed over 4,000 natives. There is no
justifying what Andrew Jackson did in order to gain more unnecessary land. Throughout his life,
Andrew Jackson proved time and time again that he was, indeed, an extraordinarily racist man. As a
result, his actions against the Native Americans

Connections Between Aircraft Performance And Propulsion...
13. Aircraft Performance In this chapter we will make the connections between aircraft performance
and propulsion system performance. For a vehicle in steady, level flight, as in Figure 13.1, the thrust
force is equal to the drag force, and lift is equal to weight. Any thrust available in excess of that
required to overcome the drag can be applied to accelerate the vehicle (increasing kinetic energy) or to
cause the vehicle to climb (increasing potential energy). Figure 13.1: A schematic of the forces on an

Compare And Contrast Sikhism And Judaism
In this class we have learn about five different religion, which are Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism,
Judaism and Christianity. We discussed the beliefs/doctrines,ituals/practices, Ethics and Social
Formations/Institutions of every region. In this essay I am going compare and contrast the rituals/
practices parts of sikhism and judaism. As we discussed in class, Sikhism is Monotheistic religion that
was found in Punjab Pakistan in 1469 AD by Guru Nanak Dv Ji. The worship place for this religion is
the Gurdwara. In my site visit to the Gurdwara I learned that this place open 24 hour and anyone may
enter it no matter their faith, caste or skin color. I also learned that There are daily prayers and the
three pillars of sikhism are to remember god at all time, to live your life honestly/with integrity and to
share what you have with those less fortunate. In addition, Every day Sikhs worship the one God at
their homes, even with or without a Gurdwara service. As we learned in class that in sikhism statues
and pictures are not allowed. Furthermore, there is no prophets in Sikhism, only direct relation with
god without mediator. The three jewels in Sikhism are Naam Japna,Kirat Karni and Vand chakna

Explain Why Children Should Not Play Violent Sports Essay
People are normally surrounded with numerous youth sports, adult professional and recreational
leagues as well as passionate fans. However, it is only small percentage of the population across the
globe that plays sports in professional manner (Holowchak Reid 2013). The question as to whether
children should be allowed to play violent sports is usually asked by many people on daily basis.
Some sports tend to be fast paced and physical which makes them to be exciting and fulfilling. There
are numerous positive impacts of playing and viewing sport activities. But some sports have a violent
nature in them and they normally have psychological effect and can as well affect emotional and
physical health (Delaney Madigan 2009). Therefore, children should not play violent sports. Many
adults and parents normally use this common phrase let them go and play it is healthy. Many of them
are under the thought that putting aggression in a certain sport is a healthy means for aggressive
energy. However, this might not be the appropriate and accurate approach. Holowchak and Reid
(2013) argue that exposure to violent behaviour or aggression within any ... Show more content on

Children are continuing to learn and their brains normally quickly pick up and grasp what they hear
and see (Holowchak Reid 2013). Allowing children to play violent games can make them perceive
things such as committing murder as being acceptable and normal thing in the society. Violent games
are realistic that children normally take them seriously. Allowing children to play violent video games
can make a child to be lazy and avoid going out to play with other children. Even when they go
outside to play, they will games that are violent and this makes them to be too violent (Delaney

Car Emissions and Global Warming Essay
1 gallon of gas =24 pounds of global warming emissions (UCSUSA). Many of the people in our world
today don t understand just how much The Automobile affects us, our lives, and the world we live in.
Undoubtedly, the invention of the car has changed our perspective on the different technology created
over the past years. However, cars are some of the leading factors towards one of the largest ongoing
problems occurring in our world today. That problem goes by the name of global warming. Since
1990, Transportation has been one of the fastest growing sources of U.S. GHG (U.S.D.T), otherwise
known as Greenhouse gasses. In which most of us know; global warming affects our health,

The U.S government has been actively involved in overseeing emission standards for years. This
corresponds with the statement made by the U.S Department of transportation that, Transportation is
the largest end use sector emitting CO2 , and also the statement released by the NRCAN in which,
Fuel usage carbon dioxide emissions have grown steadily over the past two decades. These factors are
only to be associated with your average four door sedan and/or light truck. These do not include your
18 wheelers, heavy trucks, or the gas guzzling vans that emit more carbon dioxide into the air and are
also on the road more today than ever have been before. Cars are readily and easily obtainable more so
now than ever have been. This creates more fuel to be burned up in which produces more toxins to be
constantly released into the atmosphere. In fact, according to Scientific American cars relate as much
as 30 gallons of GHG, while only driving 3 miles. These miles can be correlated with something just
as simple as your average work commute. According to the United States Census Bureau, Nearly
600,000 full time workers had megacommutes of at least 90 minutes and 50 miles. Those workers
alone would each be releasing up to 500 gallons of GHG. These can be considered some of the bigger
factors that the greenhouse gasses have taken a toll on.
Alongside the uprising rate of cars and the steady growth of GHG emitted, is the influence our

How Are Othello And Desdemona Alike

older, experienced soldier. He is not very refined or gentlemanly according to soci ety s rules. He has
been a soldier most of his life and because of this and he is not very cultured. On the other hand
Desdemona is young, beautiful, smart and refined. She is not afraid to speak her mind and disagree
with men, which is very bold according to the customs of the times. She shows this when she speaks

End Humpback Whale Protection Essay
End Humpback Whale Protection Say Fisheries
Humpback whales would no longer be listed under the Endangered Species Act
(www.fws.gov/laws/lawsdigest/esact.html) if U.S. fisheries managers get what they want, which is to
end humpback whale protection. The group says that the whales are doing well now and don t face
extinction like they did when first put on the list.
Humpback whales now are on the list as being in danger all over the world, however, on Monday a
proposal was opened up to the public that seeks to end humpback whale protection in some areas by
putting the world s population of humpback whales into 14 groups having differing levels of
protection and taking 10 of those groups totally off the protected status.

If End Humpback Whale Protection, Laws Would Change
Getting rid of the protection the humpback whales now have would mean that ships and fishermen
could get by with hitting or killing a whale or producing too high of noise levels in certain underwater
areas. The changes to end humpback whale protection is being suggested due to the fact that scientists
claim there are now tens of thousands of humpbacks now vs. only a few thousand back in the 70s
when they were originally put on the Endangered list.
Since 1966, commercial hunting of whales has been prohibited by the International Whaling
Commission (iwc.int). However, some countries still hunt them, such as Japan, Norway and Iceland,
for instance, killing of these mammals is permitted for scientific research and a few more are killed by
Japanese in the Southern Ocean for blubber and their meat.
There have also still been humpbacks killed from things like getting tangled up in fishing equipment,
loss of habitat, harassment from whale watchers, and getting hit by

The Theory Of A Management Theory
A management theory is a collection of different ideas that are used to outline the general rules for
how a business or organization will manage itself (Business Dictionary, n.d.). Every organization uses
management or managerial theories as the foundation in which they use to implement, help increase
productivity, and service quality (Hawthorne, n.d.). An organization doesn t use just one theory or
concept when implementing their strategies but actually they use a combination of theories that work
best for their workplace, purpose and workforce (Hawthorne, n.d.). It turns into a mixture of different
theories that is blended for exactly what the organization needs. Not many organizations are going to
openly publish what managerial theories they use to keep their company going. It s not good to show
your hand of cards to your competitors. It only makes you weaker and they know what your game
plan is. So as an internal employee and based off what I know about the organization I work for, I m
going to analyze and theorize on the approach that State Farm takes based on what I know about their
internal culture and business strategies. State Farm has five different lines of business; property and
casualty insurance, life and health insurance, annuities, mutual funds, and banking products (State
Farm, 2015). State Farm was built on a collection of shared values that includes; quality service and
relationships, mutual trust, integrity, and financial strength (State Farm, 2015).

Grief In The Book Thief And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
While grief is a central theme to both The Book Thief and The Prisoner of Azkaban, the novels have a
disagreement about what grief looks like. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban supports the idea
of a five stage cycle of grief, as theorized by Kubler and Ross. In contrast, The Book Thief does not
focus on stages of grief. Instead, the novel takes a look at a duo faceted idea of grief, which are pain
and anger. The two novels are inherently different because of who their narrators are; Death is the
narrator of Zusak s novel, and a Rowling s narrator for the story is a presumably human third party.
Grief in The Book Thief is very atypical to what many describe it as, whereas The Prisoner of
Azkaban shows the grieving process as cyclic as typically theorized.
Grief in The Book Thief has almost an uninvolved view of grief. The novel focuses on the events that
result in grief itself, but do not follow up on grief as a continuing process. In most events within the
novel, Death, the narrator, discusses what happens to Liesel and how she breaks down in that moment.
In the excerpt examined from Part 5, The Showdown: June 24 , Liesel is first described as feeling
extreme pain over her mother being let go by the Mayor and his wife from her clothes washing
services (Zusak, 260). Later on, the narrator says Her sadness left her and she was overwhelmed with
anger. (261). For the remainder of the chapter, Liesel stays angry, even going as so far to tell Isla, the
mayor s wife, off (262 263). After this point, her anger and grief over her mother losing her last client
(260) is not mentioned again. The grief, in the eyes of the narrator, seems to stay in that singular
moment, and does not impact any future choices. Even later on in the book, when everyone she loves
dies as the result of a bombing, the readers only see her grief in the moment, and nothing beyond it
(538). In contrast, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban shows grief in a very cyclic and
continuing process. The five stages of grief, as theorized by Kubler and Ross, is as follows: denial,
anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance (Smaldone and Uzzo, 425). The cycle is more visible
when looking at the Harry Potter series as a whole, but cycles

Analysis Of The Absurd
The Absurd
It is safe to say the idea of absurdism can be linked to meaningless, and other such words that express
a destination without the means to there and vice versa. In Camus famous fictional novel, he shows
how one s perception of life can be effected when faced with death. The Stranger reflects Camus
philosophical stance on absurdism. There is no truth, no certainty, or any unwavering, non relative
laws in life. There is no sense in pursuing impossibilities. But if life is in a sense pointless, why
continue living?
It seems as if Meursault does not want himself to be happy. This can be assumed from reading the
text. More specifically from chapter six of the Stranger on pages forty seven through fifty nine. He
could have had new job which would have paid substantially more in Paris, a loving girlfriend whom
wanted to marry him despite his flaws, and seemingly reliable and trustworthy friends. Meursault had
so many doors open for him filled with opportunities but he throws all his chances of happiness away
once he murders the Arab man on the beach.
Existence can be categorized as standing out or doing something that sets you aside from others and
the environment. Meursault s only desire was to be free from hope because hope meant that there was
a disconnection between who he should ve been and who he actually was. His only wish was to almost
blend into his environment or in other words become invisible to society so he didn t have to be who

Discrimination And Harassment Against Women
Throughout the 20th century, women were often seen as eye candies and mannequins at work, and in
many cases, they even encounter sexual molestation. Discrimination and harassment against women is
still prevalent in the workplace. During the 2013 fiscal year, Courts enforced 7,256 charges of sexual
harassment, out of which, women comprised 82.6 % of victims, while there were 27,687 cases of
gender discrimination. Our era has seen new conventions and legal philosophies, which are steering
towards female emancipation. Courts have passed laws such as Title VII, of the Civil Rights Act of
1964, which prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religious belief, gender, or
national origin of the person. These laws empower women and aim to forestall them from facing any
discrimination or hostility at work. Civil rights provide protection to women, but it fails to provide the
sense of equality that women deserve. During the 20th century, our society has envisioned a vast
movement for Equal Right Amendment (ERA). The ERA was a proposed amendment to the United
States Constitution, which guaranteed equality between human races and women, under law. The bill
failed in 1982, when it did not receive enough state votes for the confirmation. To a historian, North
Country can present insight about gender inequality in the late 20th century. It also sheds light on the
historical issues which stand to influence our times, by leading to the conception of new laws and

Taking a Look at French Macarons
French macarons, also known as macarons , are one of the most popular treats in the world. Today, it
consists of a crunchy shell but chewy inside and are sandwiched between a great filling. Many
countries have their own variations of a macaron, but French macarons are the most well known in the
United States. Macarons have changed greatly since their origination, from their fragrances and
flavors, to the beautiful colors of their shells.
A macaron is a simple French cookie that has it s many originations. The shell of the macaron has
derived way back to the Renaissance, according to Dominique Michelle. Macaron shells are made of
almonds, which were mainly exported from Arabic countries. The almonds were transported to Rome,
then into Italy to be made into an almond paste in the early 1500 s. This paste was served as a round,
dry cookie that was feasted upon in savory dishes, rather than dessert.
The paste finally made it s way to France in 1533 because of Italian wife of Henri II, Catherine de
Medicis. She was born in Italy and was taught by her father the recipe of the almond paste.
Supposedly, the cookie had saved her from dying of starvation. At this time, the cookie was served
plain with no color or filling. Italian bakers named this delicacy a macaron . The cookie got it s name
from the Italian word macaroni because it was made with similar ingredients. Almond flour, an egg
meringue, and sugar were the simple ingredients in the recipe to make the macaron cookies

Established in history for his tremendous efforts to improve the condition of blacks in the United

took it upon his own conscience to deal with the poverty and discrimination faced by black americans

on economic equality than social equality, he provided a stepping stone for the future, which would

Washington took advantage of the situation, offering a humble plea to the white race, so that his black
brothers could be employed. Washington then continued to describe the fidelity that the Negro would
offer, being a reliable source of work. Washington s views were not without fault however, as they
were assailed by W.E.B. Du Bois for subjugating the black race to menial labor and social inferiority.
In Du Bois essay Of Mr. Booker T. Washington and Others in his collection The Souls of Black Folk,
Du Bois accuses Washington of allowing the South to solidify the supremacy of the white race over
the black. Washington s programme practically accepts the alleged inferiority of the Negro races.
Though partly true, Washington s incentive was not to gain equal economic footing, but a footing at
all. Due to the numerous labor strikes following the Panic of 1893, unemployment went through the
roof, leaving many white southerners without an efficient labor force. Washington chose to fill the gap
with a band of hard working blacks, so that they may prove their aptitude to their white employers.
Washington insisted instead that blacks could surmount trade unions by

To What Extent Did Hitler Manipulate the German Population...
To what extent did Hitler manipulate the German population into following his Nazi regime? From
1933 1945 Adolf Hitler rose to the peak of his political power, by creating a stronghold over the
German people. The use of oratory skills, in conjunction with his knowledge and use of propaganda
and his suppression of details of the Holocaust, created a vibe of electric excitement for Germany.
(Fritzsche, 1998) His targeting of the German minority and his radical push for anti Semitism allowed
Hitler to corrupt a weak and innocent nation. Manipulative leadership was a dominant force in the
birth of his extremist beliefs and propagation, though this was assisted by the responsiveness of the
negligent minded German population to his plans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thousands upon thousands of Berliners cheered and celebrated as Hitler spoke of his new ambitions
and plans for Germany. The crowd, which was labelled by a fellow member of the group as deafening
, were excited by the Hitler s enthusiasm; this had been lacking under the reign of Weimar democracy.
(Fritzsche, 1998) The editor of Berlin s Nazi newspaper, Der Angriff, Joseph Goebbels, remarked:
Uprising! Spontaneous explosion of the people. Indescribable! (Fritzsche, 1998) Even though later in
history we see Hitler s ultimate motive to be his own rise in political hierarchy, his speech introduced
himself to the German public as a populist and a revolutionary political genius. (Grunfield, 1974)
Hitler endeavoured himself to all economical classes, whether it be the bourgeoisie, peasantry or the
aristocracy; to them it appeared Hitler s priority was to move Germany out of the current economic
crisis and strive to develop Germany into a world superpower. The passion illustrated in Hitler s goals
was prevalent in his speeches, which led to the acceptance of a nation and the new title of our Fuhrer
(Grunfield, 1974) Hitler s use of Nazi propaganda was a major part of his scheme to empower himself
to a weak nation; it gained him respect from the German people and endeared himself to them. The

How Does Liesel Use Language In The Book Thief
In the novel The Book Thief, written by Markus Zusak, there is a strong presence surrounding words.
I was amazed by this presence through Liesel s relationship to books, the power of words, and
language that is affected by the Holocaust. I was amazed by how Liesel overcomes Hitler s
suppression and teaches others about language and words. The presence of words is shown through
Liesel s relationship to books. We see Liesel develop throughout the novel from a powerless girl to a
more mature, empowered girl, this is, in part, due to her relationship with books. Liesel s first

reminders of language within the novel. An example of this is when Liesel and Hans write on the back

because it shows the dedication and will to learn that Liesel has, and passes onto others throughout the

few years later due to the South once again becoming angered at certain actions of the President. In
conclusion, the Nullification Crisis contributed to the Civil War for many different reasons. For one,
President Jackson s main goal was to preserve the Union and avoid war at any cost. However, the
Nullification Crisis created tension between the North and the South, which would later boil over to
the point of war. Furthermore, the North was a manufacturing community, as well as being
significantly larger than the South. The South was an agricultural society, meaning that they were
dependent on the North for manufactured goods. Tensions rose between the North and South because
the North was not only benefiting from the protective tariff, but they were making money from the
South s need for manufactured goods for farming. In the end, the protective tariff showed that if the
North could inflict a tariff on the South, then the North (have a significantly larger population) could
end slavery (which was the South s main form of wealth). Due to

Qumran Community
Theology of the Qumran Community The discovery of the Dead Sea Scroll was an important impact
in history. It is known to be the oldest manuscripts dating back between 200 BCE and 70 BCE, with
some small portion of the texts dating back to the 3rd century BCE, and some extant material dating to
the first century BCE. The scrolls consist of 900 manuscripts that were written in Hebrew, Greek, and
Aramaic and were discovered in eleven caves outside of the Judean desert. The manuscripts are either
biblical or non biblical and it includes many subjects and literary styles as well as significance

The Qumran community looked into the end of days through prophetic scriptures. The notion of the
end of days is the common belief of experiencing judgment and salvation. According to Vanderkam
Flint, it has a positive and negative side (pg. 264). In the negative side, the end of days will involve a
period of trails where the forces of Belial redouble their efforts to defeat the ranks of the righteous
(4Q174) In the positive side, for those who are chosen, it will be a time of purifying. Another crucial
information to know about the Qumran s view of the end of days is the meeting of messianic
characters in the scrolls. These are found in the Shoot of David and the Interpreter of the Law, where
they talk about two messiahs. One was to be the messiah of Aaron, a priestly messiah, while the other
was to be the messiah of Israel, a royal messiah of Davidic descent. (Lesson, week #6). The Qumran
community believed that in the end of days, God will interfere and will send leaders of the future that

Diversity of Online Communities Essay
Diversity of Online Communities
The article in U.S. News World Report called Go Play On the Web represents a community of virtual
gamers on the Internet. These games are a lot more complex than the online gaming of the past. When
these people that belong to this particular community log on to the net they are interacting with each
other in huge 3 D virtual worlds. Some of these games focus on a particular subject like playing
virtual game shows with others on the net. Some of the new games that are just recently being released
are far more complex. One of these new more complex games is called Motor City Online . Motor

I m not sure why I prefer gaming to other communities. There are a lot of other things to do on the
Internet that can be a lot more productive than gaming. I guess so far I only see the Internet as a place
to entertain myself. Online gaming is just a form of entertainment there are literally thousands of other
types of online communities. Howard Reingold speaks of a very different community that you can
find online in his article, The Heart of the WELL . In this article Reingold describes an online
community called WELL which stands for Whole Earth Lectronic Link. The WELL is a circle of
people that have come together on the Internet and have discussions on a wide range of real world
topics. More importantly the people that come together on the WELL do all that they can to help each
other in the real world even though the majority of the WELL s members have never actually seen
each other face to face. For example one night Reingold s two year old daughter had a tick on her;
neither him nor his wife knew how to remove the tick. It was too late to get a hold of any doctor for
advice so Reingold logged on to the WELL. Reingold was able to find a doctor that was online. This
doctor was able to tell him exactly how to remove the tick. If Reingold hadn t known about the WELL
he probably would have had to wait till the next morning to find someone who could inform him on
how he should go about removing the tick. Another good example of how

The Cuban Revolution In Nicaragua
stated the necessity of the Soviet Union and Cuba to become allies, and this move would also
influence many countries in Latin America to become allies with the Soviet Union rather than the U.S

One of the first areas in Latin America to be affected by the Cuban Revolution was the small Central
American country of Nicaragua. Cuba prior to the Cuban Revolution, was under a dictator and many
people lived in poverty, and in the 1960s Nicaragua was faced with same problem. The fact that Cuba
was successful in their revolution, inspired the Nicaraguan Revolution. Nicaragua like Cuba had
undergone major economical expansions, but these expansions only benefited a small portion of the
population. According to John A., Booth, Wade, Christine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gerry Cahill Case Summary
Carnival s president and CEO, Gerry Cahill responded quickly to address the situation, and chose the
direct communication approach. He began with an apology, and acknowledgement of the passengers
challenging situation. In cases where the company was clearly in the wrong, this is proven to be very
effective (Guffey, Loewy). His message then stated that safety is their highest concern, and concluded
with the commitment to get them home as quickly as possible. Emphasizing safety, undoubtedly
supported the company from a litigation standpoint, while relaying a reason why they may be taking
longer than expected. Mr. Cahill won praise from the media. Therefore, I believe, we can conclude
that his message was deemed sincere. Utilizing multiple social

Reading Comprehension Is A Cognitive And Mental Problem...
The reading process is a cognitive and mental problem solving process of decoding symbols so
children can derive or construct the meaning of reading comprehension. The reading process is a
means of language, communication, and the sharing of ideas and information. Comprehension is when
children have the ability to understand or get meaning from the texts they read. With reading
comprehension children will benefit greatly when explicit instruction is used. By doing this children
can learn how to apply comprehension strategies before, during, and after they read. Reading
comprehension teaches children how to use text structures, summarize, and recall information they
learned and when to question it. Fluency is when children can read with expression, accuracy, and at a
quick rate. When teachers and parents guide a child s oral reading it has a positive impact on the child
s comprehension, word recognition, and fluency skills. Comprehension and fluency are so important
for a child to be successful at reading because this is how children begin to understand what they are
reading. Fluency is very important because this teaches children how to understand the text that they
read. When you become fluent in reading you re allowed to focus more on the content in the reading
instead spending a lot of time decoding each word. In order for children to become fluent readers they
need to focus on how to break words apart and how to decode them. Comprehension is dependent on

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Acne
Most people who suffer from acne go out and spend good money on common over the counter acne
treatment products. The truth is, most of these products are full of chemicals that can actually slow
down the healing of acne, and irritate your skin, causing farther breakouts. When an acne product has
20 ingredients listed on it, it can be hard to know if one of those ingredients is actually stopping you
from having success. It can be even harder when you can t pronounce the ingredient, much less know
what it is and how it is going to affect your skin. Most mainstream acne treatments are not only much
more expensive than common household items, but they also don t always work as well either. With

South Korea s order of preference among the choices are:
1. unification under a democratic system,
2. peaceful unification
3. the status quo,
4. unification under a communist system.
What can be said about these four outcomes as they apply to the Prisoner s Dilemma? First, neither
North nor South Korea sees the status quo as the worst choice. Second, each side sees the opponents
most desired outcome as its worst possible outcome. Third, each side prefers a peaceful unification to
the status quo. And lastly, neither side prefers a peaceful unification to its own best choice. The result
of this is, as in the matrix in Figure 1 the preferred choice is the dominating strategy for both North

settlement of unification to either the status quo or a peaceful unification. South Korea prefers a
democratic settlement to either the status que or a peaceful unification. Thus, the dilemma that faces
both sides is: since neither side can have its own best choice, they settle for the status quo. This is
done in spite of the fact that the possibility of a peaceful settlement to unification is exists (a peaceful
unification) that might be better for both sides than their own optimal choice. Neither side can choose

Montage Of A Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
Many of the poems within Montage of a Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes contain great meaning
as well as emotion embedded within them. Whether they are 3 lines or 20 lines long, vivid images and
explanations follow. The main focus of the series of poems are centralized on African Americans
living in Harlem in the 20 s and on and their opposition from the rest. The motif in nearly all poems
express discrimination, daily activities, and African American s struggle for equality. Out of all poems,
certain ones such as Theme for English B , Ballad of the Landlord , and Harlem #2 stood out. These
short poems have a similar correlation carrying the same meaning and or idea.

the teacher have the ability to teach, but even the students can teach the teacher something they never
knew regardless if he/she is older, white, and more free than he is. Langston Hughes states that all
Americans are shaped and defined differently and there is no specific way to be an American.
Moving on to the second poem; Ballad of the Landlord , we see back and forth conversations between
a white landlord and his unhappy black tenant. The black tenant tries explaining the poor conditions of
his apartment. Flaws such as broken steps, and the leaking roof are examples of imagery. The black
tenant tells his landlord that he won t be able to talk after he lands his fists on him. Without a further
ado, the white tenant calls the police and the black tenant instantly gets arrest and sentenced to 90 days
in county jail with no bail. Hughes expresses a theme of injustice for the black race in comparison to
how the white race is favored and carry unfair power in society. It is easily said that the condition of
the apartment explains the quality of a black person s justice: broken.
Lastly, in the poem Harlem #2 , the speaker right off the bat tosses many rhetorical questions that the
reader can ponder on. What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in

Asses the Extent to Which the Ideal of Equality Is Shared...
Assess the extent to which the ideal of equality is shared by all Australians
The idea of mateship and the trendy notion of a fair go for all emphasises the strength of Australian
support for the value of equality of opportunity, the ideal goal of all Australians having equal
opportunity to achieve success. Notions of Egalitarianism are what Australia strives to accomplish
within its society, through the implementing and practicing of legislations such as Anti Discrimination

established in order to conclude unfair treatment based on people s looks, beliefs or choices. Human

Only recently, the Australian Government introduced reforms to de facto relationships. This meant
that same sex couples are entitled to the same benefits and subject to the same obligations as opposite
sex couples (Property Relationships Act 1984 NSW). The legislation of Same Sex Relationships
(Equal Treatment in Commonwealth Laws General Law Reform) Act 2008 removed discriminatory
treatment of same sex couples. These acts included laws about tax, superannuation, Medicare, workers
compensations, employment entitlements and family law. Homosexuals are discriminated against in
terms of marriage, donating blood and are also victims to abuse due to their status. A study conducted
by the Victorian Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby revealed that 84% of participants aged between 14
and 21 had been treated unfairly because of their sexuality and almost half had suffered verbal or
physical abuse. With these inequalities present, it is difficult to achieve equality and fairness around
this group. Although Australia proposes the ideal of egalitarianism, it is hard to justify whether it is
present or not. The ideal goal and desire which Australia values within its diverse hybrid society is
that Australia is a lucky country , priding itself of mateship and equal opportunity which establishes
Australia s nation identity. However with conflict and discrimination against groups such as Muslim

Drugs should be legalized and/or decriminalized in the future in Washington State and the Unit ed

Harm Reduction and Drug Policy Alliance are just some of the groups working toward changing the

than treatment. In a seminal cost benefit analysis done in the early 1990s, the RAND Corporation
compared the programmatic productivity and the costs of enforcing the war on drugs in terms of
arresting and in carcerating dealers and their agents, versus treatment. RAND s research found that a
dollar spent on drug treatment saves society seven and a half dollars in reduced crime and regained
productivity. A good treatment facility will not only rehabilitate the patient from doing drugs but will
also give them tools to go back into society and have a job and be a good citizen not committing
crime. Also putting a drug abuser in treatment opposed to incarceration will give them a better chance
at getting a job because they will not have a criminal record. Treatment is more successful to
rehabilitate the drug abuser than any effort being made by law enforcement. Harm reduction helps to

aircraft designing, propulsion system is the basic structure. For an aircraft to leave the ground and be
in air we want a system which can speedily thrust it into air. Before going after history and detail we
have to learn what propulsion basically is. The word is derived from two Latin words: pro means
before or forwards and pellere meaning to drive. Propulsion means to push forward or drive an object
forward [1]. A propulsion system is a machine that generates thrust in order to push an object forward.
Propulsion systems work on newton s third law of action and reaction. Action is that working fluid is
accelerated by the engine and the reaction to this acceleration produces a force on the engine [1]. The

children would want to interact with me. I went during the afternoon for each of my visits so
unfortunately, I was only able to interact the fours. On my first day, Oct 9, 2017, I walked into the
room where the activity centers were and observed how the children were interacting with the centers
they were at and the children they were playing with.
After, walking around and observing the children, one of the boys from the Lego center began to show
me what he was building and then informed me that it was okay to come sit with him and the other
boy he was with, to watch them play. I watched them play and build a baby police station for a couple
of minutes before one of the boys wanted to go play at the block center with me where again he
wanted to build a baby police station . I played with a few other kids before it was time to go to carpet
time, which is where the children go and do a mini lesson. The lesson was over leaves, and the
excitement the children felt when receiving their leaves was the most heart warming experience for
me.
The second time, Oct 11, 2017, I went to the Child Study Center I was greeted by one of the boys I
had played with the first time (boy A) and he wanted to play at the music center again. However,
while we were playing at the music center there was another boy (boy B) playing with us. Boy A
wanted to show me a magic trick . He took the

along with pop culture, by creating the genre of science fiction. To propose Frankenstein as the creator
of the genre, science fiction must be properly defined. Brian Aldiss defined it as, the search for a
definition of man and his status ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She influenced Emily Brontë in writing Wuthering Heights with the frame narrative that Shelley made
popular. The monster with feelings motif was greatly popularized by Frankenstein, spawning Dracula,
along with many movies both directly based off Shelley s novel and unintentional similarities. This
came along with the mad scientist trope in many movies and H.G. Wells s The Island of Doctor
Moreau. Frankenstein has become a major pop culture figure beyond literature. Movies have
transformed the monster into a completely different character. Video games use monsters that
reference the novel frequently, along with zombies related to Frankenstein s monster. Frankenstein
made its way to music with Monster Mash and several other songs. It even appeared in the musical
Rocky Horror Picture Show. It is one of the most well known monster stories ever written.
Frankenstein has had a huge influence not only in literature, but also in pop

  • 2. Who Is Andrew Jackson Responsible For The Indian Removal Act Andrew Jackson Debate Response Although there have been arguments made in support for Andrew Jackson, his decision to [pass the Indian Removal Acts were completely unhumanitarian. Andrew Jackson has to be held responsible for the thousands of unnecessary deaths he caused, and he has to be portrayed for the man he really was: a corrupt leader that lead America into committing mass genocide against the indigenous people of America. This should not be looked over due to the other achievements Andrew Jackson had completed during his life. He committed mass genocide, he was a racist who was driven to kill and enslave other living, breathing humans, and he killed thousands of Native Americans for land that America had no need for. He needs to be held at fault for his actions, and they simply cannot be accounted for as humanitarian. Despite Andrew Jackson not being able to predict the outcomes and consequences of the Indian Removal Act, there is no justifying his actions. Andrew Jackson was the man who openly gave approval to committing mass genocide for the Native Americans, forcibly removed thousands of Native Americans from lands they had owned for thousands of years prior, and approved and appointed the individuals in charge of starting the trail of tears. In February 1830, the Indian Removal Act set in place that potentially allowed the president to grant land that was west of the Mississippi river in exchange for Native American s land within existing state borders. In theory, this plan would allow the native to earn money if they wished to move, and in return the Americans could acquire more land. The outcome of this, however, was a bloody massacre. Many of the Native Americans did not want to move, since they have been living there for thousands of years, longer than the whites have been there. Since many of them did not want to move, the Americans used force in an attempt to push the Native Americans west in a movement that killed over 4,000 natives. There is no justifying what Andrew Jackson did in order to gain more unnecessary land. Throughout his life, Andrew Jackson proved time and time again that he was, indeed, an extraordinarily racist man. As a result, his actions against the Native Americans ... • 3. Connections Between Aircraft Performance And Propulsion... 13. Aircraft Performance In this chapter we will make the connections between aircraft performance and propulsion system performance. For a vehicle in steady, level flight, as in Figure 13.1, the thrust force is equal to the drag force, and lift is equal to weight. Any thrust available in excess of that required to overcome the drag can be applied to accelerate the vehicle (increasing kinetic energy) or to cause the vehicle to climb (increasing potential energy). Figure 13.1: A schematic of the forces on an aircraft in steady level flight 13.1 Vehicle Drag Recall from fluids that drag takes the form shown in Figure 13.2, being composed of a part termed parasitic drag that increases with the square of the ... Every organization uses management or managerial theories as the foundation in which they use to implement, help increase productivity, and service quality (Hawthorne, n.d.). An organization doesn t use just one theory or concept when implementing their strategies but actually they use a combination of theories that work best for their workplace, purpose and workforce (Hawthorne, n.d.). It turns into a mixture of different theories that is blended for exactly what the organization needs. Not many organizations are going to openly publish what managerial theories they use to keep their company going. It s not good to show your hand of cards to your competitors. • 11. Grief In The Book Thief And The Prisoner Of Azkaban While grief is a central theme to both The Book Thief and The Prisoner of Azkaban, the novels have a disagreement about what grief looks like. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban supports the idea of a five stage cycle of grief, as theorized by Kubler and Ross. In contrast, The Book Thief does not focus on stages of grief. Instead, the novel takes a look at a duo faceted idea of grief, which are pain and anger. The two novels are inherently different because of who their narrators are; Death is the narrator of Zusak s novel, and a Rowling s narrator for the story is a presumably human third party. Grief in The Book Thief is very atypical to what many describe it as, whereas The Prisoner of Azkaban shows the grieving process as cyclic as typically theorized. Grief in The Book Thief has almost an uninvolved view of grief. The novel focuses on the events that result in grief itself, but do not follow up on grief as a continuing process. In most events within the novel, Death, the narrator, discusses what happens to Liesel and how she breaks down in that moment. In the excerpt examined from Part 5, The Showdown: June 24 , Liesel is first described as feeling extreme pain over her mother being let go by the Mayor and his wife from her clothes washing services (Zusak, 260). Later on, the narrator says Her sadness left her and she was overwhelmed with anger. (261). For the remainder of the chapter, Liesel stays angry, even going as so far to tell Isla, the mayor s wife, off (262 263). After this point, her anger and grief over her mother losing her last client (260) is not mentioned again. The grief, in the eyes of the narrator, seems to stay in that singular moment, and does not impact any future choices. Even later on in the book, when everyone she loves dies as the result of a bombing, the readers only see her grief in the moment, and nothing beyond it (538). In contrast, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban shows grief in a very cyclic and continuing process. The five stages of grief, as theorized by Kubler and Ross, is as follows: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance (Smaldone and Uzzo, 425). The cycle is more visible when looking at the Harry Potter series as a whole, but cycles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Camus famous fictional novel, he shows how one s perception of life can be effected when faced with death. The Stranger reflects Camus philosophical stance on absurdism. There is no truth, no certainty, or any unwavering, non relative laws in life. There is no sense in pursuing impossibilities. But if life is in a sense pointless, why continue living? It seems as if Meursault does not want himself to be happy. This can be assumed from reading the text. More specifically from chapter six of the Stranger on pages forty seven through fifty nine. He could have had new job which would have paid substantially more in Paris, a loving girlfriend whom wanted to marry him despite his flaws, and seemingly reliable and trustworthy friends. Meursault had so many doors open for him filled with opportunities but he throws all his chances of happiness away once he murders the Arab man on the beach. During the 2013 fiscal year, Courts enforced 7,256 charges of sexual harassment, out of which, women comprised 82.6 % of victims, while there were 27,687 cases of gender discrimination. Our era has seen new conventions and legal philosophies, which are steering towards female emancipation. Courts have passed laws such as Title VII, of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religious belief, gender, or national origin of the person. These laws empower women and aim to forestall them from facing any discrimination or hostility at work. Civil rights provide protection to women, but it fails to provide the sense of equality that women deserve. During the 20th century, our society has envisioned a vast movement for Equal Right Amendment (ERA). The ERA was a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution, which guaranteed equality between human races and women, under law. The bill failed in 1982, when it did not receive enough state votes for the confirmation. To a historian, North Country can present insight about gender inequality in the late 20th century. The shell of the macaron has derived way back to the Renaissance, according to Dominique Michelle. Macaron shells are made of almonds, which were mainly exported from Arabic countries. The almonds were transported to Rome, then into Italy to be made into an almond paste in the early 1500 s. This paste was served as a round, dry cookie that was feasted upon in savory dishes, rather than dessert. The paste finally made it s way to France in 1533 because of Italian wife of Henri II, Catherine de Medicis. She was born in Italy and was taught by her father the recipe of the almond paste. Supposedly, the cookie had saved her from dying of starvation. At this time, the cookie was served plain with no color or filling. Italian bakers named this delicacy a macaron . One of the first areas in Latin America to be affected by the Cuban Revolution was the small Central American country of Nicaragua. Cuba prior to the Cuban Revolution, was under a dictator and many people lived in poverty, and in the 1960s Nicaragua was faced with same problem. The reading process is a cognitive and mental problem solving process of decoding symbols so children can derive or construct the meaning of reading comprehension. The reading process is a means of language, communication, and the sharing of ideas and information. By doing this children can learn how to apply comprehension strategies before, during, and after they read. Reading comprehension teaches children how to use text structures, summarize, and recall information they learned and when to question it. Fluency is when children can read with expression, accuracy, and at a quick rate. When teachers and parents guide a child s oral reading it has a positive impact on the child s comprehension, word recognition, and fluency skills. Comprehension and fluency are so important for a child to be successful at reading because this is how children begin to understand what they are reading. Langston Hughes states that all Americans are shaped and defined differently and there is no specific way to be an American. Moving on to the second poem; Ballad of the Landlord , we see back and forth conversations between a white landlord and his unhappy black tenant. The black tenant tries explaining the poor conditions of his apartment. Flaws such as broken steps, and the leaking roof are examples of imagery. The black tenant tells his landlord that he won t be able to talk after he lands his fists on him. Without a further ado, the white tenant calls the police and the black tenant instantly gets arrest and sentenced to 90 days in county jail with no bail. Hughes expresses a theme of injustice for the black race in comparison to how the white race is favored and carry unfair power in society. It is easily said that the condition of the apartment explains the quality of a black person s justice: broken.
