My Views On Educational Psychology
Educational Psychology has really opened my eyes and encouraged me to think about who I am
and what kind of teacher I would like to be. In this class we have delved deep into ourselves with
different self assessments, which have lead to a better understanding of our strengths and
weaknesses. Getting to know myself so thoroughly allowed me to realize how dynamic each one of
my students will be and how my teaching style will need to be just as dynamic. Then, learning
about the different philosophies of educationhelped me grasp how to formulate my own teaching
philosophy. Last but not least, participating in the Junior Achievement program allowed me to get a
taste of actually being in the classroom and gave me the opportunity to test out my own philosophy
temporarily. Overall, understanding my personalities, learning about different educational
philosophies and seeing how they work in the classroom has showed me how to be a teacher that
makes a difference in the lives of my students. Throughout this semester, I really enjoyed taking
multiple self assessments to understand my own personality, but I think the Types of Intelligence
Assessment and the Educational Philosophies Assessment were the most helpful. First, the
Intelligence Assessment allowed me to connect my way of thinking and the subjects I do well in
with a type of intelligence. In my case, I scored higher in Logical and Mathematical Thinking and
in Insightful Skills for Analyzing Others, which makes sense because I

Political Economy Of America
INTRODUCTION
The political economy of the United States of America is at a crossroads. Mired in legislative
gridlock due to the polarization of political parties, struggling to fully recover from the global
recession brought on by the collapse of the financial industry, and lagging in comparison to some
of our peers in respect to education standards and social welfare policies, many have begun to
predict the decline of America and have declared the model of classical liberal capitalism defunct.
In previous centuries, our loosely structured economic system, based upon the principles derived
from free market capitalism and individual civil liberties, provided the American economy the
flexibility to shift, evolve, and innovate as markets, individual ... Show more content on

government belies its claims of wanting to foster economic growth by maintaining the largest
corporate tax among developed economies. This high corporate tax structure has precipitated the
flow of large corporations to tax havens around the world the effect of which has caused the U.S. to
miss out on valuable tax revenue while small and medium sized domestic businesses must struggle
to foot the bill themselves. The government would like to put the impetus on American corporations
to return their tax headquarters to the United States, but why would they when they can legally
obtain a lower rate elsewhere? There needs to be a compromise between business and government
in America that creates a lower, competitive corporate tax structure while still allowing government
to generate revenue that can be spent on developing effective social welfare

Analysis Of Frederick Jackson s Turner Frontier Thesis
After the Civil War, America experienced a vast change with the influx of foreigners. Many
believed that America was filled with multiple opportunities that could transform their lives.
However, due to mass immigration many were forced to face injustices, overcrowding, as well as
questioning their identity. Riis and Turner were both concerned with the influx of immigrants and
how the increase of people affected the American land. In Frederick Jackson s Turner frontier
thesis, he describes how important the frontier is to the development of America and how it
allowed many to obtain a new life. He describes how Americans have managed to transform the
wilderness little by little and making this new land their home, Little by little he transforms the
wilderness, but the outcome is not the old Europe, not simply the development of Germanic
germs...The fact is that here is a new product that is American . The frontier thesis is also used to
describe the individuality of America and prove that it is an independent country that no longer has
ties with other nations as well as making it clear that America is unique in its own way. Westward
expansion offered many the opportunity to re identify themselves and create a nation that offered a
new form of American life.
The Frontier thesis emphasizes that Americans are now free from European powers by stating that,
In another way the advance of the frontier decreased our dependence on England . Americans were
now using their skills and

Reflection About Hunger
You ask me what is hunger? Listen to me. Here I am, famished, empty, and with every little
feature of my bones exposed and the rumbling of my stomach near you. I will tell you. Hear me
out. This is not a joke, nor a pleasant position to be in. Yet, when you think of hunger, you say to
yourself, Oh yes, I ve been hungry before. I ve missed breakfast. Then, my stomach starts to growl,
big deal. No, you have it wrong. Put yourself in my shoes where I desire just a morsel of foodin the
dumpster in the alley.
Hunger is being thankful for the hamburger meal someone cheerfully gave to you. With my
stomach aching for a meal, an individual dressed in modesty spots me out from the busy crowd.
My clothes were covered in muck from laying on the grease smudged concrete from that night;
however, that individual approaches me with charm and politely asked how was my day. I told
them I was doing fine, but a meal right now would be great. The individual hands me their lunch
they were going to have for work and wishes me a great day. I looked at the bag like a child being
loose in a candy store. With glee, I opened the McDonald s bag and pulled out a Big Mac meal. I
consume each bite viciously, leaving no crumbs like it was my last time eating. I cried with
gladness because I hope I can thank that person again one day. It was my first meal since three
days ago. Hunger is dumpster diving in the alley behind a restaurant. It was a daily routine for me,
and I must quickly get it before

The United States Presidential Election Of 2016 Essay
The United States presidential election of 2016 occurred on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. This
was the 58th quadrennial U.S. presidential election. Voters elected a new president and vice
president through the electoral college. Businessman Donald Trump and Governor Mike Pence,
running on the Republican ticket, defeated the Democratic Party s nominees former Secretary of
State Hillary Clinton and Senator Tim Kaine. The defeat, considered improbable by most pre
election forecasts, was branded by various news organizations as an upset and the most shocking
American presidential election result in history. The results of the presidential election has left
many of the American people in an uproar. Many Americans are using their right to freedom of
speech to voice their opinions and show their opposition. The first amendment gives people the
right to freedom of speech that we all deserve, but since the election has this right been taken a bit
too far with all of the violent protests, the social media uproar and the exaggerations by the media?
Although the first amendment is the key to all human rights, there is a huge threat when taken to the
extreme. Without this amendment, many thoughts, beliefs and developments would not exist today
and the majority of society would be left in ignorance. This right was given to all American
citizens and allows them to speak their opinion, beliefs, and ideas to anybody that is willing to
listen to them. There are massive advantages to

China s Become A Global Superpower And Its Transformation...
I once regretted that I majored in Chinese Language and Literature. Even after completing my
Master s degree in China I could not see the practical use of my studies. However, now I think it has
become my strength to comprehend Chinese Language and culture as a student who seeks to
research on the International Studies related to Chinaas a Ph.D. candidate. During my study in
China, I witnessed China s emergence as a global superpower and its transformation from a
development aidrecipient to a donor country. This particularly intrigued me more than its language
and culture. The transformation was similar to my home country, Korea, but this time I was able to
witness it. China s growing foreign aidstarted to have a significant impact on the landscape of the
global development community and became a formidable alternative to existing Official
Development Assistant (ODA). A non OECD country, has become the center of controversies
with its foreign aid policies. I was intrigued with this phenomenon and encountered a question:
How do developed countries (traditional donors) and developing countries (development aid
recipients) work with China to enhance positive developments and minimize frictions? In the
pursuit of solution to my question, I enrolled the second Master s degree in Public Policy at KDI
School of Public Policy and Management where I gained a great deal of academic knowledge
about public policy, global governance and political economy. Also, I have built my

The Criminal Justice System Is Fair And True
Most people in America believe that our criminal justice system is fair and true. The idea that any
free citizen could be unjustly sentenced to prison or executed by the state is thought of as false.
Unfortunately now a days the judicial process has been infiltrated with false confessions,
eyewitness misidentification, improper forensic science, perjury, ineffective defense counsels,
messy police investigations and prosecutorial misconduct. Our criminal justicesystem is based on
the concept that every wrong has a cause and effect, thus forcing us to punish any and all offenders,
but with all the faults in our system how do we know who s guilty of committing the crime? Most of
the time this is when wrongful convictions occurs. A simple definition of wrongful conviction is
when innocent defendants are found guilty in criminal trials. Frequently these innocent defendants
are forced to go as far as to plead guilty to avoid death penalties or long prisonsentences. The
Number of wrongly convicted persons cannot be known with certainty, because no federal or state
agency keeps track of exonerations, let alone wrongful convictions. Many news stories, reports and
books fairly describe wrongful convictions in detail, although not all of these wrongful convictions
resulted in formal exonerations. In some of these cases, prosecutors insisted that the original verdict
was accurate despite strong new evidence of factual innocence, further clouding an understanding of

George Washington Code Of Honor Essay
George Washington towered over men with decorum. Men followed him, not out of fear but out of
respect and admiration. Washington was not a loquacious orator, but his silence spoke volumes.
When he spoke, briefly but authoritatively, others listened. They knew he meant what he said
because of his code of honor both on and off the battlefield. It was this code of honor that made
him a successful general and an even more successful President of the United States.
On February 22, 1732 (February 11, 1732 in the British defective calendar ), George Washington
inconspicuously entered the world in Westmoreland County, Virginia (Alden 2). Not part of the
British elite, his ancestors settled in the colonies from Britain and prospered with farming and
tobacco plantations. George Washington was just eleven years old when his father died. He
received only local and brief schooling... [and became fascinated with] a set of Rules of Civility
and Decent Behavior (Alden 5) diligently writing down 110 of those rules which would form his
code of conduct and civility. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on Thomas Malthus and the Principle of Population
1.Introduction
This essay deals with Thomas Malthus and the first two chapters of his Essay on the Principle of
Population . At first I will provide a short biographical note on Malthus and I will also mention his
main achievements. Then, a summary of Malthus main ideas of the first two chapters of mentioned
work follows. Afterward, the essay concludes with a personal note.
2.A short biography
Thomas Robert Malthus was born in 1766 (course textbook, n. d.) in Surrey, England, as the sixth
son of a wealthy intellectual family and he died in 1834 (Weikard, n. d.).
He was mainly concerned with population growth and poverty in the English society of his time. It
was an answer to the precarious human situation back then. Malthus ... Show more content on

This also puts a limit on the amount of procreation possible, but however, all species strive to
surpass these limitations (Malthus, p. 2). In this aspect, human beings are not any different from
plants or animals, but in contrast to them they do not only act out of instinct. Additionally, they use
their reasoning to determine whether they will be able to care sufficiently for their children
(Malthus, p. 2).
Malthus states that there are certain checks on population and points out that there is no society
without any check applied. An unchecked population increases in a geometrical ratio, what means
that it doubles itself every twenty five years. Instead, the available food does not increase
geometrically, but gradually diminishes, because of the limited amount of fertile land. In contrast to
the population, the agricultural production, under favourable circumstances, is able to only
increase in an arithmetical ratio (Malthus, p. 6). A gap between population growth and the amount
of food available rises. As a result, to further increase the food supply, it is necessary to improve
the quality of the soil (Malthus, p. 4). Malthus points out that there is still land which is not
cultivated, even in Europe, and that especially in this region it is possible to enhance the soil
quality due to the progress of the industrialization, but it will be gradually diminishing (Malthus, p.

High Stakes Testing In Schools Essay
Should our public schools continue to allow high stakes assessments, for example the FCAT, to
play a large factor in determining if a student has met mastery of grade level standards? Numerous
students do not test well due to nerves or other disabilities; some students even become ill which
equates to inaccurate testresults. Additionally, testing is such an enormous process that students are
losing out on valuable classroom instruction. Finally, with students pending graduation or
promotion to the next grade these high stakes tests are forcing teachers to teach to the test to ensure
greater success.
High stakes testing is a high pressure situation for any student at all grade levels. There are many
seniors ready to graduate but have not passed their final state assessment to meet that requirement
or a younger elementary student pending promotion to the next grade based on the results of the
state assessment. No wonder kids are literally a bundle of nerves, making themselves sick over
these tests. As stated by Melissa Nott, a seasoned public school teacher, Children in high stakes

which goal to shoot the ball or the importance to defend your goal it would be a losing game. In
order to be successful in the assessments the teachers and students must equally understand and
know what the expectations of the assessment are and how they can work together to meet these
expectations (Johnson). When it comes to high states testing failure is not an option for the student

Hymn To Odyn Analysis
Apollo Hymn Homer s hymn to Pythian Apollo is written as a homage to Apollo, composed of
stories illustrating the important aspects of his life. Homer goes on to describe in detail how
Apollo wishes to find a suitable site for his all knowing oracle, how he ultimately decides upon
building his temple at the site of Delphi, Hera s birth to the monstrous Typhaon, and conclusively,
how Apollorecruits his Cretan followers or priests. The hymn opens with a description of worship
for the god Apollo, while he plays his lyre. With the first few notes of his song, the other immortals
quickly gather to the place where the melody can be heard. Apollo s music is entrancing, all present

Homer goes on to describe how as Apollo was considering how to acquire these followers, he
took notice of a passing ship on the sea full of Cretan sailors. Intercepting them on their journey,
Apollo transformed into a dolphin and lept upon their boat, and caused the ship to shake with his
mighty power. The sailors, unrecognizing of the god, became fearful and followed the powerful
wind that lead them to Crisa. Once upon the shore, Apollo revealed his true and mighty form to
the sailors installing an awesome fear in each of them (278) and they rejoiced in serving him.
With the aid of Apollo, the sailors all became initiated so they may devote themselves to the
practices and worship of Apollo. This story highlights how Apollo came to be known as Apollo
Delphinios, the root of the word meaning dolphin, and likewise, how the location received the name
Delphi. Along with the tales asserting Apollo s birth and origin, the hymn also discusses Hera and
the monster Typhaon that she creates. Enraged with her husband Zeus, since he has on his own born
the wise goddess Athena from his forehead, Hera hopes to give birth a monster that will become
famous among mortals, but will not go against the sacred marriage vow that she and Zeus share.
Hera prayed to the Earth and the Heavens, as well as Tartarus, asking them for a child who will
have strong enough powers to rival even Zeus and his own father Cronus. The Earth

Themes In The 5th Wave By Rick Yancey
The 5th Wave, a young adult, science fiction novel by Rick Yancey, can be used to teach many
themes to its readers. Some of these themes include, people are defined by the choices they make,
family is worth dying for, and survival depends on being dedicated to others, not yourself. The
characters can teach us a lot by their experiences and Rick Yanceymost likely did this on purpose.
There are many examples in the text to support these recurring themes. To start with, we will
examine the theme, people are defined by the choices they make. One of the greatest examples for
supporting this theme in The 5th Wave, is the character, Evan Walker. He is half human
and half
alien. However, he abandons the aliens and chooses to be human. In this case, being human just
means siding with them, especially since there are few left. Evan made choices to be human
many times. In the first place, he didn t kill Cassie on the highway. He describes it like he
couldn t. Therefore, he showed feelings of guilt, love, pity, and other human emotions. This was
his initial act of starting to side with mankind. He even saves her when she s dying in the snow
bank, taking her in and nursing her back to health. Later on in the book, he gives up his house to
burn it as a distraction. Once they continue on their journey, he protects her from soldiers that the
aliens are training. Which means, he killed his own in order to keep Cassie safe. Eventually, he
even breaks into the alien s main base,

Disney Fair Use
The first thing that should be done before anything else in this case, is the proper definition of
fair use. Merriam Webster s defines fair use as the following: a legal doctrine that portions of
copyrighted materials may be used without permission of the copyright owner provided the use is
fair and reasonable, does not substantially impair the value of the materials, and does not curtail the
profits reasonably expected by the owner. The U.S. Copyrightoffice states that these are the
activities that can be claimed as fair use: criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching,
scholarship, and research. So to further analyze fair use, I shall share some observations. Fair use
can be claimed if it does not substantially impair the worth of the movies used in the video, or lose
any money for disney. The strategy can also be used if it is used in the context of criticizing,
reporting, or providing commentary on something. Teaching, research, and scholarship are also
forms protected by copyright.
So first we will look at if Disney s profits are harmed, let s take a look at what disney is worth:
Disney currently has about 1.61 billion shares outstanding. With a share price of around $94 per
share, that puts Disney s market capitalization at roughly $150 billion. The Motley Fool. Looking

There exist numerous differences between the type of social entrepreneurship exhibited by the
Khalifa Fund programs, and the general idea of commercial, entrepreneurship. But perhaps the
greatest similarity both types of entrepreneurships have is the pursuit of revenue. Both types of
entrepreneurship recognize opportunities for business and this precisely when the need to innovate
is invoked. However, for social entrepreneurs, the social missing of their innovation takes central
part and influences greatly how they perceive business opportunities. In most cases, ethics, integrity

were able to win on Monday night, thanks to a 19 point third quarter performance from point
guard Russell Westbrook. Westbrook s play in the third quarter was the key to Oklahoma City s
comeback as they were down 13 points at the half. The first half was not good for the Thunder or
Westbrook as he struggled with his jump shot. As a team, the Thunder shot 45.5 percent from
the field but shot 50.0 percent from three point range, which kept them in striking distance. But
what killed Oklahoma City in the first two quarters was turnovers as they had 10. Those 1o
turnovers, lead to 15 points for the Warriors. As I mentioned earlier, Westbrook struggled on
offense as he was getting outplayed by his counterpart, two time MVP Stephen Curry. In the first
half, Curry had 14 points on 5 of 11 shooting from the field, to go along with six rebounds, six
assists, and three steals. Westbrook was getting beat at his own game, which is stuffing the stat
sheet and making an impact in every facet of the game. In the first half, Westbrook only scored
three points, as he shot a horrendous 1 of 8 from the field. With Westbrook not making an impact in
the scoring department, he made sure to get his teammates involved early and often as he dished
out eight assists in the first half. Thankfully, on the other end of his

Essay on Ritalin, Helpful and Harmful
Ritalin Helpful and Harmful
When 20/20 and Oprah did segments about ADD on television, many parents felt that they finally
knew what was wrong with their kids. They rushed to the doctor s office to find out how they
could fix the problem. Most soon discovered a drug called Ritalin. It sounded simple. All they had
to do was give their rambunctious or hyperactive child a pill three or four times a day, and
magically he or she would be a perfect little angel. Most were so happy to find a cure that they did
not stop to contemplate other methods of treatment, possible side effects, or get a second opinion.
Dr. Sharon Collins believes this is because, It takes time for parents and teachers to talk to kids. It

Many experts feel physicians should be more aware of the side effects of the drug and look to
alternate solutions before prescribing Ritalin. Some experts also believe that Ritalin should be
only part of the treatment for patients with ADD or ADHD. The drug, which now saturates the
market, produces the same sensations as the narcotic speed if someone who is not ADD or
ADHD takes it. Because of its narcotic nature, Ritalin is considered by law to be a controlled
substance, and its dosage and intake must be carefully monitored. Parents see Ritalin as a quick fix
and urge doctors to prescribe it for their children, thus leading to premature or improper diagnoses,
more people having adverse side effects to the drug, and an increased availability of the drug for
non medicinal purposes.
Many doctors do not take the time to perform a complete evaluation of the patient who is
suspected to have ADD or ADHD. They listen to the teacher or parent and assume because the
child has a short attention span or is very hyperactive that the child must have ADD. The doctors
do not take time to examine other possibilities for the child s behavior such as learning disabilities,
depression, or anxiety disorders that look like ADHD, but do not need Ritalin (Hancock 55).
This need to find a quick fix has

Psychological Needs Theory
This article talks about the psychological needs of human beings where their satisfaction can
have a positive or a negative effect in the life of an individual. For instance, the satisfaction of
psychological needs will make a person have self determination, motivation, social development
and well being. On the contrary, the dissatisfaction of psychological needs will make a person
aggressive, be ill be and will lack self defense and a way of solving issues soundly. The theory of
self determination developed by American Psychologists supported that satisfaction of
psychological needs will make an individual to be determined in life and have the strength to face
situations positively. First, psychological need satisfaction and frustration can lead to either dark
and bright side of a person s character. Thus, psychological development is what brings out the best
or beast in a person and defines their character, thinking capacities, their attitudes and depression
levels. Various benefits accompany the satisfaction of these psychological needs which include
fostering human growth through intrinsic motivationand integration and attainment of good health.
The dissatisfaction of psychological needs will make a person to lack self control, have rigid
behavioral patterns and oppositional defiance. Although such negative vices may develop in a
person, there are ways of coping with psychological need satisfaction. Self determination theory

Postmodern Perspectives On Religion Often Favor A Non...
Postmodern perspectives on religion often favor a non theistic approach regarding traditional
Abrahamic religions. Regarding the first set of quotes, John Shelby Spong in his respective work
and Don Cupitt in The Way to Happiness each suggest that seeing religion theistically, while
orthodox and familiar, often causes an individual to miss the deeper purpose of being religious. Don
Cupitt clearly asserts that theistic religionis outdated and no longer agrees with modern scientific
explanations of the natural world. Holding a similar vantage point, Spong even boldly claims that

That in mind, the fourth set of quotes imply that this conviction of God is not present in the
relationships themselves with nature, other people, and spiritual beings, but rather in the
compassion and empathy that arise as a result. In clearer terms, love, or God, does not establish the
relationships but God surfaces as a result of allowing oneself to be vulnerable and open to a
meaningful bond.
I agree with William James and Martin Buber, although the idea of I Thou could be
misunderstood and instead taken in a theistic light. In doing so, the concept of It Thou will
appear contradictory; logically, if God is not a theistic being, one cannot possess a personal
relationship with Him. However, by seeing the universe as a Thou versus an It, the compassion
becomes apparent in one s personal bonds. To be aware and to address the eternal Thou is to be
mutually and timelessly indulgent in gratitude and respect for the other party and to additionally
recognize the deeper realm of humankind the one beyond the egocentric ways of superficial and
purely objective thought. In William James The Will to Believe, he highlights the subjective nature
of religion. Individuals act upon their notions of faith and morality. To establish a task as moral or
immoral depends on one s personal proof and not necessarily on what is

The Age Determination Of Latent Prints
The amount of information that can be obtained through someone s hands is astounding. One can
determine the years of scarring from hard work, or the blisters from misuse. The most
information can be obtained at the very tips of fingers, and what they leave behind. Fingerprints
supply great evidence to help identify who was there, and possibly how many people were there.
However, the problem becomes that there are too many prints found at one scene. It is difficult to
try and determine when they were made based on physical appearance and common techniques.
Nowadays, the age determination of latent prints can be achieved with a new approach using the
sweaty residue of latent prints, and a small electrical charge. In 2011, a group from... Show more

In a laboratory setting, they set up multiple stations where they had placed two fingerprints from
the same people, at different times. The results of the experiment showed that after 14 days of
being left alone, the prints left behind on nonconductive surfaces showed significant electric
decay. They were then able to determine which print was placed earlier, and which later (Watson,
Prance, Beardsmore Rust, Prance, 2011). The scanner works on the residue left behind in the
latent prints, which is mainly the different forms of sweat. Sweat by itself is a combination of
organic molecules, lipids, amino acids, and inorganic free ions (Yamashita French, n.d.). These
free ions act as an electrolyte solution, and allow electrical currents to be passed through, and
returned to the original source to complete the current. By measuring where the current is
completed, the scanner can construct a digital image of what the print would look like. The
scanner s released charge must be small enough to have a reaction from the latent residue, but it
cannot be too large as to have a reaction from the surface in question. Although the scanner works
in a laboratory setting, there are still many problems that need to be addressed before it can be
applied to the field. The first is that the testing surface needs to be nonconductive. The main reason
for a nonconductive surface is that the charge

The Dome Of The Rock In Ravenna, Italy
Great pieces of architecture like The Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem and the Church of San
Vitale in Ravenna, Italy are important to Byzantine and Islamic Art. Both structures were not just
places of worship, but showed the power of the men behind them and the growth of the culture at
this time. San Vitale which was constructed under the Bishop Ecclesius around 540 to 548 A.D.
and was erected to show the power and achievements of Emperor Justinian. The banker Julius
Argenteus provided the funds for San Vitale, and it was dedicated to Bishop Maximian. The

The bishop was also in charge of building two other churches, San Michele and Santa Maria, but
San Vitale is larger in scale than these two churches, designed as a centrally planned octagonal
two story congressional church (Tronchin and Knight 130).The church features two centric
octagons. The dome covered inner octagon rises above the surrounding octagon to provide the
interior with clerestory lighting (Gardner and Kleiner B: 255). This octagon shape brings the
parishioners to the center of the church, allowing them to become part of the service, which is
not found in a traditional church. The dome is constructed on eight piers and arches which are
surrounded by an ambulatory and a gallery. Much of the inside is marble and gold and the church
walls have many windows to let the sun in to shine on this gold. Light filtered through the
alabaster paned windows and plays over glittering mosaics and flowing marble (Gardner 255)
which shows the beauty and lavish pieces Justinian put into this construction, even though the
outside is dull and made mostly of bricks. However, this becomes another difference concerning
these two monuments. The dome of San Vitale shows the Roman influence, with a figure of
Christ, marbles and glittering galleries and the Dome of the Rock features a more ordinary

manufacturer can obtain any sort of brand loyalty. The automobile industry is led by four main
powerhouses in the United States. As of May 2015, General Motors has a 17.7% market share,
Ford has a 15.1% market share, Toyota has a 14.5% market share, and Chrysler has a 12.5% market
share so far this year. Worldwide, these numbers vary, but General Motors and Toyota are the
leading manufacturers by multiple percentage points. When analyzing any industry it is best to
look at Porter s Five Forces of Competition model. In the automotive industry, there is not a whole
lot of threat of new entrants to the industry. The industry has high entry barriers, which cause for
new entrants to have a hard time competing with the bigger manufacturers. The economies of scale
limit competition as well. There is really no threat of substitute products in the automobile industry
either. An automobile provides convenience, independence, and a quicker way of getting to a
destination. In some cities the threat of mass transit poses a little threat, but transit like New York,
Boston, and Chicago are not readily available in rural America. There is a large amount of buyer

Persuasive Essay On Animal Farm
Many people challenge the rules for several different reasons. It s always appropriate to
challenge the rules when the rules are unfair, or against what you think is right. You can
challenge the rules to make them fair and equal for everyone. Just how the two excerpts, Animal
Farm by George Orwell, and Texas vs. Johnson, by the U.S. Supreme Court. These two excerpts
explore the issue of when it is appropriate to challenge the rules. Challenging the rules can lead to
positive or negative outcomes. You can change the rules for a good reason, or a bad one, but it s
always better to challenge the rules in order to make them more equal. In the story Animal Farm,

The Prevalence Of The Problem Of Drug Smuggling
Drug smuggling is considered as one of the illegal trades responsible for creating diverse negative
impacts on the society as well as the global community, hence, the concerted efforts placed by many

drug smugglingin various countries and to point out potential reason that escalate the menace
despite existence of efforts targeted at preventing it. Furthermore, the paper targets at offering

Reciprocal Coevolution and Plant-Pollinator Interactions...
Interactions between plants and their pollinators has been discussed in the past very frequently.
Since the Darwinian times, the topic flourished. There are two aspects that have an important role
in this relationship that have been affected by the history. The first being the floral mechanisms and
the ecological relationships between plants and the second are the evolutionary processes that
affect the pollination (1). As the interest progressed, the approaches became more specific and
detailed which led to a more fine scaled insight into plant pollinator relationship specialization. Due
to specific interactions between the plant and its pollinator a terminology of a plant syndrome has
been introduced, which gives a possibility to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A generalized pollination system that has been widespread as well as the specialization of the
pollination systems has been questioned (Waser, 1996). The specificity of the pollination
relationships is thought to have roots in the preference of individuals. Specific scents, colours,
shapes and morphology and combinations of those attract different groups of pollinators. The
obvious colour preference or simply the morphology of the flower that determines the size of a
species that can get to the pollen and nectar affect the pollinator s response. Due to certain
restrictions, only specific species can act as a vector and that led to specialization of a relationship.
It was more of a key and lock mechanism rather than a coincidental coevolution. Since the species
that could not get to the specific flower, carried on until it found a suitable one. This therefore does
not necessarily mean that either the flower or the vector altered their morphology just to increase
the fitness. All of the above arguments are also thought to be the root of the mentioned plant
syndrome that specifies the pollinator response and the species that acts as a vector. There have
been several links suggested and studied into depth. One of them was linking pollinator behaviour
to plant mating patterns. That suggests a high specialization of a relationship since either of them
had to adjust their natural behaviour to the organism they interact with. According to the National
Research Council

Burgess insists that he based nadsat, the invented slang of the teenage hooligans in A Clockwork
Orange, on Russian for aesthetic reasons, but it is believed that this experience influenced his
portrayal of Alex and his gang. The dystopian world of the novel draws attention to the elements
of the American and English societies that Burgess detested. Burgess had a tendency toward
anarchy and felt the socialistic British welfare state was too willing to sacrifice individual liberty
in favor of social stability (A Clockwork Orange). He despised American popular culture due to its

Mexico Economy And Gdp Of Mexico
MEXICO ECONOMY AND GDP
Mexico is the 15th largest nominal GDP in the world and the 11th largest by Purchasing Power
Parity which is estimated at $2.2602 trillion in 2015 and a $1.3673 trillion in nominal exchange
rate. Its annual average growth from 1995 2000 was 5.1% but dropped to 3.02 % over the next
10 years. In the wake of the global financial crisis, Mexico GDP further took a nose drive by a
6.2% decrease; the economy is gradually normalizing as the GDP expanded to at 2.1% in 2014
a two year consecutive growth. It is expected to modestly rebound in 2015 to 2.7% before
averaging a robust 3.5% between the fiscal year 2016 2019 this growth when compared with
other regional peers is slow, a reflection of the country weak trade ties with Asia. (EIU, 2015) But
unlike most countries, it was able to maintain a moderate public debt of 45% of its GDP and a low
but permanent current account deficit of 0.8% which can mainly be attributed to the country s
commercial surplus with the United States and a deficit with Asia, China and the rest of the world.
It has been argued that successful implementation of structural reform could potentially eliminate
some competitive bottleneck thus boosting the economy to 4 5% by 2019 (export.gov) but this is
an unlikely achievement in light of the persisting institutional weakness towards implementing
government reform program. The country trade balance would suffer from lower oil export as a
result of decline in population and weaker oil price

The Portrayal Of Women In The Media
According to a Dove Research, Only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful.
The media has affected women through standards. Three changes that should be done to stop the
effects of women portrayed in the media are stopping the sexism, photoshopping and stereotyping.
The portrayal of women in the media affects women and young girls but this issue can be solved.
In many movies, music videos, ads, etc. we see sexism between males and females. According to
Gender Issues In The Media, There are many fewer females than males in almost all forms of
mainstream media and those who do appear are often portrayed in very stereotypical ways. This
shows that if women are seen in the same position as men they are stereotyped and

Effects Of Westernization In Japan
In the last fifty years, Japan has been undergoing a series of considerable changes such as the
development in technology, the improvement of its economy and the changes of its culture
through westernization. Westernization is a phenomenon which consists of countries transformed
by ideals, concepts and practices from western countries. Japan is a country which is known for
its deep changes caused by this phenomenon, especially in the food industry. In only the last fifty
years, the well known traditional Japanese diet has been transformed completely. The aim of this
essay is to address the what makes a balanced and unbalanced diet and what are their effects on
our lives. This essay will also discuss the changes in the Japanese diet caused by... Show more

On one hand, the changes of diet that westernization have brought to Japan are relatively positive.
From a social point of view, the westernization of the Japanese diet was able to improve many
aspects of the Japanese population, the most prominent being the lengthening of the average
lifespan and the reduction of the deaths caused by stroke in Japan. Economically, the
westernization in Japan has been able to allow Japanese people to have access to food with high
nutrient value, such as meat. However, on the other hand, the Japanese westernization has also
brought several negative demerits in Japan. It has undoubtedly had an enormous negative impact
health wise. It has brought forth a series of physical and mental illnesses, some very serious such
as diabetes. It also brought forth to two very pressing economical issues; low self sufficiency,
which consists of Japan not being able to self sustain and be independent when having to provide
food, and the decline of traditional industries. After looking into and researching about both the
merits and demerits of the westernization in Japan, in my opinion, the demerits of the
westernization occurring in Japan slightly outweigh the merits. I believe this because while the
westernization in Japan does have merits, I think the demerits are much more serious and could
grow out of hand if something is not done to contain said problems. However, I do not necessarily
believe that westernization is also a completely negative phenomenon that has occurred in Japan.
From my point of view, I believe, to prevent the worsening of the situations in Japan, there should
be more awareness of the current situation to then be able to have more control of the issues, in that
way, Japan could avoid the further worsening of the current

Community For My Old Volunteer Group
Community for me, is feeling connected, accepted, and at home. It is where everyone is
working together for a mutual cause, and having fun doing it. It is not so much a place to me,
as it is a feeling. I can go to any town, city, or community but it does not necessarily take a place
in my heart as much as the sense of community I have experienced before. What other place to
find community than my old volunteer group, ironically called FOCUS on Community.
FOCUS is an organization whose mission is to reach out to the people of our community, like
teens and families, to prevent substance abuse, smoking, alcoholism, and even to help families
that are already dealing with these issues. My favorite program was the F.A.S.T. program
Families And Schools Together because I worked one on one with people and really saw that
we were making a difference in these people s lives. At the time I first volunteered for F.A.S.T. I
did not realize exactly what I was doing, I merely signed up because I wanted to help out in some
way. However, I soon realized that we truly were bringing these families closer. We gave them a
safe environment with dinner and activities, and a chance every week to have one on one time with
the child of their choice. This helped them solve arguments and build stronger and closer
relationships with children who are having a rough time. Another place where I felt an immense
sense of community was Italian Fest. I have volunteered at this festival for the past

Discuss the extent to which recent reforms to murder in the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 are a
change for the better but have not necessarily satisfied those who campaigned for change. [50]
Loss of control is a partial defence to a charge of murder. If it is successful, D will be found guilty
of manslaughter. This allows the judge discretion in sentencing. Loss of control replaced the
former defence of provocation. This law is set out in s54 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009.
The old defence of provocation was abolished by s56 CJA 2009. Under the new law, if D wants the
defence to be successful, they need to have lost self control, there must be a qualifying trigger and
a person of the same sex and age should react in the same way ... Show more content on

The second situation arises where D s long term alcohol/drug abuse has led to a recognised medical
condition (such as alcohol or drug dependence syndrome) which causes an abnormality of mental
functioning. (R v Wood). Giving the judgement of the court, Sir Igor Judge explained that the jury
must first consider whether the defendant s syndrome was of such an extent and nature that it
constituted an abnormality of mind induced by illness or disease. If they decided it was, they must
then consider whether the defendant s mental responsibility at the time was substantially impaired
by the syndrome.
The Law Commission had proposed removing the loss of control criteria completely. This was
because it was recognised that women in abusive relationships may kill from a combination of
anger fear, frustration and a sense of desperation. The government decided not to follow this
proposal. D must prove loss of self control. The only concession is that loss of control need not be
sudden. It is probable that some abused women will not be able to use the defence.
Sexual infidelity is no longer allowed as a qualifying trigger for the defence. Yet the defence of
provocation was largely created for such situations and also widely biased towards men. If
someone finds their partner cheating, they are very likely to lose self control, but if this leads to D
killing V, they will no longer have a partial defence to a charge of murder. Surely that contradicts
the aim

Honda is a well known global manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles. This means that its
contemporary information system is highly organized for collection, organization, storage,
exchange, and communication of useful information. This efficient system helps support its
business operations, and decision making. To facilitate the flow and take advantage of modern

introduced. The waterfall approach, iterative approach, and agile approach are some examples of
them.
This report contains three main parts. The first part gives an introduction of two system
development approaches. The system development life cycle approach is recommended in Honda s
global information systems environment. The second part talks about two other methodologies. It
then discusses the potential deployment of structured systems analysis and design method in
Honda s global context. At the end of this report, an ethical based risk assessment table is
presented. Some discussion is elaborated based on the table.
Introduction of systems development approaches
There are quite a few systems development approaches. In this report, systems development life
cycle (SDLC) and rapid application development (RAD) have been discussed.
Both methodologies can yield productive information systems if they are applied to appropriate
development projects and under the right circumstances. Since business needs and system

The Excusess In I M Your Teacher, Not Your...
There are many similarities between I m Your Teacher, Not Your Internet Service Provider and
The Dog Ate My Flash Drive, and Other Tales of Woe ; both essays are written in first person
and incorporate opinions on the excuses that students have given in the past. In the first story
written by Ellen Laird, an author that has thirty years of experience being an educator and
essayist explains the difficulties of how online classes differ from face to face classes. In the
other story written by Carolyn Foster Segal, the author talks about the many excuses her students
have given her over the course of her teaching career. The writers of the two essays add in humor
and sarcasm to help explain the different examples relating to the points. The examples given in
each essayexplains how teachers feel when students give them excuses.
In I m Your Teacher, Not Your Internet Service Provider , Laird is able to explain how teachers
feel when students give bogus excuses to them. She stated, One student, emailed me days after a
paper was due, indicating that he had traveled to New York for a Yankees game and would submit
the essay in a couple of weeks (Laird 417). The author mentions that this situation would not
normally happen in a face to face class. As for the other essay, Segal describes the... Show more

In The Dog Ate My Flash Drive, and Other Tales of Woe , the author mentions that it has become
harder to tell if students were making up their excuses. She states that many excuses involve people
throwing up blood instead of just being sick (Segal 458). It came to a point to where she thought
she had heard it all until another student gave her an overdramatic excuse causing her to reconsider
reality. For the other essay, the author mentions that online students tend to pick and choose which
assignments they want to complete. By doing this, she was able to see which students were

  • 2. My Views On Educational Psychology Educational Psychology has really opened my eyes and encouraged me to think about who I am and what kind of teacher I would like to be. In this class we have delved deep into ourselves with different self assessments, which have lead to a better understanding of our strengths and weaknesses. Getting to know myself so thoroughly allowed me to realize how dynamic each one of my students will be and how my teaching style will need to be just as dynamic. Then, learning about the different philosophies of educationhelped me grasp how to formulate my own teaching philosophy. Last but not least, participating in the Junior Achievement program allowed me to get a taste of actually being in the classroom and gave me the opportunity to test out my own philosophy temporarily. Overall, understanding my personalities, learning about different educational philosophies and seeing how they work in the classroom has showed me how to be a teacher that makes a difference in the lives of my students. Throughout this semester, I really enjoyed taking multiple self assessments to understand my own personality, but I think the Types of Intelligence Assessment and the Educational Philosophies Assessment were the most helpful. First, the Intelligence Assessment allowed me to connect my way of thinking and the subjects I do well in with a type of intelligence. In my case, I scored higher in Logical and Mathematical Thinking and in Insightful Skills for Analyzing Others, which makes sense because I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Political Economy Of America INTRODUCTION The political economy of the United States of America is at a crossroads. Mired in legislative gridlock due to the polarization of political parties, struggling to fully recover from the global recession brought on by the collapse of the financial industry, and lagging in comparison to some of our peers in respect to education standards and social welfare policies, many have begun to predict the decline of America and have declared the model of classical liberal capitalism defunct. In previous centuries, our loosely structured economic system, based upon the principles derived from free market capitalism and individual civil liberties, provided the American economy the flexibility to shift, evolve, and innovate as markets, individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... government belies its claims of wanting to foster economic growth by maintaining the largest corporate tax among developed economies. This high corporate tax structure has precipitated the flow of large corporations to tax havens around the world the effect of which has caused the U.S. to miss out on valuable tax revenue while small and medium sized domestic businesses must struggle to foot the bill themselves. The government would like to put the impetus on American corporations to return their tax headquarters to the United States, but why would they when they can legally obtain a lower rate elsewhere? There needs to be a compromise between business and government in America that creates a lower, competitive corporate tax structure while still allowing government to generate revenue that can be spent on developing effective social welfare ... • 4. Analysis Of Frederick Jackson s Turner Frontier Thesis After the Civil War, America experienced a vast change with the influx of foreigners. Many believed that America was filled with multiple opportunities that could transform their lives. However, due to mass immigration many were forced to face injustices, overcrowding, as well as questioning their identity. Riis and Turner were both concerned with the influx of immigrants and how the increase of people affected the American land. In Frederick Jackson s Turner frontier thesis, he describes how important the frontier is to the development of America and how it allowed many to obtain a new life. He describes how Americans have managed to transform the wilderness little by little and making this new land their home, Little by little he transforms the wilderness, but the outcome is not the old Europe, not simply the development of Germanic germs...The fact is that here is a new product that is American . The frontier thesis is also used to describe the individuality of America and prove that it is an independent country that no longer has ties with other nations as well as making it clear that America is unique in its own way. Westward expansion offered many the opportunity to re identify themselves and create a nation that offered a new form of American life. The Frontier thesis emphasizes that Americans are now free from European powers by stating that, In another way the advance of the frontier decreased our dependence on England . • 5. Reflection About Hunger You ask me what is hunger? Listen to me. Here I am, famished, empty, and with every little feature of my bones exposed and the rumbling of my stomach near you. I will tell you. Hear me out. This is not a joke, nor a pleasant position to be in. Yet, when you think of hunger, you say to yourself, Oh yes, I ve been hungry before. I ve missed breakfast. Then, my stomach starts to growl, big deal. No, you have it wrong. Put yourself in my shoes where I desire just a morsel of foodin the dumpster in the alley. Hunger is being thankful for the hamburger meal someone cheerfully gave to you. With my stomach aching for a meal, an individual dressed in modesty spots me out from the busy crowd. My clothes were covered in muck from laying on the grease smudged concrete from that night; however, that individual approaches me with charm and politely asked how was my day. I told them I was doing fine, but a meal right now would be great. The individual hands me their lunch they were going to have for work and wishes me a great day. I looked at the bag like a child being loose in a candy store. With glee, I opened the McDonald s bag and pulled out a Big Mac meal. I consume each bite viciously, leaving no crumbs like it was my last time eating. I cried with gladness because I hope I can thank that person again one day. It was my first meal since three days ago. Hunger is dumpster diving in the alley behind a restaurant. It was a daily routine for me, and I must quickly get it before ... • 6. The United States Presidential Election Of 2016 Essay The United States presidential election of 2016 occurred on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. This was the 58th quadrennial U.S. presidential election. Voters elected a new president and vice president through the electoral college. Businessman Donald Trump and Governor Mike Pence, running on the Republican ticket, defeated the Democratic Party s nominees former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Senator Tim Kaine. The defeat, considered improbable by most pre election forecasts, was branded by various news organizations as an upset and the most shocking American presidential election result in history. The results of the presidential election has left many of the American people in an uproar. Many Americans are using their right to freedom of speech to voice their opinions and show their opposition. The first amendment gives people the right to freedom of speech that we all deserve, but since the election has this right been taken a bit too far with all of the violent protests, the social media uproar and the exaggerations by the media? Although the first amendment is the key to all human rights, there is a huge threat when taken to the extreme. Without this amendment, many thoughts, beliefs and developments would not exist today and the majority of society would be left in ignorance. This right was given to all American citizens and allows them to speak their opinion, beliefs, and ideas to anybody that is willing to listen to them. There are massive advantages to ... • 7. China s Become A Global Superpower And Its Transformation... I once regretted that I majored in Chinese Language and Literature. Even after completing my Master s degree in China I could not see the practical use of my studies. However, now I think it has become my strength to comprehend Chinese Language and culture as a student who seeks to research on the International Studies related to Chinaas a Ph.D. candidate. During my study in China, I witnessed China s emergence as a global superpower and its transformation from a development aidrecipient to a donor country. This particularly intrigued me more than its language and culture. The transformation was similar to my home country, Korea, but this time I was able to witness it. China s growing foreign aidstarted to have a significant impact on the landscape of the global development community and became a formidable alternative to existing Official Development Assistant (ODA). A non OECD country, has become the center of controversies with its foreign aid policies. I was intrigued with this phenomenon and encountered a question: How do developed countries (traditional donors) and developing countries (development aid recipients) work with China to enhance positive developments and minimize frictions? In the pursuit of solution to my question, I enrolled the second Master s degree in Public Policy at KDI School of Public Policy and Management where I gained a great deal of academic knowledge about public policy, global governance and political economy. • 8. The Criminal Justice System Is Fair And True Most people in America believe that our criminal justice system is fair and true. The idea that any free citizen could be unjustly sentenced to prison or executed by the state is thought of as false. Unfortunately now a days the judicial process has been infiltrated with false confessions, eyewitness misidentification, improper forensic science, perjury, ineffective defense counsels, messy police investigations and prosecutorial misconduct. Our criminal justicesystem is based on the concept that every wrong has a cause and effect, thus forcing us to punish any and all offenders, but with all the faults in our system how do we know who s guilty of committing the crime? Most of the time this is when wrongful convictions occurs. A simple definition of wrongful conviction is when innocent defendants are found guilty in criminal trials. Frequently these innocent defendants are forced to go as far as to plead guilty to avoid death penalties or long prisonsentences. The Number of wrongly convicted persons cannot be known with certainty, because no federal or state agency keeps track of exonerations, let alone wrongful convictions. Many news stories, reports and books fairly describe wrongful convictions in detail, although not all of these wrongful convictions resulted in formal exonerations. In some of these cases, prosecutors insisted that the original verdict was accurate despite strong new evidence of factual innocence, further clouding an understanding of wrongful ... • 9. George Washington Code Of Honor Essay George Washington towered over men with decorum. Men followed him, not out of fear but out of respect and admiration. Washington was not a loquacious orator, but his silence spoke volumes. When he spoke, briefly but authoritatively, others listened. They knew he meant what he said because of his code of honor both on and off the battlefield. It was this code of honor that made him a successful general and an even more successful President of the United States. On February 22, 1732 (February 11, 1732 in the British defective calendar ), George Washington inconspicuously entered the world in Westmoreland County, Virginia (Alden 2). Not part of the British elite, his ancestors settled in the colonies from Britain and prospered with farming and tobacco plantations. George Washington was just eleven years old when his father died. At first I will provide a short biographical note on Malthus and I will also mention his main achievements. Then, a summary of Malthus main ideas of the first two chapters of mentioned work follows. Afterward, the essay concludes with a personal note. 2.A short biography Thomas Robert Malthus was born in 1766 (course textbook, n. d.) in Surrey, England, as the sixth son of a wealthy intellectual family and he died in 1834 (Weikard, n. d.). In this aspect, human beings are not any different from plants or animals, but in contrast to them they do not only act out of instinct. Additionally, they use their reasoning to determine whether they will be able to care sufficiently for their children (Malthus, p. 2). Malthus states that there are certain checks on population and points out that there is no society without any check applied. An unchecked population increases in a geometrical ratio, what means that it doubles itself every twenty five years. Instead, the available food does not increase geometrically, but gradually diminishes, because of the limited amount of fertile land. In contrast to the population, the agricultural production, under favourable circumstances, is able to only increase in an arithmetical ratio (Malthus, p. 6). A gap between population growth and the amount of food available rises. As a result, to further increase the food supply, it is necessary to improve the quality of the soil (Malthus, p. 4). Malthus points out that there is still land which is not cultivated, even in Europe, and that especially in this region it is possible to enhance the soil quality due to the progress of the industrialization, but it will be gradually diminishing (Malthus, p. ... • 12. High Stakes Testing In Schools Essay Should our public schools continue to allow high stakes assessments, for example the FCAT, to play a large factor in determining if a student has met mastery of grade level standards? Numerous students do not test well due to nerves or other disabilities; some students even become ill which equates to inaccurate testresults. Additionally, testing is such an enormous process that students are losing out on valuable classroom instruction. Finally, with students pending graduation or promotion to the next grade these high stakes tests are forcing teachers to teach to the test to ensure greater success. High stakes testing is a high pressure situation for any student at all grade levels. There are many seniors ready to graduate but have not passed their final state assessment to meet that requirement or a younger elementary student pending promotion to the next grade based on the results of the state assessment. Homer goes on to describe how as Apollo was considering how to acquire these followers, he took notice of a passing ship on the sea full of Cretan sailors. Intercepting them on their journey, Apollo transformed into a dolphin and lept upon their boat, and caused the ship to shake with his mighty power. The sailors, unrecognizing of the god, became fearful and followed the powerful wind that lead them to Crisa. Once upon the shore, Apollo revealed his true and mighty form to the sailors installing an awesome fear in each of them (278) and they rejoiced in serving him. With the aid of Apollo, the sailors all became initiated so they may devote themselves to the practices and worship of Apollo. This story highlights how Apollo came to be known as Apollo Delphinios, the root of the word meaning dolphin, and likewise, how the location received the name Delphi. Along with the tales asserting Apollo s birth and origin, the hymn also discusses Hera and the monster Typhaon that she creates. Enraged with her husband Zeus, since he has on his own born the wise goddess Athena from his forehead, Hera hopes to give birth a monster that will become famous among mortals, but will not go against the sacred marriage vow that she and Zeus share. • 14. Themes In The 5th Wave By Rick Yancey The 5th Wave, a young adult, science fiction novel by Rick Yancey, can be used to teach many themes to its readers. Some of these themes include, people are defined by the choices they make, family is worth dying for, and survival depends on being dedicated to others, not yourself. The characters can teach us a lot by their experiences and Rick Yanceymost likely did this on purpose. There are many examples in the text to support these recurring themes. To start with, we will examine the theme, people are defined by the choices they make. One of the greatest examples for supporting this theme in The 5th Wave, is the character, Evan Walker. He is half human and half alien. However, he abandons the aliens and chooses to be human. In this case, being human just means siding with them, especially since there are few left. Evan made choices to be human many times. In the first place, he didn t kill Cassie on the highway. He describes it like he couldn t. Therefore, he showed feelings of guilt, love, pity, and other human emotions. This was his initial act of starting to side with mankind. He even saves her when she s dying in the snow bank, taking her in and nursing her back to health. Later on in the book, he gives up his house to burn it as a distraction. Once they continue on their journey, he protects her from soldiers that the aliens are training. Which means, he killed his own in order to keep Cassie safe. • 15. Disney Fair Use The first thing that should be done before anything else in this case, is the proper definition of fair use. Merriam Webster s defines fair use as the following: a legal doctrine that portions of copyrighted materials may be used without permission of the copyright owner provided the use is fair and reasonable, does not substantially impair the value of the materials, and does not curtail the profits reasonably expected by the owner. The U.S. Copyrightoffice states that these are the activities that can be claimed as fair use: criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. So to further analyze fair use, I shall share some observations. Fair use can be claimed if it does not substantially impair the worth of the movies used in the video, or lose any money for disney. The strategy can also be used if it is used in the context of criticizing, reporting, or providing commentary on something. Teaching, research, and scholarship are also forms protected by copyright. So first we will look at if Disney s profits are harmed, let s take a look at what disney is worth: Disney currently has about 1.61 billion shares outstanding. The Oklahoma City Thunder Went Into Oracle Arena On Monday night, the upstart Oklahoma City Thunder went into Oracle Arena and knocked off the Golden State Warriors 108 102 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The Thunder were able to win on Monday night, thanks to a 19 point third quarter performance from point guard Russell Westbrook. Westbrook s play in the third quarter was the key to Oklahoma City s comeback as they were down 13 points at the half. The first half was not good for the Thunder or Westbrook as he struggled with his jump shot. As a team, the Thunder shot 45.5 percent from the field but shot 50.0 percent from three point range, which kept them in striking distance. But what killed Oklahoma City in the first two quarters was turnovers as they had 10. Those 1o turnovers, lead to 15 points for the Warriors. As I mentioned earlier, Westbrook struggled on offense as he was getting outplayed by his counterpart, two time MVP Stephen Curry. In the first half, Curry had 14 points on 5 of 11 shooting from the field, to go along with six rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Westbrook was getting beat at his own game, which is stuffing the stat sheet and making an impact in every facet of the game. In the first half, Westbrook only scored three points, as he shot a horrendous 1 of 8 from the field. The theory of self determination developed by American Psychologists supported that satisfaction of psychological needs will make an individual to be determined in life and have the strength to face situations positively. First, psychological need satisfaction and frustration can lead to either dark and bright side of a person s character. Don Cupitt clearly asserts that theistic religionis outdated and no longer agrees with modern scientific explanations of the natural world. I agree with William James and Martin Buber, although the idea of I Thou could be misunderstood and instead taken in a theistic light. In doing so, the concept of It Thou will appear contradictory; logically, if God is not a theistic being, one cannot possess a personal relationship with Him. However, by seeing the universe as a Thou versus an It, the compassion becomes apparent in one s personal bonds. Fingerprints supply great evidence to help identify who was there, and possibly how many people were there. However, the problem becomes that there are too many prints found at one scene. It is difficult to try and determine when they were made based on physical appearance and common techniques. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a laboratory setting, they set up multiple stations where they had placed two fingerprints from the same people, at different times. The results of the experiment showed that after 14 days of being left alone, the prints left behind on nonconductive surfaces showed significant electric decay. They were then able to determine which print was placed earlier, and which later (Watson, Prance, Beardsmore Rust, Prance, 2011). The scanner works on the residue left behind in the latent prints, which is mainly the different forms of sweat. Sweat by itself is a combination of organic molecules, lipids, amino acids, and inorganic free ions (Yamashita French, n.d.). These free ions act as an electrolyte solution, and allow electrical currents to be passed through, and returned to the original source to complete the current. By measuring where the current is completed, the scanner can construct a digital image of what the print would look like. The scanner s released charge must be small enough to have a reaction from the latent residue, but it cannot be too large as to have a reaction from the surface in question. Although the scanner works in a laboratory setting, there are still many problems that need to be addressed before it can be applied to the field. The first is that the testing surface needs to be nonconductive. The main reason for a nonconductive surface is that the charge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A generalized pollination system that has been widespread as well as the specialization of the pollination systems has been questioned (Waser, 1996). The specificity of the pollination relationships is thought to have roots in the preference of individuals. Specific scents, colours, shapes and morphology and combinations of those attract different groups of pollinators. The obvious colour preference or simply the morphology of the flower that determines the size of a species that can get to the pollen and nectar affect the pollinator s response. Due to certain restrictions, only specific species can act as a vector and that led to specialization of a relationship. It was more of a key and lock mechanism rather than a coincidental coevolution. Since the species that could not get to the specific flower, carried on until it found a suitable one. This therefore does not necessarily mean that either the flower or the vector altered their morphology just to increase the fitness. All of the above arguments are also thought to be the root of the mentioned plant syndrome that specifies the pollinator response and the species that acts as a vector. There have been several links suggested and studied into depth. One of them was linking pollinator behaviour to plant mating patterns. That suggests a high specialization of a relationship since either of them had to adjust their natural behaviour to the organism they interact with. According to the National Research Council ... If the agreement is not approved or fails to meet the national regulators standards it is possible that European privacy firms and consumer companies may call for tighter restrictions surrounding the movement of data. Tighter restrictions would result in tech companies like Amazon, Google and Facebook, who rely on people s data in order to tailor advertisements towards their users/ consumers. • 39. A Clockwork Orange Essay Anthony Burgess novel, A Clockwork Orange, depicts a somber and disconsolate future that is filled with violence, rape, and destruction. Burgess challenges the loyalty of the reader towards the narrator and main character, Alex, throughout the course of the novel. In the beginning, the reader does not have an emotional connection to Alex; however, as the novel progresses and Alex begins his course of ruthless, violent acts, the reader builds up a sense of loathing toward Alex. Despite this, by the end of the novel, the reader almost begins to develop a sense of solicitude for Alex. Throughout Alex s narration, Burgess manages to transform the reader s loyalty towards what had previously seemed like an evil character. A Clockwork Orange,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Burgess insists that he based nadsat, the invented slang of the teenage hooligans in A Clockwork Orange, on Russian for aesthetic reasons, but it is believed that this experience influenced his portrayal of Alex and his gang. The dystopian world of the novel draws attention to the elements of the American and English societies that Burgess detested. Burgess had a tendency toward anarchy and felt the socialistic British welfare state was too willing to sacrifice individual liberty in favor of social stability (A Clockwork Orange). He despised American popular culture due to its fostering of homogeneity, passivity, and apathy. He regarded American law enforcement as being corrupt and violent. Each of these targets are pointed out in A Clockwork Orange. The film recreation of the novel features Alex and his droogs spending their nights getting high before embarking on various acts of violence. One of these acts of violence includes tyrannizing a writer, Mr. Alexander, and gang raping his wife, who later dies as a result. Alex is later jailed for bludgeoning the Cat Lady to death. • 40. Mexico Economy And Gdp Of Mexico MEXICO ECONOMY AND GDP Mexico is the 15th largest nominal GDP in the world and the 11th largest by Purchasing Power Parity which is estimated at $2.2602 trillion in 2015 and a $1.3673 trillion in nominal exchange rate. Its annual average growth from 1995 2000 was 5.1% but dropped to 3.02 % over the next 10 years. In the wake of the global financial crisis, Mexico GDP further took a nose drive by a 6.2% decrease; the economy is gradually normalizing as the GDP expanded to at 2.1% in 2014 a two year consecutive growth. It is expected to modestly rebound in 2015 to 2.7% before averaging a robust 3.5% between the fiscal year 2016 2019 this growth when compared with other regional peers is slow, a reflection of the country weak trade ties with Asia. (EIU, 2015) But unlike most countries, it was able to maintain a moderate public debt of 45% of its GDP and a low but permanent current account deficit of 0.8% which can mainly be attributed to the country s commercial surplus with the United States and a deficit with Asia, China and the rest of the world. It has been argued that successful implementation of structural reform could potentially eliminate some competitive bottleneck thus boosting the economy to 4 5% by 2019 (export.gov) but this is an unlikely achievement in light of the persisting institutional weakness towards implementing government reform program. The country trade balance would suffer from lower oil export as a result of decline in population and weaker oil price ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Effects Of Westernization In Japan In the last fifty years, Japan has been undergoing a series of considerable changes such as the development in technology, the improvement of its economy and the changes of its culture through westernization. Westernization is a phenomenon which consists of countries transformed by ideals, concepts and practices from western countries. Japan is a country which is known for its deep changes caused by this phenomenon, especially in the food industry. In only the last fifty years, the well known traditional Japanese diet has been transformed completely. The aim of this essay is to address the what makes a balanced and unbalanced diet and what are their effects on our lives. This essay will also discuss the changes in the Japanese diet caused by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On one hand, the changes of diet that westernization have brought to Japan are relatively positive. From a social point of view, the westernization of the Japanese diet was able to improve many aspects of the Japanese population, the most prominent being the lengthening of the average lifespan and the reduction of the deaths caused by stroke in Japan. Economically, the westernization in Japan has been able to allow Japanese people to have access to food with high nutrient value, such as meat. However, on the other hand, the Japanese westernization has also brought several negative demerits in Japan. It has undoubtedly had an enormous negative impact health wise. It has brought forth a series of physical and mental illnesses, some very serious such as diabetes. It also brought forth to two very pressing economical issues; low self sufficiency, which consists of Japan not being able to self sustain and be independent when having to provide food, and the decline of traditional industries. After looking into and researching about both the merits and demerits of the westernization in Japan, in my opinion, the demerits of the westernization occurring in Japan slightly outweigh the merits. I believe this because while the westernization in Japan does have merits, I think the demerits are much more serious and could grow out of hand if something is not done to contain said problems. However, I do not necessarily believe that westernization is also a completely negative phenomenon that has occurred in Japan. From my point of view, I believe, to prevent the worsening of the situations in Japan, there should be more awareness of the current situation to then be able to have more control of the issues, in that way, Japan could avoid the further worsening of the current ... • 43. Community For My Old Volunteer Group Community for me, is feeling connected, accepted, and at home. It is where everyone is working together for a mutual cause, and having fun doing it. It is not so much a place to me, as it is a feeling. I can go to any town, city, or community but it does not necessarily take a place in my heart as much as the sense of community I have experienced before. What other place to find community than my old volunteer group, ironically called FOCUS on Community. FOCUS is an organization whose mission is to reach out to the people of our community, like teens and families, to prevent substance abuse, smoking, alcoholism, and even to help families that are already dealing with these issues. My favorite program was the F.A.S.T. program Families And Schools Together because I worked one on one with people and really saw that we were making a difference in these people s lives. At the time I first volunteered for F.A.S.T. I did not realize exactly what I was doing, I merely signed up because I wanted to help out in some way. However, I soon realized that we truly were bringing these families closer. We gave them a safe environment with dinner and activities, and a chance every week to have one on one time with the child of their choice. This helped them solve arguments and build stronger and closer relationships with children who are having a rough time. Another place where I felt an immense sense of community was Italian Fest. I have volunteered at this festival for the past ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Discuss the extent to which recent reforms to murder in the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 are a change for the better but have not necessarily satisfied those who campaigned for change. [50] Loss of control is a partial defence to a charge of murder. If it is successful, D will be found guilty of manslaughter. This allows the judge discretion in sentencing. Loss of control replaced the former defence of provocation. This law is set out in s54 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009. The old defence of provocation was abolished by s56 CJA 2009. Under the new law, if D wants the defence to be successful, they need to have lost self control, there must be a qualifying trigger and a person of the same sex and age should react in the same way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second situation arises where D s long term alcohol/drug abuse has led to a recognised medical condition (such as alcohol or drug dependence syndrome) which causes an abnormality of mental functioning. (R v Wood). Giving the judgement of the court, Sir Igor Judge explained that the jury must first consider whether the defendant s syndrome was of such an extent and nature that it constituted an abnormality of mind induced by illness or disease. If they decided it was, they must then consider whether the defendant s mental responsibility at the time was substantially impaired by the syndrome. The Law Commission had proposed removing the loss of control criteria completely. This was because it was recognised that women in abusive relationships may kill from a combination of anger fear, frustration and a sense of desperation. The government decided not to follow this proposal. D must prove loss of self control. The only concession is that loss of control need not be sudden. It is probable that some abused women will not be able to use the defence. Sexual infidelity is no longer allowed as a qualifying trigger for the defence. Yet the defence of provocation was largely created for such situations and also widely biased towards men. If someone finds their partner cheating, they are very likely to lose self control, but if this leads to D killing V, they will no longer have a partial defence to a charge of murder. Surely that contradicts the aim ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many similarities between I m Your Teacher, Not Your Internet Service Provider and The Dog Ate My Flash Drive, and Other Tales of Woe ; both essays are written in first person and incorporate opinions on the excuses that students have given in the past. In the first story written by Ellen Laird, an author that has thirty years of experience being an educator and essayist explains the difficulties of how online classes differ from face to face classes. In the other story written by Carolyn Foster Segal, the author talks about the many excuses her students have given her over the course of her teaching career.
