Enlargement Of The European Union
Introduction The European Union (EU), which began through the integration of six member states
in 1951, welcomed its latest member, Croatia, in 2013, effectively bringing its total to twenty eight
members (Verdun, July 23, 2015). The first EU enlargement occurred in 1973, when the UK,
Ireland, and Denmark joined the union. Since then, four major enlargements have taken place,
despite the long existent controversies regarding the possible value or downfalls of the expansion
of the union. With over twenty more countries within the continent as possible candidates,
especially as many express interest of joining, it is highly possible that efforts for further
enlargement may be made in the future. The question, however, is whether EU... Show more content

Of high concern, is whether the union can accommodate more diversity. Respecting and protecting
minorities for the EU has been an ongoing challenge. Anti immigration is a common phenomenon,
and although efforts have been made to increase acceptance, it is a challenge that may be further
induced as new member states join. The candidacy of Turkey, for example, has resulted to increased
anti Muslim attitudes. It is therefore questionable whether EU should pursue further enlargement in
the near future, or whether it should first address the internal challenges it is currently facing prior
to greater expansion. Background Economic Implications for Pre Existing and New Member States
Many studies exploring the implications of further EU enlargement focus on the possible economic
consequences. From liberal perspective further enlargement would mutually benefit all the member
countries economically (Cohn, 2012). Often, it is argued that new members joining the union are
positively affected, whereas pre existing countries suffer financial losses (Neueder, 2003). However,
studies suggest that although new members experience the most economic benefits by gaining
membership, pre existing members are positively impacted as well. Epstein argues that EU
membership has greatly benefited Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries in economic

Arguments Against Therapeutic Cloning
For many years there has been a large controversy over the use of cloning for therapeutic and
reproductive purposes. The argument against therapeutic cloning is that creating an exact replica
of one s self all for the use of harvesting its parts is considered killing another human being.
However, some people are for this use so that they can survive as long as they can, and use the
clones materials as a way to cure disease or heal injuries. On the other hand, reductive cloningalso
has two sides, for and against. People who believe that reproductive cloning is okay, want to
create another version of themselves just to either have themselves as a baby or replace a loved
one. But, people who are against reproductive cloning believe that it is a selfish or unreasonable
act to have one birth a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some people fawn over the idea of cloning themselves and to have a replica of themselves be
birthed by a surrogate mother. However, I believe that parents who are selfish would use the
advantages of having a baby clone of themselves will overuse the power, and distinguish the
rights of the baby. Since parents have legal right over medical decisions for the child, there is
nothing from preventing them from harvesting their own child for their own good. I may be
completely against reproductive cloning, however, some people and/or parents feel as if having a
clone of a lost one will make up for their absence. Recreating someone doesn t mean that it is the
same as the original because, with different external impacts, a clone can easily have different
personalities, feelings, and memories. Therefore technically trying to bring back someone back,
will be emotionally unsuccessful. With the technology that our world has today, reproductive
cloning is absolutely possible and has been done before, but I believe that it will damage the human

Skype In End Of Life Care
The authors did so many things right when writing this article. It was a good length, considering
the topic it covered was so specific. They provided an adequate amount of background statistics
and information on social media and how it is used today, to get a better understanding of the
role of technology overall in our lives today. I also liked that they admitted the limitations of
their article; for example the reader only gets the case studies from one perspective when the
others are also important to know. They also did a great job of choosing cases that show the reader
how Skype can and did make a huge difference for these families and their dying loved ones. There
were also a few downsides in the article. I didn t feel the authors... Show more content on

In the beginning I wish the article went into more detail about the evolution of the music
therapy profession and how their use of music can create greater results in their patients than
other care providers using music. It also could have been better organized to go from discussing
music interventions in the broad clinical setting to focusing in on the end of life care setting
instead of jumping back and forth between them. I feel that the article was comprised largely of
information for the general clinical setting instead of the palliative and hospice setting, which
was supposed to be the article topic since the article s title is Music as a Therapeutic Resource in
End of Life Care . Overall, I enjoyed reading this article for a multitude of reasons. Their choice
of vocabulary made it easily understandable, the topic was very interesting to me, and the fact that
I can use the information I learned in my future career as a nurse is a great benefit. After reading
this article I have a greater respect and understanding of music therapy and the effects it can have
on patients and their families. This is why I would recommend others to read this article, especially
individuals working in healthcare settings alongside music therapy

What Was The Importance Of Segmentation In Teaching A Hustle
The hustle should be taught through segmentation. Segmentation would be an effective form of
teaching and an effective learning experience because it involves practicing the complex skill of
performing the hustle in a more simplified form through part practice. Segmentation is a type of
part practice and it involves learningone part of a skilluntil it is learned and then adding the next
part, and so on, followed by practicing the parts together until they are learned. This would be
beneficial when teaching the hustle becauses the hustle requires many steps and each step or
sequence can not be performed until the part before it is learned. Without mastering the first set of

Next, the aspect of step turn step clap going to the right, would be learned. After that, it would
be added to all of the previous steps and the dancers would perform all the steps they learned in
order, with the music. The same thing would occur when going to do the step turn step clap on
the left side and it would be added to all of the previous steps. Next, the performers would learn
how to point up toward the ceiling and then down to the ground. This part of the dance would be
practiced and then combined with all previous parts until it is learned. After pointing, they would
learn how to roll their arms and pop their chest, or what is known as doing the chicken . This part
of the dance would be practiced until it s learned, then practiced all together with all of the
movement they know this far. Lastly, the dance would be completed when the participants learn
how to turn around themselves by moving their right leg front, back and to the side. Segmentation
would be most effective because learning a dance has many parts and it is important to learn each
part and then practice them all together so that the dance can be completed fully without

An Age Of Political Correctness Is All The Rage And...
In an age where political correctness is all the rage and conservative values are synonyms with
discrimination it is not surprising that the principles by which our great nation was built on are the
first to be tossed aside. We see an increasing number of leftВwing policies put into play with almost
unanimous support from the media. These policies are masked with intent to bring our country
together but generally end up creating even larger division. This is made ever present in the
repeal of the military s Don t Ask Don t Tell act. The repel of Don t Ask Don t Tell has more Don
t Ask Don t Tell was a law passed by President Bill Clinton in 1993. This widely supported law
required gay military personal to refrain from mentioning, discussing, or implying their sexual
preferences or orientation in any public forum or platform. The law also restricted officers in
command positions from questioning any serviceman or servicewoman of having homosexual
beliefs or tenancies. Retired veteran and senator John McCain brings up many valid points when
he states his belief in the necessity of law by saying, This successful policy has been in effect for
over 15 years, and it is well understood and predominantly supported by our military at all levels.

Significance And Impact Of The Emancipation Proclamation

Significance and Impact of the Emancipation Proclamation
Abraham Lincoln once said, A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this
government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to
be dissolved I do not expect the house to fall but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will
become all one thing or all the other. (Lincoln s House Divided Speech in Springfield, Illinois,
June 16, 1858). The critical issue of slavery throughout the 19th century in America, was a heavily
debated topic. Due to this disagreement of the bondage of slaves, America was split into two
distinct entities, the Union and the Confederacy. Both of these bodies of states struggled over the
idea of slavery, and whether or not it should be enforced, but both for different reasons. In the
North, or the Union States, slavery was looked down upon being morally wrong, while on the other
hand, the Southerners, or the Confederate States, believed the exact opposite. In the year of 1863,
the issue of slavery would start to diminish due to a very important proclamation issued by
President Abraham Lincoln. This prominent decree, the Emancipation Proclamation, would settle
the heated dispute between the Union and the Confederacy for all years to come. Although not one
slave was initially freed by the Emancipation Proclamation in the Southern states, the deeper
symbolic meaning of the manifesto

As the communication coordinator for this national drug manufacturer, we will need to address the
issue at hand and figure out the best way to handle the negative publicity one of our medications
has caused. Unfortunately, the local news is already making things more difficult for us by
alleging that a well known public figure is among those suffering adverse effects from this

Now in looking at electronic or social media we have many choices. Facebook or our company
website would be two options. However any electronic or social media would have advantages
and disadvantages. An advantage would be that we could reach many people very quickly. Not
only do many people use social media these days, but we could use social media to incorporate
some of the traditional media styles. For example, we could use Facebook to get a video out
stating our side of this issue. On the downside, many feel as though social media is not as
intimate. We need to remember that the receiver of the electronic communications is not able to
observe other important elements of the message that often come up with face to face
interactions: tone of voice, facial expressions, and body posture, for example (Cheesebro, O
Connor, amp; Rios, 2010). Nonetheless, there are studies that are showing a substantial growth in
use of electronic and social media for healthcare purposes. Graphic from Study Predicts Growing
Use Of Social Media In Healthcare (2011).
Another concern in this situation is remembering that we need to stay within the HIPAA guidelines
when using media to let information out. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act

The Last Emancipation Of Death Camps
It s been six decade since the last emancipation of death camps which were located in different
parts of Europe. Holocaust is one of the most tragic events in the history that has always been the
interesting subject for historians. According to Jewish Virtual Library, it was about six million
Jews were massacred for no decent reason. In William Lace s book, The Death Camps, he stated
that Jewsare not the only one killed in the holocaustbut also about five million of Gypsies and
other people were murdered, that time there was no way that anyone could stop the Nazis from
killing blameless people. People were agonized from their homes and taken to ghettos. People from

Adolf Hitler was the head behind the wide massacres. He killed people by groups, just because
they are Jews in nature. Germans would use guns to kill the Jews but as time goes by the
German authorities uses gas chambers to kill people. At first when the Jews arrived they were
lied to. The Germans will persuade the Jews that it was only a labor camp. The Jews would then
fall into line and the Nazi authorities would decide who would live and die. Only the strongest
ones would live and the weak ones were sent to death. They were sent to take bath which was
actually the bath of death. Gas would come out and showers the prisoners and everyone will be
suffocated and in there died. After the suffocation they were moved into large ovens and burn
and dispose their bodies. All camps were full of deception and no German can be trusted. Many
Jews was starved to death because of hunger and that s not enough to keep them alive. It s
apparently a helpful source to know the stories and experiences behind those bars. Today, lots of
movies, poems, stories and novels deal with the holocaust in multiple ways, which cover most of
the literary genre. This literature includes some interviews, stories of the survivors and diaries all
over the world to know the kin information what happened in the concertation camps during the

Analyzing Themes in William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night Essay
William Shakespeare, an English writer in the seventeenth century. He is considered to be the most
influential writer in English literature. He wrote various genres, but the common types he wrote
were: Tragedies, Comedies, and Histories. Among the many plays he wrote he wrote one his most
famous play, Twelfth Night, which he wrote during the middle of his career. Twelfth Night is
considered to be one of Shakespeare s greatest comedies that he has written. In addition to it is also
the only play that he wrote that has an alternate title which is called, Twelfth Night, or What You
Will . By analyzing the themes presented in the play: Actions of love, Gender, and madness, helps

Each time he go tries to woo her it always brings him more pain. So to him it seems that love is
an awful savage that keeps attacking him. On the other hand Viola, who is disguised as a man
and who falls in love with Orsino, states that, My state is desperate for my master s love (Act II.
Scene II. Line 37) in which she means that she is hopelessly in love and she will do anything to
gain it. This results into violence in a later scene with her and Orsino because he thinks that
Cesario (Viola) is Olivia s lover. Viola does bring pain to Olivia due to her deception because
Olivia fell quickly in love with Cesario when he comes to woo her for Orsino. As stated, the play
does have a happy ending. Those who were set out pursuing for love got it for the most part.
Orsino and Viola ended up together, Olivia and Sebastian (Viola s twin brother) ended up
together (partly because she mistakes him for Cesario), and Maria and Sir Toby ended up
together. The same could not be said for Malvolio who was in love with Olivia. He was tricked
into thinking that Olivia returned the same affections, but in it was all a trick. Malvolio had the
mindset that Olivia loved him, but Olivia just thought he was going mad so she sent him off to
this dark cell where he remained until the end of the play. Malvolio s love for Olivia hurt him
more than it did more good. He had to suffer because of his actions which portrayed him as a fool.

Illustrating Freedom and Responsibility as an Opposing...
In Kate Chopin s The Awakening, the author frames the notions of freedom and responsibility by
contrasting them within an opposing dichotomy portrayed through the main character, Edna
Pontellier, and through her subconscious denial of Creole responsibility while attaining freedom
for her body, mind, and soul. Within this dichotomy the notions change inversely: the more
freedom that is exercised by Edna because of unknown, and undisclosed, subconscious analysis
deep in her mind, her sense of Creole responsibilities ebb proportionately. As these opposing forces
ebb and flow, Chopin shows freedom in its basic and natural light as being instinctive and as the

But oddly, Chopin does not present this contrast of rebellion as a juxtaposition of the concepts of
responsibility versus irresponsibility; instead, she lets defiance take its place, as seen here when
Leonce perceives Edna s violation of a social norm: This is more than folly, he blurted out. I can t
permit you to stay out here all night. You must come in the house instantly. [Leonce](Kindle

motion she settled herself more securely in the hammock. She perceived that her will had blazed
up, stubborn and resistant. She could not at that moment have done other than denied and resisted.
She wondered if her husband had ever spoken to her like that before, and if she had submitted to
his command. Of course she had; she remembered that she had. But she could not realize why or
how she could have yielded, feeling as she did then (Kindle location 588).
Immediately, she says, Leonce, go to bed, ... I mean to stay out here. I don t wish to go in, and I
don t intend to. Don t speak to me like that again; I shall not answer you [Edna] (Kindle location

Music And Pop Culture
A society is a community of people who share common interaction, culture and territory. These
societies consist of more than two people according to their social relations and cultural identity.
With a population of 10.28 million, the 1960s was a decade of political and social upheaval in
Australia. New aspects of society were being considered in shaping Australian politics through
several protests in defying authority. These included women s liberation, racial equality in
support of the Indigenous and Australia s participation in the Vietnam war. This then led to the
inspiration of creating protest music internationally. The major cultural and societal
development in Australia was seen through several elements of pop culture, predominantly rock
n roll music which was heavily influenced by American and British artists and was especially
successful. The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Johnny O Keefe are three of the most iconic figures
that ensured the rock n roll culture and lifestyle could spread rapidly within Australia and all
over the world. When the rock n roll music sensation emerged, it was at its peak in Australia
during the 1950s and 1960s. It was a combination of several genres inclusive of country and
western music, with a rhythm and blues beat and vocals derived from African American gospel
music. Rock n roll had the biggest impact on the younger generation as a sound more risky and
authentic was found to be more appealing, whereas for the older generation,

Thomas Hardy s Under The Waterfall
Thomas Hardy s Under the Waterfall is a poem that can be interpreted in many different ways.
One cannot deny the power and influence nature has over the two lovers. The reader can
understand that a voice is evoked by a memory of having a picnic in August near a waterfall with
their romantic partner every time he or she places their hands into a pool of water or basin of
water . One says he or she because the poem does not specifically tell the reader if it is the woman
or man speaking. Hardy discusses the purity, serenity and permanence of the waterfall. Hardy
establishes the first lines: Whenever I plunge my arm, like this, In a basin of water, I never miss
The sweet, sharp sense of a fugitive day Fetched back from its thickening shroud of gray. (1 4)
Already, one can gather a woman in hindsight of a moment is telling the poem in time. From
this, it brings to light straight away that she is talking about something from the past that cannot
be regained or repeated. In essence, the fugitive day has escaped. Hardy also uses an oxymoron
here with sweet sharp to describe the day making clear that it was a nice delicate memory but is
also a spiteful memory (3). The word fugitive means criminal, which suggests that this memory of
lovers was possibly against the law or was an affair where the couple was rebellious (3). This
supports the reason why one of the couple remembers the memory vividly: from remembering

Essay On Signs Of A Hidden Mice Infestation
Signs Your Home Is Infested With Mice And How An Inspection Helps Get Rid Of Them You
can have an infestation of mice in your home and never see one of the creatures darting around,
but they will leave clues. If you do see the mice, especially during the daytime, that could
indicate you have a particularly bad infestation. Whether you ve seen mice or not, you should
take steps to eliminate them since they are unsanitary pests. Start with an inspection by a rodent
professional. Here s when to suspect you have a mouse problem and why having a professional
inspection is important. Signs Of A Hidden Mice Infestation Mice are usually most active at night
when activity in your home has settled down. When your home is otherwise quiet, you may hear
their claws scraping inside the walls as they scurry around. They might make chirping or
squeaking noises. You can even hear them gnawing on wood or other objects. Noises may come
from the attic, behind walls, inside the cupboards, or behind the refrigerator. If the mice are
particularly active, you may hear them knock things off shelves and tables as they hunt for food.

clear and concise, regarding its components and requirements. Hence, it includes an offer,

The dialogue between the parties suggests its conditional nature; the fulfilment of said conditions
would lead to a binding contract. The nature of a conditional offer is also evident in the Financings
Ltd v Stimpson 1962 case, where the Defendant in the case, refused to pay charges against the
appellant. Consequently, the plaintiff sued him for breach of purchase agreement. It was held that
the Defendants offer was subject to the agreement, that the condition of the car should continue in
its undamaged state and that the failure of the condition would deem the contract non binding.
Hence, this case relates with Jenny s circumstances, in which there is a breach of conditional

The Role Of Offred In The Handmaid s Tale
Margaret Atwood s novel, The Handmaid s Tale, is a dystopian story of a woman s worth and
role in society. The novel is in the perspective of Offred, a handmaid from the dystopian United
States: the Republic of Gilead. Women have always been told and perceived to be submissive to
men, since the beginning of time. This story, is no exception to this belief, as Handmaids are
women stripped of their rights as a human. Atwood s story The Handmaid s Tale suggests that the
desire for freedom is what all human beings seek for and captures this idea through the
protagonist, Offred. This desire cannot be suppressed by society or conditionings of the mind
because it is the sole reason of what makes a person, a human being. The main character of the
novel, Offred,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before Offred was forced into the life of becoming a handmaid, she had a desire to be with a
man named Luke. However, he was already married at the time, and they had to sneak around.
Every time they were to meet in private, she would have many feelings before the meeting as
she states, I was nervous. How was I to know he loved me?...The knock would come at the door;
I d open, with relief, desire (Atwood 56). Even though the affair she had was considered wrong
in society, it did not stop Offred from going with what she desired. Her desire for Luke and his
love outweighed her concerns of what she was afraid of and what society deemed was right.
Offred s character experiences what humans feel. Atwood created Offred to display that people
desire freedom. Another example of Offred s desire of freedom to love, is evident when she
explains her thoughts to the reader. In the Republic of Gilead, the only women who are married are
the Commander s wives. This means that the other women are handmaids and therefore long for
love because they

Kwame Anthony Appiah Persepolis Rhetorical Analysis
According to Kwame Anthony Appiah s text, Moral Disagreement and Majane Satrapi s cartoon,
From Persepolis, morals and values are something that everyone grows up with and cannot always
be easily understood. One may be referred to as ethnocentric if he or she devalues or disrespects
other morals and values. This is the belief that one cultureis better or superior to others. One major
problem that rises with this argument is that all cultures have done both positive and negative
things in their histories, which may influence how others evaluate them. Kimmel and Satrapi show
that it is essential to be open minded about one another s morals and values. The article Moral

Many women agree that wearing a veil is as insult towards their rights. We didn t really like to
wear the veil, especially because we didn t understand why we had to, says one of the girls at
school (Satrapi 681). They complained that it was too hot and some go ahead and take them off
and play with them. Some used their veil to jump rope or throw them away. Everywhere in the
streets there were demonstrations for and against the veil (Satrapi 683). Satrapi is unsure about
how she feels when wearing the veil. She states how she was born with religion and believes that

The most common causes of the injuries are blows from the hockey sticks and collisions with
other players. Head and facial injuries include concussions, contusions and lacerations to the face,
eye and dental damage. Concussions result from being hit so hard that the player losses
consciousness. Players experiencing symptoms of a concussion should not be allowed to play but
be taken to a medical examiner. The other injury that players suffer is shoulder injuries. The
shoulder in most cases separates from the joint or the collarbone breaks. These result from
collision with other players or the ice. Elbow injuries also arise in Ice hockey due to constant
contact resulting in a thick and scarred bursal tissue. Wrist injuries are another category of
injuries suffered by hockey players as a result of playing with outstretched arms. Hockey players
also suffer from back injuries because of the posture they adopt when skating. The risk associated
with the above injuries varies based on the player s participation in the game, the equipment the
player uses as well as the level of violence involved in the game. Players with pre existing injuries
also tend to suffer more injuries with each game (Stuart,

The Genre Of Cult Film
The area of study to be explored is genre and my investigation will look into ways we are able to
clarify the vast genre of cult film. Speculated by theorists such as Sconce, Jancovich and many
others, cult film is one of the most diverse and ambiguous genres of the past 60 years in motion
picture history. Beginning in the 1950s with unconventional flicks like Plan 9 from Outer Space
and The Blob, cult film as a quasi genre began to not only reject one set of stylistic conventions, but
also started to expand into various sub genres that it could umbrella . Highlighted by Sconce in his
study, [cult film] would include entries from disparate sub genres such as bad films ...and just about
every other manifestation of exploitation cinema... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to this, those who construct and encode ideologies and messages into cult films need
to know and implement a repertoire of elements that will go against the pleasures of recognition
and provide a more sophisticated and untraditional narrative experience. Whether through
manipulating time and space, or providing powerful subject matter, it is through these technical
and visual codes that the text will continuously challenge audience expectation and draw a
preferred or oppositional reading to the weird and wonderful it tries to represent. As argued by
Thornton, it is not defined according to some single, unifying feature shared by all cult movies,
but rather through a sub cultural ideology in filmmakers, films or audiences are seen as existing
in opposition to the mainstream. Therefore, the audience appeal for cult film is not only through
its quirky and abnormal generic values, but also through the plurality of artistic control that is
held by the auteur and its audience s desires. In order to go into more extensive detail, I have
selected Nicolas Winding Refn s Drive and David Fincher s Fight Club two contrasting texts with
diverse ideologies and technical codes yet both linked by

The Importance Of A Study Of Today s Business Market
In this essay is will be detailing the importance of a study of today s business market. A market
survey is key both before and after the release of a product or a business idea to strengthen it.
You have an idea of business that seem irresistible. Or you simply think to launch a new product,
you ve found a super location for your new business and want it, yes or Yes. Any of these actions
requires money and effort. For this reason it is necessary that we have all the data that ensures the
viability of a project. A good analysis and good planning will depend on that we devote resources
to the areas that interest us and which minimize the risks. Body
Market research helps us to understand the response of our potential customers (our target) and
suppliers and analyze our product, price and distribution, in short, all the factors to analyze a
business marketing plan. Every company should know, that often overlooked and issues that help
us make the best decisions. A correct compilation and analysis of this information we will be
valuable not only during the initial set up a business. Also our company is running, to get to know,
for example, what perception have of our brand and what notoriety has or if our product meets their
needs. A market study is something live, updatable and evolution. Quantitative, qualitative,
techniques of observation and documentary analysis are used for the development of a market
study. From polls to the research of trends in social networking or

The First Triumvirate
The First Triumvirate The first triumvirate was and alliance between three prominent politicians,
Crassus, Pompey and Julius Caesar. The Roman historian Livy described the First Triumvirate as
a conspiracy against the state by its three leading citizens . The agreement was unofficial and
private. It was formed in the summer of 60 59 B.C. The first triumvirate however is a bit
misleading in name. Not only was it never called that by the contemporary Romans, but it was a
far more inclusive factio (faction) than the term triumvirate implies. How and why the first
triumvirate was created: В·Crassus and Pompey had been colleagues in the past, they shared

She had been the personal tie between Caesar and Pompey, who were by now already drifting
apart. Caesar offered Pompey another wife, his grandniece Octavis. Pompey refused, instead
choosing to marry Cornelia Metella, daughter of Quintus Caecilius Metellus Scipio, one of
Caesar s greatest enemies in 52 B.C. This emphasized Pompey s drift away from Caesar towards
the optimates. The Death of Crassus Crassus got Syria for his proconsular service in 54 B.C.
Desperate for military glory He even left his term as consul to undertake a military campaign
against the Parthians. His ambiation outran his ability. After early success his army was
completley destroyed at Carrhae by Parthian archers in 53 B.C. during which Crassus was
murdered. This left just Pompey and Caesar to rule Rome, and Carssus death created a rivalry
between the two that could not be broken. The Rivalry between Crassus and Pompey Caesar s
successes in Gaul, along with his growing power and wealth, drove Pompey. While Caesar was
fighting in Gaul, Pompey proceeded with a legislative agenda for Rome, which revealed that he
was now covertly allied with Caesar s enemies. Pompey also made it clear that Caesar would not
be permitted to stand for Consul unless he turned over control of his armies. This would, of course,
leave Caesar defenseless before his enemies. Pompey was elected consul without colleague in 52.

Immanuel Kant Perpetual Peace
Democratic Peace is a political theory developed by Immanuel Kant in 1795. Kant discussed
democratic peace in his book, Perpetual Peace. The idea stated that democracies don t fight other
democracies. Democracies would not go to war, unless in self defense, and to counter that
necessity, Kant believed that if all nations became republics wars would cease to exist. Now, this
belief rings with a tinge of idealism, however Kant s arguments did hold validity. (Kant, I. 1795)
With countries becoming democracies and working together, there would be no need for waror
conflict, instead, relationships would focus on mutually beneficial courses of action.
In his philosophical treatise, Kant proposes three mechanisms that foster peace among nations and
societies: one: the presence of a republican constitution , which for Kant entails the requirement of
public approval before the government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Russia s military and military backed militia moved in to combat protests in the nation. Millions
of people are suffering this military oppression, and it is believed that Russia is persuing this war
in the hopes to take back Ukraine and enact broader military influence on the region, while also
gaining territory. Russia s opposition to Ukraine becoming a part of the EU seems to have
culminated in the current state of volatility between the two regions.
This situation reveals the flaws in the democratic peace theory. Russia may claim to have
democratic institutions; however old traits of autocracy are seeping through the borders. By
continually attacking Ukraine, even after a ceasefire was called in 2015, Russia showed the
world that power and control were more vital than peace. The nation and its people are being
oppressed by a force they cannot compete with. Russia would be considered a Rocky Balboa state
because it is not afraid to both initiate force and respond with it. (Thompson, N.

Why Electoral Vote Is Better Than Popular Vote
I will reflect on my persuasive speech regarding why the electoral vote is better than the popular
vote. The beginning of the speech build a case for why anyone would want to switch to the
popular vote in the first place, and the second part explained why the electoral vote is still better.
Some of the advantages of the popular vote included that not every vote is considered equal, swing
states, and that people are more informed through the media today than in the past. Despite these
benefits, the electoral college supports federalism, which assists with the dispersion of power, and
gives midwestern states a voice in the election. Additionally, any recount due to fraud or
negligence would be on a statewide level opposed to a federal level. One possible problem
regarding organization was that I had too many sub points, and that caused me to go over the time
limit. My speech might have been more memorable if I had chosen two points for each side and

Educators Perceptions Of Debriefing
Educators Perceptions of Debriefing While developing and completing a simulation experience for
students is an significant role for educators, knowing how to debrief students following a simulation
has been deemed as equal if not more important because the majority of learning occurs during this
time period (Mariani, et al., 2013). Educators have identified varying methods of debriefing, but
most of them have central themes. Most methods include some form of critique, correction,
evaluation and open discussion (Neill Wotton, 2011). It is common knowledgeamong nurse
educators that the success of debriefing depends on the facilitator and their mastery of debriefing

The educators that facilitate debriefing are the ones who are most skilled in determining what
works and does not work within debriefing. Most educators will agree that when it is time to
debrief following HFS, there is an insufficient amount of time to assess if the students will
potentially transfer the information learned in the simulation to their respective clinical rotations
(Mariani, Cantrell Meakim, 2014). Due to the fact that debriefing is such an essential activity to
engage students in active learning and developing decision making skills, educators recognize the
importance of becoming familiar with best practice for debriefing and mastering this competency.
Implications
The utilization of HFS in nursing simulation is widely supported by several nursing governing
bodies, leaders in nursing education and nursing education literature. Implications for nurse
education relate to educators recognizing HFS as an effective student centered learning and
teaching strategy. By incorporating HFS into nursing curriculum, educators give students ample
opportunities to develop and practice skills as well as using their prior knowledge in a safe

for emergency shutdowns. On March 22, 1975, In Alabama, a massive fire took place at Browns

Their Eyes Were Watching God By Zora Neale Hurston
Throughout many years in the early 19th century, people were forced to work in very poor
environments. From working for long hours on fields and plantations, they did not have an
opportunity to have a free and self fulfilling life. Their lives were very similar to that of a mule
where they had to perform very tiring and hard jobs for most of the day. In many instances, people
lived their whole life working towards freeing themselves from the workbut were never able to
accomplish their goal. In Their Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston
, the mule is used
as a symbol of the way Janie is treated in each of her relationships except when she is with
Teacake, demonstrating that it is more worthy to work like a mule with a lover than live a

Philosophy And Bertrand Russell s The Nature Of Philosophy
In The Nature of Philosophy by Bertrand Russell, it is said that if the study of philosophy has any
value at all for others than students of philosophy, it must be only indirectly, through its effects
upon the lives of those who study it . As such, the real value of philosophy comes from its study,
and this study should be compulsory in schools. This is due to its teaching of logic, rationality, and
critical thinking. This is also due to the course s teaching of the value of ethics. Finally, philosophy
should be made a compulsory subject as it has benefits that will positively affect a student s
performance outside of high school, in post secondary education and beyond.
The importance of logic and rationality in life should not be understated, and as philosophy teaches
logic to its students, it should thusly be made mandatory. A rather common sentiment is that too
many people are taken advantage of because of their lack of critical thinking, logic and deductive
reasoning . With a prevalence of advertisements and large figures in the media trying to persuade
others to believe them, a mandatory philosophy class would teach students how to effectively
apply logic so that they will no longer be taken advantage of when facing premises in the media
and in the world around them that have less to do with a sound argument and more to do with
rhetorical devices. Rick Lewis writes that philosophy is based upon logic and reasoning, and that
learning how to use logic is critical

Impact of social media on student s learning
Situation:
Over the last three decades, rapid growth and development has occurred in the area of information
and communication technologies. Within the last decade particularly, the growth in prominence of
social media and Web 2.0 technologies has had a dramatic impact globally on how people
communicate. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google_ and RenRen
have the potential to become important disruptive technologies for building cutting edge models of

The Importance Of Saving The Penny

penny coin in most transactions. Although this legislation failed, there are still consistent calls to
eliminate the penny as the smallest denomination United States coin. Nowadays, pennies sit behind

no purpose other than to calm the need for precision, pennies consume time, waste money, and
endanger safety. Today, most people look to grow economically. With work days lasting anywhere
from eight to twelve hours, we dedicate our time to making money. Time not doing a job is time
without money. We recognize the importance in giving up our time so much that we came up with
a standard social belief. Time is money.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My body quivered in excitement as my friends and I inched towards the ticket kiosk. After what
seemed like an eternity, we were next in line. All the lady in front of us had to do was pay for
her ticket and then we get to buy our tickets. However, Roman, Joe and I watched wide eyed as
this lady pulled out a handful of pennies from her purse. After she placed fifty six pennies with
her eight dollar cash on the kiosk, the attendant double checked to make sure all fifty six pennies
were present. When the lady finally left, the three of us charged the kiosk and asked for three
tickets. The attendant looked pitifully at us three, puppy faced twelve years olds as he told us that
we were two minutes after the ticket

Zootopi Is It Better To Live Together Creatively Or...
Zootopia is a mammal metropolis populated by anthropomorphic mammals where predators and
prey species, peacefully coexist and work together. These animals have no intentions on eating each
other and there are minimum conflicts between them. I do not think, that animals would be able to
survive together without eating or harming each other in real life. There are many factors that keep
animals from living together peacefully. These factors include survival instincts, food supplies,
climate and the animal s temperament. The fact that we will never be able to make animals
understand that working together can be beneficial for them can also be something that keeps them
from living together peacefully. Animals have instincts that can keep them from having peaceful
relationships with other animals. They naturally feel the need to fight or feed on other animals for...

In the movie, it shows animals living together that would normally live in very different climate
zones. Such as, a polar bear and a zebra. Polar bears live in very cold climates and zebras live in
hot, dry climates. Another issues is the animal s temperament. Some animals are more violent than
others. Lions for example, are a lot more violent than bunnies and they can cause a lot more
damage. It would be very hard to teach them that violence is not always needed, because it is in
their instincts. As of now, we do not have a good way to communicate with animals. It would be
impossible for us to get animals to understand that living together peacefully can be a good thing.
The relationship of the animals in this movie is unfortunately not realistic. This is not the only thing
in the movie that is unrealistic. The climate zones and the human like characteristics of the animals.
I think that Zootopia is a great movie, but there is no way that it could be

  • 2. Enlargement Of The European Union Introduction The European Union (EU), which began through the integration of six member states in 1951, welcomed its latest member, Croatia, in 2013, effectively bringing its total to twenty eight members (Verdun, July 23, 2015). The first EU enlargement occurred in 1973, when the UK, Ireland, and Denmark joined the union. Since then, four major enlargements have taken place, despite the long existent controversies regarding the possible value or downfalls of the expansion of the union. With over twenty more countries within the continent as possible candidates, especially as many express interest of joining, it is highly possible that efforts for further enlargement may be made in the future. The question, however, is whether EU... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of high concern, is whether the union can accommodate more diversity. Respecting and protecting minorities for the EU has been an ongoing challenge. Anti immigration is a common phenomenon, and although efforts have been made to increase acceptance, it is a challenge that may be further induced as new member states join. The candidacy of Turkey, for example, has resulted to increased anti Muslim attitudes. It is therefore questionable whether EU should pursue further enlargement in the near future, or whether it should first address the internal challenges it is currently facing prior to greater expansion. Background Economic Implications for Pre Existing and New Member States Many studies exploring the implications of further EU enlargement focus on the possible economic consequences. From liberal perspective further enlargement would mutually benefit all the member countries economically (Cohn, 2012). Often, it is argued that new members joining the union are positively affected, whereas pre existing countries suffer financial losses (Neueder, 2003). However, studies suggest that although new members experience the most economic benefits by gaining membership, pre existing members are positively impacted as well. Epstein argues that EU membership has greatly benefited Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries in economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Arguments Against Therapeutic Cloning For many years there has been a large controversy over the use of cloning for therapeutic and reproductive purposes. The argument against therapeutic cloning is that creating an exact replica of one s self all for the use of harvesting its parts is considered killing another human being. However, some people are for this use so that they can survive as long as they can, and use the clones materials as a way to cure disease or heal injuries. On the other hand, reductive cloningalso has two sides, for and against. People who believe that reproductive cloning is okay, want to create another version of themselves just to either have themselves as a baby or replace a loved one. But, people who are against reproductive cloning believe that it is a selfish or unreasonable act to have one birth a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some people fawn over the idea of cloning themselves and to have a replica of themselves be birthed by a surrogate mother. However, I believe that parents who are selfish would use the advantages of having a baby clone of themselves will overuse the power, and distinguish the rights of the baby. Since parents have legal right over medical decisions for the child, there is nothing from preventing them from harvesting their own child for their own good. I may be completely against reproductive cloning, however, some people and/or parents feel as if having a clone of a lost one will make up for their absence. Recreating someone doesn t mean that it is the same as the original because, with different external impacts, a clone can easily have different personalities, feelings, and memories. Therefore technically trying to bring back someone back, will be emotionally unsuccessful. With the technology that our world has today, reproductive cloning is absolutely possible and has been done before, but I believe that it will damage the human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Skype In End Of Life Care The authors did so many things right when writing this article. It was a good length, considering the topic it covered was so specific. They provided an adequate amount of background statistics and information on social media and how it is used today, to get a better understanding of the role of technology overall in our lives today. I also liked that they admitted the limitations of their article; for example the reader only gets the case studies from one perspective when the others are also important to know. They also did a great job of choosing cases that show the reader how Skype can and did make a huge difference for these families and their dying loved ones. There were also a few downsides in the article. I didn t feel the authors... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning I wish the article went into more detail about the evolution of the music therapy profession and how their use of music can create greater results in their patients than other care providers using music. It also could have been better organized to go from discussing music interventions in the broad clinical setting to focusing in on the end of life care setting instead of jumping back and forth between them. I feel that the article was comprised largely of information for the general clinical setting instead of the palliative and hospice setting, which was supposed to be the article topic since the article s title is Music as a Therapeutic Resource in End of Life Care . Overall, I enjoyed reading this article for a multitude of reasons. Their choice of vocabulary made it easily understandable, the topic was very interesting to me, and the fact that I can use the information I learned in my future career as a nurse is a great benefit. After reading this article I have a greater respect and understanding of music therapy and the effects it can have on patients and their families. This is why I would recommend others to read this article, especially individuals working in healthcare settings alongside music therapy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. What Was The Importance Of Segmentation In Teaching A Hustle The hustle should be taught through segmentation. Segmentation would be an effective form of teaching and an effective learning experience because it involves practicing the complex skill of performing the hustle in a more simplified form through part practice. Segmentation is a type of part practice and it involves learningone part of a skilluntil it is learned and then adding the next part, and so on, followed by practicing the parts together until they are learned. This would be beneficial when teaching the hustle becauses the hustle requires many steps and each step or sequence can not be performed until the part before it is learned. Without mastering the first set of moves in a dance before the next part, the target skill can t be performed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next, the aspect of step turn step clap going to the right, would be learned. After that, it would be added to all of the previous steps and the dancers would perform all the steps they learned in order, with the music. The same thing would occur when going to do the step turn step clap on the left side and it would be added to all of the previous steps. Next, the performers would learn how to point up toward the ceiling and then down to the ground. This part of the dance would be practiced and then combined with all previous parts until it is learned. After pointing, they would learn how to roll their arms and pop their chest, or what is known as doing the chicken . This part of the dance would be practiced until it s learned, then practiced all together with all of the movement they know this far. Lastly, the dance would be completed when the participants learn how to turn around themselves by moving their right leg front, back and to the side. Segmentation would be most effective because learning a dance has many parts and it is important to learn each part and then practice them all together so that the dance can be completed fully without ... • 6. An Age Of Political Correctness Is All The Rage And... In an age where political correctness is all the rage and conservative values are synonyms with discrimination it is not surprising that the principles by which our great nation was built on are the first to be tossed aside. We see an increasing number of leftВwing policies put into play with almost unanimous support from the media. These policies are masked with intent to bring our country together but generally end up creating even larger division. This is made ever present in the repeal of the military s Don t Ask Don t Tell act. The repel of Don t Ask Don t Tell has more Don t Ask Don t Tell was a law passed by President Bill Clinton in 1993. This widely supported law required gay military personal to refrain from mentioning, discussing, or implying their sexual preferences or orientation in any public forum or platform. The law also restricted officers in command positions from questioning any serviceman or servicewoman of having homosexual beliefs or tenancies. Retired veteran and senator John McCain brings up many valid points when he states his belief in the necessity of law by saying, This successful policy has been in effect for over 15 years, and it is well understood and predominantly supported by our military at all levels. We have the best trained, best equipped, and most professional force in the history of our country, and the men and women in uniform are performing heroically in two wars. • 7. Significance And Impact Of The Emancipation Proclamation Jonathan E. Luzniak Mr. Deeb U.S. History 1A 5 May, 2015 Significance and Impact of the Emancipation Proclamation Abraham Lincoln once said, A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved I do not expect the house to fall but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other. (Lincoln s House Divided Speech in Springfield, Illinois, June 16, 1858). The critical issue of slavery throughout the 19th century in America, was a heavily debated topic. Due to this disagreement of the bondage of slaves, America was split into two distinct entities, the Union and the Confederacy. Both of these bodies of states struggled over the idea of slavery, and whether or not it should be enforced, but both for different reasons. In the North, or the Union States, slavery was looked down upon being morally wrong, while on the other hand, the Southerners, or the Confederate States, believed the exact opposite. In the year of 1863, the issue of slavery would start to diminish due to a very important proclamation issued by President Abraham Lincoln. This prominent decree, the Emancipation Proclamation, would settle the heated dispute between the Union and the Confederacy for all years to come. Although not one slave was initially freed by the Emancipation Proclamation in the Southern states, the deeper symbolic meaning of the manifesto ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Kate Chopin s The Awakening, the author frames the notions of freedom and responsibility by contrasting them within an opposing dichotomy portrayed through the main character, Edna Pontellier, and through her subconscious denial of Creole responsibility while attaining freedom for her body, mind, and soul. Within this dichotomy the notions change inversely: the more freedom that is exercised by Edna because of unknown, and undisclosed, subconscious analysis deep in her mind, her sense of Creole responsibilities ebb proportionately. These societies consist of more than two people according to their social relations and cultural identity. With a population of 10.28 million, the 1960s was a decade of political and social upheaval in Australia. New aspects of society were being considered in shaping Australian politics through several protests in defying authority. These included women s liberation, racial equality in support of the Indigenous and Australia s participation in the Vietnam war. This then led to the inspiration of creating protest music internationally. The major cultural and societal development in Australia was seen through several elements of pop culture, predominantly rock n roll music which was heavily influenced by American and British artists and was especially successful. The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Johnny O Keefe are three of the most iconic figures that ensured the rock n roll culture and lifestyle could spread rapidly within Australia and all over the world. When the rock n roll music sensation emerged, it was at its peak in Australia during the 1950s and 1960s. • 17. Thomas Hardy s Under The Waterfall Thomas Hardy s Under the Waterfall is a poem that can be interpreted in many different ways. One cannot deny the power and influence nature has over the two lovers. The reader can understand that a voice is evoked by a memory of having a picnic in August near a waterfall with their romantic partner every time he or she places their hands into a pool of water or basin of water . One says he or she because the poem does not specifically tell the reader if it is the woman or man speaking. Hardy discusses the purity, serenity and permanence of the waterfall. Hardy establishes the first lines: Whenever I plunge my arm, like this, In a basin of water, I never miss The sweet, sharp sense of a fugitive day Fetched back from its thickening shroud of gray. (1 4) Already, one can gather a woman in hindsight of a moment is telling the poem in time. From this, it brings to light straight away that she is talking about something from the past that cannot be regained or repeated. In essence, the fugitive day has escaped. Hardy also uses an oxymoron here with sweet sharp to describe the day making clear that it was a nice delicate memory but is also a spiteful memory (3). The word fugitive means criminal, which suggests that this memory of lovers was possibly against the law or was an affair where the couple was rebellious (3). The offeree allegedly agreed to this offer by his performance for the promise made, I will take the car off Sometree. The dialogue between the parties suggests its conditional nature; the fulfilment of said conditions would lead to a binding contract. The nature of a conditional offer is also evident in the Financings Ltd v Stimpson 1962 case, where the Defendant in the case, refused to pay charges against the appellant. Consequently, the plaintiff sued him for breach of purchase agreement. It was held that the Defendants offer was subject to the agreement, that the condition of the car should continue in its undamaged state and that the failure of the condition would deem the contract non binding. Hence, this case relates with Jenny s circumstances, in which there is a breach of conditional contract, which should be legally rectified. It is also apparent that the decision of revocation is apparent from one of the parties. Thus, revocation is legal and effective only when it has been communicated to the offeree. Henceforth, the issue is that the owner of the car has not effectively communicated this to the other party, only until after both parties accepted the offer. Therefore, the owner of the red sports car does not have grounds for revocation. Similarly, this was upheld in the Stephenson Jaques Co. v McLean (1880) case. Women have always been told and perceived to be submissive to men, since the beginning of time. This story, is no exception to this belief, as Handmaids are women stripped of their rights as a human. Pompey refused, instead choosing to marry Cornelia Metella, daughter of Quintus Caecilius Metellus Scipio, one of Caesar s greatest enemies in 52 B.C. This emphasized Pompey s drift away from Caesar towards the optimates. The Death of Crassus Crassus got Syria for his proconsular service in 54 B.C. Desperate for military glory He even left his term as consul to undertake a military campaign against the Parthians. His ambiation outran his ability. After early success his army was completley destroyed at Carrhae by Parthian archers in 53 B.C. during which Crassus was murdered. This left just Pompey and Caesar to rule Rome, and Carssus death created a rivalry between the two that could not be broken. The Rivalry between Crassus and Pompey Caesar s successes in Gaul, along with his growing power and wealth, drove Pompey. While Caesar was fighting in Gaul, Pompey proceeded with a legislative agenda for Rome, which revealed that he was now covertly allied with Caesar s enemies. Pompey also made it clear that Caesar would not be permitted to stand for Consul unless he turned over control of his armies. This would, of course, leave Caesar defenseless before his enemies. • 28. Immanuel Kant Perpetual Peace Democratic Peace is a political theory developed by Immanuel Kant in 1795. Kant discussed democratic peace in his book, Perpetual Peace. The idea stated that democracies don t fight other democracies. Democracies would not go to war, unless in self defense, and to counter that necessity, Kant believed that if all nations became republics wars would cease to exist. Now, this belief rings with a tinge of idealism, however Kant s arguments did hold validity. (Kant, I. 1795) With countries becoming democracies and working together, there would be no need for waror conflict, instead, relationships would focus on mutually beneficial courses of action. In his philosophical treatise, Kant proposes three mechanisms that foster peace among nations and societies: one: the presence of a republican constitution , which for Kant entails the requirement of public approval before the government ... Millions of people are suffering this military oppression, and it is believed that Russia is persuing this war in the hopes to take back Ukraine and enact broader military influence on the region, while also gaining territory. Russia s opposition to Ukraine becoming a part of the EU seems to have culminated in the current state of volatility between the two regions. This situation reveals the flaws in the democratic peace theory. Russia may claim to have democratic institutions; however old traits of autocracy are seeping through the borders. By continually attacking Ukraine, even after a ceasefire was called in 2015, Russia showed the world that power and control were more vital than peace. The nation and its people are being oppressed by a force they cannot compete with. Russia would be considered a Rocky Balboa state because it is not afraid to both initiate force and respond with it. The beginning of the speech build a case for why anyone would want to switch to the popular vote in the first place, and the second part explained why the electoral vote is still better. Some of the advantages of the popular vote included that not every vote is considered equal, swing states, and that people are more informed through the media today than in the past. Despite these benefits, the electoral college supports federalism, which assists with the dispersion of power, and gives midwestern states a voice in the election. Additionally, any recount due to fraud or negligence would be on a statewide level opposed to a federal level. One possible problem regarding organization was that I had too many sub points, and that caused me to go over the time limit. Educators Perceptions Of Debriefing Educators Perceptions of Debriefing While developing and completing a simulation experience for students is an significant role for educators, knowing how to debrief students following a simulation has been deemed as equal if not more important because the majority of learning occurs during this time period (Mariani, et al., 2013). Educators have identified varying methods of debriefing, but most of them have central themes. Most methods include some form of critique, correction, evaluation and open discussion (Neill Wotton, 2011). The educators that facilitate debriefing are the ones who are most skilled in determining what works and does not work within debriefing. Most educators will agree that when it is time to debrief following HFS, there is an insufficient amount of time to assess if the students will potentially transfer the information learned in the simulation to their respective clinical rotations (Mariani, Cantrell Meakim, 2014). Due to the fact that debriefing is such an essential activity to engage students in active learning and developing decision making skills, educators recognize the importance of becoming familiar with best practice for debriefing and mastering this competency. Implications The utilization of HFS in nursing simulation is widely supported by several nursing governing bodies, leaders in nursing education and nursing education literature. Implications for nurse education relate to educators recognizing HFS as an effective student centered learning and teaching strategy. By incorporating HFS into nursing curriculum, educators give students ample opportunities to develop and practice skills as well as using their prior knowledge in a safe environment without ... From working for long hours on fields and plantations, they did not have an opportunity to have a free and self fulfilling life. Their lives were very similar to that of a mule where they had to perform very tiring and hard jobs for most of the day. In many instances, people lived their whole life working towards freeing themselves from the workbut were never able to accomplish their goal. In Their Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston , the mule is used as a symbol of the way Janie is treated in each of her relationships except when she is with Teacake, demonstrating that it is more worthy to work like a mule with a lover than live a leisurely life without one. • 36. Philosophy And Bertrand Russell s The Nature Of Philosophy In The Nature of Philosophy by Bertrand Russell, it is said that if the study of philosophy has any value at all for others than students of philosophy, it must be only indirectly, through its effects upon the lives of those who study it . As such, the real value of philosophy comes from its study, and this study should be compulsory in schools. This is due to its teaching of logic, rationality, and critical thinking. This is also due to the course s teaching of the value of ethics. Finally, philosophy should be made a compulsory subject as it has benefits that will positively affect a student s performance outside of high school, in post secondary education and beyond. The importance of logic and rationality in life should not be understated, and as philosophy teaches logic to its students, it should thusly be made mandatory. A rather common sentiment is that too many people are taken advantage of because of their lack of critical thinking, logic and deductive reasoning . With a prevalence of advertisements and large figures in the media trying to persuade others to believe them, a mandatory philosophy class would teach students how to effectively apply logic so that they will no longer be taken advantage of when facing premises in the media and in the world around them that have less to do with a sound argument and more to do with rhetorical devices. Rick Lewis writes that philosophy is based upon logic and reasoning, and that learning how to use logic is critical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
