Essay On Reino De La Magia
In a world far from ours where magic was essential for life, there was a kingdom named Reino de la
Magia, or the Kingdom of Magic. The kingdom was ruled by King Alejandro and his wife,
Queen Carmen. In this world, it was possible to transfer magic but doing so was very dangerous.
Once the magic of someone s body had disappeared, they would disappear too. To find someone to
transfer the magicwillingly was the only problem for Alejandro and Carmen, though. They did not
care about what would happen to the people they stole the magic from. The king and queen were
not strong enough and did not know of many other people that were. Therefore, they could not
transfer the magic. Even if they had found someone willing to do it, the price to have the magic
restored was hefty. But still, they claimed they would do anything for the magic of their residents....

Give us the power of the whole kingdom, they demanded. The sorceress though did hesitate at
first, claiming that once the magic was taken, they would have to face the consequences until
they found someone new to give it back. Without thinking, they accepted and the process began.
As all the people of Reino de la Magia slept, the magic was drained from their bodies. Without
magic, they resident s bodies crumbled to dust. But even when they had all the magic they
wished for, King Alejandro and Queen Carmen were still not satisfied. For, magic was only used
for two things, to give or to take. But with no people to take from and no people to give to, the
kingdom grew boring and still. Carmen and Alejandro sat on their thrones waiting for their
servants. They rang the bells and hollered their names, but nothing happened. It was then when they
finally realized what they had done. Not only were their friends and family gone, but their servants
were too. The two grew sad and

Media Misogyny Moral Panic Analysis
Media misogyny, moral panic, and the production of fear all sit at the intersection of crime, media,
and culture. Fear is produced, which strengthens panic, while the pervasive nature of misogyny
affects society as a whole. Media Misogyny
Continuing on the discussion of themes from the textbook, female killers are seen as novel
because the media and psychoanalytic perspectives that are pervasive, despite evidence to the
contrary of their validity, frame women in a certain way; simple, weak, kind, mothers, wives So
when a case emerges with a woman acting counter to these stereotypes, the media seemingly has
two reactions. One is to treat this woman as a victim. The other, to treat her like the cruelest, the

David Altheide tells us in a 2013 article written by Campbell about the media making up
monsters and twisting stories for the sole purpose of manufactured terror. He describes the
discourse of fear that pervades our society, which relates to the sense of danger and fear, and the
consequences. Social life starts to change because of it, and we start altering our lives. We don t
go out as much. Architecturally, we protect ourselves with gated communities, high walls and no

How To Write A Reflective Essay On Theodore Roosevelt s...
I was nearly finished with my day at work. I had written a journalistic piece comparing Teddy
Roosevelt s presidency with Donald Trumps that would be published sometime next week in the
newspaper. I wouldn t say that I loved my job, but I was good at it. Writing for the Chicago
Tribune was one of my biggest dreams in college. I made the big move to the city to achieve it.
Now that I ve accomplished it, it is not as rewarding as I thought it would be. My boss had yet to
give me a writing assignment I was passionate about. The content was incredibly bland; politics are
not my style.
I wrote the final sentence of my article then clicked my laptop shut. As I looked out the window of
my office building, I realized it had begun to rain. The soft ... Show more content on

Of course Carter has his own set of keys to our place, but bolting the door behind me gave me a
deep satisfaction that I unfortunately knew wouldn t last much longer. With the dead bolt, he may
be able to unlock the door, but he wouldn t be able to get in. I flipped the light switch, illuminating
the entire apartment in a yellow glow. This made me feel even more at ease. I was finally out of
the looming darkness of the night. With the artificial light, I was now haunted by the many
pictures I kept of Carter all around the room. There was one hanging right in the entry way,
encased in a black frame. We were flaunting huge smiles, as this was the first day of our
honeymoon. We had chosen to go to Colorado because of our shared love for the expanse of a
snowy mountain range rather than a beach where the sands are so hot they burn the toes. I saw the
mountains in the background of this picture, but they were not nearly as beautiful as they are in
person. As is the case with any photograph of nature. A strong, pounding knock at the door brought
me out of my thoughts of snowy mountain caps and back to my hellacious present. I heard Carter

Romeo And Juliet Love At First Sight Essay
The story of Romeo and Juliet is one of love and terrible tragedy. Many people have argued if it
was actually love that they were experiencing, or if it was just a physical attraction. The article,
Love At First Sight by Elizabeth Bernstein, provides facts that prove Romeo and Juliet were not in
love, but experiencing strong infatuation with each other. Both Romeo and Juliet were
experiencing some sort of heartbreak at the time of their meeting, causing them to have poor and
quick judgement. The article states that both were in a desperate emotional state. Juliet was upset
about marrying Paris, and would have done anything to get out of it. The handsome new boy who

Romeo had just loved another girl, Rosaline, only moments before seeing Juliet and deciding that
he had loved her instantly. According to the article, Loveat first sight is a phenomenon that 15%
of people have reported experiencing it. They described it as a once in a lifetime situation. It
seems impossible that Romeo had experienced this with two girls within a few days. As for Juliet,
she is only 13 years old. Many studies have found that children can not love somebody romantically
until they have hit puberty. She shows her immaturity towards the beginning of the book, when the
nurse is speaking to her and she gets extremely embarrassed. While she does mature throughout the
play, her maturity level at when she first met Romeo was no where near where it would have to be
to fall inlove.
According to the article, three factors are present when you fall in love: Studies have found: You
have to like the other person s physical appearance; you have to find his or her personality
desirable, and you have to feel the other person likes you The teens had declared their love for each

This shows that they were infatuated with each other rather than in love because they knew nothing

Out Stealing Horses Analysis
In the novel, Out Stealing Horses by Per Petterson, a 67 year old man named Trond who lives in
solitude in Norway reflects back on the summer of 1948 where several significant events changed
his life. It follows his progression of growing up and starting to understand more about the people
and surroundings that revolve around his life and how they ve shaped him into becoming a mature
and wise man. Eventually, he realizes the truth that growing up is inevitable and accepts the fact
that things will never be the same again. In Out Stealing Horses, Petterson uses the motif and
imagery of water to show how Trond s familiarity and interactions with the river reflects his gradual
process of maturing from a innocent boyinto a stronger man. As a young boy, Trond s interactions
with water illustrates his innocence, showing his youthful behavior and preservation of
innocence. Growing up, water has played a huge role in Trond s life; He would often go out,
fishing for trout in the river (15) or riding logs down the river (15). These activities that Trond
engages in reflects Trond s close bond with the river and how it brought out his adventurous and
youthful behavior. The dynamic environment of the river and the never ending flow of water is
symbolic of Trond s constant energetic youth. As a kid, Trond was always outside admiring the
beauty of nature or out stealing horses, and the river provided him the opportunity to do that. In
order to go out stealing horses, Trond had to row across the river (32), in which the river acted
as the path or gateway that led Trond to his next adventure. In addition, the river also represents
Trond s reluctance to change or grow out of his childhood. Trond recalls, I could immerse myself
in water up to my chin and remain the person I was (101). This highlights the idea that the river is
a comfort zone in which Trond is able to submerge himself in and stay youthful. Trond doesn t
want to grow out of his childhood and the river protects his innocence. Even with the current
pounding away and pulling at his body, (101) Trond felt untouched and remained the same person.
This shows how the river maintains Trond s growth into a man and it serves to show that Trond is
the anchor of

helping the students that school is fun and has more is it that just learning school lessons. There
will be lessons on how to learn to be social with other classmates. Working with parents is a very
important part in the child s development. The parent getting involved will reassure that the child
is not alone in such a critical stage of learning as will will give them a better chance to bond
together. A teacher will as will spend long hours grading and trying to view the child s
perspective on why they answered as they did. Doing so helps the teacher see what new ways
she may be able to help the child learn and comprehend the new lesson that is being presented to
them. This will show if the way that the lesson is being explained to the children, is an effective
way of doing so. ( Page 1. https://www.prospects.ac.uk./job profiles/primary school teacher)

Panthera Leo Research Paper
Taxonomy
Introduction
The animal kingdom consists of about 800,000 known species (to include those that have been
proven to exist). All animals have multiple cells and therefore rely on the cells of other living or
dead organisms for their sustenance (growth and development). Animals develop from small groups
of unspecialized cells and the animals with simple cells grow their missing body parts through
regeneration. There are 36 phyla in the kingdom Animalia, for instance, Porifera, Annelida,
Mollusca, Arthropoda, Echinodermata and Chordata among others (Dudley, 2002). Pantheraleo
The African lion (Panthera leo), is a bold and admired species of the animal kingdom which
commands a lot of respect and fear in equal measure from human beings and wild animals alike. It

Dimorphic males have dark manes that distinguish them easily from the females. Adult males
weigh up to 200kg while an average females weighs 120kg. The Panthera leo are polygamous and
they breed once every year. Statistics show that male lions are conspicuously large and they use
this advantage to dominate the pride of lions, which they have control over. Pride males form
coalitions in order to increase their chances of deposing an alpha male in another territory.
Succession battles are violent and bloody and may lead to serious injuries or death to the losers.
These hostile takeovers are precipitated by the need to pass individual genes to the next generation
of lions through the siring of cubs. As a result, the incumbent lion often takes unorthodox
precautions of eliminating the genes of the defeated lion through the killing of the suckling cubs of
their predecessors (Grinnel,

The Clinical Experience Of Intern At Multiple Sites
This is the last semester of my radiologic sciences bachelor program. Throughout the many
months, there have been countless situations which prompted me to form and execute decisions
which have led to a patient s well being. Although this is a subjective statement, I genuinely
believe that I was able to impact many of my patients in a positive fashion. From experience it
seemed that patients understood my intention and allowed themselves to trust me. The clinical
experience this program has entailed is outstanding in respect to the other programs. I was given
the opportunity to intern at multiple sites ranging from Santa Clarita to East LA to Santa
Monica. With that being said, the demographics in these areas are so different and allowed me
to adjust to various ethnic and social groups. The following examples are situations, which
occurred throughout my final fall semester. During my one week rescheduling at Olive View, I

Does Writing Down Notes On Paper More Effective Than...
Does writing down notes on paper more effective than typing it?
Cerebrum: The cerebrum is the main part of the brain, which has two halves, or hemispheres. The
right hemisphere controls the left side of the body and deals with things such as creativity, music,
and art. While the left hemisphere of the cerebrum controls the right side of the body and is in
charge of language, problem solving, and math. The cerebrum s many tasks are carried out by its
outer layer, or its cortex. This has distinct areas that have different roles. Motor areas trigger
movement; sensory areas deal with the senses, while association areas clarify information.
Cerebellum: The cerebellum is responsible for producing smooth, coordinated movements of the
body. It analyzes incoming information about the body s current movement and position then
interacts with the primary motor cortex to precisely time muscle contractions.
Why does writing something down help us remember it better?
Our brain is separated into several regions that undergo different kind of information. Then there are
regions that process information such as visual, verbal communication, auditory, emotions, etc.
These different regions communicate with each other and each one of them has its own processes
it has to complete first. For example one looks at a piece of art and express their emotions with
language, thus working the verbal function part of the brain.

The Odyssey by Homer
As society has progressed, composers have adapted and appropriated the archetypal quest so as to
reflect the values of the time s culture appropriately. This has been a necessary course of action, to
ensure their writing conveys the quest and its respective elements in a manner that will be
understood by the responder in the relevant time period. The texts The Odyssey(Homer 8th Century
BC), In the Shadow of No Towers (Art Spiegelman 2004) and The Picture of Dorian Gray (Oscar
Wilde 1890) have appropriated the archetypal quest in their respective time periods to reflect the
values of their context.

I wanted to sort out the fragments of what I d experienced from the media images that threatened
to engulf what I actually saw, and the collage like nature of a newspaper page encouraged my
impulse to juxtapose my fragmentary thoughts in different styles This quote from the author
enables the responder to develop further insight into Art s reasoning behind how he has structured
the comics, and why he chose to create them. The time period after September 11 in which the
comic was devised and then published was the beginning of a very invasive media presence. The
way in which the media dramatized its information, and bombard its audience with it, made it very
hard for one to distinguish between the facts of events, and the images the media would present us
with. This is very much evident in Art s somewhat satirical and cynical representation of the media.
Another theme that is prevalent throughout his work, is the idea that the government s ideas and
policies were heavily engrained into the American media. On one of his splash pages, he depicts
himself as a downtrodden writer, who is walking with his head down, his clothes and beard are
shown to be dishevelled. He says Despair slows me down, so I worry whether NYC, or I, will still
be around to see if my page was well printed . The use of several commas allows this to be read as
if Art is speaking aloud, these are thoughts being projected straight out, without pause or mental
editing. This gives

Disadvantages Of Process Control
Process control plays a crucial role in the chemical engineering industry. The aim of process control
is to have a safe plant operation, to attain the design product output, to obtain quality standards from
maintaining the product composition and to operate at the lowest production cost (Sinnott, 2005).
A process control systemis there to eliminate or implement corrective actions on any disturbance
that occurs during operation of a process. Achieving these actions is done through using control
loops that measure specific process variables, compare a desired output to these variables and
control another variable to correct any deviation in the set point of the system being investigated
(Svrcek, Mahoney, Young, 2006).

Strong Response Draft The web is filled with online trolls who would sell what shreds of dignity
they have left for an Angela Lansbury nude. Equally, the average internet user has come to despise
the delinquents who harm in the form of internet torture. And while he or she could be blamed for
being reckless, it is uncommon to guilt the average internet user for being hacked. The fault lies
with the malicious hacker. In recent months, many celebrities have had private photos of
themselves hacked and posted on the internet for the world to see. While a blatant invasion of
privacy, it is also a sacrilegious towards the celebrity s body and their rights to consent.
In Blame Photo Thieves, Not the Female Victim, columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. expresses his
perspective that while it is biologically natural for heterosexual men, regardless of occupation or
personal beliefs, to find scantily clad women attractive, it should be a woman s choice of whether to
pose naked for the public or not. Pitts believes that a violation occurs when women are denied that
choice and have personal nudes leaked over the internet, such as in recent cases involving Jenifer

Observation Of The Opera
The Austin Opera did an outstanding performance of Bizet s Carmen , on Thursday night, played
at The Long Center of the Performing Arts. Carmen is an Opera by French composer Georges
Bizet, who died suddenly months after Carmen s debut in Paris 1875. Bizet was a composer
during the romantic era, although he has other works Carmen is his most successful work and is
frequently performed in the world of operas.
I don t remember the last time I attended an opera but it was probably 10 years ago for a field trip
in elementary school. Attending the opera is something I see don t myself doing but I m glad I had
an opportunity to go.
The opera was conducted by Richard Buckley who has worked with many operas all around the
Unites States and overseas. I ve been to a couple of middle school and high school concerts where
there was a conductor and I ve enjoyed watching the conductors move their hands in the air, it was
my favorite part. During the opera, I would get distracted by Buckley s movements, you could to
tell he was so concentrated in the music. I m no music experts but from my point of view the
orchestra sounded wonderful and if there were any mistakes I wasn t able to hear them. The
whole cast had phenomenal voices but Carmen (Sandra Piques Eddy), Escamillo (Norman
Garrett) and MicaГ«la (Heather Phillips) had to be my top favorites of the night. Can you believe

nbsp;Professional sports, like most of our popular culture, can be understood only partly by

games anymore but also hardcore businesses. As businesses, sports leagues can be as conniving,
deceitful, and manipulative as any other businesses in the world. No matter what the circumstances

the Oakland Raiders to Los Angeles, he pulled away from some of sport s most loyal fans and

A Critical Evaluation Of Rice Processing Machines Essay
The design that was chosen for this project was one of a few that were considered. However,
after a process of analysis and evaluation, the design chosen was deemed the best to achieve the
best possible results in the process of processing wild rice.
Description of Metrics
Metrics are the measures otherwise termed as parameters of assessment of qualities that are
quantitative. They are used to measure, compare and track performance as well as levels of
production. Metrics are used to make comparisons regardless of the variations in the subject
matters, in this case which are machines. In order to establish metrics used in this project a critical
evaluation of rice processing machines was done considering the output given as well as the set
goals. In other words metrics can be defined simply as tools used to evaluate performance or Key
Performance Indicators (KPIs) [24].
The metrics applied in the selection of this design include:
Quality
Quality is defined as the standard of something (machine) compared to others of the same category
(rice processing machines). With regard to manufacturing, quality is idealistically interpreted as the
non inferior or superior nature in comparison to others. It is a measure that determines how fit a
machine is for its set purpose. It is a measure that can be described as conditional or otherwise
subjective to which every individual has their own definition. Consumers are more concerned with
the quality specified whereas manufacturers are

Ford s Effect On Manufacturing Industry
On July 30, 1863, an industrialist was born, neither him nor anyone for that matter, knew he was
to forever change the world, he was known as Henry Ford (1863 1947). Ford grew up on his
parents farm in Michigan. He loved to work on the farm machinery. He was good at fixing things
and could even repair watches. Although Ford did not invent the automobile but his introduction of
the Model T automobile revolutionized transportation and American industry, his inventions are
still marveled in the modern world today. Henry Fordinstalled the World s first moving assembly
linein December 1913. Ford and the assembly line improved work conditions, revolutionized
production and revolutionized American society.
Ford effect on manufacturing reaches worldwide. Prior to the Industrial Revolution people were
largely self reliant, but the industrial revolution transported increased separation of labor, and
this separation of labor got a specialization, which carried increased productivity. Specialization,
however, decreased self sufficiency and people became gradually dependent on one another.
Which was the process of socialization of labor. Ford was capable of making a reliable and low
cost auto because of his ground breaking, assembly line. The Assembly line is a sequence of
workers, machines, and parts down which an incomplete product passes, each worker performing a
procedure, until the product is assembled (Mass Production). The assembly line was undoubtedly

Characteristics Of Symbols In Santiago And Santiago In...
6. How does the king assist Santiago in recognizing omens? When does Santiago use this help?
Omens were a guide for Santiago in his journey. The king assist Santiago in recognizing omens
by giving his two stones for making decision. They are called Urim and Thummim. The black
signifies yes , and the white no . When you are unable to read the omens, they will help you to
do so. Always ask an objective question (Coelho 32). Afterwards, Santiago used two stones after
he was robbed by the boy. Am I going to find my treasure? he asked (Coelho 44). He had learned
that there were certain things one shouldn t ask about, so as not to flee from one s personal
legend. I promised that I would make my own decisions, he said no to himself (Coelho 44).
Santiago is trying to ask the stones for an answer of his question. Santiago s personal legend is
to find treasures. But then the question he had asked is not objective and it s not a yes or no
question. If the stones have given the answer, then it s end of the journey and it would give it
away the ending. 7. What is foreboding? What are two examples of how foreboding is present

TO WHAT EXTENT WAS THERE A MID TUDOR CRISIS DURING THE REIGNS OF
EDWARD VI AND MARY I? The mid Tudor crisis is a term often used by historians to describe
the reigns of Edward VI (1547 1553) and Mary I (1553 1558). This period can be seen as a crisis,
due to the fact that there were so many problems financially, socially, religiously and
constitutionally, which led to rebellions, and placed the country in a very unstable position. It is
clear that many of the origins of this crisis have their roots in the reign of Henry VIII. He left a
very difficult legacy to his successors, but it must be remembered that Somerset provoked the
problems already in existence and Northumberland and Mary I then had the difficult task of
resolving them.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Northumberland also established the Privy Coffer to provide contingency funds. Mary herself
reformed the customs and introduced the book of rates in 1558. There was also, as Guy
perceives a shift towards national finance . Although the period 1552 8 is still described as a
crisis, it must be remembered that there were some productive reforms and that the situation did
not decline. Historians such as Pollard who see government as sterile, impotent and unproductive
at this time do not seem to have taken into account these positive financial developments. It is
evident that Henry was at the root of the financial problems and that Somerset exacerbated them.
However the positive achievements of Northumberland and Mary must not be forgotten.
Somerset lacked charm and made enemies easily. His arrogance and pride created resentment.
He was a weak administrator who refused to listen to the experts. The crisis came for Somerset,
in 1559 when he failed to deal decisively with rebellions in the west and in Norfolk (which had
been partly caused by his own policies). As Dale Hoak points out his colleagues decided to get rid
of him at this point not because he supported the poor but because he was incompetent . When
Northumberland came into power, even though his reforms were far more extreme, with no
possibility of alternative

Foreshadowing In God Sees The Truth But Waits By Leo Tolstoy
God sees the truth, but waits by Leo N. Tolstoy is about a man named Aksionov, who is a
merchant and is going to a fair. On the way there he is wrongfully accused and convicted of
murder. He spends the next twenty six years in jail and discovers who the real murderer is. He
only becomes free once he forgives his offender. The author uses foreshadowing and symbolism
to convey that if there are skeletons in the closet they need to be taken out before the future can
take place. Foreshadowing is used to argue that by leaving the past behind, but not forgetting it,
consequences can be avoided in the future. Before Aksionov leaves on his trip to the fair his wife
pleads with him not to go. She has a terrible feeling something bad will happen.... Show more

Aksionov has been in prison for many years now, with no answers to why he is there. He has
gained the trust of everyone who knows him but he still finds himself trapped in prison. But a
new set of prisoners comes in and changes everything. Makar Semyonich has just been convicted
of a crime when he comes and asks to hear Aksionov s story of how he got there as well. After he
explains that he was wrongfully accused Makar laughs saying he is dumb for not catching the
other man in the act, how would he put the knife in the bag without him knowing? We are told,
When Aksionov heard these words, he felt sure this was the man who had killed the merchant.
(Tolstoy 7). This strikes a nerve with Aksionov and eventually, Aksionov gets Makar to confess
the crime to him. But that does not change the fact that he is locked up. So he decides to forgive
Makar. He says, God will forgive you! said he. Maybe I am a hundred times worse than you. And
at these words his heart grew light, (Tolstoy 10). This shows us that when he offered forgiveness
it set him free. He no longer felt depressed and alone in the prison. This shows us how his
forgiveness had the same effect as releasing him from prison. His forgiveness symbolizes his
freedom. Since Makar told the truth, Aksionov was able to be freed from his guilt and shame,
showing how the truth and forgiveness can set you

As the population increases everywhere around the world and people are getting accustomed to

shape the demand, and gave rise to mergers and acquisitions, broader product line and increased

interdependent equipment pieces, have an advantage over competitors. Industry analysis shows
that in 1999, the total value of shipped food product machinery was $2.968 billion a 3% increase

Social Bond Theory
Through the evolution of social bonds, individuals have always been under scrutiny to abide by a
list of rules in order to be successful in their community. This ideology is made evident in the
book, The Code of the Street, by Elijah Anderson. Anderson dissects and exposes the various
issues dealing with families in urban minority communities. These families are labeled as street and
decent . The connotation of the term code of the street is a set of accepted and understood set of
rules in which street and decent families abide by in order to function in modern day street society.
These regulatory rules are known as a code because this term is not blatantly stated, but mutually

Aker s social learning theory is evident in Anderson s research in Code of the Street. Aker explains
that the social learning theory attributes learning criminal behavior through the engagement of
peers. This theory can be practical in understanding the code of the streets of minorities in urban
communities. Modern society has put a label on crime in that it is inappropriate and that people
should not participate in it. However, those in disadvantaged communities who abide by the code of
the street allow the denotation of crime to change in their attempts to survive in such conditions.
Anderson states, Children growing up in these circumstances learn early in life that this [criminal

communities that portray the code of the street in terms of crime in the eyes of the

All Quiet on the Western Front by Ericha Maria Remarque
I think it [war] is more of a kind of fever. No one in particular wants it, and then all at once there
it is. We didn t want the war, the others say the same thing and yet half the world is in it all the
same. (206) Erich Remarque describes how war is an odd sort of happening through Albert
Kropp, one of the most intelligent young men of Paul Bäumer s company. Remarque, himself a
German World War 1 veteran, uses the characters of Paul s company to channel his frustrations
from his experiences during the war. The vivid imagery used to describe bombardments and life at
the front allows the reader to visualize the reality of warfare. It s bloody, messy, and repulsive.
Extreme detail aids Remarque in exposing the atrocities of war, and its repercussions. All Quiet on
the Western Frontfocuses on an anti war theme, and how war itself has no purpose other than to be
savage and wasteful.
Some aspects of the novel serve as symbol for important things Remarque would like the audience
to note. Kemmerich s boots are the most prominent example. The soft leather boots are passed
down from man to man after one dies, and it isn t thought of in depth. Kemmerich takes them from
a deceased airman, and after he dies, MГјller is the owner. Paul then inherits the boots from
MГјller. The footwear symbolises the nonchalance of war, and how one must remain practical.
Paul realizes this as he observes MГјller hound Kemmerich for his boots. Schoolmaster Kantorek,
the old teacher of Paul, serves

The newest iPhone comes out in two weeks; the Android OS continues to deploy on better and

A Starting Point
You can evaluate iPhone and Android devices from countless angles, so rather than pretend that
we ve got the One True Comparison, it only seems appropriate to highlight that we re not
necessarily your average user. For more specifics on how we judge these devices, read this footnote.

Android s brilliant pull down window shade notification tray, on the other hand, is a beautiful thing
that could make any iPhone owner jealous.
Voice to Text; Winner: Android
Nearly every text field on an Android device can be filled with a few words from your mouth, and
it works surprisingly well. You can respond to emails by voice, send long text messages by voice
while you re walking around Target, respond to your editor s IMs while you re at a graduation
ceremony, and so on, as long as you re comfortable talking to your phone (it is a phone, so you
should be). Apart from voice to text in third party apps, iOS doesn t support voice to text at all.
Syncing; Winner: Android iPhones can be incredible standalone devices, but they re surprisingly
old fashioned when it comes to syncing, requiring users to plug into their computers and connect to
iTunes to do all sorts of syncing and activating that could be more conveniently done wirelessly.
Android phones support pretty great over the air syncing with your Google account, so much so
that if you were to lose your previous Android phone, simply entering your Google account into a
new one can get you up and running with a usable phone in a jiffy.

other popular sources of data like, say,

Human Activity Is Causing Global Warming Essay
Climate change poses a serious threat to Earth and its inhabitants. There is now substantial evidence
that human activity is causing global warming because of our large emissions of greenhouse gases.
For instance, atmospheric carbon dioxide currently measures at three hundred and ninety seven
parts per million, which is the highest it has been for at least the past one million years (National
Research Council of the National Academies). Also, scientific data shows that Earth s average
surface temperature has increased more than 1.7 Fahrenheit over the past one hundred years
(National Research Council of the National Academies). The evidence is unequivocal that our
activities are the main culprit to the disruption of the climate system. In 2013, the top four emitters
of carbon dioxidetotaled to fifty eight percent of entire global emissions (Loiseau). Among these
four, China is the largest, accounting for twenty eight percent (Loiseau). The United States
accounted for fourteen percent; The EU accounted for ten percent; And India accounted for seven
percent (Loiseau). Specifically, China s total annual carbon dioxide emissions amounted to a
massive 8.3 billion metric tons while the United States emitted 5.4 billion metric tons annually
(Loiseau). India followed China and the United States with just over 2 billion metric tons emitted
annually (Loiseau). This data could, however, be somewhat misleading. For example, even though
China does emit the most, it only emits 6.2 metric

Desvenlafaxine Case Study
Answer: Desvenlafaxine is recommended for this patient among SSRI and SNRI. Because
desvenlafaxine is least affected by this patient s CYP2D6 poor metabolizer and CYP2C19 poor
metabolizer status among SSRI and SNRI, has no drug drug interaction with the current
medications and has better safety profile compared with other SSRI and SNRI. Rationale: Based
on the PharmGKB website and relative articles, the patient has CYP2D6 *4/*4 genotype means
she is a poor metabolizer of the CYP2D6 enzyme, CYP2D6 *4 allele has inactive CYP2D6
enzyme activity, she has two inactive alleles resulting being a poor metabolizer of CYP2D6. Also,

guidelines for fluvoxamine and paroxetine regarding CYP2D6, also for citalopram,
escitalopram, sertraline regarding CYP2C19. These guidelines suggest the reduction of the dose
or alteration of medication if the patient has a poor metabolizer phenotype. Since this patient is a
poor metabolizer for both CYP2D6 and CYP2C19, patients may experience side effects from
relevant SSRIs due to higher plasma concentration, we may need to avoid using the above
SSRIs. Additionally, she tried paroxetine, fluoxetine, and sertraline in the past which were all not

desvenlafaxine, duloxetine, and venlafaxine. Among these SNRIs, venlafaxine is mainly
metabolized by CYP2D6, desvenlafaxine is mainly metabolized by conjugation and minor
metabolized by CYP3A4, it is also an inhibitor of CYP2D6. Duloxetine is mainly metabolized by
CYP1A2 and CYP2D6. Based on the information above and patient s genotyping result,
desvenlafaxine will be the best choice for her. Although it is a dose dependent inhibitor of
CYP2D6, this patient has no CYP2D6 enzyme activity, desvenlafaxine won t cause the clinical

Piracy of the Caribbean It seems to be common knowledge that murder, thievery, and full blown

blamed upon piracy, buccaneering, and privateering being at an all time high; this earned the time

Eulogy About Land
Hello, my family I are from Sweden and our occupation are farmers so we have a little bit of land
here and wished that we can have more space to plant our crops. So anyways, I am a mother with a
husband and 3 children. My husbands name is Larry and he is great at protecting all of us. I have
two sons named Jason and Tom, and a daughter named Heather who is 10 years old. Jason is the
older brother of Tom and Heather, but Jason is 14 years old, Tom is 10 years old, like the same age
as Heather. We are moving west to Oregon because I heard there is more land and there is a lot of
space to build our house, space to build a barn for our oxen, and we will have enough space to plant
our crops. I thought it will be great someday, so we can sell... Show more content on

Sense of adventure and I m glad there is no malaria. Plus we were on foot with no food or water.
Well from the start, there is some traffic jams and we have trouble controlling our animals
because they may be wild and wanted to run around where they want. There are a few accidents,
some fell out of the wagons and fell into the wagon wheels. It doesn t look okay and I feel sad
that the guy got his head crushed. Therefore some of them went hunting and one accidentally
shot a man and he went down and collapsed bleeding on the grass, I wish it didn t happen because
the children got scared that the man died. I feel bad for him. Some days became storming with
lightning or hail. It was getting us wet and the hail is falling on our heads, so I bring the young
children inside so they won t get hurt from the falling hail. For the people who died are buried in
shallow graves and they are deep down in the ground. Later on, we all found buffalo, millions
and millions of them, some men went hunting for Buffalo for a sport. Sometimes in the night,
we all went camping, we got to circle the wagons and trap our animals is so they won t escape
running around. All of us traveled 15 miles in 6 months. We slept on the ground with our
blankets and pillows, but it is dirty so in the morning I will clean the clothes so are people will
be clean with clean clothes. In the morning, we all eat breakfast with bacon, we also ate bacon in
lunch and dinner time. Well, we like to eat bacon raw because I thought that we won t enough time
to cook it with the fire we lit up, that might take a long time to cook. Like if we have time to get

A Modest Proposal A Satire
In 1757 Jonathan Swift wrote A Modest Proposal; a satire telling the public that the answer to
the economic problem was to eat their own children (Lynch). According to Merriam Webster,
satire is trenchant wit, irony, or sarcasm used to expose and discredit vice or folly ( Satire ). Satire
uses humor, exaggeration, parody, and ridicule to expose folly in society or a person and
advocates for some sort of change. Satireis broken into three different forms: Juvenalian, Horatian,
and Menippean satire. Satire is typically thought of as funny or humorous, but this assumption only
covers Horatian or Menippean satire; this leaves out Juvenalian. Juvenalian satire is a harsh satire.
It bombards vice with ridicule and contempt by bringing to light... Show more content on

Satire always has a purpose. If a reader truly wants to understand, the Why? has to be asked. Behind
every work of satire, there is a why. The writer wants the readers to read his or her work and leave
with a desire to change. A Modest Proposalby Jonathan Swift is, again, an example of this. To the
casual reader, it would seem that Swift was writing a horrible proposal. He or she may even pick
up on the fact that his satire is Juvenalian satire and the techniques he used but without the Why?
the purpose is lost. Swift saw the pitiful situation that the Irish people were in and he also saw
that at least part of it was self inflicted. The Irish people were just letting the English subject them
to high taxing and oppression, and Swift could see this. The purpose of him writing A Modest
Proposal was to get the Irish people to do something about their circumstances. He shocked his
readers in having this realization. The purpose of the satire is the most important part of any satire.
The writer is advocating for a change from people, usually for the better. The techniques and
methods are just different pathways the writer can take on his or her road to voicing

Financial Ratios Analysis Of Pumpkin Patch Limited
Introduction
This is the report about financial ratios analysis of Pumpkin Patch Limited(PPL). This children s
clothing retail brand began with one store in 1991, now has about 600 employees across 43 stores
in New Zealand and 1000 staff in 117 stores in Australia. However, it tripped into receivership
recently. At the same time, Pumpkin Patch managing director Luke Bunt said however, despite
considerable efforts by the board and its management team, it has become evident that no solution
is available to the company, at this time, to address the current over leveraged and significantly
capital constrained position. (McNicol, 2016)
This report will discuss the reasons for PPL s failure, which is supported by the research mentioned

Moreover, comparing zero interest bearing liability in 2014 with 41 million in 2015, the current
liability was increased from 30 million to 72 million. It also explained why current ratio was
declined from 3.04 in 2014 to 0.88 and 0.73 in 2015 and 2016 separately.
The quick ratio is a more rigorous test for the company s ability to meet its short term debts than
current ratio because inventory was eliminated from current assets. The quick ratio for PPL
indicates serious issues as it has decreased from 0.31 in 2012 to 0.07 in 2016. The low quick
ratio implies that a considerable portion of the current assets of the company is tied up as part of
its inventory (Bragg, 2007), which means that the lower level of quick liquidity ratio indicates a
high level of financial risk. The balance sheet for PPL (PPL, 2016) revealed that, particularly in
2016, the inventory accounted for 90% of the current assets. Therefore, the company must improve
its working capital to meet its near term current liabilities.
The cash conversion cycle is a result of time taken by the company for their collection from
receivables (average collection period) and time needed to convert material into goods (day
inventory held) after subtracting the time taken to pay its current obligation (day payable
outstanding). The average collection period of account receivable and the day inventory held ratio
improved in 2016 after rose to the highest days in 2014, which

Conflict And Social Behavior Perspective
Introduction This paper will show how conflict and social behavior perspective play an important
role in Dasani s life (Hutchinson, 2015). The reader will have a better understanding of the
perspective through examples in Dasani s life. This paper will conclude with a reflection of the
writer s future profession in the social work field.
Conflict Perspective Defined Conflict perspective is seen through the lens of someone who has
power and seeks to oppress people with less power, sometime through discrimination or control
(Hutchinson, 2015). Individuals who are not in the social work field would automatically assume
that the conflict involves a dispute between two individuals. An issue with conflict perspective is
that it has the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within this perspective, there are three theories that describe different ways in which learning
occurs; classical conditioning theory, operant conditioning theory, and cognitive social learning
theory (Hutchinson, 2015). Classical conditioning is often associated with physiologist Ivan Pavlov
s experiment with the salivating dog (Hutchinson, 2015). This experiment focused on conditioning
the dog to associate food with the bell while salivating, and eventually salivates when the bell is
rung even without the presence of food. Operant conditioning theory is changed behavior as the
result of a reinforcement (Hutchinson, 2015). In our society, we associate positive reinforcements
with compliments, smiles, high fives in order to encourage a behavior more. Negative
reinforcement involves jail, detention, and grounding, and this is to stop a behavior from
continuing. A cognitive social learning theory states that behavior can be learned through
observations, beliefs, expectations, and imitation of others (Hutchinson, 2015). A major difference
between cognitive social learning theory and the others, is a lack of manipulation to encourage the
individual to follow through with a behavior. Rather, cognitive social learning theories suggest that
a change in thinking can ultimately result in a change in behavior (Hutchinson, 2015).
Dasani s conflict Perspective A reoccurring conflict throughout this case assessment is the mayor s
ignorance to the policies that he is

Without 100% deliverables on hand this could create a bullwhip in the supply chain. A bullwhip
effect is point to a lack of synchronization among supply chain members. This happens when
changes in sales ripples backward (e.g. bullwhip) because the supply patterns do not match the
demand patterns causing shortages and delays. The current supply chain used between Riordan
s China location and the local Chinese company is the responsive supply chain process. One of
the features of a responsive supply chain is that companies use a build to order and mass
customization process as a means to meet customer specification requirements. The local
Chinese company is a make to stock operation and future demands for fans are forecasted based
on previous three years sales. They use this method in hopes that previous sales history will
repeat itself without any significant changes. Implementing an agile supply chain process would
be beneficial for Riordan s China plant. Agile supply chain strategy is to be responsible and
flexible to customer needs. They are considered agile because they are responsive to change and
irregularity in demands of customers while reducing risk supply disorder on back end. The agile
supply chain combines the strengths of hedged and responsive supply

Who Is The Blind Society In Raymond Carter s Cathedral
The Blind Society in Cathedral The blind truth, society is built on social norms and those that do
not fit, standout. When one is blind, one stands out. It is human nature to judge, we judge
everyday, whether we like it or not. Robert was judged on his disability, he stood out. Cathedral
written by raymond carter, shows how blind society is with Robert as there symbol. Society
bends the visions of how we see these people that stand out. Robert is judged, but what happens in
the end is how society also tends to react. Society has built preconceptions of people that stand
out. Preconceptions of people are built off some truth, but are not always correct. The mood is set
with the first three words of the passage. The story starts This blind man... (par.1) the husband

One of the awkward encounters was the first question from the husband, Did you have a good
train ride? (par. 25) This awkward question is asked to someone who cannot see. People in today
s society, like the husband, get awkward around the unknown. If you have ever felt the awkward
feeling, then you know you do not typically want to be around it. The awkwardness is not brought
from Robert. Robert is used to the awkward, hints dropped here and there. The calm, confident and
collected attitude of Robert suggests that he has been through something like this before. The main
reason I have chosen to write about this paper is because this theme just popped out, and I
connected it to society right away. I thought of the husband and society together because I too,
have had false preconceptions. Many people should be able to connect to the husband, which is
why, to me, the story is so

Nobility In The Crucible And The Adventures Of Huckleberry...
Nobility is defined as possessing fine personal qualities, high moral principles and ideals. With
nobility also comes a sense of superiority, but this connection between the two words is sometimes
misunderstood. Some believe that nobility is gained by being superior to someone else. However,
true nobilityis obtained by, as stated by Ernest Hemingway, one being superior to his or her old
self. Our class this year has read several books and short stories, but I believe that the two books
that shows the clearest and most powerful depictions of this message are The Crucible and The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and the developments of John Proctor and Huck Finn.
John Proctor, one of the main characters in The Crucible is perfect for demonstrating how
superiority to one s old self is the key to being noble. The audience is aware of John Proctor s
cheating situation in the beginning of the play which he tries to fix while also attempting to prove
that those accused of witchcraft are innocent. He shows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

However, during Huck s journey with Jim, he learns a valuable lesson about respecting people
based on their character, despite what he was taught by Widow Douglas, Miss Watson, and Tom

him into thinking that getting lost in the fog was all a dream. However, later on in his journey,
he refuses to follow the rules of society in order to save Jim. He even says All right, then, I ll go to

Should the US Government Bail Out and Subsidize the...
1) Should the US government bail out and/or subsidize the American maritime industry? If not,
why not? If so to what extent? There is little argument among national policymakers that the
American economy was severely horsewhipped by the Great Recession of 2008, and that the
country has only recently recovered sufficiently for economists to breathe a sigh of relief that the
corner has been turned. Likewise, there is virtually no argument among national policymakers that
a healthy maritime industry is also an essential component of the American economy. Finally, there
is significant historic precedent. The U.S. government has bailed out other industries and sectors in
the past that were viewed as being too large to fail because of the potential adverse impact on the
American economy. For instance, in his editorial, Rebuilding America and Creating Jobs A Jones
Act Initiative, Munoz (2011) writes, After bailing out the auto industry with $25 billion in loans
and guarantees, the government turned around and provided another $25 billion for the industry to
retool its plants to compete on world markets. The experiment succeeded, and American cars and
trucks are now among the best in the world (2). Moreover, it is national policy to support the
maritime industry. According to Section 1, Purpose and policy of United States, 46 App. U.S.C. 861,
2002: It is necessary for the national defense and for the proper growth of its foreign and domestic

The Supply And Demand Market Essay
The supply and demand market is a way for companies to control cost and work with their
suppliers to create a supply line that provides the materials for their products; to produce their
products at a cost that will allow them to price and sell it to consumers and make a profit. In the
supply and demand market Honda started out using the fixed factory model that has allowed Honda
to go from importing motorbikes to the United States to making automobiles in the United States as
well as some of their other products. Hondas supply line started in Japan and has expanded all over
the world in almost every country in the world by making the products they sell in their different
factories. Honda motor company operates 31 different facilities in the United States alone to
manufacture their products using domestic and globally sourced parts. (world.honda.com/news
/2015) With Honda expanding their supply chain in different countries they have been able to cut
down on the importing and exporting of their products made by the Honda Motor Company. With
Honda being started in 1964 they have transitioned from not only making motorbikes to making
automobiles, all terrain vehicles, jets, lawn equipment, motor sports, and power equipment and with
the increase of products their supply chain has changed. Honda started out in Japan with one factory
making motorbikes then it progressed into a company that made automobiles in the same factory in

Rap Hop And The Hip Hop Essay
The hip hop community has gone through a number of discussions on the worth and merit of
mumble rap across well opinionated youtube videos, long winded podcasts, as well as the
vicariously living through celebrities who mimic the style, technique and overall aesthetic of
artists associated with the mumble rap genre. Let s say, for the most part, the hip hop
community has a problem with mumble rap. For the most part, it makes sense. Humans are
prone to resist change, especially as overt as mumble rap has been as a definitive genre for the
past few years. Many in the public sphere, like Youtube Personality B Doe, have smeared it s
name and aesthetic with very little counter argument arisen or given the proper attention or
discussion, especially if the defense is coming from the artists themselves or fans of that artist. It
becomes a worrisome look for some long term hip hop enthusiasts because scholars have not
brought up a defense for mumble rap. Where are the scholars defending mumble rap? Why are
they yet to defend mumble rap? Simply put, they already have. Long before the formation of
mumble rap, the hip hop genre s style, technical analysis, lifestyle, and other aspects associated
with hip hop, have included mumble rap in conjunction with other forms of hip hop. Scholars as
well as pioneers of rap and hip hop have left open the birth of other forms of hip hop. Even if some
enthusiasts claim that pioneers of hip hop would dismiss mumble rap, multiple interviews

The Importance Of Professional Development
Engaging teachers in a learning community, fosters professional growth by developing relationships
among peers (Schramm, 2006). Learning communities provide professional development that is
implemented to improve the learning of students and professionalism of teachers. Teachers within
learning communities are organized in order to collaborate on addressing goals that are aligned
with expected school and district outcomes. Effective leadership is a key factor in effective
implementation of professional development within a school (Schramm, 2006). In order to
maximize the benefits of professional development opportunities, school leaders need to provide
staff development that is focused on improving the learning of students. Focused professional
development requires skillful school leaders who are knowledgeable and capable of guiding
teachers and the school in continuous instructional improvement. Providing teachers with access to
resources that support the strategies learned during professional development is imperative for
effective implementation (Schramm, 2006). Increasing teacher exposure to educational resources,
benefits both the teacher and the student. However, in order for resources to adequately meet the
need of the teacher and student, professional development must be provided on effective use and
implementation. Professional development that provides teachers with the tools and knowledge to
effectively use data is necessary for improving student outcomes

St. Thomas Aquinas On The Existence Of God
St. Thomas Aquinas is considered to be one of the greatest minds of the western world as well as
one of the greatest theologians. In his work Summa Theologica, which he revised many times over
the course of his life, he explored the existence of God, and there are essentially five ways in which
St. Thomas Aquinasargues the existenceof God. The first way is the argument from change, the
second way is the argument from causation, the third argument is the argument from possibility and
necessity, or the reductio argument, the fourth way is the argument from gradation of being, and
the fifth way is the argument from harmony. These arguments for the existence of God are
presented in his work Summa Theologica. In regards to the first argument, Aquinas states that our
senses prove that things are in motion. From there, potential motion becomes actual motion, and
this actual motion can turn potential motion into actual motion. The example Aquinas uses is, Thus
that which is actually hot, as fire, makes wood, which is potentially hot, to be actually hot, and
thereby moves and changes it. Because of these arguments made by Aquinas, he says that nothing
can be moved by itself because if something is both in actuality and potentially at the same time,
then they have to be actual in one way but potential in a different way. Additionally, going back to
the wood example, For what is actually hot cannot simultaneously be potentially hot; but it is
simultaneously potentially cold.

Not Making Mistakes During The Revolutionary War
If you re not making mistakes, then you re not doing anything. I m positive that a doer makes
mistakes. I agree with this statement, because everyone makes a mistake at least once in their life.
All a mistake does is show that you are human. What matters is what you do with your mistake.
Throughout history, great people made mistakes. During the Revolutionary War, George
Washington made many mistakes and suffered many losses as the commander of the Continental
Army, but he still persevered nevertheless. He learned from his mistakes and defeated the British
army. Yes, one of the most famous men in history made mistakes, but instead of letting that hinder
him, he learned from them. Later, the ineffective Articles of Confederation almost collapsed

The kingdom was ruled by King Alejandro and his wife, Queen Carmen. In this world, it was possible to transfer magic but doing so was very dangerous. Once the magic of someone s body had disappeared, they would disappear too. To find someone to transfer the magicwillingly was the only problem for Alejandro and Carmen, though. They did not care about what would happen to the people they stole the magic from. The king and queen were not strong enough and did not know of many other people that were. Therefore, they could not transfer the magic. Even if they had found someone willing to do it, the price to have the magic restored was hefty. But still, they claimed they would do anything for the magic of their residents.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Give us the power of the whole kingdom, they demanded. The sorceress though did hesitate at first, claiming that once the magic was taken, they would have to face the consequences until they found someone new to give it back. But even when they had all the magic they wished for, King Alejandro and Queen Carmen were still not satisfied. For, magic was only used for two things, to give or to take. But with no people to take from and no people to give to, the kingdom grew boring and still. Carmen and Alejandro sat on their thrones waiting for their servants. They rang the bells and hollered their names, but nothing happened. It was then when they finally realized what they had done. Not only were their friends and family gone, but their servants were too. The two grew sad and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Media Misogyny Moral Panic Analysis Media misogyny, moral panic, and the production of fear all sit at the intersection of crime, media, and culture. Fear is produced, which strengthens panic, while the pervasive nature of misogyny affects society as a whole. Media Misogyny Continuing on the discussion of themes from the textbook, female killers are seen as novel because the media and psychoanalytic perspectives that are pervasive, despite evidence to the contrary of their validity, frame women in a certain way; simple, weak, kind, mothers, wives So when a case emerges with a woman acting counter to these stereotypes, the media seemingly has two reactions. One is to treat this woman as a victim. The other, to treat her like the cruelest, the lowest, of monsters. That is media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. How To Write A Reflective Essay On Theodore Roosevelt s... I was nearly finished with my day at work. I had written a journalistic piece comparing Teddy Roosevelt s presidency with Donald Trumps that would be published sometime next week in the newspaper. I wouldn t say that I loved my job, but I was good at it. Writing for the Chicago Tribune was one of my biggest dreams in college. I made the big move to the city to achieve it. Now that I ve accomplished it, it is not as rewarding as I thought it would be. My boss had yet to give me a writing assignment I was passionate about. The content was incredibly bland; politics are not my style. I wrote the final sentence of my article then clicked my laptop shut. As I looked out the window of my office building, I realized it had begun to rain. The soft ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course Carter has his own set of keys to our place, but bolting the door behind me gave me a deep satisfaction that I unfortunately knew wouldn t last much longer. With the dead bolt, he may be able to unlock the door, but he wouldn t be able to get in. I flipped the light switch, illuminating the entire apartment in a yellow glow. This made me feel even more at ease. I was finally out of the looming darkness of the night. With the artificial light, I was now haunted by the many pictures I kept of Carter all around the room. There was one hanging right in the entry way, encased in a black frame. We were flaunting huge smiles, as this was the first day of our honeymoon. We had chosen to go to Colorado because of our shared love for the expanse of a snowy mountain range rather than a beach where the sands are so hot they burn the toes. I saw the mountains in the background of this picture, but they were not nearly as beautiful as they are in person. As is the case with any photograph of nature. A strong, pounding knock at the door brought me out of my thoughts of snowy mountain caps and back to my hellacious present. I heard Carter s voice muffled on the other side, Mia! I can explain he repeated over and over, getting louder each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people have argued if it was actually love that they were experiencing, or if it was just a physical attraction. The article, Love At First Sight by Elizabeth Bernstein, provides facts that prove Romeo and Juliet were not in love, but experiencing strong infatuation with each other. Both Romeo and Juliet were experiencing some sort of heartbreak at the time of their meeting, causing them to have poor and quick judgement. Romeo had just loved another girl, Rosaline, only moments before seeing Juliet and deciding that he had loved her instantly. According to the article, Loveat first sight is a phenomenon that 15% of people have reported experiencing it. They described it as a once in a lifetime situation. It seems impossible that Romeo had experienced this with two girls within a few days. As for Juliet, she is only 13 years old. Many studies have found that children can not love somebody romantically until they have hit puberty. She shows her immaturity towards the beginning of the book, when the nurse is speaking to her and she gets extremely embarrassed. While she does mature throughout the play, her maturity level at when she first met Romeo was no where near where it would have to be to fall inlove. According to the article, three factors are present when you fall in love: Studies have found: You have to like the other person s physical appearance; you have to find his or her personality desirable, and you have to feel the other person likes you The teens had declared their love for each other within 3 hours of meeting. All they knew at the time was that they found each other attractive. • 8. Out Stealing Horses Analysis In the novel, Out Stealing Horses by Per Petterson, a 67 year old man named Trond who lives in solitude in Norway reflects back on the summer of 1948 where several significant events changed his life. It follows his progression of growing up and starting to understand more about the people and surroundings that revolve around his life and how they ve shaped him into becoming a mature and wise man. Eventually, he realizes the truth that growing up is inevitable and accepts the fact that things will never be the same again. In Out Stealing Horses, Petterson uses the motif and imagery of water to show how Trond s familiarity and interactions with the river reflects his gradual process of maturing from a innocent boyinto a stronger man. As a young boy, Trond s interactions with water illustrates his innocence, showing his youthful behavior and preservation of innocence. Growing up, water has played a huge role in Trond s life; He would often go out, fishing for trout in the river (15) or riding logs down the river (15). These activities that Trond engages in reflects Trond s close bond with the river and how it brought out his adventurous and youthful behavior. The dynamic environment of the river and the never ending flow of water is symbolic of Trond s constant energetic youth. As a kid, Trond was always outside admiring the beauty of nature or out stealing horses, and the river provided him the opportunity to do that. In order to go out stealing horses, Trond had to row across the river (32), in which the river acted as the path or gateway that led Trond to his next adventure. In addition, the river also represents Trond s reluctance to change or grow out of his childhood. Trond recalls, I could immerse myself in water up to my chin and remain the person I was (101). This highlights the idea that the river is a comfort zone in which Trond is able to submerge himself in and stay youthful. Trond doesn t want to grow out of his childhood and the river protects his innocence. Even with the current pounding away and pulling at his body, (101) Trond felt untouched and remained the same person. This shows how the river maintains Trond s growth into a man and it serves to show that Trond is the anchor of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cerebrum: The cerebrum is the main part of the brain, which has two halves, or hemispheres. The right hemisphere controls the left side of the body and deals with things such as creativity, music, and art. While the left hemisphere of the cerebrum controls the right side of the body and is in charge of language, problem solving, and math. The cerebrum s many tasks are carried out by its outer layer, or its cortex. This has distinct areas that have different roles. Motor areas trigger movement; sensory areas deal with the senses, while association areas clarify information. Cerebellum: The cerebellum is responsible for producing smooth, coordinated movements of the body. It analyzes incoming information about the body s current movement and position then interacts with the primary motor cortex to precisely time muscle contractions. Why does writing something down help us remember it better? Our brain is separated into several regions that undergo different kind of information. Then there are regions that process information such as visual, verbal communication, auditory, emotions, etc. These different regions communicate with each other and each one of them has its own processes it has to complete first. For example one looks at a piece of art and express their emotions with language, thus working the verbal function part of the brain. The time period after September 11 in which the comic was devised and then published was the beginning of a very invasive media presence. The way in which the media dramatized its information, and bombard its audience with it, made it very hard for one to distinguish between the facts of events, and the images the media would present us with. This is very much evident in Art s somewhat satirical and cynical representation of the media. Another theme that is prevalent throughout his work, is the idea that the government s ideas and policies were heavily engrained into the American media. The mid Tudor crisis is a term often used by historians to describe the reigns of Edward VI (1547 1553) and Mary I (1553 1558). This period can be seen as a crisis, due to the fact that there were so many problems financially, socially, religiously and constitutionally, which led to rebellions, and placed the country in a very unstable position. It is clear that many of the origins of this crisis have their roots in the reign of Henry VIII. He left a very difficult legacy to his successors, but it must be remembered that Somerset provoked the problems already in existence and Northumberland and Mary I then had the difficult task of resolving them.... There was also, as Guy perceives a shift towards national finance . Although the period 1552 8 is still described as a crisis, it must be remembered that there were some productive reforms and that the situation did not decline. Historians such as Pollard who see government as sterile, impotent and unproductive at this time do not seem to have taken into account these positive financial developments. It is evident that Henry was at the root of the financial problems and that Somerset exacerbated them. However the positive achievements of Northumberland and Mary must not be forgotten. Somerset lacked charm and made enemies easily. His arrogance and pride created resentment. He was a weak administrator who refused to listen to the experts. The crisis came for Somerset, in 1559 when he failed to deal decisively with rebellions in the west and in Norfolk (which had been partly caused by his own policies). But a new set of prisoners comes in and changes everything. Makar Semyonich has just been convicted of a crime when he comes and asks to hear Aksionov s story of how he got there as well. After he explains that he was wrongfully accused Makar laughs saying he is dumb for not catching the other man in the act, how would he put the knife in the bag without him knowing? We are told, When Aksionov heard these words, he felt sure this was the man who had killed the merchant. (Tolstoy 7). This strikes a nerve with Aksionov and eventually, Aksionov gets Makar to confess the crime to him. But that does not change the fact that he is locked up. So he decides to forgive Makar. He says, God will forgive you! said he. Maybe I am a hundred times worse than you. And at these words his heart grew light, (Tolstoy 10). This shows us that when he offered forgiveness it set him free. He no longer felt depressed and alone in the prison. This shows us how his forgiveness had the same effect as releasing him from prison. His forgiveness symbolizes his freedom. Since Makar told the truth, Aksionov was able to be freed from his guilt and shame, showing how the truth and forgiveness can set you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This ideology is made evident in the book, The Code of the Street, by Elijah Anderson. Anderson dissects and exposes the various issues dealing with families in urban minority communities. These families are labeled as street and decent . The connotation of the term code of the street is a set of accepted and understood set of rules in which street and decent families abide by in order to function in modern day street society. We didn t want the war, the others say the same thing and yet half the world is in it all the same. (206) Erich Remarque describes how war is an odd sort of happening through Albert Kropp, one of the most intelligent young men of Paul BГ¤umer s company. Remarque, himself a German World War 1 veteran, uses the characters of Paul s company to channel his frustrations from his experiences during the war. The vivid imagery used to describe bombardments and life at the front allows the reader to visualize the reality of warfare. It s bloody, messy, and repulsive. Extreme detail aids Remarque in exposing the atrocities of war, and its repercussions. All Quiet on the Western Frontfocuses on an anti war theme, and how war itself has no purpose other than to be savage and wasteful. Some aspects of the novel serve as symbol for important things Remarque would like the audience to note. Kemmerich s boots are the most prominent example. The soft leather boots are passed down from man to man after one dies, and it isn t thought of in depth. Kemmerich takes them from a deceased airman, and after he dies, MГјller is the owner. There is now substantial evidence that human activity is causing global warming because of our large emissions of greenhouse gases. For instance, atmospheric carbon dioxide currently measures at three hundred and ninety seven parts per million, which is the highest it has been for at least the past one million years (National Research Council of the National Academies). Also, scientific data shows that Earth s average surface temperature has increased more than 1.7 Fahrenheit over the past one hundred years (National Research Council of the National Academies). The evidence is unequivocal that our activities are the main culprit to the disruption of the climate system. In 2013, the top four emitters of carbon dioxidetotaled to fifty eight percent of entire global emissions (Loiseau). Among these four, China is the largest, accounting for twenty eight percent (Loiseau). The United States accounted for fourteen percent; The EU accounted for ten percent; And India accounted for seven percent (Loiseau). Specifically, China s total annual carbon dioxide emissions amounted to a massive 8.3 billion metric tons while the United States emitted 5.4 billion metric tons annually (Loiseau). Moreover, comparing zero interest bearing liability in 2014 with 41 million in 2015, the current liability was increased from 30 million to 72 million. It also explained why current ratio was declined from 3.04 in 2014 to 0.88 and 0.73 in 2015 and 2016 separately. The quick ratio is a more rigorous test for the company s ability to meet its short term debts than current ratio because inventory was eliminated from current assets. The quick ratio for PPL indicates serious issues as it has decreased from 0.31 in 2012 to 0.07 in 2016. The low quick ratio implies that a considerable portion of the current assets of the company is tied up as part of its inventory (Bragg, 2007), which means that the lower level of quick liquidity ratio indicates a high level of financial risk. The balance sheet for PPL (PPL, 2016) revealed that, particularly in 2016, the inventory accounted for 90% of the current assets. Therefore, the company must improve its working capital to meet its near term current liabilities. The cash conversion cycle is a result of time taken by the company for their collection from receivables (average collection period) and time needed to convert material into goods (day inventory held) after subtracting the time taken to pay its current obligation (day payable outstanding). Within this perspective, there are three theories that describe different ways in which learning occurs; classical conditioning theory, operant conditioning theory, and cognitive social learning theory (Hutchinson, 2015). Classical conditioning is often associated with physiologist Ivan Pavlov s experiment with the salivating dog (Hutchinson, 2015). This experiment focused on conditioning the dog to associate food with the bell while salivating, and eventually salivates when the bell is rung even without the presence of food. Operant conditioning theory is changed behavior as the result of a reinforcement (Hutchinson, 2015). In our society, we associate positive reinforcements with compliments, smiles, high fives in order to encourage a behavior more. Negative reinforcement involves jail, detention, and grounding, and this is to stop a behavior from continuing. A cognitive social learning theory states that behavior can be learned through observations, beliefs, expectations, and imitation of others (Hutchinson, 2015). A major difference between cognitive social learning theory and the others, is a lack of manipulation to encourage the individual to follow through with a behavior. Rather, cognitive social learning theories suggest that a change in thinking can ultimately result in a change in behavior (Hutchinson, 2015). There is little argument among national policymakers that the American economy was severely horsewhipped by the Great Recession of 2008, and that the country has only recently recovered sufficiently for economists to breathe a sigh of relief that the corner has been turned. Likewise, there is virtually no argument among national policymakers that a healthy maritime industry is also an essential component of the American economy. Finally, there is significant historic precedent. The U.S. government has bailed out other industries and sectors in the past that were viewed as being too large to fail because of the potential adverse impact on the American economy. For instance, in his editorial, Rebuilding America and Creating Jobs A Jones Act Initiative, Munoz (2011) writes, After bailing out the auto industry with $25 billion in loans and guarantees, the government turned around and provided another $25 billion for the industry to retool its plants to compete on world markets. The experiment succeeded, and American cars and trucks are now among the best in the world (2). Moreover, it is national policy to support the maritime industry. According to Section 1, Purpose and policy of United States, 46 App. U.S.C. 861, 2002: It is necessary for the national defense and for the proper growth of its foreign and domestic commerce that the ... • 51. Rap Hop And The Hip Hop Essay The hip hop community has gone through a number of discussions on the worth and merit of mumble rap across well opinionated youtube videos, long winded podcasts, as well as the vicariously living through celebrities who mimic the style, technique and overall aesthetic of artists associated with the mumble rap genre. Let s say, for the most part, the hip hop community has a problem with mumble rap. For the most part, it makes sense. Humans are prone to resist change, especially as overt as mumble rap has been as a definitive genre for the past few years. Many in the public sphere, like Youtube Personality B Doe, have smeared it s name and aesthetic with very little counter argument arisen or given the proper attention or discussion, especially if the defense is coming from the artists themselves or fans of that artist. It becomes a worrisome look for some long term hip hop enthusiasts because scholars have not brought up a defense for mumble rap. Where are the scholars defending mumble rap? Why are they yet to defend mumble rap? Simply put, they already have. Long before the formation of mumble rap, the hip hop genre s style, technical analysis, lifestyle, and other aspects associated with hip hop, have included mumble rap in conjunction with other forms of hip hop. Scholars as well as pioneers of rap and hip hop have left open the birth of other forms of hip hop. Even if some enthusiasts claim that pioneers of hip hop would dismiss mumble rap, multiple interviews ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. St. Thomas Aquinas On The Existence Of God St. Thomas Aquinas is considered to be one of the greatest minds of the western world as well as one of the greatest theologians. In his work Summa Theologica, which he revised many times over the course of his life, he explored the existence of God, and there are essentially five ways in which St. Thomas Aquinasargues the existenceof God. The first way is the argument from change, the second way is the argument from causation, the third argument is the argument from possibility and necessity, or the reductio argument, the fourth way is the argument from gradation of being, and the fifth way is the argument from harmony. These arguments for the existence of God are presented in his work Summa Theologica. In regards to the first argument, Aquinas states that our senses prove that things are in motion. From there, potential motion becomes actual motion, and this actual motion can turn potential motion into actual motion. The example Aquinas uses is, Thus that which is actually hot, as fire, makes wood, which is potentially hot, to be actually hot, and thereby moves and changes it. Because of these arguments made by Aquinas, he says that nothing can be moved by itself because if something is both in actuality and potentially at the same time, then they have to be actual in one way but potential in a different way. Additionally, going back to the wood example, For what is actually hot cannot simultaneously be potentially hot; but it is simultaneously potentially cold. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Not Making Mistakes During The Revolutionary War If you re not making mistakes, then you re not doing anything. I m positive that a doer makes mistakes. I agree with this statement, because everyone makes a mistake at least once in their life. All a mistake does is show that you are human. What matters is what you do with your mistake. Throughout history, great people made mistakes. During the Revolutionary War, George Washington made many mistakes and suffered many losses as the commander of the Continental Army, but he still persevered nevertheless. He learned from his mistakes and defeated the British army. Yes, one of the most famous men in history made mistakes, but instead of letting that hinder him, he learned from them. Later, the ineffective Articles of Confederation almost collapsed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
