Rice Supplement Essays
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Rice Supplement Essays" can present its own set of
challenges. First and foremost, it requires a comprehensive understanding of the specific
requirements outlined by the university. Researching and incorporating relevant information
about Rice University, its values, and unique offerings is crucial to tailor the essay effectively.
Moreover, expressing your thoughts coherently and creatively while adhering to any specified

small feat. The competition for admission to prestigious universities often means that applicants
need to find a unique angle or personal story that sets them apart.
Writing about oneself and one's aspirations can be introspective and challenging. Balancing
humility with self-assuredness, demonstrating genuine enthusiasm without sounding clichГ©d,
and effectively weaving a narrative that captures the attention of the admissions committee
require careful thought and revision.

Bronchitis
Selma HasicMidtermDr.BanksBRONCHITIS Bronchitis is the inflammation of the
mucous membranes of the bronchi, the airways that carry airflow from the trachea
into the lungs. The thin mucus lining of these airways can become irritated and
swollen; the cells that make up the lining may leak fluids in response to the
inflammation. Bronchitis most often occurs during the cold and flu season usually
coupled with an upper respiratory infection. Bronchitis can be divided into two
categories: acute or chronic each of which has distinct etiologies, pathologies, and
therapies. I chose this condition because it seemed like an interesting topic to
research on, and I am also interested in learning more... Show more content on

Bronchitis usually results from a viral infection, so antibiotics aren t effective but
your doctor may prescribe an antibiotic if he or she suspects that you have a
bacterial infection. If there is a chronic lung disorder involved or if you smoke, our
doctor may also prescribe antibiotics to reduce your risk of a serious secondary
infection. Cough medic ine suppress a cough that brings up mucus because coughing
helps remove irritants form your lungs and air passages. Over the counter medicine
may help if your cough keeps you from sleeping. If you have COPD, your doctor may
recommend an inhaler and other medications to reduce inflammation and open
narrowed passages in your lungs. Some side affects of traditional treatment for
bronchitis are: shortness of breath, rash, hives, itching, swelling of lips, face, or
tounge, and in more severe cases fainting. Although research on the use of alternative
medicine in bronchitis treatment is limited, there are some remedies which may be
helpful in soothing symptoms: 1) Slippery Elm helps relieve sore throat and cough
associated with bronchitis. The herb contains mucilage, a gel like substance thought
to calm irritated or inflamed tissue. 2) Pelargronium Sidoides extracts of the
Pelargonium Sidoides plant have long been used in traditional South African
medicine to treat respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis.

They find a rabbit named Cowslip who leads them to his home warren that seems
like paradise, but there are odd things about this warren. Fiver tells the other
rabbits, no predators and lots of food, they find out that a farmer is keeping this
warren safe just so he can trap and kill a few rabbits now and then. Bigwig gets

Factors that Affected the Outcome of World War Two Essay
Factors that Affected the Outcome of World War Two
There were many factors that affected the outcome of World War Two. Some of these
were how many tanks you had, how powerful your tanks were, and how well they
were built. The Allies had the most tanks in the war and this was one of the main
things that helped them win. The Germans had the most powerful tanks in the war,
but the allies out numbered them. The Allies using light and medium tanks in big
groups against the Germans powerful tanks was the main thing that helped them win
World War Two.
During World War Two there were many different types of tanks. They were put into
categories depending on weight and armament. There were four main categories of
tanks: heavy tanks, medium ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This led to American tanks being very maneuverable and mechanically reliable, but
there was hardly enough gun power and usually not enough protection. The Soviet
designers put firepower first, and made protection and mobility equal in second. Their
tanks always had good guns, enough protection, and they were fast, but they were not
as reliable as the designers wanted. The British designers put protection first, mobility
second, and firepower third. This led to some failures. By putting firepower last the
guns on the British tanks weren t powerful enough to harm German tanks.
The Germans had the most powerful tank force out of all the countries fighting in
World War Two. Their tank force was composed in 1939 and had 3,195 vehicles in
all. During World War Two the Germans used the Blitzkrieg or lightning strategy,
which was very effective. They also put all their tanks into panzer divisions. These
panzer divisions were a big success during the first two years of the war. Other
countries came up with formations similar to the panzer divisions. This led to a
drastic increase in tank production for the Germans. Starting in 1942 they rearmed all
of their tanks.
They made them bigger, heavier, have more armor, and they added bigger guns. The
main tanks that they upgraded were the Pz. IV and the Tiger Tank. They also
introduced the Panther medium tank around this time. The Panther medium
Portrayal of the Effects of September 11th on a Muslim...
In this essay, I will be discussing how the director, Kenneth Glenaan, portrays the
effects of the September 11th attack as they impact upon the Muslim community of
keighley in the drama Yasmin. The drama Yasmin is about the life of a Muslim
woman caught up in the racist backlash of September 11th and about a Muslim
community in northern England dealing with Islamaphobia after the September 11th
attack. Kenneth Glenaan has chosen to show the impact of the Muslim community in
keighley through individual representatives and key groups, therefore I will be
looking at three individuals which are Yasmin, her brother Nasar and her dad and a

The reason she gives to him to hold back on their so called relationship is because
things are not right at home once they are sorted, their relationship can develop. We
do not see anything physical happen all we see is an attraction between them. Long
shots are used to suggest there is no romance between he two. John cares deeply
about Yasmin and the fact that she is Asian and a Muslim does not bother him at that
point. Yasmin attends the pub regularly but does not drink as in the drama whenever
she is in the pub she is shown pouring her drink away without anyone noticing. She
does this to mix in with her non Muslim friends. When we see Yasmin meeting up
with John she tends to do this outside the town so no one can notice her.
When Yasmin is shown in the drama at home, the director always shows what she
is doing rather than showing her, she is almost defined by the domestic chores she
does. We see her wearing traditional Asian clothes. Yasmin is like the surrogate
mother or surrogate wife if you like to the father and Nasar because the mother is no
longer there. She has been bought up in quite an orthodox environment but is trying
to fight against that to some degree. She has been forced into an arranged marriage
in which she is deeply unhappy with but has had to give in to because of

Abstract
EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT LEVELS OF T.V VIOLENCE ON AGGRESSION:
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of different levels of television
violence on grade school children. Since some studies show that younger children
are more prone to aggression than older children. This study is designed to show
how violence plays a role in aggression. The intention is to show that violence causes
different aggression levels between males and females. The second purpose of this
study is to show if there are any significant differences between males and females
and aggression induced by violence. The information on gender difference and
aggression is controversial. All the children were mixed in this experiment combined

The United Sates is the clear leader among modern, stable democratic nations in its
rates of homicides, assault, rape, and robbery, and it is among the highest in
incidents of group violence and assassinations. This high level of violence is
dangerous to our society. It is disfiguring out society making fortresses of portions of
our cities and dividing our people into armed camps. It is jeopardizing to some of our
most precious institutions; among them our schools and universities poisoning the
spirit of trust and cooperation that is essential to their proper functioning.
In the past years until now, violence among children has increased dramatically.
Cases have been reported where grade school students take guns and other weapons
to school and use them against their teachers and classmates. Things of that sort are
very much a reality for schools around the country. Is the reason for these acts of
violence that children are becoming more aggressive at younger ages? Does, the
media have to do something with the increase in violence of young children, the fact
that the media has more violence in it than any other point in history? It could be a
combination of things, including work, single parents, peer pressures, etc. The true
concern is that the media entertains children with violent shows, which are aimed at
them. Some networks agreed to place advisories warning before and the prime time
television programs which they determined
The Lady Of Shalott, By William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare s play Hamlet, has become a staple in contemporary society.
Apart from the multitude of ingenious in this play, the character of Ophelia
particularly places great importance on modern day woman. Ophelia s importance
throughout the play has been many times viewed as only her relation to Hamletand
the effect she has on him. Ophelia is important not just in this sense, but in respect of
what she tells the reader about the society she lived in, in contrast to the society one
lives in today. AlfredLord Tennyson s poem The Lady of Shalott, parallels closely
to the life of Ophelia. Tennyson s poem written over 200 years after Hamlet, is
about a young woman who lives on an island off the coast of Camelot. There is a

Ophelia is the most one sided yet consistent out of all the vital characters in Hamlet.
She has great potential to be a tragic heroine and overcome the misfortunes forced
upon her but instead, she slowly diminishes into insanity following Hamlet s
contradictory treatment towards her, and murder of her father: She speaks much
of her father, says she hears there s tricks i th world, and hems, and beats her heart,
(Shakespeare, Hamlet, 4.5. 4 5). Ophelia is a young woman, with no womanly
guidance to aid her. Her father Polonius, and brother Laertes, care for Ophelia and
go to great lengths to preserve her innocence. Her loyalty to her father and brother is
out of pure gratitude and appreciation for their concern. She obeys her father and
brother s command not to see or accept any letters from Hamlet, despite her love for
him:
Polonius: This is for all: I would not, in plain terms, from this time forth, have you
so slander any moment leisure, as to give words or talk with the Lord Hamlet. Look
to t, I charge you (1.3.131 135)
Ophelia: I shall obey, my lord . (1.3.136)
Polonius believes he knows what is best for Ophelia, and it is his ego that initiates
her antic disposition. Polonius is convinced, Hamlet s madness is due to Ophelia
breaking ties with him. This theory is what drives Polonius to concern the king,
Claudius, and use Ophelia as a pawn to get to the bottom of Hamlet s madness.
Hamlet unravels their plan, and when encountered with
Dehumanization Of Women
The emotional, sexual, and psychological stereotyping begins when the doctor
says, It s a girl . said Shirley Chisholm. Women in who are born into patriarchal
societies face unimaginable struggles and horrors everyday. The article Forced
Prostitution tells the reader about the struggle Indian women face everyday in their
patriarchal society. They are raped and dehumanized on a regular basis because of
the way their society works. Much in the same way Lakshmi from Patricia
McCormick s novel Sold, about sex trafficking in Nepal, is dehumanized. She is sold
to a prostitutionring in India by her stepfather, who can no longer provide enough
money for food, shelter, and his gambling addiction. Both of these texts show that
societies where patriarchal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason for this is because a son is known to take care of the elderly parents, and
also when a couple has a daughter who is ready to be married, they must shower the
man s family with gifts. These gifts are called dowry, and every family with a son
getting married expects it. Women who can not produce a son or do something to
upset their husband are often brutally abused, and sometimes even killed. They can
be beaten, poisoned, or even set on fire. A Nova 2004 PBS documentary World in
Balance The People Paradox, tells viewers about these issues. The documentary
focuses on India and the issues with how fast their population is growing. One
reason for this is because parents will continue to produce kids until they give
birth to a son. The film says, An estimated 25,000 women are killed or brutally
abused each year over dowry and domestic disputes. Or even over failure to
produce a son. It is very clear that what these brides go through is not right. They do
not deserve to be physically abused because of something they can not even control.
These kinds of issues do not occur at all or nearly as often in non patriarchal societies
as they do in dominantly patriarchal
Tips For Improving The Value Of Your Home
Some Tips for Improving the Value of Your Home
Ever find yourself watching HGTV and going like, Wow! I didn t think of that! or
I d like to do that. Well, where there is a will, there s always a way. My husband
and I recently put the house we ve called home for the last decade up on the market,
and truth be told, we had no money stashed away somewhere for home
improvements. Regardless of how costly home improvement can be, we were
determined to pull it off on our budget. I d like to share some things that we did to
increase our home s value they are in no particular order.
Tip #1: Inspect Before Listing
This was our first home and it was brand new when we bought it. Besides the
normal wear and tear, we had pretty much taken care of it (or so we thought).
Nevertheless, we contacted a licensed home inspector and his report revealed some
things that would have messed up our listing price. For example, the few floor
squeaks that we had learned to live with, apparently were an unacceptable item on
his list. Our basement had radon gas of levels slightly higher than 4.0pCu/l, another
unacceptable condition. With this inspection, we were able to fix things that we
didn t even know were a major issue. Keep your inspection report and all the receipts
of the work done in a file in case your potential buyer wants to see proof.
Note: It is possible for an inspector to miss something crucial. You have been living in
the home, you know it better than anyone. Take time to

blues has many subgenres and influential artists. Last time, we highlighted Mamie

subgenre of electric Texas blues. According to the book All Blues Guide to the Blues,
the Electric Texas Blues has a country feel (that) is often detectable and it s more
open to outside rhythm and blues influences. ... Show more content on

Ethical Dilemma And Moral Dilemma
GNED 212 Jorawar Singh 30877727 Section 004 Date/Time of Class Wednesday
3:30 PM Part 1 Ethical/Moral Dilemma: Defination Ethical dilemma or moral
dilemma is a scenario in which a person has to make choices/decisions depending
on the situation or by keeping the net happiness in his mind. He also thinks about
the consequences of the decision he will make. In this scenario, I will be
describing an ethical dilemma that I faced when I worked with an IT firm. My
team leader was stealing from the company. He used to steal the network cable and
other networking tools from the company storage unit. I started to dig this matter
and I came to know that after stealing, he was selling that tools into local market. It
was his side business and he was earning pretty good. But one day, there was a
surprise inventory check conducted by our manager. In that report a huge amount
of losses were there. So a notice was issued to all employee regarding the inside
stealing and we were asked to give the other person name and our name would be
not disclosed. At that point of time I faced an ethical dilemma, whether to give the
name of my team leader with a fear of losing my job or whether to keep quiet and
let him steal more stuff till no one catches him. Part 2 Philosophical model: To solve
my ethical dilemma, I will be using Deontology as my philosophical model.
Deontology is a Greek word originated from Deon meaning obligation/morality or
duty. It is
Dmitri Shostakovich s Accomplishments
Dmitri Shostakovich Dmitri Shostakovich was a Russian composer. He was well
known for his string quartets, concertos, and instrumental works that he composed, as
well as for his numerous film scores, incidental theatre music, and ballets.
Shostakovich is usually regarded as the greatest symphonist in the 20th musical
achievements. However, even though Shostakovich was a famous musician, he was
not projected to have a musical gift at an early age. Born in St. Petersburg on
September 25, 1906, Dmitri Shostakovich was raised in a home where musicmaking
assumed an important place (Fay 8). Despite the musical environment, Shostakovich
s was not interested in music. According to Shostakovich himself, he didn t sneak to
the door at three in order to listen to music (Fay 9), and when he did listen to it, he
slept just as soundly as the night before (Fay 9). However, at the age of eight,... Show

After Josef Stalin s denunciated Shostakovich for his Lady Macbeth in an essay
published in Pravda, Shostakovich was transformed into a strange combination of
non person and musical public enemy number one ( Kenneth Woods Conductor ).
Under pressure to simplify his music and adapt it to classical models, he composed
the Fifth Symphony, which was a triumph against the earlier criticism. This
symphony consisted of four movements and reflected his situation as an artist who
would be judged by politics as much as by talent. The third movement of the piece is
his most moving creation. He uses the orchestra with tremendous restraint ( Kenneth
Woods Conductor ) as he does in the first movement by opening a long paragraph for
strings ( Kenneth Woods Conductor ), and slowly introducing percussion and
woodwind instruments. Then, Shostakovich begins the build up to the anguished
emotional climax of the whole symphony, which makes this symphony well known

Research Critique
The Nursing and Midwifery Council [NMC] (2008) report that all professional
nurses have a responsibility to deliver care based on current evidence, best practice
and validated research when it is available, Gomm and Davies (2000) confirm this by
stating that government and professional guidance insist that professional practice
should be based on evidence.
Nurses are the largest professional group among health care workers worldwide; they
carry out numerous interventions with patients and patient s carers. The nurse s
decisions and actions affect the lives of many people, and therefore, it is sound
knowledge that nursing practice should be based on robust evidence (Parahoo 2006).

The abstract in article A clearly states the method used, their findings and a
conclusion, and from this the reader would be able to decide if the article was
appropriate for their search, without first having to read the whole article.
The authors of article A have written a good clear background section, which clearly
states the reason for the research, and the reviewer is of the opinion that the authors
have looked at previous studies and found a gap in the knowledge, hence the need
for this research piece to be conducted. The reviewer was unsure whether this
background section was actually the literature review, as there is no reference to the
literature review further on in the paper. Burns and Grove (2005) commented that the
literature review should help to identify any gaps in the literature relating to the
problem, and suggest how those gaps might be filled, which is what the reviewer
believes the background section does.
When looking at the sample and sample size in a research article, particularly a
quantitative piece, the degree to which a sample reflects the population it was
drawn from is a decisive factor in determining the adequacy of a study (Polit and
Beck 2006). Article A used a purposive sample of 7 out of 28 Strategic Health

THE CHALLENGES OF CONDUCTING UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE IN
INDONESIA
Introduction
Indonesia is making health sector reform to all its citizens by enacting the
universal health coverage starting from January 2014. This program will be under
the agency known as Social Security Provider or Badan Penyelenggaran Jaminan
Sosial (BPJS). Every Indonesian citizen and foreigners who have lived in
Indonesia for a minimum of six months shall be a member of BPJS. This is in
accordance with the article 14 of Law BPJS. Each company must register its
workers as a member of BPJS. Each participant will be levied on BPJS dues which
is determined later. As for the poor, BPJS dues will be paid by the government
through the dues assistance. Being a participant in BPJS not only mandatory for
workers in the formal sector, but also informal workers. Informal workers are also
required to be a member of BPJS. Workers must register and pay the dues in
accordance with the desired level of benefits.
Universal health insurance is expected to start gradually in 2014 and by 2019, all
Indonesian citizens are expected to have the health insurance. Indonesian health
minister stated that BPJS will cover all kinds of diseases with the efficiency efforts.
However, conducting this program is not without challenges. Many challenges and

Mixing Methanol Lab Report
The purpose of mixing methanol and the catalyst (NaOH) is to react the two
substances to form Methoxide. The amount of Methanol used should be 20% of
the volume of the oil NaOH does not readily dissolve into Methanol. It is best to
turn on the mixer to begin agitating the Methanol and slowly pour the NaOH in.
When particles of NaOH cannot be seen, the Methoxide is ready to be added to the
oil. This can usually be achieved in 20 30 minutes Step 3: Draining of Glycerol After
the transesterification reaction, one must wait for the glycerol to settle to the bottom
of the container. This happens because Glycerol is heavier then biodiesel (Onkar

How Does The Kite Runner Show Injustice
Imagine having someone to be there for you. Imagine having someone that would
stand up for you even if that meant they got hurt in doing so. Now, imagine having
someone that did everything to please you but in the end you returned nothing. In the
story of The Kite Runner, that is exactly what had played out until one day Amir
received a phone call.
Injustice is a situation in which the rights of a person or a group of people are
ignored. Many acts of injustice are still committed across the world. Much of the
society that we live in is blind to the real world and may not notice these crimes.

Lack Of Training On Drug Disposal
Low concentrations of pharmaceuticals have been detected in the natural
environment throughout the world. They vary in composition, and can remain in the
environment for months to years. Although a portion of this pollution is from
veterinary pharmaceuticals used for the treatment of pasture animals, there is still a
significant amount of pollution that derives from pharmaceuticals found in
prescribed and over the counter medications for humans (Boxall et al., 2012). Health
care providers are responsible for adhering to the regulations that govern the disposal
and elimination of pharmaceuticals within their respective workplace. Due to the vast
amount of time spent with patients, nurses have a special role in the prevention of...

An alternative method to flushing is to mix the unwanted medications with an
undesirable substance such as coffee in a container, and place it in the trash
(McCullagh, Schim, Ortner, 2012). Mixing helps to hide and reduce the use of the
drugs from drug abusers and seekers (school nursing). The disadvantage of disposing
medications in the trash is that landfills can often times run off, and access the water
supply (Taras, Haste, Berry, Tran, Singh, 2014). In the hospital setting, most inpatient
medications go directly down the drain (Strauch, 2011). Diluting is another method
that involves adding a solution to a medication to minimize its effects.
Pharmaceuticals are dangerous to the environment, because of their ability to cause
change.
Long term care facilities and hospices are the primary sectors of the healthcare
community that contribute to environmental pollution. Hospice home care and home
health nurses have a unique part in aiding the efforts to reduce unsafe elimination
and disposal of pharmaceuticals. They provide end of life care to patients, and teach
caregivers to manage, store, and dispose medications in a safe manner (McCullagh et
al., 2012). They are also responsible for documenting the disposal of medications.
Typically, patients in these settings have frequent changes in medications, and are
usually with polypharmacy. According to Blake,

Abstract:
The essay examines evolution of popular music, experiences and how the public
understood it between 1918 and 1939. During this period, a national culture dance
was developed in England. Evolution process was marked with transformation of
popular dance forms, affordable and easily dances places and a national wide
dancing practice. Evolvement of a dance culture was instrumental in creation of a
national identity. People understood what it meant to be British. There was an
English style of ballroom dancing, thematic content such as the popular Lambeth
walk. To reduce American influence on English music, British ballroom dancers
tried to create British music free of American influence. Through adaptation of
different dancing styles, they presented what they believed to be the real British
identity. Introduction: In the words of Victor Sylvester, ballroom dancing was an
activity which could not be cut off or separated from the world; it was an activity
which was influenced by surrounding occurrences. Change in occasions such as
fashion, war music and social upheavals all played an important role in influencing

The Super Hero In Fearless By Eric Blehm
When the word hero comes to mind people usually think of some super hero that
they read about in a book or saw in a movie, but the literal definition of a hero is a
person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.
Fearless by Eric Blehm contains many examples of real life heroes. Adam Brown is
undoubtedly the main heroin Blehm s novel, but other members of the Brown family
also displayed many notable heroic qualities.
The main hero in Fearless was Adam Brown. Adam was born on February 5, 1974,
in Hot Springs, Arkansas. When he was a child, he enjoyed playing football and
spending time with his friends and family. As he grew older, Adam became friends
with the wrong crowd, and he began to make poor life choices. Fearless is the story
of how Adam overcame his demons in life and became an amazing father and a well
known hero.
Adam struggled with a drug addiction early in life. Drugs totally destroyed him, and
his relationship with his family. He was no longer the son that Larry and Janice
Brown raised. After Adam met Kelley, he started to make an effort to turn his life
around. Adam became a totally different person. He became someone that the world
could admire and look up to.
Many soldiers die every single day, and their story never gets told. The question is
what makes Adam s story so different and worth sharing. It could have something to
do with Adam s unique personality. After he turned his life around, Adam became a

Many people in these groups have compounding barriers to treatment including cost,
language obstacles, mistrust of medical intervention, stigma, and lack of access to
information. (Krieger N, Waterman PD, Chen JT, et al., 2003)
Primary community and prevention resources include the Clark County Health
Department Sexual Health Clinic and private physicians. The Sexual Health Clinic
is open to all; there is a $40 charge for STI screenings. This fee will be placed on
account if the patient does not have the funds at the time of the visit. The clinic does
not have a billing system, those with outstanding accounts will never receive a bill.
The clinic will give out prescriptions as needed for treatment. The cost of that
medication will be the responsibility of the patient. The patient that has health care
insurance can seek care in the private physician s office with no charge. Often the
needed medications are covered by health insurance.
The underlying causes of the sharp increase of STI s in Clark County include a
combination of factors, including multiple sexual partners, fewer STI prevention
campaigns and increasingly popular dating apps and websites that make casual sex
easier. The constant flow of visitors into and out of Las Vegasevery year makes
identify and notify patients of possible infections exposure impossible. According to

Seven Years War Research Paper
While studying the Seven Years war, I learned about the difficulties people faced
during that time, and it was incredible to see how Europe was shaped from this
event. Also knowing about the French and Indian war that took place in the American

main fronts. The first front in Europe, and soon expands to America as the war

After George III withdrew all aid to Prussia, it seemed as if Prussia was doomed.
The small country, yet Frederick s valiant effort, were surrounded by enemies on
all sides and were utterly defenseless. When all else had failed, the death of another

Tsar Peter III ascended to the throne, who was a great admirer of Frederick. Peter
quickly went to make peace with the Prussians and ended all Russian hostilities
towards them.
The war then moved decisively between Britain and Prussia. Frederick went and
defeated the Austrians at Burkersdorf and Reichenbach and regained all the
territory that he had lost. Britain captured Manila and Havana from Spain, and
soon after restored peace with France with the Treaty of Paris on February 10,

Draco Research Paper
I choose to discuss the constellation Draco, or The Dragon. I choose this
constellation because a dragon is perhaps my most beloved and favorite creature
of all time, magical or not. This constellation was also featured in my favorite
movie of all time, Dragonheart. Draco was just one of the constellations listed by
Ptolemy, a 2nd century astronomer and it is circumpolar, or never setting. Draco
consists of fourteen main stars, with its brightest star being y Dra. The
constellations lies near Hercules and Ursa Major, in the North. In the Greco
Roman legend, Draco was a real dragon, fought and killed by the goddess of
wisdom, war, and art, Minerva. Minerva killed the dragon and threw him into the

What is President Kennedy s U.S. balance of payment problem?
In the 1960s, the United States was experiencing the balance of payment problem
when its trade balance was in a substantial deficit, the US dollar was under an
attack and a massive amount of gold flew out of its official reserve. Such issues in
the balance of payment if exist for a long time can be a threat to the whole economy
because balance of payment closely interacts with key macroeconomic variables such
as GDP, exchange rates, interest rates and inflationrates. However, it was not an easy
task for the Kennedy government to solve the balance of payment problem as ... Show

The third option to solve balance of payment problem was to impose trade barriers
and capital control. On one hand, this would help to restrict import and capital
outflow, thereby recover the trade deficit. On the other hand, this policy was
contrary to U.S. effort to liberalize the world trade. Economic growth of the U.S and
its allies would also be affected.
All three options directly address problem of the current accounts and financial and
capital accounts. While deflation and capital control can remedy both current account
and financial and capital accounts, devaluation only has immediate impacts on the
current account. (Figure 1 bellow illustrates direct impacts of each option to these
accounts.) However, as exchange rates, interest rates, economic growth and balance
of payments are interacted, when one components of the balance of payment
improves, the other accounts will also recover. For example, when import demand
increases, demand for the dollar also increases, and therefore can prevent the outflow
of gold from official reserve. That being said, all three options can solve U.S balance
of payment problem; however, there must be cost incurred that Kennedy government
have to consider.

Compare And Contrast Ovid And Achilles
Achilles Through the stories in both Homer s Illiad and Ovid s Metamorphoses one
can see the power and the fury of Achilles, one greatest Greek warriors in the Trojan
War. In Homers Illiad, Homer illustrates the battle between Achilles Hector, who was
the Prince of Troy. In Ovid s Metamorphoses, Ovid illustrates the battle between
Achillesand Cycnus, who is the son of Neptune. In both battles, the outcome is the
same both warriors are slain by Achilles. While both stories have the same ending
with Achilles coming out victorious, they both paint very different stories of
Achilles. In one, they describe Achilles almost as human, seeking revenge with no
remorse. In the other, they show Achilles as pure rage, blinded by his own fury. By
comparing both of the battle stories, one can tell the differences both Homer and
Ovid try to express. In Homer s Illiad, Book 22, the story starts with the god Apollo
tricking Achilles, and making him run away from the battle in order to save the city
Troy. After Achilles figures this out, he makes way to complete his task at hand.
There at the Western Gate stood Hectorstanding his ground despite the attempts of

The Music Of John Cage
John Cage lived a very interesting, non traditional life that allowed him to form his
outside of the box philosophy on music that questions the very definition of music.
After exploring many different careers in the art world, he decided to compose music
and through a winding, tumultuous road, he rose to the top of the classical music
world. His life greatly influenced his music. His study of Buddhism and working
with the choreographies of Merce Cunningham allowed Cage to discover the other
side of music, silence. Cage and his philosophies not only changed music for the
better but also changed the path that all types of art for the good; without Cage s
philosophy on silence, musicians and composers would be doing their jobs differently.

Cage says that Schoenberg has had the biggest influence on his work. With Cage
being very young, he had trouble paying for the lessons from Schoenberg, so
Schoenberg cut a deal with Cage. He would tutor him for free as long as Cage
promised to devote his life to music. This is why even forty years later, Cage was
still drafting compositions, he was so grateful for Schoenberg s generosity that he
did not want to break the promise. After studying under Schoenberg for 2 years,
Cage met Xenia Kashevaroff and married her. She was a dancer and they moved to
Hollywood where Cage choreographed music for his wife s dance routines. During
this time, Cage began using irregular instruments. After teaching at UCLA and other
colleges, Cage left to go to Seattle, Washington, and become a composer.
In the 1940s, Cage and Xenia moved to New York and stayed with good friends,
but after a falling out, Cage was left homeless without any money, even after he just
had his most successful concert yet. After the rough patch in the 40s, Cage s life
started to come together after a few of Cage s compositions became very successful
in the 1950s. In 1952, Cage composed what is perceived as his most famous work 4

musicians do not play their instruments, but the sound comes from the audience. For

Franz Joseph Haydn s Music
Franz Joseph Haydn (1732 1809), is one of the eminent composers of the Classical
period. He is best known for his symphonies and string quartets, which established
standards of quality, style, content, form, and expressivity that other composers
emulated. Haydn spent most of his career serving the EsterhГЎzy family (1761 90),
which isolated him from the music world, but forced him to become original, as he
himself wrote. Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714 1788) greatly influenced Haydn.
He was fascinated by the expressive style of C. P. E. Bach, and adopted its
passionate quality. The majority of Haydn s keyboard compositions are sonatas. His
other keyboard works include piano trios, theme and variations, dances, fantasias, and

The Kent State Massacre Essay
On May 4, 1970 at approximately 12:24 PM members of the Ohio National Guard
shot at and killed several unarmed Kent State University students. These students
were protesting President Nixon s decision to invade Cambodia. While some of the
students who were shot at were actively protesting at the time of the shooting, others
were simply walking by or casually observing the protest from a distance. How could
an appalling incident like this occur? What possessed the members of the Ohio
National Guard to shoot at unarmed students? In order to fully understand the
circumstances surrounding the Kent State Massacre, it is important to back track

It is interesting to note there was a stark contrast between day and night activities in
the city of Kent. During the day, guardsmen casually patrolled and went about
business as usual. In fact, there were even reports that throughout the daytime hours
students would have long, peaceful conversations with the guardsmen. However, at
night, the violence would break out while mass protests were held, forcing the
students and guardsmen to quickly retreat to opposite sides. Once again, on the
evening of May 3, non lethal force was used and people were arrested as the
guardsmen again struggled to take control of the violence erupting in the city of Kent
Ohio. Earlier in the weekend, university officials banned all protests and assemblies
on campus. Students ignored this ruling and began congregating around eleven AM
for the scheduled twelve noon protest. When the protest began, a Kent State police
officer patrolled the campus with several guardsmen in a jeep announcing that the
protest was illegal and everyone must leave the campus immediately. In response to
this dispersion call, the students became violent, throwing rocks and attacking the
jeep. The general in charge of the guardsmen in Kent, General Canterbury, ordered
the guardsmen to arm themselves and fire tear gas in an attempt to disperse the
crowd. As the crowd of
Hills Like White Elephants Literary Devices Essay
Ernest Hemingway uses many literary devices in his short story Hills Like White
Elephants to enhance its meaning and impact. A literary device is a technique a
writer uses to enhance and produce a special effect in their writing. Literary
devices are very important because they help the reader understand a story, and it s
characters. The literary devices used to make Hills Like White Elephants a richer
and more impactful story are setting, symbolism, and irony. One important literary
device used in Hills Like White Elephants is setting. The setting is the place or type
of surroundings where something is positioned or where an event takes place. The
setting in this story is a train station overlooking the Ebro River. The significance of
the train station is that it like the relationship of these two people which is at a
crossroad. The train station also lets you know that they are the midst of traveling
somewhere. They can go one way together or go different ways without each other.
Another significant detail about the setting is the two different hills surrounding the
train station. The narrator describes the first set of hills as ... white in the sun and the

The Descent Of A Regime From A To An Oligarchy
To understand the descent of a regime from a timocracy to an oligarchy, first the
tenets of a timocracy must be understood. A timocracy first comes into being due to
human error of the guardians. The guardians are not perfect, so when choosing the
next generation of guardians to educate, they will not always choose the best
candidates. Since the current guardians will not always select the children with gold
souls, the aristocracy will eventually degenerate into a less just society. Some new
rulers will attempt to preserve the old and just ways, while the less benevolent rulers
will want private property among guardians, creating tension in the ruling class.
Eventually, this tension will be alleviated by coming to an agreement on a middle...

Men will start to pervert the laws in that direction, that direction being for profit
(550d11). Wealth is then equated to honor, and naturally things deemed honorable are
those that citizens seek to achieve. A change is made in the city s fundamental
governing doctrine; the change states that only those with a certain amount of wealth
can rule the city. This is the birth of the oligarchic regime. Only citizens of a certain
economic status have any political power. Those who have the political power
then wish to keep the power, and will abuse their lawmaking ability to oppress the
poor. Rulers will do whatever they can to keep the poor where they are, so that the
lower class cannot replace the current rulers as lawmakers. The factions of rich and
poor create a city doomed to fail.
All the problems of the oligarchy can be traced back to equating wealth to honor and
the descent from timocracy to the oligarchy itself. Socrates notes 5 distinct problems
of the oligarchy, the first being the distribution of political power. Due to the standard
of wealth required in the city, a wise, just, and virtuous man could not become a ruler
if he is poor. If a true philosopher king existed, but was poor, he could not rule the
city. This inevitably will lead to more injustice and harm done to the city, for those
who are unfit to rule are the only ones with political power. If wealth was never

The Secret River By Kate Grenville And William
Shakespeare
How has the Kate Grenville and William Shakespeare used compositional features to
express both similar and different ideas of difference and power?
The Secret River, set in England and Australia, was written by Kate Grenville in
2006. William Shakespeare s play Othello was written in 1603 and set in Venice.
Kate Grenville and William Shakespeare used compositional features to express both
similar and different ideas of difference and power. They have cohesive ideas of
power such as the use of structure and symbolism to convey power however, differ in
their structure. They both expressed race through the context of the novel, setting,
narrative perspective and imagery. However, 17th century english conveyed the idea
of difference with greater subtlety than Kate Grenville s use of modern english .
Similarly both texts contain powerful characters, however, these characters are
differently placed and different compositional features were used to portray these
ideas.
Kate Grenville and William Shakespeare expressed ideas of power through
representation of objects as well as the structure and society within the text. Both
texts express power through gender, race and class through the main characters.

the information, uses of the mental resources and skills, learning different languages

Hidden curriculum is a type of lessons that are not included in the formal curriculum
and are unintentionally taught by teachers. While the formal curriculum contains the
topics for each of the subjects and learning activities, hidden curriculum contains
lessons that students pick up by themselves. For example, from the class, a student
can learn how to write English and how to calculate Mathematics but they can also
learn values such as honesty and how to interact with their peers and how to respect
elders such as teachers. These are all included in the hidden curriculum because it is
not written in the formal curriculum to teach thus the students automatically learns
from the school surroundings. Marsh et al (2014) states that in Piaget s theory
students ...movement through these stages depends on the quality of their
environment. The right environment is important because students can trust and
understand what is right and wrong and school are and should be one of great
example of being the right environment for a student. The connection between the
Piaget s theory and the hidden curriculum is that a developing child understand and
evolve to their surrounding more quickly than adults and hidden curriculum that is
taught in the right environment can mold these knowledges to lead the child on the
right path and make strong citizen which is one of the main aims of education in a

developed a lot by working with my very talented team and learning about their
strengths and weaknesses as well. After working on multiple interesting assignments
during the L.Comm class where we had to approach different cases and come up with
a solution in a limited amount of time and present the argument in front of the class, I
overserved many of my strengths and weaknesses.
Considering that I am an international student whose first language is not English,
my biggest strength is that I have good communication and understanding skills in
English. After asking for feedback from my classmates, I was told that during the
presentations I was able to speak in clear, concise language, with an accent that was
understandable to everyone.
My second strength is that I am quickly able to develop strong arguments and
structure the discussion of the team affectively to prevent
Hedda Gabler Essay
Hedda Gabler, played by Rebecca Chanelle Holoptier, marries a history scholar by
the name of George Tesman, played by Stephen Cross. Hedda and George are
getting back from a six month honeymoon. During their six month honeymoon,
George seems to spin the majority of his time in libraries and doing research for
his book, which does not make Hedda very happy because she is not getting the
attention that she wants. Thea Elvsted, played by Maggie Lehman, an old
classmate of Hedda s comes to visit her and tell her that George s old academic
rival, Eilert Lovborg who was played by T.J. Pederson, is back in town and also

Which lead George and Mrs. Elvsted try to piece together the manuscript and as
this is happening Hedda decides to put her life to an end and ending the play.
Throughout the play several character change in one way or the other. Some of
these changes are more prevalent than others. One of the big changes in the play is
Eilert Lovborg. He had to make a big change to get to where he was at the
beginning of the play but then he losses everything again when he drifts back to
his days in a alcoholic haze. To me he is the antagonist to Hedda, which in turn is
the protagonist. Hedda is a very bitter woman who wants everything to go her way.
She goes through several changes she eventually, in her own way, tells George that
she love him and she make the ultimate change by taking her life. George s change
comes about more, as becoming more of a man and realizing there are other
people in his life. The others may have changed but their change was not a main
point of the play. One of the actors that I really enjoyed was T.J. Pederson who
played Eilert Loveborg. To me he was very convincing in his role. He makes the
change of his character very dramatic. That s what really stood out to me was when
he comes back to Hedda after the night of binging and tells Hedda that his life is
over. The other actor that I enjoyed was Rebecca Chanelle Holoptier who played the
lead role, Hedda. She made her character very real by portraying her
The Sun And Moon Are Not Present Until The Fourth Day
Given that the Sun and Moon are not present until the fourth day, how can it be
maintained that the first three days are days in the sense that we now understand
them? Our current day is delineated via the earth s rotation in relation to the Sun no
Sun, no 24 hour days. Even the passage itself says this, for it says in Gen. 1:14: Let
there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And
let them be . . . for days . It may be objected that, regardless of whether or not we had
a distant object in relation to which we might measure the progression of the earths
rotation, it nonetheless remained similar to what it is now. But this is by no means
clear, for the text itself maintains that the earth was radically and fundamentally
different at that time, being without form and void (v. 2). As such, any claim that the
earth s rotation then was similar to what it is now is based on an assumption: namely,
that in spite of the fact that the earth itself was physically different, natural processes
such as its rotation were the same then as now.
This is a rather curious claim to make, for it is one of the primary charges leveled
against those who adhere to other interpretations of the days (and correspondingly,
the age of the earth) by those with whom we are disputing. Proponents of the calendar
day interpretation frequently charge those with whom they disagree, whether secular
scientists or other believers, of assuming that natural processes in

Bridges are networking devices that can connect 2 local area networks (LAN). A
bridge can learn all of the MAC addresses on the network, and this is done during
the bridges data gathering phase. Basically a bridge will receive the data and
analyze the address. The bridge will then pass the data on to the correct address.
The ports on a bridge are in and out, but they are smart ports with the ability to
locate the address on the network. Switches are much like a bridge where they can
connect networks that use the same protocols. They are used to direct traffic over
multiple networks. Some switches will check ... Show more content on

In a small network with just file sharing a 10 Mbps NIC card would work fine, but
with 24 computers in the LA office the advantages of having the faster 10/100

would help SMPR in the future. I believe that it would make her an even greater
asset to the company if she was properly trained. Her knowledge and experience
would greater benefit this company. Karla has done a great job with the knowledge
that she posses and if she had some formal training she could be an even greater
benefit. Managing and troubleshooting a network a certain level of training that she
at the moment lacks, and that is why I believe that she would benefit from some
formal training. I would benefit in attending the seminar on fine tuning Ethernet
networks. This seminar would help increase my knowledge pool. Seminars are times
to learn new techniques and then apply to techniques to help my network run more
optimal. I believe all Techs would greatly benefit from attending these seminars for
the knowledge that they gain, and possibly from the people that they meet. Gaining
this knowledge would help me do my job better and also help keep the SMPR
network running smoothly. Ethernet is typically the technology that is used to allow
computers locally to communicate with one another. Computers that are close to
each other they are connected by Ethernet.
The Secret Of Life By Paulo Coelho
The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight. (Paulo Coelho)
No matter, how hard we try, true is success can be reached only through
determination and from the knowledge of pervious failures. Although it is true that
we need to spend a longer time by doing a task more than once, but that is how it
gives us the strength of mind to do it better next time. Each and every pathway we
take in our lives are a learning experience. Some of them are easier to cross and
others are steeper, that are able to give us a stronger confidence in our task. Now, do
we really need to go through failures and defeats to accomplish something? Many
successful worldwide have sworn that successin life cannot come without great
failures. Paulo Coelhoa successful Brazilian novelist, the recipient of numerous
international awards known for his spectacular literary work The Alchemist has a
similar idea. He was like many of us when he started writing, having the fear that it
is impossible to achieve his dream. Coelho doesn t know that whether defeats or
necessary or not, but he knows that they will happen. When we first start to fight our
dream, we have no experience and mistakes are common. After all, life is too short to
wake up with regrets and sadness.
I begin with a personal experience; my life is not like a bed of roses. Obstacles and
difficulties bound to come in my way every moment. At the same time, I am
constantly desiring for more and more success with failures

Metropolis In The Novel Narcopolis
The presentation of a degrading metropolis has become one of the important themes
for literature in recent times. And in both popular and academic literature Bombay
(present day Mumbai) is typically characterized as India s most modern city which
has a long history of transition. Much has been written about the degrading and
broken metropolis but such moments are rare indeed these days when one takes a
book in the hand and have to go through a test in the first few pages to enter into the
story of the novel. That can happen if someone started reading Jeet Thayil s debut
novel Narcopolis, published in Feb, 2012. The book opens with a hypnotic sentence

he witnesses how garad heroin destroy the culture and many people s lives in

The Automotive Sector in Italy
The Automotive Sector in Italy I.Introduction: Sector Analysis Part A: Out of all
the countries I have visited in my life, Italy is definitely my favorite. Italy is
located in southern Europe bordering countries such as France, Switzerland,
Austria, and Slovenia. With a population of over sixty million people, Italy has a
capitalist market with high GDP per capita and a well developed infrastructure.
According to the International Monetary Fund, it is the eighth largest economy in
the entire world and third biggest in Europe. After analyzing the National Institute
of Statistics (ISTAT), the GDP of Italy expanded by 10% in the fourth quarter of
last year. From 1960 2013, the GDP growth rate averaged 63% per year. Their main
industrial base is driven by producing high quality consumer goods. The main sectors
in Italy are tourism, iron and steel, machinery, textiles, food processing, shoes,
clothing (fashion), and one of the biggest being the auto sector. Italy joined the
European Union in 1952, and between then and now, their country has gone through
growth rates well above 4%. However, after 1992, Italy s expansion rates fell below
the European Union average. Ever since then, Italy s government has been trying to
revive their economy by increasing the amount of public spending. In result, the
public debt and budget deficit have attained unsustainable levels and the country has
recently gone through a tough recession. Now in 2014, Italy has actually returned to
growth after
Consider The Lobster Analysis
I was approximately 7 or 8 years old when the smell of gambling and blood was the
air, thrilling the expectations of the spectators. The ear piercing sound of a rooster
begging for mercy from his opponent. Like savages we cheered on the winner, I
found myself in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Years later, when I sit down to read,
Consider the Lobsterby David Foster Wallace, the feeling of guilt that ran through
my mind made me feel uncomfortable. the Lobster are boiled alive at these festivals
and as the author mentioned that, the lobster was moving in agony as he was trying
to get out the pot while he was boilingalive. For the people that do not care, it is not
about individual conscience but on a moral perspective. I have a simple question
to ask them, can you imagine getting into a boiling pot and boiled alive for
approximately 35 45 seconds? Because that s how long it takes the lobster to die in
the boiling pot. Animal Cruelty has to be stopped in both cockfights in Puerto Rico
and the lobsters being boiled alive in New England or at least force people... Show

Since lobsters do not have a cerebral cortex which is the part of the brain that
receives neurotransmitters signals that feel pain. However, when it comes to
cockfights, roosters have a similar nervous system to humans. For example, if you
ever seen a feather being plucked from a rooster it is a similar feeling to pulling a
hair on a human. Unlike the lobster, the rooster has a cerebral cortex and it is very
similar to humans. When humans feel intense pain, our bodies seem to react by
sending hormones such as endorphins and enkephalins. Since the lobster don t have
an advanced nervous system they are more vulnerable to pain because they have
natural opioids. Somehow, lobster do feel difference in water temperature so, why
can t they feel pain in boiling

CHAPTER 1:
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF ROTARY VANE COMPRESSOR
USING OIL SEPARATOR IN CAR A/C SYSTEM
1. INTRODUCTION
One of the primary functions of an automobile climate control system is to provide
the desired cooling and stabilize cabin temperatures to comfortable levels in hot
climatic conditions. With the increasing demand for more energy efficient systems
and thermal comfort in automobiles, the automobile AC system needs to be
optimized to deliver the required cooling performance with minimum AC power
consumption. Proper selection and integration of AC compressor with other system
aggregates results in improved energy efficiency of the system.
There are varies ideas to improve compressor efficiency .But considering
manufacturing feasibility ,design and validation lead time and cost as many of the
ideas dropped down.
Oil separator is one of the way to improve cooling efficiency of compressor in which
low investment and lead time involved.
Air conditioning compressor is an integral component for an air conditioning system;
when it begins reciprocate, lubricant will be very pivotal to protect equipment. But
when refrigerant is
Exhausted from compressor, a little of lubricating oil will be taken away from it and
will accumulate inside the compressor eventually. Therefore, an oil gas separator
need be collocated to compressor, which could separate lubricating oil from
refrigerant and then lubricating oil would flow back compressor. For the separator
construction, the
Analysis Of The Ecstasy By John Donne
Mallory Torres
Professor Patterson
English IV DC 2322 1st period
18 October 2017
The Ecstasy The poem, The Ecstasy is one of the more well known works written
by John Donne. In the poem, Donne seems to agree with the philosophy that true
love can only be available on a spiritual level and explains what the process is to get
there. The purpose of this essay is to analyze how the poem expresses the unique
ideas of love and how two people make connections through different pathways, aside
from just the physical bonds. The theme of a story can often directly relate to the title
of the text, but sometimes the true meaning of the story hides in between the lines of
the poem. Donne utilized this technique in The Ecstasy to justify the meaning of his
poem, while the text presents a slightly different idea. According to the an online
encyclopedia, the title of the poem refers not to the modern meaning of the word
ecstasy rapture or delight, especially of a sexual nature but rather to a Renaissance
era meaning that describes the movement of the soul outside of the body (Overview:
The Ecstasy). This explains the denotation that the text presents and the importance
that the title has towards Donne s theme of spiritual love. The term ecstasy, in
modern language, relates to the idea of physical excitement or satisfaction. However,
the way Donne uses it in his work is through the consideration of two souls and the
journey to true love.
The one idea that Donne uses quite often in The Ecstasy is that the eyes are a
gateway to the soul and without it, the level of spiritual love is incomplete. The
eyes are significant to the emotional connection that two people have because this
is where the first interaction is. Two people primarily meet in person and allow the
eyes to determine whether there is a shallow attraction. After the physical
examination, the eyes of the person can wander about in the lover s eyes, which can
lead the people to become more comfortable which each other and begin to share
experiences that are more personal. This first appears in the beginning of the poem
when the speaker mentions, Our eye beams twisted, and did thread, our eyes upon
one double string (lines 7 8). The speaker notes that
Philosophy Of Imago Dei
God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and
female He created them . Mankind is described as being created in the image of
likeness of God; created out of love to love and be loved. Hence, the moral
implications of the doctrine of Imago Dei suggests that if humans are to love God,
they must love one another , as each is an expression of God thus, as Gula puts it,
being adequately considered . Humans differ from other creatures, as they are self
reflective, rational and able to make moral decisions. Since we are Imago Dei, we
cannot truly understand humanity unless we refer to God. We are His own image
, so to understand who we are as beings, we must come to know God the Ultimate
Creator. Hence, God created us with the desire and capability of knowing and
loving God; Capax Dei i.e. The mind is the image of God, in that it is capable of
Him and can be partaker of Him Augustine . Christ and the Holy Spirit revealed God
to us, so we can imitate Him in order to become truly human. We are rational and free,
and thus it is up to us whether we want to become in God s likeness or not. By
accepting this invitation, we are able to communicate and build a relationship with
Him, and as we learn in eschatology, we eventually arrive and see God face to face
and be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When speaking about the concept of the uniqueness of the persons in relation to other
entities, personalists are influenced by Thomistic philosophy mentioned above. Thus,
they differentiate between the concepts of person and individual . The deep meaning
of person , as Von Balthasar wrote in On the Concept of Person , point[s] to the
individual s uniqueness [and irreplaceability] which cannot be interchanged and
therefore cannot be counted (para. 6.3). All human persons are created with dignity
and hence must be respected and treated as a person from the moment of conception

The thin mucus lining of these airways can become irritated and swollen; the cells that make up the lining may leak fluids in response to the inflammation. Bronchitis most often occurs during the cold and flu season usually coupled with an upper respiratory infection. Bronchitis can be divided into two categories: acute or chronic each of which has distinct etiologies, pathologies, and therapies. • 5. Factors that Affected the Outcome of World War Two Essay Factors that Affected the Outcome of World War Two There were many factors that affected the outcome of World War Two. Some of these were how many tanks you had, how powerful your tanks were, and how well they were built. The Allies had the most tanks in the war and this was one of the main things that helped them win. The Germans had the most powerful tanks in the war, but the allies out numbered them. The Allies using light and medium tanks in big groups against the Germans powerful tanks was the main thing that helped them win World War Two. The Soviet designers put firepower first, and made protection and mobility equal in second. Their tanks always had good guns, enough protection, and they were fast, but they were not as reliable as the designers wanted. The British designers put protection first, mobility second, and firepower third. This led to some failures. By putting firepower last the guns on the British tanks weren t powerful enough to harm German tanks. The Germans had the most powerful tank force out of all the countries fighting in World War Two. Their tank force was composed in 1939 and had 3,195 vehicles in all. During World War Two the Germans used the Blitzkrieg or lightning strategy, which was very effective. They also put all their tanks into panzer divisions. These panzer divisions were a big success during the first two years of the war. Other countries came up with formations similar to the panzer divisions. This led to a drastic increase in tank production for the Germans. Starting in 1942 they rearmed all of their tanks. They made them bigger, heavier, have more armor, and they added bigger guns. The main tanks that they upgraded were the Pz. IV and the Tiger Tank. They also introduced the Panther medium tank around this time. The Panther medium

In this essay, I will be discussing how the director, Kenneth Glenaan, portrays the effects of the September 11th attack as they impact upon the Muslim community of keighley in the drama Yasmin. The drama Yasmin is about the life of a Muslim woman caught up in the racist backlash of September 11th and about a Muslim community in northern England dealing with Islamaphobia after the September 11th attack. Kenneth Glenaan has chosen to show the impact of the Muslim community in keighley through individual representatives and key groups, therefore I will be looking at three individuals which are Yasmin, her brother Nasar and her dad and a key group which is the policeforce the way portrayed before... We do not see anything physical happen all we see is an attraction between them. Long shots are used to suggest there is no romance between he two. John cares deeply about Yasmin and the fact that she is Asian and a Muslim does not bother him at that point. Yasmin attends the pub regularly but does not drink as in the drama whenever she is in the pub she is shown pouring her drink away without anyone noticing. She does this to mix in with her non Muslim friends. When we see Yasmin meeting up with John she tends to do this outside the town so no one can notice her. When Yasmin is shown in the drama at home, the director always shows what she is doing rather than showing her, she is almost defined by the domestic chores she does. We see her wearing traditional Asian clothes. Yasmin is like the surrogate mother or surrogate wife if you like to the father and Nasar because the mother is no longer there. She has been bought up in quite an orthodox environment but is trying to fight against that to some degree. She has been forced into an arranged marriage in which she is deeply unhappy with but has had to give in to because of

It is jeopardizing to some of our most precious institutions; among them our schools and universities poisoning the spirit of trust and cooperation that is essential to their proper functioning. In the past years until now, violence among children has increased dramatically. Cases have been reported where grade school students take guns and other weapons to school and use them against their teachers and classmates. Things of that sort are very much a reality for schools around the country. Is the reason for these acts of violence that children are becoming more aggressive at younger ages? Does, the media have to do something with the increase in violence of young children, the fact that the media has more violence in it than any other point in history? It could be a combination of things, including work, single parents, peer pressures, etc. The true concern is that the media entertains children with violent shows, which are aimed at them. Apart from the multitude of ingenious in this play, the character of Ophelia particularly places great importance on modern day woman. Ophelia s importance throughout the play has been many times viewed as only her relation to Hamletand the effect she has on him. Ophelia is important not just in this sense, but in respect of what she tells the reader about the society she lived in, in contrast to the society one lives in today. Ophelia is the most one sided yet consistent out of all the vital characters in Hamlet. She has great potential to be a tragic heroine and overcome the misfortunes forced upon her but instead, she slowly diminishes into insanity following Hamlet s contradictory treatment towards her, and murder of her father: She speaks much of her father, says she hears there s tricks i th world, and hems, and beats her heart, (Shakespeare, Hamlet, 4.5. 4 5). Ophelia is a young woman, with no womanly guidance to aid her. Her father Polonius, and brother Laertes, care for Ophelia and go to great lengths to preserve her innocence. Her loyalty to her father and brother is out of pure gratitude and appreciation for their concern. She obeys her father and brother s command not to see or accept any letters from Hamlet, despite her love for him: Polonius: This is for all: I would not, in plain terms, from this time forth, have you so slander any moment leisure, as to give words or talk with the Lord Hamlet. Polonius is convinced, Hamlet s madness is due to Ophelia breaking ties with him. This theory is what drives Polonius to concern the king, Claudius, and use Ophelia as a pawn to get to the bottom of Hamlet s madness. Hamlet unravels their plan, and when encountered with

Women in who are born into patriarchal societies face unimaginable struggles and horrors everyday. The article Forced Prostitution tells the reader about the struggle Indian women face everyday in their patriarchal society. They are raped and dehumanized on a regular basis because of the way their society works. The reason for this is because a son is known to take care of the elderly parents, and also when a couple has a daughter who is ready to be married, they must shower the man s family with gifts. These gifts are called dowry, and every family with a son getting married expects it. Women who can not produce a son or do something to upset their husband are often brutally abused, and sometimes even killed. They can be beaten, poisoned, or even set on fire. A Nova 2004 PBS documentary World in Balance The People Paradox, tells viewers about these issues. The documentary focuses on India and the issues with how fast their population is growing. One reason for this is because parents will continue to produce kids until they give birth to a son. The film says, An estimated 25,000 women are killed or brutally abused each year over dowry and domestic disputes. Or even over failure to produce a son. It is very clear that what these brides go through is not right. They do not deserve to be physically abused because of something they can not even control. These kinds of issues do not occur at all or nearly as often in non patriarchal societies as they do in dominantly patriarchal

My husband and I recently put the house we ve called home for the last decade up on the market, and truth be told, we had no money stashed away somewhere for home improvements. Regardless of how costly home improvement can be, we were determined to pull it off on our budget. I d like to share some things that we did to increase our home s value they are in no particular order. Tip #1: Inspect Before Listing This was our first home and it was brand new when we bought it. Besides the normal wear and tear, we had pretty much taken care of it (or so we thought). Nevertheless, we contacted a licensed home inspector and his report revealed some things that would have messed up our listing price. For example, the few floor squeaks that we had learned to live with, apparently were an unacceptable item on his list. Our basement had radon gas of levels slightly higher than 4.0pCu/l, another unacceptable condition. With this inspection, we were able to fix things that we didn t even know were a major issue. Keep your inspection report and all the receipts of the work done in a file in case your potential buyer wants to see proof. Note: It is possible for an inspector to miss something crucial. You have been living in the home, you know it better than anyone. Take time to

We discovered that, like rock, the blues has many subgenres and influential artists. Last time, we highlighted Mamie Smith (classic blues), Willie Mabon (Chicago blues), and Dr. John (rhythm and blues). This week, we are traveling back in time to the 1980s to explore the subgenre of electric Texas blues. Ethical Dilemma And Moral Dilemma GNED 212 Jorawar Singh 30877727 Section 004 Date/Time of Class Wednesday 3:30 PM Part 1 Ethical/Moral Dilemma: Defination Ethical dilemma or moral dilemma is a scenario in which a person has to make choices/decisions depending on the situation or by keeping the net happiness in his mind. He also thinks about the consequences of the decision he will make. In this scenario, I will be describing an ethical dilemma that I faced when I worked with an IT firm. My team leader was stealing from the company. He used to steal the network cable and other networking tools from the company storage unit. I started to dig this matter and I came to know that after stealing, he was selling that tools into local market. It was his side business and he was earning pretty good. But one day, there was a surprise inventory check conducted by our manager. In that report a huge amount of losses were there. So a notice was issued to all employee regarding the inside stealing and we were asked to give the other person name and our name would be not disclosed. At that point of time I faced an ethical dilemma, whether to give the name of my team leader with a fear of losing my job or whether to keep quiet and let him steal more stuff till no one catches him. Part 2 Philosophical model: To solve my ethical dilemma, I will be using Deontology as my philosophical model. Deontology is a Greek word originated from Deon meaning obligation/morality or duty. It is

He was well known for his string quartets, concertos, and instrumental works that he composed, as well as for his numerous film scores, incidental theatre music, and ballets. Shostakovich is usually regarded as the greatest symphonist in the 20th musical achievements. However, even though Shostakovich was a famous musician, he was not projected to have a musical gift at an early age. Born in St. Petersburg on September 25, 1906, Dmitri Shostakovich was raised in a home where musicmaking assumed an important place (Fay 8). Despite the musical environment, Shostakovich s was not interested in music. This symphony consisted of four movements and reflected his situation as an artist who would be judged by politics as much as by talent. The third movement of the piece is his most moving creation. He uses the orchestra with tremendous restraint ( Kenneth Woods Conductor ) as he does in the first movement by opening a long paragraph for strings ( Kenneth Woods Conductor ), and slowly introducing percussion and woodwind instruments. Then, Shostakovich begins the build up to the anguished emotional climax of the whole symphony, which makes this symphony well known even to this

Introduction: In the words of Victor Sylvester, ballroom dancing was an activity which could not be cut off or separated from the world; it was an activity which was influenced by surrounding occurrences. Change in occasions such as fashion, war music and social upheavals all played an important role in influencing the dancing scene. He observed that external forces influenced performance as well as evolution of dancing (Sylvester, 1927). These students were protesting President Nixon s decision to invade Cambodia. While some of the students who were shot at were actively protesting at the time of the shooting, others were simply walking by or casually observing the protest from a distance. How could an appalling incident like this occur? What possessed the members of the Ohio National Guard to shoot at unarmed students? During the day, guardsmen casually patrolled and went about business as usual. In fact, there were even reports that throughout the daytime hours students would have long, peaceful conversations with the guardsmen. However, at night, the violence would break out while mass protests were held, forcing the students and guardsmen to quickly retreat to opposite sides. Once again, on the evening of May 3, non lethal force was used and people were arrested as the guardsmen again struggled to take control of the violence erupting in the city of Kent Ohio. Earlier in the weekend, university officials banned all protests and assemblies on campus. Students ignored this ruling and began congregating around eleven AM for the scheduled twelve noon protest. When the protest began, a Kent State police officer patrolled the campus with several guardsmen in a jeep announcing that the protest was illegal and everyone must leave the campus immediately. In response to this dispersion call, the students became violent, throwing rocks and attacking the jeep. The general in charge of the guardsmen in Kent, General Canterbury, ordered the guardsmen to arm themselves and fire tear gas in an attempt to disperse the crowd. As the crowd of

A literary device is a technique a writer uses to enhance and produce a special effect in their writing. Literary devices are very important because they help the reader understand a story, and it s characters. The literary devices used to make Hills Like White Elephants a richer and more impactful story are setting, symbolism, and irony. One important literary device used in Hills Like White Elephants is setting. The setting is the place or type of surroundings where something is positioned or where an event takes place. A timocracy first comes into being due to human error of the guardians. The guardians are not perfect, so when choosing the next generation of guardians to educate, they will not always choose the best candidates. Since the current guardians will not always select the children with gold souls, the aristocracy will eventually degenerate into a less just society. Some new rulers will attempt to preserve the old and just ways, while the less benevolent rulers will want private property among guardians, creating tension in the ruling class. Men will start to pervert the laws in that direction, that direction being for profit (550d11). Wealth is then equated to honor, and naturally things deemed honorable are those that citizens seek to achieve. A change is made in the city s fundamental governing doctrine; the change states that only those with a certain amount of wealth can rule the city. This is the birth of the oligarchic regime. Only citizens of a certain economic status have any political power. Those who have the political power then wish to keep the power, and will abuse their lawmaking ability to oppress the poor. Rulers will do whatever they can to keep the poor where they are, so that the lower class cannot replace the current rulers as lawmakers. The factions of rich and poor create a city doomed to fail. All the problems of the oligarchy can be traced back to equating wealth to honor and the descent from timocracy to the oligarchy itself. Socrates notes 5 distinct problems of the oligarchy, the first being the distribution of political power. Due to the standard of wealth required in the city, a wise, just, and virtuous man could not become a ruler if he is poor. If a true philosopher king existed, but was poor, he could not rule the city. This inevitably will lead to more injustice and harm done to the city, for those who are unfit to rule are the only ones with political power. If wealth was never

He had to make a big change to get to where he was at the beginning of the play but then he losses everything again when he drifts back to his days in a alcoholic haze. The Sun And Moon Are Not Present Until The Fourth Day Given that the Sun and Moon are not present until the fourth day, how can it be maintained that the first three days are days in the sense that we now understand them? Our current day is delineated via the earth s rotation in relation to the Sun no Sun, no 24 hour days. Even the passage itself says this, for it says in Gen. 1:14: Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be . . . for days . It may be objected that, regardless of whether or not we had a distant object in relation to which we might measure the progression of the earths rotation, it nonetheless remained similar to what it is now. But this is by no means clear, for the text itself maintains that the earth was radically and fundamentally different at that time, being without form and void (v. 2). As such, any claim that the earth s rotation then was similar to what it is now is based on an assumption: namely, that in spite of the fact that the earth itself was physically different, natural processes such as its rotation were the same then as now. This is a rather curious claim to make, for it is one of the primary charges leveled against those who adhere to other interpretations of the days (and correspondingly, the age of the earth) by those with whom we are disputing. Proponents of the calendar day interpretation frequently charge those with whom they disagree, whether secular scientists or other believers, of assuming that natural processes in

If I looked at through the lens of behavioural analysis in context of my working environment, it seems that what happens in the classroom (between students themselves as well as between teacher and students,) reinforces some aspect of behaviour i.e. giving thanks to students, for their contribution to classroom discussions, that will encourage more discussion points to be raised (reinforced). This method typically rely heavily on the use of positive reinforcements such as verbal praise, good grades, and prizes, which have been seen in the classroom when the students had been completed their

INTRODUCTION One of the primary functions of an automobile climate control system is to provide the desired cooling and stabilize cabin temperatures to comfortable levels in hot climatic conditions. With the increasing demand for more energy efficient systems and thermal comfort in automobiles, the automobile AC system needs to be optimized to deliver the required cooling performance with minimum AC power consumption. Proper selection and integration of AC compressor with other system aggregates results in improved energy efficiency of the system. There are varies ideas to improve compressor efficiency .But considering manufacturing feasibility ,design and validation lead time and cost as many of the ideas dropped down. Oil separator is one of the way to improve cooling efficiency of compressor in which low investment and lead time involved. Air conditioning compressor is an integral component for an air conditioning system; when it begins reciprocate, lubricant will be very pivotal to protect equipment. But when refrigerant is Exhausted from compressor, a little of lubricating oil will be taken away from it and will accumulate inside the compressor eventually. Therefore, an oil gas separator need be collocated to compressor, which could separate lubricating oil from refrigerant and then lubricating oil would flow back compressor. For the separator construction, the
  • 56. Analysis Of The Ecstasy By John Donne Mallory Torres Professor Patterson English IV DC 2322 1st period 18 October 2017 The Ecstasy The poem, The Ecstasy is one of the more well known works written by John Donne. In the poem, Donne seems to agree with the philosophy that true love can only be available on a spiritual level and explains what the process is to get there. The purpose of this essay is to analyze how the poem expresses the unique ideas of love and how two people make connections through different pathways, aside from just the physical bonds. The theme of a story can often directly relate to the title of the text, but sometimes the true meaning of the story hides in between the lines of the poem. Donne utilized this technique in The Ecstasy to justify the meaning of his poem, while the text presents a slightly different idea. According to the an online encyclopedia, the title of the poem refers not to the modern meaning of the word ecstasy rapture or delight, especially of a sexual nature but rather to a Renaissance era meaning that describes the movement of the soul outside of the body (Overview: The Ecstasy). This explains the denotation that the text presents and the importance that the title has towards Donne s theme of spiritual love. The term ecstasy, in modern language, relates to the idea of physical excitement or satisfaction. However, the way Donne uses it in his work is through the consideration of two souls and the journey to true love. The one idea that Donne uses quite often in The Ecstasy is that the eyes are a gateway to the soul and without it, the level of spiritual love is incomplete. The eyes are significant to the emotional connection that two people have because this is where the first interaction is. Two people primarily meet in person and allow the eyes to determine whether there is a shallow attraction. After the physical examination, the eyes of the person can wander about in the lover s eyes, which can lead the people to become more comfortable which each other and begin to share experiences that are more personal. This first appears in the beginning of the poem when the speaker mentions, Our eye beams twisted, and did thread, our eyes upon one double string (lines 7 8). The speaker notes that
  • 57. Philosophy Of Imago Dei God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them . Mankind is described as being created in the image of likeness of God; created out of love to love and be loved. Hence, the moral implications of the doctrine of Imago Dei suggests that if humans are to love God, they must love one another , as each is an expression of God thus, as Gula puts it, being adequately considered . Humans differ from other creatures, as they are self reflective, rational and able to make moral decisions. Since we are Imago Dei, we cannot truly understand humanity unless we refer to God. We are His own image , so to understand who we are as beings, we must come to know God the Ultimate Creator. Hence, God created us with the desire and capability of knowing and loving God; Capax Dei i.e. The mind is the image of God, in that it is capable of Him and can be partaker of Him Augustine . Christ and the Holy Spirit revealed God to us, so we can imitate Him in order to become truly human. We are rational and free, and thus it is up to us whether we want to become in God s likeness or not. By accepting this invitation, we are able to communicate and build a relationship with Him, and as we learn in eschatology, we eventually arrive and see God face to face and be... When speaking about the concept of the uniqueness of the persons in relation to other entities, personalists are influenced by Thomistic philosophy mentioned above. Thus, they differentiate between the concepts of person and individual . The deep meaning of person , as Von Balthasar wrote in On the Concept of Person , point[s] to the individual s uniqueness [and irreplaceability] which cannot be interchanged and therefore cannot be counted (para. 6.3). All human persons are created with dignity and hence must be respected and treated as a person from the moment of conception
