The Impactages And Impacts Of Email On Interpersonal...
Email has modified the mode of communications much faster and easier for many people. Now we
can type messages more speedily than penned down by hand, delivered with the speedy internet
connection, and stored and retrieved back from any computer having access to the server.
The discussion under the head of this essay deals with those professional and personal manners which
should be followed by writing an email while making it more workable and comprehensive to follow.
Impacts of email on Interpersonal Communication:
Email has undoubtedly a dramatic impact on the modern way of communication as it is being
conducted and the way, information is being transmitted worldwide. The Internet has become an
essential part of our today s social fabric, and for a lot of people, the Internet and email both go ...

communication.
Advantages and disadvantages associated with communicating by email:
Emails carry variety of benefits. Some of them are being showcased here
Emails are trouble free to use. It is quite handy to use and fairly simple to learn how to send an email.
Daily correspondence can be maintained hassle free. Emails are prompt with simple and quite
informal language. While replying to an email original message can be attached so that the recipient
knows the topic of discussion.. This is extremely important if we get hundreds of emails daily.
Auto responder emails are a good source of sending automated emails with specified texts that show
the unavailability of a person
Email are quite environment friendly because there is no use of papers.

1. There are many different factors that affect an organisation s approach to attract talent. The list
below includes some of them.
SALARY: compensation is clearly an important factor for employees and it is one of the main reason
for them moving to a new job. Successful professionals appreciate generous salary because giving
them a high compensation the company shows to recognize properly and appreciate their skills and
competencies.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: a workplace where you can enjoy the challenges, co workers, and
atmosphere is very attracting for talent. They want to feel the company they work for as a second

COMPETITORS
The recruitment policies of the competitors also effect the recruitment function of the organizations.
To face the competition, many times the organizations have to change their recruitment policies
according to the policies being followed by the competitors.
4. In the brief dissertation below, I will describe the benefits of three different recruitment methods ,
testing, practical assessment and telephone interviews and the benefits of three different selection
methods, advertising, using references and company website.
Selecting tests can measure knowledge, skills and ability, as well as other characteristics, such as
personality traits and they are useful to evaluate the right employee for a specific role, by identifying
the candidate personality. For example, if a company or department needs to hire a new manager, a
psychological/aptitude test may help to understand better if the candidate has the features required for
that specific job position (strong leadership skills, such as high self confidence, calmness, flexibility,
etc).
The practical assessment has the benefit to allow the candidates to show in practice to have the skills
required for that job position. It also have the advantage to get precious information about that
candidates (how they work under pressure; how they dial with performance anxiety ; non verbal

Personal Narrative Essay On Pumpkin Picking
It was a nice day to go pumpkin picking with my family. We went to the local farms to pick our
pumpkins. I wanted to pick the perfect one. My mom told me a story about zombie pumpkins. I didn t
believe her because she tells me that story every year we go pumpkin picking. When we got there the
clouds were turning dark gray and the air was very heavy. The fog filled the aisles of the apple trees.
We had to pick our pumpkins fast because the weather was turning bad, a storm was coming. I saw the
perfect pumpkin all the way in the back of the patch. I picked one up and it was perfect. As I turned it
around, it was really a pumpkin zombie. The eyes were dark red, seeds were coming out of its mouth,
and green ooze dripped from its ears and nose.

Pholological Differences Between Mandarin and English
Language Studies 172 Assignment 1 :Essay on Language comparison. By: Kyle Sibson 14189702
Assessment 1 For this assessment I have been required to compare English with another language. I
have decided to choose Mandarin as my language of choice. A major elements of languages will be
compared in this essay. That being phonology. Phonology is defined as being the study of the way
speech sounds form patterns .(Victoria Fromkin 2009). As (Hammond 1999) describes, every spoken
language has a unique system whereby sounds are organised. This unique pattern of pattern can be
termed phonology and varies widely in geographical and social differences. English is the most widely
spoken language in the world with up to a total of up to 1.8 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Yinyue  Pattern Two: Primary Stress + Unstressed (/ + o) e.g. Xihuan ɕ
Pattern Three: Primary Stress + Normal Stress (/ + ) e.g. Reqing. [ɻtɕi Tone is one of the most
important aspects of Mandarin; they can change the meaning of a word just by changing the pitch of
how we say the syllable. There are for tones in mandarin (5 if we include the neutral tone) which are
high, rising, falling rising and falling. The diagram below shows the pitch of each tone. An example of
how tones can change a meaning can be used with the word ma. Ma with a high tone means mother,
with a rising tone it means hemp, with a falling rising tone means horse and lastly a falling tone means
to scold. We can also say ma with a neutral tone indicates that a yes/no question are being
asked(Taochung Yao 1997). So as shown, it is very important when speaking Mandarin that the tones
are correct as if they are wrong they can change the entire meaning of a word. So based on the
analysis of both English and Mandarin phonology, we can see that they vary greatly. The most logical
reason for Chinese having tones is because only about up to 400 different syllables can be made
whereas in English there are approximately 12000.(Gao 2002) Also shown in English is the
importance of stress and pitch, which lack the same importance in Mandarin. While stress in English
can change a noun to a verb or even change the complete meaning of the word, stress in mandarin is
only used on certain

Cyclooxygenase Synthesis
While we acquire many benefits by using medications, there is always room for improvement and
reducing the side effects they cause. One of the most commonly used medications are nonsteroidal
anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The way they work is by inhibiting a family of compounds called
prostaglandins. Prostaglandins have a wide range of functions they do for our body, such as promoting
inflammation and providing a layer of protection for our stomach from the acid produced.
Cyclooxygenase (COX) is the enzyme responsible for catalyzing the reaction which turns arachidonic
acid to prostaglandin. In our body, we have two types of COX enzymes, COX 1 and COX 2. Both of
these enzymes produce the prostaglandins that result in inflammation, but only ... Show more content

In developmental studies, DuP697 was shown to have equal affinity to the COX 1 and COX 2 ES
complex. However, an unexpected conformational change would occur to COX 2 which increased
inhibitor affinity by 80 folds. DuP697 does this through a slow, tight binding mechanism that is only
seen with COX 2. This was a great surprise because it allowed for structural analogs of DuP697 to be
bioengineered which have higher selectivity towards COX 2. The pharmaceutical company behind the
bioengineering of DuP697 was G.D. Searle. After altering DuP697 s structure, researchers were able
to increase the selective inhibition of COX 2 by substituting the methylsulfonylphenyl to an
arylsulfonamide. This new compound would now be known as celecoxib. Once again, through X ray
crystallography, crystal structures showed that arylsulfonamide greatly increased selective inhibition
of COX 2. The original 80 fold selectivity of DuP97 had now been increased to about a 1000 fold

Iago And Iago In William Shakespeare s Othello
Humans do not recognize the devastating destruction that words are capable of having when in the
right hands. The play Othello, written by William Shakespeare, demonstrates the conceivable power
that dwells within words through the character Iago. The character, Iago, has a complete
understanding of his victims nature down to their essence. In addition, because he does not have any
core beliefs or morals, Iago gains the ability to ultimately change his faith and principals. In short, the
biggest factor that contributes to Iago s successful manipulation is his ability to carefully select words
in the language.
Iago understands his companions to the very core by having complete knowledge of their behavior
and beliefs. He is able to fully grasp what his victim is thinking in situations and takes full advantage
of it to profit him. Othello is an exquisite example of Iago s expertise in the English language and
shows how fatal it can become. In the following lines Othello and Iago are conversating about the
plausible relationships between Cassio and Desdemona:
Othello: O, yes, and went between us very oft.
Iago: Indeed?
Othello: Indeed? ... Is he not honest?
Iago: Honest, my lord?
Othello: Honest, ay, honest.
Iago: My lord, for aught I know.
Othello: What dost thou think?
Iago: Think, my lord?
Othello: Think, my lord?
(act III. sc iii. Ll 100 105)
This short interaction between Iago and Othello is the beginning of Iago implanting the poison of
doubt into Othello s mind. Othello never suspects the loyalty of Desdemona however, Iago destroys
the foundation of this trust by continuously influencing Othello to think about it. He is an expert when
it comes to the complexity of the human mind and it allows him complete insight into Othello s
psyche. In the quotation, Iago is seen constantly questioning Othello. Othello desires an answer but
instead encounters another question. Notice that Iago questions Cassio s devotion to Othello; the
moment Othello brings him up in their conversation: O, yes, and went between us very oft. Indeed? .
Iago is forcing Othello to re evaluate Cassio, thus implanting the seed of doubt into his mind. Later,
the seed is seen sprouting roots because Othello then questions Cassio as to

Our Spiritual Growth
How do I know that I am growing up spiritually?
First of all, if we want to know whether we are growing up spiritually or not, we must know what the
meaning of growing spiritually is. Spirituality is our human capacity for God which allows us to
recognise God or the movement of God in our lives and, in the light of this recognition and experience
of God, our lived response to God (quoted from SF from the heart pdf). We can define growing up
spiritually as the processes when our human capacity to recognize, experience, and response to God is
increasing and we much more love and value God as our partner of marriage. The processes are
through the steps how we encounter God, what we know of God, and how we love God.
The first step of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I want to know God perfectly, God with a perfect purpose. And I have the truth revealed in my live
through many experience with God. Every time I know God more or something new, I feel joy and
amazed how awesome and almighty God is, I have my faith grow up. I got the most of knowledge in
my Senior High and University. Then, my knowledge is strengthened within the community of church.
But with more knowledge, we have more responsibility to God which is to do the right things
according what we have already known. Knowing God is like knowing and understanding your
spouse, it is not only for the theologians, but all the follower of Christ. The purpose of theology is to
become more like Jesus Christ. For me, until now, I am still growing in my theology, and I am looking
forward to know and understand God much more, knowing His every plan in my life.
The last step of the spiritual growth is the spirituality itself, how we love God. From the Bible, we can
see Matthew 22:37 that we must love the God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with your
entire mind and we can see John 14:15 that if we love God, we will obey God s commandments.
Loving God means that we love God as the first priority and obey His commandments. It is also said
in the bible John 4:21, whoever loves God, must love his brother also. God is

Myths According to Joseph Campbell
Kevin Gerbier What is a myth? When one thinks of a myth perhaps one thinks about a story being told
by the fire, or a dramatic tale about an invincible hero, or perhaps a cosmological occurrence that
caused everything to be. Personally, when I think of the word myth, I think of the ancient Greeks or
Romans with their many gods and goddesses; however, to most, the story being told by a myth is
simply that, just a story. To most the term myth has been confused for a legend or folklore. The truth
of the matter is however, that to religious scholars, a myth is more than just a story; a myth is how a
society s religion came to explain what seemed the inexplicable. With modern science booming and
being capable of explaining the events ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the Christian myth about the Garden of Eden, Adam, Eve, and the forbidden tree could
once have been seen as factually true. With modern science as an ally, we are no longer confined to
that story as an explanation to our beginnings. The cosmological function however is meant to do just
that, narrate a divine story that explains that which inexplicable at the time the story was created. The
third function of myths is the sociological function; this function of myths can be trivial and
sometimes twisted and turned for a select group s own benefit. Not only do the metaphorical stories
told in myth explain how the world functions or came to be per say, but also they leave teachings of
social order and divine order. An example of this can be seen in the Bible where homosexuality is said
to be an abomination. This type of lesson leads the believers in straying away from that sort of
behavior because their god frowns upon it. The sociological function is also meant to build a better
society by instilling a sense of morals, ethics, and customs upon the people. The problem with this
type of function arises when zealots begin to use the rules and orders set in their sacred texts to their
selfish needs and neglect the rest. The final function of myths is that they possess a psychological
function

My Critique Of A Concert Experience
As you have most likely already read on my data sheet, I listened to Dr. Joe and Friend play at Ayuthai
Restaurant on November 12th. The venue features jazz ensembles pretty often, although I am not sure
why... Are the Thais even bigger fans of jazz than the French, or is it a personal preference of the
venue owner? My first concert experience was overall pretty good. I had a difficult time recognizing
selections so I had to stay for the full two hours. I ate a lot of Thai food. Appetizer, entree, and
dessert... I would have felt like a pig if the couple seated next to be hadn t order over double the
amount of food I did. Point being, I highly recommend Ayuthai Restaurant, and now onto my critique.
The vocalist was no Billy Holiday or Ella Fitzgerald, but she was not half bad either! I was overjoyed
whenever she joined the group. She sang two songs at the end of the first hour and then another two at
the end of the second. I was finally able to recognize and write down some selections! I had not been
able to recognize a simple musical piece played without her accompaniment. They were not playing
any of the jazz standards that I knew. No Ain t Misbehavin , My Favorite Things, or Body and Soul...
The first song she sang was one whose instrumentation I would have recognized, though. Orange
Colored Skies is one of my favorites. I know the words by heart, so I immediately noticed something
different.

In this essay I will be outlining consumerism and claims that a consumer society is always a throw
away society. Consumption plays a big part in our lives and causes us to live in divided societies. It
may make us feel like we fit in buying new gadgets and clothes and also give us that sense of
belonging but we don t take into account what happens to the old items and packaging. People do not

We often question how our food and clothes can be sold so cheap, this all comes down to where it is
made or grown. Our clothes are made overseas in factories by women and in some cases even children
in unsuitable conditions. They work long hours and don t get paid much in return, it is said to be less
than what they can afford to live on and made to work extra hours. This is why large stores like
Primark and Asda can sell their clothes at such little cost. Some of the workers are said to be working
60 to 90 hours every week for as little as £17 per month. (Making social lives pg.88) The workers in
the factories are grateful for their small wage and would struggle if the factories were to close and
business was took elsewhere.
The growth of consumption has caused a large increase in rubbish. This is due to people having more
choice when out shopping. Many years ago women stayed at home and men went to work but now
that both men and women are out earning there is a lot more disposable income which ends with
people buying luxuries and upgrading items they already have. This results in the old ones being
thrown away. People are constantly upgrading and renewing items to better models. Mobile phones
bring out new models every year which people feel the need to buy to keep up with the trend and
because they want the newest gadgets on the street. Pcs have changed to laptops which gives the pc no

Pathos, Logos, and Ethos in Advertising Essay
What captures the attention of people when they view an advertisement, commercial or poster? Is it
the colors, a captivating phrase or the people pictured? While these are some of the elements often
employed in advertising, we can look deeper and analyze the types of appeals that are utilized to draw
attention to certain advertisements. The persuasive methods used can be classified into three modes.
These modes are pathos, logos, and ethos. Pathos makes an appeal to emotions, logos appeals to logic
or reason and ethos makes an appeal of character or credibility. Each appeal can give support to the
message that is being promoted.

conditions that may be related to smoking, such as fatal heart attacks, emphysema, cancer, and gum

they would also be endangering their life with the use of cigarettes. The consequences and health
issues associated with smoking can be just as deadly as those of the gun. Ultimately, if someone

Why The 1930-1940 s Was The Greatest Generation
Some might say that the 1930 s and 1940 s was the greatest generation. The 1930 s started with the
Great Depression the greatest economic disaster in modern history. This generation had to deal with
great sacrifice. The stock market crashed and people were forced out of their homes, lost businesses,
lost their jobs, and had no help from the government. People that had left the farmlands to move to the
cities for employment found themselves returning to the farm to feed their families. People that were
forced to leave their homes moved into parks and abandoned lands to set up what was called
Hooverville s (Foner 2014). The bank s collapse was not the only reason for the great depression the
country lost over 26,000 businesses and those businesses that were left had to lay off workers. With all
of these people out of work no one was spending, so the lost revenue just continued to reduce the need
for companies to produce products. People blamed themselves and then the government. President

niche and struggle to participate in a world that is significant for them. I strongly agree with Weiss s
point and believe that every young person in any society are social actors who try to fit in a world that
they feel is right for them and use popular culture and globalization as a tool to get there. Brad Weiss
does a great job showing the reader that barbershops around Tanzania are more than just a place for
getting a haircut. He explains to the reader in great detail that the people of Tanzania see barbershops
as a place for obtaining news, catching up on the latest trends, gossip, discovering new music, or just
simply hanging out. Barbershops provide men with a chance , an opportunity or a place during times
of uncertainty. Weiss spends most of his time at barbershops because it is a great place for studying
popular culture and allows him to see what the clients at these barber shops find interesting. There
were some things that I found problematic in Weiss s writing that can turn off some readers. Some
parts of the book he tends to over analyze and bore the reader with useless facts. I found myself

My Writing Techniques
During this semester in Writing Workshop, I learned many writing techniques that helped improve my
writing. I learned how to research topics effectively and use scholarly sources instead of popular
sources. I learned how to conduct an interview and developed problem solving skills. All of these
techniques helped me develop my final solution to the issue I chose to research. In high school, when
my teacher told me to research a topic and write an essay on it, I would go to Google and type in the
topic. Once Google provided me with millions of hits, I usually chose the first one and used it. Also, I
would use Wikipedia. Wikipedia contains information about topics, but people can edit those pages
and put false information. At the beginning of my second semester, I started to learn about scholarly
sources. Scholarly sources usually come from an expert or doctor. These experts and doctors take the
time to research the topic and provide it to the public. Using scholarly sources helps improve your
argument or viewpoint. Sources such as CNN, CBS, and NBC are popular sources and do not ... Show

We assume stuff every day. When we assume things, we usually do not realize that we just assumed
something. For example, every morning when somebody gets up and go outside to start their car, they
assume it will start. I do it every morning. I do not walk outside and expect it not to start. When
solving a problem we assume things and to make our solution strong we need to get rid of those
assumptions. During this second semester, I learned about many techniques that enhanced my writing.
I cannot believe that my first year of college is over because it seems like yesterday I attended my first
class. I will use this techniques throughout the rest of my life to make my paper stronger and more
professional. As I continue to learn I will add techniques I learn in the future to make my writing even
stronger. I believe my writing is strong, but can

Similarities Between Second Coming And 1914
W.B Yeats wrote Second Coming which had reflected the effects of world war one and another war
poet known as Welfred Owen wrote the poem 1914 which also discussed about the world war one
which broke out in 1914. These poems had evoked the theme of fall of civilization and chaos in the
world specially the European countries who were involved in the war. Both the Irish poets blamed the
greed and irrational acts of the people whose immoral deeds had ensued in the inception of great
destruction in the world. In the Second coming Yeats had employed images of falcon and falconer to
symbolize the fall of civilization which had leaded to a catastrophic war. And Owen had employed the
symbolism of the season such as the spring and winter to show the conditions of the world due to the
war. The major similarity between the Second coming and 1914 could be the poets view over the First
World War and their hopes of seeing the world rejuvenating into peaceful and blissful one. ... Show

(wilde, 2014). Both the poems had exhibited the effects of the destructive war. War broke: and now
the Winter of the world With perishing great darkness closes in (1914). Here Owen was trying to
convince that the war was like a winter which was cold and harsh affecting the world by making it
dark. Dark here means destructive and terrifying which will deprive the happiness and prosperity of
the world. The blood dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere. The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
(Yeats. 1919). This statement also has a similar point of view as the in Owen s 1914 the consequences
of war was likely to be devastating as it snatched the peace and happiness from the people. Yeats had

We Choose To Go To The American Spirit Speech Summary
John F. Kennedy s Passionate Appeal to the American Spirit: We Choose to Go to the Moon On
September 12, 1962, John F. Kennedy gave a rhetorically sound speech at Rice University in Houston,
Texas with the intent to rally American support for his space exploration proposition. Kennedy had
proposed his plan to congress a couple months before and this speech was his call to the American
people to stand behind him. While the speech is remembered for its famous line, We choose to go to
the moon, it was a carefully constructed piece of rhetoric. Kennedy s immediate audience extends
beyond the people that were in Rice Stadium that day. His message was intended for the entire
American populace as both a way of informing the people about his plan for space exploration and ...

Kennedy utilizes a form of the known new contract towards the beginning of his speech to show the
audience where they stand in reference to history while creating a sense of urgency. In his approach to
the known new contract, Kennedy conveys where America has been and where America is going.
Kennedy first conveys America s scientific position by stating, Despite the striking fact that most of
the scientists that the world has ever known are alive and working today... the unanswered and the
unfinished still far outstrip our collective comprehension. While the first sentence could have been
worded better to express that there are more scientists active than ever before, this section of the
speech conveys that America has many unanswered questions, but it also has the scientific manpower
to answer these questions in order to make space travel a reality. As Kennedy progresses, he
condenses human history into a 50 year timespan with an emphasis on scientific advancements in
order to give the audience perspective by establishing where humankind has been. As he goes from the

True Freedom Or Starvation Blues. What Does It Mean To
True Freedom or Starvation Blues What does it mean to actually be free? Does it mean sacrificing
your basic rights? Does it mean being overshadowed by fear every single day? Afraid to vote? Afraid
to walk down the street? Afraid to be shot or brutally strung up for thousands to see? Afraid just
because of the color of your skin? Unfortunately, after the Civil War, this was the kind of freedom
awaiting the newly freed African Americans in the New South. In Richard Wright s Black Boy , a
detailed memoir of his childhood in the early twentieth century, this new type of freedom is subtly
introduced in the beginning and thoroughly developed throughout the book. The horrible situations

When comparing country musician Jimmi Rogers song to blues musician Bill Broonzy s song,
Broonzy s Starvation Blues is a more accurate representation of Richard Wright s memoir Black Boy
in many different ways. The first point of comparison is the intended audience and purpose. The New
South was a time of change for everyone: mainly pertaining to the Jim Crow laws previously
explained. While these laws were supposed to create separate yet equal conditions, they unfortunately
condemned African Americans to inferior facilities and heinous treatment. The newly freed people of
the South found themselves unemployed, drowning in poverty, unable to pay rent, and unable to keep
food on the table for their families. This was not what the African Americans had in mind when they
were told that they would be held separate yet equal in society, and many of them wanted to voice
their opinions about the false hope of equality instilled in their minds. They wanted to share the
degrading situations they faced every day. They wanted all of America to hear of the struggles they
were still antagonized by even though they were supposed to be free and equal. Richard Wright s
Black Boy and Bill Broonzy s Starvation Blues both achieved this desire to be heard. Through written
accounts and musical lyrics, Wright and Broonzy shared their disheartening experiences to America
showing everyone the reality of separate but equal . The second point of comparison is

The Congress of Vienna (1814 1815) No event epitomizes the state of Europe in the wake of the
French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars as well as the Congress of Vienna held between 1814
1815. The culmination of centuries of European political tradition, the Congress was in many ways the
last gasp of monarchy in Europe, as the royal houses tried to restore the Europe they once knew and
ensure that their way of politics and society would be sustained even in the face of the radical wave of
change foreshadowed by the French Revolution. At that time of the Congress Europe was in a state of

Once in full swing, the Congress quickly moved into its first phase, the negotiations over Napoleon s
Duchy of Warsaw, otherwise known as Poland. The Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth had been
partitioned between 1772 to 1795 amongst Hapsburg Austria, Prussia, and Russia. Alexander I,
demanding compensation for Russia s efforts against Napoleon pushed for a plan in which the
Prussian and Austrian controlled sections of Poland would be combined into a new Kingdom of
Poland under Russian control. In exchange for ceding their Polish territories, Prussia would be given
the entire kingdom of Saxony, and Austria would be compensated with extensive holdings in northern
Italy. (Gulick) This proposition led to the bitterest conflicts at the Congress in what was dubbed the
Polish Saxon Crisis. The Coalition quickly broke into two opposing camps with Great Britain and
Austria in opposition to the Russian proposition, and Russia and Prussia in support of it. Metternich s
reasons for opposing Russian hegemony over Poland were the most pressing. Russian control of
Poland meant that the Hapsburg Empire would have to share its north and northeastern borders with
Russian soldiery. Likewise, if Prussia were to come into possession of Saxony then the northern
perimeter of the Empire would be even more susceptible to invasion, and the already strong political

One reason the poem is still relevant and popular today is the attention it brings to capitalism and the

The effect of a lay person being part of the legal system is that it creates a positive reputation for the
court. This is because lay people are not chosen because of their qualifications; they are chosen
randomly to come up with a verdict for the defendant. Having lay people in the legal system enable
the court to have a wider variety of opinion given by the community. This scheme allows associates of
the community to become a lay person (magistrates/jury). There are many advantages as well as
disadvantages of using lay personnel in court. An example of an advantages of using a lay person in

Concrete Filled Tubular ( Cft ) Column
The steel tube in a concrete filled tubular (CFT) column acts as both lateral and longitudinal
reinforcement, and is thus subjected to hoop tension and biaxial stresses of longitudinal compression.
At the same time, concrete is tri axially stressed. Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column has become
popular as structural member in buildings due to their excellent performance for structural
characteristics, which include high ductility, stiffness, and high strength. The advantages of the
Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column over other composite members are that the filled in concrete
prolongs local buckling of the steel tube wall, the steel tube provides formwork for the concrete, the
tube prevents excessive concrete spalling and composite columns add more stiffness to a frame
compared to old style steel frame construction. According to past study on the concentric compression
behavior of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns, the ultimate axial strength of Concrete filled
tubular (CFT) columns is largely affected by the thickness of the steel tube and the shape of its cross
section Although confining effect in square columns show a small increase in axial strength due to
triaxial effects, although it has large wall thicknesses. On the other hand, the axial load and
deformation behavior of columns is remarkably affected by the cross sectional shape, diameter/width
to thickness ratio (D/t) of the steel tube, and the strength of the filled concrete.

making the choice to leave them behind in order to better yourself can be difficult for some. Because

Exposure of Humans to Ozone
Previous studies have shown that exposure to human by ozone is effective to health and it is

the ground level concentration of ozone is major problem in present and also in future. Presents
projected average daily 8 h maximum ozone levels for future using the raw and calibrated climate
model outputs. The 95% projections intervals accounts for uncertainties in the associations between
daily ozone levels, and daily meteorology and precursors level. The number of exceedance days
during the historical period was 34 per year. Calibrated climate simulations projected an increase in
the number of exceedance days ranging from 2.6 to 8.3 (7% to 24%) with mean 2.8 (8.3%) per year
between 2041 2070 and

The impacts of ozone on human health are associated with short term acute effects on the respiratory
system, skin, lungs, chronic disease and death. The cellular and biochemical changes in the alveolar
region of the lung can also be measured in humans exposed to low levels of ozone. The data presented

inflammation and damage in alveolar region of the lung. These levels are at or below the current
standard, since the present hourly ozone standard of 0.12 ppm translates roughly into 0.1 ppm over 8 h

Neill Blomkamp s District 9 transcends the bounds of Hollywood s usual, cliché alien movies.
Through its imposing cinematography and mise en scène, an element of compassion is woven in
throughout District 9, inverting the audience s expectations with a shocking, novel narrative. The first
fifteen minutes open up in a mockumentary style, establishing the environment with interviews, news
footage, corporation logs, and found footage of the alien ship hovering over Johannesburg. The film s

The small glimpse of the aliens harboring their ship made them appear horrifying; whereas, when they
properly make their first appearance in the camps, they are accurately shown as pathetic and sickly.
The different mise en scène in these two shots uncovers the two interpretations of the supposed threat.
This informs the audience s perception of the aliens as vulnerable and lost due to their imprisonment
by the Multi National United (MNU) Security Force. The mise en scène of the camps further
captivates the viewer with images of destruction, barbed wire, and dilapidated homes in a
Johannesburg slum. The choice of the setting being Johannesburg sets a different expectation for the
viewer, as most Hollywood alien movies take place in major American cities; the foreign setting
clearly establishes the film s unique tone. This tone highlights the film s clear allusion to the South
African Apartheid by depicting comparable events. Mise en scène plays a huge role in this connection,
as the camera rolls by a chain of signs that say, For Humans Only , No Non Human Loitering , No!
Not Welcome . This communicates that the human population is against the alien presence, preferring
segregation instead of unity. These images have a direct connection to South Africa s past, while also
being reminiscent of the European refugee camps and the Jim Crow laws in America.
In continuation, the mise en scène used in the camps

Anne s Diary
(a) Written by the inspiring Anne Frank herself, The Diary of a Young Girl has plenty of characters
each playing a significant role in Anne s life, but none of these characters come close to being
considered a best friend. Instead, although not a character, Anne s diary in which she named Kitty , is
someone who could be considered as Anne s true best friend. (b1) The reason that Anne s diary
surpasses every other character in being Anne s best friend is because the diary had the character trait
of being trustworthy and therefore acted like a confidant to Anne. Kitty being trustworthy to Anne was
shown in several different parts of the diary. For example, on June 20, 1942 when Anne was just
starting her diary. She was contemplating whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(b) The Secret Annex during the time period of the Adolf Hitler s reign is not an ideal setting because
the Holocaust was taking place, there were several bombings and air raids and because there was a
shortage of food in that time period. For these reasons, I would not consider visiting The Secret Annex
during this time period. (c1) One reason why the setting of Anne s diary was not ideal was because
Anne s diary was set during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a sadistic and ruthless time period
where over six million Jewish people and many others were killed in concentration camps. At this
time, Germany had a dictator by the name of Adolf Hitler, who led the Nazi party and was responsible
for a genocide. Anne, a Jewish girl, was in hiding during the Holocaust with the fear of being sent to a
murderous concentration camp instilled inside of her. She writes in her diary, not only to have a friend
but also so that one day people could read her diary and hear about the horrible ways that Jewish
people were treated. She described this as she writes Who has inflicted this upon us? Who has made
us Jews different from all other people? Who has allowed us to suffer so terribly up till now? (Frank
207). (d3) Anne says Who has allowed us to suffer describing how the Jewish people had to suffer
tremendously during the Holocaust. How so many innocents were brutally murdered in the most
inhumane ways possible and the rest who were not in the camps had to live out their days in constant
fear that they would become a victim of the genocide. She also writes who has made us Jews different
from all other people? showing that the Jewish people were separated from all others. They were
treated differently and cold heartedly. The Holocaust overall was a time of cruelty and unfairness as
Anne described, making the

Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House Essay
What comes to mind when the word morals is said? Whose morals should be followed, individual or
group? In A Doll House, Ibsen portrays the protagonist, Nora, to follow the morals of her husband,
Torvald. Four key aspects that help Nora decide to change her mind and make a decision to leave
Torvald. These include the constant change of nicknames, the questioning of her own independence,
the questioning of Torvald s love, and the realization that Torvald loves his reputation more then
herself. As a result, Nora sets out to find her own individuality and moral beliefs.
When it comes to the use of nicknames, the tone of voice is an indication of how a person feels about
another. As the story begins, we find Nora and Torvald in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As their conversation grows deeper, a smaller argument begins to form. They begin talking about
burdens that each one has dealt with and Mrs. Linde states, . .. you know so little of life s burdens
yourself (1192). Nora, taking offense, replies, You re just like the others. You all think I m incapable of
anything serious (1193). This is the second piece of evidence because Mrs. Linde helps Nora to begin
realizing that she has not been as independent as she thought. Nora starts to apprehend that she has
been sheltered her whole life and does not know what it means to be independent or to have her own
set of morals. She begins to question what she believes in and what others have her believing in.
As Mrs. Linde and Nora continue with their conversation, Nora begins to question whether Torvald
does love her. Nora begins to tell her story of how she was the one to raise the money for the trip to
Italy and not Torvald. She reveals how she went to Krogstad and asked for a loan to help pay for the
trip. When Mrs. Linde asked if Torvald knew any of this information Nora replied, He s so strict on
that subject ... with all his masculine pride how painfully humiliating for him if he ever found out he
was in debt to me (1194). Nora did not feel comfortable telling Torvald about the predicament because
she did not want to offend him. Torvald is set on complying by his morals and the fact that Nora
disobeyed them would dishonor her

Selecting tests can measure knowledge, skills and ability, as well as other characteristics, such as personality traits and they are useful to evaluate the right employee for a specific role, by identifying the candidate personality. For example, if a company or department needs to hire a new manager, a psychological/aptitude test may help to understand better if the candidate has the features required for that specific job position (strong leadership skills, such as high self confidence, calmness, flexibility, etc). • 5. Pholological Differences Between Mandarin and English Language Studies 172 Assignment 1 :Essay on Language comparison. By: Kyle Sibson 14189702 Assessment 1 For this assessment I have been required to compare English with another language. I have decided to choose Mandarin as my language of choice. A major elements of languages will be compared in this essay. That being phonology. Phonology is defined as being the study of the way speech sounds form patterns .(Victoria Fromkin 2009). As (Hammond 1999) describes, every spoken language has a unique system whereby sounds are organised. This unique pattern of pattern can be termed phonology and varies widely in geographical and social differences. [ɻtɕi Tone is one of the most important aspects of Mandarin; they can change the meaning of a word just by changing the pitch of how we say the syllable. There are for tones in mandarin (5 if we include the neutral tone) which are high, rising, falling rising and falling. The diagram below shows the pitch of each tone. An example of how tones can change a meaning can be used with the word ma. Ma with a high tone means mother, with a rising tone it means hemp, with a falling rising tone means horse and lastly a falling tone means to scold. We can also say ma with a neutral tone indicates that a yes/no question are being asked(Taochung Yao 1997). So as shown, it is very important when speaking Mandarin that the tones are correct as if they are wrong they can change the entire meaning of a word. So based on the analysis of both English and Mandarin phonology, we can see that they vary greatly. The most logical reason for Chinese having tones is because only about up to 400 different syllables can be made whereas in English there are approximately 12000.(Gao 2002) Also shown in English is the importance of stress and pitch, which lack the same importance in Mandarin. While stress in English can change a noun to a verb or even change the complete meaning of the word, stress in mandarin is only used on certain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the most commonly used medications are nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The way they work is by inhibiting a family of compounds called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins have a wide range of functions they do for our body, such as promoting inflammation and providing a layer of protection for our stomach from the acid produced. Cyclooxygenase (COX) is the enzyme responsible for catalyzing the reaction which turns arachidonic acid to prostaglandin. In our body, we have two types of COX enzymes, COX 1 and COX 2. In developmental studies, DuP697 was shown to have equal affinity to the COX 1 and COX 2 ES complex. However, an unexpected conformational change would occur to COX 2 which increased inhibitor affinity by 80 folds. DuP697 does this through a slow, tight binding mechanism that is only seen with COX 2. This was a great surprise because it allowed for structural analogs of DuP697 to be bioengineered which have higher selectivity towards COX 2. The pharmaceutical company behind the bioengineering of DuP697 was G.D. Searle. After altering DuP697 s structure, researchers were able to increase the selective inhibition of COX 2 by substituting the methylsulfonylphenyl to an arylsulfonamide. This new compound would now be known as celecoxib. Once again, through X ray crystallography, crystal structures showed that arylsulfonamide greatly increased selective inhibition of COX 2. • 8. Iago And Iago In William Shakespeare s Othello Humans do not recognize the devastating destruction that words are capable of having when in the right hands. The play Othello, written by William Shakespeare, demonstrates the conceivable power that dwells within words through the character Iago. The character, Iago, has a complete understanding of his victims nature down to their essence. In addition, because he does not have any core beliefs or morals, Iago gains the ability to ultimately change his faith and principals. In short, the biggest factor that contributes to Iago s successful manipulation is his ability to carefully select words in the language. Iago understands his companions to the very core by having complete knowledge of their behavior and beliefs. He is able to fully grasp what his victim is thinking in situations and takes full advantage of it to profit him. Othello is an exquisite example of Iago s expertise in the English language and shows how fatal it can become. In the following lines Othello and Iago are conversating about the plausible relationships between Cassio and Desdemona: Othello: O, yes, and went between us very oft. (act III. sc iii. Ll 100 105) This short interaction between Iago and Othello is the beginning of Iago implanting the poison of doubt into Othello s mind. Othello never suspects the loyalty of Desdemona however, Iago destroys the foundation of this trust by continuously influencing Othello to think about it. He is an expert when it comes to the complexity of the human mind and it allows him complete insight into Othello s psyche. In the quotation, Iago is seen constantly questioning Othello. Othello desires an answer but instead encounters another question. Notice that Iago questions Cassio s devotion to Othello; the moment Othello brings him up in their conversation: O, yes, and went between us very oft. Indeed? . Iago is forcing Othello to re evaluate Cassio, thus implanting the seed of doubt into his mind. Later, the seed is seen sprouting roots because Othello then questions Cassio as to ... When one thinks of a myth perhaps one thinks about a story being told by the fire, or a dramatic tale about an invincible hero, or perhaps a cosmological occurrence that caused everything to be. Personally, when I think of the word myth, I think of the ancient Greeks or Romans with their many gods and goddesses; however, to most, the story being told by a myth is simply that, just a story. To most the term myth has been confused for a legend or folklore. For example, the Christian myth about the Garden of Eden, Adam, Eve, and the forbidden tree could once have been seen as factually true. With modern science as an ally, we are no longer confined to that story as an explanation to our beginnings. The cosmological function however is meant to do just that, narrate a divine story that explains that which inexplicable at the time the story was created. The third function of myths is the sociological function; this function of myths can be trivial and sometimes twisted and turned for a select group s own benefit. Not only do the metaphorical stories told in myth explain how the world functions or came to be per say, but also they leave teachings of social order and divine order. An example of this can be seen in the Bible where homosexuality is said to be an abomination. This type of lesson leads the believers in straying away from that sort of behavior because their god frowns upon it. The sociological function is also meant to build a better society by instilling a sense of morals, ethics, and customs upon the people. The problem with this type of function arises when zealots begin to use the rules and orders set in their sacred texts to their selfish needs and neglect the rest. The final function of myths is that they possess a psychological function ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These poems had evoked the theme of fall of civilization and chaos in the world specially the European countries who were involved in the war. Both the Irish poets blamed the greed and irrational acts of the people whose immoral deeds had ensued in the inception of great destruction in the world. In the Second coming Yeats had employed images of falcon and falconer to symbolize the fall of civilization which had leaded to a catastrophic war. And Owen had employed the symbolism of the season such as the spring and winter to show the conditions of the world due to the war. The major similarity between the Second coming and 1914 could be the poets view over the First World War and their hopes of seeing the world rejuvenating into peaceful and blissful one. ... Here Owen was trying to convince that the war was like a winter which was cold and harsh affecting the world by making it dark. Dark here means destructive and terrifying which will deprive the happiness and prosperity of the world. The blood dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere. When comparing country musician Jimmi Rogers song to blues musician Bill Broonzy s song, Broonzy s Starvation Blues is a more accurate representation of Richard Wright s memoir Black Boy in many different ways. The first point of comparison is the intended audience and purpose. The New South was a time of change for everyone: mainly pertaining to the Jim Crow laws previously explained. While these laws were supposed to create separate yet equal conditions, they unfortunately condemned African Americans to inferior facilities and heinous treatment. The newly freed people of the South found themselves unemployed, drowning in poverty, unable to pay rent, and unable to keep food on the table for their families. This was not what the African Americans had in mind when they were told that they would be held separate yet equal in society, and many of them wanted to voice their opinions about the false hope of equality instilled in their minds. They wanted to share the degrading situations they faced every day. They wanted all of America to hear of the struggles they were still antagonized by even though they were supposed to be free and equal. Richard Wright s Black Boy and Bill Broonzy s Starvation Blues both achieved this desire to be heard. The Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth had been partitioned between 1772 to 1795 amongst Hapsburg Austria, Prussia, and Russia. In exchange for ceding their Polish territories, Prussia would be given the entire kingdom of Saxony, and Austria would be compensated with extensive holdings in northern Italy. Concrete Filled Tubular ( Cft ) Column The steel tube in a concrete filled tubular (CFT) column acts as both lateral and longitudinal reinforcement, and is thus subjected to hoop tension and biaxial stresses of longitudinal compression. At the same time, concrete is tri axially stressed. Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column has become popular as structural member in buildings due to their excellent performance for structural characteristics, which include high ductility, stiffness, and high strength. The advantages of the Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column over other composite members are that the filled in concrete prolongs local buckling of the steel tube wall, the steel tube provides formwork for the concrete, the tube prevents excessive concrete spalling and composite columns add more stiffness to a frame compared to old style steel frame construction. According to past study on the concentric compression behavior of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns, the ultimate axial strength of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns is largely affected by the thickness of the steel tube and the shape of its cross section Although confining effect in square columns show a small increase in axial strength due to triaxial effects, although it has large wall thicknesses. For these reasons, I would not consider visiting The Secret Annex during this time period. (c1) One reason why the setting of Anne s diary was not ideal was because Anne s diary was set during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a sadistic and ruthless time period where over six million Jewish people and many others were killed in concentration camps. At this time, Germany had a dictator by the name of Adolf Hitler, who led the Nazi party and was responsible for a genocide. Anne, a Jewish girl, was in hiding during the Holocaust with the fear of being sent to a murderous concentration camp instilled inside of her. She writes in her diary, not only to have a friend but also so that one day people could read her diary and hear about the horrible ways that Jewish people were treated. This is the second piece of evidence because Mrs. Linde helps Nora to begin realizing that she has not been as independent as she thought. Nora starts to apprehend that she has been sheltered her whole life and does not know what it means to be independent or to have her own set of morals. She begins to question what she believes in and what others have her believing in. As Mrs. Linde and Nora continue with their conversation, Nora begins to question whether Torvald does love her. Nora begins to tell her story of how she was the one to raise the money for the trip to Italy and not Torvald. She reveals how she went to Krogstad and asked for a loan to help pay for the trip. When Mrs. Linde asked if Torvald knew any of this information Nora replied, He s so strict on that subject ... with all his masculine pride how painfully humiliating for him if he ever found out he was in debt to me (1194).
