Autoimmune Deficiencies Of Autoimmune Deficiency
Autoimmune Deficiencies are very complex and misunderstood diseases in the world today. Most
people are uneducated and unaware of what these diseases actually are and the trials people diagnosed
with these illnesses face. Due to their lack of education there is also a lack of compassion shown;
causing an awkward, silent tension between people. Lupus is a subcategory of the Autoimmune
Deficiencies. Those with this tend to be silent about their struggle, causing it to be unnoticed in the
world. However, there have been efforts made medically to give these people a true voice. In order to
give them a voice people must know what Lupus actually is, the causes and symptoms of it, and new
research that can help improve the quality of life for those who have the disease. Autoimmune
Deficiency is a medical term used that means that a person s immune system literally attacks and eats
their issue. Their body does not know how to properly indicate the difference between healthy and
unhealthy tissue so they produce antibodies that completely eat both sets of tissue. Lupus performs the
same function in a person s body, but it is a very hard disease to actually diagnose because it can
mimic various other diseases. It goes by the scientific name Systemic lupus erythematosus, with the
common name Lupus being used in everyday terms. This illness is one of chronic pain that can affect
the body both inwardly and outwardly. Inwardly, the body `s immune system eats the issue and can

The Sistine Chapel
a. In Renaissance
a.a. Sistine Chapel, Vatican City
Originally, the Sistine Chapel s vaulted ceiling was painted blue and covered with golden stars. The
walls were adorned with frescoes by different artists, such as Pietro Perugino, who painted Christ
delivering the keys to St. Peter there in 1482.
The ceiling program, which was probably formulated with the help of a theologian from the Vatican,
is centered around several scenes from the Old Testament beginning with the Creation of the World
and ending at the story of Noah and the Flood.
The public first saw Michelangelo s frescoes on the vaulted ceiling of the Sistine Chapel on November
1, 1512 but some of those vaults seen are not real. The Renaissance artist spent four years painting the

To compensate for the building s modest square footage, artist Donato Bramante created a trompe l

space passes for an imposing cathedral when standing at the front doors.
a.c. Sant Ignazio Church
Although Pozzo had undertaken numerous commissions to decorate Jesuit churches with Biblical art
using mural paintings marked by foreshortening as well as various illusionistic devices, such as fake
ceilings, gilding, balustrades and other trompe l oeil architectural motifs the decoration of the Church
of Sant Ignazio was his first major fresco series. The main theme, a symbol of the Apotheosis of St
Ignatius, was painted on the ceiling of the nave, which looks like a lofty vaulted roof embellished by
statues, even though the ceiling is actually completely flat.
Pozzo opened up the nave ceiling further by painting an illusionistic cupola, open to the sky, and
populated with upward floating figures. The ceiling fresco depicts the work of Saint Ignatius and the
Society of Jesus; shows Saint Ignatius entering Paradise, being welcomed by Christ and the Virgin

Sartre s Existentialism
Shortcomings of Sartre s Existentialism
[1] Philosophy is the manner in which we describe the world around us. We develop our moral code
and way of life based off of this definition, so the philosophy that we adhere to is a guiding factor in
the way in which we live. In his speech Existentialism is a Humanism, Jean Paul Sartre defends his
philosophy, existentialism, against its critics by arguing that for human existence, precedes essence
(20) because we have free will. Due to this, our essence is constructed through the actions we choose
to take, so that one is no more than the sum of his parts (Sartre 37), making each person responsible
for themself. Sartre argues that this leads to anguish that people are responsible for not just ... Show

As there is no deterministic god or destiny, people are the sole determiners of their actions, according
to Sartre, and thus fully responsible for them.
[3] Sartre argues that each action taken by a person is representative of his or her idea of the proper
way of life in that situation. He provides an example in support of this: if a person joins a Christian
trade union, surely then he or she must believe that being a Christian is the proper lifestyle for all
people, otherwise they would not advocate for it personally. Likewise, if a person becomes a
Communist, they must hold the belief that Communism is the best form of government and should be
instituted everywhere, otherwise they would not desire to live under it (24). In addition, Sartre argues
that people would never choose evil, but rather always good (24), as it would be illogical to make a
choice that is against their own interest. Therefore, when making decisions, one is proclaiming what
he or she believes is best for all people. The idea that in choosing myself, I choose man (25) leads to
an understanding of a vital component of existentialism anguish.
[4] Anguish, defined by Sartre, is the realization that one s idea of how one should live is not just
limited to oneself, but extended to all humans. When one acts, they are declaring to the world their
ideal human image. After introspection, the grave realization that one has a grand responsibility to all
others thrusts a

Who Is Responsible For The Inca s Downfall
The Incas worshiped many Gods.Their Sun God was Marco Capae. Huascar, their 12th God. They had
3 realms, 1 of them is Hana Pacha. She was the celestial realm in the sky. Uku Pacha was a realm and
he was the inner Earth. Lastly, Cay Pacha is the outer Earth where humans live.
The Incas formed a government. Their government was organized and they ruled with a monarchy.
Their king had plenty of work to do. He controlled politics, society, food stores, and commander in
chief of the Army. The king, in my opinion, had an awkward and busy life. He could marry his own
sister, wore silver shoes on his feet, and drank out of gold and silver cups.
Creatively, the Incas achieved many things. Their inventions was their most popular thing. In fact, ...

The Incas traded for lots of things. In fact, they traded materials for roads and bridges and in trade

Its also made of woven grass. One of their famous roads are up a mountain.
The Inca daily life was sort of difficult. If they lived on a mountain, their houses were made of stone
with a built in oven and a pile of mud in the middle of the room. If they lived on the coast, their
houses were made of adobe, cane, and reed. If they lived on plain old land, their houses had no
windows, dark, and was rectangular. It was required to be married. Dishonesty had little opportunity.
It would be awkward because men were able to have more than one wife. Chimu Artisans and local
leaders were able to wear jewelry. Their diet included mostly vegetables and little meat. With their
diet, they only had two meals a day. They had lots of fruit such as sour cherries, custard apples,
elderberries, cactus fruits, pineapple, and a lot of different bananas. Since they didn t eat a lot of meat,

and llama. Even though everyone ate outside, it was disrespectful to eat inside. To end this paragraph,

Hayek Contribution To Economics
In the acclaimed essay The Use of Knowledge in Society Hayek stated, The price system acts as a
kind of machinery for registering change, or a system of telecommunications which enables individual
producers to watch merely the movement of a few pointers, as an engineer might watch the hands of a
few dials, in order to adjust their activities to changes of which they may never know more than is
reflected in the price movement. In his publication, Hayek claimed the economic problem of society
was not, in fact, how men must allocate attainable resources. The problem at hand was amalgamating
a widespread knowledge to secure resources in the hands of men who could best utilize them. Hayek
articulated that money prices serve as mechanisms for communicating knowledge, and the formation
of prices provides insight as to how acting men utilize information to satisfy their needs. The
emergence of money prices represents information which has been dispersed among all people
involved in the processes of production and consumption. Hayek s essay regarding the use of
knowledge in society and the formation of money prices contains vestiges of his forerunners
contributions to economics. His pioneering work in Austrian economics must be attributed to Ludwig

The Role Of Stereotypes In The Workplace
The way to overcome this challenge in the workplace is for companies to host events to celebrate
accomplishments and achievements, so that it can help them balance out their company culture
(Gausepohl, 2016). These events are also done, so that the different generations can learn about each
other. Through these events, companies should try to create a company culture that takes into
consideration of all the generations, so that everyone can work together without any disagreements
about the culture of the company (Srivastava). The next challenge that generations face in the
workplace is communication. In today s workplace, there are many different ways to communicate
with a co worker, such as using letters, emails, telephones, text, ... Show more content on

All the generations believe that there are certain negative stereotypes associated with each age group
and these stereotypes can cause conflicts and challenges in the workplace because one generation will
think they are better than another which will cause the generations to not work well with each other.
For example, the stereotypes that older generations believe that Millennials have are that they are lazy,
entitled, tech obsessed, and overeager while the Millennials view the older generations as being too
stubborn to change and difficult to train (Srivastava). Stereotypes in the workplace is a big challenge
for many organizations that have many generations working together, but the best way to tackle this
problem is for leaders of a company to instill in their workers to not label other generations and not let
the perceived stereotypes change how they view all age groups (Gausepohl, 2016). In addition, the
leaders are also encouraged to get involved in any problems that are forming in their company and
they should take immediate action to resolve them. The main reason why stereotypes in the workplace
is a challenge is because of the pride and ignorance that each generation has that creates these beliefs
about each age group. The way to eliminate this kind of thinking is by focusing more on the ability of
an individual and not the age of the person, so that pride and ignorance does not blind a person s
judgement about another individual

The Play Julius Caesar Performed In The Theatre In The
The play Julius Caesar performed in the theatre in the round, though captivating left the play
confusing in some aspects. In this performance of Julius Caesar the time period was a bit confusion to
pick out. Of course the original is supposed to be depicted in roman times of when there was a
republic present as the government, but in many renditions of the play the director has changed the
setting. The director of this play, Sara Becker, did not make it easy to pick out the intricate and general
details of the performance. The theatre at which this play was performed was very small, which in a
way made the audience feel even more a part of the act. The stage itself was simple, yet sophisticated

If you make bad choices of course the outcome will be what you make of it, but if you make good
decisions and are responsible then you can have a good future. I do not think your future is set no
matter what you choose to do, I believe our future is based upon what we choose. Although it is very
difficult to pick a protagonist and antagonist in this play of Julius Caesar, the protagonist seems to be
Brutus and the two antagonists are Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. Brutus is trying to preserve the
republic of Rome and does everything he does for what he thinks is the good of Rome. His actions of
helping kill Caesar, in his mind, are all good and show the theme of the struggle of power, but also in a
way the free will Brutus had to use to choose to kill Caesar. Both Julius Caesar and Mark Antony are
shown trying to become tyrants in the eyes of Brutus and Cassius. Every action that is portrayed
shows that they all are struggling for who will be in power and if it is their fate or free will that will
make this possible. The primary conflict between the protagonist and antagonist in this play was
definitely who would be in power over Rome. Even though a conflict in the mind of Brutus can be
seen as well if he really made the right choice. The best actor, even though it was a hard choice
between Brutus and Mark Antony, in this play was Alan Brinks. His rendition of Mark Antony was
captivating. He

Temperance Reform In The 19th Century
In the 19th century people did not like what the American society was turning into, so to control
behaviors, and shape cultures the way they wanted. They created reforms to create a better
environment. Reforms were made for temperance, abolitionist, antiprostitution, and other things that
people thought they needed to change in the United States. They would do this by using popular
things like songs, plays, novels, and narratives. Reformers wanted their information to develop to a
large audience, so they could participate in their reforms. Although, not all the reforms were effective
one that was very successful was the temperance reform. The 19th century was when people would
drink large amounts of alcohol, especially men, which is why the temperance reform was put in place.
On average, Americans drank about seven gallons of hard alcohol, including whiskey and other
distilled spirits. These people did not think that drinking was harmful, and they said that alcohol was
cleaner than water. Drinking was becoming out of control. For example, Ten Nights in a Bar Room is
about how Mary s father that goes to the bar way too often, and Mary goes to the bar to tell her father
to come home almost every night because she wants him to come home. One of the times she shows
up, and one the men throws a bottle at her father, but it hits her, and she dies. This shows how out of
control drinking was, and men had no self control. There was so much of biting contempt in the tones,

Generational Differences in the Classroom
Most people have a learning style that mirrors how they were taught when they were younger. It
should be noted that there is not a one size fits all method when it comes to learning. The key to being
able to appeal to each of the different generations is to offer diversity in teaching styles in order to
satisfy the different preferences. As of now, there are four generations that are in the workforce and
those four generations are: The Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X, and the Millennials.
This paper will examine the characteristics of these four generations, how their learning styles differ,
and what to provide to each group in order for their learning experience to be most rewarding.
The Silent Generation was born between the mid 1920 s to early 1940 s. The silent generation was
born in the middle of the Great Depression, and saw their parents struggle with finance issues
(Levonius, 2015). This generation learned to value the money that they had and tended to save more
than spend. This generation was raised in the midst of the World War, therefore this generation
preferred to keep their heads down and stay silent while working hard to achieve slow progress
(Levonius, 2015). In the classroom, members of this generation prefer to be in the background and not
the center of attention. They are a group that respects authority, does what is asked of them and does
not quit the job until complete. This generation grew up in a teacher centric educational system,
meaning that children should be seen and not heard. While they were in school if they spoke out of
turn there was usually some sort of punishment. The silent generation has a learning style that is based
on the classic classroom structure, and what that means is they prefer to sit in front of an instructor
and listen to the lecture. They like for learning to be taught in a linear format with feedback that is
clear (Levonius, 2015). It is common that this generation has decided to return to school simply for the
fact that they want to keep their minds sharp, after retirement. It is important for these adult students

Edna as a Metaphorical Lesbian in Chopin s The Awakening
Elizabeth LeBlanc places The Awakening in an interesting context in her essay The Metaphorical
Lesbian, as gender criticism must, for Chopin wrote the novel at the end of the 19th century, when
homosexuality as an identity emerged culturally, at least in terms of the gay male identity, as proffered
by Oscar Wilde across the Atlantic. Lesbianism, too, started to make its debut on the cultural stage,
particularly in literature. However, although lesbianism started to emerge during Chopin s lifetime, it
seems doubtful that it played any formative role for Edna s characterization. Yet gender criticism often
requires a reading of a text in light of gender and sexuality regardless ... Show more content on

In contrast to a more feminist perspective, LeBlanc views Grand Isle not as a female colony but as
distinctly patriarchal. The fact that mother women seem to rule enhances this reading according to
their own submission into the phallogocentric demands of the island and culture beyond. The island
visitors rejection of Mademoiselle Reisz, a woman who fails to conform to the expectations of a
heterosexually normative society (and a woman who is, according to LeBlanc, culturally coded to be
read as nonheterosexual), underscores the supremely heterosexual patriarchy that dominates Grand
Isle.
LeBlanc wisely steers clear of placing Edna in a lesbian space, choosing instead to place Edna as
something other, a fascinating creature who stands apart and resists definition (242). For LeBlanc,
Robert is the traditionally feminine man on the island who mirrors Edna herself; thus Edna appears to
select a person who represents the masculinized encapsulation of herself, which represents woman
woman identification. However, here I disagree with LeBlanc, for although Robert is admittedly
feminine or unmasculine, I believe masculinity to be a gendered niche that patriarchy must create for
itself out of the markedly, fixedly feminine sphere (an idea or hypothesis I am seeming to create in my
own work). Thus Robert decides instead not to appropriate those qualities that femininity possesses
for a greater masculinity, but instead enters

Robust Video Data Hiding Using Forbidden Zone Data Hiding and Selective Embedding Ersin Esen
and A. Aydin Alatan, Member, IEEE
Abstract Video data hiding is still an important research topic due to the design complexities involved.
We propose a new video data hiding method that makes use of erasure correction capa bility of repeat
accumulate codes and superiority of forbidden zone data hiding. Selective embedding is utilized in the
proposed method to determine host signal samples suitable for data hiding. This method also contains
a temporal synchronization scheme in order to withstand frame drop ... Show more content on

They applied quantization index modulation (QIM) to low frequency DCT coefficients and adapted
the quantization parameter based on MPEG 2 parameters. Furthermore, they varied the embedding
rate depending on the type of the frame. As a result, insertions and erasures occur at the decoder,
which causes de synchronization. They utilized repeat accumulate (RA) codes in order to withstand
erasures. Since they adapted the parameters according to type of frame, each frame is processed
separately. RA codes are already applied in image data hiding. In [3], adaptive block selection results
in de synchronization and they utilized RA codes to handle erasures. Insertions and erasures can be
also handled by convolutional codes as in [4]. The authors used convolutional codes at embedder.
However, the burden is placed on the decoder. Multiple parallel Viterbi decoders are used to correct de
synchronization errors. However, it is observed [4] that such a scheme is successful when the number
of selected host signal samples is much less than the total number of host signal samples. In [5], 3 D
DWT domain is used to hide data. They use LL subband coefficients and do not perform any adaptive
selec tion. Therefore, they do not use error correction codes robust to erasures. Instead, they use BCH
code to increase error correction capability. The authors performed 3 D interleaving in order to get rid
of local burst of errors.

Coastal erosion has affected this coast very badly, first by longshore drift which move sediment down
and create sand spits and loss of land. Something that has affected coastal erosion cause more damage

the dunes, due to urbanization, affects the shoreline increasing significantly the vulnerability to

These processes are affecting the existence of the spit, the lagoon and the land. Tropical storms have
also affected the coast in serious ways, along the years the Baja California peninsula have suffered the

The Sun: Crash Course Astronomy #10 first lab link
1. Explain what the sun is and how it differs from other stars we see in the sky.
The sun is a star that is made up of hydrogen gas. The sun is unlike other stars that we see in the sky
because the sun delivers energy and radiation that allows to living things to exist. Also, the sun is
much closer than the other stars in the sky.
2. Discuss how we are able to feel the sun s heat and see its brightness?
The sun is a big, hot ball of hydrogen gas which enables us to feel the sun s heat and see its brightness.
Every second of every day, the sun transforms over 700 million tons of hydrogen into over 600
million tons of helium. The sun produces so much energy that we can see the sun s brightness and feel
its heat. Hydrogen fusion takes place in the Sun s core and the gas is heated by the energy that is
discharged above the core. Ultimately the gas becomes less dense and the heat from below turns the

Describe sunspots and how they impact the overall energy of the Sun.
Sunspots are a cool spot of plasma and it is capable of increasing the energy that the sun releases
making it brighter.
4. Discuss the difference between solar flares and CME s.
The foremost differentiation between solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) is the scale on
which they transpire. Solar flares are rather little and local, occuring in the low solar atmosphere, near
sunspots, where magnetic field lines are concentrated. CMEs on the other hand are huge. They can
even be bigger than the sun itself!
5. What happened in 2012 and how does it illustrate the importance of understanding the sun and how
it works?
In 2012 a solar storm nearly hit us and if it had hit us we probably wouldn t be here. However, it
completely missed us. Therefore, it is very important for us to understand the sun because it can put
our society to its knees and cripple us for a very long

Media Violence And The Media Essay
Exposure to the media violence may be especially problematic in late adolescence. Television and
other media play a major role in adolescent socialization and identity development by providing
perspectives, values, ideologies, and behavior models (Arnett G., Roberts D. et al.). The socializing
role of television in particular may be ampliļ¬ed by the large amount of time young people spend with
this medium. Speciļ¬cally, 18 to 24 year olds spend more time watching television and movies than
younger youth (Center for Research Excellence 2009). In order to understand the violence in media as
a threat to society, an understanding of why and how violent media cause aggression is vital. In fact,
psychological theories that explain why media violence is such a threat are now well established.
These theories also explain why the observation of television violence stimulates aggressive behavior
in the observer.
The major concern, a substantial portion of television programs and movies contains violence, deļ¬ned
as visual portrayals of acts of physical aggression by one human against another (Huesmann, T.). In
this paper, I will investigate the effects of television on society, because it is important to know how
television influences social life. Considerably studies has been written about the effects of television.

Discuss the biological explanation for phobic disorders
Discuss issues of reliability and validity associated with the classification and diagnosis of phobic
disorders (24 marks)
The biological explanation for the acquisition of phobic disorders establishes that phobias are caused
by genetics, innate influences and the principles of biochemistry. This theory recognizes that an
oversensitive fear response may be inherited, causing abnormal levels of anxiety. This is illustrated in
the basis of inheritance, particularly the adrenergic theory that convicts that those who have an
acquisition to phobic disorders consequently show high levels of arousal in the automatic nervous
system, which leads to increased amounts of adrenaline, thus causing high levels of anxiety.
However this theory lacks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parallel to this, the focus on genetics is Particularly convicted in twin studies, which establish a
comparison between monozygotic twins that are identical and dizygotic twins, which are opposingly
non identical. This distinction can be identified in Torgersens study, which compared MZ and same
sex DZ twins where one proband had an anxiety disorder, and it was discovered that such disorders
were 5x more frequent in MZ twin pairs, who mutually shared identical genetics.
This theory creates an issue, as it only looks at nature s impact as the root cause of phobic disorders
and relishes in not accounting for environmental causes, which are posed by nurture. This aspect of
nurture which is ignored can be questioned in the twin studies as although Torgersen found that
identical twins who share genes are 5x more likely to share an anxiety disorder, it is unclear whether it
is the nature of the genetic makeup which causes the disorder, or the nurture of the twins, as they
would have both gone through the same things in their environment causing the contamination effect.
This is further highlighted through the diathesis stress model formed by Di nardo et al which provides

Forms Of Prejudice And Discrimination
People develop prejudice and basis throughout their lives based on a variety of reasons. Whether these
prejudices are intentional or unintentional, they are something that can persist for many years.
Prejudices and basis manifest thought cultural ideology, stereotypes, and emotions. Once a prejudice
is formed a cycle is created making is almost impossible to change the negative image. Prejudice and
basis are feeling that once acted upon evolve into discrimination. There is no country in the World that
has not experienced some form of discrimination, either as victims or as perpetrators. Webster s
Dictionary defines discrimination as, prejudiced or prejudicial outlook, action, or treatment. The
overall recurring theme in discrimination, is a dominant group seeking to suppress a group they deem
inferior. According to the text, forms of discrimination include; (1) religious; (2) gender; (3) sexual
orientation; (4) national origin, culture, or tribe; (5) racial...; (6) class and caste; (7) political; and (8)
personal characteristics such as disability, age, and appearance (60). The degree of discrimination can
range from minute to extreme. Historically, some of the most egregious forms of discrimination have
been slavery, genocide, and disenfranchisement. Although events such as slavery and genocide have
created an everlasting negative image, society has become desensitized to repeated stereotypical
images in the media. For example, it is common place to in the media that

Industrial Hemp Essay
In his essay, quot;Resources and Environmental Policy, quot; Jan Narveson claims that, quot;there are
no global shortages of anything that we have to worry about. quot; In this claim he makes two basic
assumptions about resources. The first assumption concerns infinite substitutability; no matter what
we need, we will always be able to find something else that will work just as well or better. The
second assumption concerns infinite technological advancement; we will always be able to invent
something that will either allow us to use a resource more efficiently and extend its life span, or we
will invent something that will allow us to exploit a new resource and thus render the previously
scarce resource obsolete. The major problem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first issue I will address is how hemp production can greatly reduce our dependence on
petroleum. For example, hemp seed oil is easily converted to biodiesel. Biodiesel is an alternative fuel
that can be made from any fat or oil and can be used in any diesel engine with little or no
modification. Rudolph Diesel originally designed his engine to run on peanut oil. With a bounty of
raw materials, and cheap and easy backyard production, it was slated to be the quot;people s fuel
quot;. But when Lucas and the Hamill brothers struck oil at Spindletop, Texas, in 1901, ingenuity
inevitably took a back seat to big business investment.
Initial research has shown that biodiesel, liter for liter, generates about 90 percent of the heat of
traditional fossil fuels, and the resulting air emissions are significantly lower in sulphur, carbon
monoxide, and hydrocarbons. Burning these fuels also does not contribute to global warming. Fossil
fuels increase the amount of carbon in the atmosphere because the carbon they release upon
combustion has been locked away for millennia. The carbon released by the combustion of biodiesel
first had to be removed from the atmosphere by the plant that produced the oils it was derived from.
Thus, no net gain occurs when said carbon is released. Biodiesel is also safer for people and the
environment since it is non toxic and biodegradable. Oil spills will no longer be multi million dollar
environmental catastrophes.

Schizophrenia Stigmas, Causes and Brain Activity...
Schizophrenia Stigmas, Causes and Brain Activity Differences
Contrary to popular belief, Schizophrenia is not a mental health disorder but a psychotic based
disorder, in which those affected often experience psychosis. Those experiencing psychosis are known
to lose touch with reality; this loss often results in delusions and/or hallucinations. This leads one to
ask: what are the social stigmas, plausible causes and brain activity differences related to
schizophrenia?
Background
Schizophrenia is broken down into 4 subtypes: Paranoid type, Disorganized type, Undifferentiated
type, and Residual type (Goldberg, 2013). Paranoid type Schizophrenia is the most well known type,
and is often seen as the stereotypical view of Schizophrenia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Psychiatrist D. Fuller Torrey, M.D., states Schizophrenia is the modern day equivalent of leprosy (qtd:
in Tartakovsky, 2014). There are harsh stereotypes surrounding those affected such as a higher level of
danger, universal symptoms, predetermined traits, a need for hospitalization, and even, put simply by
Demian Rose, M.D., Ph. D., a belief Schizophrenics are either psychotics or not. (Tartakovsky, 2014).
These stigmas lead to extremely detrimental effects such as, more homeless sufferers, less job
opportunities, a lower quality of life, lower self esteem, higher stress levels, and more symptoms
(Corrigan, 1998). Like most problems, these stigmas could be corrected with a fairly basic
understanding of Schizophrenia and how it affects its sufferers.
The most common of these stigmas is the higher level of danger. According to professor Dawn I.
Velligan, many people believe those affected by Schizophrenia are more dangerous than the general
public because of their disorder; however, schizophrenics usually tend to be the victims of violence
rather than the perpetrators (Tartakovsky, 2014). In addition, when treated or medicated,
schizophrenics are no more dangerous than the general population. Along these same lines, many
believe schizophrenics experience the same symptoms (Tartakovsky, 2014). There are

Hatshepsut s Impact On The Pharaohs Of Egypt
When we think of the great pharaohs of Egypt, we often think of King Tut and Ramses II, and when
we think of great female pharaohs, we think of Cleopatra. However, one of Egypt s most prominent
pharaohs is none of the above. Arguably one of the most underrated pharaohs in terms of their overall
impact on Egypt is Hatshepsut. Born to King Thutmose I by the principal wife and queen, Hatshepsut
married her half brother Thutmose II at age 12. After the death of her husband, her stepson and next in
line to the throne, Thutmose III, was too young to take the throne, so Hatshepsut took over the reign of

The International Table Tennis Federation
Table tennis is characterized by numerous rules that govern how the game should be played. The game
is mainly characterized by exceptionally fast reactions thereby making rules quite necessary. Players
must allow the ball to bounce once on their side of the court before returning it to the opposite end.
The initial serve is, however, exempted from this requirement. Points are scored if a team fails to keep
the ball in play. The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) instituted some key changes in the
rules of the game following the 2000 Olympics games, which were held in Sidney, Australia. The
amendments were mainly aimed at enhancing the game s viability as a spectator sport that could be
televised. Among the new changes was the increasing of the ball s diameter to 40 millimeters. Soon
thereafter, the ITTF changed the game s scoring system from 21 point to 11 point system
(International Table Tennis Federation, 2014). The serve rotation was also brought down from five
points to two. Soon thereafter, the global federation of the game changed the rules and effectively
prohibited players from hiding balls during service. In keeping with the sport s spirit of fairness, the
rules cushions opponents from being caught by surprise. Rules require that the ball must be tossed a
minimum of 16 centimeters in the air before being served. There are rules governing the course of
events during a match including which team takes the first serve. In order to highlight the numerous

The Unredeemed Captive by John Demos Essay
The Unredeemed Captive by John Demos
John Demos in a sense presents themes that are entirely familiar and conventional. The themes of sin,
retribution, and repentance are very prevalent in his writing. The loss of piety, the failure of spiritual
nerve, the absolute necessity of reform; and the certainty of God s punishment if reform was not
achieved appear throughout his book (Demos). (In this instance, Eunice s failure to return to her native
land is putting her at risk in the eyes of God). For approximately 60 years John Williams who had
been a captive for almost two years, and is one of the main characters of the story writes different

The order of these writings is important as are the time and the setting in which each one was
composed. These writings reveal much of what captivity meant to him. In addition, Demos
incorporates parallels from the Bible such as biblical passages to illustrate or compare the return of
Naomi to Bethlehem in Stephen Williams sermon to put pressure on his sister Euncie to return to
Deefield (Demos 191). Noemi, in effect was redeemed by returning to her home (Demos 192).
The circumstances of captivity were as varied as the number of people involved on both sides.
Prisoner redemption was the process of prisoner exchange that had long been unfair. Captives were
subject to ransom, trade for other key people, and sometimes prisoners decided to remain in captivity
since escape was very dangerous. Acculturation which included adoption and repatriation were
choices for some of them as well. For example, Eunice s inability to speak English and her personal
appearance announce her loyalty to other standards (Demos 146). She had been fully integrated or
Indianized (Demos 142). Eunice comes of age in her adoptive community, secure, and increasingly
well integrated. The trauma of capture including as it did the deaths of her mother and

The Application Of A Model, Paradigm And Needs Assessment...
The Application of A Model, Paradigm and Needs Assessment Results on Program Modifications In
an effort to ensure the program has a positive impact on the students mental health, the model,
paradigm and needs assessment results must drive any program modifications and services. According
to Erford (2014), a perception based needs assessment allows counselors to address the needs of
individuals in a community. A college community needs assessment, using secondary data sources, is
an example of how assessment results can assist with the initial design of the program, while also
serving as data indicators for program modification. For example, if the desired outcome is to increase
Black/African American student usage of health and wellness center services, the intake and sign in
sheets can serve as a secondary source of student usage. Another example is using a pre post wellness
inventory to assess if students have an increase in their knowledge and usage of demonstrated and
discussed wellness strategies. Also, retention rates and graduation rates can also serve as indicators of
program impact. Additionally, Tyler s psychosocial competence model and the Afrocentric paradigm
can also impact program modifications. The example of the wellness inventory that assesses wellness
strategy usage will indicate whether or not Tyler s psychosocial competence model is an acceptable
framework for the program. If so, then the model can impact how particular wellness strategies are

A Critical outline of the main features of Functionalism,...
Sociology, the study of society; has been adapted by many sociologists so as to put across their own
theories. The most important Sociologists of the early 19th century were Emile Durkeim, Karl Marx
and Max Weber; a common factor with all these men is that they were all influenced by the world in
which they lived.
I intend to, throughout this essay, explain these three different theories, evaluate them and also
critically outline their main features.
The Functionalist sees society as built up and working like the human body, made up of interrelated
parts, which function for or contribute to the maintenance of society as a whole. (Cited: Browne.K.

He saw society as a structure, which was divided into two parts, the infrastructure and the
superstructure. The Infrastructure shapes the superstructures, in other words; the economic system will
shape the rest of society.
Marx saw contradictions in all societies; for example, in a capitalist society there is a conflict of
interest. The company owners employ the workers at a low rate but subsequently gain substantial
profits and rewards. In this instance one group gains, at the expense of the other. Marx believed there
would eventually be a revolt against the ruling classes (capitalist). This would result in the
disappearance of the classes and therefore the disappearance of oppression and exploitation. This
could only happen if the subject class knew they were being exploited but this would take time
because the
infrastructure was far more powerful. Another problem for the subject class was that political and
legal systems were in favour of capitalism, this aided class domination. Therefore, capitalism was seen
to be just and reasonable rather than oppressive and exploitive. Marx believed that capitalism would
eventually destroy itself.
A criticism of Marxism is that it sees individuals as a product of their social system, and pictures
people as unable to make up their own, minds and take initiative. Cristianity was a

Topic: China s long standing battle against water pollution.
Introduction
Water pollution happens when excessive contamination in water body which is far beyond the ability
for the natural ecosystem to accommodate the contaminant. (Hu Cheng,2013) In 2006, nearly half of
major cities in China did not satisfied drinking water standard (OECD 2007). Water quality has been
dropped dramatically in China over the last few decades due to significant growth of pollutants
discharge to natural water bodies and increased abstraction of freshwater from the environment.(Hu
Cheng,2013)The most three dominant reasons for water pollution are industrial wastewater,
agricultural activities and urban runoff.(Huang et al.2010)Water pollution has become a very serious
environmental issue in China. In this article, it will firstly demonstrate how the industrial, municipal
and agricultural impact water quality and society in China. Secondly, the Chinese government s
reaction on water pollution treatment and possible challenges when implementing the water protection
policies in China. Lastly, suggesting further solutions for water treatment in China.

Rapid expansion and development of large scale energy and metallurgy production caused increasing
industrial wastewater discharge.(Hu Cheng,2013)China has experienced the enormous industrial
transformation over the past three decades. Since 1949 industrial wastewater in China

Americans lay it out how it is and Asians tend to sugar coat it. Other distinctive behaviors that

Sekhmet, The Goddess Of The Gods And Goddesss In Ancient...
Ancient Egyptian civilization flourished with art and culture. Many aspects of Egyptian life were over
the top. One of those areas in particular was the way Egyptians worshipped their gods and goddesses
and depicted them in art. Their deities were prevalent in every part of Egyptian life; they were all
important, even if only to a local nome. One chiefly important goddess portrayed throughout Egyptian
artwork was Sekhmet, the goddess of war. Sekhmet, though a goddess filled with bloodlust and a
belligerent nature, was not only the goddess of war, but also goddess of divine retribution, pestilence,
vengeance, and conquest. Both a warrior and solar goddess, Sekhmet was represented as a lioness and
was often portrayed with a human body and the head of a lioness. In some temples, tame lions were
even kept to honor her. Sometimes, as seen in Figure 1, she was shown in her cobra crown as well as
with a sun disk. The sun disk represents her connection to Re, the sun god, as well as her being a solar
deity. The rearing cobra or uraeus also appeared as a sign that the cobra and Sekhmet were collectively
protecting the pharaoh. (The Metropolitan Museum). Because of this uraeus she adorned, Sekhmet
was sometimes associated with Wadjet, the goddess of Lower Egypt.
Most often though, she was associated with Bastet, another feline goddess, though one of protection
rather than vengeance. Bastet was sometimes seen as Sekhmet s gentle counterpart. And although

When African Americans first arrived in American colonies in 1619, religion and wealth were the
determining factors of superiority. Most labor was performed by indentured servants of European

American slaves were shipped over and considered to be a never ending supply of labor. Colonial law

Lower class Europeans thus obtained more rights and had access to better job opportunities as they

Compromises Of 1850
The 1850s were a time of attempted compromise when compromise was no longer possible. The
Union was becoming divided through many events in the time leading into the Civil War. The North
and South had too many hostilities to account for. Socially, the North and the South could not stand
what the other would do or say with anything. Politically, the government was completely divided and
undecided. And economically, the South began to prosper as the North began to struggle. Thus, during
the 1850s, socially, politically, and economically there was not any compromise that could fix the
problems beginning to occur. In the 1850s, the North and South could not agree on anything and were
in constant disagreements. In 1850, Henry Clay created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This made the south feel that slavery was okay since they took care of their slaves providing them
food, clothing, and shelter. This would make the slavery issue more undecided since it seemed
humanely correct. It would create a more difficult way to compromise since they all knew it was
wrong, but there were also rights of it. The literature made the compromise almost impossible to be
agreed upon since the reasons were so indecisive towards if slavery was correct or wrong. Another
issue also created stir in the country and that was Harper s Ferry. Harper s Ferry was when John
Brown captured an idea of arming and freeing slaves. He thought slaves would help, but he was
wrong. He fought with the army, captured, tried, and hung. The North condemned the violence but the
South did not believe them and saw Brown s raids as final proof the North s true intentions, to use
slave revolts to destroy the south. This showed that there would not be any more compromise to go
over since the South felt they knew exactly what was happening and wouldn t take anything for an
answer. The countries people were fighting and there was nothing to do. On the other hand, politicians
were in an uproar on what should be done and could not come to a solution for anything. The
government had become divided into two over the problems that were being started in the country.

Mortality and Leading Causes of Death for Volusia County. Cancer has been the leading cause of
death for Volusia County since 2006, with heart disease at a close second. The county s age related
death rate from cancer is 182.3 per 100,000 people as compared to the state s total of 160.4, and the
national average of 179.1 (Fl Dept of Health). Volusia also has a greater rate of adolescent cigarette
smokers, the state average being 6.1%, and Volusia County being 8.3%. Volusia County s adult
smoker population also is greater than the state average, 23.3 vs. 17.2. Volusia residents suffer from
heart disease greater than most other Florida counties. In 2012 there were 112.7 deaths per 100,000
people as apposed to the state total of 103.5 and the national total of 179.1. Another concern is with
the growing obesity population in which comes with it increased risk for hypertension, heart disease,
and many other diseases. Both the county and state totals are approximately 82% higher than the
national rate. A group of Volusia County residents, called Healthy Volusia, has made the problem with
obesity a top priority (Dept of Health).
Access to Healthcare 496,950 people reside in Volusia County (2012). Out of the 67 Florida counties,
Volusia ranks 23rd in clinical care. Volusia residents have access to many hospitals and clinics and that
number is growing quickly. As of 2005 there were 1016.010 general practitioners per 100,000 people.

Food Bank And Moral Model Analysis
Being able to acknowledge the one in need of help, really can make a difference. There are many ways
of helping through the small deeds, but also through the greater ones, such as food banks. The two
models discussed in class covered a moral model, in which help is based off of a personal
characteristic (Collver: September 20, 2017). And the other is the charity model in which it is the
practice of help emerging from the notions of mortality (attitudes and beliefs about the right and
wrong) (Collver: September 20, 2017). Both models are influenced by a moral discourse of
deservingness. Within the learnings in class and through discussions in tutorials, I can reflect that the
notion of helping through food banks or from any form of help in that matter, is not always wanted.
Some individuals refuse to accept the help they receive because they believe that others think of them
as weak . There is often pity associated with wanting to help. However, there are also people who take
food banks for granted because they are getting free food and not making an effort to change or find
ways to get them out of that state. Food banks put a lot of effort in meeting the standards of ... Show

Analysis Of The Poem Daughter Of Persia Essay
Sattareh Farman Farmaian paints a vivid picture of her journey from childhood to her adult life and
her encounters of the Islamic Revolution as they unfold in her home country of Iran. Even when she is
studying or working in the United States, Farman Farmaian is in constant contact with her relatives
back home as well as constantly reading the news of the area as it unfolds, allowing her to give the
best reactions to these events as they impacted her and her family directly. Her close relation to these
events throughout the story Daughter of Persia allows Farman Farmaian to give one of the best
accounts of someone who lived through the Islamic Revolution. Reading through Daughter of Persia I
was most surprised by the sheer amount of feeling that was put in Farman Farmaian s writing. Early
on, when the Farman Farmaian home is being uprooted to make way for a road by order of the Shah,
she, Felt [He] was tearing apart not just our physical home, but our very selves (Farman Farmaian
100). This is more understandable to be stating such wild emotions because for the first time, Sattareh
and her family are becoming exposed to the outside world against their will. However, it is in times
like the Tehran demonstrations when Sattareh is comparing her thoughts to those of the Shah that her
overly involved feeling can be seen. The Shah was, Talking every day to the ambassadors of the
United States and Great Britain, asking them what to do. I wanted to scream with frustration at

Overview of the Healthcare System in Denmark
Health care Infrastructure and Services:
Denmark is a small high income country with a high population density, is governed by a
constitutional monarchy, has a central parliament and is administratively divided into regions,
municipalities and has 2 dependencies (Greenland and the Faroe Islands) (Kravitz Treasure, 2009). It
has a national health service (funded by general taxation) and a decentralized healthcare system in
which the individual regions run most services and the municipalities are responsible for some public
health services (Kravitz Treasure, 2009). However, a process of (re) centralization (under the
structural reform of 2007) has been taking place, which has lowered the number of regions from 14 to

Any dentist whose treatment figures are more or less than 40% of the regional average has to provide
an explanation (Kravitz Treasure, 2009). Dentists are paid by way of item of service fee.
Government Expenditure on Dental Healthcare
The Danish government spent 9.5% of its GDP on Healthcare in 2006, whereas only 0.19% of the
GDP was spent on Oral Health in the same year (Kravitz Treasure, 2009). The government pays
approximately 85% of the national costs of health care, while the remaining 15% come from
individuals through co payments for treatments (Kravitz Treasure, 2009). However, for dental care it s
almost the opposite, government only funds 20% of the national cost for adult dental services and the
remaining 80% is paid by the dentist (Kravitz Treasure, 2009).
There is national income tax (which funds the national health service) and the lowest rate is 28%,
while the maximum is 55.3% for income above 65, 000 euros per year (Kravitz Treasure, 2009).
Dental treatment is exempt form sales tax/value added tax (VAT) but costs related to purchase of
dental equipment, instruments and materials are subject to VAT (Kravitz Treasure, 2009).
Oral Hygiene Habits and Disease prevalence
According to the Danish National Board of Health (NBH), in 2007, 72% of the 12 year old children
had a DMFT (decayed, missing, filled teeth) score of zero and only 18% of Danish adults above 64

Amelia Earhart Contributions
Over 100 years ago, when humanity looked for new places to conquer, two men looked to the skies.
Wilbur and Orville Wright built the first working motor airplane, and after that day, the world took a
huge interest in aviation, causing many leading pioneers and innovators in the aerospace field to
emerge, revolutionizing the way we look at the skies. Amelia Earhart was one of the first pilots to
revolutionize the skies, and what made her particularly iconic was the fact that she was one of the first
woman to fly. She discovered her love for flight after watching the Royal Flying Corps train in
Toronto, Canada whilst she served as a Red Cross nurse in WWI. She then had her first airplane ride
in December 1920 in California with WWI pilot Frank Hawks. After this confirmation of her love for
aviation, she began lessons with instructor Neta Snook, another early woman pilot. Amelia did all she
could (taking odd jobs) in order to pay for her lessons and then her first airplane: a Kinner Airster. She
passed her flight test and got her license in December 1921, and afterwards she set out to define
herself as a pioneer in the field of aviation, becoming the first woman to fly solo 14,000 feet above sea
level. Her biggest accomplishment was flying solo across the Atlantic Ocean, as she was the first
woman to do so. She continued to fly for many years, but then on a flight outside of the United States,
both she and her plane were lost near the Bermuda Triangle, and no wreckage was

Bartholdt who was the found of the American Interparliamentry Union, proposed a resolution
requesting the governments of all the world to send delegates to a second international conference.

When the cirucular was published, the Russo Japanese war was still continuing at the time. It was not
until 1905 after the Treaty of Portsmouth (which ended the Russo Japanese war largely thanks to
Roosevelt) that the Czar called upon his ambassador in Washington to, Communicate to the President
[his] desire to convoke a second conference at the Hague (Hull, pg 5). By the time an invitation was
sent to the nations and a program of topics were made, it was already April in 1906. Yet again there
was another hold back to the conference thanks to the American Republics. This Latin American union
of sorts was having a conference in Rio Janeiro which postponed the Hague conference till 1907. The
final date of the 2nd Hague conference was June 15th 1907 and because of the success of the first one
it was suggested to have a second one at the same place in hopes for a great result. The conference can

The Recidivism Rate of Juvenile Sex Offenders between Uses...
The Recidivism Rate of Juvenile Sex Offenders between Uses of Legal Sentencing as Adults or
Utilizing Psychological Treatment
It is typically thought that sex offenders are the type of individual that needs to be tried in our courts
and then sentenced because there is really no hope for an individual that harms the most innocent of
our society. But there just may be an exception to this way of thinking. Juveniles who at one point
themselves may have been victims, and as they have grown into adolescence not knowing why they
are thinking the way they are, turn around and abuse others. Then what happens is that these
adolescents once found out, are then tried in our courts as adults because in the mind of the court they
are committing an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The victims of this type of offender are for the most part male. (Gunby) Another type of offender that
researchers are beginning to study, that is the offender with high levels of psychopathic traits. There is
what the study referred to as modest information on this type of offender compared to their adult
counterpart. But from what they have studied thus far is that juvenile sex offenders with high levels of
psychopathic traits had more severe antisocial histories, and had higher rates of general and violent
recidivism. They were also more likely to use weapons or threats during the sexual offense, and were
more likely to recidivate when released from prison. (Lawing) The reasons that an adolescent may
become a sex offender are as varied as the types of offenders.
Causes
Juvenile sexual offenders more frequently experienced internalizing problems, had poor self esteem,
social isolation and more frequently experienced sexual abuse in their early childhoods than non
sexual offenders. In addition, juvenile sexual abusers also exhibited more problems in their peer
relationships. There is other research that has shown substantial evidence for a relationship between
juvenile sexually abusive behavior and family dysfunction, and violence. Typically speaking abusers
grew up in dysfunctional families characterized by inconsistent care, known parental criminal
behavior and substance use. They

Lysergic Acid Diethylamide Essay
Lysergic Acid Diethylamide
The late sixties were a time filled with sex, drugs, and rock and roll. A huge part of American culture
at the time was focused around these three things. Musicians possessed a tremendous amount of social
influence, and like wise, society put a lot of emphasis on the lives and attitudes of musicians. Of the
rock groups from this time period, the Beatles were by far the most influential. The British rock group
was probably the most catalytic band in rock and roll history. Although they came together in the
shadow of the Beatles, another band of that era was Jefferson Airplane. Jefferson Airplane was
deemed the first of the San Francisco psychedelic rock groups. Jefferson Airplane was always

LSD alters your sense of direction, distance, and time (KidsHealth). In the 1960 s many rock groups
began using LSD and other drugs. Various songs would reflect experiences band members had
undergone while using narcotics. It is commonly speculated that Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is
just this type of song. Many of the lines from the Beatles song could be related to the sensations of an
acid trip. The marmalade skies, cellophane flowers , and rocking horse people depicted in the song
could represent the type of images a person might see under the influence of LSD. The world Lennon
portrays with his lyrics is abstract, psychedelic, and dream like, very much akin to what a person
would see on an acid trip. Various people have noted that the first letter in each of the key title words:
Lucy, Sky, and Diamonds, spell out LSD. John Lennon claims that the connection is merely
coincidental and that he had no intention of incorporating LSD into the song in any way. Lennon told
reporters in a 1980 interview, it was purely unconscious that it came out to be LSDit s not an acid song
(Ultimate). Despite Lennon s pleas of innocence, it was a well known fact at the time that the Beatles
were experimenting with LSD. Many fans, parents, and critics saw this song as John Lennon s praise
of the drug.
It was public knowledge that Jefferson Airplane used LSD. It is clear that White Rabbit is about LSD;
Jefferson Airplane offers no defense to the matter. Lines such as one

The Long-Term Effects Of Breaking God s Law
After David s sin with Bathsheba, God did not turn his back on him and demanded that he discontinue
the marital relationship with her since her husband was dead and she was released from that law. The
law stated that For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he

God punished David and brought upon him the evil consequences of his sin to teach us the
consequences of breaking God s Law. The long term effects of the affair, lead to David s soldiers Joab
putting Uriah on the front lines to be killed. David thought that his punishment was over. He was then
visited by Nathan. Nathan told David what the Lord told him and how he had committed adultery. In 2

  • 3. Autoimmune Deficiencies Of Autoimmune Deficiency Autoimmune Deficiencies are very complex and misunderstood diseases in the world today. Most people are uneducated and unaware of what these diseases actually are and the trials people diagnosed with these illnesses face. Due to their lack of education there is also a lack of compassion shown; causing an awkward, silent tension between people. Lupus is a subcategory of the Autoimmune Deficiencies. Those with this tend to be silent about their struggle, causing it to be unnoticed in the world. However, there have been efforts made medically to give these people a true voice. In order to give them a voice people must know what Lupus actually is, the causes and symptoms of it, and new research that can help improve the quality of life for those who have the disease. Autoimmune Deficiency is a medical term used that means that a person s immune system literally attacks and eats their issue. Their body does not know how to properly indicate the difference between healthy and unhealthy tissue so they produce antibodies that completely eat both sets of tissue. Lupus performs the same function in a person s body, but it is a very hard disease to actually diagnose because it can mimic various other diseases. It goes by the scientific name Systemic lupus erythematosus, with the common name Lupus being used in everyday terms. This illness is one of chronic pain that can affect the body both inwardly and outwardly. Inwardly, the body `s immune system eats the issue and can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The walls were adorned with frescoes by different artists, such as Pietro Perugino, who painted Christ delivering the keys to St. Peter there in 1482. The ceiling program, which was probably formulated with the help of a theologian from the Vatican, is centered around several scenes from the Old Testament beginning with the Creation of the World and ending at the story of Noah and the Flood. The public first saw Michelangelo s frescoes on the vaulted ceiling of the Sistine Chapel on November 1, 1512 but some of those vaults seen are not real. Sant Ignazio Church Although Pozzo had undertaken numerous commissions to decorate Jesuit churches with Biblical art using mural paintings marked by foreshortening as well as various illusionistic devices, such as fake ceilings, gilding, balustrades and other trompe l oeil architectural motifs the decoration of the Church of Sant Ignazio was his first major fresco series. The main theme, a symbol of the Apotheosis of St Ignatius, was painted on the ceiling of the nave, which looks like a lofty vaulted roof embellished by statues, even though the ceiling is actually completely flat. Pozzo opened up the nave ceiling further by painting an illusionistic cupola, open to the sky, and populated with upward floating figures. • 5. Sartre s Existentialism Shortcomings of Sartre s Existentialism [1] Philosophy is the manner in which we describe the world around us. We develop our moral code and way of life based off of this definition, so the philosophy that we adhere to is a guiding factor in the way in which we live. In his speech Existentialism is a Humanism, Jean Paul Sartre defends his philosophy, existentialism, against its critics by arguing that for human existence, precedes essence (20) because we have free will. Due to this, our essence is constructed through the actions we choose to take, so that one is no more than the sum of his parts (Sartre 37), making each person responsible for themself. Sartre argues that this leads to anguish that people are responsible for not just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As there is no deterministic god or destiny, people are the sole determiners of their actions, according to Sartre, and thus fully responsible for them. [3] Sartre argues that each action taken by a person is representative of his or her idea of the proper way of life in that situation. He provides an example in support of this: if a person joins a Christian trade union, surely then he or she must believe that being a Christian is the proper lifestyle for all people, otherwise they would not advocate for it personally. Likewise, if a person becomes a Communist, they must hold the belief that Communism is the best form of government and should be instituted everywhere, otherwise they would not desire to live under it (24). In addition, Sartre argues that people would never choose evil, but rather always good (24), as it would be illogical to make a choice that is against their own interest. Therefore, when making decisions, one is proclaiming what he or she believes is best for all people. The idea that in choosing myself, I choose man (25) leads to an understanding of a vital component of existentialism anguish. [4] Anguish, defined by Sartre, is the realization that one s idea of how one should live is not just limited to oneself, but extended to all humans. When one acts, they are declaring to the world their ideal human image. After introspection, the grave realization that one has a grand responsibility to all others thrusts a ... • 7. Hayek Contribution To Economics In the acclaimed essay The Use of Knowledge in Society Hayek stated, The price system acts as a kind of machinery for registering change, or a system of telecommunications which enables individual producers to watch merely the movement of a few pointers, as an engineer might watch the hands of a few dials, in order to adjust their activities to changes of which they may never know more than is reflected in the price movement. In his publication, Hayek claimed the economic problem of society was not, in fact, how men must allocate attainable resources. The problem at hand was amalgamating a widespread knowledge to secure resources in the hands of men who could best utilize them. Hayek articulated that money prices serve as mechanisms for communicating knowledge, and the formation of prices provides insight as to how acting men utilize information to satisfy their needs. The emergence of money prices represents information which has been dispersed among all people involved in the processes of production and consumption. • 8. The Role Of Stereotypes In The Workplace The way to overcome this challenge in the workplace is for companies to host events to celebrate accomplishments and achievements, so that it can help them balance out their company culture (Gausepohl, 2016). These events are also done, so that the different generations can learn about each other. Through these events, companies should try to create a company culture that takes into consideration of all the generations, so that everyone can work together without any disagreements about the culture of the company (Srivastava). The next challenge that generations face in the workplace is communication. In today s workplace, there are many different ways to communicate with a co worker, such as using letters, emails, telephones, text, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All the generations believe that there are certain negative stereotypes associated with each age group and these stereotypes can cause conflicts and challenges in the workplace because one generation will think they are better than another which will cause the generations to not work well with each other. For example, the stereotypes that older generations believe that Millennials have are that they are lazy, entitled, tech obsessed, and overeager while the Millennials view the older generations as being too stubborn to change and difficult to train (Srivastava). Stereotypes in the workplace is a big challenge for many organizations that have many generations working together, but the best way to tackle this problem is for leaders of a company to instill in their workers to not label other generations and not let the perceived stereotypes change how they view all age groups (Gausepohl, 2016). In addition, the leaders are also encouraged to get involved in any problems that are forming in their company and they should take immediate action to resolve them. The main reason why stereotypes in the workplace is a challenge is because of the pride and ignorance that each generation has that creates these beliefs about each age group. The way to eliminate this kind of thinking is by focusing more on the ability of an individual and not the age of the person, so that pride and ignorance does not blind a person s judgement about another individual ... In this performance of Julius Caesar the time period was a bit confusion to pick out. Of course the original is supposed to be depicted in roman times of when there was a republic present as the government, but in many renditions of the play the director has changed the setting. The director of this play, Sara Becker, did not make it easy to pick out the intricate and general details of the performance. If you make bad choices of course the outcome will be what you make of it, but if you make good decisions and are responsible then you can have a good future. I do not think your future is set no matter what you choose to do, I believe our future is based upon what we choose. Although it is very difficult to pick a protagonist and antagonist in this play of Julius Caesar, the protagonist seems to be Brutus and the two antagonists are Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. Brutus is trying to preserve the republic of Rome and does everything he does for what he thinks is the good of Rome. His actions of helping kill Caesar, in his mind, are all good and show the theme of the struggle of power, but also in a way the free will Brutus had to use to choose to kill Caesar. Both Julius Caesar and Mark Antony are shown trying to become tyrants in the eyes of Brutus and Cassius. Every action that is portrayed shows that they all are struggling for who will be in power and if it is their fate or free will that will make this possible. The primary conflict between the protagonist and antagonist in this play was definitely who would be in power over Rome. They created reforms to create a better environment. Reforms were made for temperance, abolitionist, antiprostitution, and other things that people thought they needed to change in the United States. They would do this by using popular things like songs, plays, novels, and narratives. Reformers wanted their information to develop to a large audience, so they could participate in their reforms. Although, not all the reforms were effective one that was very successful was the temperance reform. The 19th century was when people would drink large amounts of alcohol, especially men, which is why the temperance reform was put in place. On average, Americans drank about seven gallons of hard alcohol, including whiskey and other distilled spirits. These people did not think that drinking was harmful, and they said that alcohol was cleaner than water. Drinking was becoming out of control. For example, Ten Nights in a Bar Room is about how Mary s father that goes to the bar way too often, and Mary goes to the bar to tell her father to come home almost every night because she wants him to come home. • 11. The Characteristics Of Generational Differences In The... Jordan Clary Professor Debra Owens Human Resource Management 27 September 2017 Generational Differences in the Classroom Most people have a learning style that mirrors how they were taught when they were younger. It should be noted that there is not a one size fits all method when it comes to learning. The key to being able to appeal to each of the different generations is to offer diversity in teaching styles in order to satisfy the different preferences. As of now, there are four generations that are in the workforce and those four generations are: The Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X, and the Millennials. This paper will examine the characteristics of these four generations, how their learning styles differ, and what to provide to each group in order for their learning experience to be most rewarding. The Silent Generation was born between the mid 1920 s to early 1940 s. The silent generation was born in the middle of the Great Depression, and saw their parents struggle with finance issues (Levonius, 2015). This generation learned to value the money that they had and tended to save more than spend. This generation was raised in the midst of the World War, therefore this generation preferred to keep their heads down and stay silent while working hard to achieve slow progress (Levonius, 2015). In the classroom, members of this generation prefer to be in the background and not the center of attention. They are a group that respects authority, does what is asked of them and does not quit the job until complete. This generation grew up in a teacher centric educational system, meaning that children should be seen and not heard. While they were in school if they spoke out of turn there was usually some sort of punishment. The silent generation has a learning style that is based on the classic classroom structure, and what that means is they prefer to sit in front of an instructor and listen to the lecture. They like for learning to be taught in a linear format with feedback that is clear (Levonius, 2015). It is common that this generation has decided to return to school simply for the fact that they want to keep their minds sharp, after retirement. It is important for these adult students to ... Edna as a Metaphorical Lesbian in Chopin s The Awakening Elizabeth LeBlanc places The Awakening in an interesting context in her essay The Metaphorical Lesbian, as gender criticism must, for Chopin wrote the novel at the end of the 19th century, when homosexuality as an identity emerged culturally, at least in terms of the gay male identity, as proffered by Oscar Wilde across the Atlantic. Lesbianism, too, started to make its debut on the cultural stage, particularly in literature. However, although lesbianism started to emerge during Chopin s lifetime, it seems doubtful that it played any formative role for Edna s characterization. Yet gender criticism often requires a reading of a text in light of gender and sexuality regardless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast to a more feminist perspective, LeBlanc views Grand Isle not as a female colony but as distinctly patriarchal. The fact that mother women seem to rule enhances this reading according to their own submission into the phallogocentric demands of the island and culture beyond. The island visitors rejection of Mademoiselle Reisz, a woman who fails to conform to the expectations of a heterosexually normative society (and a woman who is, according to LeBlanc, culturally coded to be read as nonheterosexual), underscores the supremely heterosexual patriarchy that dominates Grand Isle. LeBlanc wisely steers clear of placing Edna in a lesbian space, choosing instead to place Edna as something other, a fascinating creature who stands apart and resists definition (242). For LeBlanc, Robert is the traditionally feminine man on the island who mirrors Edna herself; thus Edna appears to select a person who represents the masculinized encapsulation of herself, which represents woman woman identification. However, here I disagree with LeBlanc, for although Robert is admittedly feminine or unmasculine, I believe masculinity to be a gendered niche that patriarchy must create for itself out of the markedly, fixedly feminine sphere (an idea or hypothesis I am seeming to create in my own work). Thus Robert decides instead not to appropriate those qualities that femininity possesses for a greater masculinity, but instead enters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These questions have opened up debates by many historians, such as Lucy Worsley, Lindsey Hughes and Matthew S. Anderson. As Lucy Worsley talks about in the TV Show, this year of Peter travelling incognito is the year that changed Russia forever . However, whether this improved politics, the economy and the social attitude in Russia is still open to debate among historians. An argument that is still put in place today is the main Westernisation came from Catherine the Great, and wasn t from Peter. Catherine in 1785, 60 years after the death of Peter I, issued the Charter of the Nobility. The Charter by some is seen as Revolutionary and instituted Civil Rights in Russia. This has been questioned as it is Civil Rights for the wealthy minority, however it was a great step for Russia. Aydin Alatan, Member, IEEE Abstract Video data hiding is still an important research topic due to the design complexities involved. We propose a new video data hiding method that makes use of erasure correction capa bility of repeat accumulate codes and superiority of forbidden zone data hiding. Selective embedding is utilized in the proposed method to determine host signal samples suitable for data hiding. They applied quantization index modulation (QIM) to low frequency DCT coefficients and adapted the quantization parameter based on MPEG 2 parameters. Furthermore, they varied the embedding rate depending on the type of the frame. As a result, insertions and erasures occur at the decoder, which causes de synchronization. They utilized repeat accumulate (RA) codes in order to withstand erasures. Since they adapted the parameters according to type of frame, each frame is processed separately. RA codes are already applied in image data hiding. In [3], adaptive block selection results in de synchronization and they utilized RA codes to handle erasures. Insertions and erasures can be also handled by convolutional codes as in [4]. The authors used convolutional codes at embedder. However, the burden is placed on the decoder. Multiple parallel Viterbi decoders are used to correct de synchronization errors. However, it is observed [4] that such a scheme is successful when the number of selected host signal samples is much less than the total number of host signal samples. In [5], 3 D DWT domain is used to hide data. They use LL subband coefficients and do not perform any adaptive selec tion. Therefore, they do not use error correction codes robust to erasures. Instead, they use BCH code to increase error correction capability. The authors performed 3 D interleaving in order to get rid of local burst of errors. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Television and other media play a major role in adolescent socialization and identity development by providing perspectives, values, ideologies, and behavior models (Arnett G., Roberts D. et al.). The socializing role of television in particular may be ampliļ¬ed by the large amount of time young people spend with this medium. Speciļ¬cally, 18 to 24 year olds spend more time watching television and movies than younger youth (Center for Research Excellence 2009). In order to understand the violence in media as a threat to society, an understanding of why and how violent media cause aggression is vital. In fact, psychological theories that explain why media violence is such a threat are now well established. These theories also explain why the observation of television violence stimulates aggressive behavior in the observer. The major concern, a substantial portion of television programs and movies contains violence, deļ¬ned as visual portrayals of acts of physical aggression by one human against another (Huesmann, T.). Discuss the biological explanation for phobic disorders Discuss issues of reliability and validity associated with the classification and diagnosis of phobic disorders (24 marks) The biological explanation for the acquisition of phobic disorders establishes that phobias are caused by genetics, innate influences and the principles of biochemistry. This theory recognizes that an oversensitive fear response may be inherited, causing abnormal levels of anxiety. This is illustrated in the basis of inheritance, particularly the adrenergic theory that convicts that those who have an acquisition to phobic disorders consequently show high levels of arousal in the automatic nervous system, which leads to increased amounts of adrenaline, thus causing high levels of anxiety. This distinction can be identified in Torgersens study, which compared MZ and same sex DZ twins where one proband had an anxiety disorder, and it was discovered that such disorders were 5x more frequent in MZ twin pairs, who mutually shared identical genetics. This theory creates an issue, as it only looks at nature s impact as the root cause of phobic disorders and relishes in not accounting for environmental causes, which are posed by nurture. This aspect of nurture which is ignored can be questioned in the twin studies as although Torgersen found that identical twins who share genes are 5x more likely to share an anxiety disorder, it is unclear whether it is the nature of the genetic makeup which causes the disorder, or the nurture of the twins, as they would have both gone through the same things in their environment causing the contamination effect. For example, hemp seed oil is easily converted to biodiesel. Biodiesel is an alternative fuel that can be made from any fat or oil and can be used in any diesel engine with little or no modification. Rudolph Diesel originally designed his engine to run on peanut oil. With a bounty of raw materials, and cheap and easy backyard production, it was slated to be the quot;people s fuel quot;. But when Lucas and the Hamill brothers struck oil at Spindletop, Texas, in 1901, ingenuity inevitably took a back seat to big business investment. Initial research has shown that biodiesel, liter for liter, generates about 90 percent of the heat of traditional fossil fuels, and the resulting air emissions are significantly lower in sulphur, carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbons. Burning these fuels also does not contribute to global warming. Fossil fuels increase the amount of carbon in the atmosphere because the carbon they release upon combustion has been locked away for millennia. The carbon released by the combustion of biodiesel first had to be removed from the atmosphere by the plant that produced the oils it was derived from. Thus, no net gain occurs when said carbon is released. Biodiesel is also safer for people and the environment since it is non toxic and biodegradable. Oil spills will no longer be multi million dollar environmental catastrophes. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Players must allow the ball to bounce once on their side of the court before returning it to the opposite end. The initial serve is, however, exempted from this requirement. Points are scored if a team fails to keep the ball in play. The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) instituted some key changes in the rules of the game following the 2000 Olympics games, which were held in Sidney, Australia. The amendments were mainly aimed at enhancing the game s viability as a spectator sport that could be televised. Among the new changes was the increasing of the ball s diameter to 40 millimeters. For example, if the desired outcome is to increase Black/African American student usage of health and wellness center services, the intake and sign in sheets can serve as a secondary source of student usage. The Infrastructure shapes the superstructures, in other words; the economic system will shape the rest of society. Marx saw contradictions in all societies; for example, in a capitalist society there is a conflict of interest. The company owners employ the workers at a low rate but subsequently gain substantial profits and rewards. In this instance one group gains, at the expense of the other. Marx believed there would eventually be a revolt against the ruling classes (capitalist). This would result in the disappearance of the classes and therefore the disappearance of oppression and exploitation. This could only happen if the subject class knew they were being exploited but this would take time because the infrastructure was far more powerful. Another problem for the subject class was that political and legal systems were in favour of capitalism, this aided class domination. Therefore, capitalism was seen to be just and reasonable rather than oppressive and exploitive. Marx believed that capitalism would eventually destroy itself. Water quality has been dropped dramatically in China over the last few decades due to significant growth of pollutants discharge to natural water bodies and increased abstraction of freshwater from the environment.(Hu Cheng,2013)The most three dominant reasons for water pollution are industrial wastewater, agricultural activities and urban runoff.(Huang et al.2010)Water pollution has become a very serious environmental issue in China. In this article, it will firstly demonstrate how the industrial, municipal and agricultural impact water quality and society in China. Secondly, the Chinese government s reaction on water pollution treatment and possible challenges when implementing the water protection policies in China. Lastly, suggesting further solutions for water treatment in China. Despite all this racism, came along the Manguson Act which canceled the Chinese Exclusion Act in December 17, 1943. Similarities and differences between Asians and Americans Just like many other families, Asian values are similar to those of American values but, there are some differences. One main similarity between Asians and Americans is that both seek for the best quality of life they possibly deserve. The Asian culture is very communal and family orientated, unlike the American culture, Americans tend to be very independent and individually orientated. An interesting topic that I came across was how Asian and Americans interpret directness. In the Asian culture people tend to value politeness above directness. On the other hand Americans tend to value directness over being polite, in other words Americans lay it out how it is and Asians tend to sugar coat it. Other distinctive behaviors that differentiate from Asian and Americans are how they feel about working hard. Asians value hard work above play and Americans feel play ... • 38. Sekhmet, The Goddess Of The Gods And Goddesss In Ancient... Ancient Egyptian civilization flourished with art and culture. Many aspects of Egyptian life were over the top. One of those areas in particular was the way Egyptians worshipped their gods and goddesses and depicted them in art. Their deities were prevalent in every part of Egyptian life; they were all important, even if only to a local nome. One chiefly important goddess portrayed throughout Egyptian artwork was Sekhmet, the goddess of war. Sekhmet, though a goddess filled with bloodlust and a belligerent nature, was not only the goddess of war, but also goddess of divine retribution, pestilence, vengeance, and conquest. Both a warrior and solar goddess, Sekhmet was represented as a lioness and was often portrayed with a human body and the head of a lioness. In some temples, tame lions were even kept to honor her. Sometimes, as seen in Figure 1, she was shown in her cobra crown as well as with a sun disk. The sun disk represents her connection to Re, the sun god, as well as her being a solar deity. The rearing cobra or uraeus also appeared as a sign that the cobra and Sekhmet were collectively protecting the pharaoh. (The Metropolitan Museum). Because of this uraeus she adorned, Sekhmet was sometimes associated with Wadjet, the goddess of Lower Egypt. Most often though, she was associated with Bastet, another feline goddess, though one of protection rather than vengeance. Bastet was sometimes seen as Sekhmet s gentle counterpart. And although Sekhmet was a patron ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most labor was performed by indentured servants of European decent at this time. However as immigrant arrivals slowed and the need for labor increased, African American slaves were shipped over and considered to be a never ending supply of labor. Colonial law and statues began to use the word White opposed to Englishmen or Christians to show superiority. Lower class Europeans thus obtained more rights and had access to better job opportunities as they were replaced by the inferior African Americans. • 40. Compromises Of 1850 The 1850s were a time of attempted compromise when compromise was no longer possible. The Union was becoming divided through many events in the time leading into the Civil War. The North and South had too many hostilities to account for. Socially, the North and the South could not stand what the other would do or say with anything. Politically, the government was completely divided and undecided. And economically, the South began to prosper as the North began to struggle. Thus, during the 1850s, socially, politically, and economically there was not any compromise that could fix the problems beginning to occur. In the 1850s, the North and South could not agree on anything and were in constant disagreements. In 1850, Henry Clay created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This made the south feel that slavery was okay since they took care of their slaves providing them food, clothing, and shelter. This would make the slavery issue more undecided since it seemed humanely correct. It would create a more difficult way to compromise since they all knew it was wrong, but there were also rights of it. The literature made the compromise almost impossible to be agreed upon since the reasons were so indecisive towards if slavery was correct or wrong. Another issue also created stir in the country and that was Harper s Ferry. Harper s Ferry was when John Brown captured an idea of arming and freeing slaves. He thought slaves would help, but he was wrong. He fought with the army, captured, tried, and hung. The North condemned the violence but the South did not believe them and saw Brown s raids as final proof the North s true intentions, to use slave revolts to destroy the south. This showed that there would not be any more compromise to go over since the South felt they knew exactly what was happening and wouldn t take anything for an answer. The countries people were fighting and there was nothing to do. On the other hand, politicians were in an uproar on what should be done and could not come to a solution for anything. • 42. Food Bank And Moral Model Analysis Being able to acknowledge the one in need of help, really can make a difference. There are many ways of helping through the small deeds, but also through the greater ones, such as food banks. The two models discussed in class covered a moral model, in which help is based off of a personal characteristic (Collver: September 20, 2017). And the other is the charity model in which it is the practice of help emerging from the notions of mortality (attitudes and beliefs about the right and wrong) (Collver: September 20, 2017). Both models are influenced by a moral discourse of deservingness. Within the learnings in class and through discussions in tutorials, I can reflect that the notion of helping through food banks or from any form of help in that matter, is not always wanted. Some individuals refuse to accept the help they receive because they believe that others think of them as weak . There is often pity associated with wanting to help. Analysis Of The Poem Daughter Of Persia Essay Sattareh Farman Farmaian paints a vivid picture of her journey from childhood to her adult life and her encounters of the Islamic Revolution as they unfold in her home country of Iran. Even when she is studying or working in the United States, Farman Farmaian is in constant contact with her relatives back home as well as constantly reading the news of the area as it unfolds, allowing her to give the best reactions to these events as they impacted her and her family directly. Her close relation to these events throughout the story Daughter of Persia allows Farman Farmaian to give one of the best accounts of someone who lived through the Islamic Revolution. Reading through Daughter of Persia I was most surprised by the sheer amount of feeling that was put in Farman Farmaian s writing. Early on, when the Farman Farmaian home is being uprooted to make way for a road by order of the Shah, she, Felt [He] was tearing apart not just our physical home, but our very selves (Farman Farmaian 100). • 45. Amelia Earhart Contributions Over 100 years ago, when humanity looked for new places to conquer, two men looked to the skies. Wilbur and Orville Wright built the first working motor airplane, and after that day, the world took a huge interest in aviation, causing many leading pioneers and innovators in the aerospace field to emerge, revolutionizing the way we look at the skies. Amelia Earhart was one of the first pilots to revolutionize the skies, and what made her particularly iconic was the fact that she was one of the first woman to fly. She discovered her love for flight after watching the Royal Flying Corps train in Toronto, Canada whilst she served as a Red Cross nurse in WWI. She then had her first airplane ride in December 1920 in California with WWI pilot Frank Hawks. After this confirmation of her love for aviation, she began lessons with instructor Neta Snook, another early woman pilot. Amelia did all she could (taking odd jobs) in order to pay for her lessons and then her first airplane: a Kinner Airster. She passed her flight test and got her license in December 1921, and afterwards she set out to define herself as a pioneer in the field of aviation, becoming the first woman to fly solo 14,000 feet above sea level. Her biggest accomplishment was flying solo across the Atlantic Ocean, as she was the first woman to do so. She continued to fly for many years, but then on a flight outside of the United States, both she and her plane were lost near the Bermuda Triangle, and no wreckage was ...
