Qualitative Research Is Good At Simplifying And Managing...
Qualitative research is good at simplifying and managing data without destroying complexity and
context. Qualitative methods are highly appropriate for questions where preemptive reduction of the
data will prevent discovery. If the purpose is to learn from the participants in a setting or a process the
way they experience it, the meanings they put on it, and how they interpret what they experience, the
researcher needs methods that will allow for discovery and do justice to their perceptions and the
complexity of their interpretations. Qualitative methods have in common the goal of generating new
ways of seeing existing data. If the purpose is to construct a theory or a theoretical framework that
reflects reality rather than the researchers own perspective or prior research results, one may need
methods that assist the discovery of theory in data. If the purpose is to understand phenomena deeply
and in detail, the researcher needs methods for discovery of central themes and analysis of core
concerns. Each of these suggestions has a flip side. If one knows what is being hypothesized and what
they are likely to find, if one do not need to know the complexity of others understandings, if one is
testing prior theory rather than constructing new frameworks, or if one is simply describing a situation
rather than deeply analyzing it, it is possible that one should not be working qualitatively. Perhaps the
research question that one is tackling with in depth interviews would be

The Pros And Cons Of Apollo Missions
Apollo Missions Reap Future Rewards for World Space travel and exploration have always fascinated
mankind. Humans have imagined travelling to space, the moon, and beyond, since first gazing through
a telescope, seeing the stars and planets. Early in our history, it was beyond belief that a human may
actually someday travel through space or walk on another planet. Yet, we dared to dream and
accomplished exactly that. On July 20, 1969 at 4:18 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, American Neil
Armstrong from the Apollo 11 mission became the first man to step on the surface of the moon
(NASA, July 20, 1969 ). The world was glued to their television sets and radios, spellbound. The

Primal Fear Mental Condition
According to the 2014 U.S. census there are approximately 318 million people residing in the United
States and 1 in 5 people are diagnosed with a mental condition. As a society we have continued to
evolve physically, mentally, and emotionally. With this growth we have become better equipped to
handle many situations that we once found difficult to understand and treat, such as mental conditions.
With the rise in the number of people diagnosed with a mental condition, society has become more
interested in studying the causes and possible treatments of these conditions. Not only are mental
conditions widely studied by scientists, the entertainment industry has capitalized on our fascination
and has made many others aware of the mental conditions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

no where to go so he began to pan handle until he met the Arch Bishop Rushman who took him in and
made him an alter boy in his church. While under the supervision of the Arch Bishop Rushman Aaron

relationship progressed the Arch Bishop slowly started forcing them along with another alter boy by
the name of Alex to film sex tapes, that the arch bishop would watch later which he claimed helped
him to purge the devil. When questioned about Linda and these sex tapes by his lawyer and a
psychiatrist Aaron becomes extremely agitated and upset and begins complaining that his head hurts.

Television Show Keeping Up With The Kardashians
The Kardashians are known for their hit reality TV show Keeping up with the Kardashians. The show
features a family that deals with what they consider as everyday problems and lead ostensibly normal
lives, hence the name Reality TV. The family gained its fame originally when Robert Kardashian
defended O.J. Simpson in court in 1995. O.J. Simpson was accused of murdering his wife, Nicole
Brown Simpson, and her ex boyfriend, Ronald Goldman (Linder). Many politicians have started out
their careers as lawyers, and sometimes become famous because they either defended or prosecuted
important cases. Julius Caesar also gained his fame in the court system. Caesar was prosecuting two
men that were followers of Sulla, who was an influential leader. This is not the only connection that
can be distinguished between the Kardashians and Julius Caesar. Kim Kardashian, although she was
already well known at the time, increased her fame even more by marrying Kanye West in May of
2014 (Stephens). Julius Caesar, similarly, married Cornelia, who was the daughter of a noble. This
helped him to gain fame and support in the political world of Rome. Another similarity between
Caesar and the Kardashians is their ability to self advertise. Kim Kardashian has always been known
for her ability to get the attention of the public through social media. Whether it be because of a
scandalous photo, or an outrageous rumor that she wants to expose as untrue, she always manages to
advertise something about

Strickland states, In tact, the ASCA National Model (2005) promotes cross walking student
competencies by grade level (sequence) and by specific guidance lesson or curricula, (Strickland,
2007). This information is valuable in determining the correct area of competency when determining a
students focused goals. The ASCA National Crosswalking Tool helps create a balanced of
interventions that support, enhance and foster all areas of development. Development can be described
as a change over time in any a structure, thought, or behavior that have been adapted by biological or
environmental influences. In my definition of development, the crosswalk tool is an excellent resource
to help with this progression in students academics. There are differences in from child to child in the
timing for reaching developmental milestones. Henceforth we as counselors will come in contact with
a wide range of students. This tool will help us focus on areas the student need to pay more closer
attention to inevitable become a high achieving student. In the Martin s article it discovered that, This
study also found that over a 3 year period, students showed better academic performance in schools
with CDG programs, even if the programs were not fully implemented (Martin, 2009). In conclusion

Romeo And Juliet Internal Conflict
Fake Your Death ~ My Chemical Romance Act 4, Scene 3 In this scene of the play, Juliet is met with
the internal struggle of whether or not she will drink the vial Friar Laurence has given her as part of
the plan. In the song the lyrics introduce with how Some people watch, some people pray some people
hope, some people pray. I believe this is Juliet s internal conflict on how she is praying for a miracle
for people to watch. The next line that the play reflects is where it says Cause even heroes get the
blues or any misery you choose we like to use and we were born to lose . The plays reflects on how
Juliet who is a main character or well Heroine of the story but despite that she stills feels sad and the

The last line of stanza is sung as So watch my back and keep the blade i think it got you laid. This
means instead of their family hurting them they should watch their back and by doing so it will be
good overall which means the laid part. The last stanza which has only one line that is not repetitive
goes as Take off your clothes and dream that fame, come on and feel that shame. This lyric I believe
where the clothes represent the worries someone has that is stopping them for example Juliet she was
too afraid to take the potion but when she does she got what she wanted, the wedding ended, although
the last lyric can mean the risks that came with doing so for example both Romeo, and Paris dying this
is the shame. The last lines of the song are just repetitions of previous lyrics the repetitions can be
reflected as being the urges to go through with the vial which in the end she did as the following lyric
is I choose defeat I walk away and leave this place the same today some like to sleep we like to play

Essay on Foreign Politics in the United States of America
1. Description of the article
Since the Syria violence begun, many lives have been lost. Thousands more have been displaced from
their homes and country. Fighting between the government army and rebels has led to allegations that
the Syrian government was using chemical weapons to attack in Damascus. These tensions have
fuelled gossip of US led military intervention.
However, whether the US should intervene militarily or not has drawn several opinions. Opinion
based on humanitarian grounds that urge the president to intervene using military action, is one of
them.
The proponents argue from the point of view that suffering demands action (Moyn 3). This group

The other stand is based on pragmatism, which separates itself from the ideological rigidity of the
above two arguments (Moyn 5).The proponents argue that effective policy and not law or power
associations should stir decisions. Alex de Waal and Bridget Conley Zilkic of the World Peace
Foundation at the Fletcher School, Tufts University, put it well when they said, The basic issue is
efficacy, not legality (Moyn 5). The goal of military action is not only to discourage Assad from using
weapons of mass destruction but also to prepare the conditions for Russia Syria s key ally to force
diplomatic negotiations and a peace settlement according to Jon Jidis ( Moyn 5). How isolated
bombing is to achieve this end remains a problem though. According to Moyn, military action should
not be pursued because it could worsen the humanitarian crisis. However, not doing anything either is
a bad choice. Moyn argues that doing something to help the Syrian people need not mean war. Moyn
sides with pragmatism because Pragmatism focuses on better immediate results for the long suffering
Syrian people
2. Personal Point of View

Investigating The Optical Performance Of Photonic Crystals
abstract Photonic crystal is a composite dielectric with periodic modulation of refractive index that
brings about unique photonic band gap effect by which light could be totally reflected on the surface
of such material regardless of any incident angle or mode. Such bandgap effect could be understood
by investigating the optical performance of photonic crystals. In this paper, photonic bandgap
calculations are performed for two dimensional photonic crystals using matlab. Plane wave expansion
method is used to solve Maxwell s equations. The effect of lattice constant and refractive index is
investigated.
Introduction Photonic crystals are special class of optical media with periodic modulation of refractive
index by arrangement of dielectric material. They respond to light waves over a desired range of
frequencies by perfectly reflecting them or allowing them to propagate only in certain directions or
confining them within a specified volume. Photons either propagate through this structure or they don
t. Frequencies that propagate are called modes, and groups of allowed modes form bands. Disallowed
bands of frequencies are called photonic band gaps. This property of photonic bandgap is utilised to
manipulate light propagation. In particular, we can design and construct photonic crystals with
photonic band gaps, preventing light from propagating in certain directions with specified frequencies

Grandmother Informative Speech
When i was younger and my family went out every weekend my grandmother would take care of all
their kinds the when they got home take care of them. She would have over 20 people in her house
and she would get up and cook of all of us. When the first time she got sick she went to the hospital
and that would be the first of many days. My grandmother is an inspiration to me.She did everything
she could t help and needy soul. She once brought a dog into her house to help it back on its feet, and
even helped it give birth. She would let any and everybody stay in her home as long as they cleaned
up behind themselves, unless it was an animal or they were not able to. My topic is grandmother who
means the world, moon and all 8 planets to me. No matter what she always made sure that when i
came over i would have plenty of crafts to do, food to cook and toys to play with. We did so many
crafts and projects together. They were so fun from stuff going horribly wrong to her cussing up a
storm every time something surprised or scared her. When we did crafts she loved to use the not glue
gun and the beads these were her go to things. In this speech i will be talking about My grandmother s
Goals, her personality, and her achievements. Main point 1 First i will be talking about her goals. First
one of her goals were to become a nurse. She always told me that she wanted to be a nurse to help
people back to health and make sure that they were safe from any other harms. She was a nurse for

The Modern Companies Working Environment Around The Globe...
Analyzing the composition of the modern companies working environment around the globe, it can be
concluded that the workforce is quite diverse. This diversity of the company s employees may be
determined by gender, race, age, religion, or physical characteristics. The importance of the
organization development is about understanding of how these characteristics of from the
organizational behavior. While many companies are willing to make a variety of work environments,
others find it difficult in terms of effective human resources management. Generational diversity has
become an essential element of many diversity strategies. Companies are now managing a broader
range of employees work needs and experiences as well as career development choices. For example,
while younger generations are climbing the corporate ladder and entering the workforce expecting fast
paced, highly inclusive workplaces that offer customizable careers, retirement eligible employees are
delaying their retirement plans. By the same token, professional development resources that were once
relegated to entry level and new employees have become a necessity for workers at all levels. This
broadening of employees needs coupled with the increased responsiveness on the part of many
organizations, benefits gender diversity by helping change the norms and expectations about the way
employees work, increasing awareness about workplace trends in different cultural and national
contexts, and promoting more

The Naps Debate
Many people debate whether naps are beneficial. Evidence proves that naps have many advantages.
Naps can be very valuable in many ways as they can help boost your alertness and performance. Just
taking short naps can help your health, provide more energy for your body, and increase your
knowledge and memory.
To begin with, naps will improve one s health. In a 2011 study, researchers at
Allegheny College found that napping was a factor in lowering blood pressure after mental stress.
Because of this napping will be helpful for those who may have health issues. When the body gets
rests, it refreshes and is able to recharge.
Secondly, taking naps can also do more than just give one health benefits but they can also offer
energy.

not confident when I was playing my role and my voice and hands were shaking. If I was preparing at

Analysis Of Sunset Blvd And The Great Gatsby By F....
Growing up, Americans begin to form dreams, or goals, based on where they want to go in life. These
dreams may change over time, or remain the same, but they are always the focus of an American s
life. However, there comes a point in life when you must decide whether to continue chasing your
dream or to face reality and give up and illusions you may have about your life. The plot of two
American based stories, Sunset Blvd , directed by Billy Wilder, and The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott
Fitzgerald, revolve around this conflict of illusion, or dreams, against reality and facing the facts of
life. Both Sunset Blvd and The Great Gatsby ultimately side with illusion and dreaming over reality, a
decision which becomes solidified by the closing scenes in both tales, and the death of a main
character.
Sunset Blvd is not subtle in stating illusion will win out over reality. After all, Norma Desmond, the
aged silent movie star who deludes herself into believing that she will be famous again, kills Joe
Gillis, our involved narrator and voice of reason. But before we analyze the dramatic pool scene,
which dispels any idea that Sunset Blvd sides with reality, we must first look at the characters, the
embodiments of dreams and of reality in this movie. Norma Desmond, who dreams of rising to
greatness again, refuses to believe that time has passed and that she no longer has any fans. Max, her
butler and first husband, feeds into this facade by writing her fan mail, encouraging her

The History of Greek Architecture Essays
The History of Greek Architecture
The architecture of ancient Greece is represented by buildings in the sanctuaries and cities of mainland
Greece, the Aegean islands, southern
Italy and Sicily, and the Ionian coast of Turkey. Monumental Greek architecture began in the archaic
period, flourished through the classical and Hellenistic periods, and saw the first of many revivals
during the
Roman Empire. The roots of Greek architecture lie in the tradition of local
Bronze Age house and palaces. The following paper will cover the basic forms of Greek architecture.

This era brought about the introduction of both the Doric and Ionic Orders.
The Doric Order, which originated around 400 BCE brought rise to a whole new type of building
technique and style. In the archaic temples, stone gradually started to replace wood, and some of the
structural details of the early buildings appear to have been copied in stone. At Thermon, in
northwestern Greece, a succession of buildings from the Last Bronze Age throughout the sixth century
BCE show the evolution of the Doric temple from a hall shaped like a hairpin to a long rectangular
building with a porch at either end and surrounded by columns. The temple of Hera at
Olympia, built about 600 BCE, had wooden columns that were gradually replaced by stone ones,
probably as votive gifts. The variety of column and capital shapes illustrates the evolution of the Doric
order. The earliest columns had a heavy, bulging profile, and their capitals were broad and low.
During the archaic period, limestone became the standard building material for foundations, steps,
walls, columns, and Doric entablature. Building such as the famous Temple of Aphaia on Aegina
illustrate the dramatic influence of the Doric order.
White the Doric order became the standard for mainland Greece, the
Ionian colonies in the eastern Aegean were developing a very different system of columns and
entablature based on Egyptian and Near Eastern architecture. The tall slender columns, low

Reliance on Technology
Rodger Covino 21NOV13 COM/150 Week 7 Introduction and Conclusion Today, the world is more

food, cars are able to park themselves, and while driving, the lights are controlled by centralized
computer system (Greenman, 1998). The truth of the matter is, that people have become so dependent
on technology that they are not prepared for any type of service interuptions. With non disaster related

Amazon has many reports of fraud concerning both buyers and sellers. Since Amazon is only the
company who brings the two parties together, they will investigate but are not liable for fraud. The ads
that Google uses have been unknowingly infected with viruses and malware (Mills, 2010). The people
behind the Google viruses and the Amazon fraud have one goal; to steel your money. With these sites
being accessible on mobile devices, makes it that much easier to acquire. Devices such as cell phones
and laptops can make people lose focus on what they are doing. For example, in the article Tweet less,
kiss more , Bob Herbert talks about a certain female driver who almost caused an accident along the
Washington New York Highway. She was talking on her cell phone while driving recklessly by
changing lanes carelessly. That careless driving could have caused a serious accident in which could
have led to severe bodily injury or, worse, death to her or other drivers. This act shows that over
reliance on communication devices may cause people to lose concentration and focus when it is
needed the most. Technology has had a huge effect on the way people communicate. A lot of people
have gotten rid of their old wired phones in favor of only having a cell phone. A study in June 2010

Ionic Bonds, Covalent Bonds, and Polymers
Ionic Bonds, Covalent Bonds, and Polymers An attraction between atoms that allows chemical
substances to form is commonly referred to as a chemical bond. Two of the most common types of
chemical bonds are ionic bonds and covalent bonds. Both ionic and covalent bonds can be mixed
together in order to form mixtures and compounds. While the two types of chemical bonds have
several similarities, they are also vastly different. Ionic and covalent bonds are formed when two or
more elements bond together. There are 117 elements known to date. An element is defined as a
substance that is made up of a single atom. While 94 of these elements are naturally occurring, 22 of
these elements are artificial. A complete list of elements can be found on the periodic table of the
elements, arranged by atomic number and by chemical property. When substances are formed through
ionic or covalent bonding, they can be combined with other substances to form mixtures or
compounds. A compound is a pure substance that is made up of two or more substances. A compound
is a homogenous mixture that requires all elements comprising the mixture to be present in fixed
proportions. When elements are combined to make a compound, they do not retain their individual
properties. Furthermore, in order to separate a compound into its individual elemental components, a
large amount of energy must be used. Compounds form naturally and have elemental stability;
stability depends on the number of electrons that

for psychologists providing telepsychological services. The guidelines address competency, standard
of care, informed consent, confidentiality, security of information, disposal of data, testing and
assessment, and interjurisdictional practice (APA, 2013). Psychological providers have an ethical
responsibility to only provide services for which they have the appropriate training, education or
experience in which they have become competent. In practicing only when competent, psychologists
can assure that they are maintaining their ethical duties and providing appropriate care for the client.
To maintain appropriate standards of care, it is advised that providers follow best practices in
determining the appropriateness of telepsychological interventions for their clients (APA, 2013).
When telepsychological interventions are implemented, psychologists are advised to follow guidelines
relating to the provision of services. When it is determined that telepsychological services are
appropriate, it is the provider s responsibility to inform the client of the risks associated with these
types of services. Informed consent raises particular difficulties for telepsychological services due to
the difficulties in explaining the process and interventions to the client, obtaining and

Tear Gas Research Paper
The US department of defense defines a non lethal weapon as a discriminate weapon that is explicitly
designed and used so as to incapacitate personal or material while minimizing fatalities and undesired
damage to property and environment. (Nick Lewer) In the 21st century, we have various effective non
lethal weapons to combat and subdue riots. In order to protect rioters from their self s and others, the
police will commonly us incapacitating chemicals, flash bangs, or kinetic impact munitions. Tear gas
was something that militaries were experimenting with and using in the first world war. Germany and
France both developed and used lachrymatory irritants in battle, but weren t sure exactly how to use it

Seeing how affective these projectiles could be, the police in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong
eventually made a more sophisticated wooden bullet. By the 1970s, the British brought the idea back
to England, where they replaced wood with rubber. Eventually this idea trickled down to many other
countries including the United States. These rubber bullets can be shot from a standard police
handgun. The bullet has a metal shell casing but instead of a metal bullet it is replaced by a black thick
rubber projectile. In riots, the police will attempt to aim for any area below the neck; when the bullet
hits an object it flattens out in order to cause no permanent damage. Rubber bullets travel up to 950
mph, and if hit by one of these rubber bullets a rioter will experience an extreme stinging pain. Some
people describe the pain as being hit with a baseball bat (Norman). Although not intended to be deadly
doctors warn, rubber bullets are unsafe and should never be used by authorities to control riots . But
when it comes down to controlling hostile crowds, rubber bullets are the most effective and instant
way to turn rioters away. These are just a few non lethal weapons used by police in riots all across the
United States. Non lethal weapons come in a variety of devices that can be used to subdue rioters if
needed. These devices provide a much needed weapon

ADHD Life Coaching For Parents And Teens
https://www.pexels.com/photo/adult anger art black background 356147/
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition where an
individual shows extreme impulsivity, has difficulty sustaining attention and is overly active, to an
extent that he/she might find it difficult to sit at one place for more than a minute. It is a disorder with
a recognized and persistent behavioral pattern that normally shows up during childhood.
ADHD is stressful both for the sufferer and his/her parents, who often struggle with the restless
behavior of kids. They might misjudge the child to be naughty or stubborn and rely on medications for
help. However, medications and other treatment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The techniques are mostly individualized and may not be the same for all. Some of the commonly
used ADHD coaching methods are
Behavioral Orientation Which involves training to correctly monitor behavior and bring the desirable
changes in behavior. Several techniques like positive reinforcement, or time out can be used by
coaches. Parents and child need to work together and build up certain ways and strategies that help the
child learn the suitable and acceptable behavioral patterns.
Life Skills Improvement ADHD children are helped out to open up their feelings and share their
difficulties freely. The coach trains them to develop daily self help habits that can aid in improving
focus and attention. This also helps them in learning how to take correct decisions in life and working
through disruptive behaviors.
Attention Games To increase focus and improve attention span of the ADHD children, different
attention exercises are used by life coaches. For example, simple games like freeze time or statue can
help a lot when dealing with kids as they are fun and engaging. Another very common technique is the
clap method where the child has to clap at the same time as the coach

Analysis Of The 12 Labours Of Hercules
The twelve labours of Hercules is a myth because it is a story passed down all the way to today s
generation, making it be a traditional tale. Hercules is originally a Roman god; however, it is similar to
the Greek s version of Heracles. This myth is originally from the Latin language which is typically
used by the Romans. The twelve labours of Hercules was originally written by Peisanders and was
then lost in 600 B.C. Hercules was born a demigod with supernatural powers that established the
patterns of life as we know it. According to Synnøve Des Bouvrie and Bascom s definition, the 12
labours of Hercules is a myth because it is traditional, remote, and true. One thing that makes the
twelve labours of Hercules a myth is that it is true. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ideologies are crucial and meaningful in the culture. This myth has etiology because of the second
religious rights that celebrated Demeter and Persephone which for any reason allowed happiness in
the underworld, if we re Hercules were to die during the fight with Cerberus (54C.E:146 147). The
myth provides the fact that it is true, based on a faith s structure. Another thing that makes the twelve
labours of Hercules a myth is because it s traditional. The explanation of why it is believed to be
traditional because Hercules was a demigod and was, therefore, tide in their beliefs in the past which
is a key component of myth(2002: 22). It was considered to be a normal human experience, where
gods, goddesses, and demigods were seen as normal and passed down through their faith. These
historical events are so people could maintain contact with their ancestors. The 12 labors that Hercules
was given was because he wanted the gods to forgive him of his horrendous crimes, and it was known
in their faith/religion to ask the gods for amnesty(54C.E.:36 37). The traditional tell the myth is retold
many years later and has become well known. That also makes his story a tradition, as a tradition is
described as something that has been done consistently for the past hundred years or more. Hercules

Role Of Gavroche In Les Miserables
Imagine you re dressed in your finest clothes, wearing a top hat or a satin dress and giant flowery hat,
stopped in your carriage waiting for other carriages just as beautiful as yours to pass by. Suddenly, a
street kid jumps into your carriage bringing his stench and rags with him. Well, this is how Gavroche
is presented during the very first scene that he is in in the movie musical Les Misérables. Gavroche
was a character vital to Hugo s story because he helped expose many problems in French society, and
show how they affected everyone, even a beggar child. Gavroche helps the brothers of the barricade

letter to Cosette s house, the plot and ending of the story would have been much different than what
we see in the book as well as the musical or movie today. Gavroche shows readers and viewers that
young people can do great things, and pushes the rebels on to fight. After all, even though Gavroche s

Theme Of Truth And Ignorance In John Knowles A Separate...
In life, there are two opposing forces that wage a constant war in men s hearts, truth and ignorance.
While some walk along the enlightened path of truth, others are blinded by the veil of ignorance,
unable to see anything beyond their distorted view of the world. In John Knowles A Separate Peace,
two maturing teens named Gene and Finny feel the effects of this inner strife, which shapes their
actions and causes the fall, and eventual death, of Finny. While Gene comes to terms with the glaring
light of truth, Finny continues to hide behind a veil of ignorance and innocence, unable to handle the
truth s piercing rays.Through his writing, Knowles conveys that truth s omnipresent light shines
through the murky depths of ignorance, illuminating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Near the end of the novel, Brinker organizes a mock trial in which Gene is accused of causing Finny s
fall. Throughout the trial, Finny adamantly denies Gene s involvement, claiming Gene was not even
on the tree when he fell. However, the arrival of Leper, a fellow classmate, causes him to doubt
himself. Leper is an innocent schoolboy who joins the military but deserts after going insane. He
returns to Devon Academy, where he is invited by Brinker to shed light upon the incident, which he
does by revealing Gene s involvement in Finny s fall. Finny, unable to handle the truth, emotionally
retreats from the room as he shouts You get the rest of the facts Brinker....you collect every f ing fact
there is in the world! (Knowles 177). Finny reacts emotionally to the truth because accepting it would
mean accepting his closest companion is no longer to be trusted. This is particularly scarring for Finny
because after his theory about the war is shattered, he becomes dependent on Gene s loyalty and
candor: Christ, I ve got to believe you, at least. I know you better than anybody (Knowles 163). In
both cases, Finny s innocent beliefs are shattered by Leper, who illuminates the reality of the world s
evils and consequently destroys Finny s blissful ignorance. Leper symbolizes the unadulterated truth;
he is unencumbered

Reflection On Happiness
Webster dictionary defines happiness as good fortune, a state of being well being and contentment, a
pleasurable or satisfying experience, but everyone has a different idea of what happiness is. Some
people think of happiness as an object; a person, place or thing. John Stuart Mill believed that Those
only are happy who have their minds fixed on some object other than their own happiness; on the
happiness of others, on the improvement of mankind. I agree with this quote because when I m not
focusing on the fact that I want to be happy I m the happiest. Thomas Carlyle opinion was that every
person believed they had the right to be happy. And despite new improvements in life the percentages
of happiness has not changed. When I think of John Stuart Mill s statement about only finding
happiness if your mind is fixed on something other than happiness, I think of a baby, because babies
don t worry about being happy, they don t see it as a need or something they have to be since they are
so young and don t quite understand happiness. When we smile at a baby they smile back, but as we
grow and get older we think too much about what makes us happy and how to get into that state of
mind. We focus our entire life on being happy, thinking if we just get this or get that it will make us
happy. We put our happiness into other people, other places and other things. Some put their happiness
in the form of a season of the year, or a place they want to live someday or a job they want

Mistaken Eyewitness Testimony
An eyewitness testimony is a proceeding whereby the witness of a crime will stand in court and recall
the events which they perceived and is involved in the identification of the perpetrator (Laney Loftus,
n.d.). Eyewitnesses testimonies have become a staple for many legal proceedings and is often taken as
hard evidence for a crime which someone has committed. However, there has been a staggering
number of innocent people who have been convicted of a crime based on eyewitness testimonies. This
is what led to the creation of the Innocence Project whose mission is to use DNA evidence to free
wrongly convicted individuals ( About Innocence Project, n.d.). This essay will explore some of the
reasons behind mistaken eyewitness testimonies, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, factors such as interactions with other witnesses and the influence of media outlets cannot
be accounted for. In addition, the small sample size of 13 participants means the results are not as
reliable and cannot be generalised to the population at large. One possible factor which may influence
the results is that witnesses were within close proximity to the events which transpired which can
influence memory as well as not being applicable to many crimes whereby the witnesses only see part
of the crime or a shadow of the perpetrator. An alternative explanation would be that flashbulb
memory was at work here.
A flashbulb memory is a detailed snapshot of an event which evoked feelings of shock or surprise or
were otherwise emotionally arousing (Brown and Kulik, 1977). Events which have negative emotions
attached to them seem to be processed in a detail attentive and conservative manner (Bless et al.,
1996; Storbeck Clore, 2005; Bohn and Bernsten, 2007). The age of a witness also seems to influence
the formation of flashbulb memories. In a study by Cohen, Conway and Maylor (1993) most of the
younger participants experienced flashbulb memory compared to less than half the older participants.
They concluded that the main factor which influenced the formation of flashbulb memories for older
participants was rehearsal of the events whereas in younger

The Black Church Essay
During the years of slavery in America, slave associations were of great concern to slave owners.
Many members of white society saw Black religious meetings as a threat to white existence. Despite
this, slaves relied heavily on the churches, as they offered a kind of therapy for them, and as the slaves
retained their faith in God, they found protection within their churches. Although the slaves practiced
their religion, the white community did not always accept the slaves as Christians. An unknown slave
said, The white folks would come in when the colored people would have prayer meeting, and whip
every one of them. Most of them thought that when colored people were praying it was against them.

organizations based upon distinctions of color and what were considered standards of civilized
behavior. Black churches are organized spiritually and politically, and they not only preach the
teachings of Christianity but they also touch on the issues of which affect their members. Black
churches have always been known to represent their community, religion, and home. Some scholars

King Lear And Hamlet Essay
The concept of madness and those who suffer from its hold is something that is apparent in both
Shakespeare s Hamlet and King Lear, both plays treat madness in similar ways it is often not
understood by the characters, it is often feminized and there are characters who choose to assume
madness for their own specific reasons. Another similarity is that both plays have two central
characters that suffer from madness, each has one character whose madness is real and each has a
character whose madness is faked. It is said the mad characters in these plays are given a type of
freedom to do and say what they please and are able to speak a certain kind of truth that would not be
acceptable in their typically sane society. Though that statement ... Show more content on

Though Edgar is faking his madness it is for good reason due to the lies of his brother Edmund, Edgar
must evade his father s knights who are after him and he has lost his status and must right the wrongs

of King Lear, they play off each other s madness and both find a freedom in their mad speeches. What
do all of these four characters have in common? Their madness can be seen as a kind of freedom from
whatever constraints society may have placed on them or it is a freedom to get information without
any of questioning their motives. The main difference of these characters each of their madness is
influenced by something else. The characters who assume roles of madness do so for their own
reasons one must avenge their father s death while another must clear his name. The characters who
are truly mad are finally able to do and say as they please, even though it may not end

The United States Is The Nation Of Immigrants
United States is the nation of immigrants. Everyone living in the United States has migrated here,
whether it was 10 years ago, 100 years ago, or 10,000 years ago. Migrations can take place for many
reasons, the main reasons being the search for a better life, escape from poor conditions or as captives.
We all have stories that branch out to other homes outside of this country. Some stories are untold and
will forever be hidden; like the story of my father. My father passed away eight years ago, before I

position. My father had a tough life when he first came to United States. That s all I can say about my
father. The rest of his history is a mystery. My mother, however, had a lot to say. My father married
my mother in 1993. After their marriage, my father returned to United States leaving my mother to
live in Pakistan with her family. She wasn t ready to leave her entire family and her home country.
Upon that, they decided she would stay in Pakistan until she felt comfortable enough to come to the
United States. Five years later, when my father returned to Pakistan, she decided to go back to United

How Elizabethan Fashion Has Influenced the Modern Day...
Every generation laughs at the old fashions, but follows religiously the new. (Fashion Quotes 1) The
words once spoken by Henry David Thoreau are politically correct. People often look at Elizabethan s
choice of fashion and ridicule everything about it from the hair, down to the stockings. As it appears,
fashion has always been a broad topic of discussion in the world. Whether it is NY Fashion Week or a
Macy s fashion show, fashion is something that has always been an eye catcher. Fashion has been
around for many years, and whether we know it or not, Elizabethan fashion has influenced the way
modern fashion is today.

Women often times wore gloves made of cherverill, silk and velvet. The Elizabethan time period was
known for their exquisite sense of fashion. (Women s Fashion 1) Although Elizabethan fashion had
multiple tricks of the trade, modern day fashion has only few tricks worth sharing. Modern day
fashion is a more carefree approach. There aren t usually any rules when it comes what to wear, and
women are granted the freedom to choose what they would prefer to wear. Women generally enjoy
this aspect of society, since many things are still controlled. Unlike the Elizabethan women, modern
women prefer to wear jeans on an average day. T shirts with fun, different sayings on them are often
times paired with jeans. Some women even prefer to wear men s clothing, such as jeans and loafers.
Most women often wear shirts that show a little more cleavage than what would be seen as appropriate
in Elizabethan times, as seen in Figure two. (Modern day 1) Commonly, women are classified by what
sort of brands they wear, or what type of style they have, like the Elizabethans. Elizabethan fashion
influenced the modern day fashion world in many aspects. In Elizabethan times, fashion was often
used to show status in society, and was very important to women. Fashion today can be compared to
the same aspects. Women wear different brands or types of clothing to show status or capital.

Farm To Table Movement
One of the biggest trends in the culinary world today is the farm to table movement. The phrase farm
to table is a phrase referring to food made with locally sourced ingredients. Our society is in a rapid
state of technological innovation, which means that we often compromise health and nutrition for the
sake of convenience. However, a growing number of consumers have started to seek healthier and
more environmentally friendly alternatives to the processed foods that dominate grocery store shelves.
More than ever, Americans are looking for local food. The farm to table movement is also changing
the expectations for restaurants. The cost can come at a premium for some businesses, which are still
dealing with the challenges that serving local food can present. For the consumer, the purpose may be
helping to build a strong economy by supporting local agriculture, knowing where the food comes
from and farming practices used, or reducing the number of transportation miles and insuring they are

Nathaniel Hawthorne s Gloomy And Gothic Atmosphere
Nathaniel Hawthorne s gloomy and gothic atmosphere sets the overall mood of The Scarlet Letter. The
novel invokes a sense of great anticipation in the reader, particularly through the dramatic events
surrounding the novel s protagonist, Arthur Dimmesdale. However, the way his motivations and
conflicts intertwine and mature throughout the novel allows the readers to see that he is much more
than just a sinner ultimately getting what he rightfully deserves. His persona and values also evolve
throughout the book; showing how a man who keeps the truth withheld from those who need to hear it
can lead to that man s destruction.
Arthur Dimmesdale is a reverend and along with the job comes the people, but most importantly, God.
Having this particular duty is hard to maintain and when everything in one s life depends on how one
is viewed; one can see how at the beginning of the novel Arthur is reluctant to speak of the adultery he
has committed. During the first few chapters Arthur s motivation surrounds the need to survive; he
wants to survive the punishments bestowed on Hester without anyone knowing of his guilt. As time
goes by with the truth still hidden, his conscience gets the better of him; a bloody scourge owned by
dimmsdale surfaces from the book and the idea of Dimmsdale whipping himself as punishment arises.

Massage Therapy Essay
Massage Therapy is an alternative medicine practice that involves the use of different types of strokes
that are done with the hands, fingers, forearms, and elbows of a specially trained person. The strokes
are done to manipulate the soft tissues and muscles of one s body in an attempt to relax and relieve the

Government Regulation Of Food Essay
It is in the 21st century in the United States of America, as the amount of the year increase, such does
the obesity at an alarming rate. But it is not always the people s fault. In fact earlier this century,
before government regulation stepped in, consumers had no idea if one item was more fattening than
the other. But the men and women who represent the country want to help the people by having the
food on menus healthier for everyone. Now they have the best intentions for the citizens of our
country and they are trying to slim down on this thick epidemic. One may agree with the government
regulating our food because it will help the restaurants serve healthier food choices, it will reduce
obesity, and the public will be more aware of what they consume.
Would it be great if you eat out with your family and eat healthy, yet tasteful, foods. Well that is the
government s intention, to put a limit on what harmful stuff the people at the restaurant can add to
their foods. Ever since Michael Bloomberg took office in New York City, he has banned all use of
trans fat in restaurant use. Not only that, but he also banned smoking in public on street corners across

retro, pixel interfaces of video games quickly strides to advance its graphics, gameplay and quality,
becoming an ambitious industry as the years continue on. In the early 1900s, this was an unreal
thought by society from the technology at the time, including a man named Aldous Huxley. The author
of the novel Brave New World, published in 1932, Huxley creates a dystopian science fiction novel in
which a futuristic society must be stabilized, kept together by conditioning the individual. The novel
bares a resemblance to advancing technology in the modern day world, particularly the video game
industry. As the visuals of games continue to become more realistic and engaging gameplay created by
the companies, it presents simulated worlds where the player will get lost in. Real life becomes non

Whether gambling, alcohol or shopping, it is surprising to find video games being a part of this
growing list. Video game addiction is a growing epidemic that is running rampant through the world,
including parts of Asia. Death from video games is becoming more common and sounds like a horror
story (Flanagan). Contributing to the increase are illnesses and social disorders, two well known
conditions being social anxiety and depression. By shutting themselves out from the real world, the
only light being the screen of their television or computer and eyes glued to the screen, their basic
needs are ignored. Sitting in a chair for hours on end, the body deteriorates from negligence. The
different video game genres help fulfill basic psychological needs too, but can lead to a secret
underlying problem. Playing for days can certainly feel like a medication taken everyday and life

Calvinism In The Movie The Last Of The Mohicans
The Last of the Mohicans is a 1992 movie, based in the late 1750s, during the French and Indian war.
The French army is attacking Fort William Henry, a British outpost commanded by Colonel Munro.
When Munro s daughters Alice and Cora wish to visit their father, they are escorted by Major Duncan
Heyward and a Native American called Magua. Eventually joined by David Gamut, a follower of
Calvinism. The group encounters the white scout Natty Bumppo, who goes by Hawkeye, along with
Native Americans Chingachgook and Uncas, Chingachogook s son. They are last members of a dying
Native American tribe, the Mohicans. Hawkeye says that Magua is lying and has led the group in the
wrong direction, and he escapes. Magua and more Hurons attack the next morning and captures the
group, while the Mohicans escape down the river. Magua wants revenge on Munro and proposed to
free Alice if Cora marries him. Cora, however had romantic feelings for Uncas and refuses. The
Mohicans than rescues the group and kill the Hurons except Magua, who escapes again. Eventually
they make it to Fort William Henry, where Cora and Alice are reunited with their father. After a few
days during the withdrawal of the troops, Magua is able to recapture Cora, Alice, and Gamut. Three
days later, Heyward, Hawkeye, Munro, and the Mohicans began to track them down. Gamut explains
that Magua sent Alice to a Huron camp and Cora to Delaware. The group eventually rescues Alice. A
rogue Huron eventually kills Cora. Magua stabs

BASF Motivation Statement
I. The World largest chemical company with strong sustainability program
According to business dictionary, environmental sustainability is the maintenance of the factors and
practices that contribute to the quality of environment on a long term basis. (Business Dictionary) Any
corporate has social responsibility to assess and take responsibility for the company s effects on the
environment and impact on social welfare indefinitely. (professor Stenzel s article) However chemical
companies sustainability efforts and involvement are critical. it was fascinating to see the biggest
chemical company in the world, BASF involves and cares on sustainability. it has a potential
sustainability program toward the environment and has potential to spread sustainability awareness
among its reliable partners. As the biggest chemical company in the world, my classmate Ian Beason
and I wanted to know how BASF pursue its sustainability effort and we interviewed James Peterson,
BASF Marketing Manager. James Peterson has been working with BASF for 17 years. BASF
measures its sustainability success by enhancing sustainability along the value chain, Quintuple
Bottom Line, corporate social responsibility and community outreach and cooperating with
government regulation.
II. BASF creating chemistry for a sustainable future BASF is a 152 years old company that employs
150,000 people worldwide. It is a multibillionaire German based company. In 2016 revenue report, it

The And Debit Card Hackings
You Got Hacked Within the past year, there have been many credit and debit card hackings that have
occurred, mainly targeting businesses in the United States. The three main businesses that have been
targeted and successfully hacked have been Target, with 40 million card holders having their cards
compromised, JPMorgan Chase, with a total of 76 million households and 7 million businesses being
compromised, and The Home Depot, with 56 million card holders being attacked (Silver Greenberg,
Goldstein, Perlroth). In addition to the main stories about hacking that everyone hears about, there are
many others that are never brought to the attention of consumers. Within the first half of 2014 alone,
there were 76 breaches solely in the United States that caused credit card numbers to be compromised
(Newsham). Learning about these situations struck me as extremely intriguing and lead me to want to
learn even more about these hacking situations. In researching about this topic and looking in depth at
all the information I found, I discovered that there are many other subtopics that interested me as well,
including consumer hacking in general, how credit cards work, what technology is needed for credit
cards to work, how information is stored safely within companies to prevent hacking, the technology
behind hacking, the main programs used within hacking, if, and how, social media has effected
hacking, learn more about what big name companies and bank franchises should be doing in

Nt1330 Unit 4.2 Paper
4.2 Implementation Details 4.2.1 Data Source Random Bernoulli generator generates binary data on a
per frame basis. In data output, 144 samples per frame are used, and data rate is 36 Mbps. Figure 4.2:
Data Source 4.2.2 Forward Error Correction Coding A typical problem in OFDM based systems is a
high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR). The available RF power amplifiers usually have a limited
linear dynamic range. This is not a problem for constant amplitude signals, however, in OFDM, due to
IFFT operation, some of the sub carriers add constructively to large amplitudes while others add
destructively. The amplitude of the signals thus varies randomly and for large amplitude signals, non
linear amplifications cause errors. Therefore, error correction codes are employed. In HiperLan2, the
data is coded with a convolutional encoder of rate 1/2. The convolutional encoder uses the industry
standard generator polynomials, g0 = 1338 and g1 = 1718, and is shown in Figure 4.3. The bit denoted
as A is the first output from the encoder while the bit denoted B is the second one. Higher code rates
are derived via puncturing. In puncturing, some of the encoded bits in the transmitter are removed ...

The stream of complex numbers is rearranged so that the pilots can be inserted. In each OFDM
symbol, four pilot signals are inserted in order to make the coherent detection robust against frequency
offsets and phase noise. The pilots are BPSK modulated by a pseudo binary sequence to prevent the
generation of spectral lines [18]. A zero padded block adds zeros, in the right places, to adjust the
IFFT bin size to length N. Selector block rearranges the sub carriers so that real signal output can be
generated. The IFFT block then computes the Inverse Fast Fourier Transform (IFFT) of length N,
where, for ease of implementation, N is a power of

With a culture of empowerment established, organizational success can be improved trough the
innovative thoughts and actions of personnel.
Issues addressed
Launching a change from the normal work culture to one of empowerment can become a situation
where both managers and employees feel intimidated. Managers may feel they will lose control of
their departments while employees may feel they will lose support or may feel anxious about
acquiring this new standing which they may feel unqualified. It is therefore important for the manager
to demonstrate that they value and trust their employees, as well as realize. Displaying appreciation
for employee uniqueness is the first step in achieving trust and loyalty. The appreciation displayed will
help people feel that they are part of the organization, not only their individual job (Niehoff,
Moorman, Blakely, Fuller , 2001, p. 97). By allowing the characteristic of trust and valuing the
individuals, both the manager and employee can experience a sense of control and support. Insuring
all employees know and have access to the organization s overall mission, vision, and strategic plans,
and including them in the actual planning and accepting their input on the overall planning, will lead
them in a direction that will display their commitment and competency (Allen, 2012).
Involvement of employees in the goals and direction of the organization are imperative in the
empowerment of the employee. Contributions from

  • 2. Qualitative Research Is Good At Simplifying And Managing... Qualitative research is good at simplifying and managing data without destroying complexity and context. Qualitative methods are highly appropriate for questions where preemptive reduction of the data will prevent discovery. If the purpose is to learn from the participants in a setting or a process the way they experience it, the meanings they put on it, and how they interpret what they experience, the researcher needs methods that will allow for discovery and do justice to their perceptions and the complexity of their interpretations. Qualitative methods have in common the goal of generating new ways of seeing existing data. If the purpose is to construct a theory or a theoretical framework that reflects reality rather than the researchers own perspective or prior research results, one may need methods that assist the discovery of theory in data. If the purpose is to understand phenomena deeply and in detail, the researcher needs methods for discovery of central themes and analysis of core concerns. Each of these suggestions has a flip side. If one knows what is being hypothesized and what they are likely to find, if one do not need to know the complexity of others understandings, if one is testing prior theory rather than constructing new frameworks, or if one is simply describing a situation rather than deeply analyzing it, it is possible that one should not be working qualitatively. Perhaps the research question that one is tackling with in depth interviews would be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Humans have imagined travelling to space, the moon, and beyond, since first gazing through a telescope, seeing the stars and planets. On July 20, 1969 at 4:18 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, American Neil Armstrong from the Apollo 11 mission became the first man to step on the surface of the moon (NASA, July 20, 1969 ). The show features a family that deals with what they consider as everyday problems and lead ostensibly normal lives, hence the name Reality TV. The family gained its fame originally when Robert Kardashian defended O.J. Simpson in court in 1995. O.J. Simpson was accused of murdering his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her ex boyfriend, Ronald Goldman (Linder). Many politicians have started out their careers as lawyers, and sometimes become famous because they either defended or prosecuted important cases. Julius Caesar also gained his fame in the court system. Caesar was prosecuting two men that were followers of Sulla, who was an influential leader. This is not the only connection that can be distinguished between the Kardashians and Julius Caesar. Kim Kardashian, although she was already well known at the time, increased her fame even more by marrying Kanye West in May of 2014 (Stephens). Julius Caesar, similarly, married Cornelia, who was the daughter of a noble. This helped him to gain fame and support in the political world of Rome. Another similarity between Caesar and the Kardashians is their ability to self advertise. Kim Kardashian has always been known for her ability to get the attention of the public through social media. The goal of military action is not only to discourage Assad from using weapons of mass destruction but also to prepare the conditions for Russia Syria s key ally to force diplomatic negotiations and a peace settlement according to Jon Jidis ( Moyn 5). How isolated bombing is to achieve this end remains a problem though. According to Moyn, military action should not be pursued because it could worsen the humanitarian crisis. • 10. Investigating The Optical Performance Of Photonic Crystals abstract Photonic crystal is a composite dielectric with periodic modulation of refractive index that brings about unique photonic band gap effect by which light could be totally reflected on the surface of such material regardless of any incident angle or mode. Such bandgap effect could be understood by investigating the optical performance of photonic crystals. In this paper, photonic bandgap calculations are performed for two dimensional photonic crystals using matlab. Plane wave expansion method is used to solve Maxwell s equations. The effect of lattice constant and refractive index is investigated. Introduction Photonic crystals are special class of optical media with periodic modulation of refractive index by arrangement of dielectric material. They respond to light waves over a desired range of frequencies by perfectly reflecting them or allowing them to propagate only in certain directions or confining them within a specified volume. Photons either propagate through this structure or they don t. Frequencies that propagate are called modes, and groups of allowed modes form bands. Disallowed bands of frequencies are called photonic band gaps. This property of photonic bandgap is utilised to manipulate light propagation. In particular, we can design and construct photonic crystals with photonic band gaps, preventing light from propagating in certain directions with specified frequencies By transmitting signals with ... The importance of the organization development is about understanding of how these characteristics of from the organizational behavior. While many companies are willing to make a variety of work environments, others find it difficult in terms of effective human resources management. Generational diversity has become an essential element of many diversity strategies. Companies are now managing a broader range of employees work needs and experiences as well as career development choices. For example, while younger generations are climbing the corporate ladder and entering the workforce expecting fast paced, highly inclusive workplaces that offer customizable careers, retirement eligible employees are delaying their retirement plans. By the same token, professional development resources that were once relegated to entry level and new employees have become a necessity for workers at all levels. These dreams may change over time, or remain the same, but they are always the focus of an American s life. However, there comes a point in life when you must decide whether to continue chasing your dream or to face reality and give up and illusions you may have about your life. The plot of two American based stories, Sunset Blvd , directed by Billy Wilder, and The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, revolve around this conflict of illusion, or dreams, against reality and facing the facts of life. Both Sunset Blvd and The Great Gatsby ultimately side with illusion and dreaming over reality, a decision which becomes solidified by the closing scenes in both tales, and the death of a main character. Sunset Blvd is not subtle in stating illusion will win out over reality. After all, Norma Desmond, the aged silent movie star who deludes herself into believing that she will be famous again, kills Joe Gillis, our involved narrator and voice of reason. But before we analyze the dramatic pool scene, which dispels any idea that Sunset Blvd sides with reality, we must first look at the characters, the embodiments of dreams and of reality in this movie. This era brought about the introduction of both the Doric and Ionic Orders. The Doric Order, which originated around 400 BCE brought rise to a whole new type of building technique and style. In the archaic temples, stone gradually started to replace wood, and some of the structural details of the early buildings appear to have been copied in stone. At Thermon, in northwestern Greece, a succession of buildings from the Last Bronze Age throughout the sixth century BCE show the evolution of the Doric temple from a hall shaped like a hairpin to a long rectangular building with a porch at either end and surrounded by columns. The temple of Hera at Olympia, built about 600 BCE, had wooden columns that were gradually replaced by stone ones, probably as votive gifts. The variety of column and capital shapes illustrates the evolution of the Doric order. The earliest columns had a heavy, bulging profile, and their capitals were broad and low. Ionic Bonds, Covalent Bonds, and Polymers Ionic Bonds, Covalent Bonds, and Polymers An attraction between atoms that allows chemical substances to form is commonly referred to as a chemical bond. Two of the most common types of chemical bonds are ionic bonds and covalent bonds. Both ionic and covalent bonds can be mixed together in order to form mixtures and compounds. While the two types of chemical bonds have several similarities, they are also vastly different. Ionic and covalent bonds are formed when two or more elements bond together. There are 117 elements known to date. An element is defined as a substance that is made up of a single atom. While 94 of these elements are naturally occurring, 22 of these elements are artificial. A complete list of elements can be found on the periodic table of the elements, arranged by atomic number and by chemical property. When substances are formed through ionic or covalent bonding, they can be combined with other substances to form mixtures or compounds. A compound is a pure substance that is made up of two or more substances. A compound is a homogenous mixture that requires all elements comprising the mixture to be present in fixed proportions. When elements are combined to make a compound, they do not retain their individual properties. The guidelines address competency, standard of care, informed consent, confidentiality, security of information, disposal of data, testing and assessment, and interjurisdictional practice (APA, 2013). Psychological providers have an ethical responsibility to only provide services for which they have the appropriate training, education or experience in which they have become competent. In practicing only when competent, psychologists can assure that they are maintaining their ethical duties and providing appropriate care for the client. To maintain appropriate standards of care, it is advised that providers follow best practices in determining the appropriateness of telepsychological interventions for their clients (APA, 2013). When telepsychological interventions are implemented, psychologists are advised to follow guidelines relating to the provision of services. When it is determined that telepsychological services are appropriate, it is the provider s responsibility to inform the client of the risks associated with these types of services. Informed consent raises particular difficulties for telepsychological services due to the difficulties in explaining the process and interventions to the client, obtaining and ... By the 1970s, the British brought the idea back to England, where they replaced wood with rubber. Eventually this idea trickled down to many other countries including the United States. These rubber bullets can be shot from a standard police handgun. The bullet has a metal shell casing but instead of a metal bullet it is replaced by a black thick rubber projectile. In riots, the police will attempt to aim for any area below the neck; when the bullet hits an object it flattens out in order to cause no permanent damage. Rubber bullets travel up to 950 mph, and if hit by one of these rubber bullets a rioter will experience an extreme stinging pain. Some people describe the pain as being hit with a baseball bat (Norman). While some walk along the enlightened path of truth, others are blinded by the veil of ignorance, unable to see anything beyond their distorted view of the world. In John Knowles A Separate Peace, two maturing teens named Gene and Finny feel the effects of this inner strife, which shapes their actions and causes the fall, and eventual death, of Finny. Leper is an innocent schoolboy who joins the military but deserts after going insane. • 30. Reflection On Happiness Webster dictionary defines happiness as good fortune, a state of being well being and contentment, a pleasurable or satisfying experience, but everyone has a different idea of what happiness is. Some people think of happiness as an object; a person, place or thing. John Stuart Mill believed that Those only are happy who have their minds fixed on some object other than their own happiness; on the happiness of others, on the improvement of mankind. I agree with this quote because when I m not focusing on the fact that I want to be happy I m the happiest. Thomas Carlyle opinion was that every person believed they had the right to be happy. And despite new improvements in life the percentages of happiness has not changed. When I think of John Stuart Mill s statement about only finding happiness if your mind is fixed on something other than happiness, I think of a baby, because babies don t worry about being happy, they don t see it as a need or something they have to be since they are so young and don t quite understand happiness. When we smile at a baby they smile back, but as we grow and get older we think too much about what makes us happy and how to get into that state of mind. We focus our entire life on being happy, thinking if we just get this or get that it will make us happy. We put our happiness into other people, other places and other things. However, factors such as interactions with other witnesses and the influence of media outlets cannot be accounted for. In addition, the small sample size of 13 participants means the results are not as reliable and cannot be generalised to the population at large. One possible factor which may influence the results is that witnesses were within close proximity to the events which transpired which can influence memory as well as not being applicable to many crimes whereby the witnesses only see part of the crime or a shadow of the perpetrator. An alternative explanation would be that flashbulb memory was at work here. A flashbulb memory is a detailed snapshot of an event which evoked feelings of shock or surprise or were otherwise emotionally arousing (Brown and Kulik, 1977). Events which have negative emotions attached to them seem to be processed in a detail attentive and conservative manner (Bless et al., 1996; Storbeck Clore, 2005; Bohn and Bernsten, 2007). In the early 1900s, this was an unreal thought by society from the technology at the time, including a man named Aldous Huxley. The author of the novel Brave New World, published in 1932, Huxley creates a dystopian science fiction novel in which a futuristic society must be stabilized, kept together by conditioning the individual. The novel bares a resemblance to advancing technology in the modern day world, particularly the video game industry. As the visuals of games continue to become more realistic and engaging gameplay created by the companies, it presents simulated worlds where the player will get lost in. Real life becomes non existent, sinking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether gambling, alcohol or shopping, it is surprising to find video games being a part of this growing list. Video game addiction is a growing epidemic that is running rampant through the world, including parts of Asia. Death from video games is becoming more common and sounds like a horror story (Flanagan). Contributing to the increase are illnesses and social disorders, two well known conditions being social anxiety and depression. By shutting themselves out from the real world, the only light being the screen of their television or computer and eyes glued to the screen, their basic needs are ignored. Sitting in a chair for hours on end, the body deteriorates from negligence. The different video game genres help fulfill basic psychological needs too, but can lead to a secret underlying problem. Playing for days can certainly feel like a medication taken everyday and life spinning out of control ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Calvinism In The Movie The Last Of The Mohicans The Last of the Mohicans is a 1992 movie, based in the late 1750s, during the French and Indian war. The French army is attacking Fort William Henry, a British outpost commanded by Colonel Munro. When Munro s daughters Alice and Cora wish to visit their father, they are escorted by Major Duncan Heyward and a Native American called Magua. Eventually joined by David Gamut, a follower of Calvinism. The group encounters the white scout Natty Bumppo, who goes by Hawkeye, along with Native Americans Chingachgook and Uncas, Chingachogook s son. They are last members of a dying Native American tribe, the Mohicans. Hawkeye says that Magua is lying and has led the group in the wrong direction, and he escapes. Magua and more Hurons attack the next morning and captures the group, while the Mohicans escape down the river. Magua wants revenge on Munro and proposed to free Alice if Cora marries him. Cora, however had romantic feelings for Uncas and refuses. The Mohicans than rescues the group and kill the Hurons except Magua, who escapes again. Eventually they make it to Fort William Henry, where Cora and Alice are reunited with their father. After a few days during the withdrawal of the troops, Magua is able to recapture Cora, Alice, and Gamut. Three days later, Heyward, Hawkeye, Munro, and the Mohicans began to track them down. Gamut explains that Magua sent Alice to a Huron camp and Cora to Delaware. The group eventually rescues Alice. A rogue Huron eventually kills Cora. Magua stabs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. BASF Motivation Statement I. The World largest chemical company with strong sustainability program According to business dictionary, environmental sustainability is the maintenance of the factors and practices that contribute to the quality of environment on a long term basis. (Business Dictionary) Any corporate has social responsibility to assess and take responsibility for the company s effects on the environment and impact on social welfare indefinitely. (professor Stenzel s article) However chemical companies sustainability efforts and involvement are critical. it was fascinating to see the biggest chemical company in the world, BASF involves and cares on sustainability. it has a potential sustainability program toward the environment and has potential to spread sustainability awareness among its reliable partners. As the biggest chemical company in the world, my classmate Ian Beason and I wanted to know how BASF pursue its sustainability effort and we interviewed James Peterson, BASF Marketing Manager. James Peterson has been working with BASF for 17 years. BASF measures its sustainability success by enhancing sustainability along the value chain, Quintuple Bottom Line, corporate social responsibility and community outreach and cooperating with government regulation. II. BASF creating chemistry for a sustainable future BASF is a 152 years old company that employs 150,000 people worldwide. It is a multibillionaire German based company. • 46. The And Debit Card Hackings You Got Hacked Within the past year, there have been many credit and debit card hackings that have occurred, mainly targeting businesses in the United States. The three main businesses that have been targeted and successfully hacked have been Target, with 40 million card holders having their cards compromised, JPMorgan Chase, with a total of 76 million households and 7 million businesses being compromised, and The Home Depot, with 56 million card holders being attacked (Silver Greenberg, Goldstein, Perlroth). In addition to the main stories about hacking that everyone hears about, there are many others that are never brought to the attention of consumers. Within the first half of 2014 alone, there were 76 breaches solely in the United States that caused credit card numbers to be compromised (Newsham). Learning about these situations struck me as extremely intriguing and lead me to want to learn even more about these hacking situations. In researching about this topic and looking in depth at all the information I found, I discovered that there are many other subtopics that interested me as well, including consumer hacking in general, how credit cards work, what technology is needed for credit cards to work, how information is stored safely within companies to prevent hacking, the technology behind hacking, the main programs used within hacking, if, and how, social media has effected hacking, learn more about what big name companies and bank franchises should be doing in ... • 47. Nt1330 Unit 4.2 Paper 4.2 Implementation Details 4.2.1 Data Source Random Bernoulli generator generates binary data on a per frame basis. In data output, 144 samples per frame are used, and data rate is 36 Mbps. Figure 4.2: Data Source 4.2.2 Forward Error Correction Coding A typical problem in OFDM based systems is a high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR). The available RF power amplifiers usually have a limited linear dynamic range. This is not a problem for constant amplitude signals, however, in OFDM, due to IFFT operation, some of the sub carriers add constructively to large amplitudes while others add destructively. The amplitude of the signals thus varies randomly and for large amplitude signals, non linear amplifications cause errors. Therefore, error correction codes are employed. In HiperLan2, the data is coded with a convolutional encoder of rate 1/2. The convolutional encoder uses the industry standard generator polynomials, g0 = 1338 and g1 = 1718, and is shown in Figure 4.3. The bit denoted as A is the first output from the encoder while the bit denoted B is the second one. Higher code rates are derived via puncturing. In puncturing, some of the encoded bits in the transmitter are removed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The stream of complex numbers is rearranged so that the pilots can be inserted. In each OFDM symbol, four pilot signals are inserted in order to make the coherent detection robust against frequency offsets and phase noise. The pilots are BPSK modulated by a pseudo binary sequence to prevent the generation of spectral lines [18]. A zero padded block adds zeros, in the right places, to adjust the IFFT bin size to length N. Selector block rearranges the sub carriers so that real signal output can be generated. The IFFT block then computes the Inverse Fast Fourier Transform (IFFT) of length N, where, for ease of implementation, N is a power of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With a culture of empowerment established, organizational success can be improved trough the innovative thoughts and actions of personnel. Issues addressed Launching a change from the normal work culture to one of empowerment can become a situation where both managers and employees feel intimidated. Managers may feel they will lose control of their departments while employees may feel they will lose support or may feel anxious about acquiring this new standing which they may feel unqualified. It is therefore important for the manager to demonstrate that they value and trust their employees, as well as realize. Displaying appreciation for employee uniqueness is the first step in achieving trust and loyalty. The appreciation displayed will help people feel that they are part of the organization, not only their individual job (Niehoff, Moorman, Blakely, Fuller , 2001, p. 97). By allowing the characteristic of trust and valuing the individuals, both the manager and employee can experience a sense of control and support. Insuring all employees know and have access to the organization s overall mission, vision, and strategic plans, and including them in the actual planning and accepting their input on the overall planning, will lead them in a direction that will display their commitment and competency (Allen, 2012). Involvement of employees in the goals and direction of the organization are imperative in the empowerment of the employee. Contributions from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
