Neil Peart Literary Techniques
In Neil Peart s Witch Hunt, an ignorant mob is attempting to change others in ways they see fit by
wanting to modify the dangerous media that wrongly influences society. Neil Peart expresses the mob
s ideas and actions using various literary techniques throughout the poem that convey a wicked and
corrupt tone. With egregious intentions, a mob of ignorant people will force others to think like them
in order to eliminate the false dangers within their civilization. Using devices such as imagery,
consonance, verbal and dramatic irony to create the overall message of how the people who know the
least about what is actually going on in society seem to do anything to ignore or get rid of change. In
the first stanza of the poem the reader is introduced to an uncanny setting where the oblivious mob
slowly rises in the dark night. The eerie diction creates a foreboding tone through vivid imagery,
creating the idea that something wicked is about to occur. Diction such as black, still, and lonely that

Symbolism is also included in this stanza, flickering light gives the reader the visual representation for
their incompetence. Consonance is seen in this stanza through Silent and stern in the sweltering night
and Quiet in conscience, calm in their right. In the first instance of consonance the speaker describes
the mob, the sound makes the mob sound like they are being sneaky. In the second one, the speaker s
use of a cacophony in an effort to point out how cynical the mob actually is. Quiet in conscience, calm
in their right can also be parallelism in that the speaker stresses the viewpoints of the mob to assist the
reader s analyzation of their intentions. Mesodiplosis constitutes that the mob detects no faults within
their belief showing the ignorance they

Rhetorical Analysis Of Salman Rushdie By Scott Russell...
In response to an essay by Salman Rushdie, author Scott Russell Sanders critiques Rushdie s assertion
that to be a migrant is, perhaps, to be the only species of human being free of the shackles of
naturalism (Rushdie). Sanders believes that constant movement and migration results in disastrous
consequences for the earth and for ourselves, and he argues that settling is essential for humans
(Sanders). In this passage, Sanders uses and inductive structure beginning with broad examples of
American romanticism of transient lifestyle, and ends with his thesis, leading the reader down a path
directly to his counter of Rushdie s claim. Furthermore, Sanders provides historical examples to
logically show the benefits of making a home in a restless world (Sanders). ... Show more content on

Our heroes have been sailors, explorers,... rainbow chasers, vagabonds, Sanders states, providing non
specific information relating to the American notion of migration. After describing the fundamentals
of mass migrations, Sanders then goes on to compare Salman Rushdie s steadfast support of human
relocation to America s enthusiasm for migration. (Sanders). Nevertheless, Sanders counters this
comparison by presenting evidence that refutes Rushdie s ideals. Concluding this passage, Sanders
establishes his thesis: by settling in, we have a chance of making a durable home for ourselves, our
fellow creatures, and our descendants. (Sanders). By following this inductive structure─moving from
broad information down to his thesis─Sanders is able to effectively execute his purpose of challenging
Rushdie and supporting settling in

Employee Productivity Is The Backbone Of Any Enterprise
Chapter 1: Problem Definition
Background
Employee productivity, also known as workforce productivity, is the backbone of any enterprise.
According to Amabile and Kramer (2012), the source of productivity at any company ...is the
individual knowledge workers who get things done every day (para. 1). And according to Axilrod
(2015), the typical employee is at his or her desk for an average of approximately five hours a day,
paid for by the company. Thus, in the current climate of globalization, outsourcing, downsizing, and
pension reduction, it is vital for administration and management to stay on top of what sustains
employee loyalty and employee productivity. Several elements contribute to effective employee
productivity, including employee job satisfaction and morale (Axilrod, 2015; Manson, 2014; Jarrow,
2013; Kaupelyte, 2013; Turner, 2013; Amabile Kramer, 2012; Walters, 2010; Bowles Cooper, 2009).
Neely (2013) asserts that Regardless of the profession or type of work, the central element that has
had a stake in productivity, longevity and overall success of any organization [is] employee morale (p.
13).
The technology sector is one of the fastest growing in the business, if not the fastest growing sector.
Like many others in other sectors, companies in the technology sector are facing the challenges of
employee productivity and are initiating actions toward performance management (Axilrod, 2015) to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Western Scientific Medicine
Western Scientific Medicine or WSM involves many healthcare professionals which include doctors
pharmacists and therapists in which they try to treat diseases or disorders with drugs surgery or other
forms of procedures such as radiotherapy. Traditional Medicine relates to many different cultures and
the way that many cultures prevented mental and physical illness as well as diagnosing the disorder
and improving the treatment. It is a total sum of different cultures combining the knowledge and skills
they had which was based on the theories and beliefs that the different cultures had. Complementary
and alternative medicine includes practises such as acupuncture, Tai Chi, Massages and drinking
infused teas such as green tea. CAM is not part of the same brand of WSM standard care.
Mindfulness Meditation(CAM): Mindfulness Meditation has a few advantages and disadvantages
surrounding it. Advantages wise, Mindfulness is easy to access online and around New Zealand. For

Understanding The Brain s Physical Operation
Understanding the brain s physical operation is essential to frame the relationship between brain and
mind. The brain functions as a result of many complex processes; however, Jeeves and Brown narrow
the brain s activity into eight critical principles. These principles provide a background necessary to
deduce insightful information from neuroscience s current research of the correlation between our
mental lives and brain systems.
The first principle describes the PNS and CNS as action loops. An action loop is equivalent to what
physiologists describe as a regulatory feedback loop. A feedback loop is composed of two nerve
branches, an afferent (incoming) arm and an efferent (outgoing) arm. Monitoring the two arms of the
feedback loop is an integrating center, which in most cases is the brain. Sensory information travels
via the afferent arm to the integrating center (brain), where the stimulus is evaluated. After evaluation,
the integrating center (brain) sends appropriate motor stimuli to specific tissues within the body. Thus,
an organism is always sensing and responding to its local environment. From this principle, Jeeves
and Brown suggest, Subjective thought and cognition are derived from this action processing,
including all the complex levels involved in modulating ongoing action (Jeeves and Brown, 2009, p.
42). Hence, the first principle describes how humans constantly interact with the environment around
them. The second principle describes a nested hierarchy of

A Thousand Splendid Suns Character Analysis
In A Thousand Splendid Suns and First They Killed My Father, we find the three female characters of
Laila and Mariam, and Loung, respectively, in harrowing and dangerous political atmospheres. Both
of the political atmospheres described in these two books expose these characters to harsh realities of
war, abuse, starvation, and oppression; these characters must also come to terms with a rising body
count around them. From Mariam s perspective, we hear that there was looting, murder, and,
increasingly, rape, which was used to intimidate civilians and reward militiamen (Hosseini 253).
Despite these despotic circumstances, and perhaps in spite of the physical toll they take, the three
female characters of these books exhibit extraordinary perseverance as a result of their tumultuous
surroundings.
The most prevalent and threatening theme that each character experiences first hand, as a result of the
dangerous political atmospheres they are exposed to, is starvation; we slowly see each character
physically diminished throughout their stories. Loung describes vividly to readers, I can count every
rib in my rib cage, but my stomach protrudes outward, bloated like a ball between my chest and hips
(Ung 83). Similarly, Mariam recounts how starvation had ravaged Laila s daughter s body: Aziza s
ribs began to push through the skin, and the fat from her cheeks vanished. Her calves thinned, and her
complexion turned the color of weak tea. When Mariam picked her up, she could feel her

Essay on Five Miles
Five Miles The winter air wraps me up like a thin, old blanket that is just about to break. I feel it
course through my lungs, searing my alveolar sacs as they desperately try to extract a few molecules
of oxygen from the air, renewing my depleted blood and sending it whooshing back to my legs and
arms traveling almost 12,000 miles in a day. And I was only doing five. I hit a hill and feel that
soreness in my legs, as if they had been wrung dry like a wet towel; sore but not hurting and then
hurting and then numb. Runner s high. I can go forever, my mind says. The hill was so long. I could

my ability to run. After all, the scariest thing I had to run away from in my childhood was my mother
as she chased me around the house to make me do my chores. Part of my private school life was
required physical education. Coming from public school, I wasn t sure what to expect from physical
education, but after some rationalization, I arrived at joining the cross country team in order to fulfill
my requirement. I arrived at cross country through the process of elimination. I couldn t kick a ball
and run in a straight line at the same time; no soccer. My arms weren t the size of tree trunks and I
didn t especially like being smelly and hitting people after school; no football. I also did not want to
spend my afternoons after school tapping oak trees behind our school for sap that we made into maple
syrup that somehow ended up being sold by the school for profit without us ever seeing the fruits of
our labor; no maple syrup harvesting. I didn t really know what the last one had to do with physical
education, but I knew I did not want to do it, and so I arrived at cross country. Before school started,
sports started. I went to school one day in early August for my first cross country practice. Dressed in

Alan Paton
In Alan Paton s novel Cry, The Beloved Country there are many characters that go through various
conflicts involving their experiences of fate. Stephen Kumalo is one of the major characters that lives
a lifestyle of a black man who works as a pastor and father. Another major character is James Jarvis,
but he is very different from Kumalo since he lives a lifestyle of a white man who works as a farmer

alliance[1] of the 2G spectrum to 85 companies[1] including many new telecom companies with little

How Pipes Can Help Confirm The Identity Of A Damaged Vessel
Pipes are often found at underwater archaeological sites and can provide valuable information,
regardless of their condition. Broken pipes can provide similar information to those found still fully
intact based on key features, as long as they are still preserved enough to identify. Based on such key
features, the origins of pipes can be traced back to their manufacturers, determining both where they
came from and the time period during which they were made. Because of this, pipes can be used to
help confirm the identity of a wrecked ship; pipes may be from the same country as the wreck and be
used as evidence to support claims of the origin of the ship, or from a different country or region
entirely, indicating some form of trade or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, with the ability to date these pipes, it can be possible to date the ship as well. By knowing the
relative date and origin of the ship, and if the pipes can be related to historical documents, there is
potential to positively identify the ship and support the claim.
Mediterranean and Ottoman style pipes are markedly different from their northern European
counterparts, allowing for distinctions to be made between different pipe making traditions. Pipe
smoking, concerning tobacco in particular, was popular within the Balkans, and evidence suggests that
it may have been practiced as early as the end of the sixteenth century (Batchvarov 3). Conversely, it
has also been argued the English introduced tobacco smoking at the start of the seventeenth century
(Batchvarov 3). Stub stemmed or reed pipes were popular in this area, as the remains of many were
found in harbors in the waters of Malta. This style of pipe is commonly found in association with
inhabited areas and trade routes across the Ottoman Empire (Wood 315). Of these pipes originating
from the Mediterranean that were discovered at a site in Dockyard Creek, Birgu, many had a keel joint
between the bowl and shank, a feature which begins in the late 17th early 18th century (Wood 317).
Due to this feature, it is possible to roughly date these pipes, as they could not be from a time period

Invictus And The Rose That Grew From Concrete By Tupac
Obstacles. Everyone has been forced to overcome them at some point in their life. These obstacles
have shaped everyone and helped them become the person they are today. Challenges are a part of life
and everyone will face them at some point in their life, but it is how people handle it that determines
their future. This idea can be seen in many pieces of text including the following poems. Invictus by
William Ernest Henley and The Rose That Grew From Concrete by Tupac both convey the idea that
obstacles are important in everyone s life and help shape everyone as a person on the way to their
dream.
Through Invictus William Ernest Henley shows that if people did not run into obstacles in their life,
no one would know who they truly are. The use of imagery shows this theme in that it allows the
readers to feel and see the pain that the writer is going through. For example, William Henley says, I
have not winced nor cried aloud./ my head is bloody, but unbowed (6 8). This device is being used to
demonstrate the difficult journey that the author was given to go on, in order reach his dream and be in
control of their life. It shows the theme of this poem because it speaks about the low points in a person
s life and about how by not giving in they become stronger. This device also shows that though they
have been beaten down multiple times they refuse to be broken. Another device that Henley uses is
diction. He uses this device to stress the importance of different words

Erasmus s Abuse Of The Catholic Church
A Dutch man named Erasmus was one of the first to become angered with the Church about its
abuses. Erasmus was greatly displeased, but not displeased enough to leave the Church. Martin Luther
(a German professor, composer, priest, and monk) tagged in where Erasmus left off and became the
father of the Reformation. Luther argued that there were many issues within the Roman Catholic
Church which he outlined in his Ninety five Thesis. Some of these included the abuses of the Church,
the opulence of the Church, and the overemphasis of good works. Martin Luther recognized and
brought to attention the abuses of the Catholic Church. One of these was the selling of Church offices.
Men were allowed to offer the Church a great sum of money to have a Church office such as a Bishop.
Once they were in office long enough, they were able to regain the money they invested in the
position and more. The Church was also selling indulgences, in which a person could supposedly
exchange money for the forgiveness of his or her sins. Luther a, lso believed that the Pope and Rome
had excessive power. Furthermore, Luther brought the opulence of the Church to attention. The

Church were meaningless. He also believed that the sacraments were overemphasized. For example,

Comparing Film Versions Of Baz Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet is one of the most tragic love stories ever written. It was written by William
Shakespeare in 1594. There have been many remakes of the play such as Romeo and Juliet directed by
Baz Luhrmann in 1996, Gnomeo and Juliet directed by Kelly Asbury in 2011, and many school plays
reenacting it. The film version by Baz Luhrmann and the script by William Shakespeare can be
compared using three scenes: the balcony scene, Tybalt s death scene, and the final suicide scene. The
balcony scene in Act 2, scene 2 is a major scene both in the film and the script. In the script Juliet
never comes down from her balcony, but in the film they are pool side together and make contact with
each other. They eventually fall into the pool where they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the film, Romeo and Tybalt end up driving cars, but in the script they are on ground the whole time.
Before actually killing Tybalt, Romeo injures him very bad in the film, but not in the movie. Finally,
Tybalt is killed with a gun in the film, whereas in the movie he is killed by a dagger. The final suicide
scene in Act 5, scene 3 is the greatest scene in both the film and the script. In the script, Juliet s body
was in the Capulet tomb, but in the film Juliet s body was in a church. There were lit candles
surrounding Juliet s body and lighting up the church in the film. Paris was not there for Romeo to kill
in the film like he was in the script. In the film, Juliet wakes up and sees Romeo drink the poison and
die, but when she wakes up in the script he is already dead. Instead of using Romeo s dagger like in
the script, Juliet kills herself with Romeo s gun in the film. As one can see, the film and the script can
be compared using many different scenes. The play was more tragic than the film and had a very clear
context. The film had more sound effects and visuals whereas in the script you had to imagine what
everyone would look like and picture what all the scenes would be like. Romeo and Juliet is the
greatest love story ever written, although it ended in a tragedy. For never was a story of more woe,
than this of Juliet and her

Peter Singer And John Arthur s Views On Famine And Affluence
Peter Singer and John Arthur s views on Famine and Affluence
All living things need four basic elements for survival: food, water, shelter, and fire. There are
portions of the world that have difficulty finding some or all of these four basic elements for survival.
The United States is the top affluent country in the world, which often creates issues regarding
morality. America is known as the land of opportunities where someone could attain a job to afford
housing, food, warmth, and so on for their families and themselves. The fact that Americans are able
to afford to supply themselves beyond the essentials puts us in a position that can be disputed: should
we supply for others who cannot attain basic elements for survival? In a piece by Peter Singer entitled,
Famine, Affluence, and Morality, Singer argues that Americans should prevent atrocious situations to
arise but, we also should not sacrifice something of equal importance while doing so. Moreover, in the
piece by John Arthur, World Hunger and Moral Obligation: The Case Against Singer, Arthur disagrees
with Singer; he believes that we should help the poverty stricken but, it is not morally imperative to do
so. The main point Singer is trying to show his audience is that we should try to prevent unfortunate
circumstances to arise for others but we should do so without losing something of equal importance to
us. This means that we should help the less fortunate but without putting ourselves

Say Goodbye to Pen and Paper
Digital literacy is the capability to use technology to locate, use, or create information. The digital age
we are in now is drastically changing the way we write. There is no limit or template for writing
online making it open to anytime of interpretation. Some believe that this is not constructive in
moving forward but others accept the change and grow with it. This makes digital literacy such an
interesting topic to debate and to understand. Finally, online writing can be used for so many different
purposes making it a universal tool.

I agree with that students now have to adapt and learn this new way of writing but not all schools are
keeping up with it. Learning the new skills involved with online writing is going to help young people
like myself succeed in communication online. I believe that this new era of digital writing is both
beneficial yet may still have consequences with it. One of the main advantages of digital writing is
that it is so easy to get your ideas, opinions, and knowledge out to the world. Anyone with one
hundred and forty characters and a click of a button can potentially change how we see the world,
spark a new interest in you, or inspire you to do the same. Another advantage is that the worldwide
web expands learning opportunities and adds a new feature of being able to collaborate on learning as
well. In addition, another important feature is the content is relevant to world we live in now. Even
though it was critical to write about what happened in the past, it also beneficial to be able to write

The online gambling push is also coming to a close consideration with legality and within the next ten

Advantages Of Fast Food
In reality of the modern era, there are many fast food outlets worldwide and continues being a popular
choice for majority of the population, mostly due to it being fast and ready to go anytime and
anywhere. However, obesity being caused by fast food restaurants has been the subject of worldwide
debate for many years now as there have been campaigns and boycotts against several fast food
restaurants such as McDonalds, Burger King and KFC. This essay will go more into detail about how
fast food is one of the main contributors to obesity, people pushing the blame to fast food and why fast
food is cheaper compared to healthier food.
To begin with, people have been blaming fast food for childhood obesity but fast food cannot be

Also, fast food is readily available everywhere, and whenever you want regardless of time and
location. According to Gagnon and Freudenberg (2012), research stated that low income
neighbourhoods have disproportionately higher concentrations of fast food outlets. These industries
are successful because they offer consumers a quick, more affordable, convenient and tasty meal that
is mostly high in fat and salt content and low in fiber and calcium (The Heart Links Project: Dangers
of Eating Fast Food, (n.d.)). Most fast food restaurants have similar layouts such as having a limited
menu, minimal service, and inexpensive food served quickly to customers. Sales are expected to rise
as fast food restaurants meet the needs of current consumers which are convenience, being
inexpensive, and having meals served quick. Trends toward longer workdays, combined with the
growing number of dual income families and, low income communities make fast food an extremely

On The Other Hand, Banks Also Face Some Negative Aspects
On the other hand, banks also face some negative aspects to online banking. One disadvantage is that
they lose the one on one interaction with their customers. If people no longer need to visit the bank to
conduct their transactions, the banks lose that special connection that they once had with their
customers and for some customers they value that personal connection. Additionally, from the banks
perspective, they do not get the opportunity to develop personal relations with their customers. The
more personable the banks are with their customers the more secure their customers accounts may be.

Conversely, customers also have negative views about online banking. One being the lack of personal
relationships that are formed when carrying out all their transactions at the bank. People often find it
easier to talk to another person about a problem they are having instead of trying to search online for
the answer. Having a relationship with a professional at your bank that understands your personal
needs often makes the customer feel special and help ease any worries that they may have when faced
with any type of banking questions. Additionally, certain services such as notarization and bank
signature guarantees are not available online. As previously mentioned, security is a major concern
with online banking. Many customers are nervous about allowing a bank to have access and records of
their sensitive and important financial information. Hacking and identity theft is a fairly common
occurrence so for customers to be wary about turning over all their financial information to the
internet is justifiable (Geoffrey). As technology becomes more and more advanced, the demand for
new innovative technology grows as well. As a nation, we have been moving increasingly towards a
more digital world and that is also true for our banking industry. The physical action of walking into a
bank to execute our banking needs is becoming less common and online banking is taking its place.
ATMs are also a version of online banking that has been a

Virginity in 17th and 18th Century Poetry Essay examples
Virginity in 17th and 18th Century Poetry
Benjamin Franklin once said that there were only two inevitable things in life: death and taxes. He got
it half right. They did, in fact, die with pretty regular certainty. However, what was inevitable was sex.
Without it, there wouldn t be any new people to die and poor Ben Franklin would have been
completely wrong. The only hindrance to this certainty was (and remains) virgins. The realm of the
chaste has been explored in poetry throughout time, but never was the subject as thoroughly probed as
in the 17th and 18th century. To judge by the poets of the time, one would conclude that next to dying
the citizens of this era spent most of their time either praising the virtuous, trying to ... Show more

Again, the virtue itself is not exactly being praised so much as being alluded to as a component of
something good.
The women also had their say. In Katherine Phillips s A Married State (1679), the many advantages of
a life of chastity are listed. Phillips says A virgin s state is crowned with much content; / It s always
happy as it s innocent. In addition to innocence, Phillips points out that there are no grouchy husbands,
no screaming children and nothing else to distract you from your service to God. In fact, wistful
women wishing they d kept their virginity and wedding vows to themselves wrote many poems in this
era. It is a telling social commentary that so many married women would wish themselves back to live
a life of chaste penitence than to enter into so called wedded bliss.
The most common theme in virginity poems is that of men trying to get women to change their minds
and go to bed with them. Many poets tried to use persuasion on their objects of desire. In Robert
Herrick s To the Virgins to Make Much of Time, the well known first line Gather ye rosebuds while ye
may appears. This poem is an appeal to virtuous women to use it while they ve got it, per se. In the
proud tradition of soldiers who will be sent off tomorrow who just know they aren t coming back and
hedonists everywhere, Herrick emphasizes that time is short and virgins are wasting their youths

America s great Reconstruction Era took place in the 1865 1877 time frame lasting a little over 14

President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1st in 1863 announcing that all
people held as slaves shall be free. Lincoln hoped to inspire all blacks and slaves in the Confederacy
even though the proclamation was limited in many ways. It applied only to states that had seceded
from the Union, leaving slavery untouched in the loyal border states. While the freedom was promised
depended upon the Union military victory. The Emancipation Proclamation did not end slavery in the
nation but shaped the reasoning for war. Approximately 200,000 black soldiers and sailors had fought
for freedom and the Union. This confirmed the battle a war for freedom. For all that the Emancipation
Proclamation did for freedom, it is now taken place among the great documents of human freedom.
This amendment effected our nation in many ways. It negatively affected families and friends
relationships by choosing their own sides of the wars and what they felt were right. Some white
farmers had to sell their farms due to losing slave workers and most whites were unhappy. By
abolishing slavery we were able to make many positive changes as well including the economy. Many
job opportunities opened up for white people due to the lack of slaves while blacks had a hard time
finding jobs at first but were even able to eventually find jobs for themselves(ushistory.org,2008
2017). As

A Very Thoughtful Look Into Inner City Violence And The...
Part biography, part social view, a very thoughtful look into inner city violence and the rules
surrounding it. This book describes how his personal history with violence influenced his work with
youth and the programs that he has started to support youth. Geoffrey Canada describes the
progression of violence that had happened in his lifetime. He also points out that there is a disturbing
difference between what the streets were like in the 1960s compared to those of today. Mr. Canada is a
great storyteller and is thoroughly convincing. His Book Fist Stick Knife Gun, is a great explanation
of violence and poverty in late 20th century here in America. His story of how he changed from a
timid and frightened child into a young man who could hold his own in a fight in the streets is written
in a believable way. Canada actually learned the way of the streets because he grew up in the streets It
first started when he was a child when he and his friends used their fists to settle disputes and to gain a
reputation that would bring respect from the other kids in the neighborhood. Sometimes those disputes
would escalate with other weapons like a knife. Mr. Canada grew up in the South Bronx in the 1960s,
when violence was ever present but guns were not. There were a very few adult men in the
neighborhood, and the police were of very little assistance. When he was not even old enough to be in
first grade he was mugged on multiple times by older, bigger kids. He was

Disney s The Lion King Essay
The Lion King
Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance,
and respect all the creatures from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope, said Mufasa, a supporting
character in the film depiction of Walt Disney s: The Lion King (1994). The Lion King is a timeless
archetypal work that time after time has given youth hope and has shown them that courage is not
always innate, but can be learned from just living life with a little hakuna matata . The Lion King,
through the use of classic archetype, vivid surrealism, and iconic symbolism, shows a coming to age
story that shows children that life is an adventure worth the trouble. The Hero s Journey is an

Simba takes his rightful place on pride rock on his road back home. Simba is resurrected he is
accepted back into the Pride and he returns with the Elixir and the pride lands are returned to normal.
Simba went through the journey from start to finish in what that viewer saw as continual growth and
development of courage.
The film s use of surrealism is masterfully placed in a way that is interesting to the average viewer.
The most notable area in the film is when Simba is thinking about should he leave to go to the pride
lands and his father s image appears in the stars. He receives guidance from beyond. The reason why it
was such a compelling scene was because Mufasa s reappearance validated to the audience that Simba
was never alone. He was being watched over by his father in a type of mystical protection. Rafiki, a
type of witch doctor, is the most surreal character in the entire film. He knows things before they are
said and he give Simba and support that he needs as king. If Rafiki would have never made Mufasa s
image reappear in the sky, Simba would have never returned to go back to the Pride Lands with out
him seeing his father again. Rafiki tells Simba that there was a very peculiar weather and that he too
saw the spirit of Mufasa and that he was not only seeing him in his mind.
Iconic symbolism is used through out the movie. As the movie begins, The Circle of Life plays with
the setting sun. The setting sun is an interpretation that life a never ending

The Themes and Motivations Behind George Orwell s 1984
ABSTRACT Anyone who considers themselves a lover of good fiction must know who George
Orwell is. Anyone who loves good cynical fiction has to have read his master piece, simply titled

Analysis Of Wonder By R. J Palacio
Wonder by R.J. Palacio is a story about a ten year old fifth grader, August Pullman, who is born with a
facial deformity. August starts school at Beecher Prep, a private school in upper Manhattan, after
being homeschooled for the last five years. He struggles to make friends at first, but meets Summer
Dawson and Jack Will, who become his friends. On Halloween, August dresses up in a Bleeding
Scream costume when everybody at school is expecting him to dress up as Boba Fett. Not realizing it
s August, Jack says, I ve thought about this a lot, and I really think...if I looked liked him, seriously I
think that I d kill myself (Palacio 77). Although August is initially hurt by Jack s words, surprisingly
they make up. At the annual fifth grade field trip, August and Jack seek a place to go the bathroom in
the woods when they are maliciously made fun of by some seventh graders from another school. They
get out of the situation when some students who had made fun of August before come to his defense.
At the fifth grade graduation, August does the unthinkable: He wins the Henry Ward Beecher award
for a student whose quiet strength has carried them up to the most hearts (Palacio 304).
Setting
Students will relate to the setting of Wonder well because it takes place in a school and Palacio
describes it so well with many vivid details. The book is set in the upper east side of Manhattan in
present day time. Much of the book takes place at Beecher Prep, a private school for

The Health Economics and Financing textbook provides me a lot of knowledge of how health and

tend to pay for healthcare services no matter how much the cost as long as they can afford. Everything

importance of healthcare.

the past decades. While more and more people go to medical school, there are more and more medical

Hap Poem By John Clarke
What is Hap? I don t know. A name? The poem, Hap, is about undeserved suffering. The narrator has
suffered the loss of his love by chance, and he is desperate to know a reason why. That way, he could
hold onto his resentment and die, holding onto the knowledge that his love at least died for a reason.
The narrator wants to know that there was deliberate thought put into his love s removal from earth,
that someone had recognized and acknowledged the suffering he is experiencing. As it is, he is
dumbfoundedly numb knowing his lover died by chance, for no reason, as easily as one loses at dice.
The narrator in this poem had known bliss in the form of his love. He refers to his love simply as joy
at one point, as if all the joy in his life

  • 2. Neil Peart Literary Techniques In Neil Peart s Witch Hunt, an ignorant mob is attempting to change others in ways they see fit by wanting to modify the dangerous media that wrongly influences society. Neil Peart expresses the mob s ideas and actions using various literary techniques throughout the poem that convey a wicked and corrupt tone. With egregious intentions, a mob of ignorant people will force others to think like them in order to eliminate the false dangers within their civilization. Using devices such as imagery, consonance, verbal and dramatic irony to create the overall message of how the people who know the least about what is actually going on in society seem to do anything to ignore or get rid of change. In the first stanza of the poem the reader is introduced to an uncanny setting where the oblivious mob slowly rises in the dark night. The eerie diction creates a foreboding tone through vivid imagery, creating the idea that something wicked is about to occur. Diction such as black, still, and lonely that really ... Consonance is seen in this stanza through Silent and stern in the sweltering night and Quiet in conscience, calm in their right. In the first instance of consonance the speaker describes the mob, the sound makes the mob sound like they are being sneaky. In the second one, the speaker s use of a cacophony in an effort to point out how cynical the mob actually is. Quiet in conscience, calm in their right can also be parallelism in that the speaker stresses the viewpoints of the mob to assist the reader s analyzation of their intentions. • 3. Rhetorical Analysis Of Salman Rushdie By Scott Russell... In response to an essay by Salman Rushdie, author Scott Russell Sanders critiques Rushdie s assertion that to be a migrant is, perhaps, to be the only species of human being free of the shackles of naturalism (Rushdie). Sanders believes that constant movement and migration results in disastrous consequences for the earth and for ourselves, and he argues that settling is essential for humans (Sanders). In this passage, Sanders uses and inductive structure beginning with broad examples of American romanticism of transient lifestyle, and ends with his thesis, leading the reader down a path directly to his counter of Rushdie s claim. Furthermore, Sanders provides historical examples to logically show the benefits of making a home in a restless world (Sanders). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our heroes have been sailors, explorers,... rainbow chasers, vagabonds, Sanders states, providing non specific information relating to the American notion of migration. After describing the fundamentals of mass migrations, Sanders then goes on to compare Salman Rushdie s steadfast support of human relocation to America s enthusiasm for migration. (Sanders). Nevertheless, Sanders counters this comparison by presenting evidence that refutes Rushdie s ideals. Concluding this passage, Sanders establishes his thesis: by settling in, we have a chance of making a durable home for ourselves, our fellow creatures, and our descendants. (Sanders). By following this inductive structure─moving from broad information down to his thesis─Sanders is able to effectively execute his purpose of challenging Rushdie and supporting settling in ... • 4. Employee Productivity Is The Backbone Of Any Enterprise Chapter 1: Problem Definition Background Employee productivity, also known as workforce productivity, is the backbone of any enterprise. According to Amabile and Kramer (2012), the source of productivity at any company ...is the individual knowledge workers who get things done every day (para. 1). And according to Axilrod (2015), the typical employee is at his or her desk for an average of approximately five hours a day, paid for by the company. Thus, in the current climate of globalization, outsourcing, downsizing, and pension reduction, it is vital for administration and management to stay on top of what sustains employee loyalty and employee productivity. Several elements contribute to effective employee productivity, including employee job satisfaction and morale (Axilrod, 2015; Manson, 2014; Jarrow, 2013; Kaupelyte, 2013; Turner, 2013; Amabile Kramer, 2012; Walters, 2010; Bowles Cooper, 2009). Neely (2013) asserts that Regardless of the profession or type of work, the central element that has had a stake in productivity, longevity and overall success of any organization [is] employee morale (p. 13). The technology sector is one of the fastest growing in the business, if not the fastest growing sector. Like many others in other sectors, companies in the technology sector are facing the challenges of employee productivity and are initiating actions toward performance management (Axilrod, 2015) to ...focus... on the performance of employees and [ensure] their ... • 6. Understanding The Brain s Physical Operation Understanding the brain s physical operation is essential to frame the relationship between brain and mind. The brain functions as a result of many complex processes; however, Jeeves and Brown narrow the brain s activity into eight critical principles. These principles provide a background necessary to deduce insightful information from neuroscience s current research of the correlation between our mental lives and brain systems. The first principle describes the PNS and CNS as action loops. An action loop is equivalent to what physiologists describe as a regulatory feedback loop. A feedback loop is composed of two nerve branches, an afferent (incoming) arm and an efferent (outgoing) arm. Monitoring the two arms of the feedback loop is an integrating center, which in most cases is the brain. Sensory information travels via the afferent arm to the integrating center (brain), where the stimulus is evaluated. After evaluation, the integrating center (brain) sends appropriate motor stimuli to specific tissues within the body. Thus, an organism is always sensing and responding to its local environment. From this principle, Jeeves and Brown suggest, Subjective thought and cognition are derived from this action processing, including all the complex levels involved in modulating ongoing action (Jeeves and Brown, 2009, p. 42). Hence, the first principle describes how humans constantly interact with the environment around them. The second principle describes a nested hierarchy of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. A Thousand Splendid Suns Character Analysis In A Thousand Splendid Suns and First They Killed My Father, we find the three female characters of Laila and Mariam, and Loung, respectively, in harrowing and dangerous political atmospheres. Both of the political atmospheres described in these two books expose these characters to harsh realities of war, abuse, starvation, and oppression; these characters must also come to terms with a rising body count around them. From Mariam s perspective, we hear that there was looting, murder, and, increasingly, rape, which was used to intimidate civilians and reward militiamen (Hosseini 253). Despite these despotic circumstances, and perhaps in spite of the physical toll they take, the three female characters of these books exhibit extraordinary perseverance as a result of their tumultuous surroundings. The most prevalent and threatening theme that each character experiences first hand, as a result of the dangerous political atmospheres they are exposed to, is starvation; we slowly see each character physically diminished throughout their stories. Loung describes vividly to readers, I can count every rib in my rib cage, but my stomach protrudes outward, bloated like a ball between my chest and hips (Ung 83). Similarly, Mariam recounts how starvation had ravaged Laila s daughter s body: Aziza s ribs began to push through the skin, and the fat from her cheeks vanished. Her calves thinned, and her complexion turned the color of weak tea. When Mariam picked her up, she could feel her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Essay on Five Miles Five Miles The winter air wraps me up like a thin, old blanket that is just about to break. I feel it course through my lungs, searing my alveolar sacs as they desperately try to extract a few molecules of oxygen from the air, renewing my depleted blood and sending it whooshing back to my legs and arms traveling almost 12,000 miles in a day. And I was only doing five. I hit a hill and feel that soreness in my legs, as if they had been wrung dry like a wet towel; sore but not hurting and then hurting and then numb. Runner s high. I can go forever, my mind says. The hill was so long. I could feel my lungs in my throat, as if they had climbed up my trachea and into my mouth so that they could get more oxygen. I ran ... After all, the scariest thing I had to run away from in my childhood was my mother as she chased me around the house to make me do my chores. Part of my private school life was required physical education. Coming from public school, I wasn t sure what to expect from physical education, but after some rationalization, I arrived at joining the cross country team in order to fulfill my requirement. I arrived at cross country through the process of elimination. I couldn t kick a ball and run in a straight line at the same time; no soccer. My arms weren t the size of tree trunks and I didn t especially like being smelly and hitting people after school; no football. I also did not want to spend my afternoons after school tapping oak trees behind our school for sap that we made into maple syrup that somehow ended up being sold by the school for profit without us ever seeing the fruits of our labor; no maple syrup harvesting. I didn t really know what the last one had to do with physical education, but I knew I did not want to do it, and so I arrived at cross country. Before school started, sports started. I went to school one day in early August for my first cross country practice. Dressed in new shoes, new socks, new running shorts and with a cold water bottle, I was ready for anything. On the other hand, Kumalo views the church as a place that brings people together, and it is sung in love and humility and gratitude, and the humble simple people pour their lives into the song (257). Broken pipes can provide similar information to those found still fully intact based on key features, as long as they are still preserved enough to identify. Based on such key features, the origins of pipes can be traced back to their manufacturers, determining both where they came from and the time period during which they were made. This idea can be seen in many pieces of text including the following poems. Invictus by William Ernest Henley and The Rose That Grew From Concrete by Tupac both convey the idea that obstacles are important in everyone s life and help shape everyone as a person on the way to their dream. Through Invictus William Ernest Henley shows that if people did not run into obstacles in their life, no one would know who they truly are. The use of imagery shows this theme in that it allows the readers to feel and see the pain that the writer is going through. Some of these included the abuses of the Church, the opulence of the Church, and the overemphasis of good works. Martin Luther recognized and brought to attention the abuses of the Catholic Church. One of these was the selling of Church offices. Men were allowed to offer the Church a great sum of money to have a Church office such as a Bishop. President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1st in 1863 announcing that all people held as slaves shall be free. Lincoln hoped to inspire all blacks and slaves in the Confederacy even though the proclamation was limited in many ways. It applied only to states that had seceded from the Union, leaving slavery untouched in the loyal border states. While the freedom was promised depended upon the Union military victory. The Emancipation Proclamation did not end slavery in the nation but shaped the reasoning for war. Approximately 200,000 black soldiers and sailors had fought for freedom and the Union. This confirmed the battle a war for freedom. For all that the Emancipation Proclamation did for freedom, it is now taken place among the great documents of human freedom. This amendment effected our nation in many ways. It negatively affected families and friends relationships by choosing their own sides of the wars and what they felt were right. Some white farmers had to sell their farms due to losing slave workers and most whites were unhappy. By abolishing slavery we were able to make many positive changes as well including the economy. Many job opportunities opened up for white people due to the lack of slaves while blacks had a hard time finding jobs at first but were even able to eventually find jobs for themselves(ushistory.org,2008 2017). • 32. A Very Thoughtful Look Into Inner City Violence And The... Part biography, part social view, a very thoughtful look into inner city violence and the rules surrounding it. This book describes how his personal history with violence influenced his work with youth and the programs that he has started to support youth. Geoffrey Canada describes the progression of violence that had happened in his lifetime. He also points out that there is a disturbing difference between what the streets were like in the 1960s compared to those of today. Mr. Canada is a great storyteller and is thoroughly convincing. His Book Fist Stick Knife Gun, is a great explanation of violence and poverty in late 20th century here in America. His story of how he changed from a timid and frightened child into a young man who could hold his own in a fight in the streets is written in a believable way. Canada actually learned the way of the streets because he grew up in the streets It first started when he was a child when he and his friends used their fists to settle disputes and to gain a reputation that would bring respect from the other kids in the neighborhood. Sometimes those disputes would escalate with other weapons like a knife. Mr. Canada grew up in the South Bronx in the 1960s, when violence was ever present but guns were not. There were a very few adult men in the neighborhood, and the police were of very little assistance. When he was not even old enough to be in first grade he was mugged on multiple times by older, bigger kids. He was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Disney s The Lion King Essay The Lion King Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance, and respect all the creatures from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope, said Mufasa, a supporting character in the film depiction of Walt Disney s: The Lion King (1994). The Lion King is a timeless archetypal work that time after time has given youth hope and has shown them that courage is not always innate, but can be learned from just living life with a little hakuna matata . The Lion King, through the use of classic archetype, vivid surrealism, and iconic symbolism, shows a coming to age story that shows children that life is an adventure worth the trouble. The Hero s Journey is an archetype that has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simba takes his rightful place on pride rock on his road back home. Simba is resurrected he is accepted back into the Pride and he returns with the Elixir and the pride lands are returned to normal. Simba went through the journey from start to finish in what that viewer saw as continual growth and development of courage. The film s use of surrealism is masterfully placed in a way that is interesting to the average viewer. The most notable area in the film is when Simba is thinking about should he leave to go to the pride lands and his father s image appears in the stars. He receives guidance from beyond. The reason why it was such a compelling scene was because Mufasa s reappearance validated to the audience that Simba was never alone. He was being watched over by his father in a type of mystical protection. Rafiki, a type of witch doctor, is the most surreal character in the entire film. He knows things before they are said and he give Simba and support that he needs as king. If Rafiki would have never made Mufasa s image reappear in the sky, Simba would have never returned to go back to the Pride Lands with out him seeing his father again. Rafiki tells Simba that there was a very peculiar weather and that he too saw the spirit of Mufasa and that he was not only seeing him in his mind. Iconic symbolism is used through out the movie. As the movie begins, The Circle of Life plays with the setting sun. The setting sun is an interpretation that life a never ending ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

August starts school at Beecher Prep, a private school in upper Manhattan, after being homeschooled for the last five years. He struggles to make friends at first, but meets Summer Dawson and Jack Will, who become his friends. On Halloween, August dresses up in a Bleeding Scream costume when everybody at school is expecting him to dress up as Boba Fett. Not realizing it s August, Jack says, I ve thought about this a lot, and I really think...if I looked liked him, seriously I think that I d kill myself (Palacio 77). Although August is initially hurt by Jack s words, surprisingly they make up. They get out of the situation when some students who had made fun of August before come to his defense. At the fifth grade graduation, August does the unthinkable: He wins the Henry Ward Beecher award for a student whose quiet strength has carried them up to the most hearts (Palacio 304). • 36. Health Economics And Healthcare The Health Economics and Financing textbook provides me a lot of knowledge of how health and healthcare play important roles in economy. Before reading the textbook, I wasn t really aware that health could be a key factor that drive economic growth. However, after reading this textbook, I have learned that healthcare is completely different than any other goods since it is a necessity, and people tend to pay for healthcare services no matter how much the cost as long as they can afford. Everything in the textbook is important, but for me, the biggest take away point from the textbook is the importance of healthcare. As an necessity, healthcare services has been one of the most important components in our lives. Without health, people would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before reading this chapter, I did know that geographic maldistribution of physicians potentially led to geographic disparities in health. But after I read the text, I have obtained an in depth understanding of how to adjust physician supply by applying some policies, such as balancing income. On the other hand, I have learned that the increase enrollment of medical school has changed physician supply over the past decades. While more and more people go to medical school, there are more and more medical specialties in the future. In general, I feel like there will be adequate physician supply, but it may not be distributed evenly to each place. Therefore, I believe that some appropriate interventions and policies should be considered for balancing the supply. One of the reasons why I think physician supply is an important concept is that it is strongly associated with one s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Hap Poem By John Clarke What is Hap? I don t know. A name? The poem, Hap, is about undeserved suffering. The narrator has suffered the loss of his love by chance, and he is desperate to know a reason why. That way, he could hold onto his resentment and die, holding onto the knowledge that his love at least died for a reason. The narrator wants to know that there was deliberate thought put into his love s removal from earth, that someone had recognized and acknowledged the suffering he is experiencing. As it is, he is dumbfoundedly numb knowing his lover died by chance, for no reason, as easily as one loses at dice. The narrator in this poem had known bliss in the form of his love. He refers to his love simply as joy at one point, as if all the joy in his life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
