Health Information Exchange And The Health Care Field
Health information exchange has become a very important part of today s health care field. It is used
every day, in almost every part of the medical field. Electronic medical records, digital imaging, e
mails, and fax are all used daily. Health information exchange has moved forward the health care field
and helped medical professionals give their patients faster, more efficient and safer care day to day. In
this paper, you will read about the history of the health information exchange, the benefits, the privacy
and security concerns, and the current challenges faced by the workers in the health information field.

While many people believe that health information exchange is a relatively new thing, it has been
around for over four decades. However, in the beginning phases it was nowhere near as complex as it
is now. Sometime in the middle of the 60 s, an early form of a data processing system was formed and
it focuses on clinical data management. This system began to catch on even though they were nowhere
near as sophisticated and or functional as the health records in today s time. In 1972, at the Regenstrief
Institute the first medical record system was created as a modular system to provide service functions
for clinics, laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy ( Structure, Functions, and Activities of a Research
Support Informatics Section, 2003). This was a pilot project in a diabetes clinic and not something
they thought would change the face of health information forever. However, when it was first made it
was not attractive to many doctors due to the high cost but was used mostly by government hospitals
since they had the funds to use them. To this day, the most comprehensive medical records system
could be found in the Regenstrief Medical Records System based in Indianapolis. This records system
is mostly in thanks to Clement McDonald, who is the director of the Regenstrief Institute. In 1991, the
Institute of Medicine stated that by the year 2000, it would be smart for

For those of us living across the world from relatives, we have the luxury of visiting their country
every now and then. Therefore, our worldviews are not limited to a particular hemisphere. The same
privilege rarely applies to them, since they usually confine themselves to the areas within their country
or nearby countries. However, merely experiencing a certain way of life isn t enough until
appreciating different perspectives. My Vietnamese cousin Thai Minh experiences the latter places of

Interdependence Between the Species
INTERDEPENDENCE BETWEEN THE SPECIES INTERACTION BETWEEN PLANTS AND
ANIMALS: Animals are depending upon plants for their food shelter and also for various things.
ANIMALS HELP PLANTS IN DIFFERENT WAYS 1.Many animals are involved in the pollination
in plants. 2.Fruits and seeds of many plants are dispersed by animals 3.Decomposers convert organic
substances into inorganic substances so that plants can absorb them easily. SPECIES INTERACTION
All types of relationship between organisms can be divided into two 1)Positive interaction which is
beneficial to one or both partners. These include a) commensalism b)proto co operation c) mutualism
2)Negative interaction which is harmful to one or more of the participants. These include ... Show

2.Epiphytes and epizoans: Epiphytes are plants that grow perched on other plants only as support and
not for food and water. They are provided with special roots called velamin roots, which can take up
water from the moisture. Epizoans are plants that grow on the body of animals. Eg the green algae
grow on the long, grooved hairs of the sloth. Sucker fish attaches itself to the body of a shark. A
commensal that lives inside the body of the host is referred to as endocommensal. 1.Some saprophytic
fungi and bacteria live within the tissues and cavities of higher plants and animals. Some microbes are
seen in the lower intestines of animals.(Here they are not taking anything from the host s body)
2.Termite nests provide ecologic niches for more than a 100 species of other animals such as ants,
beetles and millipeds. 3.A oyster crab, Pinnothers ostreum is found in the mantle cavity of the oyster.
In addition to shelter it also gets food from the host molluscs, oyster without causing any harm.
PROTOCOOPERATION : It is a short step ahead of commensalism and cooperation. In this
relationship, both organisms gain by the association and are mutually benefited(facultative mutualism)
Eg the Red billed Oxpecker form protocooperation with Black Rhinoceros the bird feed on the
parasites sticking on the skin of the rhinoceros relieving him of the parasites, and inturn obtaining

Ali Hale Writing Process Analysis
In this week s article, the author, Ali Hale wrote about the five steps of the writing process. These
steps includes prewriting, writing, revising, editing and publishing. Prewriting is the first step of the
writing process, this step allows the writer to form ideas and write them down. Once they get an idea
of what to write, they can either brainstorm or free write. Brainstorm means writing down any ideas
that comes to mind on a piece of paper with the main idea in the center. These ideas can be subtopics
or directions to the article. On the other hand, free write is when the writer starts writing their ideas
down about the topic and not worry about grammar, spelling and punctuations. After the writer is done
they can decide on what is

Wills Law Essay
Wills Problem: The Estate of Jackie Kennedy Onassis
1. The overall testamentary plan seems to be that Jackie Kennedy Onassis (testator) estate was
allocated proportionately to those people she deemed to be the closest to her. Thus, the further away
from Jackie via bloodline, the less the person inherited and the less personal the gifts seemed to be.
The majority of her real and personal property was left to her children, while friends and other
relatives received legacy gifts. Some of the gifts to her friends were very specific (as in question 3), so
it is likely that there was some sort of sentimental value between Jackie, the devisee, and the property
in question. Whole blooded relatives received a larger portion than her ... Show more content on

The modern Stage 3 rule, UPC § 2 603, saves devisees to three basic groups: grandparents,
descendants of grandparents, and stepchildren. This UPC Stage 3 rule does not apply to non relatives
whatsoever. Jackie Kennedy Onassis left gifts to Mellon, Tempelsman, and Forger, but she listed them
in her will as friends . Because they predeceased the testator and no alternative beneficiaries were
stated for their gifts, one must look to see if there is an applicable Stage 2 anti lapse statute. Under
both Stage 2 and Stage 3 majority rules, anti lapse statutes do not protect friends ; therefore the gifts
would fail. It is possible that First D could be construed as naming Jackie s children as alternate
beneficiaries if First A, B, C failed, so the testator s surviving children would take these gifts.
3. Jackie Kennedy Onassis left Maurice Tempelsman in FIRST B, a Greek alabaster head of a woman.
If at the time of her death she no longer owned this Greek alabaster head, would Mr. Tempelsman
receive a Roman alabaster head of a woman that was purchased by the testator after the making of the
will? Under the Stage 2(a) rule, where a testamentary gift of specific real or personal property no
longer exists as part of the Testator s estate at the moment of his death because of its prior
consumption, loss, destruction, substantial change, sale or other alienation subsequent to the execution

G-String Social Norms
What does an author hope to achieve by violating social norms in their stories? While some may
solely do it for the thrill of being edgy and outlandish, many use it as a path to normalize something
the author believes should no longer be ostracized in their society. This may come in the form of a
woman becoming independent from an oppressive man, a man escaping a loveless marriage that he
feels trapped in, or any other person escaping the societal chains which hold them back from their true
potential as an individual. No matter the case, progress towards a more joyful world cannot be made
through idleness. Change happens because people force change to happen, and the first step to that is
to create a catalyst for deliberation. The easily consumable nature of short stories makes them an
excellent tool for opening a dialogue about a social norm that an author finds off putting or harmful. In
the short story G String by Nicola Barker, the protagonist, Gillian, is portrayed as a woman in a
marriage in which her husband has spent years conditioning her to think very little of herself through
his derogatory comments and blatant disregard for her feelings. After putting up with insult after
insult, she finally stands up for herself and fixes a problem with her husband s car that he could not
solve by using her undergarment, a g string. The story is not truly about the g string, instead playing a
symbolistic role by signifying all that holds her back. The story is actually about

Archetypes On The Rainy Road
Every single person on planet Earth has a set of personal morals; whether as basic as the old standard
tell the truth to everyone , or a more controversial belief such as no sex before marriage
(yourdictionary). Morals, or a lack thereof, defines the character of individuals. As Tim, the
protagonist of On the Rainy Road by Tim O Brien discovers, personal morals are very difficult
concepts to adhere to when faced with challenging circumstances. Tim is a young man living in
Minnesota, and by his own admission, had the world dicked...summa cum laude... and a full ride
scholarship for grad studies at Harvard (O Brien). In an unfortunate turn of events, Tim is drafted to
fight in the Vietnam War, one that he is staunchly against. Tim tries to leave his home and go to
Canada due to his beliefs against the war, but eventually comes home to fight after a period of self
reflection. Through this figurative journey , the author uses the fundamental plot archetype of the
journey from innocence to experience to demonstrate how adversity exposes the inherent human flaws
in even the best people. Tim begins the story at his familiar environment in Minnesota. The archetypal
journey typically consists of five major steps, being; an innocent start in a familiar environment,
followed by a descent into danger and a battle with demons throughout which experience is gained,
ultimately ending in a return home (TVDSB). As Tim confesses, he had taken a modest stand against
the war , however he

Sparta Swot Analysis
Most societies that focus on one specific thing is pretty much setting themselves up to crumble to the
ground. One example is Sparta, Sparta lacked many many things to be a successful society, which is
why they only lasted 300 years. Sparta lacked education, they abused their children, and took them
away to harsh army training at such a young age. Sparta banned all foreign education from their city
state, and they only taught reading and writing for purely practical reasons, they also never let in any
foreign teachers into Sparta to teach. They abused their children too, every time a child was caught
stealing food, which they encouraged and said it was ok, they would whip them almost to the point of
death. The strengths in Sparta never even had a chance at outweighing the weaknesses for those
reasons. To start off, Spartans were never taught formal education, Sparta focused on their military
almost all the time, they were taught practical reading and writing, and were never allowed foreign
teachers and were never allowed to travel to other places. It says in Document D that all other forms
of education were banned from the country . They felt that if they allowed other people from other
areas into their country, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As it says in Document B, boys were whipped to the point of death when they were caught trying to
steal food. This is a weakness because it can kill innocent kids, the reason they are innocent is because
they are encouraged to steal, plus the people in the agoge starve them half to death! This is completely
wrong and kids starve because of the harsh conditions in the agoge system of Sparta, also there is a
competition every year called The Flagellation . The Flagellation was extremely stupid because kids
were whipped and beaten senseless, while their families told them that if they died or passed out that
they weren t proud of them! Both of these reasons play a huge part in why Sparta fell to the

The Musical Theatre Of America
Musical Theatre in America
Before the 20th century, people used music and dancing to tell stories, but it had nothing to do with
developing musical theater. Musical theatre is a type of play that tells a story through songs, spoken
dialogue, and dancing. During the 20th century, there was a lot of change going on in Musical Theatre.
Musicals are different from other types of stage works such as opera because a musical would not be a
musical without the music, story line, or dancing. European operetta was becoming more popular than
American Musical Theatre. The two main types of opera that were being made were called ballad
operas and comic operas which had romantic plots. American composers sought to come up with
something new, since Musical Theatre was not very popular with the general public. There were a lot
of components that helped shape musical theatre in America , but most think that it was mainly
developed because of the different tastes developing, likeable styles, spirit and energy by composers in
America, it was not. Although musical theaters origins are not certain, Musical theatre gradually
developed using influences of ballad opera, comic opera, operetta, vaudeville, and burlesque.
Musical theatre had not been called musicals , although there were previous stage entertainments.
Before the 20th century there was a reported first musical written entitled The Disappointment was a
ballad opera that was taken from rehearsal because it contained

The Need For Security As A Integrated Unified...
Security
As with many great idea there within lies caveats. The need for security is crucial. After all, any
breach can cause serious harm to the business and its employees. In order to secure such a complex
Unified Communications (UC), one must understand the vulnerabilities to be had. Within this research
project, the security concerns shall be addressed prior in order to learn the possibilities to be had in
developing an IC that could regurgitate its own information through data mining to continuously
achieve higher levels of workplace efficiency. Thereby creating the SMARTbusiness model.
The Need for Commonality and Uniform Structure
With the continued rise of the Internet of Things (IoT), so does the continued rise of urgency on part
of most product manufacturers and service providers to produce a device that can not only
communicate information regarding its current condition, but also communicate the condition of what
is around the device. The fast pace of IoT development has produced a perplexing variety of device
configurations, each with their own attributes, data structures, and particularities. In addition,
companies are deploying variations of devices, each designed to meet specific purposes. As a result,
the ability to manage IoT devices is rapidly diminishing.
Configuration Management
Another concern regards is configuration management. In time, some common standards will become
a part of the design for IoT devices. However, when these standards mature and

Julius Caesar And Brutus Tragic Hero Analysis
A tragic hero tries to do the right thing but has flaws in their character that prevents them from being a
true hero. Scholars argue over whether Brutus or Caesar is the tragic hero in the play Julius Caesar by
William Shakespeare. Both men have tragic flaws which cause their downfall. They are both
ambitious. Caesar wanted all the power to himself. On the contrary, Brutus wanted what was best for
Rome and to keep a good reputation. Brutus is the tragic hero of the play since he falls the farthest due
to the fact that he is too trusting of everyone, he naively allows his enemy to speak out about him, and
he lacks self confidence. To begin with, Brutus is too trusting of those around him. Brutus s friend
Cassius recognizes that Brutus is driven by what is best for Rome. Because of this Cassius devises a
plan to plant a fake petition from the people of Rome stating that Caesar needs to be executed. Brutus
never even questions that the petition is real. After reading the petition Brutus response is:
Am I entreated
To speak and strike? O Rome, I make thee promise,
If the redress will follow, thou receivest
Thy full petition at the hand of Brutus! (Shakespeare 2.1.55 58)
Brutus agrees to do whatever it takes to help Rome receive justice, even if it means to use violence
against his friend. Lastly, due to Brutus killing Caesar, war broke out in Rome. Brutus is creating more
chaos for Rome than Caesar is. He is naive and thinks he is doing what is best for Rome, but really
ends up hurting Rome. A true hero would have been sceptical about the petition before making
decisions about it. Since Brutus is too trusting he did not think twice about the petition which
ultimately, leads to his downfall. Another example of Brutus as the tragic hero is his naivety. He
foolishly allows his enemy to speak at Caesar s funeral. After Caesar s death the funeral is planned for
all of Rome to attend. Brutus allows Mark Antony, Caesar s right hand man, to speak at the funeral.
This allows Mark Antony to turn the crowd against Brutus. Mark Antony makes Brutus look like the
bad guy by saying: If Brutus so unkindly knocked, or no. For Brutus, as you know, was Caesar s
angel. Judge, O you gods, how dearly Caesar loved him! This was

Essay about Rent Control
Rent Control in New York: An Economic Analysis
Rent control refers to laws that limit the amounts of rent and the amounts that rent can be increased in
any year. There is no statewide rent control in the US, and all the rent control laws and regulation are
passed by cities. Most of the cities with rent control are located in New York, California, and New
Jersey. Washington, D.C. also has rent control.
Rent control first appeared in the United States in the early 1900s as a way of dealing with exorbitant
rent prices brought about by wartime housing emergencies and tight housing markets. During this
time, rent control was handled by the federal government. In the late 1940 s, the federal rent control
system was gradually scaled back ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In places with a rent control board or agency, the tenant usually doesn t have to take that risk. The
tenant can report the violation to the board or agency and ask for permission to withhold rent. In some
cities, if the condition of a rental property is very bad, the board or agency can take over, collect the
rents, and make repairs.
Because rent control sometimes ends or the rent can be raised when a tenant is evicted, landlords may
abuse the right to evict tenants. Most cities that have rent control laws limit the reasons for an
eviction. A landlord can t give the tenant a 30 day or 60 day notice that the tenant must leave. The
landlord must have a good reason for the eviction such as nonpayment of rent, breach of the rental
agreement like pets that aren t allowed, or illegal activity.
The broad powers of rent control boards and agencies mean that many more issues and disputes about
landlord tenant issues are resolved in informal hearings instead of in courts during eviction
proceedings. Some cities provide mediation services as well, to help landlords and tenants work out
their differences.
Rent control laws were popular in the 1970s into the 1980s, but organized landlord opposition to the
laws caused some of them to be repealed or weakened after the late 1980s. In the places where rent
control still exists, it has usually been affected by two kinds of decontrol. The first is called

Women Roles In The Progressive Era
Women s Active Role Throughout the Gilded Age and Progressive Era, gender roles began to change
as women became active participants in American society. For instance, women became active in
expressing their views against alcohol and pushed for the prohibition and temperance. Organizations
such as The Women s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU), argued that alcohol led to societal
problems. Male and female reformers banned together to argue that alcohol was immoral and causing
a negative impact on women. Women, if married, would experience an abusive, violent drunk husband
who neglected his family and gambled his money away. Thus, the evils of alcohol became part of the
progressive agenda that eventually led to the passage of the 18th amendment. Along with prohibition,
women also took active roles in acquiring suffrage. In The Politics of Good Government, Gayle
Gullett argued that in the California Women s Movement built a nonpartisan broad suffrage umbrella
that sought to enhance their special interests. Middle class women assured their male allies that
women s enfranchisement was essential to progressivism. Furthermore, middle and working class
women argued that suffrage would not only protect working women but women in general. Working
class men and women also united to seek reform. Thus, through these heterogeneous groups, the
California Women s Movement built a unified coalition that led to women s suffrage in 1911. [46] As

How Did The Cold War Affect The Cold War
The Cold War was one of the most crucial events in shaping Canada during the twentieth century.
Lasting from the latter half of the 1940s to the 1990s, the effects of the Cold War on Canadian society
and politics were far ranging and long lasting. Throughout these years, many social changes were
implemented, dramatically shaping modern Canada. The most important social changes, however,
took place during the 1960s. This was a decade of turbulent and significant social change. During
these years, homosexual acts were legalized, Quebec experienced a period of immense revolution, and
second wave feminism was established. In the modern era, Canada is often praised for its inclusivity
and acceptance. However, the country has not always been this way. In the late 1950s to early 1960s,
Canada faced a period of extreme homophobia: the Gay Purge. This was one of the longest and the
most harmful campaigns of discrimination conducted by the federal government against the LGBT
community . The motive of this campaign was to identify and purge LGBT Federal Public Servants on
the basis of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression in the Federal Public Service
and military. The idea of this purge did not originate in Canada, rather it was adopted from the United
States. However, the RCMP did adopt the crusade against homosexuality with alacrity, so much so
that the mounties became the activists on this case . Ostensibly, homosexuality was a security risk

Bacteria Transformation in Biotechnology Essay
Abstract Some bacteria are able to go through transformation making new combinations of genes.
Transformation is a way of gene variability in bacteria. This experiment is based on the transformation
mechanism of bacteria and gene regulation. The bacteria used for the experiment was Escherichia coli
and the genes introduces for the transformation were: gfp and bla by a pGLO™ plasmid. After the
insertion of the target genes and growing the bacteria on specialized LB media, it could be seen that
the transformants were positive for the gene expression. The transformed E. coli on the media
appeared fluorescent green under UV light.

Fast Food Public Relation Blunders
Introduction
Fast Food can be defined as quickly made food that is sold in restaurants as a quick meal or to be
taken out. The first fast food restaurants came around the 1920 s and have since then, blown up to be
its own part of American Culture. Chances are, if you live in the United States there is a fast food
restaurant within a mile of your house. As the century progressed these fast food restaurants expanded
to countless countries across the world becoming a big part of peoples everyday lives. Since there are
countless fast food franchises selling generally the same products, the market is extremely
competitive. Fast Food franchises participate in aggressive marketing and are always trying to stay in
the good graces of the public eye. One slip up and chances are they are going to lose a vast amount of
business. As much as they try though there is no possible way they would be able to anticipate some
of the public relations blunders that occur especially in an age where there are eyes everywhere in the
form of cameras and social media. One of the biggest public relations disasters in recent memory
involved the fast food pizza delivery franchise Domino s and another more recently involving
Starbucks.

Television Coverage And Alternative Media Coverage
The difference in mass media coverage and alternative media coverage is that mass media focuses
more on a broader relationship between the Call of Duty franchise and the USDoD; however,
alternative media goes more in depth to the subject. When accessing mass media sources, their content
often filled with positive takes of the subject because they are usually funded by the company. For
instance, game developers would not want bad reviews of their content out on mass media sources like
CNN because it reduces the profit. Also it appeals to most retailers, such as Gamestop, Wal Mart, or
Target. On the other hand, alternative media gives a more closely look of the contents of the game.
The Call of Duty franchise in this case, Advanced Warfare and the USDoD have been working with
each other in making the FPS game. The technology applied in the game are currently ideas from the
USDoD. For example, the weapons, the exoskeleton, and the style. They are ideas from DARPA as
well. There are many different technologies presented in Advance Warfare. For instance, the use of the
Tac 19, which blast energy instead of slug or buckshot. These type of technology is influence by the
USDoD or DARPA because without their collaborations of such weapons, Advance Warfare may
result to using weapons available today. For example, assault rifles like the M 19 or Scar H. Noam

Raising Hope Analysis
Raising Hope aired in 2010 receiving 3.1 million views, opening with a chance encounter with a
wanted felon that leads to the conception of a child later named Hope. As it turns out Hope was a very
fitting name as that is it exactly what it seems to give the quirky family. It developed a loyal fan base
as people fell in love with the Chances and people of Natesville. Raising Hope made a good TV
comedy because of its talented cast, realistic family, and edgy humor.
One of the things that make Raising Hope such a good TV comedy is its talented cast. Without a
talented cast any TV comedy will fall short in being able to properly deliver its humor to their
audience. The most notable cast member is the Oscar and Emmy winning actress Cloris Leachman,
starring as Maw Maw. She received an Emmy nomination for the role. Another notable cast member is
Marth Plimpton who solidified her career by starring in the The Goonies as a child. Plimpton received
two Emmy nominations for her role as Virginia Chance.
Though Garret Dillahunt, starring as Burt Chance, lacked the recognition before Hope he also
received high praise for his roles and was nominated for a Critics Choice award. While other cast
members may not have the awards or nominations, they do not lack in talent. Hope s casting director
won the 2011 Outstanding Achievement In Casting award from the Casting Society of America.
In addition, Hope s realistic representation of a modern family aids in making it a good TV

Mary Wollstonecraft Her Legacy Essay examples
Mary Wollstonecraft Her Legacy
Following the Enlightenment, Mary Wollstonecraft wrote the feminist novel The Vindication of the
Rights of Woman. In this novel she applied rights to females that had formerly been reserved to males,
such as unalienable rights. Her novel impacted different areas of society. Wollstonecraft called for the
advancement of women s rights in areas such as education, work, and politics. She also proposes that
women are just as capable as men and have a far greater purpose than simply to be pleasing to men.
Her novel became a bestseller in the summer of 1792.1 After reading her novel, many women applied
her views to their lives to the greatest extent possible in the time period in which they lived. Mary ...

recurring nightmares, fits of hysteria, hallucinations and even caused her to sleepwalk. However, it
was because of this rigorous studying that Mary contributed to the women s movement, mainly
through her novel, The Vindication of the Rights of Woman.4
Margaret Fuller s novel, Woman in the Nineteenth Century, employed many similar concepts as Mary
Wollstonecraft, but took a slightly different direction. In her novel she writes that everyone under God
has certain rights and these rights apply to man as well as woman. She illustrates that human society
consists of two components that must work together if harmony is to be reached: the feminine side and
the masculine side. For this reason, Fuller insists that women stop playing the subservient role in
society, and overcome the role of dependence on man. Similar to Wollstonecraft, she feels that if
women advance in society, following their wishes and desires, society as a whole will become better.
She explains the inequality and unrest within her contemporary society. Despite advancements for
both genders, women remain behind due to

What Was The Impact Of Radio Broadcasting In The 1930 s
Radio broadcasting left a major social impact on Americans. It delivered news, advertising, and
entertainment to the American household. The radio allowed Americans from across the United States
to be up to date on the latest political news, sports, and radio shows. Companies used the radio to
spread their product to the American living room. The radio left the greatest impact on society for the
variety of content it contained and how popular it was. In 1913, Edwin Armstrong invented a special
circuit that made long range radio transmission of voice and music practical (American). This
technological advancement made it convenient to use the radio as means of delivering the news.
Whether you lived in a rural countryside or in a packed city, you were able to get the news. Able to
broadcast weather reports, sports news, and entertainment to thousands of Americans, the radio proved

Essay on Moliere s Tartuffe
The Theme of Moliere s Tartuffe: Reason vs. Passion
Jean Baptitste Poquelin Moliere s Tartuffe, is undoubtedly a satirical comedy. In Moliere s description
of a satire, he was very direct as to the function and objectives of one are. The function is to correct
men s vices, using satire to ridicule them and expose them to public laughter (Moliere, p.14).
Although this satire is making fun of many things in the church and organized religion, which is not
the only objective Moliere had in mind. Tartuffe has many themes that reoccur through out the play.
The time period, in which this play was written, was known as the Age of Reason. One of the main
ideas and attitudes during this time was, reason must always control passion. Due to this ... Show

Cleante is another character that could be considered a raisoneur during the play. There is numerous
times where he interjects reason into a situation. Ought not a Christian to forgive, and ought he not to
stifle every vengeful thought? Should you stand by and watch a father make his only son an exile for
you sake? Again I tell you frankly, be advised: the whole town, high and low, is scandalized; this
quarrel must be mended, and my advice is not to push matter to a further crisis (4. 1. 9 16). In this
scene, Cleante is trying to talk reason into Tartuffe s actions. Orgon has just kicked out his son, and
made Tartuffe his sole heir. Although Orgon has acted out on his passion without considering any
reason, Cleante is attempting to show Tartuffe his wrong doings and his hypocrisy. Up to this point,
Tartuffe has been a very reasonable man. His character was not known for acting out his passions. But
Moliere adds a twist to the story when this exact thing, Tartuffe s passion, is the sole explanation for
his downfall. Slowly his passion for Elmire and greed infest his way of thinking and leads to his
defeat. He let his passions control his reason.
Again in Act V, Scene 2, Cleante comes to the rescue of young Damis. What a display of young
hotheadedness! Do learn to moderate your fits of rage. In this just kingdom, this enlightened age; one
does not settle things by violence (5. 2. 10 13). Damis had just learned that Tartuffe had wronged his

Pros And Cons Of Slum Tourism
When most people think about tourism they think about pleasure, leisure, historic buildings, and
exciting new scenery. What people fail to realize is tourism takes place in the home country of other
people. When most people plan their vacation to a new country they primarily think about the
adventure and experiences they are about to have exploring a new area, but when these areas are
inhabited it can be problematic for the people who live there. While there are various reasons slum
tourism is an exploitative practice, the primary reasons are it invades a community for personal gain, it
alters the image of the culture and community that is visited, and globalization can occur altering the
authentic culture.
Slum tourism is defined as tourism that involves visiting impoverished areas. When people tour these
poverty stricken areas, they invade the community with no regard for its citizens. Not only do tourists
invade a community, they damage the reputation of a country by publicizing the slums and glorifying
poverty stricken areas to make them appear like exotic tourist destinations. This is discussed in a blog
called The Pros and Cons of Slum Tourism: Crass Voyeurism or Enlightened Travel? which states that
The tours make poverty exotic, otherworldly, almost glamorizing what to inhabitants is a harsh reality
which will remain once the tourists are long gone. This is important because people think there is no

Biltmore Estate Research Paper
The Biltmore estate, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina near Ashville, is the site
of George Vanderbilt s country retreat. The estate, being the largest private residence in America, is a
testament to Mr. Vanderbilt s wealth and his vision of a luxurious, sophisticated home. The Biltmore
estate served as a home, a profitable business, and a place for entertainment. The Vanderbilt s were a
large family who descended from Jon Aersten van der Bilt, an immigrant from Holland to America in
1650. As well being one of the oldest families in America, the Vanderbilts were also one of the
wealthiest. They obtained their wealth originally through a steamboat company that traveled as far
New York to Central America and Europe. Their second source of fortune came from large
investments in railroads, which were just emerging at the time in 1873. The family was also known for
their generosity and involvement in philanthropy. Their most notable donations were their donations to
the creation of Vanderbilt University, the funding of the Metropolitan Opera, and endowing the

The Code Of Ethics And Systematic Ethics
Abstract. The article reviewed was The Impact of Ethical Tools on Aggressiveness in Financial
Reporting. The key of the abstract is to demonstrate the differences in financial reporting between the
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and U.S. Standards (p.477). More in depth the
research focuses on the code of ethics and moral duties of company top management.
Introduction. The authors study the financial scandals and the recent financial crisis to demonstrate the
gap between market processes and accounting standards. The IFRS and U.S. GAAP differ in contrary
nature of accounting standards. GAAP is considered as rule based standards, while IFRS viewed as a
principle based. Therefore, the professional judgment on financial improprieties is highly important
(p. 479). The main objective of the research is to specify the impact of ethical setting on judgment and
decisions of accountants. The code of ethics and systematic ethics trainings can diminish the
inconsistencies from accounting policies. The study is important due its analysis of mechanisms and
alternatives of decision making, and the influence of code of ethics on chief officers strategic choices
(pp. 484 485). The authors focuses on the problem: how accounting standards contribute to the
professional judgment, company financial performance, and earning management. The authors discuss

This research paper is intended to explain in general terms some of the political, economics and social
effects America dealt with during the Pre and Post Reconstruction Period.
During the last years of the Civil War, as Union forces moved closer to victory and millions of former
slaves became free, Americans began to think about how to reconcile the splintered parts of the nation
and were immediately faced with a series of complex questions that required some resolutions. Some

These measures represented a substantial departure from the system of the old South; yet few
reforming politicians were not able to go as far and to have as much effect as they intended. In
addition, white Southern Republicans, who outnumbered their black colleagues, gave only window
dressing like support to black civil rights, preferring to court Southern Democrats through moderation
on racial issues (Forner 364 411). Although, the Radical Reconstruction efforts were intended to
redirect the southern economy, to provide for social mobility and to halt the return to the old
plantation system. Ultimately, however, these policies intensified the South s dependence on cotton as
a cash crop and solidified the class divisions in southern society. Condemning Andrew Johnson and
early presidential Reconstruction, Radical Republicans hoped to reshape the South into a land of
industry and diversified agriculture. To these ends, Republicans poured massive amounts of money
into the South to build railways, create infrastructure and develop improved cultivation methods.
Ironically, these improvements bolstered the strength of the plantation system and swelled the ranks of
the economically exploited lower classes. Railways allowed for the extension of cotton plantations
into the upcountry and further west, onto lands occupied by subsistence farmers. Furthermore, new
technology and the increasing efficiency

It was dubbed The Manhattan Project and consisted of some of the most brilliant physicists at the time
such as Albert Einstein. Then, in 1945 arguably the most powerful and controversial technology was
developed. This was the nuclear bomb and it completely changed the world forever. This weapon
could be used to decimate entire cities and the only time it was ever used during any conflict was in

The government played a large role in funding the development of the many cutting edge technologies
during this time period. This was a time period where government introduced never before seen laws

was the New Deal signed by President Theodore Roosevelt. The New Deal tried to provide relief from

Identity And Personal Identity
Lately my mornings are spent getting up between 5:30am and 6am. I get myself ready, I never look
fantastic just passable, and I go to work. Part of my morning routine is getting my dog, Donovan,
ready for the early part of his day as well. We go to the yard for his bathroom routine, we go inside
where I feed him his diet dog food and inject him with insulin, we go upstairs where I place a new
diaper wrap around his mid section (dogs with diabetes leak, who knew?), and he goes back to bed to
sleep beside my husband. After we say our goodbyes I head to work, or school, or whatever adventure
life has for me that particular day. Rinse, wash, repeat. I had no idea when I was in my teenage years
that my life at 32 years old would be a tattooed, married, full time working, full time schooling,
boring, Puerto Rican, animal lover. Well, the animal loving part I knew since I was maybe 2. I have
many a self concept, the set stable ideas a person has about who he or she is (Floyd 71), some are
obvious and some are not so obvious. When people meet me, they see the identities that are skin deep,
they see the parts of my identity that are more objective, they re based on fact instead of someone s
opinion (Floyd 74). I have tan skin and wavy, frizzy hair so immediately people want to speak to me
in Spanish. While dissecting myself I don t immediately connect with I m a proud Puerto Rican
woman. Although I am incredibly proud of my heritage I am not so engrained in the culture of being

Who s Cookin As A Catering Business
1.0 Introduction
Who s Cookin is a catering business that launched in 1975 that serves customers with great food and
service for their event needs. Operating in 5 different locations in South East Brisbane, the business is
looking to expand to 10 different locations across other cities in the near future. Who s Cookin has
however been gradually declining over the past few years as the business is obsolete when it comes to
customers wanting efficient and time saving solutions when ordering for catering services. The
business have manual cashiers that take a lot of time to use for cashiers, and have no reliable resources
to store data of orders when filing. In order for the business to improve and update, a bank loan of
$100,000 has been applied from Who s Cookin to transform the business with 21st century technology
to potentially own the latest Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Information
Systems (IS), and Computer Based Information Systems (CBIS). This enhancement will allow Who s
Cookin to have digitalized cash registers, computer devices for storing important business data, fund
local TV advertisements, and even sustain funding a website and phone application for customers to
order online. The business will run more time efficiently if the company technology was improved. It
would also increase productivity and improve customer satisfaction overall.

Symbols In Esperanza Rising By Pam Muñoz Ryan
Esperanza Ortega of El Rancho de las Rosas is a young Hispanic girl that must overcome strenuous
obstacles in order to help her family. The novel Esperanza Rising by Pam Muñoz Ryan has many
symbols that contribute to the theme, but one of the major motifs present is the process of crocheting
the quilt. This symbol lasts throughout the entire book, but the message only gets stronger for this
symbol goes hand in hand with the storyline. Esperanza is an only child in her family, and during this
time it was not acceptable for women to own land. When Esperanza s papa gets killed there were no
other men in the family, so the land that Esperanza had grown up on and loved would soon all be
taken away. Unless her mama sacrificers herself and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The crochet technique of making mountains and valleys applies greatly to everything that Esperanza
goes through on her migration to California. This symbol is both in a literal and a figurative sense.
Esperanza literally starts at the top in Mexico. She lives on acres of land in a beautiful vineyard, she
has servants, and is well educated. But when trouble arrives, Esperanza must go to the bottom of the
valley in California. Here she has nothing; she lives in a small house in an immigrant farm, she works
hard every day, and she does not know any English. Life as she knew it had completely changed.
Migrating to a new place that is unknown, everyone is new, and the language is not known is a
grueling change and as a young child this must have been very difficult for Esperanza to handle. In
Esperanza s eyes every step she takes just brings her lower and lower into the valley. Nothing seems to
be going right, it is almost as if the figurative mountain Esperanza must climb keeps growing taller. In
Esperanza s eyes she was taken from her perfect world and placed into a world where she could no
longer feel the heart beat of the earth (Muñoz Ryan 92). This was detrimental to her, for she had no
idea what to do next; she had given up. Esperanza finally began to understand her new life, but as
soon as mama became ill, Esperanza s world shattered all around her again. She no longer had papa,
abuelita, or mama by her side. She was all alone and it was up to her to climb up the

It is used every day, in almost every part of the medical field. Electronic medical records, digital imaging, e mails, and fax are all used daily. Health information exchange has moved forward the health care field and helped medical professionals give their patients faster, more efficient and safer care day to day. In this paper, you will read about the history of the health information exchange, the benefits, the privacy and security concerns, and the current challenges faced by the workers in the health information field. History of HIE According to HRSA (2015), Health information exchange (HIE) is the electronic movement of health related ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While many people believe that health information exchange is a relatively new thing, it has been around for over four decades. However, in the beginning phases it was nowhere near as complex as it is now. Sometime in the middle of the 60 s, an early form of a data processing system was formed and it focuses on clinical data management. This system began to catch on even though they were nowhere near as sophisticated and or functional as the health records in today s time. In 1972, at the Regenstrief Institute the first medical record system was created as a modular system to provide service functions for clinics, laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy ( Structure, Functions, and Activities of a Research Support Informatics Section, 2003). This was a pilot project in a diabetes clinic and not something they thought would change the face of health information forever. However, when it was first made it was not attractive to many doctors due to the high cost but was used mostly by government hospitals since they had the funds to use them. To this day, the most comprehensive medical records system could be found in the Regenstrief Medical Records System based in Indianapolis. This records system is mostly in thanks to Clement McDonald, who is the director of the Regenstrief Institute. • 6. Wills Law Essay Wills Problem: The Estate of Jackie Kennedy Onassis 1. The overall testamentary plan seems to be that Jackie Kennedy Onassis (testator) estate was allocated proportionately to those people she deemed to be the closest to her. Thus, the further away from Jackie via bloodline, the less the person inherited and the less personal the gifts seemed to be. The majority of her real and personal property was left to her children, while friends and other relatives received legacy gifts. Some of the gifts to her friends were very specific (as in question 3), so it is likely that there was some sort of sentimental value between Jackie, the devisee, and the property in question. This UPC Stage 3 rule does not apply to non relatives whatsoever. Jackie Kennedy Onassis left gifts to Mellon, Tempelsman, and Forger, but she listed them in her will as friends . Because they predeceased the testator and no alternative beneficiaries were stated for their gifts, one must look to see if there is an applicable Stage 2 anti lapse statute. Under both Stage 2 and Stage 3 majority rules, anti lapse statutes do not protect friends ; therefore the gifts would fail. It is possible that First D could be construed as naming Jackie s children as alternate beneficiaries if First A, B, C failed, so the testator s surviving children would take these gifts. 3. • 7. G-String Social Norms What does an author hope to achieve by violating social norms in their stories? While some may solely do it for the thrill of being edgy and outlandish, many use it as a path to normalize something the author believes should no longer be ostracized in their society. This may come in the form of a woman becoming independent from an oppressive man, a man escaping a loveless marriage that he feels trapped in, or any other person escaping the societal chains which hold them back from their true potential as an individual. No matter the case, progress towards a more joyful world cannot be made through idleness. Change happens because people force change to happen, and the first step to that is to create a catalyst for deliberation. The easily consumable nature of short stories makes them an excellent tool for opening a dialogue about a social norm that an author finds off putting or harmful. In the short story G String by Nicola Barker, the protagonist, Gillian, is portrayed as a woman in a marriage in which her husband has spent years conditioning her to think very little of herself through his derogatory comments and blatant disregard for her feelings. After putting up with insult after insult, she finally stands up for herself and fixes a problem with her husband s car that he could not solve by using her undergarment, a g string. Sparta banned all foreign education from their city state, and they only taught reading and writing for purely practical reasons, they also never let in any foreign teachers into Sparta to teach. They abused their children too, every time a child was caught stealing food, which they encouraged and said it was ok, they would whip them almost to the point of death. The strengths in Sparta never even had a chance at outweighing the weaknesses for those reasons. To start off, Spartans were never taught formal education, Sparta focused on their military almost all the time, they were taught practical reading and writing, and were never allowed foreign teachers and were never allowed to travel to other places. Musical theatre is a type of play that tells a story through songs, spoken dialogue, and dancing. During the 20th century, there was a lot of change going on in Musical Theatre. Musicals are different from other types of stage works such as opera because a musical would not be a musical without the music, story line, or dancing. European operetta was becoming more popular than American Musical Theatre. The two main types of opera that were being made were called ballad operas and comic operas which had romantic plots. American composers sought to come up with something new, since Musical Theatre was not very popular with the general public. There were a lot of components that helped shape musical theatre in America , but most think that it was mainly developed because of the different tastes developing, likeable styles, spirit and energy by composers in America, it was not. • 13. Julius Caesar And Brutus Tragic Hero Analysis A tragic hero tries to do the right thing but has flaws in their character that prevents them from being a true hero. Scholars argue over whether Brutus or Caesar is the tragic hero in the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare. Both men have tragic flaws which cause their downfall. They are both ambitious. Caesar wanted all the power to himself. On the contrary, Brutus wanted what was best for Rome and to keep a good reputation. Brutus is the tragic hero of the play since he falls the farthest due to the fact that he is too trusting of everyone, he naively allows his enemy to speak out about him, and he lacks self confidence. To begin with, Brutus is too trusting of those around him. Brutus s friend Cassius recognizes that Brutus is driven by what is best for Rome. Because of this Cassius devises a plan to plant a fake petition from the people of Rome stating that Caesar needs to be executed. Brutus never even questions that the petition is real. After reading the petition Brutus response is: Am I entreated To speak and strike? O Rome, I make thee promise, If the redress will follow, thou receivest Thy full petition at the hand of Brutus! (Shakespeare 2.1.55 58) Brutus agrees to do whatever it takes to help Rome receive justice, even if it means to use violence against his friend. Lastly, due to Brutus killing Caesar, war broke out in Rome. Brutus is creating more chaos for Rome than Caesar is. He is naive and thinks he is doing what is best for Rome, but really ends up hurting Rome. A true hero would have been sceptical about the petition before making decisions about it. Since Brutus is too trusting he did not think twice about the petition which ultimately, leads to his downfall. Another example of Brutus as the tragic hero is his naivety. He foolishly allows his enemy to speak at Caesar s funeral. After Caesar s death the funeral is planned for all of Rome to attend. Brutus allows Mark Antony, Caesar s right hand man, to speak at the funeral. This allows Mark Antony to turn the crowd against Brutus. There is no statewide rent control in the US, and all the rent control laws and regulation are passed by cities. Most of the cities with rent control are located in New York, California, and New Jersey. Washington, D.C. also has rent control. Rent control first appeared in the United States in the early 1900s as a way of dealing with exorbitant rent prices brought about by wartime housing emergencies and tight housing markets. In places with a rent control board or agency, the tenant usually doesn t have to take that risk. The tenant can report the violation to the board or agency and ask for permission to withhold rent. In some cities, if the condition of a rental property is very bad, the board or agency can take over, collect the rents, and make repairs. Because rent control sometimes ends or the rent can be raised when a tenant is evicted, landlords may abuse the right to evict tenants. Most cities that have rent control laws limit the reasons for an eviction. A landlord can t give the tenant a 30 day or 60 day notice that the tenant must leave. The landlord must have a good reason for the eviction such as nonpayment of rent, breach of the rental agreement like pets that aren t allowed, or illegal activity. The broad powers of rent control boards and agencies mean that many more issues and disputes about landlord tenant issues are resolved in informal hearings instead of in courts during eviction proceedings. Some cities provide mediation services as well, to help landlords and tenants work out their differences. Rent control laws were popular in the 1970s into the 1980s, but organized landlord opposition to the laws caused some of them to be repealed or weakened after the late 1980s. • 16. Women Roles In The Progressive Era Women s Active Role Throughout the Gilded Age and Progressive Era, gender roles began to change as women became active participants in American society. For instance, women became active in expressing their views against alcohol and pushed for the prohibition and temperance. Organizations such as The Women s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU), argued that alcohol led to societal problems. Male and female reformers banned together to argue that alcohol was immoral and causing a negative impact on women. Women, if married, would experience an abusive, violent drunk husband who neglected his family and gambled his money away. Thus, the evils of alcohol became part of the progressive agenda that eventually led to the passage of the 18th amendment. Along with prohibition, women also took active roles in acquiring suffrage. In The Politics of Good Government, Gayle Gullett argued that in the California Women s Movement built a nonpartisan broad suffrage umbrella that sought to enhance their special interests. Middle class women assured their male allies that women s enfranchisement was essential to progressivism. Furthermore, middle and working class women argued that suffrage would not only protect working women but women in general. Working class men and women also united to seek reform. Thus, through these heterogeneous groups, the California Women s Movement built a unified coalition that led to women s suffrage in 1911. [46] As America entered the First Great War, the ... Lasting from the latter half of the 1940s to the 1990s, the effects of the Cold War on Canadian society and politics were far ranging and long lasting. Throughout these years, many social changes were implemented, dramatically shaping modern Canada. The most important social changes, however, took place during the 1960s. As it turns out Hope was a very fitting name as that is it exactly what it seems to give the quirky family. It developed a loyal fan base as people fell in love with the Chances and people of Natesville. Raising Hope made a good TV comedy because of its talented cast, realistic family, and edgy humor. One of the things that make Raising Hope such a good TV comedy is its talented cast. Without a talented cast any TV comedy will fall short in being able to properly deliver its humor to their audience. The most notable cast member is the Oscar and Emmy winning actress Cloris Leachman, starring as Maw Maw. She received an Emmy nomination for the role. Another notable cast member is Marth Plimpton who solidified her career by starring in the The Goonies as a child. Plimpton received two Emmy nominations for her role as Virginia Chance. Though Garret Dillahunt, starring as Burt Chance, lacked the recognition before Hope he also received high praise for his roles and was nominated for a Critics Choice award. While other cast members may not have the awards or nominations, they do not lack in talent. However, it was because of this rigorous studying that Mary contributed to the women s movement, mainly through her novel, The Vindication of the Rights of Woman.4 Margaret Fuller s novel, Woman in the Nineteenth Century, employed many similar concepts as Mary Wollstonecraft, but took a slightly different direction. In her novel she writes that everyone under God has certain rights and these rights apply to man as well as woman. She illustrates that human society consists of two components that must work together if harmony is to be reached: the feminine side and the masculine side. For this reason, Fuller insists that women stop playing the subservient role in society, and overcome the role of dependence on man. Similar to Wollstonecraft, she feels that if women advance in society, following their wishes and desires, society as a whole will become better. Again I tell you frankly, be advised: the whole town, high and low, is scandalized; this quarrel must be mended, and my advice is not to push matter to a further crisis (4. 1. 9 16). In this scene, Cleante is trying to talk reason into Tartuffe s actions. Orgon has just kicked out his son, and made Tartuffe his sole heir. Up to this point, Tartuffe has been a very reasonable man. His character was not known for acting out his passions. But Moliere adds a twist to the story when this exact thing, Tartuffe s passion, is the sole explanation for his downfall. Slowly his passion for Elmire and greed infest his way of thinking and leads to his defeat. He let his passions control his reason.
