His fields and education
Skinner was a prolific author; he had more than 200 articles and 20 books related to psychology, so he
was a psychologist and a writer. His first encounters with behavioral science was after attending
Hamilton College, where he decided to become a writer, he loved what he did and was impressed by
it. At Hamilton College he felt that he didn t fit in with others, he didn t party or hang out with other
students. However he graduated in 1926 with his BA in English. Skinner worked in writing
newspapers and articles, but didn t feel that he was such a success in what he was doing.
He resigned and decided to pursue a different direction in his life. He went back to studying but this
time in Harvard University to study Psychology, he got his masters and doctorate and stayed there to
do researches and finally he graduated in 1936.
Because he chose the psychology field he had many theories and experiments that changed our world
today and introduced new systems that were revolutionary to the world of psychology and how we
study people.

Essay About A Team
LazerTag I was cleaning my room while watching youtube on my iphone. When i hear a little voice
through my earphones. So i go downstairs and i say what? Then my mom tells me that we are doing
laser Tag with my family in my backyard. Then i ask my mom what are the teams? because there are
four different teams and i m playing with eight people. My mom says You go with Christa, Layla with
me, Paige with Matilda, Trey with dad. Since it s night time it is more futuristic, so me me and my
sister Christa were scheming and we both ran up to our rooms and we changed into black cloths. I got
on my PrestonPlayz Fire hoodie that is almost all black, i got my long black soccer pants, and i got a
black hat to wear. So my sister and i went back ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So i told Christa to ¨stay behind the tree and hide, and i will go attack people. I ran down the hill
shooting blindly. As soon as i got down to the grassy area it was me Paige and my Dad. I shoot at my
dad because he is the biggest threat, and i have to keep dodging the shots Paige and my Dad are
shooting at me. Then i take out Paige and i was getting very confident but then i look at my dads gun
and he still has three lives left. So i take a few shots then take a quick reload and keep on shooting.
My dad gets to cover behind a chair. Then he takes three shots and he hits me one time and i said¨wow
lucky shot¨ and i shoot back a bit. Everybody out is cheering. Then my dad takes a few shots and
¨boom¨ I was shot again Then i to the base where everybody is waiting when they get out and i sit
down. Then i gave my sister a hand signal to show her that it´s just her and my dad. Then she slowly
creeps down the hill shooting my dad. Once she gets the the bottom of the hill and she jumps onto the
grass she is shooting like crazy. But my dad got the first show on her, and when you get shot you have
to wait three seconds until you can shoot again, so my dad had the advantage. Then in a flash Christa
was out. Then Trey runs to the grass yelling because he won.
I had so much fun with my family playing Lazer tag but then my dad said ¨It s getting late we should
head to bed. I headed up to my room and i got my PJs on then turned off the lights and fell

The Pros And Cons Of The Intelligence Cycle
Now that the five steps of the Intelligence Cycle have been explored, the new Intelligence Division
must be staffed with personnel. The following eight positions will be created with some having more
than one person assigned: (1) Supervisor of the Intelligence Division, (2) Lead Analyst, (3) Analyst,
(4) Researcher, (5) Geospatial, (6) Link Chart, (7) Liaison, and (8) Social Media Analyst. The
supervisor is responsible for the overall division and reports directly to the Director of Emergency
Management. Staffing the division with appropriate personality types posses a key aspect of this job.
For example, a mixture of competitive Reds, caring Yellows, team oriented Blues, and organized
Greens must be included within the organization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The advantages resulting from this incorporation are immeasurable. For example, during a major
hurricane the Social Media Analyst can monitor information involving trapped survivors, areas
needing water, damaged traffic lights, and damaged roads. Moreover, in major flooding situations, the
geospatial personnel can provide real time pictures of flood levels throughout the city. Thus, not only
will this incorporation save lives, but it will also reduce the amount of property damage that otherwise
would occur. The disadvantages of this incorporation are that existing personnel may feel threatened
by the change, that others will argue that it is too expensive and not worth the monetary expenditure,
and that some may feel it simply will not work better than the existing procedures. Another potential
drawback is failure to avoid biases and mind traps. One example is the confirmation bias or primacy
effect. This occurs when all evidence is examined in the context of confirming an existing belief.
Unfortunately, this occurred in the Iraq WMD scenario whereby everyone thought the weapons
already existed and ignored intelligence to the contrary. Another bias is group think. In this situation
everyone feels that the majority is right, and no one wants to offer a

##enton And Brenton In A Lesson Before Dying And Murder On...
Could crimes be unfairly decided depending on evidence and how it is presented to the court? In fact,
this happens regularly. This results in many people being falsely convicted of a crime which they
never committed. However, the evidence and how it is presented to a jury can change the final
decision. There are several significant similarities and differences between A Lesson Before Dying
and Murder on a Sunday Morning. These include the way the men were treated while on trial, what
type of crime they were accused of, as well as the final decision of the court. The treatment of both
Jefferson in A Lesson Before Dying and Brenton in Murder on a Sunday Morning are very similar.
This is primarily due to the fact that they are both young, black men. First of all, they already had been
accused of the crime due to their race and the negative perspective people tend to have towards
African Americans. Not only that, but they were both referred to as niggers by those working on the
court cases which could also be considered derogatory. Also, they both had their arms and legs in
chains for a large portion of the time in jail when awaiting the trial since they were both deemed
dangerous due to the type of crime they committed. Lastly, Jefferson and Brenton were thoroughly
interrogated and questioned about their relation to the crime and what information they could provide
about it. Given this information, it is clear that A Lesson Before Dying and Murder on a Sunday
Morning had

A Political Cartoon Analysis
Having a Master s degree would be nice. After completing 4 years of college and then going back for
a master s degree and graduating with that is an amazing accomplishment. There is so man benefits
that come with this high degree, more money, better jobs, and more education in the particular work
field as the masters. Let s get this straight, though, going back for a master s degree costs a lot of
money. Just to get a bachelor s degree cost a lot of money so going back to college for more years will
cost a lot more. That s the only downfall of getting a master s degree, the price. In the political cartoon
about a master s degree, the author makes it clear of the downfall of getting that degree which is the
price. He uses color, layout, and characters to make this point very clear. The first notice of this
picture is the color of it. It is not in pretty colors whatsoever. It is two colors, black and white. When
people see black and gray, most people think about back in the day when times were tough and money
was scarce. The black part of the picture brings out the gloom ... Show more content on

In the cartoon, the certain objects and how they are placed shows how the big picture of the cartoon is
proven. When looking at the cartoon, there is a big hand coming from the top right corner, on the
hand, it says lender. Attached to the hand is a chain which is connected to the hands of the graduate.
This chain is handcuffed to the graduate s hand symbolizing that the graduate is stuck and will not be
going anywhere. Also in the photo, the graduate is holding a diploma, but instead of it saying
congratulations, it says DEBT written across it. This depicts that the graduate, since going for a master
s degree, is now in debt. These objects in the image make it very clear that getting a master s degree
will cost a lot of money. The last rhetorical element that proves the author s point is the characters in

Grant Wiggins Influence On Identity
Grant s identity is greatly influenced by the choices he makes to help Jefferson become a man, talking
sense into Jefferson, and doing what he can to prevent him from being executed. Grant Wiggins is
doing whatever he can to help Jefferson become a man before the day of his execution. In the book,
Grant visits the prison where Jefferson is and helps him to become a man before the execution.
Towards the end of the novel, Grant states to Jefferson, I want you to chip away at that myth by
standing. I want you yes you to call them liars. I want you to show them that you are as much a man
more a man than they can ever be (Gains 192). What Grant is wanting Jefferson to do is stand up for
himself. He wants Jefferson to be confident in his truth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book, Grant is the one who talks to Jefferson in this tough time and tries to excite him to stand
up for his innocence. Grant says, Those out there are no better than we are. They are worse, that s why
they re always looking for a scapegoat. I want you to show them the difference between what they
think you are and what you can be (Gains 191). Grant is trying to find something inside of Jefferson to
get him to fight for his innocence. They think he s guilty but they both know that he s innocent. Grant
is trying to tell Jefferson that he needs to find the inner strength to stand up for what he knows is right.
Also, Grant says to Jefferson, I can t tell you anything about life, he said. What do I know about life? I
stayed here. There s nothing but ignorance here. You want to know about life? Well it s too late. Forget
it. Just go on and be the nigger you re born to be, but forget about life (Gains 65). Grant is clearly
frustrated with himself and the situation. He s at a loss at what to say to Jefferson, so he tells him to
live up to the stereotype. Grant is saying everything he knows to try and convince Jefferson to
proclaim his innocence. Grant continues to try and motivate Jefferson by instilling some sense into

Cell Membrane Permeability
Only uncharged, small, polar molecules, (such as water) and hydrophobic molecules, (such as oxygen,
carbon dioxide) and lipid soluble molecules (such as hydrocarbons) can freely pass across the
membrane. All ions and large polar molecules (such as glucose) are not permeable to the membrane.
Membrane structure
The plasma membrane maintains dynamic homeostasis by separating the internal metabolic events of
the cell from its external environment and controlling the movement of materials into and out of the
cell. The membrane is a double phospholipid membrane, also referred to as a phospholipid bilayer,
and has polar hydrophilic ( water loving ) phosphate heads around the outside and non polar
hydrophobic ( water fearing ) fatty acid tails on the inside of the membrane. Slight variations in these
structure of the fatty acids in the membrane alter the fluidity of the membrane. Phospholipids with
saturated fatty acid pack more tightly, because of the nature of their single carbon bonds. This leads to
a more rigid membrane. Unsaturated fatty acids, which have double carbon bonds, limit packing and
result in a more flexible membrane. Cholesterol molecules distributed throughout the phospholipid
bilayer provide some stability to the plasma membranes of animal cells. At higher temperatures the
cholesterol molecules allow the membrane to be firmer, at lower temperatures they allow for
flexibility.

Language In The Korean Language
The Korean language contains unique characteristics that differentiate it from thousands of other
languages. While writing and speaking in languages are typically synonymous with each other, the
two structures themselves differently in the Korean language. Without the knowledge of the difference
between writing and speaking in Korean, becoming fluent in the language can prove to be a difficulty
(P. S. Hsiang, pg. 1). The intimidating and strenuous format of the language creates an easier
understanding, despite its paradoxical appearance. However, the function of the format makes
conversing and expressing oneself much quicker and easier; toddlers between the ages of two and
three retain the ability to state their thoughts and feelings, while most Americans who are taught
English can only speak following a two word format that only consists of nouns and possible
prepositions. Koreans who are taught Hangul can link these two ideas together, and develop quickly
enough later in life to master the language by age 4 (Korean Overseas Information Service, pg. 1).
These quick milestone achievements that Koreans experience when learning Hangul owes itself to its
structure; their alphabet splits itself into consonants and vowels, each section only having around 10
14 letters. The combination of the two divisions creates a quicker understanding when kids
differentiate between what letters to use in a word, as opposed to English s homogenous 26 letters we
must choose from. The history and cleverness behind the creation of Hangul find itself at the
beginning of rich Korean history, with their 14th century king, Sejong the Great, also complemented
with their language variation, and honorifics. The beginning of the Korean language starts off with the
creation of the Korean alphabet. During the 14th century, around 1440 of the Yi Dynasty, King Sejong
composed of their writing system, which had about 28 symbols. Before Hangul was produced, the
writing system that represented Korea during the period were Chinese characters. Although the
Koreans didn t speak actual Chinese, they borrowed their characters to embody the verbalization of a
native Korean. Despite the Chinese characters being the language for Koreans, only the most

Measure Of Income Inequality
In the past 20 years income inequality has become a major issue in particular within the United States
(US) where a significant income gap has occurred. This is exemplified by the US Gini index (GI), a
measure of income inequality, which has risen from 43 in 1990 to around 47 in 2010 and is continuing
to trend upward (David Moss, 2011). This has now become a problem that both develop and
developing nations face. The main causes being globalization and technology. In developed countries
globalization has increased cheap foreign imports with technology making importing extremely cost
efficient. There s also the outsourcing or the replacement of low skill jobs with newer technology.
These two processes have contributed to higher profits for executives while low skill workers are
losing their jobs by the thousands. In developing countries globalization has led to low skill workers
having to compete in cheap labor markets dropping their wages even further. Technology in these
developing countries has also increased income inequality with their lower class unable even be
literate enough to learn newer technology. Therefore, inequality damages economies and workforces
on a world scale

Why Should Schools Go To Year Round School
Year round Schooling
Schools around the U.S. are switching to a calendar called year round school. Kids in year round
schools go to school from six to nine weeks without breaks and a two to four week break. There has
been a debate on whether Florida should go to year round or not. Florida should go to year round
school because there is less teacher and student burnout, and teachers would have to spend less time
reviewing material that would be lost over summer break. Regular schools give teachers an advantage
because it allows teachers more time to prepare for the next school year and finalize grades, but
Florida should go to year round school because the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.
Firstly, year round schools decrease student ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, finalizing grades and preparing the classroom is generally easy with the correct time
frame. With year round school, those tasks might have to be performed within one to two days.
According to text 2 from National Education Association, it states, When teachers begin a new school
year, they usually have the time to attend staff meetings, tidy up their classrooms, and to prepare for
incoming students. Those who teach at year round schools, where the school year begins a week after
the previous year ended, find themselves in a different situation. Finalizing grades and report cards
may take place while school is still in session, leaving teachers with a little over a day to prepare for
the upcoming school year, only a week away. This means that teachers teaching at year round schools
are at a disadvantage because they have less time to prepare for the following school year than the
regular schooled teachers do. In conclusion, Florida should switch to year round schooling. Florida
should switch to year round schooling because students and teachers experience less burnout, and
teachers don t have to review as much because students don t lose as much knowledge as they do over
summer. While regular schools give teachers an advantage over preparing for the next year, Florida
should switch to year round schooling because there are more advantages than disadvantages. Florida
would benefit from the year round schooling, and the benefits of it would improve the overall
education level in this glorious

How Cultural Diversity Is Changing The Workforce. In Today’S
How Cultural Diversity Is Changing the Workforce In today s society there are many culturally
diverse people in the workforce. Most organizations can no longer make the assumption that every
employee has similar beliefs or expectations. When entering into the global marketplace, people are
considered one of the most valuable resources to an organization s success. A well managed culturally
diverse workforce has the potential to thrive if managed correctly; or if mismanaged, there can be
devastating negative attributes. With great expectations, culturally diverse employees can foster
positive outcomes in the workplace. A company s acknowledgement to embrace diversity and change,

From our research, we identified three different perspectives on workforce diversity that people
embrace, each with different implications for a work group s ability to realize the benefits of its
cultural diversity. We use these observations here to examine critically some of the themes and basic
assumptions of previous research and to propose new directions for both researchers and practitioners
interested in diversity (Ely Thomas, 2001). When organizations have a diverse economy, it makes the
company strong. Once our nation has embrace the changes from the demographics that reap the
economic benefits of a diverse and inclusive workforce. Burns et al. (2012) stated in their
investigation that:
In June 2012, approximately 155,163,00 people were in the labor force (those actively employed or
seeking employment). With a total U.S. working age population of approximately 243 million
individuals, the labor force participation rate currently stands at 63.8 percent. Out of those 155 million
individuals in the labor force, 142,415,00 are currently employed, with unemployment hovering
around 8.2 percent .
Statics stated by 2020 the labor force is projected to reach more than 146 million U.S. citizens, a 5.9
percent from today. Economists predict the labor force participation rate will decrease over the coming

The GSA empowers girls and prepares them for life by promoting a variety of character traits like
courage, compassion and confidence through activities similar to the BSA. The girls can earn badges

prestigious achievement called the Gold Award for accomplishing a major goal after completing the

then should the girls be joining the boys if they are so similar? The BSA is selling the idea that it
would be more convenient for families to have one program that welcomes the entire family. It is
interesting that the GSA leadership is opposed to this change and reports that this is a ploy to boost the

Christopher Edwin Breaux Research Paper
Christopher Edwin Breaux was born on October 28 1987 in Long Beach, California. When he was
about five years old, his family moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. When Breaux was young he would
go around doing neighborhood chores to earn money to rent studio time to work on music he was
creating. The first type of music he was exposed to was through his mother s CD s of Celine Dion and
Phantom Of The Opera. After Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, Breaux moved to Los Angeles to
continue working on music where he earned a songwriting deal and began writing music for artists
such as Justin Bieber, John Legend, and Beyonce. In 2009, he changed his name to Frank Ocean and

This is most noticeable in the song White Ferrari where Ocean sings in a rhythm that sounds almost
identical to the popular song Here, There, and Everywhere by The Beatles. The album starts off with
Nikes, a slow, hypnotic song, featuring high pitched vocals from Ocean, and a very dreamy sound,
somewhat creating a mood for the rest of the album. The next songs, Ivy and Pink and White, are
polar opposites about love, where in Ivy, Ocean talks about how he failed to keep a relationship going
on, and in Pink and White he sings about intimate love and good long term relationships. The album
also contains skits like Be Yourself where Frank s mother leaves a phone call for him telling him not
to consume alcohol, not to get in the car with someone who has consumed alcohol, or is impaired by
smoking marijuana, and a skit called Facebook Story, about a man who lost his wife because he didn t
friend her on Facebook. Although short, this skit has a powerful message: social media can and will
destroy long built relationships with somebody you love.
The highlights of the album come from songs like Solo, a gospel influenced song with somewhat of an
Adele influence. Godspeed is another heavily gospel influenced song where Ocean proves strong his
abilities as a singer with a very strong vocal performances and a basic piano instrumental. (It should

language is used by minorities in rap music . Rap music has made their own image of what women are
in their eyes and this has caused others to treat females a certain way. Women have always been
portrayed as weak, feisty, helpless, property, and more. Females start to believe this about themselves
having low self esteem, not wanting to be in relationships, and thinking they aren t good enough. In
reality, they might not feel that way, but that s how they are talked about in music so they believe they

2000 Word Essay on Being a Team Leader
Non Commissioned officers are a vital part of the United States Army which is why they are often

army, everywhere from the lowest Sergeant or Corporal as a team leader to the First Sergeant working
as advisory and counter part to a Captain in charge of a Company, to a Command Sergeant Major,
responsible for anything fro a battalion to an entire post. Regardless of which position a non

Making the right choice and acting on it when faced with an ethical question can be difficult.
Sometimes, it means standing your ground and telling your supervisor you think their wrong. If you
think an order is illegal, first be sure that you understand both the details of the order and its original
intent.
With all these things in consideration it is clear that being a non commissioned officer is a job that
holds absolute importance in the army. In a field environment the job of a non commissioned officer is
to lead their soldiers into combat and issue orders commanding their team, squad or platoon. A team
leader in specific is tasked with possibly the most difficult job in the army. They deal with their small
group of four or five soldiers but in the most direct hands on approach, more so than any other non
commissioned officer job in the Army. Although it is the most junior position as a non commission
officer it holds the most difficult task which does a lot to break in a new non commissioned officer. If
a team leader fails to do his job its will usually hold the biggest consequences. If a team leader fails
his soldiers in a combat situation soldiers can be wounded or killed. Although this is the most extreme
outcome a team leader must work hard to learn his position and embrace his duties as quickly and
responsibly as possible. Being a team leader in a garrison environment is also very difficult but also a

Graffiti In Australia
Overnight a paste up, created by Baby Guerrilla, has been placed on a wall in West Footscray. As a
member of the arts committee, I contend that this piece of art shall remain, but not be sustained. It is
undeniable that street art is a prominent part of Melbourne s culture. A vital component of street art is
the fact that it is impermanent. This is one of the countless factors that separates it from traditional art
featured in studios, museums, and homes. Street art holds the purpose to be seen then and there,
therefore its removal or sustainment would defeat this purpose.
On the website of Baby Guerrilla she stated that she believes in the idea of setting art free, setting our

The critically acclaimed Disney movie, The Lion King and world renowned play, Hamlet bear many

characters are seen with their own counterparts. One of the first major plot alignments of the two
stories is both main protagonists, Hamlet and Simba s fathers, King Hamlet and King Mufasa die at

is no wonder why the American people have lost trust in their government, and why the United States
has become the laughing stock of foreign countries. The 2016 presidential election was arguably the
most controversial election in American history; many voters felt that neither of the candidates could
be trusted due to their questionable actions. Numerous Americans were outraged when current U.S.
president, Donald J. Trump, was sworn into office; due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Flynn was one of the earliest supporters of Trump s campaign. Often known to have harsh political

Russian Ambassador while he was in Washington. This scandal was revealed when Flynn was only

The Character Elbow in Shakespeare s Play, Measure for Measure
In Act 2, scene 1 of the play Measure for Measure the character Elbow, a representation of the
Comedic Constable often depicted in William Shakespeare s comedies and traji comedies, gives the
director an unusual creative license in portraying this figure to give the audience a rich theatrical
experience. (Evans 427) These characters are most commonly depicted as artless, inadequate, naïve,
and prosaic men who bumble through their official duties, sublimely unaware of their blunders, intent
upon fulfilling their offices even when they are not really sure just what those offices are. (Evans 427)

In this scene Elbow s misplacing creates a atmosphere of topsy turvydom, wherein the judges are
varlets, Pompey is an honorable man, a respected fellow, indeed...a benefactor. (Ross 52) It is
impossible to miss the fun of this scene, which deliberately echoes and parallels and so recalls the
Dogberry Verges scenes in Much Ado About Nothing. (Bennett 31)
Elbow has just shortly entered the court in a rather loud commotion with Froth and Pompey, whom he
is pushing along and leading by their elbows. He has raised accusations against them and has come to
have the courts investigate and give ruling on the matter. Elbow approaches with them to Angelo, who
is seated in the Duke s chair in place of his absence, and Escalus, who is standing on his right beside
him. Elbow s appearance is neat as he wears a badge signifying his position as constable, but burdened
by a belt which contains a club, a large key ring with numerous keys, a pair of handcuffs, and other
odds and ends. Angelo is wearing a black court judge s robe, Escalus is in a formal attire with a suit,

Inferential Statistics in Business
In today s world, we are faced with situations everyday where Statistics can be applied. In general,
Statistics is the science of collecting, organizing, and analyzing numerical data. The techniques
involved in Statistics are important for the work of many professions, thus the proper preparation and
theoretical background of Statistics is valuable for many successful career paths. Marketing
campaigns, the realm of gambling, professional sports, the world of business and economics, the
political domain, education, and forecasting future occurrences are all areas which fundamentally rely
on the use of Statistics. Statistics is a broad subject that branches off into several categories. In

The distribution of the test statistic under the null hypothesis is derived from the assumptions
identified previously. Common test statistics may follow the following distributions: Normal, Student
T, and Chi Square. This distribution separates the possible values of the estimator into two categories:
values for which the null hypothesis is accepted or rejected. The region for which we accept the null
hypothesis is called the critical region and the area underneath the curve that corresponds to the
critical region is known as the level of confidence. Hence, we can develop a confidence interval for
which we can see the lowest and highest point of the critical region. Any observed sample mean that
lies outside of this confidence interval (outside the critical region) would cause us to reject the null
hypothesis in favor of the alternative hypothesis. The area of the rejection region is known as the level
of significance and represents type I error (alpha) corresponding to the probability that a true null
hypothesis is rejected (as opposed to type II error beta; the probability of accepting a false null
hypothesis). Essentially, hypothesis testing calls for comparing a test statistic to the critical value of
the test statistic. If this test statistic is greater than the critical value of the test statistic, we will reject
the null hypothesis in favor of the alternative hypothesis. If

The As A Verb From The Saxon Language And Means
The phrase, So Mote it Be is a phrase like all others, but derives a more simplistic meaning that dates
back thousands of years. So Mote it Be , is a verb from the Saxon language and means must . With the
term used in Pagan society, the term is said and very little is known of the word, it has been used for
centuries, but the most unlikely aristocrats of society.
Over the years, as I have studied about Paganism and the different paths that came forth, I have always
had this feeling that when saying the term, So Mote it Be at the end of a ritual or spell, was kind of
like saying Amen . While I felt the two terms had a connections, I always felt that So Mote it Be was a
term that felt more familiar, that I had been saying it forever. With the term having a similar meaning
to Amen , it feels more grounded to me. Like saying it sends it out to the four corners of the universe,
and from there the universe can take what I have asked and use it as it so pleases.
In today s modern Pagan and Wiccan society, the term is used abundantly. As I was researching this
term, I was shocked to find out that the Freemasons use So Mote it Be in their own rituals, and the
society of Freemasons, are a Christian group, but using a Pagan term. Or a term more associated with
Pagans. With Pagans using the term at the end of rituals and spell work, it used as an ending to the

DNA Forensic Essay
Setting aside the fact that DNA forensic technique is to a great degree helpful. This nonetheless, does
not take away from the fact that even it too has its limitation. In some multiplex situations such as
(such as with DNA mixtures). DNA call for and depend on analyst putting together a variation of
subjective judgements that are prone to bias. Furthermore, contrary to the perspective that DNA is
objective, some have suggested that DNA examination interpretations might be biased and could even
be impacted by various factors.
To illustrate the subjectivity of DNA forensic a study was carried out by Itiel E. Dror and Greg
Hampikian. The study entailed taking DNA from a real crime scene in Georgia that involved a Kerry
Robinson who was indicted and then sentenced to prison for rape. As a part of his trial process a DNA
test was carried out on him and it was found that he could not be excluded. Resuming to the study, a
mixed sample of DNA evidence was given to 17 expert analysts who were asked to interpret the DNA
sample. In the end their findings were inconsistence, with only one of them findings matching the

( 7 ) Explain Your Allergic ( Inflammation ) Response To...
7. (4 pts) Explain your allergic (inflammation) response to the bee sting. How will this response affect
your BP? After being stung by the bee, one indicator that you are having an allergic reaction in this
case is extreme redness of the skin. The bee sting injected allergens into your body and your body
overreacts trying to fight off the allergens and cause an allergic reaction. There are minor allergic
reactions and more severe ones. In this case if my body is turning red everywhere, and not just where i
was stung, then it is a more severe reaction. Swelling and Itchiness are some symptoms to follow the
redness of the skin but it is also common for your blood pressure to drop due to an allergic reaction
which should not be taken lightly.
8. (8 pts) Explain your autonomic response to this event. State which division is taking control and
describe exactly how that division will effect breathing rate, heart rate, sweating, and pupil size.
(Note: don t just describe the effect, but describe the specific control pathway that leads to each effect,
including any chemical messengers involved.) In stressful situations the body activates its Autonomic
Nervous System in an attempt to maintain homeostasis. The primary function is to regulate the stress
response. The amygdala recognizes the threat and the hypothalamus controls the release of hormones
from the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland can release hormones into the bloodstream that travel

The Cathedral of Chartres is located Southwest of Paris in Chartres, France. The Cathedral of Chartres
is considered one of the most exquisite representations of the French Gothic architectural style. This
Cathedral was constructed during 1194 through 1250, yet still contains many of its original artifacts
such as the stained glass art. The North facing Rose Window displays the Old Testament and is
dedicated to the Virgin. These images within the Rose represent Judah and the twelve Kings and the

So I suggest yes that they should be involve on the team improvement teams. Their Participation
refers to active involvement on implementation. They can participate in oversight, governance,
operations, opinion surveys, and complaints. Also according to Rodwin, the aims of early Health
Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) parallel those of consumer/ patient movements. Managed care
offers many benefits. It can increase access to primary and preventive care (with minimal or no out of
pocket costs). It can also monitor and improve the practices of physicians and other health care
providers and coordinate and rationalize the services of specialists. It can also control spending.
Consumer involvement can put managers in touch with the experience and desires of customers. It can
provide balance and perspective. Although they are being part of the team performance, their voice
should be limited and watch over. Consumer voice, participation and representation programs,
however, need to be viewed critically because they might demand too many services and can become
divided and polarize issues, leading to increased conflict. So therefore, future challenge is to foster
balanced, appropriate and effective use of consumer voice.

Sports Star Responsibilities
The Responsibility of a Sports Star Sports are a very important part of entertainment in society in this
day in age and almost everyone watches them. Athletes go head to head and give everything they can
on the court, field, ring, e.t.c to win and beat their opponents and people love watching the
competition. But what about off of the court in the locker room or in public after the game? There are
many speculations of if these sports stars have the responsibility of setting a good example for the
people that look up to them as role models. In a commercial in 1993, basketball star Charles Barkley
stated, I m not paid to be a role model. I m paid to wreak havoc on the basketball court. This is true,
however, many young children aspiring to be sports stars in the future cannot help but admire him and
be like him in the future. Though some believe that sports stars should focus on the game and not care
about how society sees them off of the court, I believe that they have the responsibility as people to be
good role models for children. In our modern era, technology allows us to see news for around the
world at a click of a button. It is nearly impossible to not know about what is going on with people
that are famous no matter how hard they try to keep it hidden. Satellite television follows with more
game coverage, more analysis on the players, and more focus on the personality of players and it is
inescapable (Steinberg). Athletes are admired by many and these people can

The Standard Oil Trust of Ohio was and American oil producing, refining, and transporting company.
It was founded in 1863 by John D. Rockefeller and lasted until 1911. During 1868, Rockefeller
expanded the oil company to become the largest oil refining company in the world. In 1870, the
company was renamed Standard Oil Company. After it was renamed, Rockefeller purchased most of
the oil companies that were currently in business to make one large company.
Rockefeller s actions created a monopoly. A monopoly is when someone owns most or all of the

Her work for this magazine caught the attention of Samuel Sidney McClure, the founder of McClure s

Later on, a whole new generation of investigative journalists called muckrakers , given the name by

Roosevelt gave these opinionated journalists the pessimistic label muckrakers in a speech in 1906.
Despite this negative label, Tarbell campaigned with the other journalists.
For two years, Tarbell looked through public records, state and federal reports, and court cases to
figure out what Rockefeller s tactics were when building the Standard Oil Company. Tarbell used this

The Definition Of The Art And Science Of Nursing
The Art and Science of Nursing Nursing is art and science, carried out by nurses of all ages and
backgrounds who all bring their own personal and professional experience and beliefs. The nursing
profession was built on a foundation of art and science and both must be embraced. I will be
explaining my definition of the concepts of the art and the science of nursing and the aspect that drew
me into the profession personally. Two TED talks will also be discussed about what I feel are their
common themes and how those themes relate to nursing.
The Art of Nursing The art of nursing is the compassion and care nurses put into their care daily with
the major focus being the patient. It is therapeutic communication that conveys the message with
respect, empathy, and understanding. It is being a strong advocate, compassionate care giver and a
great listener. The art of nursing also means to be aware. Knowing when your patient needs something
without them having to verbally express those needs, including both physical and emotional needs. In
my daily practice, I exhibit the use of the art of nursing by genuinely caring for my patients, not only
administering medications, and performing other scheduled tasks, but taking the time to get to know
them. I strive to learn at least one thing about each patient I care for that has nothing to do with their
illness. Taking care of a patient s emotional needs is as important as caring for their physical needs.

How The Segmentation Task Would Be Implemented
One of the most important steps towards the completion of this project was the formulation of how the
segmentation task would be implemented. The segmentation strategy should be designed in such a
way that it can efficiently deal with the main challenges of the dataset.
Firstly, the method should be able to ignore background noise, as well as objects that are not
LDL particles. Additionally, it should be able to deal with adjacent and overlapping particles.
A widely used strategy[26, 4] is to face this problem as a binary classification task, with the goal of
classifying each pixel that lies on the surface of the object of interest as 1 and every other pixel as 0.
However, this strategy would lead to loss of spatial information about the ... Show more content on

Usually, more training data lead to a more robust network that can generalise better and as a result,
make more accurate predictions. However, in some cases, it is difficult to acquire large amounts of
training data, because their collection or production is either very time consuming or very expensive.
In the case of the micrographs this project is dealing with, the manual annotation process is very time
consuming (hence the need for the automation of this process) and this is why our dataset is limited to
41 images.
However, in order to teach the neural network the desired invariance, a data augmentation strategy
was followed. More specifically, left right and top down mirroring was applied to each image, which
resulted in tripling the size of the original dataset. The same technique was also used on the
corresponding manually created segmentation masks, resulting in a labeled dataset consisting of 123
examples. This augmentation strategy has been proved to boost the performance of convolutional
networks in similar tasks [5]. Further augmentation of the dataset was initially considered by rotating
the images by 90, 180 and 270 degrees, however, training the neural network on such a large dataset,
turned out to be very computationally expensive, leading to very long training time and as a result this
idea was abandoned.
Additionally, to ensure that the memory requirements of the network during

Analysis Of The BookThe Jungle, By Upton Sinclair
Sometimes, your own actions can cause your own pain. One good example of this is The Jungle. The
Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, was written in 1906 and is about an immigrant family, the most important
Jurgis and Ona who come to America, hoping to find freedom, liberty, and most importantly, a job, as
well as Jurgis looking to marry Ona. However, they soon find out that that they are being deceived at
every turn, and their lives are worse than before. It is clear that Jurgis is one of the main protagonists,
and while Jurgis and his family are exploited by the bosses , Jurgis is usually the cause of his own
pain, and is his own antagonist. This is unique among books, because the author doesn t usually want
the reader to feel too much pity for the protagonist, but that is exactly what happens in The Jungle.
The most significant ways this happens to Jurgis is by him not listening to other workers at
Packingtown, when he attacked Ona s boss, and when he joined the criminal world.
First, Jurgis caused his own distress by not listening to other workers. These workers had been at
Packingtown far longer that Jurgis, and they knew the truth. They knew about the debt and loss that
comes after working in Packingtown, and they tried to tell Jurgis his was going to come crashing
down at some point. But still Jurgis did not listen. It was after his first day at work that he began to
realize, with a sinking feeling, that perhaps the other workers were right, saying When he came home
that night he was in a very sombre mood, having begun to see at last how those might be right who
had laughed at him for his faith in America (Sinclair 72). Jurgis was beginning to see that the others
were right, and yet he still didn t listen, and kept going with job. Shortly after, he gets pulled into debt
and can no longer escape. Jurgis was his own enemy, taking the bait of the trap, even when everyone
told him not to.
Second, the most evident way Jurgis was his own antagonist was when he attacked Ona s boss. By this
time, he was married to Ona, and she was very dear to him. So when her boss blackmails Ona into
obeying his every command, no matter how demoralized it may be, Jurgis gets very angry, so he goes
and attacks her boss. The people

Thomas Paine Questions
1. Why do you think Thomas Paine writes Common Sense anonymously? How does he think his work
will be remembered? Thomas Paine wrote Common Sense anonymously because the ideas he used in
writing the book were contradicting the government at that time. If the government knew that he wrote
it then they will take action against him to punish him. He probably thought that his work would
remain as something memorable such as it was only there to raise the spirit of the colonist to fight
back and to stand up against the government.

6. What is the view of Gideon that Paine uses as an example? As the exalting one man so greatly
above the rest cannot be justified on the equal rights of nature, so neither can it be defended on the
authority of scripture; for the will of the Almighty (Gideon). From this quote of Gideon, we can
assume Gideon s point of views. He thinks that all men are equal and no one man can be above the
rest. He also thinks that only God can rule over people.
7. What does Paine think that America will gain by separating from England? According to Paine,
America will gain by separating from England is that it would not get contaminated by the monarchy
he has been criticizing. Then, America will gain wealth and most importantly it will gain
independence.
8.Describe Thomas Paine s life and background, including where he is originally from and what his
reputation was before, during, and after writing Common Sense. On January 29, 1737, Thomas Paine
was born in Thetford, England. His father had grand visions for his son, but by the age of 12, Thomas
had failed out of school. The young Paine began apprenticing for his father, but again, he failed. So,

though The Story of an Hour and The Interlopers are written on two different topics they are still

The Complexity of the United Nations
I choose this topic to reflect more about the complexity of the UN as an organization. In this paper I
want to present an overview standpoint of documents, publications, databases and websites to show
the history and the different branches in the organization and raise some of the accusations behind the
peacekeepers.
After the First World War, people felt the necessity of an international organization with the task of
maintaining global peace. After the 1st World War the League of Nations was the outcome of that
feeling, but it was found that nations were unwilling to give any international authority the jurisdiction
over their lands. But after the result of these selfish policies the Second World War started. At the
close of this second catastrophic war, the minds of men turned again to evoke a more effective world
organization, to establish peace and mutual understanding.
Chapter I of the United Nations Charter lay out the purposes and principles of the United Nations
organization. These principles include the equality and self determination of nations, respect of human
rights and fundamental freedoms.
This organization was planned at a Conference of Nations held at Dumbarton Oaks, U.S.A., and at
another held a few months later at San Francisco. It was named the United Nations Organization
(UNO) and was inaugurated on October 24, 1945. Now, membership has doubled since its
inauguration with 192 member states. New members are admitted if the five sponsoring nations, USA,

Ballerina Persuasive Speech
Ballerinas Do Not Jump High Because They Are Light weighted, It Is Because They Know How to
Recently an advert for the TTC had triggered protest from plus sized people: all the beautiful
ballerinas doing elegant posts and jumps being slim and tall are featured in the We Move You advert,
promoting the superior beauty of slimness. Many people may think that only slim people can do the
ballet jumps, especially the classic one featured: the grand jeté, a split in the air. But in reality, it s not
the slimness in working, it s the physics. The word, grand jeté, meaning big throw in French, is used
to describe the move of the dancer throwing and hanging themselves in the air. In preparation of the
jump, the dancer would run for a few steps or do a smaller jump to get their body in motion
horizontally, and get their knees bent more to store energy that is used to push the whole body up, like
jumping with a spring on, and take off. When the dancer s legs are off the ground, the real challenge
starts. Any object off the ground, no matter how much it weighted, near the Earth surface is subjected
to the constant gravitational force, which pulls the object, including the ballerina s body, down to the
ground. So how does a ballerina stays in the air as if they were hanged mid air? The answer is in the
split. But first, we have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Then my mom tells me that we are doing laser Tag with my family in my backyard. Then i ask my mom what are the teams? because there are four different teams and i m playing with eight people. My mom says You go with Christa, Layla with me, Paige with Matilda, Trey with dad. • 5. The Pros And Cons Of The Intelligence Cycle Now that the five steps of the Intelligence Cycle have been explored, the new Intelligence Division must be staffed with personnel. The following eight positions will be created with some having more than one person assigned: (1) Supervisor of the Intelligence Division, (2) Lead Analyst, (3) Analyst, (4) Researcher, (5) Geospatial, (6) Link Chart, (7) Liaison, and (8) Social Media Analyst. The supervisor is responsible for the overall division and reports directly to the Director of Emergency Management. Staffing the division with appropriate personality types posses a key aspect of this job. For example, a mixture of competitive Reds, caring Yellows, team oriented Blues, and organized Greens must be included within the organization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The advantages resulting from this incorporation are immeasurable. For example, during a major hurricane the Social Media Analyst can monitor information involving trapped survivors, areas needing water, damaged traffic lights, and damaged roads. Moreover, in major flooding situations, the geospatial personnel can provide real time pictures of flood levels throughout the city. Thus, not only will this incorporation save lives, but it will also reduce the amount of property damage that otherwise would occur. The disadvantages of this incorporation are that existing personnel may feel threatened by the change, that others will argue that it is too expensive and not worth the monetary expenditure, and that some may feel it simply will not work better than the existing procedures. Another potential drawback is failure to avoid biases and mind traps. One example is the confirmation bias or primacy effect. This occurs when all evidence is examined in the context of confirming an existing belief. Unfortunately, this occurred in the Iraq WMD scenario whereby everyone thought the weapons already existed and ignored intelligence to the contrary. Another bias is group think. In this situation everyone feels that the majority is right, and no one wants to offer a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. ##enton And Brenton In A Lesson Before Dying And Murder On... Could crimes be unfairly decided depending on evidence and how it is presented to the court? In fact, this happens regularly. This results in many people being falsely convicted of a crime which they never committed. However, the evidence and how it is presented to a jury can change the final decision. There are several significant similarities and differences between A Lesson Before Dying and Murder on a Sunday Morning. These include the way the men were treated while on trial, what type of crime they were accused of, as well as the final decision of the court. The treatment of both Jefferson in A Lesson Before Dying and Brenton in Murder on a Sunday Morning are very similar. This is primarily due to the fact that they are both young, black men. First of all, they already had been accused of the crime due to their race and the negative perspective people tend to have towards African Americans. Not only that, but they were both referred to as niggers by those working on the court cases which could also be considered derogatory. Also, they both had their arms and legs in chains for a large portion of the time in jail when awaiting the trial since they were both deemed dangerous due to the type of crime they committed. Lastly, Jefferson and Brenton were thoroughly interrogated and questioned about their relation to the crime and what information they could provide about it. Given this information, it is clear that A Lesson Before Dying and Murder on a Sunday Morning had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. A Political Cartoon Analysis Having a Master s degree would be nice. After completing 4 years of college and then going back for a master s degree and graduating with that is an amazing accomplishment. There is so man benefits that come with this high degree, more money, better jobs, and more education in the particular work field as the masters. Let s get this straight, though, going back for a master s degree costs a lot of money. Just to get a bachelor s degree cost a lot of money so going back to college for more years will cost a lot more. That s the only downfall of getting a master s degree, the price. In the political cartoon about a master s degree, the author makes it clear of the downfall of getting that degree which is the price. He uses color, layout, and characters to make this point very clear. The first notice of this picture is the color of it. It is not in pretty colors whatsoever. It is two colors, black and white. When people see black and gray, most people think about back in the day when times were tough and money was scarce. The black part of the picture brings out the gloom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the cartoon, the certain objects and how they are placed shows how the big picture of the cartoon is proven. When looking at the cartoon, there is a big hand coming from the top right corner, on the hand, it says lender. Attached to the hand is a chain which is connected to the hands of the graduate. • 9. Cell Membrane Permeability Only uncharged, small, polar molecules, (such as water) and hydrophobic molecules, (such as oxygen, carbon dioxide) and lipid soluble molecules (such as hydrocarbons) can freely pass across the membrane. All ions and large polar molecules (such as glucose) are not permeable to the membrane. Membrane structure The plasma membrane maintains dynamic homeostasis by separating the internal metabolic events of the cell from its external environment and controlling the movement of materials into and out of the cell. The membrane is a double phospholipid membrane, also referred to as a phospholipid bilayer, and has polar hydrophilic ( water loving ) phosphate heads around the outside and non polar hydrophobic ( water fearing ) fatty acid tails on the inside of the membrane. Slight variations in these structure of the fatty acids in the membrane alter the fluidity of the membrane. Phospholipids with saturated fatty acid pack more tightly, because of the nature of their single carbon bonds. This leads to a more rigid membrane. Unsaturated fatty acids, which have double carbon bonds, limit packing and result in a more flexible membrane. Cholesterol molecules distributed throughout the phospholipid bilayer provide some stability to the plasma membranes of animal cells. At higher temperatures the cholesterol molecules allow the membrane to be firmer, at lower temperatures they allow for flexibility. • 10. Language In The Korean Language The Korean language contains unique characteristics that differentiate it from thousands of other languages. While writing and speaking in languages are typically synonymous with each other, the two structures themselves differently in the Korean language. Without the knowledge of the difference between writing and speaking in Korean, becoming fluent in the language can prove to be a difficulty (P. S. Hsiang, pg. 1). The intimidating and strenuous format of the language creates an easier understanding, despite its paradoxical appearance. However, the function of the format makes conversing and expressing oneself much quicker and easier; toddlers between the ages of two and three retain the ability to state their thoughts and feelings, while most Americans who are taught English can only speak following a two word format that only consists of nouns and possible prepositions. Koreans who are taught Hangul can link these two ideas together, and develop quickly enough later in life to master the language by age 4 (Korean Overseas Information Service, pg. 1). These quick milestone achievements that Koreans experience when learning Hangul owes itself to its structure; their alphabet splits itself into consonants and vowels, each section only having around 10 14 letters. The combination of the two divisions creates a quicker understanding when kids differentiate between what letters to use in a word, as opposed to English s homogenous 26 letters we must choose from. The history and cleverness behind the creation of Hangul find itself at the beginning of rich Korean history, with their 14th century king, Sejong the Great, also complemented with their language variation, and honorifics. The beginning of the Korean language starts off with the creation of the Korean alphabet. During the 14th century, around 1440 of the Yi Dynasty, King Sejong composed of their writing system, which had about 28 symbols. Before Hangul was produced, the writing system that represented Korea during the period were Chinese characters. Although the Koreans didn t speak actual Chinese, they borrowed their characters to embody the verbalization of a native Korean. This is exemplified by the US Gini index (GI), a measure of income inequality, which has risen from 43 in 1990 to around 47 in 2010 and is continuing to trend upward (David Moss, 2011). This has now become a problem that both develop and developing nations face. The main causes being globalization and technology. In developed countries globalization has increased cheap foreign imports with technology making importing extremely cost efficient. There s also the outsourcing or the replacement of low skill jobs with newer technology. These two processes have contributed to higher profits for executives while low skill workers are losing their jobs by the thousands. In developing countries globalization has led to low skill workers having to compete in cheap labor markets dropping their wages even further. Those who teach at year round schools, where the school year begins a week after the previous year ended, find themselves in a different situation. Finalizing grades and report cards may take place while school is still in session, leaving teachers with a little over a day to prepare for the upcoming school year, only a week away. The region for which we accept the null hypothesis is called the critical region and the area underneath the curve that corresponds to the critical region is known as the level of confidence. Hence, we can develop a confidence interval for which we can see the lowest and highest point of the critical region. Ibn al Haytham invented the Pinhole camera in the early 1000s after realizing the way the light came through the shutters on a window. The invention of the camera is important since it is used everyday to capture moments, to communicate with others, and for education. Have you ever thought about what life would be like without cameras? Just in the year of 2015 there was 880 billion pictures taken. Cameras have changed our society and the way that people live, especially photographers. Photographers whole life is the camera, so the 50 million people right now, would not ... One feature of the team in this case is frequent turnover among team members. How might turnover among team members affect team performance? What approaches can team leaders to take to minimize potential negative impacts of turnover and gain advantages, if any? Employee/team member turnover may be mostly a negative issue, yet it can become positive if only controlled by the organization correctly and appropriately. Turnover is often utilized as an indicator of the organization performance and it can easily be observed negatively towards the organization s efficiency and ... They can participate in oversight, governance, operations, opinion surveys, and complaints. Also according to Rodwin, the aims of early Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) parallel those of consumer/ patient movements. Managed care offers many benefits. It can increase access to primary and preventive care (with minimal or no out of pocket costs). It can also monitor and improve the practices of physicians and other health care providers and coordinate and rationalize the services of specialists. It can also control spending. Consumer involvement can put managers in touch with the experience and desires of customers. It can provide balance and perspective. Although they are being part of the team performance, their voice should be limited and watch over. Consumer voice, participation and representation programs, however, need to be viewed critically because they might demand too many services and can become divided and polarize issues, leading to increased conflict. So therefore, future challenge is to foster balanced, appropriate and effective use of consumer voice. 3. Even when team improvement efforts achieve change, the sustainability of change remains a pervasive challenge. In fact, sustainability of the teams may be problematic. What are the particular obstacles to sustaining the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Sports Star Responsibilities The Responsibility of a Sports Star Sports are a very important part of entertainment in society in this day in age and almost everyone watches them. Athletes go head to head and give everything they can on the court, field, ring, e.t.c to win and beat their opponents and people love watching the competition. But what about off of the court in the locker room or in public after the game? There are many speculations of if these sports stars have the responsibility of setting a good example for the people that look up to them as role models. In a commercial in 1993, basketball star Charles Barkley stated, I m not paid to be a role model. I m paid to wreak havoc on the basketball court. This is true, however, many young children aspiring to be sports stars in the future cannot help but admire him and be like him in the future. Though some believe that sports stars should focus on the game and not care about how society sees them off of the court, I believe that they have the responsibility as people to be good role models for children. In our modern era, technology allows us to see news for around the world at a click of a button. It is nearly impossible to not know about what is going on with people that are famous no matter how hard they try to keep it hidden. Satellite television follows with more game coverage, more analysis on the players, and more focus on the personality of players and it is inescapable (Steinberg). Rockefeller and lasted until 1911. During 1868, Rockefeller expanded the oil company to become the largest oil refining company in the world. In 1870, the company was renamed Standard Oil Company. After it was renamed, Rockefeller purchased most of the oil companies that were currently in business to make one large company. Rockefeller s actions created a monopoly. A monopoly is when someone owns most or all of the company or business empire so that no one other person can control it. Rockefeller did this by buying up all of the supplies to make oil barrels so that his competitors were not able to transport ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Ida was 34 years old, she moved to Paris to write her biography. While she was oversees, she supported herself by writing a plethora of articles on the City of Light for the popular magazines. Her work for this magazine caught the attention of Samuel Sidney McClure, the founder of McClure s Magazine, who was looking for writers for his new monthly publication. Tarbell was hired as an editor in 1894 and quickly became McClure s Magazine s most successful writer. She became very successful due to her series on Abraham Lincoln which nearly doubled the number of magazines sold. Later on, a whole new generation of investigative journalists called muckrakers , given the name by President Theodore Roosevelt, began a campaign to expose corruption in businesses. Theodore Roosevelt gave these opinionated journalists the pessimistic label muckrakers in a speech in 1906. Despite this negative label, Tarbell campaigned with the other journalists. For two years, Tarbell looked through public records, state and federal reports, and court cases to figure out what Rockefeller s tactics were when building the Standard Oil Company. Tarbell used this information to write a popular 19 part series called The History of the Standard Oil Company that was published between November 1902 and October 1904. • 31. The Definition Of The Art And Science Of Nursing The Art and Science of Nursing Nursing is art and science, carried out by nurses of all ages and backgrounds who all bring their own personal and professional experience and beliefs. The nursing profession was built on a foundation of art and science and both must be embraced. I will be explaining my definition of the concepts of the art and the science of nursing and the aspect that drew me into the profession personally. Two TED talks will also be discussed about what I feel are their common themes and how those themes relate to nursing. The Art of Nursing The art of nursing is the compassion and care nurses put into their care daily with the major focus being the patient. It is therapeutic communication that conveys the message with respect, empathy, and understanding. It is being a strong advocate, compassionate care giver and a great listener. The art of nursing also means to be aware. Knowing when your patient needs something without them having to verbally express those needs, including both physical and emotional needs. In my daily practice, I exhibit the use of the art of nursing by genuinely caring for my patients, not only administering medications, and performing other scheduled tasks, but taking the time to get to know them. I strive to learn at least one thing about each patient I care for that has nothing to do with their illness. Taking care of a patient s emotional needs is as important as caring for their physical needs. The Science of Nursing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. How The Segmentation Task Would Be Implemented One of the most important steps towards the completion of this project was the formulation of how the segmentation task would be implemented. The segmentation strategy should be designed in such a way that it can efficiently deal with the main challenges of the dataset. Firstly, the method should be able to ignore background noise, as well as objects that are not LDL particles. Additionally, it should be able to deal with adjacent and overlapping particles. A widely used strategy[26, 4] is to face this problem as a binary classification task, with the goal of classifying each pixel that lies on the surface of the object of interest as 1 and every other pixel as 0. However, this strategy would lead to loss of spatial information about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Usually, more training data lead to a more robust network that can generalise better and as a result, make more accurate predictions. However, in some cases, it is difficult to acquire large amounts of training data, because their collection or production is either very time consuming or very expensive. In the case of the micrographs this project is dealing with, the manual annotation process is very time consuming (hence the need for the automation of this process) and this is why our dataset is limited to 41 images. However, in order to teach the neural network the desired invariance, a data augmentation strategy was followed. More specifically, left right and top down mirroring was applied to each image, which resulted in tripling the size of the original dataset. The same technique was also used on the corresponding manually created segmentation masks, resulting in a labeled dataset consisting of 123 examples. This augmentation strategy has been proved to boost the performance of convolutional networks in similar tasks [5]. Further augmentation of the dataset was initially considered by rotating the images by 90, 180 and 270 degrees, however, training the neural network on such a large dataset, turned out to be very computationally expensive, leading to very long training time and as a result this idea was abandoned. Additionally, to ensure that the memory requirements of the network during ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Analysis Of The BookThe Jungle, By Upton Sinclair Sometimes, your own actions can cause your own pain. One good example of this is The Jungle. The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, was written in 1906 and is about an immigrant family, the most important Jurgis and Ona who come to America, hoping to find freedom, liberty, and most importantly, a job, as well as Jurgis looking to marry Ona. However, they soon find out that that they are being deceived at every turn, and their lives are worse than before. It is clear that Jurgis is one of the main protagonists, and while Jurgis and his family are exploited by the bosses , Jurgis is usually the cause of his own pain, and is his own antagonist. This is unique among books, because the author doesn t usually want the reader to feel too much pity for the protagonist, but that is exactly what happens in The Jungle. The most significant ways this happens to Jurgis is by him not listening to other workers at Packingtown, when he attacked Ona s boss, and when he joined the criminal world. First, Jurgis caused his own distress by not listening to other workers. These workers had been at Packingtown far longer that Jurgis, and they knew the truth. They knew about the debt and loss that comes after working in Packingtown, and they tried to tell Jurgis his was going to come crashing down at some point. But still Jurgis did not listen. It was after his first day at work that he began to realize, with a sinking feeling, that perhaps the other workers were right, saying When he came home that night he was in a very sombre mood, having begun to see at last how those might be right who had laughed at him for his faith in America (Sinclair 72). Jurgis was beginning to see that the others were right, and yet he still didn t listen, and kept going with job. Shortly after, he gets pulled into debt and can no longer escape. Jurgis was his own enemy, taking the bait of the trap, even when everyone told him not to. Second, the most evident way Jurgis was his own antagonist was when he attacked Ona s boss. By this time, he was married to Ona, and she was very dear to him. So when her boss blackmails Ona into obeying his every command, no matter how demoralized it may be, Jurgis gets very angry, so he goes and attacks her boss. The people ... • 34. Political Philosophy and Paine Essay example Jesus Chaveste HIST 1301 Dr. Olivares September 7, 2013 Thomas Paine Questions 1. Why do you think Thomas Paine writes Common Sense anonymously? How does he think his work will be remembered? Thomas Paine wrote Common Sense anonymously because the ideas he used in writing the book were contradicting the government at that time. If the government knew that he wrote it then they will take action against him to punish him. He probably thought that his work would remain as something memorable such as it was only there to raise the spirit of the colonist to fight back and to stand up against the government. 2. What is the view of Gideon that Paine uses as an example? As the exalting one man so greatly above the rest cannot be justified on the equal rights of nature, so neither can it be defended on the authority of scripture; for the will of the Almighty (Gideon). From this quote of Gideon, we can assume Gideon s point of views. He thinks that all men are equal and no one man can be above the rest. He also thinks that only God can rule over people. 7. What does Paine think that America will gain by separating from England? According to Paine, America will gain by separating from England is that it would not get contaminated by the monarchy he has been criticizing. Then, America will gain wealth and most importantly it will gain independence. 8.Describe Thomas Paine s life and background, including where he is originally from and what his reputation was before, during, and after writing Common Sense. • 36. The Complexity of the United Nations I choose this topic to reflect more about the complexity of the UN as an organization. In this paper I want to present an overview standpoint of documents, publications, databases and websites to show the history and the different branches in the organization and raise some of the accusations behind the peacekeepers. After the First World War, people felt the necessity of an international organization with the task of maintaining global peace. After the 1st World War the League of Nations was the outcome of that feeling, but it was found that nations were unwilling to give any international authority the jurisdiction over their lands. But after the result of these selfish policies the Second World War started. At the close of this second catastrophic war, the minds of men turned again to evoke a more effective world organization, to establish peace and mutual understanding. Chapter I of the United Nations Charter lay out the purposes and principles of the United Nations organization. These principles include the equality and self determination of nations, respect of human rights and fundamental freedoms. This organization was planned at a Conference of Nations held at Dumbarton Oaks, U.S.A., and at another held a few months later at San Francisco. It was named the United Nations Organization (UNO) and was inaugurated on October 24, 1945. Now, membership has doubled since its inauguration with 192 member states. • 37. Ballerina Persuasive Speech Ballerinas Do Not Jump High Because They Are Light weighted, It Is Because They Know How to Recently an advert for the TTC had triggered protest from plus sized people: all the beautiful ballerinas doing elegant posts and jumps being slim and tall are featured in the We Move You advert, promoting the superior beauty of slimness. Many people may think that only slim people can do the ballet jumps, especially the classic one featured: the grand jeté, a split in the air. But in reality, it s not the slimness in working, it s the physics. The word, grand jeté, meaning big throw in French, is used to describe the move of the dancer throwing and hanging themselves in the air. In preparation of the jump, the dancer would run for a few steps or do a smaller jump to get their body in motion horizontally, and get their knees bent more to store energy that is used to push the whole body up, like jumping with a spring on, and take off. When the dancer s legs are off the ground, the real challenge starts. Any object off the ground, no matter how much it weighted, near the Earth surface is subjected to the constant gravitational force, which pulls the object, including the ballerina s body, down to the ground. So how does a ballerina stays in the air as if they were hanged mid air? The answer is in the split. But first, we have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
