Impact Of Airplane On Society
Airplanes fly 50,000 80,000 times each day! They also fly more than millions of times in a year!
Some people think that airplanes are meaningless flying through the sky, but airplanes have a long
history and makes society a better place. In my opinion the airplanes have the greatest impact on
society. To begin with airplanes has a long history of impacting society. The airplane was invented in
1903. In 1799 George Caley set forth of the concept for a modern airplane than later on built some
models of his own. Back in 1783 people like George worked on building airplanes but at first the
airplanes couldn t fly as the inventors wanted to but at once the very first flying airplane in 1903
finally flew by the wright brothers. For example the airplane

Sticks and Stones.
Sticks and Stones As a child, you can be so traumatized that you will never recover. The trauma can be
several different things. But parental failure, mistrust, and abuse are some of the most horrible things a
child can be exposed to. Some children are never able to let their traumas go, so they can live on with
their lives. And therefor it will keep hunting them for the rest of their existence. Questions like Why
didn t my mother belief me? , Why my? and a lot of similar questions will always be right there, right
in the back of your head. Ready to strike when you least expect it, and in that way, strike the hardest.

means to get rid of his tormentors when he goes to the Headmaster with his observations which are
concerning Paul Fray and the two Michaels. That is the primary role Paul Fray has to Lewis. In the
end Lewis is disengaging him self from his trauma. When he reaches the shoreline, he throws the

Persuasive Speech On Stuffed Animals
Some people like to enjoy or going to the mall, or conserts or football games, but not me. As one of
my fellow introverts; I prefer to quietly sit in my room, with my stuffed animals and blankets and
binge watch various tv shows for hours on end. However that is not the case in most circumstances,
there is always a huge obstacle I always have to overcome to obtain this peace it usually starts with the
troll midget (my little sister), running in and loudly exclaiming how I spend too much time in my
room.
Although it does not end there, the troubles of this world always happen to find a way to creep into my
safe haven of stuffed animals, and television. Either the constant Donald trump memes or another

in front of us and what lesson there is to be learned, and why my dad has had to suffer with this
depression for so long. Also the thought that in heaven dad wont have depression so then maybe ill be
able to experience what it may have been like to have a somewhat normal dad growing up. And God
thank you for everything, thank you for the people in my life, the bird in the trees and the fish in the

hope during the trials of life, because life stinks sometimes. Not that you made a bad world just we
humans messed it up. I wish life could be like the hundread acere woods where the worst thing to

Deafness And Other Communication Disorders Essay
According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD),
approximately 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children in the United States are born with hearing loss in one
or both ears. (Quick Statistics About Hearing, 2016) Children who have impaired hearing face a
unique set of challenges, and as with many disabilities, early intervention is vital to their success both
academically and socially.
There are a few different categories of hearing loss in young children. Damage or obstruction to the
outer or middle ear results in conductive hearing loss. This damage is usually treatable but can have an
effect upon speech development. However, if the cause of the damage is dealt with medically, any
speech problems can typically be rectified by the time the child reaches school age. Another kind of
hearing loss is called sensorineural hearing loss, and is caused by damage or trauma to the auditory
nerve or the cochlea. This kind of hearing loss is usually permanent. Hearing loss also spans a range
from mild to profound, with the most severe resulting in deafness. Deafness is defined as a condition
in which a person cannot process language and speech aurally, and typically rely upon visual means
for communication. People who experience less profound hearing loss are termed to be hard of
hearing and can often process language to some extent, often with tools such as hearing aids or
cochlear implants. (Hunt, 2012, pp. 374 377)

Meryl Alab Essay
Meryl Alab, an eight year old, has an average weight of 50 pounds and an average height at 50 inches
(CDC 2010). She is on track for a normal physical development, avoiding precocious puberty (Gade
2017a). Meryl lost her mother and younger sister to a car accident; her older brother died at birth. Her
dad is a construction worker; he is not home most of the day and had left Meryl under the care of an
apathetic babysitter in her first few years of life. At three years, old, Meryl moved in with her
grandma, who became her primary caregiver. Knowing this about to Meryl, we applied developmental
psychology theories to further understand her mental capacity, particularly in regard to her identity,
cognition, attachment, and morality. Then, we tested her to determine her current development stage
with respect to Piaget s development theory. We also took the opportunity to propose methods that can
help accelerate Meryl s life. Erik Erikson s theory on human development provides the first insight
into Meryl s identity. Erikson s theory divides the life of a person into eight stages of conflict; the
outcome in each determine a trait of the person (Sharkey 1997). In Trust vs. Mistrust, Meryl did not

The Death Penalty And The United States
The death penalty, as we know it today, didn t exist in the United States until 1976. However, the
American penal system has incorporated capital punishment since the earliest settlements were
founded in the early 1600 s. The first recorded execution in the United States occurred in 1608 in
Jamestown, Virginia when Captain George Kendall was executed just one year after the Jamestown
settlement had been established after he had been convicted of being a spy for Spain (Part I: History of
the Death Penalty). Over the next 250 years, several states moved toward abolishing capital
punishment altogether. While there has been serious push towards ending capital punishment, more
than half of state governments within the United States cling onto their right to execute criminals who
perform truly heinous crimes. While many states have maintained their Constitutional right to perform
actions outside of the realm of the Federal government, public opinion of the death penalty began to
dwindle within the United States as many of its allies emerged from World War II. The United States
and her allied nations bore witness to the devastating actions performed by Nazi Germany and the
Concentration Camps and must have therefore felt a great desire to ensure that no such actions could
be decreed by a government over its people. The landmark case for capital punishment in the United
States occurred in 1972 in Furman v. Georgia. In the case, ...prisoners were sentenced to death after

Compare And Contrast Islam And Christianity
The religions of Islam and Christianity have been widespread influencers throughout history. Both
religions share common teachings, as well as having contrasts. Their similarities include worshipping
only one god, revering the same early prophets such as Jesus, following a set of commandments,
believing in a day of judgement, and having a concept of heaven and hell. Their differences include
having different founders, the concept of sin, and the resurrection of Jesus. Islam has also given many
contributions to Western Civilization, such as science, math, medicine, and philosophy. One of Islam
and Christianity s similarities is worshipping only one god. Both faiths are monotheistic However,
their beliefs in the way in which god is expressed is different. In Christianity, god is represented
through the trinity. According to the BBC, The Bible taught that Christians were to worship Father and
Son and Holy Spirit. It also taught that Christians should only worship God. Finally, it taught that
there was only one God. In Islam, there is no concept of a trinity, and they believe in the oneness of
god, The most fundamental teaching of Islam is to believe in the Oneness of God, in the sense of His
being the only Creator, Preserver, Nourisher, etc (Why Islam 1). In both Christianity and Islam, they
revere the same early prophets. Some of these prophets include Abraham, Moses, and John the
Baptist. Both religions consider Jesus as a prophet as well, but Jesus role in the

describes the approach taken by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) to develop a
framework and indicators to measure the impact of health research. The development process included
national and international consultations. Key methodology challenges and measurement requirements

The framework and draft indicators were published on the CIHR website in January 2006. 1 Since that
time CIHR has been experimenting with populating some of the indicators. This has led to some
refinements and updates, which are included in this paper. This paper provides a brief description of
the conceptual framework and then discusses specific indicators. The discussion centres on the
potential use of each indicator, availability of data and approaches that can be used to develop data
that are not presently available. Illustrative examples for specific indicators are included, where
possible. The next section includes a brief review of methodology challenges in measuring impact.
The third section describes the CIHR framework and the last section discusses indicators chosen for
the initial years of an ongoing development process. CIHR Operating Model CIHR Institutes Human

german economy 2004-2011
Assessment: Germany 2011 Germany from 2004 until 2011, showed a positive trend with the GDP per
capita. From $29,684.33 in 2004, Germany boosted their GDP per capita up to $39,187.01 in 2011,
which is approximately a 50% increase. This shows that Germany managed to put its economy in an
upward trend, although the Eurozone was struggling with its economic growth, particularly during
2009 and 2010. Similarly, GNI per capita of Germany in 2004 was $29,938.63, yet by 2011, the GNI
per capita was $39,943.53. This again shows a positive trend overall, which shows that Germany has

Moreover, the fact that the government kept its stability of tax revenue even during 2009 and 2010
when Eurozone crisis occurred, shows that Germany s economic health was still relatively good even
when crisis occurred around Europe. We assume that the tax revenue in 2011 was about 37%, seeing
the overall trend of tax revenue. As mentioned before, this means that Germany has had a stable
economic health throughout the 7 years, considering the fact that the tax revenue has not gone up or
down by a great number. Current account balance of payments was positive value throughout the 7
years, showing that the amount of exports from Germany exceeded the amount of imports. That shows
that country is making profit overall, by exporting and importing with other countries, yet exporting
great amount, enough to keep the country earning profits. Moreover, the fact that the current account
balance of payments went up from 4.6% to 5.7% shows that the country managed to widen the
difference between the amount of exports and imports even more, to bring more profit into Germany.
Germany did a fine job in keeping the unemployment rate low. In fact, Germany managed to cut the
unemployment rate by almost a half, from 10.5% in 2004, to 5.9% in 2011. This means that there are
more jobs available in Germany now than in 2004. According to the circular flow of income, this
means that there is more money going around, prospering the

Euthyphro Approach To Divine Command Theory
The Divine Command Theory states that something is morally good because God commands or has
commanded it to be done or is morally evil because God forbids it from being done. So, saying that it
is good to love our neighbors as yourself is basically the equivalent of saying that God commands us
to love our neighbors. It is the same with saying that it is evil to commit murder because God forbids
murder. From that, immediately someone can object to Divine Command Theory by saying that good
and evil become subjective to the notion of God. If good and evil are solely based on the notion of
God, then morality is merely a will to power. Since God is mightier than any of us, all of morality
boils down to it is either His way or nothing.
The alternative to Divine Command Theory is the statement that the basis for morality lies outside of
God and His commands, rather than at the mercy of His whim. This is the approach that is referred to
as the Euthyphro Dilemma. This Euthyphro Dilemma can be stated best as a question: Is an action
morally good because God commands it, or does God command an action because it is morally good?
This question may cause someone to be tempted to abandon Divine Command Theory and instead see
morality as something external to God. By saying that God commands something because it is morally
good threatens the authority and independence of God. If an external principle, in this case the
objective view of morality, is outside of God, then God is therefore

How To Build A Traffic Jam Essay
When we start talking about traffic, the first thing that comes to our mind is road rage; however, it
would surprise you how people stay cool in this type of chaos. Gridlocks are the nightmare for any
driver. I have been driving for eight years, and I have had the opportunity to see different types of
behaviors in a traffic jam. It is surprisingly amazing how traffic jams can bring out the worst and the
best of you. Throughout my driving life, I had been stuck in heavy traffic that lasted more than four
hours, and light traffic that only lasted less than forty five minutes. However, sitting in traffic gave me
the opportunity to categorize driver s behavior such as the ass of the jungle, the monk drivers, the
snoopies and the hot head ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I totally have seen some drivers acting like a monk in traffic. The monk drivers tend not to feel
desperate, and usually they distract themselves with other activities. For example, my cousin used to
drive from Woodbridge to Alexandria when she studied at NOVA. Sometimes she used to get stuck in
rush hour traffic, and she used to read her lecture in the traffic. To be honest, I totally see that as a
smart way to spend time in traffic. Another example that shows the behavior of a monk driver is
catching up with old friends or relatives. I got stuck in a terrible traffic, and I decided to call my
grandmother. We spent two hours talking which helped me to get distracted. In hindsight it does sound
dangerous to talk on the phone while driving, but this time any car wasn t moving a bit. Also, Monk
drivers prepare a playlist before getting out from home. Listening to your favorite music can give you
a sense of tranquility. In fact, monk drivers practice a lot of equanimity, which is a mental calmness.
Overall, drivers in general should take the traffic jam with a sense of equanimity, so they can find
moments of tranquility in a chaotic traffic jam.
Moreover, we have the snoopy drivers. Being sneaky is a horrible habit that some people tend to
develop in life. As we know sneakiness is really different from curiosity. Being curious is the act to get
harmless information that can actually satisfy our knowledge. However, being sneaky is to be
interested in others

The Graveyard Book Essay
The Graveyard book, written by Neil Gaiman is a stupendously well crafted book detailing the life of
Nobody Owens, or Bod, a boy whose family has been ruthlessly slaughtered. Bod crawls to the
graveyard next to his house, where the inhabitant ghosts take him in and adopt him, where he lives
until Bod decides that he wants to live with his own kind: the living. While it is true that all books
open up worlds of literature, no book does it better than the Graveyard book of leaving you with an
utterly unforgettable experience you will never find in any other book. The Graveyard book
accomplishes this task thorough it s exhilarating, hard to put down nature, it s age appropriate writing
style, it s inspirational plotline, and lastly, it s extremely creative ideas and various concepts found
throughout the book.
A book, no matter what kind of book, always has an age range. In this case, the Graveyard book s age
range is completely open to all ages, especially our age range. While The Graveyard Book will
entertain people of all ages, it s especially a tale for children, says NYtimes book reviewer Monica

Graveyard book is derived from another book, Gaiman still manages to be at his absolute best,
creating something original from a derived plotline. The Jungle Book has many characters, problems,
resolutions, all adding up to an excellent story, but the Graveyard Book takes it to a whole new level,

Allen Ginsberg Howl Analysis Essay
The Chameleon of Poetry: A Literary Analysis of Howl by Allen Ginsberg The tones that we portray
every day change from one to the next, sort of like how a chameleon changes color depending on the
environment that they are in. I personally change my tone when handling certain situations that occur,
situations such as arguments. When in an argument with my significant other, for example, I go from
calm to angry very quickly. Words are spewed out left and right in a chaos of disagreements. My tone
however, then transitions into blame. I start to put all of the blame on my significant other, even
accusing them for the argument that just ensued. Although I get stubborn, I then change to resolution.
I do my best to resolve the situation because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ginsberg uses the key words I m with you to begin each line of Part III in a way to resolve the
madness and blame that were portrayed in parts I and II. For instance, line 106 says, I m with you in
Rockland where fifty more shocks will never return your soul to its body again from its pilgrimage to
a cross in the void, to describe the result of the madness that occurred in Part I. The phrase, where fifty
more shocks will never return your soul, refers to the shock therapy that the institution gave Ginsberg,
and perhaps Ginsberg s mother, to knock them out of their psychotic state. The line also refers to their
soul that has been lost through the influences of the government, where their bodies are robots doing
normal things rather than experiencing life itself. Ginsberg also makes remarks of the blame in Part II
stating, I m with you in Rockland where you laugh at this invisible humor, where he describes that the
blame in Part II was not as serious later down the road. Through Part III, Ginsberg resolves the drama
that was portrayed in parts I and II to show that although he is a writer, there are events in life that
should be resolved instead of holding onto them. As an individual who went through a lot of drama in
life, I understand that people need to resolve certain issues in their life. People need to resolve issues
in their life not only to give the other individual forgiveness, but also to forgive themselves for

President Salvador Allende. Pinochet led the military coup that overthrew Allende a month later. After
25 long years in power, he was put under arrest and died in 2006 in Santiago, Chile, before he could
be tried for alleged human rights violations.
MILITARY COUP OF 1973 On eleven September 1973 the combined Chilean defense force (the
military, Navy, Air force, and Carabineros) overthrew Allende s govt in a coup, during which the

United Postal Service (UPS) Flight 1354
The Accident
On August 14, 2013 United Postal Service (UPS) Flight 1354, an Airbus A300 600, crashed short of
runway 18 during a localizer non precision approach to runway 18 at Birmingham Shuttlesworth
International Airport, Birmingham, Alabama (BHM). The pilot and first officer were the only two
people on board and both were killed. The aircraft was completely destroyed by ground impact at the
post crash fire (National Transportation Safety Board [NTSB], 2014, p. 13).
There was an active notice to airman in effect at the time of the accident for BHM that stated runway
06/24, the longest runway at the airport, would be closed from 0400 0500 central daylight time (CDT).
Because the flight s scheduled arrival time was 0451, only the shorter ... Show more content on

Even though the first officer was aware that she was very tired, she did not call in and report that she
was fatigued, contrary to the UPS fatigue policy. The first officer had spoken to her husband in the
past about being tired at the end of the day, but he said that, if she was not able to, she would not fly
(NTSB, 2014, p. 15).
UPS pilots are trained on the Big Six model of CRM: communications and briefings, what if planning,
time management, teamwork and leadership, automation management, and situational awareness. UPS
presents its pilots with fatigue training during initial CRM training and subsequently in the one time
CRM flight crew factors seminar. Table 1 compares the Part 121 and 117 flight and duty time
requirements, the UPS early duty window operations policy, and the accident pilots duty periods
before the accident. Crewmembers are expected to report for duty rested and prepared for scheduled
duty periods. In addition to notifying Crew Scheduling, crewmembers who determine they cannot
perform assigned duties due to fatigue, are required to complete a Fatigue Event Report. The First
Officer had plenty of opportunities to sleep, adjust her schedule or decide not to fly but she opted not
to do remedy her situation (NTSB, 2014, p.

The American Revolution And The Enlightenment
The American Revolution brought about changes in the way the world viewed religion, science, and
government. The Enlightenment, an European movement that affected social customs and political
ideals not only in Europe, but also in America, brought these new ideas and changes to light.
Enlightenment s main goal was to seek out a better understanding of the natural world through reason.
Reason is an individual trait, and, according to Enlightenment thinkers, this justifies that power should
be help by the people. There was a desire by many colonists to form a government based off
democratic ideals with balanced powers, and these principles can be traced back to the
Enlightenment movement.
One of the most influential Enlightenment thinkers was John Locke who rejected the claim to the
Crown, and he believed that individuals held the right to revolt against a tyrannical government.
Locke argued that rebellion against the government was acceptable if that government failed to protect
the natural rights of the individual including life, liberty, and property. Locke proclaimed, Government
has no other end, but the preservation of property (Locke). Locke also believed that a strong powerful
government would use its authority to control the governed. Because of this, Locke believed the
government should be divided into different branched with a system of
2 checks and balances, allowing each branch to hold only the power needed to fulfill its given
function. Locke believed that

Dentex Case Essay
Final Assignment
Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility
ADMS 3660, Section A
Professor: Anton Petrenko
Anika Sultana
Student no 212333332
Date: 4th December 2014
The problems and issues mentioned in the case Dentex Corporation are:
1. Issue related to corporate social responsibility
2. Issue related to promotional deceiving
3. Issue related to equal opportunity in workplace
4. Issue related to employee responsibility
5. Issue related to bribery
1. Issue related to corporate social responsibility
One of the major issues mentioned in the case is about corporate social responsibility. Dentex
Corporation came up with the styling new line of car, Rento. It was considered as a rushed project,
thus they skipped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The deontological ethics states that there are things that we must do as a matter of principle regardless
of consequences (Moral standards, PowerPoint Slides). Here the Vice President, Rodford had to act on
the best interest of the company in making profit and surviving the competition against European and
Japanese cars. Therefore he ignored the fact of putting people in risk of accidents. The positive right
test assists the wellbeing of the company and its employee by making sales and profit. Whereas the
negative right test overrides the wellbeing of the customers and the community members with the risk
of death. Again since life is irreplaceable and profit can substituted by other means, the action of the
company is wrong from the deontological view too.
The policy that Dentex Corporation should follow is strict rules and regulation for the Product
Planning Committee regarding product safety. There should be more awareness raised among the
employees and management regarding the ethical responsibility towards the customers and society as
a whole.
2. Issue related to promotional deceiving
Another issue mentioned in the case is the deceptive advertising. Since the image of Rento was
hampered because of the accidents, Dentex decided to develop a manipulative marketing strategy.
Their strategy included targeting the young male crowd between the ages of 16 to 24, who can be
influenced easily. The experimental researched and focus groups showed that this

A Day in the Life of Me
A Day in the Life of Me Week 7
Introduction to Sociology SOCI111 with Dr. Tinker
Everyday I wake up and come into contact with objects and people of all nationalities, cultures and
social class, which is sociological. Objects I see or use such as clothes, music, phone or even
appliances that help me wake up (coffee of course) help me to start my day. Interestingly enough
everyday life consists of human beings interacting with one another, their ideas, and emotions, which
can be called sociology of identification. We recognize and participate sociologically with our family
at home, our peers and employers at work and students at school.
An example is the very class I am participating in right now, interacting using a set of ... Show more

Lean Manufacturing And Its Production
Lean Manufacturing
Most people wouldn t know what Lean Manufacturing was if they hadn t either learned about it or use
it at work. Lean manufacturing is a way to eliminate waste and maximize customer value. Delivering
the right product, in the right quantity, with the right quantity, at the exact time the customer needs it
and at the lowest cost possible is the main goal of lean manufacturing. With lean manufacturing you
can have benefits such as reduced lead times, improved quality, improved on time deliveries, less
inventory, less space, less human effort, lower costs, and increased profitability.
The concept of lean manufacturing was introduced in Japan, and Toyota Production System was the
first company to use it. Lean manufacturing simply follows the notion that the customer will pay for
the value of services they receive and they will not pay for the mistakes. It was stated in Challenges in
the transformation to lean production from different manufacturing process choice that for Toyota the
focal point is not to make money but to generate value for the customers; money follows
automatically if the customers are satisfied.
The lean production philosophy is currently widely applied globally in industries such as the process
industry, aerospace industry, furniture manufacturing, the textile industry, hospitals, government
agencies, and the service industries. But, there are some principles that need to be followed in order
for companies to become lean. There are

Competitiveness In America
Over the period of study, the relative strength in the Peripheral South diminished as the Republican
Party became more competitive in the Deep South. Over time, one should see both the national and
state indexes increase with the state party index lagging behind the national party index. While this is
far from definitive, it supports the findings of some scholars who say that the increase in Republican
Party competitiveness started at the national level and went to affect the competitiveness of elections
to lower level political offices. A major reason that the state score index lags behind the national index
is that the state index includes state legislative offices (and not votes as we have for the other offices
included in the MPI) which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is why I included the percentage of congressional turnout in the model. One should know from
previous research, that increases in voter turnout in the South was not confined to African Americans.
Several scholars saw an increase in white voter turnout from the early 1950s to the 1970s of about 70
percent. Voting was no longer for the populations better people, but instead became more universal.
Looking at figures 3.3 and 3.4, it is evident that there is an upward trend in the data, but that the
increase is much larger in the Deep South than in the Peripheral South. The midterm effects is present
in the data with the reduced turnout in the midterm

Process Of A Clinical Trial
Working Title: TBD
Authors: Aron Shapiro
A search on clinicaltrials.gov for the term retina yields well over 800 on going studies of alternative
systems of drug delivery, gene therapy, stem cell treatments, imaging systems, and much more. While
most retinal specialists are fully prepared to implement new techniques in the setting of a clinical trial,
these new, sometimes invasive, protocols can seem daunting and scary to patients. To recruit subjects
who will commit to a long term study, it s vital to take the time to discuss the details of the trial in
order to appropriately manage the patient s expectations.
Starting Off Right
Before the recruiting process begins, it s important for the investigator to buy in to the clinical
rationale and approach: he or she must feel confident that the proposed intervention has meaningful
potential in the treatment of the target disease. This belief can be based on preliminary studies,
biological plausibility, and presence of a true unmet need. Without the investigator s commitment in
the intervention at hand, it will be virtually impossible to recruit potential patients and come to an
agreement with the patient that enrolling in a study is the most appropriate plan of action. If the
investigator is enthusiastic about the potential of the therapy, the next step is deciding which patients
are the most suitable candidates.
The identification of ideal patients starts by matching candidates with the particular diagnosis and then

Trees In Their Eyes Were Watching God Research Paper
Trees in Their Eyes Were Watching God
To see yourself like a tree in leaf is a beautiful way to go about life, at least it is for Janie in the book
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. It centers around Janie Crawford, a Person of
Color growing up in the 1930 s. She s independent and smart and strong willed and has to learn how
to live like that in a world working against her, she struggles with finding love, first with a man she is
forced to love, then with one who give her everything, and then with one who makes her feel young.
But seeing herself as a tree, Janie grows and changes as her life does, expanding her branches. At
numerous points in the book Janie compares herself to a tree, but the author symbolizes the change
and the relationship s within the book through the use of the metaphor of wood and trees. Some
examples of this are Mr.Killicks chopping firewood, the oak tree in the centre of Eatonville, and Tea
Cakes treatment of Janie s trees.
In the beginning of the book Janie s is forced to marry Logan Killicks, a older white man that has
good land and a good house. Janie doesn t want to marry him because she doesn t love him and doesn
t believe that she will be able to grow to love him. Logan is mentioned very little in the ... Show more

needs bee s to survive. Her grandmother once told her that a healthy relationship is one where your
man kisses your face and not your feet. In Janie s case, a healthy relationship is when her man helps
her to grow and is the bee to her blossom instead of cutting off all her

Motives Behind Honor Killings
Some people believe that an individual s cultural background and family beliefs explain motives
behind honor killings. The cultural interpretation explains that honor killings are qualitatively different
from other kinds of murders because it is governed by the specific logic of an honour culture . Honor
killings are acceptable because they are part of a culture and support ethical agendas. For example, in
Turkey, namus represents sexual honor which overshadows women s physical and moral qualities.
Women are expected to protect their namus for their whole life. Male kin also have a duty to watch
over women and punish them if they deviate. The cultural defense is used to explain motivations
behind the defendants actions. Men believe

Chad Agnew Observation
On 010/05/2016, I, Chad Agnew, was working as a patrol officer for the Wichita State University
Police Department, in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. At approximately1415 hours, officers were
dispatched to the Rhatigan Student Center for a suspicious character. Dispatch notified all officers that
they were still gathering more information at the time but the suspicious character was a black male
with crutches. They also said the subject was yelling someone had a gun. I notified dispatch that
Officer Albert and I were out at the RSC. I parked our patrol car on the north side of the RSC and
entered the north door. I heard Officer Smith on the radio say he was out with the subject near the
Credit Union. I observed from across the RSC Officer J. Smith and Officer R. Faison standing next to
a black male all the way by the Book Store. As I walked closer, I could see the black male with both of
his hands up in the air and he was getting down on both of his knees. When I got to the Credit Union, I
saw a set of crutches and a black bag laying on the floor. I told Officer Albert to stay here with these
items as I continued to go behind the black male. Officer Faison kept trying to talk to the subject but
he was clearly ignoring him. The subject who was later identified as ... Show more content on

The Importance Of A New Land Unspoken Language
As stated earlier knowing the local market is important. Mr. Gaffney was quoted saying If the local
issues can t be solved we won t do business there. Since shareholder s approval is important he said, If
we can t meet shareholder expectations we won t get involved . The reason Mr. Gaffney learned that
communication is important was not only due to involvement with coworkers but with the language
barriers as well. When deciding to enter a new land unspoken language won t make business very
profitable in the new land. This reasoning is when he believed that having skilled local workers is key
when working in a foreign country. You need that individuals that can understand the rules and
regulations of the host country as well as adopt the methods of the business entering the foreign
country. An example that he used was how South America doesn t have a market in trains. If they were
to inter that market they would send teams to work with the locals to develop new technology that
would benefit the region and bring about profit. South America might not have much of a railroad
market but other countries do. Competition is an important development that BT keeps track of. It was
stated saying that you always have to adapt your business model based on competition. We then
closed out the interview with one major questions. We asked about any advice that he could give a
college graduate about how to perform well in international business. His response was something that
he felt as

Gender Challenges Within The Business Of Sports
Abstract Gender challenges in sports have been around for centuries. Male and female genders are
treated differently in more than one way. The research I have gathered show the differences in all
aspects of sports related business areas such as, ticket sales, facilities, price of tickets, media coverage,
Sports Illustrated covers, and sports reporters. The purpose of this research is to bring attention the
disparities that women follow in the business of sports. Women are stereotyped, discriminated against,
and harassed in all aspects I have discussed. So my final thoughts on my research are that women will
always be acknowledged for their beauty, body, and sex appeal. A woman s knowledge of sports,
athleticism, and love for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of this research is to bring attention to the lack of women s sports coverage in the media
and show how male sports have taken priority over women s sports. Gender Challenges in Ticket
Sales In 1994 the ticket prices for 308 different universities within the NCAA division 1 men s and
women s basketball teams were validated in a study. The study shows that men s prices started out
higher than the price of women s basketball tickets. From 1994 to 1997 both men s and women s
ticket prices increased a quarter. (p. 229) by 1997 men s basketball tickets totaled to be $9.75 and
women s tickets were $4.75. (p. 230) Analysis shows that the increase in men s tickets compared to
women s is shown through the evaluation of each athletic program.(p. 234) For example, the
University of Tennessee women s basketball program is stronger than the men s basketball program
therefore ticket sells for the UT women s basketball is going to be a higher margin than the men. The
University of Kentucky men s basketball program is stronger than the women s so the big blue fan
base would be paying a higher price to watch the wildcats play at Rupp Arena than the lady cats
playing Memorial Coliseum. The discrepancy in gender shows that the ticket prices for men tend to be
higher than women. From the study in the early 90 s to now the ticket pricing has shown more equity
in both genders athletic events. Discrimination in Olympics News Coverage The

Some people think that airplanes are meaningless flying through the sky, but airplanes have a long history and makes society a better place. In my opinion the airplanes have the greatest impact on society. To begin with airplanes has a long history of impacting society. The airplane was invented in 1903. In 1799 George Caley set forth of the concept for a modern airplane than later on built some models of his own. Back in 1783 people like George worked on building airplanes but at first the airplanes couldn t fly as the inventors wanted to but at once the very first flying airplane in 1903 finally flew by the wright brothers. But parental failure, mistrust, and abuse are some of the most horrible things a child can be exposed to. Some children are never able to let their traumas go, so they can live on with their lives. And therefor it will keep hunting them for the rest of their existence. Questions like Why didn t my mother belief me? , Why my? and a lot of similar questions will always be right there, right in the back of your head. That is the primary role Paul Fray has to Lewis. In the end Lewis is disengaging him self from his trauma. When he reaches the shoreline, he throws the pebble, one by one, back into the sea. • 6. Deafness And Other Communication Disorders Essay According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), approximately 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children in the United States are born with hearing loss in one or both ears. (Quick Statistics About Hearing, 2016) Children who have impaired hearing face a unique set of challenges, and as with many disabilities, early intervention is vital to their success both academically and socially. There are a few different categories of hearing loss in young children. Damage or obstruction to the outer or middle ear results in conductive hearing loss. This damage is usually treatable but can have an effect upon speech development. However, if the cause of the damage is dealt with medically, any speech problems can typically be rectified by the time the child reaches school age. Another kind of hearing loss is called sensorineural hearing loss, and is caused by damage or trauma to the auditory nerve or the cochlea. This kind of hearing loss is usually permanent. Hearing loss also spans a range from mild to profound, with the most severe resulting in deafness. Deafness is defined as a condition in which a person cannot process language and speech aurally, and typically rely upon visual means for communication. People who experience less profound hearing loss are termed to be hard of hearing and can often process language to some extent, often with tools such as hearing aids or cochlear implants. • 7. Meryl Alab Essay Meryl Alab, an eight year old, has an average weight of 50 pounds and an average height at 50 inches (CDC 2010). She is on track for a normal physical development, avoiding precocious puberty (Gade 2017a). Meryl lost her mother and younger sister to a car accident; her older brother died at birth. Her dad is a construction worker; he is not home most of the day and had left Meryl under the care of an apathetic babysitter in her first few years of life. At three years, old, Meryl moved in with her grandma, who became her primary caregiver. Knowing this about to Meryl, we applied developmental psychology theories to further understand her mental capacity, particularly in regard to her identity, cognition, attachment, and morality. Then, we tested her to determine her current development stage with respect to Piaget s development theory. We also took the opportunity to propose methods that can help accelerate Meryl s life. Erik Erikson s theory on human development provides the first insight into Meryl s identity. Erikson s theory divides the life of a person into eight stages of conflict; the outcome in each determine a trait of the person (Sharkey 1997). • 8. The Death Penalty And The United States The death penalty, as we know it today, didn t exist in the United States until 1976. However, the American penal system has incorporated capital punishment since the earliest settlements were founded in the early 1600 s. The first recorded execution in the United States occurred in 1608 in Jamestown, Virginia when Captain George Kendall was executed just one year after the Jamestown settlement had been established after he had been convicted of being a spy for Spain (Part I: History of the Death Penalty). Over the next 250 years, several states moved toward abolishing capital punishment altogether. While there has been serious push towards ending capital punishment, more than half of state governments within the United States cling onto their right to execute criminals who perform truly heinous crimes. While many states have maintained their Constitutional right to perform actions outside of the realm of the Federal government, public opinion of the death penalty began to dwindle within the United States as many of its allies emerged from World War II. The United States and her allied nations bore witness to the devastating actions performed by Nazi Germany and the Concentration Camps and must have therefore felt a great desire to ensure that no such actions could be decreed by a government over its people. The landmark case for capital punishment in the United States occurred in 1972 in Furman v. Georgia. In the case, ...prisoners were sentenced to death after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Compare And Contrast Islam And Christianity The religions of Islam and Christianity have been widespread influencers throughout history. Both religions share common teachings, as well as having contrasts. Their similarities include worshipping only one god, revering the same early prophets such as Jesus, following a set of commandments, believing in a day of judgement, and having a concept of heaven and hell. Their differences include having different founders, the concept of sin, and the resurrection of Jesus. Islam has also given many contributions to Western Civilization, such as science, math, medicine, and philosophy. One of Islam and Christianity s similarities is worshipping only one god. Both faiths are monotheistic However, their beliefs in the way in which god is expressed is different. In Christianity, god is represented through the trinity. According to the BBC, The Bible taught that Christians were to worship Father and Son and Holy Spirit. It also taught that Christians should only worship God. Finally, it taught that there was only one God. In Islam, there is no concept of a trinity, and they believe in the oneness of god, The most fundamental teaching of Islam is to believe in the Oneness of God, in the sense of His being the only Creator, Preserver, Nourisher, etc (Why Islam 1). In both Christianity and Islam, they revere the same early prophets. Some of these prophets include Abraham, Moses, and John the Baptist. • 12. german economy 2004-2011 Assessment: Germany 2011 Germany from 2004 until 2011, showed a positive trend with the GDP per capita. From $29,684.33 in 2004, Germany boosted their GDP per capita up to $39,187.01 in 2011, which is approximately a 50% increase. This shows that Germany managed to put its economy in an upward trend, although the Eurozone was struggling with its economic growth, particularly during 2009 and 2010. Similarly, GNI per capita of Germany in 2004 was $29,938.63, yet by 2011, the GNI per capita was $39,943.53. This again shows a positive trend overall, which shows that Germany has been growing gradually as years passed with its economy. Moreover, the fact that the government kept its stability of tax revenue even during 2009 and 2010 when Eurozone crisis occurred, shows that Germany s economic health was still relatively good even when crisis occurred around Europe. We assume that the tax revenue in 2011 was about 37%, seeing the overall trend of tax revenue. As mentioned before, this means that Germany has had a stable economic health throughout the 7 years, considering the fact that the tax revenue has not gone up or down by a great number. Current account balance of payments was positive value throughout the 7 years, showing that the amount of exports from Germany exceeded the amount of imports. That shows that country is making profit overall, by exporting and importing with other countries, yet exporting great amount, enough to keep the country earning profits. Moreover, the fact that the current account balance of payments went up from 4.6% to 5.7% shows that the country managed to widen the difference between the amount of exports and imports even more, to bring more profit into Germany. Germany did a fine job in keeping the unemployment rate low. In fact, Germany managed to cut the unemployment rate by almost a half, from 10.5% in 2004, to 5.9% in 2011. This means that there are more jobs available in Germany now than in 2004. According to the circular flow of income, this means that there is more money going around, prospering the ... • 13. Euthyphro Approach To Divine Command Theory The Divine Command Theory states that something is morally good because God commands or has commanded it to be done or is morally evil because God forbids it from being done. So, saying that it is good to love our neighbors as yourself is basically the equivalent of saying that God commands us to love our neighbors. It is the same with saying that it is evil to commit murder because God forbids murder. From that, immediately someone can object to Divine Command Theory by saying that good and evil become subjective to the notion of God. If good and evil are solely based on the notion of God, then morality is merely a will to power. Since God is mightier than any of us, all of morality boils down to it is either His way or nothing. The alternative to Divine Command Theory is the statement that the basis for morality lies outside of God and His commands, rather than at the mercy of His whim. This is the approach that is referred to as the Euthyphro Dilemma. This Euthyphro Dilemma can be stated best as a question: Is an action morally good because God commands it, or does God command an action because it is morally good? This question may cause someone to be tempted to abandon Divine Command Theory and instead see morality as something external to God. By saying that God commands something because it is morally good threatens the authority and independence of God. • 15. How To Build A Traffic Jam Essay When we start talking about traffic, the first thing that comes to our mind is road rage; however, it would surprise you how people stay cool in this type of chaos. Gridlocks are the nightmare for any driver. I have been driving for eight years, and I have had the opportunity to see different types of behaviors in a traffic jam. It is surprisingly amazing how traffic jams can bring out the worst and the best of you. Throughout my driving life, I had been stuck in heavy traffic that lasted more than four hours, and light traffic that only lasted less than forty five minutes. However, sitting in traffic gave me the opportunity to categorize driver s behavior such as the ass of the jungle, the monk drivers, the snoopies and the hot head ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I totally have seen some drivers acting like a monk in traffic. The monk drivers tend not to feel desperate, and usually they distract themselves with other activities. For example, my cousin used to drive from Woodbridge to Alexandria when she studied at NOVA. Sometimes she used to get stuck in rush hour traffic, and she used to read her lecture in the traffic. To be honest, I totally see that as a smart way to spend time in traffic. Another example that shows the behavior of a monk driver is catching up with old friends or relatives. I got stuck in a terrible traffic, and I decided to call my grandmother. We spent two hours talking which helped me to get distracted. In hindsight it does sound dangerous to talk on the phone while driving, but this time any car wasn t moving a bit. Also, Monk drivers prepare a playlist before getting out from home. Listening to your favorite music can give you a sense of tranquility. In fact, monk drivers practice a lot of equanimity, which is a mental calmness. Overall, drivers in general should take the traffic jam with a sense of equanimity, so they can find moments of tranquility in a chaotic traffic jam. Moreover, we have the snoopy drivers. Allen Ginsberg Howl Analysis Essay The Chameleon of Poetry: A Literary Analysis of Howl by Allen Ginsberg The tones that we portray every day change from one to the next, sort of like how a chameleon changes color depending on the environment that they are in. When in an argument with my significant other, for example, I go from calm to angry very quickly. Words are spewed out left and right in a chaos of disagreements. For instance, line 106 says, I m with you in Rockland where fifty more shocks will never return your soul to its body again from its pilgrimage to a cross in the void, to describe the result of the madness that occurred in Part I. The phrase, where fifty more shocks will never return your soul, refers to the shock therapy that the institution gave Ginsberg, and perhaps Ginsberg s mother, to knock them out of their psychotic state. The line also refers to their soul that has been lost through the influences of the government, where their bodies are robots doing normal things rather than experiencing life itself. Ginsberg also makes remarks of the blame in Part II stating, I m with you in Rockland where you laugh at this invisible humor, where he describes that the blame in Part II was not as serious later down the road. Through Part III, Ginsberg resolves the drama that was portrayed in parts I and II to show that although he is a writer, there are events in life that should be resolved instead of holding onto them. The Enlightenment, an European movement that affected social customs and political ideals not only in Europe, but also in America, brought these new ideas and changes to light. Enlightenment s main goal was to seek out a better understanding of the natural world through reason. Reason is an individual trait, and, according to Enlightenment thinkers, this justifies that power should be help by the people. There was a desire by many colonists to form a government based off democratic ideals with balanced powers, and these principles can be traced back to the Enlightenment movement. One of the most influential Enlightenment thinkers was John Locke who rejected the claim to the Crown, and he believed that individuals held the right to revolt against a tyrannical government. Locke argued that rebellion against the government was acceptable if that government failed to protect the natural rights of the individual including life, liberty, and property. Locke proclaimed, Government has no other end, but the preservation of property (Locke). Locke also believed that a strong powerful government would use its authority to control the governed. Process Of A Clinical Trial Working Title: TBD Authors: Aron Shapiro A search on clinicaltrials.gov for the term retina yields well over 800 on going studies of alternative systems of drug delivery, gene therapy, stem cell treatments, imaging systems, and much more. While most retinal specialists are fully prepared to implement new techniques in the setting of a clinical trial, these new, sometimes invasive, protocols can seem daunting and scary to patients. To recruit subjects who will commit to a long term study, it s vital to take the time to discuss the details of the trial in order to appropriately manage the patient s expectations. Starting Off Right Before the recruiting process begins, it s important for the investigator to buy in to the clinical rationale and approach: he or she must feel confident that the proposed intervention has meaningful potential in the treatment of the target disease. This belief can be based on preliminary studies, biological plausibility, and presence of a true unmet need. Without the investigator s commitment in the intervention at hand, it will be virtually impossible to recruit potential patients and come to an agreement with the patient that enrolling in a study is the most appropriate plan of action. If the investigator is enthusiastic about the potential of the therapy, the next step is deciding which patients are the most suitable candidates. The reason Mr. Gaffney learned that communication is important was not only due to involvement with coworkers but with the language barriers as well.
