Moscow Kremlin
Where the Two Rivers Meet One of Russia s diversities of Kremlins, the Moscow Kremlin is a
fortified complex at the heart of Moscow, standing erect and vast within the fork of the rivers,Neglina,
and Moskva. As early as 1147, the Kremlin had begun its glorious construction. Although it was not
all together majestic at the time, over the formative years, the Moscow Kremlin continued to populate
and expand until it became known as one of the greatest structures ever raised in Russia.
Where the two rivers, Neglinnaya and Moscow, meet in Russia, in the year 1147, a wooden fort was
erected by Yuri Dolgoruky, the Grand Duke of Kiev, as a center of high traffic and trade. As people
flocked in at a rapid pace, the fort grew to an abundance of new life and intensity. Becoming highly
populated, a town had sprung where the business of the traders grew abundant. They brought wealth
and treasures, foreign foods and valuables from far off. Need of a healthier fortification was instore.

This called for further renewing on behalf of the stone buildings. Ivan the Great who was ruler of the
age, requested the major alteration of the Moscow Kremlin. Remodeled to the core, the Kremlin was
transformed into the most magnificent structure in Russia and the pride of Moscow. While the city
lengthened its borders beyond the Kremlin, the glorious Cathedrals of the Assumption, the
Annunciation, and the Archangel were fashioned within its walls. The Russian Terem Palace was
erected as the royal residence of the Russian ruler who lived in this Capital city. Furthermore, the Ivan
the Great Bell Tower stood tall in Sobornaya Square, marking the wealth of the Kremlin. After Ivan
the Great s death, his descendants continued to modernize the Kremlin by refurbishing spires and
amending towers. The Russian Capital had developed from walls of wood, to spires of

Tetanospasmin Research Paper
1. The deadliest neurotoxin I can find on the web is Tetanospasmin (other than botulinum which I
already have learned about). I believe this is the deadliest toxin because it says that an ant weighs
1500 times more than the dose needed to kill an adult human. Two hundred nanograms is considered
lethal, and that is a VERY small number. Tetanospasmin causes muscle spasms when it is found inside
the body within the nervous system and it is produced by a bacterium called Clostridium Tetani. The
reason it is deadly is because it binds to neurons permanently, and when it is bound it stops the
neurotransmitters from being released from the neuron. A dose of Tetanospasmin is able to stop a
neuron from releasing a neurotransmitter because it damages

The Organizational Structure And Performance
Operant conditioning
Learning occurs from a consequence of the behavior leading to operant conditioning. The major
consideration is in influence of workers behavior through reinforcing important principles. Motivation
is an internal cause of behavior that leads to satisfaction as an external cause (Walle, 2009). This is
after a positive consequence following an organizational performance or production. Positive
reinforcement covers anything that increases strength and response and includes thing such as
bonuses, raises and promotion and more importantly encouragement or praise. The essence of having
reinforcement helps in measuring modifications of behavioral that takes place.
Organizations structures have an effect employee satisfaction hence production and performance.
Despite this, the relationship between the structure and performance are experienced through different
channels in work place (Edmans, Li, Zhang, 2014). This leads to evaluate through the organizational
structure to performance of the firm through satisfaction of employees. The interests are connected to
evaluation of problems of firms through the staffs and finally the performance results. In this study, it
helps in identification of current problems that firms are facing in reflection of the structural
organization. Involvement of the staffs in various aspects, introduces the motivational approach
structure through which problems are solved. The influence of organization structure to the

Embalming In American Culture
The term embalming is a familiar one in today s society; however, many people are unaware of what
happens during its process. Depending upon the family s wishes, a body may or may not be
embalmed. Culture can also play a part in making that decision. Embalming is a simple process with
rich history that does wonders for a body and families.
The history of embalming goes all the way back to the Civil War. Those who were left needed an
efficient way to take care of the fallen bodies. Dr. Thomas Holmes was the first person to practice the
French s embalming techniques in America. Since families wanted to bring their loved ones bodies
home, this preservation tactic proved worthy. Eventually, many soldiers pre paid to be embalmed in
the course ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some families want to see their loved one for the last time as if they are sleeping. Embalming makes
this possible. The chemicals give the skin a natural color, along with makeup and other fixings
(Godfrey). For many families, this last memory of their loved one is very important (Embalming).
In rare circumstances, various cultures do not embalm the dead. Islamic and Jewish cultures refuse to
embalm the deceased. It is seen as disrespectful to the body. Bodies are buried within 24 48 hours of
their deaths. Hindus do not bury the dead at all; rather, they are burned. Catholicism requires that a
body is buried as soon as arrangements are made. Due to these speedy burials and requirements,
embalming is not necessary here. In fact, embalming is looked down upon in these cultures (Gray).
Despite common beliefs, embalming is a short process. There are two main parts: internal and
external. First, the blood and other bodily fluids are replaced with embalming fluid. To do this, a small
incision is made to the neck and the two veins are brought up. The body cavity is punctured and cured
as well. Once the inside of the body is completely embalmed, the focus returns to the external parts.
The jaw is shut, the eyes are fixed, and any work to rebuild the face is done. Then makeup is applied.
The hair styling is left up to the cosmetologist in most cases (The Embalming

Human Cloning
Ethical Concerns on Human Cloning Human cloning, one of the most fascinating chapters in scientific
history. Cloning goes back to the first mammal that was successfully cloned, Dolly the sheep. Dolly
was duplicated on July 5, 1996 and since then the world has had many scientific advancements. Abby
Norman, author of How Close Are We to Successfully Cloning our First Human said that other types
of mammals such as goats, rats, pigs, mice, and rabbits have been cloned successfully but cloning
other mammals and primates may not be so easy. Scientists are not yet able to successfully clone a
human, but believe they will be able to do so by the 2020s. (Norman) Along with such a controversial
topic there comes many who would agree that copying a human would be beneficial while on the
opposing side some would argue that replicating someone s genes is ethically wrong. Cloning is a very
important topic and according to the President s Council on Bioethics, The prospect of cloning to
produce children, which would be a radically new form of procreation, raises deep concerns about
identity and individuality, the meaning of having children, the difference between procreation and
manufacture, and the relationship between the generations ( Human Cloning and Human Dignity: An
Ethical Inquiry , 2017). Although useful for studying genetic diseases, human cloning produces issues
as to whether it should be allowed or not because some believe the copy will have the same

Microsoft Essay
Microsoft
There have been many arguments and issues that have been raised with the controversy over
Microsoft and the U.S. Department of Justice s claim against Microsoft and its founder Bill Gates of
monopolistic practices in bundling its internet browser Internet Explorer into its popular Windows
computer operating system. By doing this, Microsoft would effectively crush its competitors (it s main
rival being Netscape Navigator), and acquire a monopoly over the software that people use to access
the Internet.
I recently heard a listener on NPR (National Public Radio) comment about the monopoly issue
between Microsoft and the U.S. D.O.J. that Intellectual endeavors are vastly infinite and thus cannot
be monopolized. I wonder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many corridors and keys that allow someone to gain access to the Internet. The real question
here is whether Microsoft is seeking to widen it s doors at the expense of others and at the same time
seeking gatekeeper access to the Internet by seeking to obtain the only key that allows access to the
Internet. A metaphor of this problem can be explained through a library building that has many
entrances in which to reach the knowledge of books contained within. Is Microsoft seeking to close
off the other entrances of other providers so that the only access is through its entrance? It would be
very tempting to say yes, but that would be wholly unfair. Now that the problem and issue which is
presented to us is clear, an examination of whether or not Microsoft is violating any anti trust (anti
monopolistic) laws can now proceed. Before he installed Windows 95, John Dodge connected to the
Internet using software from a Microsoft competitor, CompuServe s Internet in a Box. Not anymore.
Windows 95 silently disabled a key piece of his setup and made it too difficult for him to reinstall it.
Dodge was not a novice. He is senior executive editor of the trade journal PC Week and so had access
to the highest level support engineers. Even software professionals learn to take the path of least
resistance, in this case, the path leading to Microsoft. He has become a

Convergence And Comparability Of Financial Reporting
1. Introduction
It has been argued over years that Convergence of financial reporting is possibly one of the most
important and controversial topics in accounting and corporate governance across countries, of which
I could not wholly agree them. The Issue of the convergence of the National Accounting Standards
with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) among policy makers, standard setters,
regulators, professional bodies, and companies worldwide has peaked up and widely been discussed
lately. (Yu Chen Zabihollah R 2012)
Convergence has become increasingly critical across nations in accounting mainly due to the global
economy and need of international capital market. In the light of that, a demand arose for
standardization of financial reporting in order to enable users of accounting reports among different
countries to read, understand appropriately and being in a position of analyzing financial statements
came from different countries. However, the paper argues that the link between convergence and
comparability of financial reporting is to be questioned when it comes to different countries such as
China.
There are both strong opponents and proponents of convergence. The proponents of convergence point
out that the benefits of global financial reporting bring up the greater comparability of financial
information for investors (PricewaterhouseCoopers, 2007) and the strengthening of investors
confidence.
The opponents claimed that the limitations of

Essay on Hairstyle and Job
Being a hairstylist, it is all about the skills: The artistic skills, the communication skills, also, the skill
to be patient and respectful. Some people have a difficult time trying to obtain all of these skills.
Hairstylists have a tough job. No one really understands what the stylist goes through. The pressure to
get things right and to make the client happy is a complicated situation. The job of a hairstylist is to
create, develop, and enhance client s personal appearance. However, it is not all about beauty, you
have to be able to interact good with the costumers. Being a hairdresser, your job is to shampoo, cut,

But there will always be that one hairdresser that is perfect for you. That will help choose a hairstyle
for you and that will be communicative. In this career field, as a hairstylist, you do not make much
money. The money you make, plus tips, is $11.13. Which means that annual your wage in this career
is $23.140. Now this is not a lot of money, but for someone who loves their job it will work just fine.
However, there is another way that you can go and you might make more money; is if you rent your
chair from the salon. This way you get what you make on every hairstyle. But the downfall is that you
have to buy all of your own products and tools. Which, I think renting your own chair is the way to
go, because than all you have to pay for is your chair nothing else and you get all the money you
make. When you have a family and so many bills to pay, this is not enough money to live off of.
However, it will do if the husband has a job as well. Hairstylist is a job that will never have a dull
moment. You learn something new every day. This is a career I would enjoy doing every day. You get
to meet so many new people and help them with so many different things. Even though the money isn

William Shakespeare s World Masterpieces
Today each person has their own story to be told. All of us come from different backgrounds and have
circumstances we are living through. Each of has different type of person we wish to rely on. As a
result of this there are no set standards as to whom we are to date and even marry and why. Instead, it
s a matter of whom each person chooses. Miguel De Cervantes, understood this at a time, the 1600 s,
where this idea of love was not normal. Back then to marry for love was considered foolish.
Traditionally 16th century love was depicted as Chivalry Romance. This means that it was to be
arranged marriages between those of equal status or class as the norm. Back then love was seen as a
perfect and pure concept. Cervantes did not agree with this and challenged and mocked it in his
writings. As stated by Maynard Mack in his book, World Masterpieces, The actual method [Cervantes]
followed in order to expose the silliness of the romances of chivalry was to show to what
extraordinary consequences they would lead a man insanely infatuated in them.. . Due to this type of
thinking, Cervantes in his novel, Don Quixote, portrays love in a nontraditional way, as a mysterious
force that draws lovers together. Many of the tales of courtship told in Don Quixote are driven by the
force of love. The tale of Quiteria and Basilio is a great example of this. In this tale, Basilio and
Quiteria are next door neighbors in the same village. Basilio falls in love with Quiteria at

Examples Of Unsung Heroes Of American Revolution
American Revolution: Unsung Heroes of Independence We hold these truths to be self evident: that all
men and women are created equal. (Elizabeth Cady Stanton, 1848). During the American Revolution,
America went from being an extension of Britain (and a source of revenue when needed) to an
independent nation built upon the grecian idea of democracy. When people hear the names George
Washington, Benjamin Franklin, or Thomas Jefferson, they easily connect them to the capable leaders
and revolutionary heroes who made great contributions during America s delicate infancy. These men,
along with countless others, fought for the end of the monopolization Britain held over the colonies
and undyingly laid down their lives for the pursuit of freedom. However, do the names Deborah
Sampson, Peter Salem, or Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben ring a bell? Women, people of color, and
Europeans from all different walks of life were also swept up in the war for independence. The war
did not feature people of one gender, race, or nationality. These individuals were in the flesh for all of

Differences Of God s Desires In Genesis And The Book Of...
In the Book of Genesis and the Book of Jonah, God reveals His desires for His people and expects
obedience. These desires involve fulfilling His plan which includes, living in community, behaving
peacefully, obeying and respecting Him, and repenting of sins. God makes His desires known, and in
turn, His people obey and disobey these desires. More specifically, examples of this arise in the stories
pertaining to Adam and Eve, Noah, Cain and Abel, and Jonah and the people of Nineveh. Noah as
well as Jonah and the people of Nineveh show numerous examples of acting on God s plans and
desires in a positive way, while the other examples contrast this and provide instances where God s
desires are not followed. Although there are those who choose not to follow His desires, the instances
where His desires are followed hold the utmost focus and importance because they represent God s
plan coming to fruition through His creation. Beginning with the Book of Genesis, as God has
completed His creation, He explains what He desires for the people that will reside on it and how he
wants them to fulfill His creation. He explains, Let us make humankind in our image, according to our
likeness (Gen. 1:26). These words from God present the idea that He wants to be one with His people
and that He wants them to be alike to Him. However, His people will go on to show that while they
are created in His image and likeness, they exhibit flaws and behaviors that are not associated with
God. Another

Port Of Long Beach Essay
The Port of Long Beach was founded on June 24, 1911, a wild dream of 800 acres of mudflats at the
mouth of the Los Angeles River. In the nine decades since then, those grand ambitions have been
realized as the port expanded to include more than 7,600 acres of state of the art cargo terminals,
roadways, rail yards and shipping channels.

CAFO In Alabama
Alabama is a leader in the United States of America in agriculture. According to Alabama Agri culture
Statistics supplied by the United States Department of Agriculture, Alabama was ranked 3rd in broiler
production, 2nd in catfish sales and 14th in egg production in 2011. Although the number of farms has
drastically dropped from about 225,000 farms spanning over 22 million acres in 1950 to 50,000 farms
spanning 7.5 million acres in 2010, Alabama still remains a leader in the field of agriculture.
Nationally and locally the drastic decrease can be traced to the installa tion and expansion of CAFOs.
Defined by the EPA, a CAFO is an agricultural operation where animals are kept and raised in
confined situations (EPA 12). In order to be qualified ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This treatment of animal waste is dangerous and could lead to serious consequences. For example, the
organoarsenicals in fertilizer are consumed by poultry, high levels of arsenic are found in the tissue of
animals, and then poultry waste is used as a fertilizer. The incineration causes arsenic to be released
into the air, this is an issue for communities surrounding the area. This constant entrance of
organoarsenicals into the environ ment causes a risk for soil and groundwater becomes of less quality.
In the United States 61% of farmers sell litter based fertilizers and 23% use their own animal waste as
soil fertilizer (Kiranma yi). The use of animal waste as fertilizer is a positively impactful option for the
environment when treated with care and managed properly. It is easier to manage on small farms as
the farm ers can simply move their animals around the acreage spreading the waste equally. This
technique keeps the waste light on one spot allowing it to not overwhelm the soil. However, it is also
crucial to consider the chemicals inside the waste, and currently it is not cost effective for large scale
farmers or CAFOs to use environmentally friendly fertilizers and animal feed. Farmers also put
antibiotics into their animals to speed up growth, these antibiotics contribute to the waste prob lem

The Development Of Artificial Intelligence In Frankenstein...
The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has progressed through today s modern society and is
becoming more prevalent. AI is a manmade program with processes which retrieve information to
adjust the program to better fit the user. Historically, American society s image of AI has developed
using literary works and the film industry in order for most people to get an exaggerated explanation
of AI. For example, in Mary Shelly s Frankenstein, Doctor Victor Frankenstein creates a monster that
becomes increasingly capable of feelings and develops by learning from others. The novel itself has
been interpreted multiple times, yet this monster is still considered as AI due to the monster learning
information to become a more humanlike being. Mary Shelly s novel is one literary piece that has
slowly developed the image of AI in society. Today, technology is becoming more advanced as
independent companies are creating and developing their new, unique ideas. Automobile companies,
such as The Ford Motor Company, are currently in the process of creating self driving vehicles,
implementing AI into cars. These cars are becoming more developed and advertised within American
communities, and the cars are the topic of debate within the scientific and ethical based philosophical
communities. As society continues to develop AI, humans are becoming more obsolete. When people
become more obsolete, they become unable to contribute to society due to the lack of activity. This is

using a clinically clean technique rather than the Aseptic Non Touch Technique as I had thought. As I
had used the same gloves to remove the dirty dressings from the leg ulcer and then apply new sterile
dressings I had not maintained the Aseptic Non Touch Technique. The Nurse informed me that this

and dressings and equipment used were sterile. Whilst carrying out the procedure I felt confident with
my practice of the dressing change using the Aseptic technique. Although I was slightly nervous and

practice within this area. The Lincolnshire Community Health Service (LCHS)

set in December 1941 in Casablanca, French Morocco. It is a time of escalating power of the Nazi

were desperate to flee their homes. Because Casablanca was not yet taken over by the Germans due to

While music is essential to many scenes in the film, the absence of music in some scenes is powerful.
The scenes that are not accompanied by music, are ones in which important information is being
exchanged between characters and being revealed to the audience. In some scenes the information is
historical and in some it is vital to the plot. In one scene that does not include music the man who

Comparing Cummings The Enormous Room And Hemingway s
In The Autobiography of Alice B Toklas, Gertrude Stein mentions many artists and writers that she
had a relationship with. From artists like Picasso and Cézanne to writers like Hemingway and E.E
Cummings, Stein had a large yet interesting group of friends and even more interesting things to say
about them. She speaks the fondest of the people like Picasso who she likes best and does not say
much about other artists like Cézanne who she is not very fond of. E.E Cummings Book The
Enormous Room is not only original and interesting like Stein states, but it can be used to better
understand Steins The AutoBiography of Alice B. Toklas. In the last chapter of The Autobiography of

Cummings and Stein have more similarities than one thinks, for example, their writing styles are both
difficult to understand when first reading but they are both effective in conveying their message
whether their ways are unconventional or not. It is evident that Cummings background in poetry
influenced the prose style of his writing. For example chapter, two begins with I put the bed roll down.
I stood up. I was myself. (page 62). Not only does this resemble poetry because of the imagery
portrayed by just these few words but it also effectively conveys his message. They are also similar in
their writing styles because they both use portraits to portray the people that surround them. While
Cummings focuses on describing their physical appearance to paint a picture of both the characters
mental and physical state, stein uses the painters and writers work as well as their physical appearance
to paint this picture. Reading Cummings novel made it easier to understand Steins writing style
because they are both similar in the sense that they are both breaking the mold by using
unconventional punctuation and syntax. It also makes the reader appreciate it for its uniqueness and in
a way it is like art because she and Cummings both reject the traditional autobiography format and
make their writing their own. Stein uses Alice B. Toklas as her voice and Cummings uses his narrator
who he calls C. I also understand better why Stein chose a different voice to write this piece that can
be considered her autobiography just as much as it can be considered Toklas . It is because it give a
different kind of authority to this writing and makes it seem less

achieving economic well being
These are now considered the right of every child and are all more achievable if you have a positive

Essay Fucus Sprial Research on Water
Coal is found in deeper layers of earth. To retrieve coal from those layers, underground tunnels need to
build. These underground tunnels tend to fill with ground water. To prevent this, steam pumps were
installed to keep the tunnels dry. The groundwater pumped out of the mines is comparatively clean
(Wilkinson 2011, 3).
Once the steam pump is shut off, the underground water is able to fill up the abandoned mine over
years. After all tunnels are filled up, the water finds a way to release itself. This is called natural
drainage water (Wilkinson 2011, 3). In case of the project, this happens through the outfall which is
right above high water spring tide. The water that is released through the outfall is not as clean as the

During spring tide, the tidal amplitude is very large.
The opposite is called neap tide and occurs when sun and moon are at right angles. The gravitational
attractions act in opposition and the tidal amplitude is very low.
7.4 Rocky shore
These shores were shaped by different natural forces. Those forces include the rise and fall of tides,
wind, intensity of waves and variation in temperature. They consist of rocky ledges, boulders and
pebbles. Furthermore, pools with seawater can be found.
Rocky shores can be divided into different zones, according to vertical height. The zones vary in
diversity (see Fig. 6) and most species are adapted to a specific zone (Little 2009, 17).
The top of the shore is bare rock and living organisms such as littorinid snails or lichens can be found
there. This zone is called splash zone as it above high tide mark and therefore perpetually out of water
(Little 2009, 18).
The second zone is called littoral zone (or intertidal) and has its boundaries defined as distance
between very highest and very lowest spring tide. The lower, middle and upper shore are included into
this zone and there is a varying degree of exposure to seawater, depending on the tide. Organisms
living there must be able to cope with fluctuating air and breaking waves. Rock pools and Fucus
spiralis are found in this part of the rocky shore (Little 2009, 18).
The lowest zone is the so called sublittorial zone and

The Court Of India, While Administering Environmental...
The Court of India, while administering environmental justice, has evolved certain principles and
doctrines within and at times outside the framework of the existing environmental law. Environmental
principles, such as polluter pays principle, precautionary principle and public trust doctrine have been
adopted by the Court in its concern to protect the environment from further degradation and improve
the same. It is important to note that these principles have been developed in various international
agreements and conferences to control and prevent further environmental degradation. Drawing
inference from international environmental principles, the Court of India has applied various
principles to resolve domestic environmental problems. For example, the Polluter Pays Principle was
invoked by the Court of India in the Indian Council for Enviro Legal Action v. Union of India. Giving
the judgment, the Judges held that we are of the opinion that any principle evolved in this behalf
should be simple, practical and suited to the conditions obtaining in this country. Once the activity
carried on is hazardous or inherently dangerous, the polluter carrying on such activity is liable to make
good the loss caused to any other affected party by polluter s activity irrespective of the fact whether
the polluter took reasonable care while carrying on his activity . In this case, the Court has stated that

The Iadb Will Be Post Colonialism And Liberal...
Sinister Intentions? A Theoretical Review The two theories that will be contrasted against the work of
the IADB will be post colonialism and liberal institutionalism. Post colonialism makes a strong
argument for the ability of the bank to abuse the developing countries of Latin America, as well as
predicting the very real examples of abuse from the bank on indigenous communities in the region.
Liberal institutionalism explains how the IADB promotes the interests of all involved and actually
helps the region facilitate further onnections with other international institutions. Post colonialism
views development banks such as the IADB as errant organisations imposing the will of wealthy, non
borrowing countries in the form of conditional funds. In academic literature as well as general public
perception, the World Bank and other multilateral development banks (MBDs) have long been viewed
as domineering organizations able to impose themselves upon developing countries, (humphrey)
which is the viewpoint that actually inspired the creation of the IADB. The IADB seems to subvert
this colonising attitude by having the majority of its decision making votes held by borrowing
countries and thus all impositions by the organisation are at the behest and in the interest of the region
itself. The entire culture of the IADB seems to be very pro Latin American policies, through consistent
presidency held by Latin American nationals (in order since its creation, presidents have been from

In the poem, Beowulf, the main character acknowledges God as his guardian. Beowulf in the poem

The defeat of Grendal s mother and the conquering of her land, gave Beowulf another challenge, the
dragon. Beowulf mission ahead was to face the dragon. On page 64 it states: By this there went inside

treasure. The dragon did not afterwards conceal it though in his sleep he was tricked by the craft of the

quote showed a man who lived in the village stealing a golden cup with gold coins in it from the
dragon. The dragon discovered the cup was stolen and terrorized and killed the people within the city.
Beowulf aware he was an older man knew there was a possibility that he could die in battle. He was
also aware he had to defend his city from the dragon. The dragon however, was able to get the upper
hand, and burned down Beowulf s house. Beowulf at this point did not hesitation to challenge the

The Allegorical Messages of The Divine Comedy by Dante...
The beginning lines of The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri indicate a pragmatic journey through
the dark woods. It is soon evident that The Divine Comedy is in terms of an allegory. Midway through
his life, Dante finds himself lost and in darkness. He is confused and unaware of how he has ended up
in these dark woods. Dante soon comes across Italian poet Virgil, who will guide him through the
Nine Circles of Hell. Dante Alighieri s The Divine Comedy: Inferno portrays Dante s life and
adventure through Hell which allegorically represents a much broader subject: man s journey through
life to salvation.
The Divine Comedy: Inferno begins when Dante is midway through life and he has lost his way. In the
starting lines, Dante claims, Midway in our life s journey, I went astray From the straight road and
woke To find myself Alone in a dark wood. Dante declares that he has strayed away from the straight
road. In Dante s allegory, the straight road symbolizes the right and virtuous path that leads to God.
Mankind must be constantly seeking morality, and once man begins to lose sight of this righteousness,
they will begin to abandon God s honest path. In order to remain on the right path, man must carefully
strive for virtue and be aware of their sins.
Not knowing how he wandered away from the straight road, Dante finds himself in an eerie, dark
wood. In Dante s Inferno, this dark wood allegorically resembles the people of mankind who are not
consciously aware of

New Moon Reflection
New Moon obviously lacks a base in a real story. It has vampires, werewolves, and all that nonsense
however that gives no decent excuse for the of believable scenes in this movie. Without believability,
a movies quality can remarkably lower. During the film, after Bella and her Friend Jacob fought,
Jacob shows up at Bella s house. Showing up shirtless, Jacob, superhuman jumps and climbs back in
forth from a tree and the side of her home into her bedroom window on the second floor. While this
behavior does not seem abnormal for someone of his werewolf type, Bella at this point in the movie
does not know his inner wolf. In fact, none of this odd behavior seems even to phase Bella. In
addition, Jacob, who has just broken her heart, comes in and starts speaking in riddles to Bella that
would involve her having to exactly remember just an ordinary conversation between the two that has
that takes place weeks prior. Somehow she magically remembers this conversation. None of the events
that happen seem even remotely believable. In particular, the lack of negative emotions Bella
expresses upon her face plays an influential role in the films utter lack of believability. Even though
Jacob, a friend guilty of lying to Bella, causes her emotional pain, Bella still finds herself listening
kindly to Jacob without hesitation. This highly unbelievable situation will most likely never happen in
real life. In addition, the scene exposes how Bella s willingness to give her current beliefs and
emotions all to have a moderately decent conversation with a boy she loves, in a friend way, further
demonstrating the central message that the story produces. This further exhibits the story s willingness
to push the message that love trumps anything and everything for love. Unfortunately, this does not
only happen once. A few scenes later, Bella learns that werewolves do in fact exist and her best friend,
Jacob, has the werewolf in him. After learning this new information, Bella goes to the family home to
meet the other wolves and the pack leaders, wife. In the movie, the wolves make it clear that their
identity as werewolves must remain a secret. However, Jacob indirectly breaks this rule and shares it
with Bella. At this home, the wife

Racial Minorities And Its Impact On American Society
While Southwestern boasts itself as an extremely progressive, liberal institution. The university does
meet many of the requirements to call itself these things it s staff is not very diverse. In just the year
2015 Southwestern granted tenure to the first black male in its history Dr. Reggie Byron. Dr. Bryon
became one of just five males of color tenured at Southwestern out of 91 tenured faculty. This
represents that the faculty at Southwestern University strongly under represents racial minorities in its
tenured staff. This lack of diversity exemplifies a structure of privilege at Southwestern that
disproportionately furthers the interests of white students and professors and excludes racial minorities
from the same experiences. First, the possible causes for this lack of diversity must be shown as to
expose this structure of privilege here at Southwestern. One factor that plays a major role in the hiring
of racial minorities especially at positions thought of as very professional, which professors fall under
is how society defines professionalism. The way we visual the word professional in American society
is very stigmatized and obviously benefits the dominant group. Most of the time we picture a white
male body in a suit with short, straight hair and is well groomed. None of these indicators point to a
minority body as being professional. This becomes a form of colorblind racism where the inequality
of racial minorities is contributed to things that are not racial

The difference between Christmas and Hanukkah
Every year people are jolly to celebrate their own traditions. Whether it is Christmas or Hanukkah,
people find joys with giving and receiving gifts. Both holidays differ in many ways. There are many
differences in the holidays Christmas and Hanukkah. A difference between Christmas and Hanukkah
is the history. Christmas is one day in every year which is December 25th. Hanukkah is 8 days and
starts the evening of the 24th of Kislev. Christmas origin is the birth of Jesus who is the son of God.
Hanukkah origins date back to about 167 B.C. A Jewish army, led by Judah the Maccabee, recaptured

25(Holiday History). Jews celebrate Hanukkah. Many Christians believe in the virgin birth. Also,
Christians give gifts and have Christmas decorations for example a Christmas tree. Jews light eight
candles and each candle represents a different day. In addition, for Hanukkah they light the menorah
and play the dreidel. Another difference is the importance of Christmas and Hanukkah. Christmas
celebrates the nativity of Christ and it is as diverse as the many countries that observe it, and was a
popular subject in the Catholic and Orthodox religious art of the middle ages and Renaissance( The
Gift of Holiday Traditions).Hanukkah is celebrated after a miracle occurred when the Jewish people
reclaimed their temple from their Seleucid (Macedonian) conquerors Judah s men tried to reconsecrate
the Jewish temple by lighting its menorah which is a sacramental lamp. The story of the birth of Jesus
can be found in the bible. Hanukkah is in the First and second book of Maccabees. If there was no
Christmas the religion Christianity would not have existed. If Judah, the Maccabee did not lead the
Jewish army and did not recapture Jerusalem from the Greeks, the Jews might not be alive to this day

Difference Between Food And Organic Food
Organic Food Versus Body and Environment In a day and age where the type of food we eat is
discussed all over the media, it can be hard to tell what is true and what is simply another marketing
ploy. In regards to organic food, there is definitely a lot of opinions surrounding the authenticity of
claims to their health and environmental benefits. Many people swear that by eating organic, you can
prevent illnesses such as cancer. While others argue that organic food is the answer to saving our
environment from the harmful chemicals that conventional farming produces. Some even go as far to
calm that organic foods may be another way to differentiate between social classes (Isenhour). With so
many different opinions, it can be difficult to decide what kind of food you should be feeding your
body. As a result of my interest in this widely controversial topic, the question that I will be answering
is whether or not organic foods are beneficial to stave off future disease and if they are actually better
for the earth. According to my research, organic foods have very little evidence supporting the idea
that they are healthier for our bodies, but have the potential to improve our environment with a little
more research. For a food to be considered organic, it must possess certain qualities. According to the
USDA, the dirt that an organic food is planted in can t have had prohibited things put in the soil in the
last three years. Animals must be kept in natural environments that

Managing Friendships Can Be A Complicated Process
Managing friendships can be a complicated process as it is a multifaceted topic with various needs
depending on the relationship you are dealing with. Many people are shy or diffident in their abilities
when it comes to social networks and do not know where to start when interacting with others. There
are plenty of guides and words of advice that focus on romantic relationships and being a better

the extent of honesty and trust between them. But what these facets are rooted upon is expression how
to express these similarities, how to convey trust and loyalty, how to reveal appreciation, and so on. In
a sense, then, the foundation of friendship is communication. As a result, this guide will focus on the
nuanced aspects of communication in order to facilitate strong friendships. Delving into this sphere
and explaining the critical, applicable research on communication will help you decipher strong
communication tactics versus types of communication that can break friendships. The beginning part

Essay On The Shawshank Redemption
During the final sequence of The Shawshank Redemption, Frank Darabont, the director, used
dialogue, symbolism and different camera techniques to create meaning for the viewer. These
techniques helped to portray the idea of hope, freedom and determination, through the scenes. They
built tension, keeping the viewers interest, and showed admiration in the relationship between Red and
Andy. The first of these techniques, dialogue, was largely used by Darabont, in the form of a voice
over. It was used throughout the entire film, but the director s use of non diagetic dialogue when Andy
was escaping brought emotion and left the viewer to think. When Red said, Andy Dufresne, who

One of these, Norton, the warden at Shawshank, found his own freedom by killing himself in the final
sequence of the film. Darabont combined a series of low angle shots throughout the film to develop
the strong, intimidating presence Norton had over the prisoners. Even when he was being corrupt, we
saw the warden from a low angle. For example, we see him like this when he is outside, talking to
Tommy before he is shot. The camera use keeps Norton looking superior, even when he had planned
the murder of one of the inmates. Nothing of what he is doing is superior, but the director continued to
give this impression. It built Norton s character, making the viewer believe that what he was doing
was okay. Although we saw the corrupt things that Norton did, it didn t seem bad. This was because of
the low camera shots that Darabont decided to use. Nothing Norton did seemed terrible, when if
anyone else did it, it would be disgusting. The low angle shots made the viewer believe that Norton
was so superior, that everything he did was right. Even after Andy had escaped and the police were
knocking on the office door, Norton was seen through the same low angle shot. This didn t change
until he had pulled the trigger on the gun, and killed himself. Frank Darabont used a high angle shot
for the first time on Norton, after he was dead. This finally showed the viewer his true personality,

Christ And The Sea
Christ and the Sea
Santiago is an old fisherman from Cuba. He s a man who doesn t have much, except for a strong will.
From the things he does to the things that he says, he is perceived, by the means of literary analysis, as
a Christ figure. For one thing, Santiago is a fisherman. This is the clearest biblical allusion in the
entire novel, and it comes straight from the title itself. His endurance throughout the book also reflects
the spirit of faith that Christ had, giving us the impression that the old man might have some sort of
unspoken bond with the fish, like Christ with his strong love for humanity. The old man struggles and
even succeeds in his attempt to catch the fish, only to see it ripped and torn away from him. This is
parallel to the story of Christ, who had to bear suffering and betrayal until his death. In many senses,
Santiago s endeavor symbolizes the labor of Christ described in the Gospels. The Ichthys has its origin
from the well known miracle about how Christ fed five thousand with five small loaves and two fish .
The religious symbolism behind the Jesus Fish is reiterated a multitude of times throughout the Bible.
Several of Jesus disciples are fisherman, and He even goes as far as to tell them that he will make
them fishers of men . Further ahead, Jesus is offered grilled fish after having been resurrected. The
significance of fish in the Bible is a large one, and it s no different in The Old Man and the Sea. Most

It is part of Disney HK s rationale in creating a unique experience of Disney s magic and Chinese
culture to position itself as a premium theme park in Hong Kong and the Asian region, a theme park
that would come to mind for international tourists and to engage potential mainland Chinese visitors
(Disney HK, 2012). It is the core strategy for Disney HK in sustaining its position, profitability and
competitive advantage in the long run.

Disney HK has failed to reach its target number of 5.6 million visitors in the first year of operation,
achieving a total of slightly over 5 million visitors well under its expectation. In the second and third
year of operation, the park visitors were recorded at 4.17 and 4.5 million respectively (Tai and Lau,
2009). This led to a loss in profit incurred by Disney HK over three years of operation despite its
effort on integrating to Chinese culture and attempt to create a high value and unique customer s
experience to the Disney magic. As a result of the loss, Walt Disney and the creditors of Disney HK
had eased the pressure on payments over management fees and royalties, performance targets on its
commercial loan were also removed (HK SAR, 1999). In the following year, an opportunity presented
itself as Walt Disney had cleared its commercial loans, where Walt Disney was relieved from a major
obstacle from realising

On My Way
René Descartes was a famous French mathematician, scientist, and philosopher. He was arguably
known as the Father of Modern Philosophy. Descartes published many works of mathematics and
philosophy throughout his life. In one of his most important works, Meditations on First Philosophy,
he added a number of arguments for and against skepticism. Skepticism is the doubt about the truth of
something and that absolute knowledge is not possible. Like past famous philosophers before him,
Plato and Parmenides, Descartes believed that evidence from the senses was inadequate to prove the
kind of justification required for a claim of knowledge.
In the first of Rene Descartes Meditations, he provided arguments for the skeptical position. He ...

The method of hyperbolical doubt, also known as methodic doubt, is a methodical process of being
skeptical about the truth of one s belief. According to the article Descartes Epistemology, Hyperbolical
Doubt is perceived to mean that one applies doubt to all candidates of knowledge. However, Descartes
sees hyperbolical doubt as this: when one decides to doubt their knowledge, one must apply their
doubt to all candidates collectively and start at the foundation. As the phrase goes, one bad apple can
spoil a bunch, one false piece of knowledge can cause an entire belief to collapse. René Descartes
describes three skeptical arguments in Meditation I. The first argument is about how one cannot rely
solely on senses for knowledge because senses can be deceiving. One often makes decisions and
judgments based on what one sees, hears, feels, smells, and so forth; therefore, when one experiences
some form of sensory illusion, their judgment is impaired and the information can possibly be false.
For example, a person can be driving on a highway on a scorching hot summer day and be absolutely
certain that he or she sees a puddle of water on the road ahead. However, the closer they get to the
puddle of water, they quickly realize that it was an illusion of the sun. Their eyes deceived them and

Parliament practise exam question a) Explain the term life peers used in the extract (5 marks) *
According to the extract, life peers sit in the House of Lords. They sit in the House of Lords for life
and are appointed by the Prime Minister by recommendations from his/her party as well as the
opposition. The Life peerages Act of 1958 set the conditions for Life peers to be appointed and
examples include Lord Sugar and Lord Mandleson. Life peers make up the majority of the House of
Lords after the House of Lords reform act of 1999 removed the hereditary peers from the House of
Lords.

(25 marks) * Party control in the House of Commons refers to the size of majority of the majority
party in the House of Commons and the effectiveness of the party s whipping system. If there is a
large majority, then parliament s main functions, such as representation, scrutiny and legislation will
significantly be limited in terms of its effectiveness.
Firstly, party control, and therefore the size of majority, such as Blair s majority of 178 in 1997, limits
the effectiveness of parliaments legislative function because it would be harder for parliament to
defeat government bills, for example, in 2009 10, 23/23 government bills were passed in the House of
Commons, however only 6/67 private member s bills were passed in the House of Commons.
However, party control does not always limit the effectiveness of Parliament as backbench rebellions
are occurring more often in recent parliaments, such as 138 labour MPs voted against the Labour
government of 1997 2007 on the Iraq war, therefore the whipping system does not always encourage
party MPs to support the government and therefore do the poll vote .
Furthermore, party control in the House of Commons does not necessarily limit the effectiveness of
parliament in performing its main functions, as for the House of Lords, there is no democratic
legitimacy or popular authority, and therefore as are unelected, most peers hold specialist

Software Businesses Use An Application Lifecycle...
Software is the base necessity in a system as it acts as a guide between the user and the system.
Programmers design different kinds of software by writing a complete set of written instructions that

technological improvements, businesses are now looking at software development organizations to

There are numerous companies such as Hewlett Packard (HP), IBM, and Atlassin that have created
their own ALM service to help software companies meet there business objectives.
On the contrary, software companies can have trouble selecting a provider that designs their own
ALM software. It is important that software companies need to keep in mind that some vendors do not
offer an all in one product. Most vendors create a suite of tools to offer in there ALM software. In fact,
a software company should look for tools that have strong functionality in the components that are
least mature within the organization, and when there are tools that are already in use, look for
opportunities to integrate with those tools (Owen, G., 2015). The best provider that a software
company should select if they want to use ALM software in their organization is Microsoft.
Microsoft s ALM product called Visual Studio offers a broad suite of functionality available either on
premises or in the cloud (Wilson, N., Duggan, J., Murphy, T., Sobejana, M., Herschmann, J. 2015,
p.5). Software companies that use Visual Studio will receive a variety of features and tools to
demonstrate the products they create are trustworthy and meet all of the software components in their
application lifecycle. For instance, with release management in Visual Studio

that has unique interior characteristics. One of the most prominent characteristics of the Mughal
Interior Architecture and Design is the Synthesis of Indian and Persian Style. The buildings contain
the style of both the culture and tradition due to which their designs are exceptional and unique. The

Impact Of Gender Diversity On Leadership
Impact of Gender Diversity on Leadership and Management
Kaylin Wayne Wagan
Hawaii Pacific University
Nursing is evolving throughout the years, with new studies and research, we as nurses must take it
upon ourselves to not limit our fixated view towards to what we have been accustomed to. As future
leaders, nurses practice compassion and uniqueness of every individual (2012). The world around us
has changed particularly the rise in issues concerning gender. We have learned growing up that the
term sex was either male or female with no regard to gender identity. Gender is what one person
identifies as being either masculine or feminine (2012). The realization to become knowledgeable and
sensitive is shown by the growing numbers from the National Center for Transgender Equality, which
reported an estimated 115,000 to 450,000 transgender adults ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Growing up, she has always known that something inside her was very different and it took a lot to
realize what she truly was. The first semester of nursing school, we were told that we must know
ourselves for who we really are, in order to provide quality nursing care. This article hits both the
emotional and educational aspect of my passion in promoting awareness of transgender issues. Future
leaders have to be educated and spoken to about the issues we face in the trans community. Health
care for this particular group has vaguely been studied. Growing up in Hawai i, the Hawaiian culture
has always valued the third sex. The third sex, embodies both the hina (female) and ku (male) which
are the spirits within us. Accepting this fact about herself, the author has been able to ensure that she
has given acceptable care to her patients. She has learned that no one person will ever be at complete
agreement but we take it as leaders to understand the importance that sexual diversity is needed for

Major Character Development In The Boy In The Burning House
Through the character and actions of the characters in The Boy in the Burning House, Tim Wynne
Jones shows that major character development is influenced by the minor characters. An individual s
character is developed by how others interact with him/her. What others say to him/her, how others act
around him/her, and how he/she reacts to what they say and do to him/her. Tim Wynne Jones is the
author of the novel THE BOY IN THE BURNING HOUSE. Major character development is
advanced by minor characters. In the novel, Tim Wynne Jones centers around his protagonist, Jim
Hawkins and how his character develops with help of others as he is trying to figure out why his father
disappears. Hector Menzies, an old friend of the Hawkins, helps Jim out by giving information on
Hub, his father s past. Jim also receives help from his bus driver to solve an internal conflict. Jim
receives the final piece in finding himself, by one of his neighbors. It is with the aid of others that Jim
is able to find himself and it begins with Hector Menzies. Hector Menzies helps Jim s character to
develop because of the information Jim receives from him. Hector gives jim hope in the form of
information. Jim learns about the fire in 1972, he also learns that Father Fisher is found near the spot
where Hub is before he disappears. He had not told Ruth Rose he was going to the Expositor. He wasn
t sure he would help her...[He had] Some kind of burning need to know (72). Showing desire is
showing character. The burning need to know, Jim has it. Hector helped him satisfy his lust for
knowledge about his father s past. Hector giving the newspapers allowed Jim to move on with his
thoughts on Hub and Father. Jim s desire for knowledge shows, his thought process. At the start of the
novel, Jim is depressed, hopeless. He now has a goal because of the information. Hector gives Jim a
reason. But he wasn t lost for the first time in a year he felt he saw the faintest trace of a trail opening
up for him (73). Feeling is what makes humans, human. Characters, character. Jim is feeling hope, as
the author refers to it as a Trail opening . Jim at the beginning of the novel depressed, hopeless
because of his father s disappearance. He now has hope,

Cause Of Major Depressive Disorder
Aetiology
The exact causes of major depressive disorder are extremely complex and cannot be attributed to a
single genetic, social, environmental or developmental theory. It is a multifactorial and heterogeneous
disorder involving several factors which are simultaneously linked to the development or precipitation
of the disorder. The symptoms which are linked to the disorder reflect changes in the monoamine
neurotransmitters of the brain, more specifically noradrenaline, serotonin and dopamine. Variations in
the genes which are responsible for encoding serotonin transporter proteins account for early
childhood experiences being translated into an increased risk of major depressive disorder through
stress sensitivity in adulthood.

The Use Of Media And Media During The French Revolution
Media and propaganda have helped establish free societies, overthrow governments, and incite wars
throughout history. Revolutionaries utilized each to inspire and unite the populace during the French
Revolution. Persuasive newspapers and pamphlets featured opinion pieces that convinced commoners
of the drastic economic, social, and political changes needed to improve their quality of life, role in
society and potential for social advancement. Revolutionaries used art in museums and mass
distributed prints as propaganda to rally the masses with nationalistic themes of heroism, martyrdom
and the power of the people. Music and festivals also contributed by infusing the masses with passion
to unite against the monarchy and fight for the revolution. The use of media and propaganda in the
French Revolution systematically distributed revolutionary ideas to the people and drastically altered
the course of the movement.
The French Revolution officially began in 1789, but the monarchy made a series of disastrous earlier
decisions which created the perfect conditions for the movement to thrive and engulf the country in
chaos. King Louis XVI dedicated funds to assist the American colonists in their fight for
independence against the British. While the French succeeded in their goal, the war left France with a
depleted treasury. Peasants became dissatisfied with the government after a series of droughts and
poor harvests. Tensions were further inflamed by the high taxes the monarchy

  • 2. Moscow Kremlin Where the Two Rivers Meet One of Russia s diversities of Kremlins, the Moscow Kremlin is a fortified complex at the heart of Moscow, standing erect and vast within the fork of the rivers,Neglina, and Moskva. As early as 1147, the Kremlin had begun its glorious construction. Although it was not all together majestic at the time, over the formative years, the Moscow Kremlin continued to populate and expand until it became known as one of the greatest structures ever raised in Russia. Where the two rivers, Neglinnaya and Moscow, meet in Russia, in the year 1147, a wooden fort was erected by Yuri Dolgoruky, the Grand Duke of Kiev, as a center of high traffic and trade. As people flocked in at a rapid pace, the fort grew to an abundance of new life and intensity. Becoming highly populated, a town had sprung where the business of the traders grew abundant. They brought wealth and treasures, foreign foods and valuables from far off. Need of a healthier fortification was instore. Stone buildings began to poke out from between ... • 3. Tetanospasmin Research Paper 1. The deadliest neurotoxin I can find on the web is Tetanospasmin (other than botulinum which I already have learned about). I believe this is the deadliest toxin because it says that an ant weighs 1500 times more than the dose needed to kill an adult human. Two hundred nanograms is considered lethal, and that is a VERY small number. Tetanospasmin causes muscle spasms when it is found inside the body within the nervous system and it is produced by a bacterium called Clostridium Tetani. The reason it is deadly is because it binds to neurons permanently, and when it is bound it stops the neurotransmitters from being released from the neuron. A dose of Tetanospasmin is able to stop a neuron from releasing a neurotransmitter because it damages ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Organizational Structure And Performance Operant conditioning Learning occurs from a consequence of the behavior leading to operant conditioning. The major consideration is in influence of workers behavior through reinforcing important principles. Motivation is an internal cause of behavior that leads to satisfaction as an external cause (Walle, 2009). This is after a positive consequence following an organizational performance or production. Positive reinforcement covers anything that increases strength and response and includes thing such as bonuses, raises and promotion and more importantly encouragement or praise. The essence of having reinforcement helps in measuring modifications of behavioral that takes place. Organizations structures have an effect employee satisfaction hence production and performance. Despite this, the relationship between the structure and performance are experienced through different channels in work place (Edmans, Li, Zhang, 2014). This leads to evaluate through the organizational structure to performance of the firm through satisfaction of employees. The interests are connected to evaluation of problems of firms through the staffs and finally the performance results. In this study, it helps in identification of current problems that firms are facing in reflection of the structural organization. Involvement of the staffs in various aspects, introduces the motivational approach structure through which problems are solved. The influence of organization structure to the performance ... • 5. Embalming In American Culture The term embalming is a familiar one in today s society; however, many people are unaware of what happens during its process. Depending upon the family s wishes, a body may or may not be embalmed. Culture can also play a part in making that decision. Embalming is a simple process with rich history that does wonders for a body and families. The history of embalming goes all the way back to the Civil War. Those who were left needed an efficient way to take care of the fallen bodies. Dr. Thomas Holmes was the first person to practice the French s embalming techniques in America. Since families wanted to bring their loved ones bodies home, this preservation tactic proved worthy. Eventually, many soldiers pre paid to be embalmed in the course ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some families want to see their loved one for the last time as if they are sleeping. Embalming makes this possible. The chemicals give the skin a natural color, along with makeup and other fixings (Godfrey). For many families, this last memory of their loved one is very important (Embalming). In rare circumstances, various cultures do not embalm the dead. Islamic and Jewish cultures refuse to embalm the deceased. It is seen as disrespectful to the body. Bodies are buried within 24 48 hours of their deaths. Hindus do not bury the dead at all; rather, they are burned. Catholicism requires that a body is buried as soon as arrangements are made. Due to these speedy burials and requirements, embalming is not necessary here. In fact, embalming is looked down upon in these cultures (Gray). Despite common beliefs, embalming is a short process. There are two main parts: internal and external. First, the blood and other bodily fluids are replaced with embalming fluid. To do this, a small incision is made to the neck and the two veins are brought up. The body cavity is punctured and cured as well. Once the inside of the body is completely embalmed, the focus returns to the external parts. The jaw is shut, the eyes are fixed, and any work to rebuild the face is done. Then makeup is applied. The hair styling is left up to the cosmetologist in most cases (The Embalming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Human Cloning Ethical Concerns on Human Cloning Human cloning, one of the most fascinating chapters in scientific history. Cloning goes back to the first mammal that was successfully cloned, Dolly the sheep. Dolly was duplicated on July 5, 1996 and since then the world has had many scientific advancements. Abby Norman, author of How Close Are We to Successfully Cloning our First Human said that other types of mammals such as goats, rats, pigs, mice, and rabbits have been cloned successfully but cloning other mammals and primates may not be so easy. Scientists are not yet able to successfully clone a human, but believe they will be able to do so by the 2020s. (Norman) Along with such a controversial topic there comes many who would agree that copying a human would be beneficial while on the opposing side some would argue that replicating someone s genes is ethically wrong. Cloning is a very important topic and according to the President s Council on Bioethics, The prospect of cloning to produce children, which would be a radically new form of procreation, raises deep concerns about identity and individuality, the meaning of having children, the difference between procreation and manufacture, and the relationship between the generations ( Human Cloning and Human Dignity: An Ethical Inquiry , 2017). Although useful for studying genetic diseases, human cloning produces issues as to whether it should be allowed or not because some believe the copy will have the same personality and ... • 7. Microsoft Essay Microsoft There have been many arguments and issues that have been raised with the controversy over Microsoft and the U.S. Department of Justice s claim against Microsoft and its founder Bill Gates of monopolistic practices in bundling its internet browser Internet Explorer into its popular Windows computer operating system. By doing this, Microsoft would effectively crush its competitors (it s main rival being Netscape Navigator), and acquire a monopoly over the software that people use to access the Internet. I recently heard a listener on NPR (National Public Radio) comment about the monopoly issue between Microsoft and the U.S. D.O.J. that Intellectual endeavors are vastly infinite and thus cannot be monopolized. I wonder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many corridors and keys that allow someone to gain access to the Internet. The real question here is whether Microsoft is seeking to widen it s doors at the expense of others and at the same time seeking gatekeeper access to the Internet by seeking to obtain the only key that allows access to the Internet. A metaphor of this problem can be explained through a library building that has many entrances in which to reach the knowledge of books contained within. Is Microsoft seeking to close off the other entrances of other providers so that the only access is through its entrance? It would be very tempting to say yes, but that would be wholly unfair. Now that the problem and issue which is presented to us is clear, an examination of whether or not Microsoft is violating any anti trust (anti monopolistic) laws can now proceed. Before he installed Windows 95, John Dodge connected to the Internet using software from a Microsoft competitor, CompuServe s Internet in a Box. Not anymore. Windows 95 silently disabled a key piece of his setup and made it too difficult for him to reinstall it. Dodge was not a novice. • 8. Convergence And Comparability Of Financial Reporting 1. Introduction It has been argued over years that Convergence of financial reporting is possibly one of the most important and controversial topics in accounting and corporate governance across countries, of which I could not wholly agree them. The Issue of the convergence of the National Accounting Standards with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) among policy makers, standard setters, regulators, professional bodies, and companies worldwide has peaked up and widely been discussed lately. (Yu Chen Zabihollah R 2012) Convergence has become increasingly critical across nations in accounting mainly due to the global economy and need of international capital market. In the light of that, a demand arose for standardization of financial reporting in order to enable users of accounting reports among different countries to read, understand appropriately and being in a position of analyzing financial statements came from different countries. However, the paper argues that the link between convergence and comparability of financial reporting is to be questioned when it comes to different countries such as China. There are both strong opponents and proponents of convergence. The proponents of convergence point out that the benefits of global financial reporting bring up the greater comparability of financial information for investors (PricewaterhouseCoopers, 2007) and the strengthening of investors confidence. The opponents claimed that the limitations of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, there is another way that you can go and you might make more money; is if you rent your chair from the salon. This way you get what you make on every hairstyle. • 10. William Shakespeare s World Masterpieces Today each person has their own story to be told. All of us come from different backgrounds and have circumstances we are living through. Each of has different type of person we wish to rely on. As a result of this there are no set standards as to whom we are to date and even marry and why. Instead, it s a matter of whom each person chooses. Miguel De Cervantes, understood this at a time, the 1600 s, where this idea of love was not normal. Back then to marry for love was considered foolish. Traditionally 16th century love was depicted as Chivalry Romance. This means that it was to be arranged marriages between those of equal status or class as the norm. Back then love was seen as a perfect and pure concept. Cervantes did not agree with this and challenged and mocked it in his writings. As stated by Maynard Mack in his book, World Masterpieces, The actual method [Cervantes] followed in order to expose the silliness of the romances of chivalry was to show to what extraordinary consequences they would lead a man insanely infatuated in them.. . Due to this type of thinking, Cervantes in his novel, Don Quixote, portrays love in a nontraditional way, as a mysterious force that draws lovers together. Many of the tales of courtship told in Don Quixote are driven by the force of love. The tale of Quiteria and Basilio is a great example of this. In this tale, Basilio and Quiteria are next door neighbors in the same village. Basilio falls in love with Quiteria at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Examples Of Unsung Heroes Of American Revolution American Revolution: Unsung Heroes of Independence We hold these truths to be self evident: that all men and women are created equal. (Elizabeth Cady Stanton, 1848). During the American Revolution, America went from being an extension of Britain (and a source of revenue when needed) to an independent nation built upon the grecian idea of democracy. When people hear the names George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, or Thomas Jefferson, they easily connect them to the capable leaders and revolutionary heroes who made great contributions during America s delicate infancy. These men, along with countless others, fought for the end of the monopolization Britain held over the colonies and undyingly laid down their lives for the pursuit of freedom. However, do the names Deborah Sampson, Peter Salem, or Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben ring a bell? • 12. Differences Of God s Desires In Genesis And The Book Of... In the Book of Genesis and the Book of Jonah, God reveals His desires for His people and expects obedience. These desires involve fulfilling His plan which includes, living in community, behaving peacefully, obeying and respecting Him, and repenting of sins. God makes His desires known, and in turn, His people obey and disobey these desires. More specifically, examples of this arise in the stories pertaining to Adam and Eve, Noah, Cain and Abel, and Jonah and the people of Nineveh. Noah as well as Jonah and the people of Nineveh show numerous examples of acting on God s plans and desires in a positive way, while the other examples contrast this and provide instances where God s desires are not followed. Although there are those who choose not to follow His desires, the instances where His desires are followed hold the utmost focus and importance because they represent God s plan coming to fruition through His creation. Beginning with the Book of Genesis, as God has completed His creation, He explains what He desires for the people that will reside on it and how he wants them to fulfill His creation. He explains, Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness (Gen. 1:26). These words from God present the idea that He wants to be one with His people and that He wants them to be alike to Him. However, His people will go on to show that while they are created in His image and likeness, they exhibit flaws and behaviors that are not associated with God. Another ... According to Alabama Agri culture Statistics supplied by the United States Department of Agriculture, Alabama was ranked 3rd in broiler production, 2nd in catfish sales and 14th in egg production in 2011. Although the number of farms has drastically dropped from about 225,000 farms spanning over 22 million acres in 1950 to 50,000 farms spanning 7.5 million acres in 2010, Alabama still remains a leader in the field of agriculture. This treatment of animal waste is dangerous and could lead to serious consequences. For example, the organoarsenicals in fertilizer are consumed by poultry, high levels of arsenic are found in the tissue of animals, and then poultry waste is used as a fertilizer. The incineration causes arsenic to be released into the air, this is an issue for communities surrounding the area. This constant entrance of organoarsenicals into the environ ment causes a risk for soil and groundwater becomes of less quality. In the United States 61% of farmers sell litter based fertilizers and 23% use their own animal waste as soil fertilizer (Kiranma yi). The use of animal waste as fertilizer is a positively impactful option for the environment when treated with care and managed properly. It is easier to manage on small farms as the farm ers can simply move their animals around the acreage spreading the waste equally. This technique keeps the waste light on one spot allowing it to not overwhelm the soil. However, it is also crucial to consider the chemicals inside the waste, and currently it is not cost effective for large scale farmers or CAFOs to use environmentally friendly fertilizers and animal feed. Farmers also put antibiotics into their animals to speed up growth, these antibiotics contribute to the waste prob lem (Tasho). They pass through the animal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Development Of Artificial Intelligence In Frankenstein... The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has progressed through today s modern society and is becoming more prevalent. AI is a manmade program with processes which retrieve information to adjust the program to better fit the user. Historically, American society s image of AI has developed using literary works and the film industry in order for most people to get an exaggerated explanation of AI. For example, in Mary Shelly s Frankenstein, Doctor Victor Frankenstein creates a monster that becomes increasingly capable of feelings and develops by learning from others. The novel itself has been interpreted multiple times, yet this monster is still considered as AI due to the monster learning information to become a more humanlike being. Mary Shelly s novel is one literary piece that has slowly developed the image of AI in society. Today, technology is becoming more advanced as independent companies are creating and developing their new, unique ideas. Automobile companies, such as The Ford Motor Company, are currently in the process of creating self driving vehicles, implementing AI into cars. These cars are becoming more developed and advertised within American communities, and the cars are the topic of debate within the scientific and ethical based philosophical communities. As society continues to develop AI, humans are becoming more obsolete. When people become more obsolete, they become unable to contribute to society due to the lack of activity. After observing my mentor and other nurses performing various dressing changes using the Aseptic Non Touch technique (ANTT), and practicing the procedure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the dressings were securely on and the procedure had been finished, I removed my apron and gloves and disposed of them in the plastic bag, along with everything thing else I had used and then washed my hands again. After leaving the patients home I discussed my practical experience with the Nurse who informed me that I although I had carried out the procedure well it was actually carried out using a clinically clean technique rather than the Aseptic Non Touch Technique as I had thought. As I had used the same gloves to remove the dirty dressings from the leg ulcer and then apply new sterile dressings I had not maintained the Aseptic Non Touch Technique. The Nurse informed me that this was perfectly suitable for the procedure I carried out as the wound was still kept as clean as possible and dressings and equipment used were sterile. Whilst carrying out the procedure I felt confident with my practice of the dressing change using the Aseptic technique. Although I was slightly nervous and self conscious as I was aware that the trained Nurse was observing me, I felt that this did not come across in my body language or my practice. When the Nurse told me that I was not using the Aseptic Non Touch Technique I felt unsure of the whole process which then led to me re evaluating my practice within this area. Casablanca Cinematography Casablanca Cinematography The film Casablanca directed by Michael Curtiz and released in 1943 at the height of World War II is set in December 1941 in Casablanca, French Morocco. It is a time of escalating power of the Nazi party, which attempted to gain control of most parts of the world starting with Europe and Northern Africa. As a result of the ascending power of the Nazis and anti German sentiments, many Europeans were desperate to flee their homes. Because Casablanca was not yet taken over by the Germans due to its distance from Europe, it served as the holding place or middle ground for those trying to escape Europe, assuming they could get there. The battle of the anthems serves as a small victory for anti Germans, yet it feels empowering. While music is essential to many scenes in the film, the absence of music in some scenes is powerful. The scenes that are not accompanied by music, are ones in which important information is being exchanged between characters and being revealed to the audience. In some scenes the information is historical and in some it is vital to the plot. In one scene that does not include music the man who murdered and stole letters of transport from German couriers confesses to Rick and requests that Rick hold on to the letters for him. The film follows the journey of the letters of transport, therefore it is crucial for the audience to hear and witness the trajectory of the letters before and after they reach Rick. Music would detract from the importance of the exchange of information in the scene. Yet, despite the lack of music in this scene, Rick hides the letters of transport in the piano, confirming the importance of the piano and its music in the film. (Cross Miller, 2012) The duty of care that the driver had was to obey the traffic laws. He neglected to obey such laws which ended in an injury to the driver of the truck. There are four elements to negligence. These elements are duty of care, breach, causation and damages. Duty of Care People are able to act freely, as long as their acts do not infringe on the rights of others. When a situation such as this accident occurs they neglect their duty of care. The driver of the dump truck had the duty of care to abide by the law and failed to do so by ignoring the red light. Breach The driver breached his legal requirement to duty of care by failing to adhere to a red light. Cummings and Stein have more similarities than one thinks, for example, their writing styles are both difficult to understand when first reading but they are both effective in conveying their message whether their ways are unconventional or not. It is evident that Cummings background in poetry influenced the prose style of his writing. For example chapter, two begins with I put the bed roll down. I stood up. I was myself. (page 62). Not only does this resemble poetry because of the imagery portrayed by just these few words but it also effectively conveys his message. They are also similar in their writing styles because they both use portraits to portray the people that surround them. While Cummings focuses on describing their physical appearance to paint a picture of both the characters mental and physical state, stein uses the painters and writers work as well as their physical appearance to paint this picture. Reading Cummings novel made it easier to understand Steins writing style because they are both similar in the sense that they are both breaking the mold by using unconventional punctuation and syntax. It also makes the reader appreciate it for its uniqueness and in a way it is like art because she and Cummings both reject the traditional autobiography format and make their writing their own. Stein uses Alice B. Toklas as her voice and Cummings uses his narrator who he calls C. These underground tunnels tend to fill with ground water. To prevent this, steam pumps were installed to keep the tunnels dry. The groundwater pumped out of the mines is comparatively clean (Wilkinson 2011, 3). Once the steam pump is shut off, the underground water is able to fill up the abandoned mine over years. After all tunnels are filled up, the water finds a way to release itself. This is called natural drainage water (Wilkinson 2011, 3). Those forces include the rise and fall of tides, wind, intensity of waves and variation in temperature. They consist of rocky ledges, boulders and pebbles. Furthermore, pools with seawater can be found. Rocky shores can be divided into different zones, according to vertical height. The zones vary in diversity (see Fig. 6) and most species are adapted to a specific zone (Little 2009, 17). Post colonialism makes a strong argument for the ability of the bank to abuse the developing countries of Latin America, as well as predicting the very real examples of abuse from the bank on indigenous communities in the region. Liberal institutionalism explains how the IADB promotes the interests of all involved and actually helps the region facilitate further onnections with other international institutions. Post colonialism views development banks such as the IADB as errant organisations imposing the will of wealthy, non borrowing countries in the form of conditional funds. In academic literature as well as general public perception, the World Bank and other multilateral development banks (MBDs) have long been viewed as domineering organizations able to impose themselves upon developing countries, (humphrey) which is the viewpoint that actually inspired the creation of the IADB. The IADB seems to subvert this colonising attitude by having the majority of its decision making votes held by borrowing countries and thus all impositions by the organisation are at the behest and in the interest of the region itself. It is soon evident that The Divine Comedy is in terms of an allegory. Midway through his life, Dante finds himself lost and in darkness. He is confused and unaware of how he has ended up in these dark woods. Dante soon comes across Italian poet Virgil, who will guide him through the Nine Circles of Hell. Dante Alighieri s The Divine Comedy: Inferno portrays Dante s life and adventure through Hell which allegorically represents a much broader subject: man s journey through life to salvation. The Divine Comedy: Inferno begins when Dante is midway through life and he has lost his way. In the starting lines, Dante claims, Midway in our life s journey, I went astray From the straight road and woke To find myself Alone in a dark wood. Dante declares that he has strayed away from the straight road. In Dante s allegory, the straight road symbolizes the right and virtuous path that leads to God. Mankind must be constantly seeking morality, and once man begins to lose sight of this righteousness, they will begin to abandon God s honest path. In order to remain on the right path, man must carefully strive for virtue and be aware of their sins. Showing up shirtless, Jacob, superhuman jumps and climbs back in forth from a tree and the side of her home into her bedroom window on the second floor. While this behavior does not seem abnormal for someone of his werewolf type, Bella at this point in the movie does not know his inner wolf. In fact, none of this odd behavior seems even to phase Bella. In addition, Jacob, who has just broken her heart, comes in and starts speaking in riddles to Bella that would involve her having to exactly remember just an ordinary conversation between the two that has that takes place weeks prior. Somehow she magically remembers this conversation. None of the events that happen seem even remotely believable. In particular, the lack of negative emotions Bella expresses upon her face plays an influential role in the films utter lack of believability. Even though Jacob, a friend guilty of lying to Bella, causes her emotional pain, Bella still finds herself listening kindly to Jacob without hesitation. This highly unbelievable situation will most likely never happen in real life. In addition, the scene exposes how Bella s willingness to give her current beliefs and emotions all to have a moderately decent conversation with a boy she loves, in a friend way, further demonstrating the central message that the story produces. This further exhibits the story s willingness to push the message that love trumps anything and everything for love. Unfortunately, this does not only happen once. A few scenes later, Bella learns that werewolves do in fact exist and her best friend, Jacob, has the werewolf in him. After learning this new information, Bella goes to the family home to meet the other wolves and the pack leaders, wife. The university does meet many of the requirements to call itself these things it s staff is not very diverse. In just the year 2015 Southwestern granted tenure to the first black male in its history Dr. Reggie Byron. Dr. Bryon became one of just five males of color tenured at Southwestern out of 91 tenured faculty. This represents that the faculty at Southwestern University strongly under represents racial minorities in its tenured staff. This lack of diversity exemplifies a structure of privilege at Southwestern that disproportionately furthers the interests of white students and professors and excludes racial minorities from the same experiences. First, the possible causes for this lack of diversity must be shown as to expose this structure of privilege here at Southwestern. One factor that plays a major role in the hiring of racial minorities especially at positions thought of as very professional, which professors fall under is how society defines professionalism. The way we visual the word professional in American society is very stigmatized and obviously benefits the dominant group. As a result of my interest in this widely controversial topic, the question that I will be answering is whether or not organic foods are beneficial to stave off future disease and if they are actually better for the earth. According to my research, organic foods have very little evidence supporting the idea that they are healthier for our bodies, but have the potential to improve our environment with a little more research. For a food to be considered organic, it must possess certain qualities. According to the USDA, the dirt that an organic food is planted in can t have had prohibited things put in the soil in the last three years. Animals must be kept in natural environments that ... Essay On The Shawshank Redemption During the final sequence of The Shawshank Redemption, Frank Darabont, the director, used dialogue, symbolism and different camera techniques to create meaning for the viewer. These techniques helped to portray the idea of hope, freedom and determination, through the scenes. They built tension, keeping the viewers interest, and showed admiration in the relationship between Red and Andy. The first of these techniques, dialogue, was largely used by Darabont, in the form of a voice over. It was used throughout the entire film, but the director s use of non diagetic dialogue when Andy was escaping brought emotion and left the viewer to think. One of these, Norton, the warden at Shawshank, found his own freedom by killing himself in the final sequence of the film. Darabont combined a series of low angle shots throughout the film to develop the strong, intimidating presence Norton had over the prisoners. Even when he was being corrupt, we saw the warden from a low angle. For example, we see him like this when he is outside, talking to Tommy before he is shot. The camera use keeps Norton looking superior, even when he had planned the murder of one of the inmates. Nothing of what he is doing is superior, but the director continued to give this impression. It built Norton s character, making the viewer believe that what he was doing was okay. Although we saw the corrupt things that Norton did, it didn t seem bad. This was because of the low camera shots that Darabont decided to use. Nothing Norton did seemed terrible, when if anyone else did it, it would be disgusting. The low angle shots made the viewer believe that Norton was so superior, that everything he did was right. Even after Andy had escaped and the police were knocking on the office door, Norton was seen through the same low angle shot. This didn t change until he had pulled the trigger on the gun, and killed himself. Frank Darabont used a high angle shot for the first time on Norton, after he was dead. This finally showed the viewer his true personality, when Norton didn t have the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Christ And The Sea Christ and the Sea Santiago is an old fisherman from Cuba. He s a man who doesn t have much, except for a strong will. From the things he does to the things that he says, he is perceived, by the means of literary analysis, as a Christ figure. For one thing, Santiago is a fisherman. This is the clearest biblical allusion in the entire novel, and it comes straight from the title itself. His endurance throughout the book also reflects the spirit of faith that Christ had, giving us the impression that the old man might have some sort of unspoken bond with the fish, like Christ with his strong love for humanity. The old man struggles and even succeeds in his attempt to catch the fish, only to see it ripped and torn away from him. This is parallel to the story of Christ, who had to bear suffering and betrayal until his death. In many senses, Santiago s endeavor symbolizes the labor of Christ described in the Gospels. The Ichthys has its origin from the well known miracle about how Christ fed five thousand with five small loaves and two fish . The religious symbolism behind the Jesus Fish is reiterated a multitude of times throughout the Bible. Several of Jesus disciples are fisherman, and He even goes as far as to tell them that he will make them fishers of men . Further ahead, Jesus is offered grilled fish after having been resurrected. The significance of fish in the Bible is a large one, and it s no different in The Old Man and the Sea. Most of the novel is set in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Descartes published many works of mathematics and philosophy throughout his life. In one of his most important works, Meditations on First Philosophy, he added a number of arguments for and against skepticism. Skepticism is the doubt about the truth of something and that absolute knowledge is not possible. Like past famous philosophers before him, Plato and Parmenides, Descartes believed that evidence from the senses was inadequate to prove the kind of justification required for a claim of knowledge. The method of hyperbolical doubt, also known as methodic doubt, is a methodical process of being skeptical about the truth of one s belief. According to the article Descartes Epistemology, Hyperbolical Doubt is perceived to mean that one applies doubt to all candidates of knowledge. However, Descartes sees hyperbolical doubt as this: when one decides to doubt their knowledge, one must apply their doubt to all candidates collectively and start at the foundation. As the phrase goes, one bad apple can spoil a bunch, one false piece of knowledge can cause an entire belief to collapse. René Descartes describes three skeptical arguments in Meditation I. The first argument is about how one cannot rely solely on senses for knowledge because senses can be deceiving. One often makes decisions and judgments based on what one sees, hears, feels, smells, and so forth; therefore, when one experiences some form of sensory illusion, their judgment is impaired and the information can possibly be false. For example, a person can be driving on a highway on a scorching hot summer day and be absolutely certain that he or she sees a puddle of water on the road ahead. However, the closer they get to the puddle of water, they quickly realize that it was an illusion of the sun. Their eyes deceived them and the knowledge which they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(25 marks) * Party control in the House of Commons refers to the size of majority of the majority party in the House of Commons and the effectiveness of the party s whipping system. If there is a large majority, then parliament s main functions, such as representation, scrutiny and legislation will significantly be limited in terms of its effectiveness. Firstly, party control, and therefore the size of majority, such as Blair s majority of 178 in 1997, limits the effectiveness of parliaments legislative function because it would be harder for parliament to defeat government bills, for example, in 2009 10, 23/23 government bills were passed in the House of Commons, however only 6/67 private member s bills were passed in the House of Commons. However, party control does not always limit the effectiveness of Parliament as backbench rebellions are occurring more often in recent parliaments, such as 138 labour MPs voted against the Labour government of 1997 2007 on the Iraq war, therefore the whipping system does not always encourage party MPs to support the government and therefore do the poll vote . Furthermore, party control in the House of Commons does not necessarily limit the effectiveness of parliament in performing its main functions, as for the House of Lords, there is no democratic legitimacy or popular authority, and therefore as are unelected, most peers hold specialist ...
