Examples Of Characterization In Night By Elie Wiesel
In many pieces of literature authors use character change to show the progression of characterization
throughout the novel. In Night, by Elie wiesel, character change happens because of the setting Eli is
in. Eli the protagonist s feelings changes as a result of his setting. Eli is left with his father after being
taken away from his home and sent to the concentration camps. Eli was innocent, kind, waiflike, and a
religious person. While at the camps Eli has to decide whether or not he can stay true to himself or
become a brute. By the end of the novel, Eli has become non religious, and brutal towards his father
and others. Throughout the book Eli has gone through many obstacles rendering him to lose faith in
god. He shows his lost faith in god after being separated from his mother and sister ... Show more

Eli shows his change towards his father when he get mad at his father when he sees his father get
beaten by Idek. This happened while they were loading diesel motors under the supervision of
German Soldiers including Idek. Eli just watched Idek release his wrath on Father with an iron bar and
did not defend him . Eli also becomes a brute towards his father when he thinks to himself that he
should just abandon his father and survive for himself. He thinks of this while when he was wandering
for hours searching for his father on and off around the camp. Eli stops and in his mind he says If only
I didn t find him him! If only I were relieved of this responsibility, I could use all my strength to fight
for my own survival, to take care only of myself... (106) Similarly Eli unwilling gives his portion of
soup to his dying father. He does this when he realizes his father had not eaten anything all day. Eli s
heart was heavy, when he realized he had failed the test just like the Rabbi s son. Eli not only becomes
a brute towards his father but to others

My Visit To The Ohio State University
I am currently attending The Ohio State University Columbus Campus. When I think about why I
chose The Ohio State University the first word that comes to mind is tradition. It has been a tradition
in my family to attend Ohio State since my grandpa and his brother enrolled in the 1960s. When I was
growing up I thought it was so cool to listen to all of the stories about Ohio State from my grandpa,
uncle, and countless other family members. They had so many great memories and they truly loved
attending Ohio State. I remember thinking that maybe someday I too could have my own stories about
Ohio State. When my junior year rolled around it was time for me to visit colleges. The first and only
college I visited was Ohio State. I knew right away

Birmingham Jail Reflection
1. King begins his first paragraph responding back to the clergymen about the statements given
towards him. 2. King describes thoroughly the organizations he is involved in as well as to which they
are afflicted with in other areas. 3. In the third paragraph, King is presenting his reasons that he is
present in the city of Birmingham and compares his risings to the Apostle Paul. 4. King states the
importance of how the matter of Birmingham affects widely to other areas, creating a situation for
everyone, not just within the community. 5. Martin points out that it was the demonstrations of the
white moderates that have resulted to the black community to take action. 6. In this paragraph, King is

Martin states how his group of people urged to enforce their message, but it kept changing frequently
due to major or minor casualties surrounding the community. 9. In this paragraph, King points about
the emotional strain given and how the matter must be subjected not from violence, but a sort of
violence that only gives pain mentally to the white community to turn to understanding and
repentance. 10. Martin compares and contrasts the individuals of Mr. Conner and Mr. Boutwell
opinions of the matter and how either way they are in side of the unjust. 11. Martin heeds warning that
time is of the essence and one must require that change needed to be brought up swiftly. 12. King
demonstrates a clear picture to his audience about the horrific torture brought upon his people. 13.
Martin clarifies the laws of differences between both the unjust and just laws. 14. In this paragraph,
King tells that a law taking away the rights of the minority, is one in which is unjust and not proven to
being a law at all. Martin shows how that any given law can be structured to seem a certain way, but
can be clearly viewed as being unjust. 15. If a law is unjust, one cannot take fault or be punished if it

Project Critical Success Factors
The 8 Key Factors are: 1. Business Case I agree that building a strong business case to be
communicated and shared with the Project stakeholders/sponsors and Team members is of extreme
importance. This is a task with extreme strategic value, as it will be linked to motivation for the entire
team. When the team members know that the project is based on a solid business case, it serves to
justify the utility and value of the project for the sponsors and the organization. Having project based
on a strong business case will help to identify objectives, milestones and performance measurement
tools that will serve as benchmarks along the project lifetime. It will also help identify concrete CSF.
2. Critical Success Factors CSF s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore the selection of a project manager may need to take this into consideration. If the project
manager has no previous experience in this regard, he/she may need to be coached or trained in
negotiation skills. 6. Avoiding Scope Creep Avoiding Scope creep can be of strategic value as well. I
agree with the author of the article in including this among the 8 key success factors of a project as it
is a way to identify the risks that are associated with scope changes. However, scope changes are a
fact of life. Scope changes are very common within the cycle of any project. Scope changes occur
throughout the entire life of a project and cannot always be avoided. In some organizations, or
business models, scope changes are part of a very important process of increased revenue streams.
Internal management may apply pressure to implement scope changes at any stage of the project. In
fact, in some cases, in particular in the service or consulting services industry, it may even be part of
the value proposition of the business. It is important to know the organization s business model and
value proposition clearly, and to align the project scope changes accordingly. I must add the caveat
here, that any scope changes should be carefully documented, tracked, assigned specific costs
(financial and otherwise) and analyzed in order to

Chapter Summary Of Alex Rogo s The Goal
The Summary Chapter 01: The first chapter introduced key characters of the story, Alex Rogo, the
plant manager of UniCo. And Bill Peach, vice president of the company. Bill was Alex s boss and was
very repugnant about an overdue order #41427. Bill ordered to ship this product within the same day
and Alex was also admonished by Bill in regards of this long due order. The company was not making
money and due to bad cash flow, Alex was given a survival deadline, which was three months to show
any improvement. Otherwise the plant will face a complete shutdown. Chapter 02: In this chapter,
Alex was able to ship the order with the price of overtime work till night and long chaos among the
workers. Though he was able to survive that delivery, he became anxious about the way of running the
operation. Chapter 03: Alex attended a meeting with Bill Peach along with all other plant managers at
headquarter and they discussed their performance which was not satisfactory. The goal was set for the
next quarter. Furthermore they also agreed to a deadline of one year to improve productions or there
might be some major changes in the company. Alex realized in this meeting, that why his boss Bill
Peach was so angry on the other day. Chapter 04: While Alex was on his way to attend a conference,
he met Jonah, who was Alex s physics teacher once. During their conversation at the airport lounge,
Jonah came to know the condition of Alex s plant and he put Alex in contradiction while asking him to

Differential Equations Of A Nonlinear System
5.1 Linearization
It can be seen clearly by the system s equation that the model belongs to a nonlinear system. Normal
differential equations can be created by the conversion of the system into state space model format.
When a control law is designed, Lagrange equations of motion (9) are reformatted. To be able to carry
this out, a state vector is introduced which is as follows. x= (θ θ ̇ )^T
To be able to apply the LQR technique on the system, linearization is important. Therefore the
nonlinear model of the system turns into: θ ̈= D^( 1) Cθ ̇ D^( 1) G+D^( 1) Hu (14)
After putting the variables of the system matrices in the above generalisation and their derivatives, the
system equation is as follows: x ̇=(■(0 I@0 D^( 1) C))x+(■(0@〖 D〗^( 1) C))+(■(0@D^( 1) H))u
(15)
Where I and 0 are identity and zero matrices respectively.
The system equation can be rewritten as: x ̇=f(x)+g(x)u (16)
Where
f(x)=(■(0 I@0 D^( 1) C))x+(■(0@〖 D〗^( 1) C)) (17) g(x)=(■(0@D^( 1) H)) (18)

North Korea has a vast and growing culture. With a population of 24 million citizens living in this
isolated area, most of them are ethnically Korean even with China being such a close neighbor. With
such a dense population, the same believes and religion practiced throughout its nation. North Korea is

An advantage of REST is its simplicity when compared to Simple Object Access Protocol SOAP,
which requires writing or using a provided server program and a client program. Roy Fielding created
the principles of REST architecture in the year 2000. REST has proved to be a popular choice for
implementing Web Services this is used by online retail giants Amazon.
An application or architecture considered REST ful or REST style is characterized by:
State and Functionality division categorically across resource
Use HTTP commands of GET, POST, PUT, or DELETE over the Internet. Every resource is uniquely
addressable using a uniform and minimal set of commands.
The protocol is often client/server.
The majority of web page are made using this same architectural method which indicates the
popularity of REST in web development.
There are various benefits of using REST in the designing of web applications one of these is the
importance REST applies on security. REST is popular due to the various security measures and other

Difference Between Human Resources Management And Payroll...
Human Resources Management and Payroll Cycle The Human Resources Management (HRM) and
the Payroll Cycle, which represent two connected but autonomous subsystems, are one of the five core
transaction cycles inherent in every organisation. According to Romney and Steinbart (2015) they can
be defined as a recurring set of business activities and related data processing operations associated
with effectively managing the employee workforce (p.443). In this process the HRM system conducts
all tasks which can be grouped into recruiting, training, job assignment, performance evaluation and
discharge of employees. The major activities of the payroll system concern compensation as well as
allocation of personnel cost to products and departments. Since both procedures require a different
kind of knowledge and skills, the associated duties are often segregated so that the HR department
manages the HRM part whereas the Controlling is responsible for the payroll system (Romney
Steinbart, 2015). The whole construct is illustrated in Figure 1. The main ... Show more content on

Although they contribute to the implementation of an effective and reliable internal control system,
both frameworks are subject to the same general limitations. First of all, they are not able to eliminate
every risk, but rather to ensure a reasonable assurance and control over the substantial threats
(Romney Steinbart, 2015). The reason for this is that not all events are under direct control of the
company. Moreover, there is always the pitfall of human mistakes and flawed decision making,
especially as the application of the frameworks requires some professional judgement. Lastly, the
resources of every organisation are limited and therefore cost benefit considerations might affect the
structure of the internal control system as well. (COSO,

Analysis Of The Movie Platoon
The movie Platoon reveals many different things about the nature of warfare in the post war era.
Platoon shows us what it was like being a soldier during that time. From drug use being so relevant
during that time to cope with stress to soldiers showing ruthlessness in many different scenarios like
the killing of many innocent people, and even betrayal within each other.
The drug abuse during the post war era was very great and relevant. Soldiers needed a way to relieve
their stress during the war. Thoughts of being with their parents once again would haunt them. Drugs
like marijuana and alcohol were used daily to cope with their daily stress. These drugs are known to
play with your brain which could ve caused indecisiveness or bad decisions. The actions of one could
displease another and lead to conflicts. In the movie Platoon, soldiers would gather in their camps and
use these drugs. They would use these drugs because they didn t know if they would ever go back
home and these drugs helped them escape these thoughts. These drugs could have led to
unprofessional behavior and lead to conflicts between their own people. For some soldiers, drugs have
helped them continue to fight the war and for other soldiers, it created a very toxic environment.
The post war era was also a very ruthless era. With the killing of many innocent Vietnamese people to
the raping of little girls. The movie Platoon shows us just how little anybody cared about these
innocent people. Since this was the post war era many soldiers had the fear that some of the innocent
people could have been fighters, so they wouldn t want to take any chances of dying and murder them
before they could make any moves. A scene from Platoon shows when the squad invaded a village and
had all the villagers sit outside. Sergeant Barnes had killed the elderly lady and then had threatened to
kill the man s daughter. Sergeant Elias comes by and sees Sergeant Barnes with a pistol to a young
girls head and stops him immediately, Elias fights Sergeant Barnes in order to call off the order of
killing the whole village. Another scene would be after the squad was done setting fire to the village,
some of the soldiers took little girls to a little spot and were getting

Analysis Of Tick Tock By Brian Eno
Tick Tock is an ambient piece of music that was made as a direct influence of Brian Eno s four part
ambient series of albums. 2/1 in particularly from Music for Airports is a reference for the aesthetics
of the sound design in the song which has a lot of darkened textures and is almost lullaby esque in
nature. A lot of randomness is often found within the ambient genre as a piece is meant to demonstrate
an ever evolving state. This is hard to express in a one minute piece however, so a constant tempo was
decided upon for the piece. To introduce some kind of randomness into it, the vocal part begins
playing on different beats through out the evolution of the music. Minimalist music had a massive
influence of Eno s music and I also wanted to take the aesthetics of that genre and try to apply it into
my music. As a result of this, only using the three selected sounds allowed me to avoid overcrowding
the piece which isn t meant to be imposing in nature i.e. background music.
The sound is derived from a vocal part saying tick tock and heavily laden with a clear long hall reverb
to give a huge depth to the voice. A slight delay on the voice is introduced halfway through the piece
to represent the ever evolving state in ambient music. The piano sound is a grand piano mixed with a
long hall reverb with a soft attack and medium long release to produce a dream like characteristic as
well as provide a deeper spacial texture to the soundscape. The third sound was a string sound that

Poetry Essay
Response to Death When someone is close to their deathbed, he/she often ask themselves similar
questions. Have I lived my life to the fullest? Am I ready to go on? Do I have any regrets? Other
people who care about us probably ask the same questions, but answer them selfishly to convince us
to stay or to fight. Ultimately it is up to the person on their deathbed to answer these questions
regardless of what their family and friends wish. Emily Dickinson, Dylan Thomas, and William Carlos
Williams have all written poems about death, but with varying points of view. Dickinson writes about
the acceptance of death, while Thomas writes about the fight for life, but it is ... Show more content on

As the narrator begs his father to fight to stay alive, he brings up example after example of various
people who do not give up on their deathbeds. He compares these examples to his father to show how
he feels and how he looks up to his father. He first describes how wise men at their end know dark is
right, // Because their words had forked no lightning they // Do not go gentle into that good night
(Thomas 4). These men understand that death is natural, but they have not made their mark in the
world yet and thus try to fight death until they have. His second example is essentially the same, but
with good men instead. His third example is about Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, //
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way (Thomas 10). These are the men who took life for
granted and do not realize how unfulfilled their lives are until they are on their deathbeds. All of these
examples are the son s way of pleading with his father to hold on. His final example asks his father to
try and be happy. He says, Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight // Blind eyes could
blaze like meteors and be gay (Thomas 13). He is trying to encourage his father and tell him that being
blind is not a good enough reason to simply give up on life and wait for death. His last words to his
father are quite moving as he says, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray, // Do not go
gentle into that good night. // Rage, rage against the dying of the light (Thomas 17). The son does not
care if his father curses or blesses him so long as he fights to live and does not give up. In a way, he is
behaving quite selfishly because it is not his life to dictate, but at the same time, it is a clear depiction
of how frightening death is for everyone, regardless of your

Corn-Fed Beef Vs Corn
In the society today, most people eat more of organic food to food produced with chemicals. This
means people rely on products that are 100 percent natural. One of the most natural food eaten by
Americans is meat. As a matter of fact, most of the meat eaten today originates from cattle. To make
maters worst, it has issues when it comes to production. In most feed yards, cattle s are fed grain to
grow fatter and bigger before being slaughtered, the conditions are terrible and horrifying. Thing
brought up a lot of questions within me. I wondered why cattle s deviated from eating grass to corn
and why they did? Do the cattle s suffer from infection after eating the corn? Should human be

The law of demand says that the higher the price, the lower the quantity demanded, and the lower the
price, the higher the quantity demanded. According to the food market sector, grass fed beef is higher
than cattle raised by grain. Therefore, because of the high competition placed on corn fed beef, the
price of grass fed beef remains low. The famers also cause the low price of grass fed beef, in the sense
that they try to compete with the famers of corn fed beef. However many of the famers seem to ignore
the price of raising the cattle. The cost of these beef affects the environment. Firstly, this beef causes
pollution as a result of CAFOS. The waste product produced from CAFOS are mostly realized into the
river, stream, and lake. The waste product contains ammonia, this gas has an unpleasant odor, which
can be detectable even at low concentrations. When it contains a high concentration, it becomes
harmful to vegetation. When this gas is flushed into a water body, it is more serious, because it is very
toxic to aquatic organisms. However, with this it gradually degrade the environment and all its natural
value. This is caused by the food the cattle is raised with grain (WBGH Education Foundation).
Amount spent on antibiotics for these cattle is another most avoidable matter. Health wise, the cost of
making the cattle grow quickly from different methods of feeding, destroys the immune system of the
animal. Because of the bacteria that is caused by these method. In other words, whatever disease an
animal has, will transfer to his/her prey. That means it also can affect the human system. Not just
affecting but also destroying it leading the person to death. E. coli (Escherichia coli 0157: H7), is an
example of the disease that can be transferred from the cattle to his/ her prey. When boosting the cattle
immune system, microbes becomes resistant, more antibiotics are used to reduce this. All this and

Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection And Acquired...
Introduction:
Human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is a
pandemic which infects the human immune system with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).1
The term HIV/AIDS describes the entire cascade and progression of disease from the initial infection
with HIV to the later, more severe stage of AIDS. It is a global pandemic that affects 35 million people
(2013) worldwide and 35, 287 people in Australia. 2,3 Dentists need to be acknowledgeable of this
rapidly spreading disease and understand how to manage patients with HIV/AIDS.
The human immunodeficiency virus is a lentivirus (retrovirus), which attacks Helper T cells,
specifically CD4 lymphocytes causing the progressive deterioration of the immune system.4 Initially
when HIV is contracted, there is a period if 2 to 6 weeks called seroconversion where HIV antibodies
are not detectable. During this period the patient may experience flu like symptoms due to the initial
immune reaction.4 Next, there is a clinical, asymptomatic phase, which can last up to 10 years, and
during this time the CD4 count decreases, causing gradual immunodeficiency. This lead to
opportunistic infections such as oral candidiasis (thrush).4 Eventually, the AIDS stage of the disease is
reached and there are more serious opportunistic infections and malignancies.
HIV is mainly transmitted by unprotected intercourse sexual intercourse, vaginal, anal or oral sex.
However it can also be transmitted by

Analyzing Career Choices
Analyze career choices choosing
Introduction
Career choice can be very difficult to make especially when faced with a decision to choice between
two attractive job offers (Clinton Van der Merwe2006). Certainly, each of these jobs will have its
positive and negatives aspects. Thus, how would you make an informed choice on the best offer? This
requires a good decision making system. This report presents a way such decision can be carried out.
Accountant and auditor job
Pay and compensation
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (2012), the average annual pay for accountants and
auditors is $61,690. The amount the lowest paid accountants and auditors received was $38,940, while
the highest was about $106, 880 (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2012). Majority of accountants and
auditors are full timers and some work more than 40 hours in a week. However, longer hours are
normally at particular periods such as during tax or budgeting period.
Work environment
Majority of accountants and auditors work from offices either employed or self employed, however, a
few work from their homes. They may as well work from their clients offices. Accountants work in

Summary Of Princess Alice Is Watching You
Princess Alice is Watching You Summary In the article titled Princess Alice is watching you: Children
belief in an invisible person inhibits cheating by Jared Piazza, Jesse Bering, and Gordon Ingram the
experimenters describe an experiment to test the prediction that children would be less likely to cheat
if there is an invisible person watching them. Within this experiment there were 2 children groups, one
group was of 39 children between the ages of five and six. While the other group consisted of 29
children with the age of eight or nine. One of the six year olds was omitted from the study due to the
fact he could not comprehend the task at hand. Within this experiment the children were asked to
complete a task and were told either a) they were in the presence of a watchful invisible person, b)
they were being observed by a real adult or c) they were unsupervised. This was a three x two
factorial, with the three meaning condition while the two meaning age group. The experimenters
introduced both Princess Alice (invisible person) and the real observer as friendly. The game consisted
of children having to throw a Velcro ball at a target and get it to stick and if they completed a take they
received a prize. But the task was nearly impossible due to three rules the children had to follow.

A Formal Testing Strategy Is Crucial For Achieving Success...
A formal testing strategy is crucial for achieving success with mobile app testing. The information
above will definitely guide you in understanding the key focus points of this strategy, but here s a
closer look at the steps you should take. Narrow down the devices the app will use Mobile devices
present the most obvious challenge to mobile testing. There are countless devices out there consumers
could use to access your app and ensuring your app works on all of them can be difficult. Even though
your app might run on a single platform (such as iOS or Android), the number of devices will still be
high for guaranteeing specific device testing. This is especially the case with Android operating
systems. Remember that there are different versions of an operating system and you should decide
which operating system versions the app is supposed to work on. In order to handle the device
challenge, you can consider using one of the three strategies: Only test using real devices Only test
using emulated devices Using a combination of the above As we ve mentioned before, you want the
emphasis to be on real devices and manual testing. It would be a good idea to focus first on some of
the main devices in your category. For example, find out the most sold and used mobile devices that
use Android, check which operating system version is currently popular and begin testing. For the
devices, which are not as popular, you can use emulated devices as the main testing method.

How Does Frost Use Figurative Language In Birches
The poem, Birches written by Robert Frost, depicts author s personal desire to escape the normality of
life through the mirage of climbing a birch tree. With distinctive use of diction, imagery, and
figurative language, Frost manages to indirectly understand his way of perceiving life. His view of the
normality and repetition that exists everyday is hidden within words written.
When seeing Birch trees, bent by the cumbersome snow of the long winter, Frost likes to imagine a
boy s been swinging them (Frost, 3). This is a portrayal of his desire to escape the mundane
characteristics of everyday life, and enjoy himself by imagining the boy riding them down over and
over again (29). Life can be laborious and stressful, and there are always going to be hard
uncertainties that can strain the individual s mind, and using figurative language helps the author show
this by comparing it to a worn branch. Frost shows his internal feelings with, They are ... Show more

separates the norm with the abnormalities. However, he knows that life is like a play, carefully
constructed and set for a reason; the author acknowledges this, May no fate willfully misunderstand

Evaluation And Workflow Design And Quality Assessment
Although crowdsourcing has been successfully applied in many fields in the past decades, challenges
still exist especially in task/workflow design and quality assessment. We take a deeper look at
crowdsourcing classification tasks, and explore how task and workflow design can impact the answer
quality. Our research is intended to use large knowledge base and citizen science projects as examples
and investigate the workflow design considerations and its impact on worker performance as well as
overall quality outcome based on statistical, probabilistic, or machine learning models for quality
answer prediction, such that optimal workflow design principles can be recommended and applied in

Thesis For The Things They Carried
Love and War
In Tim O Brien s story called The Things They Carried he writes about how a group of soldiers, who
are in Vietnamese, are caring items that are important to them. Lieutenant Cross carries letters from
Martha because he loves her. While he is day dreaming of Martha instead of watching out for his
team, Lavender gets shots and dies. Cross feels guilty about Lavenders death because he was thinking
about Martha; so he burns everything she gave him and he keeps himself and the rest of the soldiers
on point.
Two external conflicts that readers see are American soldiers fighting against Vietnam soldiers and
American soldiers battling nature. Readers see how this story take place during a war against
American vs. Vietnamese and how a group of American soldiers fight through the weather and
Vietnamese soldiers to stay alive. An internal conflict that readers could see in Cross is guilt. He
blames himself for the death of Lavender because he was concentrated on Martha.
O Brien wrote this story in third person point of view and is complete omniscient. The narrator is
unknown never revealing who he is. The thoughts readers can see are the thoughts of Lieutenant
Cross, and Kiowa.
This story takes place in the jungle of Vietnam. Readers see how a group of army is unfamiliar with
the jungle and that frightens them. They each carry closely specific items that are meaningful ... Show

Why Does Plato Considers Ordinary Human Existence to...
WHY DOES PLATO COMPARE ORDINARY HUMAN EXISTENCE TO THAT OF CHAINED
PRISONERS IN A CAVE? Plato in his famous Allegory of Cave compared the ordinary human
existence to that of chained prisoners in a cave. According to Plato, we are all stuck in a false reality in
this world like prisoners in a cave. His cave theory still applies today in the sense that the people are
influenced and controlled by the world around them. They do not want to realize or seek the truth;
instead they wish to live in the comfort zone inside the cave. THE ALLEGORY OF THE CAVE:
PLATO, REPUBLIC. Plato assumed the existence of human life in a cave. In his view, human beings

Why we are living with shadows? Whether we are all ignorant? Or we are all lazy enough to find out
the reality? Or we are slaves of these shadows? Is everything we saw are lies, then what is the real
truth? Is knowledgeable realm, form of good is the last thing to be seen? According to Plato, the
shadows inside the cave are illusion . Buddha s first expression of enlightment was all is illusion .All
Buddhist practices aimed at disabusing a person of their illusions. Presently Buddhism teaches to
pierce through the two veils of illusion, which are conflicting emotions and false beliefs about reality.
Everything is illusion in this world. According to Advaita school of Vedanta, Brahman is the only
reality; the appearance of dualities and differences in this world is a superimposition on Brahman,
called Maya. Maya is the illusionary and creative aspect of Brahman. Advaita accepts Plato s view on
reality. Everything inside the cave is shadows and are false realities. These are temporary. Likewise
everything in this world is illusion and is temporary. According to Buddhism, reflection of yourself is
enlightment. Reflection means finding answers for Who am I? Why am I here? Where do I go after
death? What will I be? But Plato s view is that knowing reality is enlightment. Reality means form of
good. Mahayana Sutra says; The truth was never preached by the Buddha, seeing that

Acid Base Balance Paper
Fluids and Electrolytes, Acid Base Balance
Fluid and electrolytes balance is defined as the process of regulating the extracellular fluid volume,
body fluid osmolality, and plasma concentrations of electrolytes (Giddens, 2013 ). Having an excess
or deficit of fluids or electrolyte can be deadly to the human body. Mr. D.H. arrived at the hospital
with an electrolyte imbalance. He had a sodium balance of 126 which normally it is 145 and a
potassium balance of 5.3 which has a normal range of 3.5 to 5. His hematocrit also was at 63%

Mr. D.H. was diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis. Diabetic Ketoacidosis can be triggered by stress
or infection. In this case the tooth infection probably caused the DK. There are several other
electrolytes that are affected by DKA. One electrolyte that is most affected by DKA is potassium.
Potassium levels are usually high due to acidosis. Acidosis causes the potassium to shift from the cells
into the extracellular fluids (Giddens, 2013). Acidosis causes hydrogen ions to diffuse from the blood
into the interstitial fluid because there is an excess of hydrogen ions in the blood. When they diffuse
they push the potassium ions out of the cell (Van Meter, 2013). Sodium is also affected greatly by
DKA. Sodium levels are lower because of the movement of water from the intracellular space to the
extracellular space. This is due to hyperglycemia, the body tries to get rid of the excess glucose
through urination (Van Meter , 2013). When sodium is lowered or depleted it causes impaired nerve
conduction, fatigue, muscle cramps, and abdominal cramps (Van Meter, 2013). This would explain the

Nuke Town Short Story
Nuke Town 1952. A town was left in complete destruction with mourning, hardship, and pain. One
family struggles to realize they should not have taken advantage of what they had, before they lost it.
The mother and father, fighting about money, come to the conclusion that a nuclear bomb may end
their bickering and lead to a new understanding of survival. The brother and sister, annoyed at their
siblings, notice a complete change in their bond that provides a feeling of love and comfort. The
struggling family unites as one and tries to fight for their lives as the nuclear gas is fighting them. A
simple life in this simple town was easy. Marylyn and Bobby, the children s parents, had spent the
warm, summer day inside. They were listening to The Mills Brothers on the brown radio with the
perfect sound and crispy crackles of the station. They were talking about the many bills they had to
pay that month as their voices slowly increased in volume. The kids, Donna and Little Jimmy, were
outside annoying and nagging one another, until they heard their parent s deep voices from the other
side. As the kids stopped talking so did the parents. Silence arose between their paths and a lack of
serenity was near. The earth underneath them had moved and the family heard a noise. The tiny town
had become dark and the streets filled with confused neighbors. Around them, children were crying,
people were screaming, lives were running. You could hear the clicking and dialing of the old

ABSTRACT
The Brassica rapa is a rapid growing plant that has a standard form and a mutant rosette form. Relative
to normal plants, the rosette form is shorter and takes longer to flower. The mode of inheritance of the
rosette gene was tested by crossing two true breeding plants, one of each form. The F1 generation was
then cross pollinated to produce an F2 generation. The phenotypes of each generation were recorded
and a chi square test was performed. The F1 offspring were almost entirely standard form, and the F2

After a week, the phenotypes of the plants were recorded in Table 2. The strongest plant in each cell
was left in the quad, and the others were removed in order to thin the plants.
Pollinating Flowers The plants were continually monitored and watered when needed. At
approximately two weeks from the day the seeds were planted, several flowers were open on the
plants. The plants were then cross pollinated using a pollinating wand. The pollen from one plant was
transferred to another, using approximately eight flowers. This was done three different days with one
day in between. After the third pollination, the unopened buds were removed. The plants were kept
watered, and the new buds and shoots were removed for the next 14 days.
Harvesting Seeds Once 14 days had passed from the day of the third pollination, the quad was
removed from the watering tray and left to dry for a week. Then, the dry seed pods were removed and
cracked open so that the seeds could be collected.
Germinating Seeds A piece of filter paper was moistened and then placed in a petri dish, and any
excess water was poured off. The harvested seeds were then placed in neat rows on the upper two
thirds of the filter paper. The petri dish was then tilted on end in a water reservoir containing
approximately two centimeters of water. The reservoir and dish were then placed under the fluorescent
light to germinate for 48 hours. After the 48 hours, the

From this lab experiment, I can conclude that the red cabbage solution is an effective indicator for the
acidic, basic and neutral chemical compounds. I learned that the universal indicator is also a good
solution for the three types of compounds. The colours are different depending on what substance you
are testing. The colours that we discovered in the pH scale are pink, red or orange. As for bases the
colour was either light or dark green sometimes yellow. The colours for neutral, were violet or
purple. In real life we are exposed to acids and bases everyday. For example, citric acid is in lots of

The Distributive Style Of Negotiation
How do we explore getting more in the deal than what was originally discussed? Some may not feel
making the deal should mean adding more to it than the original bargain There is a lot of, what is in it
for me? And what do we get out of this deal? Negotiation deals have either integrative or distributive
properties. What are the contrasts between these two styles and what are their comparisons? This
paper will explore the styles and how they are able to help expand the deal. The distributive style of
negotiation is where both parties discuss a fixed sum or end state. Usually, one of the sides loses and
the other gains. A gain by one side is made at the expense of the other. This is also known as a zero
sum negotiation (Negotiating Outcomes, 2007). The integrative negotiation allows both parties to
cooperate and achieve maximum outcomes from the agreement. It is done by allowing both sides to
integrate their interests into the agreement. Each side makes trade offs to get the things it values most,
giving up other, less critical factors (Negotiating Outcomes, 2007). These two styles are the basics of
negotiation. One is more helpful in expanding the deal. The term, expanding the pie , should be
interpreted as building a larger agreement. Remember, it is not about gaining power at the expense of
other. Your having more power doesn t mean less power for the other person. The pie is expanded

Homelessness Problem
Homelessness has seen an increase in Portland even with the 10 year plan to end chronic
homelessness being enacted, falling behind the country as a whole in the quest to get the poor and
vulnerable indoors. Currently, the nation is nearing its ten year plan to end chronic homelessness,
which has resulted in little to no progress. This is quite concerning because a homeless person on the
street will cost the city more per year than if the city invested more in guiding the homeless into stable
housing. Experts say the main way to end homelessness in Portland is to create much more affordable
housing, help train the homeless to be self sufficient, and creating a social safety net to prevent people
from falling into homelessness in the first place. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

rising in Portland. Along with the fact that there is little affordable housing for those who do manage

are many problems with homelessness, there are solutions to not only get the homeless out of the
streets and into housing, but to also help the homeless acquire career related skills, and prevent people
from falling into homelessness in the first place. Until we have permanent solutions to homelessness

parents that also commit financial frauds. Bernie Madoff was raised watching his parents Ralph and

(Cook, 2014) The question becomes, how did Bernie pull this off for so many years? Actually having
a legitimate legal running successful company to further your reputation as a highly successful
investor really helps, but how do you have billions of dollars invested in your company, that is
ultimately already lost before you even cash the check given to you? That in itself must have taken a
lot of time and energy, and when the scheme was discovered, Bernie stated that he alone ran his
scheme. For someone that has no problem stealing money from his investors, it seems odd that his
reason to take all the credit for the running of this scheme would be to protect the others that were
involved. Is he really protecting them or is his ego so big that he wants all the credit? That is a
question that we will never have the answer to unless Bernie himself answers it. But there is one
person who has come forward. Frank DiPascali, the former financial chief, became the star witness
against Bernie Madoff. Mr. Depascali was very forthcoming in giving information and he detailed
how the scheme was able to be hidden for so long, and how it all comes down to technology. What?
How does technology have anything to do with hiding a pyramid scheme? Well, Bernie had an

Questions On Big Ad
QUESTIONS:
1). What prompts people to take this action? Answer: In 2005, Carlton Draught let loose on the
Internet an impressive advertisement called Big Ad. Served up by a web site, visitors could watch the
video as it streamed to their computers, even in full screen mode. The video was constructed in a
unique style; very big, looked very expensive and impressive and Internet patrons received the site s
advertisements impressively fast. The web site can install programs on the client s computer only
because the Java applets used are signed; signed applets are given more access to users computers in
the belief that people will properly authenticate a signed applet by checking the certificate before
running it. Many people, however, ignore the content of the Want to trust this applet? dialog that is
displayed by their browsers and simply click the Trust button. This check is performed so users can
decide whether to trust an applet and thus give it more access to their PCs.
2). What current websites have clones (name both)? Answer: There are two examples of websites that
the article gives as a clone. The fist one is bonkofamerica.com versus bankofamerica.com to fool
visitors into trusting the phishing site. The second example the case study uses is democratic party.us

Andy Evans or as she calls him IT before her start into high school. Due to her rape, Melinda has
become more reclusive and began to miss class by hiding in the janitor s closet or skipping school
altogether just so she can hide from teachers she dislikes and avoid painful interactions with her
former friends. Her grades a majorly affected as well due to her actions in school. She has a hard time

The clique high school class group like she lists on page 4 ...Jocks, Country Clubbers, Idiot Savants,
Cheerleaders, Human Waste, Eurotrash, Future Fascists of America, Big Hair Chix, the Marthas,
Suffering Artists, Thespians, Goths, Shredders. Even with these clans in school she states her self to be
clanless and calls her self The Outcast forming the school social circles into a form of barbaric tribes
or factions coexisting together. At this age, it is easy for many to understand the social isolation that
we can feel in class especially a transition into a new school year. It s like the first day of school and
you get to lunch and you don t really know where to sit but you want to sit somewhere with people
that you know, so you are in a rush to find someone. The adolescence stage of our lives is like this in
between place between leaving behind our childhood and transitioning into adults. This theme of
adolescence makes Melinda s story more relatable and even her horrible circumstances that she is
faced with highlights the difficulties that all adolescence may face when at this stage of life.
The theme of the tree is a big symbolization of the growth that Melinda goes throughout the novel its
difficulties and of its importance to Melinda. Melinda is given this year long project to interpret trees
into art. It is at the end of the story that the trees become more profound like Melinda raking leaves to
the very end when she completes her project and shows it to her art teacher before finally telling her
about what she has been through showing that she has grown throughout the

How Wrestling Is A Sport
How Are You Going to Respond? Once you have wrestled everything else in life is easy Dan Gable.
This quote might not seem true to everyone but not everyone has wrestled. Wrestling is a difficult
sport. Wrestling wears on you physically and mentally. The sport of wrestling has many difficult tasks
and most people say that you don t have to cut weight you really don t but it s part of the sport just like
fouls are a part of basketball. Cutting weight is one of the hardest parts of the sport. As much as I love
the sport of wrestling is probably how much I hate cutting weight, if not more. When I was younger
like second and third grade I didn t cut or lose any weight. Even into fourth and fifth grade I didn t
really cut weight. When I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I told myself that and then my brain thought that oh you re doing well why not have this donut or this
candy bar and I did. The next two weeks were rough. I got down to about 107 and before we left for
cedar falls I woke up early that morning and got a run in and couldn t get the weight off. When we left
for cedar falls I was about three pounds over. When we got to Cedar Falls I don t remember what I
weighed exactly but I do remember running in the parking lot of the hotel we were staying at before
we went to weigh ins. I had been running for about 15 20 min and my dad brought me back to the
room and we made a homemade sauna in the bathroom. When we left for weigh ins I had no clue what
I weighed. When we got to weigh ins I got on the check scale before I officially weighed in, when I
stepped on it bounced back and forth between 105.1 and 105.0. I went to weigh in and I stepped on the
scale and weighed in at 105 on the dot. The decision to cut down to 105 led to many other decisions
that weren t so good, but were good learning situations. By the end of eighth grade I had placed fifth
at the state tournament and had been asked to be on the middle school national dual team. At the state
tournament I wrestled 115 and was weighing 120ish. For national duals I had to make 115 again and
this was two months later and I was weighing almost 130 pounds. This time we started the cut earlier

The Effects Of Heavy Metal Decontamination Of Sluil
Heavy metal contamination of soils has received considerable attention in the contemporary science.
Application of biological processes for decontaminating the contaminated/polluted sites is a
challenging task because heavy metals cannot be degraded and hence persist in the soil (Kidd et al.,
2009; Lebeau et al., 2008; Maet al., 2011a; Rajkumar et al., 2010). Among heavy metals, Al
(aluminium), Zn (zinc), Mn (manganese), Cr (chromium), Cu (copper), Cd (cadmium), Pb (lead) and
Hg (mercury) are the common toxic metals (Emamverdian et al., 2015). Cadmium (Cd) enters the
soils in various ways, but mainly through anthropogenic sources such as phosphate fertilizers and
sewage sludge, and emissions from power stations, metal and cement ... Show more content on

Rodr´ıguez Serrano et al. (2009) discussed the cellular response of pea plants to Cd toxicity, focusing
mainly on the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and its effect on calcium. Hasan et al.
(2009) summarized Cd induced toxic symptoms such as growth retardation and decreases in stomatal
movement, enzymatic activities, and protein metabolism in plants. There is a dearth of knowledge on
the cellular mechanisms that govern Cd toxicity and plant tolerance. This review aims to identify
various sources of Cd contamination and discusses the bioavailability and toxicity of Cd in plants.

In order to cleanup the contaminated sites, heavy metals should be extracted and concentrated by an
appropriate technique for proper disposal in designated secure landfill sites. The established
conventional techniques (e.g., thermal processes, physical separation, electrochemical methods,
washing, stabilization/solidification and burial) for clean up of metal contaminated soils are generally
too expensive and often harmful to soil microbial diversity (Dermont et al., 2008; Ma et al., 1993;
McGrath et al., 1995; Mulligan et al., 2001; Pulford and Watson, 2003). Plant mediated
decontamination/detoxification processes are commonly referred to as

Hilton Hotel At A Work Conference
Five years ago I stayed in a Hilton Hotel at a work conference. When I checked in I noticed two flyers
on the front desk that really have made me able to live in a higher lifestyle than I could afford on my
salary alone. The first was a Hilton Honors Card, which is a club you can join for free and which you
can accrue points, which you can use for free Hilton family of hotels stays, free gambling money in
Las Vegas, free airline flights, free cruises, free merchandise from Bloomingdales, The Sharper Image,
and other major retail chains. If you joined they would give you 10,000 points to start with plus all the
points for your current stay and anything charged to your room. The second flyer was to get a fee free

This was given to me in regular gaming chips at the Hilton s Casino, which I cashed in immediately.
The gambling money actually paid for my week at the Riviera Hotel And Casino and my Hertz car
rental. Yes, I am saying that my entire week long Las Vegas vacation was actually free since I had a
free flight (see my next article on Frequent Flyer Clubs). Actually I won money playing Texas Hold
em poker and came away with a profit even after a small slot machine loss by my wife. The next two
years I went to the Hilton less since I had retired, but used the Hilton American Express more. I even
charged $3,500 of my new car cost giving me over 10,000 points alone. I made $450, and $500 in
gambling the next two years. The year after that we stayed at the New Niagara Falls Hilton in a luxury
suite overlooking The Falls. This was the most amazing suite I ever stayed in with every amenity
possible. The linens themselves must have cost the Hotel a fortune and so did our two HD large screen
TV s. At least once in your life you have to have this experience. All this for free, nada, zip dollars just
by smartly using a free club membership and free credit card. You need not stay in the Hilton Hotel
even once, just use the credit card or you can join some competing hotels club plan if you want. If you
do this you will thank me for this great information. Enjoy yourselves.

The Failure Of Prison Overcrowding In The United States
Due to the war on drugs , prison overcrowding is becoming more and more of an issue, putting a strain
on not just the law enforcement but our society as well. America has been implementing a war on
drugs policy since the early nineteen seventies. Since the creating of the Drug Enforcement Agency
(DEA) in 1973 under Richard Nixon, then the Office of National Drug Control Policy under Ronald
Reagan in 1988, the United States has found themselves in an endless war and in constant debt huge
amounts of money. The main reason that the United States has found themselves in this situation is
due to one thing: the failure to understand the basic concept of supply and demand. The United States
failure to understand this concept had the nation

Wrinkle In Time Conflict
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L engle is a Science Fiction novel with 232 pages. According to a
customer review on Amazon, Rereading was one of the greatest gifts I have given myself. The wonder
of the book. To be so scared and then to have the feeling that love gives to us all. I think that the
intended audience for A Wrinkle in Time is 8 and up because anyone that can t read very well wouldn
t understand some of the words but, it is a great story that everyone can read. The protagonist in A
Wrinkle in Time is a girl named Margaret Murry. Meg is 12 years old, and very impatient, brave and
confident. She has to travel to a different world in order to save her father. Another protagonist in this
book is Charles Wallace Murry. He is Meg s younger brother. Charles Wallace is ... Show more

Calvin O keefe also helps find Meg s father. He is 14 years old and, like the others, brave, smart and
athletic. It takes place in a dystopian world. Mostly on planet Earth, Uriel, and Camazotz. The main
conflict in A Wrinkle in Time is that Meg and Charles Wallace s father is missing. I think that the
theme is that love is powerful. The main concept of the book starts out when Meg, her little brother
Charles Wallace, and their mother were all downstairs having a midnight snack when someone knocks
on the door. They let her in and find out that her name is Mrs. Whatsit. Before she leaves, she
mentions something about a tesseract. Meg wonders what this means but her mother won t tell her.
The next day Charles Wallace informs Meg that Mrs. Whatsit lives in the creepy house with her two
other friends so, they go to the house and encounter Calvin O keefe wandering about in front

Eli also becomes a brute towards his father when he thinks to himself that he should just abandon his father and survive for himself. He thinks of this while when he was wandering for hours searching for his father on and off around the camp. Eli stops and in his mind he says If only I didn t find him him! When I think about why I chose The Ohio State University the first word that comes to mind is tradition. It has been a tradition in my family to attend Ohio State since my grandpa and his brother enrolled in the 1960s. When I was growing up I thought it was so cool to listen to all of the stories about Ohio State from my grandpa, uncle, and countless other family members. They had so many great memories and they truly loved attending Ohio State. I remember thinking that maybe someday I too could have my own stories about Ohio State. Business Case I agree that building a strong business case to be communicated and shared with the Project stakeholders/sponsors and Team members is of extreme importance. This is a task with extreme strategic value, as it will be linked to motivation for the entire team. When the team members know that the project is based on a solid business case, it serves to justify the utility and value of the project for the sponsors and the organization. Having project based on a strong business case will help to identify objectives, milestones and performance measurement tools that will serve as benchmarks along the project lifetime. Therefore the selection of a project manager may need to take this into consideration. If the project manager has no previous experience in this regard, he/she may need to be coached or trained in negotiation skills. 6. Avoiding Scope Creep Avoiding Scope creep can be of strategic value as well. I agree with the author of the article in including this among the 8 key success factors of a project as it is a way to identify the risks that are associated with scope changes. However, scope changes are a fact of life. Scope changes are very common within the cycle of any project. Scope changes occur throughout the entire life of a project and cannot always be avoided. In some organizations, or business models, scope changes are part of a very important process of increased revenue streams. Internal management may apply pressure to implement scope changes at any stage of the project. In fact, in some cases, in particular in the service or consulting services industry, it may even be part of the value proposition of the business. It is important to know the organization s business model and value proposition clearly, and to align the project scope changes accordingly. I must add the caveat here, that any scope changes should be carefully documented, tracked, assigned specific costs (financial and otherwise) and analyzed in order to ... • 8. Differential Equations Of A Nonlinear System 5.1 Linearization It can be seen clearly by the system s equation that the model belongs to a nonlinear system. Normal differential equations can be created by the conversion of the system into state space model format. When a control law is designed, Lagrange equations of motion (9) are reformatted. To be able to carry this out, a state vector is introduced which is as follows. x= (θ θ ̇ )^T To be able to apply the LQR technique on the system, linearization is important. Therefore the nonlinear model of the system turns into: θ ̈= D^( 1) Cθ ̇ D^( 1) G+D^( 1) Hu (14) After putting the variables of the system matrices in the above generalisation and their derivatives, the system equation is as follows: x ̇=(â– (0 I@0 D^( 1) C))x+(â– (0@〖 D〗^( 1) C))+(â– (0@D^( 1) H))u (15) Where I and 0 are identity and zero matrices respectively. The system equation can be rewritten as: x ̇=f(x)+g(x)u (16) Where f(x)=(â– (0 I@0 D^( 1) C))x+(â– (0@〖 D〗^( 1) C)) (17) g(x)=(â– (0@D^( 1) H)) (18) 5.2 Linear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Difference Between Human Resources Management And Payroll... Human Resources Management and Payroll Cycle The Human Resources Management (HRM) and the Payroll Cycle, which represent two connected but autonomous subsystems, are one of the five core transaction cycles inherent in every organisation. According to Romney and Steinbart (2015) they can be defined as a recurring set of business activities and related data processing operations associated with effectively managing the employee workforce (p.443). In this process the HRM system conducts all tasks which can be grouped into recruiting, training, job assignment, performance evaluation and discharge of employees. The major activities of the payroll system concern compensation as well as allocation of personnel cost to products and departments. Since both procedures require a different kind of knowledge and skills, the associated duties are often segregated so that the HR department manages the HRM part whereas the Controlling is responsible for the payroll system (Romney Steinbart, 2015). The reason for this is that not all events are under direct control of the company. Moreover, there is always the pitfall of human mistakes and flawed decision making, especially as the application of the frameworks requires some professional judgement. Platoon shows us what it was like being a soldier during that time. From drug use being so relevant during that time to cope with stress to soldiers showing ruthlessness in many different scenarios like the killing of many innocent people, and even betrayal within each other. The drug abuse during the post war era was very great and relevant. Soldiers needed a way to relieve their stress during the war. Thoughts of being with their parents once again would haunt them. Drugs like marijuana and alcohol were used daily to cope with their daily stress. These drugs are known to play with your brain which could ve caused indecisiveness or bad decisions. The actions of one could displease another and lead to conflicts. In the movie Platoon, soldiers would gather in their camps and use these drugs. They would use these drugs because they didn t know if they would ever go back home and these drugs helped them escape these thoughts. These drugs could have led to unprofessional behavior and lead to conflicts between their own people. For some soldiers, drugs have helped them continue to fight the war and for other soldiers, it created a very toxic environment. The post war era was also a very ruthless era. With the killing of many innocent Vietnamese people to the raping of little girls. The movie Platoon shows us just how little anybody cared about these innocent people. Since this was the post war era many soldiers had the fear that some of the innocent people could have been fighters, so they wouldn t want to take any chances of dying and murder them before they could make any moves. A scene from Platoon shows when the squad invaded a village and had all the villagers sit outside. Sergeant Barnes had killed the elderly lady and then had threatened to kill the man s daughter. Sergeant Elias comes by and sees Sergeant Barnes with a pistol to a young girls head and stops him immediately, Elias fights Sergeant Barnes in order to call off the order of killing the whole village. • 15. Analysis Of Tick Tock By Brian Eno Tick Tock is an ambient piece of music that was made as a direct influence of Brian Eno s four part ambient series of albums. 2/1 in particularly from Music for Airports is a reference for the aesthetics of the sound design in the song which has a lot of darkened textures and is almost lullaby esque in nature. A lot of randomness is often found within the ambient genre as a piece is meant to demonstrate an ever evolving state. This is hard to express in a one minute piece however, so a constant tempo was decided upon for the piece. To introduce some kind of randomness into it, the vocal part begins playing on different beats through out the evolution of the music. Minimalist music had a massive influence of Eno s music and I also wanted to take the aesthetics of that genre and try to apply it into my music. As a result of this, only using the three selected sounds allowed me to avoid overcrowding the piece which isn t meant to be imposing in nature i.e. background music. The sound is derived from a vocal part saying tick tock and heavily laden with a clear long hall reverb to give a huge depth to the voice. A slight delay on the voice is introduced halfway through the piece to represent the ever evolving state in ambient music. The piano sound is a grand piano mixed with a long hall reverb with a soft attack and medium long release to produce a dream like characteristic as well as provide a deeper spacial texture to the soundscape. The third sound was a string sound that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night Dylan Thomas Analysis Erica Noble Dave Caserio Introduction to Literature 17 July 2015 Poetry Essay Response to Death When someone is close to their deathbed, he/she often ask themselves similar questions. Have I lived my life to the fullest? Am I ready to go on? Do I have any regrets? Other people who care about us probably ask the same questions, but answer them selfishly to convince us to stay or to fight. Ultimately it is up to the person on their deathbed to answer these questions regardless of what their family and friends wish. Dickinson writes about the acceptance of death, while Thomas writes about the fight for life, but it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the narrator begs his father to fight to stay alive, he brings up example after example of various people who do not give up on their deathbeds. He compares these examples to his father to show how he feels and how he looks up to his father. He first describes how wise men at their end know dark is right, // Because their words had forked no lightning they // Do not go gentle into that good night (Thomas 4). These men understand that death is natural, but they have not made their mark in the world yet and thus try to fight death until they have. His second example is essentially the same, but with good men instead. His third example is about Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, // And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way (Thomas 10). These are the men who took life for granted and do not realize how unfulfilled their lives are until they are on their deathbeds. All of these examples are the son s way of pleading with his father to hold on. His final example asks his father to try and be happy. He says, Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight // Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay (Thomas 13). He is trying to encourage his father and tell him that being blind is not a good enough reason to simply give up on life and wait for death. His last words to his father are quite moving as he says, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray, // Do not go gentle into that good night. // Rage, rage against the dying of the light (Thomas 17). The son does not care if his father curses or blesses him so long as he fights to live and does not give up. In a way, he is behaving quite selfishly because it is not his life to dictate, but at the same time, it is a clear depiction of how frightening death is for everyone, regardless of your ... One of the most natural food eaten by Americans is meat. As a matter of fact, most of the meat eaten today originates from cattle. To make maters worst, it has issues when it comes to production. In most feed yards, cattle s are fed grain to grow fatter and bigger before being slaughtered, the conditions are terrible and horrifying. Thing brought up a lot of questions within me. The law of demand says that the higher the price, the lower the quantity demanded, and the lower the price, the higher the quantity demanded. According to the food market sector, grass fed beef is higher than cattle raised by grain. Therefore, because of the high competition placed on corn fed beef, the price of grass fed beef remains low. The famers also cause the low price of grass fed beef, in the sense that they try to compete with the famers of corn fed beef. However many of the famers seem to ignore the price of raising the cattle. The cost of these beef affects the environment. Firstly, this beef causes pollution as a result of CAFOS. The waste product produced from CAFOS are mostly realized into the river, stream, and lake. The waste product contains ammonia, this gas has an unpleasant odor, which can be detectable even at low concentrations. When it contains a high concentration, it becomes harmful to vegetation. When this gas is flushed into a water body, it is more serious, because it is very toxic to aquatic organisms. However, with this it gradually degrade the environment and all its natural value. This is caused by the food the cattle is raised with grain (WBGH Education Foundation). Amount spent on antibiotics for these cattle is another most avoidable matter. Health wise, the cost of making the cattle grow quickly from different methods of feeding, destroys the immune system of the animal. Because of the bacteria that is caused by these method. In other words, whatever disease an animal has, will transfer to his/her prey. That means it also can affect the human system. Not just affecting but also destroying it leading the person to death. • 19. Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection And Acquired... Introduction: Human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is a pandemic which infects the human immune system with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).1 The term HIV/AIDS describes the entire cascade and progression of disease from the initial infection with HIV to the later, more severe stage of AIDS. It is a global pandemic that affects 35 million people (2013) worldwide and 35, 287 people in Australia. 2,3 Dentists need to be acknowledgeable of this rapidly spreading disease and understand how to manage patients with HIV/AIDS. The human immunodeficiency virus is a lentivirus (retrovirus), which attacks Helper T cells, specifically CD4 lymphocytes causing the progressive deterioration of the immune system.4 Initially when HIV is contracted, there is a period if 2 to 6 weeks called seroconversion where HIV antibodies are not detectable. During this period the patient may experience flu like symptoms due to the initial immune reaction.4 Next, there is a clinical, asymptomatic phase, which can last up to 10 years, and during this time the CD4 count decreases, causing gradual immunodeficiency. This lead to opportunistic infections such as oral candidiasis (thrush).4 Eventually, the AIDS stage of the disease is reached and there are more serious opportunistic infections and malignancies. Summary Of Princess Alice Is Watching You Princess Alice is Watching You Summary In the article titled Princess Alice is watching you: Children belief in an invisible person inhibits cheating by Jared Piazza, Jesse Bering, and Gordon Ingram the experimenters describe an experiment to test the prediction that children would be less likely to cheat if there is an invisible person watching them. Within this experiment there were 2 children groups, one group was of 39 children between the ages of five and six. While the other group consisted of 29 children with the age of eight or nine. One of the six year olds was omitted from the study due to the fact he could not comprehend the task at hand. This was a three x two factorial, with the three meaning condition while the two meaning age group. The experimenters introduced both Princess Alice (invisible person) and the real observer as friendly. The game consisted of children having to throw a Velcro ball at a target and get it to stick and if they completed a take they received a prize. The information above will definitely guide you in understanding the key focus points of this strategy, but here s a closer look at the steps you should take. Narrow down the devices the app will use Mobile devices present the most obvious challenge to mobile testing. There are countless devices out there consumers could use to access your app and ensuring your app works on all of them can be difficult. Even though your app might run on a single platform (such as iOS or Android), the number of devices will still be high for guaranteeing specific device testing. This is especially the case with Android operating systems. Remember that there are different versions of an operating system and you should decide which operating system versions the app is supposed to work on. In order to handle the device challenge, you can consider using one of the three strategies: Only test using real devices Only test using emulated devices Using a combination of the above As we ve mentioned before, you want the emphasis to be on real devices and manual testing. It would be a good idea to focus first on some of the main devices in your category. For example, find out the most sold and used mobile devices that use Android, check which operating system version is currently popular and begin testing. For the devices, which are not as popular, you can use emulated devices as the main testing method. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Does Frost Use Figurative Language In Birches The poem, Birches written by Robert Frost, depicts author s personal desire to escape the normality of life through the mirage of climbing a birch tree. With distinctive use of diction, imagery, and figurative language, Frost manages to indirectly understand his way of perceiving life. His view of the normality and repetition that exists everyday is hidden within words written. When seeing Birch trees, bent by the cumbersome snow of the long winter, Frost likes to imagine a boy s been swinging them (Frost, 3). This is a portrayal of his desire to escape the mundane characteristics of everyday life, and enjoy himself by imagining the boy riding them down over and over again (29). Potassium levels are usually high due to acidosis. Acidosis causes the potassium to shift from the cells into the extracellular fluids (Giddens, 2013). Acidosis causes hydrogen ions to diffuse from the blood into the interstitial fluid because there is an excess of hydrogen ions in the blood. When they diffuse they push the potassium ions out of the cell (Van Meter, 2013). Sodium is also affected greatly by DKA. Sodium levels are lower because of the movement of water from the intracellular space to the extracellular space. Some may not feel making the deal should mean adding more to it than the original bargain There is a lot of, what is in it for me? And what do we get out of this deal? Negotiation deals have either integrative or distributive properties. What are the contrasts between these two styles and what are their comparisons? This paper will explore the styles and how they are able to help expand the deal. The distributive style of negotiation is where both parties discuss a fixed sum or end state. Usually, one of the sides loses and the other gains. A gain by one side is made at the expense of the other. This is also known as a zero sum negotiation (Negotiating Outcomes, 2007). The integrative negotiation allows both parties to cooperate and achieve maximum outcomes from the agreement. It is done by allowing both sides to integrate their interests into the agreement. Each side makes trade offs to get the things it values most, giving up other, less critical factors (Negotiating Outcomes, 2007). These two styles are the basics of negotiation. One is more helpful in expanding the deal. The term, expanding the pie , should be interpreted as building a larger agreement. Remember, it is not about gaining power at the expense of other. • 40. Questions On Big Ad QUESTIONS: 1). What prompts people to take this action? Answer: In 2005, Carlton Draught let loose on the Internet an impressive advertisement called Big Ad. Served up by a web site, visitors could watch the video as it streamed to their computers, even in full screen mode. The video was constructed in a unique style; very big, looked very expensive and impressive and Internet patrons received the site s advertisements impressively fast. The web site can install programs on the client s computer only because the Java applets used are signed; signed applets are given more access to users computers in the belief that people will properly authenticate a signed applet by checking the certificate before running it. Many people, however, ignore the content of the Want to trust this applet? dialog that is displayed by their browsers and simply click the Trust button. This check is performed so users can decide whether to trust an applet and thus give it more access to their PCs. 2). What current websites have clones (name both)? Answer: There are two examples of websites that the article gives as a clone. The fist one is bonkofamerica.com versus bankofamerica.com to fool visitors into trusting the phishing site. The second example the case study uses is democratic party.us versus democrats.org, which mimics the target domains in a conceptual manner. 3). Explain how malware works and provide insights to possible malware files from your PC? What has your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Socioeconomic Status Buckner, J. C., Mezzacappa, E., Beardslee, W. R. (2003). Characteristics of resilient youths living in poverty: The role of self regulatory processes. Development and psychopathology, 15(01), 139 162. This article is a cross sectional study that examines the extent to which self regulatory skills occur in resilient versus non resilient youth. Along with the cross sectional method, the study also has a person focused approach allowing for a more holistic approach, though a variable focused approach is used when examining resilience to produce empirical results. It employs a variety of tests to measure the wide range of factors from prevalence of clinical disorders, such as anxiety, to the impact of chronic stressors, and competence in tasks required in daily life, within the developmental status of the individual. The study recognizes its limitations in determining causality due to the cross sectional nature of the study, as well as possible under reporting on topics such as history of abuse. The study takes into consideration a wide variety of factors appropriate to a topic as broad as resilience, including socioeconomic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. How Wrestling Is A Sport How Are You Going to Respond? Once you have wrestled everything else in life is easy Dan Gable. This quote might not seem true to everyone but not everyone has wrestled. Wrestling is a difficult sport. Wrestling wears on you physically and mentally. The sport of wrestling has many difficult tasks and most people say that you don t have to cut weight you really don t but it s part of the sport just like fouls are a part of basketball. Cutting weight is one of the hardest parts of the sport. As much as I love the sport of wrestling is probably how much I hate cutting weight, if not more. • 45. The Effects Of Heavy Metal Decontamination Of Sluil Heavy metal contamination of soils has received considerable attention in the contemporary science. Application of biological processes for decontaminating the contaminated/polluted sites is a challenging task because heavy metals cannot be degraded and hence persist in the soil (Kidd et al., 2009; Lebeau et al., 2008; Maet al., 2011a; Rajkumar et al., 2010). Among heavy metals, Al (aluminium), Zn (zinc), Mn (manganese), Cr (chromium), Cu (copper), Cd (cadmium), Pb (lead) and Hg (mercury) are the common toxic metals (Emamverdian et al., 2015). This was given to me in regular gaming chips at the Hilton s Casino, which I cashed in immediately. The gambling money actually paid for my week at the Riviera Hotel And Casino and my Hertz car rental. Yes, I am saying that my entire week long Las Vegas vacation was actually free since I had a free flight (see my next article on Frequent Flyer Clubs). Actually I won money playing Texas Hold em poker and came away with a profit even after a small slot machine loss by my wife. The next two years I went to the Hilton less since I had retired, but used the Hilton American Express more. I even charged $3,500 of my new car cost giving me over 10,000 points alone. I made $450, and $500 in gambling the next two years. The year after that we stayed at the New Niagara Falls Hilton in a luxury suite overlooking The Falls. This was the most amazing suite I ever stayed in with every amenity possible. The linens themselves must have cost the Hotel a fortune and so did our two HD large screen TV s. At least once in your life you have to have this experience. All this for free, nada, zip dollars just by smartly using a free club membership and free credit card. You need not stay in the Hilton Hotel even once, just use the credit card or you can join some competing hotels club plan if you want. If you do this you will thank me for this great information.
