Drive In Theatre History
June 6, 2008 the flag flying over the U.S. Capitol commemorated the 75th birthday of a distinctive
slice of Americana: the drive in movie theater.
It was on that day in 1933 that Richard Hollingshead opened the first theater for the auto bound in
Camden, N.J. People paid 25 cents per car as well as per person to see the British comedy Wives
Beware under the stars.
The concept of showing movies outdoors wasn t novel; people often watched silent films on screens
set up at beaches or other places boasting an abundance of sky. However, it took an auto parts
salesman such as Hollingshead to see the genius in giving a car loving society one more activity they
could do in their vehicles.
He first conceived the drive in as the answer to a problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Digital cinema will be both an opportunity and a threat for drive in owners, said the association s
director of media and research Patrick Corcoran in an e mail. An opportunity because digital will
allow them to get new movies sooner than they do they are often weeks behind the break for new
films. It s a threat in that the digital transition will be expensive to manage, and some may not be able
to do it.
Kopp of course bets on the drive ins survival. In 2005, he and his wife bought the Raleigh Road
Outdoor Theatre in Henderson, N.C., for $22,000 on eBay. He said they ve invested about $300,000
since to clear the seven acres of weeds and modernize the technology. Today the theatre can
accommodate 265 cars and show movies in a 60 foot by 80 foot screen. The sound comes through car
radios.
Film fare of the Raleigh Road and other drive ins typically consists of G rated films, Kopp said.
Disney movies thrive, as do animated films.
We ve had some folks that come out on a weekly basis. It s almost like a tailgate party, Kopp

Does The Otl Mathematics Instruction For Conceptual...
Does the OTL Mathematics Instruction for Conceptual Understanding Matter?
Some studies have shown that preservice teachers and in service elementary teachers have knowledge
gaps in their mathematics content and pedagogical content knowledge (e.g., Ball, 1990; Ma, 1999).
The knowledge that teachers have for teaching influence their instruction and the lack of such can
limit how they teach mathematics for understanding (Borko Putnam, 1996). For this reason, teacher
preparation programs and professional development forums should emphasize and provide the
opportunities for learning to teach mathematics for conceptual understanding. Not only do such
opportunities build on preservice teachers mathematics content knowledge, but they also introduce
them to the new ways of teaching mathematics that they may not have experienced in their earlier
mathematics learning.
The findings from this study suggest that frequent experiences in learning mathematics for conceptual
understanding through particular strategies is related to an increase in PSTs knowledge about teaching
mathematics. In particular, more opportunities that allow PSTs to learn to show why a procedure
works was significantly related to the average PSTs increase in content knowledge between the
teacher preparation programs in the United States. Similarly, within the Polish generalist, United
States specialist, and Russian teacher preparation programs the relationships between the OTL to show
why procedures work and

Breast Reconstruction Procedure
Although each breast reconstruction procedure in Orange County is unique, this procedure is usually
performed in one of two ways: A breast reconstruction with implants or a breast reconstruction with
the use of a tissue expander, followed by implant placement.
The procedure that Dr. Farbod Esmailian chooses to perform at his office in Orange County will
depend on the natural anatomy of the patient who is undergoing the reconstruction procedure. He also
takes into consideration the amount of tissue that was removed during the mastectomy.

Breast Reconstruction Surgery with a Tissue Expander in Orange County Stage Two
During this second surgical procedure, Dr. Esmailian removes the expander and places the patient s
permanent implant directly beneath the pectoral muscle.
The two stage breast reconstruction process is also referred to as delayed immediate breast
reconstruction because it gives patients time for other treatment options. For example, if a patient
needs radiation therapy, Dr. Esmailian waits until these treatments are complete before placing the
breast implants.
If a patient does not require radiation therapy, Dr. Esmailian can begin the reconstruction process,
which usually starts with the placement of the tissue expander. Dr. Esmailian and his staff are

Cold War Research Paper
When most people think of War they think of weapons, killing, and vicious attacks, however, that s
not what the Cold War was; hence the name. The Cold war was primarily a conflict between the
Eastern bloc and the Western bloc involving mainly economic and political actions, but no direct
military action between the United States and the USSR. The Eastern bloc consisted of the Soviet
Union and its satellite states, and the Western bloc consisted of the United States and its NATO allies.
The Cold War began in 1945, nearly immediately after the end of World War II, then lasting about
forty five years. This war was caused by three main things, those being mistrust between the alliances,

These proxy wars were very malicious and were often occurring in Korea, Vietnam, and Angola. In
addition to this war costing so many lives, this war also had a large money cost; nearly Eight trillion
dollars. This shocking cost tends to take a lot of people off guard, although war is expensive, most
people were expecting things one to be relatively cheap because it was not involving any military
action. However, this war was full of threats, especially the threat of using nuclear weapons. In order
to have an accurate threat, the United States would continuously be building nuclear weapons in case
this war reached that extent. Therefore, that s where the large cost came in, because, the United States
was spending about thirty five billion dollars per year on the construction of nuclear weaponry. This
approximately forty five year war was a constant worldwide clash between the Soviet Communism
and the American capitalism. Fortunately, after losing so many lives and so much money, it is thought
that the United States finally won the Cold War. However, the United States is only remembered as the
winners, because the Soviet Union lost. The Soviet Union did not meet their goal of destroying the
west and their capitalist

First Piece Of Art By Maria F. Simoes
The majority of us see art every day, sometimes we just fail to take notice of it. While other times we
notice it, but we fail to really see it. Seeing is a more open, receptive, and focused version of looking. I
was able to see some incredible pieces of art at the Kings Art Center. They were holding an exhibition
by artist Maria F. Simoes and it gave me the opportunity to compare multiple works from the same
artist, which was very interesting. The first piece of art by Maria F. Simoes that caught my eye was
Windmill (2). The Simoes created this piece using oil on canvas, which is her medium of choice for
many of her paintings. This piece is a landscape painting featuring a windmill in a scenic rural setting.
Simoes used color to give the piece some variety, while unifying it using shapes and patterns. The
pattern of the stone walls is mimicked in the stone base of the windmill, while the shapes of the tops
of the bushes is very similar to the tops of the clouds. The red used for the top of the windmill lends
some variety. The color also draws the eye, emphasizing the intended focal point, while creating
interesting contrast.
The artist uses the flower that sets low on the picture plane in the left corner for multiple purposes. It
helps balance the painting, while creating depth. The large flower appears very close to the viewer,
while the windmill seems small in proportion and much further away. The fact that it and the blue
flower in the lower right overlap the stone

The Romantic Periods
In the Romantic period a war and a battle took place, the era learned ways to spice up production, the
play Faust was created, and there were connections between the time period and the play itself. The
first war that took place was the French Revolution.
The French Revolution began in 1789 and lasted until 1799. There were three estates in France but
one of the estates was not being treated fairly so they decided to rebel. Finally, a Constitution was
made and everyone was happy. The battle of Valmy took place September 20, 1792. Two French
armies had some issues between themselves so of course the only way to resolve the problems was to
go to war. After a few days of fighting both sides decided to negotiate and eventually the fighting
ceased. In all the trauma that the war and battle cause though Goethe was able to find inspiration to
write his play called Faust . In order to understand Faust you had to understand the trauma inflicted on
the play s author by the French Revolution. (Kolonie) In order to deal with wars that were occurring
Goethe spilled his feelings into his writing. In the play Faust the Devil and God make a bet that the
Devil cannot make God s most promising scholar turn against him. The man ends up selling his soul
to the Devil but just when the Devil thought he won the bet angels came down to take the dead man s
soul up to Heaven. The author, Johan Wolfgang von Goethe, is known as the man most representative
in German literature. (Magil 733) He

Using One Cell Necessary For Life And Discusses Its...
A cell is the smallest unit of life for any living organism and considered the essential component of
life. Every living thing including humans, animals, and plants comprise of one or more cells in their
body that perform different functions essential for living. There are different cells in the human body,
in plants and animal functioning. This essay aims at using one cell necessary for life and discusses its
properties of life, the core chemical terminology, its molecules, and compounds. Specifically, the
assignment will describe the basic anatomy and physiology of the cell, how the cell respiration,
photosynthesis, and reproduction occur in a concise manner. The paper will also discuss Mendel s

The epithelial cell consists of the keratinocyte cell that makes its monolayer. After getting nutrients,
the growth factors of the epithelial cell enables it to grow and separate from the keratinocyte. The
keratinocytes get support from fibroblasts as shown by keratinocyte lines. The keratinoctes depend on
finite life enabled by soluble products highly structured by the fibroblasts. The properties of life of the
epithelial cell demonstrate that it is not an independent type of cell and requires fibroblast support for
its sustainability (McLaughlin Seaquist, 2008). Cell anatomy and physiology
Anatomy can be described as the branch of biology that studies the structures and parts of organisms.
Physiology is the branch of biology that examines the normal functioning and parts of living things.
Regarding the anatomy of the epithelial cell, it is lined in all the surfaces of the body including the
body cavities, intestine, skin, and lungs among other parts.
The physiology of the epithelial cell is that it forms the functional elements of the inner surface and
line of blood, secretory glands, and the lymphatic vessels. It performs different functions including
excretion, absorption, protection, secretion and gas exchange among others. The skin performs the
protection function. The absorption function is through the intestines, secretion through the glands,
gas exchange through the blood and lung vessels and excretion through the kidney.

Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson Essay
Speak is a cleaver and an ironic title for a story in which the main character chooses not to speak. The
story is written in first person narration from the point of view of protagonist, Melinda Sordino. Speak
is written like an interior monologue in the mind of an introverted teenage girl, like excerpts from her
personal diary during her miserable freshman year of high school. Instead of blending in and finding
her way through high school. She withdraws and secludes herself from the other students. She calls
herself an outcast. Melinda is so desperate to hide from the world; she turns an old janitor s closet at
the high school into her safe haven. She cuts classes to hide in her closet. How lonely could this
teenage girl be? All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And there is a clique of girls at the school who refer to their group as the Marathas, that is the Martha
Stewart wannabes. There doesn t seem to be a place where Melinda fits in. Where does a girl who has
been sexually assaulted fit in? Melinda isn t speaking to anyone, and no one will talk to her, except the
new girl, Heather, who moved from the state of Ohio. Realistically, Heather being the new girl just
wants to make friends. Heather doesn t know what is really going on with Melinda because she just
moved to town. Heather has no idea what happened the night when Melinda called the police, which
busted a summer party. In fact, no one knows, except for Melinda, what happened to her at the party?
She is convinced that because she is a victim, no one understands her. The whole world, including her
world, is out to get her and so it is best for her to remain silent. Ironically, the person Melinda finds as
the outlet to help her express her feelings is her art teacher, Mr. Freeman. In a class assignment,
Melinda is assigned to create an art project based on a tree. She begins to express her inner angst
through this art project. At one point, she uses dried bones to sculpt a picture of a skeleton. Then she
glues broken knives and forks to the project so that the bones look like the plastic utensils are stabbing
them. It is a grim depiction of how Melinda feels, and is immediately praised by Mr. Freeman.

Examples Of Categorisation
Categorisation is not a matter to be taken lightly. There is nothing more basic than categorisation to
our thought, perception, action and speech. Every time we see something as kind of thing, for
example, a tree, we are categorising. Whenever we reason about kinds of things (...) we are employing
categories. Whenever we intentionally perform any kind of action (...) we are using categories .
(Lakoff 1987: 6)
We categorise all physical objects and motor activities we come across in our everyday life and we
make decisions based on those categories. Without the ability to categorise, we could not function at
all, either in the physical world or in our social and intellectual lives. An understanding of how we
categorise is central to any understanding of how we think and how we function, and therefore central
to an understanding of what makes us human . (Lakoff 1987: 6) Although traditional Aristotelian view
on categories provides answers that differ from the recent research, both classical and cognitive
theories see categorisation as crucial to understanding how human beings make sense of experience
and how they communicate. Categorization is basic to human thought, perception, action, and speech.

Disagreement With Deadlines
Deadline
I believe deadlines have always been more of a motivational tool. Since, working with
USCIS/International Adoption cases, we have to work hard to meet some of the strict deadlines,
specifically expatiated cases, and other emergency situations. This means, we have to take additional
responsibility. We also have to be ready in the situation that any officers out of the office for any
reason which means we have to cover their work. While, applicants/petitioners can directly speak with
their assigned adjudication officer, we have much more pressure from different side to complete the
cases and provide them a decision. In the beginning, it was difficult, because I was new, but the more I

I have done many team projects in my school, where we were able to achieve good grade because of
knowledge sharing, team work, and great output. One recent example, I was in training with USCIS
for the Form I800A. I was very close with my supervisor and training instructor while making every
decision, because we did not want to make any wrong decision. In one incident, I issued request for
evidence for child abuse registry check, which should not be older than 15 months old. The USCIS
practice emphasized on the child abuse registry checks should not be older than 15 months old , but
this is not in any regulation. So, the adoption service provider challenges me based on the legal

Currently there is no cure for heart failure, the majority of treatments only manage the symptoms of
the condition and often a combination of medications is used to tolerate these symptoms and improve
quality of life. Unfortunately many medications that are given to patients with heart failure bring side
effects that can sometimes lead to even more health complications. An example of a commonly
prescribed drug that has a primary purpose of reducing blood pressure, thus improving heart and lung
muscle function, is the Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. ACE inhibitors dilate blood

Reflection On Career Development
A. This lesson mainly addressed aspects related to career development. This lesson encourages
students to discover their academic and personal strengths, their skillsets, and their interests. Students
then take those concepts and apply them to career exploration. They are able to link their strengths,
preferences, and abilities to potential future career paths. Some of the specific aspects of career
development that I addressed include applying planning and career exploration in setting and
obtaining lifelong career goals, applying necessary skills for career readiness and success, and
teaching students where and how to obtain information about post secondary options. In this lesson
students are encouraged to apply decision making skills to place different careers into the appropriate
career fields. In doing so, they are also encouraged to begin thinking about careers that are of interest
to them and what career goals they have for themselves. They will be given resources in order to
continue career exploration outside of the classroom. While I do not expect sixth graders to fully
decide their career path, it is my firm belief that it is never too early to get students thinking about
careers and having them set goals in order to obtain the career and future that they desire. I also
believe that this unit touches on social and emotional development as well as academic development.
This lesson allows the student to collaborate with one another and work in groups as well as in pairs.
This promotes relationship building and teamwork. It also allows students to take an inventory of their
personal strengths and skillsets. This could boost self esteem and promotes a sense of self awareness.
Lastly, this unit also encompasses academic development. Students will understand that good grades
and academic success are key elements to obtaining the career that they wish to have. By being
academically successful, this will allow them greater options and opportunity post high school
graduation.
B. In today s world, I feel as though it is very important to incorporate technology into lesson plans.
Technology helps keep children engaged and we are now living in a world where technology is all

Description Of Person Centered Theory
Lien Hua a sixteen year old first generation Chinese American. Hua came to the school social work
counselor complaining of feeling stressed. Hua explained that she is interested in pursuing social work
when she goes away to college, however, her parents would like her to either practice medicine or law.
She reported that just thinking of talking to her parents regarding her career choice is causing her
immense stress. As a result of the stress she reports that her grades have dropped and she is socializing
less. Hua has requested that the school social worker tell her what to say to her parents to help them
understand her choice.
Overview of Person Centered Theoretical Approach
Person Centered Theory (PCT) was cultivated by Carl Rogers from the 1940 s through the 1950 s
(Walsh, 2013). He first developed person centered therapy, infusing Functional and Humanistic views,
consequently, person centered theory followed. Rogers authored four books expounding on the
therapy (Walsh, 2013). Person Centered Theory is a nondirective humanistic client centered approach,
which regards the client and the social worker as contemporaries (Joseph Murphy, 2013). The client is
the authority on their life and the social worker is there to offer unconditional positive regard, which
fosters growth in sections that are important to the client (Joseph Murphy, 2013) . The primary
theoretical underpinning embraced by the theory is embodied in actualizing tendency, which Rogers

Relationship Between Fathers and Sons Essay
Both poems My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke and Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden are
poems in which the speaker (a son in both cases) attempts to explain his complex relationship with his
father. It seems that the two poets are reflecting back in their early lives as young boys and showing
different appreciation toward their father. In my interpretation My Papa s Waltz is about a boy and that
is excited that his father got home to play with him. Only problem is the speakers father is drunk and it
hard to enjoy himself but he held on because the unconditional love he has for him, as the line says

The Death Of Our Village
When I was young our village was much different than the hell we are in now. It all began when me
and some other children were playing on the beach. We suddenly saw something floating in the
distance. It appeared to be an enemy ship approaching, but as it was drawn further in by the rolling
tide, we could make out outlines of a human figure. Slowly but surely the waves pushed the
mysterious being onto the shore. We dragged him over to the sand. Water began to sprout from his
mouth like a newly dug up spring. With little sputtered coughs he vomited the sea water all out. His
eyes shot open shocking us all. With all his might he tried to raise his body, only to be lose out to his
exhaustion.
With all the commotion gone, we were able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We did not even have to clean off his face to know that the dead man was a stranger. The village was
made up of only twenty odd wooden houses that had stone courtyards with no flowers and which were
spread about on the end of a desert like cape. There was so little land that mothers always went about
with the fear that the wind would carry off their children and the few dead that the years had caused
among them had to be thrown off the cliffs. But the sea was calm and bountiful and all the men fitted
into seven boats. So when we found the drowned man we simply had to look at one another to see that
we were all there.
That night the men did not work at sea. While the men went to find out if anyone was missing in
neighboring villages, the women stayed behind to care for the drowned man. The woman took the
mud off with grass swabs, they removed the underwater stones entangled in his hair, and washed him
with soap and water. As they were doing that we noticed that the vegetation on him came from
faraway oceans and that his clothes were in tatters, as if he had sailed through labyrinths of coral. But
only when they finished cleaning him off did we become aware of the kind of man he was and it left
them breathless. He was the tallest, strongest, most virile, and best built man we had ever seen.
We could not find a bed in the village large enough to lay him on nor was there a table solid enough to
use for him. The tallest men s

What Are The Effects Of Living In A Dystopian Society
Imagine being in a world, where all you think about is fear. You don t have a personality of your own.
Your whole life is an upside down roller coaster. You would be living in a Dystopian society. A

Dystopian society s a lot in novels. Imagine if the world was one giant Dystopian Fiction. A Dystopian
Fiction could have many negative effects on the world.
One of the many negative effects could be violence. In a Dystopia, there can be a lot of violence
because nobody is happy. Everybody is in so much fear. While writing Dystopian novels, an author

Jacob Research Paper
Today s text describes Jacob s fight with a man.
Jacob wrestled with the man until daybreak.
During the hard fighting, the man struck Jacob s hip, which was put out of joint.
Despite great pain, Jacob was fighting against the man without giving up
At last, the man ardently asked Jacob, Let me go, for the day is breaking. (32:26)
From this scene, we wonder, why didn t Jacob allow the man to go?
Clearly, we are able to know the answer from Jacob s saying.
I will not let you go, unless you bless me. (32:26)
To Jacob, the reason to fight with the man was to receive a blessing.
Why did Jacob need the blessing, even putting his life in danger?
In order to answer the question, we first should look at his life.
Jacob was a born fighter.
Even before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regarding this, the prophet, Hosea said that [Jacob] wept and sought his favor. (Hosea 12:4)
Then, a wonderful thing happened.
The man wrestling with Jacob asked, What is your name? (32:27)
And, Jacob answered, Jacob. (32:27)
Then the man said to Jacob, You shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel,
For you have striven with God and with humans, and have prevailed. (32:28)
Now, we can answer to the question I raised at the beginning of this sermon.
Why Jacob needed a blessing, even putting his life in danger?
In fact, Jacob s past life was to plunder Esau s birthright and blessing.
Jacob was a thief and a bad fighter.
So, in order to face Esau confidently, he urgently needed a true blessing gained through a fair fight.
At that time, God was willing to fight with Jacob to give an opportunity to fight in a right way, to give
a blessing through the new name, Israel.
Through the fight, God made Jacob reconcile with himself.
Through the name, God gave Jacob new personality.
You have striven with God and with humans, and have prevailed.
Now, Jacob was ready to meet Esau.
Now, Jacob was ready to go forward.
In light of today s scripture, I want to ask

Nietzsche s View On Religion
To answer to question if Nietzsche would know really what is god were analyzed all 197 incidences of

The translator s point of view is that Nietzsche argues against Christianity, that is:
1. The abandonment of the purely moral view of life;
2. The rehabilitation of instinct;
3. The dethronement of weakness and shyness as ideals;
4. The renunciation of the whole abracadabra of dogmatic religion;
5. The extermination of false aristocracies (of the priest, of the politician, of the plutocrats);
6. The rebirth of the healthy, noble innocence that was the Greek man.

Johnny And Cush
The book, With Every Drop of Blood, by James Lincoln Collier, and Christopher Collier, is a Civil
War based fiction book. The authors are brothers who have both written several books before. This
book is not based on a true story, but follows similar events during the Civil War. The authors were
able to take real life information from the Civil War, and make it into a story. Readers from seventh to
eighth grade would be able to read this story. While it is easy to read and follow, the content might be
too mature for any younger reader. FollettBound Platinum is the publisher, and it was published in
January of 1994. Johnny and Cush are the main two characters in this book. Johnny is a brave,
stubborn young boy. He cares very much about his family and does a lot to earn money for them in the
story. He is very hardworking in whatever task he has to do, as well as clever. Johnny lives in the
South while Cush is a soldier in the North. Cush is a runaway slave who is now a soldier for the

it been great to work at a place with Ophra. I do see her being a leader that I would like to have

textbook, chapter 2 when discussing about job performances and the presentation about work ethics. It
all give the impression to stem from behavior and motivation. I am not sure of the whole story with
Cpt. William. But I am sure he came from a well rounded situation that felt the need to give back. As I

Acknowledging National Tobacco Strategy through Social Democracy Lens
Introduction
Australia is the world leader in tobacco control, as they became the first country that implemented
plain package policy. Since December 2012, all tobacco products which are traded and brought to
Australia must be in plain packaging in order to implement the National Tobacco Strategy (NTS) 2012
2018. (National Tobacco Strategy, 2012, p.27) The range of policies including health signs on
packaging, mass media campaigns, bans on tobacco promotion, price increases, and controls on
smoking and access to tobacco were implemented (ibid, p.1). As a result, 2014 2015 data shows that
14.5 percent aged 18 years and above were daily smokers (2.6 million adults), dropped from 16
percent in 2011 12. This reduction is a continuation of the trend over the past two decades. In 2001,
22.4 percent of adults smoked daily, while 23.8% of adults smoked daily in 1995 (Australian Bureau
of Statistic, 2015).
To recognise Australia s successes in handling tobacco problems, this essay will use social democracy
perspectives as key theoretical frameworks to the National Tobacco Strategy in Australia. According
to its supporters, social democracy is the best way to organise an economic system or society because
it seeks to peacefully build a healthy society (Judt, T, 2005). In this case, social democracy believes
that smokers and the market are irrational and, therefore, the government

This semester has been filled with many different encounters and situations. Many different feelings
and people. My experience in this first semester is likely one that I won t forget, I will likely
remember my first semester at Badley until the bell tolls for me and I leave this current plain of
existence and begin anew. Throughout this paper I will discuss what I experienced, the problems I
faced, and how I feel I improved because of this semester. First, I d like to go through my experiences
at Bradley during this first semester and how they shaped and molded me into who I am at the end. I,
like most people, have experienced the relatively limitless freedom that we have at Bradley, being
college students. For instance, going from a timeframe system of all day school spanning from the
early school years until high school and then shifting to a timeframe system that allows a lot more
allotted free time is quite liberating and very welcome. Being trapped and confined to a single
building for severals hours five days a week is not ideal for anyone. It s almost like being in a prison,
as many students have described school for years. However, this new freedom, while it is welcomed,
can also be disadvantageous because it can and will cause laziness because with more freedom the
more people will put things off and I myself have fallen victim to this. There have been quite a few
times that I have put off assignments to play video games or to watch movies because I have hours or

Wizard Of Oz Color Analysis
L. Frank Baum wrote an amazing story using colors to describe each part of Dorothy s journey to Oz.
The color changes throughout the story symbolized setting changes and different stages in her journey.
The colors also represented danger, beauty, power, mood and identified characters and surroundings.
The story begins with the color gray. Dorothy s home, her dog Toto, the farm she lived on with her
Aunt and Uncle, the land and sky are all gray and dull. Once the house had been painted, but the sun
blistered the paint and the rains washed it away, and now the house was as dull and gray as everything
else (Baum, ch.1). Her hardworking relatives were too busy working on the farm to have any fun with
Dorothy. The best part of Dorothy s life is her best friend Toto, who is black and the only thing that isn

Absolute Monarchy In The 17th Century Essay
Absolute Monarchy during the 17th Century During the seventeenth century, France and England
experienced many conflicts that resulted in public unrest. Absolute monarchy was the solution to
maintain order in society. Absolute monarchy allows a king to have complete authority to rule the state
by divine right. Under absolute monarchy, the king has full power in all parts of the sate and
parliament. Kings must be in control of all power and this power must not be shared to be successful
under absolute monarchy. In France, Louis XIV was the most successful absolute monarch due to his
stature and powerful involvement in the state. In England, an effort was made by James I to control
the state via absolute monarchy, but this was unsuccessful as the parliament in England was already
too powerful. Power and the ability to command ministers play a crucial role in the success of an
absolute monarch. To be a great monarch, one must work for the state and for the people. As Louis
XIV said, I am the state , meaning that he controls the state and without him a state does not exist. In
general an absolute monarch must be aware of all activities that take place in the state. He shall be ...

Effects Of Race On Housing Issues Essay
Given evidence of the effect of race on housing issues, even as it relates to home ownership, an
exploration of the empirical evidence in how it manifests within rental markets is necessary. One of
the leading researchers in the contemporary study of eviction is Matthew Desmond. In Eviction and
the Reproduction of Urban Poverty (2012), he combines statistical and ethnographic analyses to
investigate the ramifications of eviction on the lives of the urban poor. The primary independent
variable in this study was gender, while the dependent was eviction rates as a percentage. Half of his
quantitative analysis involved extracting legal records or court ordered evictions that took place in
Milwaukee County between 2003 to 2007 (n=29,960) ( Eviction and the Reproduction 91). Using
addresses, eviction records were merged with population estimates of Milwaukee s 880 block groups (
neighborhoods ), and yearly eviction rates for each block group were calculated by gender and pooled
to calculate annual averages (Eviction and Reproduction 94). Then risk ratios and differences were
determined using 3 different samples: all groups with at least 1 male and female evictee, high poverty
block groups where more than 40% of the population lived at or below 150% of the poverty line, and
hyper segregated neighborhoods where at least 85% of residents were same race/ethnicity (Eviction
and Reproduction 94). While these measures provided reliable and exact measures of incidence and

Location
St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park is located on the northern end of Jupiter Island, slightly east of Port

Once you reach the island, you will be treated to a stretch of beach that extends almost three

for just a minimal amount of activity, you can stroll along the sandy shore. You can watch the waves
lap against the shore as a calm feeling washes over you. If you visit the beach between March and
October, you will also get to see leatherback, green, and loggerhead sea turtles, as they use this area as
a nesting ground. If you crave a bit more activity, you can head to the water where you can surf,

Voltage Between The Antenna And Antenna
3.6.6 Voltage Standing Wave Ratio
There should be a maximum power transfer between the transmitter and the antenna for the antenna to
perform very well. This happens only when the impedance Zin is matched to the transmitter internal
impedance, Zs.
In the process of accomplishing this particular configuration for an antenna to perform very well, there
is always a reflecting power which leads to the standing waves, which is categorized by the Voltage
Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR).
This is given by [30]:
VSWR=V_max/V_min =(1+|Γ|)/(1 |Γ| )=(1+S_11)/(1 S_11 ) Eq. (2.31)
As the reflection coefficient ranges from 0 to 1, the VSWR ranges from 1 to ∞.
3.6.7 Input Impedance
It is the ratio of the voltage to current at the input terminals or the ratio of the proper components of
the electric fields to the magnetic fields at a particular point. Or in other words we can say it is the
impedance presented by the antenna at the input terminal.
Zin = (Rin + jXin) Eq. (2.32)
Rin the real part, representing the power dissipated though heat or through radiation losses.
Xin imaginary part, representing the reactance of the antenna the power stored in the near field of the
antenna [32].

Successful Aging Essay
Successful aging can be defined in many different ways. Throughout the semester we have talked
about many different aspects of aging that help define the success within the process. We have
discussed the neurosciences of aging, the physical changes associated with aging, the longevity and
intelligence of individuals in relation to their life and abilities while aging, how relationships and work
can change as one ages, and how aging affects ones personality. After reading Childhood Misfortune
as a Threat to Successful Aging: Avoiding Disease and Successful Aging and Well Being: Self Rated
Compared With Rowe and Kahn, I have a better understanding of the objective and subjective view of
aging in relation to childhood factors.
Schafer and Ferraro define successful aging in a more objective way, stating that successful aging is
the avoidance of disease and disability, high cognitive and physical functioning, and engagement

The Farmers Market At The Larger Food Systems Society Essay
The purpose of this report is to explore the Farmers market at Farm to Fork in comparison to the larger
food systems society contains. Food is an important aspect in our everyday lives, however, individuals
often do not take into consideration the different social relations to food. The Farm to Fork was an
interactive public event promoting non GMO and organic food in order to achieve sustainability
within Ontario. In order to describe the importance of this farmers market, Smithers et al (2008),
provide a definition of what a farmers market contains in order to compare these elements to the
industrial food system. I believe the definition that they provide is an accurate representation of what
Farm to Fork wished to achieve. Smithers et al (2008), describe a farmers market as a complex an
ambiguous space where notions of local, quality, authenticity and legitimacy find expression and
transactions around food (p. 337). This paper seeks to not only understand alternative food markets
but to also touch upon the activism promoted by various speakers and vendors. An analysis will also
be provided on specific characteristics seen at this farmers market in comparison to course articles
focusing on farmers market from other experiences. Lastly, exploring the farmers market will allow
for a critical engagement on a comparison and contrast to the course concepts as well as raise
questions on consumer knowledge and understanding.

Bilingual Education Over The United States
The Acts have vastly improved bilingual education over the years. The current programs available to
culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students are numerous and are found throughout the U.S.
The fact that educating CLD students has historically been a hot button issue so much that it is part of
the political arena. Bilingual education has become a controversial issue tied up with immigration
policies, government funding, and political parties. Therefore, there have been great changes made
overtime to how the program is administered, and what types of certifications the educators require.
The State of Texas has issued a Texas Education Code that includes laws and codes passed by the state
legislature. These include adaptations for special learning populations of English language learners.
The state mandated these policies found in the Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 89 was enacted to
ensure that every student in the state of Texas that is classified as culturally and linguistically diverse
(CLD) will be a part of programs that provide native and second language instruction. Policies and
laws such as these were not available to protect culturally and linguistically diverse student
populations in the past. Krashen states, the sink or swim technique was not a successful teaching
practice with immigrants and American Indians; this caused low academic achievement and increased
dropout rates. The more recent policies are based on studies that while students learn the

The Importance Of Budget Cuts
With so many budget cuts made in the united states due to the most recent recession we have all
expereienced over the past years, Some departmens which are considered crucial such as educiation
hav recieved the most extreme, budget cuts. Which has lead to teacher strikes, and cut backs just to
finish the fiscal schoolyear. Other government fund buisness are expericing lay off, cut in pay and
working hours. With these extreme budget cuts it is difficult to persuade the tax paying public that
anything beyond education deserves an increased spending. However with the recidivism rates rising,
it seems that more funding for incaceration andimporsionment is of major importance. Increasing

(Sterbenz. 2014) there are stark differences in how the prison system is ran. Norway s criminal justice

Norway, prepare inmates for life outside of prison walls, via vocational programs such as

goals retrbution, incapacitiation, deterrenece, restoration, and rehabilitation. He believes, americans
want their prisons punished first and later rehabilitared. This method has proven to be unsuccessful, as

A Child s Pursuit Of Happiness
On January 23, 2016, Iowa, passed and sent a bill to the state Senate that makes it legal for children
younger than the age of 14 to handle a pistol and ammunition as long as they are being supervised by
a parent or another person. Most of the advocates for this new bill want this law not to ensure their
child s safety from potential harm, but merely the right for their child to legally use a pistol for
recreational purposes. The problem with this new law is that now countless citizens sense of security
relies on whether a parent teaches their 1 14 year old how to correctly use a pistol. In 2015, statistics
have shown that a 3 year old was twice as likely to injure or kill a person than a 5 17 year old child. In
this situation, a child s pursuit of happiness should not infringe on another person s right to security.
Most children do not have the ability to think rationally about their decisions. In 2013, a 2 year old in
Kentucky was shot and killed by her 5 year old brother. Although there was no guardian supervision
when the homicide happened, the child did not have the capability to understand how dangerous a gun
can become. There have been hundreds of cases like the one mentioned previously happening
throughout the United States. Studies have shown that children are less able than adults to make risky
choices and comprehend the disadvantages and advantages of their choices. These studies support the
basic belief that

Optical Resonance Imaging ( Mri )
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a technique that uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create
detailed images of the organs and tissues within your body. MRIs are largely used in the medical field
today because of their ability to create detailed images of the human body which can be used for
diagnostic purposes. In 1971 a paper in the journal Science Raymond Damadian, an American
physician and professor at the Downstate Medical Center State University of New York reported that
tumors and normal tissue can be distinguished by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). He suggested
that these differences could be used to diagnose cancer, though later research would find that these
differences, while real, aren t consistent enough for diagnostic purposes. Damadian s initial methods
were flawed for practical use, relying on a point by point scan of the entire body and using relaxation
rates of the tissue in your body, which turned out not to be an effective indicator of cancerous tissue.
During the 1970s a team led by John Mallard built the first functional full body MRI scanner at the
University of Aberdeen in Scotland. In August of 1980 they used this machine to obtain the first
clinical image of a patient s internal tissue using Magnetic Resonance Imaging, which identified a
primary tumor in the patient s chest, an abnormal liver, and a secondary cancer in his bones. This
machine was later used at St Bartholomew s Hospital in London from 1983 to 1993. Mallard and his
team

  • 3. Drive In Theatre History June 6, 2008 the flag flying over the U.S. Capitol commemorated the 75th birthday of a distinctive slice of Americana: the drive in movie theater. It was on that day in 1933 that Richard Hollingshead opened the first theater for the auto bound in Camden, N.J. People paid 25 cents per car as well as per person to see the British comedy Wives Beware under the stars. The concept of showing movies outdoors wasn t novel; people often watched silent films on screens set up at beaches or other places boasting an abundance of sky. However, it took an auto parts salesman such as Hollingshead to see the genius in giving a car loving society one more activity they could do in their vehicles. He first conceived the drive in as the answer to a problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Does The Otl Mathematics Instruction For Conceptual... Does the OTL Mathematics Instruction for Conceptual Understanding Matter? Some studies have shown that preservice teachers and in service elementary teachers have knowledge gaps in their mathematics content and pedagogical content knowledge (e.g., Ball, 1990; Ma, 1999). The knowledge that teachers have for teaching influence their instruction and the lack of such can limit how they teach mathematics for understanding (Borko Putnam, 1996). For this reason, teacher preparation programs and professional development forums should emphasize and provide the opportunities for learning to teach mathematics for conceptual understanding. Not only do such opportunities build on preservice teachers mathematics content knowledge, but they also introduce them to the new ways of teaching mathematics that they may not have experienced in their earlier mathematics learning. The findings from this study suggest that frequent experiences in learning mathematics for conceptual understanding through particular strategies is related to an increase in PSTs knowledge about teaching mathematics. In particular, more opportunities that allow PSTs to learn to show why a procedure works was significantly related to the average PSTs increase in content knowledge between the teacher preparation programs in the United States. Similarly, within the Polish generalist, United States specialist, and Russian teacher preparation programs the relationships between the OTL to show why procedures work and ... Seeing is a more open, receptive, and focused version of looking. I was able to see some incredible pieces of art at the Kings Art Center. They were holding an exhibition by artist Maria F. Simoes and it gave me the opportunity to compare multiple works from the same artist, which was very interesting. The first piece of art by Maria F. Simoes that caught my eye was Windmill (2). The Simoes created this piece using oil on canvas, which is her medium of choice for many of her paintings. This piece is a landscape painting featuring a windmill in a scenic rural setting. Simoes used color to give the piece some variety, while unifying it using shapes and patterns. The pattern of the stone walls is mimicked in the stone base of the windmill, while the shapes of the tops of the bushes is very similar to the tops of the clouds. The red used for the top of the windmill lends some variety. The color also draws the eye, emphasizing the intended focal point, while creating interesting contrast. The artist uses the flower that sets low on the picture plane in the left corner for multiple purposes. It helps balance the painting, while creating depth. The large flower appears very close to the viewer, while the windmill seems small in proportion and much further away. The fact that it and the blue flower in the lower right overlap the stone ... • 10. The Romantic Periods In the Romantic period a war and a battle took place, the era learned ways to spice up production, the play Faust was created, and there were connections between the time period and the play itself. The first war that took place was the French Revolution. The French Revolution began in 1789 and lasted until 1799. There were three estates in France but one of the estates was not being treated fairly so they decided to rebel. Finally, a Constitution was made and everyone was happy. The battle of Valmy took place September 20, 1792. Two French armies had some issues between themselves so of course the only way to resolve the problems was to go to war. After a few days of fighting both sides decided to negotiate and eventually the fighting ceased. In all the trauma that the war and battle cause though Goethe was able to find inspiration to write his play called Faust . In order to understand Faust you had to understand the trauma inflicted on the play s author by the French Revolution. (Kolonie) In order to deal with wars that were occurring Goethe spilled his feelings into his writing. In the play Faust the Devil and God make a bet that the Devil cannot make God s most promising scholar turn against him. The man ends up selling his soul to the Devil but just when the Devil thought he won the bet angels came down to take the dead man s soul up to Heaven. Every time we see something as kind of thing, for example, a tree, we are categorising. Whenever we reason about kinds of things (...) we are employing categories. Whenever we intentionally perform any kind of action (...) we are using categories . (Lakoff 1987: 6) We categorise all physical objects and motor activities we come across in our everyday life and we make decisions based on those categories. Without the ability to categorise, we could not function at all, either in the physical world or in our social and intellectual lives. An understanding of how we categorise is central to any understanding of how we think and how we function, and therefore central to an understanding of what makes us human . (Lakoff 1987: 6) Although traditional Aristotelian view on categories provides answers that differ from the recent research, both classical and cognitive theories see categorisation as crucial to understanding how human beings make sense of experience and how they communicate. • 16. Reflection On Career Development A. This lesson mainly addressed aspects related to career development. This lesson encourages students to discover their academic and personal strengths, their skillsets, and their interests. Students then take those concepts and apply them to career exploration. They are able to link their strengths, preferences, and abilities to potential future career paths. Some of the specific aspects of career development that I addressed include applying planning and career exploration in setting and obtaining lifelong career goals, applying necessary skills for career readiness and success, and teaching students where and how to obtain information about post secondary options. In this lesson students are encouraged to apply decision making skills to place different careers into the appropriate career fields. In doing so, they are also encouraged to begin thinking about careers that are of interest to them and what career goals they have for themselves. They will be given resources in order to continue career exploration outside of the classroom. While I do not expect sixth graders to fully decide their career path, it is my firm belief that it is never too early to get students thinking about careers and having them set goals in order to obtain the career and future that they desire. I also believe that this unit touches on social and emotional development as well as academic development. This lesson allows the student to collaborate with one another and work in groups as well as in pairs. This promotes relationship building and teamwork. It also allows students to take an inventory of their personal strengths and skillsets. This could boost self esteem and promotes a sense of self awareness. Lastly, this unit also encompasses academic development. Students will understand that good grades and academic success are key elements to obtaining the career that they wish to have. By being academically successful, this will allow them greater options and opportunity post high school graduation. B. Only problem is the speakers father is drunk and it hard to enjoy himself but he held on because the unconditional love he has for him, as the line says The Whiskey on your breath / could make a boy dizzy; / But I hung like death: (1 2 3). The impression that I get from My Papa s Waltz is that the boy s father is an alcoholic and irresponsible. I say this because as the father and the boy were playing around in the kitchen The unconscious father could of drop a hot pan that the mother could have been cooking on and cause serious damage. That to me shows that the father don t really think about the possibilities. On the contrary Those Winter Sundays Sundays too my father got up early (1) shows that the father is a hard workingman, that everyday of the week he is up early with cracked hands that ached / from labor in the weekday weather made (3 4). The speaker s father is a man that did hard labor to keep heat in the house and also made sure his son was looking sharp for example, polished my good shoes as well (12). Overall he was very responsible and loving even though the speaker didn t think so at the time seeing that he didn t show appreciation and no one ever thanked him (5). We suddenly saw something floating in the distance. It appeared to be an enemy ship approaching, but as it was drawn further in by the rolling tide, we could make out outlines of a human figure. Slowly but surely the waves pushed the mysterious being onto the shore. We dragged him over to the sand. Water began to sprout from his mouth like a newly dug up spring. The village was made up of only twenty odd wooden houses that had stone courtyards with no flowers and which were spread about on the end of a desert like cape. There was so little land that mothers always went about with the fear that the wind would carry off their children and the few dead that the years had caused among them had to be thrown off the cliffs. But the sea was calm and bountiful and all the men fitted into seven boats. So when we found the drowned man we simply had to look at one another to see that we were all there. That night the men did not work at sea. While the men went to find out if anyone was missing in neighboring villages, the women stayed behind to care for the drowned man. The woman took the mud off with grass swabs, they removed the underwater stones entangled in his hair, and washed him with soap and water. As they were doing that we noticed that the vegetation on him came from faraway oceans and that his clothes were in tatters, as if he had sailed through labyrinths of coral. But only when they finished cleaning him off did we become aware of the kind of man he was and it left them breathless. He was the tallest, strongest, most virile, and best built man we had ever seen. We could not find a bed in the village large enough to lay him on nor was there a table solid enough to use for him. In fact, Jacob s past life was to plunder Esau s birthright and blessing. Jacob was a thief and a bad fighter. So, in order to face Esau confidently, he urgently needed a true blessing gained through a fair fight. At that time, God was willing to fight with Jacob to give an opportunity to fight in a right way, to give a blessing through the new name, Israel. Irham Adhitya S 3617798 Acknowledging National Tobacco Strategy through Social Democracy Lens Introduction Australia is the world leader in tobacco control, as they became the first country that implemented plain package policy. Since December 2012, all tobacco products which are traded and brought to Australia must be in plain packaging in order to implement the National Tobacco Strategy (NTS) 2012 2018. (National Tobacco Strategy, 2012, p.27) The range of policies including health signs on packaging, mass media campaigns, bans on tobacco promotion, price increases, and controls on smoking and access to tobacco were implemented (ibid, p.1). As a result, 2014 2015 data shows that 14.5 percent aged 18 years and above were daily smokers (2.6 million adults), dropped from 16 percent in 2011 12. This reduction is a continuation of the trend over the past two decades. In 2001, 22.4 percent of adults smoked daily, while 23.8% of adults smoked daily in 1995 (Australian Bureau of Statistic, 2015). To recognise Australia s successes in handling tobacco problems, this essay will use social democracy perspectives as key theoretical frameworks to the National Tobacco Strategy in Australia. For instance, going from a timeframe system of all day school spanning from the early school years until high school and then shifting to a timeframe system that allows a lot more allotted free time is quite liberating and very welcome. Being trapped and confined to a single building for severals hours five days a week is not ideal for anyone. It s almost like being in a prison, as many students have described school for years. However, this new freedom, while it is welcomed, can also be disadvantageous because it can and will cause laziness because with more freedom the more people will put things off and I myself have fallen victim to this. Absolute monarchy was the solution to maintain order in society. Absolute monarchy allows a king to have complete authority to rule the state by divine right. Under absolute monarchy, the king has full power in all parts of the sate and parliament. Kings must be in control of all power and this power must not be shared to be successful under absolute monarchy. Effects Of Race On Housing Issues Essay Given evidence of the effect of race on housing issues, even as it relates to home ownership, an exploration of the empirical evidence in how it manifests within rental markets is necessary. One of the leading researchers in the contemporary study of eviction is Matthew Desmond. In Eviction and the Reproduction of Urban Poverty (2012), he combines statistical and ethnographic analyses to investigate the ramifications of eviction on the lives of the urban poor. The primary independent variable in this study was gender, while the dependent was eviction rates as a percentage. Half of his quantitative analysis involved extracting legal records or court ordered evictions that took place in Milwaukee County between 2003 to 2007 (n=29,960) ( Eviction and the Reproduction 91). Using addresses, eviction records were merged with population estimates of Milwaukee s 880 block groups ( neighborhoods ), and yearly eviction rates for each block group were calculated by gender and pooled to calculate annual averages (Eviction and Reproduction 94). Then risk ratios and differences were determined using 3 different samples: all groups with at least 1 male and female evictee, high poverty block groups where more than 40% of the population lived at or below 150% of the poverty line, and hyper segregated neighborhoods where at least 85% of residents were same race/ethnicity (Eviction and Reproduction 94). Voltage Between The Antenna And Antenna 3.6.6 Voltage Standing Wave Ratio There should be a maximum power transfer between the transmitter and the antenna for the antenna to perform very well. This happens only when the impedance Zin is matched to the transmitter internal impedance, Zs. In the process of accomplishing this particular configuration for an antenna to perform very well, there is always a reflecting power which leads to the standing waves, which is categorized by the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR). This is given by [30]: VSWR=V_max/V_min =(1+|Γ|)/(1 |Γ| )=(1+S_11)/(1 S_11 ) Eq. The Farm to Fork was an interactive public event promoting non GMO and organic food in order to achieve sustainability within Ontario. In order to describe the importance of this farmers market, Smithers et al (2008), provide a definition of what a farmers market contains in order to compare these elements to the industrial food system. I believe the definition that they provide is an accurate representation of what Farm to Fork wished to achieve. Smithers et al (2008), describe a farmers market as a complex an ambiguous space where notions of local, quality, authenticity and legitimacy find expression and transactions around food (p. 337). This paper seeks to not only understand alternative food markets but to also touch upon the activism promoted by various speakers and vendors. An analysis will also be provided on specific characteristics seen at this farmers market in comparison to course articles focusing on farmers market from other experiences. Lastly, exploring the farmers market will allow for a critical engagement on a comparison and contrast to the course concepts as well as raise questions on consumer knowledge and understanding. One of the objectives that this field trip ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The current programs available to culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students are numerous and are found throughout the U.S. The fact that educating CLD students has historically been a hot button issue so much that it is part of the political arena. The State of Texas has issued a Texas Education Code that includes laws and codes passed by the state legislature. These include adaptations for special learning populations of English language learners. The state mandated these policies found in the Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 89 was enacted to ensure that every student in the state of Texas that is classified as culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) will be a part of programs that provide native and second language instruction. • 44. A Child s Pursuit Of Happiness On January 23, 2016, Iowa, passed and sent a bill to the state Senate that makes it legal for children younger than the age of 14 to handle a pistol and ammunition as long as they are being supervised by a parent or another person. Most of the advocates for this new bill want this law not to ensure their child s safety from potential harm, but merely the right for their child to legally use a pistol for recreational purposes. The problem with this new law is that now countless citizens sense of security relies on whether a parent teaches their 1 14 year old how to correctly use a pistol. In 2015, statistics have shown that a 3 year old was twice as likely to injure or kill a person than a 5 17 year old child. In this situation, a child s pursuit of happiness should not infringe on another person s right to security. Most children do not have the ability to think rationally about their decisions. In 2013, a 2 year old in Kentucky was shot and killed by her 5 year old brother. Although there was no guardian supervision when the homicide happened, the child did not have the capability to understand how dangerous a gun can become. There have been hundreds of cases like the one mentioned previously happening throughout the United States. Studies have shown that children are less able than adults to make risky choices and comprehend the disadvantages and advantages of their choices. These studies support the basic belief that ... • 47. Optical Resonance Imaging ( Mri ) Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a technique that uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the organs and tissues within your body. MRIs are largely used in the medical field today because of their ability to create detailed images of the human body which can be used for diagnostic purposes. In 1971 a paper in the journal Science Raymond Damadian, an American physician and professor at the Downstate Medical Center State University of New York reported that tumors and normal tissue can be distinguished by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). He suggested that these differences could be used to diagnose cancer, though later research would find that these differences, while real, aren t consistent enough for diagnostic purposes. Damadian s initial methods were flawed for practical use, relying on a point by point scan of the entire body and using relaxation rates of the tissue in your body, which turned out not to be an effective indicator of cancerous tissue. During the 1970s a team led by John Mallard built the first functional full body MRI scanner at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. In August of 1980 they used this machine to obtain the first clinical image of a patient s internal tissue using Magnetic Resonance Imaging, which identified a primary tumor in the patient s chest, an abnormal liver, and a secondary cancer in his bones. This machine was later used at St Bartholomew s Hospital in London from 1983 to 1993. Mallard and his team ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
