Matching Dell
1. Analyzing Dell s value chain and competitive strategy, explain how Dell was able to succeed (build
competitive advantage) in the low profitable situation of the PC market.
Value Chain Analysis is a tool for analyzing the value creation system of competitors. Objective is to
develop a value creating system with competitive advantage. A value chain is a chain of activities.
Products pass all activities of the chain in order and at each activity the product gains some value. The
chain of activities gives the products more added value than the sum of added values of all activities.
It is important not to mix the concept of the value chain, with the costs occurring throughout the
activities. A diamond cutter can be used as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marketing / Sales While most competitors supplied machines based on orders from distributors,
resellers, retailers, Dell took orders directly from customers. Dell used indicators of a company s
potential PC purchases, such as the number of employees and the number of PCs per employee, to
divide customers into two groups: Relationship buyers and Transaction buyers.
Relationship buyers were large companies and institutions that could be counted on to place repeated
orders for multiple PCs. Dell assigned a team of outside sales reps and inside sales reps to each
Relationship account. Over a thousand outside sales reps spent their time in the field, understanding
customer needs, courting customer personnel, helping customers configure their information systems,
and promoting Dell s products and services. Inside sales reps, located in call centers, received
telephone calls from assigned customers. Because Relationship customers typically specified
particular PC configurations that their employees were allowed to order, the inside reps serving such
customers simply took orders and provided product and delivery information. Both inside and outside
sales reps had access to on line information about a customer s entire purchase history and worked
closely with Dell personnel responsible for after sale service and technical support.
Transaction buyers included small to medium businesses and home computer users. The company
reached these customers via advertisements in trade

10. (Universal) In the short story, The Possibility of Evil by Shirly Jackson suggest how Miss
Strangeworth can cause the opposite of what they intended by meddling. The Possibility of Evil made
me think about how people can be two faced. The town where she lived had to be kept clean and
sweet, so she thought people everywhere were evil and needed to be watched. She didn t like her
neighbors and she wrote bad letters for her neighbors, also she acted like a good person and she didn t
want to the neighbor deciphered her. I have seen this same situation before because of the evil within
ourselves. The two faced people won t be deciphered because they know if the people learn what they
doing, they will not like them anymore. I love how the short story show us what we should know. I
find upsetting is that the evil within people never end.

I Am A Great Leader
Leaders are everywhere and when I think of great leaders I have had the pleasure of interacting with,
the first ones that come to my mind are my Grandparents, Virgil and June Watts. After my first
thought, my mind floods with many other people who I consider great leaders but my Grandparents
are always the first that I think of as great leaders. My Grandpa taught me about hard work, respect,
the importance of family, and the ability to understand you may not always get along so you have to
learn to compromise sometimes. My Grandma taught me how to love, give to others, cook, and
provide for ourselves and others with what we have available. One of the most important thing my
Grandparents taught me though was, to have a passion and put one hundred percent into it. My
Grandpa with his love of music and entertaining people with playing music and my Grandma with her
love of sewing and making beautiful dresses and quilts.
I spent many nights and days with my Grandparents and often see them as playing the biggest role in
the person I turned out to be. When it comes to personal values and morals, I ve shaped most of mine
from what they have shown me. Although we disagree politically, I learned so much from them about
what it means to be a great leader. They taught me honesty, even when it gets myself in trouble.
Loyalty, is another trait that I learned from my Grandparents, even if it means standing up alone. They
taught me compassion, having the ability to show everyone kindness

Persuasive Speech About Civil War
Conservatives, Feuillants, Jacobins and the People of France, the time for peace has come. Our once
great nation is now deeply wounded and divided. If we want to heal this nation, we must first heal
ourselves. We must be wounded healers, instead of the wounded warriors that we are. We must set
aside our differences and work together to make France into the great nation it once was.
The revolution is over! I urge you to put down your weapons and stop. Look around at all the great
work we have done. We the people, finally have a voice, we have the power. Civil war is harmful to
both parties; for both the conquerors and the conquered, the destruction is the same (BK 48). If we
continue to fight, more blood will cover the streets of France. Blood of our friends and family
member, and possibly even our own. We have accomplished what we set out to do already, anything
more at this point will only cause us to lose who we were and what we believe.
We need to start to reconcile with ourselves and start helping our neighbors. Once we rebuild and
focus on the right, we too can become healthy once again. More men become good through practice,
than by nature (Bk 48). If we continue to focus on the bad, we will only become worse. We the people,
the country, even the world deserve better than what we have become and what we have done. If we
start to heal ourselves, we then can begin to heal the nation. It is only then we can start to become who
we want to become.

Multi Dynamic Range Of Video Game Essay
2016 Televisions
Of the latest generation in home television sets, High Dynamic Range (HDR) is the newest feature on
4K televisions. The LG B6 and the Samsung KS8000 televisions are two 4K television sets offered in
a 55 size that has differences that will appeal to either movie watchers or video game players based on
the latest HDR technology, picture quality, and input interaction.
One of the main things the 2016 television will catch consumers eyes is the most recent marketing
technology buzzwords. In the past, there has been 3D, which was poorly executed in recreating the
theater experience. Recently there has been UHD and 4K stamped on the boxes of televisions that
offer resolutions surpassing the standard 1080p HD resolution. For 2016 models, multiple
manufacturers have adopted a new technology format for High Dynamic Range (HDR), used to
display a wider color gamut. In standard terms, think of the bright highlights that you see from
outdoor lighting during sunsets shining on the crest of wakes in a river or ocean waves crashing onto a
wet sandy beach, paired with very dark shadows. HDR allows the natural range of lighting to be
shown on the 2016 model TVs. While HDR formatted content is required to make use of the new
hardware, streaming services such as Amazon Video, Netflix, and even Walmart s Vudu offers select
content with a HDR label. This new format could be compared to when surround sound became
available for home video. Audio still worked if you did not

The Different Versions of Psychoanalysis Essay
Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. It focuses on how humans
interact and function. It also deals with how to treat those who appear to be dysfunctional, either in
their thoughts, behaviors, or emotions (Huffman, 2012, p.532). In Chapter 14 of Psychology in Action
, we discussed psychological disorders and abnormal behaviors. Chapter 15 covers therapy. Therapy is
a remedial attempt to cure emotional, mental, or physical health problems ( Therapy Wikipedia, the
free encyclopedia ). When therapists deal with patients with psychological problems and mental
disorders, they use psychotherapy. Psychotherapy involves using specific techniques to improve the
psychological functioning of the patient. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second method of psychoanalysis is dream analysis. In dream analysis, the therapist interprets the
dream of the patient, explaining the manifest content and latent content. The manifest content is the
obvious verbal description. The latent content is the true, underlying meaning ( Dream Analysis ).
The third method of psychoanalysis is analysis of resistance. In therapy, patients often show
resistance, or unwillingness, to reveal their true feelings, thoughts, and motives. Instead they resist by
suddenly forgetting what they were saying, arriving late, not talking at all, or attempting to change the
subject. They resist because they fear that showing their vulnerable side may overwhelm them ( About
Psychology Resistance ).
Another method of psychoanalysis is analysis of transference. In this method, patients transfer their
unresolved emotions onto their therapist. This method is an essential element to psychoanalysis
because it happens automatically and unconsciously ( Transference Psychotherapy Treatment and
Psychotherapist Information ). In this stage, the patient begins to open up more, revealing the true
issues that they face. The final stage of psychoanalysis is interpretation. In this stage, the therapist uses
their knowledge from all of the previous methods to explain the underlying meanings to the patient.
Freud considered psychoanalysis an art of interpretation , because

Dead Zone in the Gulf of Mexico Essay
One World Essay: Dead Zone in the Gulf of Mexico
Scientific Reasoning:
The dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico is a human problem, like most other disasters. What this means
is that once the place thrived and was ecologically balanced, but we tipped the balance slightly and
wrecked havoc upon the environment. It has been noted to occur since the 1950 s and is ongoing. The
reason that this dead zone occurs is because of a phenomenon known as eutrophication.
Eutrophication is when there is an excessive amount of nutrients in a body of water and it causes an
abundance of plants to grow. In this case the nearby farms had been using nitrogen in their fertilizers.
The nitrogen got carried into the ocean through rain and other forms of ... Show more content on

Some species might thrive in conditions that other struggle to survive. For example some predators
might need more oxygen then a smaller prey. With less predators being around, there is a huge burst in
prey, which can eat up all of the bacteria. When the bacteria all die, the prey can t find any food and
all die out. This causes a very unreliable food chain and can be dangerous to live in. In hypoxic zones
what tends to happen is that marine life such as fish or shrimp die out quickly while the smaller
organisms live. This causes whole species to die out leaving a dominance of gelatinous creatures such
as jellyfish to thrive in. Economic Problems:
There are many economical problems due to the dead zone ranging from fisheries going out of
business to illnesses. The economical problems have paid their toll on nearby fishers whom in total
have paid over 10 billion US dollars to repair the problem. Sadly though, no matter how much they
pay, the problem is still on going. The gulf s massive fishing industry is trying to focus its efforts on
the parts that have been affected in an attempt to save their sea. According to many sources, EPA
views this problem as unimportant and hasn t helped yet. The reason that it is so hard to come to an
agreement is because there is no solution that pleases everyone. Right now the farmers up north of the
gulf are having an easy time because of easy and cheap waste disposal while downstream the fishers

During Marie s time, the atom was thought to be the smallest particle in existence. At first, Marie and
Pierre Curie believed that perhaps the atom was covered with cosmic rays. Marie tested numerous
elements to find if other ones than Uranium would make the air conduct electricity better.
Pierre was so interested in Marie s work, that he joined forces with her. Her research had revealed that
two uranium ores, pitchblende and chalcolite were much more radioactive that pure uranium. Marie
concluded that the highly radioactive nature of these ores may possibly be due to undiscovered
elements.
In July of 1898, Marie and Pierre Cure discovered Polonium. They named the element after Marie s
birth country, Poland. Chemically, this new element was very similar to bismuth, but it contained
radioactivity, so it must be new. In December of 1898, the Curie s discovered yet another element.
They named this one radium, from the Latin word for ray. The two new elements had completely
different chemical properties, but they both had very strong radioactivity.
It was not easy for Marie and Pierre to convince the science community of their new findings. Marie
succeeded in separating the radium from the barium, but it wasn t easy. She had to treat very large
amounts of pitchblende, but she had plenty of pitchblende to use. (The Curie s

The Involvement Of The Soviet Union
The involvement of the Soviet Union in Congo caused a numerous amount of problems. The Congo
was facing political and social instability because of the Belgian troops that were present and taking
control over the land at the time. This all led to the United States getting involved, they supported the
United Nations order to remove Belgian troops. The United States were supporting the UN but wanted
to have a stable, pro western regime through vote buying and financial support for pro Western
candidates, they believed that this could be achieved if they would assist the people of the Congo by
removing the Belgian forces. The Europeans had took it upon themselves to invade the Congo and
help the natives without receiving permission from the Prime Minister at the time, Prime Minister
Patrice Lumumba. Lumumba was enraged by this and grew resentment towards the Belgians which
created more conflict within the Congo, many external and internal factors affected the rise and fall of
the Congo nation which ultimately led to Congo being free from the Belgians in 1960.
The Belgians made efforts to improve education and medical care for the colony s people. However
they refused to give the people of Congo a voice in the government,( World Book Student | Article

Congolese participation in the government to clerical work. Over time, the Congolese people were

Essay on The Longest Day
quot; The Longest Day quot; was a mammoth project dramatizing D day, the Allied invasion of France.
It was nearly three hours in length and with an enormous ensemble cast, all playing supporting roles.
The production was very conscientious about realism, the actors were always of the same nationality
as their characters, and spoke in their native languages, leading to a lot of subtitles translating French
and German dialogue. Although the movie was historically correct, it was also meant to be a
blockbuster by starring John Wane, Robert Mitchum, Sean Connery and Henry Fonda. But The
American role in the invasion is not exaggerated, and the German soldiers and officers are not
portrayed as brutal stereotypes.

Given consideration that the film was made in early sixties these things are easily forgiven. The movie
did a very good job in focusing on Omaha beach where the allies had encountered most resistance. It
was the most restricted and heavily defended of all beaches. The Allies had assigned one veteran
division to this beach. Germans were fighting furiously to defend the beach, and the invasion of
Omaha was very close to failure, but due to grate leadership, the Allis were able to get inland. There
were 2 400 casualties in the fist 2 hours. The movie also showed the other four beaches but it didn t
focus on them as much as Omaha beach, and the air drop.
12000 aircraft supported the land invasion force, the plan was to divide the German forces, to ease the
landing on the beaches. The paratroops were suppose to be dropped off in a small aria between the
city, which was occupied by Germans, and the swamp aria, which was purposely flooded by the
Germans, and flank them. The movie did an amazing job in reproducing this event. Due to the bad
weather the man got scattered all over the place, people fell into wells, landed in trees, fell through the
roofs, and many had drowned in the swamp. One part of the movie shows an English solder landing in
a courtyard full of German solders. He was immediately apprehended and taken to German

7) All of those skills are helpful in life, and if you give those skills to a 6 year old, he will have a
greater chance to succeed. Rusel DeMaria, author of the book Reset: Changing The Way We Look At
Video Games, explains how video games can create good learning environments. In this heavily
researched book, DeMaria provides details on theories of human play, combining them with research
on modern learning habits to identify how and why video games can generate such effective learning
environments (par.8). DeMaria s analysis breaks down the learning power of games into five
interrelating components: motivation, immersion, identification, interactivity, and choice. These five
factors combine uniquely in video games. More so, arguably, than in books, lectures, or educational
videos. And players want to engage with games, and potentially learn from them, because of the
feedback, in the form of scores, or even through interaction with other characters, which provides
motivation. Graphics, sounds, and overall ambience immerse players. Immersion, engagement,
feedback these are all aspects of good learning environments. Finally, DeMaria asserts that games can
teach players to model complex systems and learn behaviors, languages, skills, and ideas. How s that
for a potential sales, or other employee, training tool? (par. 9) This learning environment created by
video games could ultimately replace training videos shown to first time employees like at

Covert Action Examples
As we seen in the readings, covert action is a third option in itself regardless of whether it is accepted
or not to US policy. The readings give many examples which present themselves as appropriate
actions to take in previous cases mentioned. One of the cases is the US involvement in the Afghan
Soviet War resulting in the Soviet Union withdrawing from Afghanistan. (Clark, 2007) This may be
interpreted as a future issue, but nonetheless giving assistance pushed the Soviets out of Afghanistan.
The paramilitary and equipment assistance given to the Mujahedeen gave them the ability to fight the
Soviet Invaders to the point of becoming detrimental and pushing the military force out. During WWII
an involvement of Covert Action became necessary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Hulnick, 2002) The times in which cover action is needed the most is when military action is too
large and political action will not have a substantial effect. The ability to use black propaganda would
discredit the organization and pull support the organization would need to survive. (Clark, 2007) With
paramilitary actions, the training and equipping of forces to counter the terror groups would be able to
bring the ability to strike without using large military forces. Essentially, parliamentary actions would
be using the indigenous population to become a proxy military. (Clark, 2007) The ability to affect the
terror groups and criminal elements with covert actions gives the ability to affect these groups actions
without having to use large scale military objectives and maintain the plausible deniability in the
instance where the operations fail. (Clark, 2007) The need for foreign policy remains, but in certain
cases having the ability to use covert actions bridges the gap. If an enemy cannot be reasoned with or
a rogue nation decides to place the US in its crosshairs for a Nuclear Strike, covert action is taken after
policy

Metaphors In Lolita
1. Briefly summarize the contents of the passage.
Nabokov begins the passage by explaining that authors often experience comfort from certain works
they ve written. He says that one book or another has special moments in it that represent something
delightful to the authors, just like some scenes in Lolita are dear to him. After he processed to describe
these moments, Nabokov starts talking about how readers often misjudge his works, don t understand
the real meaning of it, give it more credit even though it is simple a fictional novel, or even diagnose
him with depression and such based on the novel. He finally ends with vaguely telling people of what

The Mexican Revolution Of Mexico And The United States Essay
During the Mexican Revolution there were many prominent figures that emerged during the long
struggle. Some of the figures had a positive impact on the region, and some others a very negative
impact on the people of Mexico and their quest for an uncorrupted government. One figure that stands
out in the border region between Mexico and The United States during this time is General Francisco
Pancho Villa. To understand Pancho Villa s significant role during this uprising it is important to
understand who Villa was prior to the revolution, and what acts lead to his rise to power.
Francisco Pancho Villa (born Doroteo Arango on June 5th, 1878) was known as a bandit prior to his
life as a Mexican General. Villa was born to sharecropper parents on a hacienda in San Juan Del Rio,
Durango, Mexico. After the death of his father, Villa only in his teens became the head of his family.
Villa soon found himself on the run from the law and the Haciendas owner after he shot the man in the
foot after an altercation over Villa s sister; this is what led to him initially becoming an outlaw. While
on the run as a fugitive Villa adapted other well known bandito ways of making money including
robbing haciendas, and sticking up wealthy mine owners, this is also when he officially dropped
Arango and only used Francisco Pancho Villa (Katz, 1998). Some bits of folklore can be found when
describing Villa s actions during this time period. There are tales of him acting like a Robin

Body Image Of Young Women In The Fashion Industry
The fashion industry
Under society s customs for decades, young women have been put under the pressure and anticipation
to have perfect bodies. That is, thin and curved, beautified by applying pounds of makeup to their face
but not appear ridiculously overdone. Who s responsible for these standards imposed on young
women? When a young girl picks up the model along the cover of Vogue being called flawless, it s
easy for her to then aspire to be a real life imitation of the photocopy. These companies produce
magazine covers shown with girls images daily. As if keeping the perfect body wasn t hard enough our
culture also forces girls into the forever expanding world of composition, however, body image is a
surging subject for young women. Advertisements and pictures of lean female models are all over.
Girls are measured and perplexed by their physical appearances with attire intended to enhance a
facial expression; social media, magazines, the society, marketing campaigns and advertisements add
to a strain of excellence.
Young girls not only could be better but need to be more upright and feel driven to throw the perfect
figure. The fashion industry is a major target of body image issues, as they believe clothes look better
on tall and svelte women. Established on a survey participated by 13 to 17 year old in the U.S., 90%
felt pressured by fashion and media industries to be slick, with more than 60% routinely compares
themselves to models, while 46% will endeavor to attain

The set was a crucial factor in the production, which was displayed in multiple instances throughout
the show. The train piece, for one, was absolutely incredible and it appeared as if there was a lot of
detail and effort put into creating it. Even more, this item in a sense represents the different character
portrayals of May as she is going to Hollywood and departing from it. Another set piece that stood out
was the actual revolving glass doors. The craftsmanship of it alone is amazing and this is a creative
method in letting characters enter and leave the scene. Furthermore, the costumes helped in setting the
vibe of the time period. Above all are the flapper costumes worn by two of the actresses, which
created a rustic and energetic environment. The lighting played an important role in tying everything
together. It was dimmed at times and then brightened to place emphasis on the lead actors. In addition,
another element that was central to the production was the sound. I enjoyed the music that was present
in the short clips displayed throughout the scenes. Not to mention, the whistling of the train engine
made it feel as if you were there yourself. To conclude, the technical elements were marvelous by
themselves, but together they brought out a whole different degree of

A patent is a twenty year exclusive monopoly on the right to make, use and sell a qualifying invention.
This legal monopoly is considered a reward for the time and effort expended in creating the invention.
In return, the invention must be described in detail to the Patent Office, which publishes the
information, thus increasing the amount of technological knowledge available to the public. To obtain
a U.S. patent, an inventor must apply to the Patent Office and demonstrate that the invention is new
(as compared to prior technology), useful, and nonobvious. An invention is nonobvious if it is more
than a trivial, obvious next step in the advance of the technology. Software patents can be extremely
powerful economic tools. They can protect features of a program that cannot be protected under

compiling techniques, operating system techniques, program algorithms, menu arrangements, display

Lord Byron And Edgar Allen Poe
Lord Byron and Edgar Allen Poe were undoubtedly two of the greatest poets of the Romantic Era.
However, even though Lord Byron was European and Edgar Allen Poe was an American Romantic,
they had lived similarly tragic lives. Both Lord Byron, and Edgar Allen Poe, are famous for bringing
light to the darker side of emotion, frequently touching on such topics as despair and death. This is a
direct influence from their own dark and tragic lives. George Noel Gordon was born on January 22,
1788, in Aberdeen, Scotland. Born with a clubbed foot, for which he blamed his mother, and
abandoned at birth by his father, young Byron isolated himself for most of his unhappy youth. He
studied at the Aberdeen Grammar School, until the age of ten when he inherited his title from his great
uncle, the wicked Lord Byron , along with the family s English estate Newstead Abbey. Byron and his
mother Catherine would go on to live in the ruins of the large, but poor conditions of the estate until
his early emancipation by Mrs. Byron s attorney, John Hanson. Hanson had witnessed the torturous
treatments of young Byron s clubbed foot by a doctor named Lavendar. As well as the physical
advances by the child s nurse May Gray, and his mother Catherine s increasingly bad temper. He took
him to London, where a more reputable doctor prescribed a special brace, and sent him to a school in
Dulwich, then to Trinity College in Cambridge. It was here that Byron discovered a romantic interest
in men, adding to his already isolative and secretive persona. In 1803 Byron returned to Newstead
Abbey, where he courted his distant cousin Mary Chaworth. She soon grew tired of his lameness, and
her subsequent rejection led Byron to indulge his grief in a series of melancholic poems. 1806, he
anonymously published his first volume of poetry, Fugitive Pieces. The volume was labeled obscene
and received many negative criticisms due to its frank, erotic verses. Byron, at the request of a friend,
collected and burned all but four copies, the revised version of which would not be published until
after his death. The next year, however, Byron published his second volume, Hours of Idleness, which
received disturbingly negative reviews. This prompted Byron to

Sub optimization is an expression that describes a process, procedure or system results in less than
optimal results. (businessdictionary.com, n.d.) It also applies to the manner of focusing on one
component, making alterations to better that component and disregarding how this may affect the
other components. Sub optimization can be thwarted in any organization however, it takes
communication and a clear understanding of the organizations strategic goals.

Why is designing an effective organizational structure vital to the success of an organization?
Businesses require structure to be a successful money making venture. Designing an organization
structure helps the leadership identify what caliper and type of employees that needs to be hired into
the organization. With this in mind it is also important that employee responsibilities are clearly
defined. Each member needs to have a job description and each job is a needed and has its own slot on
the company s organizational chart.
Open communication and ease of flow is essential to a business s success. The organizational structure
should be designed to ensure that interdepartmental and employees have easy and open lines of
communication that are built into the structure. For instance the financial department may report to
both the CFO and President of Sales, because both of these leaders depend on information and reports
provided by the finance team.

topic immigrants struggle with is adapting to through culture. Maya in (MFC) struggles with this
because when she wants to fit in like an American such as, hanging with boys, not having many

Bob Marley Research Paper
Bob Marley is without a doubt one of the most inspirational songwriters the world has ever known.
Contrary to popular belief, most of Marley s writings were not ganja anthems, but hopeful songs about
redemption, social injustice, spiritual strength, and perseverance in the face of seemingly impossible
odds. Included here are my selections or Bob Marley s 10 most inspirational songs.
Number One: Zion Train ( Uprising ) 1980. Featured on Marley s 1981 album Uprising, every note of
this tune inspires. It is a song in which Marley s philosophic aphorisms ( Don t gain the world and lose
your soul / Wisdom is better than silver and gold ) are as impactful as the most simplistic, commonly
spoken adages (Oh, where there s a will / There s always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is one of Marley s most brilliantly penned songs.Number Seven: Duppy Conqueror ( Burnin ) 1974.
While Get Up, Stand Up is the most obvious choice from this album, that song was written by Peter
Tosh. On Duppy Conqueror, Bob, Peter and Bunny go ghost busting ( duppy means evil spirit). An
early Lee Scratch Perry production, Duppy Conqueror is a classic tune about good over evil ( Don t
try to cut me off on this bridge now / I ve got to reach Mt. Zion (the highest region) / So if you a
bullbucka (bad spirit), let me tell you this / I m a duppy conqueror! ).Number Eight: Trenchtown Rock
( Live! ) 1975. Trenchtown Rock is quite possibly the greatest ghetto anthem ever penned. It is a song
in which Marley recasts the ghetto experience from one of shame to one of pride ( Trenchtown rock /
Don t turn your back / Trenchtown rock / I say give the slum a try / Trenchtown rock / Never let the
children cry / Trenchtown rock or you got to tell Jah, Jah why ).Number Nine: The Heathen ( Exodus )
1977. Yet another Marley tune pitting good against evil, The Heathen is a rousing call to arms for the
righteous to take up arms against the wicked ( Rise up fallen fighters / Rise and take your stance again

Assimilation In Mike Resnick s Kirinyaga
A common story told in history is one society having a technological advantage over another society,
and imposing their will either through conquest or assimilation. In Mike Resnick s novel Kirinyaga,
the topic of European colonial assimilation is explored through a tale of a group of Kikuyu settlers on

through direct control, cultural examples, and technological temptation.
The people of Kirinyaga are only allowed to live on the planet, thanks to the charter established by

Tomato Production Of The Tomato Plant
BIG QUESTION where do tomatoes come from and how can we maximise yield?
Alex Cottam
Tomatoes are edible fruits of Solanum lycopersicum , More commonly known as the tomato plant.
The plant originated in central America. Tomatoes are used in many dishes across the globe but were
first used in mexico. Tomatoes are grown in temperate climates around the world however more hardy
strains have been produced meaning some can survive at lower temperatures however to maximise
yield lower temperatures are not ideal. In cooler areas of the globe they can be grown in greenhouses.
They grow ,depending on the strain, anywhere from one metre tall to 3 metres tall although bush
variates have the maximum yield. Being so tall the plant often cannot support itself as they have weak
stems therefore support is required ie canes, stakes etc.
The tomato plant is a perennial (grows back each year) in its native climate and grown as an annual
(only survives one year then dies from lower temperatures) in temperate climates. In the greenhouse
the plant needs to be kept above 16 degrees celsius and below 32 degrees , otherwise the enzymes will
become denatured. ideally between 22 26 degrees as this will best imitate its native climate.
Temperature is one of the limiting factors of plant growth so is one of the key factors to achieve a high
yield. In order to keep it at these temperatures a greenhouse should be used or they should be planted
in their native climate however a greenhouse is more ideal

Implementing A New Tracking System Essay
The situation surrounding the problem within the Office of Appeals is adapting from seeing things as
they are to seeing things as they could be. The Agency must take final administrative action on a
hearing within 90 days of the date of the initial request. Although, the 90 day time frame allowed
pursuant to regulations, the Agency makes every effort to conduct hearings promptly, and if possible,
render decisions in a shorter time frame. Therefore, the new tracking system will have a tremendous
impact on conducting the hearing within the allotted time.
It s time to move into the fast pace and changing technology world. The Office of Appeals must be
equipped with today s technology to ensure that our beneficiaries and stakeholders receive information
and assistance as quickly and efficiently as possible. Incorporating a new tracking system could serve
that purpose. By instituting a new tracking system, the Division of Medicaid could greatly improve the
quality or services it provides to its beneficiaries and stakeholders. A new appeal tracking system
would minimize the time in providing hearing notification to the beneficiaries we serve. By utilizing
the most recent program software, it will allow the Office of Appeals to thoroughly track an appeal

Humanity and Social Forces
Humanity has been trying to formulate an answer to the question of why we do what we do for years
and years. The field of psychology searches for the answer within us, that is to say, they examine the
internal forces that make us do what we do. However, sociology searches for the answer in terms of
external forces. Sociology sets out to prove that human behavior is controlled by forces of social
interaction, while in turn the behaviors of humans control the forces of social interaction in a cycle
that controls many aspects of life. The way in which people behave and conduct their lives can be
based on a plethora of factors such as social stratification. Through social stratification people are
grouped into social layers based on their property, power, and prestige (Henslin). Social locations also
play an important role in human behavior. Social class divides people based on income, education, and
occupation (Henslin). Social statuses allow division and labeling based upon different positions that
someone occupies. For example, a man is the CEO of a corporation, therefore one of his statuses is
CEO, which may cause others to treat him differently because of his status. Not only does his status
influence the people s behavior around him, it also influences his own behavior as a result of how he
is treated. However, while some social statuses are given, others you are born with. The term ascribed
status is used to describe a status with which one is born, such as gender

Strophion While women s breasts were sexualized to an extreme in modern society, the baring breasts

Greeks preferred small, firm, and round breasts, rather than the spongy ones. Strophion functioned as

Solution 1 Set Dr. Brooks up with a network account under each active directory domain: have him
log in to whichever one he needs access to at the time. Although he may be physically working from
MO1, he will likely still need to access resources from MO2 and vice versa.
This solution would involve creation of trust relationships between domains in the MO forest. The
administrator will create a transitive trust between MO1 and MO2.The MO1 where Dr.Brooks sits
would be the parent domain and the MO2 will be the child domain in the MO active directory forest.
The MO2 will automatically share resources with MO1 domain by default with authenticated users in
both domains. Dr. Brook will thus be able to access resources from both MO1 and MO2 medical

Politicians were having on their population. He emphasizes that politicians have learned the best way

people for the deterioration of the English language. I disagree that the rules Orwell provides in the
essay will fix the entirety of the English

Childhood Is Seen As A Horror Experience
Childhood is often seen as a carefree time where children are able to grow and learn from the world
around them. Many people have fond memories of their time as a child and would do anything to get
it back. However, in Barrie s Peter Pan, childhood is seen as a horror experience. This novel is read in
stark contrast to Walt Disney s popular movie version of Peter Pan. Disney s version shows three
children on the adventure of their life. But, Barrie s Peter Pan is the exemplar of the childhood horror
experience because of the actions of the characters of Mr. and Mrs. Darling, the actions of the
character Captain James Hook, and the dangers inherent of being a child in this anarchistic place
called Neverland. With a name like Darling one may assume that the holder of that name would be an
inherently good person. However, this is not the case with the characters of Mr. and Mrs. Darling in
Barrie s Peter Pan. The behavior of these two characters toward their own children allows the true
childhood horror experience to be shown. For example, when Wendy Darling was born, Mr. Darling s
first action as a father was to calculate whether or not he and his wife could afford to keep their infant
daughter. With his wife still in bed, Mr. Darling . . . sat on the edge of Mrs. Darling s bed, holding her
hand and calculating expenses, while she looked at him imploringly (Barrie 8). This action from Mr.
Darling expressed the horrible truth that he valued any wealth that he and his wife

The World Is Safer And Safer
The Titanic sank on 14 April 1912, after hitting an iceberg on its maiden voyage for underestimating
the tip of the iceberg. Correspondingly, the dangerous undercurrents that flowed beneath the
deceptively calm surface of the safe world are always easier to be omitted. It seems like that we are
living in a world where prosperity, happiness and wealth. A lot of data, such as GDP and compared
graphs, convinced people that the world is safe, whereas obscure the hidden hazards. Selective data
may make it look like the world is safer and better, but danger in minority as well as some threats and
problems, such as cyber attacks, drug resistant germs, food security and climate change, should also
be taken into consideration. People who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, stuff happens that sometimes confounds even the most imaginative forecasts. The
remarkable healing power of antibiotics invites widespread and, however, often inappropriate use.
This misuse and overuse of antibiotics leads to antibiotic resistance among bacteria and consequent
treatment complications. While endemic diseases like malaria, cholera, plague and the Ebola virus
weaken already vulnerable people, drug resistant germs arises which further undermines the desires,
being cured by drugs, of people. Since the above reason, it is clear that unpredicted changes are
supposed to be considered to properly weigh the fact. As I have mentioned in initial, the dangerous
undercurrents that flowed beneath the deceptively calm surface of the safe world are always easier to
be omitted. What will be indicated behind the mass data and graphs which always persuade people to
believe the safe world? To explore the potential danger under the tip of the ice berg, four main threats,
related to physical safety, biological /nuclear terrorism, food security, environment pollution, and
intangible danger, cyber attacks, should also be paid attention. Food security is definitely one of the
most serious problem. Food is necessary to human beings as water to fish, without which we cannot
live even will arouse the scramble for it, not to mention our safe.

Analysis Of The 57 Bus By Dashka Slater
Imagine yourself sleeping on a bus to wake up engulfed in flames and seeing people laughing at you
burning up. The book The 57 Bus by Dashka Slater talks about a real incident that occurred in
Oakland, California. The person that was set on fire on a bus was an 18 year old agender person
named Sasha Fleischman. Agender means that the person doesn t identify as male nor female and use
the pronouns they, them, their. They were set on fire by an 16 year old African American male named
Richard Thomas. Sasha is middle class, lives in the Oakland hills and attends a private high school at
Berkeley. Richard, on the other hand, is working class, lives in East Oakland and attends Oakland
High School. Richard at 16 was charged as an adult for putting ... Show more content on

When describing Oakland, Slater also explains how the wealthier you are the more benefits you have.
In the book it states, Gravity works backward here the money flows uphill. The wealthier
neighborhoods is in the hills boast good schools, low crime, and the views of the bay. (Slater, pg 7)
With this quote, Slater is pointing out that Sasha as a person in middle class was affected in a positive
way. They could go to better schools, live in a place where there was less crime. It would cause a
negative effect on others in the working class as they didn t have the same opportunities as people in
the middle class. The book also describes how being at a private school helped in Sasha being
accepted. In the book it states, People were nice to each other at Maybeck, accepting. But the school
still had social groupings. (Slater, pg 18) This quote is saying that class affected Sasha in a positive
way because in high school was accepting. If they were in the middle class it would have been
different since they wouldn t have been able to go to a small private school. Class did affect Sasha in a
negative way due to having better opportunities and benefits which affected how they were

The Assassination Of Mother Teresa
It was September the 10th, 1964 and World war 2 had only just come to a conclusion. Mother Teresa
sat on a piping hot train, on a hot summers day in Calcutta. She tried taking up as little space as
possible to avoid being crowded which she was to a great extent and deeply swelter. She was on a
train from Calcutta to the Himalayan foothills for a retreat. On this train ride Christ spoke to Mother
Teresa. She referred to this as her second calling and in her words it was a vocation to give up, even at
Loreto where I was very happy, to go out into the streets to serve . I want Indian Nuns, Missionaries of
Charity, who would be my fire of love amongst the poor, the sick, the dying and the little children, she
heard Christ say to her on the train in those very words. You are I know the most incapable person
weak and sinful but just because you are that I want to use you for my glory. Wilt thou refuse? . A
sensation of happiness rushed through her, even though she had been called weak she was honoured.
She was very quick to share her vision with her supporters, friends and members of the Loreto sisters
that she worked with. She was questioned about her call, and all the intentions and aims she had for
doing it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It took much time, and patience. After nearly a year and a half of pleading, in January 1948 she finally
received approval from the local Archbishop at the time: Ferdinand Périer to be able to complete what
Christ had asked her to do. She immediately started working, and after 6 months of simple medical
training, she left for her journey for the first time into Calcutta s slums with no more specific goal than
to aid the unwanted, the unloved, the uncared

Dell used indicators of a company s potential PC purchases, such as the number of employees and the number of PCs per employee, to divide customers into two groups: Relationship buyers and Transaction buyers. Relationship buyers were large companies and institutions that could be counted on to place repeated orders for multiple PCs. Dell assigned a team of outside sales reps and inside sales reps to each Relationship account. Over a thousand outside sales reps spent their time in the field, understanding customer needs, courting customer personnel, helping customers configure their information systems, and promoting Dell s products and services. Inside sales reps, located in call centers, received telephone calls from assigned customers. Because Relationship customers typically specified particular PC configurations that their employees were allowed to order, the inside reps serving such customers simply took orders and provided product and delivery information. Both inside and outside sales reps had access to on line information about a customer s entire purchase history and worked closely with Dell personnel responsible for after sale service and technical support. I Am A Great Leader Leaders are everywhere and when I think of great leaders I have had the pleasure of interacting with, the first ones that come to my mind are my Grandparents, Virgil and June Watts. After my first thought, my mind floods with many other people who I consider great leaders but my Grandparents are always the first that I think of as great leaders. My Grandpa taught me about hard work, respect, the importance of family, and the ability to understand you may not always get along so you have to learn to compromise sometimes. My Grandma taught me how to love, give to others, cook, and provide for ourselves and others with what we have available. One of the most important thing my Grandparents taught me though was, to have a passion and put one hundred percent into it. My Grandpa with his love of music and entertaining people with playing music and my Grandma with her love of sewing and making beautiful dresses and quilts. I spent many nights and days with my Grandparents and often see them as playing the biggest role in the person I turned out to be. When it comes to personal values and morals, I ve shaped most of mine from what they have shown me. Although we disagree politically, I learned so much from them about what it means to be a great leader. They taught me honesty, even when it gets myself in trouble. • 7. Persuasive Speech About Civil War Conservatives, Feuillants, Jacobins and the People of France, the time for peace has come. Our once great nation is now deeply wounded and divided. If we want to heal this nation, we must first heal ourselves. We must be wounded healers, instead of the wounded warriors that we are. We must set aside our differences and work together to make France into the great nation it once was. The revolution is over! I urge you to put down your weapons and stop. Look around at all the great work we have done. We the people, finally have a voice, we have the power. Civil war is harmful to both parties; for both the conquerors and the conquered, the destruction is the same (BK 48). If we continue to fight, more blood will cover the streets of France. Blood of our friends and family member, and possibly even our own. We have accomplished what we set out to do already, anything more at this point will only cause us to lose who we were and what we believe. We need to start to reconcile with ourselves and start helping our neighbors. Once we rebuild and focus on the right, we too can become healthy once again. More men become good through practice, than by nature (Bk 48). If we continue to focus on the bad, we will only become worse. We the people, the country, even the world deserve better than what we have become and what we have done. If we start to heal ourselves, we then can begin to heal the nation. In therapy, patients often show resistance, or unwillingness, to reveal their true feelings, thoughts, and motives. Instead they resist by suddenly forgetting what they were saying, arriving late, not talking at all, or attempting to change the subject. They resist because they fear that showing their vulnerable side may overwhelm them ( About Psychology Resistance ). Another method of psychoanalysis is analysis of transference. What this means is that once the place thrived and was ecologically balanced, but we tipped the balance slightly and wrecked havoc upon the environment. It has been noted to occur since the 1950 s and is ongoing. The reason that this dead zone occurs is because of a phenomenon known as eutrophication. With less predators being around, there is a huge burst in prey, which can eat up all of the bacteria. When the bacteria all die, the prey can t find any food and all die out. This causes a very unreliable food chain and can be dangerous to live in. In hypoxic zones what tends to happen is that marine life such as fish or shrimp die out quickly while the smaller organisms live. This causes whole species to die out leaving a dominance of gelatinous creatures such as jellyfish to thrive in. Some of the figures had a positive impact on the region, and some others a very negative impact on the people of Mexico and their quest for an uncorrupted government. One figure that stands out in the border region between Mexico and The United States during this time is General Francisco Pancho Villa. To understand Pancho Villa s significant role during this uprising it is important to understand who Villa was prior to the revolution, and what acts lead to his rise to power. Francisco Pancho Villa (born Doroteo Arango on June 5th, 1878) was known as a bandit prior to his life as a Mexican General. Villa was born to sharecropper parents on a hacienda in San Juan Del Rio, Durango, Mexico. After the death of his father, Villa only in his teens became the head of his family. Villa soon found himself on the run from the law and the Haciendas owner after he shot the man in the foot after an altercation over Villa s sister; this is what led to him initially becoming an outlaw. While on the run as a fugitive Villa adapted other well known bandito ways of making money including robbing haciendas, and sticking up wealthy mine owners, this is also when he officially dropped Arango and only used Francisco Pancho Villa (Katz, 1998). • 22. Body Image Of Young Women In The Fashion Industry The fashion industry Under society s customs for decades, young women have been put under the pressure and anticipation to have perfect bodies. That is, thin and curved, beautified by applying pounds of makeup to their face but not appear ridiculously overdone. Who s responsible for these standards imposed on young women? When a young girl picks up the model along the cover of Vogue being called flawless, it s easy for her to then aspire to be a real life imitation of the photocopy. These companies produce magazine covers shown with girls images daily. As if keeping the perfect body wasn t hard enough our culture also forces girls into the forever expanding world of composition, however, body image is a surging subject for young women. Advertisements and pictures of lean female models are all over. Girls are measured and perplexed by their physical appearances with attire intended to enhance a facial expression; social media, magazines, the society, marketing campaigns and advertisements add to a strain of excellence. Young girls not only could be better but need to be more upright and feel driven to throw the perfect figure. Another set piece that stood out was the actual revolving glass doors. The craftsmanship of it alone is amazing and this is a creative method in letting characters enter and leave the scene. Furthermore, the costumes helped in setting the vibe of the time period. Above all are the flapper costumes worn by two of the actresses, which created a rustic and energetic environment. The lighting played an important role in tying everything together. It was dimmed at times and then brightened to place emphasis on the lead actors. In addition, another element that was central to the production was the sound. I enjoyed the music that was present in the short clips displayed throughout the scenes. However, even though Lord Byron was European and Edgar Allen Poe was an American Romantic, they had lived similarly tragic lives. Both Lord Byron, and Edgar Allen Poe, are famous for bringing light to the darker side of emotion, frequently touching on such topics as despair and death. This is a direct influence from their own dark and tragic lives. George Noel Gordon was born on January 22, 1788, in Aberdeen, Scotland. Born with a clubbed foot, for which he blamed his mother, and abandoned at birth by his father, young Byron isolated himself for most of his unhappy youth. He studied at the Aberdeen Grammar School, until the age of ten when he inherited his title from his great uncle, the wicked Lord Byron , along with the family s English estate Newstead Abbey. Byron and his mother Catherine would go on to live in the ruins of the large, but poor conditions of the estate until his early emancipation by Mrs. Byron s attorney, John Hanson. Hanson had witnessed the torturous treatments of young Byron s clubbed foot by a doctor named Lavendar. As well as the physical advances by the child s nurse May Gray, and his mother Catherine s increasingly bad temper. He took him to London, where a more reputable doctor prescribed a special brace, and sent him to a school in Dulwich, then to Trinity College in Cambridge. It was here that Byron discovered a romantic interest in men, adding to his already isolative and secretive persona. In 1803 Byron returned to Newstead Abbey, where he courted his distant cousin Mary Chaworth. She soon grew tired of his lameness, and her subsequent rejection led Byron to indulge his grief in a series of melancholic poems. 1806, he anonymously published his first volume of poetry, Fugitive Pieces. The volume was labeled obscene and received many negative criticisms due to its frank, erotic verses. Byron, at the request of a friend, collected and burned all but four copies, the revised version of which would not be published until after his death. The next year, however, Byron published his second volume, Hours of Idleness, which received disturbingly negative reviews. This prompted Byron to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Tomato Production Of The Tomato Plant BIG QUESTION where do tomatoes come from and how can we maximise yield? Alex Cottam Tomatoes are edible fruits of Solanum lycopersicum , More commonly known as the tomato plant. The plant originated in central America. Tomatoes are used in many dishes across the globe but were first used in mexico. Tomatoes are grown in temperate climates around the world however more hardy strains have been produced meaning some can survive at lower temperatures however to maximise yield lower temperatures are not ideal. In cooler areas of the globe they can be grown in greenhouses. They grow ,depending on the strain, anywhere from one metre tall to 3 metres tall although bush variates have the maximum yield. Being so tall the plant often cannot support itself as they have weak stems therefore support is required ie canes, stakes etc. The tomato plant is a perennial (grows back each year) in its native climate and grown as an annual (only survives one year then dies from lower temperatures) in temperate climates. In the greenhouse the plant needs to be kept above 16 degrees celsius and below 32 degrees , otherwise the enzymes will become denatured. ideally between 22 26 degrees as this will best imitate its native climate. Temperature is one of the limiting factors of plant growth so is one of the key factors to achieve a high yield. In order to keep it at these temperatures a greenhouse should be used or they should be planted in their native climate however a greenhouse is more ideal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Humanity and Social Forces Humanity has been trying to formulate an answer to the question of why we do what we do for years and years. The field of psychology searches for the answer within us, that is to say, they examine the internal forces that make us do what we do. However, sociology searches for the answer in terms of external forces. Sociology sets out to prove that human behavior is controlled by forces of social interaction, while in turn the behaviors of humans control the forces of social interaction in a cycle that controls many aspects of life. The way in which people behave and conduct their lives can be based on a plethora of factors such as social stratification. Through social stratification people are grouped into social layers based on their property, power, and prestige (Henslin). Social locations also play an important role in human behavior. Social class divides people based on income, education, and occupation (Henslin). Social statuses allow division and labeling based upon different positions that someone occupies. For example, a man is the CEO of a corporation, therefore one of his statuses is CEO, which may cause others to treat him differently because of his status. Not only does his status influence the people s behavior around him, it also influences his own behavior as a result of how he is treated. Many people have fond memories of their time as a child and would do anything to get it back. However, in Barrie s Peter Pan, childhood is seen as a horror experience. This novel is read in stark contrast to Walt Disney s popular movie version of Peter Pan. Disney s version shows three children on the adventure of their life. But, Barrie s Peter Pan is the exemplar of the childhood horror experience because of the actions of the characters of Mr. and Mrs. Darling, the actions of the character Captain James Hook, and the dangers inherent of being a child in this anarchistic place called Neverland. With a name like Darling one may assume that the holder of that name would be an inherently good person. However, this is not the case with the characters of Mr. and Mrs. Darling in Barrie s Peter Pan. The behavior of these two characters toward their own children allows the true childhood horror experience to be shown.
