Morality In Antigone
Uniqueness is a feat all on its own. Oftentimes, many feel as though they will be
judged or ostracized from society for being different from others. In Antigone, a play
written by Sophocles, the main protagonist encounters opposing forces that try to
cease her chances of morally accomplishing an honest and just deed. Antigone, the
main protagonist, is left to essentially fend for herself against the woes of society
and their beliefs. As Antigone refuses to comply, revelations are made about herself
and others that contribute to the morals and ethics of the conflicts made. Morality
plays a significant part in the play; it is emphasized greatly by Antigone as she
attempts to bury the body of her brother, Polyneices. She emphasizes her reasons
The Psychosocial Burden Of Food Allergies On Humans
Josh Greenspan
Idiots Guide
Currently, I am studying the psychosocial burden of food allergies on humans. This
burden can cause severe stress and anxiety. Before I started that topic, I needed to
learn about the main problem food allergies. Essentially, An allergy is an
overemphasized reaction by the immune system in response to exposure to certain
foreign substances. It is exaggerated because these exotic substances are usually seen
by the body as harmless and no response occurs in nonallergic people. In allergic
individuals, the body recognizes the foreign substance and the immune system
generates a response.
The importance and benefits of psychosocial allergy research and just purely allergy
research is shown in several ways. Some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Then, the IgE molecules are differentiated into extremely specific sub categories.
Then, the IgE s will attach to the allergen and create an antigen antibody complex.
Then, the complex will bind to a mast cell, which provokes the mast cell to release
certain chemicals such as histamine and serotonin. This causes allergic symptoms,
but I will get into that section later in the paper. An allergic response might lead to
anaphylactic shock, a life threatening reaction that will happen in seconds after the
initial intake of the allergen.
Diagram 1 (freshlife.com)
What happens during anaphylaxis? Anaphylaxis is a severe, life threatening allergic
reaction. It will most likely occur within seconds or minutes of exposure to the
allergen. Anaphylaxis needs an immediate trip to the ER and an injection of
epinephrine. If anaphylaxis is not treated immediately, the victim will most likely
die. Anaphylaxis is fatal and causes around 100 150 deaths a year. Fatalities can
easily be prevented if anaphylaxis is treated at first sight. Currently, around the
world, 0.5 2% of people have been estimated to have experienced anaphylaxis at some
point in life, and rates seem to be ascending.Cardiovascularly, heart spasms might
happen with quickly onset arrhythmia or cardiac arrest(heart attack).People with
clinical heart defects are prone to cardiovascular problems with anaphylaxis. The

Guidance Of Pressure Compressions
2.1.3. Guidance for obtaining accurate measurements
In practice, strain measurements are usually below a few millistrain. Therefore, the
changes in resistance need to be measured accurately.
Temperature coefficient of gauge factor is the change of sensitivity of the element to
change its length with change in temperature. A fixed resistance in the input leg can
be introduced to compensate for it. As a result, the effective supplied voltage
increases when temperature increases. This compensates for the decrease in
sensitivity.
When more than one strain gauge are used, the temperature coefficient of gauge
factor might be different, there will be a zero shift with temperature. One or more
resistors can be placed on the compensation network ... Show more content on

Secondly, record the imaging parameter and the orientation for each sensor with
respect to each other, so that the position of each object point in the x, y and z axis
can be calculated.
Thirdly, calculate the position of each object point in the images by applying a
correlation algorithm with the use of a stochastic intensity pattern on the object
surface.
Fourthly, the tracked grey value pattern is the basis of the correlation algorithm. The
pattern is transformed because of the loading applied to the object. The following
equations illustrate the transformation, and the results are calculated using softwares.
Equation 3: Gt(xt, yt)=g0+g1G(xt, yt)
Equation 4: x1=a0+a1x+a2y+a3xy
Equation 5:y1=a4+a5x+a6y+a7xy
Finally, the results are plotted on computers and can be used to represent different
measurements, including calibration, contour measurement, deformation
measurement, strain calculation and more.
2.2.3. Guidance for obtaining accurate measurements
Sub pixel resolutions are obtained are the algorithms are allowed to be executed
efficiently by the development of software techniques. High resolution measurements
are performed, leading to the commercially available digital photography, which can
be used to measure surface deformation down to one part per million of images. The
use of suitable software techniques
The sources of the images vary from digital cameras, macroscopes, microscopes,

Taking a Look at Hurling
Hurling is believed to be the worlds oldest and fastest paced sport in history. Its
roots have prehistoric origins and have been played for over 3,000 years, even older
than recorded history of Ireland, which is its national game of play. The history itself
of hurling is longer than the Bible and often unclear. Nonetheless hurlingis an
incredible sport full of rich history and a truly rigorous sport.
Since hurling is not a well known sport to us Americans, I m going to give a brief
background of the sport and how it is played. Hurling is an outdoor team game; each
team consists of 15 players on the field aka Hurlers . The field of play is relatively
the same shape of a rugby field but just a bit larger: 140 160 yards long and 90 100
yards wide (Hurling GAA). Scoring is a mix of American football and soccer. At
each end of the field are an H shaped goalpost; the soccer type goal and a field goal
type extension on top of that. If the ball (sliotar) is struck inside the bottom net,
that team is rewarded three points, if the ball is struck and goes in between the top
field goal posts the team gets one point. The equipment of the game consists of a
ball, sliotar that is roughly the size of a baseball but with raised ridges. The stick
called a hurley, roughly 40 inches long, shaped like a field hockey stick is curved
outwards at the end to provide a larger striking surface for the player. The only
protective gear worn is a helmet with a faceguard, which before 2010 was not
Abandonment In Sophocles Elektra
Abandonment s Effect on Orge in Sophocles Elektra, lines 1026 1048 Most of
today s society is well aware of our five stages of grief; we watch character and
close friends sift through denial, anger, bargaining, depression and ultimately,
acceptance. It s common to find people stuck in a stage, unwilling to or unable to
let past events continue to affect their present state of mind. Modern reader s can
find a similar system in Greek tragedies, perhaps with a bit more punch, and there is
no play where this is clearer than Sophocles Elektra. Elektra s character dominates
the page and the plot, driving characters to their destinies with fervor comparable to
Fast Furious. The greater share given to her character by her lineage is represented...

The word that gets me in this passage is favor because it contrasts so beautifully
with the previous use of stolen and bereft. This is a woman who has had
everything taken from her against her will. She feels enslaved, powerless, and
hopeless. And yet, she says that the people she despises can do her a favor, an act
of kindness beyond what is due. This reversal is so perfectly emblematic of her
change from rage to hopelessness. Elektra no longer wants to do something to the
people that did her an injustice; she wants them to do something to
My Journey In Life
My childhood was a happy one, for a moment at least. The first seven years of my
life had gone by in a flash living in Bear, Delaware. I don t know if I had so much
fun that somehow, I transported myself into the future. The next thing I knew my
family along with the new addition of my younger brother Ethan was moving to
Powder Springs, Georgia. This tendency to stop and look at my existence at specific
points in my life continued through 6th grade with the familymoving again to Dallas,
Georgia. Fast forward a few years after 8th grade my family and I moved for the
last time to West Chester, Pennsylvania. I have moved a lot and it caused a lot of
stress and uncertainty but I don t regret it for a second, because from this
constantly winding journey I learned one important lesson. There are challenges
and obstacles everywhere you go but your reaction to the situation will decide how
successful you will be in life. What doesn t kill you makes you lose the will to live.
, was how I looked at every challenge. On this path of growth and maturity, I started
to notice things about how my reactions to events painted the experience and how I
tried to handle the situation. My mother always said to me You are getting older and
I cannot always be there to help you. You must choose if you want to become a fixer
or a victim. I felt as if I was a victim when I was younger especially when I had no
control. As I got older and started to realize why we moved so much, I realized you
Are It Is Time Consuming When Analyzing The Data And It
are it is time consuming when analyzing the data and it can be expensive when
transcribing. The use of informed consent is important regardless of what research
method is taking place. For example, in the article, before carrying out semi structure
interview, it shows the researcher had given out informed consent to the schools and
approached potential participants to explain the study (Wan Neihart, 2015). It is
acceptable for the researcher to encourage the participants but this should not run the
risk of coercing the participants (Matthew Ross, 2010). Under BERA s ethical
guidelines it is unacceptable to coerce participants as they should have the freedom to
choose. Another ethical issue was confidentiality. It is important to... Show more

For example, in the study an initial pilot procedure was conducted using 12 female
year 7 pupils (Elliott Hoyle, 2014, pg 6). This increases reliability, validity and
gains some feedback from the respondents based on whether the questionnaire can
be easily understood (Cohen,. et al, 2011). In contrast, to interviews this can be
difficult to achieve because the researcher asks a slightly different question to each
participant according to the flow of discussion and compared to questionnaires,
interviews are time consuming to carry out a trial (Cohen,. et al, 2011). Another
benefit is that the researcher can collect a large amount of data in a short amount
of time. The evidence is in the article where the researcher hands the questionnaires
to the teacher so he can give it to the students, and explains how to administer the
questionnaire (Elliot Hoyle, 2014). This shows the researcher saves time.
Compared to interviews, questionnaires are easy to analyze and results can be
generalize to get an overview of why girls do not want to participate in physical
Education (Elliott Hoyle, 2014). However, generalization is difficult in interviews
because different people have different opinions. One weakness I found in this
article was the questionnaire design as the researcher used rating scales. For
example, the researcher provided two options which were 1= strongly disagree and
How To Build Verbonia
The design of the city Verbonia required both intelligence and physical strength,
and without these two components, the city would have been much harder to
build. The people who helped build the city were a mixture of smart and strong, as
they had to be in order to make some of the things that happened, happen. In order
to make plans for buildings and division of the land, there had to be intelligent
people to plan out the ideas so that they would work. For example, the intelligent
people knew that they would need to divide the land into blocks, so they divided
the land into a chessboard like design, with almost all of the blocks being 80 square
yards. They also knew that food and water had to be accessible by all of the people,
which is why they placed public water fountains, the aqueduct that would bring the
water, and a central food market, along with public baths and toilets. The cityhas a
social Hierarchy, where the emperor has the most power, and the laborers had the
least. The city planners also created a good economy, where people had to pay for the
construction of their own house, which could not happen in the first place if there
were not construction workers, bringing up the necessity of the physical strength that
was involved in the buildingof this town.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The inexperienced workers would lift rocks from the earth, while the skilled
laborers carved, cut, or polished the stones. They would cut the rocks with saws,
and if the rock was too dense for saws to be used, they would drill holes into where
the rock had to be cut, and stick wood down the holes, then get the wood wet so that
it would expand and break the rock. They also found clay in large pits in the ground,
and they would send them to the factories, where they were made into tiles and
Demographic Trends And Its Effects On Health Care
Demography is the study of the population grounded on various factors such as sex,
economic status, age, race, and the level of technology, the level of income, the level
of education, employment, and so forth. Demographics are primarily used by the
governments, non government organizations, and corporations to get the adequate
information about the characteristics of the populationfor the purpose of development
of policy, and the research of the economic market. On the other hand, demographic
trends are also imperative because the demographic sizes of various ethnic groups
would change over the period as the result of political, economic, and cultural
circumstances. At the end of this essay, the reader would understand demographic
trends lead to social changes in the US, its effects on the health care in the US, and
how some of such demographic trends would be reduced to drive down the cost of
health care (Coulter, 2012).
Tracking the demographic trend is challenging because the availability of data does
not usually keep up with the social changes pace, or due to the constant change of
its definition over time. For instance, the U.S Census Bureau (USCB) commenced
providing the reporting counts for a couple of the same sex and cohabiting couples
in 1976 and the individuals of more than one race in 1990 (Cutle, 2007). According
to the research that was carried out by the USCB in 1997, the demographic
projections revealed three primary trends that affect the U.S as far as
Higher Learning Movie Analysis
In the movie Higher Learning many characters face different situations, and the
character that appeals to me, or that identify myself as, would be Fudge. The
reason why Fudge is because; he encourages his friends to not look at a book for
just an assignment, but to look into the book, and learn from it. I read books from
time to time, and I read it to analyze its not just for an assignment, and I try to
encourage friends to read it. Another Reason why I consider myself to be like Fudge
is because, he looks out for his friends or like, he considers it his homies I would look
out for my friends, and only they earned it I just won t look out for a friend who
fools around all the time. However I m not fully like Fudge because, he would deal...

Another Issue was the race stereotype, I don t know what the producers were
thinking, but there were a lot of stereotypes like having all neo Nazi s look bald,
and like skinheads who are out to wipe out the other entire race. I know they are
racist, but they wouldn t take it too far as a school shooting they just don t like to
be around other races. Also on how they had look at my own people the Hispanics
they couldn t have just said that instead of saying Mexican like every ignorant
person who don t know the diversity of the Latino culture it didn t bother me, but I
knew that the movie would have the perspective of people that aren t diverse.
However they could ve lower the racism I know the actors don t mean it, but
instead of calling everyone an N word they could ve given another term because the
N Word isn t suppose to be used by any other race besides African Americans overall
the movie look and felt like a segregated community, until the end which united
everyone at the festival, until Remy attacked the school which happens in real life
situations. The movie overall got enough controversy to become noticeable. Even
though the movie took place in a college campus there are some fears about

This is just one of several stories that I ve been told but they all share a common
interest and that is people from all corners of their respected country are coming
together for a sole purpose and that is too demand change and equality of life. They
have been feed up with there self respected governments and now are demanding
changes be taken swiftly. Perfect example would be the civil war that is occurring
in Syria, long and inhuman battles are being fought countless lives have been lost
along with the destruction of many homes. Actions are being taken by
organizations and countries to provide aid and basic needs for living, but it maybe
too late. Professionally I know I have the desire and will to offer more to this

Allied Strategic Bombing
Allied strategic bombing of Germany during the Second World War was, in the
main, significant. The key themes to be looked at in this essay are the effects that
Allied Strategic Bombing had on the dislocation and demoralisation of German
civilians; Germany s economic ability to produce and transport goods for the war
effort; other key aspects of the war and the German war effort and, finally, its impact
on the USSR. The evidence of the effectiveness of Allied Strategic Bombingof
Germanystrongly suggests that it became more significant throughout the war,
especially after the first one thousand bomber raid on Cologne in May 1942, and
although not decisive on its own, was significant in the final outcome of the Second
World War.

Whilst the significance that it had on the German home front may have been more
limited than hoped for, it succeeded in dislocating and demoralising German
civilians. Whilst its effect on Germany s economic ability to produce and transport
goods for the war effort may have been mostly limited, its effect on the transport
infrastructure of German was of critical significance. Perhaps the most significant
effect was bombing s impact on other areas of the war and the German war effort
because of how it saved thousands of potential casualties and facilitated the D Day
landings. Its impact on the USSR in terms of both keeping them as an ally and
easing their invasion was also of great significance. The overall outcome from
Allied Strategic Bombing may have been highly significant, but we must not fail to
neglect the cost at which such a result came. 44.4% of Bomber Command crews
failed to return from their missions (55,573) and over 18000 were wounded or
became prisoners of war. 8,325 aircraft were lost and 1,030,500 tons of bombs were
dropped. Despite the cost at which Allied Strategic Bombing came at, the evidence
supports the argument that the Allied Strategic Bombing of Germany during the
Second World War was significant to a large

It is Impossible to Accurately Imagine What is it like to be a Bat
Insofar as I can imagine this (which is not very far), it tells me only what it would
be like for me to behave as a bat behaves. But that is not the question. I want to
know what it is like for a bat to be a bat... Thomas Nagel
In order to take the above request seriously, one must assume that bats have
experience and consciousness. Assuming so, one must then imagine the
consciousness that a bat must live with. Its brain is designed to correlate outgoing
impulses with subsequent echoes, and the information thus acquired enables the bat
to make precise discriminations of distance, size, shape, motion, and texture
comparable to those we make by vision. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Is a bat aware of its own existence? If a bat is not aware of its own existence, then
the above question is immediately answered: a bat simply flutters around carrying
out its activities of life, experiencing nothing, just living. If a bat is aware of its
existence, there are infinitely more questions to be raised to discover exactly what life
as a bat is like.
Many would argue that the key difference between the human consciousness and
that of a bat is vision I disagree. In order to see its world, a bat relies on sound and
echoes to create the complex world that a human sees by vision; is that a key
difference? The difference in the electromagnetic sound waves and light waves is
little more than wavelength and frequency, therefore it is very reasonable to assume
that a bat s vision is nearly as accurate as a human s, perhaps better if the bouncing
waves are sent frequent enough to produce a constant image.
Vision is not a key difference, but only an integral part of the sensory system that
produces any creature s consciousness. For the most accurate depiction, one would
need to know how a bat s senses of smell, taste, and touch compare to that of a human
s, or more importantly, how a bat thinks. Humans have developed many complex

Discrimination is a sociological term referring to the treatment taken toward or
against a person of a certain group in consideration based solely on class or category.
Discrimination is the actual behavior towards another group. AIDS and HIV related
stigma and discrimination refers to prejudice, negative attitudes, abuse, and
maltreatment directed at people living with AIDS and HIV. In Philadelphia Andy
was scorned by his lawyer, and also his employers, because they thought they he
could give them the disease by being around them, and also the fact that he was a
homosexual turned their spirits from him. Persons living with the disease are
abandoned by family, friends, and the community. These persons are mistreated and
at times get poor treatment in health facilities and education settings. At one scene in
the movie Andy was ask by the librarian to use the private research room to do his
research because other persons weren t comfortable being around him in the library.
At times they feel like they have no rights, they are psychologically damaged and this
will cause them not to get tested or get treatment. AIDS stigma and discrimination
exist basically everywhere: in the church, communities, countries, and among
individuals. According to the UN secretary General Stigma not only makes it more
difficult for people trying to come to terms with HIV and manage their illness on a
personal level, but it also interferes with attempts to fight the AIDS epidemic as a

Bali
Tourism has several impacts on many different aspects of Bali s society. Tourism has
impacted on the already existing, social, economic, cultural and environmental
processes of the island. For example, as a result of tourism the pace of urbanisation
has rapid increased and tourism has sped up the process of economic development.
There are large economic consequences on the economy of Bali. One significant
impact on Bali is the foreign exchange earnings. Tourism is the fourth largest income
earner for Indonesia at around US 5.5 billion (2003). Tourism is very labour
intensive, with the influx of tourists more services are required thus leading to more
creation of jobs, even though it increases job opportunities and higher paying jobs, ...

The social and cultural processes are also significantly impacted. Tourism has
helped develop and keep up the unique culture of the island, it has helped revive
artistic traditions, and has provided an economic justification for preserving them.
But tourism has also led to importantly behavioural impacts, for example; nude
sunbathing by tourist is widely disliked by the locals, as well as that lack of respect
is shown by tourists in scared places such as temples. Another negative impact is the
social development of Bali. There are constant conflicts between local villagers and
developers who want the land for hotels and attractions like golf courses. These social
impacts have led to a loss in culture and heritage. Another significant impact is the
turning of Balinese culture into a commodity. The major influx of tourists has
plagued Bali s culture. Dances, ceremonies and arts and crafts are all now adapted to
tourists timetables and tastes, and are mass produced to reduce cost. Also because
more people are choosing to work in the tourism industry, this has meant that fewer
are available doe traditional ceremonies and communal tasks, placing more pressure
on traditional community organisations.
As a result of tourism Bali has suffered a lot. In my opinion tourism has plagued
Bali and it s culture. Tourism brings in a lot of money for Indonesia and Bali, but as
a result of it the beautiful island is being
Women s Rights In The 1820s
The Amendment was passed August 26, 1920. Their fight to vote started sometime
in the 1820s. In the 1820s american women were titled to be a perfect housewife
which included cooking for the men and children, cleaning, looking after children,
and should be submissive towards the other gender. They were not allowed to have
paying jobs because men thought women could not handle that things except for
taking care of their family. In 1851 Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton

were trying to accomplish and still are. They worked together in making a newspaper
to promote the idea of women s rights. Around 1869 the National Women s Suffrage

A Comparison Of The Three Punic Wars
The three Punic Wars was a series of battles fought between Carthage and Rome
that lasted almost a century from 264 BC to 149 BC. As Carthage had the leading
power of Western Mediterranean and Rome s control over the peninsula of Italy.
However, both of the two states had different intensions over the island of Sicily
leading to the battles of the Punic Wars that soon later ended in a total defeat for
Carthage. With the desire of controlling the island of Sicily, Carthage would still
have the dominance power over the Mediterranean and as for Rome, it would
strengthen its land defense policy and expand its Republic. In 264 BC, the first
Punic War started when Rome wanted to expand their Republic by taking control
of Sicily which at the time was under Carthage. Carthage had the advantage, as they
avoided land based battles and continued to fight using their strong navy. Rome,
however, had built their navy over time and developed strategies that allowed its
trained soldiers to take part in naval ship to ship battles. In the end, Rome had won
the first Punic War between Carthage in 249 BC. As a result, Carthage not only had
to surrender Sicily to the Romans but also signed a peace treaty agreeing to pay
tribute. In the second Punic War, there were three major battles that was fought in
the beginning between 218 BC to 202 BC. These battles were led by a great military
leader and son of the previous Carthage leader who is now in command, Hannibal.

Thank You For Being Expendable
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, is a disorder many post war victims
suffer from. The problem is, the people who suffer from this are not receiving the
proper treatment. They are relying on the VA to help them but as time goes on,
the VA has started providing less service. War veterans should be given immediate
attention when it comes to post treatment. This is why more needs to be done to
improve their treatment process. To get an appointment with the VA it takes a
couple of weeks, up to months to finally be seen. people who suffer from PTSD are
usually in bad shape as Colby Buzzel mentions in Thank You for Being Expendable
and often have thoughts of suicide or self harm. Because of the VA s long wait time
people are not getting the care they need quick enough to help them. In Thank You
for Being Expendable Buzzel says, In my experience, the wait for an appointment
was typically eight to 10 weeks, but sometimes as long as three to four months. This
shows the way actual post war soldiers feel about the VA. With the amount of stress
that war veterans go through with PTSD, they should be treated quickly and with the

a title one can surmise if a movie is a horror movie or a romantic movie. For

Marxist Theory And Social Class
In contemporary Western societies, there is a social division due to stratification
and classes. Strydom (2005) defines social class as group of individuals that share
similarities like power and prestige. Saunders (2001) states that stratification is the
presence of distinct social groups which are ranked. Therefore, the major difference
is that stratification shows diversity while social classes defines an inequality. In
Marxist theories, society is divided between two classes, and social stratification is
the conflict between them. To illustrate this, China has faced communism for over a
decade, in which has caused major social inequalities within the society. In fact,
China is one of the few countries that the forces of communism and capitalism are
involved. In this essay,it will describe the main idea of Marxist theory and other
theories about social class, then make an assessment of the use of Marxist theory in
today s world.
For Marx there were two distinct groups in society; the ruling and subject group. The
ruling class are those who own the means of production distribution and exchange,
they also called the Bourgeoisie, but the subject class is those who must sell their
labour in the market place in order to live, they could be called the Proletariat. Marx
believed that the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat was in permanent opposition, the
bourgeoisie exploits the proletariat as the wages workers receive for their labour is a
fraction of the market value of the
Ethical And Unethical Dilemmas
In many research studies human participants are used to give us a better
understanding of how something works. There were numerous studies that involved
humans that were unethical and unjustifiable. Two examples that lead to major
changes in research studies were the Nazi War crimes and the Tuskegee experiment.
On December 17, 1942, the United States, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union issued
the first joint declaration officially noting the mass murder of European Jews and
resolving to prosecute those responsible for crimes against civilian populations. These
trials became known as the Nuremberg trials or the Nazi War crime trials. The
International Military Tribunal defined crimes against humanity as murder,
extermination, enslavement, deportation or persecutions on political, racial, or
religious grounds. (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, n.d., p. 1) As a result
the Nuremberg Code was developed which declared that human beings deserve the
dignity of humane treatment during medical experimentations. It outlines the
following: The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential. The
experiment should be such as to yield fruitful results of the good of society,
unprocurable by other methods or means of study, and not random and unnecessary
in nature. It should be conducted as to avoid all necessary and physical and mental
suffering and injury. No experiment should be conducted, where there is an a priori
reason to believe that death or disabling
Movement and Stasis in the Divine Comedy Essay
Movement and Stasis : The use of dynamics in the Divine Comedy
Movement is a crucial theme of the Divine Comedy. From the outset, we are
confronted with the physicality of the lost Dante, wandering in the perilous dark
wood. His movement within the strange place is confused and faltering; `Io non so
ben ridir com io v entrai . Moreover, it is clear that the physical distress he is
experiencing is the visible manifestation of the mental anguish the poet is
suffering. The allegory of the image is one of mid life crisis, but it is physically
represented by the man losing his way in a dark wood. Such an observation may
seem far too simple and obvious to be worthy of comment. However, I would argue
that it is from this primary example ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first passage is probably the most famous in the whole work, that of Francesca da
Rimini, in Canto V of the Inferno . Condemned for her inconstancy, that is to say her
lust, Francesca is contained in the eternal whirlwind of the `bufera infernale ,
alongside her lover, Paolo. In a clear parallel to her sin, she is buffeted by the
inconstant wind. Although unceasing, the wind changes direction and force, a
movement which is mirrored by the language used to describe it:
Di qua, di l #224;, di gi #249;, di su li mena;
nulla speranza li conforta mai,
non che di posa, ma minor pena.
(43 45, Canto V, Inf.)
In addition to the basic rhyme of the terza rima, the internal rhyme is carefully
manipulated to imitate phonologically the swirling of the wind. By balancing the
repeated [a] of `di qua, di la with the [u:] of the `di gi #249;, di su , Dante is able to
mimic the up and down movement of the air.
Francesca, then, is an extremely `mobile sinner. Although pausing to speak to Dante
(the significance of which will be later discussed), she is compelled to move
indeed, it is an integral part of her punishment. This compulsion is significant.
Through rejecting a life of constancy on earth, whether willingly or otherwise,
Francesca has sacrificed the free will she was allowed to exert on her body. Having
lost control of herself in life she is plunged into the chaos of the `bufera . Her
punishment then, is not merely an

Even the colossal resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920 s can be associated
with media. Children in an ambience of intensive violent media become
desensitized to violent acts, clearing a path towards an apathetic stance towards
violence as an adult. Also, this milieu of gargantuan helpings of fevered violence
leads to profoundly aggressive behavior as an adult and the ghastly fear of the
world around them. And unfortunately, it s an indisputable fact that violence sells

gruesome programs amasses you from Extreme Wrestling to CNN news. When s
the last time you heard something positive on the news as opposed to civil war in

murder of a child by their parent? Perhaps the news contributes more than just an
insightful knowledge of events. Perhaps Columbine copycats and school bomb

Stereotypes In Black Robe
In the movie, Black Robe, there are many different stereotypes portrayed. The ones
that seem to stick out the most in the movie are the savage and noble savage
stereotypes. During the movie, the Algonquin Indians agree to help La Forque on
his journey. In a beginning scene of Black Robe, a priest appears and you notice
that his ear is gone and half of his faced seems to be destroyed. It was said that the
Indians did it because they are uncivilized, leading me to conclude that this was an
example portraying the Indians as savages. During the journey, which is a very long
and enduring one, the Algonquin Indians discussed killing, overtaking and leaving
the Black Robe. Which to me portrays the stereotype of savage. In the end the

The Problems Facing The Educational System
There are many problems facing the educational system, such as, the lack of teachers

US Navy Chief Pinning Ceremony
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines tradition as a way of thinking, behaving,
or doing something that has been used by the people in a particular group, family,
society, etc., for a long time (2011). The Navy is full of formal traditions such as
saluting honors to the flag or senior personnel. One such tradition is the Chief s
Pinning Ceremony. The Chief s Pinning Ceremony is a formal tradition, the first
ceremony taken place on September 16, 1960. In 1959 the collar device of an
golden fouled anchor was the emblem of a Chief in the Navy. This anchor distinguish
the Chiefs the junior enlisted Sailors(Leuci 2015). The following year on September

the situation warrants, but humbler than they look. Therefore, Fullan s (2011)

The Story of Vlad the Impaler s Life
Are you a fan of Vampires or Dracula? I am so I did some research on them, that,
and I was told to. My essay is over the very first vampire Vlad Dracula or more
commonly today Vlad the Impaler. Yes this is going to take a while so hold tight.
Vlad was born in Transylvania a very long time ago. He was a prince of Wallachia
for many, many years. He was well known for what he did to the enemy during the
battles he fought in. Vlad was a highly feared person. He was the over taker of
many lands, and villages. Vlad Dracula was a dastardly man who in this seriously
long essay I will explain everything I have the knowledge of. Let s Begin. Vlad
Dracula was born to Vlad Dracul and his mother was a beautiful young Moldavian
princess, her name was lost in history. He was born in the year 1431 in the country
of Sighisoara, Transylvania. He was born a prince for his father was from a family
of princes in Wallachia (Goldberg Itzkowitz pg. 18), and of course his mother
being a princess helped. His name Dracula means little dragon, or little devil . His
father was a knight of Emperor Sigismund. Vlad lived near the front line of defense
for this reason alone. When Vlad was about either 12 or 13 he and his brother Radu
were traded to the Turks by their father as hostages as to keep the treaty of peace
between the two countries from ever being broken. While they were hostages the
Turks taught them science and mathematics, and by the end of the four years they

Georgia (12 1,7 1) vs. Oklahoma (12 1,8 1) in the Rose Bowl.
These matchups will be decided by the elite players that play for them. The Sugar
bowl will be all about elite quarterback play. Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant, a 6

Another factor will be Oklahoma s Big 12 style defense going up against Georgia s
SEC style offense. 2003 was the last time Oklahoma played in the Rose Bowl.
Oklahoma head football coach Lincoln Riley said They (Georgia) are always a
challenge. There are great defenses in that league (SEC). Auburn was tremendous
last year and I have had a chance to see Georgia a little bit this year. They re
tremendous. They have great athletes all over the field. Kirby (Smart, head coach
Georgia) and his staff do such a great job defensively with their schemes and the way
they attack you. It s going to be a challenge.
This is the Bulldogs first appearance in the Rose bowl game since 1943. Georgia is
balanced on offense with a thousand yard rusher in Nick Chubb, and a 6 foot 2, 225
pound freshman quarterback in Jake Fromm with over 2000 passing yards. Fromm
has handled himself this season, but now with the pressure of the playoff and the
championship on the line, will this continue or will he falter? Georgia head football

The Murder And Robbery Of A Shoe Factory
In 1920, during the height of the Red Scare, a shoemaker, Nicola Sacco (1891
1927), and a fish peddler, Bartolomeo Vanzetti (1888 1927), were accused of
robbing and murdering the paymaster and guard of a shoe company in South
Braintree, Massachusetts. Known as anarchists and draft evaders, the accused men
faced a hostile judge and a public convinced of their guilt. Despite Sacco s
corroborated testimony that he was at the Italian consulate in Boston at the time of
the murder, the two were found guilty on the basis of witness identification and their
suspicious behavior after the murder, and were sentenced to death by Judge Webster
Thayer. The trial of two Italian immigrants, Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti,
grasped the entire nation. Both men were accused of murder and robbery of a shoe
factory in Braintree, Massachusetts. They were both sentenced to death for the
robbery and murder even though there was insufficient evidence. Many people
strongly disagreed with the verdict as they believed the men were innocent and were
prosecuted because of their politics.
On April 15th, 1920, in South Braintree, Massachusetts after a paymaster and a
security guard who were carrying $15,000 for a shoe company were shot and killed
in cold blood by two men in a car. The two men took the 15,000 and fled. The polices
attention was directed towards Sacco and Vanzettias their prime suspects because

I Sing The Battle Figurative Language
Figurative language can be used to enhance a literary piece in an instant. It is a tool
used by many authors and poets, including the poet Henry Kemp. There are around
10 different types of figurative language. 2 examples of figurative language are
personification and onomatopoeia, which is used in Kemp s poem, I Sing the Battle
. In his poem, the theme of pain in war is clearly shown through the use of figurative
languagesuch as personification and onomatopoeia. Henry Kemp uses
personification throughout his piece to elevate it. In his poem, he talks about the
sights of war. He writes, guns that belchforth death at will (Kemp 1). The guns shoot
out bullets that take away lives at an instant. Guns cannot actually belch like humans
so the reader of the poem has to infer what Kemp meant. Shortly after, Kemp uses
personification again. It says, bugles that cry before (Kemp 3). BUgles are a musical
instrument that cannot physically cry. One can infer that by using the word cry ,
Kemp meant that the bugles alarm those within hearing distance of its message. With
the use of personification, it is easier for readers to understand the meaning of the
poem because it helps them to visualize what is happening. The personification of
guns and bugles helped to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Henry Kemp used repetition of onomatopoeia to assist readers comprehend the
meaning behind his piece. In multiple lines, he uses the word Ah, (Kemp 2,4,6,8)
for this technique. This repetition of figurative language makes it easier to visualize
the speaker and feel their presence. Kemp also uses simple words to help intuallects
hear the sounds of the war. A word he uses in his poem is clash (Kemp 5). Analysts
can better understand what happened on that battlefield and transport themselves to
that bloody area. Use of onomatopoeia allows reader to better grasp the meaning of
the poem and its

Maze Song Analyse
Maze is a song that was written and composed originally in English by a South
Korean rap group that goes by the name of Epik High. Most of the songs produced
by this group are social commentaries on the state of the world. This song in
particular deals specifically with the topic of life and the struggles that come with
it. They equate life to a maze, repeating the phrase over and over again throughout
the song. The books that this song relates to in particular are Siddhartha, Life of Pi,
the Alchemist, and The Things They Carried. In Maze, they talk about the state of
the world. Love, sex, greed, addictions. What s next need directions. There s nobody

You step in it and you blow up, you exit or you grow up . In the line previous to
this one they talk about avoiding all of Earth s landmines which is probably in
reference to all the problems going on in the world. It could also be interpreted as
the problems that life throws at you. You exit or you grow up means that when
these problems come your way, you could either choose to give up or face your
problems head on. In Life of Pi, Pi is basically battling for his life every single day.
He could have easily given up after the first week but he chose to keep going. Pi
even goes through a point where he is genuinely ready to die. By the next morning
I had lost all fear of death, and I resolved to die (Martel, 241). He clearly does not
die after that but proceeds to live on after he encounters another cast away. Another
topic that the song touches on is the harshness of reality. It s a murder fact, reality

completely fabricated. At the end of the novel Pi asks Which is the better story,
the story with the animals or the story without the animals (Martel, 317). It can be
assumed that Pi created this false story as a coping mechanism to deal with the
horrific things that happened while he was out at sea. Going back to Epik High s
song, reality can sometimes be too harsh for people to handle but it s something
that we do end up having to accept. In the line Call your doctor now for your reality

A Priority based Compromise Fuzzy Goal Programming Approach for Channel
Allocation Problem
Abstract
Some companies produce and sell all of their own products through their own
internal channels and some use multiple external channels to distribute goods to
consumers. Many authors have presented mathematical model for channel allocation
problem. Tsai et al (2008) presented a mixed integer fuzzy goal programming model
for channel allocation problem considering three different fuzzy goals. In this paper
we use the weighted root power mean method of aggregation for obtaining a priority
based solution of channel allocation problem where preferences are defined in terms
of weights.
Keywords: Channel Allocation problem, Compromise fuzzy goal programming,
multiobjective optimization, weighted goal programming.
1.Introduction
Firms distribute their product through multiple distribution channels which include
direct and indirect channels. The channel in which distribution function is grouped by
a supplier and one or more of intermediaries, is known as an indirect channel.
However, a direct channel distributes products from producers to the users directly
without introducing any intermediaries. Many reasons can be presented for the firms
to adopt multiple channel strategy because advances in information and
manufacturing technology have encouraged multiple channels. However, multiple
channels for distribution of the products in the market arise many challenges and one
of them is the
Fearless Girl Statue Analysis
Women are the backbone to society: they are the forgotten pioneers who are
continuously attacked in a system of aggressions that limit their ability to progress.
Despite vocalizing their experiences in hopes of change, women are pushed back into
their subservient positions with the assurance that behind every great man is an even
greater woman without being given the agency to move forward. Often, the economy
serves as a systematic force of oppression for women. In this paper I will argue that
the Fearless Girl statue represents the continuation of economic exploitation of
women as a means of publicity. I believe this is the case because throughout history
America has used the economy to oppress women while simultaneously falsely
supporting them as demonstrated through the encouragement of the American Dream
in the 1950s, the lack of opportunity for improvement and conversation in the 1960s
and 1970s, and through the most recent Fearless Girl statue.
To better understand the magnitude of economic oppression, several ideas must be
defined. Agency relates back to the freewill of something, be it an individual,
group, or otherwise. Often debated, agency has been generally agreed upon as an
issue of choice. Aristotle took the view that agency is composed of an agent s
intentions paired with their reason for action in order to achieve a goal (Schlosser).
For the sake of feminism and this paper, an example would be women, the agents,

The History and Evoluition of Dance
Modern dance was created as a rebellion against the prevalent dance forms of the
time, ballet and Vaudeville. It is a form of theatrical dance, known for its continual
fusion of non western style and ideas, which allows for a fresh source of movement
inspiration. Choreographers rejected what they classified as the inflexible and
imperialistic nature of ballet, and in order to be taken seriously as artists rather than
simple entertainers they created a new art form. Artists Loie Fuller, Isadora Duncan,
and Ruth St. Denis are considered to be the pioneers of modern dancein America.
Dance is a social institution, recognized as being an important function in civilized
life. The following essay will focus on the theory and work of artist Isadora Duncan,
while incorporating lecture notes and articles of both authors Sally Bane and Ann
Daly to explain the historical situations that culminated in the development of early
modern dance. Arising from the 20th century modern dance was a form of cultural
collaboration and exploration, as well as a resistance to colonial repression. Modern
dance allowed for the experimentation of the new as well as a freer form of dance
movement. Choreographers drew on exotic sources, and example of this illustrated in
the work of Isadora Duncan with her use of Greek culture as a movement inspiration.
Artists act as both the choreographer and performer creating their own conventions,
or dance language.

Darwin s Theory Of Evolution Of Species
In 1831, a newly graduated botanist named Charles Darwin was offered a position
on a five year voyage mapping the coasts of South America. Darwin eagerly accepted
this offer, seeing it as an opportunity to study specimens discovered on his journey.
Upon returning to London, Darwin spent the next ten years meticulously cataloging
and researching his findings. It was these studies that gave birth to a much deeper
and more impactful discussion; the origins of species. Prior to Darwin s studies the
discussion of the origin of man was dominated by creationism, or the belief that we
derive from god, who created us all in his image. For the next thirty years, Darwin
devoted himself to researching the long standing question where did we come... Show

It is more of an alternate perspective on the driving force behind biological evolution.
Rather than thinking that natural selection and random mutation lead evolution,
theistic evolutionists hypothesize that god only used evolution as a means to
create man, a process often referred to as Guided Evolution . Regardless of the
interpretation, both forms assert that life stems from a common ancestor, created
by god and designed to be the beginning of the evolutionary process. A glaring
objection to this idea is that of the Book of Genesis, which displays the origin of
man from a creationist point of view. According to this piece of work, God created
the physical world in entirety within six days, and finally creating man from dust on
the seventh day. Theistic evolutionists emphasize the metaphorical meaning behind
the Book of Genesis, while holding their position that the words should not be
taken literally, and the components of the story did not actually happen. There are
several arguments that are made in opposition to guided evolution, the most widely
used objection is the Problem of Evil . The problem of evil questions how one
could reconcile the existence evil in the world with an omnibenevolent god. In
regards to guided evolution, if god really designed the entire process with an end
goal of creating man, why include so many wasteful and cruel components? If god
was in fact all loving
Justice Pay In Plato s The Republic
The Republic Does Justice Pay
In the Introduction of Plato s Republic, a very important theme is depicted. It is the
argument of whether it is beneficial for a person to lead a good and just existence.
The greatly argued position that justice does not pay, is argued by three men
Thrasymachus, Glaucon, and Adeimantus. By incorporating all three men into a
collective effort I believe I can give a more flattering depiction of injustice.
First, we must explore the basis of the moral skepticism argument in The Republic,
given by Thrasymachus. Thrasymachus view follows the disbelief in morality that
was common during the time. The principle part of his argument is, the interests of
the stronger (or ruling) party in a society are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Socrates makes a few very strong refutes, which will be discussed later, and seems
to dishearten the argumentative spirit of Thrasymachus. The argument begins to fall
apart when he is forced to restate his main point. The restatement is that ordinary
morality is simply the behavior imposed by exploiter on exploited, and thus is
someone else s interest (342 e). In this version of his original point, he also touches
on a very important fact that, in everyday life, the pursuit of self interest is natural
and just. Thrasymachus depicts this point by undeniable fact that in a professional
sense no one wants to work for free, and that they expect some benefits in their own
interest for their efforts. After showing dissatisfaction with Socrates refutation,
Thrasymachus gives way to Glaucon who begins to argue for the benefits of injustice
in everyday life.
Glaucon s argument begins with a question of whether the just or unjust man is
happier, and continues on a tangent from there. He states that morality is based on
convenience, and that it is natural to pursue one s own interests. He says that justice
can pretty much be summed up as splitting the difference of two evils. The first,
being forced to restrain one s self from certain interests, and the other being becoming
the victim of injustice from another person. This, to me, is the most convincing part
Online Forums And Platforms Of Social Media
2.SOCIAL MEDIA ANALYTICS
The several online forums and platforms that allow a person to synthesize, update,
delete and exchange data is Social media [10]. Social media can be categorized [30,
31] as:
Social networks: The explosion of startups is causing new social networks to pop up.
Blogs: The best way to put an end to that silly belief is to read a large number of
blogs.
Microblogs: Studies by Treude et al., Storey, and Yuan et al. have shown that a wealth
of interesting information is stored in these microblogs.
Social news: Sift through journals so that others don t have to.
Social bookmarking: Popular way to return to your site regularly to see if there
something new and interesting.
Media sharing: Where content hunters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Social media analytics has seen a widespread application in marketing of late. This
is due to the growing adoption of social media by people [32]. Forrester Research
[5], projects social media to be one of the fastest growing marketing channels in the
US between 2010 and 2015 [33]. User generated content and interactions between the
network entities are the two main sources of information in social media. Social
media analytics can be categorized into two groups based on this:
Content based analytics: This type of analytics deals with large amounts of
unstructured and noisy data (Text, audio, video and images) created and exchanged
by users on social media platforms, as discussed earlier, can be applied to derive
insight from such data. Data processing challenges can be solved by adopting big
data technologies.
Structure based analytics (Social network analytics): This type of analytics deals
with gaining intelligence from the participants relationships and creating structural
attributes of a social network. The structure of a social network is created with the
help of nodes and edges, as a network graph, where each participant is represented
by a node and each edge represents the relationship between two participants. We
discuss two kinds of graphs, social graphs and activity graphs [34].
In social graphs, an edge between a pair of nodes only indicates the existence of a
relationship between two corresponding participants. Social graphs can be analyzed to
Tobacco Regulation Act Of 2003
I should like to reply in three different aspects: 1. Smoking in Philippine Setting, 2.
Related Diseases to Smoking in the Philippines, and 3. Comparison between
Philippines and Canada on Smoking
1. Smoking in Philippine Setting
A joint collaborative effort of the Republic of the Philippines Department of Health
(DOH) and National Statistics Office, through DOH s100% Smoke Free Philippines
campaign backed by Philippine s Republic Act 9211, The TobaccoRegulation Act of
2003, conducted two related important studies regarding smoking. Both researches
were published last February 16, 2012 as factsheets for public references. The first
study focuses on Youth/Student population and the second one was on adult. (http:/
/www.smokefree.doh.gov.ph/index.php)
Under the youth research, Philippines Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS), it
concluded that 46.2% of students had ever smoked cigarettes, which is tantamount to
more than 1 in 5 students surveyed. Almost 9 in 10 of students surveyed saw anti
smoking media messages and over two thirds of them think smoke from other is
harmful. The study further concluded that approximately 86% of the current smokers
want to stop smoking. (http://www.smokefree.doh.gov.ph/uploads/attachments

In comparison, under Philippines Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS), among
adults 15 years or older, 28.3% were current tobacco smokers, representing 17.3
million Filipinos. Close to GYTS, 4 in every 5 Filipino
Symbols In The Outsiders
What is symbolism? Symbolism is representing things by symbols, or of investing
things with a symbolic meaning. In The Outsiders there are many symbols that
represent different ideas of the characters and novel In the story The Outsiders the
result of the book is that Johnny died after saving kids from a fire inside a church.
Dally, after Johnny has died, he thinks what is the point of life? and decides to let
the cops kill him. Pony is than curious why everyone is dying and writes a book
about it. In this story they uses symbolism to show and represent things. Two bit
who is the crazy and funny one in the group has a switchblade. With this
switchblade, he carries it around with him everywhere he goes. The switchblade
represents the toughness of the greasers and there lack of caring because it is
stolen and he can use it as a violent weapon. A example of how it is used is that
Two Bit got into a fight walking in the streets and he had to use it as self protection....

The greasers hair represent their own gang and how unique they are. They don t
have money like the socs, so they use their own creative ways. There hair is slicked
back and greased back which is a 50 s hair style showing there toughness and
uniqueness. Usually, kids in the 50 s had their hair short and parted. In the beginning
of the story, the Socs jump Ponyboy and ask, in an aggressive manner, do you want a
haircut?. This is because the hair is the most important thing he had on
The Argument Of Arts And Culture
Culture is part of our everyday life; it can be anything from sports, food, clothing or
even lifestyle. On the onset, the support of arts and culture should not be limited to
the cultural argument alone, as one cannot deny that arts and culture is important for
the growth of society. Apart from the financial aspect of a society, arts and culture go
a long way towards making the society more holistic.
With this in mind, the author will firstly examine the two different approaches to arts
and culture; namely cultural arguments as opposed to the creative industries or
economic arguments. Secondly, the author will discuss about why arts and culture
should live on and be funded, without putting creative industries approach towards it.

On the other hand, creative industry takes the view of economic boom of creative
work such in any type of industry. Creative industries were defined as those activities
which have their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent and which have the
potential for wealth and job creation through the generation and exploitation of
intellectual property (DCMS, 1998) (Quoted from Ozga, Seddon, Popkewitz, 2006)
As Paul Keating suggests,
This cultural policy is also an economic policy. Culture creates wealth. Broadly
defined, our cultural industries generate 13 billion dollars a year. Culture [employs
and] adds value; it makes an essential contribution to innovation, marketing and
design. It is a badge of our industry. The level of our creativity substantially
determines our ability to adapt to new economic imperatives. It is a valuable export in
itself and an essential accompaniment to the export of other commodities. It attracts
tourists and students. It is essential to our economic success. (Paul Keating,
Essay Act V in A Midsummer Night s Dream by William...
Act V in A Midsummer Night s Dream by William Shakespeare A: The final act at
first seems completely unnecessary to the overall plot of the play. After all, in Act
Four we not only have the lovers intent on getting married, but there has been a
happy resolution to the overall conflict. Thus, the immediate question which arises
is why Shakespeare felt it necessary to include this act. The answer lies in part with
the entrance of all the characters in the final scene (with the exception of Egeus);
this acts as a sort of encore to resolve any unanswered questions the audience may
have about any of the characters. In Act Five the play is resolved with a typical
happy ending with Lysander and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This too has to be done if the happy ending is to be maintained. Philostrate is
another example of disgruntled party in Act Five as well as Egeus as he didn t
want to see the mechanical s play again, but in the end was simply overruled by
Theseus. Perhaps Shakespeare is trying to make the point that this, like many
plays conclusions, might be a manufactured happy ending. When you had read
halfway through the play the last thing that you would have seen coming was a
happy ending, in this way the happy ending isn t cheap and wasn t predictable. It
was also most clearly the result of crucial help from the fairies . Perhaps the most
telling line of the last act is when Theseus asks, How shall we find the concord of
this discord? but that is exactly what has happened in the play itself, namely there
has been a resolution to the discord of the lovers in the initial scenes, which by the
end has turned into concord. This makes the play perfect for an epithalamium (a play
put on at a wedding). Perhaps Shakespeare may even have been contracted to write
this play as an epithalamium. The sub plot, revolving around the mechanicals, also
ends happily. Bottom is not transported as they had feared, but arrives in time to save
the interlude, which,

  • 2. Morality In Antigone Uniqueness is a feat all on its own. Oftentimes, many feel as though they will be judged or ostracized from society for being different from others. In Antigone, a play written by Sophocles, the main protagonist encounters opposing forces that try to cease her chances of morally accomplishing an honest and just deed. Antigone, the main protagonist, is left to essentially fend for herself against the woes of society and their beliefs. As Antigone refuses to comply, revelations are made about herself and others that contribute to the morals and ethics of the conflicts made. Morality plays a significant part in the play; it is emphasized greatly by Antigone as she attempts to bury the body of her brother, Polyneices. She emphasizes her reasons
  • 3. The Psychosocial Burden Of Food Allergies On Humans Josh Greenspan Idiots Guide Currently, I am studying the psychosocial burden of food allergies on humans. This burden can cause severe stress and anxiety. Before I started that topic, I needed to learn about the main problem food allergies. Essentially, An allergy is an overemphasized reaction by the immune system in response to exposure to certain foreign substances. It is exaggerated because these exotic substances are usually seen by the body as harmless and no response occurs in nonallergic people. In allergic individuals, the body recognizes the foreign substance and the immune system generates a response. The importance and benefits of psychosocial allergy research and just purely allergy research is shown in several ways. Some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, the IgE molecules are differentiated into extremely specific sub categories. Then, the IgE s will attach to the allergen and create an antigen antibody complex. Then, the complex will bind to a mast cell, which provokes the mast cell to release certain chemicals such as histamine and serotonin. This causes allergic symptoms, but I will get into that section later in the paper. An allergic response might lead to anaphylactic shock, a life threatening reaction that will happen in seconds after the initial intake of the allergen. Diagram 1 (freshlife.com) What happens during anaphylaxis? Anaphylaxis is a severe, life threatening allergic reaction. It will most likely occur within seconds or minutes of exposure to the allergen. Anaphylaxis needs an immediate trip to the ER and an injection of epinephrine. If anaphylaxis is not treated immediately, the victim will most likely die. Anaphylaxis is fatal and causes around 100 150 deaths a year. Fatalities can easily be prevented if anaphylaxis is treated at first sight. Currently, around the world, 0.5 2% of people have been estimated to have experienced anaphylaxis at some point in life, and rates seem to be ascending.Cardiovascularly, heart spasms might happen with quickly onset arrhythmia or cardiac arrest(heart attack).People with clinical heart defects are prone to cardiovascular problems with anaphylaxis. The heart spasms
  • 4. Guidance Of Pressure Compressions 2.1.3. Guidance for obtaining accurate measurements In practice, strain measurements are usually below a few millistrain. Therefore, the changes in resistance need to be measured accurately. Temperature coefficient of gauge factor is the change of sensitivity of the element to change its length with change in temperature. A fixed resistance in the input leg can be introduced to compensate for it. As a result, the effective supplied voltage increases when temperature increases. This compensates for the decrease in sensitivity. When more than one strain gauge are used, the temperature coefficient of gauge factor might be different, there will be a zero shift with temperature. One or more resistors can be placed on the compensation network ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Secondly, record the imaging parameter and the orientation for each sensor with respect to each other, so that the position of each object point in the x, y and z axis can be calculated. Thirdly, calculate the position of each object point in the images by applying a correlation algorithm with the use of a stochastic intensity pattern on the object surface. Fourthly, the tracked grey value pattern is the basis of the correlation algorithm. The pattern is transformed because of the loading applied to the object. The following equations illustrate the transformation, and the results are calculated using softwares. Equation 3: Gt(xt, yt)=g0+g1G(xt, yt) Equation 4: x1=a0+a1x+a2y+a3xy Equation 5:y1=a4+a5x+a6y+a7xy Finally, the results are plotted on computers and can be used to represent different measurements, including calibration, contour measurement, deformation measurement, strain calculation and more. 2.2.3. Guidance for obtaining accurate measurements Sub pixel resolutions are obtained are the algorithms are allowed to be executed efficiently by the development of software techniques. High resolution measurements are performed, leading to the commercially available digital photography, which can be used to measure surface deformation down to one part per million of images. The use of suitable software techniques The sources of the images vary from digital cameras, macroscopes, microscopes, conventional CCD, high speed video and
  • 5. Taking a Look at Hurling Hurling is believed to be the worlds oldest and fastest paced sport in history. Its roots have prehistoric origins and have been played for over 3,000 years, even older than recorded history of Ireland, which is its national game of play. The history itself of hurling is longer than the Bible and often unclear. Nonetheless hurlingis an incredible sport full of rich history and a truly rigorous sport. Since hurling is not a well known sport to us Americans, I m going to give a brief background of the sport and how it is played. Hurling is an outdoor team game; each team consists of 15 players on the field aka Hurlers . The field of play is relatively the same shape of a rugby field but just a bit larger: 140 160 yards long and 90 100 yards wide (Hurling GAA). Scoring is a mix of American football and soccer. At each end of the field are an H shaped goalpost; the soccer type goal and a field goal type extension on top of that. If the ball (sliotar) is struck inside the bottom net, that team is rewarded three points, if the ball is struck and goes in between the top field goal posts the team gets one point. The equipment of the game consists of a ball, sliotar that is roughly the size of a baseball but with raised ridges. The stick called a hurley, roughly 40 inches long, shaped like a field hockey stick is curved outwards at the end to provide a larger striking surface for the player. The only protective gear worn is a helmet with a faceguard, which before 2010 was not
  • 6. Abandonment In Sophocles Elektra Abandonment s Effect on Orge in Sophocles Elektra, lines 1026 1048 Most of today s society is well aware of our five stages of grief; we watch character and close friends sift through denial, anger, bargaining, depression and ultimately, acceptance. It s common to find people stuck in a stage, unwilling to or unable to let past events continue to affect their present state of mind. Modern reader s can find a similar system in Greek tragedies, perhaps with a bit more punch, and there is no play where this is clearer than Sophocles Elektra. Elektra s character dominates the page and the plot, driving characters to their destinies with fervor comparable to Fast Furious. The greater share given to her character by her lineage is represented... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The word that gets me in this passage is favor because it contrasts so beautifully with the previous use of stolen and bereft. This is a woman who has had everything taken from her against her will. She feels enslaved, powerless, and hopeless. And yet, she says that the people she despises can do her a favor, an act of kindness beyond what is due. This reversal is so perfectly emblematic of her change from rage to hopelessness. Elektra no longer wants to do something to the people that did her an injustice; she wants them to do something to
  • 7. My Journey In Life My childhood was a happy one, for a moment at least. The first seven years of my life had gone by in a flash living in Bear, Delaware. I don t know if I had so much fun that somehow, I transported myself into the future. The next thing I knew my family along with the new addition of my younger brother Ethan was moving to Powder Springs, Georgia. This tendency to stop and look at my existence at specific points in my life continued through 6th grade with the familymoving again to Dallas, Georgia. Fast forward a few years after 8th grade my family and I moved for the last time to West Chester, Pennsylvania. I have moved a lot and it caused a lot of stress and uncertainty but I don t regret it for a second, because from this constantly winding journey I learned one important lesson. There are challenges and obstacles everywhere you go but your reaction to the situation will decide how successful you will be in life. What doesn t kill you makes you lose the will to live. , was how I looked at every challenge. On this path of growth and maturity, I started to notice things about how my reactions to events painted the experience and how I tried to handle the situation. My mother always said to me You are getting older and I cannot always be there to help you. You must choose if you want to become a fixer or a victim. I felt as if I was a victim when I was younger especially when I had no control. As I got older and started to realize why we moved so much, I realized you
  • 8. Are It Is Time Consuming When Analyzing The Data And It are it is time consuming when analyzing the data and it can be expensive when transcribing. The use of informed consent is important regardless of what research method is taking place. For example, in the article, before carrying out semi structure interview, it shows the researcher had given out informed consent to the schools and approached potential participants to explain the study (Wan Neihart, 2015). It is acceptable for the researcher to encourage the participants but this should not run the risk of coercing the participants (Matthew Ross, 2010). Under BERA s ethical guidelines it is unacceptable to coerce participants as they should have the freedom to choose. Another ethical issue was confidentiality. It is important to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in the study an initial pilot procedure was conducted using 12 female year 7 pupils (Elliott Hoyle, 2014, pg 6). This increases reliability, validity and gains some feedback from the respondents based on whether the questionnaire can be easily understood (Cohen,. et al, 2011). In contrast, to interviews this can be difficult to achieve because the researcher asks a slightly different question to each participant according to the flow of discussion and compared to questionnaires, interviews are time consuming to carry out a trial (Cohen,. et al, 2011). Another benefit is that the researcher can collect a large amount of data in a short amount of time. The evidence is in the article where the researcher hands the questionnaires to the teacher so he can give it to the students, and explains how to administer the questionnaire (Elliot Hoyle, 2014). This shows the researcher saves time. Compared to interviews, questionnaires are easy to analyze and results can be generalize to get an overview of why girls do not want to participate in physical Education (Elliott Hoyle, 2014). However, generalization is difficult in interviews because different people have different opinions. One weakness I found in this article was the questionnaire design as the researcher used rating scales. For example, the researcher provided two options which were 1= strongly disagree and
  • 9. How To Build Verbonia The design of the city Verbonia required both intelligence and physical strength, and without these two components, the city would have been much harder to build. The people who helped build the city were a mixture of smart and strong, as they had to be in order to make some of the things that happened, happen. In order to make plans for buildings and division of the land, there had to be intelligent people to plan out the ideas so that they would work. For example, the intelligent people knew that they would need to divide the land into blocks, so they divided the land into a chessboard like design, with almost all of the blocks being 80 square yards. They also knew that food and water had to be accessible by all of the people, which is why they placed public water fountains, the aqueduct that would bring the water, and a central food market, along with public baths and toilets. The cityhas a social Hierarchy, where the emperor has the most power, and the laborers had the least. The city planners also created a good economy, where people had to pay for the construction of their own house, which could not happen in the first place if there were not construction workers, bringing up the necessity of the physical strength that was involved in the buildingof this town.... They also found clay in large pits in the ground, and they would send them to the factories, where they were made into tiles and
  • 10. Demographic Trends And Its Effects On Health Care Demography is the study of the population grounded on various factors such as sex, economic status, age, race, and the level of technology, the level of income, the level of education, employment, and so forth. Demographics are primarily used by the governments, non government organizations, and corporations to get the adequate information about the characteristics of the populationfor the purpose of development of policy, and the research of the economic market. On the other hand, demographic trends are also imperative because the demographic sizes of various ethnic groups would change over the period as the result of political, economic, and cultural circumstances. At the end of this essay, the reader would understand demographic trends lead to social changes in the US, its effects on the health care in the US, and how some of such demographic trends would be reduced to drive down the cost of health care (Coulter, 2012). Tracking the demographic trend is challenging because the availability of data does not usually keep up with the social changes pace, or due to the constant change of its definition over time. For instance, the U.S Census Bureau (USCB) commenced providing the reporting counts for a couple of the same sex and cohabiting couples in 1976 and the individuals of more than one race in 1990 (Cutle, 2007). According to the research that was carried out by the USCB in 1997, the demographic projections revealed three primary trends that affect the U.S as far as

The reason why Fudge is because; he encourages his friends to not look at a book for just an assignment, but to look into the book, and learn from it. I read books from time to time, and I read it to analyze its not just for an assignment, and I try to encourage friends to read it. • 13. Allied Strategic Bombing Allied strategic bombing of Germany during the Second World War was, in the main, significant. The key themes to be looked at in this essay are the effects that Allied Strategic Bombing had on the dislocation and demoralisation of German civilians; Germany s economic ability to produce and transport goods for the war effort; other key aspects of the war and the German war effort and, finally, its impact on the USSR. The evidence of the effectiveness of Allied Strategic Bombingof Germanystrongly suggests that it became more significant throughout the war, especially after the first one thousand bomber raid on Cologne in May 1942, and although not decisive on its own, was significant in the final outcome of the Second World War. One element ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whilst the significance that it had on the German home front may have been more limited than hoped for, it succeeded in dislocating and demoralising German civilians. Whilst its effect on Germany s economic ability to produce and transport goods for the war effort may have been mostly limited, its effect on the transport infrastructure of German was of critical significance. Perhaps the most significant effect was bombing s impact on other areas of the war and the German war effort because of how it saved thousands of potential casualties and facilitated the D Day landings. Its impact on the USSR in terms of both keeping them as an ally and easing their invasion was also of great significance. The overall outcome from Allied Strategic Bombing may have been highly significant, but we must not fail to neglect the cost at which such a result came. 44.4% of Bomber Command crews failed to return from their missions (55,573) and over 18000 were wounded or became prisoners of war. 8,325 aircraft were lost and 1,030,500 tons of bombs were dropped. Despite the cost at which Allied Strategic Bombing came at, the evidence supports the argument that the Allied Strategic Bombing of Germany during the Second World War was significant to a large

It is Impossible to Accurately Imagine What is it like to be a Bat Insofar as I can imagine this (which is not very far), it tells me only what it would be like for me to behave as a bat behaves. But that is not the question. I want to know what it is like for a bat to be a bat... Thomas Nagel In order to take the above request seriously, one must assume that bats have experience and consciousness. Assuming so, one must then imagine the consciousness that a bat must live with. Its brain is designed to correlate outgoing impulses with subsequent echoes, and the information thus acquired enables the bat to make precise discriminations of distance, size, shape, motion, and texture comparable to those we make by vision. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Is a bat aware of its own existence? If a bat is not aware of its own existence, then the above question is immediately answered: a bat simply flutters around carrying out its activities of life, experiencing nothing, just living. If a bat is aware of its existence, there are infinitely more questions to be raised to discover exactly what life as a bat is like. Many would argue that the key difference between the human consciousness and that of a bat is vision I disagree. In order to see its world, a bat relies on sound and echoes to create the complex world that a human sees by vision; is that a key difference? The difference in the electromagnetic sound waves and light waves is little more than wavelength and frequency, therefore it is very reasonable to assume that a bat s vision is nearly as accurate as a human s, perhaps better if the bouncing waves are sent frequent enough to produce a constant image. Vision is not a key difference, but only an integral part of the sensory system that produces any creature s consciousness. For the most accurate depiction, one would need to know how a bat s senses of smell, taste, and touch compare to that of a human s, or more importantly, how a bat thinks. Humans have developed many complex

Discrimination is a sociological term referring to the treatment taken toward or against a person of a certain group in consideration based solely on class or category. Discrimination is the actual behavior towards another group. AIDS and HIV related stigma and discrimination refers to prejudice, negative attitudes, abuse, and maltreatment directed at people living with AIDS and HIV. In Philadelphia Andy was scorned by his lawyer, and also his employers, because they thought they he could give them the disease by being around them, and also the fact that he was a homosexual turned their spirits from him. Persons living with the disease are abandoned by family, friends, and the community. These persons are mistreated and at times get poor treatment in health facilities and education settings. Tourism has impacted on the already existing, social, economic, cultural and environmental processes of the island. For example, as a result of tourism the pace of urbanisation has rapid increased and tourism has sped up the process of economic development. There are large economic consequences on the economy of Bali. One significant impact on Bali is the foreign exchange earnings. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The social and cultural processes are also significantly impacted. Tourism has helped develop and keep up the unique culture of the island, it has helped revive artistic traditions, and has provided an economic justification for preserving them. But tourism has also led to importantly behavioural impacts, for example; nude sunbathing by tourist is widely disliked by the locals, as well as that lack of respect is shown by tourists in scared places such as temples. Another negative impact is the social development of Bali. There are constant conflicts between local villagers and developers who want the land for hotels and attractions like golf courses. These social impacts have led to a loss in culture and heritage. Another significant impact is the turning of Balinese culture into a commodity. The major influx of tourists has plagued Bali s culture. Dances, ceremonies and arts and crafts are all now adapted to tourists timetables and tastes, and are mass produced to reduce cost. Also because more people are choosing to work in the tourism industry, this has meant that fewer are available doe traditional ceremonies and communal tasks, placing more pressure on traditional community organisations. As a result of tourism Bali has suffered a lot. In my opinion tourism has plagued Bali and it s culture. Tourism brings in a lot of money for Indonesia and Bali, but as a result of it the beautiful island is being

As Carthage had the leading power of Western Mediterranean and Rome s control over the peninsula of Italy. However, both of the two states had different intensions over the island of Sicily leading to the battles of the Punic Wars that soon later ended in a total defeat for Carthage. With the desire of controlling the island of Sicily, Carthage would still have the dominance power over the Mediterranean and as for Rome, it would strengthen its land defense policy and expand its Republic. In 264 BC, the first Punic War started when Rome wanted to expand their Republic by taking control of Sicily which at the time was under Carthage. Carthage had the advantage, as they avoided land based battles and continued to fight using their strong navy. Rome, however, had built their navy over time and developed strategies that allowed its trained soldiers to take part in naval ship to ship battles. In the end, Rome had won the first Punic War between Carthage in 249 BC. As a result, Carthage not only had to surrender Sicily to the Romans but also signed a peace treaty agreeing to pay tribute. In the second Punic War, there were three major battles that was fought in the beginning between 218 BC to 202 BC. The problem is, the people who suffer from this are not receiving the proper treatment. They are relying on the VA to help them but as time goes on, the VA has started providing less service. War veterans should be given immediate attention when it comes to post treatment. This is why more needs to be done to improve their treatment process. To get an appointment with the VA it takes a couple of weeks, up to months to finally be seen. people who suffer from PTSD are usually in bad shape as Colby Buzzel mentions in Thank You for Being Expendable and often have thoughts of suicide or self harm. Because of the VA s long wait time people are not getting the care they need quick enough to help them. In Thank You for Being Expendable Buzzel says, In my experience, the wait for an appointment was typically eight to 10 weeks, but sometimes as long as three to four months. This shows the way actual post war soldiers feel about the VA. With the amount of stress that war veterans go through with PTSD, they should be treated quickly and with the best possible care.... Jean Dominique Bauby was held captive in his chrysalis, but that did not stop him in becoming his own butterfly. The 2007 French film, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly was directed by Julian Schnabel. This film is about a forty three year old man, Jean Dominique Bauby, who was the editor of Elle Magazine. He was valuable to the fashion world. • 22. Marxist Theory And Social Class In contemporary Western societies, there is a social division due to stratification and classes. Strydom (2005) defines social class as group of individuals that share similarities like power and prestige. Saunders (2001) states that stratification is the presence of distinct social groups which are ranked. Therefore, the major difference is that stratification shows diversity while social classes defines an inequality. In Marxist theories, society is divided between two classes, and social stratification is the conflict between them. To illustrate this, China has faced communism for over a decade, in which has caused major social inequalities within the society. In fact, China is one of the few countries that the forces of communism and capitalism are involved. The ruling class are those who own the means of production distribution and exchange, they also called the Bourgeoisie, but the subject class is those who must sell their labour in the market place in order to live, they could be called the Proletariat. Marx believed that the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat was in permanent opposition, the bourgeoisie exploits the proletariat as the wages workers receive for their labour is a fraction of the market value of the

There were numerous studies that involved humans that were unethical and unjustifiable. Two examples that lead to major changes in research studies were the Nazi War crimes and the Tuskegee experiment. On December 17, 1942, the United States, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union issued the first joint declaration officially noting the mass murder of European Jews and resolving to prosecute those responsible for crimes against civilian populations. These trials became known as the Nuremberg trials or the Nazi War crime trials. The International Military Tribunal defined crimes against humanity as murder, extermination, enslavement, deportation or persecutions on political, racial, or religious grounds. (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, n.d., p. 1) As a result the Nuremberg Code was developed which declared that human beings deserve the dignity of humane treatment during medical experimentations. It outlines the following: The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential. The experiment should be such as to yield fruitful results of the good of society, unprocurable by other methods or means of study, and not random and unnecessary in nature. It should be conducted as to avoid all necessary and physical and mental suffering and injury. No experiment should be conducted, where there is an a priori reason to believe that death or disabling

From the outset, we are confronted with the physicality of the lost Dante, wandering in the perilous dark wood. His movement within the strange place is confused and faltering; `Io non so ben ridir com io v entrai . Moreover, it is clear that the physical distress he is experiencing is the visible manifestation of the mental anguish the poet is suffering. The first passage is probably the most famous in the whole work, that of Francesca da Rimini, in Canto V of the Inferno . Condemned for her inconstancy, that is to say her lust, Francesca is contained in the eternal whirlwind of the `bufera infernale , alongside her lover, Paolo. In a clear parallel to her sin, she is buffeted by the inconstant wind. Although unceasing, the wind changes direction and force, a movement which is mirrored by the language used to describe it: Di qua, di l #224;, di gi #249;, di su li mena; nulla speranza li conforta mai, non che di posa, ma minor pena. (43 45, Canto V, Inf.) In addition to the basic rhyme of the terza rima, the internal rhyme is carefully manipulated to imitate phonologically the swirling of the wind. By balancing the repeated [a] of `di qua, di la with the [u:] of the `di gi #249;, di su , Dante is able to mimic the up and down movement of the air. Francesca, then, is an extremely `mobile sinner. Although pausing to speak to Dante (the significance of which will be later discussed), she is compelled to move indeed, it is an integral part of her punishment. This compulsion is significant. Through rejecting a life of constancy on earth, whether willingly or otherwise, Francesca has sacrificed the free will she was allowed to exert on her body. They equate life to a maze, repeating the phrase over and over again throughout the song. The books that this song relates to in particular are Siddhartha, Life of Pi, the Alchemist, and The Things They Carried. In Maze, they talk about the state of the world. It could also be interpreted as the problems that life throws at you. You exit or you grow up means that when these problems come your way, you could either choose to give up or face your problems head on. In Life of Pi, Pi is basically battling for his life every single day. He could have easily given up after the first week but he chose to keep going. Pi even goes through a point where he is genuinely ready to die. By the next morning I had lost all fear of death, and I resolved to die (Martel, 241). He clearly does not die after that but proceeds to live on after he encounters another cast away. Another topic that the song touches on is the harshness of reality. It s a murder fact, reality kills . In Life of Pi, the readers can never be certain of what is the truth and what is completely fabricated. At the end of the novel Pi asks Which is the better story, the story with the animals or the story without the animals (Martel, 317). A Priority based Compromise Fuzzy Goal Programming Approach for Channel Allocation Problem Abstract Some companies produce and sell all of their own products through their own internal channels and some use multiple external channels to distribute goods to consumers. Many authors have presented mathematical model for channel allocation problem. Tsai et al (2008) presented a mixed integer fuzzy goal programming model for channel allocation problem considering three different fuzzy goals. In this paper we use the weighted root power mean method of aggregation for obtaining a priority based solution of channel allocation problem where preferences are defined in terms of weights. Keywords: Channel Allocation problem, Compromise fuzzy goal programming, multiobjective optimization, weighted goal programming. 1.Introduction Firms distribute their product through multiple distribution channels which include direct and indirect channels. The channel in which distribution function is grouped by a supplier and one or more of intermediaries, is known as an indirect channel. However, a direct channel distributes products from producers to the users directly without introducing any intermediaries. Many reasons can be presented for the firms to adopt multiple channel strategy because advances in information and manufacturing technology have encouraged multiple channels. However, multiple channels for distribution of the products in the market arise many challenges and one of them is the

Despite vocalizing their experiences in hopes of change, women are pushed back into their subservient positions with the assurance that behind every great man is an even greater woman without being given the agency to move forward. Often, the economy serves as a systematic force of oppression for women. In this paper I will argue that the Fearless Girl statue represents the continuation of economic exploitation of women as a means of publicity. I believe this is the case because throughout history America has used the economy to oppress women while simultaneously falsely supporting them as demonstrated through the encouragement of the American Dream in the 1950s, the lack of opportunity for improvement and conversation in the 1960s and 1970s, and through the most recent Fearless Girl statue. To better understand the magnitude of economic oppression, several ideas must be defined. Agency relates back to the freewill of something, be it an individual, group, or otherwise. Often debated, agency has been generally agreed upon as an issue of choice. Aristotle took the view that agency is composed of an agent s intentions paired with their reason for action in order to achieve a goal (Schlosser). For the sake of feminism and this paper, an example would be women, the agents, using their freewill with intentions of
  • 42. The History and Evoluition of Dance Modern dance was created as a rebellion against the prevalent dance forms of the time, ballet and Vaudeville. It is a form of theatrical dance, known for its continual fusion of non western style and ideas, which allows for a fresh source of movement inspiration. Choreographers rejected what they classified as the inflexible and imperialistic nature of ballet, and in order to be taken seriously as artists rather than simple entertainers they created a new art form. Artists Loie Fuller, Isadora Duncan, and Ruth St. Denis are considered to be the pioneers of modern dancein America. Dance is a social institution, recognized as being an important function in civilized life. The following essay will focus on the theory and work of artist Isadora Duncan, while incorporating lecture notes and articles of both authors Sally Bane and Ann Daly to explain the historical situations that culminated in the development of early modern dance. Arising from the 20th century modern dance was a form of cultural collaboration and exploration, as well as a resistance to colonial repression. Modern dance allowed for the experimentation of the new as well as a freer form of dance movement. Choreographers drew on exotic sources, and example of this illustrated in the work of Isadora Duncan with her use of Greek culture as a movement inspiration. Artists act as both the choreographer and performer creating their own conventions, or dance language. The history of the past relates to the history of

  • 44. Darwin s Theory Of Evolution Of Species In 1831, a newly graduated botanist named Charles Darwin was offered a position on a five year voyage mapping the coasts of South America. Darwin eagerly accepted this offer, seeing it as an opportunity to study specimens discovered on his journey. Upon returning to London, Darwin spent the next ten years meticulously cataloging and researching his findings. It was these studies that gave birth to a much deeper and more impactful discussion; the origins of species. Prior to Darwin s studies the discussion of the origin of man was dominated by creationism, or the belief that we derive from god, who created us all in his image. For the next thirty years, Darwin devoted himself to researching the long standing question where did we come... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is more of an alternate perspective on the driving force behind biological evolution. Rather than thinking that natural selection and random mutation lead evolution, theistic evolutionists hypothesize that god only used evolution as a means to create man, a process often referred to as Guided Evolution . Regardless of the interpretation, both forms assert that life stems from a common ancestor, created by god and designed to be the beginning of the evolutionary process. A glaring objection to this idea is that of the Book of Genesis, which displays the origin of man from a creationist point of view. According to this piece of work, God created the physical world in entirety within six days, and finally creating man from dust on the seventh day. Theistic evolutionists emphasize the metaphorical meaning behind the Book of Genesis, while holding their position that the words should not be taken literally, and the components of the story did not actually happen. There are several arguments that are made in opposition to guided evolution, the most widely used objection is the Problem of Evil . The problem of evil questions how one could reconcile the existence evil in the world with an omnibenevolent god. In regards to guided evolution, if god really designed the entire process with an end goal of creating man, why include so many wasteful and cruel components? If god was in fact all loving
  • 45. Justice Pay In Plato s The Republic The Republic Does Justice Pay In the Introduction of Plato s Republic, a very important theme is depicted. It is the argument of whether it is beneficial for a person to lead a good and just existence. The greatly argued position that justice does not pay, is argued by three men Thrasymachus, Glaucon, and Adeimantus. By incorporating all three men into a collective effort I believe I can give a more flattering depiction of injustice. First, we must explore the basis of the moral skepticism argument in The Republic, given by Thrasymachus. Thrasymachus view follows the disbelief in morality that was common during the time. The principle part of his argument is, the interests of the stronger (or ruling) party in a society are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Socrates makes a few very strong refutes, which will be discussed later, and seems to dishearten the argumentative spirit of Thrasymachus. The argument begins to fall apart when he is forced to restate his main point. The restatement is that ordinary morality is simply the behavior imposed by exploiter on exploited, and thus is someone else s interest (342 e). In this version of his original point, he also touches on a very important fact that, in everyday life, the pursuit of self interest is natural and just. Thrasymachus depicts this point by undeniable fact that in a professional sense no one wants to work for free, and that they expect some benefits in their own interest for their efforts. After showing dissatisfaction with Socrates refutation, Thrasymachus gives way to Glaucon who begins to argue for the benefits of injustice in everyday life. Glaucon s argument begins with a question of whether the just or unjust man is happier, and continues on a tangent from there. He states that morality is based on convenience, and that it is natural to pursue one s own interests. He says that justice can pretty much be summed up as splitting the difference of two evils. The first, being forced to restrain one s self from certain interests, and the other being becoming the victim of injustice from another person. This, to me, is the most convincing part

Act V in A Midsummer Night s Dream by William Shakespeare A: The final act at first seems completely unnecessary to the overall plot of the play. After all, in Act Four we not only have the lovers intent on getting married, but there has been a happy resolution to the overall conflict. Thus, the immediate question which arises is why Shakespeare felt it necessary to include this act. The answer lies in part with the entrance of all the characters in the final scene (with the exception of Egeus); this acts as a sort of encore to resolve any unanswered questions the audience may have about any of the characters. In Act Five the play is resolved with a typical happy ending with Lysander and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This too has to be done if the happy ending is to be maintained. Philostrate is another example of disgruntled party in Act Five as well as Egeus as he didn t want to see the mechanical s play again, but in the end was simply overruled by Theseus. Perhaps Shakespeare is trying to make the point that this, like many plays conclusions, might be a manufactured happy ending. When you had read halfway through the play the last thing that you would have seen coming was a happy ending, in this way the happy ending isn t cheap and wasn t predictable. It was also most clearly the result of crucial help from the fairies . Perhaps the most telling line of the last act is when Theseus asks, How shall we find the concord of this discord? but that is exactly what has happened in the play itself, namely there has been a resolution to the discord of the lovers in the initial scenes, which by the end has turned into concord. This makes the play perfect for an epithalamium (a play put on at a wedding). Perhaps Shakespeare may even have been contracted to write this play as an epithalamium. The sub plot, revolving around the mechanicals, also ends happily. Bottom is not transported as they had feared, but arrives in time to save the interlude, which,
