December 2014 Abstract Instructional practices based in social constructivism involve students
constructing new knowledge utilizing social interaction amongst themselves and with teachers.
Learner centered classrooms require significant planning and forethought by teachers to ensure that
instruction is well structured, but fluid enough to allow for student led inquiry. This paper analyzes
several studies and discussions put forth within the last five years that discuss how instructional
practices, like cooperative learning, inquiry based learning and scaffolding, are ways teachers can use
social constructivist based practices in the classroom. While most of the studies, which were mostly
done within a single school in a small number of classrooms, show that cooperative learning, inquiry
based learning and scaffolding is effective, more studies are needed to demonstrated a direct
correlation between these practices and student achievement on a broader scale.

The chapters in Essentials of Health Social and Behavioral Theory in Public Health, I chose to critique

Operationalized
After reading these three chapters, I began to understand that all of the chapters discussed education,
understanding the kinds of social behavioral that could be applicable to understanding the theories of
communication, populations, health promotion programs, schools, worksites and communication

As the drastic increase of social media networks has increased, so too has the cyberbullying
prevalence. Merriam Webster defines cyberbullying as the electronic posting of mean spirited
messages about a person often done anonymously. Kassandra Gahagan and her fellow colleagues
studied cyberbullying among students and its outcomes. Studies show higher rates of suicidal thoughts
and behaviors with victims of cyberbullying, along with higher rates of depression, anxiety and
paranoia (Gahagan, Vaterlaus Frost, 2015). While cyberbullying can be both intentional or
unintentional, it is a negative process which effects the victim. This includes comments, posts without
consent and messages. The study conducted sought to determine the prevalence of cyberbullying
among young adults and the negative outcomes through asking three questions. While cyberbullying
continues to be an ongoing controversy, depression is steadily increasing among social media users.
Munmun Choudhury and fellow colleagues studied negative affiliation of social media and mental
health, predicting depression through social media use. In another study, Instagram was found to have

The series is about Cameron Morgan, a teenage girl who goes to a private school called the Gallagher
Academy for Exceptional Young Women. From the outside, it looks like an ordinary all girls private
boarding school. Except that it s not. Because it actually teaches its students to become a spy. You can
expect unconventional subjects in their curriculum such as Covert Operations, Protection and

Cammie couldn t tell the truth about her identity to Josh (at least the one which Josh is allowed to
know). It could be solved if only Cammie was a little bit honest to Josh. Yet, the plot doesn t feel
dragged out. Probably because I enjoy the narration and the dialogue between the characters. The
narration might seem childish, with all the exclamation point and capital letters to MAKE A POINT!!
But it didn t annoy me. It s fun. Another thing that I like about this book is how the girls are not
damsel in distress. They are smart and tough. Though sometimes they have to hide the fact that they
are trained spies (depending on your clearance), still, reading about amazing tough girls is always a
plus. They also know their priorities, which is quite a rare case in YA books. Sure, there are times
when she doubt it. But not to the point where she makes dumb decision, at least in my opinion, and I
totally support that. All in all, I m surprised at how much I like this book. If you re looking for a fun
and fast paced YA book, I totally recommend this book. As for the rest of the series, I m looking
forward to reading

A rational review of the information available from social research on the subject of polygamy starts
with the study of polygamous relationships found in nature. In nature, polygamy is usually the result
of three factors: 1) the scarcity of the male species (polygyny); 2) the need for healthy partners to
propagate the species in societies where disease or lack of food is a concern; 3) the desire for a partner
of higher wealth and/or status. (Golden) In humans, hunter gatherer and tribal societies have typically
been polygamous for all three of these reasons but in our western culture these justifications are rarely
relevant. Regarding the first point, in most cultures in our world today (excepting the Chinese where
population control has skewed the balance), the population is evenly balanced between men and
women, especially in Western cultures. Regarding the need to mate with a healthier specimen, in
Western culture, sickness and disease strike the sexes more or less equally. The third factor, the desire
for a partner of higher wealth and/or status, is still relevant but the advantages of a polygamous

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the creation of the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan and to
argue that it is a necessary and potentially effective way to ensure that workers in the private sector in
Ontario will be able to retire and live comfortably. This conclusion is not made lightly as it is import
to view any broadening of government influence through the most critical of lenses. However, there is
an increasing need for Ontarians to save for retirement and it is becoming more and more apparent
that private pension plans will not be able to meet the needs of most people. This is because too few
people have private pensions and the once that do exist sit on volatile ground. In order to understand
why the ORPP is justifiable policy, it is necessary to understand the scope, extent and dimensions of
the policy problem. With the Baby Boomers in the process of retirement there are fewer people paying

Have you ever longed to do something? Or what about longed to be with someone? In Emily
Dickinson s poem, Wild Nights Wild Nights she writes about longing to be with a lover. The poem
shows a longing to be with her lover once again. The first stanza is about her longing to be with the
lover. The second stanza is the biggest shift and the climax, the speaker has reached her limit. The
speaker is frustrated that they cannot be with the lover and is at breaking point. However, the third
stanza relates back to the first by longing for the lover once again. Emily Dickinson s self reserved,
recluse lifestyle was influential in Wild Nights Wild Nights , as she uses metaphor, imagery, and
stanzas to show her passion in a restrictive religious culture. Dickinson uses metaphors in the poem
Wild Nights Wild Nights. Metaphor, a direct comparison between two unlike things, is used to
compare the heart of the speaker and the port of a coastal town. Dickinson writes that the lover s heart
[is] in a port (5). The lover is not literally in a port but Dickinson uses the idea of being stuck in a port
to show how frustrated the speaker is that they cannot be with her lover. At this point, in the poem, the
speaker is feeling longing and frustration together create the breaking point and climax. This metaphor
relates back to Dickinson s personal life, as a girl who felt restricted by the people around her, she
often felt the longing the speaker expresses in Wild Nights Wild Nights . However, Dickinson grew up
Calvinist and she attended religious services as a child. As an adult, she did not join the church and
stopped going to services altogether. This is a huge influence in her poems because it showed how she
was then separated from many different aspects of their society. Dickinson did not keep an active

been termed recluse and hermit. Both terms sensationalize a decision that has come to be seen as
