Social Media Censorship In America
Social media censorship has a big impact on American society where there s been a lot of control over
what someone can post on the internet. The companies have created strict policies towards what
people can post and a lot of the users are not happy. The big problem is that social media companies
have too much power with censoring what people say and read, which is limiting people s freedom of
speech and I don t believe that companies should censor a lot of the things people post in social media
unless is something bad that can harm someone. Companies find ways to censor people s media post
either because they believe it can hurt a country s image or they believe others wouldn t like it.
When it comes to social media everyone believes they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People only think that this mostly happens in the United states but it happens all around the world
such as Venezuela, Hungary, Pakistan, Turkey, Russia, etc. In Venezuela they are super strict with the
censorship that The government has passed legislation limiting press freedom, restricted access to
public information, levied fines and taxes on media companies... The government had gotten so strict
that they would use violence to those who posted bad things about the country or do something else
that could stop the user from posting. In 2014, Venezuela had a problem where a violent clash between
the police and protesters burst, where the protesters were standing up because a crime on a provincial
campus had happened, but it ended up causing a lot of violence. People started posting pictures of
dead and wounded people in twitter but twitter had blocked all the images. This shows that the
government is trying to cover up the problems that was occurring in Venezuela because it can hurt
how they look as a country and people can start to think this it is an unsafe place to live in. In the
article Censorship in the social media it states, Diaz had posted to Facebook a short docudrama by a
Venezuelan artist about the conditions of political prisoners.. But she notices soon after uploading the
video had disappeared. She tried to re upload it, she got a message that the action was disallowed, but
was given no further explanation. Censorship has gone far to the point that companies are just deleting
the post with no explanation. That s a big problem because we need reasons to why they re getting rid
of our post. If the companies are taking away the people s right of speech, meaning they can say
whatever they feel like it, then they deserve at least an explanation to why it wasn t

Inhibition Effect
To test the possibility that inhibition effect was generated from the use of only two alternative
peripheral stimuli, following experiment was carried out. A central box and four peripheral boxes were
used in the experiment and the positive IOR result ruled out the possible explanation that inhibition
limited to the two alternative boxes.
In the double cue experiment, inhibition showed when attention was split to two sides by both
simultaneously brightening peripheral boxes while no inhibition showed if the cue remained at the
center in the arrow experiment. Therefore, Posner and Cohen concluded that attentional orienting is
not necessary in inhibition of return.
Another two experiments were conducted to determine the relation between inhibition and eye
movement. In the first of the two experiments were Back and Forth Experiment, participants were
asked to fixate to the center box and then read the digit from one of the two peripheral boxes, which
was the cue. After that, returned their eyes to the center box when it was brightened. The target was
given after the brightening of the central box. A strong inhibitory effect showed for at least 1.5 sec at
the cued location. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rafal et al (1989) claim that rather than two separate pathways, endogenous and exogenous
activations, oculomotor preparation may be a better explanation for IOR generation. Rafal et al (1989)
conclude that endogenous and exogenous activations are competing with each other to access the
oculomotor apparatus. IOR is generated regardless of whether oculomotor preparation was initiated
endogenously or exogenously. However, it is suggested that IOR not only represents a change in
attentional bias but also related to oculomotor system. IOR can be generated in both attentional and
oculomotor systems (Hunt and Kingstone,

How Does Ray Bradbury Use Light And Dark In Fahrenheit 451
Title
In Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451, he uses light and dark as contrasts is used as a motif to help further
develop differences between people in society through characterization and plot. Light symbolizes
knowledge and purity; on the other hand, darkness shows ignorance in the society, while also being a
form of safety. Bradbury uses light versus dark to compare purity and ignorance through
characterization. Before Montag found the value behind books, he would come home from his job of
burning books. The first night of meeting Clarisse while walking home from work, he describes her
face as a fragile milk crystal with a soft and constant light in it. It was not a hysterical light of
electricity but what? But the strangely comfortable

Pernicious Anemia In The 1800s
In the 1800s, there was a disease called pernicious anemia. Pernicious anemia was affecting in older
people and death occurred within two to five years. In 1926, George Richards Minot discovered the
cure for pernicious anemia was nutrients in liver, which was the previous treatment for this disease,
and that it was absence of nutrients. This resulted in the seclusion of a vitamin which we now call
vitamin B₁₂. George Minot along with William Murphy and George Whipple received a Nobel Prize in
1934 for their discovery, though they were not the first to propose that it was a lack of nutrients.
Vitamin B₁₂ serves multiple purposes in the body. Vitamin B₁₂ is the only form of vitamin B stored in

Many mental disorders may be cured, partly fixed, or certain symptoms may disappear when given
extra B₁₂. Some of these disorders include but are not limited to are dementia, depression, and mental
deterioration. Asthma, bursitis, and bone spur pain have been treated with vitamin B₁₂. Vitamin B₁₂ is
naturally found in animal products such as poultry, eggs, shellfish, etc. It is also in foods similar to
nutritional yeast. B₁₂ is commonly cannot be found in plant foods. Other sources of vitamin B₁₂ are
dietary supplements, tablets/lozenges, and prescription medications. In dietary supplements the
vitamin is the form of cyanocobalamin which the body changes to methylcobalamin and 5
deoxyadenosylcobalamin. The ability to absorb the vitamin through the supplements is restricted due
to the volume of the body s intrinsic factor. Tablets/lozenges are known to have exceptional
bioavailability. Prescription medications such as intramuscular injections can come in the form of
cyanocobalamin or hydroxocobalamin and is used to treat vitamin B₁₂ deficiencies. Prescription
medication can come in a gel form for people who would take it instead of injections and raises

Racial Segregation, By Lorraine Hansberry
Seems like God don t see fit to give the black man nothing but dreams but He did give us children to
make the dreams seem worthwhile, once stated by Lorraine Hansberry. Racial segregation has been a
huge topic in our society. Believe it or not, just a few decades ago African American people did not
have the basic equality rights that white citizens were given. Something as simple as having a dream
to become an author seemed out of reach; even impossible some might have said. Living in this kind
of a world was unfortunately a reality for Lorraine Hansberry. Growing up she lived in a world of
racial segregation and not being giving the same opportunities as fellow white citizens in the United
States. Throughout her life civil rights was a major influence for her. Hansberry was able to express
the unwavering need for civil rights through her literature. Her poems and plays showed the unjust
treatment of African Americans. She was able to make a difference in her own life, as well as the lives
of her audience through her portrayal of pre civil rights. With this in mind, Lorraine Hansberry was a
major author, playwright, and activist during the Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem Renaissance was a
time of rebirth and renewal for the African American peoples. The African American peoples would
express themselves through music, writing, and art all through an autobiographical standpoint.
Because of the Harlem Renaissance, the African American society was changed forever. The

Heart Of Darkness Vs Apocalypse Now Essay
Apocalypse Now vs. Heart of Darkness A Scene Analysis We never realize how important something
is to us until it s lost, and the characters in both Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness are no
exception. Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is a novel about a character named Marlow, who is on
a ship along with a sea crew. He shares his adventures in Africa as his curiosity about the man named
Kurtz motivates him to search for him. Meanwhile, Apocalypse Now takes a twist on the tale, taking
place during the Vietnam War. Captain Willard is a soldier part of the U.S. forces sent to search
Vietnam to search for Kurtz, a man who has gone rogue from the army and kept himself hidden from
others, and execute him. Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now both illustrate a similar scene, the
helmsman s death along with Clean s and Chief s death in respective stories, as well as deviate from
each other while retaining identical meanings that bring together an underlying message between these
two stories. Good and evil are comparable to a wolf in sheep s clothing, or in Heart of Darkness,

Conrad comes to the conclusion that we should understand what s truly bad and good in the world and
the importance of what we have and through his use of reversal of colors and Marlow s personality
respectively from the Helmsman s death. CoppolaCoppla expands this approach from the deviations
made through the movie, as Clean s death by bullets and his tape by his family signifying the evil
overrunning the good. Meanwhile, the Chief s grieving and rage to the show the sorrow after losing
what we lost in the harsh world surrounding around us . The underlying meaning that both authors try
to convey together is that we must be considerate of our actions. What people and ourselves do to each
other may be evil, and as a result, we lose the good things that are precious to

Mycobacterium Avium Subspecies Paratuberculosis Case Study
The zoonotic potential of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) has been
established owing to similarities in clinical findings and pathological lesions between Johne s disease
(JD) (Paratuberculosis) in animals and Crohn s disease (CD) in humans. Clinical symptoms of
paratuberculosis results in chronic intermittent diarrhea, fever, weight loss and remission and relapse,
with unresponsiveness to antibiotics leading to progressive wasting, emaciation and death.
Pathological lesions of paratuberculosis in human and animals are characterized by chronic intestinal
granulomatous inflammation (Momotani et al., 2012). MAP has widest host range from domestic to

Live MAP bacilli has been reported in milk of woman suffering with Crohn s disease (Naser et al.,
2000; 2009; Bannantine et al., 2014). Pasteurized milk and dairy products also carry MAP bacilli as it
withstands pasteurization temperature (Slana et al., 2008; Shankar et al., 2010; Singh et al., 2016;
Stephen et al., 2016). Similarly baby milk powder prepared from MAP containing milk could expose
children and immuno compromised people at high risk to MAP infection (Hruska et al., 2011). Its long
survival (upto 250 days) and dormancy in the environment sources as soil and water pose a threat for
the spread of the disease (Larsan et al., 1956; Singh et al., 2012). Widespread presence of MAP in
humans and animals in India may be due to failure of currently available diagnostic reagents. Disease
is most effectively identified by cultivation and isolation of MAP from feces but being expensive and
having long incubation time (up to 16 weeks) and false negatives in samples that have low
concentrations of MAP, this method exhibits its limitation (Collins, 1996; Garg et al., 2015). Though
nucleic acid based PCR approaches are confirmatory test but sometimes have poor sensitivity as PCR

Dna Coding For Ampicillin Resistance And Green Fluorescent...
Abstract This experiment was performed to assess the efficacy of genetic transformations on bacteria
via plasmid DNA coding for ampicillin resistance and green fluorescent protein. Genetic
transformation was studied by taking transformed and untransformed Escherichia Coli (E. coli) and
placing them on various media to observe gene expression via growth and color under UV light. The
transformed E. coli were able to grow on ampicillin while the untransformed E. coli, which lacked the
plasmid genes for ampicillin resistance, only grew on nutrient broth. In the presence of arabinose, the
transformed E. coli glowed green. These results support the previous scientific understanding of
bacterial competency, vectors, and gene expression and support gene transformations as an effective
method to transfer the desirable DNA of one organism into another organism s DNA. These results
can be applied to real world issues such as medical treatments, food production, and environmental
conservation.
Introduction
Genetic engineering is used in health treatments, agricultural applications, and environmental
solutions. Genetic transformations incorporate foreign genetic material into the DNA of a different
organism via a vector, which carries the genetic material. Plasmid DNA is small, round, and
autonomous, due to its origin of replication. In biotechnology, plasmids carry beneficial genes, such as
antibiotic resistance, and also a reporter protein, in this case, Green Fluorescent Protein

You Are Never Too Old to Do Anything
You are never too old to do anything People that think that elderly people are too old to do the things
which the younger generation are quite capable to do are guilty of both; lack of conviction and
uncertainty. Long standing people are just as capable as we are of fulfilling their dreams and living the
way that they want to live due to them being more experienced than us in life for which they know
more than the younger generation. Undoubtedly, there will be differing opinions from their family
members and from the people that care about them about this issue. However, taking the movie Rocky

Essay on Comparing the Atkins Diet and the Zone Diet
Comparing the Atkins Diet and the Zone Diet
The Atkins and the Zone Diet both view carbohydrates as one of the key nutrients in attaining a
reasonable weight. The Atkins Diet reduces one s intake of carbohydrates to the bare minimum
substituting them with high fats and proteins. Insulin levels within the body are maintained at a
constant level with these foods. But many skeptics do not believe that the Atkins choice of food is
very healthy. The Zone Diet believes in more of a balance of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins which
affects the body as a whole. Critics believe the Zone Diet to be healthy but do not necessarily believe
in the achievement of a better body system. The Atkins and the Zone Diets differ in some ways and ...

This regimen consists of 40% carbohydrates, 30% fats, and 30% protein. A small amount of protein or
the size of one s palm at every meal is adequate along with twice the size of the protein portion for
carbohydrates such as vegetables, fruits, or beans. Fats such as olives, nuts, and avocados can
complete the meal. The higher proportion of carbohydrates is okay because the fat helps to slow down
the rate of absorption of carbohydrates into the body (www.webmd.com). The ratios of nutrients in
both the Atkins and the Zone Diets determine how the body reacts and loses weight.
The proportion of foods in the Atkins and the Zone Diets lead to a certain desirable reaction within the
body. The low carbohydrate Atkins Diet focuses on the reduction of insulin levels. Insulin is a
hormone the body releases to move the broken down carbohydrates or glucose from the blood into the
muscles and fat cells for storage. Once the glucose levels are normal again, the excess insulin causes
the body to crave more carbohydrates until the insulin levels become steady again. The Atkins diet
stresses eating high fat and protein because these nutrients do not create the insulin response that
carbohydrates do. The body then learns to use the stored fat as an energy source rather than the
carbohydrates. By severely limiting carbohydrate intake the Atkins Diet almost eliminates the hunger
roller coaster (www.webmd.com) caused by insulin levels. The

Halloween Night vs. Prom Night
Halloween Night vs. Prom Night Ghosts, princesses, superheroes, and so many other strange
characters are seen walking around during the night of October 31st, the night known as Halloween.
Halloween is the night most famously known for haunted houses, candy, black cats, witches and
ghosts. For one magical night a year, known as prom, teenagers get to feel and dress like princes and
princesses and to attend their first formal event before becoming an adult. For that night, tiaras, limos,
corsages, tuxedos and evening gowns are all the rage. Both nights are important nights when growing
up, and even though they are so different, they actually have some things in common. Halloween night

Halloween is the one night a year children or teenagers can dress up and act differently. They wear
costumes and get to be a different person or thing for the night. Even though prom is not celebrated on
the same date every year, it is still one night of dressing up. Teenagers get to dress up formally and
also act differently for the night. The attire is usually formal unless the prom has a certain theme that
calls for them to dress up in costumes. The purpose of both nights is about dressing up, but, the attire
is different for both events. The second point of comparison is that both are a night of social events.
Depending on how each family celebrates Halloween it can be a night for families to go out together
and trick or treat together, or the children can go out with a group of friends to go trick or treating.
Many costume parties are thrown to celebrate the night and there are many haunted houses to go
through with friends or family. Prom night is an important social dance event where teenagers in high
school get together with their friends before and after prom. Both boys and girls might get together
before prom to get ready together and then take pictures with friends and family. Before attending the
dance they go out to dinner with their friends and take a limo to the prom venue. Many parties are held
after the prom to continue the night s celebrations.

Essentials Of Progression
The Essentials of Progression Modern society is affected by technology in various ways as it
dominates and prevails in our everyday lives. Technology has had a greater impact on humankind

advancements will continue to effect our future generations drastically. Some people believe
technology impedes society s progression by causing sedentary or laziness, isolation, concentration

Chickenpox and its Epidemiology
Chickenpox is a viral infection caused by the Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) transmitted via the
respiratory route that causes itchy, blisters like rashes usually lasting about 5 10 days. It is highly
contagious transmitted by person to person contact (direct) from respiratory secretions or indirectly
through contact with airborne respiratory droplets, via soiled inanimate objects infected by discharge
from skin lesions, vesicle discharges or nasopharyngeal secretions. The incubation period lasts about

This contributes to the development of chicken pox in individuals who don t have health insurance or
is an illegal immigrant, they will be less likely to participate in primary prevention and more likely to
delay obtaining medical treatment. Some barriers to health services that contributes to the
development of the disease includes high cost, lack of availability or in the case of vaccine shortage
mostly seen in developing countries and limited language access. These barriers can cause unmet
health needs and inability to receive preventative services. Individual behavior as a determinant of
health plays a major role in health outcomes. Individual behavior consists of diet, physical activity,
hand washing and compliance with vaccine preventable diseases. This factor contributes to the
development of chickenpox when individuals refused be vaccinated and do not have natural immunity
against the disease. Therefore in an epidemic of chickenpox these individuals have a higher risk of
contracting the disease. Biological and genetic factors affects specific populations more than others.
An example of a genetic determinant of health is Sickle Cell Disease which is a condition
characterized by the offspring inheriting the disease because both parents carry the sickle cell gene. In
the case of chickenpox there is no biological or genetic factors that contributes to a person developing
the disease as

Turning Point Of The American Revolution
Overall, the American Revolution is not a massive turning point in our history socially. It did not make
any major changes to the social structure, how people were treated, and local laws. It only really
exacerbated issues that were inevitable to change, such as voting rights and african american s rights.
The only real change was the new political system. The American Revolution was a turning point in
our history, but not one that should be blown out of proportion as many current day people have.
Most of the people in America before the revolution had no reason to revolt. In fact, nearly ⅔ of all
colonists were either neutral or against going to war with England. They had no reason to escape
England s bond. The only people who were set to gain anything from the revolution was the elites and
the wealthy of the time. In fact, most of those whom were loyal to the Revolution either kept or gained
great swathes of land, as Lord Fairfax had (84). Also, most of the wealthy would buy in so to say by
purchasing government bonds that would exponentially grow value as the nation would grow in the
future. Not only for these reasons did the wealthy prosper. They were also promised a head at the table
when forming the new nation. As Zinn points out on page 90, the rich were in a position to start
writing business friendly laws that would benefit them. The American Revolution is usually seen as a
revolution of the people, but it is quite obvious that it was simply an orchestrated coup

The grocery store shelves are filled with many varieties, sizes, and brands of the same item. There are
numerous kinds of popcorn, large and small, produced by different manufacturers. Some people
choose products based on need, some base their decisions on price and some base their decision on
quality or brand loyalty. With all of these options it can be difficult to choose. You may want to save

*Peanut oil has a higher smoke point and has less of a chance of burning during the experiment.
4.Once stove has reached medium high heat (3 minutes has passed), insert 1 popcorn kernel into the

*This step makes sure the stove is hot enough for the popcorn to pop.
5.Once test kernel has popped, pour in the popcorn kernels into the pot, put the pot top on, and

*The timer has to be started as soon as the popcorn is put into the pot so that the time stays consistent.
When the top is put on, after the popcorn is put in the pot, it not only keeps the popped popcorn in the

The Pros And Cons Of Religious Persecution
When you think yours is the only true path you forever chain yourself to judging others and narrow
the vision of God. The road to righteousness and arrogance is a parallel road that can intersect each
other several times throughout a person s life. It s often hard to recognize one road from another. What
makes them different is the road to righteousness is paved with the love of humanity. The road to
arrogance is paved with the love of self. (Shannon L. Alder). This means many people are acquitted
but some people still are tormenting them without any resistant. Crime, hate, torture, and violence all
lead to religious persecution. Every person in the world has its own personality and belief. These
beliefs cause opponents between people and to seek revenge these people persecute one of their

believe. Should religious persecution occur in any country such as: Iran, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, or
Turkmenistan? Should there be violence and threat towards people because of their belief? Is it
possible to stop this tragedy event happening in many countries? Or will there be an end towards
hatred, violence, and death? Every person can give a helping hand and stand up for what they think is
right. Religious persecution has consciousness towards it; many of the people and organization work
on impeding religious persecution, and each person can take an action to support towards barring

proportion of recorded locations within a given habitat (Manley et al. 1993) and selection as the
proportion of recorded locations within a habitat divided by the proportion of the habitat available
within the home range (Manley et al. 1993). Wild pigs were first introduced to North America when
they were brought the United States in the sixtieth century from Eurasia (Brook Van Beest 2014;

They are successful invaders due to their high adaptability to novel environments (McClure et al 2015;
Michel et al 2017) and food sources (Stolle et al 2015). Wild pigs also have a high reproductive rate,
with females averaging 5.6 fetuses in Saskatchewan (Koen et al. 2018), though it is important to note
that this value is from a small sample size and was not determined to be statistically significant (Koen
et al. 2018). It is however the only estimation of wild pig reproductive rate available in Canada. High
birth rate plus a quick gestation period that allows pigs to potentially breed at least twice a year
(Bieber Ruf 2005), coupled with the fact that wild pigs have no natural predators in Canada,
population growth and expansion is inevitable. Pigs are known to be carriers and transmitters of a
number of diseases like swine brucellosis, pseudorabies, and Escherichia coli (Michel et al 2017). All
of which pose potential health risks for not only livestock and wildlife but humans as well. Second, it
is well established that wild pigs contribute to the billions of dollars in agricultural damage done by
invasive species in the United States each year (McClure et al 2015). While claims of reported crop
damage in Canada associated with wild pigs has been minimal to this point, the ever expanding
populations all but ensure that crop damage claims will increase

Cadbury Shweppes Company Case Study
Trust is defined as the willingness to be vulnerable to a trustee based on positive expectations about
the trustees actions and intentions (Colquitt p. 205). Trust is one of the biggest aspects in the
organizational realm. In order to instill proper work ethics, you must trust that your employer is
instilling the correct values, and vice versa, you must trust that your employees will carry out those
work ethics when not being monitored closely, or in other words Integrity, defined as the perception
that the authorities adhere to a set of values and principles that the trustor finds acceptable (Colquitt P.

The Department Of Health And Human Services Essay
Creating a flowchart can help members of a team understand how a workflow process works and also
reduce unnecessary steps. By making a protocol appear simpler and easier to follow, the organization
can help nurses be more consistent with the protocol and therefore improve patient outcomes.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (n.d.), a flowchart helps provide a
visual aspect of the workflow by conveying the sequence and interactions of activities and tasks and
thus clarifying key work processes, identifying who performs what activities and tasks, recognizing
activities and tasks that should be performed by another person, and identifying unnecessary or non
value added activities and tasks that you might choose to eliminate (para. 2). The purpose of this paper
is to create a flowchart that identifies health conditions that may require a detainee to obtain medical
clearance from the emergency department (ED) before being admitted to the detention center.
Workflow Process of Admitting a New Detainee The current process of admitting new detainees in the
detention center that I work for starts by inmates arriving at the detention center accompanied by the
arresting officer. By following the fit for confinement protocols, the nurse can decide if a detainee can
be accepted into our facility or sent to ED to obtain medical clearance. The first step of the intake
screening process is asking the inmate if he/she has any deformity of bones or suspicion of

Road Test
Do you remember the place where you took your car for the first time? Being able to take your car
anywhere you wanted without your parents is probably the first step to freedom for teenagers. Sadly,
there is one big process one must go through to be able to drive a car on your own. Everyone in New
Jersey is required to take a written test and a road test to determine if they are eligible for their license.
From experience, I recommend everyone who hasn t taken his or her exams for a license to study and
practice often. Getting my license was one of the most challenging and rewarding tasks I ever had to
do however using my prior knowledge and helpful resources, I was able to pass the road test
successfully.
To begin with, I passed the written exam with a high grade and this was the easiest part. The real
trouble was getting behind the wheel. Passing the written exam showed I had knowledge about driving
on the road, but when it came to the real thing it was difficult. There are so many parts to a car and
having never driven a car before, you could see how it may have been a challenge. When it was time
to start driving I was nervous I would hit another car or just lose control. I was so worried that I would

still one problem, I had to memorize the rules of the road. There was just so much to remember like

important thing of being on the road is knowing the rules and it took me a while to remember all of
them. One of the toughest troubles I had was parallel parking. Parallel parking was a requirement for
passing the road test and it was something I had trouble with a lot. Everyday my parents took me to

White House React To Women s March With Silence Analysis
The article of the week White House reacts to Women s March With Silence was basically about how
Donald Trump is ignoring all the protests right outside the White House. The article was week was
interesting, because of the way reacted to the protests. There were hundreds of thousand of people
protesting for Women s March all over the country. What I learned from the article is how hundreds of
thousands of people protested against Donald Trump. It surprises me that Trump barely reacted to the
protesters right outside the White House.
First of all, I think Donald Trump shouldn t have ignored the protests. He addressed the protests with a

Which means he obviously saw them. Then, Trump s Press Secretary Sean Spicer planned to make a
statement. All Spicer did was scold reporters, and he did not answer any protest question. I researched

president elect. Donald Trump s inauguration was on January 20th 2017. Supreme Court Chief Justice
John Roberts swore in Donald Trump. Since Trump is our new president, he should at least address the
protesters.
Besides, the first amendment law states congress shall make no law abridging freedom of speech. I
think it is really amazing so many came to protest outside the White House. I didn t think so many
people would be protesting. I really think all these protests are great, we are using the first
amendment. All these woman marching down to the White to protest against Trump, I am so glad they

Analysis Of Farewell My Concubine And The King And...
Throughout many countries around the world, homosexuality has always been subjected as a
controversial matter. The societal attitudes towards the behavior of homosexuality vary substantially
across Asia. Surprisingly, there are two conflicting attitudes toward homosexuality. Some Asian
countries strongly condemn against homosexuality. Whereas, in some Asian countries visibly accept
homosexuality. Judith Butler explained that gender is represented as a stylized repetition of acts or
imitation. She described the categories of sexuality and gender as a form of performativity (Butler
1996, 368). This essay will explore and examine the experience of gender identity via the exploration
of case studies in two distinct socio cultural contexts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Homosexuality in ancient China was extensively well recognized and moderately tolerated, although it
was not solely accepted (Wu 2003, 118). Before the thirteenth century, the early ancient Chinese
possess an open minded view towards human sexuality (Wu 2003, 118). There was no form of an
equivalent abstract idea to one s identity as being gay or lesbian (Wu 2003, 118). According to a Hong
Kong sociologist Chou Wah Shan, the adjective homosexual was never a noun in ancient China
(Drescher and Vittorio 2003, 118 119). This is because ancient China s mainstream belief system did
not have views on homosexuality. Homosexuality in traditional China was not reported as an identity
nor a particular gender difference. In fact, it is known as a formation of behavior or act (Dubel, Ireen
and Andre 2010, 173). This structural interpretation is similar to Judith Butler s argument in which
gender identity is a performative of acts, behaviors, and gestures. Moreover, homosexuality was very
popular in the midst of man dynasties among the Chinese emperors. During the history of the West
Han Dynasty, ten out of the eleven Chinese emperors had at least one homosexual lover or had
expressed some form of homosexual proclivities (Wu 2003, 120). In ancient China, those who were
considered homosexual or had any sexual activity with the same sex were not perceived with deviant
personalities. Instead, it was considered as simply sharing the passion (Dubel,

The Primary Causes For World War I
(Based on the World War I Video) What were the primary causes for World War I? (Franco Prussian
War; Alliances; Archduke Franz Ferdinand) The Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand was a spark
that helped light the fire of tension in the world, while the Franco Prussian war helped build tensions
and territorial disputes. What began the actual fighting was when Austria Hungary and Serbia got into

War on Russia to help defend Austria Hungary. Why did it become a World War? What countries and
territories became involved? It was the World War because it was one of the largest ongoing wars in
history that covered an entire continent and involvement even stretched across the Atlantic as the U.S.
helped the Allies. The massive scale of the war was achieved when countries kept backing up their
allied nations and one by one joined the war. Note the significance of the following: Battle of
Tannenberg: Tannenberg was a German victory in Russia that let the Germans advance deeper past the
Eastern Front. Chemical Weapons: Chemical Weapons were a new technology used in WWI that held
great devastating power and the potential to harass soldiers even in trenches. Gas masks were used to
counter them and became a mainstay of the soldiers armament. Lusitania: The Lusitania was a

Good Girls Vs Bad Girls Essay
A shocking part of history a women had to struggle was during the history of post World War II .
Author Ann Fessler interviewed various of women who went through surrendering their newborn
child for adoption. That was the only option or either you were going to be married at a young age.
Parents had high expectations for their daughters to behave and follow the regulation of society.
In chapter 3 Good girls versus bad girls explained the definition of good girls are considered to be a
virgin and waited sex until marriage. Bad girls are the ones who are sexually active or are pregnant
because they had sex before marriage .In the 1950s and 1960s, when veterans were coming back from
World War 2 young people became sexually active. This trend caused young college and high school
female students go through sexual harassment or be sexual active. Many of the young women grew up
in a puritanical family who consider being a sin if you even dared to be sexually active. Back then
women were expected to wait until marriage and learn about sex from their spouse.
During that time of era, plenty of young women were curious to experiment. The sad part about the
1950s 1960s there was sex education, but it was not clear enough about the body parts of a female or a
male, certain diseases , or protection besides abstinence . The only way young women learned and
heard about sex was through their peers. Female friends did not talk about losing their virginity

Power, Decision-Making, And Decision Making In A Family
For my interview, I talked with my mom and dad, Sharla and Bruce Zwanziger. My parents have been
happily married for 21 years now. The unconditional love that they show for each other every day
makes me hope that someday I have a marriage just like theirs. I interviewed my parents about power,
decision making, and conflict management in their relationship. For the first question, I asked my
parents how they approached power, decision making, and conflict in their relationship. After asking
this question, my mom replied with I think we both have very easy going personalities, so when it
comes to conflicts, we both talk about different options and listen to each others ideas. (S. Zwanziger,
personal interview, June 25, 2017.). My dad replied with Yes, I definitely agree with that. We both
have different ideas sometimes, but we make sure that we are open to each others ideas as well as our
own. (B. Zwanziger, personal interview, June 25, 2017.). As I watched them answer this question, I
noticed that they both paid very good attention to each other and let one another state their opinions,
just like how I would imagine their conversations about solving a conflict would be. Just like my
parents, Galvin, Braithwaite, and Bylund (2015), believe that decision making in a family involves
more than just one individual (p. 197). They agree that whatever decisions that are made will affect
the entire family, so everyone in the family should have a say in what the decision is

The Human Heart Is A Muscular Organ That Provides A...
Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS HEART?
The human heart is a muscular organ that provides a continuous blood circulation through the cycle
and is one of the most vital organs in the human body. The heart is divided into four main chambers:
the two upper chambers are called the left and right atria and two lower chambers are called the right
and left ventricles. There is a thick wall of muscle separating the right side and the left side of the
heart called the septum. Fig 1: HUMAN HEART[10]
HOW DOES BLOOD FLOW THROUGH HEART?
Blood flows through the heart in one direction, from the atria to the ventricles, and out of the great
arteries, or the aorta for example. Blood is prevented from flowing backwards by the tricuspid,
bicuspid, aortic, and pulmonary valve.
The heart acts as a double pump. The function of the right side of the heart is to collect de oxygenated
blood, in the right atrium, from the body (via superior and inferior vena cava) and pump it, via the
right ventricle, into the lungs (pulmonary circulation) so that carbon dioxide can be dropped off and
oxygen picked up (gas exchange). This happens through the passive process of diffusion.
The left side collects oxygenated blood from the lungs into the left atrium. From the left atrium the
blood moves to the left ventricle which pumps it out to the body (via the aorta).
WHAT IS ITS ELECTRICAL ACTIVITY? The electric energy that stimulates the heart occurs in the
sinoatrial node, which produces a definite

control how eBay presents itself. In the Koran it states that you are not allowed to profit off another.
This holds true in examples like banking. However in some democracies eBay is being stifled in its
ability to require payments thru PayPal, as the book states an example of Australian government,
curtailing eBay s ability to require payment thru PayPal (Griffin, 2012). To further accommodate
expansion into these diversified markets eBay will of course have to follow religious precepts,
government regulations and allow for more targeted products. It would be unwise of eBay to allow
many items that are permitted in democracies and free thinking countries to be purchased in a more
conservative nation. In the conservative nations, the potential buyers can still buy off eBay USA. This
type of targeted selling of their system has created eBay of Canada, eBay of USA, and eBay of
Australian, eBay of Belgium and so on (whoweare). Because of eBay s presence in over 30 countries,
yet PayPal is only used in 16 countries,

Finance Systems for Higher Education
Higher education from United States is the best in the world, since it has a good quality. Tulip said,
United States colleges and universities offer more choice, their graduates receive greater wage
premiums, and they attract more than twice as many foreign students as any other country. Actually,
people can see a large difference in wages between people who go to colleges and people who do not
go to colleges. People still go to colleges even if many students need to finance their education. Within
a good quality in higher education, then more and more international students are studying in the
United States. In order to maintain education quality, finance system is significant. It shows how to
balance equity and equality in education. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since public expenditure is huge, colleges will function better within sufficient funds. Increased
amount from tuition will help colleges to provide better quality of education. Moreover, the other two
are local taxes of $8.9 billion and ARRA funds of $2.8 billion. These two account for 6% and 2% in
all financial resources, respectively. As we mentioned earlier, ARRA is organized to provide funds to
public schools in a recession time. According to SHEA report, author wrote about that ARRA funds
for public colleges and universities can mitigate tuition increases and layoffs.
And one thing needs to be mentioned is that Very few public institutions have significant non‐
restricted revenue from gifts and endowments to support instruction. Public colleges are largely
different from private colleges, so they do not receive private endowments from rich people and their
alumni. The most important and largest funding is from government. Next, we will explore how
government funding should be distributed. First of all, we need to explore how government funding
comes from. According to SHEA report, state and local government funding for public colleges and
universities comes from the following aspects. These are appropriations from state tax revenue, Non‐
tax appropriations, mostly from state lotteries, Local appropriations, State‐funded endowment
earnings, Oil and mineral extraction fees or other

Air Vice Marshal Francis Hubert
Air Vice Marshal Francis Hubert (Frank) McNamara Medals and Awards On March of 1917, the allies
had planned an attack on Gaza and they had subjected repeated attacks on Junction Station, an
important Turkish supply centre, to be carried out by No. 1 Squadron, and No. 14 Squadron, R.F.C.
During the attacks on 20th of March, an aircraft piloted by Captain D. from No. 1 Squadron, was
forced to land due to being hit by ground fire. Despite the aircraft being a two seater, he had been
flying the aircraft by himself. A great group of enemy on horses were close by and when they saw the
aircraft, they began to gallop towards it. At that time, McNamara was on his way home. He had been
on the same raid that day, and was severely wounded after being confronted by anti aircraft fire,
despite his circumstances, McNamara decided to attempt a rescue on Captain D. Rutherford. He
managed to make a safe landing beside the pilot, and the pilot climbed aboard McNamara s aircraft,
which was a single seater. Therefore, the pilot could only stand on the wing and hold on to the struts,
this made the aircraft very lop sided, and dragged the aircraft to one side. Due to this and his leg
wound, McNamara could no longer control the aircraft, so the aircraft crashed while attempting to
take off. Although, crashing, the two remained as they had been, and they set fire to the aircraft and
decided to return to the pilot s aircraft. Pilot Rutherford s aircraft was close to being captured by the

Hong Kong Is An Economic Success
It is a beautiful country located on a small area of 1,063 square miles and population of about 7.4
million people as per census of 2016. In the year of 1960, Hong Kong had a population of 3.1 million.
In the period of 57 years population of Hong Kong grew almost 2.5 times, yet, this country has no
problem in keeping a pretty low unemployment rate. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for
January of 2017 was at 3.3 percent. It held the same level as in two previous months. At the same
time, the underemployment rate decreased from 1.4% to 1.3%. Hong Kong continues to be an
economic success mainly because government stays out of its citizens life. Hong Kong s government
keeps business taxes low ( currently at 16.5% for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But it appears that Hong Kong is still not happy with its growth. Last year HK economy grew by 1.9%
which was below 2.4% in the previous year. For the new fiscal year, which started on April 1, 2017,
HK budget includes lower taxes for individuals and subsidiaries to tourism industry which suffered
the downturn in recent years. Also, pledges more support for country s exports and expects
improvements in that sector. In turn, HK expects its economy to grow by 2 to 3 percent. HK also
promises to look into generous tax deductions for innovation and technology which then, in turn, will
improve the cost of output. But HK does not forget about its social part of life and is expecting to see
a lot more money given back to the community in terms of elderly care and education. It also includes
promoting small and medium businesses, innovation, technology and intellectual property. For the c
fiscal year, it is estimated that HK s revenue will be HK$507.7 billion with overall expenditure to be
HK$491.4 billion, which will create a surplus of HK$16.3 for this fiscal year and add to over HK$908
billion which this country already has in its reserve.
Stable HK labor market, in an almost full employment, with steady household income growth
promises solid consumption expenditure for HK s current fiscal year. Investment expenditure is more
sensitive to external up and downs and changes of the business cycle. It is also expected that an

Persuasive Essay On Junk Food Tax
More than one in three adults in America is considered obese (Katz). Having a junk food tax will most
definitely help lower this statistic. While characterized as a negative burden, taxes are easily one of the
most important aspects in everyday life. Taxing junk foods will allow many positives such as: health
benefits, better uses with the money, and knowledge for a healthy lifestyle. Health has always been an
issue in modern American lives. With the socially accepted standards, people want change. The main
issue is food. Eating foods high in saturated fats, salt and sugar can lead to high blood pressure and
obesity, which puts people at risk of diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer
(Cobiac). With the knowledge out there, everyone should be ready for change. Following a healthy
diet will be the best option for overall well being and happiness. The single most important aspect of a
junk food tax would be the health benefits. A goal set by various groups of people is it to live a long,
healthy life. The junk food tax will eliminate one of the more detrimental factors in health problems:
eating too much. By increasing the price of products that contain sugar, taxes can get people to
consume less of them and thus improve nutrition and health (Marron). Obviously this would fall into
all categories, not just sugar. The use of taxes is very smart in the sense of persuading people not to do
something. They will not want to spend more time and money on the bad habits. This reduction would
substantially reduce the risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and related conditions (Franck).
Anyone could figure out that junk food reduction is a positive achievement in everyone s lives.
Disease reduction is what health benefits revolve around. The whole point of the tax is to reduce the
amount of diseases associated with the bad nutritional foods. In 2008, the medical costs associated
with obesity and obesity related illnesses totaled the US $147 billion in the United States (Franck).
Not only is the food terrible for health, but it is also very expensive. The cost of the diseases is quite
substantial for the United States. Ridding the world of these foods will allow

The Colonization Of Indonesia And Indonesia
As a Junior in high school, my history teacher taught us that our native country, Indonesia, was
colonized by the Dutch for 350 years beginning in the year 1595. The Netherlands is one of the
European countries that established itself over other countries in order to take advantage of them, in
this case to take advantage of Indonesia s rich land and resources. Indonesia is a land rich in spices,
rice, sugar, tea, coffee, and other products desirable for export. The Dutch colonized us with the
purpose of monopolizing our trade. Because of the profits obtained from Indonesia s most important
resource, that of its spices, the Netherlands took tremendous wealth from our land.
During the Colonial era, the United State of America and Great Britain maintained a good rapport with
their colonies and respected their laws. Both countries allowed more independence for their colonies.
On the other hand, European countries such as the Netherlands, Spain, and France were very
restrictive toward their colonies, for example, they limited education for certain social groups. Also,
Southeast Asia was not allowed to engage in economic activities. This caused a great deal of
corruption as well as huge problems in these European countries. These more oppressive colonial
rulers did not support the rules of law in the indigenous countries, in this case in Indonesian. They
levied laws on the Indonesians but not on the Dutch immigrants there. They put controls on our people
but not their people.

Labor Union And Labor Unions Essay
Labor union history began when the National Labor Union (NLU) was founded in 1866. After the
creation of this union, several followed after. Many riots occurred during this time, the Haymarket
Riot was one of the main reasons that the American Federation of Labor (AFL) was created. The AFL
will be a major part in the labor movement in the future. Labor unions began due to the need to protect
the workers. These labor unions formed to fight for reasonable hours, better pay, and safer working
conditions. These stipulations that the labor unions pushed for did not come from greed. Many
laborers were dying from different jobs. People were required to work 12 or more hour days, 7 days a
week for such a small amount of pay. Due to the overworking of these laborers, it caused them to
make mistakes. Not only were companies over working these people, they were hiring inexperienced
people with little to no training. Thousands upon thousands of people died because of this. To prevent
this from occurring labor unions were created to ne the barrier between a company and the workers,
the unions are there to help negotiate any stipulations the workers may request. However, after the
early to mid 1900 s the attendance and membership of unions declined drastically. In the past 50 years
the membership in labor unions have decreased, and at a rapid pace. There are many reasons why the
membership has decreased, but the focus will be on four main reasons. The first reason being that in

Advertising and Marketing Research Essay
Assignment 3: Advertising and Marketing Research and Essay
Sharon L. Price
Topic: PowerAde
PowerAde was presented to the public in 1988 as a fountain beverage by researchers at the Coca Cola
Company. However, it wasn t until 1992 when it was suggested that the product be released as a ready
to drink thirst quencher or better known as a sport drink. This idea was the spark that ignited a
competitive sports drink market. Before PowerAde s launch in 1992, the sports drink market was
solely monopolized by Gatorade. Nevertheless, PowerAde extricated itself from Gatorade by adding
vitamins B3, B6, and B12, which were said to enhance the metabolism of carbohydrate energy. At this
time, PowerAde took 36% of the market share in the Fitness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The judge concluded that there was no value to Gatorade s grievance that PowerAde s marketing
slogan inferred that PowerAde Ion4 was more complete than Gatorade. The ruling may have seemed
like a win for PowerAde, but the damage was already done due to the lawsuit s pessimistic publicity.
PowerAde has grown successfully over the past years by globally employing principle marketing
strategies that adhere to several facets of sport drink consumers. First, PowerAde increased its
association with developed high profile international sporting events such as the Olympics, NASCAR,
PGA tour, NHRA, NCAA, AFL, and FIFA World Cup. Second, PowerAde has levied global
communications to speak to consumers by upholding a hospitable appearance through the use of
global media outlets. Both marketing strategies have highly influenced adolescents which helped
PowerAde achieve its high ranked status in the sport drink industry. The sport drink industry spends
almost one billion dollars on endorsements each year. Furthermore, celebrities are featured in
endorsements campaigns such as TV commercials, billboard campaigns, print advertising, and website
ads that reinforce an affable marketing strategy. Both methods of advertisement are appealing to
adolescents because they dream to be like these celebrities. Furthermore, the mode of advertisement
caters to the desired physical attributes that adolescents desire to possess.

  • 2. Social Media Censorship In America Social media censorship has a big impact on American society where there s been a lot of control over what someone can post on the internet. The companies have created strict policies towards what people can post and a lot of the users are not happy. The big problem is that social media companies have too much power with censoring what people say and read, which is limiting people s freedom of speech and I don t believe that companies should censor a lot of the things people post in social media unless is something bad that can harm someone. Companies find ways to censor people s media post either because they believe it can hurt a country s image or they believe others wouldn t like it. When it comes to social media everyone believes they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People only think that this mostly happens in the United states but it happens all around the world such as Venezuela, Hungary, Pakistan, Turkey, Russia, etc. In Venezuela they are super strict with the censorship that The government has passed legislation limiting press freedom, restricted access to public information, levied fines and taxes on media companies... The government had gotten so strict that they would use violence to those who posted bad things about the country or do something else that could stop the user from posting. In 2014, Venezuela had a problem where a violent clash between the police and protesters burst, where the protesters were standing up because a crime on a provincial campus had happened, but it ended up causing a lot of violence. People started posting pictures of dead and wounded people in twitter but twitter had blocked all the images. This shows that the government is trying to cover up the problems that was occurring in Venezuela because it can hurt how they look as a country and people can start to think this it is an unsafe place to live in. In the article Censorship in the social media it states, Diaz had posted to Facebook a short docudrama by a Venezuelan artist about the conditions of political prisoners.. But she notices soon after uploading the video had disappeared. She tried to re upload it, she got a message that the action was disallowed, but was given no further explanation. Censorship has gone far to the point that companies are just deleting the post with no explanation. That s a big problem because we need reasons to why they re getting rid of our post. If the companies are taking away the people s right of speech, meaning they can say whatever they feel like it, then they deserve at least an explanation to why it wasn t ... • 3. Inhibition Effect To test the possibility that inhibition effect was generated from the use of only two alternative peripheral stimuli, following experiment was carried out. A central box and four peripheral boxes were used in the experiment and the positive IOR result ruled out the possible explanation that inhibition limited to the two alternative boxes. In the double cue experiment, inhibition showed when attention was split to two sides by both simultaneously brightening peripheral boxes while no inhibition showed if the cue remained at the center in the arrow experiment. Therefore, Posner and Cohen concluded that attentional orienting is not necessary in inhibition of return. Another two experiments were conducted to determine the relation between inhibition and eye movement. In the first of the two experiments were Back and Forth Experiment, participants were asked to fixate to the center box and then read the digit from one of the two peripheral boxes, which was the cue. After that, returned their eyes to the center box when it was brightened. The target was given after the brightening of the central box. A strong inhibitory effect showed for at least 1.5 sec at the cued location. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rafal et al (1989) claim that rather than two separate pathways, endogenous and exogenous activations, oculomotor preparation may be a better explanation for IOR generation. Rafal et al (1989) conclude that endogenous and exogenous activations are competing with each other to access the oculomotor apparatus. IOR is generated regardless of whether oculomotor preparation was initiated endogenously or exogenously. However, it is suggested that IOR not only represents a change in attentional bias but also related to oculomotor system. IOR can be generated in both attentional and oculomotor systems (Hunt and Kingstone, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Does Ray Bradbury Use Light And Dark In Fahrenheit 451 Title In Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451, he uses light and dark as contrasts is used as a motif to help further develop differences between people in society through characterization and plot. Light symbolizes knowledge and purity; on the other hand, darkness shows ignorance in the society, while also being a form of safety. Bradbury uses light versus dark to compare purity and ignorance through characterization. Before Montag found the value behind books, he would come home from his job of burning books. The first night of meeting Clarisse while walking home from work, he describes her face as a fragile milk crystal with a soft and constant light in it. • 5. Pernicious Anemia In The 1800s In the 1800s, there was a disease called pernicious anemia. Pernicious anemia was affecting in older people and death occurred within two to five years. In 1926, George Richards Minot discovered the cure for pernicious anemia was nutrients in liver, which was the previous treatment for this disease, and that it was absence of nutrients. This resulted in the seclusion of a vitamin which we now call vitamin B₁₂. George Minot along with William Murphy and George Whipple received a Nobel Prize in 1934 for their discovery, though they were not the first to propose that it was a lack of nutrients. Vitamin B₁₂ is naturally found in animal products such as poultry, eggs, shellfish, etc. It is also in foods similar to nutritional yeast. B₁₂ is commonly cannot be found in plant foods. Other sources of vitamin B₁₂ are dietary supplements, tablets/lozenges, and prescription medications. In dietary supplements the vitamin is the form of cyanocobalamin which the body changes to methylcobalamin and 5 deoxyadenosylcobalamin. The ability to absorb the vitamin through the supplements is restricted due to the volume of the body s intrinsic factor. Tablets/lozenges are known to have exceptional bioavailability. Prescription medications such as intramuscular injections can come in the form of cyanocobalamin or hydroxocobalamin and is used to treat vitamin B₁₂ deficiencies. Prescription medication can come in a gel form for people who would take it instead of injections and raises B₁₂levels in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Racial Segregation, By Lorraine Hansberry Seems like God don t see fit to give the black man nothing but dreams but He did give us children to make the dreams seem worthwhile, once stated by Lorraine Hansberry. Racial segregation has been a huge topic in our society. Believe it or not, just a few decades ago African American people did not have the basic equality rights that white citizens were given. Something as simple as having a dream to become an author seemed out of reach; even impossible some might have said. Living in this kind of a world was unfortunately a reality for Lorraine Hansberry. Growing up she lived in a world of racial segregation and not being giving the same opportunities as fellow white citizens in the United States. Throughout her life civil rights was a major influence for her. Hansberry was able to express the unwavering need for civil rights through her literature. Her poems and plays showed the unjust treatment of African Americans. She was able to make a difference in her own life, as well as the lives of her audience through her portrayal of pre civil rights. With this in mind, Lorraine Hansberry was a major author, playwright, and activist during the Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem Renaissance was a time of rebirth and renewal for the African American peoples. The African American peoples would express themselves through music, writing, and art all through an autobiographical standpoint. Because of the Harlem Renaissance, the African American society was changed forever. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Heart Of Darkness Vs Apocalypse Now Essay Apocalypse Now vs. Heart of Darkness A Scene Analysis We never realize how important something is to us until it s lost, and the characters in both Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness are no exception. Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is a novel about a character named Marlow, who is on a ship along with a sea crew. He shares his adventures in Africa as his curiosity about the man named Kurtz motivates him to search for him. Meanwhile, Apocalypse Now takes a twist on the tale, taking place during the Vietnam War. Captain Willard is a soldier part of the U.S. forces sent to search Vietnam to search for Kurtz, a man who has gone rogue from the army and kept himself hidden from others, and execute him. Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now both illustrate a similar scene, the helmsman s death along with Clean s and Chief s death in respective stories, as well as deviate from each other while retaining identical meanings that bring together an underlying message between these two stories. • 8. Mycobacterium Avium Subspecies Paratuberculosis Case Study The zoonotic potential of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) has been established owing to similarities in clinical findings and pathological lesions between Johne s disease (JD) (Paratuberculosis) in animals and Crohn s disease (CD) in humans. Clinical symptoms of paratuberculosis results in chronic intermittent diarrhea, fever, weight loss and remission and relapse, with unresponsiveness to antibiotics leading to progressive wasting, emaciation and death. Pathological lesions of paratuberculosis in human and animals are characterized by chronic intestinal granulomatous inflammation (Momotani et al., 2012). Live MAP bacilli has been reported in milk of woman suffering with Crohn s disease (Naser et al., 2000; 2009; Bannantine et al., 2014). Pasteurized milk and dairy products also carry MAP bacilli as it withstands pasteurization temperature (Slana et al., 2008; Shankar et al., 2010; Singh et al., 2016; Stephen et al., 2016). Similarly baby milk powder prepared from MAP containing milk could expose children and immuno compromised people at high risk to MAP infection (Hruska et al., 2011). Its long survival (upto 250 days) and dormancy in the environment sources as soil and water pose a threat for the spread of the disease (Larsan et al., 1956; Singh et al., 2012). Widespread presence of MAP in humans and animals in India may be due to failure of currently available diagnostic reagents. Disease is most effectively identified by cultivation and isolation of MAP from feces but being expensive and having long incubation time (up to 16 weeks) and false negatives in samples that have low concentrations of MAP, this method exhibits its limitation (Collins, 1996; Garg et al., 2015). • 9. Dna Coding For Ampicillin Resistance And Green Fluorescent... Abstract This experiment was performed to assess the efficacy of genetic transformations on bacteria via plasmid DNA coding for ampicillin resistance and green fluorescent protein. Genetic transformation was studied by taking transformed and untransformed Escherichia Coli (E. coli) and placing them on various media to observe gene expression via growth and color under UV light. The transformed E. coli were able to grow on ampicillin while the untransformed E. coli, which lacked the plasmid genes for ampicillin resistance, only grew on nutrient broth. In the presence of arabinose, the transformed E. coli glowed green. These results support the previous scientific understanding of bacterial competency, vectors, and gene expression and support gene transformations as an effective method to transfer the desirable DNA of one organism into another organism s DNA. These results can be applied to real world issues such as medical treatments, food production, and environmental conservation. Introduction Genetic engineering is used in health treatments, agricultural applications, and environmental solutions. Genetic transformations incorporate foreign genetic material into the DNA of a different organism via a vector, which carries the genetic material. Plasmid DNA is small, round, and autonomous, due to its origin of replication. In biotechnology, plasmids carry beneficial genes, such as antibiotic resistance, and also a reporter protein, in this case, Green Fluorescent Protein ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Essay on Comparing the Atkins Diet and the Zone Diet Comparing the Atkins Diet and the Zone Diet The Atkins and the Zone Diet both view carbohydrates as one of the key nutrients in attaining a reasonable weight. The Atkins Diet reduces one s intake of carbohydrates to the bare minimum substituting them with high fats and proteins. Insulin levels within the body are maintained at a constant level with these foods. But many skeptics do not believe that the Atkins choice of food is very healthy. The Zone Diet believes in more of a balance of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins which affects the body as a whole. Critics believe the Zone Diet to be healthy but do not necessarily believe in the achievement of a better body system. The Atkins and the Zone Diets differ in some ways and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This regimen consists of 40% carbohydrates, 30% fats, and 30% protein. A small amount of protein or the size of one s palm at every meal is adequate along with twice the size of the protein portion for carbohydrates such as vegetables, fruits, or beans. Fats such as olives, nuts, and avocados can complete the meal. The higher proportion of carbohydrates is okay because the fat helps to slow down the rate of absorption of carbohydrates into the body (www.webmd.com). The ratios of nutrients in both the Atkins and the Zone Diets determine how the body reacts and loses weight. The proportion of foods in the Atkins and the Zone Diets lead to a certain desirable reaction within the body. The low carbohydrate Atkins Diet focuses on the reduction of insulin levels. Insulin is a hormone the body releases to move the broken down carbohydrates or glucose from the blood into the muscles and fat cells for storage. Once the glucose levels are normal again, the excess insulin causes the body to crave more carbohydrates until the insulin levels become steady again. The Atkins diet stresses eating high fat and protein because these nutrients do not create the insulin response that carbohydrates do. The body then learns to use the stored fat as an energy source rather than the carbohydrates. By severely limiting carbohydrate intake the Atkins Diet almost eliminates the hunger roller coaster (www.webmd.com) caused by insulin levels. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Halloween Night vs. Prom Night Halloween Night vs. Prom Night Ghosts, princesses, superheroes, and so many other strange characters are seen walking around during the night of October 31st, the night known as Halloween. Halloween is the night most famously known for haunted houses, candy, black cats, witches and ghosts. For one magical night a year, known as prom, teenagers get to feel and dress like princes and princesses and to attend their first formal event before becoming an adult. For that night, tiaras, limos, corsages, tuxedos and evening gowns are all the rage. They wear costumes and get to be a different person or thing for the night. Even though prom is not celebrated on the same date every year, it is still one night of dressing up. Teenagers get to dress up formally and also act differently for the night. The attire is usually formal unless the prom has a certain theme that calls for them to dress up in costumes. The purpose of both nights is about dressing up, but, the attire is different for both events. The second point of comparison is that both are a night of social events. Depending on how each family celebrates Halloween it can be a night for families to go out together and trick or treat together, or the children can go out with a group of friends to go trick or treating. Many costume parties are thrown to celebrate the night and there are many haunted houses to go through with friends or family. Prom night is an important social dance event where teenagers in high school get together with their friends before and after prom. This contributes to the development of chicken pox in individuals who don t have health insurance or is an illegal immigrant, they will be less likely to participate in primary prevention and more likely to delay obtaining medical treatment. Some barriers to health services that contributes to the development of the disease includes high cost, lack of availability or in the case of vaccine shortage mostly seen in developing countries and limited language access. These barriers can cause unmet health needs and inability to receive preventative services. Individual behavior as a determinant of health plays a major role in health outcomes. Individual behavior consists of diet, physical activity, hand washing and compliance with vaccine preventable diseases. This factor contributes to the development of chickenpox when individuals refused be vaccinated and do not have natural immunity against the disease. Therefore in an epidemic of chickenpox these individuals have a higher risk of contracting the disease. Biological and genetic factors affects specific populations more than others. The American Revolution was a turning point in our history, but not one that should be blown out of proportion as many current day people have. Most of the people in America before the revolution had no reason to revolt. In fact, nearly ⅔ of all colonists were either neutral or against going to war with England. They had no reason to escape England s bond. The only people who were set to gain anything from the revolution was the elites and the wealthy of the time. In fact, most of those whom were loyal to the Revolution either kept or gained great swathes of land, as Lord Fairfax had (84). Also, most of the wealthy would buy in so to say by purchasing government bonds that would exponentially grow value as the nation would grow in the future. Not only for these reasons did the wealthy prosper. They were also promised a head at the table when forming the new nation. As Zinn points out on page 90, the rich were in a position to start writing business friendly laws that would benefit them. Ella Watson is the woman standing in front of the American flag in Gordon Park s photograph, American Gothic, which symbolizes freedom, strength and pride. She is perceived as a hard working individual. The photo resembles many aspects of a woman, which is captured with no words just merely an image. This picture is worth a thousand words and helps convey a message that was dangerous to talk about back in 1942. Judith Butler explained that gender is represented as a stylized repetition of acts or imitation. She described the categories of sexuality and gender as a form of performativity (Butler 1996, 368). Homosexuality in ancient China was extensively well recognized and moderately tolerated, although it was not solely accepted (Wu 2003, 118). Before the thirteenth century, the early ancient Chinese possess an open minded view towards human sexuality (Wu 2003, 118). There was no form of an equivalent abstract idea to one s identity as being gay or lesbian (Wu 2003, 118). According to a Hong Kong sociologist Chou Wah Shan, the adjective homosexual was never a noun in ancient China (Drescher and Vittorio 2003, 118 119). This is because ancient China s mainstream belief system did not have views on homosexuality. Homosexuality in traditional China was not reported as an identity nor a particular gender difference. In fact, it is known as a formation of behavior or act (Dubel, Ireen and Andre 2010, 173). This structural interpretation is similar to Judith Butler s argument in which gender identity is a performative of acts, behaviors, and gestures. Moreover, homosexuality was very popular in the midst of man dynasties among the Chinese emperors. During the history of the West Han Dynasty, ten out of the eleven Chinese emperors had at least one homosexual lover or had expressed some form of homosexual proclivities (Wu 2003, 120). • 37. The Human Heart Is A Muscular Organ That Provides A... Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION WHAT IS HEART? The human heart is a muscular organ that provides a continuous blood circulation through the cycle and is one of the most vital organs in the human body. The heart is divided into four main chambers: the two upper chambers are called the left and right atria and two lower chambers are called the right and left ventricles. There is a thick wall of muscle separating the right side and the left side of the heart called the septum. Fig 1: HUMAN HEART[10] HOW DOES BLOOD FLOW THROUGH HEART? Blood flows through the heart in one direction, from the atria to the ventricles, and out of the great arteries, or the aorta for example. Blood is prevented from flowing backwards by the tricuspid, bicuspid, aortic, and pulmonary valve. The heart acts as a double pump. The function of the right side of the heart is to collect de oxygenated blood, in the right atrium, from the body (via superior and inferior vena cava) and pump it, via the right ventricle, into the lungs (pulmonary circulation) so that carbon dioxide can be dropped off and oxygen picked up (gas exchange). This happens through the passive process of diffusion. The left side collects oxygenated blood from the lungs into the left atrium. From the left atrium the blood moves to the left ventricle which pumps it out to the body (via the aorta). WHAT IS ITS ELECTRICAL ACTIVITY? The electric energy that stimulates the heart occurs in the sinoatrial node, which produces a definite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In your opinion, what changes should be made to accommodate further overseas expansion? As eBay expands into more foreign markets, eBay will have to further evolve and allow for a more country centralized execution of its policies and manager control. I can certainly see that in countries that have a high religious influence, such as the Muslim dominated hierarchy, religious dictates will control how eBay presents itself. In the Koran it states that you are not allowed to profit off another. This holds true in examples like banking. However in some democracies eBay is being stifled in its ability to require payments thru PayPal, as the book states an example of Australian government, curtailing eBay s ability to require payment thru PayPal (Griffin, 2012). To further accommodate expansion into these diversified markets eBay will of course have to follow religious precepts, government regulations and allow for more targeted products. It would be unwise of eBay to allow many items that are permitted in democracies and free thinking countries to be purchased in a more conservative nation. In the conservative nations, the potential buyers can still buy off eBay USA. This type of targeted selling of their system has created eBay of Canada, eBay of USA, and eBay of Australian, eBay of Belgium and so on (whoweare). • 46. Persuasive Essay On Junk Food Tax More than one in three adults in America is considered obese (Katz). Having a junk food tax will most definitely help lower this statistic. While characterized as a negative burden, taxes are easily one of the most important aspects in everyday life. Taxing junk foods will allow many positives such as: health benefits, better uses with the money, and knowledge for a healthy lifestyle. Health has always been an issue in modern American lives. With the socially accepted standards, people want change. The main issue is food. Eating foods high in saturated fats, salt and sugar can lead to high blood pressure and obesity, which puts people at risk of diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer (Cobiac). With the knowledge out there, everyone should be ready for change. Following a healthy diet will be the best option for overall well being and happiness. The single most important aspect of a junk food tax would be the health benefits. A goal set by various groups of people is it to live a long, healthy life. The junk food tax will eliminate one of the more detrimental factors in health problems: eating too much. By increasing the price of products that contain sugar, taxes can get people to consume less of them and thus improve nutrition and health (Marron). Obviously this would fall into all categories, not just sugar. The use of taxes is very smart in the sense of persuading people not to do something. They will not want to spend more time and money on the bad habits. This reduction would substantially reduce the risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and related conditions (Franck). Anyone could figure out that junk food reduction is a positive achievement in everyone s lives. Disease reduction is what health benefits revolve around. The whole point of the tax is to reduce the amount of diseases associated with the bad nutritional foods. In 2008, the medical costs associated with obesity and obesity related illnesses totaled the US $147 billion in the United States (Franck). Not only is the food terrible for health, but it is also very expensive. The cost of the diseases is quite substantial for the United States. Ridding the world of these foods will allow ... • 47. The Colonization Of Indonesia And Indonesia As a Junior in high school, my history teacher taught us that our native country, Indonesia, was colonized by the Dutch for 350 years beginning in the year 1595. The Netherlands is one of the European countries that established itself over other countries in order to take advantage of them, in this case to take advantage of Indonesia s rich land and resources. Indonesia is a land rich in spices, rice, sugar, tea, coffee, and other products desirable for export. The Dutch colonized us with the purpose of monopolizing our trade. Because of the profits obtained from Indonesia s most important resource, that of its spices, the Netherlands took tremendous wealth from our land. During the Colonial era, the United State of America and Great Britain maintained a good rapport with their colonies and respected their laws. Both countries allowed more independence for their colonies. On the other hand, European countries such as the Netherlands, Spain, and France were very restrictive toward their colonies, for example, they limited education for certain social groups. Also, Southeast Asia was not allowed to engage in economic activities. This caused a great deal of corruption as well as huge problems in these European countries. These more oppressive colonial rulers did not support the rules of law in the indigenous countries, in this case in Indonesian. They levied laws on the Indonesians but not on the Dutch immigrants there. They put controls on our people but not their people. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many riots occurred during this time, the Haymarket Riot was one of the main reasons that the American Federation of Labor (AFL) was created. The AFL will be a major part in the labor movement in the future. Labor unions began due to the need to protect the workers. These labor unions formed to fight for reasonable hours, better pay, and safer working conditions. These stipulations that the labor unions pushed for did not come from greed. Many laborers were dying from different jobs. People were required to work 12 or more hour days, 7 days a week for such a small amount of pay. Due to the overworking of these laborers, it caused them to make mistakes. Not only were companies over working these people, they were hiring inexperienced people with little to no training. Thousands upon thousands of people died because of this. To prevent this from occurring labor unions were created to ne the barrier between a company and the workers, the unions are there to help negotiate any stipulations the workers may request. However, after the early to mid 1900 s the attendance and membership of unions declined drastically. In the past 50 years the membership in labor unions have decreased, and at a rapid pace.
