Religion And Peace Essay
Crafting an essay on the intersection of religion and peace poses a multifaceted challenge that
demands a nuanced understanding of both subjects. Navigating the diverse landscapes of
religious beliefs and their impact on the quest for peace requires careful research, thoughtful
analysis, and a balanced perspective.
To begin with, one must delve into the intricacies of various religions, exploring their core tenets,
historical contexts, and the ways in which followers interpret and practice their faith. This can be
a daunting task, considering the vast array of religious traditions spanning the globe, each with
its unique doctrines and rituals. Additionally, the dynamic nature of religious discourse and the
evolving interpretations within religious communities add layers of complexity to the exploration.
Examining the relationship between religion and peace demands a critical assessment of
historical events, conflicts, and peacebuilding efforts influenced by religious ideologies.
Analyzing both positive and negative instances where religion has played a role in promoting
harmony or contributing to discord is essential for constructing a comprehensive narrative.
Moreover, the essay should address the contemporary challenges posed by the intersection of
religion and peace. Exploring issues such as religious extremism, intolerance, and the potential
for interfaith dialogue and cooperation requires a careful balancing act. Striking the right tone,
avoiding stereotypes, and presenting a fair portrayal of diverse perspectives on this intricate topic
further complicates the writing process.
Crafting a coherent and compelling argument that synthesizes diverse viewpoints while
maintaining academic rigor is a formidable task. A successful essay on religion and peace should
not only inform the reader but also provoke critical reflection and contemplation.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of religion and peace demands a meticulous
approach, involving in-depth research, critical analysis, and a commitment to presenting a
balanced perspective. It requires navigating through the complex interplay of religious beliefs
and their impact on fostering or hindering peaceful coexistence. However, by overcoming these
challenges, one can contribute to a more profound understanding of the intricate relationship
between religion and peace.

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a complex and serious illness that is often
misunderstood. Experts have noted that the terminology chronic fatigue syndrome
can trivialize this illness and stigmatize persons who experience its symptoms.
However, the fatigue in this illness is striking and quite distinct from the common
fatigue everyone experiences. A variety of other names have been used, including
myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), ME/CFS, chronic fatigue immune dysfunction, and
most recently, systemic exertion intolerance disease. The lack of agreement about
nomenclature need not be an impediment for advancing critically needed research
and education.19,20,21

The spread of Jamaican culture and Rastafarianism can be accredited to many events
and technical advances in communication. Bob Marley is one of the main influences
the spread of Jamaican culture and Rastafarianism due to the lyrical rhetoric used in
his popular music. Growing up as an impoverished youth, Marley struggled to create
a music career where his voice as well as others could be heard globally.

Gilroy defines Marley calling him the greatest man in reggae music and the greatest
leader and proponent of the spread of the Rasta religion. This article poses
Marley as an icon for the struggle for justice, peace and human rights 5 not just
another musician or pop icon.
Although opposed to many established governmental policies, Marley was not an
anti establishment advocate. He was an individual that believed governments and
everyday people, such as those who may not be involved in politics, needed to look
out for their fellow humans and treat all people equally regardless of ethnicity and
income.
Marley used his music to bring many social issues to the forefront that had
previously been suppressed. Many of these issues were not suppressed because of
their nature, but because of the lack of influence Jamaica had on the world.
The country of Jamaica is highly dependant on tourism and agricultural exports such
as raw sugar. By products of the raw sugar production are molasses and rum. Due to
these limited industries, most citizens of Jamaica are of the working class and this

From the case, The Body Shop is a global company. First of all it is centralized and
globally scaled. It dose not make decision or different product in different country.
Even though it has company stored and licensed store its product do not change by

Equipment Responsibility The United States army values soldiers that are
responsibility for their actions and equipment. Being responsibility means being
Dependable arriving to work and appointments on time, keeping track of and control

Scout Reflection
On Saturday, the 28th of October, I presented Earth Rocks to Cub Scouts who
were earning their Merit Badge. As I now reflect on the two sessions I taught that
day, I wonder if I could have ever been truly prepared for them. I believed I had
everything lined out and timed to take us right up to the time their session was
over. However, that was not the case because the scouts knew a considerable
amount more about the subject than I realized. I feel honored to have been able to
work with such intelligent groups of scouts. During the first session, I quickly
realized that these Cub Scouts knew an impressive amount about the information I
was presenting, so I forced myself to change how I was presenting the material. I
engaged the scouts into the material by asking each one tons of questions about
what they already knew. Then I made sure they stayed busy with hands on activities
that really engrossed them into the material. I believe that when I had to change my
lesson plans on the spot, I did decently well. I was able to bettergrab the scouts
attention and help them learn more information than before they walked into the
session. One of the most challenging ideas I tried to teach to the scouts would have
to be about geographical surroundings and the geographical materials that make up
the buildings. I feel as if I did not know enough about the subject matter, or how to
present it correctly in a way that was truly benefiting the scouts. However, the scout

Heroes of American Realism Essay
Heroes of American Realism
The American realists of the late 19th century were notably adept at creating deep,
memorable characters whether virtuous or villainous who are continuously
developed throughout the tales in which they exist. These authors often used their
protagonists for a higher purpose than mere storytelling, endeavoring to construct a
critique of the times by placing the characters in opposition to their respective
societies. As a result, the protagonist often becomes an unassuming type of hero to
the reader, by courageously (or obtusely) defying convention, and doubting the
ignorant assumptions of society. Three such characters that were born of American
realism are found in the novels The Adventures of ... Show more content on

The first book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, features Huck, who narrates his
adventures along the Mississippi with Jim, a runaway slave. Huck escapes from his
alcoholic, abusive father early in the book, and, immediately thereafter, is primarily
concerned with his own survival and contentment. However, even these basic
amenities are threatened as he continues his voyage south. First and foremost, Huck
must survive in the wild, a task he undertakes with remarkable skill and
resourcefulness. Early on in the novel, Huck s skill at living in the wilderness is
plainly established, and the reader never doubts his ability to provide for himself.
Unfortunately, other complications soon arise. Huck happens upon Jim soon
after his own escape. Jim had run away from Huck s aunt after learning of her
intent to sell him south to New Orleans, and once these two fugitives cross paths,
their companionship is maintained for most of the book. Jim s presence presents
several problems to Huck. At first, when Huck initially runs into Jim, he is simply
glad to find a companion for his idle days on the raft. Indeed, Jim does prove a
loyal friend to Huck, and his companionship comes to be deeply appreciated by the
latter. However, it is soon evident that Jim s company is rather dangerous as well,
for he is sought after by slave hunters, and, in those days, any person caught
harboring a runaway slave was just as much a
When I Heard The LearnD Astronomer Summary
Looking up at the night all people see different things. They see constellations,
heaven, a lifeless void. All of these interpretations are unique to the person. There
is a poem that covers this idea of mixed meaning named When I heard the Learn d
Astronomer by the writer Walt Whitman written in 1865 and published in 1867.
The poem explains the speaker is sitting in on a lecture by a knowledgeable
astronomer. The man is sitting in a lecture room and shows an obvious distaste for
his setting by explaining he soon became tired and sick. The lecture uses many
blunt mathematical terms such as figures, columns, charts, diagrams, addition,
subtraction, and division. And after the man begins to feel uneasy he steps out of
the lecture hall outside. It is here that he looks up and admires the stars. The
speaker of When I heard the Learn d Astronomer shows distaste for over analysis
and the lack of connection to the natural world through word choice, meter, and
sectioning. First, the meter of the first half of the poem helps develop the idea of
overanalysis. An example to illustrate this idea is the first half of the poem: When
I heard the learn d astronomer, When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in
columns before me, When I was shown the charts and diagrams, to add, divide, and
measure them, When I sitting heard the astronomer where he lectured with much
applause in the lecture room. The amount of syllables in the first half increases
from 9, to 14, to 18, to 23. The steady syllable count increase is done intentionally
to induce a sense of tension. This tension is needed to give a growing sense of
urgency for the speaker to deny, and turn around and Whitman also put When at the
beginning of each line of lines 1 4. Rigid flow gives a sense monotony, thus making
the poem expectable and not in any way intriguing. The aforementioned case is a
connection the speaker wants us to make through his repetition. To make us associate
the mathematical explanation of the heavenly bodies with drudgery. The line When I
was shown the charts and diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them... is also a good
example of that idea. The learn d astronomer is making connections between
mathematical concepts and great beauty
Microsoft Analysis Essay

Introduction and Summary of Company History and Background Information
Microsoft over the past 27 years has positioned itself as the arterial system of almost
all computers rolled into use across the world. Albeit with no competition worth the
name to challenge its existence leave alone on technology advancements, the
company has still managed to keep pace with both felt and perceived needs of its
customers and its niche remains robust thus far. Nevertheless disturbing winds have
begun to blow. Its corporate governance is under the microscope and the world is
watching as to how Microsoft is bracing itself for the challenges posed both by
competition (however innocuous it may be at present) and technology proliferation. ...

Competition, technology compatibility and integration needs, pricing, delivery and
service parameters can precipitate substantial threat to Microsoft and afford
opportunities for other players. It is not that Microsoft is not aware of this. It is
focusing on R amp;D and business strategies to sustain market shares in its own way.
But is it enough and is it taking the right direction is the big question.
Others have started to seriously innovate and compete. For example changing
technologies like Wireless Communications and Networking (WAN) etc do not
complement MicrosoftВЎВ¦s existing competencies. Over the next five years, in all
developed countries, the majority of people will be connecting through broadband
and interacting with information through many devices: PCs at work and at home,
portable PCs, Tablet PCs, and pocket devices such as the phone, evolving from
simply a voice device to a data device. Having all these devices work very well
together and be secure and up to date are very significant challenges indeed.
Therefore there is adequate scope and opportunity to review, audit and understand
through SWOT analysis the company and its competencies and facilitate a new
debate on possible corporate business models and revised action plans.
SWOT analysis is a tool for auditing an organization and its environment. It is the
first stage of planning and helps marketers to focus on key issues. It has to be a
continuous rather than a need based exercise.

The Code And Software Components Of An Information
System
To protect any prestigious company and make it safe for both the employees and
users certain safeguards needs to be put in place in order to ensure integrity. Technical
safeguards, data safeguards, human safeguards, account management are some of the
essential ways a company can help protect their image. Technical safeguards include
identification and authenticationvia user names and passwords, smart cards, biometric
authentication, encryption and single sign on for multiple systems. Another is data
safeguards which consists data administration, database administration, key escrow,
backup copies, and physical security for all devices that store database data. Human
safeguards are safeguards for employees, including security sensitivity for position
definitions. Account administration and system procedures are also an important part
of data security. These measures are put in place to ensure that the reputation of the
company is upheld throughout its daily operations.
The Use of the First Line of Technical Safeguards to Protect the Business
The hardware and software components of an information system is very important to
the overall functionality of the business organization. To ensure that only the right

This means that every month for the last 2 years, 6.2 new luxury hotel were built

consumer interest for the luxury hospitality industry grew 7.7% in one year.
The numbers donВґt lie, the luxury hotels industry is growing fast. But, are they
positioning themselves correctly in the consumer s head? Are they targeting the right
client segment? And what are the triggers they use to attract their consumers?
To answer these questions, I chose two luxury hotels brands. I will evaluate and
compare them covering the brands personalities and positioning, and analyze what
these brands do to motivate the consumers in their purchase decision. The two brands
chosen were The Ritz Carlton and the South African Lodge Londolozi. These very

hotels, the staff is perceptive, involved and passionate, willing to go that extra mile.
They were both designed with the guest s comfort in mind, investing special attention

Early pre Socratic philosophers like, Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, focused on topics
of pleasure, pain, knowledge, motivation, and rationality. They speculated about
whether human traits are inborn or the result of experience. The aspect of Greek
psychology that most interests me is Aristotle s philosophy. According to Aristotle,
the soul and body are closely connected; the soul is a part of the body. Interestingly, I
believe the mind can influence the body and the body can influence the mind. He
considered the mind to be located in the heart, which contained all emotions and
thinking. Aristotle
Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne was born July 4, 1804, in Salem Massachusetts. He was the
only son of Nathaniel and Elizabeth Clark Hathorne. Nathaniel Hathorne died from
yellow fever at sea leaving wife Elizabeth and four year old son Hawthorne behind.
Hawthorne had a relatively isolated life growing up, which left him quite shy and
pushed him towards writing. Hawthorne s family was involved with the Salem
witch trials and to distance himself from that later in his life he decided to add the w

Hawthorne portrays the seventeenth century Puritan settlers of New England as

Cleansing
According to some dermatologists, Oil Cleansing Method is an effective
cleansing, toning, moisturizing regime that aims to deep clean the pores and get
rid of blackhead causing debris. In order to use castor oil to deep clean pores, mix it
with a light oil like apricot oil, olive oil or jojoba oil and massage it into your facial
skin gently and thoroughly.
The good fatty acids in castor oil displace the waxy debris that would otherwise
cause blackheads and acne. After massage, soak a clean washcloth in lukewarm
water, wring out the excess water and apply the hot cloth over your face until it cools.
This will help to remove pore clogging materials better. Be careful not to burn your
face. You can repeat this steaming process a few more times. This way you remove
make up, dirt, moisturizers and excess oil from the pores and deep clean them while
ensuring that the skill does not dry out.
Native Americans And The American Government Essay
Throughout history, Native Americans have been victimized by Americans and the
American Government. Native Americans were here long before the English settlers
found and migrated to America. They tried to buy the land from Native Americans,
and money was not important to them so they refused. Over time this costed a lot of
Native American lives and most of their land was taken from them. Native
Americans were immensely mistreated in the 1900 s by white Americans and are
still being wronged by deceiving history in textbooks and other learning aid. The
sources used were Dances with Wolves, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee
(BMHWK), Forget Columbus, The Vanishing American, and Silencing California
Genocide in Social Studies Texts(SCGSS). Dancing with Wolves is about an officer
is the US Army. He gets stationed on the West front and everyone has abandoned the
fort, so he stays there until more soldiers get there. He becomes close with the
neighboring Indian tribe and becomes one of them. He starts to live through the
struggles that they have to live through being Native Americans. BMHWK is a movie
about the white Americans trying to buy land from the Native Americans and trying
to civilize them by giving them white names and teaching them white education.
Forget Columbus is a chapter within The Inconvenient Indian that talks about the
fallacious history regarding Whites vs Indians. He thinks there is a lot of made up
history and history not told, for American favor. The

Previous findings have verified this by finding that Liberals focus mainly on the
foundations of Harm/care and Fairness/reciprocity, whereas Conservatives tend to
concentrate more evenly across all five foundations (Dawson et al. 2012). The second
hypothesis was not supported as all five foundations were not equally relevant to the
Conservatives. Harm/care and Fairness/co operation were more important than...

Print Media during the Biafra War.1967 1970
The news coverage of war has been of particular relevance to media and
communication researchers. This interest is due to the violence in wars, its
importance to the people, the vast amount of finance, men and equipment poured
into it. The study of media and war has spurred a contention on the role of the
objectivity during a conflict. For a journalist covering a war, the ideal should be,

Filter This routine uses refined Pulp techniques and taxes your reverse spreading

strips any visible handling down to a minimum. Obviously it s best to perform this
routine for a larger group as you need at least three participants. EFFECT: Lost in
separate parts of the deck, three chosen cards magically appear trapped between all
four kings initially examined inserted into the middle of the deck by a spectator.
METHOD: Before starting, place the four Kings face down on top of the deck. While

from the top of the deck and hand them to a spectator for inspection. We ll assume
they remain in CHaSeD order, with the club at the face. Explain that the four
Kings will help find the three selections somewhere in the middle of the deck. As
you emphasize the middle, use Pulp Friction to control the three selections to the
bottom as you spread the deck between your hands and square up. Retrieve the
Kings and insert them as a face up block into the center of the deck. As you square,
your right hand grasps the deck by the ends. This frees your left hand to pinch the

Analysis Of Wood Lab
In our density of wood lab, we were interested in learning more about densities of
wood, how to measure density, the difference between softwoods and hardwoods,
and how density and strength are related. In this lab, we utilized 10 different
samples of wood blocks. By measuring each sample s Volume (Length x Width x
Height) and mass, we were able to determine each sample s density(Mass + Volume).

By measuring the sample s density and then determining what the sample was, we
were able to observe the differences in the wood including color, grain, texture, and
weight and its effects on the density of wood. Additionally, this lab gave us a better
understanding of why it is important to understand wood density. When building a
home or another woodworking project you want to be aware of the type of wood
you are using and its density. If you are building a home or a piece of furniture you
are going to need a wood that is strong and will last. Therefore, you will know you
will need a dense wood like oak. But if you are creating a decorative, lightweight
art piece you may want a less dense wood like Lati. It was interesting to see in this
lab, that even though some samples were larger in size than other they still weighed
less than the smaller, denser wood samples. This shows that even though you may
have the right size wood, it may not be the correct density to complete the

think is it going to strike. Then the camera starts to zoom in at the shark s point of

hold of a buoy, at this point it makes the audience think that the shark has stopped or
gone relieving some tension. Then suddenly she is dragged back under the water
making the audience jump creating fear and making their hearts race. There is a

Analysis Of Harry Gordon And Bg66 By Bonnie Maclean
Post World War 2 the world was steadily resetting itself from the aftermath of war.
This was a time where a new generation was coming through, determined to change
the world and bring radical transformation, avoiding the mistakes of the previous
generation. With this we saw historical movements namely the African American
Civil Rights Movement, the Second Wave of Feminismand the boom in
Consumerism that have shaped the world we live in today. This new way of thinking
brought the 1960s design era, also known as the POP! Movement, with the aim to
challenge what makes good design and blurring quality art with low culture sources. I
will focus on the ideas of Feminism and Consumerism during the POP movement and
how the PosterDresses by Harry Gordon and BG66 by Bonnie MacLean reflect the
two concepts through their design.
Pop brought a radical rethinking towards design, designers asking themselves what
their role might be and how they could design items to help people either to change
the world or to bring some happiness. The design community agreed there was too
much energy being spent to promote pointless consumerism and not enough
advocating important movements happening at the time. (INSERTREF8) Design had
an ability to help communicate messages to the public and this was very important to
designers in the POP movement. In light of this thinking designers sourced
commercial images and incorporated them into their work. Common objects and
everyday life were highlighted

Global Warming On Water Resources
This paper presents scientific briefing about Conservation of Water Resource in
Republic of Tajikistan to the Committee of Environmental Protection under the
Government of Tajikistan. This paper will explore country s profile on water
resources. Moreover, it will discuss impacts of Global Warming on water resources in
Tajikistan, and present possible solution for water resources management.
Overview: Tajikistan is one of the world s vulnerable regions to climate change,
specifically to the effects of increase in temperature, change in rainfall patterns, and
increase in dryness [1]. Given the country s high sensitivity to the climate change,
there is a higher need for implementing policies and strategies in order to conserve
water resources.
The country is one of the most freshwater rich countries in the world, where the
water is a vital resource, and important economic asset both in regional and
national settings. The country is also very rich in natural resources such as water,
coal, oil, gas, mercury, gold, silver, salt, limestone, marble and clay [6]. Moreover,
Tajikistan is wealthy in biodiversity, which consist of around 23,000 species of flora
and fauna, of which are about 1900 are endemic [6 . Additionally, Tajikistan is
famous for its medicinal, thermal and mineral water resources, however only 30% are
used.
Water Resources: Tajikistan has 1000 rivers with length exceeding 10 km. The
country has a significant number reserves of groundwater, which are all found
What Are The Pros And Cons Of Online Accounting
Why Online Accounting Is Essential for Your Business

relatively new. Not absolutely all businesses have grown to be comfortable with being
able to access financial data online, but there are various benefits for implementing

Simplicity
Real time data moving is one of the present day miracles to do business. But even
emails can be troublesome and clunky if you continuously have to email your
accountant information to allow them to do their job. Accounting online means that
information is kept up to date instantly, like the live results of a basketball game or
the newsfeed on Facebook. Better still, these details can be seen by everyone who
needs it, anytime.
For instance, a domestic plumbing business with several vans and employees on the
highway at any moment can get access to all the invoices and accounts, again, at any
moment, if their accounting is housed online.
Good online accounting software, like the Online Accounting Services in London,
also allows bank account data to be automatically brought into the accounting
package, and therefore your details never are suffering from a time wait that can
impact your business decisions.

Emily Dickinson s I Heard A Fly Buzz
Gothic style literature, a style of literature characterized by gloomy, grotesque and
mysterious that are often accompanied by violent or startling imagery is the theme
for most of Emily Dickinson s creation. The authenticity of Emily Dickinson s death
obsessed poems demonstrates a profound emotion that projects a revolting persona.
This persona is visible through her poem: I heard a Fly buzz when I died.
Dickinson s poem I heard a Fly buzz when I died is a perfect exemplar of Dickinson
s revolting persona. Equipped with isolating dashes that swiftly changes the mood on
each line, Dickinson portrayed a death scenario that described the atmosphere around
a dying person. In the beginning of the poem, Dickinson utilizes the phrase Stillness
in the room was like the Stillness in the Air. This phrase implies the relative silence
around a person s dying state, likely, due to the gradual fading senses of a dying
person. Additionally, in this line, Dickinson capitalized the word stillness
purposefully to depict near death sensation. As the poem continues ... Show more

It is crucial to understand that during the years that gothic mode literature was
flourishing, the presence of wars and different illnesses that plagued the world
forced most people to accept death as a natural occurrence in daily life. Yet,
Dickinson s poems like I heard a Fly buzz when I died, evokes a seemingly
antagonistic resistance to this notion through the manifestation of her alter ego as a
person interrupted in death by people suffering and in misery because of the loss.
This reveals the relative weakness of mankind in succumbing to a profound
depression in response to a beloved s death. Hence, Dickinson s poem that juxtaposes
both grief and acceptance relayed an awakening message to the world: that death is
no simple event but is rather an agonizing

The Natural History Of Social Problems
In America, there exists issues that affect the society at large, such as
unemployment, abortion, racism, gun control, and even terrorism. These social
problems are viewed by a part of society as social conditions or pattern of behaviors
that are harmful to members of society and in need of a solution. Many people in
America lack the sociological imagination, as the media play a big role in shaping
their perspectives on certain matters whereby the media uses narrow casting to
only show one perspective. It is therefore important to note that through the
sociological perspective, one is able to view how broader social forces influence
one s life. Throughout history, it has been noted that social problems are
inevitable. This means that, as the society changes so do social problems and vice
versa. In studying the natural history of social problems, it is important to note
that social problems pass through: pressures for change, crafting an official
response, reacting to the official response and pursuit of alternative strategies
which are overlapping stages. In the history of America, there have been various
social issues that have come about into existence. Some of the issues have been
supported by radical movements while some of the social problems have failed in
their potential due to lack of support. In the cycle of a social problem, the initial
step pressures for change, is brought about by the realization of the problem itself.
Most people are made aware of social
Private Military Contractors In The Middle East
Throughout the Middle East, the use of private military contractors has significantly
heightened, due to the call of attacks in these countries. PMC s take up much cost
for a country to fund, and the increasing rates are bringing drawbacks onto working
citizens. However, there PMC s are also vital in order for a country to maintain its
armed security forces. On the other hand, mercenaries are people who take part in
armed conflicts. The PMC s hire these mercenaries to work under them in helping
take part in hostilities, but receive benefits for their own gains. Recently, the United
Nations MercenaryConvention (UNMC) has placed restrictions upon PMC s in the
use of mercenaries, in order to create specifications between commercial and
government uses of these protection services. Sweden has very little support and
funds for the use of these PMC s, due to the lack of high military activity.
Current Issues: In the Middle East, and other countries active in their military uses,
are raising high questions of controversy against whether or not PMC s should be
implemented at an international scale. After these countries in the middle east have
been hit with attacks, there has been thought on how to promote entrusted security
for the countries. However, the use of these PMC s can lead to security faults in
diplomatic officials, and can cause unstable regions throughout a country as we have
seen happen in Libya in 2012. On the contrary, PMC s can be ideal in post war

INTRODUCTION Opinions always play an important role in decision making.
Businesses seek consumer opinions about their products and services to improvise
them, consumers seek opinions of other consumers to get the best deal. Governors

American Dream Research Paper
For centuries, the American Dream has represented the idea of the land of
opportunity. It has attracted immigrants from all over the world since the creation
of the United States. People from middle and lower social classes love the idea of
equal opportunity, as they have most likely been at a disadvantage from birth. It is a
motivating factor for the ambitious, hard working people, and the lazy, optimistic
people. Nonetheless, a capitalist nation inherently has a lower class, and most people
fail to fulfill this American Dream. Modern day does not allow for the simple fantasy
of making it big in the stock market, or amassing a great wealth on a farm in the

This lack of economic mobility is another leading obstacle in the pursuit of the
American Dream. Without scholarships or federal grants, public college costs
about $100,000 to attend for four years. A person living in poverty will struggle
much more than someone born into the upper class to scrape together $100,000,
which makes it nearly impossible to receive a higher education without
overwhelming yourself with massive student loans that you will never be able to

poverty to handle, nonetheless the original loan. The upper and lower classes

American teenagers could not hold their social class after entering adulthood. This
was most likely a result of the need for expensive education and the bridge it creates
between those who can afford it, and those who
Student Teacher Relationship Is Imperative Essay
Student teacher relationship is imperative to student learning. Tell me and I forget,
teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn is a quote by Benjamin
Franklin, that explains how vital student teacher rapport is to critical learning (Staff,
A. H., 2016). It is central that students feel comfortable in the classroom, and there is
mutual respect between the teacher and students. For my fieldwork, I observed
student teacher relationship in two schools. One school, Alden Place Elementary
School holds grades 3rd 6th, and the other, Millbrook High Schoolholds grades 9th
12th. They are both very different in the sense that one includes high school students,
and the other includes elementary students.
My first student teacher rapport observation took place at Alden Place Elementary
School. The school is 50% male, 50% female, 85% white, 1% Asian or Native
Hawaiian, 2% Multiracial, 3% Black or African American, and 9% Hispanic or
Latino. Alden Place has a 17% population of students with disabilities, 1%
population of English Language Learners, and lastly, 27% population of
economically disadvantaged students (Budget Information, 2016 2017). Alden place
is located in a very good neighborhood, with low crime ratings. Since both schools
are located in the same district, there the mission statements of Millbrook Central
Schools is; It is the mission of the Millbrook Central School District to prepare
students to deal effectively with the challenge of an ever changing
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
Perhaps one of the most pressing issues of the century, objectification of the
female gender is a world wide phenomena. While sometimes referenced of as a
fading issue, women s rights, or the lack thereof, is still prevalent across many
regions of the planet. Often times denied even the simplest forms of human rights,
women have always been forced to take the least dominant path within society, and
are frequently expected to be weaker than men. However, potentially no example
of female objectification is more apparent than the lives of women today, as well
as various Japanese Geisha in the early 1900 s; specifically in the novel Memoirs
of A Geisha, by Arthur Golden. Set in the early years before World War 1, it was
within the lives of these Geisha that objectification was not only displayed, but was
exemplified. Outrightly told to listen to men, apply cosmetics, and act with
reservation within society, similarities between both old world Geishas and modern
day women are easily correlated. Beginning on their initiation day, Geisha were
taught exactly how to act around men; submissive and dainty. Ordered to tend to the
every want or desire of the opposite sex, Geisha made little difference within her own
realms of existence. This is best demonstrated through Sayuri, a young apprentice
within the Geisha community of Gion. Within mere minutes of arriving at her
assigned living quarters, she is greeted, and succinctly told, Listen here stupid girl.

character in Grand Theft Auto IV.
During his career, he s been known as a comedian s comedian. His work is
followed and loved by others in his industry. This is especially true after The Rant
in 2006. He was on the road with other comedians including Bob Kelly and Dom
Irrera in a show called Opie and Anthony s Traveling Virus. They were playing the
Susquehanna Center in Philidelphia. It was a hot day full of angry, drunk and
rowdy people. The first two comedians were booed off the stage. Burr was
contractually obligated to put in 12 minutes of comedy. He decided that he wouldn t

Nursing Integrity In Nursing
Integrity consists of soundness and adherence to moral principles. Nurses who
practice with integrity act in ways that are consistent with what they see as is the
right thing to do, and also perform in accordance with accepted standards of
practice (Levinson, Ginsburg, Hafferty Lucey, n.d.). A nurse with integrity
provides ethical care, gives honest information to patients, families, and staff,
documents appropriately. Our purpose in nursing is to create and maintain an
environment that allows a patient to heal. Using Nightingale s model, nursing is
defined as a both an art and a science. We are able to make our own decisions based
on our observations that use empirical data and evidence based research which
Nightingale supported variety (Dowell, 2015) At the center of Florence
Nightingale s model is the patient, as they are the one receiving care. In healthcare,
and as nurses, we encourage patients to participate in their own care. Each patient
is unique and has needs that are different from the patient next door. We
demonstrate altruism by being concerned about the well being of our patients, and
it is our responsibility to promote this value. Doing so involves an understanding of
a patient s individual beliefs, and taking risks on their behalf. Nightingale also
mentions the importance of variety (Dowell, 2015). I have had patients that stay for
more than a week, feeling confined to the four walls of their small room. Doing
things as simple as going for walks or
A Streetcar Named Desire Movie Vs Play
Have you ever read a book called A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams?
Or have you ever watched the film version? I ve done both. It s quite an interesting
story. Here s a little background information: A Streetcar Named Desire is mainly
about the life of Blanche Dubois and Stanley and Stella Kowalski after Blanche
moves into their house. Blanche is Stella s older sister, making Stanley her brother
in law. While Blanche is living in their house, Stanley tries to drive her out. He
tortures her to madness and eventually she is admitted into an asylum. Anyways,
when it comes to comparing the book and the movie, I think the book is the best for
a number of reasons. Censorship When I read the book, I noticed that Williams

Virgil s Influences Of Virgil And Traditional Roman...
Virgil lived and died during a significant period in Rome history, the Augustan period.
During that period Augustus, the emperor, introduced several reforms. His rule had
an immeasurable effect on literature. The purpose of which was to revive traditional
Roman religion in the state. Therefore, it is evident that he must have had some
biblical influences around him while writing the Aeneid. First, we can see his
influences come into play by what he writes in book two. It is seen in multiple
places in the book where a sacrifice is made. In the Aeneid, sacrifices are mainly
made in an attempt to receive help or a blessing from the gods. But the gods on
Mount Olympus do not require a great sense of moral values. They will just send
help in return for a sacrifice or at the very least, a prayer. However, in the Bible
sacrifices are made to atone for one s sins. Also, sacrifices in the Bible are animals,
and not people (excluding Abraham and Isaac because in the end he was not
actually sacrificed). One of the first main, human sacrifices we see is in book two
with Sinon. Sinon was a Greek spy who was captured by the Trojans. They
questioned him extensively, and even tortured him for information. He claimed that
Odysseus sought to sacrifice him. The second main instance we see is in book six
where Aeneasand his crew are at sea. They are sailing when the sea begins to get
rough. In order to appease Neptune, they sacrifice Palinurus, Aeneas helmsman. We

Gymnastics Persuasive Speech Topics
In the sport of gymnastics, you learn a lot of life lessons. You learn time
management, respect, and hot to take care of your body. In my life, I m so glad that
gymnastics is a part of my life because I ve gotten the opportunity to learn all these
characteristics. I m not just going to tell you about how much I love gymnastics, but
how much gymnastics has made an impact on my life. I know what you re thinking.
What can gymnastics teach me? How is it important? Why is this girl writing about a
silly sport? Well, for starters, gymnastics is most definitely not just some silly sport.
In gymnastics you learn time management. Now time management isn t just finishing
something in a certain amount of time. Time management is being able to get your
work done in a certain amount of time and being able to work efficiently. In
gymnastics time management is HUGE! During a competition warm up, you don t
just get to keep warming... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But these characteristics also don t just apply for gymnastics. They are applied in
your daily life: at home, talking with friends, school work, and even your jobs! If
you don t respect your coaches at the gym, then you re not going to receive respect.
You re also not going to have a good reputation. If you don t work hard then how
will you even get motivated of improve? And if you don t have determination then
you don t have a goal you re working up to reach! Most of all, I think gymnastics
has daught me determination because I m determined to work to the best of my
abilities and what I m capable of. This characteristic transfers over to my school
work also because I m determined to get good grades and of the best I can be. But I
couldn t be determined without hard work. I I didn t work hard, then I wouldn t
know what success felt like and I wouldn t be able to set my goals so high. Because
without a realistic goal, you re just
Optimal Controller Essay
Real Time Optimal Controller for Extraterrestrial Landing via Deep Neural Networks
Keywords: deep neural networks, optimal control, extraterrestrial, landing, deep
learning
Summary: Optimal control theory is used in a variety of fields including but not
limited to biology, finance, medicine, and engineering. Of particular interest is the
application of optimal control theory to spacecraft entry, descent, and landing [1];
however, the implemented control law must be robust to variations in initial
conditions, landing terrain, as well as far from nominal conditions during the descent
in order to maintain the desired landing accuracy and to avoid catastrophe.
Furthermore, optimal controllers must update at a sufficiently large frequency to ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conclusions draw from previous literature for landing problems were based on
data collected in low fidelity simulations with unrealistic assumptions: a three degree
of freedom (two translational, one rotational) model, a constant mass moment of
inertia, no force due to aerodynamic drag, no force due to aerodynamic lift, and a
constant acceleration due to gravity [2 3]. Furthermore, it was assumed the state
information was noise free and that the actuators reacted exactly as commanded [2 3].
In addition, the previous literature has not explored the effect of landing terrain on
the DNN based optimal controller.
Hypothesis: A real time optimal controller using deep learning will be developed for
extraterrestrial spacecraft landing. The controller will be competitive in terms of
robustness and final cost function achieved with respect to alternative controller
options.
Methodology: A high fidelity simulation that eliminates the assumptions identified in
the literature review, including the spacecraft and associated dynamics, atmosphere,
and landing terrain, will be developed to test the DNN based optimal controller.
Once the simulation is developed and tested, a set of optimal trajectory data will be
created to train the DNN. Each trajectory will consist of state action pairs at discrete
points along the trajectory. Contrary to previous literature, these trajectories will be
discretized
Development Of Modernism After World War II
After the Second World War, attention immediately turned towards reconstructing a
better world. Like the earlier world war, it destroyed a previous social and economic
order (Curtis, 1996). Many of tall buildings were built to meet the large number of
human requirements. Modernism was rapidly developed at that time. This essay aims
to explore the development of modernism after World War II by compare and contrast
the two apartments which are Hansaviertel Apartmentin German and Society Hill
Towers in the USA. It first discusses the similarity of the two chosen buildings. Then
explains the difference of design, which includes surroundings, building form and the
apartment layout. Furthermore, explore the factors lead to those difference which are
policy, the influence of the other architects and architects own belief.
As cities were destroyed during the war, there were increasing needs of buildings
especially the apartments and houses. These two chosen projects have the same
functions as apartments. They were both high rise buildings, which were built as a
part of the redevelopment of the city after the war. The Hansaviertel Apartment was
built in 1957, Berlin, Germany and designed by Alar Aalto. The other one is named
Society Hill Towers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I.M Pei is the designer for this
apartment. The two apartments were built at the same time but contrast greatly in
term of design, which can represent the several kinds of development of modernism

Lithium Ion Batteries For Electric Vehicle Batteries Essay
Introduction
A lithium ion (Li ion) battery is a type of rechargeable battery which uses a lithium
ion that moves from a positive electrode (cathode) to a negative electrode (anode)
during charging and vice versa during discharge. Lithium ion batteries are less
environmentally damaging than batteries containing heavy metals such as cadmium
and mercury, but recycling them is still far preferable to incinerating them or sending
them to landfill. Lithium ion batteries are made up of one or more generating
compartments called cells. Each cell is composed of three components: an anode, a
cathode, and a chemical called an electrolyte in between them.
Lithium ion batteries are becoming more common in portable electronic devices due
to their high energy density, lack of memory effect, and high charge and discharge
rate capabilities. Research and development work is ongoing to improve safety and
increase capacity, charge/discharge rate, and lifetime. Demand for electric vehicle
batteries is currently small, but it is expected to grow very quickly. China, Japan,
South Korea, France, and the United States are the major lithium ion battery
manufacturers for hybrid and electric vehicle applications.
A lot of information from different sources was gathered with the purpose of
comparing different Li ion batteries mechanisms, cathode and anode materials,
structure and fabrication procedures, and their respective advantages and
disadvantages.

Deadpool Argumentative Essay
The movie Deadpool grossed $783.1 million in the United States upon its debut in
theaters on February 16, 2016. The movie IT has grossed $123.1 million in the

extreme cases of violence and gore. One scene in Deadpool even shows a man
being decapitated by the hands of the main character. However, homicide rates in the
United States actually took a decrease by 40% in the months that these movies came
out. Violence has never been a stranger to our world, but with the introduction of the

Adam and his mom, Nancy Lanza were said to have a decent relationship.
However, during the days leading up to the shooting, many things began to unfold
in their relationship (Boyle). Nancy was a volunteer at Sandy Hook elementary
school, and it was reported that Adam was jealous towards the kids and felt as if
Nancy loved the students at Sandy Hook more than she did Adam. Adam killed his
morning of the shooting, before he moved to Sandy Hook Elementary to continue
the massacre (Boyle). One thing that isn t taken into account when analyzing these
people who committed these acts, is how their personal life and family life may
have impacted their lives. According to the Child Help Organization, 80% of 21
year olds who have been victims of child abuse, have met the criteria for a
psychological disorder. These disorders can lead to drug abuse, suicide attempts,

Flint Water Crisis
My artwork is on the water crisis happening in the world today. I wanted to make a
piece that was relevant to problems that people in the world face today. My original
inspiration was the Flint water crisis and from there I researched places around the
world that had little to no avail one drinking water. Taking that research in mind, I
thought of the abundance of water in some places and the complete absence of it
in others. It reminded me of a picture of a scale, one side was filled with money and
the other side had none. I used that as a template, but changed the money to water,
and I added, characteristics of an abundance of water and a shortage to both sides.
The linoleum was harder to work with than I thought it would be. There needs... Show

The linoleum works well with bold and clear carved out spaces, which I tried to
incorporate into my piece when I noticed how my first few prints wren coming out
clearly. I was pleased with the contrast that both sides made up, it was clear of the
unfairness present in the world. On one side of the piece there is an overflowing
sink, pouring onto a scale which is overflowing into a river. The gross abundance
of water is used as a hyperbola to contrast with the other side of the piece. The other
side has a well dripping a small amount of water around and on the scale. The
amount of water is very small and scarce. The scarce amount of water on that side
causes the ground beneath the scale to be cracked up and dry. The cracked ground
compared to the river next to it that is separated by a scale, shows the imbalance in
the world today. When making my piece I kept in mind what I was trying to draw
attention to, the water crisis. My quote was a bit long for the piece, but it really
summed up the problems my piece is trying to show. The quote I used was The wars
of the twenty first century will be fought over water, which was said by Ismail
Essay about Significance of the abject in Metamorphosis
Discuss the significance of the abject in Metamorphosis.
Metamorphosis is a remarkable novel that has spanned numerous themes; from
alienation to the absurdity of life. And one of the major themes is that of the abject.
The abject, by definition, describes something brought low in position or condition,
lacking in courage, or simply rejected. In short, the abject is a recurring theme
throughout Metamorphosis both literally; in the form of Gregor s grotesque
physical form, and metaphorically; in the way Gregor reacts to and is treated by his
family. Thus the significance of the abject on Gregor and his family will be the basis
of analysis in this essay.
Firstly, the physical sense of the abject is presented almost immediately in ... Show

The contrast between his position in life before and after the transformation was
almost as marked as the transformation itself. In this way, the physical abject is not
only a cause of the social abject, but also a symbol of it as well.
Furthermore, Gregor s descent into social and physical abjection then forces his
family to change radically in order to support themselves. In the beginning, Gregor
starts off as the provider for his family. He hates his job, but he still goes above and
beyond the call of duty to give his family a more comfortable life, even indulging the
expensive endeavour of his sisters dream of studying the violin. However, after the
metamorphosis, he is thrust into the role of a dependant forcing his family to take
responsibility and support themselves. His sister steps up to the plate in the
beginning, giving him a selection of foodstuffs to find what he likes and even
cleaning up after him. His parents are still in denial at this point, so much so that
they refuse to see him at all. But as time goes by, his family begins to accept the
situation and even try to help Grete out. His father produces some money from his
previous failed business venture and his mother and sister try to make life more
comfortable for Gregor. Grete in particular changes the most noticeably; Gregor
himself notes at the beginning that her life up till that point had been enviable ,
consisting of wearing nice
Sea Of Monsters Themes
After reading The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan, I found that one of the main
themes is that everything comes from something and for a specific reason. It can
be very important to know where we come from and other things about our
background helping us discover our purpose. In this book you can obviously see
that Tyson is an outcast and isn t properly appreciated. Annabeth and many others,
such as the gray ladies, didn t even want to be anywhere near him. In paragraph 6 on
page 23 the text states, Annabeth gave him a look of distaste that I didn t quite
understand. Everyone seemed to underestimate him. They thought that he was no
good and useless, purely because of the fact that he was a cyclops. Everyone was so
caught up on how much

Oxfords Dictionary defines lobbing as a group of people seeking to influence
legislators on a particular issue. (needs in text citations)The term lobbing has been

One of the reasons for nurse burnout is inadequate staffing. Inadequate nurse staffing
effects many individuals. Most importantly, patients, nurses as well as hospital
administrators. According to Department of Professional Employee [DPE], (2016),
staffing issues affect nurses as it leads to nurse burnouts and affects nurse s health,
increasing their risks for hypertension, cardiovascular disease and depression.
Understaffing also leads to expensive human resources problems that can affect
hospital administrator s budgets. The harsh demands of nursing are forcing nurses
to consider alternative careers. Studies have shown the overall turnover cost per
registered nurse is $65,000 (DPE, 2016). One solution proposed by NYSNA is the
Safe Staffing for Quality Care Act, it proposes to require acute care facilities and
nursing homes to implement certain direct care nurse to patient ratios in all nursing
units; sets minimum staffing requirements; requires every such facility to submit a
documented staffing plan to the department on an annual basis and upon application
for an operating certificate; authorizes nurses to refuse work assignments if the
assignment exceeds the nurses abilities or if the minimum staffing is not present.

there are 7 of such yards in Malaysia that is capable of fabricating offshore structure.
The world s pricing mechanism of petroleum is determined by OPEC (Organization

Keppel FELS is among the first few fabricators in Singapore that has embraced new
welding technology such as the use of high deposition submerged arc welding
consumables. The way this high deposition submerged arc welding consumables
work is that it uses the very same machinery, very same set of welding parameters,
same operator skills and the characteristics of this consumables enables it to be
welded much faster than other brand of welding consumables of the same
specification. A comparison report was done on the use of this high deposition
wire against competitors generic wire clearly shows that this high deposition wires
saved the customer 135 minutes in welding a 0.95 meter length metal. (Michael,
p.2). KFELS is estimated to have 50 of such machines that are able to use this high
deposition wires which translates to a saving of 6,750 minutes when welding a
0.95m length of metal. Suffice to say, from a time saving factor point of view, the
offshore fabricators in Malaysia would lag behind in terms of time taken to complete.
As of today, no Malaysian fabricators have yet to incorporate these welding
consumables in their project, although it s proven the time saved when using these
high deposition wires far outweigh the initial purchase cost of it.
Along with the time saving factor, fabrication yards in Batam Island are known to
review their welding process from time to time and select the most cost saving

Religion And Peace Essay. Essay On Religion And Peace Studies of Religion I - Year 12 HSC ...

  • 1. Religion And Peace Essay Crafting an essay on the intersection of religion and peace poses a multifaceted challenge that demands a nuanced understanding of both subjects. Navigating the diverse landscapes of religious beliefs and their impact on the quest for peace requires careful research, thoughtful analysis, and a balanced perspective. To begin with, one must delve into the intricacies of various religions, exploring their core tenets, historical contexts, and the ways in which followers interpret and practice their faith. This can be a daunting task, considering the vast array of religious traditions spanning the globe, each with its unique doctrines and rituals. Additionally, the dynamic nature of religious discourse and the evolving interpretations within religious communities add layers of complexity to the exploration. Examining the relationship between religion and peace demands a critical assessment of historical events, conflicts, and peacebuilding efforts influenced by religious ideologies. Analyzing both positive and negative instances where religion has played a role in promoting harmony or contributing to discord is essential for constructing a comprehensive narrative. Moreover, the essay should address the contemporary challenges posed by the intersection of religion and peace. Exploring issues such as religious extremism, intolerance, and the potential for interfaith dialogue and cooperation requires a careful balancing act. Striking the right tone, avoiding stereotypes, and presenting a fair portrayal of diverse perspectives on this intricate topic further complicates the writing process. Crafting a coherent and compelling argument that synthesizes diverse viewpoints while maintaining academic rigor is a formidable task. A successful essay on religion and peace should not only inform the reader but also provoke critical reflection and contemplation. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of religion and peace demands a meticulous approach, involving in-depth research, critical analysis, and a commitment to presenting a balanced perspective. It requires navigating through the complex interplay of religious beliefs and their impact on fostering or hindering peaceful coexistence. However, by overcoming these challenges, one can contribute to a more profound understanding of the intricate relationship between religion and peace. Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a complex and serious illness that is often misunderstood. Experts have noted that the terminology chronic fatigue syndrome can trivialize this illness and stigmatize persons who experience its symptoms. However, the fatigue in this illness is striking and quite distinct from the common fatigue everyone experiences. A variety of other names have been used, including myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), ME/CFS, chronic fatigue immune dysfunction, and most recently, systemic exertion intolerance disease. The lack of agreement about nomenclature need not be an impediment for advancing critically needed research and education.19,20,21 At this time, there are no treatments (pharmacologic) that have been proven effective in large randomized trials and replicated by other

Although opposed to many established governmental policies, Marley was not an anti establishment advocate. He was an individual that believed governments and everyday people, such as those who may not be involved in politics, needed to look out for their fellow humans and treat all people equally regardless of ethnicity and income. Marley used his music to bring many social issues to the forefront that had previously been suppressed. Many of these issues were not suppressed because of their nature, but because of the lack of influence Jamaica had on the world. The country of Jamaica is highly dependant on tourism and agricultural exports such as raw sugar. By products of the raw sugar production are molasses and rum. Due to these limited industries, most citizens of Jamaica are of the working class and this 4 Gilroy, Paul. Could You Be Loved? Bob Marley, Anti Politics and Universal Sufferation. • 7. Scout Reflection On Saturday, the 28th of October, I presented Earth Rocks to Cub Scouts who were earning their Merit Badge. As I now reflect on the two sessions I taught that day, I wonder if I could have ever been truly prepared for them. I believed I had everything lined out and timed to take us right up to the time their session was over. However, that was not the case because the scouts knew a considerable amount more about the subject than I realized. I feel honored to have been able to work with such intelligent groups of scouts. During the first session, I quickly realized that these Cub Scouts knew an impressive amount about the information I was presenting, so I forced myself to change how I was presenting the material. I engaged the scouts into the material by asking each one tons of questions about what they already knew. Then I made sure they stayed busy with hands on activities that really engrossed them into the material. I believe that when I had to change my lesson plans on the spot, I did decently well. I was able to bettergrab the scouts attention and help them learn more information than before they walked into the session. One of the most challenging ideas I tried to teach to the scouts would have to be about geographical surroundings and the geographical materials that make up the buildings. I feel as if I did not know enough about the subject matter, or how to present it correctly in a way that was truly benefiting the scouts. However, the scout leaders were
  • 8. Heroes of American Realism Essay Heroes of American Realism The American realists of the late 19th century were notably adept at creating deep, memorable characters whether virtuous or villainous who are continuously developed throughout the tales in which they exist. These authors often used their protagonists for a higher purpose than mere storytelling, endeavoring to construct a critique of the times by placing the characters in opposition to their respective societies. As a result, the protagonist often becomes an unassuming type of hero to the reader, by courageously (or obtusely) defying convention, and doubting the ignorant assumptions of society. Three such characters that were born of American realism are found in the novels The Adventures of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, features Huck, who narrates his adventures along the Mississippi with Jim, a runaway slave. Huck escapes from his alcoholic, abusive father early in the book, and, immediately thereafter, is primarily concerned with his own survival and contentment. However, even these basic amenities are threatened as he continues his voyage south. First and foremost, Huck must survive in the wild, a task he undertakes with remarkable skill and resourcefulness. Early on in the novel, Huck s skill at living in the wilderness is plainly established, and the reader never doubts his ability to provide for himself. Unfortunately, other complications soon arise. Huck happens upon Jim soon after his own escape. Jim had run away from Huck s aunt after learning of her intent to sell him south to New Orleans, and once these two fugitives cross paths, their companionship is maintained for most of the book. Jim s presence presents several problems to Huck. At first, when Huck initially runs into Jim, he is simply glad to find a companion for his idle days on the raft. Indeed, Jim does prove a loyal friend to Huck, and his companionship comes to be deeply appreciated by the latter. However, it is soon evident that Jim s company is rather dangerous as well, for he is sought after by slave hunters, and, in those days, any person caught harboring a runaway slave was just as much a
  • 9. When I Heard The LearnD Astronomer Summary Looking up at the night all people see different things. They see constellations, heaven, a lifeless void. All of these interpretations are unique to the person. There is a poem that covers this idea of mixed meaning named When I heard the Learn d Astronomer by the writer Walt Whitman written in 1865 and published in 1867. The poem explains the speaker is sitting in on a lecture by a knowledgeable astronomer. The man is sitting in a lecture room and shows an obvious distaste for his setting by explaining he soon became tired and sick. The lecture uses many blunt mathematical terms such as figures, columns, charts, diagrams, addition, subtraction, and division. And after the man begins to feel uneasy he steps out of the lecture hall outside. It is here that he looks up and admires the stars. The speaker of When I heard the Learn d Astronomer shows distaste for over analysis and the lack of connection to the natural world through word choice, meter, and sectioning. First, the meter of the first half of the poem helps develop the idea of overanalysis. An example to illustrate this idea is the first half of the poem: When I heard the learn d astronomer, When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me, When I was shown the charts and diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them, When I sitting heard the astronomer where he lectured with much applause in the lecture room. The amount of syllables in the first half increases from 9, to 14, to 18, to 23. The steady syllable count increase is done intentionally to induce a sense of tension. This tension is needed to give a growing sense of urgency for the speaker to deny, and turn around and Whitman also put When at the beginning of each line of lines 1 4. Rigid flow gives a sense monotony, thus making the poem expectable and not in any way intriguing. The aforementioned case is a connection the speaker wants us to make through his repetition. To make us associate the mathematical explanation of the heavenly bodies with drudgery. The line When I was shown the charts and diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them... is also a good example of that idea. The learn d astronomer is making connections between mathematical concepts and great beauty

Competition, technology compatibility and integration needs, pricing, delivery and service parameters can precipitate substantial threat to Microsoft and afford opportunities for other players. It is not that Microsoft is not aware of this. It is focusing on R amp;D and business strategies to sustain market shares in its own way. But is it enough and is it taking the right direction is the big question. Others have started to seriously innovate and compete. For example changing technologies like Wireless Communications and Networking (WAN) etc do not complement MicrosoftВЎВ¦s existing competencies. Over the next five years, in all developed countries, the majority of people will be connecting through broadband and interacting with information through many devices: PCs at work and at home, portable PCs, Tablet PCs, and pocket devices such as the phone, evolving from simply a voice device to a data device. Having all these devices work very well together and be secure and up to date are very significant challenges indeed. Therefore there is adequate scope and opportunity to review, audit and understand through SWOT analysis the company and its competencies and facilitate a new debate on possible corporate business models and revised action plans. SWOT analysis is a tool for auditing an organization and its environment. It is the first stage of planning and helps marketers to focus on key issues. It has to be a continuous rather than a need based exercise.

Native Americans were here long before the English settlers found and migrated to America. They tried to buy the land from Native Americans, and money was not important to them so they refused. Over time this costed a lot of Native American lives and most of their land was taken from them. Native Americans were immensely mistreated in the 1900 s by white Americans and are still being wronged by deceiving history in textbooks and other learning aid. This was a time where a new generation was coming through, determined to change the world and bring radical transformation, avoiding the mistakes of the previous generation. With this we saw historical movements namely the African American Civil Rights Movement, the Second Wave of Feminismand the boom in Consumerism that have shaped the world we live in today. This new way of thinking brought the 1960s design era, also known as the POP! Movement, with the aim to challenge what makes good design and blurring quality art with low culture sources. I will focus on the ideas of Feminism and Consumerism during the POP movement and how the PosterDresses by Harry Gordon and BG66 by Bonnie MacLean reflect the two concepts through their design. Pop brought a radical rethinking towards design, designers asking themselves what their role might be and how they could design items to help people either to change the world or to bring some happiness. The design community agreed there was too much energy being spent to promote pointless consumerism and not enough advocating important movements happening at the time. Emily Dickinson s I Heard A Fly Buzz Gothic style literature, a style of literature characterized by gloomy, grotesque and mysterious that are often accompanied by violent or startling imagery is the theme for most of Emily Dickinson s creation. The authenticity of Emily Dickinson s death obsessed poems demonstrates a profound emotion that projects a revolting persona. This persona is visible through her poem: I heard a Fly buzz when I died. Dickinson s poem I heard a Fly buzz when I died is a perfect exemplar of Dickinson s revolting persona. Equipped with isolating dashes that swiftly changes the mood on each line, Dickinson portrayed a death scenario that described the atmosphere around a dying person. In the beginning of the poem, Dickinson utilizes the phrase Stillness in the room was like the Stillness in the Air. This phrase implies the relative silence around a person s dying state, likely, due to the gradual fading senses of a dying person. Additionally, in this line, Dickinson capitalized the word stillness purposefully to depict near death sensation. As the poem continues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is crucial to understand that during the years that gothic mode literature was flourishing, the presence of wars and different illnesses that plagued the world forced most people to accept death as a natural occurrence in daily life. Yet, Dickinson s poems like I heard a Fly buzz when I died, evokes a seemingly antagonistic resistance to this notion through the manifestation of her alter ego as a person interrupted in death by people suffering and in misery because of the loss. This reveals the relative weakness of mankind in succumbing to a profound depression in response to a beloved s death. Hence, Dickinson s poem that juxtaposes both grief and acceptance relayed an awakening message to the world: that death is no simple event but is rather an agonizing

These social problems are viewed by a part of society as social conditions or pattern of behaviors that are harmful to members of society and in need of a solution. Many people in America lack the sociological imagination, as the media play a big role in shaping their perspectives on certain matters whereby the media uses narrow casting to only show one perspective. It is therefore important to note that through the sociological perspective, one is able to view how broader social forces influence one s life. Throughout history, it has been noted that social problems are inevitable. This means that, as the society changes so do social problems and vice versa. In studying the natural history of social problems, it is important to note that social problems pass through: pressures for change, crafting an official response, reacting to the official response and pursuit of alternative strategies which are overlapping stages. In the history of America, there have been various social issues that have come about into existence. Some of the issues have been supported by radical movements while some of the social problems have failed in their potential due to lack of support. In the cycle of a social problem, the initial step pressures for change, is brought about by the realization of the problem itself. Most people are made aware of social

PMC s take up much cost for a country to fund, and the increasing rates are bringing drawbacks onto working citizens. However, there PMC s are also vital in order for a country to maintain its armed security forces. On the other hand, mercenaries are people who take part in armed conflicts. The PMC s hire these mercenaries to work under them in helping take part in hostilities, but receive benefits for their own gains. Recently, the United Nations MercenaryConvention (UNMC) has placed restrictions upon PMC s in the use of mercenaries, in order to create specifications between commercial and government uses of these protection services. Sweden has very little support and funds for the use of these PMC s, due to the lack of high military activity. After these countries in the middle east have been hit with attacks, there has been thought on how to promote entrusted security for the countries. It is a motivating factor for the ambitious, hard working people, and the lazy, optimistic people. Nonetheless, a capitalist nation inherently has a lower class, and most people fail to fulfill this American Dream. This lack of economic mobility is another leading obstacle in the pursuit of the American Dream. Without scholarships or federal grants, public college costs about $100,000 to attend for four years. A person living in poverty will struggle much more than someone born into the upper class to scrape together $100,000, which makes it nearly impossible to receive a higher education without overwhelming yourself with massive student loans that you will never be able to repay. The accumulation of debt by interest will be too much for a person in poverty to handle, nonetheless the original loan. The upper and lower classes continue to divide as middle class Americans slip into the lower class, while wealth and assets continue to shift up the classes. A study by the Economic Mobility Project of the Pew Charitable Trusts found that nearly one third of middle class American teenagers could not hold their social class after entering adulthood. This was most likely a result of the need for expensive education and the bridge it creates between those who can afford it, and those who

While sometimes referenced of as a fading issue, women s rights, or the lack thereof, is still prevalent across many regions of the planet. Often times denied even the simplest forms of human rights, women have always been forced to take the least dominant path within society, and are frequently expected to be weaker than men. However, potentially no example of female objectification is more apparent than the lives of women today, as well as various Japanese Geisha in the early 1900 s; specifically in the novel Memoirs of A Geisha, by Arthur Golden. Set in the early years before World War 1, it was within the lives of these Geisha that objectification was not only displayed, but was exemplified. Outrightly told to listen to men, apply cosmetics, and act with reservation within society, similarities between both old world Geishas and modern day women are easily correlated. Beginning on their initiation day, Geisha were taught exactly how to act around men; submissive and dainty. Ordered to tend to the every want or desire of the opposite sex, Geisha made little difference within her own realms of existence. This is best demonstrated through Sayuri, a young apprentice within the Geisha community of Gion. Within mere minutes of arriving at her assigned living quarters, she is greeted, and succinctly told, Listen here stupid girl. Keep your eyes down...men

  • 45. Virgil s Influences Of Virgil And Traditional Roman... Virgil lived and died during a significant period in Rome history, the Augustan period. During that period Augustus, the emperor, introduced several reforms. His rule had an immeasurable effect on literature. The purpose of which was to revive traditional Roman religion in the state. Therefore, it is evident that he must have had some biblical influences around him while writing the Aeneid. First, we can see his influences come into play by what he writes in book two. It is seen in multiple places in the book where a sacrifice is made. In the Aeneid, sacrifices are mainly made in an attempt to receive help or a blessing from the gods. But the gods on Mount Olympus do not require a great sense of moral values. They will just send help in return for a sacrifice or at the very least, a prayer. However, in the Bible sacrifices are made to atone for one s sins. Also, sacrifices in the Bible are animals, and not people (excluding Abraham and Isaac because in the end he was not actually sacrificed). One of the first main, human sacrifices we see is in book two with Sinon. Sinon was a Greek spy who was captured by the Trojans. They questioned him extensively, and even tortured him for information. He claimed that Odysseus sought to sacrifice him. The second main instance we see is in book six where Aeneasand his crew are at sea. They are sailing when the sea begins to get rough. In order to appease Neptune, they sacrifice Palinurus, Aeneas helmsman. We see a

Of particular interest is the application of optimal control theory to spacecraft entry, descent, and landing [1]; however, the implemented control law must be robust to variations in initial conditions, landing terrain, as well as far from nominal conditions during the descent in order to maintain the desired landing accuracy and to avoid catastrophe. Furthermore, optimal controllers must update at a sufficiently large frequency to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The conclusions draw from previous literature for landing problems were based on data collected in low fidelity simulations with unrealistic assumptions: a three degree of freedom (two translational, one rotational) model, a constant mass moment of inertia, no force due to aerodynamic drag, no force due to aerodynamic lift, and a constant acceleration due to gravity [2 3]. Furthermore, it was assumed the state information was noise free and that the actuators reacted exactly as commanded [2 3]. In addition, the previous literature has not explored the effect of landing terrain on the DNN based optimal controller. Hypothesis: A real time optimal controller using deep learning will be developed for extraterrestrial spacecraft landing. The controller will be competitive in terms of robustness and final cost function achieved with respect to alternative controller options. Methodology: A high fidelity simulation that eliminates the assumptions identified in the literature review, including the spacecraft and associated dynamics, atmosphere, and landing terrain, will be developed to test the DNN based optimal controller. Once the simulation is developed and tested, a set of optimal trajectory data will be created to train the DNN. Each trajectory will consist of state action pairs at discrete points along the trajectory. Contrary to previous literature, these trajectories will be discretized

Modernism was rapidly developed at that time. This essay aims to explore the development of modernism after World War II by compare and contrast the two apartments which are Hansaviertel Apartmentin German and Society Hill Towers in the USA. • 49. Lithium Ion Batteries For Electric Vehicle Batteries Essay Introduction A lithium ion (Li ion) battery is a type of rechargeable battery which uses a lithium ion that moves from a positive electrode (cathode) to a negative electrode (anode) during charging and vice versa during discharge. Lithium ion batteries are less environmentally damaging than batteries containing heavy metals such as cadmium and mercury, but recycling them is still far preferable to incinerating them or sending them to landfill. Lithium ion batteries are made up of one or more generating compartments called cells. Each cell is composed of three components: an anode, a cathode, and a chemical called an electrolyte in between them. Lithium ion batteries are becoming more common in portable electronic devices due to their high energy density, lack of memory effect, and high charge and discharge rate capabilities. Research and development work is ongoing to improve safety and increase capacity, charge/discharge rate, and lifetime. Demand for electric vehicle batteries is currently small, but it is expected to grow very quickly. China, Japan, South Korea, France, and the United States are the major lithium ion battery manufacturers for hybrid and electric vehicle applications. A lot of information from different sources was gathered with the purpose of comparing different Li ion batteries mechanisms, cathode and anode materials, structure and fabrication procedures, and their respective advantages and disadvantages. The linoleum works well with bold and clear carved out spaces, which I tried to incorporate into my piece when I noticed how my first few prints wren coming out clearly. I was pleased with the contrast that both sides made up, it was clear of the unfairness present in the world. On one side of the piece there is an overflowing sink, pouring onto a scale which is overflowing into a river. The gross abundance of water is used as a hyperbola to contrast with the other side of the piece. The other side has a well dripping a small amount of water around and on the scale. The amount of water is very small and scarce. The scarce amount of water on that side causes the ground beneath the scale to be cracked up and dry. The cracked ground compared to the river next to it that is separated by a scale, shows the imbalance in the world today. When making my piece I kept in mind what I was trying to draw attention to, the water crisis. My quote was a bit long for the piece, but it really summed up the problems my piece is trying to show. The quote I used was The wars of the twenty first century will be fought over water, which was said by Ismail
  • 53. Essay about Significance of the abject in Metamorphosis Discuss the significance of the abject in Metamorphosis. Metamorphosis is a remarkable novel that has spanned numerous themes; from alienation to the absurdity of life. And one of the major themes is that of the abject. The abject, by definition, describes something brought low in position or condition, lacking in courage, or simply rejected. In short, the abject is a recurring theme throughout Metamorphosis both literally; in the form of Gregor s grotesque physical form, and metaphorically; in the way Gregor reacts to and is treated by his family. Thus the significance of the abject on Gregor and his family will be the basis of analysis in this essay. Firstly, the physical sense of the abject is presented almost immediately in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The contrast between his position in life before and after the transformation was almost as marked as the transformation itself. In this way, the physical abject is not only a cause of the social abject, but also a symbol of it as well. Furthermore, Gregor s descent into social and physical abjection then forces his family to change radically in order to support themselves. In the beginning, Gregor starts off as the provider for his family. He hates his job, but he still goes above and beyond the call of duty to give his family a more comfortable life, even indulging the expensive endeavour of his sisters dream of studying the violin. However, after the metamorphosis, he is thrust into the role of a dependant forcing his family to take responsibility and support themselves. His sister steps up to the plate in the beginning, giving him a selection of foodstuffs to find what he likes and even cleaning up after him. His parents are still in denial at this point, so much so that they refuse to see him at all. But as time goes by, his family begins to accept the situation and even try to help Grete out. His father produces some money from his previous failed business venture and his mother and sister try to make life more comfortable for Gregor. Grete in particular changes the most noticeably; Gregor himself notes at the beginning that her life up till that point had been enviable , consisting of wearing nice
  • 54. Sea Of Monsters Themes After reading The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan, I found that one of the main themes is that everything comes from something and for a specific reason. It can be very important to know where we come from and other things about our background helping us discover our purpose. In this book you can obviously see that Tyson is an outcast and isn t properly appreciated. Annabeth and many others, such as the gray ladies, didn t even want to be anywhere near him. In paragraph 6 on page 23 the text states, Annabeth gave him a look of distaste that I didn t quite understand. Everyone seemed to underestimate him. They thought that he was no good and useless, purely because of the fact that he was a cyclops. Everyone was so caught up on how much
  • 55. Oxfords Dictionary Defines Lobbing As “A Group Of People Oxfords Dictionary defines lobbing as a group of people seeking to influence legislators on a particular issue. (needs in text citations)The term lobbing has been around our politics since the creation of the nation. The right to petition the government is based off of the first amendment, in which the people have a right to peaceably assemble and petition the government for grievances. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the reasons for nurse burnout is inadequate staffing. Inadequate nurse staffing effects many individuals. Most importantly, patients, nurses as well as hospital administrators. According to Department of Professional Employee [DPE], (2016), staffing issues affect nurses as it leads to nurse burnouts and affects nurse s health, increasing their risks for hypertension, cardiovascular disease and depression. Understaffing also leads to expensive human resources problems that can affect hospital administrator s budgets. The harsh demands of nursing are forcing nurses to consider alternative careers. Studies have shown the overall turnover cost per registered nurse is $65,000 (DPE, 2016). One solution proposed by NYSNA is the Safe Staffing for Quality Care Act, it proposes to require acute care facilities and nursing homes to implement certain direct care nurse to patient ratios in all nursing units; sets minimum staffing requirements; requires every such facility to submit a documented staffing plan to the department on an annual basis and upon application for an operating certificate; authorizes nurses to refuse work assignments if the assignment exceeds the nurses abilities or if the minimum staffing is not present. (bill A6571) This bill was passed by the New York State Assembly on June 14, 2016, the assembly of NY is in support of safe

Keppel FELS is among the first few fabricators in Singapore that has embraced new welding technology such as the use of high deposition submerged arc welding consumables. The way this high deposition submerged arc welding consumables work is that it uses the very same machinery, very same set of welding parameters, same operator skills and the characteristics of this consumables enables it to be welded much faster than other brand of welding consumables of the same specification. A comparison report was done on the use of this high deposition wire against competitors generic wire clearly shows that this high deposition wires saved the customer 135 minutes in welding a 0.95 meter length metal. (Michael, p.2). KFELS is estimated to have 50 of such machines that are able to use this high deposition wires which translates to a saving of 6,750 minutes when welding a 0.95m length of metal. Suffice to say, from a time saving factor point of view, the offshore fabricators in Malaysia would lag behind in terms of time taken to complete. As of today, no Malaysian fabricators have yet to incorporate these welding consumables in their project, although it s proven the time saved when using these high deposition wires far outweigh the initial purchase cost of it. Along with the time saving factor, fabrication yards in Batam Island are known to review their welding process from time to time and select the most cost saving welding
