The Causes Of Video Games And Videogames Cause Violence
Columbine, Connecticut and virginia all of these places burdened with tragedy. Families, loved ones,
lost. Though we seemed to have suffered quite enough, nothing heals the heart of those who were
related to those lost like politics. One thing besides tragedy that has related these events is oddly
enough videogames. With of course the big debate, videogames cause violence. Well of course there is
truth to the argument, but the question we are gonna consider is the quality of the arguments put forth.
In that area they just slander or do they leave you with information to think about.
One argument we hear time and time again is that videogames and videogame violence alike make the
user (usually quoted as child) violent. Even a broad consensus (90% of pediatricians and 67% of
parents) that video games causes violent behavior in children. to the point whereas even a causal
connection for some children between media violence and aggressive behavior, this stated by
american medical/psychological association stated Well over 1,000 studies including reports from the
Surgeon General s office, the National Institute of Mental Health, and numerous studies conducted by
leading figures within our medical and public health organizations our own members point
overwhelmingly to a causal connection between media violence and aggressive behavior in some
children. this assures to some of you that most would be said and done with that argument and live

Slastyona Concectionary
Case Analysis: Slastyona Confectionary Problem statement The underlying issue is the introduction of
compensation policies that would support Slastyona s business strategy of rapid growth. Slastyona is
willing to transform factory A into their flagship manufacturing site in Russia and in this region of the
world, which would require changes in the compensation and benefits policies that are being applied.
Taking into consideration the rapidly changing and complex environment in Russia, it is important pay
and HR policies to be implemented that would allow Slastyona to attract, retain and motivate high
performing individuals, in order to fulfill its objective to make Factory A state of the art factory. The

The Indian History And The Status Of Women
The Indian History and the Status of Women :
Women s security is closely connected to global security still they suffer simply because they differ in
gender. According to the UN Commission on Human Security, the security of one person, one
community, one nation rests on the decisions of many others, sometimes fortuitously, sometimes
precariously . However, in the interrelated world everyone is influenced either positively or negatively
by the decisions of individuals or states (UNIFEM
2003). To understand the status of the Indian women it is important to understand the history gender
discrimination in the country.
In 1947, the Indian history of violence against women was perceivable in the violent nature of the
nation s partition. The women were raped, abducted and their bodies were used as a medium of men s
evil expression as Indian Hindus and the Pakistani Muslims battled for power to defend their
countries. This tactic of humiliating the opponent by using women s bodies as a tool of power
dominance is still being practiced in the Indian society and is visible in the cases of Devi and Sori
(Dobhal 2011: 598).
Mother India, commonly termed as Bharat Mata in Sanskrit is the national personification of
India as a mother goddess which is widely depicted as a woman clad in a saffron sari holding the
national flag. The position of women was high in India and some might argue that degrading
positioning of women in the society is influenced by the impact of colonialism.

Criminal Copyright And Intellectual Property Laws
Criminal copyright infringement can come in many forms. Anything that has been created by one s
mind can technically be considered intellectual property. While the initial idea itself is not something
that can be protected by copyright law, patents and actual plans from ideas can be. Many copyright
cases are of a civil nature. This occurs when a person or organization feels their intellectual property
has been used without their consent and want either compensation or for the accused party to cease
use of the material.
While civil cases aim to make the offended party whole criminal cases are intended to penalize those
who break the law. Throughout time criminal copyright legislation and penalties have changed. This is
partially due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There seems to be no solid explanation of why this is. The No Electronic Theft Act, Digital
Millennium Copyright Act, and Digital Theft Deterrence and Copyright Damages Improvement Act of
1999 are all aimed at decreasing the threshold for what counts as criminal infringement and increasing
penalties for criminal copyright infringement (Masnick, 2012). Mike Masnick wrote his article in
2012 and the last law listed was enacted in 2008. Since this time there have been even more shifts in
how copyrights are infringed upon.
International Copyright Law When it comes to international copyright law things can get quite
complicated. To put things in the simplest possible terms, there is no one set of laws that govern all
intellectual property disputes around the world. Different countries have different rules on copyrights
and there are also different rules and levels of enforcement. There is however some common ground
among countries in the realm of intellectual property. This common ground comes in the form of
treaties. These treaties between territories help with both the protection of intellectual property and
enforcement against those who infringe upon copyrights. Copyright.gov, the United States
governments official website for information on copyright law list two treaties as being principal in
governing international

Summary Of The Great Gatsby Chapter 1
Chapter 1 Discussion Director 1. Why is Nick narrating the story? I m not sure why he is but it seems
to me that it is important to the story. It could be that he s a window into the character looking from
the outside. 2. Why was Gatsby looking at the green light at the end of the chapter what did that
mean? I m not sure but it seems like it would be symbolic. It certainly is mysterious and you wonder
who is over there and why Gatsby has his arms out. Chapter Discussion Notes This chapter starts out
with Nick narrating the story We figure out that this Nick guy is a Caraway The caraways are a
wealthy and classy family Nick went to Yale Basically Nick tells us about being non judgmental and
how people tell him their life stories because of his non judgmental listening guy attitude He starts to

there. In this chapter Nick goes to the Buchanans he goes mainly to see Daisy who is his cousin. They

Hamlet Ghost Is Real Essay
Maybe he s real and maybe he s not, either way, the ghost certainly seems real to Hamlet. Throughout
Hamlet, both the reader and young Hamlet are in a dilemma as to whether or not the ghost of Hamlet s
father is a spirit sent to tempt and destroy Hamlet or if it is truly his father who has come to reveal the
tragedy of his death so that revenge can be sought. On the one hand, it is rather easy to believe that the
general Shakespearian attitudes and assumptions about apparitions are correct, that they are spirits
sent from hell to tempt and wreak havoc on the living. On the other hand, however, the reader, like
Hamlet, cannot help but feel compelled to listen to the ghost s tale about his death and his lack of
peace. Because of the verbal power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So It is clearly possible that the ghost as a father might just be a figment of Hamlet s imagination, as
Hamlet is also the only one who has a dialogue with the ghost and he s the only one who sees or hears
it when the ghost shows up, for instance, in Gertrude s chamber to remind Hamlet to be nice to his
mom. Even before Hamlet finds out that the ghost has been appearing on the castle walls, he says to
Horatio My father methinks I see my father [...] in my mind s eye Has Hamlet been imagining his
conversations with the ghost the whole time? Creating the ghost out of his wild imagination could be
Hamlet s way of dealing with the loss of the father he loved and idolized. Regardless of whether or not
the ghost actually exists though, the spirit perhaps represents the way young Hamlet is haunted by his
father s memory. Even though Claudius insists Hamlet s deep grief is unmanly and Gertrude pushes
Hamlet constantly to just move one, the prince just mentally and emotionally

Assessing Customer Experiences with Customer Service at My...
Introduction
A recent visit to the service department of the local auto dealership I purchased a car from two years
ago forms the foundation of this analysis. As auto dealerships rely on service departments for the
majority of their revenue I thought the experience would be a mix of pure efficiency and relationship
building. Previous experiences with this dealership have shown them to be not as trustworthy as I had
hoped they would be as well. One of the most critical aspects of transitioning customers from being
treated as members of a transaction to actually being fans is trust (Gronroos, 1994). Trust is such a
critical catalyst to make a customer experience successful that technologies need to better measure and

He nodded and didn t say another word. I asked him for the cost to look at it and he said there would
be no charge. I got the sense that even though the car was under warranty the dealership wanted to still
make money on this repair. That troubled me. I gave the technician the keys and he took the car into
the repair bays, as I went inside to talk to the service manager and ask them what the policy was on
warranty repairs. He told me they were all covered and would take care of it. I asked him if
technicians were on commission for how many repairs they sold and he just laughed and walked away.
To this point in the interaction it was clear the dealership looked at me as more of just another
transaction to be completed during their day. There was no specific focus on how to take the
transaction and transform it into more of a conversation or relationship (Gronroos, 1994). The entire
culture of the dealership seemed to resonate with a transaction mindset, as sales people in the coffee
room asked if I wanted to see the new models in the showroom on sale this weekend (Harris Ogbonna,
1999). One of the sales people had sold me the car that was in for repairs and he started the
conversation with the requisite so how is your 2009 Camry running? and then directly into the sales
pitch.

Murray introduces a situation pertaining a student who is electrically inclined and his alternate career

Lumumba s Alliance With The Soviet Union
Lumumba s alliance with the Soviet Union fractured the Congo government. Kasa Vubu dismissed
Lumumba from service on 5 September 1960, citing as his excuse, a massacre conducted in South
Kasai. At the same time, Joseph Mobutu took control of the military and began recruiting supporters.
Though he dismissed Lumumba, Kasa Vubu did not have a majority within the government and
fighting ensued. Mobuto saw his opportunity to successfully implement a coup and have both
Lumumba and Kasa Vubu replaced. Mobuto dismissed the Soviet advisors sent to assist Lumumba
and effectively sided with Kasa Vubu. Mobuto would reinstate him as president in February 1961.
Lumumba on the other hand, was placed on house arrest. He managed to escape but was caught
shortly thereafter and was tortured before being sent to Katanga to death. His death sparked an
international outrage with demonstrations being held in New York and London. (Nzongola Ntalaja
69).
On 21 November 1961, the UN took a more proactive stance during the Congo Crisis with Resolution
169. This resolution gave the UN military forces the right to use all the force necessary to maintain
law and order and assist the central government of the Congo. It also vehemently rejected the Katanga
government s claim of independence. By December 1962, UN troops moved into Elisabethville,
occupied the city, and forced Tshombe to surrender. This effectively ended the Katanga secession
crisis. The end of this secession crisis prompted an attempt at

The Effects Of Air Conditioning On The United States
Is the United States addicted to air conditioning? The use of air conditioning within the United States
is higher than any other country As Badger has noted: We love our air conditioning in the U.S. The
amenity is more common in American homes 87 percent of us have either central air or window units .
This has resulted in Americans becoming addicted to air conditioning. Addiction can be caused from
always being around cooled homes, offices and cars. People start to get used to feeling the cool
temperatures instead of the hot weather. Before Americans realize it, living without air conditioning
becomes harder. Europeans do not use as much air conditioning; instead, they decide to tough it out
and deal with the hotter weather. This is important because as the world s energy is not 100%
environmentally friendly, pollution will increase from the higher demand for energy. As the damage to
the environment continues it could get to a point where the damage can be irreversible. Mainly the
damage is being done to the protective ozone layer in the atmosphere. The ozone layer helps the earth
block harmful ultraviolet rays, which can cause temperature rise and skin cancer to humans.
Americans should decrease the use of air conditioning because greener methods for cooling are
possible; the cool culture can be reversed, and adapting building regulations will help cool buildings
differently.
The cool culture of the United States is one that resulted from people getting used to air

On a daily basis a considerable amount of Americans unwind and observe their surroundings pass by,
fantasizing about getting out and achieving their aspirations. Although it is common for desires, one s

incentive. One of the most iconic brand up to date, Nike, is often known for it s vast marketing
campaign which pairs gifted and captivating athletes with top line, enticing goods. The indelible

Oscar makes an anticipating statement, Baby Daniel is just waking up. He is going to win a
championship one day . The ad then transitions into scenes showcasing the struggle of athletes in the
early stages a lethargic runner, a golfer with dreadful swings, a tennis player who lacks focus, and a
toddler scrambling around with a basketball. Throughout these scenes, Oscar determines everyone s
destined achievements, This guy? He ll run a marathon. She is going to have the best swing in the
state. She will totally win the city s open tournament. All of the amatuer athletes respond with self
doubt and confusion, Who me? Get out?! The self doubt found in these athletes are commonly found
in people who go face struggles when overcoming an activity. It also explains that not everyone is
born a winner. The frail and clumsy phase ends with Oscar candidly claiming that, All of these athletes
are terrible now, but they will all do big things one day . This key quote signifies the theme of
perseverance. Subsequently as the ad goes on, the narrator s tone grows drastically more ecstatic. In
these scenes we are exposed to athletes who are performing in their athletic peak . At first we are
given a swimmer who seems really intrigued as he leads a race. Afterwards a soccer player confidently

Factors That Affect The Individual s Sense Of Self Is...
The main point of Baldwin et al. s theoretical analysis was to discover how an individual s sense of
self is affected by many components, including personal experiences. The mental association between
these two factors was proposed because self prospection and close relationships are tied to how
individuals view themselves. We sometimes see ourselves as who we re with, and how they treat us
translates to how we see ourselves. 2. Focus on the first study that Baldwin et al. report (that is, Study
1, not the first research article they cite). What is the hypothesis that is being tested in this study? The
Hypothesis of the first study is, there is an alteration in an individual s self prospection when greeted
with responses, whether it be negative or positive. 3. Summarize the design, the independent variables,
and the dependent variables. When you describe the IV and DV, first tell me what they are at a
psychological level (what are the experimenters trying to manipulate or measure in people s heads?),
and then tell me what they are at the level of concrete operations (what exactly did the experimenters
have participants do in the study what procedure did they use?). The design of the study is completing
three questions, and then getting shown a response. If the response was positive it reinforced the
individual s response to the questions. If the given response was negative, then the individual
reconsidered their past answers. The independent variable of this study

Essay about Role of Apra
APRA was established following the Wallis Committee s recommendation in 1 July 1998 under
Australian Prudential Regulation Authority Act. In the amended Banking Act 1959(Cth), responsibility
for the conduct of prudential supervision and depositor protection moves from the Reserve Bank to
APRA. Its intention is to provide for a more consistent, competitively neutral and efficient approach to
the regulation of financial institutions, while enhancing overall depositor protection and financial
system stability 1. This paper will thus find out about ARPA s responsibilities related to banking in
traditional sense of the term.

APS 110 sets out detailed capital requirements which apply on a stand alone as well as consolidated
group basic except foreign ADIs. APRA appraises the ADI s financial strength at three levels to ensure
that the ADI is adequately capitalised. These are level 1 comprising ADI itself or the ELE, level 2
consolidated banking group and level 3 the conglomerate group4. Furthermore, consistent with Basel
Capital Accord, the approach used by APRA for assessing an ADI s capital adequacy focuses on three
main elements. The definition of capital base and eligible components are set out in APS 111 capital
adequacy. A bank s risk weighted exposures are determined in accordance with requirements and
procedures in APS 112 credit risk and APS 113 market risk5.
Banks are required, unless APRA set higher levels, to maintain at level 1 and 2 as a minimum risk
weighted capital ratio of 4 % in Tier 1 and 8% for total capital at all times. APRA assess and takes into
account the general risks and other circumstances relevant for the individual ADI. A capital buffer
could be added by ADI if the ADI is judged as being vulnerable more than normal volatility in its
revenues and risks. In considering the required capital ratio, APRA considers all material risks, both

Charlie Ravioli Essay

Through Another Pair of Eyes The perception of life through someone else s eyes can alter one s
appreciation toward that particular lifestyle. Culture is perceived differently depending on the type of
environment in which we grow accustomed to. It can also range from the type of location in which we
live in. For instance, someone living in a different state would have a different perception of the way
we do things compared to their ways. In the essay Bumping into Mr. Ravioli, by Adam Gopnik, the
view on life is seen differently when viewed in Gopnik s perception. However, this perception of life
changes when viewed in a different point of view. Gopnik s perception of life ... Show more content

Gopnik learns about the busy lifestyle of Charlie Ravioli and begins to understand more of how a New
Yorker lives. Gopnik also realizes that the environment contributes to the personality of Olivia s
imaginary friend. Gopnik states Why is busyness the stuff our children make their invisible friends
from, as country children make theirs from light and sand? (Gopnik 156). According to Gopnik,
children base their imaginary friends from the type of environment they live in. For example, since
Olivia lives in New York, Her imaginary friend, Charlie Ravioli, has the personality of a busy person
living in New York. However, a child living on the countryside would create an imaginary that has a
personality based off that environment. These two quotes exhibit the idea of different lifestyles based
off different environments. Gopnik beings to understand the busy lifestyle of people in New York and
understands why Charlie Ravioli never has time to play with Olivia. He learns to appreciate this type
of lifestyle and will eventually grow accustomed to it especially living in such a busy city. Gopnik
also learns to understand more about his lifestyle and that in order to adjust to the busy lifestyle, he
has to get involved with the routine. Furthermore, Gopnik perception of life allowed him to learn
about the advances of technology and communications that has evolved overtime. Gopnik never

The Apology Of Plato s The Iliad
Let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. These famous words,
spoken by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in his first inaugural address, have famously resonated
throughout history, and although they were said nearly 2000 years after the events of Plato s The
Apology, they perfectly correspond with what is perhaps the most noteworthy moment of the Plato s
text. The Apology is Plato s recounting of Socrates trial, in which he faced charges of corrupting the
youth, and believing in Gods different than the Gods of the state of Athens. In the trial, Socrates
makes his argument as to why he should be found innocent of all the charges placed upon him. One of
the most interesting arguments that Socrates makes in his defense is comparing himself to Achilles,
the great Greek warrior from Homer s The Iliad. He makes this comparison multiple times in his
argument, and although it may seem like Socratic irony for the short, fat, philosopher to compare
himself to a great Warrior, Socrates is completely serious in his comparison. He used a comparison
between himself and Achilles as an analogy to represent his immense motivation to Philosophy.
Achilles, living in an honor culture, was willing to die over what he believed was right, and Socrates
was no different in that regard.
After his service in war, Socrates dedicated his life to pursuing the many truths of the world. His
reputation as a philosopher grew, and he soon discovered the Oracle of

Summary Of The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas
Ursula Le Guin s short story The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas is a plotless, philosophical
fiction. Written in 1973, Le Guin tells the dark narrative of a fictional town which lives in peace with
itself. The seemingly happy town houses a dark secret, one so dark that citizen s of the town leave to
escape it. Ursula Le Guin does this by using authorial intrusion, withholding information, and
encouraging her readers to think. Le Guin has written The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas in
such a way that its interpretation depends on the reader and not the text. It is the reader s perspective
in life and the world that shapes the image he perceives while reading this story. The citizens of
Omelas are referred to as they while everyone who does not live in Omelas is referred to as we to
show that they are separate from us. The author does this early in the story to show the reader that the
people in Omelas are not like the reader. They are very different. Le Guin continues with this strategy
when she plays with the minds of the readers by suggesting ideas into the heads of the readers then
shortly afterwards she retracts these ideas. A great example of this is when she suggests there is a King
who is on a stallion and surrounded by knights, but in the next line tells us that there is no King. This
procedure has the reader picturing an image then later having to dismiss this image time and time
again. This style is very clever because it keeps the reader interested and guessing

Examining The Functional Connectivity Of A Whole Brain Atlas
Background: The brain is often considered the most complex organ in the human body. It is also the
most difficult to understand, given the vast array of different functions spread throughout its mass and
the interconnected functionality of its regions that makes subdividing it based on form or function a
difficult task. Craddock, et al. (2012), in the article examined, attempt to produce a method for further
examining the functional connectivity (FC) of the regions of the brain and subdivide them based on
spatial positioning and function. Understanding FC in the brain can significantly improve
understanding of many brain functions and the effect of outside stimulus of various parts of the brain.
This examination will only be able to take place by creating an accurate whole brain atlas. This
creation of a whole brain atlas, or a map of the brain separating it into regions of interest (ROI) based
positioning and/or function, has typically been done via fMRI analysis of the brain combined with an
anatomically based mapping procedure. This study seeks to use fMRI technology combined with an
algorithm to create voxel clusters or ROI s that optimize both spatial coherence and homogeneity in
regards to the FC of the individual ROIs that can closely match of the results of a voxel wise analysis,
while improving on computation power required and interpretability.
Clinical Significance: The usefulness of this technology and methodology can be found in both

A Brief Note On The American Public Health Association
It costs taxpayers over $2 billion dollars a year in medical charges to care for victims of firearms
related injuries. The American Public Health Association (APHA) released a study at their annual
meeting stating that the high figures underline the need to treat gun violence in the U.S. as a public
health issue as well as a law enforcement challenge. There are massive amounts of people that get hurt
each year by guns, which puts a huge burden on our healthcare system. According to the American
Public Health Association, one out of every three patients hospitalized for gun injuries was uninsured.
Many of these uninsured victims of gun violence will see their medical costs reduced due to President
Obama s health care reform law, which offers more low income Americans access to Medicaid.
Between 2000 and 2010, 275,939 individuals were victims of gunfire in the U.S., and received 1.7
million days of hospital charges which only included costs after the patient was admitted, which does
not include emergency room costs. The cost for a person to be hospitalized for medical treatment due
to a firearms related injury is approximately $75,884, which is about $14,000 more than that of the
average hospital stay due to the severity of the injuries often involved, and approximately 31,000 die,
addition to the enormous number of injuries from guns. In addition, the cost of building expensive
hospital trauma units needed for this type of treatment. Some of the research findings

running down the court so fast her long, tangled hair flew back. She passed the ball to Skeeter. Skeeter

Well duh I knew we would win. Emily, the point guard, said with a smirk.
The next day in Math class they got their tests back. Alec closed her eyes and breathed deeply hoping
for the best. She slowly looked down. OMG an +A!!!!!! I did it, now we have three things to

The Importance Of Seismic Data
The reliability of seismic data may influenced by different factors in the acquisition process. For
ensuring and better understanding of the reservoir characteristics, these factors should be avoided
from the seismic data. Seismic data are superposed and in the case of low signal to noise ratio (SNR)
sometimes completely masked by noise. To prepare these seismic data for further application,
processing, maximize the potential benefit, and contribution of the seismic data in exploration and
development, we need to improve the SNR by attenuating noise and preserving important features of
seismic data. Different methods have been proposed for denoising and preserving different features of
seismic data depending on the nature and assumptions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In NLM denoising algorithm the image is divided in to different repeated small patches. The noise can
be removed and important features of the data preserved by taking advantages of the redundant
information of patches. It achieves a promising result by averaging local neighborhood pixels with the
similarities of the redundant patches. Each pixel of the image adjusted with a weighted average of
other pixels whose neighborhoods has similar geometrical configuration. During noise attenuation
method NLM algorithm also retain some important features of seismic data.
Different methods have been proposed in the field of natural image and seismic data processing for
better noise attenuation of original NLM algorithm in terms of patch size, smoothing parameter,
developing new weight function, and computational complexity. For the task of patch similarity
measure, different weight functions have been proposed. To measure the patch similarities of noisy
data based on the statistical distribution of noise, the NLM depends on Bayesian frame work proposed
citep{Kervrann et al.}. citep{Tasdizen et al.} also proposed a new method to measure the patch
similarity in the domain of principal component analysis which depends on transform domain method.
Adaptive NLM algorithm citep{Shang et al., Jing and Yu, Dinesh and Ramya} have been proposed to

Essay about If I See A Ghost Are My Senses
IF I SEE A GHOST ARE MY SENSES TO BLAME?
To complement the full apprehension of the terms which will be used throughout this argument, a
number of meanings taken from The Lexicon Webster Dictionary is provided:
GHOST
The soul or spirit of a dead person. A disembodied spirit.
HALLUCINATION
(psy) an apparent perception, as by sight or hearing, for which there is no real external cause, as
distinguished from illusion
ILLUSION
A false impression or belief. False perception or conception of some object of sense. A perception of a
thing which misrepresents it, or gives it qualities not present in reality.
GOD
Creator and ruler of the universe, eternal, infinite spirit, the Supreme Being.

All these examples fall under error of perception but the following is an interesting experiment carried
out by the Toronto Society Of Psychical Research. They discovered that séance phenomena might be
attributed, at least in part, to the same psychokinetic force that is commonly believed to be responsible
for poltergeist (unquiet ghost) activity. They suggested that this force could be produced by the minds
of the sitters, fuelled perhaps by their unanimous belief that such phenomena would occur during the
séance. They theorized that the role of the medium was that of a placebo, and that no particular
psychic sensitivity was necessary for a successful séance.
Apart from considering all the forms of perceptional errors, we can explain the existence of such
spirits that are perceived (but not always believed!) If we want to stick to the Rationalist philosophy
and therefore state that such presences should be reasoned out, rather than just experienced, we can
say that this subject has brought together many professionals from around the globe, using their
knowledge and their equipment to get the truth out. This type of philosophical approach is what I am
trying to use to explain these so called ghosts.

Juvenile Crime And Juvenile Justice System
In Society, many are concerned about the high percentage of crimes that are committed, we tend to
turn immediately to our youth thinking that if we somehow manage to keep youth under control we
will deter crimes. As discuss in chapter 9 and the OJJPD reports, the juvenile justice system had
determined that by waiving and transferring minors who commit crimes to criminal courts to be tried
and punished like an adult, there would be a decrease on violent crimes. On the other hand, there are
many intake alternatives and diversion programs that can be considered instead of crowding up the
criminal courts with juveniles delinquents. Research have point out various types of studies, which
makes a comparison of the effects on youth who were transferred to adult criminal court with those
who were retained in juvenile justice system. In the processes, youth were matched with their age,
gender, race, and prior offense history through automated data systems. By doing so, it concluded that
it was more likely to see an increase recidivism in youth when they were transferred to criminal courts
than to see an end of it. Therefore, placing youth in criminal court will give that young person less
opportunity to regained the possibility to become a better citizen. It is clearly that placing kids in adult
jails, gives them the urge to learn how to be tough and defend themselves by proving to real criminals
that they can be good criminals too, making them want to reoffend when they get

Fannie Mae Case Study
The congress has determined that the executive compensation system is unreasonable during the crisis
in 2000s. Fannie Mae s compensation committee was equally in effective. The committee allowed the
company s CEO, Franklin Raines, to select the consultant employed to design the mortgage firm s
executive compensation plan and agreed to a tiered bonus plan that would permit Raines and other
senior managers to receive maximum bonuses without great difficulty. Raines receives $52 million in
performance based bonuses and $90 million in total compensation during 1999 and 2004. The Office
of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight found that Fannie Mae had cautiously overstated earnings to
obtains bonus linked to financial performance. Securities and Exchange Commission also found
evidence which indicates that Fannie Mae is involve in improper accounting and required it to restate
its earnings between 2002 and 2004 by $6.3 billion. Moreover, Freddie Mac was also involved in
manipulative accounting to receive bonuses. Freddie Mac s CEO Richard Syron received $19.8
million in compensation while the mortgage company s share decline from a high $70 in 2005 to $25
in the end of the year 2007. Fannie Mae s compensation philosophy is that it should attract, retain, and
reward the skilled talent needed to successfully manage a leading financial services company.
Compensation must be consistent with its charter, which require compensation plan to be realistic and

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas Essay
On October 27, 2015 I went to see Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Gilliam, 1998). Adapted from the
novel of the same name, Raoul Duke adventures through the west with his lawyer in search of the
American dream. Experimental in nature, this film strays from the traditional formula of story telling.
Its plot is hard to discern due to the constant intoxication of the main characters. Through the various
psychedelic drugs Raoul and Dr. Gonzo consumed in the duration of this film, the audience was able
to experience a bad trip alongside the characters. Ralph Steadman and Terry Gilliam s method of
associating mental inebriation while fruitlessly searching for something, highlights the difficulty of
finding the American dream. During the October screening of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, the
guest speaker spoke of the ideology approach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of counterculture is in opening scene of the film with the non diegetic inserts of race and
anti war protests. Toward the middle of the film when Dr. Gonzo abandoned Raoul, Raoul was pulled
over by a police officer for speeding. Despite being under the influence and in possession of drug
paraphernalia, Raoul was left to his devices under the guise that he would take a nap. In addition to
exposing the inconsistent application of judicial punishment, this scene subtlety shout outs to the
counterculture movement of the 1960s. Raoul and his lawyer s frequent violet escapades juxtaposes
the typical idea of American society; furthermore, the cause of their illegal activities is to find the
American dream. This is exemplified in the latter half of the film during a montage of Raoul and Dr.
Gonzo s week long drunken stupor. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas direct irony and tactic of subtly
protesting American society gives this film an additional layer of depth. This meaning is only
communicated through to the audience under the ideological

Reflection About Technology
How do you relate to technology? You might have been asked this question before, but even if you
haven t this is a question that everyone could answer; there just might be different ways to answer. For
me, when people ask how I relate to technology my mind cannot help but go to my iPhone and all the
apps that I scroll through all the time, and yes, even when I am in the restroom. (we have all done this
before). My favorite part about my cell phone and the applications that I am offered is the question
itself; they allow me to relate a technology that everyone has some knowledge about to something that
I am passionate about, the gospel. There are many apps on my cell phone that I enjoy, but only a few
can keep me so entertained that I can hardly put my phone down to go to sleep at night. Usually, when
I am bored, I quickly scroll through my phone to see an application that is going to satisfy me for the
next 20 minutes of my life. Until, I get bored of that as well, but when it comes to the applications that
are teaching me about God, I become deeply Intrigued and encouraged by what I am reminded. It s
like a buffet, I start at the salad line and keep walking hoping there is something else that is better, and
when I get to the dessert boy am I the happiest girl in the world!
We have all made a phone call at one point our lives, and if you haven t, you probably know someone
who has. Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced FaceTime on June 7, 2010, in conjunction with the iPhone
4, in

How Did Maria Sklodowska Contribute To Science
Have you heard of Marie Curie? She was a Polish scientist who discovered polonium and radium,
winning a Nobel Prize twice − the first time in history. Marie made important contributions to science,
which are still felt today.
Maria Sklodowska was born in Poland on November 7, 1867. She had four siblings and was the
youngest child. Maria s father was Wladyslaw. When young Maria was only ten years old, though, her
mother Bronislawa died of tuberculosis. When Marie was older, her sister offered her lodgings in
Paris. She immediately went over to France and attended Sorbonne University. At the university, she
earned a master s in Physics in 1893 and completed another degree in Math one year after.
Later in life, Marie Curie met Pierre Curie,

Video Time Is Good Or Bad For Kids
With so much technological activity, some wonder if the screen time is good or bad for kids.
According to Oxford Dictionaries, screen time is the Time spent using a device such as a computer,
television, or games console. Many advocate and promote that if used properly, the prolonged use of
digital media is a means for children to develop and interact more quickly in today s age. However,
some parents have been concerned that too much technology usage may in fact interfere with children
s development. While the two opposing sides have differing opinions on how screen time affects
children, both sides agree on doing whatever is best for the better development of children and
adolescents.
In an era like the twenty first century, it is not unusual for children all over America to be exposed to
technology. The Pew Research Center released the Teens, Social Media, Technology Overview 2015,
which determined that eighty seven percent of adolescents have access to a computer and fifty eight
percent have access to a tablet (Lenhart). In addition, the research center also reported that ninety two
percent of adolescents reported daily internet use. Before, children were playing outside with friends
for fun, and socializing with their friends and family in person. Today, kids play and interact through
laptops, tablets, and other media devices. Technology has become a part of most children and
adolescent s everyday life, through the way they interact with the world.

Self Exposure Therapy
Self regulation of care; refers to maintaining attention in the immediate experience without seeking
control. It is necessary to cultivate the following skills:
Sustained Attention: maintain a waking state for extended periods of time.
Attentional change: bring attention to the breath when you recognize the thoughts, feelings or
sensations (flexibility of attention). (Bishop (2004) Do not elaborate thoughts, feelings, and feelings as
they arise. It is not a question of suppressing them, but if not fully capturing the attention to avoid
thinking. The activity of self regulation of care has the capacity to expand the limits of one s attention.
Beginner s mind refers to the direct observation, purged of beliefs, of various objects.
The radical acceptance component, which Bishop includes in the orientation to experience, is probably
the most essential component of the experience of mindfulness to the client at a therapeutic level. This
radical acceptance recalls, with all possible nuances, Ellis s distinction in his REBT (Rational Emotive
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) between primary and secondary problems. For Ellis, secondary
problems are products of non acceptance of primary problems, being essential to address these
secondary problems before the primary. (Ellis A. (1980). Germer ... Show more content on

Is one of the most useful intervention procedures in CBT in mindfulness, one works to contemplate
the sensations, thoughts, emotions as they are, without trying to control them or change them
(interceptive exhibition in imagination and in vivo to the internal events giving place to the emotional
reprocessing of the aversive contents). The Kabat Zinn (1990) program of stress reduction based on
conscience directs attention to various body areas. Segal believes that exposing depressive patients to
the contents of their thoughts can help free them from fear of their emotional states and become aware
of their transience. (Goldin, P. R., Gross, J. J.

  • 2. The Causes Of Video Games And Videogames Cause Violence Columbine, Connecticut and virginia all of these places burdened with tragedy. Families, loved ones, lost. Though we seemed to have suffered quite enough, nothing heals the heart of those who were related to those lost like politics. One thing besides tragedy that has related these events is oddly enough videogames. With of course the big debate, videogames cause violence. Well of course there is truth to the argument, but the question we are gonna consider is the quality of the arguments put forth. In that area they just slander or do they leave you with information to think about. One argument we hear time and time again is that videogames and videogame violence alike make the user (usually quoted as child) violent. Even a broad consensus (90% of pediatricians and 67% of parents) that video games causes violent behavior in children. to the point whereas even a causal connection for some children between media violence and aggressive behavior, this stated by american medical/psychological association stated Well over 1,000 studies including reports from the Surgeon General s office, the National Institute of Mental Health, and numerous studies conducted by leading figures within our medical and public health organizations our own members point overwhelmingly to a causal connection between media violence and aggressive behavior in some children. this assures to some of you that most would be said and done with that argument and live their life repeating the ... • 5. The Indian History And The Status Of Women The Indian History and the Status of Women : Women s security is closely connected to global security still they suffer simply because they differ in gender. According to the UN Commission on Human Security, the security of one person, one community, one nation rests on the decisions of many others, sometimes fortuitously, sometimes precariously . However, in the interrelated world everyone is influenced either positively or negatively by the decisions of individuals or states (UNIFEM 2003). To understand the status of the Indian women it is important to understand the history gender discrimination in the country. In 1947, the Indian history of violence against women was perceivable in the violent nature of the nation s partition. The women were raped, abducted and their bodies were used as a medium of men s evil expression as Indian Hindus and the Pakistani Muslims battled for power to defend their countries. This tactic of humiliating the opponent by using women s bodies as a tool of power dominance is still being practiced in the Indian society and is visible in the cases of Devi and Sori (Dobhal 2011: 598). Mother India, commonly termed as Bharat Mata in Sanskrit is the national personification of India as a mother goddess which is widely depicted as a woman clad in a saffron sari holding the national flag. The position of women was high in India and some might argue that degrading positioning of women in the society is influenced by the impact of colonialism. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Criminal Copyright And Intellectual Property Laws Criminal copyright infringement can come in many forms. Anything that has been created by one s mind can technically be considered intellectual property. While the initial idea itself is not something that can be protected by copyright law, patents and actual plans from ideas can be. Many copyright cases are of a civil nature. This occurs when a person or organization feels their intellectual property has been used without their consent and want either compensation or for the accused party to cease use of the material. While civil cases aim to make the offended party whole criminal cases are intended to penalize those who break the law. Throughout time criminal copyright legislation and penalties have changed. This is partially due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There seems to be no solid explanation of why this is. The No Electronic Theft Act, Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and Digital Theft Deterrence and Copyright Damages Improvement Act of 1999 are all aimed at decreasing the threshold for what counts as criminal infringement and increasing penalties for criminal copyright infringement (Masnick, 2012). Mike Masnick wrote his article in 2012 and the last law listed was enacted in 2008. Since this time there have been even more shifts in how copyrights are infringed upon. International Copyright Law When it comes to international copyright law things can get quite complicated. To put things in the simplest possible terms, there is no one set of laws that govern all intellectual property disputes around the world. Different countries have different rules on copyrights and there are also different rules and levels of enforcement. There is however some common ground among countries in the realm of intellectual property. This common ground comes in the form of treaties. These treaties between territories help with both the protection of intellectual property and enforcement against those who infringe upon copyrights. • 8. Summary Of The Great Gatsby Chapter 1 Chapter 1 Discussion Director 1. Why is Nick narrating the story? I m not sure why he is but it seems to me that it is important to the story. It could be that he s a window into the character looking from the outside. 2. Why was Gatsby looking at the green light at the end of the chapter what did that mean? I m not sure but it seems like it would be symbolic. It certainly is mysterious and you wonder who is over there and why Gatsby has his arms out. • 9. Hamlet Ghost Is Real Essay Maybe he s real and maybe he s not, either way, the ghost certainly seems real to Hamlet. Throughout Hamlet, both the reader and young Hamlet are in a dilemma as to whether or not the ghost of Hamlet s father is a spirit sent to tempt and destroy Hamlet or if it is truly his father who has come to reveal the tragedy of his death so that revenge can be sought. On the one hand, it is rather easy to believe that the general Shakespearian attitudes and assumptions about apparitions are correct, that they are spirits sent from hell to tempt and wreak havoc on the living. On the other hand, however, the reader, like Hamlet, cannot help but feel compelled to listen to the ghost s tale about his death and his lack of peace. Because of the verbal power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So It is clearly possible that the ghost as a father might just be a figment of Hamlet s imagination, as Hamlet is also the only one who has a dialogue with the ghost and he s the only one who sees or hears it when the ghost shows up, for instance, in Gertrude s chamber to remind Hamlet to be nice to his mom. Even before Hamlet finds out that the ghost has been appearing on the castle walls, he says to Horatio My father methinks I see my father [...] in my mind s eye Has Hamlet been imagining his conversations with the ghost the whole time? Creating the ghost out of his wild imagination could be Hamlet s way of dealing with the loss of the father he loved and idolized. Regardless of whether or not the ghost actually exists though, the spirit perhaps represents the way young Hamlet is haunted by his father s memory. Even though Claudius insists Hamlet s deep grief is unmanly and Gertrude pushes Hamlet constantly to just move one, the prince just mentally and emotionally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Assessing Customer Experiences with Customer Service at My... Introduction A recent visit to the service department of the local auto dealership I purchased a car from two years ago forms the foundation of this analysis. As auto dealerships rely on service departments for the majority of their revenue I thought the experience would be a mix of pure efficiency and relationship building. Previous experiences with this dealership have shown them to be not as trustworthy as I had hoped they would be as well. One of the most critical aspects of transitioning customers from being treated as members of a transaction to actually being fans is trust (Gronroos, 1994). Trust is such a critical catalyst to make a customer experience successful that technologies need to better measure and evaluate this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He nodded and didn t say another word. I asked him for the cost to look at it and he said there would be no charge. I got the sense that even though the car was under warranty the dealership wanted to still make money on this repair. That troubled me. I gave the technician the keys and he took the car into the repair bays, as I went inside to talk to the service manager and ask them what the policy was on warranty repairs. He told me they were all covered and would take care of it. I asked him if technicians were on commission for how many repairs they sold and he just laughed and walked away. To this point in the interaction it was clear the dealership looked at me as more of just another transaction to be completed during their day. There was no specific focus on how to take the transaction and transform it into more of a conversation or relationship (Gronroos, 1994). The entire culture of the dealership seemed to resonate with a transaction mindset, as sales people in the coffee room asked if I wanted to see the new models in the showroom on sale this weekend (Harris Ogbonna, 1999). One of the sales people had sold me the car that was in for repairs and he started the conversation with the requisite so how is your 2009 Camry running? and then directly into the sales pitch. Towards the end of essay, Murray introduces a situation pertaining a student who is electrically inclined and his alternate career options when pursuing a business management degree. • 12. Lumumba s Alliance With The Soviet Union Lumumba s alliance with the Soviet Union fractured the Congo government. Kasa Vubu dismissed Lumumba from service on 5 September 1960, citing as his excuse, a massacre conducted in South Kasai. At the same time, Joseph Mobutu took control of the military and began recruiting supporters. Though he dismissed Lumumba, Kasa Vubu did not have a majority within the government and fighting ensued. Mobuto saw his opportunity to successfully implement a coup and have both Lumumba and Kasa Vubu replaced. Mobuto dismissed the Soviet advisors sent to assist Lumumba and effectively sided with Kasa Vubu. Mobuto would reinstate him as president in February 1961. Lumumba on the other hand, was placed on house arrest. He managed to escape but was caught shortly thereafter and was tortured before being sent to Katanga to death. His death sparked an international outrage with demonstrations being held in New York and London. (Nzongola Ntalaja 69). On 21 November 1961, the UN took a more proactive stance during the Congo Crisis with Resolution 169. This resolution gave the UN military forces the right to use all the force necessary to maintain law and order and assist the central government of the Congo. It also vehemently rejected the Katanga government s claim of independence. By December 1962, UN troops moved into Elisabethville, occupied the city, and forced Tshombe to surrender. This effectively ended the Katanga secession crisis. The end of this secession crisis prompted an attempt at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Effects Of Air Conditioning On The United States Is the United States addicted to air conditioning? The use of air conditioning within the United States is higher than any other country As Badger has noted: We love our air conditioning in the U.S. The amenity is more common in American homes 87 percent of us have either central air or window units . This has resulted in Americans becoming addicted to air conditioning. Addiction can be caused from always being around cooled homes, offices and cars. People start to get used to feeling the cool temperatures instead of the hot weather. Before Americans realize it, living without air conditioning becomes harder. Europeans do not use as much air conditioning; instead, they decide to tough it out and deal with the hotter weather. This is important because as the world s energy is not 100% environmentally friendly, pollution will increase from the higher demand for energy. As the damage to the environment continues it could get to a point where the damage can be irreversible. Mainly the damage is being done to the protective ozone layer in the atmosphere. The ozone layer helps the earth block harmful ultraviolet rays, which can cause temperature rise and skin cancer to humans. Americans should decrease the use of air conditioning because greener methods for cooling are possible; the cool culture can be reversed, and adapting building regulations will help cool buildings differently. The cool culture of the United States is one that resulted from people getting used to air ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nike And Its Impact On Society On a daily basis a considerable amount of Americans unwind and observe their surroundings pass by, fantasizing about getting out and achieving their aspirations. Although it is common for desires, one s prosperity depends on the inducement he or she has inside. Envision an ad that can augment that incentive. One of the most iconic brand up to date, Nike, is often known for it s vast marketing campaign which pairs gifted and captivating athletes with top line, enticing goods. Throughout these scenes, Oscar determines everyone s destined achievements, This guy? He ll run a marathon. She is going to have the best swing in the state. She will totally win the city s open tournament. All of the amatuer athletes respond with self doubt and confusion, Who me? Get out?! The self doubt found in these athletes are commonly found in people who go face struggles when overcoming an activity. It also explains that not everyone is born a winner. The frail and clumsy phase ends with Oscar candidly claiming that, All of these athletes are terrible now, but they will all do big things one day . This key quote signifies the theme of perseverance. Subsequently as the ad goes on, the narrator s tone grows drastically more ecstatic. • 15. Factors That Affect The Individual s Sense Of Self Is... The main point of Baldwin et al. s theoretical analysis was to discover how an individual s sense of self is affected by many components, including personal experiences. The mental association between these two factors was proposed because self prospection and close relationships are tied to how individuals view themselves. We sometimes see ourselves as who we re with, and how they treat us translates to how we see ourselves. 2. Focus on the first study that Baldwin et al. report (that is, Study 1, not the first research article they cite). What is the hypothesis that is being tested in this study? The Hypothesis of the first study is, there is an alteration in an individual s self prospection when greeted with responses, whether it be negative or positive. 3. Summarize the design, the independent variables, and the dependent variables. When you describe the IV and DV, first tell me what they are at a psychological level (what are the experimenters trying to manipulate or measure in people s heads?), and then tell me what they are at the level of concrete operations (what exactly did the experimenters have participants do in the study what procedure did they use?). The design of the study is completing three questions, and then getting shown a response. If the response was positive it reinforced the individual s response to the questions. If the given response was negative, then the individual reconsidered their past answers. The independent variable of this study ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the amended Banking Act 1959(Cth), responsibility for the conduct of prudential supervision and depositor protection moves from the Reserve Bank to APRA. Its intention is to provide for a more consistent, competitively neutral and efficient approach to the regulation of financial institutions, while enhancing overall depositor protection and financial system stability 1. This paper will thus find out about ARPA s responsibilities related to banking in traditional sense of the term. APS 110 sets out detailed capital requirements which apply on a stand alone as well as consolidated group basic except foreign ADIs. APRA appraises the ADI s financial strength at three levels to ensure that the ADI is adequately capitalised. These are level 1 comprising ADI itself or the ELE, level 2 consolidated banking group and level 3 the conglomerate group4. Furthermore, consistent with Basel Capital Accord, the approach used by APRA for assessing an ADI s capital adequacy focuses on three main elements. The definition of capital base and eligible components are set out in APS 111 capital adequacy. A bank s risk weighted exposures are determined in accordance with requirements and procedures in APS 112 credit risk and APS 113 market risk5. Banks are required, unless APRA set higher levels, to maintain at level 1 and 2 as a minimum risk weighted capital ratio of 4 % in Tier 1 and 8% for total capital at all times. APRA assess and takes into account the general risks and other circumstances relevant for the individual ADI. A capital buffer could be added by ADI if the ADI is judged as being vulnerable more than normal volatility in its revenues and risks. • 17. Charlie Ravioli Essay Alvin Huynh Professor Cantor English 100 13 September 2012 Through Another Pair of Eyes The perception of life through someone else s eyes can alter one s appreciation toward that particular lifestyle. Culture is perceived differently depending on the type of environment in which we grow accustomed to. It can also range from the type of location in which we live in. For instance, someone living in a different state would have a different perception of the way we do things compared to their ways. In the essay Bumping into Mr. Ravioli, by Adam Gopnik, the view on life is seen differently when viewed in Gopnik s perception. Gopnik also realizes that the environment contributes to the personality of Olivia s imaginary friend. Gopnik states Why is busyness the stuff our children make their invisible friends from, as country children make theirs from light and sand? (Gopnik 156). According to Gopnik, children base their imaginary friends from the type of environment they live in. For example, since Olivia lives in New York, Her imaginary friend, Charlie Ravioli, has the personality of a busy person living in New York. However, a child living on the countryside would create an imaginary that has a personality based off that environment. These two quotes exhibit the idea of different lifestyles based off different environments. Gopnik beings to understand the busy lifestyle of people in New York and understands why Charlie Ravioli never has time to play with Olivia. He learns to appreciate this type of lifestyle and will eventually grow accustomed to it especially living in such a busy city. • 18. The Apology Of Plato s The Iliad Let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. These famous words, spoken by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in his first inaugural address, have famously resonated throughout history, and although they were said nearly 2000 years after the events of Plato s The Apology, they perfectly correspond with what is perhaps the most noteworthy moment of the Plato s text. The Apology is Plato s recounting of Socrates trial, in which he faced charges of corrupting the youth, and believing in Gods different than the Gods of the state of Athens. In the trial, Socrates makes his argument as to why he should be found innocent of all the charges placed upon him. One of the most interesting arguments that Socrates makes in his defense is comparing himself to Achilles, the great Greek warrior from Homer s The Iliad. He makes this comparison multiple times in his argument, and although it may seem like Socratic irony for the short, fat, philosopher to compare himself to a great Warrior, Socrates is completely serious in his comparison. He used a comparison between himself and Achilles as an analogy to represent his immense motivation to Philosophy. Achilles, living in an honor culture, was willing to die over what he believed was right, and Socrates was no different in that regard. After his service in war, Socrates dedicated his life to pursuing the many truths of the world. His reputation as a philosopher grew, and he soon discovered the Oracle of ... • 19. Summary Of The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas Ursula Le Guin s short story The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas is a plotless, philosophical fiction. Written in 1973, Le Guin tells the dark narrative of a fictional town which lives in peace with itself. The seemingly happy town houses a dark secret, one so dark that citizen s of the town leave to escape it. Ursula Le Guin does this by using authorial intrusion, withholding information, and encouraging her readers to think. Le Guin has written The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas in such a way that its interpretation depends on the reader and not the text. It is the reader s perspective in life and the world that shapes the image he perceives while reading this story. The citizens of Omelas are referred to as they while everyone who does not live in Omelas is referred to as we to show that they are separate from us. The author does this early in the story to show the reader that the people in Omelas are not like the reader. They are very different. Le Guin continues with this strategy when she plays with the minds of the readers by suggesting ideas into the heads of the readers then shortly afterwards she retracts these ideas. A great example of this is when she suggests there is a King who is on a stallion and surrounded by knights, but in the next line tells us that there is no King. This procedure has the reader picturing an image then later having to dismiss this image time and time again. This style is very clever because it keeps the reader interested and guessing ... • 20. Examining The Functional Connectivity Of A Whole Brain Atlas Background: The brain is often considered the most complex organ in the human body. It is also the most difficult to understand, given the vast array of different functions spread throughout its mass and the interconnected functionality of its regions that makes subdividing it based on form or function a difficult task. Craddock, et al. (2012), in the article examined, attempt to produce a method for further examining the functional connectivity (FC) of the regions of the brain and subdivide them based on spatial positioning and function. Understanding FC in the brain can significantly improve understanding of many brain functions and the effect of outside stimulus of various parts of the brain. This examination will only be able to take place by creating an accurate whole brain atlas. This creation of a whole brain atlas, or a map of the brain separating it into regions of interest (ROI) based positioning and/or function, has typically been done via fMRI analysis of the brain combined with an anatomically based mapping procedure. This study seeks to use fMRI technology combined with an algorithm to create voxel clusters or ROI s that optimize both spatial coherence and homogeneity in regards to the FC of the individual ROIs that can closely match of the results of a voxel wise analysis, while improving on computation power required and interpretability. Clinical Significance: The usefulness of this technology and methodology can be found in both neurology research ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. A Brief Note On The American Public Health Association It costs taxpayers over $2 billion dollars a year in medical charges to care for victims of firearms related injuries. The American Public Health Association (APHA) released a study at their annual meeting stating that the high figures underline the need to treat gun violence in the U.S. as a public health issue as well as a law enforcement challenge. There are massive amounts of people that get hurt each year by guns, which puts a huge burden on our healthcare system. According to the American Public Health Association, one out of every three patients hospitalized for gun injuries was uninsured. Many of these uninsured victims of gun violence will see their medical costs reduced due to President Obama s health care reform law, which offers more low income Americans access to Medicaid. Between 2000 and 2010, 275,939 individuals were victims of gunfire in the U.S., and received 1.7 million days of hospital charges which only included costs after the patient was admitted, which does not include emergency room costs. The cost for a person to be hospitalized for medical treatment due to a firearms related injury is approximately $75,884, which is about $14,000 more than that of the average hospital stay due to the severity of the injuries often involved, and approximately 31,000 die, addition to the enormous number of injuries from guns. In addition, the cost of building expensive hospital trauma units needed for this type of treatment. Some of the research findings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For ensuring and better understanding of the reservoir characteristics, these factors should be avoided from the seismic data. Seismic data are superposed and in the case of low signal to noise ratio (SNR) sometimes completely masked by noise. To prepare these seismic data for further application, processing, maximize the potential benefit, and contribution of the seismic data in exploration and development, we need to improve the SNR by attenuating noise and preserving important features of seismic data. They discovered that séance phenomena might be attributed, at least in part, to the same psychokinetic force that is commonly believed to be responsible for poltergeist (unquiet ghost) activity. They suggested that this force could be produced by the minds of the sitters, fuelled perhaps by their unanimous belief that such phenomena would occur during the séance. They theorized that the role of the medium was that of a placebo, and that no particular psychic sensitivity was necessary for a successful séance. Apart from considering all the forms of perceptional errors, we can explain the existence of such spirits that are perceived (but not always believed!) Juvenile Crime And Juvenile Justice System In Society, many are concerned about the high percentage of crimes that are committed, we tend to turn immediately to our youth thinking that if we somehow manage to keep youth under control we will deter crimes. As discuss in chapter 9 and the OJJPD reports, the juvenile justice system had determined that by waiving and transferring minors who commit crimes to criminal courts to be tried and punished like an adult, there would be a decrease on violent crimes. On the other hand, there are many intake alternatives and diversion programs that can be considered instead of crowding up the criminal courts with juveniles delinquents. Research have point out various types of studies, which makes a comparison of the effects on youth who were transferred to adult criminal court with those who were retained in juvenile justice system. In the processes, youth were matched with their age, gender, race, and prior offense history through automated data systems. By doing so, it concluded that it was more likely to see an increase recidivism in youth when they were transferred to criminal courts than to see an end of it. Therefore, placing youth in criminal court will give that young person less opportunity to regained the possibility to become a better citizen. It is clearly that placing kids in adult jails, gives them the urge to learn how to be tough and defend themselves by proving to real criminals that they can be good criminals too, making them want to reoffend when they get ... Adapted from the novel of the same name, Raoul Duke adventures through the west with his lawyer in search of the American dream. Experimental in nature, this film strays from the traditional formula of story telling. Its plot is hard to discern due to the constant intoxication of the main characters. Through the various psychedelic drugs Raoul and Dr. Gonzo consumed in the duration of this film, the audience was able to experience a bad trip alongside the characters. (we have all done this before). My favorite part about my cell phone and the applications that I am offered is the question itself; they allow me to relate a technology that everyone has some knowledge about to something that I am passionate about, the gospel. There are many apps on my cell phone that I enjoy, but only a few can keep me so entertained that I can hardly put my phone down to go to sleep at night. Usually, when I am bored, I quickly scroll through my phone to see an application that is going to satisfy me for the next 20 minutes of my life. Until, I get bored of that as well, but when it comes to the applications that are teaching me about God, I become deeply Intrigued and encouraged by what I am reminded. However, some parents have been concerned that too much technology usage may in fact interfere with children s development.
