Analysis Of The Article Whats Up With The American Dream
What does the american dream mean to you?
The American dream, to me, means having the opportunity to achieve, because I don t think you
should be guaranteed anything other than opportunity (Leny Wilkens). The Article Whats up with the
American Dream is all about how the American Dream is changing. It s transitioning from going to
school, working hard, and advancing in your career to being handed a job through the connections you
have. The thesis in this article is We go to school, study, get jobs, and work hard, all with the
assumption that doing so will allow us to achieve financial security, rise up the economic ladder, and
perhaps even achieve financial great wealth. (pg. 539) The argument in this article is describing how
everyone used to have an idea of how their life was going to be, go to school and get a well paying
job. Today the worlds way of thinking has changed. Not everyone goes to college, and not all the ones
who go to college get a well paying job. The author claims that everyone had faith in the American
Dream the land of opportunity . He uses an example of how in 1867 when Horatio Alger published a
novel about Ragged Dick, someone who works his way up from poverty to a position of respectability.
Which is what the American Dream was all about in the 1800s, working your way up the success
ladder. In the pass everyone knew the American Dream and that was the goal in life. The American
Dream was an opportunity for growth and achievement. Everyone

Importance Of Parent Relationship In Shakespeare s King Lear
The paternal relationship analysis in King Lear King Lear is one of William Shakespeare s four great
tragedies, many scholars and critics acclaimed it as his greatest work, and they also interpreted this
masterpiece from different points of view. This play illustrated Shakespeare s interpretation of parent
child relationship and the conflict between nature law and patriarchal. King Lear is a social
philosophy tragedy of Shakespeare. It does not simply describe parent child relationship, but is a
reflection of human relations and even the order of the social state. It truly reproduces the society
change in the transitional period from feudal society to capitalist system in Britain in the seventeenth
Century. Shakespeare mercilessly castigate the ingratitude anti natural behavior. He expresses the
desire for human s kindheartedness and the harmonious of the natural law. The relationship between
parents and the child should be harmonious, made of love and understanding. In the ideal family
relationship, Shakespeare emphasizes the equality between family members, and he thinks that love is
the basis for the existence of a happy and harmonious family. Also, he often regards women as the
weak, and thinks that women are easy to be tempted which is an important factor to destroy the
harmony of the family. By analyzing the ideal family relationship reflected by Shakespeare s tragedy,
this play discusses the profundity and complexity of Shakespeare s thought.

Edward stood up from the table, walked a few paces towards the exit and placed a hand on Tabitha s
shoulder. He turned and stared at the men and women seated in front of him. I must take my leave,
Edward said. I trust you all know what to do as we begin our reelection campaign, and move forward
with our plans. Until we meet again, I hope you all remain hale and hearty, hearty and hale. Everyone
around the table stood and stared straight ahead. Williams pulled himself up from his chair. He was

How is this going to advance liberty? Banks will no longer be able to loan with reckless abandon, and

The Human Imagination Is A Glorious Aspect Of Ourselves
The human imagination is a glorious aspect of ourselves that can fill up our minds with such delightful
thoughts and images. As interesting and perplexed someone s imagination can get, it can still be easily
influenced by such things like movies and television. I know from personal experience just how much
these things really play a part when creating certain fantasies or scenarios in your head. As a child,
seeing your basic stereotypical teenage movies for the first time, such as Mean Girls , really had a
huge impact on the way I shaped my imagination. I winded up creating my whole life from when I
became a teenager to my entire high school career up into many different fantasies. It was not until I
actually aged and lived such moments myself that I opened my eyes and realized that what you see in
the movies or on television is not an accurate forecast of the way your life is going to turn out. In
movies like, Mean Girls or Clueless , or shows such as Unfabulous and Gossip Girl , they portray such
ridiculous stereotypes of the way a teenager s life is, or how it s supposed to be. You see stereotypes
like jocks and cheerleaders are always the popular kids whereas nerds are always uncool, teenagers
are always having sex, going to parties, and doing drugs, and people seem to always find their soul
mates in high school and are together forever. All of these seem like they could be true, but when it
comes down to it, most are not, but yet; we still use such movies or

The Music Of Country Music
Country Music
Country music. Just saying that word ignites a train of thought to many people to think of the deep ole
American South and cowboys. What causes people to begin to imagine those things? From the
cowboys featuring in movies to the loud blaring music the hillbilly neighbor plays, country music has
brought its way to people around the world. From the 1920 s to now Country music was one of the
first genres in modern music and is still popular today in the United States. The history of country
music is so uniquely characterized that through each part of history it changes massively. Observing,
viewing, and hearing the history of country music is the only way to see how although other music
genres seem to slowly fade away country music has still stayed strong since today.
Country music was not the first name for this genre. In the 20th century when early country music was
developed it was considered hillbilly music. This hillbilly music was derived from folk songs and
popular songs from the English Scots and Irish settlers from the Appalachians and various regions in
the South. The instruments used in early country music were the fiddle, guitar, the autoharp and a few
others. The spark of country music to the public started in 1923 when country music was first
recorded. In June 14, 1923 a man with a continuing effort to discover new acts and reach untapped
markets, Ralph Peer, found John Carson, a fiddle player, who he decided to record. This started the

Proposed Merger Of Us Airways And American Airlines
INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO: CHRISTOPHER CARRIGAN, ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERAL, ANTITRUST DIVISION,
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
FROM: JULIAN HOFFMAN, ECONOMIC ANALYST
SUBJECT: PROPOSED MERGER OF US AIRWAYS AND AMERICAN AIRLINES
DATE: JULY 15, 2013 Executive Summary
This memo is in response to your request for an analysis of the economic implications of the potential
merger of US Airways Group and the AMR Corporation (parent company of American Airlines), plans
for which were announced in February of this year. While US Airways Group is currently operating
normally, AMR Corporation is under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection due to a lack of profit, putting
it in a precarious business situation. This proposed merger is AMR Corporation s proposed path out of
bankruptcy, and one which both airlines claim could result in more than $1.5 billion in additional
revenues and cost savings on an annual basis. (Wall Street Journal, 2012)
This proposed merger would create the largest airline in the United States by market share, with a
combined 21.2% of the domestic market using pre merger market share levels (see Figure 1). The
proposed merger would also bring the total number of major domestic airlines down to four: Delta,
United, Southwest and the proposed new airline. These major domestic carriers would combine to
control roughly 69% of the market, a dominant position.
Any thorough economic analysis of the proposed merger has to focus in on this critical issue: the risk
of having too few

Garrett F. (1999), is a case presented to argue that Debbie Young s decision to refuse Jonathan to
attend one of the schools in the district is wrong. In the case of Cedar Rapids Independent School
District v. Garrett F. (1999), Garrett is a student who is quadriplegic and is ventilator dependent,
therefore, he requires an individual nearby to attend to certain physical needs while he is in school.
His parents provided nursing services at school until he entered fifth grade. They then requested that
the school district to provide the services. The school district declined. The parents filed a suit against
the school district. In the end, the court agreed with the parents. It was granted that nursing services
were not related services, instead excluded medical services. Meaning that the student needed these
services to attend school. This case would help Jonathan s parents to prove that Mrs. Youngs refusal of
Jonathan was not right. Students with special needs have rights and protections under IDEA which
means that there must be some services provided to for them if its needed for them to attend school. In

Weldon s collection also included a young talented poet named Langston Hughes. Hughes had a love
for music, mainly the blues, which became a bridge between African American Literature and Folk

Zora Neale Hurston, an anthropologist originally born in Florida, wrote the literary magazine Fire!
Although it lasted only one issue because of financial difficulties, Hughes, publisher Wallace

1937, still keeping with the themes of strong black characters.
Music was another art form found in the Harlem Renaissance. It became the background, inspiration,

One of the greatest jazz singers of this time was Bessie Smith. She was a southerner and her

Representative Democracy As A Representative Democracy
The United States of America is considered to be the most prominent example of a democracy, as it
was the first modern state to elect a president as the head of the state. Yet, more accurately, the U.S. is
a democratic republic, where the citizens who are entitled to vote have the power to elect
representatives in various branches of the government to rule. Such form of democracy, where the
people elect (directly or indirectly) representatives to rule is a representative democracy, and although
its name suggests it to be, representative democracy is significantly different than a true democracy.
The word democracy is derived from the Latin words demos and kratia . Demos signifies people or
the masses, while kratia signifies rule or government . Therefore, democracy signifies a society where
the citizens ultimately rule themselves and the nation. On the other hand, a representative democracy
signifies a society where the representatives hold offices of power in order to rule. For a society to be
truly a democratic one, ultimately, the people need to rule. So in order to determine whether a
representative democracy is a true democracy, one needs to determine whether the people ultimately
have the power to rule the state in the representative democracy.
In representative democracies in the current world, citizens elect candidates to offices, such as the
U.S. Congress or the British Parliament. Citizens may also elect the president or the prime minister to

The American Education System Education
American Education System
Education plays important role in society. It determines the final development of an adult s
personality. In today s society most jobs require a University degree. To receive a University degree
students need to rely on a good education system. Does America provide this? The American
education system has relied on the grade point average system for a long time. The problem with this
is there is not a universal GPA grade point system varying from course to course. This creates an
inaccurate way to determine ones overall achievements. Teachers have different standards than others,
grade inflation can occur and students can be exposed to different learning environments. Does the
education system need to change to create fairness?
The American education system has not changed drastically since the 1900s. In the early 1900 s before
grading, teachers were expected to communicate in depth to their students on how they were doing in
the class. This worked well for small groups and individual tutoring. The ability for this information to
be passed on to those who were not involved with the learning process, such as employers and parents
was limited. By the mid 20th century schools changed drastically as they introduced grades in the
form of letters. The American schools now became more standardized as A, B, C, D and F represented
ones grade. Depending what percentage a student received determined letter they got. An example is
an A is a mark of 90 100%

Recent advances in comprehending the fundamental pathobiology of gastrointestinal mucositis

The Impact Of Martin Luther Spread Of Protestantism
Luther s spread of Protestantism primarily brought disunity to not only the Holy Roman Empire, but
also to England. The Catholic Church had recently just built the St. Peter s Cathedral and started to
sell indulgences to make more money off of the people. Martin Luther, a monk, was against the
Catholic Church and their teachings and indulgences were the last straw. He believed that all a person
needs to reach heaven is faith. Luther set out preaching his words opposing and questioning the church
and their faulty beliefs. People listened and followed him full of trust and faith. However, this caused
the Reformation and the beginning of a new religion. The spread of Protestantism among Europe
brought impactful periods of disunity within the Holy Roman Empire and England, yet unlike the
Holy Roman Empire, England was unified in the end. The entire reformation brought more disunity
than unity from the beginning in the Holy Roman Empire (Germany) after Martin Luther s
Reformation. It started with Luther s Ninety Five Theses in 1517, which was sparked by the Catholic
church selling indulgences and spreading false ideas. Within his theses, he called out the church for
their wrong teachings and corrupt clergy. His words, actions, and opinions inspired people and gave
them a new hope, faith, and religion. He caused a divide within the Holy Roman Empire and was the
main source of protestantism. Martin Luther provoked even more division when he said, A Christian

Analysis Of Black Hair By Gary Soto
Black Hair by Gary Soto is a three stanza, free verse poem that observes the life of a young Mexican
boy and his admiration for Hector Moreno, a Mexican baseball figure. The speaker is immediately
identified as the young boy as he starts to reminisce about when he was eight years old. The boy goes
on to talk about how he thought of himself at this age, as well as Hector and his parents. He would
watch the baseball games and look up to Hector, copying him, and addressing how this win for Hector
would be a win for him and all the brown people . The audience isn t addressed as a literal part of the
poem, so we can imagine it from a bird s eye point of view. The poem takes place within the mind of
the former boy, reflecting on his time among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So how might the author demonstrate his piece and how do these tools affect the way in which we
understand his overall message? To follow, I will explore the ways in which the author chose to
deliver his message and which tools make this successful from the audience s perspective. An
immediate choice I notice from the author is his selective diction. Soto uses a lot of strong diction like
dirty, torch, terror, flared, and twisting, but none captivate the character as well as when he uses the
word brilliant . When Soto uses the word brilliant in stanza one and three, he does not mean to say
intelligent or excellent. Instead, Soto uses this word to mean something more with a literal and
physical meaning, like how he states towards the end of the poem, In the bleachers I was brilliant with
my body/Waving players in and stomping my feet (Soto 21 22), connecting it to the body and its
actions. This brings the character alive and gives the boy a feeling of acceptance and power,
connecting him with the community and success he was becoming a part of. Soto s diction led me to
notice the radiance this word gave the boy, which exposed the theme of lightness and darkness,
symbolizing the child s journey through hope. The

The Stern Concert Essay
The enriching experience of listening to live music has been a pleasurable pastime for many
individuals since the creation of music itself. The ability for musicians to provoke profound emotions
in others is a form of social communication that is unmatched by any other type of human connection
which allowed music to retain its popularity throughout history. Without an artistic mode of
expression for humans to communicate what can t be directly spoken, life becomes dull and devoid of
emotion where the only clear method left of expression is through verbal and linguistic
communication. Music, in general, acts as a unifying intermediate where both the historical tales of

of the Stern auditorium was based on an Italian renaissance revival where the utilization of absorptive

brought from their countries original folk instruments such as the Gayageum, a Korean zither like
string instrument and the guzheng, a Chinese plucked string instrument with 21 string which added to
the authenticity of the performance. Only those who performed traditional folk songs were wearing
customary Hanboks which are colorful, long dresses primarily used during formal events while the
rest of the performers wore formal black tie. From the opera Rusalka, the piece Song to the Moon was

first is creating and documenting proper policies and procedures to implement once the disaster
recovery plan is implemented. The second is creating an executive summary of the DR plan that will
outline the overall plan. The last key step is identifying teams and individuals that will be part of and
responsible for the disaster recovery plan and process.
The DR team member will be on call and will be issued a company device. In addition, the DR team
members are expected to have contact information of all team members and other identified personnel.

Mahabharata Summary
Adi Parva, First Book: The Origins of the Families
The story opens as Sauti, a storyteller returning from the snake sacrifice of King Janamejaya,
approaches several wise men, or rishis, in the forest of Naimisha. He relates to them the Mahabharata
as he has heard it from Vaisampayana, a disciple of the poet Vyasa. Sauti begins by recounting the
death of King Parikshit of the Bharatas at the hands of Takshaka, aNaga, or snake man. King
Janamejaya, Parikshit s son and successor, had held the snake sacrifice in order to avenge the death of
his father, but the ceremony was stopped by the intervention of the learned Naga, Astika. Sauti then
recounts the origins of the Bharatas (also known as the Kurus), a race descended from the great King

Washington Square Allegory Analysis
Washington Square as an Allegory of the Cruel Consequences of the Excesses of Rationalism
It is common to find literary critics and scholars underlining Henry James dislike of allegory. The
following section of James book, Hawthorne, is often quoted as evidence of this:
I frankly confess that I have as a general thing but little enjoyment of it [allegory] and that it has never
seemed to me to be, as it were, a first rate literary form...it is apt to spoil two good things a story and a
moral; a meaning and a form.... (Hawthorne 23)
It is based on this quote that Joan Bennett claims that it would be wrong to read the works of James as
allegory (16). But Bennett is wrong. Washington Square has many concrete features of narrative
allegory. As an allegory, it is an explicit warning about he evil consequences of the excesses
rationalistic worldviews, especially when the latter include the belittling of all that is not rational. Dr.
Sloper, is the literal personification of those excesses.
I
There are various reasons why James may have experimented with allegory and its narrative forms in
Washington Square. The first is that the general claim that James hated allegory is an incomplete
reading of what James wrote about it in Hawthorne. In the lines that immediately follow the text
quoted above, he adds: The only cases in which it is endurable is when it is extremely spontaneous,
when the analogy presents itself with eager promptitude (23), and Hawthorne, he notes, uses allegory

The French Revolution And Neo Classical Era
Lumières
Show Title
The 18th century was a time for human knowledge to thrive, as well as the challenging of long held
dogmatic practices; this meant much change for both the commoner as well as the nobility. Lumières
is the title of our exhibition, which translates to Enlightenment in French, which we found to be most
appropriate for this era. This show title would instantly grab the audience s attention as it effectively
communicates the meaning behind the exhibit. The enlightenment was among many movements that
contributed to the progressiveness of the 1700 s during the French Revolution and Neo Classical era,
but none had nearly the impact that the Enlightenment era did for society in this time.

However, it is not until the 1760 s that the stagnation of fashion and its evolutionary pace shifts from a
gradual change to rapid progression (Payne, Winakor Farell Beck, 1992).
Our goal is to study more specifically the Neoclassical era, because this period in France gave a newly
and creative sense of style in both the arts and architecture that was very similar to those in ancient
Rome and Greece (Craske, 1997). During this conflict it caused people to recognize social status and
freedom of dress. This revolt caused civilians mainly middle class to rebel for equality and freedom
among their society (Mezler, 1998). Furthermore, our group will analyze this decline of the pompous
nobility as France is experiencing the onset of a revolution. Following this shift is the ultimate demise
of formal aristocracy, the once cynosure of all eyes has met their fate at the guillotine. A guillotine,
meant to symbolize the Reign of Terror nearing the end of the eighteenth century would perhaps be a
fitting and symbolic final piece to the exhibition.
International Location In addition to Dallas, the exhibition will also be held in Versailles, France.
As stated in Blum s introduction for the book Illusion and Reality: Fashion in France 1700 1900

structured court Louis XIV had created here. Another reason to have the exhibit here would be

A Report On Ficer Corps
GySgt Daniel Daly once said, Any officer can get by on his sergeants. To be a sergeant you have to
know your stuff. I d rather be an outstanding sergeant that just another officer. Imagining and Marine
Corps without any NCOs is to imagine a Marine Corps that doesn t exist. There would be no boot
camp because there would be no drill instructors. There would be no outstanding specialists to
transform into warrant officers; aircraft, weapons and trucks would rust and break down never to be
repaired and finally and most importantly there would be no accountability. Noncommissioned
officers are as old as war itself. In the seventh century the smallest tactical unit in the Roman legion
was commanded by a centurion who is akin to a gunnery sergeant. The condottieri, or mercenaries, we
professionals who served under any state that would pay and feed them; in their companies the ranks
of corporal and sergeant were born. In 1778, Baron von Steuben wrote the main purpose of the
noncommissioned officer corps is to decentralize command authority in an orderly fashion down to
the smallest element in an organization. In other words, NCOs exist to teach Marines, execute orders,
take care of people and cushion the contact with officers. On becoming an NCO we receive a
certificate of appointment; often referred to as a warrant. This document is the basis of our authority,

Analysis Of Anita Desai s Fasting Feasting
In literature the image of women in fiction has undergone a change during the last four decades.
Women writers have considerably moved away from traditional portrayals of enduring self sacrificing
women, towards conflicts, female characters searching for identity, no longer characterized simply in
terms of their victimized status. One such prominent Indian author, whose writing addresses issues
focusing on the condition of women in India, is Anita Desai. Desai s novels chiefly center around the
representations of women and their struggles against patriarchal and colonial oppression. Her novel
Fasting Feasting (2000) is above all a work which delineates the psychic entrapment of women in a
oppressive environment. Though India attained independence from colonial rule it failed to unburden
women from the ideal visions of womanhood. Advancement of learning and modernization have made
little impact on the internal psyche and attitude of the society towards women specially in context of
India. This paper attempts to critically examine Anita Desai s outlook and standpoint on the socio
cultural issues of patriarchal oppression, ideological conditioning, female freedom and empowerment
with special reference to her novel Fasting Feasting. The paper brings into focus the interaction of
women s traumatic experiences, the psychological plight of the female characters, and the state of
their oppression in a male dominated patriarchal framework. At the same time the paper also attempts

The Gangs in los Angeles California
Executive Summary Security has always been of major concern in many institutions across the world.
This is perhaps because the success of many activities is highly dependent on the security that they
associate themselves with. This report focuses on the gangs in Los Angeles, California. This task in
this region has been mandated upon the Los Angeles Police Department, popularly referred to as the
LAPD. The major stakeholders are the competent and highly qualified staff members within the
department who have the necessary capacity to deal with the violent criminal gangs. The main
problem that is targeted is the eradication of the criminal gangs within the region. This is through the
elimination of illegal firearms, elimination of drive by shootings and enactment of anti graffiti laws
which promote the gang activities. The graffiti have been shown by recent research to portray the gang
territories.
Societal Problems Of great concern is the revelation that up to 37% of households possess firearms,
whether licensed or not. The California Street Terrorism Enforcement and Prevention (STEP) Act is
aimed at eliminating criminal gang conduct by focusing upon patterns of criminal gang activity and
the organized nature of street gangs. The Penal Code provides that:
1. Participation in a criminal street gang with knowledge that its members engage in criminal activity
is punishable as either a misdemeanor or felony.
2. Conviction for a crime or public offense which was committed

The And The Doctrine Of Salvation
Soteriology or the Doctrine of Salvation is perhaps the grandest and greatest them in Scripture. If we
look at our world it s easy to see man s condition in sin. Mankind is completely helpless when the
message of salvation is ignored. Our world remains shattered and town by the condition of sin, but
God s gracious rescue plan through salvation and Jesus Christ will redeem us all and provide a
solution to man s problems. () This union with Christ is called the magical exchange in which Christ
assumes our debts and we inherit his wealth so that nothing (Horton pg.271) will be able to separate us
from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Ro 8:39) (Horton pg. 323 324) Let s visit the different
layers of salvation.
In our textbook, Horton starts with the blessing of Justification. God justifies the wicked. Justification
is a legal act, wherein God deems the sinner righteous on the basis of Christ s righteousness. Horton
tells us on pg. 280, God justifies the wicked not those who have done their best yet have fallen short,
those who might at least be judged acceptable because of the sincerity, but those who, at the very
moment of being pronounced righteous, are in themselves unrighteous. This means full repentance,
which is defined as such, as a change of mind, or a conversion from sin to God. And the
relinquishment of any practice from the conviction that has offended God. When we accept salvation
we are also testifying to God that we are a changed person from

Roman Arch Essay
During the Roman Empire, the original arch was redesigned to be strong and support large structures.
In the original arch, various rectangle shaped bricks were haphazardly stacked on each other with
hopes of at most supporting a small room. However, the redesigned arch used precisely measured
polyhedrons and trapezoidal prisms in a specific way to support each other. This developed arch led to
the creation of larger builders, aqueducts, and tunnels. Many empires proceeding the Romans adapted
this design to fit their specific and different needs, and arches are still used today. Therefore, using
basic geometric shapes, the people in the Roman Empire revolutionized the arch forever. The Roman
Empire did not create the arch in 23 CE (Ambler). However, they adapted it from a weak arch that
could barely support a small building. Before the Roman Empire, the original arch design was
corbeled with congruent rectangular prisms. A corbeled arch is an arch where stones are laid so they
move toward the center as they move higher (Ambler). Each rectangular prism has the properties of
parallelograms, which are that opposite sides are congruent, and diagonals bisect each other, as well as
all angles in the rectangle, are right angles, and the diagonals are congruent. The congruent ... Show

Ethics in Nursing: Regarding the Importance of Patient Priority In order to create a morally and
ethically sound practice and health care environment for every patient, the nurse s decision making
role is vital and should be treated as such. The nurse s professional morals and ethics should always be

Other errors like this will continue to happen in situations of wrongful ethically based decision making
if the error process is not ceased. Once again, for a nurse to be able to weigh the outside forces that
influence decisions and ethically measure their value patient priority must be applied. In expansion of
patient priority, a nurse should practice this idea by specifically practicing good communication skills
to everyone involved in the patients care at all times. This includes effectively communicating with
the patient, the patient s family, other nurses, and the physician in charge of their care. By doing so,
one is best performing patient advocacy and avoiding error. Also, the nurse should be aware of the
care team s actions and how they affect the patient and be willing to speak up when a mistake may be
occurring. Such as, if a doctor writes a wrong prescription or if a nurse doesn t correctly assess vitals,
it is important for that nurse to appropriately advise her team members of their actions when it
involves the patient. While evaluating personal beliefs and values, one must understand how this is
incorporated into ethics of nursing. According to Mendes (2015), Ethical dilemmas are not uncommon
in health care. Awareness of personal beliefs, how they affect work situations and how they may
potentially affect the way a nurse views a patient, or the patient s condition and care, is

The Farmer s Dilemma Book Report
B. The detective is in this story was a smart ,teenage, girl, Deila. One of five words that I would
describe her would be... Curious She is always looking for adventure and mystery. She is the oldest
and always trying new things so her little sister can learn from her mistakes. One example in the text
my exploration had two main objects: one, to see more of the building, because ( creepily or not ) it
was by the far most impressive thing I ever being able to claim as my own, and that provoked and me
burning curiosity to see every nook and cranny. Stubborn Deila is stubborn because she can be hard to
deal with, since she is a typical teenage girl who cannot go anywhere without cell service. Deila fights
with her parents a lot and actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then thunder had struck,so loud that my ears went momentarily numb. It came in rolls, constantly and
defeating, rumbling all the way into the center of my chest. I stepped away from the window. I started
to have the odd feeling that this was, on level, weirdly personal. No Deila it s just a storm. An act of
nature. But the room around me grew darker. And it wasn t the kind of darkness that comes with the
nightfall. Something caught my eye at the seam where the ceiling and wall met above the window. A
dark oily looking fog crawled along the plaster, winding its way down the vines of the wallpaper as if
it were the part of the design. Slowly, I turned around. A pulsing layer of black smoke filled the room.
I lost myself watching it slide down towards me. , as the smoke descend the walls, its movement
hypnotizing. It seemed to breathe, somehow pausing with each inhale, going faster with each
exhale...... I lost myself in watching it slide down towards me. Then I became vaguely aware of the
horrible creaking noise, like a building was going to collapse. Thumping Footsteps in the hall outside.

How Did Alexander The Great Influence Rome
King Philip ruled ancient Greece from 359 BC right up to his death in 336 BC. After his demise, his
son, Alexander, took up his fathers mantle and continued his work as a ruler. Thus began the reign of
one of the greatest rulers in human history, Alexander the Great, who ruled almost all of the
Mediterranean. Alexander s empire strectched from Greece to India, spreading Greek ideas throughout
and many cities were named after the great ruler. Alexander s reign only lasted 13 years, but his
impact has left a mark on human history as many cities throughout Asia, Africa, and Europe still bare
his name and the fact that his death triggered the start of a new era. Alexander the Great ruled during
an era known as the Classical Era, which greatly influenced the Roman empire, this era ... Show more

The Hellenistic era ended in the year 31 B.C. with the battle of Actium, it was the final battle between
Octavian s army and Cleopatra s army. The Roman s not only conquered Italy, but it also had power
over the entire coast of the Adriatic sea and much like Alexander the Great, they were looking to
expand throughout the continent of Europe and seeked to conquer beyond Europe. After the battle of
Actium, the entire Hellenic world was under Rome s control and Greece was controlled by various
rulers until it s independence in the 19th century. The new Roman era was one that will change the
world forever with many wars and battles that shaped our history and of course, the birth and death of
Jesus Christ thus beginning a new world religion, Christianity. Now, every era in human history has
given us something that has shaped our contemporary world, the Hellenistic era gave us the modern
library, but an era is named and timed not by the people living through it, but the historians who study
it centuries later. So where did the Hellenistic era get it s name and where did it come

How Does George Orwell Use Propaganda In Animal Farm
Animal Farm, by George Orwell, is an allegoric novel based on the history of the Soviet Union and
the Russian Revolution (1917 to 1944) disguised as an animal fable. Orwell draws his audience into a
utopian, metaphorical history novel through his animal characters. Squealer represents intelligence
and education; Napoleon represents propaganda and duplicity; The dogs to represent violence and
terror as a means of control; and finally Boxer represents apathy and acceptance. Throughout each of
the characters stories, there are themes of the Soviet Union intertwined. The pigs represents
intelligence and education, particularly Squealer as he is able to manipulate others and control
information. The use of intelligence and education is a tool ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

THE MERGER OF AIRTRAN BY SOUTHWEST AIRLINES:WILL THE ORGANIZATIONAL
CULTURES MERGE?
Southwest s merger with AirTran, valued at over US$3 billion, makes Southwest the fourth largest
American carrier. The merger increases Southwest s presence in a number of major cities, most
notably New York (LaGuardia) and Washington D.C. (Ronald Reagan National Airport). Thanks to
AirTran, it now flies into the coveted Atlanta s Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International, the world s
busiest airport, along with a number of international vacation destinations such as Aruba,
Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. Southwest has grown organically, acquiring only two other smaller
carriers Morris Air and Muse Air in the 1980s. This has made it easier to maintain its ... Show more

. . This is a very different approach, taking thousands of AirTran employees, dumping them into the
system and hoping it works. It s a pretty risky move, says Peter Capelli, a Wharton management
professor in 2010. Cappelli adds that airline mergers are always difficult because integration has to
take place while a carrier continues to carry out complex operations. Thousands of employees can t
easily be put through an orientation program in the merger s short time frame and the information
systems supporting the complex operations of two airlines can t be easily changed.23 In November
2011, Southwest Airlines more than 6,000 pilots and AirTran Airways 1,700 pilots overwhelmingly
approved a plan to combine the seniority lists of the two carriers, with five out of six pilots voting in
favor.24 The personnel systems have to be modified to reflect the new seniority and pay systems. The
disparate cultures of Southwest and AirTran are also posing problems for the merger of their online
reservation systems. Southwest currently is planning to switch from Sabre or Amadeus to better
accommodate merchandising and international flights. AirTran s reservations system vendor is
Navitaire.25 AirTran and Southwest have diametrically opposed views on distribution through online
travel agencies. Southwest usually sells its tickets via telephone or through its Web site whereas
AirTran prefers online reservation systems such as Orbitz and

Political Tensions Between The Islamic 30 Years War
As they struggle to understand the different dimensions of the geo political tensions between the
Islamic republic of Iran and Sunni Saudi Arabia a rivalry that has some sectarian elements to it,
western security experts often resort to use of such terms like Islam s ancient blood feud and the
Islamic 30 years war . Useful though those terms may be and understandable as they are when the
Middle East is viewed with a western lense, they fail to accurately capture the ground reality. The
shiat ali, or party of Ali split off from mainstream Islam after the tragic (to all sects) battle of Karbala
in 660 AD to form a distinct sect within the Islamic religion ( Richard 1995, page 2). In the first
millennia of Islamic history, Shia dynasties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Delong Bas 2004, page 23). Lastly, the states erected by the Western powers on the ruins of the
Ottoman empire in the Middle East, such as Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon have gone through a period of
weakening due to the Arab spring and other recent events. In the power struggle that has ensued in
those countries, Iran and Saudi Arabia are currently involved in a power struggle, in cahoots with their
proxies, for regional supremacy. The modern processes of state formation and rise of nationalism (
Halliday, page 26) are the main forces driving animosity between Islamic republic of Iran and sunni
Saudi Arabia. National leaders often resort to narratives and myths to rouse nationalist sentiment when
they realise the need to rationalize their legitimacy in the state building process. When the regimes try
to position themselves as saviours of particular brand of a religion, an explosive element is added to
the narrative which can heighten geo political tensions ( Halliday 2000, page 29).
During the late 18th century, the Al Saud family, which ruled a remote kingdom of the Arabian
peninsula came into an agreement with Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab. As part of their alliance, the
Al Saud family agreed to be the patron and military spearhead of Wahhabism ( Delong Bas, 2004,
page 27). Thus formed a

Yield Line Theory Is A Productive Method For Deciding The...
Yield line theory is a productive method for deciding the breakdown heap of strengthened concrete
slabs. The yield line hypothesis is an adaptable outline strategy, particularly when orthotropic and
inhomogeneous properties, gaps and unique bolster conditions, must be considered. In the 1960s yield
line hypothesis was the subject of extensive enthusiasm for the UK, as prove by a whirlwind of papers
and monographs, including an uncommon distribution issued by Magazine of Concrete Research. In
the event that the tomahawks of turn for two slab parts are not at the same profundity measured from
the section surface, the relative relocation intermittence is no more opposite to the yield line. One
disputable and minimal comprehended part of Johansen s yield line hypothesis is the idea of nodal
forces. It uses Yield Line Theory to investigate failure mechanisms at the ultimate limit state. Thus,
work done in yield lines rotating means work done in loads moving. Yield Line Design leads to slabs
that are quick and easy to design, and are quick and easy to construct.
Key words: Yield line, design, slab, concrete structures.
Introduction:
Yield line theory is a productive method for deciding the breakdown heap of strengthened concrete
slabs, and it pre dates limit examination. The term yield line (in Danish: brudlinie , truly signifying
line of crack ) was authored in 1921 by Ingerslev to depict lines in the slabs along which the twisting
minute is steady [1]. In 1931 K W

  • 2. Analysis Of The Article Whats Up With The American Dream What does the american dream mean to you? The American dream, to me, means having the opportunity to achieve, because I don t think you should be guaranteed anything other than opportunity (Leny Wilkens). The Article Whats up with the American Dream is all about how the American Dream is changing. It s transitioning from going to school, working hard, and advancing in your career to being handed a job through the connections you have. The thesis in this article is We go to school, study, get jobs, and work hard, all with the assumption that doing so will allow us to achieve financial security, rise up the economic ladder, and perhaps even achieve financial great wealth. (pg. 539) The argument in this article is describing how everyone used to have an idea of how their life was going to be, go to school and get a well paying job. Today the worlds way of thinking has changed. Not everyone goes to college, and not all the ones who go to college get a well paying job. The author claims that everyone had faith in the American Dream the land of opportunity . He uses an example of how in 1867 when Horatio Alger published a novel about Ragged Dick, someone who works his way up from poverty to a position of respectability. Which is what the American Dream was all about in the 1800s, working your way up the success ladder. In the pass everyone knew the American Dream and that was the goal in life. The American Dream was an opportunity for growth and achievement. Everyone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Importance Of Parent Relationship In Shakespeare s King Lear The paternal relationship analysis in King Lear King Lear is one of William Shakespeare s four great tragedies, many scholars and critics acclaimed it as his greatest work, and they also interpreted this masterpiece from different points of view. This play illustrated Shakespeare s interpretation of parent child relationship and the conflict between nature law and patriarchal. King Lear is a social philosophy tragedy of Shakespeare. It does not simply describe parent child relationship, but is a reflection of human relations and even the order of the social state. It truly reproduces the society change in the transitional period from feudal society to capitalist system in Britain in the seventeenth Century. Shakespeare mercilessly castigate the ingratitude anti natural behavior. He expresses the desire for human s kindheartedness and the harmonious of the natural law. The relationship between parents and the child should be harmonious, made of love and understanding. In the ideal family relationship, Shakespeare emphasizes the equality between family members, and he thinks that love is the basis for the existence of a happy and harmonious family. Also, he often regards women as the weak, and thinks that women are easy to be tempted which is an important factor to destroy the harmony of the family. By analyzing the ideal family relationship reflected by Shakespeare s tragedy, this play discusses the profundity and complexity of Shakespeare s thought. King Lear start of the ... • 7. The Human Imagination Is A Glorious Aspect Of Ourselves The human imagination is a glorious aspect of ourselves that can fill up our minds with such delightful thoughts and images. As interesting and perplexed someone s imagination can get, it can still be easily influenced by such things like movies and television. I know from personal experience just how much these things really play a part when creating certain fantasies or scenarios in your head. As a child, seeing your basic stereotypical teenage movies for the first time, such as Mean Girls , really had a huge impact on the way I shaped my imagination. I winded up creating my whole life from when I became a teenager to my entire high school career up into many different fantasies. It was not until I actually aged and lived such moments myself that I opened my eyes and realized that what you see in the movies or on television is not an accurate forecast of the way your life is going to turn out. In movies like, Mean Girls or Clueless , or shows such as Unfabulous and Gossip Girl , they portray such ridiculous stereotypes of the way a teenager s life is, or how it s supposed to be. You see stereotypes like jocks and cheerleaders are always the popular kids whereas nerds are always uncool, teenagers are always having sex, going to parties, and doing drugs, and people seem to always find their soul mates in high school and are together forever. All of these seem like they could be true, but when it comes down to it, most are not, but yet; we still use such movies or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What causes people to begin to imagine those things? From the cowboys featuring in movies to the loud blaring music the hillbilly neighbor plays, country music has brought its way to people around the world. From the 1920 s to now Country music was one of the first genres in modern music and is still popular today in the United States. The history of country music is so uniquely characterized that through each part of history it changes massively. Observing, viewing, and hearing the history of country music is the only way to see how although other music genres seem to slowly fade away country music has still stayed strong since today. Country music was not the first name for this genre. In the 20th century when early country music was developed it was considered hillbilly music. This hillbilly music was derived from folk songs and popular songs from the English Scots and Irish settlers from the Appalachians and various regions in the South. The instruments used in early country music were the fiddle, guitar, the autoharp and a few others. The spark of country music to the public started in 1923 when country music was first recorded. In June 14, 1923 a man with a continuing effort to discover new acts and reach untapped markets, Ralph Peer, found John Carson, a fiddle player, who he decided to record. This started the ... While US Airways Group is currently operating normally, AMR Corporation is under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection due to a lack of profit, putting it in a precarious business situation. This proposed merger is AMR Corporation s proposed path out of bankruptcy, and one which both airlines claim could result in more than $1.5 billion in additional revenues and cost savings on an annual basis. (Wall Street Journal, 2012) This proposed merger would create the largest airline in the United States by market share, with a combined 21.2% of the domestic market using pre merger market share levels (see Figure 1). The proposed merger would also bring the total number of major domestic airlines down to four: Delta, United, Southwest and the proposed new airline. These major domestic carriers would combine to control roughly 69% of the market, a dominant position. Any thorough economic analysis of the proposed merger has to focus in on this critical issue: the risk of having too few ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Representative Democracy As A Representative Democracy The United States of America is considered to be the most prominent example of a democracy, as it was the first modern state to elect a president as the head of the state. Yet, more accurately, the U.S. is a democratic republic, where the citizens who are entitled to vote have the power to elect representatives in various branches of the government to rule. Such form of democracy, where the people elect (directly or indirectly) representatives to rule is a representative democracy, and although its name suggests it to be, representative democracy is significantly different than a true democracy. The word democracy is derived from the Latin words demos and kratia . Demos signifies people or the masses, while kratia signifies rule or government . Therefore, democracy signifies a society where the citizens ultimately rule themselves and the nation. On the other hand, a representative democracy signifies a society where the representatives hold offices of power in order to rule. For a society to be truly a democratic one, ultimately, the people need to rule. So in order to determine whether a representative democracy is a true democracy, one needs to determine whether the people ultimately have the power to rule the state in the representative democracy. • 19. The American Education System Education American Education System Education plays important role in society. It determines the final development of an adult s personality. In today s society most jobs require a University degree. To receive a University degree students need to rely on a good education system. Does America provide this? The American education system has relied on the grade point average system for a long time. The problem with this is there is not a universal GPA grade point system varying from course to course. This creates an inaccurate way to determine ones overall achievements. Teachers have different standards than others, grade inflation can occur and students can be exposed to different learning environments. Does the education system need to change to create fairness? The American education system has not changed drastically since the 1900s. In the early 1900 s before grading, teachers were expected to communicate in depth to their students on how they were doing in the class. This worked well for small groups and individual tutoring. The ability for this information to be passed on to those who were not involved with the learning process, such as employers and parents was limited. By the mid 20th century schools changed drastically as they introduced grades in the form of letters. The American schools now became more standardized as A, B, C, D and F represented ones grade. Depending what percentage a student received determined letter they got. An example is an A is a mark of 90 100% ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Catholic Church had recently just built the St. Peter s Cathedral and started to sell indulgences to make more money off of the people. Martin Luther, a monk, was against the Catholic Church and their teachings and indulgences were the last straw. He believed that all a person needs to reach heaven is faith. Luther set out preaching his words opposing and questioning the church and their faulty beliefs. People listened and followed him full of trust and faith. However, this caused the Reformation and the beginning of a new religion. The spread of Protestantism among Europe brought impactful periods of disunity within the Holy Roman Empire and England, yet unlike the Holy Roman Empire, England was unified in the end. The entire reformation brought more disunity than unity from the beginning in the Holy Roman Empire (Germany) after Martin Luther s Reformation. It started with Luther s Ninety Five Theses in 1517, which was sparked by the Catholic church selling indulgences and spreading false ideas. Within his theses, he called out the church for their wrong teachings and corrupt clergy. His words, actions, and opinions inspired people and gave them a new hope, faith, and religion. The boy goes on to talk about how he thought of himself at this age, as well as Hector and his parents. To follow, I will explore the ways in which the author chose to deliver his message and which tools make this successful from the audience s perspective. An immediate choice I notice from the author is his selective diction. Soto uses a lot of strong diction like dirty, torch, terror, flared, and twisting, but none captivate the character as well as when he uses the word brilliant . When Soto uses the word brilliant in stanza one and three, he does not mean to say intelligent or excellent. Instead, Soto uses this word to mean something more with a literal and physical meaning, like how he states towards the end of the poem, In the bleachers I was brilliant with my body/Waving players in and stomping my feet (Soto 21 22), connecting it to the body and its actions. This brings the character alive and gives the boy a feeling of acceptance and power, connecting him with the community and success he was becoming a part of. Soto s diction led me to notice the radiance this word gave the boy, which exposed the theme of lightness and darkness, symbolizing the child s journey through hope. The ... Mahabharata Summary Adi Parva, First Book: The Origins of the Families The story opens as Sauti, a storyteller returning from the snake sacrifice of King Janamejaya, approaches several wise men, or rishis, in the forest of Naimisha. He relates to them the Mahabharata as he has heard it from Vaisampayana, a disciple of the poet Vyasa. • 28. Washington Square Allegory Analysis Washington Square as an Allegory of the Cruel Consequences of the Excesses of Rationalism It is common to find literary critics and scholars underlining Henry James dislike of allegory. The following section of James book, Hawthorne, is often quoted as evidence of this: I frankly confess that I have as a general thing but little enjoyment of it [allegory] and that it has never seemed to me to be, as it were, a first rate literary form...it is apt to spoil two good things a story and a moral; a meaning and a form.... (Hawthorne 23) It is based on this quote that Joan Bennett claims that it would be wrong to read the works of James as allegory (16). But Bennett is wrong. Washington Square has many concrete features of narrative allegory. As an allegory, it is an explicit warning about he evil consequences of the excesses rationalistic worldviews, especially when the latter include the belittling of all that is not rational. Dr. Sloper, is the literal personification of those excesses. I There are various reasons why James may have experimented with allegory and its narrative forms in Washington Square. The first is that the general claim that James hated allegory is an incomplete reading of what James wrote about it in Hawthorne. In the lines that immediately follow the text quoted above, he adds: The only cases in which it is endurable is when it is extremely spontaneous, when the analogy presents itself with eager promptitude (23), and Hawthorne, he notes, uses allegory ... However, it is not until the 1760 s that the stagnation of fashion and its evolutionary pace shifts from a gradual change to rapid progression (Payne, Winakor Farell Beck, 1992). Our goal is to study more specifically the Neoclassical era, because this period in France gave a newly and creative sense of style in both the arts and architecture that was very similar to those in ancient Rome and Greece (Craske, 1997). During this conflict it caused people to recognize social status and freedom of dress. This revolt caused civilians mainly middle class to rebel for equality and freedom among their society (Mezler, 1998). Furthermore, our group will analyze this decline of the pompous nobility as France is experiencing the onset of a revolution. • 33. Analysis Of Anita Desai s Fasting Feasting In literature the image of women in fiction has undergone a change during the last four decades. Women writers have considerably moved away from traditional portrayals of enduring self sacrificing women, towards conflicts, female characters searching for identity, no longer characterized simply in terms of their victimized status. One such prominent Indian author, whose writing addresses issues focusing on the condition of women in India, is Anita Desai. Desai s novels chiefly center around the representations of women and their struggles against patriarchal and colonial oppression. Her novel Fasting Feasting (2000) is above all a work which delineates the psychic entrapment of women in a oppressive environment. Though India attained independence from colonial rule it failed to unburden women from the ideal visions of womanhood. Advancement of learning and modernization have made little impact on the internal psyche and attitude of the society towards women specially in context of India. This paper attempts to critically examine Anita Desai s outlook and standpoint on the socio cultural issues of patriarchal oppression, ideological conditioning, female freedom and empowerment with special reference to her novel Fasting Feasting. The paper brings into focus the interaction of women s traumatic experiences, the psychological plight of the female characters, and the state of their oppression in a male dominated patriarchal framework. Justification is a legal act, wherein God deems the sinner righteous on the basis of Christ s righteousness. Horton tells us on pg. 280, God justifies the wicked not those who have done their best yet have fallen short, those who might at least be judged acceptable because of the sincerity, but those who, at the very moment of being pronounced righteous, are in themselves unrighteous. This means full repentance, which is defined as such, as a change of mind, or a conversion from sin to God. And the relinquishment of any practice from the conviction that has offended God. In the original arch, various rectangle shaped bricks were haphazardly stacked on each other with hopes of at most supporting a small room. However, the redesigned arch used precisely measured polyhedrons and trapezoidal prisms in a specific way to support each other. This developed arch led to the creation of larger builders, aqueducts, and tunnels. Many empires proceeding the Romans adapted this design to fit their specific and different needs, and arches are still used today. Therefore, using basic geometric shapes, the people in the Roman Empire revolutionized the arch forever. The Roman Empire did not create the arch in 23 CE (Ambler). However, they adapted it from a weak arch that could barely support a small building. Before the Roman Empire, the original arch design was corbeled with congruent rectangular prisms. A corbeled arch is an arch where stones are laid so they move toward the center as they move higher (Ambler). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other errors like this will continue to happen in situations of wrongful ethically based decision making if the error process is not ceased. Once again, for a nurse to be able to weigh the outside forces that influence decisions and ethically measure their value patient priority must be applied. In expansion of patient priority, a nurse should practice this idea by specifically practicing good communication skills to everyone involved in the patients care at all times. This includes effectively communicating with the patient, the patient s family, other nurses, and the physician in charge of their care. By doing so, one is best performing patient advocacy and avoiding error. Also, the nurse should be aware of the care team s actions and how they affect the patient and be willing to speak up when a mistake may be occurring. Such as, if a doctor writes a wrong prescription or if a nurse doesn t correctly assess vitals, it is important for that nurse to appropriately advise her team members of their actions when it involves the patient. While evaluating personal beliefs and values, one must understand how this is incorporated into ethics of nursing. According to Mendes (2015), Ethical dilemmas are not uncommon in health care. The disparate cultures of Southwest and AirTran are also posing problems for the merger of their online reservation systems. Southwest currently is planning to switch from Sabre or Amadeus to better accommodate merchandising and international flights. AirTran s reservations system vendor is Navitaire.25 AirTran and Southwest have diametrically opposed views on distribution through online travel agencies. Southwest usually sells its tickets via telephone or through its Web site whereas AirTran prefers online reservation systems such as Orbitz and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Political Tensions Between The Islamic 30 Years War As they struggle to understand the different dimensions of the geo political tensions between the Islamic republic of Iran and Sunni Saudi Arabia a rivalry that has some sectarian elements to it, western security experts often resort to use of such terms like Islam s ancient blood feud and the Islamic 30 years war . Useful though those terms may be and understandable as they are when the Middle East is viewed with a western lense, they fail to accurately capture the ground reality. The shiat ali, or party of Ali split off from mainstream Islam after the tragic (to all sects) battle of Karbala in 660 AD to form a distinct sect within the Islamic religion ( Richard 1995, page 2). In the first millennia of Islamic history, Shia dynasties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Delong Bas 2004, page 23). Lastly, the states erected by the Western powers on the ruins of the Ottoman empire in the Middle East, such as Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon have gone through a period of weakening due to the Arab spring and other recent events. In the power struggle that has ensued in those countries, Iran and Saudi Arabia are currently involved in a power struggle, in cahoots with their proxies, for regional supremacy. The modern processes of state formation and rise of nationalism ( Halliday, page 26) are the main forces driving animosity between Islamic republic of Iran and sunni Saudi Arabia. National leaders often resort to narratives and myths to rouse nationalist sentiment when they realise the need to rationalize their legitimacy in the state building process. When the regimes try to position themselves as saviours of particular brand of a religion, an explosive element is added to the narrative which can heighten geo political tensions ( Halliday 2000, page 29). During the late 18th century, the Al Saud family, which ruled a remote kingdom of the Arabian peninsula came into an agreement with Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab. As part of their alliance, the Al Saud family agreed to be the patron and military spearhead of Wahhabism ( Delong Bas, 2004, page 27). Thus formed a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Yield Line Theory Is A Productive Method For Deciding The... Yield line theory is a productive method for deciding the breakdown heap of strengthened concrete slabs. The yield line hypothesis is an adaptable outline strategy, particularly when orthotropic and inhomogeneous properties, gaps and unique bolster conditions, must be considered. In the 1960s yield line hypothesis was the subject of extensive enthusiasm for the UK, as prove by a whirlwind of papers and monographs, including an uncommon distribution issued by Magazine of Concrete Research. In the event that the tomahawks of turn for two slab parts are not at the same profundity measured from the section surface, the relative relocation intermittence is no more opposite to the yield line. One disputable and minimal comprehended part of Johansen s yield line hypothesis is the idea of nodal forces. It uses Yield Line Theory to investigate failure mechanisms at the ultimate limit state. Thus, work done in yield lines rotating means work done in loads moving. Yield Line Design leads to slabs that are quick and easy to design, and are quick and easy to construct. Key words: Yield line, design, slab, concrete structures. Introduction: Yield line theory is a productive method for deciding the breakdown heap of strengthened concrete slabs, and it pre dates limit examination. The term yield line (in Danish: brudlinie , truly signifying line of crack ) was authored in 1921 by Ingerslev to depict lines in the slabs along which the twisting minute is steady [1].
