Disney On Broadway Research Paper
Disney has taken the world by storm from movies to games to television and now even theatre. Disney
is no stranger to the silver screen or to your home television screens, but it has now made its mark on
Broadway stages around the globe. Since the early 1990 s, dozens of Disney films have been adapted
into Broadway classics. When one show stops, another one begins. Storming into its 24th year, Disney
on Broadway is one of the most successful theatre enterprises in the world reaching millions of
audience members in more than 40 countries (Tallarico). Before Disney revamped the theatrical
world, 42nd Street and the surrounding Times Square area was in total disarray. The 1980 s Time
Square was a place for drug dealers, hustlers, and prostitutes to seek haven in. It was not until Mayor
Rudy Giuliani invited major family friendly companies such as Disney to come in and revitalize the
town that 42nd Street became a safer place. Disney changed the Broadway style of ... Show more

The audience comes for a familiar story transformed onstage with cutting edge technology to thrill the
audience and advance industry standards (Pressley). One of the biggest advantages of Disney on
Broadway is a guaranteed audience that is familiar with the storyline and music, as well as a large
company that is able to handle any negative reviews (Kearney). One reason for the increase in ticket
sales for Disney in the past twenty years is due to the safer environment after the redesign of 42nd
Street (Horn). Because of this, more children and senior citizens come to enjoy the shows. Tourists
make up the biggest percentage of those who purchase Broadway tickets. Therefore, commercial
theatre relies heavily on recognizable names to coax audience members into the theatres (How
Disney). Disney is one of the top grossing companies in the world, making it incredibly easy to
transform one of their classic movies into a theatrical

The Efficacy Of Sodium Fluoride
RESEARCH METHODS 2
QUESTION 1:
PART A:
1. Aims:
To determine the efficacy of sodium fluoride varnish (22,600ppm) application biannual and use of
high concentration fluoride toothpaste (2800ppm) together in high caries risk children wearing
orthodontic braces against development of white surface lesions (WSL) between 12 16 years of age.
2. Objectives:
To detect and classify progress of caries using ICDAS system in high caries risk children wearing
orthodontic braces with combined use of fluoride varnish applications biannually and use of high
concentration fluoride toothpaste (2800ppm) vs. use of fluoride varnish application biannually and
normal strength (1450 ppm) fluoride toothpaste.
3. Hypotheses:
The combined use of biannual fluoride application and high concentration fluoride toothpaste reduced
the occurrence and progress of caries measured according to ICDAS system in high caries risk
children.
4. Study design:
2 year randomised controlled trial was conducted.
PART B:
Methods for the proposed study:
1. Population of interest:
The study was conducted at a very busy orthodontic practice. A total of 186 participants were included
in the study.
Inclusion criteria for children to be part of study was: Patient fitted with fixed brace in last 2 month,

The Debate On The Death Penalty
Death Penalty
The debate on if the death penalty is ethical is something that is a long standing debate depending on
what side of the issue you are on. Both sides of this issue have their points yet there are always things
about the issue that kept it in the forefront. The right to life is taken for granted without thinking twice,
however, due to the laws of this country the freedom we take for granted can be taken away with the
mistakes we made. Looking at both sides of the issue gives insight on why this remains a relevant and
will continue being debated not only civilly, but also in many appeals in our court system today.
In the past twenty years, thirty eight of the fifty states have meted out at least one death sentence and

Walter Berns expressed himself by saying, If human life is to be held in awe, as it should be, the law
forbidding the taking of it must be held in awe, and the only way the law can be made awe inspiring is
to entitle it to inflict the penalty of death (Berns,1980). The value of a human life varies depending on
which side of the issue one s beliefs lay.
Understanding more on why the thought of taking a life instead of a life sentence in a prison is
complex yet simple at the same time due to the nature of the crimes that were committed with the
mentality of the punishment fits the crime. The majority of the executions of people come from the
countries Vietnam, China, Iran, and the United States which is the only westernized country.
The cost difference between putting someone to death versus a life sentence can be major due to the
legal appeals that are granted to death row cases. The cost of putting someone to death varies
depending on state and what cost they pay for security, police time, and investigation. If the death
penalty was replaced with life without, the possibility of parole protects the public as well as saves the
cost of many appeals. Putting to death innocent people happen all the time yet if they were sentenced
to jail for the rest of their life than many of those would have been saved.
The most comprehensive study in the country found that the death penalty costs North Carolina $2.16

Interview Technical And Non Technical Staff
During the data gathering phase it is crucial to interview technical and non technical staff to determine
if the security policies are being followed. Any staff who have access to the computers or systems in
the organization should be interviewed in the security audit. System users, managers, and even
cleaning staff should be considered. During the interview it will need to be determined what access the
staff have to the systems and what their usage patterns are. If they have administrator access or root
access is important to understand. The respondents should rate the controls used to secure the IT
assets, these controls include: management controls, authentication/access controls, physical security,
outsider access to systems, system administration controls and procedures, connections to external
networks, remote access, incident response, and contingency planning. Technical staff should also be
interviewed to a much higher degree, here are some common questions asked during these interviews:
The next step in the audit will be a technical investigation of the systems being audited. System logs
will need to be reviewed for all systems under the audit. System code levels and verification that the
latest patches and updates have been applied needs to be confirmed. The latest known vulnerabilities
list will also need to be checked for the specific devices and code in question. A review previous
security incidents at the organization to gain an idea of historical

The Success of Innocent Drinks Using Competing Values...
THE SUCCESS OF INNOCENT DRINKS USING COMPETING VALUES FRAMEWORK AND
PESTEL ANALYSIS.
Innocent Drinks was started by three friends in 1999 that developed premium smoothies that
contained 100% natural fruit with no water or added sugar. The aim was to provide people with quick
ready to go and healthy food and drink options. The company is now one of the best loved and fastest
growing businesses in Britain. The highly successful Innocent Drinks sells $2 million smoothies per
week across Europe, building a 72% market share in the 8 years since they were founded (Anne
2008). They give 10% of their profit to charity and continually participate in fund raising activities
such as The Big Knit . Throughout the years, Innocent has managed to ... Show more content on

According to Jonathan Salem (2009), a global brand strategist, Innocent s branding brilliance is its
unconventional marketing which is considered ethical as it gives lots of money away and maintains a
cuddly tone in its adds, on its website and even on its labels. This way it has no doubt delighted its
customers with its straightforward approach to business using a simple down to earth communications
technique that mirrors the honesty of the brand and its products. The product is also successful as in
today s busy working lifestyle people want to be healthy but don t have time and look for quick
options in ready made food and drinks that are healthy. People today are also very health conscious
and want to eat healthy so innocent provide a great option being 100% natural with good taste at the
same time.
Over a year ago, Innocent invested with Coca Cola. They sold a minority stake of between 10% and
20% in order to raise funds so it could expand into Europe. This has been a good decision for the
company as the business has grown in Europe over the last year by the help of Coke (Innocent Drinks
2009).
The rational goal model emphasises control and an external focus and views planning, goal setting,
productivity and efficiency as effective. Innocent employ experts in all areas from web designers to
nutritionists to sales representatives which means everyone works in their specialized field to get the
best possible outcomes for the company. This is important as in some

John Locke Essay
John Locke John Locke is considered to be England s most prominent philosopher. He was born
August 29, 1632 in a small town of Somerset, which is south of Bristol, England. Locke was the
oldest of three children. His mother died when he was 22 years old and Locke spoke of her very well.
Locke s father was a Puritan attorney and clerk to a justice of the peace in the town where Locke was
born. He was very strict with his son when he was younger. which Locke later believed that parents
should be stricter and less indulgent towards their children. John Locke was raised in a home that was

In 1671 Locke wrote two drafts of his essay which revolutionized English philosophy. His essay was
about the principles of morality and revealed religion. Locke concluded that questions about religious
and moral principles could be answered only after thorough investigation of the human understanding
and of human knowledge.5 He had many theories and ideas, which he spent most of his life trying to
find the answers to. Locke believes that everything existing or occurring in a mind either is or includes
an idea; and all human knowledge both starts from and is founded on ideas .6 His ideas and essays
caused people to get upset because of the newness of the ideas. Locke believed that everyone should
be equal to pursue what he or she wants. He believed that everyone is born perfect and you build on
what happen to you in your life. This is the theory of blank slate. At this time in history there were
many different theories about why humans were they way they were and what made people evil.
Locke believed that society and your surroundings were what made people bad or evil. Locke s main
belief was in Life, Liberty, and Property and he showed all of this in the way he influenced society
with his ideas. John Locke not only influenced the people of his time, but he is also still influencing us
today. He made us think about ourselves and our relations to the world we live

Cultural Practices between Men and Women in Nigeria

Creative Media Industries are swiftly shifting its focus to solely digital media and opportunities for
creative writers are paid no attention but a Canada based Nigerian scholar at the thirty first yearly
covention of the Association of Nigerian Authors, points out that writers are the world s window into a
culture Adesanmi (2013). Novelists, biographers, historians, scriptwriters, and more recently, bloggers

People s lives and cultures are made up of coinciding stories, and the monolithic impression of
Nigerian women in literature still needs to be challenged.
LITERATURE REVIEW/CRITICAL UNDERPINNING In Nigeria, men expect and demand respect,
cultural practices show that the major roles of women is to submit to their men, raise the children and
feed them. From the precolonial period to present time, women s roles have advanced but the Nigeria
has always been a patriachial society, the concept of patriachy is crucial...because feminism needed a
term by which the totality of oppressive and exploitative relations which affect women could be
expressed (Humm 2003:200).
Colonialism ushered education and with time, women were allowed to be educated and became
exposed and aware of their rights but:
...women s rights and women s being have always been taken for granted, nicely and safely tucked
away under the bed of patriarchy. Silence was the virtue of women and passivity their garner, but it

Emancipation Proclamation Analysis
E
In order to understand all the intricacies that went in to the Emancipation Proclamation you have to go
back a little further in history. You also have to understand that Lincoln was a master politician to
which some would argue has yet to be matched. Lincoln ran with the National Union Party which
wanted to end slavery. Lincoln was not proslavery however he was a politician which dictated how he
handled his beliefs in the public eye. When the Civil War broke out it was not about slavery it was
about preserving the Union. Lincoln had no idea that it would take as long as it did or the turns it
would take. Initially Lincoln and his war advisors decided to proceed with a three prong attack they
would call The Anaconda Plan. The first was to block the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After this was done the battle in Antietam would happen. This was also excellent timing. While the
battle was basically a draw the North was able to spin it thanks to newspaper depicting it as a win.
Lincoln seized this opportunity to send the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation. By doing this he
opened the door to his power of Commander and Chief of the United States Army. The timing of this
document was also quite timely. It was sent out 5 days after the battle of Antietam and just hundred
days before the New Year. It stated that if the Confederates stated in the war the Union would start
freeing slaves. The South did not pull out of the war as a result on January 1, 1863 Lincoln made the
proclamation public. He justified doing so by stating in the proclamation that he was the Commander
and Chief and this was a necessary war measure. On this day no slaves were technically freed since
there was a restriction on who could be freed. The restriction stated that in order for slaves to be freed
they must reside in a state that was in active rebellion against the United States. All the Union slaves
were already free so it did not affect them over all but as the Union moved into the Confederate states

socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, geographic location. Traditional or chattel slavery (slave
trade) involves the buying and selling of people, they are often abducted from their homes, inherited
or given as gifts. (O Donnell 1992)
Its only the past hundred and fifty years or so that attempts have been made to put racism on a
scientific footing, before that discriminatory practices were usually justified or condemned on
religious beliefs, whites were seen as the offspring of Adam and Eve which in tern were classed as the

The roots of racial division lie within the expansion of the European empire during the eighteenth and
nineteenth centuries, after the Second World War the British Empire expanded to the Far East which is
when the occupation of India, Pakistan and large parts of Africa along with several islands in the West
Indies took place. The exploitation of Africans (mainly West Africans) was a key factor in laying the
foundations for the future racial conflict. Slave traders were mainly from Britain, Spain, France and
Portugal; they kidnapped Africans and transported them to the southern USA where they were forced
to work on sugar, rum, tobacco and cotton plantations. (O Donnell 1992)

Incentive Plans
Organizations provide incentive plans to employees as motivation to reach the objectives and goals of
the company. Incentives are given to personnel to encourage them to do his or her best. Incentive
plans in any business might include bonuses or raises, stock option plans, or other forms of incentives.
This is in exchange for the employees who work harder, better, or faster in accordance with the
organizations goals and objectives (Businesstown.com, 2001). The majority of incentives are
performance based policies in which workers receive additional cash or benefits centered on a worker
s performance.

The CSR would receive a candy bar of his or her choice or PTO for taking the most calls in a day.
Each day the total calls are reported and the CSR with the most receives the incentive. Some CSR s
will have competitions with each other. This is a way the employees motivate themselves. When all
goals are met the team or teams receive a lunch party in which the company provides the funds for the
event; this is a paid event for all employees. Some employees make his or her team goals a priority
because the team goal incentive is always higher than individual goals.
Conclusion
Incentive plans are beneficial to an organization because it provides high productive results through
teamwork; teamwork is an effective tool in an organization. For that reason, it is important to build an
effective team and motivate them. The supervisor has the responsibility to motivate the employees;
however, when incentives are given it will motivate the employee to do his or her best and in return
the company will gain the maximum productivity of the employees (Businesstown.com, 2001). In the
department I work for monetary incentives motivate the employees but nonmonetary incentives as
simple as a candy bar or PTO work too.

George Isaac Whitlatch did extensive work to find resources in TN. He published a few books
regardiing the economic values of and where natural resources exist in TN. One of his first works was
THE CLAYS OF WEST TN, and the importance of such minerals. In the 1820 s in America clays
were used by pioneers to build homes, as well good for domestic wares and bricks. In the 1874 book
Killebrew and Safford Potteries (1874), it s mentioned that many rich beds of potters clay of the finest
quality exist in Henry Co., Tennessee. The father of the clay mining industry in west tn was Isadore
Mandle, responsible for ball clay mining in Henry County, where 125 train cars per month were
exported in 1897.
Prior to WWI, the bulk of the clays came from Europe. In the late 1930 s this started to change, and
west TN and western KY mines accounted for more than 80 percent of the ball clay used in the United

Management: Theory, Practice and Application/MGT330
Management Planning Boeing Corporation
Management planning is the first basic process in a series of four fundamental management functions.
The planning function is a vital for any company because it is a process of formulating goals, provides
focus to achieve those goals, and gives direction in the attainment of the goals. Boeing is a large,
global corporation and many internal and external factors effect its business. Boeing must adhere to
certain regulations, such as those instituted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The

The last step of the planning process is controlling and monitoring and is ongoing. All levels of
managers are involved in this process using controls that measure the performance and progress of the
plan. This step also allows adjustments to the plan because changes sometimes occur or the plan was
executed improperly. The strategic, tactical, and operational planning must be aligned in order for a
plan to succeed.
Legal Issues, Ethics, and Corporate Responsibility
Many internal and external factors influence planning management. Legal issues can destroy a
businesses reputation and affect its profitability. In the 1998, Boeing settled a gender discrimination
case and agreed to pay $75 million dollars to the accusers. Women employees accused Boeing of
paying them significantly less wages than employees who were men. According to BLR.com (2010),
Boeing admitted no wrongdoing but agreed to change its hiring, pay, promotion, and complaint
investigation procedures (HR and Employment Law News, para. 2). As a result of the lawsuit, Boeing
used the planning function in the human resources management. Other issues influence Boeing s
planning function.
Boeing and its managers are not innocent from unethical behavior. A CEO of Boeing was fired in
March 2005 for participating in an extramarital affair (Holmes, 2005). This was a violation of Boeing

Common Stereotypes In Native American Film
In the film The Searchers, Ethan Edwards returned from the civil war hoping that he would find his
home, family and the woman he secretly admired. However, the Comanche Massacre shattered his
hopes. This made him swear to himself that he would pursue all his relatives and bring them home.
Together with his Indian nephew Martin, he embarked on a long journey in search for his niece, who
had been kidnapped by the Indians. In the process of the search, Martin correctly suspects his uncle of
intending to kill his niece, as she had been defiled by being assimilated by the Indians (Owens). Just
like in many others films, it did not take long to know that Indians inhabited a troubled and troubling
space in John Wayne s movies (Owens). Fortunately, due to Martin s intervention Ethan spares his

Definition Franchising offers an excellent opportunity for you to be in business for yourself. When

Panopticism Essay
In his essay Panopticism, Michel Foucault introduces the Panopticon structure as proof of modern
society tending toward efficient disciplinary mechanisms. Starting with his example of the strict,
intensely organized measures that are taken in a typical 17th century plague stricken town, Foucault
describes how the town employed constant surveillance techniques, centralized a hierarchy of
authorities to survey households, partitioned individual structures to impose certain behavior, and
record current information about each individual.
As society has progressed, Foucault explains, these practices have expanded into other institutions
such as hospitals, schools, prisons and asylums. Bentham s Panopticon embodies such disciplinary ...

The Panopticon functions as a kind of laboratory of power, Foucault declares; indeed, much
knowledge can be ascertained by penetra[ting] into men s behavior (379).
Foucault introduces the modern police force as an example of Panopticism. He explains that the
development of a more centralized police force in the late eighteenth century stemmed from the need
of sovereigns to maintain a sort of surveillance over all miniature details. With a mobilized, invisible
force stretched from even the most extreme limits , it becomes possible to extend constant supervision
to reach the most elementary particle (Foucault 386). The organization of the police became the
vehicle in which political power could keep a permanent, exhaustive, omnipresent gaze on the entire
population; a regular Panopticon for the city. Beyond duties of surveillance, the police would also
pursue and punish criminals, plotters, and opposition movements as a way to demonstrate the

If You Come Softly, By Jacqueline Woodson
Throughout their lifetimes, individuals encounter a variety of challenges that test their resilience.
Sometimes it targets a person s personality, beliefs, race or culture. It can follow an individual
throughout their life or stay in it for a period of time. However, with a strong personality and a
determined goal, these obstacles can be conquered. An example of an obstacle that can be a battle in
everyday life is prejudice, mostly against the different types of race. Racism is the false conviction
that one race is more unrivaled than the other which isolated the world to what it is today. It is a part
of human nature, and unfortunately, many people don t know their limits when it comes to it. Some
other individuals, however, have internal conflicts with themselves which, in some situations, limits
them from the world.

Is Dance A Sport Essay
Is dance a sport? Many people right now are thinking How is the harlem shake or the cupid shuffle a
sport? , but that is not what we are talking about, we are talking about dance sports and teams. But
Sport is in the name DANCESPORT is what some are saying now, but many still don t accept this
kind of dance as a sport yet. There are two sides to this argument, those who are for dance as a sport
are usually those who are in a dance sport or are educated in the subject. While those who are against
it as a sport tend to not be part of a dance sport or just don t know what they are truly talking about. So
why don t we delve into this argument. Let s start with the definition of a sport. Oxford defines a sport

SUV VS GUYS
As the years have gone on we have seen many changes in the differences and roles of gender. Little
have we thought of seeing cars taking a role of gender, in this case an SUV. SUVs have taken the role
of a male with a feminine touch. Dave Barry s Guys vs. Men is a funny, interesting and in fact true
effort at explaining who guys really are, and why they are that way.
Reptile Dreams focuses more on characteristics of an SUV that reflect the characteristics of men. Both
authors produced a strategically strong essay in reference to their point of view with their own
personal touch using a topic that they know most about.

My theory is the reptilian always wins, he said, If there s a crash, I want the other guy to die. Of
course, I can t say that aloud. Hence, the rationale for owning an SUV, and willingness to put others at
risk rather than themselves in a crash situation. Again, questioning the rules of moral behavior. For
Rapaille, the archetype of a sport utility vehicle reflects the reptilian desire for survival. People buy
SUVs, he tells auto executives, because they are trying to look as menacing as possible to allay their
fears of crime and other violence. The Jeep has always had this image around the world because of it
its heavy use in war movies and frequent appearances in newsreels from the 1940 s and 1950 s, and
newer SUVs share the image.
Guy vs Men strategy for showing a certain guy characteristic, like wanting neat stuff such as
mechanical and unnecessarily complex For example the result of guys having the need to have stuff
such as star wars, nuclear weapons, and such items that are in the extends of that genre. as to
differentiate with the characteristics of a women, he used the example of a women and her living room
design arrangement. Whereas a women find the need to rearrange the original position of their
furniture and would cheerfully use the same computer for years, oppose to guys, they do not have a
basic need to rearrange furniture nor keep a computer that is outdated. Dave

The Air National Guard And Part Of The 176th Wing
I am in the Air National Guard and part of the 176th Wing. The two primary missions of the 176th
Wing are airlift and search and rescue (to include civil search and rescue). This includes federal
missions as well as state missions. My organization does not seek a profit but we do have competitors
for our airlift and search and rescue capabilities. According to Grant and Jordan (2012), an industry
should focus on strategic management and focus on the competition and the goal of having a
competitive advantage. The 176th Wing s internal resources and capabilities allow us to be different
from our civilian and military competitors within the state concerning civil search and rescue (Grant
Jordan, 2012). Our key competitors are the State of Alaska and the Coast Guard in the state.
176th Wing Strategy and How it was Developed The strategy of the 176th Wing is to work with
internal and external partners to increase our Arctic representation, emergency management response,
engagement in Alaskan rural communities, and to continue to perform multiple federal and state
missions. The strategy of the 176th Wing is set by the Governor of Alaska through The Adjutant
General and the Wing Commander. The strategy of the 176th Wing is unique primarily based on our

many hobbies from a young ae including reading, painting, and music. It was not until the age of 23

career, Clarence Hudson White would be described as the one who may be considered the archetypal
Pictorialist photographer of the United States by photo historian Naomi Rosenblum. Four years after
White made his first photographs, he began receiving awards for his artistry. He saw his photos as a
work of art that were crafted as any other art medium revealed by their makers had. His prints
typically displayed richness and subtle details that other artists rarely achieved. Clarence White along
with other pictorialists had the goal of elevating photography into the more respected art realm. Unlike

The Amazon Tribe Like The Wari Culture
Starting with the meaning of Culture; is the characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of
people, defined by their beliefs, behaviors, language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts. To
me it was interesting to read the three books and learned about how Conklin, Hutchinson, and Basso
studied the concept of the different cultures. In Consuming Grief, Beth A. Conklin, studies the history
of the Amazon Tribe like the Wari culture. Conklin talked about the concept of Cannibalism which
was something new for me to learn about how people are eating human flesh. People in the olden days
used to practice cannibalism during the famines, in the besieged cities. Some of the primitive tribes
believed that by eating the flesh of enemies, they could acquire their abilities. On the other hand others
believe in cannibalism as a religious ritual or burial rites, or a way for the family to get rid of their loss
easily, quickly and as a kind of exaggeration in hurting the enemy, where the winner will eat the flesh
of the vanquished. And some people thought that eating the dead body was considered a sign of
respect and compassion for the dead person. Cannibalism existed only in the past until the 1960s
among the Indians of the western Amazonian rainforest. In Sharon Hutchinson, Nuer Dilemmas:
Coping with Money, war and the State, she lays out the concept of the expansive background of blood,

The aspects of an Amish funeral service are steeped in customs that vary largely from that of an

perspective, is a celebration of life or the mourning of a life; while, the funeral seen from an Amish
perspective, is a celebration of the gift of God.
In general, when a member of the Amish community dies, their body will be embalmed. Unlike most
of the more conservative religions, the Amish believe in using both arterial embalming (The process
of injecting chemicals into the arterial system of the body) and visceral embalming (The process of
injecting chemicals into the viscera or organs). In most modern circumstances, the Amish family will

Ruthless Or Progressive Animal Testing

Ruthless or Progressive Animal Testing Curious minds since the beginning of time have used animals
to explore deeper into the realms of science, whether behavioral or biomedical. Despite many medical
advances since, people have developed a division between what they feel is beneficial or not to the
modernizing world as to whether animal cruelty is acceptable and humane or not. Animal testing is
research science, typically regarding chemical exposures, drug overdoses, genetic manipulation, and
surgical procedures that result in prolonged suffering and eventual death. According to Bernard E.
Rollin s journal entry from the Hastings Center Report, The Moral Status of Invasive Animal
Research, Science is value free in general and ethics free in particular which indicates scientists are
not concerned with the ethical matters but more so the results. Throughout the world, there are over
115 million animals tested in laboratories per year, ranging from farm animals to non human primates
(such as chimpanzees, monkeys, etc.) Many people are aware that animal testing exists, but not to the
extent of what it is, such as how an eyeliner from L Oreal has been tested on an animal. However, it s
not the finished product that is tested on an animal but rather so the breakdown of the chemical
composition within the product. There are ongoing experiments to this day where hazardous
chemicals are rubbed into the shaved

Cerebral Palsy And Its Effects On Society
Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral palsy (often known as CP) is a term that broadly covers a number of conditions in which a
person has an impairment of their motor function. Though motor skills are essential in living a normal
lifestyle, living with CP is completely manageable in today s modern world. Currently, there is no
definite cure to offset the symptoms of CP, but there are a number of treatments that can mitigate the
various effects of the condition. In this paper, I would like to discuss the effects of cerebral palsy, the
treatments involved, quality of life for those who are affected, and future research regarding the
condition. A spastic form of paralysis, cerebral palsy is notable because the muscles of an affected
body are involuntarily contracting, causing random spasms in every day movement. Cerebral palsy
affects about 1 in 323 children in America, making it the most common motor disability in children
living in America (CDC). Due to it being caused by brain injury or brain malformation, most
individuals with Cerebral Palsy are born with it, while a minority of those affected can acquire it later
on in life (CerebralPalsy). Impairments resulting from CP vary on a case by case basis, though it
usually correlates on the amount of brain damage that is present in the individual (CerebralPalsy).
Symptoms of cerebral palsy can include stiffness in muscles, variations in muscle tone, a lack in
muscle coordination, and many others (Mayo Clinic). These symptoms be relatively

The Republicn and a Brief History of Philosphy
In The Republic there are six reoccurring themes education, justice, specialization, philosopher king,
soul, and truth. Plato uses justice though as the folk point and the remaining five trace back to justice.
Socrates defines justice as that one man should practice one thing only, the thing to which his nature
was best adapted (Plato 123). Socrates then goes to discuss the three parts to the soul, A man reasons,
we may call the rational principle of the soul, the other... may be termed the irrational or appetitive
and then there is the spirit (Plato 130). Kant proposes that justice says that only good people should be
happy, and happy in proportion to their goodness (Gustafson 67). Plato and Socrates saw justice as
giving what is owed, while Kant saw justice as being happy in proportion to their virtue. Yet each
strived for justice and look to eliminate the injustices in the world. These themes and ideas were not
just something that once occurred and then no one thought of again. These themes still play a role in
everyday life, some more predominate then others but apparent just the same. In the film Crimes and
Misdemeanors the view is introduced to a group of people with all different struggles. As the movie
progresses the characters dive deeper into their hardships, and some may never be able to get out of
them. This film deals with many of the ideas that Plato speaks about. The theme of justice is one that
is featured as the most important in the film. Secondary to

Summary Of Pico Iyer s Where World Collide
Imagine believing a fantasy only to be faced with a harsh reality. In Pico Iyer s Essay, Where World
Collide, Iyer depicts multiple bustling scenes he witnesses at the Los Angeles International Airport
(LAX). Through his interactions, his observations of travelers at the airport, and his own perceptions
based on his viewpoint as an immigrant traveling to a land often fantasized about, Iyer makes several
assertions about Los Angeles. Through diction, juxtapositions, humor, and anecdotes in his essay, Iyer
demonstrates that Los Angeles is not some wonderful fantasy that many believe it to be; but that it is
instead representative of the cultural melting pot that is the world. Iyer begins the piece on a rather
vague note. He introduces the essay in third person referring to they . Although this they is not
revealed until further paragraphs, through his descriptions of places and concepts related to Los
Angeles, such as the Dodgers, Disneyland, or airport shuttles, the reader soon can conclude that this
they are travelers and they are at no other than LAX. Through his use of third person Iyer helps to
show multiple perspectives of how coming to Los Angeles may be. In each of these perspectives he
highlights the enthusiasm of these travelers thus helping to strengthen his assertion that to many
newcomers, Los Angeles is often a fantasy. He also introduces the concept of Los Angeles being like a
dream to immigrants and tourists through his use of diction when referencing Los

Cost of hardware: The relative cost of software versus hardware has changed substantially over the
last 50 years. When mainframes were expensive and required large support staffs, the few
organizations buying them also had the resources to fund large, expensive custom software
engineering projects. Computers are now much more numerous and much more powerful, which has
several effects on software. The larger market can support large projects to create commercial off the
shelf software, as done by companies such as Microsoft. The cheap machines allow each programmer
to have a terminal capable of fairly rapid compilation. The programs in question can use techniques
such as garbage collection, which make them easier and faster for the programmer to write. On the
other hand, many fewer organizations are interested in employing programmers for large custom
software projects, instead using commercial off the shelf software as much as possible.
The Pioneering Era
The most important development was that new computers were coming out almost every year or two,
rendering existing ones obsolete. Software people had to rewrite all their programs to run on these
new machines. Programmers did not have computers on their desks and had to go to the machine
room . Jobs were run by signing up for machine time or by operational staff. Jobs were run by putting

Benefits Of Turmeric Tea
Turmeric Tea
Turmeric is a popular spice in Asian countries, including India, where it is used as a coloring agent in
a variety of curries and soups. It is also a common ingredient in the Western world and large amounts
of it can be found in mustard, though not many people realize it. Turmeric has far reaching health

usually mixed. If you want to get the health benefits of turmeric without having to fill your body with

seeing the leaves steeped multiple times before consumption is permitted.
Thankfully, you don t have to worry about following the exhausting rules of gongfucha at seven in the
morning, when you re bleary eyed and struggling to remain upright.
Oolong tea can be easily brewed by adding two teaspoons of tea for every 200 milliliters of water. The
water should not have reached boiling point, but should be a good 200 degrees Fahrenheit before the
leaves are added. The leaves should be steeped for ten minutes before drinking (maybe a little less,
depending on personal preference).
Acquiring teas from foreign countries can often prove a little pricy, but oolong tea is uniquely
economical. High quality oolong tea leaves can be used and reused, surviving multiple brewings
without any loss of flavor. In fact, the taste of oolong leaves is said to improve as more brewings

people have medical coverage (Barton, 2007). A huge percent of the population have to rely on

Reforming the system, like any major redesign project of change, would be difficult to implement. We
see this example today as Congress and super committees cannot even agree on budget reform.
Likewise, many in Congress have different views of health care, thus preventing any type of effective
reform. The increase of expenses As politicians continue their dissension amongst each other, the
situation is worsening in our healthcare system. According to the World Health Organization, to
achieve universal health coverage, countries need a financial system that enables people access to all
types of health services without incurring financial hardship (Carrin, Mathauer, Xu, Evans, 2011).
This idea would be the foundation of innovative ideas that the U.S. could reform its healthcare system,
but too many ideas are sabotaging any valid efforts. In the mean time, the U.S. healthcare system
continues to deal with issues such as the increasing uninsured Americans (over 49 million), expensive
administrative procedures and the inability to measure the accuracy of quality of care, access of care,
and the increasing healthcare spending and financing that limit our ability to efficient utilize resources.

Lego s Impact On The World s Leading Brands
Introduction
LEGO is a Danish company that was established in 1932. LEGO started in a small carpenter s shop
and has transformed into one of the world s largest toy companies and most recognizable brands
(lego.com). Specifically, LEGO produces small plastic bricks that can be put together to create larger
creations. Bricks are sometimes sold in packs that create a specific creation, such as Star Wars ships or
police stations, or they can be sold in packs that let the consumers make their own creations using
their imaginations. In the past few years, LEGO has taken huge steps to becoming one of the world s

On Twitter, LEGO had little to no customer engagement at the beginning of 2013, but reached over
75,000 interactions in the third quarter of 2015. YouTube growth was no different as LEGO grew its
follower count by nearly 250,000 subscribers in just the fourth quarter of 2015, nearly matching its
growth for the entirety of 2013 in just three months (McCullough, 2016). Silberbauer and LEGO have
been able to accomplish this growth for a variety of reasons. Most notably, however, is LEGO s ability
to provide content that is relevant to the social needs of consumers through Facebook, Twitter, and
YouTube, as well as its focus on using user generated content to increase its reach through creative
campaigns and innovative technologies.
One of Silberbauer s first campaigns at LEGO was a 2012 Christmas campaign that encouraged
consumers to create family moments with Lego characters. Families from 119 different countries
posted pictures on social media where those photos were liked , shared and retweeted thousands of
times. The campaign generated 150,000 page views, and Silberbauer attributed the success to the fact
that the campaign created an emotional bond between the brand and the consumer. (Prosinski, 2014)
One of LEGO s most notable Facebook campaigns took place in 2015. This campaign was called the
Kronkiwongi Campaign and it allowed children to create an imaginary character and use their
creativity to define what a Kronkiwongi is.

  • 2. Disney On Broadway Research Paper Disney has taken the world by storm from movies to games to television and now even theatre. Disney is no stranger to the silver screen or to your home television screens, but it has now made its mark on Broadway stages around the globe. Since the early 1990 s, dozens of Disney films have been adapted into Broadway classics. When one show stops, another one begins. Storming into its 24th year, Disney on Broadway is one of the most successful theatre enterprises in the world reaching millions of audience members in more than 40 countries (Tallarico). Before Disney revamped the theatrical world, 42nd Street and the surrounding Times Square area was in total disarray. The 1980 s Time Square was a place for drug dealers, hustlers, and prostitutes to seek haven in. It was not until Mayor Rudy Giuliani invited major family friendly companies such as Disney to come in and revitalize the town that 42nd Street became a safer place. Disney changed the Broadway style of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the biggest advantages of Disney on Broadway is a guaranteed audience that is familiar with the storyline and music, as well as a large company that is able to handle any negative reviews (Kearney). One reason for the increase in ticket sales for Disney in the past twenty years is due to the safer environment after the redesign of 42nd Street (Horn). Because of this, more children and senior citizens come to enjoy the shows. Tourists make up the biggest percentage of those who purchase Broadway tickets. Therefore, commercial theatre relies heavily on recognizable names to coax audience members into the theatres (How Disney). Both sides of this issue have their points yet there are always things about the issue that kept it in the forefront. The right to life is taken for granted without thinking twice, however, due to the laws of this country the freedom we take for granted can be taken away with the mistakes we made. Looking at both sides of the issue gives insight on why this remains a relevant and will continue being debated not only civilly, but also in many appeals in our court system today. In the past twenty years, thirty eight of the fifty states have meted out at least one death sentence and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1). Walter Berns expressed himself by saying, If human life is to be held in awe, as it should be, the law forbidding the taking of it must be held in awe, and the only way the law can be made awe inspiring is to entitle it to inflict the penalty of death (Berns,1980). The value of a human life varies depending on which side of the issue one s beliefs lay. Understanding more on why the thought of taking a life instead of a life sentence in a prison is complex yet simple at the same time due to the nature of the crimes that were committed with the mentality of the punishment fits the crime. The majority of the executions of people come from the countries Vietnam, China, Iran, and the United States which is the only westernized country. The cost difference between putting someone to death versus a life sentence can be major due to the legal appeals that are granted to death row cases. The cost of putting someone to death varies depending on state and what cost they pay for security, police time, and investigation. If the death penalty was replaced with life without, the possibility of parole protects the public as well as saves the cost of many appeals. Putting to death innocent people happen all the time yet if they were sentenced to jail for the rest of their life than many of those would have been saved. Interview Technical And Non Technical Staff During the data gathering phase it is crucial to interview technical and non technical staff to determine if the security policies are being followed. Any staff who have access to the computers or systems in the organization should be interviewed in the security audit. System users, managers, and even cleaning staff should be considered. During the interview it will need to be determined what access the staff have to the systems and what their usage patterns are. If they have administrator access or root access is important to understand. The respondents should rate the controls used to secure the IT assets, these controls include: management controls, authentication/access controls, physical security, outsider access to systems, system administration controls and procedures, connections to external networks, remote access, incident response, and contingency planning. Technical staff should also be interviewed to a much higher degree, here are some common questions asked during these interviews: The next step in the audit will be a technical investigation of the systems being audited. According to Jonathan Salem (2009), a global brand strategist, Innocent s branding brilliance is its unconventional marketing which is considered ethical as it gives lots of money away and maintains a cuddly tone in its adds, on its website and even on its labels. This way it has no doubt delighted its customers with its straightforward approach to business using a simple down to earth communications technique that mirrors the honesty of the brand and its products. The product is also successful as in today s busy working lifestyle people want to be healthy but don t have time and look for quick options in ready made food and drinks that are healthy. People today are also very health conscious and want to eat healthy so innocent provide a great option being 100% natural with good taste at the same time. Over a year ago, Innocent invested with Coca Cola. They sold a minority stake of between 10% and 20% in order to raise funds so it could expand into Europe. This has been a good decision for the company as the business has grown in Europe over the last year by the help of Coke (Innocent Drinks 2009). The rational goal model emphasises control and an external focus and views planning, goal setting, productivity and efficiency as effective. Innocent employ experts in all areas from web designers to nutritionists to sales representatives which means everyone works in their specialized field to get the best possible outcomes for the company. Despite this attack on Powell s character, his mounting military calling was unimpeded. After he left Fort Carson, Powell became senior military assistant to Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger, whom he assisted during the 1983 invasion of Grenada and the 1986 airstrike on Libya (Wikipedia, 2009). Following the Iran Contra outrage, Powell became Ronald Reagan s National Security Advisor at the age of 49 (Washington Post, 2000). The same year, 1989, Powell was promoted to General and briefly served as the Commander in Chief of the Forces Command headquartered at Fort McPherson, Georgia. Later in the year, Reagan selected him as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. His last military assignment lasting from October 1, 1989 to September 30, 1993, was as the 12th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the highest military position in the Department of Defense. Ruthless Or Progressive Animal Testing Veronica Peiffer Ms. Sharon Graham ENG 102 VF 08 October 2015 Ruthless or Progressive Animal Testing Curious minds since the beginning of time have used animals to explore deeper into the realms of science, whether behavioral or biomedical. Despite many medical advances since, people have developed a division between what they feel is beneficial or not to the modernizing world as to whether animal cruelty is acceptable and humane or not. Animal testing is research science, typically regarding chemical exposures, drug overdoses, genetic manipulation, and surgical procedures that result in prolonged suffering and eventual death. According to Bernard E. Rollin s journal entry from the Hastings Center Report, The Moral Status of Invasive Animal Research, Science is value free in general and ethics free in particular which indicates scientists are not concerned with the ethical matters but more so the results. Throughout the world, there are over 115 million animals tested in laboratories per year, ranging from farm animals to non human primates (such as chimpanzees, monkeys, etc.) Many people are aware that animal testing exists, but not to the extent of what it is, such as how an eyeliner from L Oreal has been tested on an animal. However, it s not the finished product that is tested on an animal but rather so the breakdown of the chemical composition within the product. There are ongoing experiments to this day where hazardous chemicals are rubbed into the shaved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Cerebral Palsy And Its Effects On Society Cerebral Palsy Cerebral palsy (often known as CP) is a term that broadly covers a number of conditions in which a person has an impairment of their motor function. Though motor skills are essential in living a normal lifestyle, living with CP is completely manageable in today s modern world. Currently, there is no definite cure to offset the symptoms of CP, but there are a number of treatments that can mitigate the various effects of the condition. In this paper, I would like to discuss the effects of cerebral palsy, the treatments involved, quality of life for those who are affected, and future research regarding the condition. A spastic form of paralysis, cerebral palsy is notable because the muscles of an affected body are involuntarily contracting, causing random spasms in every day movement. Cerebral palsy affects about 1 in 323 children in America, making it the most common motor disability in children living in America (CDC). Due to it being caused by brain injury or brain malformation, most individuals with Cerebral Palsy are born with it, while a minority of those affected can acquire it later on in life (CerebralPalsy). Impairments resulting from CP vary on a case by case basis, though it usually correlates on the amount of brain damage that is present in the individual (CerebralPalsy). Symptoms of cerebral palsy can include stiffness in muscles, variations in muscle tone, a lack in muscle coordination, and many others (Mayo Clinic). These symptoms be relatively ... • 29. The Republicn and a Brief History of Philosphy In The Republic there are six reoccurring themes education, justice, specialization, philosopher king, soul, and truth. Plato uses justice though as the folk point and the remaining five trace back to justice. Socrates defines justice as that one man should practice one thing only, the thing to which his nature was best adapted (Plato 123). Socrates then goes to discuss the three parts to the soul, A man reasons, we may call the rational principle of the soul, the other... may be termed the irrational or appetitive and then there is the spirit (Plato 130). Kant proposes that justice says that only good people should be happy, and happy in proportion to their goodness (Gustafson 67). Plato and Socrates saw justice as giving what is owed, while Kant saw justice as being happy in proportion to their virtue. Yet each strived for justice and look to eliminate the injustices in the world. These themes and ideas were not just something that once occurred and then no one thought of again. These themes still play a role in everyday life, some more predominate then others but apparent just the same. In the film Crimes and Misdemeanors the view is introduced to a group of people with all different struggles. As the movie progresses the characters dive deeper into their hardships, and some may never be able to get out of them. This film deals with many of the ideas that Plato speaks about. The theme of justice is one that is featured as the most important in the film. Secondary to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Safety and Effectiveness of Low-Carbohydrate Diets Essays Although low fat, low calorie diet has always been the gold standard of weight loss, low carbohydrate diet cannot be dismissed. However, despite its popularity, low carbohydrate diet s safety and effectiveness continue to be subject of debates. It was not until recently that low carbohydrate diet is properly studied due to the difficulty of measuring adherence and the high rates of drop outs. This article will review six original reports done on low carbohydrate diet. It will analyse the effectiveness of low carbohydrate diet over short and longer period of time as well as its effects on metabolism, coronary heart disease risk factors, glucose tolerance and psychological aspects. They also found that low carbohydrate diet has more favourable improvement in some factors of coronary heart disease, such as serum triglycerides and serum high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, but not on others, such as blood pressure, low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and insulin sensitivity (Foster et al., 2003). The strength of this research is that it comprises of various coronary heart disease risks. This result however may not be reliable as the sample is small and the attrition level is forty three per cent. As subjects used were obese individuals that had no serious health disease, their findings cannot be generalised for overweight and obese individuals with serious health disease. HPLC diet was also tested on severely obese adolescents, aged twelve to eighteen (Krebs, Gao, Gralla, Collins, Johnson, 2010). Similar to previous findings, they found that HPLC diet has significantly greater reduction in Body Mass Index compared to low fat diet without any adverse effects for up to twenty four weeks before it diminishes. Therefore, Krebs et al. (2010) concluded that HPLC is a safe and effective option for treatment of severe obesity in adolescent. This result, though, should not be generalised as the sample is small and exclusion of children with poor family supports, various health diseases and disorders may affect result. In addition, high drop outs rate may also affect result. On the other hand, since the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Summary Of Pico Iyer s Where World Collide Imagine believing a fantasy only to be faced with a harsh reality. In Pico Iyer s Essay, Where World Collide, Iyer depicts multiple bustling scenes he witnesses at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Through his interactions, his observations of travelers at the airport, and his own perceptions based on his viewpoint as an immigrant traveling to a land often fantasized about, Iyer makes several assertions about Los Angeles. Through diction, juxtapositions, humor, and anecdotes in his essay, Iyer demonstrates that Los Angeles is not some wonderful fantasy that many believe it to be; but that it is instead representative of the cultural melting pot that is the world. Iyer begins the piece on a rather vague note. He introduces the essay in third person referring to they . Although this they is not revealed until further paragraphs, through his descriptions of places and concepts related to Los Angeles, such as the Dodgers, Disneyland, or airport shuttles, the reader soon can conclude that this they are travelers and they are at no other than LAX. Through his use of third person Iyer helps to show multiple perspectives of how coming to Los Angeles may be. In each of these perspectives he highlights the enthusiasm of these travelers thus helping to strengthen his assertion that to many newcomers, Los Angeles is often a fantasy. He also introduces the concept of Los Angeles being like a dream to immigrants and tourists through his use of diction when referencing Los ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...  Cost of hardware: The relative cost of software versus hardware has changed substantially over the last 50 years. When mainframes were expensive and required large support staffs, the few organizations buying them also had the resources to fund large, expensive custom software engineering projects. Computers are now much more numerous and much more powerful, which has several effects on software. The larger market can support large projects to create commercial off the shelf software, as done by companies such as Microsoft. The cheap machines allow each programmer to have a terminal capable of fairly rapid compilation. The programs in question can use techniques such as garbage collection, which make them easier and faster for the programmer to write. On the other hand, many fewer organizations are interested in employing programmers for large custom software projects, instead using commercial off the shelf software as much as possible. The Pioneering Era The most important development was that new computers were coming out almost every year or two, rendering existing ones obsolete. Software people had to rewrite all their programs to run on these new machines. Programmers did not have computers on their desks and had to go to the machine

It is also a common ingredient in the Western world and large amounts of it can be found in mustard, though not many people realize it. Turmeric has far reaching health benefits; unfortunately, they are often outweighed by the toxic ingredients with which the spice is usually mixed. If you want to get the health benefits of turmeric without having to fill your body with takeout curry or street hotdogs, turmeric tea is a good way to go. The ceremonial brewing of oolong tea is referred to as gongfucha and can be quite a tedious affair, seeing the leaves steeped multiple times before consumption is permitted. Thankfully, you don t have to worry about following the exhausting rules of gongfucha at seven in the morning, when you re bleary eyed and struggling to remain upright. Oolong tea can be easily brewed by adding two teaspoons of tea for every 200 milliliters of water. The water should not have reached boiling point, but should be a good 200 degrees Fahrenheit before the leaves are added. The leaves should be steeped for ten minutes before drinking (maybe a little less, depending on personal preference). Acquiring teas from foreign countries can often prove a little pricy, but oolong tea is uniquely economical. High quality oolong tea leaves can be used and reused, surviving multiple brewings without any loss of flavor. This can not be denied when enjoying his poetry. However what is often overlooked is his ability to join together several great art forms into his poetry, including music, being something that he has openly admitted to being his true passion, even above poetry itself. Wise DeVry HSM 534 Health Service Finance February 23, 2013 Week 7 Professor Alison Williams Background The United States, being the most diverse society in the world, has a long and unsuccessful history of attempts at healthcare reform. We spend almost $2 trillion dollars per year on healthcare, yet not all American people have medical coverage (Barton, 2007). A huge percent of the population have to rely on outside sources, such as benefit health care from an employer or from government programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid. Reforming the system, like any major redesign project of change, would be difficult to implement. We see this example today as Congress and super committees cannot even agree on budget reform. Likewise, many in Congress have different views of health care, thus preventing any type of effective reform. The increase of expenses As politicians continue their dissension amongst each other, the situation is worsening in our healthcare system. According to the World Health Organization, to achieve universal health coverage, countries need a financial system that enables people access to all types of health services without incurring financial hardship (Carrin, Mathauer, Xu, Evans, 2011). This idea would be the foundation of innovative ideas that the U.S. could reform its healthcare system, but too many ideas are sabotaging any valid efforts. In the mean time, the U.S. healthcare system continues to deal with issues such as the increasing uninsured Americans (over 49 million), expensive administrative procedures and the inability to measure the accuracy of quality of care, access of care, and the increasing healthcare spending and financing that limit our ability to efficient utilize resources. Literature Review Is U.S. Healthcare deteriorating? One must ask the question of healthcare stability into the future and analyze if the U.S. healthcare system is improving or deteriorating. Silberbauer and LEGO have been able to accomplish this growth for a variety of reasons. Most notably, however, is LEGO s ability to provide content that is relevant to the social needs of consumers through Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, as well as its focus on using user generated content to increase its reach through creative campaigns and innovative technologies. One of Silberbauer s first campaigns at LEGO was a 2012 Christmas campaign that encouraged consumers to create family moments with Lego characters. Families from 119 different countries posted pictures on social media where those photos were liked , shared and retweeted thousands of times. The campaign generated 150,000 page views, and Silberbauer attributed the success to the fact that the campaign created an emotional bond between the brand and the consumer.
