Brokeback Mountain Comparison
In the film Brokeback Mountain, Jake Gyllenhaal s character Jack Twist says in the film, Brokeback
got us good, don t it? This story and the motion picture tells us viewers about the importance of
following your heart and that true love can be forbidden according to certain circumstances. Both the
film and the story have similar yet different transformations throughout the whole story on how both
characters develop and also the importance of the setting of the Brokeback Mountain and how it was
the place that brought the two men together always.
To start off, first what the story is about. Set against the sweeping vistas of Wyoming and Texas, the
film tells the story of two young men, a ranch hand Ennis Del Mar, played by the late actor Heath
Ledger and a rodeo cowboy Jack Twist, where in the film is played by actor Jake Gylllenhaal, who
meet in the summer of 1963, and unexpectedly forge a lifelong connection, one whose complications,
joys, and tragedies provide a testament to the endurance and power of love. Both men were hired to
work as sheepherders in the Wyoming Mountains. As both became co workers and in the film it is
seen how days go by as they work and as both men become closer, their feelings towards one another

marriage. About four years after both being married to women, Ennis receives a postcard from Jack
asking to meet up and go fishing in Brokeback Mountain. Ennis agrees to meet up with Jack. As Jack
arrives to pick up Ennis from his home, both men hug and eventually kiss privately . The emotion that

Kurt Cobain s Life
Drugs have taken and changed the lives of many, even people who seem invincible, our idols. Many
famous musicians and actors have lost their lives due to drugs or alcohol. Three examples would be
Kurt Cobain, Scott Weiland, and Layne Staley, three of the most famous musicians of their time. Each
of their lives were taken by drugs, and some recently. They were all born in the same year of 1967, but
all died at different times. Kurt Cobain, singer and guitarist of Nirvana, was 27 when his heroin
addiction caused him to take his own life. Throughout his teenage years, he experimented with
prescription drugs and marijuana. He began using a drug known as Hash in 1984, which was popular
in his hometown of Aberdeen, Washington. In the summer of 1986, just two years after Kurt first tried

His death is still shrouded in mystery, whether it was a real suicide, or a murder covered up to look
like to a suicide. Either way, his death silenced the people of his generation. He was an inspiration to
millions of people across the world, and his death came as a shock. Scott Weiland, former singer for
Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, struggled with substance abuse throughout his whole life.
When he was young, he showed an interest in singing. In high school he formed his first band Mighty
Joe Young, which eventually became Stone Temple Pilots. They were one of the biggest bands of the
90 s. Scott first got into his drug habits in high school, and was sent to rehab when his parents found
drugs in his room. In 1995, after his band s second album release, he was arrested for drug possession.
This brush with the law did little to quell Weiland s appetite for drugs (Scott Weiland Biography). At
one point, he lived in a Los Angeles hotel, shooting up heroin with Kurt Cobain s wife, Courtney
Love. Weiland s personal addictions impacted his band s ability to tour in 1996, so he subsequently
parted ways with the band for a time.

Dorothy Parker s Waltz
The Waltz by Dorothy Parker, published in 1933 in the New Yorker, is a short story about a female
protagonist who describes her dance with a man through an internal monologue, interrupted by her
direct speech to her dance partner. The story broaches the issues of the female s social position
towards men and how they are conformed to society s conventions. While her thoughts reveal in a
cynical tone how disgusted and dismissive she feels about the waltz with the man, her external speech
expresses the wish to continue dancing. This paper will analyze the narrator s voices and on the one
hand, point out her position to her dance partner. On the other hand, it will critically view the
representation of the dance in reference to her living condition ... Show more content on

[...] I ve been locked in this noxious embrace for the thirty five years this waltz has lasted. (Parker 50)
Not only does the protagonist express her feelings towards the man but she also reveals what the waltz
actually stands for in her narration. She feels to be trapped in her position as a wife and dancing
partner. The man she dances with is her putative husband and the waltz they are dancing is a symbol
for their marriage. Scared that this relationship will be going on like this , she wonder[s] why she didn
t tell him [she] was tired . This statement shows resignation and exhaustion because she cannot be
honest and stand up for herself as a married woman. Moreover, she does not feel any vivid emotions
anymore next to her husband, is [...] past all feelings now (Parker 51) and remembers melancholy the
days she was happily unmarried and lived an easy, peaceful time . She imagines further that the music
would almost stop, so she knows it is rather unrealistic for them to stop dancing and, hence, meaning
to be split up. She does not seem to have any confidence for progress to happen in the future. The
reason for her hopeless situation is that women [...are not] considered free and equal [...] (Sapiro 58),

Unjust Jim Crow Laws
The Jim Crow laws were everything but fair, and equal. Jim Crow is the name they used in the laws on
separating the African Americans from the Caucasian men and women. These laws deprived African
Americans from their civil rights because of the many things they were not allowed to experience due
to these laws. Jim Crow laws oppressed the educational rights, voting rights, and social freedoms of
American citizens, this essay will be discussing the oppression of these rights and freedoms.
One example of the unjust Jim Crow laws were the law for socializing. It shall be unlawful for colored

However, there was no law to restrict black American citizens from voting the American citizens saw
fit to take it upon themselves to deny them the right to vote. Prior to the vigilantes, the government
installed a literacy test for the purpose of determining whether one meets the requirements set by the
government, Literacy tests were used to keep people of color and, sometimes, poor whites from
voting. (The Rise and Fall of Jim Crow). Creating a situation where only the smartest could pass a

been forced to pay a poll tax that many African American citizens could not afford. If against all odds
that you managed to pay and pass the poll tax and literacy test, you would then be confronted by many

lives, however, through it all, people prevailed and Jim Crow laws were revoked from all states and

Like A Raisin In The Sun Literary Analysis
For the most part, dreams have been something people have longed to achieve. Some either come to
realize their true aspirations later on in life or fall in love with a completely different dream and pursue
it. Others may experience major or minor setbacks and self conflict. As a result, dreams are deferred
and possibly dry up Like A Raisin in the Sun . In the play and adapted story, A Raisin in the Sun
contains characters who face a conflict that interfere with their dreams. The three most prominent
characters in this conflict are Mama, Walter, and Beneatha Younger. To each his own, and all for their
own reasons.
Beneatha Younger is a very independent woman with a dream to become her own individual. She is

Walter yearns to support his family, at any cost. Whatever the cost. However, this dream is frequently
deferred and clashes with his little to none self esteem. Walter aspires to become a man just like his
father once was, an honorable man that took great care of his family. Given the time period and
circumstances of being an African American male, Walter s dreams are ever the more difficult to
achieve. In the story, Walter s true insecurities can be seen on page I drive a man around in a
limousine all day, and I say Yes, sir; no, sir very good, sir; shall I take the drive, sir? Mama, that ain t
no kind of job...that ain t nothing at all. Walter feels that his job is pathetic and that he is a shame to
his father s memory. He feels that a man s role is to take care of his family, be strong, and to support
them financially. Because he feels this way Walter tends to lose sight of his true dream and only focus
on money. This is plainly seen as Mama asks on page Son, how come you talk so much about money?
and Walter replies, Because it is life, Mama! and he proceeds to say It was always money, Mama. We
just didn t know about it. After this is said there is a realization that Walter s intentions aren t so much
to support his family, but he is driven by money, for money. Therefore, Walter s true dream is delayed

Application Essay for School
From the first class I ever took in Finance, I was fascinated. I was drawn by the magic that intangible
things can create so much value and affect the economy so much. In combination with other business
classes I took, I had a chance to know the wide range of the business world. It was clear to me that no
other academic or career choice was possible for me.
In High School I developed an interest in computer programming and won second prize in a
competition in this subject in my home town. I also won a second prize in the China Mathematics
Competition. These successes would not have been possible without strong analytical and problem
solving skills which were further demonstrated when I undertook research about the mathematical

An Overview Of Lord Keeper Bacon At The Opening Of...
Primary Source Analysis An Overview By Lord Keeper Bacon at the Opening of Parliament, 12
January 1563 In 1563 Lord Keeper Bacon, a member of parliament, wrote a letter to Queen Elizabeth
I, which was presented to parliament on January 12, 1563, requesting the issues with the church
teaching be resolved. The letter argued that in order for Lord Keeper Bacon, as well as his lord
bishops, to truly understand the religion, Queen Elizabeth I must reform the issues regarding the
teachings of doctrine and discipline. This document is a speech on the matter of religious settlements
in the early Elizabethan era. It calls for clarifications of the teachings of doctrine and discipline, which
were necessary to sustain religion. Regarding the teachings of doctrine, the issues presented in this
speech pertain to ministers who were either accustomed to teaching with the beliefs of Catholicism or
who do not teach the true word of God. In addition, the issues regarding discipline are that the
ministers and members of the church may have become corrupt with no true disciplinary
consequences set forth as punishment. This document is written in a time where the religion had been
changed numerous times, leaving the people, including the author, Lord Keeper Bacon, confused.
Although somewhat unsure as to what the exact guidelines for the religious settlement would be, Lord
Keeper Bacon was not kept in the dark. Originally known as Nicholas Bacon, who would be

1970s Fashion Research Paper
1970s Fashion
The 1970s was an eventful decade. Many people fought for equality and peace. 1970s fashion wasn t
just clothing, it was showing their voice through the cultural and political times. The many styles and
looks of them showed people s personality and who they are too. The 70s was diverse in style,
makeup, hair, and changed over the years. In the 1970s fashion was multifarious. The main styles
were hippie, bohemian, sporty chic, disco, and a little bit of punk. Hippie style originated in the 60s,
but the style really blossomed in the 70s. Hippies loved the colorful, simple, expressive designs
(Brewer). Shoes wise hippies mostly liked gladiator sandals and ankle boots (Karapetyan). Another
popular style of the 70s was bohemian. The boho look was relaxed and carefree. Almost everything
that was bohemian was flowy and light weight with rich prints and patterns. Unlike boho, disco was

Automation and Intelligence Have Changed Agriculture
Agricultural production has increased manifold due to the advent of automation and intelligence in
various stages of a crop s life cycle. Introduction of such processes has led to a significant increase in
the output and reduction in the costs incurred in manual labour and other farm equipment. A scheme
where machine vision is implemented can be used to perceive the position of a fruit for harvesting.
This technology has been used to develop both land and aerial based systems for fruit detection and
harvesting. Machine vision in harvesting is broadly based on visual cues and properties of fruit.
Machine vision based systems have an advantage as apart from recognition of colour, texture and
shape of any object, numerical points for the object are also defined.
The aim of fruit detection is characterized by the following desirable outcomes:
1. Detection of each distinct fruit.
2. Discrimination of the detected fruit from the other parts of the foliage.
3. Localisation of the fruit.
Since its implementation to crop harvesting and other agricultural practices, a lot of attention has been
given to development in machine vision systems to achieve the abovementioned outcomes. But, all of
it has been limited to the field of research with very little commercial outlook. Though, research
outcomes may look bleak, it is a well accepted fact that to achieve very good incidences of fruit
detection a robust machine vision system is essential. This in turn will develop into a robot

Determination of a Rate Equation Essay
Determination of a Rate Equation
Rate equation has the form rate = k [A]x[B]y which shows how the rate of a chemical reaction
depends on the concentration of the reactants
(A B) and the rate constant k. The rate equation normally indicates what species are involved in the
rate determining step and how many species are involved.
A rate equation is used to describe how the concentration of a product increases or the concentration
of the reactants decreases with time, the equation also indicates how the concentration of one or more
reactants directly affects the rate. Occasionally it can even be the concentration of a product that
affects the rate. In general the rate equation for the reaction: A + B C + D

The Most Valuable Mechanisms Designed During The Late 1800...
Abstract
The Kinetoscope was one most valuable mechanisms designed in the late 1800 s. This remarkable
invention opened doors for the way that visuals and sound are produced in movies and television
today. However, it is unclear who actually gets credit for the Invention. This paper will enlighten you
on the accomplishments of many great inventors. You will be educated on how this device came
about. It will also unravel the mystery behind who should actually get credit for the Kinetoscope.
Introduction A common luxury in America today is television and movies, but have you ever
wondered how visual entertainment on screen began? Since the late 1800 s the way we view things in
cinema has changed profoundly. Living in the 21st Century, in which is the digital revolution, we no
longer have to leave our homes to see a movie or event. How did it all start? Who came up with the
idea? Who built the first camera? How did it have an impact on cinema today? Credit must be given to
an early motion picture device called the Kinetoscope, which set the standard for all cinematic
projections that we have today.
The Idea that Impacted Cinema
Thomas Edison, one of the greatest inventors known to man, came up with an idea to make an
instrument which does for the eye what the Phonograph has done for the ear. The Phonograph records
and reproduces things in motion and that is what Edison wanted for the Kinetoscope. In October 1888
Edison started organizing this invention. He

of a dishwasher? Probably not. Robots don t have to be a fancy human or animal shaped machines. It
can be something as simple as your cellphone. Some very common robots are washers, dishwashers,
automatic vacuums, and some voice activated devices. We have these robots to make everyday tasks
easier, to do a better job, or to do something that humans could never do. The three main components
of any given robot are the sensors, the actuators, and a computation process. The term robot comes

Gerald A. Sandusky Case Summary
When a case comes to the court that involves children or cases of child abuse, especially sexual abuse.
It becomes a tug of war debate between those that support harsher punishments to deter such a
horrendous crime as sexually abusing children, and those that support the idea that it is a illness that
requires medical treatment on the biological or psychological level. Then there is also the call for how
ethical it is to punish rather than treat such criminals.
In regards to the Gerald A. Sandusky case, which began in June 11th 2012 and ended on October 9th
2012. We are presented with a case where an individual was given unlimited access to young boys of
all ages, some from poor and underprivileged backgrounds. Of the 52 charges Mr. Sandusky received,
4 charges were initially dropped, leaving 48. On June 22, 2012, Sandusky was convicted of 45 counts
of sexual abuse. Sandusky was sentenced on October 9, 2012, to a minimum of 30 years and a
maximum of 60 years in prison (Klein, Tolson, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sandusky s case his actions of grooming, planning, using threats etc, show him to be a man who has
understanding of his actions and crimes, where others who put less thought and are much more rash
do not, tho neither criminal is absolved based on how well they hid their crimes. Sexual abuse of a
child with any method is a horrendous crime.
Is it ethical then to punish people who commit sexual abuse against children? Or should our approach
be treatment not punishment? This is an age old debate, while there have been attempts to treat the
disease of pedophilia, there are exceptions to this treatment whom despite it do reoffend. Counseling,
monitoring, medicating, and even chemical castration are some ways our society has developed to
treat the biological and psychological side of the argument

Five MaAm, By Michelle Obama

the well dressed woman quietly sitting next to him. The occupant grimly nods her careworn features,
the embodiment of disinterest; Her mind, a grey mist that obscure her innermost thoughts like a
sweeping, sullen, shroud. Michelle Obama, the senator s wife would soon be known as Michelle
Obama, the orator. The thought of delivering a requiem for her husband s political career elicits such
cynical mirth that would shame Voltaire s quips. Fortitude, that ironclad citadel is steadily eroded by

Anecdotes provide emphasis and familiarity through a consistent narrative; Michelle Obama utilizes
examples of her background to create a link between orator and audience. Obama s humble
background presents the picture of a blue collared father struggling to make ends meet while
providing for his children. As the prominent fixture in her childhood, her father is the rock (Obama,
line 54) that grounded her in society. The proletariat audience naturally sympathizes, but Mrs. Obama
s rhetorical fusilade now turns its attention to her husband s past. The candidate himself is indirectly
the subject of several anecdotes; Paragraph sixteen details Barack Obama socialist worldview as being
the culmination of generations of civil rights. This particular analogy serves the dual purpose of
legitimacy paired with vision. True, the young Illinois senator possesses the dynamism of Martin
Luther King Jr. along with a forward looking vision. Examples of the aspiring politician s
magnanimity appear in paragraphs twenty and twenty one are lauded: It s what did on the streets of
Chicago setting up job training and after school programs to keep children safe (Obama lines 70 72).
Intentional or not, the inclusion of anecdotal evidence as a rhetorical tool crafts an image of Barack
Obama as the people s hero.
The audience finds itself further beguiled by the

Reactance Window Drying
Reactance Window drying: Reactance Technology is a novel drying system. It uses circulating water
at atmospheric pressure as a means to carry thermal energy to material to be dehydrated.[2] Infrared
Zone Drying: It uses infrared energy applied to a thin film of product in a series of zones. This allows
product to be maintained at a low temperature to avoid damage while in its liquid state. DRYING
FUNDAMENTALS Drying involves the removal of moisture in thermal drying; this is achieved by
give the heat to the product. The heat increases the vapor pressure of the moisture in the product above
that of the surrounding air. Pressure and thermal cause the moisture, liquid and vapor, to move to the
surface of the product. Evaporation takes place and water vapor is transferred to the surrounding air.
This air may become saturated but the process of drying continues if this moist air is replaced by less
saturated air. In a crop there is a combination of free and bound moisture. Free moisture is water that
can move through the product in an unrestricted way. Its movement is not dependent on the internal
structure of the crop. The vaporization evaporation process is at a maximum when there is sufficient
free water in the product to replace that evaporated at its surface. As this moisture is evaporated the
moisture content of the product falls and the product temperature is close to the wet bulb temperature
of the drying air. This period in the drying process is usually known as

The Pearl Harbor Essay
The Pearl Harbor Spies On 7 December 1941, the Japan Naval fleet launched a precise and
devastating bombing of Pearl Harbor, which stunned the United States. The Japanese attacked Pearl
Harbor to neutralize the U.S. Pacific Naval Fleet, so they could advance into Malaya and the Dutch
East Indies to access natural resources to further their war effort. However, the Pearl Harbor bombing
became an everlasting memory to Americans. Two little known contributors to this event had a
profound effect on the planning and execution of the attack. This paper will explore the actions of
Bernard Julius Otto Kuehn and Takeo Yoshikawa, two spies who initially went undetected to collect
intelligence on the U.S. Naval fleet, and how their actions affected the U.S.
Background
Bernard Julius Otto Kuehn served as a midshipman in the German Navy during World War I and was
a member of the German Navy s secret police from 1928 through 1930. Kuehn also studied to become
a physician after World War I. When the Nazi party took control in Germany, Dr. Kuehn became a
minor official in the Nazi secret police, or Gestapo, and formed close ties with the head of the
organization, Heinrich Himmler. Kuehn was married to Friedel Kuehn and had two children, Hans
Joachim, six years old, and Suzie Ruth, seventeen years old (Jamison, 2014). At the age of 17, Ruth

If You Love Good Food And Love Eating Then Chances Are
If you love good food and love eating then chances are you can turn into a great cook if you have the
interest to learn. I personally started to learn cooking as a child only to give mom a break in the
kitchen, this developed into an interest that I have pursued ever since. Cooking to me should be quick,
not very laborious and taste very good. In order to become a fairly good cook I followed these steps
below and hope it is of help to you too.1) Always be willing to learn new techniques, tips and ideas
that will help improve the taste of your dishes. Do not be shy or proud to ask another person about
their recipe or techniques used.2) Dedicate a spiral notebook to writing favorite recipes from

Artichokes can be a little intimidating to those who have never cooked them. They look like
something inedible, but they really are very good when properly prepared, and they are very easy to
cook. Once you discover the best way to prepare and cook artichokes they are sure to become a
healthy favorite. Consider the following information on the best way to choose, cook, and serve
artichokes, and make artichokes a part of your regular diet. Get the kids to try these delicious and
nutritious green veggies. Chances are they will enjoy artichokes too! Selecting Artichokes Choosing
artichokes can be just as confusing as how to cook these tasty vegetables. When shopping for
artichokes, keep in mind that smaller selections have leaves that are tender, and larger ones have larger
hearts. Choosing the best is a matter of personal preference. Also, longer stems can be a plus if you
choose to cook the stems. The stems make a delicious appetizer when peeled and boiled until tender,
or they can be included on the same serving dish as whole artichokes. The Best Method of Preparation

Women s Influence On Female Body Experience
A report by the New York Times calculated that there are more big companies ran by men named John
than there are big companies ran by women in the United States. While women are beginning to take
on larger roles in corporations, governments, and society, as a whole, there is still the very large issue
of small representation of women in leadership roles. Through discussing Marion Young s On Female
Body Experience I intend to argue that when women face a limited range of bodily comportment, it
translates to a limited ability to reach our full potential as people. Women feel they cannot take up
space and are unlikely to assert themselves in ways that draw attention to ourselves, women are in

Young states that, woman is thereby both culturally and socially denied the subjectivity, autonomy,
and creativity that are definitive of being human, and that in patriarchal society are accorded to men.
(pg. 25)
Men and women often use their bodies in different ways, this is not breaking news. However, the
reasons and consequences behind this difference is important. The situations women will often put
themselves in will vary greatly from men because of the perceived abilities of our bodies. Most
women would not accept a job on a construction site because of a lack of belief of what the female
body is capable of. Similarly, women who apply to these types of jobs are often not hired. When
lifting objects, or using force to accomplish a task, we frequently fail to summon the full possibilities
of our muscular coordination, position, poise, and bearing. (pg. 26) This is, in part, because feminine
bodily existence is overlaid with immanence. (pg. 29) Instead of using her whole body, a woman will
concentrate motion in one part of the body alone, while the rest of the body remains relatively
immobile. (pg. 29) While men often experience the full ability of their bodies, and therefore, can fully
accomplish, without issue any task they want, this is not often the case for women.

The constructive feedback depends on the tracked information from individual interactions with the
learning activities.
2 E Learning Process
E learning is a process of knowledge construction that involves stakeholders participating in several
online activities such as content authoring, assessment and collaboration. They participate in the
different activities so that they can achieve their learning goals. As Constructivism states, learners play
an active role and take on responsibility to construct their own knowledge and meaning [10, 11, 12].
This active role is clearly witnessed in e learning environments which are designed to offer
personalised learning process. A personalised learning process is one where learners use LMS to
interact with learning content designed to suit their own learning styles with the aim of achieving new
knowledge. These LMS are currently trying to cope with the paradigm shift from teacher centred to
learner centred. In learner centred learning, learners construct knowledge through inquiry,
communication and creative thinking. They use different learning styles to make their own judgement
hence making meaning out of the learning process. The different ways by which information is
presented to the learners affects how they act on it. The individual learner s actions become the basis
of what feedback should be generated for them. The seven principles of good practice [13] act as a
benchmark for guiding e learning

Essay on The Variety of Themes in Othello
The Variety of Themes in Othello
In the Shakespearean tragedy Othello the number and description of themes is open to discussion.
With the help of literary critics, we can analyze this subject in detail.
In the essay Wit and Witchcraft: an Approach to Othello Robert B. Heilman discusses the ancient s
instinctive reaction to the love theme of the play:
Before coming directly to the forming of the love theme that differentiates Othello from other
Shakespeare plays that utilize the same theme, I turn arbitrarily to Iago to inspect a distinguishing
mark of his of which the relevance to thematic form in the play will appear a little later. When Iago
with unperceived scoffing reminds Roderigo, who is drawn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Hardly. Campbell categorizes Othello as a study in jealousy :
Othello has suffered less in its modern interpretation than any other of Shakespeare s tragedies, it
would seem. So insistently did Shakespeare keep this tragedy unified about the theme of jealousy and
the central victims of the passion, so obviously did he mould his plot about the black Moor and the
cunning Iago and the victims of their jealousy that no interpreter has been able to ignore the obvious
intention of the author. Yet if we study the contemporary interpretations of the passion here portrayed,
we find that Shakespeare was following in detail a broader and more significant analysis of the
passion than has in modern days been understood. The play is, however, clearly a study in jealousy
and in jealousy as it affects those of different races. (148)
Can we narrow down the concept of jealousy in this play to a specific type? Helen Gardner in Othello:
A Tragedy of Beauty and Fortune sees this play as a study in sexual jealousy:
Othello is not a study in pride, egoism, or self deception: its subject is sexual jealousy, loss of faith in
a form which involves the whole personality at the profound point where body meets spirit. The
solution which Othello cannot accept is Iago s: Put up with it. This is as impossible as that Hamlet
should, like Claudius, behave as if the past were done with and only the present mattered. . . . (144)

The Art of Courtly Love, Consolation of Philosophy, and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Part 1:
Consolation of Philosophy, written by Boethius 1. Boethius was a popular member of the senatorial
family. He was a philosopher that agreed with Plato that government should be solely in the hands of
wise men. After becoming consul, charges of treason were brought against him. He lived in a time in
Roman society when everyone was mainly Christian. He was an Arian Christian and believed that
Christ was neither truly God nor truly man. Because of his beliefs, he was seen as a heretic in the eyes

Philosophy argues that misfortune is more beneficial than good fortune, for good fortune deceives, but
misfortune teaches (Boethius, 40). The valuable lessons that bad luck and misfortune teaches a person
is to live life modestly, appreciate everything that you have, be humble, and don t take anything for
granted. Lady Philosophy advises to reach the point in the wheel where good and bad fortune are
equal and then a person won t need either to be happy. If you have God and know yourself, than a
person doesn t need either to be truly happy. 4. Boethius relates the human experience of destiny/fate
and the divine foreknowledge/providence by interpreting their meanings in real life. Providence is the
immovable and simple form of all things which come into being, while Fate is the moving connection
and temporal order of all things which the divine simplicity has decided to bring into being (Boethius,
92). Boethius says that providence is what happens in one second for God and fate is what happens in
the course of a lifetime for human beings. He suggests that God knows the end of our lives right from
the beginning but he doesn t necessarily know each individual action or thought that it will take for a
person to get there. Fate on the other hand is free will. Human beings determine what courses of
actions to take in a lifetime, but ultimately, God

YA Literature has been around since the 19th century. During that time books for
children and teens were about the right morals and their religion. It was thought that children s
and teens should not be exposed to fictional stories. Then later down the years, YA Literature
developed into something else in the 1960s. According to Ashley Strickland, a reporter for CNN,
the term young adult was coined by Young Adult Library Services Association during the
1960s to represent the 12 18 age range . YA Literature is targeted at teens around this age.
Also, in regards to this article, these books were single problem novels and teens were

books about fiction or more like paranormal and dystopian stories? Well Teens are caught
between two worlds, childhood and adulthood, and in YA, they can navigate those two worlds
and sometimes dualities of other worlds (Strickland). They can imagine what could ve

There are many examples of iconic animals that we take for granted when it comes to thoughts of

The Veil By Jean Dubois
For DuBois, the veil refers to three things. First, the veil suggests to the darker skin of Blacks, which
is a physical difference from whiteness. Secondly, the veil suggests white people s lack of clarity to

outside of what white America describes and provides for them. Dubois believes that socially present

Literary Devices In Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet Literary Analysis Essay Literary devices are reveal several details about characters
in stories, movies, plays, and other writings. Oxymorons are two opposites placed right next to each
other. A paradox is simply a oxymoron except seperated and placed in a sentence. Lastly, a
juxtaposition is contrasting two objects such as characters, places, and even their actions. William
Shakespeare successfully added all of these literary devices into his famous play Romeo and Juliet.
Shakespeare indirectly revealed character traits for Romeo, Juliet, and Friar Laurence by using all
three of these literary devices. Shakespeare used the figurative language to indirectly describe who
Romeo is. Romeo and Mercutio argue with each other about the importance of dreams (1.4.11 103).
During Mercutio s Queen Mab speech, it reveals that Romeo is a dreamer and Mercutio is not. This is
a juxtaposition because Mercutio and Romeo have two different mindsets on dreams. An example of
Shakespeare using a oxymoron to indirectly describe Romeo is when Romeo states, Feather of lead, ...

paradox because it talks about day in night which are two opposites in a sentence. Juliet tells the Nurse
as she finds out Romeo is apart of the Montagues: My only love sprung from my only hate (1.5.136).
This clarified that she is a risk taker and very rebellious for still wanting to love Romeo. Also, this is
another paradox because her only love came from her only hate which is two opposites in a sentence.

1. Poodles are one of the dog breeds that require very high maintenance. Their curly coat needs to be
clipped regularly every six to eight weeks. They are considered the most expensive dogs in terms of
grooming. This is because Poodles have hair coats rather than fur. Hair coats are hypoallergenic and
rarely shed, but which grow continuously.
2. Poodles are naturally proud and smart. The combination of the two can sometimes lead to
stubbornness. Train them as early as you can so they will grow up to be well mannered dogs.
3. Poodles love to socialize and please other people. Do not expect them to be alright when you leave
at home for long periods. Lack of socialization can prevent Poodles from becoming well adjusted

Response To Nozick s Mental State Theory Of Wellbeig
Hedonism is a form of wellbeing theory about what is best in our interest and what is good for us.
According to hedonism, wellbeing relies solely on pleasure experienced. Although there are some
hedonist theories that values extrinsic pleasure, in this essay we will be looking at hedonism that
values pleasure felt from inside, i.e., hedonism as a mental state theory of wellbeing. This theory has
met quite a numbers of objections. We will focus on one such popular objection developed by Robert
Nozick. Nozick challenged the mental state theories of wellbeing with his thought experiment about
an experience machine. This objection is sought out as ultimate weapon to knockdown hedonism
(Weijers 2010, pp. 1). There has been attempts made to defend hedonism from this objection. Few of
these responses will be discussed to determine if they are able to successfully overcome Nozick s
objection. Pleasure and pain mentioned will automatically refer to the intrinsic sensations, not physical

truth and pursue another interest that you are talented at, for it would give you more pleasure in long

more pain than pleasure. Therefore, people choose reality over experience machine because reality
could provide more pleasure than the experience machine. Nozick is wrong for indicating that there

In the Niobrara s Smoky Hill and Benton, Inoceramid clam (giant clam) fossils were found. These
three formations are of Late Cretaceous.
The Smoky Hill Member is mainly a calcareous mudstone, a rock outcrop that looks and behaves
mostly like mudstone, but does have some characteristics of a limestone, like fizzing. The Smoky Hill
is the youngest of the members. It is fine grained, dark to light gray, mudstone which breaks in

This sandstone is a dark ish gray brown, medium to fine grained sandstone. This sandstone was the
most hidden of all all the members, making it seem more easily erodible. Sandstones are usually
deposited at a higher energy because as the energy level lowers the force can not longer hold the
heavier particle. So, not only is the Codell member the oldest, but it had the most energy. Sandstone
can be deposited at the beach, the shore of a lake, deltas or deserts.
The Inoceramid clams found in the Niobrara formations leads to the assumption that the mudstone and
limestone were deposited at the sea floor. Clams today are mostly found in the deep burrows of mud,
and with the principle of uniformitarianism you can deduce that those clams were also most likely
living on the sea floor. The clams living at the sea floor would be supported by the fact that the clam
fossils were found in mudstone and limestone because mudstone is usually in lower energy

Ford Mustang And The Chevrolet Camaro
GM and Ford team up again, but there are other partnerships between automotive rivals to consider.
Who would have thunk it?! For 2017, the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro will share a 10
speed automatic transmission as a result of a collaborative engineering effort between General Motors
and the Ford Motor Company.
How s that again?
In 2013, Detroit s top rivals signed an agreement to jointly develop new 9 and 10 speed automatic
transmissions with front and rear wheel drive variants. The collaborative effort means both companies
are able to design, engineer, establish, test, corroborate and distribute new transmissions at a faster
rate and for a lower cost than they would have on their own.
Improved Performance, Better Efficiency
The effort has yielded a new 10 speed automatic transmission, one that will find its way into various
models over the next few years. That the two competing pony cars will share the same transmission
means one less important edge for both manufacturers. Instead, the two companies will have to find
other ways to beat each other with such factors as horsepower, steering and handling, and
aerodynamics providing key differences.
At the same time, buyers of both models will enjoy two important benefits 10 speed transmissions
provide better off the line acceleration with a shorter first gear and improved fuel economy with the
taller top gears. (Jim, see the Popular Mechanics explanation) Incidentally, the 10 speed will be the

Support For Prisoners s Families
5.14 Support available to prisoner s families
In relation to the support the professionals could provide to families, the findings were consistent with
those of Morgan et al (2012). The education professionals appeared to currently offer the most support
to families and were able to identify multiple ways in which they have previously worked with both
children and carers. These interventions have included one to one sessions with prisoner s children,
emotional support for caregivers, advocacy in professional meetings and referrals to other agencies. It
was clear from the findings that the home school liaison officer had the most experience through
working directly with five cases of parental imprisonment. This experience is presumably gained
through being a frontline practitioner within a school as their role will be to support children and
families with any issues they may be experiencing and work as a gate keeper to other services.
Interestingly, the head teacher within the same school had only encountered one case of parental
imprisonment. This limited involvement may stem from the demanding nature of the professionals
role in managing all members of staff and policies. Potentially cases may have needed to reach a
certain threshold to receive attention of the head teacher within the school. This finding has reaffirmed
the importance of early help strategies and the important role professionals such as home school
liaison officers can have in supporting families both

The Fall And Rise Of Strategic Planning
In his article, The Fall and Rise of Strategic Planning, Henry Mintzberg (1994) provides his views on
the process of strategic planning. He offers that most companies and organizations start a strategic
planning process with little understanding of the definition or actual purpose of planning. He tends to
admonish much of the conventional understanding concerning strategic planning and proposes his
interpretations. He states that the most successful strategies are visions, not plans (Mintzberg, 1994, p.
107). Mintzberg further states that the strategy making process should include summarizing the data
that the manager has acquired from all sources and then synthesizing that data into a vision of the path
which the company should follow (Mintzberg, 1994). He continues his ideas by stating that Planners
should make their contribution around the strategy making process rather than inside it (Mintzberg,
1994, p. 108). He believes that the planner should not be the one creating the plan, but rather the one
who supplies the needed analysis, or data, to the strategic thinkers. An analogy that comes to mind is
in my previous job whereby the exceptions processing representatives were a type of advanced data
entry representatives. Not only would they extrapolate the data received, but they were also required
to forward it to the proper department for processing. They did not make any decision on how to use
the data, but instead, directed that data to the group that

Introduction
reception station
At the beginning, the operation of building a reception station required considerable means, and only
specialized institutions had access to these techniques. Nowadays, because of the recent development
of micro computers and signal processing, it is now possible for even a small institution to have its
own station able to receive net images from certain meteorological satellites such as NOAA and
METEOSAT satellites with affordable costs [1]
The techniques of weather satellites images reception has quickly evolved in the last decade.

A major drawback of using GEO satellites is that the systems require the use of industry grade
parabolic dishes along with complex RF circuitry. [1]
The NOAA satellites belong to the category of the Polar Orbiting Satellites[1]
From the unique vantage point of space , those NOAA satellites bring us information about cloud
formations and movements, precipitation amounts, temperatures, ocean currents, sea surface
temperatures, air and water pollutants, drought and floods, severe weather conditions, vegetation,
insect infestations, ozone content of the atmosphere, volcano eruptions, and other factors that affect
our daily lives.
APT
Much of this information is transmitted from these satellites via direct readout to ground stations
where it can be displayed and analyzed. These Direct Readout Services were pioneered more than 45
years ago by the first weather satellites and have been expanded and operated in the United States by
the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Most weather satellites offer two kinds of picture services, a digital transmission format with high
resolution data named HRPT, and an analogical transmission format of lower resolution APT.
SDR
This APT transmission format needs limited technical resources for reception and decoding.

Money And Money In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
Last year alone Americans spent 70.15 billion dollars on lottery tickets. This exemplifies people s
desire for money and all the luxurious factors that coincide with wealth. For example, in the poem,
The Canterbury Tales, written by Geoffrey Chaucer, a major theme of money and greed is discussed in
the Pardoner s Tale. The story shared by the Pardoner involves three drunken and greedy men who go
on a hunt for death, but in the process they encounter gold sprawled out beneath a tree. Each
individual devises a plan so they could gain the most money, however when all their plans occur it
leads to all three of the men dying due their abundance of greed. Overall, this story can teach people in
our current society that people s desire for wealth and money never comes without a serious cost.
Since the beginning of time the drive to acquire wealth was always a prominent thought in people s
mind. People believe that with money comes happiness and power. However, in today s world and in
the story told by the Pardoner in Canterbury Tales many instances prove that theory to be wrong. For
example, the Pardoner a man of pure acquisitiveness completes his job of preaching about avarice for
the sole purpose of gaining money from the people he preaches too. As stated in the following line, the
Pardoner values wealth immensely and believes it will provide him with everything he needs in life,
The curse of avarice and cupidity Is all my sermon, for it frees the pelf. Out come the pence,

Why Is It Necessary To Use Personal Devices In Healthcare
According to the (AANA, 2013) all healthcare professionals properly assess whether it is necessary to
use a mobile device when caring for a patient, and make a decision that will have a positive impact on
the delivery of care rather than jeopardizing that process in any way. The use of personal devices can
benefit the patient and the way nurses care for them. For example, smartphones, laptop or tablets in
healthcare settings has the potential to enhance productivity, lower failure to respond to patients on
time, and increase information access and communications among other healthcare providers. Equally,
the use of these devices can also have a negative impact on our patients. Patient safety with the use of
personal devices includes the

the first ten amendments of the constitution, ratified in 1791 and offering freedoms like speech,

Criminal and Civil Law in the English Legal System Essay
One of the main differences between criminal cases and civil cases is that they are held in different
courts, this is because there is a significant distinction between a civil wrong and a criminal wrong.
Crimes are considered to be a type of wrongdoing, however civil wrongs tend to have only an impact
on the parties involved in the case. For example: a breach of contract. Where as criminal wrongs tend
to have an impact on society itself. For example: a murder, theft or rape.
Criminal law is dealt with in the Magistrates court and if very serious in the Crown court. It is said to
be more difficult to win a case in the Magistrates court and Crown court than in a civil court as in a

Magistrates also determine, subject to appeal, whether the defendant should be kept in custody
pending trial. Magistrates can impose conditions to meet their concerns about granting bail. Courts
have limited information on which to base bail decisions, with the exception of experimental bail
information schemes involving the probation service. Normally prosecutors and sometimes defence
lawyers make representations as to whether bail should be granted or not. There is a high degree of
correlation between prosecutors representations and magistrates decisions. One problem the society
has with magistrates is that sections of the community are underrepresented in the lay magistracy. The
lay magistracy remains predominately white, middle aged, middle class and conservative.
The other court of trial for a criminal case is the Crown Court. Indictable offences like murder can
only be dealt with in this court and also triable offences for example, all theft cases. An accused has
the absolute right of trial in the Crown Court but if he/she elects summary trial the magistrates may
decline to hear the case. Even if they do they may commit a convicted person to the Crown Court for
sentence if they believe their own sentencing proves to be inadequate. Three types of judges sit in the
court High Court Judges, circuit judges and recorders. The latter are part time and hear the less serious

The Bolshevik Revolution, By Edward Carr
In his work The Bolshevik Revolution, Edward Carr expands through a detailed historical account
how exactly it was that the Russian councils took power in October 1917. Sociological frameworks
will also allow for a deeper understanding of the social unrest that led to the culmination of the
October Revolution of 1917 and the unintended consequence of the bureaucratization of the state. To
fully comprehend the events that led the council to take power, it is necessary to acknowledge both the
institutional breakdown that is derived from an institutional lens while at the same time challenging its
limits through a Neo Marxist dialogue. Therefore, the focus of the institutional structures that are
discussed by Theda Skocpol will best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From February to July, there were protests and constant debate, in hopes of change. However, Lenin s
theses are rejected and the councils continue to support the provisional government because they re
following the orthodox Marxist stages model.
The councils, who were mostly orthodox Marxists, first resisted Lenin s theses because it was difficult
to take this anti Marxist articulation seriously. In other words, they only saw it tangible for Russia to
go through a preliminary stage in order to reach a fully capitalist society, then only through Marxian
revolution get to socialism. Lenin did, however, articulate in his Theses the need to bring rise to both
capitalism and socialism simultaneously. Even though the council s shut down his view, after the
Kornilov affair and the breakdown of the institution, the councils begin to lean on Lenin. Which
results in the successful takeover of the councils. It too can be argued that as a great leader Lenin won
the people and a shift of sympathy towards the Bolsheviks, who promised everything. The conditions
which Lenin had foreseen in his April theses as justifying the transition to the second stage of the
revolution were maturing fast (Carr, 1985: 93).
After the Tsar Voluntarily abdicated in February 1917, due to vast discontent across all the social
classes, it brought up the emergence of dual power . This

Analysis Of The Battle Of Shiloh
For my battle analysis assignment, I have chosen to examine the battle of Shiloh. This battle began
April 6 7 1862, in the Pittsburg Landing area of Tennessee. In Hebrew Shiloh, means peace
nonetheless, this battlefield was far from a place of peace from April 6 7 1862. This battle was the
bloodiest civil war battle to date and occurred between the Union and Confederate armies. Having
analyzed the battle from multiple sources, I have discovered a number of operational, tactical, and
logistical mistakes that contributed to the Confederate losses suffered. My sources include
documentaries, historical videos, books, and articles from historians and civil war experts who have
spent their lives studying and dissecting the civil war, its battles, commanders, and tactics. As part of
my analysis, I will highlight the Confederate mistakes that could have produced a different outcome of
this historical battle.
In setting the stage for the battle of Shiloh let us first briefly discuss the civil war. The civil war began
with its first battle on 12 April, 1861 at Fort Sumter, South Carolina to the last battle at Anderson,
South Carolina on May 1, 1865 (Civil War Trust , 2014 ) between the Union and Confederate Armies.
The civil war consisted of nearly 50 major battles; the battle of Shiloh was the first scandalous and
essentially paramount battle. (Civil War Battles, 2016) The armies of the north were fighting to reunite
the nation, while the armies of the south were fighting

Comparing Piaget s Theory And Child Development
Introduction
Jean Piaget s Background
Jean Piaget was born in Switzerland in 1896. Based upon his observations, he concluded that children

involves changes in cognitive process and abilities.

Furthermore, the concrete stage starts about first grade to early adolescence. During this stage, a child
has developed different views or opinions which need to be satisfied. Their accommodation had

concrete or observable phenomena at which in the past he needed work by himself to understand.
Lastly, he will going through the formal operations which is adolescence. At this stage, the persons

  • 3. Kurt Cobain s Life Drugs have taken and changed the lives of many, even people who seem invincible, our idols. Many famous musicians and actors have lost their lives due to drugs or alcohol. Three examples would be Kurt Cobain, Scott Weiland, and Layne Staley, three of the most famous musicians of their time. Each of their lives were taken by drugs, and some recently. They were all born in the same year of 1967, but all died at different times. Kurt Cobain, singer and guitarist of Nirvana, was 27 when his heroin addiction caused him to take his own life. Throughout his teenage years, he experimented with prescription drugs and marijuana. He began using a drug known as Hash in 1984, which was popular in his hometown of Aberdeen, Washington. His death is still shrouded in mystery, whether it was a real suicide, or a murder covered up to look like to a suicide. Either way, his death silenced the people of his generation. He was an inspiration to millions of people across the world, and his death came as a shock. Scott Weiland, former singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, struggled with substance abuse throughout his whole life. When he was young, he showed an interest in singing. In high school he formed his first band Mighty Joe Young, which eventually became Stone Temple Pilots. They were one of the biggest bands of the 90 s. Scott first got into his drug habits in high school, and was sent to rehab when his parents found drugs in his room. In 1995, after his band s second album release, he was arrested for drug possession. This brush with the law did little to quell Weiland s appetite for drugs (Scott Weiland Biography). At one point, he lived in a Los Angeles hotel, shooting up heroin with Kurt Cobain s wife, Courtney Love. Weiland s personal addictions impacted his band s ability to tour in 1996, so he subsequently parted ways with the band for a time. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Dorothy Parker s Waltz The Waltz by Dorothy Parker, published in 1933 in the New Yorker, is a short story about a female protagonist who describes her dance with a man through an internal monologue, interrupted by her direct speech to her dance partner. The story broaches the issues of the female s social position towards men and how they are conformed to society s conventions. While her thoughts reveal in a cynical tone how disgusted and dismissive she feels about the waltz with the man, her external speech expresses the wish to continue dancing. This paper will analyze the narrator s voices and on the one hand, point out her position to her dance partner. On the other hand, it will critically view the representation of the dance in reference to her living condition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Parker 50) Not only does the protagonist express her feelings towards the man but she also reveals what the waltz actually stands for in her narration. She feels to be trapped in her position as a wife and dancing partner. The man she dances with is her putative husband and the waltz they are dancing is a symbol for their marriage. Scared that this relationship will be going on like this , she wonder[s] why she didn t tell him [she] was tired . This statement shows resignation and exhaustion because she cannot be honest and stand up for herself as a married woman. Moreover, she does not feel any vivid emotions anymore next to her husband, is [...] past all feelings now (Parker 51) and remembers melancholy the days she was happily unmarried and lived an easy, peaceful time . She imagines further that the music would almost stop, so she knows it is rather unrealistic for them to stop dancing and, hence, meaning to be split up. • 8. An Overview Of Lord Keeper Bacon At The Opening Of... Primary Source Analysis An Overview By Lord Keeper Bacon at the Opening of Parliament, 12 January 1563 In 1563 Lord Keeper Bacon, a member of parliament, wrote a letter to Queen Elizabeth I, which was presented to parliament on January 12, 1563, requesting the issues with the church teaching be resolved. The letter argued that in order for Lord Keeper Bacon, as well as his lord bishops, to truly understand the religion, Queen Elizabeth I must reform the issues regarding the teachings of doctrine and discipline. This document is a speech on the matter of religious settlements in the early Elizabethan era. It calls for clarifications of the teachings of doctrine and discipline, which were necessary to sustain religion. Regarding the teachings of doctrine, the issues presented in this speech pertain to ministers who were either accustomed to teaching with the beliefs of Catholicism or who do not teach the true word of God. In addition, the issues regarding discipline are that the ministers and members of the church may have become corrupt with no true disciplinary consequences set forth as punishment. This document is written in a time where the religion had been changed numerous times, leaving the people, including the author, Lord Keeper Bacon, confused. Although somewhat unsure as to what the exact guidelines for the religious settlement would be, Lord Keeper Bacon was not kept in the dark. • 10. Automation and Intelligence Have Changed Agriculture Agricultural production has increased manifold due to the advent of automation and intelligence in various stages of a crop s life cycle. Introduction of such processes has led to a significant increase in the output and reduction in the costs incurred in manual labour and other farm equipment. A scheme where machine vision is implemented can be used to perceive the position of a fruit for harvesting. This technology has been used to develop both land and aerial based systems for fruit detection and harvesting. Machine vision in harvesting is broadly based on visual cues and properties of fruit. Machine vision based systems have an advantage as apart from recognition of colour, texture and shape of any object, numerical points for the object are also defined. The aim of fruit detection is characterized by the following desirable outcomes: 1. Detection of each distinct fruit. 2. Discrimination of the detected fruit from the other parts of the foliage. 3. Localisation of the fruit. Since its implementation to crop harvesting and other agricultural practices, a lot of attention has been given to development in machine vision systems to achieve the abovementioned outcomes. But, all of it has been limited to the field of research with very little commercial outlook. Though, research outcomes may look bleak, it is a well accepted fact that to achieve very good incidences of fruit detection a robust machine vision system is essential. • 13. The Most Valuable Mechanisms Designed During The Late 1800... Abstract The Kinetoscope was one most valuable mechanisms designed in the late 1800 s. This remarkable invention opened doors for the way that visuals and sound are produced in movies and television today. However, it is unclear who actually gets credit for the Invention. This paper will enlighten you on the accomplishments of many great inventors. You will be educated on how this device came about. It will also unravel the mystery behind who should actually get credit for the Kinetoscope. Introduction A common luxury in America today is television and movies, but have you ever wondered how visual entertainment on screen began? Since the late 1800 s the way we view things in cinema has changed profoundly. Living in the 21st Century, in which is the digital revolution, we no longer have to leave our homes to see a movie or event. How did it all start? Who came up with the idea? Who built the first camera? How did it have an impact on cinema today? Credit must be given to an early motion picture device called the Kinetoscope, which set the standard for all cinematic projections that we have today. The Idea that Impacted Cinema Thomas Edison, one of the greatest inventors known to man, came up with an idea to make an instrument which does for the eye what the Phonograph has done for the ear. The Phonograph records and reproduces things in motion and that is what Edison wanted for the Kinetoscope. In October 1888 Edison started organizing this invention. He ... It becomes a tug of war debate between those that support harsher punishments to deter such a horrendous crime as sexually abusing children, and those that support the idea that it is a illness that requires medical treatment on the biological or psychological level. Then there is also the call for how ethical it is to punish rather than treat such criminals. In regards to the Gerald A. Sandusky case, which began in June 11th 2012 and ended on October 9th 2012. We are presented with a case where an individual was given unlimited access to young boys of all ages, some from poor and underprivileged backgrounds. • 17. Reactance Window Drying Reactance Window drying: Reactance Technology is a novel drying system. It uses circulating water at atmospheric pressure as a means to carry thermal energy to material to be dehydrated.[2] Infrared Zone Drying: It uses infrared energy applied to a thin film of product in a series of zones. This allows product to be maintained at a low temperature to avoid damage while in its liquid state. DRYING FUNDAMENTALS Drying involves the removal of moisture in thermal drying; this is achieved by give the heat to the product. The heat increases the vapor pressure of the moisture in the product above that of the surrounding air. Pressure and thermal cause the moisture, liquid and vapor, to move to the surface of the product. Evaporation takes place and water vapor is transferred to the surrounding air. This air may become saturated but the process of drying continues if this moist air is replaced by less saturated air. In a crop there is a combination of free and bound moisture. Free moisture is water that can move through the product in an unrestricted way. Its movement is not dependent on the internal structure of the crop. The vaporization evaporation process is at a maximum when there is sufficient free water in the product to replace that evaporated at its surface. As this moisture is evaporated the moisture content of the product falls and the product temperature is close to the wet bulb temperature of the drying air. This period in the drying process is usually known as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The situations women will often put themselves in will vary greatly from men because of the perceived abilities of our bodies. Heilman discusses the ancient s instinctive reaction to the love theme of the play: Before coming directly to the forming of the love theme that differentiates Othello from other Shakespeare plays that utilize the same theme, I turn arbitrarily to Iago to inspect a distinguishing mark of his of which the relevance to thematic form in the play will appear a little later. Campbell categorizes Othello as a study in jealousy : Othello has suffered less in its modern interpretation than any other of Shakespeare s tragedies, it would seem. So insistently did Shakespeare keep this tragedy unified about the theme of jealousy and the central victims of the passion, so obviously did he mould his plot about the black Moor and the cunning Iago and the victims of their jealousy that no interpreter has been able to ignore the obvious intention of the author. Yet if we study the contemporary interpretations of the passion here portrayed, we find that Shakespeare was following in detail a broader and more significant analysis of the passion than has in modern days been understood. The play is, however, clearly a study in jealousy and in jealousy as it affects those of different races. (148) Can we narrow down the concept of jealousy in this play to a specific type? Helen Gardner in Othello: A Tragedy of Beauty and Fortune sees this play as a study in sexual jealousy: Othello is not a study in pride, egoism, or self deception: its subject is sexual jealousy, loss of faith in a form which involves the whole personality at the profound point where body meets spirit. • 38. Support For Prisoners s Families 5.14 Support available to prisoner s families In relation to the support the professionals could provide to families, the findings were consistent with those of Morgan et al (2012). The education professionals appeared to currently offer the most support to families and were able to identify multiple ways in which they have previously worked with both children and carers. These interventions have included one to one sessions with prisoner s children, emotional support for caregivers, advocacy in professional meetings and referrals to other agencies. It was clear from the findings that the home school liaison officer had the most experience through working directly with five cases of parental imprisonment. This experience is presumably gained through being a frontline practitioner within a school as their role will be to support children and families with any issues they may be experiencing and work as a gate keeper to other services. Interestingly, the head teacher within the same school had only encountered one case of parental imprisonment. This limited involvement may stem from the demanding nature of the professionals role in managing all members of staff and policies. Potentially cases may have needed to reach a certain threshold to receive attention of the head teacher within the school. This finding has reaffirmed the importance of early help strategies and the important role professionals such as home school liaison officers can have in supporting families both ... • 40. The Fall And Rise Of Strategic Planning In his article, The Fall and Rise of Strategic Planning, Henry Mintzberg (1994) provides his views on the process of strategic planning. He offers that most companies and organizations start a strategic planning process with little understanding of the definition or actual purpose of planning. He tends to admonish much of the conventional understanding concerning strategic planning and proposes his interpretations. He states that the most successful strategies are visions, not plans (Mintzberg, 1994, p. 107). Mintzberg further states that the strategy making process should include summarizing the data that the manager has acquired from all sources and then synthesizing that data into a vision of the path which the company should follow (Mintzberg, 1994). He continues his ideas by stating that Planners should make their contribution around the strategy making process rather than inside it (Mintzberg, 1994, p. 108). He believes that the planner should not be the one creating the plan, but rather the one who supplies the needed analysis, or data, to the strategic thinkers. An analogy that comes to mind is in my previous job whereby the exceptions processing representatives were a type of advanced data entry representatives. Not only would they extrapolate the data received, but they were also required to forward it to the proper department for processing. They did not make any decision on how to use the data, but instead, directed that data to the group that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Money And Money In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales Last year alone Americans spent 70.15 billion dollars on lottery tickets. This exemplifies people s desire for money and all the luxurious factors that coincide with wealth. For example, in the poem, The Canterbury Tales, written by Geoffrey Chaucer, a major theme of money and greed is discussed in the Pardoner s Tale. The story shared by the Pardoner involves three drunken and greedy men who go on a hunt for death, but in the process they encounter gold sprawled out beneath a tree. Each individual devises a plan so they could gain the most money, however when all their plans occur it leads to all three of the men dying due their abundance of greed. Overall, this story can teach people in our current society that people s desire for wealth and money never comes without a serious cost. Since the beginning of time the drive to acquire wealth was always a prominent thought in people s mind. People believe that with money comes happiness and power. However, in today s world and in the story told by the Pardoner in Canterbury Tales many instances prove that theory to be wrong. For example, the Pardoner a man of pure acquisitiveness completes his job of preaching about avarice for the sole purpose of gaining money from the people he preaches too. As stated in the following line, the Pardoner values wealth immensely and believes it will provide him with everything he needs in life, The curse of avarice and cupidity Is all my sermon, for it frees the pelf. The use of personal devices can benefit the patient and the way nurses care for them. For example, smartphones, laptop or tablets in healthcare settings has the potential to enhance productivity, lower failure to respond to patients on time, and increase information access and communications among other healthcare providers. Criminal and Civil Law in the English Legal System Essay One of the main differences between criminal cases and civil cases is that they are held in different courts, this is because there is a significant distinction between a civil wrong and a criminal wrong. Crimes are considered to be a type of wrongdoing, however civil wrongs tend to have only an impact on the parties involved in the case. For example: a breach of contract. Where as criminal wrongs tend to have an impact on society itself. For example: a murder, theft or rape. Criminal law is dealt with in the Magistrates court and if very serious in the Crown court. Magistrates also determine, subject to appeal, whether the defendant should be kept in custody pending trial. Magistrates can impose conditions to meet their concerns about granting bail. Courts have limited information on which to base bail decisions, with the exception of experimental bail information schemes involving the probation service. Normally prosecutors and sometimes defence lawyers make representations as to whether bail should be granted or not. There is a high degree of correlation between prosecutors representations and magistrates decisions. One problem the society has with magistrates is that sections of the community are underrepresented in the lay magistracy. The lay magistracy remains predominately white, middle aged, middle class and conservative. The other court of trial for a criminal case is the Crown Court. Indictable offences like murder can only be dealt with in this court and also triable offences for example, all theft cases. An accused has the absolute right of trial in the Crown Court but if he/she elects summary trial the magistrates may decline to hear the case. Sociological frameworks will also allow for a deeper understanding of the social unrest that led to the culmination of the October Revolution of 1917 and the unintended consequence of the bureaucratization of the state. To fully comprehend the events that led the council to take power, it is necessary to acknowledge both the institutional breakdown that is derived from an institutional lens while at the same time challenging its limits through a Neo Marxist dialogue. From February to July, there were protests and constant debate, in hopes of change. However, Lenin s theses are rejected and the councils continue to support the provisional government because they re following the orthodox Marxist stages model. The councils, who were mostly orthodox Marxists, first resisted Lenin s theses because it was difficult to take this anti Marxist articulation seriously. In other words, they only saw it tangible for Russia to go through a preliminary stage in order to reach a fully capitalist society, then only through Marxian revolution get to socialism. Lenin did, however, articulate in his Theses the need to bring rise to both capitalism and socialism simultaneously. Even though the council s shut down his view, after the Kornilov affair and the breakdown of the institution, the councils begin to lean on Lenin. Which results in the successful takeover of the councils. It too can be argued that as a great leader Lenin won the people and a shift of sympathy towards the Bolsheviks, who promised everything. This battle began April 6 7 1862, in the Pittsburg Landing area of Tennessee. In Hebrew Shiloh, means peace nonetheless, this battlefield was far from a place of peace from April 6 7 1862. This battle was the bloodiest civil war battle to date and occurred between the Union and Confederate armies. Having analyzed the battle from multiple sources, I have discovered a number of operational, tactical, and logistical mistakes that contributed to the Confederate losses suffered. My sources include documentaries, historical videos, books, and articles from historians and civil war experts who have spent their lives studying and dissecting the civil war, its battles, commanders, and tactics. As part of my analysis, I will highlight the Confederate mistakes that could have produced a different outcome of this historical battle. In setting the stage for the battle of Shiloh let us first briefly discuss the civil war. The civil war began with its first battle on 12 April, 1861 at Fort Sumter, South Carolina to the last battle at Anderson, South Carolina on May 1, 1865 (Civil War Trust , 2014 ) between the Union and Confederate Armies.
