Description Of My Major Project Part 2 Essay
Career Episode 3
Introduction
CE 3.1
In this report I want to explain about my major project part 2 which was done during the tenure of
bachelor of Technology in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
Chronology : 2012
Geographical location : India
Organization Name : College Name
Project Name : Full Wave Rectifier Circuit
Title of Position : Team Leader
Background
CE 3.2
In my previous project on developing of voltage multiplier, I had used the rectifier for enhancing the
voltage at the output but in the end, I had obtained lower current relatively. At that instant, I was
researching many rectifiers from half wave to full wave and with the help of my project guide; I had
finally made a call to develop a full wave rectifier circuit.
Abstract
CE 3.2.1
Right from the start of my academic career, I was interested in the area of rectification and how the
rectification is done in lower powered circuits and high powered circuits but most of times I had used
the capacitors over the load resistance for lowering the current ripples as they were sufficient and
rarely used the rectifiers in the high powered circuits. During lab sessions, when we are required some
smooth, steady or stable and uninterruptable DC power supply, I had used the Full Wave Rectifier as
Half Wave Rectifier only supports for one half of the input voltage. Initially, started working with the
sample or trail circuit involving the

Ann Taylor s target market primarily comprises of ages between 30 years and 60 years to whom, the
company offers a plethora of work related apparel and accessories. LOFT s target market comprises of
18 to 34 year olds who have a wide variety of casual work related (can be used for other purposes)
apparel and accessories. Although the two divisions cater to different target markets, their primary
purpose is to provide to the working customer. Ann Taylor s expansion into value based divisions
(LOFT and its clearance centers) has captured the value market. The pricing at LOFT is about 30%
lower than its sister concept, Ann Taylor. The outlets too, have captured the market that comprises of
consumers seeking deeper value over traditional pricing and stores. The corporation added more value
to these clearance centers, by creating private labels for the outlet centers. All the three divisions have
proven to be a success among consumers. A third strength of the company would be its marketing
strategies through celebrity associations. Some of the biggest celebrities like Heidi Klum, Milla
Jovovich, Rachel Bilson are the faces of the company. The brand equity of the company, i.e. the image
of the company in the minds of the consumers is enhanced because of positive perceptions. To further

Remember The Titans Research Paper
While watching Remember the Titans, I learned a lot about team work and putting your differences
aside. Remember the Titans is based on a true story. It is the story of T.C. Williams High school in
Alexandria, Virginia. Tension runs high as the football team is integrated the summer before school. In
the beginning, the team has problems coming together because of their race. One coach, Herman
Boone, pushes them to overcome the racial stigmas and lead the team to a state championship. On this
journey they learn that life is more than just color and find similarities among each other. Remember
the titans is an excellent display of historical events shown on the big screen. The movie sets off in
Virginia of 1971. Before the newly combined

Character Analysis Of Vincente Minnelli s Father Of The...
That Vincente Minnelli made a comedy about the artificial nature of weddings is hardly surprising. In
fact, it s a hilariously obvious choice for Minnelli, a director who made a career out of blending
emotions with spectacle and creating characters who strive for beauty. At its core, Father of the Bride
is a comedy; that means the number one goal is to make the audience laugh. Of course, it has all the
Minnelli traits you d expect: beautiful sets, precise compositions, fluid camera movement, and a focus
on character emotion that permeates the frame. But this is all in service of the comedy, and the
comedy completely aligns with Minnelli s sensibilities. In Stanley T. Banks, Minnelli creates a
character who initially believed weddings were all about love. But he quickly learns, much to his
chagrin, that they re really just a source of endless chaos and bills. As the film progresses, the
preparations become more chaotic and expensive and Stanley becomes increasingly befuddled and
lost. It s hysterical. In Minnelli s musicals and melodramas, a wedding might be a momentous
occasion, full of grandeur and emotion. Here, though, it s a total pain in the ass. Stanley gets so lost in
the proceedings that he can t ever take a step back and think about his daughter s next chapter. A
comedy about a beautiful spectacle consuming a father s life? Now that sounds like Minnelli.
Father of the Bride opens with a track and pan over a catastrophic (and beautifully designed) mess. It s

A History of the Indian River Citrus Company
Indian River Citrus Company (A) Indian River Citrus Company is a leading producer of fresh, frozen,
and made from concentrate citrus drinks. The firm was founded in 1929 by Matthew Stewart, a navy
veteran who settled in Miami after World War I and began selling real estate. Since real estate sales
were booming, Stewart s fortunes soared. His investment philosophy, which he proudly displayed
behind his desk, was Buy land. They aren t making any more of it. He practiced what he preached, but
instead of investing in residential property, which he knew was grossly overvalued, he invested most
of his sales commissions in citrus land located in Florida s Indian River County. Originally, Stewart

Also, interest expenses should not be included, because the cost of capital is already included in the
analysis as a discount. 2. Should the $100,000 that was spent to rehabilitate the plant be included in
the analysis? Explain. No this value should not be included because it is a sunk cost. 3. Suppose
another citrus producer had expressed an interest in leasing the lite orange juice production site for
$25,000 a year. If this were true (in fact, it was not), how would that information be incorporated into
the analysis? The $25,000 is an opportunity cost, so it s important to include this value because by
accepting the project, this $25,000 would not be received and wouldn t be a relevant value. 4. What is
Indian River s Year 0 net investment outlay on this project? What is the expected non operating cash

to the terminal year at the cost of capital, (2) sum the compounded cash inflows to obtain the terminal

The Importance Of Education In The United States
The United States stands only at the top of the education system with its ever growing tuition rates and
student debt that goes hand in hand. It s easy to want what other countries have, and the United States
won t know the waterfall effects that are caused by the implication of a free or low costing tuition plan
until it is enacted. The United States national leaders believe that cheaper alternatives to millions of
dollars in student debt is achievable. They have proposed several paths with no avail from congress to
ignite their plans.
The US has the capability to accomplish a different path in the education system, but as Michael
McPherson states, the real question in our view is whether the United States possesses the will to

Fashion In Modern Society
Fashion is very important. It is life enhancing and, like everything that gives pleasure, it is worth
doing well. Vivienne Westwood. Fashion is not only a materialistic aspect in society but a voice a
voice which project identity, whether it is expensive or not. Extant fashion has enticed us as
consumers to reveal a quality about ourselves. In a world where fashion can be placed into a hierarchy.
Contemporary fashion reflects labels morphed into a designer s aesthetic, but with a more attainable
price point. The development of modern society has become a ground breaking system, freely
expressed by all demographics, whether it s a child or someone in there 80 s. Coco is the six year old
Japanese instagram star, who emphasizes fashion as a culture. Her street style places her as an outlier
in between other six year olds. Coco has mirrored her voice through the way she dresses whilst not
wanting to be ordinary achieving this through contemporary fashion.
The revelation of fashion has constructed a religion, where people express interest and beliefs.
Growing up having seen fashion form the outside world to museums to the village sin Cyprus. I have
recognized the way fashion is expressed so different yet so
similar, universally and how it portrays individuals separately. When it comes to mannequins or body
s dressing the human body, history has played a huge role in the development of fashion and the way
we have constructed ideologies and designs within fashion today.

Bell California Case Study
Bell California is a small community located south east of Los Angeles California. In the summer of
2009 that was caught up in a corruption scandal. The city manager Robert Rizzo was making
$800,000 a year, and the Chief of Police Randy Adams was making $457,000 a year much more than
even the Chief of Police of the Los Angeles Police Department makes, (Coolican, 2010). The city
council to include the mayor of the city were all part time employees at the municipality only making
monthly meetings and small political tasks, however, each garnered around $100,000 annually. The
Town was an of modest income and where not wealthy people, so the tax base did not support the pay
of these city officials. The Bell City Mayor Oscar Hernandez defended the salaries saying that since
the city manager came the city went from being in defect near bankruptcy and now has nearly $ 15

Koren s best friend, Rina Swain, is a go getting, playful, beautiful girl. Asher, Jonas s closest pal, is a
goofy, trouble making boy. Rina Swain from Dreamland and Asher from The Giver have similarities
and differences. Rina Swain and Asher are outgoing, fun loving friends that have much in common.
For example, Cheerleading is a sport, Rina said firmly. And besides, you get to go to all the good
parties (Dessen, 28). Rina always has a spring in her step, and looks for fun and excitement. Like
Rina, Asher s always funny and joyous. In addition, Jonas had casually picked up an apple... and
thrown it to his friend. Asher had thrown it back, and they had begun a simple game of catch (Lowry,

uncertainty (Lowry, 64). Asher is jealous of Jonas and his new Assignment, he wants to be an
important person . Rina is the important person in this instant, unlike Asher and his ordinariness. Rina
and Asher can be fairly different sometimes. Rina Swain and Asher have many similarities and some
differences. Both of the characters help their friend become who they really are and realize that not

Children Are At Home Learning Languages Essay
In different regions around the world, young children are at home learning languages that differ from
the prevailing language used in their extensive social world. When they arrive at school, these children
has a different precious resource; there mother tongue often referred to as L1. Typically, when
indigenous and minority language speaking students begin school, they are forced to learn a language
of the majority group in order to fit in socially and succeed in their academics. In a majority of
schools, these children are thought exclusively in the second language, which is most often English.
Although the L1 language is exceedingly common, a majority of school curriculums and programs
completely disregard and fail to support the minority language. Moreover, a majority of language
policies that inform these programs places no value on the knowledge and cultural backgrounds
associated with the linguistic diversity of the dialect children. Research as shown that persistent low
academic achievement and early school dropouts are common among these minority children and
partly stem from this dialect insensitive education policies. There is need to recognize that children
from diverse cultural backgrounds speak in different dialects and, therefore, there is a necessity to
enhance learning for such children while adhering and respecting their cultural diversity (Ball, 2010).
This research work thus tries to raise awareness on the need to maintain and promote cultural and

Extinction Of Dinosaurs Extinction
The extinction of dinosaurs could have been caused by many different things. One main reason that is
thought around the world is that dinosaurs went extinct because an asteroid fell onto earth at speeds
that are too fast for the human mind to even imagine. This idea was thought when and asteroid crater
was found near mexico. Also to support the facts many scientist found traces of rare metal onto the
earth s surface. This metal is not very common here but is really common in outer space. Today we
will be looking at why these huge creatures died of the face of the planet in just a matter of months.
One reason, these greatebeastes were exterminated was that they alter the asteroid hit the ground a
huge ball of dust and debris was sent into the earth. This dust covered the earth in just a matter of
hours. This was crucial to their extinction because the sun was blocked plants did not receive and sun
light and herbivorous ( plant eating animals) could not get any food from the plants because most of
the plants died. This was just one of the first reasons that the dinosaur race was wiped of this earth.
You may ask how big the asteroid had to be, well put it into perspective the asteroid was about the size
of 110 empire state buildings and had the weight of 211,000 empire states buildings put together. This
asteroid was the biggest asteroid to ever hit earth that we know of. This big of a hit throw 70 billion
tons of soot out of the earth and that dust polluted the skies. If

care providers to patients, courts usually find waivers of liability in the medical context unenforceable
as a matter or public policy . The article also argues that waivers of liability undermine the
relationship of trust that is essential to the patient practitioner relationship by placing the professional
s interest above the best interest of the patient (pg. 15) . This is in direct violation of ASHA s first
principle. Another possible solution might be educating the patient in a different way to make sure she
fully understands what is occurring. For example, the speech therapist may actually show the patient
her modified barium swallow study to see the aspiration. This presentation of information in a

Quinlan has been UK s foremost retail giant for a long period of time. By end of 1998 there was
evidence of a crisis and since then the company has been on a decline. The company has been

It is visible that Quinlan s culture was bureaucratic. In particular Quinlan had:

Analysis Of The Movie The Things They Carried
The Actual War Scenario Vietnam War
The Things They Carried, is a novel based on the Vietnam War, and the book
reveals the truth of the war as the author remembers the war after twenty one years and
snows his guilt and emotions for the war. The Things They Carried, belongs high on the
list of the best fiction about any war... crystallizes the Vietnam experiences for everyone
and exposes the nature of all war stories.( New York Times, Book of the Century ). Tim
O Brien, the author of the book is both the narrator and the protagonist of the book. As,
he himself is present in the war and also tells different stories told by the member of the
alpha company. O Brien use of storytelling along with theme is the part of the book
which makes it more realistic and effective, which is the ultimate point and purpose of
the author.
O Brien believes that stories have immense power, they gain the attention of the audience and allows
them to confront and face with the situation together and share the experience. Telling stories returns
to narrative. For example, Mitchell Sanders the resident of the Alpha company and the storyteller tells
story consisting of myths to the specifics. The hearing of a sound in the jungle and shooting in own
foot by Rat Kiley, contends that truth and morality in a war story have little to do with accuracy. Rat
was not a reliable narrator and he cared for making the story alive and making readers feel to be

Team Sport Research Paper
Playing a team sport builds character because it teaches a person how to be respectful, how to work
with others, and it teaches good sportsmanship. These qualities can play a very large role in life down
the road. They can be very important for future jobs or activities that a person might do. Without these
qualities a person could be at a severe disadvantage.
Playing a team sport teaches respect. Being respectful applies to being nice to your opponents,
coaches and referees. Respect is something that is taught only through other people and is earned
through good efforts in game with your teammates. To show respect to an opponent is to show
admiration to their abilities and acknowledge that they are also a good team and are just as good as
you. To show respect to a referee is to agree with their calls and shake their hand after the game. To
show respect to your coaches is listen to what they are saying in the huddle and follow their
instructions during game. To have respect is such an important thing for people to have because it
keeps that person in their place and keeps them from pretending to be someone that he or she is not. ...

Human Nature Of Curiosity
Curiosity within
Curiosity is human nature that people are born with. From the moment someone is born they becomes
curious of all their surroundings and what they can do. Curiosity also leads to instability because every
one becomes curious sooner, and or later someone will break the rules or do something they aren t
supposed to. Also, if one realizes they aren t really happy then they will become curious and try to find
something that will make them happy. This will lead to instability in society where a small amount of
people like a certain thing and others don t. It will all lead to people arguing and destroying the so
called perfection that they have reached. Therefore, stability will never be reached because of people s
curiosity, and because of society s will of trying to be perfect which makes it imperfect.
In the World State everyone has a certain job to do and the people are separated according to their
caste system, there are Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Deltas, and Epsilons. They are ordered from higher
class to lower class but this doesn t stop curiosity between all of them. There are some people in the
World State that experience curiosity. Bernard Marx is one of the few that are really experiencing
curiosity and want something different. A great example is when he begins to feel something for
Lenina and when they are on a date he asks Don t you wish you were free Lenina (91). He is not the
only one though Lenina is also experiencing different emotions and she is

The Pros And Cons Of Transplants
They bring the donor to an operation room and they carefully make incisions as they would if the
patient we still alive. they recover any tissues and organs that are still healthy and able to be used in
transplants, such bone, cornea, and skin. ( US Department of Health and Human Resources ) When a
transplant is successful in surgery, things aren t perfect yet. Sometimes the body detects that a thing
isn t right and can attack the new organ. Dr. Carrel and other scientists reasoned that the animals were
dying after surgery because their bodies rejected any transplanted organ as foreign tissue. Their
reasoning was based on past research. Doctors had already successfully grafted skin from one part of a
patient s own body to another. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only one life can be saved with the second organ. Whether it s the same person who has already had a
previous graft or is a new candidate make no direct difference to someone who is not concerned about
the distribution of a good, but only the aggregate total. A life is a life. Because utilitarians are not
concerned about the distribution of the goods but the aggregate amount of goods. especially if we
exclude considerations of social worth, it should make no difference to the utilitarian which lives are
saved. (Veatch, Robert M. Transplantation Ethics. Washington DC: Georgetown UP, 2000. Print.).
There has been studies and tests that have concluded doctors can perform their duties using a new
technique. 3D printings of organs can be made and used as organs. This process can take a long time
to do because some of the human organs are so complex that the printer would take time to get every
detail right. But in some ways this process is faster than waiting for a perfect match to arrive and to
make sure they are an organ donor. Finding new ways to make organ transplants better, faster and
more effective is crucial. Their findings can help save more people and maybe in a faster time period
as well.

coma. A person that is considered brain dead can also be an organ donor. It s just another way of dying
and their organs can go to a person who really needs them. Many injuries such as strokes gunshot
wounds and drowning can lead to brain death. 2% of the deaths each year are brain

Disadvantages of Texting Texting on the phone while driving can be a very dangerous thing to do. As
someone looks at the phone and concentrates on the text messages, they will become distracted from
driving. Distracted drivers can cause car accidents and injuries or death to themselves or others.
Texting causes delayed reactions, which increase the chance of getting into an accident. According to
Cary Aspinwall, when texting while driving, drivers take their eyes off the road for 4.6 of 6 seconds. A
National Safety Council fact sheet states drivers who use cell phones are four times more likely to be
in a crash. The Harvard center for Risk Analysis reports the annual cost ... Show more content on

The Impact Of Drug Trafficking And Organized Crime
The United States has a vast illegal drug market as well as high numbers of people indulging in
organized crime. Drug law enforcement personnel face problems when protecting the United States
borders to avoid any drug trafficking instances. Drug trafficking involves smuggling of illegal drugs
producing states such as Mexico to the consumer markets in other regions within the United States
Organized Crime, on the other hand, is the practice of the offense through threats or violence and aims
to collect legal or illegal rent from people in the community (Gavrilova, Kamada Zoutman, 2014).
Both practices are correlated as they are illegal and many criminal organizations are funded from drug
trafficking in the United States. The paper seeks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has made various American leaders conclude that there are a huge market and a rising number of
drug abusers. There are cartels spread out within the United States to make the trade easy (Paoli,
2014). The current value of illegal drug sale is over $150 billion, and some drugs like cocaine fetch
over $37 billion annually. In 2011 according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime,
Americans were reported to consume about 63% of cocaine globally. Mexico is the highest ranked
country in the United States on drug trafficking practices, and Mexican drug cartels have become
more violent and aggressive in their effort to trade their products in Northern America (Beittel, 2015).
California and Texas are some of the states that have been influenced by the drug trafficking efforts as
young people are indulging in substance abuse and gang violence. Cannabis is the most trafficked
drug today both in the United States and globally. They have been an increase of its use as about nine
states have legalized it such as California and Arizona.

Florida Everglades Essay
The Florida Everglades
The Florida Everglades have been adversely impacted for decades because of human attempts to
control this historical River of Grass . The reason for our insistence on attempting to control and
manage the area can be defined in one word: water. There has always been plenty of water available
within the Everglades ecosystem, but no logical way to extract it. Our extraction efforts eventually led
to devastating results. My paper will focus on the initial policy and practices involved in the extensive
downgrading of this once biologically unequaled ecosystem; as well as discuss recent policy
initiatives that have been implemented in order to restore the Everglades to its once magnificent status.

For more than 50 years since the Central and Southern Florida Project, major ventures have been
ongoing which have focused on the provision of fresh water for human development projects and
flood protection. In order to provide water for residential, commercial, and agricultural uses, the
natural flow of hundreds of small rivers and streams contained within the Everglades were altered.
Revisions included redirecting river flows from winding to straight, draining wetland areas to provide
agricultural land, and channelizing rivers by creating high concrete banks to provide flood control.
Consequently, the Everglades and its dependent natural community have been highly impacted in the
most adverse way.
However, recently this all began to change. In the late summer of 2000, Congress passed the REAL
Act, (Restoring the Everglades an American Legacy Act) which puts forth a plan to revitalize the
Everglade ecosystem by removing much of the canal system present, allowing wetlands to be re
established and protected, and generally making it an equal priority to leave water within the
ecosystem as it has traditionally been to send it out of the Everglades to aid in human settlement. This
congressional act is the culmination of decades of hard work by environmental advocates, and marks
the first instance in history that a major waterworks project overseen by the Army Corps of

The Autodefensa Movement In Mexico
In general, the autodefensa movement in Mexico s western state of Michoacán was an impressive
reaction towards organized crime. The autodefensa movement is a vigilante self defense groups that
were brought together in Michoacán to fight against the Caballeros Templarios cartel. The people of
Michoacán were sick of the violence, extortions, and how the local and state government were
indirectly involved with the drug cartel. The person I interviewed was Ivan who was involved in the
autodefensa movement in Tepalcatepec, Michoacán. When I conducted the interview through the
phone with Ivan since he was still in Mexico, his responses to the questions such as why you joined
the movement were plain, but you can notice in his voice a sense of pride ... Show more content on

Power Corrupts In 1984 By George Orwell
Imagine living in a world with a dictator. You have numerous rules set in place where you can t do
certain things that may be normal to us in common life . You re tired of these rules, and start going
against them, this is 1984. In the story 1984 by George Orwell the theme is, power corrupts. Winston
hated Big Brother (the ruler of Oceania). He wanted everything about him to be gone, including his
followers, his rules, and the Inner Party in general. Winston was brought to Room 101 (a room used to
torture whoever using his or her greatest fear), and was forced to change his mind about Big Brother,
and ended up loving him. A claim you can make from 1984 by George Orwell, is that power corrupts,
or being strong willed, or determined can withstand strong power. In the text it states, He loved Big
Brother. This is at the end of the text showing it took Winston some time to really get controlled. He
had hated Big Brother with all of his power, and even broke laws or rules because he didn t like them!
He has stated many times how he despises Big Brother, as shown, A sort of vapid eagerness flitted
across Winston s face at the mention of Big Brother. This proves even when someone just brings up
the name Big Brother he gets upset, or has negative feelings towards him, Big Brother is someone that
Winston hates even when the smallest mention of him. This is changed at the end of the story because
of torture from O Brien, someone who Winston trusted. O brien got close to Winston

Dante,Circles, And Characters In Dante Alighieri
Dante Alighieri was a major Italian poet of the Late Middle Ages, he was born into a family with a
complex involvement in the Florence political scene. In the Dante Alighieri s epic poem The Inferno,
Dante, the protagonist, witnesses the Circles of Hell, guided by Virgil the character representing
Human Reason. Alighieri shows compassion towards different sinners in Hell, which provides an
insight on the way he feels about people who do not repent. Although they are illustrated as good
people by the poet, they are punished within the different circles of Hell because they did not cleanse
themselves of sin. Through the uses of diction, actions of Dante and Virgil, and imagery, Alighieri was
able to show readers he felt compassion towards Farinata Degli Uberti, Pier Delle Vigne, and Count
Ugliono.
Alighieri shows compassion towards a sinner in the Sixth Circle named Farinata Degli Uberti, through
the use of diction and actions of Virgil and Dante. Farinata Degli Uberti is one of the damned who is
punished for Heresy, a person who believed that the soul dies with the body, denying life after death.
As a Heretic, his body is exhumed and burned in a tomb endlessly. When Virgil and Dante get to this
Circle, they speak to Farinata Uberti which allows for his body to rise from the tomb in order to speak
to them, Erect, he rose above the flame, great chest, great figure,... (Canto X, lines 34 35). Here Dante
describes him as great chest and great figure both emphasizing the

Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Frankenstein: The Individual and Society
The creature s ambiguous humanity has long puzzled readers of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. In this
essay I will focus on how Frankenstein can be used to explore two philosophical topics, social contract
theory, and gender roles, in light of ideas from Shelley s two philosophical parents, William Godwin,
and Mary Wollstonecraft.
What Does it Mean to be Human? Individual and Society
One historically important tradition in social and political philosophy is called Social Contract Theory.
It gives a way of thinking about what it means to be human, raising fundamental questions such as:
what is human nature, in itself, apart from society? Are people fundamentally ... Show more content

Mary Shelley s father, William Godwin (1756 1836), was a well known political anarchist. In Enquiry
Concerning Political Justice (1793), Godwin argued that government is fundamentally unjust, and
functions primarily to uphold economic inequality between rich and poor. Godwin was highly critical
of social contract theory; the conversation between Victor and the creature regarding a mate
exemplifies several of Godwin s criticisms (pp. 97 100). We could read this passage as a social
contract between Victor and the creature: if Victor makes a mate, the creature promises never to
return. Godwin asked why parties to the social contract should trust each other to keep their promises;
Victor agrees to the bargain, but didn t trust the creature to keep his promise, predicting he would
return in revenge. Their bargain sounds more like blackmail than a contractual arrangement. Godwin
also worried about future generations who were not parties to the original agreement, and had never
promised to abide by a government s laws. Victor was concerned about this; realizing that even if the
creature kept his end of the agreement, the female had made no such promise. He had sworn to quit
the neighborhood of man, and hide himself in deserts; but she had not; and she, who in all probability
was to become a thinking and reasoning animal, might refuse to comply with a compact made before
her creation (114).

Renzulli s Three-Ring Conception Of Giftedness
1.) How does the main character (or main characters) exemplify someone with gifted abilities?
I chose the movie Hidden Figures . This exemplifies women mathematicians that work for NASA with
gifted abilities. After reading different articles in this class, gifted is defined as having exceptional
talent or natural ability. The article Renzulli s Three Ring Conception of Giftedness states that
Renzulli considers three factors important for the development of gifted behavior: Above average
ability, creativity, and task commitment. These women had all three abilities. Katherine Johnson, a
brilliant mathematician in this movie was able to be creative and calculate the launch coordinates and
trajectory needed to launch U.S. astronaut John Glenn into outer space. Dorothy Vaughan creatively
finds a way to teach herself how to program. Mary Jackson, another NASA employee became an

I think intelligence along with the creativity allowed these traits to be dismissed. The article Creativity
as an Elusive Factor in Giftedness , stated that creativity is elusive precisely because like intelligence
it has many different manifestations, conceptions, and interpretations. Because the women of colored
had these gifted abilities they were treated as unworthy. Their jobs and promotions were in jeopardy.
3.) What are the various perspectives of other characters in the movie when relating to this character
(these characters)?
The other characters in the movie thought these women were strange, worthless and didn t know what
they were doing. These women were always doubted and questioned about their work and abilities.

My Heritage Essay
It s crazy to think that the way you were raised is what has made you become the person you are
today. Everyone has their own story about how they were raised, where they were raised, and who
they were raised with. Each person has their own type of heritage with how they are raised based upon
their family, where they were raised, religion, family traditions, values, and beliefs. The way you were
raised in life has influenced your personality. The way you act and the way you are viewed as are both
influenced by your family s heritage.
I come from a four person family. My mom and dad have always been in my life therefore they are the
people who raised me. After seeing my parents have a successful marriage, it has influenced me to
want the same thing in life and having my first marriage be my last. I have an older sister who is 23.
While growing up, me and my sister had a very close relationship. As we grew up, we started to drift
apart. I learned a lot from being the youngest child. While being 3 years younger than my sister
Taylor, watching her grow up and deal with situations taught me many personal life lessons. Watching
her grow up taught me the good and bad things in life and helped me follow the right path. While
going through school, I already knew what to expect when it came to the class description and the
teacher just by having my sister go through it just a couple years before me. Even though being the

Media And Women s Self Image Essay
MEDIAAND WOMEN S SELF IMAGE This paper will discuss the view that the media generally
has a negative impact on the self image of women. The evidence to support this view has been
provided by the arguments of women writers and the findings of empirical studies over the years.
Media representations present an ideal for female appearance and behavior. Women, especially those
who are young and impressionable, accept this seemingly authoritative ideal and develop a negative
self image when their own bodies fail to match it. The problem is that the media ideal is unrealistic.
Women of color are given the message that they are not light skinned enough and women of all types
are given the message that they are not thin enough. This paper will describe the problem and will
argue that the best way to overcome it is to increase women s awareness that they are being
manipulated by the media for the sake of increased profits. Concerns with the influence of the media
on self image among women can be seen as early as the late eighteenth century, in the work of Mary
Wollstonecraft. Specifically, in chapter five of A Vindication of the Rights of Women, Wollstonecraft
criticized writers of the time who were guilty of treating women as objects of pity, bordering on
contempt. For example, Jean Jacques Rousseau argued that the natural role of women was to be weak
and passive and subject to men (Wollstonecraft 99). Regarding the impact of this way of thinking on
the self image of

Armed Police Uniforms
Armed police officers create discrimination?
Do you think police officers should be armed if their job is to protect schools? Many will argue yes
because of safety reasons, but what if that leads to bigger problems? This has been a debate for years
and has caused to create many rules that have or have not worked. For example the Gun Free schools
Act or the zero tolerance policies. Although it protects students and can create a safe and secure
environment, police officers in schools should not be armed because it can create discrimination,
officers will feel with more power and authority, and take away student s education.
However, many might think police officers should be armed in case of an emergency. There has been
many incidents where shootings occurs at schools and the police officer s job is to protect themselves
and the lives of students and staff at any cost. You can argue this to be a good reason to allow police
officers to carry weapons. They feel they should be armed for protection, but many police officers take
advantage of that and feel they have the power to do anything, even to break a law. It is not right for
police officers to think they can break laws because everyone is equal and having armed police
officers will damage students in other ways.
Police officers do contribute to an environment of discrimination. Immigration has been a big problem
in our society because people like Donald Trump, for example, think immigrants got here to destroy
the country.

Culture Is Not Born Without Society Essay
INTRODUCTION A culture is not born without a society. A society describes a group of people who
occupy a particular territory, thus through this interaction a culture is born. Therefore, culture is a
group worldview; it is the way a particular society makes sense of themselves, their world and their
experiences in that world. Moreover, a culture describes a set of behaviors that characterize or
distinguish a set of people; therefore at the core, culture constitutes of beliefs, values and cultures.
Additionally, through these definitions, we can state that culture is as set of knowledge structures,
consisting of systems, values, norms, attitudes and behavioral meanings that are shared by members of
a social group or society that are learned from previous generations. Henceforth, culture is a broad and
wide spectrum that keeps on changing in our world today. In this day and age culture has become
increasingly important in management. This is due to the increase of globalization, and as a result,
culture has influenced how managers see their world, on what international managers do and what
others expect from international managers. Management, on the other hand, refers to the organization
and coordination of activities to achieve defined objectives within an organization. It involves:
planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling of resources. Whereas, cross cultural
management aims to explain the behavior of people in organizations around the world and shows

Protestantism In Nineteenth-Century America
Nineteenth century America contained a baffling cluster of Protestant factions and categories, with
distinctive teachings, practices, and hierarchical structures. However, by the 1830s these bodies had a
profound zealous accentuation in like manner. Protestantism has constantly contained a critical
outreaching strain, yet it was in the nineteenth century that a specific style of zeal turned into the
overwhelming type of otherworldly expression. What most importantly else portrayed this zeal was its
dynamism, the pervasive feeling of lobbyist vitality it discharged. As Charles Grandison Finney, the
main outreaching of mid nineteenth century America, put it: religion is the work of man, it is
something for man to do. This fervent activism included a critical doctrinal move far from the
predominately Calvinist introduction that had portrayed a lot of eighteenth century American
Christianity.

Wassily Kandinsky Essay
During the 1860 s, Wassily Kandinsky grew up in Moscow, Russia and would someday be known as
the one who marked the pivotal point in abstract modern art. During young adulthood, Kandinsky
studied law at the University of Moscow and became a law professor until the age of thirty. He had
always been interested in fine art, however his parents pushed him to pursue a career that would make
him an elite during his time. From 1896 to 1900, Kandinsky studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in
Munich, Germany where he would gain the skills and knowledge of entering the art profession. 1 The

His expression of color influenced artists like Mark Rothko, who was known for bringing out
emotions in viewers just from experimenting with the texture of a color. After Kandinsky, art become
much more expressive, emotionally and physically. Some thought Kandinsky took too far of a leap
and turn of the century mysticism occultism, anarchism, and anarchism [had] been considered too
irrational and chaotic to be viewed as serious influences on modernist artists. 9 Art had never before
challenged anyone and Kandinsky was one of the first to bring life to a painting where viewers could
reflect and feel for themselves instead of just simply accepting whatever what was in front of them for
what it is. Kandinsky took risks that few artists ever took. Some of his paintings had no significant
relevance to anything and this was viewed as dangerous and that there is nothing to gain from images
without meaning. 10 Abstraction was viewed in Kandinsky s opinion as a graphic representation of
mood rather than as a representation of objects and this perspective ignited a new method of
analyzing. 11 This not only impacted the art world, but it also left a legacy with theorists. He left a
legacy that would spark debate about feeling verses seeing and whether or not something really needs

Thank you for taking the time to listen to my complaints and for performing a walk through at the

this issue was not the result of a chemical reaction as initially concluded by GC # 1 and 2, but
something more profound. When the fourth GC (Jerson) was onboarded to remediate the outstanding
issues, the brown stain issue was one of the items on the punch list. During the initial walk though,
Jerson removed the grout that had the brown stain and found evidence of water on the cement
underneath the tile. On January 3, 2017 the contractors removed the toilet and ripped out several floor
tiles with the intent of identifying water leak. Once the area was exposed the leak was not apparent
and therefore required a more in depth research according to the GC perhaps breaking the floor to
again access to the pipes thus, requiring Lowe s approval before proceeding. The GC informed me that
he would meet with Lowe s to propose his recommendations and that I should hear back from them in
the next couple of day. On January 9th, as I waited to hear back from Lowe s regarding the next steps

  • 3. Description Of My Major Project Part 2 Essay Career Episode 3 Introduction CE 3.1 In this report I want to explain about my major project part 2 which was done during the tenure of bachelor of Technology in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Chronology : 2012 Geographical location : India Organization Name : College Name Project Name : Full Wave Rectifier Circuit Title of Position : Team Leader Background CE 3.2 In my previous project on developing of voltage multiplier, I had used the rectifier for enhancing the voltage at the output but in the end, I had obtained lower current relatively. At that instant, I was researching many rectifiers from half wave to full wave and with the help of my project guide; I had finally made a call to develop a full wave rectifier circuit. Abstract CE 3.2.1 Right from the start of my academic career, I was interested in the area of rectification and how the rectification is done in lower powered circuits and high powered circuits but most of times I had used the capacitors over the load resistance for lowering the current ripples as they were sufficient and rarely used the rectifiers in the high powered circuits. During lab sessions, when we are required some smooth, steady or stable and uninterruptable DC power supply, I had used the Full Wave Rectifier as Half Wave Rectifier only supports for one half of the input voltage. Initially, started working with the sample or trail circuit involving the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Character Analysis Of Vincente Minnelli s Father Of The... That Vincente Minnelli made a comedy about the artificial nature of weddings is hardly surprising. In fact, it s a hilariously obvious choice for Minnelli, a director who made a career out of blending emotions with spectacle and creating characters who strive for beauty. At its core, Father of the Bride is a comedy; that means the number one goal is to make the audience laugh. Of course, it has all the Minnelli traits you d expect: beautiful sets, precise compositions, fluid camera movement, and a focus on character emotion that permeates the frame. But this is all in service of the comedy, and the comedy completely aligns with Minnelli s sensibilities. In Stanley T. Banks, Minnelli creates a character who initially believed weddings were all about love. But he quickly learns, much to his chagrin, that they re really just a source of endless chaos and bills. As the film progresses, the preparations become more chaotic and expensive and Stanley becomes increasingly befuddled and lost. It s hysterical. In Minnelli s musicals and melodramas, a wedding might be a momentous occasion, full of grandeur and emotion. Here, though, it s a total pain in the ass. Stanley gets so lost in the proceedings that he can t ever take a step back and think about his daughter s next chapter. A comedy about a beautiful spectacle consuming a father s life? Now that sounds like Minnelli. Father of the Bride opens with a track and pan over a catastrophic (and beautifully designed) mess. It s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. A History of the Indian River Citrus Company Indian River Citrus Company (A) Indian River Citrus Company is a leading producer of fresh, frozen, and made from concentrate citrus drinks. The firm was founded in 1929 by Matthew Stewart, a navy veteran who settled in Miami after World War I and began selling real estate. Since real estate sales were booming, Stewart s fortunes soared. His investment philosophy, which he proudly displayed behind his desk, was Buy land. They aren t making any more of it. He practiced what he preached, but instead of investing in residential property, which he knew was grossly overvalued, he invested most of his sales commissions in citrus land located in Florida s Indian River County. Originally, Stewart sold his oranges, lemons, and grapefruit to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, interest expenses should not be included, because the cost of capital is already included in the analysis as a discount. 2. Should the $100,000 that was spent to rehabilitate the plant be included in the analysis? Explain. No this value should not be included because it is a sunk cost. 3. Suppose another citrus producer had expressed an interest in leasing the lite orange juice production site for $25,000 a year. If this were true (in fact, it was not), how would that information be incorporated into the analysis? Although they are illustrated as good people by the poet, they are punished within the different circles of Hell because they did not cleanse themselves of sin. Through the uses of diction, actions of Dante and Virgil, and imagery, Alighieri was able to show readers he felt compassion towards Farinata Degli Uberti, Pier Delle Vigne, and Count Ugliono. Alighieri shows compassion towards a sinner in the Sixth Circle named Farinata Degli Uberti, through the use of diction and actions of Virgil and Dante. Farinata Degli Uberti is one of the damned who is punished for Heresy, a person who believed that the soul dies with the body, denying life after death. As a Heretic, his body is exhumed and burned in a tomb endlessly. When Virgil and Dante get to this Circle, they speak to Farinata Uberti which allows for his body to rise from the tomb in order to speak to them, Erect, he rose above the flame, great chest, great figure,... • 32. Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Frankenstein: The Individual and Society The creature s ambiguous humanity has long puzzled readers of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. In this essay I will focus on how Frankenstein can be used to explore two philosophical topics, social contract theory, and gender roles, in light of ideas from Shelley s two philosophical parents, William Godwin, and Mary Wollstonecraft. What Does it Mean to be Human? Individual and Society One historically important tradition in social and political philosophy is called Social Contract Theory. It gives a way of thinking about what it means to be human, raising fundamental questions such as: what is human nature, in itself, apart from society? Are people fundamentally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mary Shelley s father, William Godwin (1756 1836), was a well known political anarchist. In Enquiry Concerning Political Justice (1793), Godwin argued that government is fundamentally unjust, and functions primarily to uphold economic inequality between rich and poor. Godwin was highly critical of social contract theory; the conversation between Victor and the creature regarding a mate exemplifies several of Godwin s criticisms (pp. 97 100). We could read this passage as a social contract between Victor and the creature: if Victor makes a mate, the creature promises never to return. Godwin asked why parties to the social contract should trust each other to keep their promises; Victor agrees to the bargain, but didn t trust the creature to keep his promise, predicting he would return in revenge. Their bargain sounds more like blackmail than a contractual arrangement. Godwin also worried about future generations who were not parties to the original agreement, and had never promised to abide by a government s laws. Victor was concerned about this; realizing that even if the creature kept his end of the agreement, the female had made no such promise. He had sworn to quit the neighborhood of man, and hide himself in deserts; but she had not; and she, who in all probability was to become a thinking and reasoning animal, might refuse to comply with a compact made before her creation (114). This exemplifies women mathematicians that work for NASA with gifted abilities. After reading different articles in this class, gifted is defined as having exceptional talent or natural ability. The article Renzulli s Three Ring Conception of Giftedness states that Renzulli considers three factors important for the development of gifted behavior: Above average ability, creativity, and task commitment. These women had all three abilities. What are the various perspectives of other characters in the movie when relating to this character (these characters)? The other characters in the movie thought these women were strange, worthless and didn t know what they were doing. These women were always doubted and questioned about their work and abilities. 4.) • 35. My Heritage Essay It s crazy to think that the way you were raised is what has made you become the person you are today. Everyone has their own story about how they were raised, where they were raised, and who they were raised with. Each person has their own type of heritage with how they are raised based upon their family, where they were raised, religion, family traditions, values, and beliefs. The way you were raised in life has influenced your personality. The way you act and the way you are viewed as are both influenced by your family s heritage. I come from a four person family. My mom and dad have always been in my life therefore they are the people who raised me. After seeing my parents have a successful marriage, it has influenced me to want the same thing in life and having my first marriage be my last. I have an older sister who is 23. While growing up, me and my sister had a very close relationship. As we grew up, we started to drift apart. I learned a lot from being the youngest child. While being 3 years younger than my sister Taylor, watching her grow up and deal with situations taught me many personal life lessons. Watching her grow up taught me the good and bad things in life and helped me follow the right path. While going through school, I already knew what to expect when it came to the class description and the teacher just by having my sister go through it just a couple years before me. Even though being the younger sister, my whole life is all I know, I couldn t imagine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Media And Women s Self Image Essay MEDIAAND WOMEN S SELF IMAGE This paper will discuss the view that the media generally has a negative impact on the self image of women. The evidence to support this view has been provided by the arguments of women writers and the findings of empirical studies over the years. Media representations present an ideal for female appearance and behavior. Women, especially those who are young and impressionable, accept this seemingly authoritative ideal and develop a negative self image when their own bodies fail to match it. The problem is that the media ideal is unrealistic. Women of color are given the message that they are not light skinned enough and women of all types are given the message that they are not thin enough. This paper will describe the problem and will argue that the best way to overcome it is to increase women s awareness that they are being manipulated by the media for the sake of increased profits. Concerns with the influence of the media on self image among women can be seen as early as the late eighteenth century, in the work of Mary Wollstonecraft. Specifically, in chapter five of A Vindication of the Rights of Women, Wollstonecraft criticized writers of the time who were guilty of treating women as objects of pity, bordering on contempt. For example, Jean Jacques Rousseau argued that the natural role of women was to be weak and passive and subject to men (Wollstonecraft 99). Regarding the impact of this way of thinking on the self image of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Armed Police Uniforms Armed police officers create discrimination? Do you think police officers should be armed if their job is to protect schools? Many will argue yes because of safety reasons, but what if that leads to bigger problems? This has been a debate for years and has caused to create many rules that have or have not worked. For example the Gun Free schools Act or the zero tolerance policies. Although it protects students and can create a safe and secure environment, police officers in schools should not be armed because it can create discrimination, officers will feel with more power and authority, and take away student s education. However, many might think police officers should be armed in case of an emergency. There has been many incidents where shootings occurs at schools and the police officer s job is to protect themselves and the lives of students and staff at any cost. You can argue this to be a good reason to allow police officers to carry weapons. They feel they should be armed for protection, but many police officers take advantage of that and feel they have the power to do anything, even to break a law. It is not right for police officers to think they can break laws because everyone is equal and having armed police officers will damage students in other ways. Police officers do contribute to an environment of discrimination. • 38. Culture Is Not Born Without Society Essay INTRODUCTION A culture is not born without a society. A society describes a group of people who occupy a particular territory, thus through this interaction a culture is born. Therefore, culture is a group worldview; it is the way a particular society makes sense of themselves, their world and their experiences in that world. It involves: planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling of resources. • 39. Protestantism In Nineteenth-Century America Nineteenth century America contained a baffling cluster of Protestant factions and categories, with distinctive teachings, practices, and hierarchical structures. However, by the 1830s these bodies had a profound zealous accentuation in like manner. Protestantism has constantly contained a critical outreaching strain, yet it was in the nineteenth century that a specific style of zeal turned into the overwhelming type of otherworldly expression. What most importantly else portrayed this zeal was its dynamism, the pervasive feeling of lobbyist vitality it discharged. As Charles Grandison Finney, the main outreaching of mid nineteenth century America, put it: religion is the work of man, it is something for man to do. This fervent activism included a critical doctrinal move far from the predominately Calvinist introduction that had portrayed a lot of eighteenth century American Christianity. ... During young adulthood, Kandinsky studied law at the University of Moscow and became a law professor until the age of thirty. He had always been interested in fine art, however his parents pushed him to pursue a career that would make him an elite during his time. From 1896 to 1900, Kandinsky studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Germany where he would gain the skills and knowledge of entering the art profession. 1 The turning point in his artistic career was when he [traveled] extensively with Munter in the Netherlands, Tunisia, Italy and Germany, before settling in Paris for ... Kandinsky took risks that few artists ever took. Some of his paintings had no significant relevance to anything and this was viewed as dangerous and that there is nothing to gain from images without meaning. 10 Abstraction was viewed in Kandinsky s opinion as a graphic representation of mood rather than as a representation of objects and this perspective ignited a new method of analyzing. 11 This not only impacted the art world, but it also left a legacy with theorists. The renovation commenced 2 years 6 months ago, four different contract companies and there are still outstanding issues, including but not limited to a water leak located in the small bathroom. During the initial walk though, Jerson removed the grout that had the brown stain and found evidence of water on the cement underneath the tile. On January 3, 2017 the contractors removed the toilet and ripped out several floor tiles with the intent of identifying water leak. Once the area was exposed the leak was not apparent and therefore required a more in depth research according to the GC perhaps breaking the floor to again access to the pipes thus, requiring Lowe s approval before proceeding.
