Bell Jar Depression
While it is sad, it is interesting to see how depression can slowly break down an individual to
someone who feels nothing but apathy. For people who struggle with the illness, no happy
thoughts can changed how they perceive the life and the world around them. It s not as easy as
getting a massage or thinking happy thoughts to change their mood and take away all that sadness,
emptiness, and all that negative self talk. The Bell Jar is a contemplation of the despairing life of
Esther Greenwood and her descent into darkness. She personifies the actual mental struggle and the
tumultuous life of the author, Sylvia Plath who, at a very young age suffered from clinical
depression. While many believed that Bell Jar in this novel symbolizes the... Show more content on

She is a neurotic perfectionist. It is the second factor that led to her withdrawal and collapse. Her
flawless academic tract record which are highlighted on the article by California State
University, Stanislaus include first place in Boston Globe contest, full scholarship to Wellesley
College, Full Bright scholarship in Mademoiselle Fiction Contest, and other grants and private
scholarship truly suggests that Esther Greenwood sets an extreme standard of herself leaving no
room for possibility of failure. Based on an article by Ernest Shulman, Esther became obsessed
with achievements and these achievements and success veiled the undercurrent depression she
was suffering. The rejection from Harvard summer writing class became Esther s tipping point
and her world seemed to fall down right before her eyes. It was one thing that she has been
looking for ward to all summer. She considered that Harvard writing course as her safe bridge
over the dull gulf of the summer (pg 60). As defined by Duke University, a neurotic perfectionist
works hard not to please or challenge themselves but to avoid failure. Esther fails to adhere to brutal
standards she holds for herself which left her stuck in a tempestuous mental

Themes Of Violence In Dante In Love, Dante Alighieri
Introduction
According to English writer, A. N. Wilson, in Dante in Love , Dante Alighieri,
A.N. Wilson s perspective of Dante Alighieri as a poet, as well as a madman
According to (Wilson 2011), Dante Alighieri, author of the Divine Comedy, is a man whom
resembled both a poet and a madman. Wilson briefly emphasises in, Dante in Love , the two
contrasting depictions from Leonardo Bruni and Giovanni Boccaccio, of whom Dante was with
regards to the role that he played within the Florentine society and how it influenced him as a poet
in his work. (Sayers 1949), asserts that the Divine Comedy is an allegorical poem, influenced by,
Dante s theological, political and personal background .
(Wilson 2011), asserts fifteenth century writer,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The circle is broken up further into three separate sections of whom these acts of violence can be
imposed on. These sins of violence is taken on three different forms being: performing harm on
other people, harm on oneself or harm on God, as explain by Vigil in the eleventh canto of the
Divine Comedy (Sayers, Dante The Divine Comedy 1: Hell 1949).
The relationship between violence and Dante as a poet
The violence portrayed in the poem
The relationship between violence and madness
In accordance with the scenes of violence found in Dante s Inferno, a link can be found in Wilson s
argument that violent scenes within the poem can justify the possibility of Dante being both a
poet, as well as a madman. Dante s Inferno, as emphasised by A. N. Wilson, is a popular and
exciting read not only from the unpredictability of order of events (Dante wrote Inferno without
have a clear vision of how the poem will end), but for the poem s, sheer brilliance and beauty of
its words, its music , as well as for its, unforgettable characterization (Wilson 2011).

Game Theory In Water Resource Management
1. Introduction
Water resources management is involved with various beneficiaries that may have conflicting
interests (Veeren Tol 2003; Wei et al. 2010). Game theory based models have been used in water
resources management to address water conflicts and are recognized as appropriate methods (Wei
et al. 2010). Game theory and its mathematical background were proposed and used in economics
for the first time by Neumann and Morgenstern (1953). Different forms of games have been
suggested by many researchers to address water conflicts alongside other conflict resolution
methods such as Graph Model for Conflict Resolution (GMCR) (Kilgour 1995), Adjusted Winner
(Massoud 2000), and Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (Giordano et al. 2005). Game theory based ... Show

Many studies using game theory based methods have been carried out in water related fields
and, most importantly, in water resources management. Rogers (1969) applied a range of
strategies in the mold of cooperative game theory between India and Pakistan over flood control
issues of lower Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers. Young et al. (1982) compared the separable
costs remaining benefits (SCRB) method with simple proportional allocation schemes such as
Shapley value and Variants of the core, both belong to cooperative games family. Dinar et al.
(1992) used cooperative game theory to question reasonableness and acceptability of cooperation
in the use of irrigation water. Parrachino et al. (2006) published a review of different applications
of cooperative game theory considering various water uses such as multi objective water projects,
irrigation, groundwater, hydropower, urban water supply, sewage disposal and transboundary water
disputes. Raquel et al. (2007) applied game theory to a groundwater conflict in Mexico and tried to
balance benefits from agricultural production with negative environmental impacts among 12
alternative groundwater extraction scenarios. Mahjouri and Ardestani (2011) developed
cooperative and non cooperative models for a large scale water allocation problem

How Did Archimedes Impact The World
There are many engineers in the past that have made an impact on the world. One of those
engineers was Archimedes. He was born in Syracuse, Sicily in 287 BC. He is a mathematician,
engineer, astronomer, and an inventor. He is known for many devices and principles that he
invented. One of those devices was the Archimedes screw. He is also known for making the lever.
Archimedes inventions are still used today, just in a more modern way. These machines helped the
world drastically. If it wasn t for many of these famous engineers the world wouldn t be how it is
today. Not much of Archimedes life is known. Some things that are known is that Archimedes
father was Phidias, a famous astronomer. Also Archimedes might have studied in another place...

Archimedes died in 212 BC. This era was during the Second Punic War. The reason Archimedes
was killed was because a Roman soldier stabbed him with his sword because Archimedes was
holding some items. The soldier thought that those items were valuable but they were only
mathematical instruments. After Archimedes died some writings of his life were made by
historians in ancient Rome. Although some writing of his life were written they are not 100%
facts about what happened to Archimedes or about his life. One major invention Archimedes is
known for is the Archimedes screw, or also known as Archimedean screw. This invention is a
screw pump. This machine was used to bring water from low bodies of water to ditches of
irrigation. It also worked to remove water from mines. Another use of it was to drain land that
was underneath the sea. Doing this created polders, or land that s enclosed by dikes. The way
Archimedes made this was by getting a screw and a hollow pipe. This screw was moved either by
a windmill or manual labor. This invention helped move water quicker and more efficiently. This
machine has made a huge impact on everyday life because we still use this method when it comes
to pulling dirt out of the

The Fiction Film District 9 And The Novel Dawn
Throughout the years discrimination will always affect in today s society. Humans have made it
possible to change society and end slavery. Slavery has always been a delicate topic, especially
when it is experienced. Despite the differences between their color of their skin and culture slavery
was abolished. Aliens depict a different feature of slaverybut carry the same aspect. The novel
Dawn and the film District 9 describe slavery in the sense of learning and rejection from both
species. The science fiction film and literature have not changed as many still reveal humanization
with alienation in relation to our society. The artist of the science fiction history has brought

My understanding is that the prawns are surrounded by humans and should remain in the
section where only prawns are allowed. Prawns are contained in a section where they are
controlled not to escape or to cause any damages to any human. District 9 is enclosed with spike

are the black South African humans that were emerged to look into survival during the time of
Apartheid. The black South African was the humans that were inside district 9 with the prawns.
The black African people were treated the same as the prawns under their own oath. Another sign
of slavery is how the black Africans used their goods for trading with the prawns. The black
Africans also had a sort of power over them especially when they had cat food.

Negative Impression And Negative Impressions Essay
Fpositive impression and negative impression. Positive impressions are known as an impression
that results in accumulating dirt underneath the sole of the shoes and then depositing on a clean
surface. Negative impressions are known as impressions that are made by clean shoe stepping on a
dirty surface, thus removing dust from the surface where the shoesole made contact (1, 4). In figure
1, you can see the footwearimpression on a hard surface and soft surface resulting from positive
and negative impressions. The first area of comparison is the design on the outsole that is
produced, but there are thousands of outsole designs that are being produced. The details on
each sole vary from each other and each design has different sizes. Meaning, different types of
shoes are made with a different style of an outsole and each size has its own outsole design,
which gives further distinct characteristics to the outsole design even if the shoe is in the same
size. The resulting physical differences in the size and shape qualities of the sole is of additional
comparative usefulness in connecting or disassociating scene impressions with suspect s footwear.
In case, if a shoe has a plain outsole, then the physical size and shape is taken into account and can
still associate the suspect by comparing it with the impression lifted off from the crime scene. In
contrast, if a shoe s outsole has a design, physical size and shape can be taken into account to

Why Salary Caps Are Truly Unfair
The debates have gone on every sense the very first year free agency was introduced. I think
after all this paper is done I truly believe that I will be able to show you evidence on why salary
caps are truly unfair. So let s have some facts that prove my theory with facts from their lives.
Most coaches can look at talent and see potential at such a young age. When coaches see this
they push Athletes to the next level making them ready for the college. That s why you see kids
pushing themselves so hard in the gym, they think they can make it to the league. Look at it this
way, in all sports except baseball, the chances of going pro are less than 2%. So why pay these
guys what they worked their whole entire life for get paid, they honestly deserve it. Let s look at
it this way, Professional athletes have worked their entire life for everything they now have.
Salary caps are not a problem in sports, this has been a very heated debate throughout every year
in sports. There s new free agents every single year, with some of the potential who deserve
more than 300 million dollars over the next 10 years. Then there s some who don t even come
close to making 1 million on a one year deal. Many people sit here and could fire rapid shots on
why salary caps should be established in sports. While others believe that this could stop some
people of what they should be making. Thats besides the point, I 100% believe that salary caps
should be abolished in pro sports. I have some great

Terminal Value And Instrumental Value Research Paper
Values are different for each person. While one person might value reputation, another might value
inner harmony. In Chapter 5, values are defined as a collection of guiding principles that an
individual consider to be morally right and desirable in life. Furthermore, values are rank in terms
of how important the particular valueis to an individual and how intense their feels are about that
particular value. To illustrate, a person can value wealth and flexibility, but not at the same level. A
person might lower their value toward flexibility a little in order to increase their potential for
wealth. In addition, according to Milton Rokeach, we also organize values into two categories
called terminal values and instrumental values. Terminal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My current goals of becoming a successful artist has been the issue of conflict in terms of finding
balance for academic success and artist freedom. Since the age of eight or nine, I have always had
a dream of becoming an artist and having my art work displayed in museums across the country.
This goal started when my fourth grade teacher entered one of my watercolor painting into an art
show for the Mobile County public schools art contest. Much to my surprise, I won second place
for the entire fourth grade classes and the school body. This gave me the motivation to continue
to develop my skills and interests in the arts. However, as I was starting college, the reality of
finding time and balance to study for my coursework in radiology and devoting time for artistic
leisure had become difficult to obtain. In fact, the intensity of my coursework for the radiology
program denied me the chance to focus my time and attention on my artwork. Therefore, in
terms of ranking my personal values, my goals for academic success surpassed my endeavors as
an artist. Having focus on my value for success in my academics has led me to maintain my
desired grade point average (gpa) and also has gave opportunities to a few honor societies, and
achieve the qualifications in terms of gpa to apply for a variety of programs at different colleges
and universities. Although I was pleased in meeting my terminal goal in my academics, I also felt
dissatisfied that I often neglected one goal (art) for

Persuasive Essay On The Java House
The Java House, located on East Washington Street in Iowa City, Iowa is a major study hub for
students attending the University of Iowa. The founder, Tara Cronbaugh, opened the first Java
House locations in 1994 after taking a trip to The University of California, Berkeley and
developing a fascination with coffeehouse ambience. Cronbaugh admired the relaxing, yet social
environment of the coffee houses on Berkeley s campus. She felt she had a mission to bring that
same ambience to a place back in IowaCity for the students at The University of Iowa. Since then,
hundreds of University students visit the Java House every week to enjoy a wide range of
beverages or homemade pastries. However, The Java House has become much more of a study...

It makes logical sense to allow a table to be open for students who genuinely need to be there.
Another way The Java House convinces students at The University of Iowa to get their coffee to
go if they aren t going to study is by appealing to pathos, or emotions. The Java House engages all
the senses to promote a studious environment. Immediately entering the coffee shop, one will
notice it is dimly lit, with a darker color scheme and warm toned antique furniture. The color
scheme, as well as the lighting, invoke a sense of relaxation into University of Iowa student
customers that is perfect for studying and not so much for socialization. Although many students
have earbuds or headphones in, low volume, calm music plays throughout the shop. The music
volume and genre allow for students to stay on task and not to get distracted easily. The subtle
smell of coffee also engulfs the whole shop, creating an even more relaxing atmosphere. Lastly,
when looking around one will notice the vast majority of students are doing school work. All the
senses work together to communicate that The Java House is a quiet, relaxing environment ideal
for studying and productivity, not for friendly get togethers or dates. Therefore, if that was a
student s intention they should get their coffee and go somewhere else more lively, fun, or casual,
so they could better enjoy themselves and make sure not to disturb or distract those working at The
Java House.

My Role As An Educator
Throughout this term, we have learned various models of teaching such as: Reggio Emilia,
Montessori, Waldorf, Forest, HighScope and Head Start. My role as an educator is to implement a
variety of learning strategies taught to me. As I learned about each models of teaching, I still hold
my bias towards the Reggio Emilia Approach, but I also like some aspect of the HighScope
curriculum. In my personal philosophy, I will talk about what I believe to be an image of a child
and role of an educator. For instance, I believe that every child is unique in their own individual
way. They are viewed as being naturally curious about the environment around them, are full of
knowledge, creativity and have potential that they want connect to the world around them by
exploring freely. Children learn best through playing and exploring the environment around them
freely. There is nothing better that to get acquainted with nature and exploring real life
experiences. As an educator, we have to recognize the child as a whole and base our curriculum
according to their needs. For example, setting up a rich environment where the child can explore,
learn, and grown at his or her own pace of developmental level. Thus, I agree with Reggio Emilia
Approach, that children should be given rights and opportunities to develop to their full potential.
They view the child as beautiful, powerful, competent, creative, curious, full of potential and
ambitious desires that interested in connecting to the world

Research Paper: The Truth about the Model Minority
Hey you re good at math , Hey you re dumb for an Asian , Well of course he s good at that, he s
Asian . These are the phrases that defined my childhood and still are relevant to my daily life.
These are phrases are a part of what society calls today The Model Minority Myth . This all started
during World War II, where Chinese and Japanese Americans adopted a plan to promote
assimilation with the American people. With this plan, they succeeded in proving to America, that
they worked harder, were more focused on education to gain their success. While the other
minorities protest to get civil rights, the Asians gained their rights by just ... Show more content on

It robs them of their own path. It sets a path for them, whether it may be good or bad. Although its
not the end of the world for them, it could set up a nightmarish future for the Asian children. Those
Asians are left in the dark, those Asians are looking at long and dark road with no aid what so
ever. By putting all Asians into one category, is no different than the racial discrimination of the
1960s in the United States of America towards African Americans. Although not as bad, the general
idea is the same. In today s society, where we promote equality and fairness, how are we going to
let the Model Minority run rampant? Although the Model Minority may seem positive, it has dire
consequences. The Model Minority myth not only effects the education system but altercations
with the law as well. There is the story of Kuanchang Kao, an intoxicated Chinese American fatally
shot in 1997 by police threatened by his martial arts moves. (Why Ferguson Should Matter to Asian
Americans) As said in the article, this incident parallels the incident that has happened in Ferguson
but did not receive national attention that the Ferguson case has gotten. This is mostly like due to
the Model Minority. As it puts Asian Americans in a spotlight of success and makes Asian
Americans disregard the validity of their struggles. Jack Linshi says that due to the Model Minority
the idea of the Asian Americanstruggle has been erased from the American

Minority Health
It is no coincidence that it is called poor health. What I mean is that the people who have it hardest
in this country, those with the lowest incomes, have the worst health. It could just as easily be
called minority health, rather than poor health, because the majority of the people living in poverty
are racial or ethnic minorities. Many racial minorities in the US suffer from poor health, but not
because they have worsegenetics, rather from worse educational opportunities. This is a problem of
all those in poverty, but since a disproportionate amount of those in poverty are minorities; I am

Although there are a few race related diseases, such as sickle cell anemia, the illnesses that are
killing the minority population are environment related, like Coronary Heart Disease. In a study
done by Alan Goodman, he cites four important points about race and genetics:
1.The concept of race is based on the idea of fixed, ideal and unchanging types
Racial categories date back to the days of ancient empires, and haven t changed significantly since
then, despite the huge changes in cultures since those times. There has obviously been a huge
amount of racial mixture since those times, and the concept of race now is just an archaic social
construct.
2.Human Variation is continuous
These racial categories are completely arbitrary. There is no way a clear line can be drawn between
the races, and all races relate on a gradient today.
3.Human Variation is nonconcordant
What he means by this is that traits vary independently of other traits. Since race only really
correlates with skin, hair, and eye color, there is no basis for the claim that certain diseases go
along with a certain race. Sickle cell anemia may affect equatorial Africans, but also Greeks and
Turks. This shows how the traits vary independently.
4.Within Group Variation is much greater than variation among races
There are many studies that show within closely related racial groups, like Hopi Indians, there is
only about

Critically Assess the Strategy of Argos
Business strategy is a decision a company takes in order to create and maintain value by
coordinating business resources and finding ways to develop and capitalise on the organisation s
competitive advantages over a period of time (Grant, 2014). However, these strategies can be
affected either positively or negatively with a major decision such as mergers and acquisition or
political, social and technological factors. Hence, this essay will critically assess factors affecting
the strategy of Argos. Argos s strategy continues to be building a contemporary market leading

Another way to assess the market for a business is through PEST analysis. Where PEST stands
for political, economic, social and technological factors which can influence a business strategy
(Grant, 2014). Political uncertainty fuelled by Brexit (the decision of the UK to leave the EU)
will affect the immigration status of some employees, with Argo s risk losing some of its
employees. A possible adjustment of trade regulations, federal minimum wage or requirement
for permits and licenses will impact Argos operations. For example, if companies must pay
considerably to sponsor work permit for their non UK employees or must carry out periodic
sustainability assessments (Business.hsbc.uk, 2017). The company will spend a lot of time and
money to comply with regulations, ultimately proving ineffective and will affect business aims
and objective. However, such regulations could prove useful in shifting manufacturing to the UK
and hence a supply chain that is robust and sustainable, leading to a more flexible cost base. In
an economic sense, the sharp drop in the value of the GB pound against the US dollars resulting
from the knock on effect of Brexit will lead increase in supply chain costs since UK retail is to a
large extent dependent on imports, most of which are purchased in US dollars, ultimately leading to
an inflexible operational cost

What Is Sexism
Sexism is a form of discrimination that harms both males and females. Sexism is not only
practiced in culture but it is reinforced in schools through hidden curriculum. In order for the this
issue to be eradicated you need to make people aware that gender discrimination still exist in
todays society. This essay will discuss the issue of sexism. Sexism is a human rights concern as it
violates rights of women by not being treated equally and violates the right to freedom of
expression for men. Gender rolestereotypes are socially constructed by society following the view
of functionalism, conflict theory and symbolic interaction. There are two types of sexism
benevolent sexism and hostile sexism that affects both genders. Sexism impacts negatively on
education in regards to girls, causing girls to feel uncomfortable, unwelcomed and scared and
leads to them dropping out of school. Examples provided discusses some peoples experiences of

Tonoplast Experiment
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Even though alcohol does not actually kill brain cells, it still can damage the brain. It does this by
damaging the dendrites (Krucik, 2013) which are the branch like ends of the brain cells. Dendrites
are used for passing messages from one neuron to another, therefore damage to dendrites can cause
severe cognitive problems. (Lexton, 2016)
Alcohols:
Ethanol is found in alcoholic beverages and is a two carbon molecule. (Wilmar, 2014)
Methanol, sometimes referred to as wood alcohol, can cause blindness and death and it is also a
one carbon molecule. (Turnon, 2016) Propanol is fatal if consumed and is a three carbon
molecule. One reason why they are so dangerous to living organisms is that they can damage
dendrites, as mentioned before. However, many studies have come to conclusion that this is only
possible if a human consumes a certain amount and concentration of alcohol. This is the reason why
I am testing the effects at different concentrations: (0%, 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%).

Tonoplast is quite large and typically contains water. In beetroot plants, this membrane bound
vacuole (Tonoplast) also contains a water soluble red pigment, betacyanin, which is what gives
beetroot its colour. (Bjarnadottir, 2014) Due to the fact that the pigment is water soluble, not lipid
soluble, it remains in the vacuole when the cells are healthy. However if the integrity of a
membrane is disturbed, then the contents of the vacuole will release into the surrounding
environment. (Bjarnadottir, 2014)This usually means the cell is dead. If beetroot membranes are
damaged red pigment will leak out into the surrounding environment. Although these cells are not
the same as the dendrites they can still act as a model for a cellular damage analysis. This is why I
have chosen beetroot to serve as my biological membrane . As well as this beetroot contains

football has become an essential part of Sunday plans to over 250 million people. While
numerous people of all ages watch the sport, many people play it as well. This includes over one
million high schoolers who participate in the sport at their schools. For many, football games are
some of the most memorable high schoolmoments. However, football isn t all about the fans and
school spirit; the players themselves face enormous risks just by stepping out on the field.
Concussions and other health concerns have become more common than ever in football,
especially with the youth. A concussionis a traumatic brain injury, and in sports, they are usually
caused by an impact or blow to the head. These injuries leave a lasting impact and can greatly
impact one s life. High school football is too dangerous in today s world due to the extensive and
life threatening injuries that commonly occur in the sport. First and foremost, kids and teens are
prone to getting concussions, and they can result in some short term effects. For example, they are
the most notable injury found in young athletes. Out of kids 18 and under, about 1.1 1.9 million
sports related concussions occur every year in the United States alone (Yang). In addition, there
may be some symptoms that occur directly after the incident takes place. This includes headaches,
blurred vision, and nausea. It is also common for a collision to occur and the athlete remain
conscious during the event (CDC). Similarly, there are some different symptoms that tend to show
up shortly after the injury. If someone faces excessive fatigue, sensitivity to light, and changes in
sleep patterns, then there s a possibility that they have suffered from a concussion (Injuries).
Although these short term effects can impact a person s daily life for a little while, the long term
effects are detrimental. Consequently, concussions can cause life changing alterations further on in
time. The real danger lies in repetitive concussions and returning before it has fully healed.
According to Jingzhen Yang, Untreated or improperly managed concussions can increase the risk of

Pennsylvania V. Taylor Edsel Case Summary
Common Wealth of Pennsylvania v. Taylor Edsel is a controversial case involving arson. Taylor
Edsel is being accused of intentionally setting fire to Nash Flash Electromotive due to her
suspicious presence in the scene, her relation with the company, and her prominent record as an
arsonist. The burning of the facility caused a commotion because the head of the company was a
successful story of redemption, and a man a few steps away from revolutionizing the car industry
with the Nash Flash, an electric car. Salve DeSoto is an engineer that interacted with Taylor Edsel
in the workplace, thus, based on the outcomes of their interaction decided to testify against her.

In terms of proving that Taylor is guilty, Salve s witness statement does not provide helpful
information because she testified that she did not have contact with Taylor on July 4th, 2016
(163). Nonetheless, her testimony provides compelling support for the defense side. In October
2015, Salve met Stu D Baker, prominent in the car industry and who also happen to be
developing an electric car, in a conference (99 100). After the conference, D Baker informed
Salve that Nash had stolen the idea of the Nash Flash from him (114). Around November of
2015, Salve contacted Mr. D Baker, and he offered her a job, which she accepted, despite having
knowledge of the tense relation that he had with Nash (135 142). The actions performed by both
challenge their morality, and moreover, DeSoto s credibility as a witness. The previous point
mainly benefits the defense side because D Baker is strongly portrayed as a suspect. His actions
clearly reveal his desire to retaliate against Nash, hence, creating reasonable doubt, and furthermore,
compromising the validation of Taylor s

A Comparison of Self-Descriptions Between 2 Children of...
A comparison of self descriptions between two children of different ages
Abstract
The comparison is based on Rosenberg s study of children s self descriptions. A comparison was
made between two participants, Annie aged 8 and Kirsty aged 16 using a semi structured
interview to find out whether there was a difference in self descriptions at different ages. The
results were analysed using qualitative analysis and it was found that younger children give more
physical self descriptions and older children give more self descriptions in terms of inner feelings.
This coincides with previous research conducted by Rosenberg. From this study and previous
research it is possible to suggest that there is a developmental trend of children s ... Show more

nature of the research and were told why the research is being carried out in order to comply with
ethical guidelines. The participants were then instructed to write 10 I statements about themselves
to answer the question who am I? on the category analysis form. The participants were told that
there are no right or wrong answers and that they can write as much or as little as they would like

were stopped while the participants filled in the I statements . Once the participants had written the
I statements the recording equipment was turned back on and the interviewer asked the
participants questions relating to what they had written. The style in which the interviewer asked
questions was based on Rosenberg s study of self descriptions. These included questions regarding
feelings of pride and shame, their ideas of distinctiveness as unique individuals, what kind of
person they would like to become, and who knew them best in order to determine the locus of self

Welcome to the New Jersey, just one of America s many colonies. Our 13 colonies are split into

The Constitutional Convention Of The United States Essay
After the colonies had seceded from Britain they realized that the lack of a strong central
government created a United States that was not so united . As described in a Brilliant Solution, by
Carol Berkin, the problems derived from the Articles of Confederation required a resolution that no
one would have ever imaged. That solution would be the Constitutional Convention, taking place
from May to September of 1787 in Philadelphia. This convention would result in our Constitution,
the living, breathing, vital document we still use to this day.
Throughout its early years, America didn t have many rules that it was governed by. Henry Knox
once declared, Our present federal government is a name, a shadow, without power, or effect.
Under the rules of the Articles of Confederation, the government could declare war, conduct
foreign affairs, and make treaties; however, the states held the majority of power and were
treated like countries. With that in mind, bills couldn t be passed because, with no executive or
judicial branch, congress couldn t levy taxes and required the consent of the states to pass the
aforementioned bills. Since the government was weak, it was easy for the British to overpower
them. Eventually, people realized how wrong the Articles were, and each state sent their own
delegates to a convention that was soon to begin in Philadelphia in order to fix its problems. The
55 men invited to the Convention were not gods, but they were far from ordinary; most of the

Argumeative Essay Hasty Generalization
When writing an argumentative essay, there are certain debate skills that different writers like to
use. However, there are also many poor choices in writing that many people make, known as
fallacies. These fallacies can damage the argument presented in ones paper, whether it is used on
purpose or not.
One big example of a fallacy is known as Hasty Generalization . People use hasty generalization
when they make assumptions on a whole group of people, based on only a small sample. For
example, if somebody went to a Texas Roadhouse and received terrible customer service from their
waitress, and then wrote about how awful Texas Roadhouses waitresses are, he/she would be using
hasty generalization. That person would be giving his opinion of the company as a whole, based
only on one waitress at one restaurant. In an argumentative essay, your argumentwill not be very
strong is you are using this fallacy.
Another common fallacy, especially in marketing and commercials, is Appeal to Authority . This
fallacy is used when somebody uses a well known person to help convince the audience of their
view. Although this trick may work in advertising,it should be avoided when writing. Just because
Joe Keery says Dominos Pizza is the best does not make it true. If, however, somebody quoted a

and I got an A on my test today, therefor eating pizza must make me smarter . Obviously there is

a paper. Maybe somebody states that in 2004, crime stated increasing in New York, and Facebook
also launched in 2004, so Facebook must be the reason for the increase in crime. Although it is
possible that Facebook could have had a small role, there is no evidence or confirmation that this is

John Locke Secondary Qualities
The mechanical philosophy, treats objects in a fairly counterintuitive way. Objects contain both
primary and secondary qualities, this idea was really pounded into the philosophical canon by
John Locke. Primary qualities consist of size, shape and motion, and pretty much everything
else is a secondary qualities. Colors, flavors, sounds, smells, warmth/cool are all qualities that
Locke vehemently claims to be secondary. This is because, as Locke argues, these qualities are
not really in the object, they are not a physical attribute of the body. Whereas primary qualities
are actually contained within the body. Some compelling arguments attempt to prove that all
qualities are actually in the body, making it clear that there is only one kind of quality, and it is a
primary one. But this claim is wildly off base. In fact, not only is it untrue that all qualities are
primary, but also all qualities are not primary. Berkeley s theories of ideas are much more
believable and far more rational. All perceived qualities are and must be secondary, as the term is...

Take a grain of wheat, Locke says, again in An Essay Concerning Human Understanding, divide
it into two parts, each part has still solidity, extension, figure, and mobility; divide it again and it
retains all the same qualities. ( VIII, 9) Locke is half correct in this situation. He is right in
asserting that an object, if divided will still have all the same qualities, but they will have
different versions of those qualities. Not only that, the body will change. If you take a grain of
wheat and split it in two, sure, it will retain all of the same qualities, but it will be a different
object. If you divide a grain of wheat in two, you will have two half grains of wheat. Neither of
these half grains is a full grain, they can t be. So they simply cannot have the same qualities, and

Similar results were seen in data collected from thirty eight nurses by conducting separate
interviews to explain the occurrence of faults when giving medications. One of the simplest tasks
that patients entrust their nurse to be performing before administration of medications is, checking
that the medication correlates to the patient. It is imperative for all nurses to be participating in
double checking medications to ensure it corresponds with the patient. In this study paediatric
nurses participated in interviews to see if nurses are truly checking medications. Furthermore,
home healthcare nurses were studied to verify their perception on protocol for double checking

Environmental Ethnographic Research
In many ways, conservation and environmental photography are closely related in their approach,
and some even use the terms synonymously. In my view, conservation photography has existed in
some form well before iLCP was established (see Ch. 3). Over the last decade, I suggest
conservation photography has expanded to a wider reaching photography, as I use the term here,
environmental photography. Several photographers compelled by what they uncover in their work
looked to do more. At this time, NGOs and environmental organizations also realized a different
approach was necessary to communicate to the public and decision makers about environmental
causes and recognized conservation photographers skill and contribution to tell these stories....

The environmental photographer is often driven by a political agenda to expose damage, human
impact, pollution, solutions to these problems and in a sense a warning cry about the impact of
humanity on our earth as well as the power of the natural world (Ed Kashi, personal
communication, January 20, 2011). Another photographer said, The work of photographers
specializing in environmental issues is actually the combination of social and environmental
activism. Straight nature photography is responsible to inspiring the viewer and connecting them to
a love of nature in (hopefully) all of us, where as environmental photojournalism is responsible for
taking that consciousness to the next level of being more aware of the human effects on nature and
the need to protect it (Bridget Besaw, personal communication, March 2, 2011). Like this, the
environmental photographer uses the camera to reveal the decay or spoiled land, endangered
cultures and wildlife, loss of open spaces, impoverished human life, environmental injustice, rising
sea levels, pollution, global warming, and other ecological concerns causing the degradation of the
Earth. They question what they see and purposefully use photography and all media to send a
message about what is happening in the world. Hence, environmental photographers are visual
advocates for people, places, spaces, nature, and sea and driven by a social responsibility to protect
the entire environment. Both nature and environmental photographers visually document the
beauty of the natural world. Environmental photography however, is more than what a place looks
like, that is nature photography. Different, the environmental photographer depicts what was once
beautiful is now damaged and destroyed

Black And Blue , by Louis Armstrong and We Wear The Mask , by Paul Laurence Dunbar both
take a further meaning in a profound way of Ellison s work. Louis Armstrong poetically writes
what did I do? Tell me, what did I do to be so black and blue? The way in which it flows suggests
that Armstrong brings what happens in society (desegregation) and incorporates it into his lyrics.
The tempo of the song makes me question, was he sad or happy. Are the lyrics making him out
to be black or white? Black and Blue is a completely different concept and teaching from We

The Techniques Used By Emergency Medical Services
Introduction
The topic proposed for research is to discuss and compare the techniques used by emergency
medical services to fully immobilise a patient with suspected spinal injuries with two highly
debatable methods, Spine Immobilisation and Spinal Motion Restriction (SMR). The research
collected will determine the safest and most practical technique, comparing the advantages and
disadvantages of the two.
Discussion
Spinal Immobilisation involves the use of a number of devices to stabilize the spine after injury,
which will consequently prevent further damage to the spine, spinal cord, surrounding tissue and
vital organs. Spinal motion restriction on the other hand, can be described as being the preferred
practice amongst emergency medical practitioners. Spinal motion restriction aims to maintain the
spine in anatomic alignment and reduce the amount of movement as much as possible. (Physicians,
2015)
Spinal immobilisation is considered for utilization for two specific patient groups: (1) unconscious
injury victims and (2) any patient with a motion injury. These two specific groups lead to the
perception that these patients have a possible spinal injury and immobilisation is required.
(M.J.Sanders, 2010) Applying clear, clinical guidelines for evaluating a possible spinal injury in a
patient can support the accuracy of pre hospital assessment. The following signs and symptoms may
assist in the decision of full spinal immobilisation:

Comparing Kant, Liberal Legacies And Foreign Affairs
In Kant, Liberal Legacies, and Foreign Affairs, Doyle attempts to disprove the Realist political
system while advocating for the Liberal political system using second opinions and various forms
of evidence. Doyle creates a strong case for the adoption of liberal democracies within states
because, as he explains, promotes peace between them. He discusses the fact that states who adopt
a domestic liberal system hold the same key institutions and these create a pacifist effect among
liberal states. Throughout his paper, Doyle addresses a couple main items. The first being the fact
that liberal states do not go to war with other liberal states, and the second being the fact that despite
remaining peaceable with each other, liberal states have problems with many other non liberal
states. Throughout his paper, Doyle discusses the liberalismwill bring peace rule as if it is already
proven and true despite historical evidence, and can be used to predict an outcome for the future.
This type of discussion is for a law and not a hypothesis. Doyle also seems to claim that the
political nature of the individual state will solely determine its policies and actions. He discredits

Analysis on the Standard of Living in the Industrial Revolution Debate
Before the Industrial Revolution, Great Britain s economy relied heavily on agriculture, which at
that point of time was based a flawed system dating back to the Middle Ages. This system, known
as the open field system, showed agricultural inefficiencies, and was disallowing of innovation.
These inefficiencies eventually led to the privatization of land for agriculture, in an effort to solve
what is now commonly referred to as the tragedy of the commons . Great Britain was now moving
forward, and as the country (and continent) began enclosing their land, Britain began a period of
modernization, with new technologies that would increase productivity in industry to a level never
before seen. This is the period commonly referred to as the Industrial Revolution, and was an era of
unprecedented growth in industry from the middle of the 18th century until around the middle of
the 19th century. In 1760, 53% of the British population worked in agriculture. By 1840, that had
dropped to 29%. The evolution from water and wind power to steam engines, as well as the creation
of many pieces of machinery for the textile industry (such as the Spinning Jenny, which reduced the
production time on yarn) vastly improved British manufacturing of goods, and the reliance on
agriculture continued to drop. The development from an agricultural focus

therefore childish; but now many refer to themselves as an otaku.
Though accepted common stereotypes about the culture and its population still persist. The most
prominent misconceptions include the belief that otaku are nothing but lazy, incompetent men that
are all N.E.E.T. or hikikomori, not in education employment or training and someone who shuts
themselves in there room away from society respectively, that don t contribute to society in any
meaningful way. Some believe that everything otaku related is like a cancer infecting and affecting
the healthy parts of society which is like calling it criminal to be an otaku. The perverted, lazy, and
deadbeat otaku only make up the smallest but most visible portion of otaku society.
The prevalent stereotypes about the otaku/anime fans is easily viewed when typing in google why

Educational Psychology Class Analysis
In the first week of the second semester starts on my long road of potentially becoming a teacher.
My Educational Psychology class had me thinking and analyzing the issues in the world
specifically education. I have always known that there are issues in the world of education but I
didn t know some of the issues are close to home such as our community of De Pere. The issues,
conversations we talked about included the high rates of poverty in children, America s drum major
instinct, and the opportunity gap. All these issues pose a significant issue in our educational system
and lives of children.
Before I get into the detail of what I have learned over the course of three class periods I would
like to address how blessed and thankful I am. While I always try to tell myself that it can
always be worse or that there are many other individuals who are struggling to live. I do not
always follow that lesson. However, by watching videos, in addition with the readings and our
class lectures helped me remind myself of the daily struggles people live by. I will admit I m not
the individual who lives in a gated community and has their own car but I have never had ... Show

The opportunity gap is a difference in scores based off two groups. The two groups can be
designated between ethnicity, gender, and economic status. In the state of Wisconsin, standardized
tests and the graduation rate is used to measure the opportunity gap. For example, in third grade
reading African American students scored 26.6 percent lower than Caucasian students in proficient
reading. While I m not exactly a fan of the concept of measuring students learning by standardized
tests the gaps do stay consistent with graduation rates. In the 2012 2013 high school Graduation
Class measured in four years that African American students had a 27.6 percent lower than
Caucasian Students. Before the class lecture, I didn t know how big our opportunity gap

The Citizen Report (2007) attempted to analyze the progress towards realization of MDGs in the
Madhya Pradesh (MP). The study found that Madhya Pradesh had huge poverty especially the
urban poverty. The decline in poverty was slow. Urban poverty was also the fall out of rural
poverty as very and poor move to urban slums to eke out livelihood. The report revealed that the
present situation did not reflect that povertygoals could be fulfilled by 2015. Efforts are required to
enhance livelihood avenues in rural areas. Non farm sector development and industrialization need
to be given adequate attention. On the educationfront, the study suggested that efforts are required
to make investments for schools so as to increase access... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Forest produce usage should be in favour of tribal and locals as they can manage minor produce
to generate income. Exclusion of people from forest would not help them. Employment guarantee
scheme has to be implemented more properly. Labour market information has to be improved
and migration controlled. Financing is a major problem. Funds need to be properly utilized for
social sector. There has to be short term, medium term and long term plans for financing health
related projects. Finances have to be mobilized from both public and private sources. The inter
linkages of various sectors and linkage of economy with outside are important. Trade can work
both ways, but efforts should be to use it effectively for betterment of poor. Tax structure requires a
re look to mobilize more resources for investment in social sector. Institutions delivering services
are weak and they need to be strengthened and new one created to have greater efficiency. Costing
of specific intervention also require attention as it would depend up on institutions and policy
environment. Selecting the best delivery system/ mechanism will reduce costs. Most MDGs cost
estimates use a one size fit all approach, based on linear relationships, which may not be true
always. The cost of expanding the coverage of a service in health and education by an extra ten
percentage points, for instance would depend on

Cultural identity refers to the feeling belonging to a certain culture that is attributed to the
upbringing of an individual in the given culture. Cultural identity gives a person the sense of

In most case, identity is shaped by culture. Since culture is a set of ideals life practices, routines
and attitudes set up by a certain community hence culture plays a major role in shaping the
identity of an individual. An individual s character and attributes can be because of their
background. This is due to the set up that one has grown up (Dumas 19). People tend to learn
more about their culture, and as they grow up it becomes part of them. They embrace the culture s
beliefs and tend to do things following the set routines. The aspect of following the set routine and
beliefs play a significant part in shaping the identity of an individual. The identity of an individual
is evident in a person from the things that they do about their culture. Some individuals with the
knowledge that they have acquired from their culture are willing to carry out activities depicting
their knowledge. A person s identity can be known from the way they express themselves in
relation to their culture, his notion brings about the aspect of one s identity in relation to their

  • 2. Bell Jar Depression While it is sad, it is interesting to see how depression can slowly break down an individual to someone who feels nothing but apathy. For people who struggle with the illness, no happy thoughts can changed how they perceive the life and the world around them. It s not as easy as getting a massage or thinking happy thoughts to change their mood and take away all that sadness, emptiness, and all that negative self talk. The Bell Jar is a contemplation of the despairing life of Esther Greenwood and her descent into darkness. She personifies the actual mental struggle and the tumultuous life of the author, Sylvia Plath who, at a very young age suffered from clinical depression. • 4. Game Theory In Water Resource Management 1. Introduction Water resources management is involved with various beneficiaries that may have conflicting interests (Veeren Tol 2003; Wei et al. 2010). Game theory based models have been used in water resources management to address water conflicts and are recognized as appropriate methods (Wei et al. 2010). Game theory and its mathematical background were proposed and used in economics for the first time by Neumann and Morgenstern (1953). Different forms of games have been suggested by many researchers to address water conflicts alongside other conflict resolution methods such as Graph Model for Conflict Resolution (GMCR) (Kilgour 1995), Adjusted Winner (Massoud 2000), and Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (Giordano et al. 2005). Positive impressions are known as an impression that results in accumulating dirt underneath the sole of the shoes and then depositing on a clean surface. Negative impressions are known as impressions that are made by clean shoe stepping on a dirty surface, thus removing dust from the surface where the shoesole made contact (1, 4). In figure 1, you can see the footwearimpression on a hard surface and soft surface resulting from positive and negative impressions. The first area of comparison is the design on the outsole that is produced, but there are thousands of outsole designs that are being produced. The details on each sole vary from each other and each design has different sizes. Meaning, different types of shoes are made with a different style of an outsole and each size has its own outsole design, which gives further distinct characteristics to the outsole design even if the shoe is in the same size. The resulting physical differences in the size and shape qualities of the sole is of additional comparative usefulness in connecting or disassociating scene impressions with suspect s footwear. In case, if a shoe has a plain outsole, then the physical size and shape is taken into account and can still associate the suspect by comparing it with the impression lifted off from the crime scene. I think after all this paper is done I truly believe that I will be able to show you evidence on why salary caps are truly unfair. So let s have some facts that prove my theory with facts from their lives. Most coaches can look at talent and see potential at such a young age. When coaches see this they push Athletes to the next level making them ready for the college. That s why you see kids pushing themselves so hard in the gym, they think they can make it to the league. Look at it this way, in all sports except baseball, the chances of going pro are less than 2%. So why pay these guys what they worked their whole entire life for get paid, they honestly deserve it. Let s look at it this way, Professional athletes have worked their entire life for everything they now have. Salary caps are not a problem in sports, this has been a very heated debate throughout every year in sports. There s new free agents every single year, with some of the potential who deserve more than 300 million dollars over the next 10 years. Then there s some who don t even come close to making 1 million on a one year deal. Many people sit here and could fire rapid shots on why salary caps should be established in sports. While others believe that this could stop some people of what they should be making. Thats besides the point, I 100% believe that salary caps should be abolished in pro sports. I have some great ... This goal started when my fourth grade teacher entered one of my watercolor painting into an art show for the Mobile County public schools art contest. Much to my surprise, I won second place for the entire fourth grade classes and the school body. This gave me the motivation to continue to develop my skills and interests in the arts. Another way The Java House convinces students at The University of Iowa to get their coffee to go if they aren t going to study is by appealing to pathos, or emotions. The Java House engages all the senses to promote a studious environment. Immediately entering the coffee shop, one will notice it is dimly lit, with a darker color scheme and warm toned antique furniture. The color scheme, as well as the lighting, invoke a sense of relaxation into University of Iowa student customers that is perfect for studying and not so much for socialization. Although many students have earbuds or headphones in, low volume, calm music plays throughout the shop. The music volume and genre allow for students to stay on task and not to get distracted easily. My role as an educator is to implement a variety of learning strategies taught to me. As I learned about each models of teaching, I still hold my bias towards the Reggio Emilia Approach, but I also like some aspect of the HighScope curriculum. In my personal philosophy, I will talk about what I believe to be an image of a child and role of an educator. For instance, I believe that every child is unique in their own individual way. They are viewed as being naturally curious about the environment around them, are full of knowledge, creativity and have potential that they want connect to the world around them by exploring freely. Children learn best through playing and exploring the environment around them freely. There is nothing better that to get acquainted with nature and exploring real life experiences. As an educator, we have to recognize the child as a whole and base our curriculum according to their needs. For example, setting up a rich environment where the child can explore, learn, and grown at his or her own pace of developmental level. Thus, I agree with Reggio Emilia Approach, that children should be given rights and opportunities to develop to their full potential. Although there are a few race related diseases, such as sickle cell anemia, the illnesses that are killing the minority population are environment related, like Coronary Heart Disease. In a study done by Alan Goodman, he cites four important points about race and genetics: 1.The concept of race is based on the idea of fixed, ideal and unchanging types Racial categories date back to the days of ancient empires, and haven t changed significantly since then, despite the huge changes in cultures since those times. There has obviously been a huge amount of racial mixture since those times, and the concept of race now is just an archaic social construct. 2.Human Variation is continuous These racial categories are completely arbitrary. There is no way a clear line can be drawn between the races, and all races relate on a gradient today. 3.Human Variation is nonconcordant What he means by this is that traits vary independently of other traits. Since race only really correlates with skin, hair, and eye color, there is no basis for the claim that certain diseases go along with a certain race. Sickle cell anemia may affect equatorial Africans, but also Greeks and Turks. This shows how the traits vary independently. 4.Within Group Variation is much greater than variation among races There are many studies that show within closely related racial groups, like Hopi Indians, there is only about ... It does this by damaging the dendrites (Krucik, 2013) which are the branch like ends of the brain cells. This includes over one million high schoolers who participate in the sport at their schools. For many, football games are some of the most memorable high schoolmoments. Concussions and other health concerns have become more common than ever in football, especially with the youth. High school football is too dangerous in today s world due to the extensive and life threatening injuries that commonly occur in the sport. First and foremost, kids and teens are prone to getting concussions, and they can result in some short term effects. For example, they are the most notable injury found in young athletes. Out of kids 18 and under, about 1.1 1.9 million sports related concussions occur every year in the United States alone (Yang). In addition, there may be some symptoms that occur directly after the incident takes place. This includes headaches, blurred vision, and nausea. It is also common for a collision to occur and the athlete remain conscious during the event (CDC). Similarly, there are some different symptoms that tend to show up shortly after the injury. If someone faces excessive fatigue, sensitivity to light, and changes in sleep patterns, then there s a possibility that they have suffered from a concussion (Injuries). Although these short term effects can impact a person s daily life for a little while, the long term effects are detrimental. Consequently, concussions can cause life changing alterations further on in time. The real danger lies in repetitive concussions and returning before it has fully healed. According to Jingzhen Yang, Untreated or improperly managed concussions can increase the risk of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Taylor Edsel is being accused of intentionally setting fire to Nash Flash Electromotive due to her suspicious presence in the scene, her relation with the company, and her prominent record as an arsonist. The burning of the facility caused a commotion because the head of the company was a successful story of redemption, and a man a few steps away from revolutionizing the car industry with the Nash Flash, an electric car. In terms of proving that Taylor is guilty, Salve s witness statement does not provide helpful information because she testified that she did not have contact with Taylor on July 4th, 2016 (163). In October 2015, Salve met Stu D Baker, prominent in the car industry and who also happen to be developing an electric car, in a conference (99 100). After the conference, D Baker informed Salve that Nash had stolen the idea of the Nash Flash from him (114). Around November of 2015, Salve contacted Mr. D Baker, and he offered her a job, which she accepted, despite having knowledge of the tense relation that he had with Nash (135 142). The actions performed by both challenge their morality, and moreover, DeSoto s credibility as a witness. • 25. The Constitutional Convention Of The United States Essay After the colonies had seceded from Britain they realized that the lack of a strong central government created a United States that was not so united . As described in a Brilliant Solution, by Carol Berkin, the problems derived from the Articles of Confederation required a resolution that no one would have ever imaged. That solution would be the Constitutional Convention, taking place from May to September of 1787 in Philadelphia. This convention would result in our Constitution, the living, breathing, vital document we still use to this day. Throughout its early years, America didn t have many rules that it was governed by. Henry Knox once declared, Our present federal government is a name, a shadow, without power, or effect. Under the rules of the Articles of Confederation, the government could declare war, conduct foreign affairs, and make treaties; however, the states held the majority of power and were treated like countries. With that in mind, bills couldn t be passed because, with no executive or judicial branch, congress couldn t levy taxes and required the consent of the states to pass the aforementioned bills. Since the government was weak, it was easy for the British to overpower them. Eventually, people realized how wrong the Articles were, and each state sent their own delegates to a convention that was soon to begin in Philadelphia in order to fix its problems. • 26. Argumeative Essay Hasty Generalization When writing an argumentative essay, there are certain debate skills that different writers like to use. However, there are also many poor choices in writing that many people make, known as fallacies. These fallacies can damage the argument presented in ones paper, whether it is used on purpose or not. One big example of a fallacy is known as Hasty Generalization . People use hasty generalization when they make assumptions on a whole group of people, based on only a small sample. For example, if somebody went to a Texas Roadhouse and received terrible customer service from their waitress, and then wrote about how awful Texas Roadhouses waitresses are, he/she would be using hasty generalization. That person would be giving his opinion of the company as a whole, based only on one waitress at one restaurant. In an argumentative essay, your argumentwill not be very strong is you are using this fallacy. Another common fallacy, especially in marketing and commercials, is Appeal to Authority . This fallacy is used when somebody uses a well known person to help convince the audience of their view. Although this trick may work in advertising,it should be avoided when writing. • 27. John Locke Secondary Qualities The mechanical philosophy, treats objects in a fairly counterintuitive way. Objects contain both primary and secondary qualities, this idea was really pounded into the philosophical canon by John Locke. Primary qualities consist of size, shape and motion, and pretty much everything else is a secondary qualities. Colors, flavors, sounds, smells, warmth/cool are all qualities that Locke vehemently claims to be secondary. This is because, as Locke argues, these qualities are not really in the object, they are not a physical attribute of the body. Whereas primary qualities are actually contained within the body. Some compelling arguments attempt to prove that all qualities are actually in the body, making it clear that there is only one kind of quality, and it is a primary one. But this claim is wildly off base. In fact, not only is it untrue that all qualities are primary, but also all qualities are not primary. He is right in asserting that an object, if divided will still have all the same qualities, but they will have different versions of those qualities. Not only that, the body will change. Another photographer said, The work of photographers specializing in environmental issues is actually the combination of social and environmental activism. Straight nature photography is responsible to inspiring the viewer and connecting them to a love of nature in (hopefully) all of us, where as environmental photojournalism is responsible for taking that consciousness to the next level of being more aware of the human effects on nature and the need to protect it (Bridget Besaw, personal communication, March 2, 2011). The Techniques Used By Emergency Medical Services Introduction The topic proposed for research is to discuss and compare the techniques used by emergency medical services to fully immobilise a patient with suspected spinal injuries with two highly debatable methods, Spine Immobilisation and Spinal Motion Restriction (SMR). The research collected will determine the safest and most practical technique, comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the two. Discussion Spinal Immobilisation involves the use of a number of devices to stabilize the spine after injury, which will consequently prevent further damage to the spine, spinal cord, surrounding tissue and vital organs. Spinal motion restriction on the other hand, can be described as being the preferred practice amongst emergency medical practitioners. Spinal motion restriction aims to maintain the spine in anatomic alignment and reduce the amount of movement as much as possible. (Physicians, 2015) Spinal immobilisation is considered for utilization for two specific patient groups: (1) unconscious injury victims and (2) any patient with a motion injury. These two specific groups lead to the perception that these patients have a possible spinal injury and immobilisation is required. (M.J.Sanders, 2010) Applying clear, clinical guidelines for evaluating a possible spinal injury in a patient can support the accuracy of pre hospital assessment. Henry Ziegler 10044371 Prof. Frank Lewis ECON 231 Thursday, November 20, 2014 Analysis on the Standard of Living in the Industrial Revolution Debate Before the Industrial Revolution, Great Britain s economy relied heavily on agriculture, which at that point of time was based a flawed system dating back to the Middle Ages. This system, known as the open field system, showed agricultural inefficiencies, and was disallowing of innovation. These inefficiencies eventually led to the privatization of land for agriculture, in an effort to solve what is now commonly referred to as the tragedy of the commons . Great Britain was now moving forward, and as the country (and continent) began enclosing their land, Britain began a period of modernization, with new technologies that would increase productivity in industry to a level never before seen. This is the period commonly referred to as the Industrial Revolution, and was an era of unprecedented growth in industry from the middle of the 18th century until around the middle of the 19th century. In 1760, 53% of the British population worked in agriculture. By 1840, that had dropped to 29%. The evolution from water and wind power to steam engines, as well as the creation of many pieces of machinery for the textile industry (such as the Spinning Jenny, which reduced the production time on yarn) vastly improved British manufacturing of goods, and the reliance on agriculture continued to drop. Before the class lecture, I didn t know how big our opportunity gap ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
