Chicano Film Analysis
Chicano Films for Future Chicanos Chicano film is a special and important genre of film that
has become an outlet for Chicanos in order for their voices to be heard and stories to be seen by
all. After watching a number of Chicano films this semester, I have gained a deeper understanding
of Chicano history and have even been able to relate to many of the stories, conflicts, struggles, and
pride shared through these films. I feel as though Chicanofilm has progressed quite a bit since the
beginning of Chicano cinema in 1954 when Salt of the Earth was released, and many modern
films have allowed different perspectives to be seen regarding Chicano and overall Latino culture.
If I had to choose two major films to pass onto future generations of... Show more content on

The students both in Walkout and Stand and Deliver experience some sort of discrimination
brought on by administrators at their own schools. In Walkout, Paula and her classmates face
apathy from school officials after asking for reform in their school system, due to the fact that
they attend an East Los Angeles public school filled with mainly low income Chicano students.
In a particularly powerful scene, the filmmaker showcases this apathy in a high angle shot, when
the school board dismisses a call for action by Paula, her classmates, and Sal Castro after they
show up to a meeting. In Stand and Deliver, we see the same event happen in a scene when Jaime
Escalante proposes teaching calculus to his students during a board meeting. The filmmaker uses
reaction shots and close up shots to show the other school teachers and administrators disapproval
over the idea, stating that they do not believe the Latino students in the school can rise up to the
challenge. I believe that this is very influential, especially with Chicano students, as discrimination
in film can serve as a teaching lesson to be more empathetic and open minded to others who are
different in some

What Is A Restaurant Planning
Production Needs Milestone 2 The part of opening a new restaurant location is choosing the
location so that the plans can be drawn up. I decided that using an existing building is the best
option for both price and time. By utilizing an existing building, the permits will be cheaper since
most tenant improvements don t require permits. If the location previously was a restaurant, then
the kitchen will already have gas ran into it. With the location decided we can bring in the architect
to draw up the building plans and get them submitted for permits. This should take 1 to 6 months
depending on how busy the architect and permitting office is. Once you have the building permits
the contractor can begin construction. According to Aaron Allen... Show more content on

Lean Management
In the production of a restaurant the first lean management principal of finding what creates value
for the customer (Russell Taylor, 2016), can be applied during the concept of the restaurant. By
determining what is valuable you can plan around it. If you determine that the guests come to the
restaurant for the quality of food and great service, then we can develop a menu that meets or
exceeds expectations. The sequence of activities would be the chefs in the kitchen preparing the
food for the guests to enjoy while the server tends to the guest s immediate needs such as taking
their drink order and filling it for them. The server might also be asked for suggestions of wines
to pair with the meal they just ordered. The third is the process of identifying waste in the value
stream and removing it. In the construction of the building the designer will need to look at the
flow of traffic and see if there is anything that can be done to reduce wasteful tasks (Russell
Taylor, 2016). This includes considering how many steps it takes to get something out of the
fridge or how far the chef needs to go to get a mixing bowl or tools. The cooks and servers must
also pay attention to these as well to minimize waste. The designer should also pay attention to
green technology available to them in the design phase. This is

Ricky Rubio Research Paper

Being the first person drafted in the 1990s in the 2009 NBA Draft Ricky Rubio went from
enigma to one of the league best passers. In ____ seasons, he s averaged ________. During his
time with the Wolves his teams have never sniffed the playoffs, and for the most part the
Timberwolves remained a team marked with a lot of change instead of building a team built
consistency. At only ____ years old Rubio is Minnesota most tenured player. He s the point guard
of the team and, is viewed as the quarterback, the leader, an extension of the coach while the team
is on the floor.

During some points, this season the Timberwolves were in games until the end. Let s chalk it up to
inexperience. How tough is it to play for such a young team?
We have to bring it every night. It seems like we er playing in the second half we re just giving
up leads. We just have to figure out how to play more aggressive with the will to win.
A lot of times I noticed some of the young players rushed their shots at crucial points of the game.
As one of the teams most tenured players are there anything you can do to kind of settle the young
players down?
Sometimes when we see when we re down by five or so we ll take a quick three, instead of a
two. We have to keep pushing, and control the tempo of the game. It s easy to talk about it now. It
hard to do it when you re out there on the court but that s when veterans come in.
Once some of the young guys get a few years in the league under their belt. I think they won t
make some errors that they make now. It s part of growing up. Do you think once they get older
they ll start to slow down?
I mean with experience you learn how to play close games, but like I said you need the will to win,
and play more

Director s Duty of Care
Major Assignment: Directors Duties Case
Part A: Whether the directors are in breach of their duties of care, skill and diligence
Issue1: who owes the duty?
According to S 9, the person who is appointed to be a director or the person who is appointed to
be an alternate director and is acting in that capacity, is a director of the company. (S9)
As we can see from the case, Peter Pansy, Fred Fuchsia and Marie Gold are directors of the
company, and Alison Astor who is appointed to fill a casual vacancy on the Board is also a
director; therefore, they all owe duties. As the executive directors appointed a skilled person to
manage the Australian wide floral delivery service on the internet, the pointed person is also a

(ASIC v Rich (No 2) (2003) 21 ACLC 672)
Alison Astor was appointed to fill a casual vacancy on the Board, but he did not attend board
meetings. As one of the minimum standards of care, skill, diligence proposed by the NSW court
of Appeal stated, the directors need to contribute a certain time and effort to the company and
attend board meetings regularly. As we can see from this case, Alison Astor did not exercise the
required degree of diligence by failing to attend board meetings, so he had breached his duty of care.
Part 2: Whether the directors are in breach of their duty to avoid insolvent trading.
ISSUE #1 Who owns the duties?
Directors including de facto directors and shadow directors are the only persons who have the duty
to prevent insolvent trading. (textbook219) According to Section 588G, the director of the company
that incurs a debt and is insolvent or becomes insolvent by the debt should have reasonable grounds
for suspecting that the company is insolvent or becomes insolvent.( 588G)
As mentioned in the Part A, all of the directors mentioned above own the duties.
ISSUE #2 To whom
In this case, the directors are owed duties to the company as a whole and also creditors.
ISSUE #3 What are the duties? * When does a company incur a debt? Beside the deemed debts,
there are other types of debt that are related to S588G. (text) A specific amount and incurring

Descriptive Writing Snow
The first snowfall of the year had finally arrived one late November night, blanketing the small
cabin and surrounding forest with fresh, powdery snow. The wind howled through the leafless trees,
often relieving the weighed down branches of their snowy burden. The smooth and unblemished
snow coated everything, leaving the road to the cabin indistinguishable from the surrounding terrain.
I lazily stared out a large pane window until my gaze locked on a truck, slowly removing the snow
on the winding road with its bright yellow plow. I jumped up from the warm couch, running across
the dark, hardwood floors of the living room and onto the gray tiles of the kitchen.
My mother stood at the wood paneled island in the kitchen, her dark hair pulled

John Barrymore Personality Disorder
John Barrymore once said, You can t drown yourself in a drink. I ve tried; you float. Quotes like
these and many others from John Barrymore embody him for all that he was. As John Barrymore
got older, his mind and health started to decline due to his addiction to alcohol and his constant
need to be married to someone. John Sidney Blythe Barrymore was born on February 15 in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1882. He was born to Maurice Barrymore, who was an alcoholic and
contracted syphilis from an unknown source, and Georgiana Drew Barrymore, who contracted
tuberculosis and died when Barrymore was only eleven. Barrymore attended Georgetown

One of the reasons he continued drinking was because he developed depression since alcohol is
considered a depressant drug, which caused him to drink even more to help relieve the
depression. Another problem he developed was erratic and bizarre behavior, which he had
worried about earlier in his life because his father also went slowly insane. Barrymore s worry
was most likely caused by the anxiety that he felt from the early stages of his alcoholism, which
was caused by his system trying to overcome the stress of the alcohol s buzz . Another thing that
could have contributed to Barrymore s bizarre and erratic behavior was the alcohol s effect on the
serotonin levels in his brain, which regulates mood in the brain. Barrymore s random and
sometimes depressing behavior can be completely blamed on his alcoholism that started from an

The Process Of Deduction Logic
In social research, traditional and non traditional methods are used to explore and examine research
queries and relate methods of data collection and observation. One conventionally accepted method
is through deductive logic. Deductive logic is research that begins with a theory and arrives at a
specific expectation through a series of scientific steps. Both explanatory and exploratory
techniques can be used in deductive. In contrast, inductive methods, in which researchers examine
specific data sets and detect general patterns, are considered non traditional. In inductive logic, the
identification of empirical patterns result in a generalization about some social process (Schutt,
2012, p. 45).
The process of deduction logic begins with statements, also known as premises , that are assumed to
be true. A determination is made regarding additional factors that must be true if the premises are
true. A special logical structure, known as modus ponens, is a rule asserting that a hypothetical
proposition according to which if the antecedent be affirmed, the consequent is affirmed (Merriam
Webster, 2015). The form of any argument having the structure of modus ponens is as follows:
Given P, if P then Q, so, Q. Using this structure, any argument is stated as the major premise, the
minor premise, and the conclusion. In this way, the statements are evaluated in terms of validity
and soundness.
The strength of deductive reasoning is its consideration of validity and

March 14th, 2013 Education, a most powerful tool of use in today s world and one that we
probably take for granted, could possible be at risk as far as how knowledgeable we are becoming
on the material at hand. A mind is a terrible thing to waste, and because of agonism in academics,
students now might not be getting the full potential out of their mind simply because of the way
they/we are being taught. Deborah Tannen, a professor at Georgetown University, in the article

Although very logical, this whole hearted sentimental quote is meant to appeal emotionally to
readers by giving the feeling that we need to save our academic humanity, and not let it go to
waste. In essence, Tannen is promoting cooperative discussion, where students and educators can
build off each others ideas, and form new perspectives. So what should, or could, be the immediate
solution to this issue? While discussing agonistic ideology, Tannen states, Our agonist ideology
seems so deeply embedded in academe that one might wonder what alternatives we have (219).
Tannen may be saying here that there are no immediate solutions at this point in time, most likely
because we have been engaging in this agonistic learning style for quite some time. On the other
hand, Tannen goes on to state later in the article, while discussing another reading group
experience, Refocusing our attention. . .is the greatest gain in store if we can move beyond
critique in it s narrow sense (220). Now the solution is blunt, we as students and educators need to
step back from critique and step forward to open discussion. Tannen does an excellent job in
explaining and exemplifying throughout her article how agonism has a negative affect

Ethical Issues Present in the Distilled Spirits Industry
Introduction Accounting for over $120 billion of economic activity in 2010, the distilled spirits
industry is a prominent piece of the beverage industry as a whole. The alcohol industry is
growing rapidly in foreign markets, especially in countries such as China and Brazil. In the
United States alone, this industry generates over 3.9 million jobs and contributed about $8.8
billion directly to state and local revenues (The Industry s Role section, para. 1). Team TOTs will
discuss the ethical issues that are prevalent in the distilled spirits industry, pressures facing the
industry as well as investment policy recommendations that VTF should follow. Ethical Issues
The challenges the distilled spirits industry face fall under two main categories, health and
advertising. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Addiction, the use of
alcohol is the third leading preventable cause of death in the US (2014). The Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention states that heavy alcohol abuse can lead to a number of health issues,
including cardiovascular, neurological, psychiatric, and social problems, as well as cancer, liver
disease, and sometimes death (2014). In addition to the consequences to consumers health and
wellbeing, the industry must also manage the challenge of responsible marketing. Underage
drinking is a serious, prominent issue in the US. Out of the 80,000 people who die each year from
alcohol related causes, 5,000 minors die from as a result of

SMART Port Security
The SMART Port Security is a legislation that created new layers of security in U.S. ports in a cost
effective manner. The legislation emphasizes the need of creating strong partnership among federal,
state, and local governments as well as with private and international organizations (Homeland
security committee, 2012). The goal is to ensure that securityefforts at all levels are effectively
coordinated and integrated so that there can be more layers of security without having to invest
additional resources. This is accomplished by identifying redundancies or repetitive security
measures that are useless, which will allow port authorities to convert them into more useful
security layers (Homeland security committee, 2012). Moreover, the legislation also encourages the
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to speed up the process of installing biometric readers to
make the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program worth it and not just a

Embracing Dream And Identity Of Hong Kong
Embracing Dream and Identity
In the 90s of the century, many important events happened between China and Hong Kong. Without
questioning, one of the most influential incidents happened during this period of time was Hong
Kong s reunion with China in July 1997; it transformed Hong Kong from a colonial dependent
territory to a Chinese administration region. The local Hong Kong people felt disoriented of their
futures and many of them came to the question of their national identities; it is because the different
political and educational system between Hong Kong and China makes the local Hong Kong
people feel differentiated from the mainland Chinese people. Since Hong Kong and China has

Many themes are depicted in these movies, and yet, the topic which has been most discussed is
the exploration of identity. I will discuss in the following of my paper on three Hong Kong
movies I pick, Full Moon in New York (Dir. Stanley Kwan, 1989), Her Fatal Ways (Dir. Alfred
Cheung, 1990), and Comrades, Almost a Lover Story (Dir. Peter Chan, 1997) as reference to

who gains her legal status in U.S. after married to an American citizen, Thomas. Although her
husband and she are able to make a decent living in Manhattan, however, she is barely coping with
strange Western ways. The other two actresses in the leading role are Sylvia Chang and Maggie
Cheung. Sylvia plays as an aspiring actress and Maggie Cheung plays an ambitious successful
business woman. These three women meet at a diner, which Maggie owns, and their friendship
forges on since then. One of the most important themes has been portrayed in this movie is the
cultural conflicts between the Western and Eastern culture. Such differences are well represented in
the relationship of Zhao Hong and her husband. No

Free Will In Sophocles Antigone
Antigone by Sophocles follows an adamant, strong willed woman attempting to defend her ideal
towards death by providing her brother and a traitor to the state, Polynices, a proper burial against
the positive law asserted by the King. In the play, Ismene, Antigone s sister, best exemplifies the
suffering engendered by authoritarian repression and over dependency on the role of fate versus
the role of free will. The ramifications pertaining to the characters subdued and powerless
individuality presents a modern day parallel to the compulsion Syrian civilians are facing under the
tyrannical rule of Bashar al Assad.

The quotation, I m forced, I have no choice I must obey the ones who stand in power [Ismene,
78] is applicable to a modern day context upon considering the political scenario and civil unrest
in Syria. Bashar al Assad, the Syrian President, is the equivalent to Sophocles Creon in the sense
that they share ultimate power and authority over their people. The prideful exercising of
available dominance over civilians forms another bridge between al Assad and Creon, which
enables us to create parallels between those facing and accepting the repression. Al Assad s
regime has been in power for the last three election terms. The reason for this is not his political
competency but rather his dictating presence which has terrorized a majority of innocent citizens.
Fifteen children in the southern Syrian city of Daraa had their nails removed by torture as they
scribbled anti Assad words on their school walls. His regime has continued to kill hundreds of
protestors who stood up for the students and has left many more scarred with fear and threat.

How Does The United States Violate Human Rights

Influence of the Roman Theater on Cicero’s Oration Pro...
Influence of the Roman Theater on Cicero s Oration Pro Caelia By
Cicero s oration in defense of M. Caelius Rufus shows many substantive and stylistic borrowings
from the Roman Theater, particularly the comedies of the 2nd century b.c.e. This would scarcely
seem remarkable to Cicero, to employ such devices is only to make use of the tools of his trade,
as a practical and practicing rhetorician. In this case using the theater as a framing device to guide
his audience s response.

Cicero, by example of his own life takes a broad inclusive approach to Oratory. In a earlier
statement we encounter words which probably reflect his own view closely: But the fact of the
matter is that oratory is a much more considerable activity and depends on a far wider range of
different arts and branches of study, than people imagine (Cicero, Orator I 4,16).Particularly
Cicero seems interested in holding on to the orator s special sphere the third branch of Philosophy
life and behavior of human beings which is to say, human nature (Cicero, Orator I 15, 69).
We hear of the orator s special strength to rouse men s hearts to anger, hatred, and indignation
(Cicero, Orator I 12,53), a not dissimilar goal to that of the dramatist. We find that a speaker s job
is to ensure that the feelings of his audience are affected just the way he wants them to be (19,
87). His Five Tasks of the orator (and to keep within the dignity of the theme) (Cicero, Orator I
38, 142 44) given in a following paragraph, are suitable instructions for any playwright or actor.
Even at the beginning of On the Orator Cicero has one of his characters observe approvingly of
the benefits to be gained from the less serious art on regulation of expression, voice and movement
of body. Cicero has his character Antonius make an observation that the chief distinction between
an actor speaking and an orator is that the actor has more leeway. He is excused if he has

Trinity Theory
The Trinity
The Trinity is the foundation in which Christianity is laid upon. Each of the three figures are
crucial to understanding the religion. Without understanding one of these, a person cannot fully
grasp Christianity. The Trinity is a theory that attempts to explain exactly what is Jesus to God and
God to the Holy Spirit. Having said that, it begs the question, what is the explanation given by the
Trinity?
The Trinity is a representation of the holy or godly figures in Christianity; The Father , Jesus The
Son , and the Holy Spirit. (Christian Beliefs PowerPoint). Specifically, it states that The Father ,
Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all God (Bart Ehrman on the Origins of the Trinity). Bart states in his
YouTube video, Bart Ehrman on the Origins of the Trinity, that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are
all equal in power because they are all embodiments of God himself but, he reiterates that, there is
still only one God. This conundrum basically equates to a theorem stating that 1=1 and at the same
time, 1=3. After coming to that conclusion, Bart Ehrman offers a ground for solace, stating The
Trinity is a mystery, a person cannot understand it, that is why it is a mystery. (Bart Ehrman on the
Origins of the Trinity)
This contradicts the statements in the beginning of the essay, saying a person must understand the
Trinity in order to grasp Christianity. Although, a person cannot understand how the Trinity is
possible, they can understand the whole

Citizenship of Organization, Nation and Planet Rights and Responsibilities
It has been rightly said by someone The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. Eternal vigilance for
the citizen must take many forms. There are many varied definitions for Citizen, but in this context
it can be said that Citizen is the person who represents the country legally and Citizenship
describes the status of belonging somewhere and it implies both rights and responsibilities

They show a positive relationship between proactive Corporate Citizenship and Employee s
Commitment.
Organizational citizenship is a concept that all companies wish to have but very few can actually
achieve. It is rooted in individual employees view of the company and how they associate
themselves with it.
Some of the examples of Organizational Citizenship are as follows:
Assisting coworkers: An employee can take time from their work to help another to get their job
done, as they know it s important to the company and to the other employee. We have all
potentially had situations where others pitched in to get a job done that had nothing to do with
their specific job, outside of wanting to help the company and a fellow worker.
Working for the future: So many employees look at what they are going to get right now and do
not look far into the future. Those who practice organizational citizenship believe there will be
rewards down the road and do not focus on the short term; rather, they focus on the long term. This
viewpoint also makes them long term employees, which are desirable to any company.
Being a company representative: When some employees leave for the day, the company they
represent stays behind them in the office. An organizational citizen represents their company 24/7
and has no problem talking to others about how their company might help them.
Thus, it can be said that organizational citizenship is the

Psychology Of The Movie Psycho
The movie Psycho was directed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1960. When Psycho was first released
they implemented a rule that no one could come into the movie late, and I guess that was a thing
that happened a lot back then. People were just like I got a few minutes, let me go into this movie,
I don t care if it started. But they were having none of that with Psycho. Once the movie started the
doors were closed, no one was allowed in. In the previews they asked the audienceto not divulge
any of the secrets of the movie to their friends or family after they see it. And audiences obeyed,
they didn t go out and blabber about it like people do these days. You could not get away with
that today, but audiences were cool back then. Because they didn t let the audience in after the
movie started, they didn t allow critics to watch the movie ahead of time either. The critics had
to go with the audiences on opening day to see the movie. They were not happy about that
because they were being treated like peasants, like any other viewer. I guess they thought they
were better than everybody else, as some critics actually gave them bad reviews basically because
they didn t get a special screening. Even before audiences watched the movie, their psychological
needs start to be met as hype and suspense is built with the secrets people need to keep. The
suspense is kept up throughout the movie from Marion s get away and death, to the twist at the end.

The Warming Of The Climate System
Q 1. How do we Know climate system is warming?
Warming of the climate system is unequivocal. Since 1950 s many of the observed changes are
unprecedented over decades to millennia. The atmosphere and ocean have warmed, the amounts of
snow and ice have diminished, and sea level has risen. Additionally most of these climate changes
are due to very small variations in Earth s orbit that change the amount of solar energy our planet
receives. Earth orbiting satellites and other technological advances have enabled scientists to see
the big picture, collecting many different types of information about our planet and its climate on
a global scale. This body of data, collected over many years, reveals the signals of a changing
climate. The signal of climate change include rise of sea level, surface temperature rise ,glacier
retreats, shrinking ice sheets, warming of ocean ,declining artic sea ice ,increase in Antarctic sea
ice ,increase in extreme events ,decrease in the amount of snow of snow and ice ,increase in
concentration of CHGS.Each indicator described below has been extensively studied over the past
several decades, and was captured from many different data sets and technologies.

Photo Observation
I think this photo is a good representation of space because the small hill in the bottom middle
leads your eye back and everything gets smaller towards the back. I dropped the horizon because
I liked how the skies take up almost half of the top because it shows movement and distance from
one side of the photo to the next. Originally, the photo was very dark so I increased the brightness
and contrast at different levels for the skyand the trees/houses respectively. I added a sepia photo
filter to give a warm effect, and dodged and burned the parts that were hit by the lightand shadowed
by it.

I wanted to make the blue gradient in the sky more noticeable so I fixed the hue and saturation of
the sky. I also dodged and burned the skies to make them stand out more. I added an orange photo
filter near where the sunlight diffused around the tree.
This picture best represents rule of thirds because the leaves are not in the middle of the picture,
but rather in the bottom right corner. I like how the leaves frame the sky on the bottom without
covering too much of it. I made the blue in the sky more contrasted and brighter. I also made the
leaves redder and with a paintbrush went over some parts with red to make them a bit brighter.
For this photograph, I had my mom stand under the tree because I really liked how the leaves
contrasted against her and the trees and house in the background. I made her skin softer and
added a layer mask to the leaves and her eyes so they stood out more clearly. I really liked how
the couple leaves in the front were so clear and I liked how the light hit them so I did not change
anything about them. Her pose in this photo gave off a very relaxed vibe. You can tell that she is

Why Do Dogs That Look Like A Mop
Wait. What? Mop? Yes, you read it right. A mop. There are dog breeds that naturally looks like a
mop, and there are those that are groomed to have corded coats too. These corded coats, whether
naturally or man made, makes our adorable pet dogs even cuter (that is if you find mops cute)!
7 dogs that look like a mop
1.Puli. Puli is famous for its long corded coat. It is a small to medium sized breed that is
primarily used for herding and guarding livestock in Hungary. The puli is usually colored black
though other coats such as white, cream, or gray also exist. It is an intelligent dog that requires

Corded poodle. You might be surprised why poodle is included on this list because it certainly
does not look like a mop, and never will be. Well, you are obviously in for some common
misconception as poodle are always portrayed as covered with hair or properly trimmed and cut.
However, one of the cutest coat design that poodles can have is corded coat. Once its coat is
corded, it will closely resemble that of a mop. Regardless of the look though, you can still be sure
that a poodle s temperament is like any other poodles which is playful and very affectionate to its
family.
7.Corded havanese. A havanese will look like a mop if its long and silky hair will be corded. A
havanese is cuddly and will very much follow you wherever you go, thus earning him the
nickname, Velcro dog. It is not only a lapdog because it has many skills and attributes that may
surprise you. It is trainable which makes it an excellent dog to compete in dog sports as well as do
other canine jobs such as assisting the handicapped and being a performer in circus. On top of it
all, a havanese makes a good perfect family

The Difference Between Service Learning, Volunteerism And...
Many people get the terms service learning, volunteerism and community service mixed together.
All three were made to make a difference somewhere or in someone s life. The main difference
between these services are the primary intentions of the programs. Service learning primary purpose
is to learn from the experience and to improve their skills. By doing so, they are helping those in
need. Volunteering and communityservice have the most in common, except the fact that
community service can be done without a voluntary basis. Those services are done without the
purpose of learning something from it, even though they can have a learning experience. Even
though most are volunteers doing the job, many can be paid to volunteer, mainly by their job that
persuades their employees to do so.
Houston Food Bank is a private non profit organization. They were established in 1982 and are a
certified member of Feeding America. Their focus is to help end hunger by distributing the most
meals possible to those in need. They can provide 83,000,000 meals a year, which they are trying
to improve in. Most of the meals they pack up are sent to pantries and other organizations that need
food for individuals and families. Usually, food banks do not distribute their meals, but Houston
Food Bank does. With the help of volunteers, they can sort, pack and distribute food. Most of the
food given to them are provided from donors, local companies around the city, and USDA. The
food given to them would go to waste without their help and the volunteers who make the meals
happen. I attended the Houston Food Bank, and while I was there, I could tell they have strong
teamwork within the organization. All the employees knew what to do and how to handle that
many volunteers. They all communicated with the volunteers with a professional, friendly way.
They could get everyone who came in to sign in and get everything set up to start the day. I was
not able to tell one thing that went wrong. It was impressive how neatly and organized they had the
building. The atmosphere, at least for me, made me feel involved and wanting to come back.
Once everything was ready to start, there were groups made and taken to the designated area where

Athens And Spart Ancient Greece

Athens and Sparta, two rivals of ancient Greece that made the most noise and gave us the most
traditions. Though they were close together on a map, they were far apart in what they valued and
also how they lived their lives. Spartan and Athenian society were very different in many parts.
The differences are what set these two apart, and the things they shared in common are what unified
them as Greek city states. Sparta and Athens shared similarities and differences in their systems of
government, military, judgment and views of their women. In addition to this, the social gatherings
of Athenians and Spartans that were also similar and different.
Both Athens and Sparta had an Assembly, the members were elected by the people. Sparta who
was ruled by two kings, the Agiads and Eurypontids, these two kings who mainly served as

influences. They ruled until they died or were forced out of office.
Athens was ruled by archons, who were elected annually, severed originally for life, then they
served for ten years and eventually only served for just one year. Upon leaving office, they became
members of the council of the Areopgaus. Thus, because both parts of Athens government had

Quality motorcycle jackets tend to go for a couple of hundred dollars and it is extremely rare to

This essay is aimed to critically appraise the article about comparing the effect of glucosamine and
glucosamine with alendronate in symptomatic relieve of degenerative knee joint disease (Hamid
Reza Arti Mohammad Ebrahim Azemi, 2012, p. 87 92). The study talked about the Degenerative
Joint Disease (DJD) or osteoarthritis, which is the most common destructive jointdisease and causes
of chronic disability in human beings. Osteoarthritis is often caused by aging, frequent use of knee
joints or obesity. People with osteoarthritis are normally treated by glucosamine. On the other hand,
alendronate is used to treat osteoporosis. People with osteoporosis will have brittle or fragile bones
due to deficiency in calcium or vitamin D. As both osteoarthritis and osteoporosis have higher
chances of being found in elderly patients, it might not be an unusual thing for them to exist
together in the patient at the same time. Combining glucosamine and alendronate together in the
treatment may bring out unexpected therapeutic benefits. The objective of the study is to find out
the differences between the effects of glucosamine alone and combination between glucosamine
and alendronate administration in relieving knee degeneration. The study hypothesised that
combination of glucosamine and alendronate will be more effective in treating knee degeneration.
To test the efficacy of glucosamine, a double blind randomised controlled trial (RCT) was set up. A

Because Colorado is so far inland, this effect will be stronger because large bodies of water help

climate of Albuquerque as far north as Greeley. Additionally, we must consider the agriculture
industry is estimated to be worth around forty one billion dollars in Colorado, which means climate
change will have a drastic impact on food production. Colorado s geographic location is
problematic in itself, but the continuous temperature changes means longer growing seasons.
Ultimately, the rising temperatures make plants consume more water and it reduces the annual

Benefits Of Temporary Visa Programs
Over the past few decades, the American workforce has been on the decline. As many of the
previous generations start to retire and leave the workforce so does their skills, something
American companies are having problems replacing. Up till the 1970 s the American workforce
saw the number of unskilled workers decline with the number of skilled workers increasing. In
the 1970 s however, this trend stagnated and has held constant. With individuals aged 55 59
years getting ready to retire the American workforce is about to lose a large portion of its skilled
workers. This puts American companies in a very precarious position, how do these companies
replace these workers? Some companies are moving their operations to places where the number
of skilled workers is steadily increasing. Most companies, however, take advantage of temporary
visa programs like H 1B. This visa program allows these companies to bring in skilled workers as
non immigrants to work in the United Statesfor three years, up to six with a renewal. Currently, the
H 1B program allows for 65,000 foreign workers with an additional 20,000 visas set aside for
individuals pursuing doctorate degrees. Additionally, universities are allowed an unlimited number
of visas for individuals pursuing bachelor s degrees. In order to apply for this visa, a foreign worker
must have already been offered a position and actually it is their employer who applies for the visa.
Due to the number of applicants in recent years the State

  • 2. Chicano Film Analysis Chicano Films for Future Chicanos Chicano film is a special and important genre of film that has become an outlet for Chicanos in order for their voices to be heard and stories to be seen by all. After watching a number of Chicano films this semester, I have gained a deeper understanding of Chicano history and have even been able to relate to many of the stories, conflicts, struggles, and pride shared through these films. I feel as though Chicanofilm has progressed quite a bit since the beginning of Chicano cinema in 1954 when Salt of the Earth was released, and many modern films have allowed different perspectives to be seen regarding Chicano and overall Latino culture. If I had to choose two major films to pass onto future generations of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The students both in Walkout and Stand and Deliver experience some sort of discrimination brought on by administrators at their own schools. In Walkout, Paula and her classmates face apathy from school officials after asking for reform in their school system, due to the fact that they attend an East Los Angeles public school filled with mainly low income Chicano students. In a particularly powerful scene, the filmmaker showcases this apathy in a high angle shot, when the school board dismisses a call for action by Paula, her classmates, and Sal Castro after they show up to a meeting. In Stand and Deliver, we see the same event happen in a scene when Jaime Escalante proposes teaching calculus to his students during a board meeting. The filmmaker uses reaction shots and close up shots to show the other school teachers and administrators disapproval over the idea, stating that they do not believe the Latino students in the school can rise up to the challenge. I believe that this is very influential, especially with Chicano students, as discrimination in film can serve as a teaching lesson to be more empathetic and open minded to others who are different in some ... I decided that using an existing building is the best option for both price and time. By utilizing an existing building, the permits will be cheaper since most tenant improvements don t require permits. If the location previously was a restaurant, then the kitchen will already have gas ran into it. With the location decided we can bring in the architect to draw up the building plans and get them submitted for permits. This should take 1 to 6 months depending on how busy the architect and permitting office is. Once you have the building permits the contractor can begin construction. According to Aaron Allen... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Keller, 2017) Lean Management In the production of a restaurant the first lean management principal of finding what creates value for the customer (Russell Taylor, 2016), can be applied during the concept of the restaurant. By determining what is valuable you can plan around it. If you determine that the guests come to the restaurant for the quality of food and great service, then we can develop a menu that meets or exceeds expectations. The sequence of activities would be the chefs in the kitchen preparing the food for the guests to enjoy while the server tends to the guest s immediate needs such as taking their drink order and filling it for them. The server might also be asked for suggestions of wines to pair with the meal they just ordered. The third is the process of identifying waste in the value stream and removing it. In the construction of the building the designer will need to look at the flow of traffic and see if there is anything that can be done to reduce wasteful tasks (Russell Taylor, 2016). This includes considering how many steps it takes to get something out of the fridge or how far the chef needs to go to get a mixing bowl or tools. The cooks and servers must also pay attention to these as well to minimize waste. The designer should also pay attention to green technology available to them in the design phase. This is ... In ____ seasons, he s averaged ________. During his time with the Wolves his teams have never sniffed the playoffs, and for the most part the Timberwolves remained a team marked with a lot of change instead of building a team built consistency. At only ____ years old Rubio is Minnesota most tenured player. He s the point guard of the team and, is viewed as the quarterback, the leader, an extension of the coach while the team is on the floor. He s a wizard with basketball. It s amazing how he finds us. Let s chalk it up to inexperience. How tough is it to play for such a young team? We have to bring it every night. It seems like we er playing in the second half we re just giving up leads. We just have to figure out how to play more aggressive with the will to win. A lot of times I noticed some of the young players rushed their shots at crucial points of the game. As one of the teams most tenured players are there anything you can do to kind of settle the young players down? It hard to do it when you re out there on the court but that s when veterans come in. Once some of the young guys get a few years in the league under their belt. The wind howled through the leafless trees, often relieving the weighed down branches of their snowy burden. I lazily stared out a large pane window until my gaze locked on a truck, slowly removing the snow on the winding road with its bright yellow plow. Barrymore s worry was most likely caused by the anxiety that he felt from the early stages of his alcoholism, which was caused by his system trying to overcome the stress of the alcohol s buzz . • 8. The Process Of Deduction Logic In social research, traditional and non traditional methods are used to explore and examine research queries and relate methods of data collection and observation. One conventionally accepted method is through deductive logic. Deductive logic is research that begins with a theory and arrives at a specific expectation through a series of scientific steps. Both explanatory and exploratory techniques can be used in deductive. In contrast, inductive methods, in which researchers examine specific data sets and detect general patterns, are considered non traditional. In inductive logic, the identification of empirical patterns result in a generalization about some social process (Schutt, 2012, p. 45). The process of deduction logic begins with statements, also known as premises , that are assumed to be true. A determination is made regarding additional factors that must be true if the premises are true. A special logical structure, known as modus ponens, is a rule asserting that a hypothetical proposition according to which if the antecedent be affirmed, the consequent is affirmed (Merriam Webster, 2015). The form of any argument having the structure of modus ponens is as follows: Given P, if P then Q, so, Q. Using this structure, any argument is stated as the major premise, the minor premise, and the conclusion. In this way, the statements are evaluated in terms of validity and soundness. Without understanding one of these, a person cannot fully grasp Christianity. The Trinity is a theory that attempts to explain exactly what is Jesus to God and God to the Holy Spirit. Having said that, it begs the question, what is the explanation given by the Trinity? The Trinity is a representation of the holy or godly figures in Christianity; The Father , Jesus The Son , and the Holy Spirit. (Christian Beliefs PowerPoint). Because they didn t let the audience in after the movie started, they didn t allow critics to watch the movie ahead of time either. The critics had to go with the audiences on opening day to see the movie. They were not happy about that because they were being treated like peasants, like any other viewer. I guess they thought they were better than everybody else, as some critics actually gave them bad reviews basically because they didn t get a special screening. • 26. The Warming Of The Climate System Q 1. How do we Know climate system is warming? Warming of the climate system is unequivocal. Since 1950 s many of the observed changes are unprecedented over decades to millennia. The atmosphere and ocean have warmed, the amounts of snow and ice have diminished, and sea level has risen. Additionally most of these climate changes are due to very small variations in Earth s orbit that change the amount of solar energy our planet receives. Earth orbiting satellites and other technological advances have enabled scientists to see the big picture, collecting many different types of information about our planet and its climate on a global scale. This body of data, collected over many years, reveals the signals of a changing climate. I dropped the horizon because I liked how the skies take up almost half of the top because it shows movement and distance from one side of the photo to the next. Originally, the photo was very dark so I increased the brightness and contrast at different levels for the skyand the trees/houses respectively. I added a sepia photo filter to give a warm effect, and dodged and burned the parts that were hit by the lightand shadowed by it. I wanted to make the blue gradient in the sky more noticeable so I fixed the hue and saturation of the sky. I also dodged and burned the skies to make them stand out more. I added an orange photo filter near where the sunlight diffused around the tree. This picture best represents rule of thirds because the leaves are not in the middle of the picture, but rather in the bottom right corner. I like how the leaves frame the sky on the bottom without covering too much of it. I made the blue in the sky more contrasted and brighter. I also made the leaves redder and with a paintbrush went over some parts with red to make them a bit brighter. For this photograph, I had my mom stand under the tree because I really liked how the leaves contrasted against her and the trees and house in the background. I made her skin softer and added a layer mask to the leaves and her eyes so they stood out more clearly. I really liked how the couple leaves in the front were so clear and I liked how the light hit them so I did not change anything about them. Her pose in this photo gave off a very relaxed vibe. • 30. The Difference Between Service Learning, Volunteerism And... Many people get the terms service learning, volunteerism and community service mixed together. All three were made to make a difference somewhere or in someone s life. The main difference between these services are the primary intentions of the programs. Service learning primary purpose is to learn from the experience and to improve their skills. By doing so, they are helping those in need. Volunteering and communityservice have the most in common, except the fact that community service can be done without a voluntary basis. Those services are done without the purpose of learning something from it, even though they can have a learning experience. Even though most are volunteers doing the job, many can be paid to volunteer, mainly by their job that persuades their employees to do so. Houston Food Bank is a private non profit organization. They were established in 1982 and are a certified member of Feeding America. Their focus is to help end hunger by distributing the most meals possible to those in need. They can provide 83,000,000 meals a year, which they are trying to improve in. Most of the meals they pack up are sent to pantries and other organizations that need food for individuals and families. Usually, food banks do not distribute their meals, but Houston Food Bank does. With the help of volunteers, they can sort, pack and distribute food. Most of the food given to them are provided from donors, local companies around the city, and USDA. The food given to them would go to waste without their help and the volunteers who make the meals happen. I attended the Houston Food Bank, and while I was there, I could tell they have strong teamwork within the organization. All the employees knew what to do and how to handle that many volunteers. They all communicated with the volunteers with a professional, friendly way. They could get everyone who came in to sign in and get everything set up to start the day. I was not able to tell one thing that went wrong. It was impressive how neatly and organized they had the building. The atmosphere, at least for me, made me feel involved and wanting to come back. The study talked about the Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD) or osteoarthritis, which is the most common destructive jointdisease and causes of chronic disability in human beings. Osteoarthritis is often caused by aging, frequent use of knee joints or obesity. People with osteoarthritis are normally treated by glucosamine.
