Impressionism vs. Cubism Essay
Impressionism vs. Cubism
Art, according to Webster s Dictionary, is a human skill of expression of other objects by painting,
drawing, and sculpture. People have used art as a form of expression for a long time. From the
Mesopotamian era to the Classical Greeks and the present. Art is expressed in many different ways
and styles, and is rapidly changing, one style replacing another. Impressionism and Cubism broke
away from the traditional style of painting. They were both looking for a new way to express everyday
life. Time is an important tool that is used in Cubism as well as Impressionism. This element is
expressed in Claude Monet s Sunrise and Pablo Picasso s Man with a Violin in different ways.

It is composed of geometrical shapes, abstraction and time. There are no specific colors or objects
used. Cubists were looking for a different way to express human form as well as art in general. They
provided what we could almost call a God s eye view of reality: every aspect of the whole subject,
seen simultaneously in a single dimension. According to Fiero, the Cubist image, conceived as if one
were moving around, above, and below the subject and even perceiving it from within, appropriated
the fourth dimension time itself. In a sense, Cubism is four dimensional: depth, height, breath, and
time, but seen all at once. It displays different viewpoints from different aspects. The object is taken
and looked at in many perspectives and is represented that way on the canvas. Monet s painting
Sunrise displays vivid color, which is commonly used among impressionists. The painting is of the
sun rising over the lake, over looking the bay and the boats within. Sunrise is a patently a seascape;
but the painting says more about how one sees than about what one sees. It transcribes the fleeting
effects of light and the changing atmosphere of water and air into a tissue of small dots and streaks of
color the elements of pure perception (Fiero 114). This painting is typical of its style because it
captures light at that moment. The sun is rising and its color is projected to everything in its path.
Monet seems to capture this

How The Media Regulate Agents
What is the Landscape Currently?
Now that an analysis has been constructed to compare the media regulating agents, a second analysis
must be molded in order to recognize the current media landscape. This needs to be established in
order to bring justification to any policy changes at the government or industrial levels. If the common
child s media landscape reflexes the sociocultural environment that is desired, then no policy change
is require. On the other hand, if there is dissonance present, then a policy adjustment is needed. The
question now rises on what type of sociocultural environment is desired. While this can be highly
subjected on an individual case, one could make argument for broaden sociocultural goals on a macro

With that being said, it is still possible to create a sociocultural goal to act as a standard to compare
with media policies. Many of these standards are already incorporated into the language of American
policies. For example, violence, sexual, profane, and dangerous substance contents are used as a
standard in most of the industries regulatory systems. Typically these standards are a reflection of
risky or illegal behavior that could be modeled by the audience. For the purpose of this article, a look
at two of these common standards will be evaluated in two parts. First, an evaluation of the media
content s relationship to influence the audience to conduct in a risky behavior will be reviewed, and
second it s prevalence in the current media landscape will be mentioned. For the sake of relevance
towards the legality of the situation, this article will look at the content of violent and sexual content in
media. While many other standards can and need to be discussed, these two are the most prevalent in
the current media and political conversation. How does Violence Play in Children Media? In a
longitudinal study that lasted for fifteen years, Leonard Eron and Rowell Huesmann found a specific
causation between the violent television content and an increase amount of aggression from adults
who were raised in this

Accounting Based On Fair Value
Executive Summary: In October 2004 at their mutual meeting, the IASB and the US FASB chose to
add to personal plans a combined task to create a typical theoretical structure, based on both the
current IASB and the FASB Conceptual Framework, both Boards would use as a premise for their
accounting standards. The process of measurement determines the monetary amounts at which the
elements of the financial statements are to be recorded and carried in the financials book. This report
pays the concerns to the three major trends of Measurement systems, which are: 1) Historic cost

Directly or indirectly, financial reporting measurements of performance and financial position affect
almost everyone. They help to determine whether a business is regarded as a failure or a success,
whether its employees earn a bonus, whether they keep their jobs, what dividends investors receive,
and how much tax the business pays. In the context of measurement, the aspiration expressed by Sir
David Tweedie, the Chairman of the IASB, is an appealing one: The real objective is to have one
single set of accounting standards, so it doesn t matter whether a transaction takes place in any part of
the world, we ll account for it the same way. The significant role of Measurement First and foremost,
this Report shall provide a general background on the issue of Measurement. Theorists have indicated
the definition of measurement, and in the case of Campbell, Measurement is: The assignment of
numerals to represent properties of material systems other than numbers, while Stevens suggests that it
is: The assignment of numerals to objects or events according to rules. (Stevens, 1946) Generally,
most theorists agree upon the definition of Measurement as the linking of formal number system to
some properties, or objects and events under a chain of semantic rules. In the case of Accounting,
these rules are indicated by transactions. In other words, Accounting is recorded on the

Comparison In Society In Fahrenheit 451 And Today s Society
Comparison in societies in Fahrenheit 451 and today s society Fahrenheit 451 has a great deal of
government control, technology that is advanced it is injurious to the society and the people there, and
that censorship has been a terrible thing for the people. Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 reveals how
the society, which is a dystopia can be detrimental with more government control, and how censorship
blinds the people in the society, and how technology gets to advanced it can be a inimical thing and
how it has been shown or not shown in today s society.
Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopia that has too much government control, technology that is used to blind
the people in the society so that nobody questions anything about what is going wrong in it. Also, the
technology is advanced by a metallic hound that hunts and captures criminals. He also manages to
incinerate the Mechanical Hound, but not before he is injured by it. . This one example of how the
advanced technology is harming the society. The Hounds are programmed to capture or kill people
who are caught violating this law. They also deceive people with fancy new technology, such as giant
TVs that are installed into the wall it keeps them from questioning or think about their life and
everything that goes on. This is the main reason why people do not see anything wrong with the
dystopia, they are in because the government explains that the books are full of false ideas such as
firefighters use to put out fires instead of

The Influence of Religion in Phillis Wheatley s Life Essay
The Influence of Religion in Phillis Wheatley s Life
Phillis Wheatley overcame extreme obstacles, such as racism and sexism, to become one of the most
acclaimed poets in the 18th Century. Her works are characterized by religious and moral backgrounds,
which are due to the extensive education of religion she received. In this sense, her poems also fit into
American Poetry. However, she differs in the way that she is a black woman whose writings tackle
greater subjects while incorporating her moral standpoint. By developing her writing, she began
speaking out against injustices that she faced and, consequently, gave way to authors such as
Gwendolyn Brooks and Countee Cullen.

In general, religion was a large part of Boston. Few slaves were encouraged to attend church;
however, the Wheatleys attended New South Congregational Church and encouraged Phillis to
embrace the Lord as they had (Mason 4). Because she was asthmatic, she attended Old South
Congregational Church, which was closer to the Wheatley residence (Weidt 15).
By the age of twelve, she had become quite familiar with the Bible as well as literary works of
contemporary English poets. In addition, she translated works by the Latin and Greek writers Ovid
and Homer, respectively (Mason 4). At this same time, after being in Boston for about four years, she
began to take an interest in writing (Mason 4). Susanna supplied Phillis with paper and ink to enable
her to write and even allowed Phillis to ignore her household duties to write emdash;something that
was practically unheard of for a slave (Mason 5). However, Susanna was accommodating because she
wanted Phillis to pursue her religious education and believed that writing would enable her to do so.
Phillis fascination with writing grew, and as time passed, she became especially interested in authors
that shared her religious beliefs. Her favorite writer was Alexander Pope, who was also a Christian. He
was famous for his elegies, which usually had some uplifting conclusion, where hope and love and
faith usually triumph over death to honor

What Is The Context Of Macbeth
Societies of different cultural contexts hold many ideologies, and the people of the time period are
expected to not stray from them. William Shakespeare s innovate and tragic drama, Macbeth,
published in 1606 and set in the Jacobean/Elizabethan (Early Modern England), sketches the story of a
Scottish nobleman Macbeth, who one day encounters three witches who conjure dark notions of his
future and tell the prophecy that he will one day become King of Scotland. The drama follows through
with Macbeth as his ambitious desires and obsession with royalty lead to his ultimate downfall
inchmeal, involving madness, murder and utmost guilt. Macbeth is a reflection of its context of

Platonic Ideal
Let me give it a little more flesh for Daniel and Colin.
To drive my point, I will seem to drift off a little first, so bear with me. Consider the Organised Mind,
and I think some neuroscience can shed some light on this line thing but before that, let s consider
birds forexample, according to our most recent understanding, a perfect bird (or any Platonic ideal) is
a concept that exists only as a collection of neuronal connections. When I say a perfect bird , I mean
the sort you might find in a children s book, or that a child would draw. A sparrow is close to a perfect
bird. it flies, it s smallish, it builds nests, it has fluffy feathers... a penguin, however, is not a perfect
bird (psychologically). Some people might add tenative language, like well, a penguin is *technically*
a bird... and this reluctance is due to the penguin not sharing as many features of the Platonic ideal.
Another example would be a whale. Many children might assume a whale to be a fish I know I did.
When I first learnt otherwise, I said things like Did you know a whale is technically a mammal ? As if
it shouldn t qualify to be a whole and entire mammal.
But we are not born with an innate knowledge of mammal dom or bird dom. Instead, the chronology
seems to go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A line might well be an inbuilt concept. Some categories have been useful to us for so long that they
seem to be hardwired in, parent or food would be examples. There have been people with brain
damage so specific that they are unable to understand the concept of an edible plant, suggesting that
this, too, is an endowed concept. I would suggest that a line falls into this category. It is so
fundamental to understand that moving towards something in a straight line will get you there better
than curving towards it, that this category of straight lines and things close to them has been of value
since the very dawn of the brain and is almost certainly

Television In The 1980 s
Revolutionized TV s: In the movie back to the future 2 they demonstrated a fascinating idea of the
innovation of the television. While the Televisions had the same exterior as the TV s in the 1980 s,
they had an thought provoking feature in them, and this was because they were portable and had voice
recognition to be able to respond to the customer with a greater efficiency. Even though the TV was
primarily used for taking Marty s commands, the fact that it was moveable was quite bewildering to
me as a spectator. The TV s in the movie had the identical appearance as the former boxed television s
that were used in the 1980 s and had the equivalent tuning knobs built in to the bottom of the TV.
Airborne Cars: The concept of transport that was presented in the movie was of flying cars which I
thought was quite an unoriginal idea to most modernized movies. The flying cars seen were typically
like jet aircrafts and supercars that exist today. The cars were capable of transporting people as any
normal vehicle would but were portrayed to be competent to fly at extraordinary speeds. The distinct
features of the flying cars were that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that a 3D shark was high tech represents that the portrayal wasn t very outlying from reality.
Nowadays we can go to the theaters and watch movies in 3D.
In my opinion, 2015 will not be a much of a game changer compared to the current year we are in. I
feel that an encroachment in technology isn t regarded to be as elevated as it was in the 1980 s and
other years, principally since there were more basic things that were not thought of and the fact that
there s not much left but to just go forward in those views sort of renders it so that the technology won

Black Males In America Often Suffer The Consequences Of
Black males in America often suffer the consequences of stereotypical judgment placed upon them.
Because of the conventional image given to black males, they immediately have to deal with the
repercussions of social inequality. In what some consider White America , white males have always
been thought to have white privilege. Black males have been abused for hundreds of years, dating way
back to slavery which began in the 1600 s.
In 1940, Richard Wright wrote a book that later became one of the greatest novels of American

Airline Pricing And The Game Of Yield Management
Airline Pricing and the Game of Yield Management
For the past few decades, the airlines are looking for the possibility to improve their yield
management to maximize their profit. In order to achieve it, they have started to develop the yield
management analysis, to understand the best time to sell the flight tickets with higher or lower prices,
so, helping them to decide properly.
How can airline companies improve their yield management in order to increase their profit without
demand analysis? According to the OpenStax College, economists have defined the term demand as
the amount of some good or service consumers are willing and able to purchase at each price . . . [and]
based on needs and wants . . . [and] based on an ability to pay (2014, Demand for Goods and Services
section, para. 1). Thus, is possible to consider the demand analysis as a useful tool which airline
companies can adopt to fully understand the main microeconomic aspects that are being affected by
the behavior of their customers and also, their final results.
This paper intends to examine whether the elasticity of demand plays a role in profit maximization,
whether the practice of business behavior pricing is reflected in the principles, and how price
discrimination helps airline companies to reach their objective in profit maximization.
A way to comprehend the connection between the elasticity of demand and the profit maximization, it
is needed first to conceptualize the demand in terms of economic

Nazi Ideology And The Nazi Party Essay
The leaders of the Nazi party made it one of the most infamous groups to lead a nation in history. The
horrible things done under their rule and with their stamp of approval has made the term Nazi one of
the worst possible. The amazing thing about the Nazi party is that many of the main aspects of their
ideology existed in Germany even before they formed or came to power. Some of the major aspects of
Nazi ideology such as antisemitism, the desire to expand the German empire, and the belief in the
strength of the Aryan race existed in Germany years before Adolf Hitler was a name anyone in
Germany would recognize. The most widely known aspects of Nazi ideology are their hatred of
Jewish people and their tireless efforts to exterminate the entire race during their rule. This distinctly
Nazi belief of antisemitism is not one that the Nazis created. It instead had existed for several
thousand years throughout Germany and all of Europe. As Stackelberg and Winkle explain, The
origins of the stereotype of Jews as immoral materialists can be traced to the unwillingness of Jews to
give up their religion in favor of world renouncing Christianity (Stackelberg and Winkle, Anti
Semitism, p. 2). This feeling of hatred towards Jews persisted for centuries, especially in countries that
had a majority of Christian citizens. There were a number of people that continually perpetuated these
anti Semitic views with the works that they published and their actions towards Jews. A great

Excessive release of this chemical leads to sleeplessness that affects normal human cycle. This
contributes immensely to regular and sustained burnouts due to sleep deprivation (Seib, Whiteside,
Humphrey, Lee, Thomas, Chopin, ... Anderson, 2014). Additionally, catecholamines affect the frontal
region of the brain, which is instrumental in short term and long term memories (King, Lloyd Holewa,
2008). This leads to poor memory and retention capacity. Acute stress tends to have a long term
mental health impact that affects multiple regions.
The second response mechanism towards stress is by the heart, circulatory system and the lungs (Seib
et al., 2014; Wells, 2013). Uncontrolled release of metabolic signals leads to poor digestion and
absorption of bear. As the concentration of bear increases, the heart beat increases to try and distribute
the concentration of bear to other parts of the body, which leads to an increase in blood pressure (Seib
et al., 2014; Wells, 2013). To country oxygen demand, the breathing system suddenly increases as the
lungs take in as much oxygen as they possibly can to satisfy its shortage in the blood stream (Wells,
2013). On the other hand, the spleen increases discharge of white and red blood cells to ensure that
more blood cells are available to transport excess oxygen throughout the circulatory system. Research

Compulsory Voter Turnout In The United States
Voter turnouts in the U.S. are spectacularly low compared to most other democracies. Turnout has not
reached over 70% in the last century while other developing nations and quite a few third world
nations have registered higher turnouts. During the 2016 presidential election, only about 55.7% of the
population cast their votes according to newly released Census Bureau figures. The U.S. trails far
below compared to the other developed nations hovering over 80% which were, Belgium (87.2%),
Sweden (82.6%) and Denmark (80.3%). How could this be? Is the U.S. political system built in a way
where many people believe that their votes don t matter or should compulsory voting be enforced?

The U.S. uses a system called the electoral college to elect the president and each state has a number
of electors equal to the number of representatives they have in Congress. After the polls close on
election day, these electors decide who they are going to cast their votes for based on the popular votes
in that state. Most states will cast all of their electoral votes for only one candidate but some will allow
their electors to split their votes. Casting out one candidate is unfair as it wipes out the votes of almost
half of that state because one candidate did a little better. Popular vote does not equal presidency
because the choices are made by electoral colleges and not the American people. For this reason,
people have come to believe that, whether they vote or not, it doesn t affect

The Structure of a Financial Crisis Essay
The Structure of a Financial Crisis
INTRODUCTION
The year 2001 had been unlucky for Turkey. Apart from the crisis in 1994 and November 2000, the
country had to face another financial crisis, causing problems in the management of its economy. Why
does a country delve deep into financial crisis? What are the possible immediate triggers for both the
current and potential new crises? What precautions should be taken for the key issues like the fragility
of the financial and banking system, belated reforms and privatisation, rampant corruption, exchange
rate policy? And how can the governments satisfy the markets and people to undertake these reforms?
The current crisis has not hit the country overnight. This article ... Show more content on

However, unlike the Transition Economies, Turkey embarked on a prospective plan to privatise a
major part of the public sector in the mid 80 s and laws enacting and enabling the privatisation of the
State Owned Enterprises (SOE) in late 1985, was an important breakthrough. In the 1990 s
privatisation went ahead but caused disappointment in many sectors. Most privatised firms could not
improve their performance and some that succeeded, had been profitable already as SOEs. But that
was not the only problem the country had to face. Turkey had already begun to face significant
problems regarding the Privatisation Policy in the 1990 s. These mentioned problems not only aroused
from the aggregate demand concerning the SOE, and the negative effect of investment but the ongoing
debate carried by the opposing political parties in the Parliament.
The governments have overcome several difficulties and successfully resumed privatisation in the
beginning of the second decade. Though the outcome was promising, the program proceeded more
slowly than the original plan. In 1993 for example, a net revenue of US$ 543 millions was raised
through several privatised firms including two electric companies, two communications equipment
manufacturers, a supermarket chain and four cement factories. In 1994 a total of approximately US$
412 million was

The On A Sleepy Mind And Sleepy Body
Introduction
There is a large difference between a sleepy mind and a sleepy body, but the combination is the
characteristics of a fatigued person. A fatigued person has behavior similar to that of drunkenness,
[under] the effects of a large dose of alcohol [1]. Many careers, which include high stress situations
and strict timelines, often deprive employees of a good rest due to their working environment. An
example of such would be the life of an Airline Pilot, where passenger safety, fast changing weather
and inconvenient schedules prevent the Pilot from receiving enough rest. In a British study done in
2014, 86.1% of Pilots reported that they commenced a shift while fatigued and reported feeling utterly
drained, very slow to think and process information [2]. Such conditions can cause a lack of
judgments and more mistakes occur, which in turn leads to accidents. Airlines and government
agencies have developed techniques and laws which aid the flight crew to operate while being well
rested, resulting in reduced errors. [enter purpose systems]
Causes and Sympoms A leading cause in fatigue in pilots is the long hours and times of commuting
between flights. Especially at the entry level flying positions, as a result of the low pay, pilots cannot
afford to live near major airports and are required to drive for a long period of time, which can further
aggravate exhaustion. Along with that, many airlines require their pilots to operate through bases
which are different

The I Drove My Friend s Diesel Station Wagon
The first time I drove my friend s diesel station wagon, I was impressed. How it seemingly sipped
single droplets of fuel amazed me. In contrast, my father s pickup truck guzzles gasoline like a
drunkard downs alcohol. In our time of expensive petroleum and tight environmental restrictions, an
automobile that can travel farther with less fuel means everything. Today, the very word diesel is
synonymous with efficiency and reliability, and most importantly, savings for the people. But
throughout our country s history, diesel has seen storm and calm, rain and shine. To understand its
significance to us in the 21st century, we must explore the history of the word, from how it came to be,
to how it has defined hope and progress, disdain and disappointment, advancement and recognition.
Most of all, we must examine its relevance to people of the times. In the Oxford English Dictionary,
diesel is defined as a type of internal combustion engine invented by Rudolf Diesel. ( Diesel ) In 1893,
Mr. Diesel patented the first working prototype of his concept, created with the goal of overcoming
the major drawback of the gasoline engine, high fuel consumption. As Diesel collaborated with
manufactures to build upon his designs, the automotive world quickly realized the advantage of such
an engine. Diesel s engines were capable of running on a variety of fuels that were cheaper than
gasoline, including tar oil, paraffin oil, and kerosene, and using less of it. They also proved to be

How Homeschooling Should Be Banned
Resolve that homeschooling should be banned. Imagine, you are a parent and you want the best
education for your child. Which do you choose, a public school, or homeschooling? The answer is
blatantly obvious, and I m here to tell you why. Firstly, you have to work to provide for YOURSELF,
let alone a FAMILY. It takes $10.20 per hour to provide for yourself, now let s take that times the
average family size. On average, a family has 2 parents and 2.5 children, so 4.5 people. So let s
multiply that by the needed hourly wage. This gets us $45.90 an hour, which is a HUGE
underestimate, (which means no extra luxuries, like having your children in sports) but we should just
go with this number for simplicity. $45.90 an hour isn t a devastating number, as long as you have 2
working parents. But with homeschooling one parent will have to take off A LOT of work to off
educate their children. So let s assume that you have 1.4 working parents with the average hourly
wage (so one full time working parent and one that has to take off SIX TENTHS of their jobs) , and
keep in mind this is generous for my opponent s side of the argument. This will give us, wait for it...
only 23.39! This isn t even close to provide for a family, in fact that s only enough to provide for the
parents!
And yes, I do realize that this won t be a problem to all families. Some will be able to afford this with
ease. Also this isn t a reason it should be banned, but rather a hindrance to a majority of families.

Humanism and the Renaissance Arts
When discussing the Renaissance; the most intimate area of focus are, art and architecture. Although
no one really talks about Renaissance being an obvious era of some of the greatest and most
innovative masters of painting, sculptures and builders. Or even that It is also the most influential eras
that marked the emergence of a great deal of Scholars, thinkers, writers and philosophers. Regardless
the Renaissance (a French word for rebirth ) was a much needed time for awakening, from the
intellectual darkness of the medieval direction, and the rise of many, concepts that would form the
basis for civilization as we know it today. Renaissance is a term that was created in the nineteenth
century originally to symbolize the revival of art and letters from the influences of ancient Roman and
Greek models. The Renaissance was unquestionable, a distinct era. Logical thoughts and morals from
the ancient Greek and Roman individuals headed towards humanistic beliefs and encouraged people to
become multi talented people. As a result, the Renaissance people became a prominent population. As
the ideals of the people changed, religion could no longer control their lives and Allowed
advancements in all characteristics of life to virtually improved.
Through the period of the Renaissance, ideas and beliefs changed greatly. Humanism played a
significant role in the advancements of the Renaissance. Humanism, stressed secular ideas and beliefs;

My Favorite Theory Of Mythology
Myths have been a part of human lives for as long as time goes back. They tell stories, explain how
things came to be, and have formed the base of many cultures throughout human history. The most
difficult thing modern people come across when reading a myth is interpreting it. For this reason, I
will explain my favorite theory of mythology and talk a little bit about the other theories. There are
four theories of mythology; the rational theory, functional theory, structural theory, and psychological
theory. Of these four theories, I feel the psychological theory is the most effective and correct way to
interpret myths. To show why I believe this I will explain the psychological theory and show how it is
effective across many different myths. The psychological theory looks at myths through the human
mind and subconscious. People who interpret myths using this theory attempt to connect ideas in
peoples subconscious to themes seen in myths. This theory came about in the 19th century when the
science of psychology was expanding along with the discovery of more myths. The paired growth of
these two things made the psychological approach inevitable and the two big names that contributed
most are, Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung. In Freud s book Totem and Taboo he states his discovery of
the human Oedipus complex. Freud believes that this complex forms in children at a young age, and
causes children to have an unconscious sexual desire for the parent of the same sex and want to

How Did Huck Finn Influence Tom Sawyer
As the book starts, Huck introduces himself by stating about his character in The Adventures of Tom
Sawyer. He opens the book by saying what a great book it is. Being the narrator, Huck explains that
Mark Twain, author, told the truth in Tom Sawyer, which was to expose the racial discrimination
against African Americans.
In the next few lines, Huck describes the events that have happened since the end of The Adventures
of Tom Sawyer. Tom also influences Huck and gives in and returns to the Widow, but we begin to see
his hatred and apathy for the society as the novel goes on. Moreover, it looks like the widow is
affectionate towards Huck, since she feels like a mother to him. But Huck doesn t feel that he can be

This can be seen when he says I don t take no stock in dead people. As Miss Watson explains how
Heaven is, Huck starts to think that Heaven is dull and boring. This is shown when Huck says So I
didn t think much of it. He believes there is no fun in singing, playing the harp and wandering around
all day long. Huck also likes Tom so much that he wants to say with him even in Hell. In short, these
quotes show that Huck doesn t believe in religion.
In this quote, the Widow tries to influence Huck by telling him her point of view on Providence and
religion. In addition, Huck believes that he is not worthy of doing this kind of work because he is
selfish. He believes there is no advantage in helping others because he says I couldn t see no
advantage about it except for the other people.
Twain puts a lot of imagery in this quote to describe Huck s father. Huck s father, Pap, is shown as a
typical southerner. He drinks a lot and is often violent. When he is found dead, there are many playing
cards lying around him with empty alcohol

Slave Women in Harriet Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and Toni Morrison s Beloved
Slavery was a horrible institution that dehumanized a race of people. Female slave bondage was
different from that of men. It wasn t less severe, but it was different. The sexual abuse, child bearing,
and child care responsibilities affected the females s pattern of resistance and how they conducted
their lives. Harriet Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, demonstrates the different role that
women slaves had and the struggles that were caused from having to cope with sexual abuse.

When she wanted to escape into freedom, her bonds to her children were so great that it was hard for
her to leave them. Jacobs couldn t stand the suppression and constant abuse of her master. She couldn

Nobody respects a mother who forsakes her children: and if you leave them, you will never have a
happy moment. (Jacobs, 417)
The slave women s choices in life were not limited to her happiness, but she had to think about her
children. A mother had different responsibilities that she had to deal with. By having to deal with
sexual abuse and thinking about children women were less able to leave their chains and people

Xaverian Values Analysis
The Xaverian values are an integral piece of the mission of Good Counsel and, ideally, of its students
as well. These values are: humility, simplicity, compassion, zeal, and trust. Throughout my service,
some which was completed to fulfill the school requirement and some which was not, and any
leadership opportunities I participated in, I was, at the time unknowingly, striving to fulfill these
values. To truly serve, or to truly lead, the understanding and application of these values is crucial. A
specific instance of leadership and service in which my demonstration of these values is evident was
my volunteer work with Easter Seals. I was a respite volunteer with Easter Seals. This meant that I

I demonstrated this value while volunteering with Easter Seals by freeing the lives of the parents of
children who participated in the respite trips from a good deal of complexity. Through volunteering
with this organization, as a whole, we were able to alleviate complexity and simplify, if only for a
while, the lives of these parents so that they were able to accomplish other things or take a much
needed break. This opportunity to participate as a volunteer on respite trips led to think about and later
attempt to display the Xaverian value of humility. Being a part of an organization like this one
prompted me to consider that I had a part in it, but that I was by no means the most important part.
Realizing this led to the demonstration of this value by taking care to fulfill my responsibilities to the
best of my abilities while also keeping in mind that I was making a difference but I was not the
deciding factor and that that was okay. Compassion is a Xaverian value that I found fairly easy to
demonstrate in the context of Easter Seals. One of the reasons I decided to volunteer with this
organization was the fact that it helped people that I had a huge amount of sympathy for and that I
wanted to help. I was able to help make the lives of the families who participated in the respite trips
better and easier, for the kids on the trips by giving them the chance to experience things they might
not otherwise have had the chance to and for the parents by allowing them the time to accomplish
other things or some much needed time to recharge. This service also presented me with the
opportunity to display the Xaverian value of zeal. Easter Seals serves a cause that I believe in and
volunteering with them allows me to also serve this cause and to do so with fervor. This fervor is what
motivated me to continue to volunteer there and to make sure that every time I did, my responsibilities

How To Prevent A Diaphragm
Opening:
A diaphragm is a flexible silicone cup specially designed to be inserted in to the vagina to cover the
cervix before sex in order to keep sperm away from eggs. This is a popular method of contraception.
Body:
To gain the most effectiveness with diaphragm, a little spermicide cream will be put inside the cup and
around the rim. Before inserting the diaphragm, make sure you clean your hands thoroughly. You can
stand or sit, as long as you are comfortable. Separate your vulva lips, then fold the diaphragm in half
with your index finger in the fold, and push it up inside your vagina. The diaphragn is supposed to
cover the opening of your uterus, with the edge tucked behind your public bone.
You have to leave the diaphragm in at least 6 hours after intercourse. If it is in place, you can have sex
more than once, but you should reapply spermicide for maximum contraceptive effect. However, the
diaphragm needs to be removed after 24 hours. To take it out, you can hold onto to rim and pull out
with your fingers. After that, clean your diaphragm with soap and water, then let it air dry. ... Show

Romanticism And Realism In Twain s The Adventures Of Tom...
Twain s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer satirizes the quixotism of individuals, expressive of the
American people s pragmatic mentality toward life during the wake of the Realism movement of the
nineteenth century. Following the Civil War, which ended in 1865, the Realism movement prompted
artists to depict an accurate portrayal of society, which at the time, was in a state of havoc. In fact, it
was a reaction to the Romantic movement that preceded it, which emphasized the importance of
imagination. Twain s intentional narrative voice in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer enhances the novel
by exposing and mocking the fraudulent nature of individuals, derived from the unrealistic
expectations that are most commonly influenced by Romantic ideals. In fact, the term quixotism
derives from Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra s Don Quixote where the principle figure dreams up an
ideal world where he is the hero. Twain s characterizations reflect these views by depicting flaws such
as the extreme focus on one s influence to the rest of society, reminiscent of the Romantic maxims of
importance of oneself and individuality. In addition, Twain s satirical and blunt tone further enhance
the novel by expressing the dissatisfaction with institutions, such as the Church. Lastly, he shows an
impertinent attitude toward death, an object often glorified in romantic literature. As mentioned
before, Twain s aims his most prominent critiques in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer at religion. By

Is The Three To-One Blend Of Methylchloro Isothiazolinone
CMIT/MIT: The three to one blend of methylchloro isothiazolinone (CMIT) and
methylisothiazolinone (MIT) is commonly used as a biocide in polymer dispersions. CMIT/MIT is a
broad spectrum biocide that works between 3 9 pH. The mode of action for the CMIT/MIT is that it
reacts with the cell proteins causing the inhibition of respiration and ATP synthesis (PCIMAG).
Isothiazolones first mechanism which is performed in minutes is the swift inhibition of growth and
metabolism. This is then tailed by loss of viability due to irreversible cell damage which happens in a
matter of hours. Inhibition occurs by disrupting the metabolic pathways involving dehydrogenase
enzymes. Microbes are quickly inhibited due to the inhibition of critical physiological functions
including growth, respiration, and energy generation (adenosine triphosphate synthesis). Cell death
results in the destruction of protein thiols and production of free radicals. Compounds such as
surfactants can enhance and speed up the rate of inhibition and death. (Williams, 2007)
The interaction of isothiazolone biocides with microbial cells proceeds via several sequential
reactions. Initially, a biocide molecule reacts with a thiol group to form a disulphide linkage with the
biocide. This structure then interacts with a second thiol group to establish a new disulphide linkage.
Following this, the cell releases the biocide as a mercaptoacrylamide. The mercaptoacrylamide
derivative of CMIT tautomerizes to a thioacyl chloride under physiological conditions. The thioacyl
chloride is highly reactive and proceeds to interact with other cell macromolecules. The ability of
CMIT to degrade to a thioacyl chloride might account for it s much greater antimicrobial activity
when compared to BIT or MIT. (Daniel, 1997)
Barman did a study on the first order rate constant and half life values for the degradation of MIT
(Kathon 886 MW) and a MIT/CMIT (Kathon MWC) Mixture. These consist of 2 methyl 4
isothiazolin 3 one and its chlorinated counterpart, 5 chloro 2 methyl 4 isothiazolin 3 one. At 100 fold
more effective, the chlorinated counterpart is considered to be the active and require concentrations
100 fold less than MIT. In fact, at very low concentrations of just 2 20 ppm

Research Paper On Solar Energy
Solar energy is radiant light and heat from the Sun that is harnessed using a range of ever evolving
technologies such as solar heating, photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar architecture and artificial
photosynthesis. The Solar energy as a kind of natural energy, with its abundant and no polluting shows
its unique advantages, has been internationally recognized as one of the most competitive energy
future. The application of solar energy has a hug impact on society. The application of solar energy
has a long history. Back to thousands years ago, in china. People used a concave mirror to convergent
sunlight flame ignited moxa. That is a great progress in human history. In 1615, a French engineer de
Caux (also, de Caus) invented the a solar powered water pump. He imagined a lot of applications of
his steam powered machine, including the motorcars, but none of them came to a realization. At the
EXPO in Paris in 1878, the first solar printing machine was on display. Solar energy is widely used
and by continuous study because it has many advantages. First of all, it is inexhaustible renewable
energy. The energy from the sun radiation is about 1.6x1023kw per second. The energy that reaches
the earth approximately 8x1013kw per second. That s equivalent of 6x109 tons of standard coal. And
the life of the sun is at least 4 billion years left. Second solar is widely distributed, sunshine goes

Analysis Of Ray Bradbury And Ursula Le Guin
A Convenient Society One can unknowingly suffer for the sake of society s convenience. Both
authors, Ray Bradbury and Ursula Le Guin, demonstrate the suffering that the protagonist endures in
order to serve their society. A variety of rhetorical strategies and modes contribute to the overall role
of the protagonists. Ray Bradbury uses personification and the rhetorical mode of pathos to convey the
oblivious suffering that the protagonist, the smart house , undergoes. Ursula Le Guin utilizes diction
and the rhetorical mode of pathos to demonstrate the society s dependency on the life of a young,
hopeless boy. Through the authors use of diction, personification, and the rhetorical mode of pathos,
readers can view both short stories in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Ray Bradbury s August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains , The McClellan family home seems
equipped with every imaginable technological innovation, but it fails to provide more human qualities
like love (Devers). This excerpt is an example of how the author expresses personification in this short
story. The house has each and every technical tool that it needs to function, yet, it does not have the
love of its owners any longer. Along with personification, Bradbury uses the rhetorical mode of pathos
to demonstrate how the house continues to carry out its daily functions even though the surrounding
society has suffered. An example of how Bradbury attempts to capture the reader s emotional psyche
is, In the nursery the jungle burned. Blue lions roared, purple giraffes bounded off....Ten more voices
died... . This allows readers to feel sorry for the perishing animals that are dying in the burning house.
As Bradbury uses personification and pathos to engage readers into the short story, readers can
emotionally relate and visualize a house that continues to function without a society. In The Ones Who
Walk Away From Omelas written by Ursula Le Guin, a society is depicted as a care free utopia. In this
society lies the protagonist. In the beginning of the short story, Le Guin asks the reader question such
as, How describe the citizens of Omelas .

Life Cycle Of A Social Problem Essay
The Life Cycle of a Social Problem nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;A social problem is a condition that

This is the most important part of the life cycle of a social problem . This part have huge impact on
how and what solutions are considered. During this debate there are a couple of various causal
interpretations. One of these is a systematic attribution which the critical approach leans towards. In
way of thinking the system itself is problematic and generates difficulties for the individual. This
means that the issue is a problem and the person or group of people that brought forth this issue will
have to show why it is a problem in the social world. This can difficult situation which is a norm when
trying to change something. The next way of interpreting a situation is called personal attribution. This
is primarily used by dominated groups and also public officials. They use this because it is much
easier to blame the person or group that has brought this issue into public light then to try to fixing it.
Once all sides has said there peace the last part of this step is complex bargaining between both sides.
nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The last stage of the life cycle of a social problem is that of a resolution.
Power is the number one way on how the solution is going to come about and what solutions are going
to be even considered to be a way to solve the issue at hand. People in power determine four basic
things. They first have the decision on if the issue will even reach the

policies, and policies were rarely enforced. The team member had an employee hold the door for him
under the guise that he had forgotten his ID card. All it took was a nice business suit, and a smile.
Networking assessments, and change management were not done on a continuous basis against the
entire organization versus isolated segments. This enabled an administrator to attach a network
attached storage (NAS) device on the network. While the administrator may have initially meant to
remove the NAS after backing up a troubled system, the NAS device stood on the network for months.
Data stored on the NAS device had a bigger financial impact than all the currency kept in every single

The depiction of women in all forms of media, including...
The depiction of women in all forms of media, including print, broadcasted and internet media, is
constantly showing that they are the weaker of the two sexes. Gender. What is it? How does it make us
who we are? Are we dependent on it? So many questions derive from this one word, gender. Gender,
according to ITU is the social attributes and opportunities associated with being male and female .
There are so many different parts of the term gender and so many roles that each sex partakes in. One
role that I have noticed amongst every form of media, weather it is in books or in movies is that
women appear to be the weaker of the two sexes.
I don t believe women are weak and there have been many changes in society to this day that agree ...

I think Disney is the obvious choice to blame for the portrayal of weak women. I mean, Disney
resolves around the idea that women need rescuing, that we are the damsels in distress. I, being 16,
grew up watching Cinderella, Snow White and Rapunzel. All those movies have the same common
motif, that one day my prince will come . In fact, the entire Disney princess movies collection seems
to have the same story line. The endings all had the same idea involving being rescued or saved by a
prince charming .
Another popular kid s movie that was created, that did have some hope for the depiction of women
was Shrek. The idea of the damsel in distress was turned on its head when Princess Fiona got the
shock of her life when the big ogre showed up to rescue her. Fiona went from being the damsel to the
sudden I m better than you attitude because Shrek didn t live up to the typical prince charming .
However Shrek lost this powerful message by the end of the movie and completely threw it in the bag
by the end of the third movie in the motion picture series when Fiona and Shrek got married and had a
family. Yeah, it was sweet and had the message that it is wrong to judge people solely by their
appearances alone, but it also showed the transformation that Fiona took to become perfect for Shrek.
When I am down in the dumps and just want to relax with a nice cup of hot cocoa and watch some
romantic movie that makes every teenage girl reassess her life,

  • 2. Impressionism vs. Cubism Essay Impressionism vs. Cubism Art, according to Webster s Dictionary, is a human skill of expression of other objects by painting, drawing, and sculpture. People have used art as a form of expression for a long time. From the Mesopotamian era to the Classical Greeks and the present. Art is expressed in many different ways and styles, and is rapidly changing, one style replacing another. Impressionism and Cubism broke away from the traditional style of painting. They were both looking for a new way to express everyday life. Time is an important tool that is used in Cubism as well as Impressionism. This element is expressed in Claude Monet s Sunrise and Pablo Picasso s Man with a Violin in different ways. Impressionists works ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is composed of geometrical shapes, abstraction and time. There are no specific colors or objects used. Cubists were looking for a different way to express human form as well as art in general. They provided what we could almost call a God s eye view of reality: every aspect of the whole subject, seen simultaneously in a single dimension. According to Fiero, the Cubist image, conceived as if one were moving around, above, and below the subject and even perceiving it from within, appropriated the fourth dimension time itself. In a sense, Cubism is four dimensional: depth, height, breath, and time, but seen all at once. It displays different viewpoints from different aspects. The object is taken and looked at in many perspectives and is represented that way on the canvas. Monet s painting Sunrise displays vivid color, which is commonly used among impressionists. The painting is of the sun rising over the lake, over looking the bay and the boats within. Sunrise is a patently a seascape; but the painting says more about how one sees than about what one sees. It transcribes the fleeting effects of light and the changing atmosphere of water and air into a tissue of small dots and streaks of color the elements of pure perception (Fiero 114). This painting is typical of its style because it captures light at that moment. The sun is rising and its color is projected to everything in its path. Monet seems to capture this ... • 3. How The Media Regulate Agents What is the Landscape Currently? Now that an analysis has been constructed to compare the media regulating agents, a second analysis must be molded in order to recognize the current media landscape. This needs to be established in order to bring justification to any policy changes at the government or industrial levels. If the common child s media landscape reflexes the sociocultural environment that is desired, then no policy change is require. On the other hand, if there is dissonance present, then a policy adjustment is needed. The question now rises on what type of sociocultural environment is desired. With that being said, it is still possible to create a sociocultural goal to act as a standard to compare with media policies. Many of these standards are already incorporated into the language of American policies. For example, violence, sexual, profane, and dangerous substance contents are used as a standard in most of the industries regulatory systems. Typically these standards are a reflection of risky or illegal behavior that could be modeled by the audience. For the purpose of this article, a look at two of these common standards will be evaluated in two parts. First, an evaluation of the media content s relationship to influence the audience to conduct in a risky behavior will be reviewed, and second it s prevalence in the current media landscape will be mentioned. For the sake of relevance towards the legality of the situation, this article will look at the content of violent and sexual content in media. While many other standards can and need to be discussed, these two are the most prevalent in the current media and political conversation. How does Violence Play in Children Media? The process of measurement determines the monetary amounts at which the elements of the financial statements are to be recorded and carried in the financials book. They help to determine whether a business is regarded as a failure or a success, whether its employees earn a bonus, whether they keep their jobs, what dividends investors receive, and how much tax the business pays. In the context of measurement, the aspiration expressed by Sir David Tweedie, the Chairman of the IASB, is an appealing one: The real objective is to have one single set of accounting standards, so it doesn t matter whether a transaction takes place in any part of the world, we ll account for it the same way. The significant role of Measurement First and foremost, this Report shall provide a general background on the issue of Measurement. Theorists have indicated the definition of measurement, and in the case of Campbell, Measurement is: The assignment of numerals to represent properties of material systems other than numbers, while Stevens suggests that it is: The assignment of numerals to objects or events according to rules. (Stevens, 1946) Generally, most theorists agree upon the definition of Measurement as the linking of formal number system to some properties, or objects and events under a chain of semantic rules. Comparison In Society In Fahrenheit 451 And Today s Society Comparison in societies in Fahrenheit 451 and today s society Fahrenheit 451 has a great deal of government control, technology that is advanced it is injurious to the society and the people there, and that censorship has been a terrible thing for the people. Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 reveals how the society, which is a dystopia can be detrimental with more government control, and how censorship blinds the people in the society, and how technology gets to advanced it can be a inimical thing and how it has been shown or not shown in today s society. Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopia that has too much government control, technology that is used to blind the people in the society so that nobody questions anything about what is going wrong in it. Also, the technology is advanced by a metallic hound that hunts and captures criminals. He also manages to incinerate the Mechanical Hound, but not before he is injured by it. . This one example of how the advanced technology is harming the society. The Hounds are programmed to capture or kill people who are caught violating this law. They also deceive people with fancy new technology, such as giant TVs that are installed into the wall it keeps them from questioning or think about their life and everything that goes on. This is the main reason why people do not see anything wrong with the dystopia, they are in because the government explains that the books are full of false ideas such as firefighters use to put out fires instead of ... • 6. The Influence of Religion in Phillis Wheatley s Life Essay The Influence of Religion in Phillis Wheatley s Life Phillis Wheatley overcame extreme obstacles, such as racism and sexism, to become one of the most acclaimed poets in the 18th Century. Her works are characterized by religious and moral backgrounds, which are due to the extensive education of religion she received. In this sense, her poems also fit into American Poetry. However, she differs in the way that she is a black woman whose writings tackle greater subjects while incorporating her moral standpoint. By developing her writing, she began speaking out against injustices that she faced and, consequently, gave way to authors such as Gwendolyn Brooks and Countee Cullen. Few slaves were encouraged to attend church; however, the Wheatleys attended New South Congregational Church and encouraged Phillis to embrace the Lord as they had (Mason 4). Because she was asthmatic, she attended Old South Congregational Church, which was closer to the Wheatley residence (Weidt 15). By the age of twelve, she had become quite familiar with the Bible as well as literary works of contemporary English poets. In addition, she translated works by the Latin and Greek writers Ovid and Homer, respectively (Mason 4). At this same time, after being in Boston for about four years, she began to take an interest in writing (Mason 4). Susanna supplied Phillis with paper and ink to enable her to write and even allowed Phillis to ignore her household duties to write emdash;something that was practically unheard of for a slave (Mason 5). However, Susanna was accommodating because she wanted Phillis to pursue her religious education and believed that writing would enable her to do so. Phillis fascination with writing grew, and as time passed, she became especially interested in authors that shared her religious beliefs. Her favorite writer was Alexander Pope, who was also a Christian. • 8. Platonic Ideal Let me give it a little more flesh for Daniel and Colin. To drive my point, I will seem to drift off a little first, so bear with me. Consider the Organised Mind, and I think some neuroscience can shed some light on this line thing but before that, let s consider birds forexample, according to our most recent understanding, a perfect bird (or any Platonic ideal) is a concept that exists only as a collection of neuronal connections. When I say a perfect bird , I mean the sort you might find in a children s book, or that a child would draw. A sparrow is close to a perfect bird. it flies, it s smallish, it builds nests, it has fluffy feathers... a penguin, however, is not a perfect bird (psychologically). Some people might add tenative language, like well, a penguin is *technically* a bird... and this reluctance is due to the penguin not sharing as many features of the Platonic ideal. Another example would be a whale. Many children might assume a whale to be a fish I know I did. When I first learnt otherwise, I said things like Did you know a whale is technically a mammal ? As if it shouldn t qualify to be a whole and entire mammal. But we are not born with an innate knowledge of mammal dom or bird dom. Instead, the chronology seems to go ... I would suggest that a line falls into this category. While the Televisions had the same exterior as the TV s in the 1980 s, they had an thought provoking feature in them, and this was because they were portable and had voice recognition to be able to respond to the customer with a greater efficiency. Even though the TV was primarily used for taking Marty s commands, the fact that it was moveable was quite bewildering to me as a spectator. The TV s in the movie had the identical appearance as the former boxed television s that were used in the 1980 s and had the equivalent tuning knobs built in to the bottom of the TV. Airborne Cars: The concept of transport that was presented in the movie was of flying cars which I thought was quite an unoriginal idea to most modernized movies. The flying cars seen were typically like jet aircrafts and supercars that exist today. The cars were capable of transporting people as any normal vehicle would but were portrayed to be competent to fly at extraordinary speeds. The distinct features of the flying cars were that they ... I feel that an encroachment in technology isn t regarded to be as elevated as it was in the 1980 s and other years, principally since there were more basic things that were not thought of and the fact that there s not much left but to just go forward in those views sort of renders it so that the technology won t be becoming cutting edge anytime ... Black males have been abused for hundreds of years, dating way back to slavery which began in the 1600 s. In order to achieve it, they have started to develop the yield management analysis, to understand the best time to sell the flight tickets with higher or lower prices, so, helping them to decide properly. How can airline companies improve their yield management in order to increase their profit without demand analysis? According to the OpenStax College, economists have defined the term demand as the amount of some good or service consumers are willing and able to purchase at each price . . . [and] based on needs and wants . . . [and] based on an ability to pay (2014, Demand for Goods and Services section, para. 1). Thus, is possible to consider the demand analysis as a useful tool which airline companies can adopt to fully understand the main microeconomic aspects that are being affected by the behavior of their customers and also, their final results. This paper intends to examine whether the elasticity of demand plays a role in profit maximization, whether the practice of business behavior pricing is reflected in the principles, and how price discrimination helps airline companies to reach their objective in profit maximization. The horrible things done under their rule and with their stamp of approval has made the term Nazi one of the worst possible. The amazing thing about the Nazi party is that many of the main aspects of their ideology existed in Germany even before they formed or came to power. Some of the major aspects of Nazi ideology such as antisemitism, the desire to expand the German empire, and the belief in the strength of the Aryan race existed in Germany years before Adolf Hitler was a name anyone in Germany would recognize. The most widely known aspects of Nazi ideology are their hatred of Jewish people and their tireless efforts to exterminate the entire race during their rule. This distinctly Nazi belief of antisemitism is not one that the Nazis created. It instead had existed for several thousand years throughout Germany and all of Europe. As Stackelberg and Winkle explain, The origins of the stereotype of Jews as immoral materialists can be traced to the unwillingness of Jews to give up their religion in favor of world renouncing Christianity (Stackelberg and Winkle, Anti Semitism, p. 2). This feeling of hatred towards Jews persisted for centuries, especially in countries that had a majority of Christian citizens. Additionally, catecholamines affect the frontal region of the brain, which is instrumental in short term and long term memories (King, Lloyd Holewa, 2008). This leads to poor memory and retention capacity. Acute stress tends to have a long term mental health impact that affects multiple regions. The second response mechanism towards stress is by the heart, circulatory system and the lungs (Seib et al., 2014; Wells, 2013). Uncontrolled release of metabolic signals leads to poor digestion and absorption of bear. As the concentration of bear increases, the heart beat increases to try and distribute the concentration of bear to other parts of the body, which leads to an increase in blood pressure (Seib et al., 2014; Wells, 2013). To country oxygen demand, the breathing system suddenly increases as the lungs take in as much oxygen as they possibly can to satisfy its shortage in the blood stream (Wells, 2013). On the other hand, the spleen increases discharge of white and red blood cells to ensure that more blood cells are available to transport excess oxygen throughout the circulatory system. In the 1990 s privatisation went ahead but caused disappointment in many sectors. Most privatised firms could not improve their performance and some that succeeded, had been profitable already as SOEs. But that was not the only problem the country had to face. Turkey had already begun to face significant problems regarding the Privatisation Policy in the 1990 s. These mentioned problems not only aroused from the aggregate demand concerning the SOE, and the negative effect of investment but the ongoing debate carried by the opposing political parties in the Parliament. A fatigued person has behavior similar to that of drunkenness, [under] the effects of a large dose of alcohol [1]. Many careers, which include high stress situations and strict timelines, often deprive employees of a good rest due to their working environment. An example of such would be the life of an Airline Pilot, where passenger safety, fast changing weather and inconvenient schedules prevent the Pilot from receiving enough rest. In a British study done in 2014, 86.1% of Pilots reported that they commenced a shift while fatigued and reported feeling utterly drained, very slow to think and process information [2]. Such conditions can cause a lack of judgments and more mistakes occur, which in turn leads to accidents. Airlines and government agencies have developed techniques and laws which aid the flight crew to operate while being well rested, resulting in reduced errors. [enter purpose systems] Causes and Sympoms A leading cause in fatigue in pilots is the long hours and times of commuting between flights. Especially at the entry level flying positions, as a result of the low pay, pilots cannot afford to live near major airports and are required to drive for a long period of time, which can further aggravate exhaustion. • 28. How Homeschooling Should Be Banned Resolve that homeschooling should be banned. Imagine, you are a parent and you want the best education for your child. Which do you choose, a public school, or homeschooling? The answer is blatantly obvious, and I m here to tell you why. Firstly, you have to work to provide for YOURSELF, let alone a FAMILY. It takes $10.20 per hour to provide for yourself, now let s take that times the average family size. On average, a family has 2 parents and 2.5 children, so 4.5 people. So let s multiply that by the needed hourly wage. This gets us $45.90 an hour, which is a HUGE underestimate, (which means no extra luxuries, like having your children in sports) but we should just go with this number for simplicity. $45.90 an hour isn t a devastating number, as long as you have 2 working parents. But with homeschooling one parent will have to take off A LOT of work to off educate their children. So let s assume that you have 1.4 working parents with the average hourly wage (so one full time working parent and one that has to take off SIX TENTHS of their jobs) , and keep in mind this is generous for my opponent s side of the argument. This will give us, wait for it... only 23.39! This isn t even close to provide for a family, in fact that s only enough to provide for the parents! And yes, I do realize that this won t be a problem to all families. Some will be able to afford this with ease. Also this isn t a reason it should be banned, but rather a hindrance to a majority of families. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. My Favorite Theory Of Mythology Myths have been a part of human lives for as long as time goes back. They tell stories, explain how things came to be, and have formed the base of many cultures throughout human history. The most difficult thing modern people come across when reading a myth is interpreting it. For this reason, I will explain my favorite theory of mythology and talk a little bit about the other theories. There are four theories of mythology; the rational theory, functional theory, structural theory, and psychological theory. Of these four theories, I feel the psychological theory is the most effective and correct way to interpret myths. To show why I believe this I will explain the psychological theory and show how it is effective across many different myths. The psychological theory looks at myths through the human mind and subconscious. People who interpret myths using this theory attempt to connect ideas in peoples subconscious to themes seen in myths. This theory came about in the 19th century when the science of psychology was expanding along with the discovery of more myths. The paired growth of these two things made the psychological approach inevitable and the two big names that contributed most are, Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung. In Freud s book Totem and Taboo he states his discovery of the human Oedipus complex. This essential prolongs her and Darcy being together. When she finds out Darcy paid off the officer Lydia eloped with, Elizabeth finally matures. She comes to the understanding that Darcy has only good intentions and that he truly does love her. He is not the man she thought he was. Darcy also grows throughout the novel. At the beginning he states, I am in no humour at present to give consequence to young ladies who are slighted by other men. (Austen 7). Darcy s love for Elizabeth builds rapidly causing him to mature and stop being selfish. By the end he is able to set aside is old beliefs and allows himself to be truly happy. Pride is a virtue that can sometimes be too powerful Although the entire book is based on love and marriage, Pride and Prejudice is classified as a realistic novel, rather than a romantic one. This novel is written in the third person, making it easier for readers to relate to character s feelings. Realism is a technique Austen uses that pays attention to detail. How To Prevent A Diaphragm Opening: A diaphragm is a flexible silicone cup specially designed to be inserted in to the vagina to cover the cervix before sex in order to keep sperm away from eggs. This is a popular method of contraception. Body: To gain the most effectiveness with diaphragm, a little spermicide cream will be put inside the cup and around the rim. Before inserting the diaphragm, make sure you clean your hands thoroughly. You can stand or sit, as long as you are comfortable. Separate your vulva lips, then fold the diaphragm in half with your index finger in the fold, and push it up inside your vagina. The diaphragn is supposed to cover the opening of your uterus, with the edge tucked behind your public bone. You have to leave the diaphragm in at least 6 hours after intercourse. If it is in place, you can have sex more than once, but you should reapply spermicide for maximum contraceptive effect. However, the diaphragm needs to be removed after 24 hours. • 38. Romanticism And Realism In Twain s The Adventures Of Tom... Twain s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer satirizes the quixotism of individuals, expressive of the American people s pragmatic mentality toward life during the wake of the Realism movement of the nineteenth century. Following the Civil War, which ended in 1865, the Realism movement prompted artists to depict an accurate portrayal of society, which at the time, was in a state of havoc. In fact, it was a reaction to the Romantic movement that preceded it, which emphasized the importance of imagination. Twain s intentional narrative voice in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer enhances the novel by exposing and mocking the fraudulent nature of individuals, derived from the unrealistic expectations that are most commonly influenced by Romantic ideals. In fact, the term quixotism derives from Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra s Don Quixote where the principle figure dreams up an ideal world where he is the hero. Twain s characterizations reflect these views by depicting flaws such as the extreme focus on one s influence to the rest of society, reminiscent of the Romantic maxims of importance of oneself and individuality. In addition, Twain s satirical and blunt tone further enhance the novel by expressing the dissatisfaction with institutions, such as the Church. Lastly, he shows an impertinent attitude toward death, an object often glorified in romantic literature. • 42. Is The Three To-One Blend Of Methylchloro Isothiazolinone CMIT/MIT: The three to one blend of methylchloro isothiazolinone (CMIT) and methylisothiazolinone (MIT) is commonly used as a biocide in polymer dispersions. CMIT/MIT is a broad spectrum biocide that works between 3 9 pH. The mode of action for the CMIT/MIT is that it reacts with the cell proteins causing the inhibition of respiration and ATP synthesis (PCIMAG). Isothiazolones first mechanism which is performed in minutes is the swift inhibition of growth and metabolism. This is then tailed by loss of viability due to irreversible cell damage which happens in a matter of hours. Inhibition occurs by disrupting the metabolic pathways involving dehydrogenase enzymes. Microbes are quickly inhibited due to the inhibition of critical physiological functions including growth, respiration, and energy generation (adenosine triphosphate synthesis). Cell death results in the destruction of protein thiols and production of free radicals. Compounds such as surfactants can enhance and speed up the rate of inhibition and death. (Williams, 2007) The interaction of isothiazolone biocides with microbial cells proceeds via several sequential reactions. Initially, a biocide molecule reacts with a thiol group to form a disulphide linkage with the biocide. This structure then interacts with a second thiol group to establish a new disulphide linkage. Following this, the cell releases the biocide as a mercaptoacrylamide. The mercaptoacrylamide derivative of CMIT tautomerizes to a thioacyl chloride under physiological conditions. The thioacyl chloride is highly reactive and proceeds to interact with other cell macromolecules. The ability of CMIT to degrade to a thioacyl chloride might account for it s much greater antimicrobial activity when compared to BIT or MIT. (Daniel, 1997) Barman did a study on the first order rate constant and half life values for the degradation of MIT (Kathon 886 MW) and a MIT/CMIT (Kathon MWC) Mixture. These consist of 2 methyl 4 isothiazolin 3 one and its chlorinated counterpart, 5 chloro 2 methyl 4 isothiazolin 3 one. At 100 fold more effective, the chlorinated counterpart is considered to be the active and require concentrations 100 fold less than MIT. In fact, at very low concentrations of just 2 20 ppm ... The house has each and every technical tool that it needs to function, yet, it does not have the love of its owners any longer. Along with personification, Bradbury uses the rhetorical mode of pathos to demonstrate how the house continues to carry out its daily functions even though the surrounding society has suffered. An example of how Bradbury attempts to capture the reader s emotional psyche is, In the nursery the jungle burned. Blue lions roared, purple giraffes bounded off....Ten more voices died... .
