Future Mobile Applications Demand Novel Wireless...
Future mobile applications demand novel wireless communication technologies due to new challenges
as sociated with the shortage of spectrums, low power radio architectures, and communication
security. For example, though mmWave can fulfill some of the spectrum demands, it can still struggle
to meet the growing demands for higher data connectivity over a myriad of devices, e.g., Internet of
Things (IoT) []. Therefore, more bands in the electromagnetic domains will be needed. Besides, in
current and future wearable devices, battery lifetime is the critical design constraint that limits the
sensor performance and data throughput []. In addition, security in wireless communication is another
significant challenge since future mobile devices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a longer range is demanded, the power consumption of the UWB transceiver increases
dramatically. Since RF trans mission follows the inverse square law that the power density is
proportional to the inverse square of the distance. In practice, when considering obstacles, multipath
and fading, which is a big problem of impulse radio, the scenario can be even worse. In other words,
increasing RF transmission distance will cost lots of power of RF devices, and shorten their battery
lifetime. This power bandwidth trade off of UWB can be alleviated by taking advantage of optical
wireless communications, which offers huge unlicensed bandwidth, high spatial re use capability, and
low co channel interference. Therefore, by creating a UWB/Optical relay, the communication range of
a UWB terminal can be extended without interfering other communications. On the other hand,
optical communication has a shortcoming of directivity, so handling mobility is more challenging in
optical systems than RF systems. This weakness can be overcome by using UWB as radio terminals
since impulse radio has less directional constraints. Moreover, since optical signals
One application example of the proposed system is illustrated in Fig. 1 (b). In this scenario, multiple
mobile sensors distributed over a geographical area need to transmit data to a remote destination node.

process the compound. 5. The sample was scanned 16 times then a graph was displayed, depicting
absorbance vs. wavenumbers. 6. The graph axis was changed to % Transmittance vs. Wavenumbers. 7.
The desired peaks were under a value displaying line and the graph, with the values, were printed. 8.
Second, the students set up a solid compound of benzoic acid. 9. A bolt with two screws were taken
and one screw was fixed into the bolt. 10. Then, a 5:1 concentration ratio of carboxylic acid to
potassium bromide powder was placed into the bolt until the area of the screw, already in the bolt, was
covered. 11. The bolt was tapped to evenly cover the area. 12. Another screw was fixed into the bolt

First Day In High School Essay
On the first day of school I was a mess. I didn t sleep well the night prior so I was running on
approximately two and a half hours of sleep. The limited bit of sleep I achieve entailed vivid dreams
of me dying in two different situations while at the high school. The first time I died due to a glass
object being broken in the science room and I was being stabbed to death. In the second dream I fell
from the top floor to the basement because a junior pushed me over the railing in their rush to arrive at
class on time. Given the fact I had such low standards, the first day was not horrible. I miss having the
blissful first week of school that we had in middle and elementary school. It was also kind of nice
having friends in some of my classes. For me personally everything went downhill on day three. That
was the day we started going over our summer assignment for math with Professor Snape. Professor
Snape s class consists of calling on his students the entire time! Once he started calling on people I
became nervous. I knew I was bound to be called on at some point. The first time he called on me I
already had the answer written down so I did not mind as much. I said c: as loudly as I could, which
honestly was not much louder than a whisper. The second time I did not have the answer and I
panicked. I could not even speak I was so scared. I ended up being called on a third time and I had the
same reaction. My other classes are great though, Professor Flitwick is boring, but

Grief, Loss, And Loss

Grief, Loss, and Everything Josh Kos would Floss (this is not the actual title)
Grief and loss are some of the most defining characteristics of the human experience. Therefore,
dealing with grief and loss is one of the most important things humans must learn. While there are
many approaches, Jennifer Kent uses her film The Babadook to suggest that suppression is not a
healthy way to deal with grief. By thoughtfully planning the mise en scene, soundtrack, and narrative
storytelling, Kent teaches viewers that suppression causes the inner monster to come out in all of us,
just as it did to Amelia in The Babadook.
In The Babadook, suppression of grief is at the root of all of Amelia s personal problems. Suppressing
her grief resulted in her becoming isolated from everyone around her, from her co worker Robby, her
sister Claire, to even her son Sam. Because she was so wrapped up in suppressing memories of her
husband, Amelia lost touch with the living world, and is left in an awkward limbo between her past
and her present. Once the Babadook is unleashed, suppression of grief leads to paranoia for Amelia.
As she continues to have visions, Amelia is trapped in a different limbo between reality and inside her
mind, and as she continues to suppress her grief, her situation becomes progressively worse.
Amelia s house and the tree across the street from Amelia s house are important motifs throughout The
Babadook. However, while trees and

Patient Care Case Study
Advocacy issue
Dialysis clinics like DaVita and Fresenius, being the two largest for profit corporations are fighting
against a proposed Senate Bill No.349 (SB 349, 2017) that would necessitate dialysis clinics in
California to have a mandated minimum staffing requirement. Furthermore, SB 349 (2017), as
authored by Senator Ricardo Lara, would also require that dialysis clinics to provide patients with
forty five (45) minute transition time, and frequent inspection be done yearly instead of every five to
six years (SB 349, 2017). With this regulation in place, patients will be provided with a higher level of
care. The mandated staffing ratios would also help promote patient safety. Furthermore, with greater

On the contrary, according to Yoder, et al (2013), higher RN per patient have been associated with
improved patient outcomes in acute care facilities , which, if applied to chronic dialysis clinics could
also result in positive patient outcomes. In addition, section 1.e of the legislation pointed out that
worker safety is also enhanced by higher ratios of caregiving staff to patients and transition time
between patients, including by reducing the risk of injury on the job (SB 349, 2017).
However, a regulation like this cannot be without opposition from large for profit corporations and
other interested parties. In fact, The California Dialysis Council legislative office mentioned in the
article Opposition to Mandated Staffing Ratios in Dialysis Clinics SB 349 that mandated ratios will do
patients more harm than good (Foy, K. Arnold, M., 2017). Furthermore, Foy and Arnold (2017) also
stated that the mandated ratios will result in increased cost, leading to facility closures, and limited
patient access to treatment (Foy Arnold, 2013).
However, SB 349 (2017) aims to regulate facilities so they could provide better patient care and
prolong the lives of those who are dependent on life saving measures like dialysis. Patients deserve
better treatment and should not be counted as numbers or costs. Facilities are not inspected as

Symptoms And Severity Of A Knee Ligament
Miller (2015) depicts that the symptoms and severity of a knee ligament sprain relies on upon the level
of stretching or tearing of the ligament. In his study he has included 3 grades of knee ligament sprain.
1) In a mild grade 1: knee ligament sprain, the ligaments may extend but they don t actually tear. The
joint cannot swell or hurt very much. It can increase the risk of injury again.
2) With a moderate evaluation II sprain: Bruising and swelling are most common sign. Ligaments get
partially torn and more painful.
3) With a severe grade III sprain: A ligament tears totally, bleeding under the skin, and swelling. Thus,
the joint become unstable and not able to bear weight. In grade 3 sprain, all pain fibers are torn so
there is no pain at the time of the injury.
Medial collateral ligament and anterior cruciate ligament injuries are most common in Soccer players.
Management:
Mangine et al (2015) in Management of the Patient with an ACL/MCL injured knee He has
established a treatment plan based on type of ligament injuries. 1) Medial or lateral meniscus tear 2)
Degree of MCL tear and ACL tear 3) Capsular damage and chrondral surface injury. The period of
time between injury and surgery depend on tissue included and severity of the injury.
1) Grade1 MCL: ACL surgeries with or without damage to meniscus within 1 week. No pre surgery
movement restriction.
2) Grade 2 MCL: ACL surgeries with or

Portrait of Blood The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William...
What does one think when the word blood is said? Death? Betrayal? Sadness? Blood is a prime
example of imagery. Imagery paints a picture within the readers minds and puts them in the same
situation that the sentence is portraying. Having imagery in a work, makes a reader more into the piece
and involved. In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, blood is a device most often
symbolizing betrayal by the conspirators, the death of Julius Caesar, and foreshadowing the upcoming
events through Mark Antony s eyes.
Julius Caesar s death came about by the betrayal of the conspirators. Brutus was one of Caesar s
closest friends, but his dagger was the last to break through Caesar s cloak. The commoners and
Antony were shocked to see the whole scene as the conspirators stream forth thy blood from Caesar.
(III, i, 201) This image allows the reader to really visualize how Caesar actually died in the hands of
the other conspirators. Mark Antony felt betrayed by not just Brutus, but all of the conspirators. He
was devastated, but managed to stay dignified by shaking the bloody fingers of thy foes . (III, i, 198)
The image of blood on each of the hands of the conspirators resulted in Caesar dying by betrayal.
Blood and betrayal make the reader think that it would lead Mark Antony s actions to reflect those of
the conspirators, but he perseveres and just asks for one chance to speak at Julius funeral. Betrayal by
one person can lead to the leadership of another.

Why Do People Respond To Fitting In
The problem with society is there is people who try to fit in and meet up to anyone and everyone s
interest/expectations but fortunately there is still people who are themselves and don t care what others
think as long as they re being who they desire to be and are happy. Things took place in high school
and we all know how high school is in terms of fitting in, Bianca in the movie tries to fit in with
everyone and do what everyone else is doing even If that maybe means doing things she doesn t even
care for, Katherine has been through the stage of trying to be like others to fit in and is the opposite of
Bianca, she wants to do whatever everyone isn t doing, or just not what everyone is doing at least
because she doesn t care about fitting in. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel like if I was like that, I d feel uncomfortable and I don t see how you d feel content or enjoy
yourself ever. I think Bianca trying to fit in says that she isn t that emotionally stable because if people
didn t like the person she was, obviously she has experienced that or is in fear of that for her to care so
much about fitting in, otherwise I think she could be insecure and so she feels the need to do what
others that are getting noticed are doing in order to feel accepted/feel better about herself maybe. In 10
things I hate about you, I loved when Cameron (Lucentio) tells Bianca, Just because you re beautiful
doesn t mean you can treat people like they don t matter. Katherine actually states in the movie, I don t
like to do what people expect. Why should I live up to other people s expectations instead of my own?
Which of course makes perfect sense. So I feel Katherine would be considered strong or emotionally
stable , especially compared to Bianca anyway. And Katherine clearly cares about her
health/happiness as well and is open minded which is a very good thing to be in

Third Party Logistics Providers
Dr. Janice Spangenberg
April 10, 2016
Introduction Blanchard (2006) defined third party logistics as, A single entity that coordinates all the
logistics requirements for a given company/agency. Today s world business environment has become
so competitive that companies in order to be successful in the market must deal with different
resources for satisfying their customer need. In the past decade or so the competitive global market
has made a big influence in the growing for external business. Third party logistics providers are more
and more employing external companies for inventory management, transportation, warehousing, and
other value added activities for customer services. Third party logistics ultimate goal is to provide a
competitive advantage to the organization for which they are serving. According to Cardinal Logistics
(2012), Third Party Logistics is an effective way to reduce operational costs, and allow a company to
focus on their core competencies.
Overview of Third Party Logistics Between the year of 1970 and 1980 it was recognizes as the first

Negative Impact Of Video Games
Video games can sometimes get a bad reputation but due to contrary belief, video games have been a

Esports, video game companies, and the cognitive benefits for adults and children video games are
here to stay. So how have they affected today s society in a positive way?
If you don t know, esports are multiplayer video games played competitively for spectators, typically
by professional gamers. It is broadcast worldwide similar to any major sports competition. The esports
industry has grown significantly in the past few years. In comparison, the national league of legends
competition has 27 million viewers. Based on an article by Ben Casselman on ESPN, in 2014 this was
the second most watched event on ESPN in 2014. Video games are growing fast. Also in 2014, the
video game industry alone added $6.2 billion to the U.S. Economy, providing approximately 146,000
jobs. The culture of eSports is like nothing else. eSports provides a community for people who don t
have one, or maybe sit on their computers and play video games all day. eSports has turned a
community of nerds into something people are actually taking seriously. eSports and the video game

The True Face of Unethical Humor
Following Chaucer s description of the Miller in the General Prologue, The Miller s Tale reveals that
the Miller is more complex than his appearance initially suggests. Given its bawdy and humorous
nature, the Miller s story consists of events of cuckoldry, foolishness, and secrets (1720, 1718, and
1719). As the teller of such a tale, the Miller would immediately be classified as a crude man,
interested only in the physical appeal of women. However, as the tale unfolds, it imparts the Miller s
unexpected empathy as he commiserates with Alison, who is trapped by the norms of society. The
Miller s story portrays not only the Miller s expected vulgar and deceptive characteristics but also his
surprisingly sympathetic nature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Miller displays complete apathy for the norms of society through his satire of the metaphysical
Knight and clergyman. Furthermore, the Miller s bawdy nature progressively worsens as he initially
begins with his songs of prostitution and later describes a woman s private areas, an action of
atrocious audacity and low thinking, but he asserts is noble (1718). Thus, in his bawdy rebellion, the
Miller solely focuses on his lewd tale, disregarding the norms of society. The Miller s deceptive
qualities influence the characters actions in his story. During his pilgrimage with the Miller, Chaucer
discovers the habits of the golden thumb Miller and describes him as a fox (1712). The Miller would
cheat people by steal[ing] corn and charg[ing] for it three times (1712). The Miller s characters also
use guile as frequently as the Miller does. In their affair, both Nicholas and Alison devise a plan to
trick the jealous John. While speaking to John alone, Nicholas warns him of a flood to come and states
he must not waste words on the wise; however, Nicholas tricks the so called wise carpenter and has
intercourse with John s wife after John falls asleep (1727). Furthermore, Absolom begs for a kiss from
Alison, but she beard[s] him, another instance of bawdy deceit (1730). Thus, the Miller s disposition
of treachery propels his characters in their misdemeanors, exemplifying his immoral nature; however,
every apple on the tree is not rotten.

Descriptive Essay On Ardmore
Ardmore is centrally located between two major cities, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Dallas, Texas.
Because of the convenient and centralized location, Ardmore has and will continue to grow in great
numbers. Along with the growing population, come the growth in crime rates, drug use, and the
number of homeless individuals you see in the downtown streets. These growing factors have seemed
to mold the citizens of Ardmore vulnerable and almost as fragile as glass. For this reason, I would
choose one of Dale Chihuly s glass chandeliers or towns to display publicly. Dale Chihuly is a glass

The convention center is easily accessible, located right off of Interstate thirty five. The convention
can be accessed by the public and easily found by those from other areas. A glass sculpture by Dale
Chihuly would be the perfect way to help tell the story of Ardmore s past, which has been known for
its crime in its early years, and would tell the story of Ardmore s present state of fragility and
vulnerability. Art has the power to tell a story, whether it is a story of success and happiness, or one of
sadness and despair. Although Ardmore is growing in many negative aspects, a beautiful sculpture
such as Dale Chihuly s glass art would have the ability to represent the southern town well and so that
even those that are not interested in the art would be

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Atomic Era By William Faulkner
The Atomic Era, spanning from 1945 through the 1960s, was a source of immense concern and fear
that faced both Americans and the entire world. During this tumultuous time in history, past
abominations such as the Depression and two deadly World Wars haunted Americans, while the Cold
War loomed as an imminent threat. Due to such prolonged suffering, the human spirit holding people
together the world over had fallen apart at the seams. Upon receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature in
1950, William Faulkner delivered an acceptance speech in which he applies balanced sentences,
meaningful repetition, and potent hyperbole in order to call aspiring writers to abandon their fears and
encourage them to create work that will aid the world in midst of the current, volatile Atomic Age.
William Faulkner incorporates balanced sentence structure throughout his speech to draw connections
between the writer and their role within humanity. Faulkner begins his speech by addressing all
aspiring writers and linking himself to them. He states that these writers are already dedicated to the
same anguish and travail, among whom is already that one who will someday stand here where I am
standing. Faulkner immediately establishes a hopeful tone regarding the future of writers, writers who,
like Faulkner, understand that good writing requires the hard work of self sacrifice. Later on, when
discussing the work of authors who disregard the universal truths of writing, Faulkner once again
employs a balanced sentence. He claims such works are of defeats in which nobody loses anything of
value, of victories without hope and, worst of all, without pity or compassion . Defeat and victory
juxtaposed blurs the lines between the two and emphasizes the lack of meaning found within the
works of authors unwilling to share the problems of the human heart. The parallelism of victories
without hope, pity, and compassion marks any author s work lacking these essential elements as
destitute. Faulkner closes his speech with a final balanced statement, The poet s voice need not merely
be the record of man, it can be one of the props, the pillars to help him endure and prevail. Faulkner
expounds his central message that our writings must be the

illustrate this discrimination, Keegan, Poindexter, and Whipp addressed the membership requirements
for Academy voters. Their article states that changing the dominantly white, male voting population
was impossible to reach because of the academy s stringent membership requirements and the
underrepresentation of women and minorities in the entertainment industry (Keegan, Poindexter,
Whipp, 2). This same article had a quote from New York critic Andrew Gruttadaro who said that no
black people deserved a nomination. (Keegan, Poindexter Whipp, 2). Gruttadaro openly excluded
black actors because of their acting skills. Because the film industry is comprised of white males, it is
not a surprise to see individuals of their same race dominating the nominations. Actors and actresses
are not the only ones where this discrimination is

Pt1420 Unit 6 Paper
Before a participation process can be designed and implemented, one must determine if there is a
problem to begin with. I would argue the need for judgment links to tyranny. The person setting the
table for a potential process has control over how the problem is framed and if there is a problem to
begin with. Perhaps the public needs to be involved in even the planning process of the process itself?
Could this look like a group of stakeholders? If the goal is to create a horizontal, people controlled
system of decision making? A compromise that deals with the challenge articulated above is some
form of power devolution. It s not an invitation to have too many cooks in the kitchen ; rather
devolution promotes the decentralization of power and decision making. The creation of public action
unites in neighborhoods or delineated ecosystems habits addresses the need to get the public involved
and may increase the perceived legitimacy and hope that the community could actually effect change.
All of this exists within the context of the state and under guidelines to support accountability. ...

Aristotle Virtue
Virtues dictate all systems of human morality. Aristotle s interpretation of virtue is found in Book II of
the Nicomachean Ethics, the man who possesses character excellence does the right thing, at the right
time, and in the right way. While this holds true, it leads to an ambiguous interpretation. Aristotle
understood virtue as a set of character traits that, once developed, will lead to an overall good
character. Core virtues such as respect, loyalty, and honesty make up the foundation of the virtue
theory of ethical thinking. By living an ethical life, a person must demonstrate moral character traits. A
virtuous person lives his life in a sweet spot called the golden mean of the two extremes of excess and
deficiency. Actions dictated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Captain Marty was a well known daredevil skier, who on multiple recorded incidents had flown other
Concord flights overweight. Flight 4590 was attempting to fly with 1790 pounds over maximum
structural weight, this was unlawful, but was not an outrageous risk. However, this added weight
caused the centre of gravity of the plane to be pushed dangerously far to the rear. This change in the
centre of gravity made the plane more likely to stall at lower speeds. It was also proven that even in a
takeoff with all four engines working normally, they were well beyond the point where the testing and
models had deemed safe. Additionally, as the fuel gushed from the hole in the forward number five

The Importance of Securing Sensitive Items Essay example
Sensitive items are anything that is considered classified or a mission essential item. These items can

The first priority for a first responding officer(s) is safety that there is no threat to the officer or
citizens at the scene. Once the scene is secured, investigators and forensics personal can process the
scene. Once forensics personal is notified this is called called out . They should record the date and
time of the call out they receive. Once at the crime scene they get a briefing about the incident.
Forensic technician should record arrival time, and time briefing is over. Should also document the
names and identification numbers of all personal present. Ask if any fragile evidence or area of the
scene has been disturbed is important. Tracked blood, shoe or tire impressions from first responder s
activity. Start processing scene. Initial search for evidence is a search conducted by the forensic

Difference Between School Spirit And School Pride
School Spirit and School Pride Cheerleading is a time to represent your school spirit and pride. Ever
since grade school I was a cheerleader. I continued to cheer in middle school and up to junior year in
High School, for a total of six years. I started off with pop warner cheer then junior varsity cheer and
ended with varsity cheer in high school. When you cheer you get to get the crowd involved in the
game, you make new friends and you also get to compete in competitive cheer at competitions.
Cheerleading was a great part of my life and it is an experience I will always treasure. It has taught me
that practice builds stamina, competition proves your teams point and it builds the understanding of
why teamwork is important.

Analysis Of Michael Jackson s The Rock Band Nirvana s...
In 1992, Michael Jackson s Dangerous fell from the number one spot on the Billboard music charts,
replaced by grunge rock band Nirvana s sophomore album, Nevermind, bringing alternative rock to
mainstream and commercial success. Nirvana had started out in Seattle s underground music scene
and consisted of lead singer and songwriter Kurt Cobain, bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Dave
Grohl. Their sound was a subgenre of alternative rock known as grunge, a combination of punk rock
and heavy metal characterized by heavy feedback and nihilistic lyrics. Their first album, Bleach, was
released under independent label Sub pop and found moderate success in the underground punk scene,
but it was not until they were bought out by major label DCG Records that Nirvana was able to reach
commercial success. This was significant for two reasons; one, it introduced a completely different
sound of music to the mainstream audience and two, the songs were written by and represented
Generation X. For these very reasons, Nevermind was able to reach the top of the music charts. Before
Nevermind, mainstream music was largely controlled by old, baby boomer (those born after World
War II to about 1965) music executives. This resulted in music that Generation X (those that were
born after the baby boomers) could not relate to. Not only was Nevermind written by Generation Xers,
it also perfectly captured the feelings of Generation X: angry disillusionment with older generations.

The Testament Of Isaiah And Isaiah
Throughout the Old Testament God carried out his plan to bring His people back to Him. Often the
people of Israel would fall away from their relationship with God by worshipping false Idols such as
Baal or by disobeying His commands in general. One of the main ways God got his message of
redemption to His people was via prophets, spiritually gifted individuals that God lifted up to
communicate His will to the people of Israel. The prophets Jeremiah and Isaiah often were used to call
Israel out on their wickedness, and to warn then of God s coming judgement that would teach them a
lesson. It is clear from what the prophets wrote, that God very much intended to wipe the sins of the
nation s away, one way or another. This is a message that still very much applies today, Isaiah and
Jeremiah were meant to steer God s people back to Him and their messages with Christians today are
supposed to do the same. Judah and Israel in their time were constantly full of sins and needing to be
cleansed. In the beginning of Isaiah, he opens by stating that they were a sinful nation, A people laden
with iniquity, A brood of evildoers, Children who are corrupters! They have forsaken the lord. (Isaiah
1:4, New King James Version). The sins of Judah and Israel were many and that is why God sent the
prophets with the message they gave. In attempt to warn the people that disobeying God s
commandments would lead to harsh punishment. It is apparent that God did respond to the sins
harshly. In

Transatlantic Airlines report Essay
Executive summary
We have analyzed the existing booking policy of TransAtlantic Airlines and identified potential cost
saving.
The implementation of the suggested new booking policy would lead to reduction of total expected
costs per flight on average by £8,100.
Furthermore, the new policy would increase the predictability of total costs per flight. With 90%
confidence new costs will be in a range £750 and £4,800 as compared to the current range of £1,900 to
£20,300. The comparative description of the policies is presented in table 1.

Quick look at the summary table helps us identify that the proposed quick fix is the least value
destructing policy out of three policies. It has the lowest mean of total costs, the lowest probability of
exceeding £10,000 as well as the narrowest range of the cost.
To be more assured, we have additionally conducted probability dominance analysis (figure 2), which
tells that both current and quick fix policy have deterministic dominance (always better) then no
overbooking policy (green line). Whereas the quick fix (blue line) has stochastic dominance over
currently employed policy (red line). The outcome of current policy maybe occasionally better than
our proposed solution, but in the majority of cases the quick fix policy will be better.

Policy optimization
In order to identify the optimal booking policy we have conducted simulation with 40 different
booking levels for business and economy. As these two variables are independent, we have conducted
consequential analysis. Results for business class level booking are in (figure 3). The detailed
information about tested values is in Appendix B.

We have observed that the lowest expected value of total costs is achieved at 427 and 133 accepted
reservations for economy and business respectively. The comparison of current policy against new

Hollywood Production Code Essay
The film history of Hollywood is an extremely intriguing and intense. The film industry flourished in
the 1890s, when motion picture cameras were invented and film production companies started to be
established. It is fascinating how short films displayed in nickelodeons soon developed into feature
films shown in luxurious movie palaces across the country. Technology was improving at a fast rate
and later on new film techniques such as artificial lighting, fire effects and enhanced movie sets were
introduced. Films, and Hollywood
itself, were distinctly and permanently changed by the technology and innovation
presented amid this time. For example, one of the developments that changed Hollywood forever is
sound. Silent films vanished as soon as films with sound, better known as talkies were created.
Furthermore, around this same time period, individuals possessed immense moral shifts powered by
religious groups during the Great Depression, which resulted in decisions that created a new
revolution that dealt particularly with the regulation of content of films. Consequently, in 1934, at the
same time that the Golden Age of Hollywood began, the Hollywood Production code was formally
implemented. Relatively few individuals are knowledgeable about the process and story encompassing
the code. However, the analysis of the Pre Code film Baby face can be a valuable tool on the
comprehension of the Production Code s direct impact on Hollywood and the reverberations that can

Government: this word is used to define the system that maintains the state and her people. This
system is run by officials who, hopefully, have the nation s best interest at heart; but these best
interests for a country often find themselves conflicting in their particular perspectives. In the novel
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, the government has chosen to preserve the interest of state and
this dystopia is the result of mankind choosing the wrong faction in the conflict of interest. To clarify,
the principles, theories and arguments presented here in are democratic in orientation and not

This is quite possibly the biggest flaw in Huxley s Brave New World: mankind now controls and
predestines the people that inhabit their world, and the price for this control has become progress. A
society built on the basis of Community, Identity, Stability will never be able to face the ever
changing, fickle nature of humanity. In order to preserve control they must therefore eliminate
evolution. They have stolen evolution s format: the world and mankind will forever be stuck in the
small cage of Brave New World, and in essence this eliminates anything that is truly either brave or
new.
In conclusion, it is safe to say that Huxley s utopia went about achieving its status in the wrong way.
Mankind has lost its free will to the controlling powers of a system. This system cannot be called
government, as it is more akin in characteristics to slavery. Man no longer has freewill and order is
kept not through respect and intellect, but via degeneration and conduct. The former sections of this
essay present strategies and techniques used to maintain order in a society of individuals. Finally, it
may be argued that the Brave New World protects society by locking them in a cage of ignorance;
however, this is at the cost of freedom, and this is unacceptable. Mankind needs be free in order to
progress as has been explained. Protection is all well and good but not at the cost of

Effects of Meditation on the Brain
Mindful Meditation and the Brain
Some view meditation as new age, hippie nonsense because it is not a social norm to sit in silence and
dig beneath the surface of the mind. Others liken it to tuning an instrument before playing it. I
subscribe to the latter; nonetheless, meditation is an ancient practice that can be traced back 2,500
years. However, neuroscientists are just now beginning to measure the effects that it has on the brain.
While there are many types of meditation, they all have the same function; reaching an internal state
of consciousness in which one is attending to a specific focal point. The content of this paper will be
predominantly about mindful meditation and how it positively affects the brain. The process of

All meditators performed better than the control in their ability to detect stimuli indicating that both
groups developed a heightened attention as a result of their practice. Results also showed that mindful
meditators were significantly better at detecting unexpected stimuli, compared to the concentration
group (Valentine, 1999).
Another study was done during a three month silent retreat to see if mindful meditation can increase
the ability to identify both stimuli in rapid succession, essentially reducing the trend known as
attentional blink (Slagter, 2007) As cited by Slagter, attentional blink refers to an inability to perceive
a second target in rapid sequential visual presentation of stimuli, if a first target was detected within a
brief window of time, (500 milliseconds) preceding the second target (Shapiro, 1997). Research
indicated that meditators showed less of an attentional blink response than non meditators after the
three month retreat. Electroencephalography (EEG) signals revealed that the individuals that
performed the best on the attentional blink task also exhibited the least amount of brain activity at the
start of the first stimulus. This implies that those individuals were able to allocate their attentional
resources evenly which is in co ordinance with their hypothesis that mindful meditation reduces
attentional blink.

that after they died they would go to the afterlife. Which was referred to as The Field of Reeds. Which

organs except for the heart. They then would stuff the body with preservatives. The stomach, lungs,
intestines and liver were all embalmed separately with the brain being discarded. The embalmers

  • 2. Future Mobile Applications Demand Novel Wireless... Future mobile applications demand novel wireless communication technologies due to new challenges as sociated with the shortage of spectrums, low power radio architectures, and communication security. For example, though mmWave can fulfill some of the spectrum demands, it can still struggle to meet the growing demands for higher data connectivity over a myriad of devices, e.g., Internet of Things (IoT) []. Therefore, more bands in the electromagnetic domains will be needed. Besides, in current and future wearable devices, battery lifetime is the critical design constraint that limits the sensor performance and data throughput []. In addition, security in wireless communication is another significant challenge since future mobile devices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When a longer range is demanded, the power consumption of the UWB transceiver increases dramatically. Since RF trans mission follows the inverse square law that the power density is proportional to the inverse square of the distance. In practice, when considering obstacles, multipath and fading, which is a big problem of impulse radio, the scenario can be even worse. In other words, increasing RF transmission distance will cost lots of power of RF devices, and shorten their battery lifetime. This power bandwidth trade off of UWB can be alleviated by taking advantage of optical wireless communications, which offers huge unlicensed bandwidth, high spatial re use capability, and low co channel interference. Therefore, by creating a UWB/Optical relay, the communication range of a UWB terminal can be extended without interfering other communications. On the other hand, optical communication has a shortcoming of directivity, so handling mobility is more challenging in optical systems than RF systems. This weakness can be overcome by using UWB as radio terminals since impulse radio has less directional constraints. Moreover, since optical signals One application example of the proposed system is illustrated in Fig. 1 (b). In this scenario, multiple mobile sensors distributed over a geographical area need to transmit data to a remote destination node. Here ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. First Day In High School Essay On the first day of school I was a mess. I didn t sleep well the night prior so I was running on approximately two and a half hours of sleep. The limited bit of sleep I achieve entailed vivid dreams of me dying in two different situations while at the high school. The first time I died due to a glass object being broken in the science room and I was being stabbed to death. In the second dream I fell from the top floor to the basement because a junior pushed me over the railing in their rush to arrive at class on time. Given the fact I had such low standards, the first day was not horrible. I miss having the blissful first week of school that we had in middle and elementary school. It was also kind of nice having friends in some of my classes. For me personally everything went downhill on day three. That was the day we started going over our summer assignment for math with Professor Snape. Professor Snape s class consists of calling on his students the entire time! Once he started calling on people I became nervous. I knew I was bound to be called on at some point. The first time he called on me I already had the answer written down so I did not mind as much. I said c: as loudly as I could, which honestly was not much louder than a whisper. The second time I did not have the answer and I panicked. I could not even speak I was so scared. I ended up being called on a third time and I had the same reaction. My other classes are great though, Professor Flitwick is boring, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Grief, Loss, And Loss Jaehun Lee D Block, Film Studies 10/16/16 Grief, Loss, and Everything Josh Kos would Floss (this is not the actual title) Grief and loss are some of the most defining characteristics of the human experience. Therefore, dealing with grief and loss is one of the most important things humans must learn. While there are many approaches, Jennifer Kent uses her film The Babadook to suggest that suppression is not a healthy way to deal with grief. By thoughtfully planning the mise en scene, soundtrack, and narrative storytelling, Kent teaches viewers that suppression causes the inner monster to come out in all of us, just as it did to Amelia in The Babadook. In The Babadook, suppression of grief is at the root of all of Amelia s personal problems. Suppressing her grief resulted in her becoming isolated from everyone around her, from her co worker Robby, her sister Claire, to even her son Sam. Because she was so wrapped up in suppressing memories of her husband, Amelia lost touch with the living world, and is left in an awkward limbo between her past and her present. Once the Babadook is unleashed, suppression of grief leads to paranoia for Amelia. As she continues to have visions, Amelia is trapped in a different limbo between reality and inside her mind, and as she continues to suppress her grief, her situation becomes progressively worse. Amelia s house and the tree across the street from Amelia s house are important motifs throughout The Babadook. However, while trees and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Furthermore, SB 349 (2017), as authored by Senator Ricardo Lara, would also require that dialysis clinics to provide patients with forty five (45) minute transition time, and frequent inspection be done yearly instead of every five to six years (SB 349, 2017). However, a regulation like this cannot be without opposition from large for profit corporations and other interested parties. In his study he has included 3 grades of knee ligament sprain. 1) In a mild grade 1: knee ligament sprain, the ligaments may extend but they don t actually tear. The joint cannot swell or hurt very much. It can increase the risk of injury again. 2) With a moderate evaluation II sprain: Bruising and swelling are most common sign. • 8. Portrait of Blood The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William... What does one think when the word blood is said? Death? Betrayal? Sadness? Blood is a prime example of imagery. Imagery paints a picture within the readers minds and puts them in the same situation that the sentence is portraying. Having imagery in a work, makes a reader more into the piece and involved. In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, blood is a device most often symbolizing betrayal by the conspirators, the death of Julius Caesar, and foreshadowing the upcoming events through Mark Antony s eyes. Julius Caesar s death came about by the betrayal of the conspirators. Brutus was one of Caesar s closest friends, but his dagger was the last to break through Caesar s cloak. The commoners and Antony were shocked to see the whole scene as the conspirators stream forth thy blood from Caesar. (III, i, 201) This image allows the reader to really visualize how Caesar actually died in the hands of the other conspirators. Mark Antony felt betrayed by not just Brutus, but all of the conspirators. He was devastated, but managed to stay dignified by shaking the bloody fingers of thy foes . (III, i, 198) The image of blood on each of the hands of the conspirators resulted in Caesar dying by betrayal. Blood and betrayal make the reader think that it would lead Mark Antony s actions to reflect those of the conspirators, but he perseveres and just asks for one chance to speak at Julius funeral. Betrayal by one person can lead to the leadership of another. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The True Face of Unethical Humor Following Chaucer s description of the Miller in the General Prologue, The Miller s Tale reveals that the Miller is more complex than his appearance initially suggests. Given its bawdy and humorous nature, the Miller s story consists of events of cuckoldry, foolishness, and secrets (1720, 1718, and 1719). As the teller of such a tale, the Miller would immediately be classified as a crude man, interested only in the physical appeal of women. The Miller displays complete apathy for the norms of society through his satire of the metaphysical Knight and clergyman. Furthermore, the Miller s bawdy nature progressively worsens as he initially begins with his songs of prostitution and later describes a woman s private areas, an action of atrocious audacity and low thinking, but he asserts is noble (1718). Thus, in his bawdy rebellion, the Miller solely focuses on his lewd tale, disregarding the norms of society. The Miller s deceptive qualities influence the characters actions in his story. During his pilgrimage with the Miller, Chaucer discovers the habits of the golden thumb Miller and describes him as a fox (1712). The Miller would cheat people by steal[ing] corn and charg[ing] for it three times (1712). The Miller s characters also use guile as frequently as the Miller does. In their affair, both Nicholas and Alison devise a plan to trick the jealous John. While speaking to John alone, Nicholas warns him of a flood to come and states he must not waste words on the wise; however, Nicholas tricks the so called wise carpenter and has intercourse with John s wife after John falls asleep (1727). Furthermore, Absolom begs for a kiss from Alison, but she beard[s] him, another instance of bawdy deceit (1730). • 17. Rhetorical Analysis Of The Atomic Era By William Faulkner The Atomic Era, spanning from 1945 through the 1960s, was a source of immense concern and fear that faced both Americans and the entire world. During this tumultuous time in history, past abominations such as the Depression and two deadly World Wars haunted Americans, while the Cold War loomed as an imminent threat. Due to such prolonged suffering, the human spirit holding people together the world over had fallen apart at the seams. Upon receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1950, William Faulkner delivered an acceptance speech in which he applies balanced sentences, meaningful repetition, and potent hyperbole in order to call aspiring writers to abandon their fears and encourage them to create work that will aid the world in midst of the current, volatile Atomic Age. William Faulkner incorporates balanced sentence structure throughout his speech to draw connections between the writer and their role within humanity. Faulkner begins his speech by addressing all aspiring writers and linking himself to them. He states that these writers are already dedicated to the same anguish and travail, among whom is already that one who will someday stand here where I am standing. Faulkner immediately establishes a hopeful tone regarding the future of writers, writers who, like Faulkner, understand that good writing requires the hard work of self sacrifice. Later on, when discussing the work of authors who disregard the universal truths of writing, Faulkner once again employs a balanced sentence. He claims such works are of defeats in which nobody loses anything of value, of victories without hope and, worst of all, without pity or compassion . Defeat and victory juxtaposed blurs the lines between the two and emphasizes the lack of meaning found within the works of authors unwilling to share the problems of the human heart. The parallelism of victories without hope, pity, and compassion marks any author s work lacking these essential elements as destitute. Faulkner closes his speech with a final balanced statement, The poet s voice need not merely be the record of man, it can be one of the props, the pillars to help him endure and prevail. • 26. Analysis Of Michael Jackson s The Rock Band Nirvana s... In 1992, Michael Jackson s Dangerous fell from the number one spot on the Billboard music charts, replaced by grunge rock band Nirvana s sophomore album, Nevermind, bringing alternative rock to mainstream and commercial success. Nirvana had started out in Seattle s underground music scene and consisted of lead singer and songwriter Kurt Cobain, bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Dave Grohl. Their sound was a subgenre of alternative rock known as grunge, a combination of punk rock and heavy metal characterized by heavy feedback and nihilistic lyrics. Their first album, Bleach, was released under independent label Sub pop and found moderate success in the underground punk scene, but it was not until they were bought out by major label DCG Records that Nirvana was able to reach commercial success. This was significant for two reasons; one, it introduced a completely different sound of music to the mainstream audience and two, the songs were written by and represented Generation X. For these very reasons, Nevermind was able to reach the top of the music charts. Before Nevermind, mainstream music was largely controlled by old, baby boomer (those born after World War II to about 1965) music executives. This resulted in music that Generation X (those that were born after the baby boomers) could not relate to. Not only was Nevermind written by Generation Xers, it also perfectly captured the feelings of Generation X: angry disillusionment with older generations. In addition, ... • 28. The Testament Of Isaiah And Isaiah Throughout the Old Testament God carried out his plan to bring His people back to Him. Often the people of Israel would fall away from their relationship with God by worshipping false Idols such as Baal or by disobeying His commands in general. One of the main ways God got his message of redemption to His people was via prophets, spiritually gifted individuals that God lifted up to communicate His will to the people of Israel. The prophets Jeremiah and Isaiah often were used to call Israel out on their wickedness, and to warn then of God s coming judgement that would teach them a lesson. It is clear from what the prophets wrote, that God very much intended to wipe the sins of the nation s away, one way or another. This is a message that still very much applies today, Isaiah and Jeremiah were meant to steer God s people back to Him and their messages with Christians today are supposed to do the same. Judah and Israel in their time were constantly full of sins and needing to be cleansed. In the beginning of Isaiah, he opens by stating that they were a sinful nation, A people laden with iniquity, A brood of evildoers, Children who are corrupters! They have forsaken the lord. (Isaiah 1:4, New King James Version). The sins of Judah and Israel were many and that is why God sent the prophets with the message they gave. In attempt to warn the people that disobeying God s commandments would lead to harsh punishment. It is apparent that God did respond to the sins harshly. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The implementation of the suggested new booking policy would lead to reduction of total expected costs per flight on average by £8,100. Furthermore, the new policy would increase the predictability of total costs per flight. With 90% confidence new costs will be in a range £750 and £4,800 as compared to the current range of £1,900 to £20,300. The comparative description of the policies is presented in table 1. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Quick look at the summary table helps us identify that the proposed quick fix is the least value destructing policy out of three policies. It has the lowest mean of total costs, the lowest probability of exceeding £10,000 as well as the narrowest range of the cost. To be more assured, we have additionally conducted probability dominance analysis (figure 2), which tells that both current and quick fix policy have deterministic dominance (always better) then no overbooking policy (green line). Whereas the quick fix (blue line) has stochastic dominance over currently employed policy (red line). The outcome of current policy maybe occasionally better than our proposed solution, but in the majority of cases the quick fix policy will be better. Figure 2 Probability dominance analysis Policy optimization In order to identify the optimal booking policy we have conducted simulation with 40 different booking levels for business and economy. As these two variables are independent, we have conducted consequential analysis. Results for business class level booking are in (figure 3). • 33. Hollywood Production Code Essay The film history of Hollywood is an extremely intriguing and intense. The film industry flourished in the 1890s, when motion picture cameras were invented and film production companies started to be established. It is fascinating how short films displayed in nickelodeons soon developed into feature films shown in luxurious movie palaces across the country. Technology was improving at a fast rate and later on new film techniques such as artificial lighting, fire effects and enhanced movie sets were introduced. Films, and Hollywood itself, were distinctly and permanently changed by the technology and innovation presented amid this time. For example, one of the developments that changed Hollywood forever is sound. Silent films vanished as soon as films with sound, better known as talkies were created. Furthermore, around this same time period, individuals possessed immense moral shifts powered by religious groups during the Great Depression, which resulted in decisions that created a new revolution that dealt particularly with the regulation of content of films. Consequently, in 1934, at the same time that the Golden Age of Hollywood began, the Hollywood Production code was formally implemented. Relatively few individuals are knowledgeable about the process and story encompassing the code. However, the analysis of the Pre Code film Baby face can be a valuable tool on the comprehension of the Production Code s direct impact on Hollywood and the reverberations that can ... This system is run by officials who, hopefully, have the nation s best interest at heart; but these best interests for a country often find themselves conflicting in their particular perspectives. In the novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, the government has chosen to preserve the interest of state and this dystopia is the result of mankind choosing the wrong faction in the conflict of interest. This is quite possibly the biggest flaw in Huxley s Brave New World: mankind now controls and predestines the people that inhabit their world, and the price for this control has become progress. A society built on the basis of Community, Identity, Stability will never be able to face the ever changing, fickle nature of humanity. In order to preserve control they must therefore eliminate evolution. They have stolen evolution s format: the world and mankind will forever be stuck in the small cage of Brave New World, and in essence this eliminates anything that is truly either brave or new. In conclusion, it is safe to say that Huxley s utopia went about achieving its status in the wrong way. Mankind has lost its free will to the controlling powers of a system. This system cannot be called government, as it is more akin in characteristics to slavery. Man no longer has freewill and order is kept not through respect and intellect, but via degeneration and conduct. The former sections of this essay present strategies and techniques used to maintain order in a society of individuals. Finally, it may be argued that the Brave New World protects society by locking them in a cage of ignorance; however, this is at the cost of freedom, and this is unacceptable. Mankind needs be free in order to progress as has been explained. Protection is all well and good but not at the cost of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Effects of Meditation on the Brain Mindful Meditation and the Brain Some view meditation as new age, hippie nonsense because it is not a social norm to sit in silence and dig beneath the surface of the mind. Others liken it to tuning an instrument before playing it. I subscribe to the latter; nonetheless, meditation is an ancient practice that can be traced back 2,500 years. However, neuroscientists are just now beginning to measure the effects that it has on the brain. While there are many types of meditation, they all have the same function; reaching an internal state of consciousness in which one is attending to a specific focal point. All meditators performed better than the control in their ability to detect stimuli indicating that both groups developed a heightened attention as a result of their practice. Results also showed that mindful meditators were significantly better at detecting unexpected stimuli, compared to the concentration group (Valentine, 1999). Another study was done during a three month silent retreat to see if mindful meditation can increase the ability to identify both stimuli in rapid succession, essentially reducing the trend known as attentional blink (Slagter, 2007) As cited by Slagter, attentional blink refers to an inability to perceive a second target in rapid sequential visual presentation of stimuli, if a first target was detected within a brief window of time, (500 milliseconds) preceding the second target (Shapiro, 1997). Research indicated that meditators showed less of an attentional blink response than non meditators after the three month retreat. Electroencephalography (EEG) signals revealed that the individuals that performed the best on the attentional blink task also exhibited the least amount of brain activity at the start of the first stimulus. This implies that those individuals were able to allocate their attentional resources evenly which is in co ordinance with their hypothesis that mindful meditation reduces attentional blink. ...
