Michelle Carter Suicide
Is this the day you succumb to your problems and listen to the thoughts, or will you keep on going?
These are the thoughts that were running through Conrad Roy s mind when he was texting his
girlfriend. The Suicide by text case has prompted many people to discuss social issues such as
mental illness and the court system. Michelle Carter was a young teenager who texted her
boyfriend telling him to commit suicidemultiple times. She is now facing years in prison for
involuntary manslaughter. The court system failed with this case but not drastically. They gave
her 2.5 years when she should have been charged as an adult and received twenty years. In June,
Moniz found Carter guilty of involuntary manslaughter, describing her behavior as reckless.
Carter received less years than usual because it was considered reckless and she only wanted
attention. She did not get the full sentence because she was not loved as much as she felt she
should have been. She should have received the full years, but this case was not as bad as others.
The 2.5 year sentence is long, but not long enough for costing someone his life because she wanted
attention.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Significance of the French Revolution and the Ensuing...
Discuss the significance of the French Revolution and the ensuing Napoleonic State on the
formation of nation states in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
The French revolution was an event of epic proportions. At the outset, alike the English Civil Wars,
an autocratic monarch (Louis XVI) summoned Parliament, in France Estates General, in order to
demand funds and prerogatives. The outcome became very similar to the English Civil Wars; the
Third Estate rebelled (in England it was Parliament though), overthrew the monarchy, the King was
executed, a republic was founded and kingship outlawed in the process. Nevertheless, even though
the English Civil Wars and the French Revolution bear resemblances, they are very separate ...

The consequences would be devastating in the twentieth century.
Also, the successes in the battlefield would be significant on the spreading of new ideas and forms
of government; the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen, the metric system, the
introduction of Civil marriage, and the Napoleonic Code. Many of these principles are still in use
in our day.
When Napoleon assumed total control of the French state, he sought to expand French influence.
Indisputably, Napoleon was a gifted commander in chief; France s military was well organised,
adequately equipped and capably led. Unsurprisingly, the French established their military
hegemony in Europe. Napoleon played the role of kingmaker and amended the political landscape
according to his views. He terminated the Holy Roman Empire, redistributed land (for instance
Bavaria greatly benefited and Poland was given independence), Ironically, when Napoleon was
defeated by monarchies fighting to reinstitute the ancien regime in France, the ancien regime was
not fully reinstated. Many states preferred to keep the new administrative and legal frameworks;
the French legacy was maintained as it was more efficient. (Emsley et al, p. 24 25, 2011).
The French Revolution and the Napoleonic Empire reintroduced the concept of elections in the
form of plebiscites for nationwide political affairs; Napoleon himself cleverly used the media and
military bulletins to augment his standing with the French nation. The difference

Similarities Between Hamlet And Lion King
Hamlet Vs. Lion King
The Lion King is watched by children all over the world. It is a classic Disney movie that many
watch for fun and entertainment, but could there be something else to this film? The plot of The
Lion King is very similar to Shakespeare s play, Hamlet . Some similarities include the lives of
Simba and prince Hamlet are changed due to their evil uncles, both fathers die, and both fathers
come back as ghosts. Each character in The Lion King connects with a character in Hamlet . Simba
plays as prince Hamlet, Mufasa plays as King Hamlet, Gertrude plays as Sarabi, Scar plays as King
Claudius, Nala plays as Ophelia, Rafiki plays as Horatio, hyenas plays as Laertes, and Timon and

Before prince Hamlet and Simba could complete their missions, they had to find their way back
home because Scar and king Claudius had sent Simba and Prince Hamlet away. After the
process of making their way back home, both princes end up with fighting with their uncles. In
The Lion King , Simba fights with Scar and Scar gets killed by the hyenas. Prince Hamlet in
Hamlet kills king Claudius with a poisonous knife. Both The Lion King and Hamlet allows the
main character to overcome a moral struggle. In The Lion King , Simba must act and be the king
of his palace for sake of the animals of the kingdom and his father instead of running from what
happened in the past. In Hamlet , prince Hamlet must decide to kill his uncle and take the risk of
getting himself killed, or to keep the secret of King Claudius killing King Hamlet and live with
it for the rest of his life. Some differences between Shakespeare s play and Disney s movie are the
ages of Simba and prince Hamlet, Simba s story is happy overall, most of the characters in
Hamlet die but only one died in The Lion King , Simba lives happily ever after while price
Hamlet died in the process of his revenge, Simba has help with his friends while prince Hamlet

Modern Day Society Of The Uk
Modern day society in the UK is often referred to as a consumer society, which is a society that
is defined by what and how people consume rather than what people do or produce. The rise of
mass consumption was largely due to a rise in affluence after the war, as women entered the
work force, credit became available and self service stores were introduced. This essay will focus
on how such a society produces winners and losers, first by looking at the consequences of power
wielded by large supermarketchains for small businesses, consumers and overseas workers, and
then by looking at Bauman s concepts of the seduced and the repressed and how this deepens
inequality and social divides.
It is argued that supermarket dominance is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To her, places like Dundee are typical of the changes that have taken place. Back in the 1960s,
there were 10 bakers, now only 2 remain, out of 8 butchers, one remains, and out of half a dozen
grocers, only one remains. In the present day, Dundee now hosts 6 Tesco s, 3 of which are Metro
or Express stores. One Asda, one Morrisons, one Sainsbury s and a number of other low priced
outlets. According to Blythman, there is a correlation between the closure of independent stores
and the presence of big supermarkets in Dundee, and it seems that they have benefited at the
expense of the small independent stores. (Allen, p163) To back this up, a survey of small grocery
retailers was conducted in 2011, and they identified the main obstacle to their business was
competition from the big supermarket chains. (ResPublica, 2011) This amounts to a zero sum game
(Wrong, 1997) where the Supermarkets gain is the small stores loss.
The involvement of Supermarket chains sourcing cheap labour overseas to keep costs low could
be problematic. It is claimed that workers overseas work excessive amounts of hours for little
reward and that consumers enjoy low prices at the checkout at the expense of overseas factory
workers who are denied earning a living wage. In 2006, War on Want, an anti poverty charity

Biological Theories Of Criminology
Lombroso believed that the characteristics of the criminal are outside the immediate control of the
individual, such as biological, psychological and sociological (Ellwood 1912, 717; White and
Haines 2008, 33; 37). Biological characteristics are divided into three types of somatoypes,
Endomorph, Mesomorph and Ectomorph (Shoemaker 2013, 68). Endomorph is the excessive, soft
body weight and an extroverted personality (Shoemaker 2013, 68). Mesomorph is an athletically
built and muscular structure and aggressive behaviour (Shoemaker 2013, 68). Ectomorph, can be
described as thin and delicate and having an introverted personality who are not likely to commit
crime(Shoemaker 2013, 68). Furthermore, around the 20th century, phrenology was the most...

Classicism and Positivism have both positively and negatively impacted on contemporary
understandings of criminology and criminal justice practices. Currently, both theories are viewed in
combination with each other rather than individually (Fishbein 1990, 27). If considered alone they
do not offer a complete assessment of the contributions to criminal behaviour (Fishbein 1990, 27).
In the past, biological factors were largely rejected as a result of unscientific findings and the
inability to posit rational explanations (Fishbein 1990, 27). The viewpoint by criminologists was
either nature (biological) or nurture (sociological, environmental) (Fishbein 1990, 29). Whereas, the
viewpoint is now nature plus nurture and findings are now supported by science and posit rational
explanations (Fishbein 1990, 29). In relation to the characteristics of criminals, there continues to
be criminal stereotypes based on physical and sociological characteristics, especially race and class
(Gatti and Verde 2012, 20). In relation to punishment, the 18th century English system agreed with
Beccaria s view on punishment as it was said to provide effective deterrence and reflect the status
quo (Draper 2000, 183). However, they did not agree with the same methods of punishment, unlike
the 20th century (Draper 2000,

Li Ka-Shing Essay
We will talk about the iconic figure Li Ka shing, a famous investor from Hong Kong. There are
specific analysis two classic cases of Li Ka shing. In 1970, after two oil shocks, the global oil
prices and oil stocks were in the doldrums, but Li Ka shing was optimistic about the oil industry
at that time and made the biggest overseas investment. Then, Husky Energy had more than 5,000
ports and oil concessions gas production wells, of which about 40% were owned by the mining
company that also held a 26.67% stake in heavy oil refineries and 343 petrol stations. The
downturn in oil prices caused cash flow difficulties. After the acquisition of Husky Energy
Company, he made a series of rapid expansion, took advantage of low prices to buy and drill
more oil in order to reduce debt. In June 1988, he spent 375 million Canadian dollars in fully
acquiring another Canadian oil company Cantera Energy and thus Husky Energy doubled its asset

1989 and the Bi Provincial Upgrader officially opened, a joint venture with Husky and the
governments of Canada, Alberta and Saskatchewan in 1992. Later Husky acquired Norcen
interests in the White Rose and Terra Nova fields. Husky and the Saskatchewan Government
acquired Bi Provincial Upgrader (50/50) in 1995. From these historical information, there is no
doubt that after Li Ka shing invested Husky Energy, the company has developed better and better

Explain The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Vertical...
4.3.6 Structural Partitioning
When the architectural style of a design follows a hierarchical nature the Program structure can be
partitioned horizontally and vertically.
There are mainly two types of Structure partitioning:
1.Horizontal Partitioning
2.Vertical Partitioning Figure 4.3
1. Horizontal Partitioning:
In horizontal partitioning, the control modules are used to communicate between functions and
execute the functions. It defines separate branches of the modular hierarchy for each major
program function as shown in the Figure 4.3.Control modules, represented in a darker shade are

4.3.7 Data Structure
Data structure is a representation of the logical relationship among individual elements of data. A
scalar item is the simplest of all data structures. It represents a single element of information that
may be addressed by an identifier. When scalar items are organized as a list or contiguous group, a
sequential vector is formed. When the sequential vector is extended to two, three, and ultimately, an
arbitrary number of dimensions, an n dimensional space is created. In many programming
languages, an n dimensional space is called an array.
A linked list is a data structure that organizes contiguous scalar items, vectors, or spaces in a
manner (called nodes) that enables them to be processed as a list.
A hierarchical data structure is implemented using multilinked lists that contain scalar items,
vectors, and possibly, n dimensional spaces.Stack is a conceptual model of a data structure that can
be implemented as a vector or a linked

Analyse Rembrandt Self Identity
I think that a work that Rembrandt painted to satisfy an inner need is Self Portrait with Two
Circles, from 1666 1669. It is unlike some of his other self portraits or face studies because it
really represents how he saw himself in relation to painting. In his face studies where he uses
himself as a model he is not trying to represent himself to others although he does play with light
and composition. In his formal self portraits he is shown with garments and jewelry that elevate his
status.
His earlier self portraits from 1636 38 and 1640 show emphasis on his gold chain and the luxury
of the fabric of his hat and clothes. He is youthful, only slight wrinkles and no grey hairs. They
contrast to his Artist in His Studio, 1627 28 an early work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He presents himself in costume, with a painters stick and hat. His older age is shown in his
wrinkles and greying hair. Rembrandt is still showing dominance of painting with his stance and
fantastical costume, as though he is a deity of painting. However, in his Self Portrait with two
Circles there is a change in how he represents himself to the viewer and the relationship he has
with painting has also changed. There is more light showing his grey hair and the extravagance
of his clothes and jewelry has diminished. Although, he is still wearing a gold chain it is not
given the same attention as his chains in his earlier portraits. He is wearing a basic painters hat
and smock with brushes and palette in his left hand. His identity has moved from master to
servant of the art of painting. Rembrandt is no longer hiding behind shadow and objects. I think
that Rembrandt had always tried to paint his relationship with painting but in this last self portrait
he is able to surrender to his ego as an artist. He goal was to simply paint himself, similarly to The
Artist in His Studio. This work satisfies his inner need to represent himself and the act of painting.
He has been able to do that without creating a tailored and exaggerated

In The Story of an Hour and A pair of silk stocking Chopin illustrates how women face the
consequences of never acquiring happiness in their lives if they follow the ways society expects

In the story of an hour Chopin discuss how getting married can lead you to live a life of anguish. In
the beginning of the short story Mrs. Mallard revives terrible news that her husband has been
recently killed, she Wept at once, with sudden, wild abandonment. This intense reaction is how
society would expect her to act if your husband dies. Mrs. Mallard then goes into her bedroom to

She had every right to spend money on herself, go where she wanted, and do whatever she
wanted to do without anyone questioning her. Having kids and a husband has affected her
freedom greatly, which is internally affecting her. With all these responsibilities she had no time
no second of time to devote to the past. Mrs. Sommers can t dwell in the past with so many
things to do; she needs to focus on getting though the present day with little money to spend.
With never looking back on the past or the future she is now trained in thinking that tomorrow
will never come. Just like Mrs. Mallard not thinking for herself and dreading the next day being
the same, Mrs. Sommers has transformed into a typical mother. Everyday is the same to her all
she does is take care of her kids. Chopin continues to display how following the expectations of
society can be detrimental. After Mrs. Sommers figured out what she wanted to spend on her
children, she went shopping. She went into a store and sat down for a minute feeling a bit tired
and her hand unintentionally touched something wonderful. She looked down to see that her hand
lay upon a pile of silk stockings. Feeling these stockings made her feel alive; she has wanted

Theme Of The Wind In The Willow
Pastoral Themes in the Wind the Willows
Pastoral works refer to a genre of literature that focuses on the bucolic aspects of nature and the
countryside. The English countryside represents the ideal location for a pastoral work. One such
work is the Edwardian children s story, The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame. Since its
publication in 1908, the story has become a beloved children s classic. However, the story
represents Edwardian society in England, and uses anthropomorphized animals to represent
Edwardian men. As a pastoral work, the events of the story occur in the English countryside, where
the animals work together to care for the wild one in their group, Mr. Toad. Mr. Toad s Wild Ride

The author used the background of a pastoral vision to help elucidate the characteristics of
Edwardian society. Mr. Toad is one of the most known characters from the work. He is extremely
wealthy and essentially bored with his life. His English country life does not offer him
fulfillment. As such, he jumps from interest to interest, quickly grabbing at new hobbies. As a
wealthy landed scion, he has the luxury of this lifestyle. From the earliest mentions of his home,
Toad Hall, it becomes apparent that he represents the landed gentry. Rat points out his home
from the river. The stables are over there to the right. That s the banqueting hall you re looking at
now very old, that is. Toad is rather rich, you know (Grahame 19). Toad quickly changes his
interests, spending the money his father left him. Rat describes this character flaw of Toad:
Boating is out. He s tired of it, and done with it. I wonder what new fad he has taken up now?
(Grahame 21). Toad quickly takes up motoring as his new hobby. Motoring referred to the hobby
of driving and racing cars, something only the wealthy could afford at this time. All of this is
discussed as the characters take a slow ride down the river and then sit quietly in the countryside.
An outdoor luncheon helps to create the image of the setting. The English countryside represents
the perfect pastoral setting, and the characters all seem to enjoy

Music On My Car Ride Home
It was only a few short years ago, after returning from a speaking engagement at a men s
conference in Barrie Ontario, when I began to have a headache. It was only about one hour
before I would be home, so I grabbed a bottle of water, just thinking that I was dehydrated and
tired from the long day and dismissed the head pain as a temporary discomfort. Listening to
music on the radio on my car ride home would be a good distraction for the remainder of the trip.
One of my favourite alt rock bands, The Kings of Leon had just released a new single called
Temple. It was a catchy tune so I turned up the volume, and if you are familiar with this musical
group at all it usually takes a few listens to begin to navigate the searing vocals and sing along
with the lively lyrics. The chorus was immediately infectious and since I was alone in my
personal travelling concert hall I bellowed along loudly; I d take one in the temple, I d take one
for you. I d take one in the temple (temple), I d take one for you. Humming my way through the
verses and then boom, the chorus kicks in and off I go again; ...take one in the temple... , and
before I could complete the last refrain, it felt like I just took a knife literally into the right side
of my head. The music went off. The gas pedal went down. The head ache went from zero to
sixty in 1.2 seconds. My mind began to play games with me, fear can do that, pain can do that too,
and I began to wonder about the lyrical portend. Was it just a

C. Wright Mills Sociological Imagination
Exploring C. Wright Mills sociological imagination
Introduction
Many sociologists believe that good sociology has to examine both the structure of a society and
social interaction between individuals. It is only by combining the study of the major changes
in a society and in individuals lives that one can form an understanding of social life
(Haralambos, Holborn, Heald, 2000). People have an irresistible need to explain behaviour, to
find the causes of an individual s actions, and therefore make it seem orderly and predictable
(Abell, Myers, Sani, 2014). Furthermore, sociologists share the aim of expanding this need for an
explanation to the social world as a whole, even if their perspectives and approaches differ. They
believe that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a marriage the spouses may experience personal troubles, but should the divorce rates within a
certain amount of years into marriage rise, it indicates a structural issue in the institutions of
marriage, and thus becomes a public issue.
Conclusion
According to Mills, sociology should be about examining the biography of an individual in a
wider context of history of societies (Mills, 2000). Sociologists must consider the major
institutions of society, not only the personal situation and character of a range of individuals.
Sociological imagination allows us to grasp history and biography, examine them together and
separately, and their relation in a society. But sociological imagination is not merely an alternative
approach for sociologists to play with: it is important to all members of society should they wish to
understand, change and improve, not only their lives, but the society in which they live in
(Haralambos, Holborn, Heald, 2000). It can be argued that the sociological imagination is crucial in
controlling the risks and grasping the potential found in modern societies, and thus giving us an
opportunity to improve people s

Horticulture, as an industry, is divided on the basis of crop and plant use. Horticulture can be

Is The Unconscious Theory Applied In The Art Work Of Dada
What is Freud’s unconscious theory and how is it applied in the art work of Dada
/ surrealist artists?
Sigmund Freud was a Jewish Austrian neurologist who founded the discipline of psychoanalysis.
Freud went on to develop theories about the unconscious mind. The concept of the unconscious
theory was central to Freud’s ideas of the human mind. He first introduced his ideas around
the unconscious theory when trying to explain what happens to ideas that are repressed but remain
in the mind.
In Freud’s original outline of the main principles to the theory, he believed the mind was
made up of 3 systems †the unconscious, preconscious, and the conscious. The unconscious
part of the mind is made up of hidden desires, impulses or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This suggests his childhood fear of sex has been repressed in the unconscious and is coming through
into his paintings through Freudian methods such as deep symbolism, dream like landscapes and
figures, and even slight use of humour. As well as the use of sexual motifs, Dali has juxtaposed
many objects in this painting such as the stamen of the lily and the tongue of the lion, the locust
over the human mouth, the woman morphing into Dali’s face. This all suggests that Dali
was representing his hidden desires through the absurdity of the juxtaposition of these objects. It
was a way of expressing his unconscious as these objects have turned into something strange and
dreamlike; some of them improbably enlarged (the locust), and some morphed into one another (the
woman, Dali’s face and the lower part of the man’s body).
Joan Miro, also a surrealist artist, created the art work ‘Catalan Landscape’ in
1923 4. To Miro, surrealism was an artistic response to the power of dreams and the unconscious
mind, but was only a brief obsession.
Within the painting, the flat shapes and lines (mostly black or coloured) suggest the subjects,
sometimes quite cryptically. Because the subjects are not immediately known as to what they mean
or are this shows that Miro has been influenced by the idea that

Abstract:
Green tea, an unfermented leaves is rich in catechins. Catechins are known to lower the lipid by un
regulating lipid metabolizing enzyme via NF KB and thereby stimulating fat oxidation. Black tea
results from the fermentation of green tea in which catechins of green tea is converted to theaflavin
and thearubigin, which have some significant health benefits of their own. Theaflavin is
responsible for reduced lipid accumulation, suppressed fatty acid synthesis, and stimulated fatty
acid oxidation by inhibiting acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase activities.
A literature review of a total of 8 Randomized Controlled trials (RCTs), 5 Meta analyses
consisting of 75 peer reviewed Randomized Controlled trials (RCTs) on 5319 subjects and 6
population based studies were selected for this study. The research related to Green tea effect on the
cholesterol and lipid lowering effect shows promising results with high dose of intake for long
term. Studies and meta analyses of CCRTs in most cases showed improved low density

The Iran Hostage Crisis And America s First Encounter With...
On David Farber s book Taken Hostage, Farber informs us about the Iran Hostage Crisis and
America s First Encounter with Radical Islam. This book tells us how the United States and Iran
got into conflict, leading to the Iranians holding American Embassy members hostage as revenge
for them feeling betrayed by the United States. It also informs us about other events that occurred
in a decade that caused the United States many problems. Farber talked about all the events that
lead to the Iranian Hostage Crisis. November 4, 1979, seizure of the United States embassy in
Tehran and the hostage of four hundred and forty four days following, were the first steps leading

more specifically from President Carter, to identify the severity of the crisis made for the prolonged
crisis. The sheer ineptitude of Carter administration was the cost of the US to lose it s way
economically, culturally, politically and even military. Carter struggled to respond to the impulses

mass media manipulation of Americans played on the peoples emotions. Although Carter was

Gcu Rejection Letter
I am contacting you to formally appeal your decision to reject my application to transfer to ECU
for the fall semester. My belief is steadfast that I could excel at your university. I was told on
Friday August 4th that my GPA was too low to be admitted this semester and I had the option to
take more classes, raise my GPA and reapply for the spring semester.
After receiving my initial rejection letter earlier this year, I picked myself up by the bootstraps and

would play a significant factor in my future studies. I was prescribed medication and was told it was
the immediate solution. Although the medication helped, I still had to learn the best

Types Of Personality Tests Out There
There are many types of personality tests out there. Some of them are better than others. These
tests are used to help determine the different personality types. Many employers use these tests to
help place new employees. They also use them to help determine if an employee will work out or
not. It can be important to know your own personality type. Understanding how you learn and
what type of jobs might be best for you can be very helpful in your own life. Many employers
use tests like the one found on the personality page website. One of their goals is to find
employees with the best personality for the job. Using these tests can save a company a lot of
time and effort when hiring new employees. For example, Overnight Transportation in Atlanta
found that using such tests reduced their on the job delinquency by 50% 100% (Livingston, p.
54). This is a huge drop saves them so much time and money by hiring more reliable people.
Though there are some downsides to these personality tests by employers. To get the most
accurate assessment you have to be honest when taking the test. When an employer is looking for
the best personality for the job a perspective employee has motives not to be honest. A
complicating factor is that people filling out the survey do not have a strong incentive to be honest.
In fact, they have a greater incentive to guess what the job requires and answer the questions in a
way they think the company is looking for (Livingston, p. 55). This is

Essay A. Marcello Oboe Concerto in D Minor
Charles Pridgen
CONS 422a
From the journal of Antonio Vivaldi
December 12, 1717
As noted in a previous journal entry, I had made a trip to Cöthen where the great composer,
Johann Sebastian Bach, is under the service of Prince Leopold. There I heard a recent keyboard
transcription of Bach s. The transcription was of a piece called Concerto in D minor for Oboe,
Strings and Basso Continuo. Bach listed the composer as the well known Venetian composer
Benedetto Marcello. As I listened to the piece, I was captured by the simple yet eloquent melodies
that were presented but I also was curious as I had not known of Benedetto to write for oboe. I
also know that Marcello stated, Oboes, flutes, trumpets, bassoons, etc., will always be out of ...

There are three Marcello brothers, Alessandro, Benedetto and Girolamo, who were born of
nobility here in Venice. Benedetto is well known for his music. Alessandro composes also but his
interests actually lie more with philosophy, mathematics, history, chemistry, painting and poetry.
Alessandro has a small body of work in music. This is probably due to him being much more of a
figure head in the Venetian government since his father passed away in 1707. Benedetto has a
much larger body of work composing of many instrumental and sacred vocal pieces. I recalled that
considering the academic pursuits of the Marcellos, that it was possible that they were members of
the Arcadian colony. The Arcadians were a new movement of intellectuals that emphasized the
respect of artistic achievement and a return to the Greek ideals that music and poetry worked
together. They also wished to avoid lavish displays and encouraged simplicity. The Arcadians
would also use pseudonyms and I discovered that the pseudonym of Eterio Stinfalico belonged to
Alessandro Marcello.
Now that I learned who the true author was, I went to seek out Alessandro. It is typical of nobles
such as the Marcello to conduct concerts in their home. I went to the Palazzo Marcello and
discovered a concert was being performed that had the concerto on its program. The oboist was
unknown to me. The audience contained mostly nobles and government

Robobee Research Paper
Artificial pollination of crops could be the alternative solution to the dwindling populations of
pollinator insects.
Over the years, the population of butterflies, bees, and other crop pollinators has been on a rapid
decline, risking the production of global food supplies. There are now lesser insects compared to
several years ago, mainly due to climate change, human activity and other practices that destroy the
insect s environment.
Farmers are using a few artificial pollination methods in controlled areas such as the greenhouses.
These include mechanically shaking the plants, hand pollination, or other non convention crop
pollination methods instead of relying on the traditionally known natural bees. Some of these
agricultural methods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The miniature flying robot has the ability to lift off, hover and perch. In addition, the artificial
insects can swim in water, as well as fly through dust and wind.
The artificial bees are available in different models and sizes, with the smallest bee weighing just
84mg, hence lighter than the real bee. The smallest Robobee model is capable of flapping its wings
120 times per second. The artificial insects can sense their surroundings and also communicate with
one another.
Robobee in rescue missions
The Robobee was initially designed for the artificial crop pollination; however, the bees can be
used for other applications such as search and rescue missions in areas where larger robots cannot
fit. By communicating with each other, the robobees in a swarm will relay the information through
each other back to the control without having to wait for the particular robot to get back. This
means that the information from the field reaches the control room faster compared to the time a
single robot would take to take back the information.
The robobees are still in development stages, but so far Laboratory results seem promising.
However, there are several challenges such as power and communication issues to address before
insects become commercially available. Once these and other issues are sorted out, we will soon
have the Robobees performing artificial pollination, environmental monitoring and rescue

The Accomplishments Of Julius Caesar
What was Julius and Augustus status as a soldier and their military accomplishments? How did they
obtained their titles as dictators and emperors? Julius Caesar and Caesar Augustus were both great
military leaders, having many military accomplishments. Both worked hard to become the dictators
and emperors they were.
Julius Caesar started as a military tribune making ready to become a Consul. One of the world s
most vital military pioneers was regularly acquainted with a senatorial, patrician family and was the
nephew of another observed Roman general, Marius. Julius military accomplishments were that he
was known never to have lost ever a single war. These were extraordinary triumphs that legitimated
the consolidation the Gaul as part of the Roman Empire, increasing the geographical reaches of
Rome to the Atlantic Ocean. The Roman invasion of Britain in 55 B.C. was moreover one of the
genuine achievements of Julius Caesar
Augustus military accomplishments were that he was part of Caesar s military expedition to Spain
to destroy the offspring of Pompey, his vanquished foe. They were endeavoring to carry on their
father s rivalry with Caesar. Augustus was inspecting and engaging military planning in Apollonia,
Illyria. Rejecting the urging of some of his officers to take refuge with the troops in Macedonia, he
traveled to Italia to discover whether he had any potential political fortunes or security. Antony and
Augustus then sent 28 armed forces by means of sea to

The current United States economy, more specifically the housing market, has had great affects on

construction companies that are experiencing problems. More construction companies are

unsure how to better generate sales for the company. After reviewing the sales representatives,

made in order to remain relevant as a top seller in the industry.
An overall problem for the industry is the lack of quality products and customer service as a

Neil Postman Learning In The Age Of Television Summary
In 1985, author Neil Postman released an article titled Learning in the Age of Television . The
focus of the article is how technology, more specifically television, can influence and affect the
education of children. Postman elaborates on these topics by bringing in facts and examples, such
as the educational televisionshow Sesame Street , to support his claims.
Postman begins his article discussing how parents have embraced the educational television show
Sesame Street . The program would prove to justify children s overexposure to television as well
as relieving parents of the responsibility of teaching their children how to read (1). Aside from just
appearing to be an imaginative aid in helping Americans to read, Sesame Street would ... Show

Educational television shows such as Sesame Street can be effective in learning as long as
viewership of the program is not excessive. An educational show of the sorts can create a strong
basis for a task such as reading or learning the alphabet. The show would also help to better
prepare a student on a topic before they learn the topic at hand in school. A problem only arises if
one watches an excessive amount of educational television and just expects education in classrooms
to be all entertainment as well. Teaching and entertainment do not have to be independent of
each other as one can highlight or emphasis a point by using the other. As for electronic media in
general, I do agree with Postman that it can be debatable when it comes to education, however, I
also believe that it can also be very beneficial if done right. Whether it is a video or film an
educator shows in class, the media can help to emphasize or elaborate on a point trying to be
made. The media can act as an aid to students to help them develop a more well rounded
understanding on a topic. I also disagree with one of Postman s three commandments as the second
one, regarding perplexity, cannot be applied to all television shows. Postman states that a perplexed
learner is a learner who will turn to another station.

Analysis Of Cushing s Syndrome And Its Effects On The Body
Cushing s syndrome is a rare endocrine disorder that occurs when your body is exposed to an
overabundance of the hormone cortisol.3 Cortisol is known as the stress hormone. The interruption
of cortisol secretion can cause weight gain and can ultimately determine where you put the weight
on.8 There are many underlying causes such as Pituitary Adenomas, Ectopic ACTH Syndrome,
Adrenal Tumors, and Familial Cushing s Syndrome.2 The majority of these people affected by this
hormonal disorder experience weak muscles, increase fat, high blood pressure, etc.1 Although
thousands are affected in various ways, there are currently several channels of treatment
administered by medical professionals. Through the use of improving technology, medical
professionals are better understanding the disorder, allowing them to develop better treatment
practices.
Cortisol plays a major role in the development of this disorder. It is secreted by the adrenal gland,
located above the kidneys, in a precise sequence of events. The hypothalamus directs corticotropin
releasing hormone(CRH) to the pituitary gland.1 CRH causes the pituitary to release
adrenocorticotropin hormone(ACTH) activate the adrenal glands.1 The adrenal glands pick up the
ACTH, they reciprocate by releasing cortisol in the bloodstream.1 Cortisol helps with quite a few of
your body functions. Some of these functions are stress response, balancing the effects of insulin,

Robert Nozick s Experience Machine
In this essay, following a brief discussion on Nozick s Experience Machine , I argue that his
assumption that nobody would plug into the experience machine is a false one due to his failure to
fully explore what creates a pleasurable experience. I will then further discuss this idea of pleasure,
suggesting that it is possible that the experience machinecould potentially offer an experience that
people would be more inclined to participate in and that more fully imitates reality. However, I
will counter this with the Nozick s affirmation that people desire to connect with reality and
mimicry of reality does not allow a part in the course of our universe.

desire the end goal of becoming a more knowledgeable person or even simply the satisfaction of

unpleasant means. Nozick seems to offer through his examples that his machine may possibly
simulate these things, as long as the experience is ultimately a pleasurable one, and I suspect that
this means the result is an elevated feeling of joy. If we offer this deeper, more complicated view
on pleasure and fulfilment and state that the experience machine could still offer this to us, it

Core Principles Of An Ideology
Core principles of an ideology allows for the ability to the concepts to be put into use. The ideas

She was starting to live alone and had a partner; with whom it was dreaded she was expected to
instigate a sexual relationship. Consequently, Z s mother contended that it was in her best
interests to have a hysterectomy. The solicitor disputed that in place of a hysterectomy it would
be better to go for a contraceptive method. The Court believed that it was in the patient s best
interests to implement a sterilisation as menstruation caused her nothing but agony, distress and
humiliation, together with the likelihood of pregnancy and the subsequent difficulties of
managing with a child or giving it up. The Court consequently evaluates all the evidence in all
the cases individually before determining what is the suitable action to take in respect of each
patient. Katie Thorpe s case differs from these examples as her mother desires to perform
preventive sterilisation, before she goes through menstruation at all. Preceding cases have all been
grounded on a situation where the patient can be shown to be unable to cope with menstruation.
In my opinion, the statement made by Heilbron J [in Re D] is somewhat correct in different
circumstances. I believe that if the girl or woman was incompetent then she would not be able to
make her own decision therefore the doctors or her parents would have to make it for her. If the
patient was competent, I would agree that it would be a violation of her rights to sterilise her for

According to an article written by Dr. Charlotte Houldcroft from the University of Cambridge,
researchers have created a new study suggesting that the Neanderthals from Europe may have been
infected with diseases carried out of Africa by modern humans, called Homo sapiens. Since both of
the species are hominin, it would have been easy for pathogens to jump from one population to

to the end of the Neanderthal population.

A bacterium that is called Helicobacter pylori, which causes stomach ulcers, is considered to have

Gender, Gender And The Media
This book was written in a clear style with lots of instances from Anglo American media, Gender
and the Media. It provides a critical introduction to the study of gender in the media and updated
assessment of the crucial issues and debates. The book looks in detail at five kinds of media:
news, advertising, talk shows, magazines and contemporary screen and paperback romances. It is
examined how presentations of female and male are changing in recent years. Gill asks how useful
nations such as objectification, backlash and positive images are for making sense of genderin today
s western media.
Gender and the Media asks some of the significant terminology that have been used to study gender
in media texts, since scholars and activists first engaged with media representations of gender. This
book aims to explore how the media today construct femininity, masculinity and gender relations.
Digital media and gender are different topics, but they have close connection in society. Digital
media is one of the main types of media, it can be created, viewed, distributed, modified on
digital electronics devices. It plays a significant role in society and culture, and also it can cause
dramatic influences on human s lives. Gender is usually seen as a socially determined difference
based upon the biological differences between the sex. These representations of media can
influence the general public s perception of the different genders. Sexting is a prevalent hot spot in

There was a point in time, when the Holocaust tragedy transpired, where the Nazi s committed

Theme Of Love In Antigone
Joseph Keighley was a thirty year old father whose wife had been subjected to a terrible illness.
He loved her so much that he would perform any task she wished for him to do for her. however
as time passes, she had passed away and his devoted heart for her rendered him to not be with any
woman other than his wife. Love, a powerful word and action is often described to be something in
which you devote your feelings and emotion to something or someone with full intent, however
Love in Antigone, a tragic play, written by Sophoclesreciprocates this idea in a completely new
way. A theme that Sophocles writes throughout Antigone could possibly be the idea of loyalty to
the city versus family, and he often grazes upon the origin on many of the themes, providing
sufficient amount of details that could be used to support them. However, a possible main occuring
theme of Antigone is that Love is unconquerable. This theme surfaces in many ways throughout the
play, specifically, in the idea of Love overpowering every aspect that the Greeks and Athenians
believed to be impenetrable. In the midst of the conflict between Creonand Haemon, Creon
strongly dislikes and neglected Haemon s point of view because he believes that he had been
corrupted by a woman. Haemon is accused of being held captive by Antigone and his love for her
recognized [him as] the slave of a woman, referring to the love that Antigone possesses,
overpowering Haemon (Sophocles 769). Sophocles intentionally adds a

On July 17th 2016, I stood in front of the presidential hall of the University of Toledo gazing at the
beauty of the architecture the college building possessed, and I anticipated what the University of
Toledo had to teach me through the youth nations program. I along with the hundreds of other
students from all over the country, stood there glancing around, with our ambitious eyes, and hopes
to get what Universityof Toledo has to offer. As I walked in and met the students, professors and
attended the one week long camp, I started to realize that the University of Toledo and I had the
same thing in common, same vision, same goal: to help flourish what already exists. Exactly 6
days later, after the camp was over, I again stood in front of... Show more content on

Piper Alpha Case Studies
Abstract
This research report is about the Piper Alpha Disaster that happened in 1988. Being one of the
major oil production oil rig in the UK, the accident that took place more than 20 years ago caught
the attention of many, especially those in the field. The happening was largely due to the
complacency of the supervisors as well as the safety measures of the management. Using the
internet, academic journals and textbooks available, the research was conducted by referring to
various sources of information regarding the incident. After the explosion there are many new
prevention steps taken in this field of industry as well as new managing system of the offshore
regulatory control.

knowing that it ll be high risk. The management disregarded adherence to certain safety rules. There
were regulations, but enforcement was not there. The nation and corporate pride rendered

Leonardo Da Vinci Aerial Screw
Leonardo Da Vinci s Aerial Screw is said to be the predecessor of the modern day helicopter,
which came 450 years later. The idea was to build a machine that would compress air and allow
it to fly, like how most modern day helicopters function. Like many of Da Vinci s ideas, the
Aerial Screw was never physically built or tested by himself, but his sketches and notes
explained exactly how it was supposed to have worked. This machine was also called the Helical
Air Screw, which originated from the Greek word helix, which means spiral. If this instrument
made with a screw be well made that is to say, made of linen of which the pores are stopped up
with starch and be turned swiftly, the said screw will make its spiral in the air and it will rise
high, was how Da Vinci explained the aerial screw should work. The device was over 15 feet
long and made of reed, linen, and wires, with the main wings being 2 meters long. The Aerial
Screw was designed to be a man powered machine, but with the absence of engines and the weight
of the device, there was no way men would be able to produce enough energy to lift themselves
against gravity. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the age of 14, da Vinci moved to Florence where he began an apprenticeship with artist Andrea
del Verrocchio. Under the watchful eye of Verrocchio, da Vinci learned an array of technical skills
including sculpting, painting, drawing, leather arts, carpentry, and metalworking. At the age of 20,
da Vinci qualified as a master artist in Florence s Guild of Saint Luke. Verrocchio was so humbled
by the superior talent and skill of da Vinci that he retired and never picked up the paintbrush again.
Leonardo da Vinci would eventually be employed by the Sforza clan as an architecture and
military advisor as well as a painter and sculptor. Da Vinci used his inventive mind to conceptualize
and sketch machines that resemble a bicycle, tank, glider, and a

  • 2. Michelle Carter Suicide Is this the day you succumb to your problems and listen to the thoughts, or will you keep on going? These are the thoughts that were running through Conrad Roy s mind when he was texting his girlfriend. The Suicide by text case has prompted many people to discuss social issues such as mental illness and the court system. Michelle Carter was a young teenager who texted her boyfriend telling him to commit suicidemultiple times. She is now facing years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. The court system failed with this case but not drastically. They gave her 2.5 years when she should have been charged as an adult and received twenty years. In June, Moniz found Carter guilty of involuntary manslaughter, describing her behavior as reckless. Carter received less years than usual because it was considered reckless and she only wanted attention. She did not get the full sentence because she was not loved as much as she felt she should have been. She should have received the full years, but this case was not as bad as others. The 2.5 year sentence is long, but not long enough for costing someone his life because she wanted attention.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Discuss the significance of the French Revolution and the ensuing Napoleonic State on the formation of nation states in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The French revolution was an event of epic proportions. At the outset, alike the English Civil Wars, an autocratic monarch (Louis XVI) summoned Parliament, in France Estates General, in order to demand funds and prerogatives. The outcome became very similar to the English Civil Wars; the Third Estate rebelled (in England it was Parliament though), overthrew the monarchy, the King was executed, a republic was founded and kingship outlawed in the process. The consequences would be devastating in the twentieth century. Also, the successes in the battlefield would be significant on the spreading of new ideas and forms of government; the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen, the metric system, the introduction of Civil marriage, and the Napoleonic Code. Many of these principles are still in use in our day. When Napoleon assumed total control of the French state, he sought to expand French influence. Indisputably, Napoleon was a gifted commander in chief; France s military was well organised, adequately equipped and capably led. Unsurprisingly, the French established their military hegemony in Europe. Napoleon played the role of kingmaker and amended the political landscape according to his views. He terminated the Holy Roman Empire, redistributed land (for instance Bavaria greatly benefited and Poland was given independence), Ironically, when Napoleon was defeated by monarchies fighting to reinstitute the ancien regime in France, the ancien regime was not fully reinstated. Many states preferred to keep the new administrative and legal frameworks; the French legacy was maintained as it was more efficient. (Emsley et al, p. 24 25, 2011). The French Revolution and the Napoleonic Empire reintroduced the concept of elections in the form of plebiscites for nationwide political affairs; Napoleon himself cleverly used the media and military bulletins to augment his standing with the French nation. This essay will focus on how such a society produces winners and losers, first by looking at the consequences of power wielded by large supermarketchains for small businesses, consumers and overseas workers, and then by looking at Bauman s concepts of the seduced and the repressed and how this deepens inequality and social divides. (Allen, p163) To back this up, a survey of small grocery retailers was conducted in 2011, and they identified the main obstacle to their business was competition from the big supermarket chains. (ResPublica, 2011) This amounts to a zero sum game (Wrong, 1997) where the Supermarkets gain is the small stores loss. The involvement of Supermarket chains sourcing cheap labour overseas to keep costs low could be problematic. It is claimed that workers overseas work excessive amounts of hours for little reward and that consumers enjoy low prices at the checkout at the expense of overseas factory workers who are denied earning a living wage. Biological Theories Of Criminology Lombroso believed that the characteristics of the criminal are outside the immediate control of the individual, such as biological, psychological and sociological (Ellwood 1912, 717; White and Haines 2008, 33; 37). Biological characteristics are divided into three types of somatoypes, Endomorph, Mesomorph and Ectomorph (Shoemaker 2013, 68). Endomorph is the excessive, soft body weight and an extroverted personality (Shoemaker 2013, 68). Mesomorph is an athletically built and muscular structure and aggressive behaviour (Shoemaker 2013, 68). Classicism and Positivism have both positively and negatively impacted on contemporary understandings of criminology and criminal justice practices. Currently, both theories are viewed in combination with each other rather than individually (Fishbein 1990, 27). If considered alone they do not offer a complete assessment of the contributions to criminal behaviour (Fishbein 1990, 27). In the past, biological factors were largely rejected as a result of unscientific findings and the inability to posit rational explanations (Fishbein 1990, 27). The viewpoint by criminologists was either nature (biological) or nurture (sociological, environmental) (Fishbein 1990, 29). Whereas, the viewpoint is now nature plus nurture and findings are now supported by science and posit rational explanations (Fishbein 1990, 29). In relation to the characteristics of criminals, there continues to be criminal stereotypes based on physical and sociological characteristics, especially race and class (Gatti and Verde 2012, 20). In relation to punishment, the 18th century English system agreed with Beccaria s view on punishment as it was said to provide effective deterrence and reflect the status quo (Draper 2000, 183). In 1970, after two oil shocks, the global oil prices and oil stocks were in the doldrums, but Li Ka shing was optimistic about the oil industry at that time and made the biggest overseas investment. Then, Husky Energy had more than 5,000 ports and oil concessions gas production wells, of which about 40% were owned by the mining company that also held a 26.67% stake in heavy oil refineries and 343 petrol stations. The downturn in oil prices caused cash flow difficulties. After the acquisition of Husky Energy Company, he made a series of rapid expansion, took advantage of low prices to buy and drill more oil in order to reduce debt. In June 1988, he spent 375 million Canadian dollars in fully acquiring another Canadian oil company Cantera Energy and thus Husky Energy doubled its asset from original $ 2 billion. It is unlike some of his other self portraits or face studies because it really represents how he saw himself in relation to painting. In his face studies where he uses himself as a model he is not trying to represent himself to others although he does play with light and composition. In his formal self portraits he is shown with garments and jewelry that elevate his status. His earlier self portraits from 1636 38 and 1640 show emphasis on his gold chain and the luxury of the fabric of his hat and clothes. He is youthful, only slight wrinkles and no grey hairs. It was only about one hour before I would be home, so I grabbed a bottle of water, just thinking that I was dehydrated and tired from the long day and dismissed the head pain as a temporary discomfort. Listening to music on the radio on my car ride home would be a good distraction for the remainder of the trip. One of my favourite alt rock bands, The Kings of Leon had just released a new single called Temple. It was a catchy tune so I turned up the volume, and if you are familiar with this musical group at all it usually takes a few listens to begin to navigate the searing vocals and sing along with the lively lyrics. The chorus was immediately infectious and since I was alone in my personal travelling concert hall I bellowed along loudly; I d take one in the temple, I d take one for you. I d take one in the temple (temple), I d take one for you. Humming my way through the verses and then boom, the chorus kicks in and off I go again; ...take one in the temple... , and before I could complete the last refrain, it felt like I just took a knife literally into the right side of my head. • 14. C. Wright Mills Sociological Imagination Exploring C. Wright Mills sociological imagination Introduction Many sociologists believe that good sociology has to examine both the structure of a society and social interaction between individuals. It is only by combining the study of the major changes in a society and in individuals lives that one can form an understanding of social life (Haralambos, Holborn, Heald, 2000). People have an irresistible need to explain behaviour, to find the causes of an individual s actions, and therefore make it seem orderly and predictable (Abell, Myers, Sani, 2014). Furthermore, sociologists share the aim of expanding this need for an explanation to the social world as a whole, even if their perspectives and approaches differ. They believe that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a marriage the spouses may experience personal troubles, but should the divorce rates within a certain amount of years into marriage rise, it indicates a structural issue in the institutions of marriage, and thus becomes a public issue. Conclusion According to Mills, sociology should be about examining the biography of an individual in a wider context of history of societies (Mills, 2000). Sociologists must consider the major institutions of society, not only the personal situation and character of a range of individuals. Sociological imagination allows us to grasp history and biography, examine them together and separately, and their relation in a society. But sociological imagination is not merely an alternative approach for sociologists to play with: it is important to all members of society should they wish to understand, change and improve, not only their lives, but the society in which they live in (Haralambos, Holborn, Heald, 2000). It can be argued that the sociological imagination is crucial in controlling the risks and grasping the potential found in modern societies, and thus giving us an opportunity to improve people s ... Sigmund Freud was a Jewish Austrian neurologist who founded the discipline of psychoanalysis. Freud went on to develop theories about the unconscious mind. The concept of the unconscious theory was central to Freud’s ideas of the human mind. He first introduced his ideas around the unconscious theory when trying to explain what happens to ideas that are repressed but remain in the mind. This suggests his childhood fear of sex has been repressed in the unconscious and is coming through into his paintings through Freudian methods such as deep symbolism, dream like landscapes and figures, and even slight use of humour. As well as the use of sexual motifs, Dali has juxtaposed many objects in this painting such as the stamen of the lily and the tongue of the lion, the locust over the human mouth, the woman morphing into Dali’s face. This all suggests that Dali was representing his hidden desires through the absurdity of the juxtaposition of these objects. It was a way of expressing his unconscious as these objects have turned into something strange and dreamlike; some of them improbably enlarged (the locust), and some morphed into one another (the woman, Dali’s face and the lower part of the man’s body). Joan Miro, also a surrealist artist, created the art work ‘Catalan Landscape’ in 1923 4. To Miro, surrealism was an artistic response to the power of dreams and the unconscious mind, but was only a brief obsession. He then turned to our varsity coxswain. Ashby, when you re over there, check on that new fin on the boat that I installed yesterday. Make sure that it will steer okay and learn how to use it before we put you all out on the water. The team then herded over to the trailer, and the silence was broken. Some were chatting amongst themselves, some were stretching, and some were checking their seats in the boats for any quirks. We could see the opponents walking by and hear them mutter little phrases such as, Uh oh, there they are, or maybe, Man, look at them, there is no way we can beat them! The pride swelled within all of us as this happened more and more often throughout the day. The tension eased as the day went on. It was only about nine o clock, and the varsity race was not scheduled until three twenty. More construction companies are following a, the low bidder gets the job, mentality versus providing true quality products and customer service, which in return results in a company like Canadian Chemical to lose sales. TJ Wood who is the Vice President of Sales for Canadian Chemical understands the dilemma and is unsure how to better generate sales for the company. After reviewing the sales representatives, products being sold, selling expenses, and the income statement it is evident changes need to be made in order to remain relevant as a top seller in the industry. The focus of the article is how technology, more specifically television, can influence and affect the education of children. Postman elaborates on these topics by bringing in facts and examples, such as the educational televisionshow Sesame Street , to support his claims. Postman begins his article discussing how parents have embraced the educational television show Sesame Street . The program would prove to justify children s overexposure to television as well as relieving parents of the responsibility of teaching their children how to read (1). Aside from just appearing to be an imaginative aid in helping Americans to read, Sesame Street would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Educational television shows such as Sesame Street can be effective in learning as long as viewership of the program is not excessive. An educational show of the sorts can create a strong basis for a task such as reading or learning the alphabet. The show would also help to better prepare a student on a topic before they learn the topic at hand in school. A problem only arises if one watches an excessive amount of educational television and just expects education in classrooms to be all entertainment as well. Teaching and entertainment do not have to be independent of each other as one can highlight or emphasis a point by using the other. As for electronic media in general, I do agree with Postman that it can be debatable when it comes to education, however, I also believe that it can also be very beneficial if done right. Whether it is a video or film an educator shows in class, the media can help to emphasize or elaborate on a point trying to be made. The media can act as an aid to students to help them develop a more well rounded understanding on a topic. I also disagree with one of Postman s three commandments as the second one, regarding perplexity, cannot be applied to all television shows. Postman states that a perplexed learner is a learner who will turn to another station. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consequently, Z s mother contended that it was in her best interests to have a hysterectomy. The solicitor disputed that in place of a hysterectomy it would be better to go for a contraceptive method. The Court believed that it was in the patient s best interests to implement a sterilisation as menstruation caused her nothing but agony, distress and humiliation, together with the likelihood of pregnancy and the subsequent difficulties of managing with a child or giving it up. The Court consequently evaluates all the evidence in all the cases individually before determining what is the suitable action to take in respect of each patient. Katie Thorpe s case differs from these examples as her mother desires to perform preventive sterilisation, before she goes through menstruation at all. A theme that Sophocles writes throughout Antigone could possibly be the idea of loyalty to the city versus family, and he often grazes upon the origin on many of the themes, providing sufficient amount of details that could be used to support them. However, a possible main occuring theme of Antigone is that Love is unconquerable. This theme surfaces in many ways throughout the play, specifically, in the idea of Love overpowering every aspect that the Greeks and Athenians believed to be impenetrable. In the midst of the conflict between Creonand Haemon, Creon strongly dislikes and neglected Haemon s point of view because he believes that he had been corrupted by a woman.
