The Is The Right One For Me
Beating BPD In beginning this project, I struggled with choosing a diagnosis that would be the right
one for me to attempt to understand. Mental illness is a topic that has plagued my family for
generations. It has been a common theme in every relationship I have ever had. Although initially I
assumed this circumstance would make it immensely easy to choose a topic for this paper, as it turned
out it was the opposite. I first considered Oppositional Defiant Disorder, as I thought surely this is the
right topic so that I may take my findings to the father of my children to show him that he is
desperately in need of accepting the help I feel he needs. Then I thought, I will choose Factitious

Beginning with an inability to function, an impairment in personality must be present in either identity
or self direction. A person exhibiting an impairment in identity might criticize himself excessively,
have deep and troubling experiences of emptiness or possibly even experience dissociative states
under extreme stress. A person experiencing an impairment with self direction would exhibit signs of
inability to follow through or possibly even set goals, and have no drive in regards to career plans. The
Diagnostic criteria for this disorder demand that 5 of 9 criteria are met. Often a person with this
disorder will exhibit signs of suicidal tendencies or self mutilation. Other symptoms may include, but
are not limited to reacting in advance to a possibility of abandonment. The mere thought of losing a
relationship or a person who is viewed in some way as a caretaker is enough to cause significant
changes in their self image and therefore their behavior. These people are extremely sensitive to
changes in their environment, and it does not matter if those changes are announced in advance or
sprung by surprise. Extreme irritability and anxiety can cause instability as well. Often issues
controlling anger and temper tantrums become extremely problematic in keeping stability in home and
work environments. Most of the time this issue escalates to inappropriate proportions, causing loss of
jobs, dissolution of marriages or long term

Pepsico s Gatorade Brand And Its Impact On The World s...
Introduction
Gatorade is a PepsiCo owned company that manufactures many sports themed beverages as well as
food products. The Gatorade beverages are based on the oral rehydration therapy, which involves
drinking sugar and salt mixed water for the purpose of rehydrating. The Gatorade brand uses
carbohydrates and electrolytes to replenish athletes after rigorous physical activity (Gatorade, 2014).
Gatorade sweetens their drinks using a mixture of sucrose dextrose, which reduces the calorie count of
the beverage. Gatorade is a recognized leader in the sports drink and sports recovery market.

Energy drinks and sport drinks are two segments in the larger market of soft drinks. Contrary to
popular belief, energy drinks and sport drinks do not compete against each other due to their targeting
of different consumer needs. Sport drinks are mainly used for nutritional needs that arise before,
during and after physical activity. Sport drinks are based on the oral rehydration therapy, which
requires drinking a concoction of water, sugar, and salt for the purposes of rehydration (Cohen, 2013).
Although a niche product, sport drinks are beginning to enter into the mass market, where consumers
are now purchasing sport drinks for regular consumption unassociated with physical activity. Experts
project that the sport drink industry could grow to more than 9.3 billion dollars by the end of 2017
(Cohen, 2013). However, consumers are becoming to a small degree unsatisfied with the recycling of
old formulas when it comes to sports drink. Consumers now want sport drinks to have a low calorie
count as well as infusion of vitamins and protein. Gatorade recently launched a product line that
incorporated whey protein into their drink formula, however, the product extension launch was
deemed as unsuccessful due to lack of product awareness.
Market Demographics
The primary purchasers of sport drinks are athletes. These are people who actively play sports as a
hobby or professionally. 65 percent of buyers in this market are under the age of 35

Economic, Monetary And Financial Conditions
Economic, Monetary and Financial Conditions China An efficient economy is an economy where
resources are allocated to serve every citizen in the best way so that there will be minimal waste and
inefficiency within the economy. China is the short name for the country, but the real name is People s
Republic of China. China happens to be one of the economies that falls under an efficient economy
because it has continued to improve other the past decades. Over the past five years, economic
freedom in China has improved by less than 1.0 point, continuing its patchy and uneven progress since
1995 (heritage.org). Although China has had some rough stages in economy efficiency, they have
continued to strive and make it on top. China is one of the most thriving countries in the world today,
but it is still classified as a developing country. The population has reached over 1.364 billion and
contributes to the 19.06 trillion dollars in exports along with the 19.01 trillion dollars in imports.
China has obtained over fifty different commercial banks in their growth to the present, but there are

Klc Case Study
I
The clients visiting Kingsford Legal Centre (KLC) are often disadvantaged and experiencing
hardships in their life, their needs sometimes slip through the net and were not listened or catered by
the society, and this usually places them in a vulnerable situation. For instance, there are substantially
unequal bargaining powers when a client is facing employment issues, where the opposing party is the
client s employer or the organisation represented by a team of in house legal counsels. The opposing
party may, source any information that is relevant to the client, to leverage their own position. KLC
takes on a proactive approach by introducing confidentiality standards and procedures, aligning with
client legal privilege, thus facilitates a confidential and protected communication between the client
and the staffs of KLC.
Community legal centres like the KLC are committed to providing disadvantaged clients with
accesses to justice. The increasing ethical dilemma with client conflict of interest, could potentially

Ggap High School Curriculum
Jeannie Oakes defines tracking as the process whereby students are divided into categories so that they
can be assigned in groups to various kinds of classes (3). I was placed on a high track level for middle
school that fed into a similar high track in high school. During grade five, I was chosen to take a test
that would determine my acceptance into the Gifted and Accelerated Program (GAP) which promised
to provide an advanced and accelerated curriculum in all areas for those students who were granted
admission. According to the program s webpage, GAP is only open to students scoring in the 95th

My high school only had fourteen counselors to help the 4,263 students in attendance, this counselor
to student ration meant that not much time could be devoted to each student to help them navigate the
complex college application system (Common Core Data 2010). During my time, I never actually
spoke to any of the counselors about college plans and I was not even aware that they could help in
that area. The only time I met with a counselor was to choose classes for the next year and those
meetings never exceeded ten minutes. Also, coming from a family that had not attended college, I was

The Use of Symbolism in A Doll House
Author Margaret Trudeau once said, I can t be a rose in any man s lapel ( I Can t Be ). This quote
expresses exactly what was going through many women s minds during the 1800 s in Norway. Women
had let their husbands control their lives for ages before the 1800 s. Soon, they could no longer stand
being the rose in their husbands lapel. The women of Norway longed for freedom and began to rebel.
Henrik Ibsen s play, A Doll House, displays what women were going through during that time. The
three act play is about Nora, a seemingly typical, submissive housewife, and Torvald, Nora s
condescending, banker husband. In his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nora realizes that she cannot stand living in Torvald s doll house anymore being his perfect little doll,
and she wants to become more than just a doll, so she leaves. Nora as Torvald s doll clearly
symbolizes how women were so submissive to their husbands during that time period in Norway.
Another symbol Ibsen uses throughout the play is the macaroons as a symbol of women s
independence, to show how they longed for freedom from their husbands. The first time the
macaroons are used as a symbol is in the beginning of the play when Torvald does not allow Nora to
eat macaroons. It is shown how Nora tries to hide them from her husband when she first arrives at
home. When Torvald asks when she arrived at home she says, Just now. (Putting the macaroon bag in
her pocket and wiping her mouth.) Do come in, Torvald, and see what I ve bought (Ibsen 44; Act 1).
Torvald doesn t allow Nora to eat macaroons, so Nora tries to hide them from him. In the beginning of
the play, Nora is submissive to Torvald and tries to be what he sees as a perfect spouse, although she
doesn t get treated like a spouse should be treated. She is controlled by Torvald because in his eyes, a
perfect spouse is a doll that he controls, which Nora tries to be, for example by hiding the macaroons
so he doesn t know that she disobeyed him. Nevertheless, Nora begins to eat the macaroons more
overtly later on in the play. Nora s first time

Memory Keepers Daughter Literary Analysis Essay
In the book The Memory Keeper s Daughter by Kim Edwards a doctor and his wife have twins and
the first child is a healthy boy but then the second child that comes out is a little girl with the signs of
down syndrome and he asks his Nurse to take the baby away to an institution while he tells his wife
the baby girl died. Through out the entire book it is a struggle for Dr. Henry s wife Norah to have
closure with the fact that her baby girl is said to be dead and she never saw her, held her, or cared for
her. Kim Edwards shows through the whole book that we are only human, the themes that life is
beyond our control and through the connection between suffering and joy. Edwards uses plot to set up

But David, you missed a lot of joy . In the theme that life is beyond our control the author Kim
Edwards has the book move through the years rapidly and at a fast pace in order to demonstrate how
life flys by. Throughout the book Edwards uses photography as a metaphor showing the character
David s growing obsession with taking photographs as a desperate attempt to make time stand still:
Photo after photo, as if he could stop time or make an image powerful enough to obscure the moment
when he turned and handed his daughter to Caroline Gill . Life may also feel as it is out of their
control with there being a constant aura of uncertainty or what if quality. That being said, the
characters in the end will always wonder what life would have been like if David had never given his
daughter away, but find it exhausting to wonder once they are brought together in the end after the
death of David. As Paul reflects at the end of the novel: His mother was right; he could never know
what might have happened. All he had were the facts . Life was also seeming to be out of anyone s
control with the struggle of the melancholy tone through the novel with Norah becoming more and
more depressed becoming that of a drinker in Paul s young life and then being so unhappy with her
marriage with David for him being so distant that she has an affair with a man while she is on a trip to
Aruba with her job. Even with the tone the author seems to have it progress in a

Classical Fencing Research Paper
Fencing is an outlet for personal expression. For many, it is a way of life. However, this this way of
life is dying out. There is much debate about classical fencing vs. Olympic fencing. Olympic fencing
uses much of the same equipment but is very different from classical fencing. Making many believe
that classical fencing is the way of the past.
The earliest depiction of fencing can be found in a relief in the temple of Medin at Habu, near Luxor
in Egypt. The temple was built by King Ramses III in about 1190 BC. This relief shows a match
between two fencers with their sword points covered and the swordsmen are wearing masks tied to
their wigs, large bib, and padding over their ears. This is shown in a carving from Egypt, along with ...

The Epee, or the Rapier, Was used mainly in Spain and Italy. Wrestling moves were coordinated with
fencing moves to help fencers be formidable against several opponents. It has a long thin blade with a
sharp edge and a vented basket for a hand guard. This became a favored weapon for dueling with the
entire body of the opponent being the target area. The rapiers of this time were edged, yet this was to
keep opponents from grabbing the blade, and would not be used to slash until much later. Shortly after
1471, dueling was banned by the Catholic Church. Spanish conquests brought fencing around the
world, and that turned fencing into a sport. Sometime in the 18th century a French school of fencing,
improved the sport into what we know now.
Olympic Fencing, is a sport in which two athletes battle with a rapier style sword. In Olympic fencing
there are three categories, Foil, épée and sabre, all of them having different weapons and target area.
Foil requires that the opponent be hit in center of the body, with the tip of the sword, whereas with
épée you can hit anywhere on the body, but still with only the tip. With sabre you must hit somewhere
in the upper body of the opponent, with anywhere on the blade. Since you can hit with anywhere on
the blade, rounds of sabre fencing are very

Second-Grade Classroom Practices
Catie Henell Musing ELEM 695 In the second grade classroom one of the largest issues that I face is
the differences of viewpoint between myself and my co op. Going into the classroom, there were
several practices that confused me. I continue to see things that leave me questioning their
effectiveness, and how they impact the students. This has left me feeling very frustrated. I often feel
like my hands are tied because it is not my classroom, and the students are used to this system and I
don t want them to be negatively impacted. One of the best examples of this in action is with my
student Nathaniel. Nathaniel is extremely skilled. He is the highest leveled reader a quickly picks up

Nathaniel often does not finish his work. This happens for a variety of reasons, but it is mainly
because he talks to the students around him. He will also play with his paper and pencils to avoid
doing the task efficiently. These behaviors cause the students around Nathaniel to struggle as they
cannot talk as they do their work. Nathaniel lack time management skills and will talk and play with
his paper until the teacher starts collecting his work. He often hands in unfinished work, despite being
able to do the various tasks. I often talk to my co op about Nathaniel as he has the ability to do many
of the tasks. She often calls him lazy and immature. When he exhibits these behavior, she moves
Nathaniel to an table by himself. Whenever I approach the issue, she consistently tells me to move
Nathaniel, so he is not a distraction to others. This is the only strategy she uses when addressing
Nathaniel. While it does help the students Nathaniel sits with to be more engaged, I do not think it is
the best solution. This isolates Nathaniel from his peers, and does not fix the trigger of Nathaniel

It has been noticed that most of the customer appointments have been missing in the center s system.

the system, it showed the customer number, but there was no more information about the services they

To identifying and looking to rectify an error, it has to investigate the root source of the predicament.
The procedure is alluded to as the root cause scrutiny. The rationale of the investigation is to annihilate

Collectivism, like individualism, has two extremes ranging from willing cooperation at one end to a
grudging acceptance at the other (Farnham D, 1993, p36 7) It is important to understand that no
company is strictly individualist or collectivist and the links between the two employee relations are
not incompatible with each other. Overall, BA has the collectivist approach because large emphasis is
on the group. One such example is the nurturing of cabin crew. Families of staff are created to work
the same shift patterns. This was pursued to encourage mutual support, make cabin crew feel
comfortable about their working environment, and as a result, facilitate the production of emotional
labour (I Grugulis and A Wilkinson, 2001, p13).

unitary approach in the sense that the different departments consist of teams of people working

emphasis is placed on employee training, which BA takes very seriously in order to create

Analysis Of Monkey Beach By Eden Robinson
Monkey Beach by Eden Robinson is a fictional novel that takes the reader on a cultural expedition
through the different layers of the Hiasla culture. As the book begins, Lisa, the protagonist, wakes up
as her parents are preparing to leave to help with the search to find her brother, who is missing at sea.
Lisa decides to join her parents, however, she cannot find a flight, so, she decides to take her family s
motorboat on a long journey along the Pacific Ocean coast. Along the way, she either almost drowns
and is rescued by her brother, almost drowns and gets a vision from her dead brother to send a
message to his girlfriend, or drowns. Her brother falls in love, but upon finding out that his soon to be
fiancé was raped by another man he takes a fishing job with the man and kills him on the ocean after
sinking their boat. The novel is structured in four chapters. The narrative is told in first person
perspective, Lisa s perspective. During the present narrative, Lisa reflects on events leading up to her
brother s disappearance and significant events in her life. Intertwined with this narrative is a series of
frequent and sometimes lengthy flashbacks which illustrate how her brother came to be lost at sea.
Robinson s style of writing depicts time in both a linear and abstract form; Robinson s style showcases
the validity of Haisla culture in modern time. During her search for her brother, Lisa encounters a

This phrase translates to repairing the world (What is Reform). In support of this mission, Reform
Jews strive to bring peace, liberty, and amity to all people of the world through the works of good and
charitable deeds. In addition to carrying out good deeds, Reform Jews meet weekly for the welcoming
of Sabbath on Friday evenings in services. Sabbath is seen as an everlasting sign of the covenant
between the Jewish people and God. It is often viewed as a point in which the Jewish people can
discard of the cares or burden of the previous week and welcome a peaceful state of rest (Fisher 285).
These services are offered at 7:00P.M. on Friday and 9:00A.M. on Saturday at Temple Beit HaYam.

why people believe Bart Simpson is similar to a philosophical theorist named Friedrich Nietzsche.
Bart being the bad boy of the Simpson s and Nietzsche being the bad boy of Philosophy. Conard says
that Bart does not take on the chaos like Nietzsche says but he is just an empty being of bad actions.
This argument is ridiculous; Bart Simpson is as creative as creative gets. In this chapter, Conard is first

Martin Luther King, Jr. fought for a better life for African Americans and that is exactly what

from what King was trying to... The enemy is no longer the southern bigot but the enemy is the man in
the mirror. I am not trying to say that Gandhi and King lead pointless lives all I am saying is that the
world is filled with bad and no matter how much good you do once you stop preaching the bad comes
back That is exactly the way that Bart and Nietzsche think they are worried about living a pointless
life so they go with all the bad in the world and run with it. They want their actions to artistically bring

Insurance Companies and Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy Introduction How did the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the
New Jersey emergency agencies and private insurance companies work together or did they? to help
victims of the horrific winds and water associated with Hurricane Sandy? This paper delves into that
issue. Insurance Companies and Hurricane Sandy From news reports it would appear that insurance
companies did not provide the emergency assistance that victims of Hurricane Sandy had hoped for.
This is not to say that all insurance companies failed to deliver the help that their policyholders
expected, but clearly some companies failed to deliver, and their efforts were not always in sync with
FEMA and the NF Office of Emergency Management. For example, as far as the National Flood
Insurance Program s efficiency in getting checks to homeowners, the payouts ...have not come quickly
enough (Van Embden, 2013). Even now, nearly three months since the storm passed, some
residents...are still waiting for their checks, Van Embden explains, noting that Jim Racanelli and his
family have spent three months as nomads because without a home (which was destroyed in the
hurricane), and without money to rebuild, they are out of luck (Van Embden). Typically insurance
companies have 30 days to respond to claims, but when a major storm causes emergency situations
beyond the normal needs, that deadline is suspended, Van Embden explains. Of the 350,000 homes in

Freudian Psychology In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
William Golding s novel, Lord of the Flies, focuses on a deserted island housing a small group of
boys. Sigmund Freud, an Austrian Neurologist, developed psychoanalysis and coined many terms and
ideas about the mind. Freudian psychology can be used to further understand Golding s characters,
Jack, Ralph, and Piggy. Jack, consumed by his impulsive urge to hunt, acts as Freud s id. Ralph
demonstrates the term ego as he logically attempts to resolve problems. Piggy, concerned with
morality and the words of his aunt, behaves as the superego. Jack, representing the Freudian term id,
acts impulsively to satisfy his basic needs with obsessive hunting. Once on the island, Jack focuses on
hunting and finding food to eat and keep himself alive. Like the id, Jack longs to fulfill his basic,
instinctual needs and receive short term satisfaction, rather than long term fulfillment. The freudian
term id is the part of the mind which deals with innate impulses and primary processes without
consideration. Instead of worrying himself with tasks that require thinking ahead, like making shelters
or fire, Jack s only concern is hunting. After the idea of being rescued is brought to his attention, Jack
had to think... before he could remember what rescue was. Rescue? Yes, of course! All the same, I d

Common Characters Of Hellman And Batman, Iron Man And Batman
What is a comic book hero, and why do they struggle so much with their identities? A common
definition for a hero is a person admired for achievements and noble qualities . However, as we all
may know comic book heroes are vastly different from this. Throughout our lives almost everybody
has been exposed to the comic book hero or superhero that our society seems so obsessed over. We
love to read about and watch these fantastical characters fly around and save the day. But there is one
unsettling truth that is seen in almost every comic book hero, their secret identity and everything it
holds. Perhaps the biggest secret for each of these heroes is their identity. This secret can mean life or
death not only them but all of their loved ones as well, and all that is protecting them is a little fabric
mask on their face. This since of fear that each character must live with is underlining theme that takes
place in virtually all comic book hero stories. So as the readers of these comics and watchers of these
movies, we must ask ourselves as how can such powerful people live in such a state of fear? In
addition to this, can this use of a heroes alter ego be compared to us normal people and our alter egos
that we create online? In order to answer how these heroes can live in such a state of fear I want to
look at two common characters from both comics and the movies, Iron Man and Batman. First I would
like to clarify that while comic books are such a rich part of our history, due

Dry Tortugas National Park Research Paper
I went to Dry Tortugas National Park this summer. It s the farthest Florida Key and is at least a 70 mile
boat or plane trip. This year is the park s 100th anniversary and I was so excited, and scared, to go. It
was established because once Ponce de León caught around 160 turtles there. Also, what makes this
park unique is that 99% of it is under water and since the water is so shallow there are many
shipwrecks. I love fish and all but seaweed, on the other hand, is one of my biggest fears.
The next day, I woke up and went to the place that the ferry would pick me up at. The park provided
the ferry ride. The ferry was named the Yankee Freedom III. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would
be and it looked pretty nice inside. When I sat down, a few moments later a girl named Chloe sat next

I could see Fort Jefferson, the moat around it, the islands, and how shallow the water actually was.
Around 2 minutes later we finally landed. The first thing I did was grab my bags and went into Fort
Jefferson. On my way there I passed the boat docks. Inside of Fort Jefferson, there were lots of trees,
signs, benches, people, and a lot of things and I had no idea what they were.
After that, I went to the area that I could set up my tent in. I ended up next to Chole. I decided that
since it was still slightly early, it would be a good idea to go snorkeling. I asked Chloe if she wanted to
go with me because it was shallow water, which meant the seaweed was close to me. We threw on our
swimsuits in our tents, walked to the water and dove in it.
We snorkeled around the island and saw some Amberjack, Grouper, Blackfin Tuna, Bluefin Tuna,

Nursing Bras Essay
What is a nursing bra
Bras for breast feeding are generally made without underwire, which would cause further annoyance
only to a woman who has just given birth. They generally have detachable cups, so that the woman
can breastfeed more easily and more quickly when the child is necessary, without taking off her bra.
How to choose one
These bras must still be comfortable and safe, for which they must be made of cotton or materials
which do not cause allergies. Moreover, if you buy one of these bras for breastfeeding is better that

The breast fed babies are healthier. Breast milk contains all the substances that prevent the formation
of harmful bacteria in the gut, which can cause gastrointestinal infections and diarrhea.
Children breastfed contract fewer ear infections, less respiratory infections and have a lower risk of
developing allergies, cancers, childhood diabetes and obesity.
In these children, in addition, the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is extremely small.
Breastfeeding a premature baby reduces the risk of developing necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).
Breast milk is pure and free of bacteria and has anti infectious.

U.s. Healthcare Systems Of The United States
U.S. Healthcare Systems
The United States has a broad history of diversity and challenges that no other country has faced. One
of those challenges has been providing healthcare for its citizens. Healthcare in the United States
started out with many religious groups that wanted to help those in need. This form of care for the
people of this country has grown to a healthcare system that accounts for 3.2 trillion dollars of the
nation s gross domestic products (CMS (2016). This staggering number has grown each year and
clearly shows the impact that it can have on the economy. As the years have passed by, so has the
political landscape. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law by President Barack Obama
on March 23, 2010 with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Patient s diets have changed over the last 100 years and have created a large increase in chronic
illnesses and higher needs for medical care. This demand has created the need for a much greater
system of healthcare that includes hospitals, providers, and insurance companies. Over the years, there
have been a lot of changes to improve healthcare. With all of the spending and advancements in health
care, the United States is still very behind in health care costs compared to other countries in the
world. According to Stoltzfus Pollack (2016) the median household income in the United States in
2014 was $53,657,10 so the average household with a median income would have spent almost 46
percent of its income on health care were costs and income evenly distributed across the population.
These numbers are staggering in comparison to other countries and even worse put the United States
at the bottom of the list for healthy countries. These numbers have all proven the overall impact that
the U.S health care system has on the economy. In 2017, Current President Donald Trump vowed to
make a major change to the ACA that had been placed into law seven years ago. During this period
when Republicans tried to tally the votes needed to make changes the U.S stock markets projected the
uncertainty of the votes. These numbers represented by the U.S economy projected just how big of an
impact the health care system can have on the economy.

Multiculturalism In Music Essay
Visualize in your head a rock band, and a rapper. What kind of clothes are they wearing. What lyric
styles are they singing in? And what color are they? Ongoing stereotypes suggest that the rock band is
a group of white musicians and the rapper would be black. However, examples from the past and
present shows that these stereotypes are untrue. Music is defined as The art of organizing tones to
produce a coherent sequence of sounds to elicit an aesthetic response in a listener (Morris, 864). This

It gave them a feeling of freedom and joy that had been lacking from previous music styles. Although
rock became an instant hit with the youth, the music caused displeasure in the adult world. Rock was
criticized for juvenile delinquency to loosened sexual standards (R amp;RG, 27). The most notorious
example of what adults didn t like in rock music can be found in Elvis Presley. Elvis was the first
white performer to expose an audience to rock music. However, the free will style Elvis exhibited was
not a real big hit with the adults, where he was condemned as a whirling dervish of sex.
Rock music then went on a tear, evolving into many different styles and forms. As rock matured and

technology was developed, more integrated sounds were brought into rock, eventually resulting into
such music as pop and disco. Music was now able to have artificial beats that traditional instruments

How did the different kings of the 400s effect The Christian faith? What were the positives and
negatives of each?
The Christian faith was effected differently dependent upon the king at the time, and the changes they
decided to make. Sometimes for the positive and sometimes for the negative. Originally the Church
and the Roman Empire in the East worked closely together. By the mid 400 s the commander in chief,
who was named, Odovacar, was king of the Goths, (he deposed the Western emperor in 476.) Then
Theidoric became king of the eastern Goths, he managed to keep the peace, however he had one major
different religious belief. Thai difference was that the Romans were allied to the Church of Rome; the
Goths, Theodoric included, were Arians. Theodoric granted religious freedom to all. Clovis, king of
the Franks was baptized and had thousands of his soldiers be baptized with him. (The Franks were the
only Catholics.) Clovis used the Church to unite the people, and had a set order of religious rituals. As
the Franks spread Arianism died out. However then disagreements arose amongst the bishop of Rome
and patriarch of Constantinople of theological matter. So Denis the Short created the canon law, he
also changed lists of the saints, and he started a new calendar one dating from the year of Christ s birth
(what we use today.)

Blue Mountain Resorts were first built in 1941, and it is the largest family operated ski resort in
Canada. The major problem in this case is that the CEO of the Blue Mountain Resorts has to decide
whether to install facilitates or not for the night skiing in 1979 1980 winter skiing season. Maintaining
comfortable capacity at ski resort is very important in this field of market. The capacity depends on

Among 2 intermediate levels, one advanced, and one beginner and intermediate level, one should be
chosen. I suggest the intermediate level to be opened since the night ski uses would mostly
intermediate high level users rather than beginners, and advanced level at night would be somehow
dangerous. The operating cost would be $1000 per night, adding seasonal allocation of $20,000 fixed
cost, $7.75 liability insurance per 1000 skiers, and $5000 for promotional cost. Therefore, the cost of
operating night skiing is, $1000*120days+$20,000+$5000+$7.75*30= $145,232.50 per year.
$135,000+$145,232.50=$280,232.50. The frequency of night skiing in cross tabulation of pass holder
status was mostly 1 10 times per year. They will come for two or more days. The profit calculation
will be approximately 2days* 5 times* $5.50=$55.0 per people for a year. 30,000 people*30%*$55=
$495,000 per year. This profit exceeds the cost, so the company should invest in facilitating the night
skiing.
The next step is to decide the type of the season pass and the ticket price. It could offer the special
night skiing season pass or combine it with the original day time season pass. For example, three types
of the passes which are; day pass, night pass, or combined pass. On the night skiing survey, fair price
showed to be $5 for midweek nights and $6 for weekend nights. Most people anticipated their skiing

The Importance of Sleep Essay
Sleep is an extremely interesting phenomenon in which the mind almost completely departs from the
usual realm of consciousness. It is distinguished from quiet wakefulness and a decreased ability to
react to stimuli where we become less aware of our surroundings. However, it is more easily reversed
than being in hibernation or a coma. It is a function that has been extensively researched by many.
After all, we would not have evolved a mechanism that forces us to spend one third of our lives
sleeping unless sleep did us some good. What good does it do tough? Over the years, many theories
have been proposed as to why we need sleep. The simplest is that it saves energy. An individual s

A sleep deprived driver, believe it or not, is as dangerous as a drunk driver. Sleep also strengthens
learning and memory, including both motor skills and language related tasks. When you learn
something, your memory improves if you go to sleep within the next 3 hours, and it deteriorates after
a sleepless night. A good night s sleep can also improve learning the next day. When people learn a
new difficult motor task, such as a video game skill, the brain areas that are active during the learning
become reactivated during one s sleep that night. The brain replays the same patterns they had during
the day, only faster. The amount of functioning and activity in those areas during sleep predicts the
amount of improvement the next day. In learning, wakefulness and sleep play complementary roles.
Researchers have demonstrated that learning strengthens the appropriate synapses during wakefulness
and weakens other synapses during sleep. Therefore, REM sleep is crucial for organizing pieces and
the associations between them needed for forming lasting memories. Organizing these pieces within
your brain requires information gained through learning. Learning is a complicated process that is
completed subconsciously by gaining new knowledge and skills and modifying previous ones. Three
basic parts of learning include acquisition, consolidation, and recall. During acquisition, the brain
receives information and stores it within its neural circuits as memory. This

the gender roles between the males and females in the story and to prove how women were treated

Jews were killed just for being who they were, a time when a person with a yellow star was
condemned to certain death. We should remember that a little over seventy years ago, there were six
million people obliterated from this earth. The rotting, stacked corpses and the children screaming
with excruciating pain when torn away from their mothers have taught us the lesson of fear and
prejudice that I relevant to this day. We remember those innocent Jews who were treated cruelly just
for being human beings. We owe our condolences to the people who died, got tortured in
concentration camps and those who escaped and saw their loved ones dying at their feet. Finally, we
should remember the Holocaust and Anne Frank s agonizing story so we recall the memories and pass
them to our children.

Latin America and the Catholic Church Essay
Running head: LATIN AMERICAAND THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
xxxx
HUMN xxx xxxx February 11, 2011
In 1983, Pope John Paul II visited Nicaragua in response to word that a growing alliance between
priests and Marxists revolutionaries was emerging in Latin America. Historically, the Catholic Church
in Europe had taken a strong anti communist stance. And so the emerging alliance troubled Pope John
Paul II despite the fact that priests claimed they were simply doing what Christ would do in
championing the interests of the poor.
When news began spreading throughout Nicaragua that Pope John Paul II would be visiting, the
reform minded Catholics of the country became hopeful that the pope would somehow lend his
support to the revolutionary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
6). But liberation theology, according to conservative critics, is a type of socialist Christianity. Its
philosophical underpinnings suggest that change comes through political activism and even war and
revolution if peaceful means have failed. In addition, liberation theologians view sin as the root of
poverty and capitalism as the most ruinous form of sin on earth. Thus, Liberation Theologists argue
that capitalism should be confronted as pure evil and replaced by a more just and equitable socialist
system. The Pope unequivocally denounced these ideas as ideologically misguided. Many Nicaraguan
Catholics were disappointed with the Pope s position on political action because they felt like he
missed a chance to bolster the revolution and support much needed change for the people. They had
lived under years of tyranny and oppression at the hands of the conservative regime. And thousands of
innocent Nicaraguan citizens had suffered gross social injustices and even death at the hands of their
oppressors. If the Pope had supported their revolutionary cause, the people would have enjoyed the
backing of the Catholic Church. And if that had occurred, it would have provided the people with a
sense of spiritual support in their fight for freedom and equality. But the Pope s denouncement of

The Case Of A Builder Carrying Out Work At New South Wales...
Introduction
In the case of a builder carrying out work in New South Wales under a construction contract for a
commercial office space, legal principles would need to be understood and followed by the builder to
ensure that both the building of and the finished project fits the imposed legal requirements. In New
South Wales, the NSW Commercial Building Code specifies the criteria that all contemporary
commercial buildings and developments must comply with. For a project the size of the $20,000,000
commercial office space development there would undoubtedly be a series of legal principles that
must be complied with. A Contractual agreement and details such as the construction period, insurance
specifics, allowances, defects liability period, date of commencement and practical completion,
payment and much more must be comprehended by all parties (particularly the builder) to ensure the
project is built to the correct standard and within the designated time specifications.
The facts
Latent defects are discovered after the $20,000,000 commercial office space construction project is
completed by the builder.
The plaintiff holds that the latent defects in the office space are a result of defective building works
and thus claims that there has been a breach of contract as the builder acted negligently as they had a
duty to take reasonable care in the construction of the offices.
The plaintiff therefore seeks to claim pure economic loss and sue the builder for damages.

Review Of Ordeal Of The Longhouse By Daniel Richter
Daniel Richter, an American historian, completed his literary work, Ordeal of the Longhouse in 1992.
His purpose of writing this book was to illustrate the Native Americans side of the colonization of
America and their interactions with the new colonizers, while emphasizing the ordeals that they faced
at that time. Those ordeals included: disease, economic dependency, imperial struggles, and issues
with their neighbors (2). Richter was out to prove that despite and because of these struggles, Iroquois
culture, politics, and diplomacy evolved in the 17th and 18th century through their interactions with
different groups of European peoples. These interactions have shaped Native American traditions as
well as American diplomacy as we know it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He discusses one instance where the English joined in an alliance with the Iroquois in order to further
an anti French sentiment, which would then aid the English in maintaining control of the land and
trade. I do not believe that the advantages that the Iroquois gained from these cultivated ties, if any,
were clearly presented in the book. Furthermore, not only does it seem like the Indians were not in
control of their own destiny and actions at times, but also that they were naive to look positively on
the diplomatic gifts from the Europeans. For example, in 1673, the Dutch military gave the Mohawks
a diplomatic present in hopes that the Mohawks would tell the commander of the state to put a stop to
all correspondence with the Jesuit and Frenchmen from Canada (135). In the midst of the different
European nations struggles with one another, it is difficult to see where the Iroquois really come into
play and make a case for their own identity until the 18th

Honor And Certainty In Shakespeare s Hamlet
In the play, Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Hamlet struggles to restore honour and certainty in the
kingdom. Hamlet s father, the true King of Denmark was murdered by Claudius so that Claudius could
become the king, this was seen as dishonorable as Claudius was the King s brother, and the right to the
throne was not his. Hamlet finds out about the murder and feels he must avenge his father to restore
honour and certainty in the kingdom.
The present King, Claudius, is questioning Hamlet s odd behaviour because he feels Hamlet s new and
strange behaviour could be harmful to him and his position. So he asks Polonius, the Lord
Chamberlain, to spy on Hamlet to resolve the matter. While hiding behind an arras in Gertrude s room
to listen to the dialogue between Ophelia and Hamlet, he reveals his location by calling out for help,
Hamlet realizing there is someone behind the tapestry and suspecting it to be Claudius withdraws his
sword and stabs the hidden Polonius resulting in polonius s death, which assisted in ophelia going
mad, and also Laertes, Polonius s son seeking revenge on hamlet, which makes Hamlet s quest for
honour and certainty even harder to complete. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Grooming CFOs to be CEOs
CFO as CEO Introduction Given the increasing complexity of business and the need to financially
quantify risk and opportunities so options are clearly understood while also operating in uncertainty,
the progression of CFOs to CEOs will continue to accelerate. Reviewing the two articles How a CFO
can graduate to CEO (Brewis, 1999) and Do CFOs really make good CEOs (Picker, 1989) illustrate
foundational points to support the contention that CFOs will continue to be promoted and excel in
their roles as CEOs. How CFOs are Prepared to become CEOs One of the most interesting articles in
the series read to complete this analysis is Do CFOs really make good CEOs (Picker, 1989). This
article highlights how critical it is for a CFO to understand the organizational structure of their
business, while also understanding how best to create a teamwork framework that can enable the
accomplishment of complex objectives (Picker, 1989). This article shows how D. Wayne Calloway
was able to save PepsiCo as a business by having in depth knowledge of operations and the financial
trade offs critical to keeping them operating. He also was able to transform many of the most costly
operations in the company while reducing investments in fixed assets (Picker, 1989). The article also
points to how well Robert Crandall interpreted the impact of deregulation on the airline industry,
while also making the transition from CFO to CEO. Robert Crandall was one of the most effective
CEOs in the history

Chaldeans In America
A refugee is generally thought of as an individual who flees their country due to (but not limited to)
racial, religious, or ideological persecution. These people often leave war torn countries where
violence and tyranny strips the very freedoms and opportunities that are the inalienable backbone of
the United States. It is no surprise, then, that immigrants from every stretch of the planet have settled
in America, freely practicing their beliefs and often playing a critical role in the entrepreneurial
development of our capitalist foundation. One such group is the Chaldeans. Hailing from small
villages in the north of Iraq a place historically referred to as Mesopotamia where the ancient
Babylonians once made their home, the Chaldeans are a Catholic group of people who speak Aramaic,
the language of Christ. Throughout the last century, the introduction of Saddam Hussein and the ...

The history of the Chaldeans dates back to 605 BC when King Nebuchadnezzar, the king of the
Babylonians, conquered Jerusalem, creating an empire that would stretch to the end of the

began to spread sharia law (the word of the Hadith and the Quran) throughout the Middle East. Still,
many sects chose to remain loyal to the Roman Catholic

Three Stages Of Play By Sara Smilansky
Sara Smilansky Physical/Manipulative
Smilansky developed three stages of play. She was initially working together with Jean Piaget, but
they went separate ways, so she expanded on it and developed these theories to: functional play,
constructive play, dramatic play. The best description of Smilansky s functional play is when, babies
are throwing their toys out of the cot time after another, or are banging their spoon on the table for
hours non stop, and this is actually a way of them showing that they re playing. Adults and Teenagers
also use functional play when confronted with a new object or activity to explore. Once they have
mastered the objects or activity then they start to really play.
Symbolic play is when the child can use an object ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidence of onlooker play is when a child or children are near a group of other children and begin to
follow the actions or copying what they are doing while playing.
Parallel play This is commonly found in toddler years and sometimes into the earlier years of
preschool. Children will now be able tolerate other children standing near them when playing and
occasionally when they re using the same equipment. However, they will have a limited amount of
meaningful interactions with other children.
Associative play This is first seen usually in the early preschool years. Children will begin to play and
talk with each other in dramatic play situations where roles may be taken on. Even if these roles are
usually not sustained for any length of time.
Cooperative play Cooperative play occurs in the later preschool years. Children are able to take on
roles and sustain them for the duration of the play. The group of children have agreed upon goals and
roles for the play. In this stage of play, leaders and followers emerge within groups. Roles are
delegated and tasks distributed within the group. There is a common goal and children will play
together in a more complex

Summary Of Susan Cain s Quiet
Susan Cain s Quiet argues for the power of introverts. In her book, introverts are the main subject of
her book. Who are introverts? What makes them different? Those where the main questions I had
while reading this book. In this book Susan Cain tells her experience being an introvert, how she once
puked before a presentation, she also tells the story of other introverts, how they maintained being
introverts in a world filled with extroverts that can do what for introverts seems impossible without
having to think twice about it. Introverts are often mistaken as shy or quiet, mostly because they keep
themselves, they see thing in a different light. Introverts and others often view their quietness or the
way they like to be alone as a second class personality trait, somewhere between a ... Show more

They always try to find a connection to things no matter what. She also compares introverted child to
orchids, orchids are need to be attended to carefully in other to grow to its full limits. When I think
about her opinion on introverts even though she s one herself she prescribes them as scared, and that
may not be the message she s trying to get through, but even with the introverts she describe in the
book, they are often hiding, or mimicking the people/environment surrounding them and don t show
who they are until presented with a challenge. I however disagree with this point, many of the most
successful people in our world are introverts ranging from Abraham Lincoln, Eleanor Roosevelt to
Albert Einstein, Bill Gates and Rosa Parks. These are strong spoken respected people in our society
today and while they choose to do thing differently, it doesn t mean there are not content with who
they are, and because she had a different experience with being introverted doesn t mean the same

Creating a shared vision A vision of the project unites professionals with different backgrounds and
agendas to a common aspiration. It helps motivate members to subordinate their individual agendas
and do what is best for the project (Gray Larson, 2006, p. 356). As Amber Briggs creates her team, a
shared vision is an essential part of creating a great anniversary celebration. After all, if some
members envision a picnic at the park while others envision a black tie, sit down dinner at the Ritz, the
road back from either extreme will be long and troublesome. An effective vision must be challenging
but realistic, and a source of inspiration to others. It must be a vision that the project manager is
passionate about and can communicate to others. The University of Maryland created such a vision for
its 150th anniversary celebration. Once agreed upon and put in writing, the vision became part of
every team meeting and the activities of every department on campus. In a sense, the project vision
was a statement of the shared goals of the coordinating committee, but it was also the source of
inspiration and continued excitement about the 150th anniversary through the months of celebratory
activities. The vision statement inspired the theme logo and each of the events

Las Vegas Jackrabbits
Yep, I am referring to Las Vegas, Nevada in the U.S. I just had to share this crazy story. If you think
Vegas had problems with gambling, crazy tourists and a never ending nightlife you are absolutely
right but now they also have problems with bunnies. A couple of years ago in 2015 a Las Vegas
resident came home from work to find this teenage daughter sitting on the lawn playing with six
bunny rabbits. What was surprising was that these visitors were not your usual dun colored jackrabbits
that live in the Nevada desert but real domestic type bunnies. Being animal lovers they let the rabbits
stay and put extra carrots on the grocery list. However these bunnies had plans to become a
community and in two month time these people has 24 bunnies

  • 2. The Is The Right One For Me Beating BPD In beginning this project, I struggled with choosing a diagnosis that would be the right one for me to attempt to understand. Mental illness is a topic that has plagued my family for generations. It has been a common theme in every relationship I have ever had. Although initially I assumed this circumstance would make it immensely easy to choose a topic for this paper, as it turned out it was the opposite. I first considered Oppositional Defiant Disorder, as I thought surely this is the right topic so that I may take my findings to the father of my children to show him that he is desperately in need of accepting the help I feel he needs. A person exhibiting an impairment in identity might criticize himself excessively, have deep and troubling experiences of emptiness or possibly even experience dissociative states under extreme stress. A person experiencing an impairment with self direction would exhibit signs of inability to follow through or possibly even set goals, and have no drive in regards to career plans. The Diagnostic criteria for this disorder demand that 5 of 9 criteria are met. Often a person with this disorder will exhibit signs of suicidal tendencies or self mutilation. Other symptoms may include, but are not limited to reacting in advance to a possibility of abandonment. The mere thought of losing a relationship or a person who is viewed in some way as a caretaker is enough to cause significant changes in their self image and therefore their behavior. These people are extremely sensitive to changes in their environment, and it does not matter if those changes are announced in advance or sprung by surprise. Energy drinks and sport drinks are two segments in the larger market of soft drinks. Contrary to popular belief, energy drinks and sport drinks do not compete against each other due to their targeting of different consumer needs. Sport drinks are mainly used for nutritional needs that arise before, during and after physical activity. Sport drinks are based on the oral rehydration therapy, which requires drinking a concoction of water, sugar, and salt for the purposes of rehydration (Cohen, 2013). Although a niche product, sport drinks are beginning to enter into the mass market, where consumers are now purchasing sport drinks for regular consumption unassociated with physical activity. Experts project that the sport drink industry could grow to more than 9.3 billion dollars by the end of 2017 (Cohen, 2013). However, consumers are becoming to a small degree unsatisfied with the recycling of old formulas when it comes to sports drink. Consumers now want sport drinks to have a low calorie count as well as infusion of vitamins and protein. Gatorade recently launched a product line that incorporated whey protein into their drink formula, however, the product extension launch was deemed as unsuccessful due to lack of product awareness. These are people who actively play sports as a hobby or professionally. 65 percent of buyers in this market are under the age of 35 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Klc Case Study I The clients visiting Kingsford Legal Centre (KLC) are often disadvantaged and experiencing hardships in their life, their needs sometimes slip through the net and were not listened or catered by the society, and this usually places them in a vulnerable situation. The opposing party may, source any information that is relevant to the client, to leverage their own position. KLC takes on a proactive approach by introducing confidentiality standards and procedures, aligning with client legal privilege, thus facilitates a confidential and protected communication between the client and the staffs of KLC. Symbolism in A Doll House Jasmine Shughoury Stoltzfus IB World Lit 1 May 2014 WL#1 Word Count: 1,456 The Use of Symbolism in A Doll House Author Margaret Trudeau once said, I can t be a rose in any man s lapel ( I Can t Be ). This quote expresses exactly what was going through many women s minds during the 1800 s in Norway. Women had let their husbands control their lives for ages before the 1800 s. Soon, they could no longer stand being the rose in their husbands lapel. The women of Norway longed for freedom and began to rebel. Henrik Ibsen s play, A Doll House, displays what women were going through during that time. Nora realizes that she cannot stand living in Torvald s doll house anymore being his perfect little doll, and she wants to become more than just a doll, so she leaves. Nora as Torvald s doll clearly symbolizes how women were so submissive to their husbands during that time period in Norway. Another symbol Ibsen uses throughout the play is the macaroons as a symbol of women s independence, to show how they longed for freedom from their husbands. The first time the macaroons are used as a symbol is in the beginning of the play when Torvald does not allow Nora to eat macaroons. It is shown how Nora tries to hide them from her husband when she first arrives at home. When Torvald asks when she arrived at home she says, Just now. (Putting the macaroon bag in her pocket and wiping her mouth.) Do come in, Torvald, and see what I ve bought (Ibsen 44; Act 1). Torvald doesn t allow Nora to eat macaroons, so Nora tries to hide them from him. In the beginning of the play, Nora is submissive to Torvald and tries to be what he sees as a perfect spouse, although she doesn t get treated like a spouse should be treated. She is controlled by Torvald because in his eyes, a perfect spouse is a doll that he controls, which Nora tries to be, for example by hiding the macaroons so he doesn t know that she disobeyed him. In the theme that life is beyond our control the author Kim Edwards has the book move through the years rapidly and at a fast pace in order to demonstrate how life flys by. Throughout the book Edwards uses photography as a metaphor showing the character David s growing obsession with taking photographs as a desperate attempt to make time stand still: Photo after photo, as if he could stop time or make an image powerful enough to obscure the moment when he turned and handed his daughter to Caroline Gill . Life may also feel as it is out of their control with there being a constant aura of uncertainty or what if quality. That being said, the characters in the end will always wonder what life would have been like if David had never given his daughter away, but find it exhausting to wonder once they are brought together in the end after the death of David. As Paul reflects at the end of the novel: His mother was right; he could never know what might have happened. All he had were the facts . Life was also seeming to be out of anyone s control with the struggle of the melancholy tone through the novel with Norah becoming more and more depressed becoming that of a drinker in Paul s young life and then being so unhappy with her marriage with David for him being so distant that she has an affair with a man while she is on a trip to Aruba with her job. The rapiers of this time were edged, yet this was to keep opponents from grabbing the blade, and would not be used to slash until much later. Shortly after 1471, dueling was banned by the Catholic Church. Spanish conquests brought fencing around the world, and that turned fencing into a sport. Overall, BA has the collectivist approach because large emphasis is on the group. One such example is the nurturing of cabin crew. Families of staff are created to work the same shift patterns. • 18. Insurance Companies and Hurricane Sandy Hurricane Sandy Introduction How did the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the New Jersey emergency agencies and private insurance companies work together or did they? to help victims of the horrific winds and water associated with Hurricane Sandy? This paper delves into that issue. Insurance Companies and Hurricane Sandy From news reports it would appear that insurance companies did not provide the emergency assistance that victims of Hurricane Sandy had hoped for. This is not to say that all insurance companies failed to deliver the help that their policyholders expected, but clearly some companies failed to deliver, and their efforts were not always in sync with FEMA and the NF Office of Emergency Management. For example, as far as the National Flood Insurance Program s efficiency in getting checks to homeowners, the payouts ...have not come quickly enough (Van Embden, 2013). Even now, nearly three months since the storm passed, some residents...are still waiting for their checks, Van Embden explains, noting that Jim Racanelli and his family have spent three months as nomads because without a home (which was destroyed in the hurricane), and without money to rebuild, they are out of luck (Van Embden). Typically insurance companies have 30 days to respond to claims, but when a major storm causes emergency situations beyond the normal needs, that deadline is suspended, Van Embden explains. • 19. Freudian Psychology In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies William Golding s novel, Lord of the Flies, focuses on a deserted island housing a small group of boys. Sigmund Freud, an Austrian Neurologist, developed psychoanalysis and coined many terms and ideas about the mind. Freudian psychology can be used to further understand Golding s characters, Jack, Ralph, and Piggy. Jack, consumed by his impulsive urge to hunt, acts as Freud s id. Ralph demonstrates the term ego as he logically attempts to resolve problems. Piggy, concerned with morality and the words of his aunt, behaves as the superego. Jack, representing the Freudian term id, acts impulsively to satisfy his basic needs with obsessive hunting. Once on the island, Jack focuses on hunting and finding food to eat and keep himself alive. Like the id, Jack longs to fulfill his basic, instinctual needs and receive short term satisfaction, rather than long term fulfillment. The freudian term id is the part of the mind which deals with innate impulses and primary processes without consideration. Instead of worrying himself with tasks that require thinking ahead, like making shelters or fire, Jack s only concern is hunting. After the idea of being rescued is brought to his attention, Jack had to think... before he could remember what rescue was. Rescue? Yes, of course! All the same, I d like to catch a pig first... We want meat (Golding 62). Jack seems to have lost all trace of complex thought, as he struggles with the idea of rescue. He instead relies on his instinctive urge of ... • 20. Common Characters Of Hellman And Batman, Iron Man And Batman What is a comic book hero, and why do they struggle so much with their identities? A common definition for a hero is a person admired for achievements and noble qualities . However, as we all may know comic book heroes are vastly different from this. Throughout our lives almost everybody has been exposed to the comic book hero or superhero that our society seems so obsessed over. We love to read about and watch these fantastical characters fly around and save the day. But there is one unsettling truth that is seen in almost every comic book hero, their secret identity and everything it holds. Perhaps the biggest secret for each of these heroes is their identity. This secret can mean life or death not only them but all of their loved ones as well, and all that is protecting them is a little fabric mask on their face. This since of fear that each character must live with is underlining theme that takes place in virtually all comic book hero stories. So as the readers of these comics and watchers of these movies, we must ask ourselves as how can such powerful people live in such a state of fear? In addition to this, can this use of a heroes alter ego be compared to us normal people and our alter egos that we create online? In order to answer how these heroes can live in such a state of fear I want to look at two common characters from both comics and the movies, Iron Man and Batman. This year is the park s 100th anniversary and I was so excited, and scared, to go. It was established because once Ponce de León caught around 160 turtles there. Also, what makes this park unique is that 99% of it is under water and since the water is so shallow there are many shipwrecks. I love fish and all but seaweed, on the other hand, is one of my biggest fears. The next day, I woke up and went to the place that the ferry would pick me up at. The park provided the ferry ride. How did the different kings of the 400s effect The Christian faith? What were the positives and negatives of each? The Christian faith was effected differently dependent upon the king at the time, and the changes they decided to make. Sometimes for the positive and sometimes for the negative. Originally the Church and the Roman Empire in the East worked closely together. By the mid 400 s the commander in chief, who was named, Odovacar, was king of the Goths, (he deposed the Western emperor in 476.) Then Theidoric became king of the eastern Goths, he managed to keep the peace, however he had one major different religious belief. Thai difference was that the Romans were allied to the Church of Rome; the Goths, Theodoric included, were Arians. Theodoric granted religious freedom to all. Clovis, king of the Franks was baptized and had thousands of his soldiers be baptized with him. (The Franks were the only Catholics.) Clovis used the Church to unite the people, and had a set order of religious rituals. As the Franks spread Arianism died out. However then disagreements arose amongst the bishop of Rome and patriarch of Constantinople of theological matter. Sleep also strengthens learning and memory, including both motor skills and language related tasks. When you learn something, your memory improves if you go to sleep within the next 3 hours, and it deteriorates after a sleepless night. A good night s sleep can also improve learning the next day. When people learn a new difficult motor task, such as a video game skill, the brain areas that are active during the learning become reactivated during one s sleep that night. The brain replays the same patterns they had during the day, only faster. The amount of functioning and activity in those areas during sleep predicts the amount of improvement the next day. In learning, wakefulness and sleep play complementary roles. Researchers have demonstrated that learning strengthens the appropriate synapses during wakefulness and weakens other synapses during sleep. Therefore, REM sleep is crucial for organizing pieces and the associations between them needed for forming lasting memories. Organizing these pieces within your brain requires information gained through learning. Learning is a complicated process that is completed subconsciously by gaining new knowledge and skills and modifying previous ones. • 37. Sacrifice by Fire Essay Sacrifice by fire. The pleading children, the debilitating elderly, and the cynical women all have the same look of fear when they hear the word Holocaust. Approximately six million brave Jews were brutally murdered during the dreadful era of the Holocaust. These Jews were ordinary humans who hadn t committed a crime, hadn t encouraged any riots and hadn t leveled any threats. They were citizens of their home countries who had the capability of contributing several intellectual achievements to the world. In the concentration camps, they were tortured, both physically and psychologically, starved, beaten, forced to live like animals and literally worked to death. Both Anne Frank and her sister Margot died of typhus at the Bergen Belsen concentration camp in the year of 1945. Their mother died from hunger and exhaustion in Auschwitz in January 1945. Otto Frank, the father, was the only family member who had survived the horrors of the Auschwitz concentration camp. Even though the times of Holocaust are relatively recent, the story of the Holocaust is not as simple as it may appear. For many people this time will be something they will never overlook, because it was a ferocious battle for survival. It was a time of challenges and disputes for the right to live, a time when Jews were killed just for being who they were, a time when a person with a yellow star was condemned to certain death. We should remember that a little over seventy years ago, there were six million people obliterated from this earth. The rotting, stacked corpses and the children screaming with excruciating pain when torn away from their mothers have taught us the lesson of fear and prejudice that I relevant to this day. We remember those innocent Jews who were treated cruelly just for being human beings. We owe our condolences to the people who died, got tortured in concentration camps and those who escaped and saw their loved ones dying at their feet. Finally, we should remember the Holocaust and Anne Frank s agonizing story so we recall the memories and pass them to our children. The word ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Latin America and the Catholic Church Essay Running head: LATIN AMERICAAND THE CATHOLIC CHURCH xxxx HUMN xxx xxxx February 11, 2011 In 1983, Pope John Paul II visited Nicaragua in response to word that a growing alliance between priests and Marxists revolutionaries was emerging in Latin America. Historically, the Catholic Church in Europe had taken a strong anti communist stance. And so the emerging alliance troubled Pope John Paul II despite the fact that priests claimed they were simply doing what Christ would do in championing the interests of the poor. When news began spreading throughout Nicaragua that Pope John Paul II would be visiting, the reform minded Catholics of the country became hopeful that the pope would somehow lend his support to the revolutionary ... Its philosophical underpinnings suggest that change comes through political activism and even war and revolution if peaceful means have failed. In addition, liberation theologians view sin as the root of poverty and capitalism as the most ruinous form of sin on earth. Thus, Liberation Theologists argue that capitalism should be confronted as pure evil and replaced by a more just and equitable socialist system. The Pope unequivocally denounced these ideas as ideologically misguided. Many Nicaraguan Catholics were disappointed with the Pope s position on political action because they felt like he missed a chance to bolster the revolution and support much needed change for the people. They had lived under years of tyranny and oppression at the hands of the conservative regime. And thousands of innocent Nicaraguan citizens had suffered gross social injustices and even death at the hands of their oppressors. If the Pope had supported their revolutionary cause, the people would have enjoyed the backing of the Catholic Church. And if that had occurred, it would have provided the people with a sense of spiritual support in their fight for freedom and equality. But the Pope s denouncement of Liberation Theology and the ... • 39. The Case Of A Builder Carrying Out Work At New South Wales... Introduction In the case of a builder carrying out work in New South Wales under a construction contract for a commercial office space, legal principles would need to be understood and followed by the builder to ensure that both the building of and the finished project fits the imposed legal requirements. In New South Wales, the NSW Commercial Building Code specifies the criteria that all contemporary commercial buildings and developments must comply with. For a project the size of the $20,000,000 commercial office space development there would undoubtedly be a series of legal principles that must be complied with. A Contractual agreement and details such as the construction period, insurance specifics, allowances, defects liability period, date of commencement and practical completion, payment and much more must be comprehended by all parties (particularly the builder) to ensure the project is built to the correct standard and within the designated time specifications. The facts Latent defects are discovered after the $20,000,000 commercial office space construction project is completed by the builder. The plaintiff holds that the latent defects in the office space are a result of defective building works and thus claims that there has been a breach of contract as the builder acted negligently as they had a duty to take reasonable care in the construction of the offices. The plaintiff therefore seeks to claim pure economic loss and sue the builder for damages. Legal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Review Of Ordeal Of The Longhouse By Daniel Richter Daniel Richter, an American historian, completed his literary work, Ordeal of the Longhouse in 1992. His purpose of writing this book was to illustrate the Native Americans side of the colonization of America and their interactions with the new colonizers, while emphasizing the ordeals that they faced at that time. Those ordeals included: disease, economic dependency, imperial struggles, and issues with their neighbors (2). Richter was out to prove that despite and because of these struggles, Iroquois culture, politics, and diplomacy evolved in the 17th and 18th century through their interactions with different groups of European peoples. These interactions have shaped Native American traditions as well as American diplomacy as we know it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He discusses one instance where the English joined in an alliance with the Iroquois in order to further an anti French sentiment, which would then aid the English in maintaining control of the land and trade. I do not believe that the advantages that the Iroquois gained from these cultivated ties, if any, were clearly presented in the book. Furthermore, not only does it seem like the Indians were not in control of their own destiny and actions at times, but also that they were naive to look positively on the diplomatic gifts from the Europeans. For example, in 1673, the Dutch military gave the Mohawks a diplomatic present in hopes that the Mohawks would tell the commander of the state to put a stop to all correspondence with the Jesuit and Frenchmen from Canada (135). In the midst of the different European nations struggles with one another, it is difficult to see where the Iroquois really come into play and make a case for their own identity until the 18th ... • 42. Grooming CFOs to be CEOs CFO as CEO Introduction Given the increasing complexity of business and the need to financially quantify risk and opportunities so options are clearly understood while also operating in uncertainty, the progression of CFOs to CEOs will continue to accelerate. Reviewing the two articles How a CFO can graduate to CEO (Brewis, 1999) and Do CFOs really make good CEOs (Picker, 1989) illustrate foundational points to support the contention that CFOs will continue to be promoted and excel in their roles as CEOs. How CFOs are Prepared to become CEOs One of the most interesting articles in the series read to complete this analysis is Do CFOs really make good CEOs (Picker, 1989). This article highlights how critical it is for a CFO to understand the organizational structure of their business, while also understanding how best to create a teamwork framework that can enable the accomplishment of complex objectives (Picker, 1989). This article shows how D. Wayne Calloway was able to save PepsiCo as a business by having in depth knowledge of operations and the financial trade offs critical to keeping them operating. He also was able to transform many of the most costly operations in the company while reducing investments in fixed assets (Picker, 1989). These people often leave war torn countries where violence and tyranny strips the very freedoms and opportunities that are the inalienable backbone of the United States. It is no surprise, then, that immigrants from every stretch of the planet have settled in America, freely practicing their beliefs and often playing a critical role in the entrepreneurial development of our capitalist foundation. One such group is the Chaldeans. • 44. Three Stages Of Play By Sara Smilansky Sara Smilansky Physical/Manipulative Smilansky developed three stages of play. She was initially working together with Jean Piaget, but they went separate ways, so she expanded on it and developed these theories to: functional play, constructive play, dramatic play. The best description of Smilansky s functional play is when, babies are throwing their toys out of the cot time after another, or are banging their spoon on the table for hours non stop, and this is actually a way of them showing that they re playing. Adults and Teenagers also use functional play when confronted with a new object or activity to explore. Once they have mastered the objects or activity then they start to really play. Children will now be able tolerate other children standing near them when playing and occasionally when they re using the same equipment. However, they will have a limited amount of meaningful interactions with other children. Associative play This is first seen usually in the early preschool years. Children will begin to play and talk with each other in dramatic play situations where roles may be taken on. Even if these roles are usually not sustained for any length of time. Cooperative play Cooperative play occurs in the later preschool years. Children are able to take on roles and sustain them for the duration of the play. The group of children have agreed upon goals and roles for the play. In this stage of play, leaders and followers emerge within groups. Roles are delegated and tasks distributed within the group. After all, if some members envision a picnic at the park while others envision a black tie, sit down dinner at the Ritz, the road back from either extreme will be long and troublesome. An effective vision must be challenging but realistic, and a source of inspiration to others. It must be a vision that the project manager is passionate about and can communicate to others. The University of Maryland created such a vision for its 150th anniversary celebration. Once agreed upon and put in writing, the vision became part of every team meeting and the activities of every department on campus.
