Eurodisney
Euro Disney: The First 100 Days The decision to open a theme park in France was not the best idea.
There were many factors that proved to hinder the advancement of progress in regards to the European
extension of Disney since its inception. The foremost would be that of the civil unrest that seemed to
plague France at the time Euro Disney was scheduled to open. There were protests, transportation
strikes, terrorist threats, etc. all which directly or indirectly affected the Euro Disney s attendance.
Also, the $10 million ad campaign seemed very costly, especially considering the fact that this was
more than two decades ago. French critics seemed to be excessively harsh as well. On a positive note,
it had a premier location. It was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Euro Disney should have made the core of its theme park employee s ones who already were
employed with Disney in the US or US citizens familiar with Disney. If Euro Disney is contemplating
proceeding with a second phase, it would not be a recommended step. The company needs to first
address the issues at hand, low attendance for example, or poor customer service. After handling those
issues, only then will the company is ready to proceed with the next step. Euro Disney has learned
many lessons, the foremost being that the countries reception of a company can positively or
negatively affect the sales of said company. This is evidenced by the extremely negative reviews and
harsh French criticism received by Euro Disney and the company not meeting expectations. The park
should not be adapted for the local market because that is not what the consumer is looking for. The
customer wants to have the Disney feel, and to take away from that by making changes to it takes
away the opportunity for them to obtain that Disney feel. In regards to staffing, Euro Disney should
have outsourced to the US. Because most US citizens are familiar with the Disney culture, they would
be better suited to relay said culture to the European population as Disney employees. Works Cited 1.

Analyzing Beyoncé s Countdown
I can remember when Beyoncé first released Countdown, it was monumental because she was telling
the public about her pregnancy and we did not even realize it yet. I can remember vividly what year it
was and where I was. It was 2011, I was a Sophomore in high school, and it was Homecoming for us.
We chose this song to represent the Sophomore class and we created a used a dance that we found
online. The new choreography was a bit harder than what was being done in the video but we made it
work. In addition to using the song for Homecoming, I always liked the music video to it because of
the color pop and quick movements. It never crossed my mind that this music video was a rendition of
a dance movie/video that was created before. After watching Rosas then Countdown, it changed my
appreciation for the work overall.
With being instructed to watch Rosas by Keersmaker first, I immediately had a feeling that the two
videos were similar in how they looked. For the first five minutes for Rosas, the dancers were just
frantically walking around. As the video progresses, I started to notice a lot of quick movements when
walking around, as the dancers grabbed chairs, and began to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Beyoncé s rendition was like an ode to the past infused with the new. She took some of the past dances
from Rosas and put some new school into it. The color pop parts, hairstyles, and some of the outfit
changes had a 50s 60s flair to it. Not all of Beyoncé s movements were sharp, it seemed like the parts
that came off as sharp were edited to look that way. Most of Beyoncé s movements were to go along
with the song and mimic the fast pace of it compared to Rosas. In Countdown, there was some
individuality with all of the dancers including Beyoncé, for the most part, they all had on different
clothes in different colors so you were able to distinguish them from one another. There were male and
female dancers throughout

Scientist Why Research is ImportantSchool professionals have an increased awareness of the way the
term research based is being used by publishers. It has become a completely meaningless phrase in
recent years. Every type of intervention, assessment, or curriculum product now carries the label
research based. In particular, intervention publishers shamelessly proclaim that their products are

These skills or behaviors are arranged in an instructional hierarchy which, when properly understood
and used, takes students to very high levels of achievement. This view has influenced the development
and nature of iSTEEP assessments. The assessments used in RTI are most frequently those which
derive from curriculum based measurement (CBM). CBM type assessments originated in Precision
Teaching (PT) with individuals such as Clay Starlin using oral reading fluency probes and phonemic
awareness probes in the late 1960 s and early 1970 s prior to the invention of CBM by Stan Deno in
the late 1970 s. The use of assessment in iSTEEP is more aligned with the original goals of PT than
with CBM as it has evolved. A major difference between PT and CBM is the manner in which
performance criteria are established used. Binder (1990) conducted an analysis of CBM and PT and
observed differences in how standards for performance (now called benchmarks) are developed and
used. PT uses performances standards. A performance standard is the level of performance for a skill
that will support retention, maintenance and application of the skill. Data are used to set performance
standards for important prerequisite skills such as phonemic awareness and oral reading fluency so
that acquisition of these tool skills leads to smooth and quick progression through a curriculum or skill
hierarchy. In contrast CBM

How Broadway Has Changed The Economy, Tourism, And...
We are living in the excesses of freedom. Just take a look at 42nd Street and Broadway.
Broadway has evolved tremendously since its opening, from more theatres to a larger audience. A
numerous amount of plays have been performed that have left unforgettable memories on everyone.
Broadway has made major effective impacts on the economy, tourism, and entertainment industry.
In 1750 when Walter Murray and Thomas Kean decided to open their theatre company on Nassau
Street, is when the origin of Broadway began. Their theatre was only large enough to hold 280
audience members and mostly put on ballad operas and Shakespearian plays because he was popular
during that time. Musicals and theatre moved to Broadway in the middle of the century ... Show more

Broadway began getting more known in 1882 when a family named the Mallory s decided to build the
Madison Square Theatre. Nobody but themselves believed it would remain successful because they
had built it on 29th street which was far out of town where most tourists and business was located. But
to their advantage other attractive entertainment started being built in that section, like The Casino
Theatre, the Abby Theatre, and the Empire Theatre. Since there was so much entertainment it just
attracted everyone to go out of Manhattan. Throughout the years they have managed to build 39
official Broadway Theatres. They also offer Off Broadway shows which are shows that take place in
small theatre that consist of 200 500 seats that will cost you less than watch a show at a Broadway
Theatre. Due to the low prices Off Broadway shows have decreased and if something is not done soon
to increase the popularity again, they might just get taken out forever. During the 1900 s Broadway
was viewed by mainly middle class people who were searching for a date night, some excitement, and
some soothing music. Since it wasn t taken so seriously by the public, the best seats in the theatre
valued from $1.50 to $2.00. Compared to the prices of today, back then they practically paid a penny.
This all is due to the cost of maintenance that they had now in comparison to the price of

Essay on Diageo Capital Structure Case
1) Overview / Introduction
Diageo was created when Grand Metropolitan, plc and Guiness, plc merged in 1997. While the Diageo
name is not well known to consumers, its brands are among the most famous including Guinness,
Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker and Cuervo. The company recently decided to focus on a strategy to grow
through its spirits, wine and beer businesses and divest of its Pillsbury and Burger King subsidiaries.
This case study will focus on the proposed capital structure decisions of Diageo.
2) Is Diageo s current capital structure appropriate to its new business? It believes that it has
traditionally had a conservative debt policy. If so, is that policy still appropriate? Has Diageo s capital
structure been as conservative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Having a conservative debt policy increased the credit worthiness of the firm. Because the firm
believes that the interest coverage ratio is a critical factor for credit rating agencies, they attempted to
keep this ratio very high. Also, by having a higher credit rating they are able to access short term
commercial paper borrowings at better rates. This type of short term borrowing makes up 47% of
Diageo s portfolio. By not having a strong credit rating they would not be able to lock in the low rates
which would impact their business significantly.
4) What recommendation is the firm s trade off model for Diageo s future capital structure?
In order to maintain its credit rating, Diageo s Treasury team recommends an interest coverage of 5x
to 8x, but the simulation based model calculated an optimal interest coverage. Figure 2 shows minimal
cost corresponding with an interest coverage of approximately 4.2. Shown in the gray bars, the cost of
taxes paid decreases as EBIT/Interest

What Was The Purpose Of Letter To Jude
Consisting of only 25 verses, Jude is often an overlooked letter in the Bible. Jude had two purposes in
writing his letter. His first purpose was to make believers aware of the false teachers that were
penetrating their way into the communities; his second purpose was to encourage Christians to fight
for truth and stand firm in their faith. Jude was aware that the false teachers were very crafty in bring
their doctrine, gods, and beliefs into the lives and teachings of the Christians, and therefore he wanted
to give detail and waring about how detrimental this can be. Being aware of a problem is not enough.
Jude then encourages the believers to stand for truth and speak out against the false teachers. He gave
them instructions on how to do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second argument is that the referral to apostolic teachings ( the predictions of the apostles of our
Lord Jesus Christ ) would make the writing be of a late date, which would not be true if the half
brother of Jesus was writing this book. The third, and final argument is that Jude did not state he is the
brother of Jesus. Jude s role as a servant of Christ gave his letter more authority than being the brother
of Christ. None of the arguments against Jude, the brother of James, the half brother of Jesus are
strong enough not believe the claim made in scripture.
There is not an exact date given for the writing of this letter. If the letter is pseudonymous, then the
date of authorship would be approximately A.D. 100. However, if Jude the half brother of Jesus is the
author then the approximate date of authorship would be before A.D. 90. Jude and 2 Peter are closely
related and some believe one was used to write the other. If Jude used 2 Peter to write his letter, then it
can be assumed the letter was authored between A.D. 64 65. However, if Jude was used to write 2
Peter than an earlier date would be required. There is not an exact date of when the letter was written,
and the date is still argued today.
Despite the questions of authorship and date, Jude is a canonical book of the Bible. A canonical book
is one that measures up to the standard of Holy Scripture. Thus, the canon of Scripture

Analysis Of Green Is The New Red By Will Potter
Throughout his book, Green Is The New Red, Will Potter explores environmental activism and its
reception from American politicians, corporations, and administrations. Potter begins by sharing his
experience leafleting when the FBI unexpectedly threatened to put him on a domestic terrorist list if
he did not cooperate. His encounter with the FBI is frightening although by no means is it uncommon
if we consider the post 9/11 era that we live in. In this day and age, the elite will irrationally label non
violent activists like Will Potter eco terrorists in order to establish their political agenda.

Fashion And The World Of Fashion
The world of fashion is always changing and new trends are always emerging. The ways by which
trends and fashion news are communicated to the public has evolved as technology advances. Before
television and the internet, it was difficult for designers, photographers, and fashion brands alike to
spread word about the latest in fashion to a large mass of people. With the help of modern technology,
fashion has made its mark in the world by appearing on television networks, online blogs, social
media, and digital magazines. In the past, fashion was viewed as something to which only privileged
people could have access. It was hard to keep up with trends because it was not mass communicated in
the same way that it is today. Fashion shows were the best way to see the newest styles and collections
from high end designers. However, it is difficult do attend these shows because the tickets go to
celebrities, socialites, and other prominent people in the fashion world. Harvard professor, Jeannie
Suk, notes that the growing ease of travel and communication has made the dissemination of fashion
much easier (Harvard Magazine). Another way fashion was accessible was through magazines. The
most common way people stayed caught up with fashion was through magazines because they were
affordable and up to date. Suk also employs that the mass production of newspapers and other forms
of publication has helped fashion trends spread rapidly (Harvard Magazine). Nowadays, technology is

Social Work Essay
This essay will discuss social divisions; social exclusion and social inclusion, of which there are many
definitions and interpretations. Social divisions and Social exclusion has been around for many years.
Social exclusion was first noticed in France in 1970s in relation to people who fell outside the range of
the social insurance system, such as disabled people, lone parents and the young unemployed
(Townsend and Kennedy, 2004). Before 1997 Social exclusion was referred to as poverty , which
means where people lack many of the opportunities that are available to the average person (Palmer;
2010). However for the purpose of this assignment, it will focus on homelessness as a social division,
the relationship between exclusion and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One interpretation of social exclusion comes from the European Commission s recent Joint Report
,which states
social exclusion is a process where individuals are made to feel pushed out and prevented from
participating in society, due to poverty or lack of education. This may result in discrimination,
resulting in exclusion from jobs, an income, limited education, lack of social and community
opportunities and possibly feeling powerless (Europa, 2003).
A structural view from Field (1989) and Dahrendorf (1987) who believe it is the structures in society
that exclude people. Another, interpretation from the Social Exclusion Unit London (SEU) states
social exclusion is a shorthand label for what can happen when individuals or areas suffer from a
combination of linked problems such as unemployment, poor skills, low incomes, poor housing, high
crime environments, bad health and family breakdown (SEU 1997). Pierson (2010) suggests that
poverty, low income, lack of access to the job market, low or non existent social support, the effect of
the area and the exclusion from services are all ways to socially exclude people from society.
Thompson (2010) believes that social location affects people s life chances, due to where people are
born and where they live, arguing that people have no choice/control over what position they are
within society and depending on their location within the structure

The Effects of Schizophrenia on the Family
The Effects of Schizophrenia on the Family First off I would like to tell you what exactly
schizophrenia is. Schizophrenia is a brain disease, with concrete and specific symptoms due to
physical and biochemical changes in the brain. This illness strikes young people in their prime age
usually between 16 and 25. Schizophrenia is almost always treatable with medication. Contrary to
what most think schizophrenia is not a split personality , or caused by childhood trauma, bad
parenting, or poverty, and not the result of any action or personal failure by the individual.(3) Now
with a little knowledge about this disease I would like to tell you about how this illness can affect a
family that is exposed to it. Schizophrenia disturbs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When this happened to a love one it doesn t just happen to that person but it in way happens to the
whole family itself. Doctor appointments are not just meant for the one with schizophrenia, but for the
family has a whole. The entire family must intake in the appointment so that everyone is aware what is
happening and what to expect next. Family members must learn about the medications and how to
administrate them when the person is in the home. Knowing the dosage and times that the medication
is to be taken not only help administrate it better but also helps the person who is ill by helping them
keep it all organized.(2) Family routines are changed greatly do the fact that person that affect by
schizophrenia now need some type of structure now more than ever. Making a simple and stress less
routine allows the person time to relax and have time alone each day. Family might have to have more
low key regular daily activities and less big events routines, the less the person has to stress over the
better the person will be.(2) By keep a house that is quiet and calm also helps the person with
schizophrenia. Family members have to change talking habits and remember that chaos only make the
only makes the ill person more likely to see a relapse. It generally helps to keep voices a low level and
when specking with the ill person to remember to talk one person at a time and at a reasonable pace.

The Human Stain By Philip Roth
The Human Stain
Philip Roth
Entry 1
Already I can tell that this book is more difficult than most other novels I have read. It seems as
though Roth is in favor of using long sentences and complex vocabulary. I sometimes had to reread
sentences a few times because there was difficult vocabulary I needed to look up and the sentences
were long. I needed to read each sentence piece by piece to make sure I could understand what the
author wanted to convey to the reader. Although the text seemed overwhelming when I read the first
few pages; once I began reading sentences in increments I could more easily understand the text.

Now, further into the novel I can recognize the irony in the accusations against Coleman Silk. It has
been made clear that Coleman Silk is only passing as a Jewish American. Coleman s secret is that he
is a colored man hiding his identity. When Coleman went to college, a college for colored students, he
faced racism from people all around him. Coleman hated being seen as inferior so he began living his
life as a white man. It is terribly ironic that Coleman Silk became the type of person he hated most by
an accident with the accusations of racism. Coleman could have made the racism accusations vanish
by admitting who he really was but Coleman still chose to keep his secret.
Entry 4
Coleman was described as a man who had worked hard to get to where he was before the spooks
incident took away his career and wife. Then the reader learns that Coleman comes from a colored
family and has been living his life as a white man since joining the U.S. Navy. I could understand why
Coleman made that decision but when I learned that he had denounced his own mother and family I
found Coleman to be completely despicable. Coleman s parents had worked to educate Coleman and
his siblings well and Coleman was not even grateful for all they gave him. Coleman was so consumed
with not being seen as inferior that he did not even hesitate to break his mother s heart. It was here in
the novel that Coleman s narcissism, superior complex and ability

Culturally Responsive Literature and the Role of Technology in Improved Literacy Instruction
Moira Moynihan
Lipscomb University
In the quest to make education a more equitable, empowering force for all scholars, irrespective of
racial and demographic background, no fight garners as much urgency as that to close the literacy gap.
Whereas science, social studies, or math may or may not enter the daily discourse of a wealthy family
as it raises its child, reading will unquestionably monopolize a statistically significant portion of child

Marx s 1858 Grundrisse divides value into two distinct categories: use and exchange. Use value refers
to the utilitarian value garnered from something, whereas exchange value places monetary value onto
certain objects within a fiat currency system assuming there is no inherent worth in something. The
biggest argument against culturally responsive teaching within literacy comes from a perceived lack of
exchange value. True a capitalistic, patriarchal, white supremacist society does not place substantial, if
any, market value onto texts missing from the constructed Western Canon. If education seeks to truly
empower students, teachers must equip students with skills and knowledge that has market exchange
value. However, I argue that because culturally responsive texts are a more effective way to build
reading capacity, the loss of market exchange value is dwarfed by the augmented use value that comes
from being a strong, analytical reader. I will also conceded that viewing literature through a class
based lens exclusively diminishes the holistic construction of literary worth, and I would argue for non
economic benefits stemming from reading, some of which exist simply as expanded thought
processes. However, so long as a dominant lens through which readers can be ability grouped is socio
economic status, the economic ramifications of reading cannot be

The Book Thief Summer Book Report

3. What are the best parts of this book? Why? What are the worst parts of this book? Why? Give
details with page numbers from the book to explain. I think the best parts of the book are where you
see Liesel grow and understand the difficult times that she lives in with her limited knowledge of life.
Something I really enjoyed this book was the characterization and background of the characters. One
of the best parts of the book is when we see the first time Liesel ever steal a book, after her young
brother Werner died on the train ride to their new foster parents home. She was with her mother who
could not support her two children after Liesel s father was accused of being a communist . They stop
at a graveyard where a young gravedigger buries Werner as his family sobs over him. After this, the
narrator describes Liesel seeing the dropped book The Grave Diggers Manual , and tucking it into her
clothing (Zusak 54). This is a turning point where we can see Liesel s personality developing as she
seeks comfort in her life from sorrow, The book thief had struck for the first time the beginning of an
illustrious career. (Zusak 19). The worst part of the book was arguably the very end. Although a
terrible end to the story is foreshadowed continually throughout the book, it still comes as a shock
when you find out the fate of the characters. We find that after all of the characters had

The Home Of My Sperm Donor
Arriving at the home of my sperm donor, a sense of nostalgia wafts over me. The house hides itself
from sight along the roadway. Your trek begins with the driveway. The slick pavement of the road
stumbles until it falls to pieces at the base of this driveway. Walking up it, the rock ground trembles
and causes a falter in each step; the bulbous stones kiss your feet as if peasants meeting their king. The
walk up passes quickly. Before long, the house is within your sights. It resides about 30 yards away
from the drive way. The first thing you notice are the trees, such majestic creatures with their own
malevolent intentions; their leaflets curled inwards, barricading the sun s rays from the inhabitants
below. They always seemed to know what occurred in that house. The house itself rests on the side of
a hill. It always seems to precariously sit in that ledge. A portion of the hill wraps around the house
from the left side to the back. On the side facing the driveway, you notice a doorway. With closer
inspection, you notice the falsehood of this door. It simply is just a redneck security measure to
confuse intruders. Invading the back of the house, a small armada of crimpled leaves await their
orders. Swimming to the surface of the armada, a single yellow tulip fights to keep its head above it
all, but it seems as if it is drowning. Finally, you arrive at the real entrance on the far side of the house.

was 3 years old we moved to the United States. My ethnicity is latino. Many view me as caucasian
because as a kid I was really blonde and also my skin color was very light. Also many of us in my
family were very thick and i was really skinny. In the part we lived in California there were a lot of
skinny people. One aspect of my life is the sports I play. I have played over 5 different sports and that
is important because it makes me who i mostly am today. I have played track, water polo, basketball,
football, soccer, softball, and volleyball. Also I was really known as an athlete once i played basketball
and made league. One sport particular that gets people s attention is track. Once they find out and my
time they are amazed of how fast I am. I believe that soccer and tack are really well known in my
family because of most of my family has played one of those two sports. Last but not least most of my
family is really athletic, so I would say that i get my genes from both my parents and grandparents.
Another aspect of my life is my clothes. My clothes when i was younger said a lot about where i was
from. I got a lot of hand me downs from my sisters and cousins. Also my mom would always make
sure with those clothes that we still looked respectful and nice. It was

The Birthmark by Hawthorne
Representation of Evil In Hawthorne s short story The Birthmark , Aylmer feels that his wife
Georgiana is a miracle and that she is perfect. Her only flaw was the birthmark in the shape of a hand
placed on her cheek. Instead of focusing on all her Georgiana s perfections, Aylmer only focused on
one of her flaws, the birthmark. Aylmer constructs a statement about her birthmark saying that, It was
the fatal flaw of humanity which Nature, in one shape or another, stamps ineffaceably on her
productions, either to imply that they are temporary and finite, or that their perfection must be
wrought by toil and pain. (Meyer 345) Aylmer s abhorrence for Georgiana s imperfection is a
representation of evil in this story, he talks about Nature or God and how spiritual he is during the
whole story; but his key focal point shifts to her imperfection. This is a representation of evil for the
actuality that she carried one physical defect and that is all Aylmer could focus on. People like this are
called pessimistic, since they only concentrate the awful or expect the worst. Georgiana was perfectly
at ease for the way she was until her husband kept making comments about her until she became self
conscious about
Middleton 2 it and started to loathe what she admired most. His original love and appreciation for his
wife turned into an obsession of trying to mold her look the way he wanted her to, not the way God
intended. In the end Georgiana felt as though she would rather die than to

The Latino Paradox
For immigrants, becoming American isn t easy, but their health is far better than born U.S Citizens.
Latino immigrants (mostly men) would travel to and from their country of origin to work in the U.S
(Kennett Square) leaving their families behind, to access a green card where they can be able to get
their family to come to the U.S to live, this process takes up to nine years. Kennett Square had good
schools, resources, and social services to invest in their future, they were a bridging community ,
meaning everyone benefits if no one is left behind. This was a way for the community to come
together have talks, and find out about the available resources there were and to also exchange
services. The community had an after school program for teens The Garage , they studied, did

Steve Larson a doctor of the county, seized all generalizations there were of Latino s, generalizations

affluent people with better health than the most affluent people, which was a question to America,

the children of the hardest working immigrants, they began to forget why they came to the U.S. Lost

to be around the children. They did this to make ends meet, after all, they are the poorest

Michel Faucault Discourse
According to Michel Faucault, discourse is a form of power that circulates in the social field and can
attach to strategies of domination as well as those of resistance . More particularly, discourse are
settings, context, actions, fundamental interaction and the significance that governs the way it works
with one another. Discourses could also be seen as a process where specific values and structures that
are forced to the actors to create a system of coercion.
For discourse analysis assignment, I observed a workplace setting with a specific set of discourse and
identity kit. The place that I chose is traditional Chinese restaurant that I used to dine in with my

Biopsy Case Studies
Siblings should be screened for the disease (by measuring ceruloplasmin, urine copper and liver

analysis. 24 hour urine copper excretion Most symptomatic patients (80 90%) will have urine copper
100 µg / 24h, which is diagnostic for Wilson disease (31). However levels of 40 100 µg / 24h may be
seen in some cases. About 50% of presymptomatic patients who are ultimately diagnosed as affected
have urine values in an intermediate range between 60 100 µg/24h. Because heterozygotes may have
values up to 80 µg / 24h urine (but never 100), patients in this range may require liver biopsy for
definite diagnosis. Measurement of increased cuperuresis after the administration of penicillamine has
not shown to be more sensitive than an unenhanced 24 h collection for copper. Others noted that this

Because of some confounding factors interpretation the results is hard. In addition, higher levels may
also be found in acute liver failure or chronic cholestasis. Therefore, it has limited utility. Furthermore,
because 90% of copper is carried by ceruloplasmin and the latter is generally reduced in WD, serum
copper values alone may be misleadingly normal. In addition serum levels of copper may be elevated
during pregnancy or stress conditions since ceruloplasmin is an acute phase reactant and 90% of
circulating copper is carried by ceruloplasmin. Serum Ceruloplasmin The normal value of
ceruloplasmin ranges from 20 to 40 mg/dL. Levels below 18 mg/dL can be suggestive for WD. Low
or absent ceruloplasmin is reported in 96% of patients (23), that results in decreased total serum
copper and increased free copper. Low levels can be found in 1% of normal population and 10% of
heterozygotes or carriers (Table2). So, low seruloplasmin is not diagnostic by

The purpose of the study was to determine the effects made to estimated VO2max and resting blood
pressure (BP) when subjects were encouraged to walk at least 10,000 steps a day for a six month
period. This study was performed at Arizona State University (ASU) and Karolinska Institutet(KI).
The participants from ASU numbered 712 and consisted of randomly selected staff, faculty and
graduate students on campus, ages 20 to 65 years. KI had 1,406 participants, falling under the same
category as those at ASU. Three hundred and fifty five of the 2,118 participants, 355 were randomly

changes in systolic and diastolic BPs. At KI, systolic and diastolic BP was seen to initially be high, the
fall about halfway through the study, and then slightly increase toward the end, while at ASU, systolic
and diastolic BP were seen to be lower than KI s initial measurement, increasing about halfway
through and then tapering off toward the end. Diastolic BP followed suit of systolic and decreased
over time by a rate of 4.03 mmHg every three months. However, for diastolic BP, gender had no
correlation to initial or continuous changes diastolic BP, age was only related to the initial diastolic
BP, and the number of steps taken was only related to the changes over time. For VO2max, ASU s

I. Abstract
This experiment is working with the ideal gas law, which is the summation of Boyle s Law, where
pressure is inversely proportional to volume, Charles Law, where the volume is directly proportional
to temperature and Avogadro s Law, where the volume is directly proportional to moles. In this
experiment, the volume occupied by one mole of H2 was determined. By measuring the volume of H2
gas generated, its molar volume can also be calculated. The universal gas constant can be ... Show

a key theme over the last year in particular. As I have previously mentioned, the Transfer Center and
our office cohort has a new Director and the growing pains have been great. Before our new Director,
gossip was rampant. With the new director, the group is learning a lot about communication, the value
of downward and upward communication and the form that communication is received. The most
recent source of growing pains was from the change of the type of staff for the mid shift; staff was
changing from non licensed staff to registered nurses. The Director announced the changes to the

Unfortunately, my office setting does not vary from those classic lyrics. The text calls the grapevine
informal, yet important source of information (Robbins Judge, 2009). There are two misconceptions I
had about the grapevine idea: essentially 75% of information received by the grapevine is true
information (Robbins Judge, 2009) and gossip is rarely the source of rumors (Robbins Judge, 2009).
The interesting part of the grapevine that is particularly applicable to the situation I described is that
rumors emerge as a response to situations that are important to us, when there is ambiguity, and under
conditions that around anxiety, (Robbins Judge, 2009). The mid shift change of staff announcement
was particularly ill timed because the project was not approved, nor were dates set for the approval;
the pilot project announcement was ambiguous. This set a motion for anxiety. The common theme
with my co workers was rumors around who was keeping his/her job and who was being let go, with
many people speculating who was being fired. This rumor was damaging not only to my co workers
who were considered the outgroup (Robbins Judge, 2009), but also to respect for the

Classism In Ancient Athens, Rome, And Han Dynasty
Classism in Ancient Athens, Rome, and Han Dynasty
Mathematics, philosophy, astronomy, and medicine are some of the significant contributions made by
the Greeks, and they were also notorious for their cultivated architecture and sculptures. The Greek
culture impacted the Roman Empire and several other civilizations; it remains transforming present
day cultures. The Han Dynasty is one of the most remarkable dynasties in Chinese history. This
dynasty incorporated about four hundred years of development and strengthening; it coexisted with
the duration of the Roman republic and the empire in the West. Momentous developments occurred in
the Han Dynasty. Rome advanced form being one of several city states to being the core of the most
magnificent empire in the world. In this essay, I will be discussing the classicism of the 5th century
Athens and how their culture still influences modern societies. I will also discuss the Han Dynasty s
significant developments and experiences that occurred during this dynasty. The classicism of the
Roman republic will also be discussed in this essay. One of the most influential Greek city states was
Athens. They used a democratic arrangement of government, and the involvement in democratic
operation was restricted to citizens. Social, economic, and political situations impacted art; writing,
sciences, and art thrived in fifth century BCE. Athletes, artists, and great thinkers transpired out of
ancient Greece. The origination of diverse art

Act 19 Research Paper
The historical accuracy of the Bible: The Bible is the most accurate of ancient writings. There are
25,000 archaeological findings that back it up. There are nearly 25,000 manuscripts and portions of
manuscripts that attest to its accuracy. There are several writings by scholars, who lived during the
times of Jesus but were not followers of Christ supporting the biblical story of Jesus.
Acts 19 starts with Paul leaving Apollos in charge of the church in Corinth while he continues his
missionary journey. It ends with Paul s encounter with an angry mob. But for the Gentiles, the
problem was literally closer to home: their pocketbooks. What Acts calls a serious disturbance broke

Luke s account of their prominence in Ephesus. The inscription stated that the monument had been

In others words, theirs was a status quo worth rioting to preserve. Note that both the inscription and

Then there s the seemingly obscure reference to the great Artemis and of her image that fell from the

claim at the outset of the two part work (Luke and Acts) to have investigated everything accurately
and reported them orderly is substantiated in Acts

The Importance Of Japanese Culture
In my multicultural paper, I will be discussing about the Japanese culture how it has influenced my
own values and traditions today, allowing me to experience a world which I was not aware of before.
Specifically, their type of food dishes is something I partake on a weekly basis with friends and
family, ranging from their usual rice balls to delicious sushi. Another trait about this culture is being
able to read their unique literature, after spending two semesters in a Japanese course at Fullerton
College, I have finally developed the ability to read Japanese in my favorite Manga books, without
needing English subtitles. Likewise, another key point that I find interesting about this culture is how
they can advance in the field of technology by creating new devices that could help humanity. But,
that is not always the case with this culture, seeing they have been known for creating the weirdest
inventions in the world, yet still bringing joy and excitement to some. Either way, people from other
cultures should take the opportunity to learn about this culture, considering what it could return and
teach, making us a diverse community. Now, I understand that not everyone has the stomach to handle
Japanese cuisine, seeing how some of their delicious meals tend to be prepared as raw, and not cooked
to the proper temperature which most people are accustom to. However, it is worth eating if you are
willing to participate in, because Japanese chefs are among the most eager and

Ethics And Shopping In Malcolm Gladwell s The Science Of...
There is science behind everything, including shopping, there are reasons why stores are arranged a
certain way it is not just because it looks pretty , but how do store managers know where to place
certain items in certain places? And does it improve sales? Malcolm Gladwell wrote The Science of
Shopping in which he reveals that the reason why stores are organized a specific way is because they
hire people such as Paco Underhill. According to Gladwell he is a retail anthropologist and an urban
geographer which means he studies the shopping behavior. When Underhill is hired he sets up
cameras all around the store and after a few days of filming people as they shop and studying their
every move. He then sells this information to the stores so they can use it to improve their business.
Should it be allowed for people like Underhill to observe customers as they shop? People could debate
on this topic saying that customers need privacy, but what Underhill does is ethical, clients should be
watched in stores even if it is without their knowledge because it would help both consumers and
businesses. Being able to observe people s behavior in stores and seeing what they are attracted to
would help the store increase sales by putting those items at a reachable place for them to grab. It
would also benefit consumers because costumer service would improve. Lastly, being able to study
shopping behavior would be easy for stores to see patterns and trends. If the store is aware of

Example Of Aggression Analysis
The first article I read was, Everday Aggression Takes Many Forms. There are many things that really
caught my interest in this article and I am really glad that I chose to read it. The main basis of the
article was how people intentionally hurt others daily due to their aggression and how it happens. This
really is helpful in knowing how we can stop doing these sorts of things to others and how to help
others do the same. One of the main thing to take away from this article, which was repeated, is the
definition of aggression. The definition of aggression, as stated in the article is, any behavior directed
toward the goal of harming another living being. In the article it says that aggression is often confused
with assertiveness, Openly expressing one s own needs or concerns, which is kind of the opposite of
aggression. Without knowing what aggression is defined as how can we know if we are doing it?
Aggression is intentional, at times we often get so frustrated, most commonly with the people we are

Toddlers and older adults, and people that have impaired immune systems are most likely to have the
severe infections. People get infected with salmonella poisoning mainly through contaminated water,
meats, poultry, and eggs. Foods become contaminated when made by people who do not wash their
hands thoroughly after using the toilet or changing a diaper. You can also get salmonella poisoning
from touching pets, especially birds and reptiles, then putting your fingers in your mouth. Salmonella
lives in the intestines of people and animals. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration have now
discovered that some salmonella outbreaks have been traced to contaminants in spices. There are
many different kinds of salmonellosis. Salmonella serotype Typhimurium and Salmonella serotype
Entheritidis are the two most common types in the United States. The first thing you can do to prevent

novel, The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, many characters are discussed uniquely to an
extent from the festive, yet status hungry Roaring Twenties. In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald
introduces many characters who all seem to cause conflict with each other because of incompatible
personalities. The main character that F. Scott Fitzgerald sets the entire book over is Jay Gatsby,

This shows that Gatsby seems to strangely disappear from Nick s view, and with Nick unaware of who

character that many people seem to guess who his true identity is, for example when Nick and Jordan
attend on of Gatsby s great parties Nick begins to ask Jordan questions about Gatsby where is he from,
I mean? And what does he do? Now you re started on the subject (Fitzgerald 53). This shows that
nobody fully understands who Gatsby truly is, and that although many people participate at his parties,

Jay Gatsby, the main character of F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, is also described as a man
who seemed to do anything to get what he wants, however even though what he wants he cannot

Temporal Trends and Geographic Patterns of Teen Suicide in Alaska, written by Bradford D. Gessner,
reported the findings of a study on teen suicide rates in Alaska. Using death certificates and U.S.
census data to record trends in suicide rates among Alaskan teens ages 14 19, it was found that the
teen suicide rate was 31.5 per 100,000 persons each year. The study tested three hypotheses, the first

and several census area level demographic variables. Correlational research involves chi square and

using Epi Info computer software (Dean, Dean, Burton et al., 1995). Linear regression analyses were
conducted with SPSS (Norusis, 1993). Descriptive research was also employed in this study, as it
involved the use of many statistics (e.g., suicide rate, number of Alaska teens ages 14 19.) Obtaining

Personal Goals Essay
Running head: PERSONAL GOALS
Personal Goals
Kevin
University of Phoenix
Personal Goals
As with most people engaged in this class, I have contemplated the question: what do I want to
accomplish with my life? This intricate question burdens many people, not just those of us that have
chosen to continue our education. I have seen it with my own children as they contemplate which
career path will lead them to a comfortable life with financial stability. My most obvious goal and
reason for enrolling in University of Phoenix is like every other student: to complete this program and
earn my degree. However, the fruition of my goal ultimately depends on the fulfillment of smaller,
more personal ambitions. My first objective was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I want to utilize my current skill set and be given the opportunity to stretch the capacity of my mind to
continue to read, learn, and comprehend new knowledge as it presents itself. I believe that life is an
education program and I continue to encounter new knowledge every day. While I may consider some
of the learnt items miniscule, I know that ultimately they influence my life and the decisions I make.
I have been employed in the hospitality industry for almost 20 years. While engaging, it has become
somewhat of a complacent, day to day routine. My original goal was to find a vehicle to move me into
an alternative direction. In some of my past jobs I had always excelled when it came to numbers so
accounting positions came naturally for me. The dilemma, however, was that my personality
conflicted with the facet of accounting positions that required being stuck behind a desk and pressing
out spreadsheets. I found that although I was an individual that uniquely enjoyed accounting I also
enjoyed the ability to be in the driver s seat and guide the operations of a business. For that reason, the
natural aspiration that soon developed was the goal of operating my own business. Since
accomplishing this goal, I now have an established practice that provides financial statement
preparation and accounting services to small organizations. While I have the skill set to perform the
tasks required by my career

The Best of the Best
The book basically talks about visionary companies deviating from most books which are written on
charismatic leadership and visionary products. Visionary companies are institutions in industry having
a separate standing in terms of admiration and impact on world around them. All visionary products as
well as visionary charismatic leaders have to die, it is actually company that last long through multiple
products and leaders. In six year of research Jim Collins and Jerry I. Porras have identified historical
development of visionary companies. Along with they have selected control set of comparison

mythology of great idea is the most important thing for a company to be successful. Visionary
companies began life with failures. Visionary companies are very less likely to begin life with great

Company itself is the ultimate creation, slight shift in seeing a company as vehicle for products to
seeing the products as a vehicle for company. Westingtonehouse s greatest creation was the AC power
system: coffin s greatest creation was the general Electric Company. The visionary companies were
highly persistent, living to the motto. Ultimate creation of a company is to become a great institution.
One should spend more time thinking about organizational design. Great products and services come
from great or highly visionary companies. All products or services get obsolete but it s the company or

Pros And Cons Of Stricter Gun Control Laws
The United States needs stricter federal handgun control laws because stricter gun control laws would
reduce the number of handgun deaths and injuries, more gun control laws would lead to fewer
suicides, banning high capacity magazines would prevent mass shootings and murders, stricter gun
control laws have worked in other countries by leading to lower homicide and suicide rates than the
United States, and guns are rarely used in self defense and they do not decrease crime rates.
Stricter gun control laws would reduce the number of handgun deaths and injuries in the United States
per year. There were 464,033 total gun deaths between 1999 and 2013: 58% were suicides, 38% were
homicides, 2% were unintentional deaths. 67% of all homicides were committed with guns, and 52%
of all suicides were committed with guns. According to a March 10, 2016 Lancet study, implementing
federal universal background checks could reduce firearm deaths by a predicted 60%, background
checks for ammunition purchases could reduce deaths by a predicted 81%, and gun ID requirements
could reduce deaths by a predicted 83%. All these statistics could be lowered if the United States had
more gun control.
More gun control would lead to fewer successful suicide attempts. Suicide attempts by other means
have a higher rate of survival because guns are instant and give the person no time to think about what
they are doing, while around 86% of attempted suicides by firearm are fatal. Suicide by gun is most
popular (21,386 out of 42,826 suicides using a gun as of March 17, 2017). A study found suicide rates
in rural parts of Maryland were 35% higher than urban parts of Maryland, which was mainly due to
the number of guns available in those areas. In addition, 2 in 3 deaths by firearm are suicides.
Researchers found that suicide rates in rural areas of the country were 35% higher than suicide rates in
urban areas, and the researchers said one of the reasons why this occurs is because of how many more
guns there are in those rural areas. Based on these facts, it can be concluded that more gun control
laws would lead to fewer successful suicide attempts because if the suicidal person had to take a few
days to think and devise a plan to commit suicide

Henry VIII and his contribution to the English Reformation
Henry VIII, the notorious King of England, had an exceptionally significant influence on English
history. The importance of Henry s eminent reign is typically overshadowed by his six wives, but to
discover its true essence one must breach the barriers yielded by the many fallacies concerning his
overly publicized liaisons. Although to many he is remembered solely for his hedonistic life style, his
malicious attitudes, and of course his six wives, Henry was well educated and an adept ruler. He
exuded confidence and supremacy throughout all of his actions. Henry fought many wars in Europe,
callously increased the authority of royal government, and even aspired to become Holy Roman
Emperor in order to extend his jurisdiction. Henry s greatest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He needed a male heir in order to secure the Tudor succession and ensure the permanence of his
kingdom. His current wife Catherine bore six children only one of which survived a daughter, who
later reigned as Mary I. This would not suffice and Catherine had failed to fulfill Henry s ultimate
aspiration and therefore was no use to him anymore. He then turned his attentions to a maid of honor
at court, Anne Boleyn. Church law forbids divorce, but it is considered ethical for the pope to annul a
marriage. Despite his frequent justifications, the pope was still adamant in his beliefs and turned his
request down. Wolsey could not secure the annulment from the pope that Henry had so resolutely
demanded. His once potent power vanished in that instant since its basis was his ability to accomplish
the king s objectives. This was just the beginning of his tenacious fixation that would be the dominant
component in his everlasting impact on our history.
Henry was still in desperate need of a way out of his current marriage in order to peruse the new
subject of his infatuation, Anne Boleyn. He argued that from biblical authority the union with his
brother s widow was invalid. Despite his efforts, the fact that Catherine s nephew was the Holy
Roman Emperor made his desires utterly impossible to reach. As result he sought out new methods for
achieving his ultimate ambition.

The Code And Software Components Of An Information System
To protect any prestigious company and make it safe for both the employees and users certain
safeguards needs to be put in place in order to ensure integrity. Technical safeguards, data safeguards,
human safeguards, account management are some of the essential ways a company can help protect
their image. Technical safeguards include identification and authentication via user names and
passwords, smart cards, biometric authentication, encryption and single sign on for multiple systems.
Another is data safeguards which consists data administration, database administration, key escrow,
backup copies, and physical security for all devices that store database data. Human safeguards are
safeguards for employees, including security sensitivity for position definitions. Account
administration and system procedures are also an important part of data security. These measures are
put in place to ensure that the reputation of the company is upheld throughout its daily operations.
The Use of the First Line of Technical Safeguards to Protect the Business
The hardware and software components of an information system is very important to the overall
functionality of the business organization. To ensure that only the right persons are accessing sensitive
information technical safeguards provide a sense of safety. Identification and authentication is very
critical for any information system. Identification is the unique username that employees are usually
given or is made by themselves. This

The Untethered Soul By Michael Singer
Get Rid Of All That Keeps You From Living Life To The Fullest At some point, we have all
constructed walls with which to protect ourselves. Every part of your life has been as a result of your
fears you have made your life to feel as safe as possible to avoid any of the conflicts raging inside you.
It s an unconscious thing, but it s something we all do. Michael Singer provides an excellent analogy
of this in the book The Untethered Soul. A person has a thorn piercing a nerve in their arm, which
means any contact with it causes crippling pain. So, how can this person live a life without pain?
Protect themselves, a sleep device is necessary to protect the thorn as bed won t do. Physical contact is
a big no no, so a protective device will solve that. Okay, it isn t comfortable, but it s protective. The
person learns how to manage their life around the thorn, controlling their evnrionment so they are
completely free from the thorn. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is a life built around a problem, rather than solving it. Wouldn t you just remove it instead? This
is a perfet analogy because this is what we do in our lives, we have our own thorns that we construct
around and protect ourselves from. Whether it s self doubt, fears, insecurities or trauma from the past.
As soon as something brushes that thorn you push it down as deeply as possible rather than allowing
yourself to experience the pain and let it go. The

Essay on African Diaspora
Part 1: Question one is what is the African diaspora? (Who should be considered in the African
diaspora? How is this like the black Atlantic and how is it different?). Students should use the Colin
Palmer piece to answer this question. In its most recognizable form, the African diaspora refers to the
many cultures and societies abroad that exist throughout the world as the result of the historic
movement, mostly forced, of native Africans to other parts of the globe. Most specifically, the African
diaspora is the blanket term used to represent a confluence of events that led to the forced
displacement of millions of innocent people. The term first originated in the 1950s and initial studies
focused on the dispersal of people of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No diasporic community manifests all of these characteristics or shares with the same intensity an
identity with its scattered ancestral kin. In many respects, diasporas are not actual but imaginary and
symbolic communities and political constructs; it is we who often call them into being. (Palmer) It is
essential to note that the term African Diaspora does not describe any single event, group of people or
set of customs. It represents a current state of being for many citizens of the world and provides
context for understanding the social structures and intercultural relationships of the world we live in
today. Collin Palmer provides great insight into the context of diaspora. He writes that there have been
several movements, massive migrations of people, throughout history. There is no single diasporic
movement or monolithic diasporic community to be studied, but rather a confluence of people, events
and ideologies that span thousands of years, across every continent. Each period of movement, each
diasporic stream, happened for different reasons. Palmer s approach to the African Diaspora begins
with a look nearly 100,000 years into the past. He identifies five major streams, with the first African
diaspora that occurred as a

  • 2. Eurodisney Euro Disney: The First 100 Days The decision to open a theme park in France was not the best idea. There were many factors that proved to hinder the advancement of progress in regards to the European extension of Disney since its inception. The foremost would be that of the civil unrest that seemed to plague France at the time Euro Disney was scheduled to open. There were protests, transportation strikes, terrorist threats, etc. all which directly or indirectly affected the Euro Disney s attendance. Also, the $10 million ad campaign seemed very costly, especially considering the fact that this was more than two decades ago. French critics seemed to be excessively harsh as well. Euro Disney should have made the core of its theme park employee s ones who already were employed with Disney in the US or US citizens familiar with Disney. If Euro Disney is contemplating proceeding with a second phase, it would not be a recommended step. The company needs to first address the issues at hand, low attendance for example, or poor customer service. After handling those issues, only then will the company is ready to proceed with the next step. Euro Disney has learned many lessons, the foremost being that the countries reception of a company can positively or negatively affect the sales of said company. This is evidenced by the extremely negative reviews and harsh French criticism received by Euro Disney and the company not meeting expectations. The park should not be adapted for the local market because that is not what the consumer is looking for. The customer wants to have the Disney feel, and to take away from that by making changes to it takes away the opportunity for them to obtain that Disney feel. In regards to staffing, Euro Disney should have outsourced to the US. Because most US citizens are familiar with the Disney culture, they would be better suited to relay said culture to the European population as Disney employees. • 4. Analyzing Beyoncé s Countdown I can remember when Beyoncé first released Countdown, it was monumental because she was telling the public about her pregnancy and we did not even realize it yet. I can remember vividly what year it was and where I was. It was 2011, I was a Sophomore in high school, and it was Homecoming for us. We chose this song to represent the Sophomore class and we created a used a dance that we found online. The new choreography was a bit harder than what was being done in the video but we made it work. In addition to using the song for Homecoming, I always liked the music video to it because of the color pop and quick movements. It never crossed my mind that this music video was a rendition of a dance movie/video that was created before. After watching Rosas then Countdown, it changed my appreciation for the work overall. With being instructed to watch Rosas by Keersmaker first, I immediately had a feeling that the two videos were similar in how they looked. For the first five minutes for Rosas, the dancers were just frantically walking around. As the video progresses, I started to notice a lot of quick movements when walking around, as the dancers grabbed chairs, and began to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The color pop parts, hairstyles, and some of the outfit changes had a 50s 60s flair to it. Not all of Beyoncé s movements were sharp, it seemed like the parts that came off as sharp were edited to look that way. Most of Beyoncé s movements were to go along with the song and mimic the fast pace of it compared to Rosas. In Countdown, there was some individuality with all of the dancers including Beyoncé, for the most part, they all had on different clothes in different colors so you were able to distinguish them from one another. It has become a completely meaningless phrase in recent years. Every type of intervention, assessment, or curriculum product now carries the label research based. These skills or behaviors are arranged in an instructional hierarchy which, when properly understood and used, takes students to very high levels of achievement. This view has influenced the development and nature of iSTEEP assessments. The assessments used in RTI are most frequently those which derive from curriculum based measurement (CBM). CBM type assessments originated in Precision Teaching (PT) with individuals such as Clay Starlin using oral reading fluency probes and phonemic awareness probes in the late 1960 s and early 1970 s prior to the invention of CBM by Stan Deno in the late 1970 s. The use of assessment in iSTEEP is more aligned with the original goals of PT than with CBM as it has evolved. A major difference between PT and CBM is the manner in which performance criteria are established used. Binder (1990) conducted an analysis of CBM and PT and observed differences in how standards for performance (now called benchmarks) are developed and used. PT uses performances standards. A performance standard is the level of performance for a skill that will support retention, maintenance and application of the skill. Data are used to set performance standards for important prerequisite skills such as phonemic awareness and oral reading fluency so that acquisition of these tool skills leads to smooth and quick progression through a curriculum or skill hierarchy. Broadway has evolved tremendously since its opening, from more theatres to a larger audience. A numerous amount of plays have been performed that have left unforgettable memories on everyone. Broadway has made major effective impacts on the economy, tourism, and entertainment industry. In 1750 when Walter Murray and Thomas Kean decided to open their theatre company on Nassau Street, is when the origin of Broadway began. Their theatre was only large enough to hold 280 audience members and mostly put on ballad operas and Shakespearian plays because he was popular during that time. Broadway began getting more known in 1882 when a family named the Mallory s decided to build the Madison Square Theatre. Nobody but themselves believed it would remain successful because they had built it on 29th street which was far out of town where most tourists and business was located. But to their advantage other attractive entertainment started being built in that section, like The Casino Theatre, the Abby Theatre, and the Empire Theatre. Since there was so much entertainment it just attracted everyone to go out of Manhattan. Throughout the years they have managed to build 39 official Broadway Theatres. They also offer Off Broadway shows which are shows that take place in small theatre that consist of 200 500 seats that will cost you less than watch a show at a Broadway Theatre. Due to the low prices Off Broadway shows have decreased and if something is not done soon to increase the popularity again, they might just get taken out forever. During the 1900 s Broadway was viewed by mainly middle class people who were searching for a date night, some excitement, and some soothing music. Since it wasn t taken so seriously by the public, the best seats in the theatre valued from $1.50 to $2.00. Compared to the prices of today, back then they practically paid a penny. Having a conservative debt policy increased the credit worthiness of the firm. Because the firm believes that the interest coverage ratio is a critical factor for credit rating agencies, they attempted to keep this ratio very high. Also, by having a higher credit rating they are able to access short term commercial paper borrowings at better rates. This type of short term borrowing makes up 47% of Diageo s portfolio. By not having a strong credit rating they would not be able to lock in the low rates which would impact their business significantly. 4) What recommendation is the firm s trade off model for Diageo s future capital structure? In order to maintain its credit rating, Diageo s Treasury team recommends an interest coverage of 5x to 8x, but the simulation based model calculated an optimal interest coverage. Figure 2 shows minimal cost corresponding with an interest coverage of approximately 4.2. Shown in the gray bars, the cost of taxes paid decreases as EBIT/Interest

His first purpose was to make believers aware of the false teachers that were penetrating their way into the communities; his second purpose was to encourage Christians to fight for truth and stand firm in their faith. Jude was aware that the false teachers were very crafty in bring their doctrine, gods, and beliefs into the lives and teachings of the Christians, and therefore he wanted to give detail and waring about how detrimental this can be. The second argument is that the referral to apostolic teachings ( the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ ) would make the writing be of a late date, which would not be true if the half brother of Jesus was writing this book. The third, and final argument is that Jude did not state he is the brother of Jesus. Jude s role as a servant of Christ gave his letter more authority than being the brother of Christ. None of the arguments against Jude, the brother of James, the half brother of Jesus are strong enough not believe the claim made in scripture. There is not an exact date given for the writing of this letter. If the letter is pseudonymous, then the date of authorship would be approximately A.D. 100. However, if Jude the half brother of Jesus is the author then the approximate date of authorship would be before A.D. 90. Jude and 2 Peter are closely related and some believe one was used to write the other. If Jude used 2 Peter to write his letter, then it can be assumed the letter was authored between A.D. 64 65. However, if Jude was used to write 2 Peter than an earlier date would be required. There is not an exact date of when the letter was written, and the date is still argued today. Despite the questions of authorship and date, Jude is a canonical book of the Bible. A canonical book is one that measures up to the standard of Holy Scripture. Thus, the canon of Scripture ... • 12. Fashion And The World Of Fashion The world of fashion is always changing and new trends are always emerging. The ways by which trends and fashion news are communicated to the public has evolved as technology advances. Before television and the internet, it was difficult for designers, photographers, and fashion brands alike to spread word about the latest in fashion to a large mass of people. With the help of modern technology, fashion has made its mark in the world by appearing on television networks, online blogs, social media, and digital magazines. In the past, fashion was viewed as something to which only privileged people could have access. It was hard to keep up with trends because it was not mass communicated in the same way that it is today. Fashion shows were the best way to see the newest styles and collections from high end designers. However, it is difficult do attend these shows because the tickets go to celebrities, socialites, and other prominent people in the fashion world. Harvard professor, Jeannie Suk, notes that the growing ease of travel and communication has made the dissemination of fashion much easier (Harvard Magazine). Another way fashion was accessible was through magazines. The most common way people stayed caught up with fashion was through magazines because they were affordable and up to date. Suk also employs that the mass production of newspapers and other forms of publication has helped fashion trends spread rapidly (Harvard Magazine). Nowadays, technology is ... Social exclusion was first noticed in France in 1970s in relation to people who fell outside the range of the social insurance system, such as disabled people, lone parents and the young unemployed (Townsend and Kennedy, 2004). Before 1997 Social exclusion was referred to as poverty , which means where people lack many of the opportunities that are available to the average person (Palmer; 2010). One interpretation of social exclusion comes from the European Commission s recent Joint Report ,which states social exclusion is a process where individuals are made to feel pushed out and prevented from participating in society, due to poverty or lack of education. This may result in discrimination, resulting in exclusion from jobs, an income, limited education, lack of social and community opportunities and possibly feeling powerless (Europa, 2003). A structural view from Field (1989) and Dahrendorf (1987) who believe it is the structures in society that exclude people. Another, interpretation from the Social Exclusion Unit London (SEU) states social exclusion is a shorthand label for what can happen when individuals or areas suffer from a combination of linked problems such as unemployment, poor skills, low incomes, poor housing, high crime environments, bad health and family breakdown (SEU 1997). Pierson (2010) suggests that poverty, low income, lack of access to the job market, low or non existent social support, the effect of the area and the exclusion from services are all ways to socially exclude people from society. Then the reader learns that Coleman comes from a colored family and has been living his life as a white man since joining the U.S. Navy. I could understand why Coleman made that decision but when I learned that he had denounced his own mother and family I found Coleman to be completely despicable. Coleman s parents had worked to educate Coleman and his siblings well and Coleman was not even grateful for all they gave him. Whereas science, social studies, or math may or may not enter the daily discourse of a wealthy family as it raises its child, reading will unquestionably monopolize a statistically significant portion of child rearing time. Marx s 1858 Grundrisse divides value into two distinct categories: use and exchange. Use value refers to the utilitarian value garnered from something, whereas exchange value places monetary value onto certain objects within a fiat currency system assuming there is no inherent worth in something. The biggest argument against culturally responsive teaching within literacy comes from a perceived lack of exchange value. True a capitalistic, patriarchal, white supremacist society does not place substantial, if any, market value onto texts missing from the constructed Western Canon. If education seeks to truly empower students, teachers must equip students with skills and knowledge that has market exchange value. However, I argue that because culturally responsive texts are a more effective way to build reading capacity, the loss of market exchange value is dwarfed by the augmented use value that comes from being a strong, analytical reader. I will also conceded that viewing literature through a class based lens exclusively diminishes the holistic construction of literary worth, and I would argue for non economic benefits stemming from reading, some of which exist simply as expanded thought processes. However, so long as a dominant lens through which readers can be ability grouped is socio economic status, the economic ramifications of reading cannot be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What are the worst parts of this book? Why? Give details with page numbers from the book to explain. I think the best parts of the book are where you see Liesel grow and understand the difficult times that she lives in with her limited knowledge of life. Something I really enjoyed this book was the characterization and background of the characters. One of the best parts of the book is when we see the first time Liesel ever steal a book, after her young brother Werner died on the train ride to their new foster parents home. She was with her mother who could not support her two children after Liesel s father was accused of being a communist . They stop at a graveyard where a young gravedigger buries Werner as his family sobs over him. After this, the narrator describes Liesel seeing the dropped book The Grave Diggers Manual , and tucking it into her clothing (Zusak 54). This is a turning point where we can see Liesel s personality developing as she seeks comfort in her life from sorrow, The book thief had struck for the first time the beginning of an illustrious career. (Zusak 19). The worst part of the book was arguably the very end. • 18. The Home Of My Sperm Donor Arriving at the home of my sperm donor, a sense of nostalgia wafts over me. The house hides itself from sight along the roadway. Your trek begins with the driveway. The slick pavement of the road stumbles until it falls to pieces at the base of this driveway. Walking up it, the rock ground trembles and causes a falter in each step; the bulbous stones kiss your feet as if peasants meeting their king. The walk up passes quickly. Before long, the house is within your sights. It resides about 30 yards away from the drive way. The first thing you notice are the trees, such majestic creatures with their own malevolent intentions; their leaflets curled inwards, barricading the sun s rays from the inhabitants below. They always seemed to know what occurred in that house. The house itself rests on the side of a hill. It always seems to precariously sit in that ledge. A portion of the hill wraps around the house from the left side to the back. On the side facing the driveway, you notice a doorway. With closer inspection, you notice the falsehood of this door. It simply is just a redneck security measure to confuse intruders. Invading the back of the house, a small armada of crimpled leaves await their orders. Swimming to the surface of the armada, a single yellow tulip fights to keep its head above it all, but it seems as if it is drowning. Finally, you arrive at the real entrance on the far side of the house. A single wooden door. The window pane in the door remained shattered and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The Birthmark by Hawthorne Representation of Evil In Hawthorne s short story The Birthmark , Aylmer feels that his wife Georgiana is a miracle and that she is perfect. Her only flaw was the birthmark in the shape of a hand placed on her cheek. Instead of focusing on all her Georgiana s perfections, Aylmer only focused on one of her flaws, the birthmark. Aylmer constructs a statement about her birthmark saying that, It was the fatal flaw of humanity which Nature, in one shape or another, stamps ineffaceably on her productions, either to imply that they are temporary and finite, or that their perfection must be wrought by toil and pain. (Meyer 345) Aylmer s abhorrence for Georgiana s imperfection is a representation of evil in this story, he talks about Nature or God and how spiritual he is during the whole story; but his key focal point shifts to her imperfection. This is a representation of evil for the actuality that she carried one physical defect and that is all Aylmer could focus on. People like this are called pessimistic, since they only concentrate the awful or expect the worst. Georgiana was perfectly at ease for the way she was until her husband kept making comments about her until she became self conscious about Middleton 2 it and started to loathe what she admired most. However levels of 40 100 µg / 24h may be seen in some cases. About 50% of presymptomatic patients who are ultimately diagnosed as affected have urine values in an intermediate range between 60 100 µg/24h. Because heterozygotes may have values up to 80 µg / 24h urine (but never 100), patients in this range may require liver biopsy for definite diagnosis. In addition serum levels of copper may be elevated during pregnancy or stress conditions since ceruloplasmin is an acute phase reactant and 90% of circulating copper is carried by ceruloplasmin. Serum Ceruloplasmin The normal value of ceruloplasmin ranges from 20 to 40 mg/dL. Levels below 18 mg/dL can be suggestive for WD. There is science behind everything, including shopping, there are reasons why stores are arranged a certain way it is not just because it looks pretty , but how do store managers know where to place certain items in certain places? And does it improve sales? Malcolm Gladwell wrote The Science of Shopping in which he reveals that the reason why stores are organized a specific way is because they hire people such as Paco Underhill. According to Gladwell he is a retail anthropologist and an urban geographer which means he studies the shopping behavior. When Underhill is hired he sets up cameras all around the store and after a few days of filming people as they shop and studying their every move. He then sells this information to the stores so they can use it to improve their business. Should it be allowed for people like Underhill to observe customers as they shop? People could debate on this topic saying that customers need privacy, but what Underhill does is ethical, clients should be watched in stores even if it is without their knowledge because it would help both consumers and businesses. Being able to observe people s behavior in stores and seeing what they are attracted to would help the store increase sales by putting those items at a reachable place for them to grab. It would also benefit consumers because costumer service would improve. Lastly, being able to study shopping behavior would be easy for stores to see patterns and trends. If the store is aware of ... Gatsby is a mysterious unique character that many people seem to guess who his true identity is, for example when Nick and Jordan attend on of Gatsby s great parties Nick begins to ask Jordan questions about Gatsby where is he from, I mean? And what does he do? Now you re started on the subject (Fitzgerald 53). This shows that nobody fully understands who Gatsby truly is, and that although many people participate at his parties, no one really knows who the host actually is, making Jay Gatsby mysterious as ever. Jay Gatsby, the main character of F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, is also described as a man who seemed to do anything to get what he wants, however even though what he wants he cannot receive and this tends to hurt some of the other characters around Jay Gatsby, which makes Gatsby seem as a stubborn man who is stubbornly in love. Gatsby shows stubbornness when he is talking to Tom and Daisy, for example in chapter 7 of The Great Gatsby it states your wife doesn t love you, said Gatsby quietly. She never loved you. She loves me. (Fitzgerald 137). This shows that Gatsby is so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gessner, reported the findings of a study on teen suicide rates in Alaska. Using death certificates and U.S. census data to record trends in suicide rates among Alaskan teens ages 14 19, it was found that the teen suicide rate was 31.5 per 100,000 persons each year. The study tested three hypotheses, the first being that the overall suicide rate of Alaska teens ages 14 19 during 1979 1993 would vary according to residence, gender, race, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gessner used correlational research (directly stated) in his study, as he examined the effect of different variables. For example, the two variables teen suicide and gender were found to covary together. Besides determining suicide rates by census area, the correlation was determined between these rates and several census area level demographic variables. Correlational research involves chi square and linear regression tests univariate, multivariate, and square root transformation all of which were used in this study. Risk ratios and Taylor series 95% CIs as well as chisquare tests for trend were calculated using Epi Info computer software (Dean, Dean, Burton et al., 1995). Linear regression analyses were conducted with SPSS (Norusis, 1993). The dilemma, however, was that my personality conflicted with the facet of accounting positions that required being stuck behind a desk and pressing out spreadsheets. I found that although I was an individual that uniquely enjoyed accounting I also enjoyed the ability to be in the driver s seat and guide the operations of a business. For that reason, the natural aspiration that soon developed was the goal of operating my own business. Since accomplishing this goal, I now have an established practice that provides financial statement preparation and accounting services to small organizations. • 43. Pros And Cons Of Stricter Gun Control Laws The United States needs stricter federal handgun control laws because stricter gun control laws would reduce the number of handgun deaths and injuries, more gun control laws would lead to fewer suicides, banning high capacity magazines would prevent mass shootings and murders, stricter gun control laws have worked in other countries by leading to lower homicide and suicide rates than the United States, and guns are rarely used in self defense and they do not decrease crime rates. Stricter gun control laws would reduce the number of handgun deaths and injuries in the United States per year. There were 464,033 total gun deaths between 1999 and 2013: 58% were suicides, 38% were homicides, 2% were unintentional deaths. 67% of all homicides were committed with guns, and 52% of all suicides were committed with guns. According to a March 10, 2016 Lancet study, implementing federal universal background checks could reduce firearm deaths by a predicted 60%, background checks for ammunition purchases could reduce deaths by a predicted 81%, and gun ID requirements could reduce deaths by a predicted 83%. All these statistics could be lowered if the United States had more gun control. More gun control would lead to fewer successful suicide attempts. Suicide attempts by other means have a higher rate of survival because guns are instant and give the person no time to think about what they are doing, while around 86% of attempted suicides by firearm are fatal. Suicide by gun is most popular (21,386 out of 42,826 suicides using a gun as of March 17, 2017). A study found suicide rates in rural parts of Maryland were 35% higher than urban parts of Maryland, which was mainly due to the number of guns available in those areas. In addition, 2 in 3 deaths by firearm are suicides. Researchers found that suicide rates in rural areas of the country were 35% higher than suicide rates in urban areas, and the researchers said one of the reasons why this occurs is because of how many more guns there are in those rural areas. Based on these facts, it can be concluded that more gun control laws would lead to fewer successful suicide attempts because if the suicidal person had to take a few days to think and devise a plan to commit suicide ... The importance of Henry s eminent reign is typically overshadowed by his six wives, but to discover its true essence one must breach the barriers yielded by the many fallacies concerning his overly publicized liaisons. Although to many he is remembered solely for his hedonistic life style, his malicious attitudes, and of course his six wives, Henry was well educated and an adept ruler. He exuded confidence and supremacy throughout all of his actions. Henry fought many wars in Europe, callously increased the authority of royal government, and even aspired to become Holy Roman Emperor in order to extend his jurisdiction. Henry s greatest ... His current wife Catherine bore six children only one of which survived a daughter, who later reigned as Mary I. This would not suffice and Catherine had failed to fulfill Henry s ultimate aspiration and therefore was no use to him anymore. He then turned his attentions to a maid of honor at court, Anne Boleyn. Church law forbids divorce, but it is considered ethical for the pope to annul a marriage. Despite his frequent justifications, the pope was still adamant in his beliefs and turned his request down. Wolsey could not secure the annulment from the pope that Henry had so resolutely demanded. His once potent power vanished in that instant since its basis was his ability to accomplish the king s objectives. This was just the beginning of his tenacious fixation that would be the dominant component in his everlasting impact on our history. Henry was still in desperate need of a way out of his current marriage in order to peruse the new subject of his infatuation, Anne Boleyn. He argued that from biblical authority the union with his brother s widow was invalid. Every part of your life has been as a result of your fears you have made your life to feel as safe as possible to avoid any of the conflicts raging inside you. It s an unconscious thing, but it s something we all do. Michael Singer provides an excellent analogy of this in the book The Untethered Soul. A person has a thorn piercing a nerve in their arm, which means any contact with it causes crippling pain. So, how can this person live a life without pain? Protect themselves, a sleep device is necessary to protect the thorn as bed won t do. Physical contact is a big no no, so a protective device will solve that. How is this like the black Atlantic and how is it different?). Students should use the Colin Palmer piece to answer this question. In its most recognizable form, the African diaspora refers to the many cultures and societies abroad that exist throughout the world as the result of the historic movement, mostly forced, of native Africans to other parts of the globe. Most specifically, the African diaspora is the blanket term used to represent a confluence of events that led to the forced displacement of millions of innocent people. No diasporic community manifests all of these characteristics or shares with the same intensity an identity with its scattered ancestral kin. In many respects, diasporas are not actual but imaginary and symbolic communities and political constructs; it is we who often call them into being. (Palmer) It is essential to note that the term African Diaspora does not describe any single event, group of people or set of customs. It represents a current state of being for many citizens of the world and provides context for understanding the social structures and intercultural relationships of the world we live in today. Collin Palmer provides great insight into the context of diaspora. He writes that there have been several movements, massive migrations of people, throughout history. There is no single diasporic movement or monolithic diasporic community to be studied, but rather a confluence of people, events and ideologies that span thousands of years, across every continent. Each period of movement, each diasporic stream, happened for different reasons. Palmer s approach to the African Diaspora begins with a look nearly 100,000 years into the past. He identifies five major streams, with the first African diaspora that occurred as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
