Throughout My Lesson, I Tried To Use Math Vocabulary That
Throughout my lesson, I tried to use math vocabulary that would expand the students understanding.
The use of math vocabulary can be defined as academic content language because it advancing the
students understanding. In part 1 of my lesson at 3:08 into the video, I ask the students does anyone
have a strategy that could help us or that they want to see? . This allows for me to the use the word
strategy which is an example of academic content language. A second example of academic content
language would be at around the same time, a student answers with the response of 6 . I say that s the
answer, but what did you do to find your answer, and what are the coins worth . Using the word worth

Then I ask the students at 12:07 do I have to draw a symbol in front of that 1? Madison responses by
saying a period? I say a period goes after the one and is followed by what? And the class replies two
zeros Then I asked yes but what comes before the 1? Kaedon replies an S with a cross sign and then
comes up and draws the $ symbol. I used these questions to teach my students a new concept instead
of just giving them the answers. Students go to learn from their peers. In order to support literacy in
my lesson, I had the students read the dollars to make sure they were using the correct dollar bills. I
was teaching them that reading allows for use to not get confused or mixed up by the five dollar bills
with the one dollar bill. In my part 2 video of my lesson around 10:21, the students are trying to get to
$20.89. The group up front attempts by using ones which confuses them. I say that s two dollars and
one of the student response by saying five dollar because they have just read that off the five dollar
bill. This allowed for them to develop that literacy connection so that can use reading skills when they
are confused.
Response Required: Interacting with the Students
Throughout my lesson, the students will asked to gather the correct amount of coins to get the correct
amount of money. If their group can accomplish their goal, then they will receive a point. In order to

Cyworld Marketing Case Analysis
Cyworld Case Analysis
Market Segmentation Cyworld s market can be segmented many different ways using various factors
to create the segments. Cyworld can demographically segment its market using statistics such as age,
sex, and country. This can be done by breaking down Cyworld s users based on male/female, current
country of residence, and then further grouping the users into age categories of 13 18 years old, 19 29
years old, 30 39 years old, etc. Cyworld can gain information on its market by further segmenting its
users based on specific aspects of the website, such as activity level, purchases, and the amount of
connections. For activity level segmentation, Cyworld would categorize users based on the amount of
times he/she signs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Valuation of User Types for Cyworld Between the Cyworld user classifications of an active user, a
user who spends a lot of money on the site, and a user with a lot of connections, the most valuable to
Cyworld is an active user. An active user is a Cyworld member that signs in to his/her profile on a
consistent basis, multiple times per week. This type of user creates the most opportunities for Cyworld
to produce income in various ways. Active users are the ones who engage more with the system, who
are more likely to interact with advertising, who are more likely to spend money on virtual goods and
currency (O Sullivan, 2011). A user who spends a lot of money on Cyworld is valuable, but their value
to Cyworld is limited to only the purchase of items. If purchasing items goes out of style and becomes
an infrequent occurrence, this type of user brings about little value to the website. A user with a lot of
connections, or a member that has a lot of virtual relationships with other members, comes in at a
close second in terms of value brought to Cyworld. This type of user brings about a higher possibility
of purchasing items for their various connections, as described previously, but just because a Cyworld
user has a lot of connections does not mean that he/she actively uses the website. A user with a lot of
connections that never, or rarely, signs into Cyworld contributes little value to the website. High user
activity levels allow Cyworld

Affirmative Action Is Necessary Analysis
America is said to be like a melting pot, a diverse land of people with all sorts of different cultures and
backgrounds. But, how truly diverse is America? How diverse are our schools and our workplaces?
Why Affirmative Action Is Necessary was published in 2015 to EBSCO by Anne Stokely. Stokely s
argument is in favor of affirmative action because she believes it allows everyone to compete freely in
the marketplace. Affirmative action continues to be a controversial idea in our society today.
The issue at hand is if affirmative action is necessary. Does America need it? Is it fair? Is it actually
helping minorities get ahead? Is affirmative action causing reverse discrimination? The targeted
audience seems to be major corporations and education administrators. The main point of their thesis
is affirmative action helps minority groups gain access to education and jobs that they would not
usually have access to. The purpose of this article is to inform their audience why affirmative action is
a necessary policy to have.
Anne Stokely appears to be a more liberal writer than conservative. Stokely shows very good will,
likeability, and humility. Stokelys approach towards the material is to use a variety of logos evidence
and effective examples from history. Stokelys styles is very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

My Hero Research Paper
We all have heroes, some are fictional like Superman, Batman, or Abraham Lincoln. My hero is, my
dad. Ever since I was born, I have lived mainly with my dad. When I was a kid, me and my dad lived
in Florida. On the weekends we would go out boating. Crystal clear water all around, the smell of the
sea filling your nose, the not as pleasant taste of salt water in your mouth. Going out on the ocean was
the best part of being there. When we moved we lost all that. We went to Greybull, Wyoming, a small
town where my father grew up. I made a few friends and we all had lots of fun together. My dad was
usually working, fixing the house or out on a job. Most of the time he took me with him and I helped

Labelle v. Rogers Communications Inc.
Labelle v. Rogers Communications Inc. Deborah P. Labelle filed a complaint with the Canadian
Human Rights Commission on September 3, 2009 against Rogers Communications Inc. The
complainant, Labelle feels that Rogers Communications Inc. the respondent, discriminated against her
because she is a woman. This falls under section 3 of the CHRA which covers and protects against sex
discrimination. Labelle alleges she was treated differently compared to her male counterparts and was
eventually fired from her position. The complainant filed this complaint on the grounds of sex
discrimination.
The Commission on the date of April 8, 2011 announced to the Tribunal and the alleged parties that is
would not be involved in the hearing directly. They enclosed documentation and forwarded it to both
parties concerning the information about legal council should they have any questions. A mediation
date was set shortly after on April 19, 2011. At this point the Tribunal uses a courier service to contact
all parties involved. This requires the recipient to sign for the documents being delivered. This
presented an issue for the complainant from the beginning. The courier has history saved to record
when a delivery is attempted and is either successful or unsuccessful. Throughout the entirety of this
case, Labelle was unable to be contacted on over 5 attempts by the courier service.

Allende and Peter Winn s Weavers of Revolution Essay
Allende and Peter Winn s Weavers of Revolution
In Peter Winn s Weavers of Revolution, a factory in Santiago, Chile fights for their independence
against the Chilean government of the 1970 s. While this rebellion is going on, presidential elections
are taking place and Salvador Allende is the presidential candidate which represents the common
people. The relation between Allende and the people he represents is a unique one because at first this
class, the working class, helps and supports Allende to become president, but then both parties realize
their different plans for the future and the working class actually contributes to the downfall of
Allende s presidency. At first, the working class heavily supported Allende s campaign. A ... Show

Allende based his campaign around the unfairness of Chile s society to the working class, and the
Yarur factory gave him the support he needed to win the election. Once Allende becomes elected, the
two revolutions which were supposed to compliment each other actually start to work against each
other. The first type of revolution is the revolution from below , which is characteristic of the workers
in the Yarur rebelling against the Chilean government. The other type is the revolution from above ,
this was the revolution common of the higher class like Allende working towards workers rights. At
first, the workers think that their revolution from below was only helping Allende s revolution from
above. The workers did things like form unions for the first time, or were even so bold to strike
against the mill in order to gain complete control over it. Strikes had happened before which were
about things like wages or unions, but this was different for the fact that they wanted total control of
the mill. Allende was forced to give the workers the power to control the mill. This is just one of the
examples of how the revolution from below sometimes coincided with or complemented, but
increasingly diverged from, the legalistic and modulated revolution from above (141). For the most
part in fact, the strategies of Allende were disrupted by the revolution from below because of their
need for extreme

The Field Of Forensic Linguistics
The following article takes a brief look at the field of Forensic Linguistics. In simple terms we could
define forensic linguistics as a field that acts as an interface between language, the law and crime
where the law includes a variety of judicial matters, legislation and law enforcement (Coulthard
Johnson, 2010: 199). Therefore, a forensic linguist may note findings resulting from research
conducted within a variety of disciplines including, for example, theory of grammar, discourse
analysis, conversation analysis and language and memory studies (Tiersma, 1999: 147). For the most
part, crimes require that there is an offender or offenders who commit a type of forbidden act (actus
reus) while under a specific mental state (mens rea) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
L Austin (1962) and John Searle (1969), have developed certain speech act theories in which it has
been noted how utterances can perform certain functions that essentially go beyond the task of
communicating information. These acts include those such as questioning, lying, promising,
threatening and agreeing, and many of them can be illegal in certain circumstances.
While many speech acts involve the essential factor of actor intent , many are intrinsically
characterised by the effect on the receiver. While all language crimes then deal with the actor s intent
(e.g. an individual must have the intent to solicit a crime to be guilty of solicitation) many also deal
with the perlocutionary effect a speech act that doesn t make the receiver feel threatened is generally
not a threat, regardless of the intent (Coulthard Johnson, 2010: 376).
Aside from the act of threatening another individual, language crimes can take a variety of forms
including bribery, extortion or solicitation (in terms of soliciting things such as illicit sex or murder)
(Shuy, 2005: 3). However, the simple act of using offensive language can also be regarded as a
language crime and, indeed, such actions have been widely legislated against. Prosecutions here
however, are said to be rare often because people understand the hypocrisy involved in prosecuting
another for something that most of us engage in at some point (Taylor, 1995: 224). Vilification can
also be regarded as a language crime

Overview of the Australian Film Industry
Australian Film Industry 1
Era before World War I Australian film industry had good and bad times or boom and bust (Stratton,
1990) in period of last 100 years and that is why it can be called a fragile industry. If we look at the
history, era before 1914, we find out that Australia was counted as one of the biggest film making
countries of the world. This Australian film industry took the honor of being first to produce world s
first feature film in 1906, The Story of the Kelly Gang. The local movie production was on its peak in
year, 1911 in which fifty one movies were released (Pike and Cooper, 1998). Although this number
does not seem very impressive today but in those times, Australia was counted as the fastest film
producing country. In only two years, between 1910 to 1912, more than 90 narrative films were
produced and between 1906 to 1928, this number reached to 150 (Moran and Vieth, 2005) .This high
production is never seen after that period. That s why this period before World War I was an ideal
period for film industry, which never came back. Australian films were not only seen in Australia but
all around the world through travelling exhibitions. Several films produced in Australia were
internationally recognized and the actors and film makers starting their career in Australian film
industry gained international reputations. A large number from these also received great financial
benefits in their career in the largest producing centers of the world,

How do I learn how to ride a skateboard. You need to wear padding when you first start riding. You

to push. When I ride my skateboard with my brother and his friends. We always go to the skate park.
Some we take the bikes and scooter my sister does not know how to ride but when she want to learn
she could just ask me or my brother we might teach her if we have the time. How do you teach a
person to ride a skateboard. When you say you want to get a skateboard you can look on the internet
you can look for a place that seals skateboards. You need to get a skateboard because you cannot ride
air. You also need a friend that might know how to ride. Just so they can give you a little push just so
you can get going. Then you need padding just to keep safe. And to keep yourself from getting hurt. ...

Fekede Tuli Critical Review
This is a critical review of Fekede Tuli s paper titled The Basis of Distinction between Qualitative and
Quantitative Research in Social Science: Reflection on Ontological, Epistemological and
Methodological Perspectives . This work looks at Fekede s publication with the view of showing how
the power of persuasion has been employed by the author. As Neuman (2003), argues, there is no
single, absolutely correct methodology to social science research but rather the methodologies
represent different ways of looking at the world ways to observe, measure and understand social
reality . The choice of a methodology by extension relies upon the nature of reality, the purpose of
doing research, and the type of knowledge that can be produced as a result of one s decision to
conduct a study onto a particular issue. Fekede Tuli advances that the selection of research
methodologies depends on fitness for purpose. Fitness for purpose here referring to effectiveness and
ability of a methodology to produce satisfactory research findings from the proposed ... Show more

He in deed made it through by looking at the two from an inductive outlook. According to Tuli,
qualitative research methodologies are inductive, that is, oriented toward discovery and process, have
high validity, are less concerned with generalizability, and are more concerned with deeper
understanding of the research problem in its unique context.
He adds that interpretive researchers use qualitative research methodologies to investigate, interpret
and describe social realities (ontology). Another scholar, Mutch, (2005), recons that the research
findings in qualitative methodology are usually reported descriptively using words. Interesting to
annotate, is the assertion that qualitative researchers who include positivists regard respondents to as
research participants rather than sheer objects in the

Essay On Acquisition Premium
Acquisition premium is defined as the amount the acquirer paid, which is higher than the fair value of
the target company (AASB 3). In the case of the public companies, the acquisition premium is
calculated as a percentage of the market capitalization of the target before the transaction is
announced. Several factors explaining for the existence of acquisition premiums, synergies and control
premium are most commonly identified. Synergies arise when the value of the combined business is
larger than the sum of the values of individual business that would be achieved if not combined.
Synergies can be classified into two classes; one is operational synergy and another is financial
synergy. Operational synergies have effects of reducing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Goodwill on acquisition need to be amortized and recognized as an expense on a straight line base in
the profit and loss statement, during the whole period from the date of acquisition to the end of period
benefits are expected to arise. According to AASB 1013, goodwill must be measured as the excess
beyond the acquisition expenditure over the fair value of the identifiable asset. In order to determine
the amount of goodwill on acquisition, the purchaser needs to recognize the fair value of all the
identifiable assets acquired and the purchase consideration. Fair value of net identifiable assets equals
the sum of company s share equity. Purchase consideration is the amount that the acquirer is willing to
pay for the target company. The goodwill on acquisition is the amount difference between the
purchase consideration and the fair value of company s identifiable assets. However, the cost directly
relate to acquisition such as legal fees, stamp duty and other government charges, and professional
fees need to be included to determine the cost of acquisition.
Similarity and difference between acquisition premium and goodwill Both acquisition premium and
goodwill arise from company combination when one company acquire another company by pay
higher price than what the fair value of the acquired company is. However, goodwill on acquisition is
an asset which show in the financial statement and the benefit of it could be

How Did Plato Argue The Soul
In this brief segment of Plato s work he is trying to argue that the soul, rather than being one, actually
has different parts. He claims and tries to justify that the soul must have three different parts to it, each
responsible for creating different urges that a person has. On page 111 of Plato s Republic he
establishes that the same one thing will not experience opposites within the same one part of itself
over the same thing, at the same time. So, therefore if someone finds this occurring in the soul it can
be established that the soul is not one but instead made out of different parts. He then shows an
example of this occurring in the soul in order to argue the soul does indeed have parts. On pages 114
and 115 he says that someone can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The premise of the same thing will not undergo opposites within the same part of itself in regards to
the same thing at the exact same time, so therefore when the soul gives you two opposite urges (e.g.
thirsty but you don t want to get a drink) it proves that the soul must have different parts, is a premise
that I do indeed agree with. I believe what Plato is saying here as I do not think the same part of one s
soul can be responsible for making someone have two completely opposite urges. I also agree with the
premise that there is a third part to the soul, the spirit. At first I questioned it thinking that this was
indeed one in the same with the rational but then the good point is made that small children are clearly
full with spirit yet are not rational so therefore they cannot be one in the same. This argument sold me
on the third part of the soul. The one argument I couldn t get on board with was when Plato wrote that
thirst is just for drink, and not one of a specific kind. I think that personally one can be craving a
specific type of drink, regardless of environment, (e.g. orange juice) and their thirst will not be
quenched by any drink but by only the drink they are craving. Plato makes it seem that one cannot
urge a specific drink but only drink in general. Although I do disagree with that specific part, in the
end the overall argument was

Role Of Women In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
In The Epic of Gilgamesh, there are female characters who influence the timeline of events in the
story. Ishtar, the goddess of love and Shamhat, a sacred prostitute, both played important roles
throughout the epic. In this ancient story, women not only represent astuteness and dominion, but also
deceit and destruction. These women could both use their sexuality and deceitfulness to influence the
decisions and the lives of the men they encountered. Without these women interfering with the lives of
the major characters in this epic, this story would have a different outcome.
In the beginning of the epic, Enkidu is described as a wild and untamed man. Enkidu never learned
how to be civilized, for he lived in the wild for most of his life. Shamhat, a sacred temple prostitute,
was sent to encounter Enkidu and try to tame him through a sexual relationship. She succeeded and
for six days, seven nights was Enkidu aroused. (Gilgamesh line 186) Enkidu transformed from

a literary device that originated in England in the late 18th century. This style of writing invokes fear
and dread in the reader. Stories of Gothic Literature usually includes bleak or remote settings,
characters who face psychological issues, or plots where weird events happen. On the other hand,
Magical Realism is a literary genre that follows many cultural traditions of Latin America. This type
of writing combines reality and fantasy to surprise the readers, but at the same time offers a view on
human nature. Some characteristics of Magical Realism would be realistic settings that include details
on everyday life or events, fantastic events with realistic characters and actions, and a supernatural
feel where anything is possible. The Fall of the House of Usher is a good example of Gothic Literature
because it deals with characters who face psychological and physical torment and it has a plot where
freaky events occurs. Gothic Literature also focuses on

Senseless Fears in the Film V Vendetta and Short Story...
When humans are afraid, we think irrationally. We can convince ourselves that we see demons in the
dark, or that inanimate objects are moving on their own. Although after applying logic we disregard
these thoughts, upon reiterating an idea multiple times our brains recognize them as true. For instance,
in the film V for Vendetta Chancellor Adam Sutler of a future Britain uses repetitive videos of
American riots as a scare tactic to discourage the people of Britain from rebelling. In addition, the
short story Doughnut Shops and Doormen reinstates the idea of fear through a women who
consistently avoids unnecessary human contact by convincing herself that the only person she cares
for is a rock star whom she ll never met. Both of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently Amy has improperly developed social skills, thus does not like receiving attention.
When speaking of her coworkers Amy assumes, They forget about me. I am unnoticeable, as I intend.
There is no room in my life for reality, only Chris (289). Chris imposes Amy s negative perception of
reality because she fears losing him, although she doesn t actually have him. In a normal
friendship/relationship, we have concerns for our friend s addictions. They cause us to give
interventions, and seek help that our friend typically doesn t want. Amy s consistent attachment to an
unobtainable person has caused her to have a social phobia.
On a similar note, V for Vendetta illustrates a country ran by overuse of a fear injecting slogan. The
film begins with Louis Pathro, the voice of London, criticizing America for supposedly needing
assistance. He specifically states, Here was a country that had everything, absolutely everything. And
now, 20 years later, is what? The world s biggest leper colony. Why? Godlessness. This is to invoke a
fear of God in the people of Britain. He continues, Strength through unity. Unity through faith. I m a
God fearing Englishman and I m goddamn proud of it! The slogan Strength through unity. Unity
through faith is written on posters all throughout Britain. They indicate that the land of Britain should
be strong because of all of its God fearing

company that Pizza Hut competes with. And all of them have very similar business pattern, engage in

Essay on Women s Roles and World War II
If you were born right now, this instant, at you re present age without any knowledge about how
women used to be treated, the assumption could be made that men and women are basically equal.
Yes, men are a little stronger physically, but overall the two sexes are both equal. Things weren t
always so picturesque, though. Since people first settled here, on what is now the United States of
America, women were thought of as inferior. Ever so slowly though, the men s view on women began
to change. The change started in the 1920 s but it was going slowly and needed a catalyst. World War
II was that catalyst. So much so that women ended up participating in the rise of the United States to a
global power.

Thus where there were men in jobs before, there was nobody and with that women flowed into
factories and offices, taking over jobs previously thought that only men could do (Palmer, Colton,
p.719).
May 22, 1942, will surely go down on the record, predicted the Christian Science Monitor. It was the
day that women joined up with the army... It was obvious; the U.S. needed a larger military force.
Thus women joined the army within organizations. From there came Oveta Culp Hobby, the director
for the first American military organization of women. This organization was called the WAAC
(Women s Army Auxiliary Corps). Many people were impressed by the strength of the WAAC and it
is said that within three months, the AAF was discussing the possibilities of obtaining more members
of the WAAC (Weatherford, p.34).
In 1943 there was a U.S. male pilot shortage. In August, the WASPS (Women Airforce Service Pilots),
were formed to aid the shortage. For the most part the WASPS weren t used for actually fighting. They
were used mainly used for ferrying bomber and fighter planes from factories to airbases. Even in the
Airforce, while helping the men, women were still antagonized by the men. The WASPS lasted only
for one year and in 1944, when the male pilot shortage ended, a proposal to make the WASPS a part of
the Airforce was submitted. The

The Impact Of Remuneration On The Workplace Essay
It is universally acknowledged that remuneration is the key to drive the employees to be more
productivity, enhance job satisfaction as well as the direction that determines the organizational
behaviour of one. In the early 1900s, Taylor (1903) suggested that financial incentives were significant
in improving efficiency of workers. However, the role of money has been revealed that it is not the
sole factor to improve worker performance, while other factors need to be considered, as such human
relations and social networks in the workplace, it is evident that these have become more important
nowadays. Motivation defined by Kreitner (1995) is the process that gives behaviour purpose and
direction. It is also defined as psychological drives which determine the behaviour, amount of effort
put and degree of persistence in the face of obstacles (Kanfer 1990). Motivation contains both intrinsic
and extrinsic sources (Weddell et al. 2013 p228). Intrinsically motivated behaviours are driven for self
interest whereby extrinsically motivated behaviour is performed to satisfy own materiality or social
rewards or to avoid punishment (Weddell et al. 2013 p228). According to Herzberg s motivation
theory (1968), intrinsic to work mainly promotes job content which includes responsibilities,
recognition, achievement, the work itself, growth and advancement, extrinsic, on the other hand, refers
to the context of the job which includes pay, company policy, administrative and so on. It is

The Man Eaters Of Tsavo Analysis
The Man Eaters of Tsavo, by John Henry Patterson, describes the terrorizing effect of a pair of man
eating lions on a camp of railroad workers in 1898 East Africa. Patterson s memoir demonstrates the
difficulties and influences that imperialistic Great Britain had over the Africans, and faced many
issues while trying to develop the infrastructure of the continent in order to take advantage of the
wealth and natural resources in the interior of Africa.
Throughout the story, Patterson always wanted to be in power which represented how Great Britain
wanted to be the most powerful nation in the old world, especially over all of the other imperialistic
nations. For example, Great Britain judged the African people because they hardly wore any clothes,
but in reality, that was due to the harsh climate they lived in. In addition, Great Britain wanted to
civilize the African peoples because they viewed them as uncivilized, due to their lack of ... Show

because Patterson described all of the unknown landscape that other Europeans never knew existed.
Another reason for Great Britain not having to explore the inner parts of Africa was that disease had
stalled them. In addition, many of the British people were not immune to the bugs that carried certain
type of diseases, while the African peoples were immune. For example, a mosquito that carried

green eggs and ham by Dr.Seuss. Dr.Seuss was one of my favorite authors to read.As a kid I would get

Growing up I never really liked reading. I always found it boring or a waste of time but as I got older I

night. What I really enjoyed reading were song lyrics. Music has been apart of my life since I was in

Favorite Composer Paper There are numerous composers within the Classical Music genre; each one
is different from the next. Although it may seem that each piece of music within the Classical genre is
the same, they are just as different as the composers are to one another. Wolfgang Mozart is a very
well known composer. He was not only popular in the time period in which he lived, but he continues
to be one of the better known composers in today s society. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on
January 27, 1756, in Salzburg, Austria. He was the only surviving son of Leopold and Maria Pertl
Mozart. Wolfgang s father, Leopold, was a successful composer, violinist, and assistant concert master
at the Salzburg court (Bio.com). His mother, Maria, was born into a middle class family of local
community leaders (Bio.com). Both Wolfgang and his sister, Maria Anna (nicknamed Nannerl ) were
introduced to music at a young age. Because Leopold started teaching Nannerl to play the piano at the
age of seven, Wolfgang developed a strong understanding of chords, tonality, and tempo, and was
soon receiving lessons from his father, also. Because Wolfgang composed his first piece at five years
old on the piano, excelled at playing the clarinet and violin (Biography of Mozart). In 1762, Wolfgang
s family began traveling to courts in Munich, Paris, London, The Hague, and Zurich to perform. Both
Nannerl and Wolfgang were considered child prodigies

What I Learned New Imagery And Pedagogies Into My Dance...
I initially took Jazz III because it is required for my dance minor; I also hoped to gain a better
understanding of the Jazz Technique. Throughout this course I achieved the goals that I set at the
beginning of the semester. My goals were to be very confident doing double pirouettes and
comfortable doing triple pirouettes. I also wanted to focus on being a more conscious turner and
dancer. I pushed myself to break my habit of just going for pirouette and hoped that it all worked out.
Each class I learned new imagery and pedagogies that have been extremely beneficial to my dance
career. A few images and pedagogies that resonated were the idea of my pelvis being an elevator,
taking my pelvis with me, especially when doing battement s, and understanding the placement of a
turned in passé. I have already taken and applied the goals, imagery, and pedagogies into my dance
career. At first, I was concerned with such varied levels but throughout the course I felt challenged in
the Jazz III/I class. Jazz III is required for dance minors to complete. I was excited to take this course
because I wanted to expand my Jazz Technique. Throughout the course I have learned a lot about the
Jazz Technique and Vernacular. Before this course I had never done a grand píle in parallel. I also
learned how to do turns from second position, which was new to me. This course made me feel more
comfortable performing and having fun with Jazz Dance. In the past, I have felt timid performing Jazz

The Reasons for the Hostility Between Austria-Hungary and...
The Reasons for the Hostility Between Austria Hungary and Serbia During 1878 and 1914
Between 1878 and 1914, there was generally a lot of hostility in the Balkans this was mainly due to
the weakening Ottoman Empire, this allowed countries within it to start to fight for independence and
the greater powers surrounding it to try and take over parts of it.
After the Treaty of Berlin, 1878, Austria Hungary was given the right to occupy and administer the
Ottoman province of Bosnia Herzegovina. In 1908, after growing fears of Serbia and Russia becoming
stronger, Austria Hungary annexed Bosnia Herzegovina. This angered the Serbs because they had

The results of the first Balkan War in 1912 were another cause of hostility between the two countries.
As a result of this war Serbia had gained control of the Adriatic coastline, and had also taken over
Albania. Austria Hungary resented and feared the sudden growth of Serbia and wanted Serbia to give
up both the Adriatic coast and Albania. Russia however supported the Serbs, and he and Austria
Hungary mobilised their troops against one another. A peace treaty was drawn up and by May 1913
the Treaty of London was signed. In this treaty Serbia lost control of the Adriatic coast and Albania
was made an independent state, however they did gain control of central and northern Macedonia.
They felt this was inadequate and blamed Austria Hungary for their loss of land. This was a significant
factor in the hostility between the two sides as it made Austria Hungary fear Serbian growth and
angered Serbia as they felt that whenever they made gains of land in the Balkans the Austrians would
thwart it.
The results of the second Balkan war were also key factors in the hostility between the two countries.
In 1913 Serbia and Greece went to war with Bulgaria to win land they thought they deserved after the
first war. Bulgaria was defeated and in the Treaty of Bucharest Serbia and Greece got to keep those
parts of Macedonia they had captured. The Serbs then went on to

Girls are abused and beaten regularly, and the government condones these actions as if they are not

against human trafficking, although the problem still heavily influences the country. To begin with, in
Cambodia, human trafficking has been a pertinent problem for the past two decades, mainly because
of myths, poverty, and traditions. In the country, a tradition often surfaces about men having a great
desire to have sexual intercourse with those who are pure and young because it will remove all of their

Jacques Lacan Essay
The theories of Jacques Lacan give explanation and intention to the narrator s actions throughout the
novel Surfacing . Although Margaret Atwood may not have had any knowledge of the French
psychoanalyst s philosophies, I feel that both were making inferences on behavior and psychology and
that the two undeniably synchronize with each other. I will first identify the complex philosophies of
Jacques Lacan and then demonstrate how the narrator falls outside of Lacan s view of society and how
this leads to her demand for retreat from that society in order to become whole .

This is the state to which the narrator wants to return. She is deeply disturbed by the identity that has
befallen her. I use the word befallen because it is this disparity, of having needs and no way to express
or fulfill them, that the narrator wants to escape from and return to the original state of nature . We
must understand the narrator s position in society in order to understand why she wants to return to the
REAL.
The second phase, the Imaginary, is where our sense of self is formed. It must be noted that the
process of forming a self is a settlement for having left the REAL and a labor to regain that oneness,
The fiction of the stable, whole, unified self that we see in the mirror becomes a compensation for
having lost the original oneness with the mother s body. In short, according to Lacan, we lose our
unity with the mother s body, the state of quot;nature, quot; in order to enter culture, but we protect
ourselves from the knowledge of that loss by misperceiving ourselves as not lacking anything as being
complete unto ourselves. (Klages, 2). The narrator early on in life has views of society, while she is

Symbolism In Dr Strangelove
Stanley Kubrick s, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, is a
political satire of the Cold War that displays the fear of nuclear devastation after World War II, which
created an atmosphere of suspicion, with everyone prepared and waiting for the bomb to drop.
Kubrick s film portrays a worst case scenario in which humans become the victims to the machines of
destruction they have created and depend on for safety. At a time when the whole country was terrified
of the Soviet Union, Kubrick s film portrayed the issue through humor, instead of fear. Through the
link of symbolism between a male s ego and the underlying sexual nature of war, a relationship

Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb challenges the beliefs of war
and equates war to a mockery created by sexually crippled men. The most symbolic scene in the film,
one that truly exemplifies what Kubrick was trying to show his audience, is the famous riding of the
bomb scene in which actor Slim Pickens howls with satisfaction and lust as he plummets toward earth
with an atomic bomb firmly between his legs. Kubrick s effect is to make the audience want to see that
bomb dropped which is the climax with Kong riding it. His mind far from fear or doubt, he is
exhilarated. The imagery of straddling the bomb, the intensity and satisfaction with which he
dislodges the bomb and ensures not only his own destruction but also those around him. Dr.
Strangelove, whose name captures the essence of the film is sexually awakened and regains the ability
to walk. The strange love in this movie is actually the love for the bomb, or the lust of one country for

What Is Examined Life Essay
n the immortal words of Socrates, The unexamined life is not worth living. Socrates certainly felt
strongly about his beliefs as he was willing to die for them and eventually did. But was it really worth
losing his life over? If so, will examining life make you happier? Life is worth examining, although
doing so will not always make people happy. The question then is why is it worth examining? It is
simple; the purpose of human beings is to grow to be better, something that cannot be achieved if we
do not examine life.
Even though we do not know what our purpose in life is, as a whole it can be agreed that humans seek
to improve themselves. Thinking back to human ancestral species the Homo erectus it is understood
that they did not simply accept the world for what was in front of them.
Rather, when opportunity for discovery was presented to them they set forth to it. For example, when
early hominin species discovered fire they did not simply walk away and accept the fact that it was a
part of nature and should therefore be left to be. Instead they questioned this aspect of nature and
through further examination were able to tame fire, an element that has long been credited for the rise
of human species.
Certainly it was well worth it for human ancestors to have examined life. Although in that situation it
brought happiness, this will not always be the case, allow me to elaborate. The
American government spends billions of dollars protecting its citizens from terrorist by

Cause And Effect Of Alcohol Abuse
Effects of Alcohol Abuse 15.1 million adults aged 18 and over suffer from alcohol abuse in the United
States. Alcohol abuse is the harmful use of alcohol, despite its negative consequences on the
individual, such as interfering with daily activities. Although some studies show that moderate alcohol
usage can benefit one s health, it is commonly agreed that the negatives heavily outweigh the
positives. About ten percent of children in the United States lives with a parent who abuses alcohol
and about 88,000 people die yearly from alcohol poisoning in the United States. Therefore, alcohol
abuse may have impacts on one s family life and their physiological state. To begin, alcohol abuse
may have an effect on one s family life. Children, growing up around a parent who abuses alcohol
may lead a life of both psychological and emotional problems, and these children may also be
vulnerable to alcohol related physical and/or verbal abuse. Alcoholic parents may also influence their
kids to grow up with the same habits, as children who have at least one alcoholic parent are about 3 4
times likely to abuse alcohol when they re older, compared to children that do not. In addition, having
alcoholic parents may influence a student s academics. In one study, 41% of addicted parents reported
that at least one of their children repeated a grade in school, 19% were involved in truancy, and 30%
had been suspended from school (cite). Students who have alcoholic parents are reported to have

against valid racial and ethnic groups in violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth
Amendment and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The use of math vocabulary can be defined as academic content language because it advancing the students understanding. In part 1 of my lesson at 3:08 into the video, I ask the students does anyone have a strategy that could help us or that they want to see? . This allows for me to the use the word strategy which is an example of academic content language. A second example of academic content language would be at around the same time, a student answers with the response of 6 . Kaedon replies an S with a cross sign and then comes up and draws the $ symbol. I used these questions to teach my students a new concept instead of just giving them the answers. Students go to learn from their peers. In order to support literacy in my lesson, I had the students read the dollars to make sure they were using the correct dollar bills. I was teaching them that reading allows for use to not get confused or mixed up by the five dollar bills with the one dollar bill. In my part 2 video of my lesson around 10:21, the students are trying to get to $20.89. The group up front attempts by using ones which confuses them. I say that s two dollars and one of the student response by saying five dollar because they have just read that off the five dollar bill. This allowed for them to develop that literacy connection so that can use reading skills when they are confused. • 3. Cyworld Marketing Case Analysis Cyworld Case Analysis Market Segmentation Cyworld s market can be segmented many different ways using various factors to create the segments. Cyworld can demographically segment its market using statistics such as age, sex, and country. This can be done by breaking down Cyworld s users based on male/female, current country of residence, and then further grouping the users into age categories of 13 18 years old, 19 29 years old, 30 39 years old, etc. Cyworld can gain information on its market by further segmenting its users based on specific aspects of the website, such as activity level, purchases, and the amount of connections. Valuation of User Types for Cyworld Between the Cyworld user classifications of an active user, a user who spends a lot of money on the site, and a user with a lot of connections, the most valuable to Cyworld is an active user. An active user is a Cyworld member that signs in to his/her profile on a consistent basis, multiple times per week. This type of user creates the most opportunities for Cyworld to produce income in various ways. Active users are the ones who engage more with the system, who are more likely to interact with advertising, who are more likely to spend money on virtual goods and currency (O Sullivan, 2011). A user who spends a lot of money on Cyworld is valuable, but their value to Cyworld is limited to only the purchase of items. If purchasing items goes out of style and becomes an infrequent occurrence, this type of user brings about little value to the website. A user with a lot of connections, or a member that has a lot of virtual relationships with other members, comes in at a close second in terms of value brought to Cyworld. This type of user brings about a higher possibility of purchasing items for their various connections, as described previously, but just because a Cyworld user has a lot of connections does not mean that he/she actively uses the website. A user with a lot of connections that never, or rarely, signs into Cyworld contributes little value to the website. High user activity levels allow Cyworld ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Affirmative Action Is Necessary Analysis America is said to be like a melting pot, a diverse land of people with all sorts of different cultures and backgrounds. But, how truly diverse is America? How diverse are our schools and our workplaces? Why Affirmative Action Is Necessary was published in 2015 to EBSCO by Anne Stokely. Stokely s argument is in favor of affirmative action because she believes it allows everyone to compete freely in the marketplace. Affirmative action continues to be a controversial idea in our society today. The issue at hand is if affirmative action is necessary. Does America need it? Is it fair? Is it actually helping minorities get ahead? Is affirmative action causing reverse discrimination? The targeted audience seems to be major corporations and education administrators. The main point of their thesis is affirmative action helps minority groups gain access to education and jobs that they would not usually have access to. The purpose of this article is to inform their audience why affirmative action is a necessary policy to have. Anne Stokely appears to be a more liberal writer than conservative. Stokely shows very good will, likeability, and humility. Stokelys approach towards the material is to use a variety of logos evidence and effective examples from history. Stokelys styles is very ... When I was a kid, me and my dad lived in Florida. On the weekends we would go out boating. Crystal clear water all around, the smell of the sea filling your nose, the not as pleasant taste of salt water in your mouth. Going out on the ocean was the best part of being there. When we moved we lost all that. We went to Greybull, Wyoming, a small town where my father grew up. I made a few friends and we all had lots of fun together. Labelle filed a complaint with the Canadian Human Rights Commission on September 3, 2009 against Rogers Communications Inc. The complainant, Labelle feels that Rogers Communications Inc. the respondent, discriminated against her because she is a woman. This falls under section 3 of the CHRA which covers and protects against sex discrimination. Labelle alleges she was treated differently compared to her male counterparts and was eventually fired from her position. The complainant filed this complaint on the grounds of sex discrimination. The Commission on the date of April 8, 2011 announced to the Tribunal and the alleged parties that is would not be involved in the hearing directly. They enclosed documentation and forwarded it to both parties concerning the information about legal council should they have any questions. A mediation date was set shortly after on April 19, 2011. At this point the Tribunal uses a courier service to contact all parties involved. This requires the recipient to sign for the documents being delivered. This presented an issue for the complainant from the beginning. The courier has history saved to record when a delivery is attempted and is either successful or unsuccessful. Allende and Peter Winn s Weavers of Revolution Essay Allende and Peter Winn s Weavers of Revolution In Peter Winn s Weavers of Revolution, a factory in Santiago, Chile fights for their independence against the Chilean government of the 1970 s. While this rebellion is going on, presidential elections are taking place and Salvador Allende is the presidential candidate which represents the common people. The relation between Allende and the people he represents is a unique one because at first this class, the working class, helps and supports Allende to become president, but then both parties realize their different plans for the future and the working class actually contributes to the downfall of Allende s presidency. Allende based his campaign around the unfairness of Chile s society to the working class, and the Yarur factory gave him the support he needed to win the election. Once Allende becomes elected, the two revolutions which were supposed to compliment each other actually start to work against each other. The first type of revolution is the revolution from below , which is characteristic of the workers in the Yarur rebelling against the Chilean government. The other type is the revolution from above , this was the revolution common of the higher class like Allende working towards workers rights. At first, the workers think that their revolution from below was only helping Allende s revolution from above. The workers did things like form unions for the first time, or were even so bold to strike against the mill in order to gain complete control over it. Strikes had happened before which were about things like wages or unions, but this was different for the fact that they wanted total control of the mill. Allende was forced to give the workers the power to control the mill. This is just one of the examples of how the revolution from below sometimes coincided with or complemented, but increasingly diverged from, the legalistic and modulated revolution from above (141). For the most part in fact, the strategies of Allende were disrupted by the revolution from below because of their need for extreme ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In simple terms we could define forensic linguistics as a field that acts as an interface between language, the law and crime where the law includes a variety of judicial matters, legislation and law enforcement (Coulthard Johnson, 2010: 199). Therefore, a forensic linguist may note findings resulting from research conducted within a variety of disciplines including, for example, theory of grammar, discourse analysis, conversation analysis and language and memory studies (Tiersma, 1999: 147). L Austin (1962) and John Searle (1969), have developed certain speech act theories in which it has been noted how utterances can perform certain functions that essentially go beyond the task of communicating information. These acts include those such as questioning, lying, promising, threatening and agreeing, and many of them can be illegal in certain circumstances. While many speech acts involve the essential factor of actor intent , many are intrinsically characterised by the effect on the receiver. While all language crimes then deal with the actor s intent (e.g. an individual must have the intent to solicit a crime to be guilty of solicitation) many also deal with the perlocutionary effect a speech act that doesn t make the receiver feel threatened is generally not a threat, regardless of the intent (Coulthard Johnson, 2010: 376). Aside from the act of threatening another individual, language crimes can take a variety of forms including bribery, extortion or solicitation (in terms of soliciting things such as illicit sex or murder) (Shuy, 2005: 3). However, the simple act of using offensive language can also be regarded as a language crime and, indeed, such actions have been widely legislated against. Prosecutions here however, are said to be rare often because people understand the hypocrisy involved in prosecuting another for something that most of us engage in at some point (Taylor, 1995: 224). Overview of the Australian Film Industry Australian Film Industry 1 Era before World War I Australian film industry had good and bad times or boom and bust (Stratton, 1990) in period of last 100 years and that is why it can be called a fragile industry. If we look at the history, era before 1914, we find out that Australia was counted as one of the biggest film making countries of the world. This Australian film industry took the honor of being first to produce world s first feature film in 1906, The Story of the Kelly Gang. The local movie production was on its peak in year, 1911 in which fifty one movies were released (Pike and Cooper, 1998). Although this number does not seem very impressive today but in those times, Australia was counted as the fastest film producing country. In only two years, between 1910 to 1912, more than 90 narrative films were produced and between 1906 to 1928, this number reached to 150 (Moran and Vieth, 2005) .This high production is never seen after that period. That s why this period before World War I was an ideal period for film industry, which never came back. Australian films were not only seen in Australia but all around the world through travelling exhibitions. Several films produced in Australia were internationally recognized and the actors and film makers starting their career in Australian film industry gained international reputations. Fekede Tuli Critical Review This is a critical review of Fekede Tuli s paper titled The Basis of Distinction between Qualitative and Quantitative Research in Social Science: Reflection on Ontological, Epistemological and Methodological Perspectives . This work looks at Fekede s publication with the view of showing how the power of persuasion has been employed by the author. As Neuman (2003), argues, there is no single, absolutely correct methodology to social science research but rather the methodologies represent different ways of looking at the world ways to observe, measure and understand social reality . The choice of a methodology by extension relies upon the nature of reality, the purpose of doing research, and the type of knowledge that can be produced as a result of one s decision to conduct a study onto a particular issue. He adds that interpretive researchers use qualitative research methodologies to investigate, interpret and describe social realities (ontology). In the case of the public companies, the acquisition premium is calculated as a percentage of the market capitalization of the target before the transaction is announced. Several factors explaining for the existence of acquisition premiums, synergies and control premium are most commonly identified. In order to determine the amount of goodwill on acquisition, the purchaser needs to recognize the fair value of all the identifiable assets acquired and the purchase consideration. • 15. How Did Plato Argue The Soul In this brief segment of Plato s work he is trying to argue that the soul, rather than being one, actually has different parts. He claims and tries to justify that the soul must have three different parts to it, each responsible for creating different urges that a person has. On page 111 of Plato s Republic he establishes that the same one thing will not experience opposites within the same one part of itself over the same thing, at the same time. So, therefore if someone finds this occurring in the soul it can be established that the soul is not one but instead made out of different parts. He then shows an example of this occurring in the soul in order to argue the soul does indeed have parts. On pages 114 and 115 he says that someone can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The premise of the same thing will not undergo opposites within the same part of itself in regards to the same thing at the exact same time, so therefore when the soul gives you two opposite urges (e.g. thirsty but you don t want to get a drink) it proves that the soul must have different parts, is a premise that I do indeed agree with. I believe what Plato is saying here as I do not think the same part of one s soul can be responsible for making someone have two completely opposite urges. I also agree with the premise that there is a third part to the soul, the spirit. At first I questioned it thinking that this was indeed one in the same with the rational but then the good point is made that small children are clearly full with spirit yet are not rational so therefore they cannot be one in the same. This argument sold me on the third part of the soul. The one argument I couldn t get on board with was when Plato wrote that thirst is just for drink, and not one of a specific kind. I think that personally one can be craving a specific type of drink, regardless of environment, (e.g. orange juice) and their thirst will not be quenched by any drink but by only the drink they are craving. Plato makes it seem that one cannot urge a specific drink but only drink in general. Although I do disagree with that specific part, in the end the overall argument was ... • 17. Role Of Women In The Epic Of Gilgamesh In The Epic of Gilgamesh, there are female characters who influence the timeline of events in the story. Ishtar, the goddess of love and Shamhat, a sacred prostitute, both played important roles throughout the epic. In this ancient story, women not only represent astuteness and dominion, but also deceit and destruction. These women could both use their sexuality and deceitfulness to influence the decisions and the lives of the men they encountered. • 25. The Impact Of Remuneration On The Workplace Essay It is universally acknowledged that remuneration is the key to drive the employees to be more productivity, enhance job satisfaction as well as the direction that determines the organizational behaviour of one. In the early 1900s, Taylor (1903) suggested that financial incentives were significant in improving efficiency of workers. However, the role of money has been revealed that it is not the sole factor to improve worker performance, while other factors need to be considered, as such human relations and social networks in the workplace, it is evident that these have become more important nowadays. Motivation defined by Kreitner (1995) is the process that gives behaviour purpose and direction. It is also defined as psychological drives which determine the behaviour, amount of effort put and degree of persistence in the face of obstacles (Kanfer 1990). Motivation contains both intrinsic and extrinsic sources (Weddell et al. 2013 p228). Intrinsically motivated behaviours are driven for self interest whereby extrinsically motivated behaviour is performed to satisfy own materiality or social rewards or to avoid punishment (Weddell et al. 2013 p228). According to Herzberg s motivation theory (1968), intrinsic to work mainly promotes job content which includes responsibilities, recognition, achievement, the work itself, growth and advancement, extrinsic, on the other hand, refers to the context of the job which includes pay, company policy, administrative and so on. • 37. Jacques Lacan Essay The theories of Jacques Lacan give explanation and intention to the narrator s actions throughout the novel Surfacing . Although Margaret Atwood may not have had any knowledge of the French psychoanalyst s philosophies, I feel that both were making inferences on behavior and psychology and that the two undeniably synchronize with each other. I will first identify the complex philosophies of Jacques Lacan and then demonstrate how the narrator falls outside of Lacan s view of society and how this leads to her demand for retreat from that society in order to become whole . Jacques Lacan was a French psychoanalyst that derived many of his theories from Sigmund Freud. His views of the conscious and unconscious being split and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the state to which the narrator wants to return. She is deeply disturbed by the identity that has befallen her. I use the word befallen because it is this disparity, of having needs and no way to express or fulfill them, that the narrator wants to escape from and return to the original state of nature . We must understand the narrator s position in society in order to understand why she wants to return to the REAL. The second phase, the Imaginary, is where our sense of self is formed. It must be noted that the process of forming a self is a settlement for having left the REAL and a labor to regain that oneness, The fiction of the stable, whole, unified self that we see in the mirror becomes a compensation for having lost the original oneness with the mother s body. In short, according to Lacan, we lose our unity with the mother s body, the state of quot;nature, quot; in order to enter culture, but we protect ourselves from the knowledge of that loss by misperceiving ourselves as not lacking anything as being complete unto ourselves. (Klages, 2). The narrator early on in life has views of society, while she is going through her scrapbook she notes, They were ladies, all kinds: holding up cans of cleanser, knitting, smiling, modeling toeless high heels and nylons with dark seams and pillbox hats with veils...I did want to be those things . Symbolism In Dr Strangelove Stanley Kubrick s, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, is a political satire of the Cold War that displays the fear of nuclear devastation after World War II, which created an atmosphere of suspicion, with everyone prepared and waiting for the bomb to drop. The most symbolic scene in the film, one that truly exemplifies what Kubrick was trying to show his audience, is the famous riding of the bomb scene in which actor Slim Pickens howls with satisfaction and lust as he plummets toward earth with an atomic bomb firmly between his legs. Socrates certainly felt strongly about his beliefs as he was willing to die for them and eventually did. But was it really worth losing his life over? If so, will examining life make you happier? Life is worth examining, although doing so will not always make people happy. The question then is why is it worth examining? It is simple; the purpose of human beings is to grow to be better, something that cannot be achieved if we do not examine life. Even though we do not know what our purpose in life is, as a whole it can be agreed that humans seek to improve themselves. Thinking back to human ancestral species the Homo erectus it is understood that they did not simply accept the world for what was in front of them. Rather, when opportunity for discovery was presented to them they set forth to it. For example, when early hominin species discovered fire they did not simply walk away and accept the fact that it was a part of nature and should therefore be left to be. Instead they questioned this aspect of nature and through further examination were able to tame fire, an element that has long been credited for the rise of human species. Certainly it was well worth it for human ancestors to have examined life. Although in that situation it brought happiness, this will not always be the case, allow me to elaborate.
