Could Schizophrenia Be the Answer to the Mysterious...
Could Schizophrenia be the Answer to the
Mysterious Vampire Legend?
The vampire legend and many behaviors and experiences of schizophrenics seem to share many
common traits. The traits that are most recognizable are fears of being enclosed, periods of
semistarvation or complete starvation, which can be associated with periodic gorging, reversal of the
day night cycle, and a preoccupation with or dread of mirrors (Kayton 304). Though the term
schizophrenia or demence precoce was only introduced in 1852 (Boyle 43), behaviors of people
affected by this illness have been documented much earlier.
The concept of a dead person returning in his living physical form and feeding on the living is
considered a vampire. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here is where an important part of the legend draws reference. According to Kayton, the vampire
(young suicide) was known to either devour or steal the hearts of his victims. When the heart was
stolen, it was placed over a fire to create an intense unfulfilled love in the bosom of the person it was
taken from (307). In Dracula we sort of get that sense the three vampire women wanted this from
Jonathan. Because when the Count told them that they could not have him, one of them boldly told
him: You yourself never loved (55). Also, according to schizophrenic suicide history the family
members who were often attacked were mainly members who showed their guilt over the oral
deprivation onto the fantasized vampire (patient) with a feared oral attack (Kayton 311). That would
be the logic of why the victims of the vampire are usually family members or persons they love; as we
witness this with Lucy as she tried to kiss Arthur a two different occasions when she became a
vampire. This theory also suggests that the parent s role is very important and their actions with the
child of either showing affection or rejection when the child attempts to become close to them
(McMahon 212).
Besides the removal of the heart, unmistakably, the most important part of the legend is that the
vampire attacks his victims by sucking out their blood. There are claims that the attack of the vampire
shows consistency with some of the unconscious fantasies of schizophrenic

These symptoms are: Delusions which are strange beliefs that are not based in reality. Another
positive symptom are hallucinations which makes people hear voices, feel touched when they are not
touched and see things that are not really there. The disorganized symptoms are the symptoms that
affect a person s ability to think clearly. These symptoms include talking in sentences that do not make
sense which causes difficulty in communicating; changing quickly from one thought to the next;
moving slowly; being unable to make choices; and forgetting or losing things and repeating the same
steps, such as walking in circles. The negative symptoms are the symptoms that reflect the
nonappearance of certain normal behaviors and these symptoms usually appears first and then the
other type of symptoms occur. Negative symptoms can be confused with depression. These symptoms
are: lack of emotions and expressions; withdrawal from friends, family and social activities; reduced
energy; loss of pleasure or interest in life; poor hygiene; and catatonia, a condition in which a person
becomes fixed in a single position for a very long time. There are four basic subtypes of
Schizophrenia. These are paranoid schizophrenia which is when people are preoccupied with false

Use Theories Of Emotional Intelligence Of Daniel Goleman
It can be concluded ,that leadership requirement may vary from situation to another ,so it is important
to be flexible on various kinds of situations .Many authoritative leaders use penalties against their
employee that will lead to tension ,absence of innovation and moral fall ,that can affect the
performance of the organization. Also lessez faire style can bring to staff an informal selection for
guidance that might be successful in certain environment, yet can fail in another .Personally,
democratic and behavioural style are highly concerned with my subordinates with whom I feel open
and easy to communicate and deliver to achieve goals ,so flexibility doesn t mean a transformation in
personality it s all about changing tactics in various situation that a manager can face . 1.2 Use

America s Tax Policy Is Not Appropriate For The United...
A very controversial topic in today s society is America s tax policy. Currently, there is three different
solutions to the current tax system. One is lowering the rate for progressive tax, our current tax
system, which is progressively higher tax rate with more income. The second is fair tax, which is
where people are only taxed for buying goods, not their income. The most suitable solution, is where
everyone is treated fairly and must pay the same percentage of tax; this is known as flat tax. Our
current tax policy is not appropriate for the United States of America.
The current tax system is named progressive tax. Progressive tax is established off the people who
make more money pay more in taxes while the people who make less money pay less in taxes. This
system does not fit in well with today s society because the more compensated are charged much more
than the less compensated, the top 1% of taxpayers have consistently paid more in federal income
taxes than the bottom 90% since 2003 and that share has increased almost every year since 1980
(Phillips). Having the top 1% of taxpayers pay more than the super majority of the country is
extraordinarily unfair to the 1%. A main principle of the United States is equality, so the tax policy
should be more equal. With flat tax enacted every person would be paying the identical percentage of
tax. With this in mind, it is not exactly equal, but very close. On the flip side, it does give the lower
income people a break while

What Are The Differences Between The World And Disneyland
Disney World vs. Disneyland
Many people wonder if there is much of a difference between Disney World and Disneyland.
Travelers have questions like, Which one is more worth going to or Which one is cheaper? Those who
have visited both parks may already know some distinct differences, but there are some things people
don t realize. While Disney World and Disneyland seem almost identical, their accommodations,
attractions, and size are surprisingly very different, which helps prove Disney World is the better
option when trying to really get the full experience.
The first major difference is attractions. While both parks may have some of the same titled rides, they
can be very different versions of each other. Suzanne Rowan Kelleher of tripsavvy.com states,
Since the Magic Kingdom was based on Disneyland, the two parks are very similar in layout and
share some but not all of the same attractions. Yet even when both parks offer the same ride, there are
frequently differences. For example, the Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at
Disneyland are longer and considerably different to the Disney World versions.
This gives a clear example of how the rides have the same name but can vary greatly. While both
parks have attractions that the other doesn t, Disney world has many more unique attractions than
Disneyland.
The second major difference is size. It is commonly known that Disney World is much bigger than
Disneyland. After the first Disney park,

Septic Tank Myths
To most homeowners, a septic tank system is one of the most intriguing parts of their home s
plumbing infrastructure and the smelliest as well.
Here at Halls Plumbers, we take pride in knowing that our customers are well informed before they
begin this home repair project, so let s examine the top seven biggest myths that exist about your
home s septic tank system.
1. There s no need to service a septic tank.
In reality, septic tanks need to be emptied every two to three years depending on the capacity of the
tank and the number of household residents. That being said, a septic tank system can typically last up
to 30 years sometimes even up to 50 years.
2. A septic tank is more important than a drain field.
Both are crucially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bacteria additives are unnecessary.
Bacteria in the tank helps maintain a healthy environment for breaking down waste and replenishing
effective volumes of bacteria.
5. No pumping is needed if you re using bacteria.
Completely false. A tank must be emptied regularly once it is full bacteria or no bacteria.
6. Household cleaners are not really harmful to your tank system.
Any chemical thrown into the septic tank system can kill beneficial bacteria if too much is discarded
into the tank.
7. Garbage disposals, water softeners and large amounts of water can t harm the system.
The truth is that the garbage disposal content increases solid waste before it can decompose. Water
softeners and high volumes of water only add to the amount of waste water that needs processing.
Moderation is the key here.

Essay about Gangs
Being that the closest that I have ever come to gangs or gangs violence is in television of movies, this
topic intrigued me. What makes a person want to become part of something that is so violent and
dangerous? Why would someone risk everything to put their lives on the line for people that are not
even their blood relatives? As I read the material that I found in the library about gangs, I found out a
lot about how this children s though process works. They believe that the gang members are their
family; to them it is not seen as the sinister organization of careless violence as it is to us quot;normal
quot; Americans. To them the gang is their family.
Children are joining gangs at younger ages; our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some cases they are traveling out of state to spread their violence and crime.
Gang members range in age from 8 to 22 years old, but there are exceptions. Some gangs have
members as old as 40. Trying to explain why children become part of a gang is something that has
been a question for sometime. The reason given most often is that gangs to these children are like a
family. So many of the gang members come from broken homes, or are victims of child abuse. The
gang to these kids believe it or not is like a safe haven from the violence that they see at home.
Also the industry can be partially blamed for the increase in children joining gangs. Not to say that
just because a child likes quot;gangster quot; rap and watches violent T.V. shows and movies, that they
are going to join a gang. But if you add the violence in the home, abuse, neglect and the media then
you have a recipe for a child that will be more likely to join a gang. The main word that I feel can be
attributed to children joining gangs or become delinquent is supervision. The lack of supervision by a
parent or responsible adult can lead the child to wander and become influenced strongly by the wrong
people. The media also glorifies gang violence, with the language, colors, and symbols. In videos we

The Shinto Religion
Japanese mythology and folklore make up an extremely large portion of the Shinto religion, of which
approximately 2,700,001 people follow worldwide (Pew Research Center). What has kept people
fastened to this religion as opposed to the larger faiths such as: Christianity, Buddhism, and Hindus?
The majority of people who are researching different religions do not look at less common religions
such as this one. Shinto is a series of Japanese myths and folktales that are still passed from parent to
child, many of which are quite interesting. Japanese myths and folklore were passed around orally
until 712 AD. When the Kojiki, Records of Ancient Matters, was written; now anyone can access

This is a tale about a lowly stonecutter named Tasaku, who each day, chiseled at the stone mountains.
He hewed the stone that made up the great palaces and temples. He never asked for anything except to
work every day which pleased the spirit who lived in the mountains.one day, the price went by with
this gigantic parade of soldiers, musicians, and dancers. He wore robes of beautiful silk and his
servants carried him aloft. Tasaku watched the parade until he could no longer see it. Tasaku didn t cut
anymore stone that day,, he returned to the hut, wishing he were the prince. He truly envied the prince,
he looked up and wish, out loud, that he could be rich like the prince. The spirit who lived in the
mountains heard his wish. So that night, after the stonecutter was asleep, the spirit transformed him
into a prince. Tasaku was rapturous. He lived in a palace, had fancy clothes with the finest silk. He had
servants who bowed to him and musicians who played whatever he wanted. He was in command of all
the great armies and ruled over the land. In the afternoons he would walk in his garden, he loved his
flowers but the sun made all the plants shrivel up. He knelt over and looked at the withered plants and
saw the great power of the sun. He wanted to have as much power as the sun so he asked the spirit to
change him into the sun, and the spirit heard his wish. The spirit

Sherlock Holmes Is A Hero Analysis
Sherlock Holmes is no hero In most stories, the protagonists are celebrated by the readers and their
questionable actions are excused. There is no hero like the intelligent Sherlock Holmes, who solves
crimes with the power of deduction. However, what if Sherlock was not a good person, like they lead
you to believe? His will to do inhumane things without a second thought, how he likes mocking others
and him letting others suffer suggest he isn t the hero the Sherlock Holmes series needs. Sherlock
Holmes will kill to finish a case. In The Speckled Band, Sherlock viciously attacks a highly venomous
snake to get it to turn on its master, Dr.Roylott. He admits himself that, In this way I am no doubt
indirectly responsible for Dr. Grimesby Roylott s death, and I cannot say that it is likely to weigh very
heavily upon my conscience. (28). Not only did he just admit that he is responsible for having killed a
man,he also admits that he does not feel bad. In Sherlock s defense, Roylott wasn t a nice guy and he
had it coming. However, he has no excuse for his actions in The Adventure of Charles Augustus
Milverton. Sherlock pretends to be engaged to a maid at Charles s house to get info on Augustus so he
can break into his house and steal the love letters (7). Thus Sherlock pretends to love someone then
after that person is not needed he just leaves the poor woman heartbroken? When Sherlock discusses
his plans to break into Charles s house to Watson he says [...] I mean to burgle Milverton house to
night. Watson replies For heaven s sake, Holmes, think what you are doing (8). So even his best and
only friend Watson is reluctant to follow him. They then witnessed Charles s murder but they do not
do anything about it (16). Clearly Sherlock is not a good man.
They say knowledge is power. Knowledge is a good thing but Sherlock can not get enough of it. He
clearly knows a lot. He could tell Jabez Wilson had been to China by looking at one tattoo. According
to him The fish which you have tattooed immediately above your wrist could only have been done in
China. (The Red Headed League, 3). Think of all the good he could do with all his knowledge and
power. Instead, he uses his knowledge mainly to tease

The Invention Of Our Modern Day Fracking
Yes! Greater independence from foreign oil would be a positive, and yes, cleaner air is good for your
health, and most certainly, everyone loves lower gas prices. According to a spokesman from Pinnacle,
a Halliburton service company, In the more than 60 years following those first treatments, more than
two million fracturing treatments have been pumped with not one documented case of any treatment
polluting an aquifer not one. ( Shooters A Fracking History ). This statement may lead you to believe
there is no need for concern, but there is a big pink elephant in the room. Arguments against these
statements would prove futile, at a first glance, but understanding the true cost, to the environment and
our safety could prove more valuable than the money earned. The beginnings of our modern day
fracking process reside in a U.S. Patent No. 59,936, issued to a Col. Edward Roberts, in November of
1866, during the civil war. Robert s idea, dubbed Exploding Torpedo , involved dropping artillery
rounds down a well, filling it with water, to concentrate the concussion, thereby fracturing the
surrounding rock, allowing for greater access to the gas or oil below. (Hicks, See an Exploding
Torpedo ). This process has improved greatly and the Environmental Protection Agency now refers to
hydraulic fracking as the entire process, from the gathering of water used until waste disposal. What
was once thought to be cost prohibitive is now more cost effective than ever. Once

Wonder Woman Children always looking for a positive role model to have, and many end up choosing
superheroes they see in their favorite comic books or ones they have seen in the media. Since children
are so easily affected by things they see in their childhood, having discriminatory elements in these
influential characters may be problematic. The Wonder Woman Precedent: Female (Super) Heroism
on Trial written by Julie D. O Reilly, was published in the Journal of American Culture in 2005. O

To some, wonder woman is regarded as a feminist icon. However, O Reilly does not believe so
because of the submissive themes that her creator included in the comics.
Though Wonder Woman is one of the most popular female superheroes who seemed to be equal to her
male counterparts, she had to demonstrate if she was worthy enough to become a superhero through
set trials. Wonder Woman was not born into her title; she had to earn it unlike all the male superheroes
that came before and after her. Born Princess Diana from the Amazon, she had to compete in a series
of extremely difficult physical trials and once she proved her worth in a final life or death challenge,
the title of Wonder Woman was bestowed upon her. O Reilly gives multiple examples in her article
about the differences male and female superheroes have. For instance, the popular Superman comics
came out a few years earlier. Clark Kent s choice to fight crime was never questioned or challenged.
He did not have to prove his abilities to a higher authority in order to become a superhero. He simply
chose to wear a cape and enforce justice. O Reilly explains, ...The resolution of heroic trials, in their
various forms, differs significantly

International growth/ New Market Disney has an opportunity to expand its movie production to such

Further, there was one controller in the Park City head office who she would consult to discuss the
differences in accounts across the stores. She also offered monthly bonuses to her store managers if
they were able to meet the monthly sales forecasts and was quite generous in the amounts offered for

Financial Health Of A Company
Liquidity Ratios The financial health of a business greatly depends on its ability to maintain current
commitments and obligations. Liquidity or the ability to generate cash from current assets to meet
short term obligations as well as unforeseen responsibility is important for the subsistence of a
company. A reasonable level of liquidity is essential to the survival of a company, as poor cash control
is one of the main reasons for business failure. (Pyke, 2007) Through utilization of tools, such as
liquidity ratios, or financial metrics, to evaluate the company s ability to meet current business
obligations, should the debt needs to be settled, we are able to assess its immediate financial strength.
Liquidity ratios provide creditors as well as businesses a quick analysis tool, using data, which are
readily available from annual financial statements, to complete these assessments. These ratios are
critical to creditors and are the most widely used ratios, perhaps next to profitability ratios. (Joe Lan,
2002) Liquidity ratios include current ratio, quick ratio (also referred to as acid test ratio), net working
capital ratio, and cash ratio. Current ratio is the most basic or fundamental of the four and focuses
mainly on current assets, while quick ratio is more stringent, eliminating inventory and prepaid
expenses, as both are more difficult to liquidate (Morningstar, 2016). Cash ratio is the most
conservative , as it mainly focuses on cash and investments

Generation Y employees are those employees born during the 1980s and early 1990s. There are
actually advantages of hiring Generation Y employees. In order to imply those advantages from
Generation Y to benefit the company, there are some measures which need to be carried out. On the
other hand, there are also disadvantages of hiring a Generation Y employee, therefore steps have to be
taken to lessen the damage or loss to the company. First and foremost, Generation Y tends to be more
tech savvy than other generation. In the favour to increase the benefit of company from this aspect,
company makes good use of this advantage owned by Generation Y. Company should provide more

Baja California Peninsula
Case Study: Baja California Peninsula
The Baja California Peninsula is the second largest Peninsula in the world just behind the Malay
Peninsula. Its land mass divides the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California. It is located in the north
side of Mexico. The two coasts along the Baja California Peninsula vary tremendously, while the one
facing the Pacific Ocean has cool water and occasionally heavy surf, the other one has generally
calmer waters.
Opportunities and Benefits
The Baja California Peninsula offers the people living there the benefits of having a great range of
water and species, therefore the people have several opportunities, as having fishing as their main
source of food and having plenty of tourism, as being well known for their beautiful beaches, that
helps to increase the city s economy.

These processes are affecting the existence of the spit, the lagoon and the land. Tropical storms have

How Did Adrienne Rich Claim My Education
When speaking at Mills college in 1977, Adrienne Rich admonished the new graduates to claim their
education rather than expecting to receive it. The difference in language between active and passive
voice really gets to her point. Some may settle for using the passive voice, I was educated by San Jose
State University , but Adrienne rich s advice is to use the active voice, I claimed my education at San
Jose State University . In the next four years, by using the skills I learn at San Jose State, I plan to
actively claim my education. As Adrienne Rich spoke to a college full of women, she continuously
pointed out that education is not something to take for granted, and should not be looked at passively.
Education is a responsibility she remarked, Responsibility to yourself means that you don t fall for
shallow and easy solutions. On the other hand, the Youtube video shows a student who does not take
responsibility for their education, and basically exemplifies the student Adrienne Rich advises against.

INTRODUCTION:
Mitochondrion produces the energy that cell needs by breaking down sugars, fatty acids and amino
acids to CO2 and H2O. In this process, which is called cellular respiration, the chemical energy in
sugar, fatty acid and amino acid molecules is captured as ATP. Krebs cycle is a part of the cellular
respiration that consists of series of reactions. And succinate dehydrogenase is one of the enzymes that
is used in this cycle. It basically catalyzes the oxidation of succinate to fumarate. In this reaction,
succinate reduces a FAD molecule, which eventually donates its electrons to coenzyme Q. However,
Azide prevents FADH2 from giving its electrons to coenzyme Q, rather than an artificial electron
acceptor, DCIP takes the electrons. DCIP is a dark blue solution that gets lighter as it gains electrons.
As DCIP gets lighter, its absorbance will decrease. So, the rate of the reaction can be relatively
observed by looking at the absorbance values of DCIP since the reaction processes, DCIP gains
electrons and gets lighter in color. By spectrophotometry we took the absorbance values.
Spectrophotometer is used in the process, which sends beams of light to the sample and measures the
intensity of the light that passes through the sample. This way we can

The Advantages of Virtual Oscilloscopes
1.INTRODUCTION
Electromagnetic oscillograph was used in early days for analyzing the signals followed by cathode ray
oscilloscopes. This was done for the need of higher bandwidth. Digital storage oscilloscopes are now
widely used because of their high input impedance which allows us to analyze both analog and digital
signals. DSOs are equipped with A/D and D/A converters which help in storing of data in digital form
and displaying it in analog form.
The major drawbacks of using a DSO are its cost and size. It is difficult to move them from place to
place for ease of work. It can be overcome by using a PC as an oscilloscope with software that acts as
the interface. Many works including development of PC based virtual oscilloscopes using MATLAB
has been done. The data acquisition device was fabricated using the analog to digital converters,
control logic timing circuitries and the GUI was built using MATLAB software.
Compared to traditional oscilloscopes, Virtual Oscilloscopes have a lot of advantages on the use and
function. The captured waveforms can be stored as data and used for future references. The accuracy
of measurement was also high along with waveform uniformity and stability. The option of multi
window display mode can be used to control a large number of job sites to monitor working
conditions at the same time.
To reduce the cost of the system, the data acquisition was done using built in sound card of the PC in
place of DAC. This work was done using LABVIEW as

Tacit Agenda Of A Literary Approach To The Bible
Bible can be approached not only historically or generically but also literarily and this article, The
Tacit Agenda of a Literary Approach to the Bible, focuses on Leithwort which is repeated word that
helps to see Bible literarily. Buber and Rosenzweig think that Bible is more than just a Biblical text,
but it is more beautiful and well crafted literature and they also view the bible philosophically and
looked for deeper meaning. Rosenzwig claims that author s meaning could be interpreted differently
to the readers as one word has multiple meanings. Also, there is word called Leithwort. Leithwort is
the one of the way that Bible uses as a literature method of expressing the idea. Leithwort means
repeating same rooted word and by saying same rooted word over and over again it holds a powerful
meaning. Therefore, Burber says that it is important to understand and interpret properly Leithwort for

how important Leithwort is. As mentioned above, Leithwort is repeating same rooted word over again

The Development Of Nature And Nurture In Language Development
The basis of language development theories revolves around the idea that, either nature or nurture are
more influential than the other in the development of language in children. Language development as
defined by, Menyuk, is the acquisition and growth of a societies chosen method of communication,
which occurs due to a culmination of cognitive growth and environmental experiences (2005). Nature,
is concerned with the biological makeup of an individual that influences their ability to acquire
language including, genes and brain function, alternatively, nurture is environmental factors including,
culture, family, and experiences (Fellows Oakley, 2014). Nature and nurture both play vital yet highly
diverse roles in the acquisition of language and its development. Analysis of the process of language
acquisition will reveal that both nature and nurture are vital for successful language development of
children. The process by which language is learnt or acquired differs by theory, specifically two
alternate perspectives display the basis of nature and nurture. The first theory to be discussed stems off
the basis of nurture, the behaviourist theory. This theory draws upon the concept of nature, suggesting
behaviour is learnt through experience and reinforced by rewards (Fellows Oakley, 2014). This
perspective states children learn from and imitate their surroundings and they are rewarded by
responses and the success of their communication, this is an exemplar of acquisition

Roland Barthes The Rhetoric Of The Image Analysis
In his essay The Rhetoric of The Image, Roland Barthes explores the relationship between image and
meaning. He centres his discussion around the advertisement as advertising is a medium in which
there is an intended message being sent to the viewer. Barthes puts forward that if an image contains
signs, in advertising the signs are full , as these signs are formed with the viewer in mind so that the
intended message is not missed.
Barthes states that there are three messages that comprise a reading of an image:
The Linguistic message
The Iconic (symbolic/ connotated) message
The Denotated message (comprised of the physical objects within the image)
The linguistic message is that which is provided by text and, according to Barthes, is ... Show more

It creates an illogical connection between here now and the there then . As the photograph is a means
of recording a moment, it always contains stupefying evidence of this is how it was . In this way, the
denoted image can naturalise the connoted image as photographs retain a kind of natural being there
of objects ; that is, the quality of having recorded a moment in time. Barthes stresses that as
technology continues to develop the diffusion of information (and notably of images), the more it
provides the means of masking the constructed meaning under the appearance of the given meaning
(P159 60).
Connotation or the iconic message is not as easily explained as either the denotive or linguistic
messages. Significantly Barthes has left the discussion of this message to the very end of his essay.
The signs that constitute connotation are discontinuous. There is no definite way in which to interpret
the separate, connotative message and in the composition of the three (denotative, connotative and
linguistic) signs an aesthetic signified is carried. In much the same way as in text; when intonation is
applied, it is a separate signifier than that of the text itself in a linguistic

My Personal Statement On Elementary Education
I was home on leave after serving 15 months in Iraq, spending time with my family and connecting
with people I haven t seen in a while. My mother arranged for me to speak to my brother s 3rd grade
class since they had written letters to me while I was deployed. It was something I felt that I owed
since the letters were cheerful and really helped when I was over there. I was a bit nervous because I
have never done something like this before, public speaking was not a strong suit of mine. While
visiting with the students and answering questions I fell in love with being in the classroom. After
finishing my commitment to the military, I continued my education and got my degree in Elementary
Education. I am currently finishing up my 3rd year in teaching 2nd grade and love every minute of it.
Critical thinking is something that should be taking place during every lesson. I engage my students in

also foster thoughtful discussions during out social learning lessons, such as encouraging healthy
debate. Being able to communicate and elaborate their thinking is important. Because I teach at the
primary level so sometimes in order to get students to engage in critical thinking, I have to model it

Compare And Contrast The United States Vs The Congo
United States Versus the Congo
Do you ever think about how lucky you are? You should. You live in one of many countries that cares
for its citizens. Living in America you have opportunities that other countries will never have. For
example, there are many third world countries that struggle daily to keep multiple citizens alive. These
citizens have to fight for their lives and sometimes never get any form of medical help. Whereas in
America we have many different resources that allow us to be a strong world power, if we lost citizens
by the hundreds weekly we would be a country in need. Many countries in Africa are considered third
world countries because they are overpopulated and under developed.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), located in Central Africa, struggles daily because the
government fails. The country has been in civil conflicts for nearly a decade, this however is not the
main health hazard. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the Congo was a popular location for slave trade,

Breakin Movie Analysis
After watching the movie, Breakin , I find that the film was inspirational, influential and motivational.
Looking at how the young street dancers, Turbo and Ozone as well as Kelly, initially a Jazz dancer to

idea on what hip hop was about, it also shows the true feelings of the break dancers when they are

themselves. They showcase different moves of break dance in the battle, to fight back against their
opponents.
This movie also gives me an idea on hip hop in the 80s. I can clearly see the differences in Hip hop
culture when it was being introduced in the 80s and hip hop that is on going right now in the 20s. One
of the differences was the fashion. In the 80s, tight fitting top, baggy trousers and belt were seen on

Pop Rocks are a fun candy that have been enjoyed over the years. As soon as you put them in your

Pop Rocks? Everyone has eaten the popping candy, but have you ever wondered what makes them

Most hard candy is consisted of sugar, corn syrup, water, and flavoring. You heat the ingredients

temperature that the hard candy is heated at is 300 degrees Fahrenheit. After the temperature is raised,

Plagiarism Is The Wrongful Appropriation And Stealing And...
Plagiarism is the wrongful appropriation and stealing and publication of another author s language,
thoughts, ideas, or expressions and the representation of them as one s own original work.[1][2] The
idea remains problematic with unclear definitions and unclear rules.[3][4][5] The modern concept of
plagiarism as immoral and originality as an ideal emerged in Europe only in the 18th century,
particularly with the Romantic movement.
Plagiarism is considered academic dishonesty and a breach of journalistic ethics. It is subject to
sanctions like penalties, suspension, and even expulsion. Recently, cases of extreme plagiarism have
been identified in academia.[6]
Plagiarism is not a crime per se but in academia and industry, it is a serious ethical offense,[7][8] and
cases of plagiarism can constitute copyright infringement.

decisions. Manley Pointer arrived one day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hulga closes her heart just as she rejects her body. This deals with the concept of illusion vs. reality
because, Hulga feels that she is ugly therefore she changes her name to fit the way she feels about
herself. Finally the last example of illusion vs. reality is the constant disagreeance between Hulga and
her mother. Hulga s mother, Mrs. Hopewell, convinced that Hulga would have been better without a
useless PhD. degree in philosophy , has no comprehension of the one true meaning of life to her
daughter. Mrs. Hopewell feels that she can not brag on Hulga because, she sees her daughter as
unsuccessful in life due to the meaninglessness of her degree. She is also upset with the fact that
Hulga, formally known as Joy changes her name to better fit her personality. She feels that joy is a
beautiful name and that Hulga is opposite from her view of herself. In final analysis the glass eye
relates to the overall theme of the story illusion vs. reality because, the characters in the story see their

The Similarities And Differences Of Basketball Vs....
There are many similarities and differences between pro basketball and college. There are many
different rules between pro and college level. The NBA consist of 32 professional teams, but the
college level has 347 division 1 schools that develop players and make them grow into being a
professional athlete. When coming out of high school, you get to choose what school you want to play
for. Most athletes pick the biggest school with the biggest fan base. That way these players will be
noticed and scouted before going pro. The professional level is completely different because you enter
the draft. You don t get to choose where or who you play for after the draft. There are so many
differences and similarities between the two. A difference between the two are that in the NBA you
can foul six times before fouling out but in the NCAA you get only 5. Fouling out results in you sitting
on the bench for the rest of the game without playing but just watching. In the NBA after five fouls the
opposing team is put in the bonus, but in the NCAA it takes seven fouls to be put into the bonus. The
bonus for the NBA is when you get fouled you get two free throws. In the NCAA you get a term
called One and one . It s where you shoot one free throw and make it you get a chance at another, but
if you miss the first shot you don t get another shot. The tenth foul in college basketball results in the
double bonus where you will be allowed to shoot two free throws in a row even if you miss one.

The way you look at someone can communicate many things, including interest, affection, hostility, or
attraction. Eye contact is also important in maintaining the flow of conversation and for gauging the
other person s response. Gestures are woven into the fabric of our daily lives. We wave, point, beckon,
and use our hands when we re arguing or speaking animatedly expressing ourselves with gestures
often without thinking. However, the meaning of gestures can be very different across cultures and
regions, so it s important to be careful to avoid misinterpretation. For example, in American culture
agreement might be indicated by the head going up and down, whereas in India, a side to side head
movement might mean the same thing. We also look to posture to provide cues about the
communicator; posture can indicate self confidence, aggressiveness, fear, guilt, or anxiety. Consider
how your perceptions of people are affected by the way they sit, walk, stand up, or hold their head.
The way you move and carry yourself communicates a wealth of information to the world. This type
of nonverbal communication includes your posture, bearing, stance, and subtle movements. Tactile:
We communicate a great deal through touch. Think about the messages given by the following: a firm
handshake, a timid tap on the shoulder, a warm bear hug, a reassuring pat on the back, a patronizing
pat on the head, or a

  • 2. Could Schizophrenia Be the Answer to the Mysterious... Could Schizophrenia be the Answer to the Mysterious Vampire Legend? The vampire legend and many behaviors and experiences of schizophrenics seem to share many common traits. The traits that are most recognizable are fears of being enclosed, periods of semistarvation or complete starvation, which can be associated with periodic gorging, reversal of the day night cycle, and a preoccupation with or dread of mirrors (Kayton 304). Though the term schizophrenia or demence precoce was only introduced in 1852 (Boyle 43), behaviors of people affected by this illness have been documented much earlier. Here is where an important part of the legend draws reference. According to Kayton, the vampire (young suicide) was known to either devour or steal the hearts of his victims. When the heart was stolen, it was placed over a fire to create an intense unfulfilled love in the bosom of the person it was taken from (307). In Dracula we sort of get that sense the three vampire women wanted this from Jonathan. Because when the Count told them that they could not have him, one of them boldly told him: You yourself never loved (55). Also, according to schizophrenic suicide history the family members who were often attacked were mainly members who showed their guilt over the oral deprivation onto the fantasized vampire (patient) with a feared oral attack (Kayton 311). That would be the logic of why the victims of the vampire are usually family members or persons they love; as we witness this with Lucy as she tried to kiss Arthur a two different occasions when she became a vampire. This theory also suggests that the parent s role is very important and their actions with the child of either showing affection or rejection when the child attempts to become close to them (McMahon 212). Besides the removal of the heart, unmistakably, the most important part of the legend is that the vampire attacks his victims by sucking out their blood. • 6. America s Tax Policy Is Not Appropriate For The United... A very controversial topic in today s society is America s tax policy. Currently, there is three different solutions to the current tax system. One is lowering the rate for progressive tax, our current tax system, which is progressively higher tax rate with more income. The second is fair tax, which is where people are only taxed for buying goods, not their income. The most suitable solution, is where everyone is treated fairly and must pay the same percentage of tax; this is known as flat tax. Our current tax policy is not appropriate for the United States of America. The current tax system is named progressive tax. Progressive tax is established off the people who make more money pay more in taxes while the people who make less money pay less in taxes. This system does not fit in well with today s society because the more compensated are charged much more than the less compensated, the top 1% of taxpayers have consistently paid more in federal income taxes than the bottom 90% since 2003 and that share has increased almost every year since 1980 (Phillips). Having the top 1% of taxpayers pay more than the super majority of the country is extraordinarily unfair to the 1%. A main principle of the United States is equality, so the tax policy should be more equal. With flat tax enacted every person would be paying the identical percentage of tax. With this in mind, it is not exactly equal, but very close. On the flip side, it does give the lower income people a break while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Travelers have questions like, Which one is more worth going to or Which one is cheaper? Those who have visited both parks may already know some distinct differences, but there are some things people don t realize. While Disney World and Disneyland seem almost identical, their accommodations, attractions, and size are surprisingly very different, which helps prove Disney World is the better option when trying to really get the full experience. The first major difference is attractions. While both parks may have some of the same titled rides, they can be very different versions of each other. Suzanne Rowan Kelleher of tripsavvy.com states, Since the Magic Kingdom was based on Disneyland, the two parks are very similar in layout and share some but not all of the same attractions. Yet even when both parks offer the same ride, there are frequently differences. For example, the Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at Disneyland are longer and considerably different to the Disney World versions. This gives a clear example of how the rides have the same name but can vary greatly. While both parks have attractions that the other doesn t, Disney world has many more unique attractions than Disneyland. The second major difference is size. Here at Halls Plumbers, we take pride in knowing that our customers are well informed before they begin this home repair project, so let s examine the top seven biggest myths that exist about your home s septic tank system. 1. There s no need to service a septic tank. In reality, septic tanks need to be emptied every two to three years depending on the capacity of the tank and the number of household residents. Any chemical thrown into the septic tank system can kill beneficial bacteria if too much is discarded into the tank. 7. Garbage disposals, water softeners and large amounts of water can t harm the system. The truth is that the garbage disposal content increases solid waste before it can decompose. Water softeners and high volumes of water only add to the amount of waste water that needs processing. Moderation is the key here. As I read the material that I found in the library about gangs, I found out a lot about how this children s though process works. Trying to explain why children become part of a gang is something that has been a question for sometime. The reason given most often is that gangs to these children are like a family. So many of the gang members come from broken homes, or are victims of child abuse. The gang to these kids believe it or not is like a safe haven from the violence that they see at home. Also the industry can be partially blamed for the increase in children joining gangs. Not to say that just because a child likes quot;gangster quot; rap and watches violent T.V. shows and movies, that they are going to join a gang. But if you add the violence in the home, abuse, neglect and the media then you have a recipe for a child that will be more likely to join a gang. Arguments against these statements would prove futile, at a first glance, but understanding the true cost, to the environment and our safety could prove more valuable than the money earned. The beginnings of our modern day fracking process reside in a U.S. Patent No. 59,936, issued to a Col. Edward Roberts, in November of 1866, during the civil war. Robert s idea, dubbed Exploding Torpedo , involved dropping artillery rounds down a well, filling it with water, to concentrate the concussion, thereby fracturing the surrounding rock, allowing for greater access to the gas or oil below. Liquidity or the ability to generate cash from current assets to meet short term obligations as well as unforeseen responsibility is important for the subsistence of a company. A reasonable level of liquidity is essential to the survival of a company, as poor cash control is one of the main reasons for business failure. (Pyke, 2007) Through utilization of tools, such as liquidity ratios, or financial metrics, to evaluate the company s ability to meet current business obligations, should the debt needs to be settled, we are able to assess its immediate financial strength. Liquidity ratios provide creditors as well as businesses a quick analysis tool, using data, which are readily available from annual financial statements, to complete these assessments. In the next four years, by using the skills I learn at San Jose State, I plan to actively claim my education. As Adrienne Rich spoke to a college full of women, she continuously pointed out that education is not something to take for granted, and should not be looked at passively. Education is a responsibility she remarked, Responsibility to yourself means that you don t fall for shallow and easy solutions. • 26. Summary Of Succinate Dehydrogenase Activity Of Mitochondria Succinate Dehydrogenase Activity of Mitochondria Student Name: Lolwa Alfouzan SMU Id Number: A00423662 Date:16, November 2017 Lab time: 2:30 5:29 Biol2321(cell biology) Lab Section:(01) Lab (7) Full lab report INTRODUCTION: Mitochondrion produces the energy that cell needs by breaking down sugars, fatty acids and amino acids to CO2 and H2O. In this process, which is called cellular respiration, the chemical energy in sugar, fatty acid and amino acid molecules is captured as ATP. Krebs cycle is a part of the cellular respiration that consists of series of reactions. And succinate dehydrogenase is one of the enzymes that is used in this cycle. It basically catalyzes the oxidation of succinate to fumarate. In this reaction, succinate reduces a FAD molecule, which eventually donates its electrons to coenzyme Q. However, Azide prevents FADH2 from giving its electrons to coenzyme Q, rather than an artificial electron acceptor, DCIP takes the electrons. DCIP is a dark blue solution that gets lighter as it gains electrons. As DCIP gets lighter, its absorbance will decrease. So, the rate of the reaction can be relatively observed by looking at the absorbance values of DCIP since the reaction processes, DCIP gains electrons and gets lighter in color. By spectrophotometry we took the absorbance values. Spectrophotometer is used in the process, which sends beams of light to the sample and measures the intensity of the light that passes through the sample. This way we can ... • 27. The Advantages of Virtual Oscilloscopes 1.INTRODUCTION Electromagnetic oscillograph was used in early days for analyzing the signals followed by cathode ray oscilloscopes. This was done for the need of higher bandwidth. Digital storage oscilloscopes are now widely used because of their high input impedance which allows us to analyze both analog and digital signals. DSOs are equipped with A/D and D/A converters which help in storing of data in digital form and displaying it in analog form. The major drawbacks of using a DSO are its cost and size. It is difficult to move them from place to place for ease of work. It can be overcome by using a PC as an oscilloscope with software that acts as the interface. Many works including development of PC based virtual oscilloscopes using MATLAB has been done. The data acquisition device was fabricated using the analog to digital converters, control logic timing circuitries and the GUI was built using MATLAB software. Compared to traditional oscilloscopes, Virtual Oscilloscopes have a lot of advantages on the use and function. The captured waveforms can be stored as data and used for future references. The accuracy of measurement was also high along with waveform uniformity and stability. The option of multi window display mode can be used to control a large number of job sites to monitor working conditions at the same time. To reduce the cost of the system, the data acquisition was done using built in sound card of the PC in place of DAC. This work was done using LABVIEW as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. The Development Of Nature And Nurture In Language Development The basis of language development theories revolves around the idea that, either nature or nurture are more influential than the other in the development of language in children. Language development as defined by, Menyuk, is the acquisition and growth of a societies chosen method of communication, which occurs due to a culmination of cognitive growth and environmental experiences (2005). Nature, is concerned with the biological makeup of an individual that influences their ability to acquire language including, genes and brain function, alternatively, nurture is environmental factors including, culture, family, and experiences (Fellows Oakley, 2014). Nature and nurture both play vital yet highly diverse roles in the acquisition of language and its development. Analysis of the process of language acquisition will reveal that both nature and nurture are vital for successful language development of children. The process by which language is learnt or acquired differs by theory, specifically two alternate perspectives display the basis of nature and nurture. The first theory to be discussed stems off the basis of nurture, the behaviourist theory. This theory draws upon the concept of nature, suggesting behaviour is learnt through experience and reinforced by rewards (Fellows Oakley, 2014). This perspective states children learn from and imitate their surroundings and they are rewarded by responses and the success of their communication, this is an exemplar of acquisition ... He centres his discussion around the advertisement as advertising is a medium in which there is an intended message being sent to the viewer. Barthes puts forward that if an image contains signs, in advertising the signs are full , as these signs are formed with the viewer in mind so that the intended message is not missed. Barthes states that there are three messages that comprise a reading of an image: The Linguistic message The Iconic (symbolic/ connotated) message The Denotated message (comprised of the physical objects within the image) The linguistic message is that which is provided by text and, according to Barthes, is ... Barthes stresses that as technology continues to develop the diffusion of information (and notably of images), the more it provides the means of masking the constructed meaning under the appearance of the given meaning (P159 60). Connotation or the iconic message is not as easily explained as either the denotive or linguistic messages. Significantly Barthes has left the discussion of this message to the very end of his essay. The signs that constitute connotation are discontinuous. There is no definite way in which to interpret the separate, connotative message and in the composition of the three (denotative, connotative and linguistic) signs an aesthetic signified is carried. There are many different rules between pro and college level. The NBA consist of 32 professional teams, but the college level has 347 division 1 schools that develop players and make them grow into being a professional athlete. When coming out of high school, you get to choose what school you want to play for. Most athletes pick the biggest school with the biggest fan base.
