The Presidential Election Of 2016
The Presidential Election of 2016 is not until November, but both parties are beginning to narrow
their fields down and begin their preparation for an election that is expected to be highly
contested. With previous election seasons, the current primary season has already seen some
notable in fighting within the two major political parties, with potential candidates attacking each
other in an attempt to get their party nominated. What is very interesting is how fluctuating the
support for a candidate can be during the primary season. For example, Republican Donald
Trump once had a formable lead over the next contender Hillary Clinton. In the democratic field,
the top three candidates were Hillary Clinton , Bernie Sanders, and Martin O Malley. [1] From
Washington to Washington D.C the idea that Donald Trump could become president has
alternately set off fits of laughter and terror. Out of all of the republican candidates Donald Trump
is easily most polarizing. People either really love or really hate the businessman, who isn t afraid
to speak his mind.[2] Trump has no experience in politics, but does have the experience as a
businessman. Trump s stance on the issues taking place is difficult to determine, not because he
hasn t made an issue statement but because he has made to many issue statements and has, in fact,
been a member of both political parties in previous years. The establishment argument goes
something like this: first, Trump will implode, owing to some

Greek Black Figure Amphora
Greek Amphora Explanation
On December the 19th, 2013 an Ancient Greek Black Figure amphora was dug up by several
archaeologists in Greece, near the ancient city of Athens. This Ancient Greek primary source, made
from the 6th century BC, provides a vision into the everyday life of a wealthy woman in Athens.
Wealthy women in Athens had a lot of privileges in comparison to those less fortunate. Although
wealthy women in Athens had more privileges than the slaves, the lower class, and the middle
class, they were still expected to spin and weave cloth for the families clothing, and any other items
the house needed for daily running. At this time in Ancient Greece, there were no sewing machines
or spinning wheels, meaning all spinning and weaving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Black Figure style included painting black figures upon an orange background and then
incising additional details for further distinction of the characters. Flower like patterns were
used to decorate the brims of the pottery, and specific colours were painted on for particular
purpose. (White was generally used when painting female skin, black was used when painting a
male s skin, and purple and red were used for clothing and embellishments.) Pottery artists also
first begun inscribing their signatures on their own work throughout this era. These features can
all evidently be identified on the amphora as there are two wealthy women using a Greek loom
to spin and weave cloth. The designs on the amphora have been painted with relevant colours and
the appropriate use of floral patterns have been illustrated around the edges of the amphora. The
artist s signature is also evident on the base. The first signed amphora dates back to 570 BC. A
large number of other individual painters have been identified with confidence through their
signatures. (artists usually signed their name as ...... made this .) as time progressed, Black Figure
pottery became exceedingly popular all through the rest of Greece and was used by many other
Greek artists when painting Greek

Mobile Phones Research Paper
The world today is filled with all different type of smart phones and tablets. Technology is
developing fast and we don t know where this will leave web designers and developers and how
will they proceed in the future. As attached to our phones we are its hard to imagine how young
the technology of smartphones really are. In 1908 the first apparent wireless device came when
Prof. Albert Jahnke and the Oakland Transcontinental Aerial Telephone and Power Company
believed they had industrialized a wireless telephone. Sadly they were accused of fraud. Later
the charge was dropped and production of the device never proceeded. In 1918, German railroad
systems started to test their own wireless phones on their military trains. Trials began in 1924
and a year later Zugtelephonie A.G. was established to supply train telephony equipment with
the first telephone systems being accepted for use in postal and other trains by 1926. On June
17, 1946 the first truly mobile phone service appeared on June 17, 1946 under Bell Labs, which
industrialized mobile phones that endorsed users to place and receive phone calls from their
automobiles. Martin Cooper, a research executive at Motorola to Joel S Engel of Bell Labs, made
the first mobile phone calls from a handheld device on April 3, 1973. That first handheld phone,
1G (First genereation), was 10 inches long and weighed about 2.5 pounds. The prototype presented
30 minutes of talk time on a single charge and took 10 hours to recharge. The

Portrayal Of A Multicultural Mindset On A Global And Local...
Stop with the judging There are many factors that contribute to the overall lack of a multicultural
mindset on a global and local scale. A lot of people like to be separated from those who are not like
them, either in the socioeconomic spectrum, the racial spectrum, the way they live or simply the
human experience overall. Humans tend to judge those who are different than them, showing a lack
of understanding of a variety of cultureor the disparities that makes each humandifferent. A reality
that is portrayed throughout all the movies in the class. For example, in the movie First Blood,
John Rambo, the main character in the film, is often judged and mistreated by others in the movie,
simply because of his military background and the differences he has with them (Kotcheff, First
Blood). There are multiple examples of these type of behavior throughout all the movies.
Lack of understanding In the United States, being homeless is becoming a common occurrence,
even among college students. In the movie The Human Experience, the documentarians were able
to experience what is like to be homeless in New York City (Kinnane, The Human Experience).
They were able to realize how different these people truly are compared to the preconceived notion
humans have on those who are homeless. They didn t choose to be homeless, it was certain
circumstances, which are different from everyone, that resulted in them being without proper
shelter. The movie was able to demonstrate that having

Diphenyltetrazolium Bromide Lab Report
2.10. MTT Assay 3 [4,5 dimethylthiazol 2 yl]2,5 diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) is a yellow
water soluble tetrazolium salt. A mitochondrial enzyme in living cells, succinate dehydrogenase,
cleaves the tetrazolium ring, converting the MTT to an insoluble purple formazan. Therefore, the
amount of formazan produced is directly proportional to the number of viable cells. After 48 h of
incubation, 15 L of MTT (5 mg/mL) in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) was added to each well
and incubated at 37ЛљC for 4 h. The medium with MTT was then flicked off and the formed
formazan crystals were solubilized in 100 l of DMSO and then measured the absorbance at 570 nm

Armed men in unmarked combat uniforms seize Simferopol International Airport and a military

hazardous with a limited visibility of approximately thirty yards due to thick heavy snow
conditions and a thick blanket of snow on the road which made road condition hazardous. The unit

When operating an emergency vehicle, the driver must always exercise extreme caution and
due regard for others; especially when forced to operate them in less than ideal conditions such
as inclement weather. The articles author wrote the operator was driving with poor visibility due
to heavy snow conditions, a heavy blanket of snow on the roadway, and at a speed of
approximately 35 miles per hour, but still able to safely control the unit even with the hazardous
weather and road conditions. In addition, he wrote the driver was running over the rubble strips
usually found in the outside emergency lane to ensure he knew the unit s position on the
roadway and hopefully to give extra room to other travelers on the roads that morning. The article
was unclear if the red light and siren were activated during the transport at the time of the
incident. I feel the driver of the unit was exercising due regard for the safety of himself, crew
member, patient, and all others they may contact that dreadful January morning. However, I do
believe he should have activated their emergency lights and further reduced their speed to possibly
give himself and other drivers extra reaction time to avoid collisions of this type. However, I do not

Modernism vs Neo-Traditionalism Essay
Modernism vs Neo Traditionalism: A debate on the merits and failures of two major competing
paradigms in architecture and urban planning.
Beyond the term modernism underlies one of the greatest ideas in architectural development.
Modernism was meant to provide more green areas, cheaper housing and more efficient use of
space. This was to be accomplished by creating vertically dense spaces with the use of the new
inventions of the nineteenth century, such as steel, glass, electricity and elevators. By decreasing
costs of building, modernists hoped to provide cheaper housing, affordable to almost anybody. The
modernist movement was also promising to meet the growing demand for office spaces, hence the
motto ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Form follows function , said Sullivan, one of the founding fathers of modernism. As a response
to mechanization and industrialization, modernism was extremely beneficial to companies that
needed office space. To have a skyscraper built was a great investment on the company s side, not
only did it provide the necessary office space, it also allowed to lease the remaining offices to
other companies, thus making a profit. Modernism also appealed to the general population since
the rise in birth rates provided a greater demand for housing. Many argued that same modular
spaces would promote equality among its inhabitants. Modernism also promised to create more
public spaces with green areas and waterworks by the virtue of vertical density. Supposedly, there
would be more space.
Not to forget, the building and maintenance costs of a modernist building were significantly less
than that of a traditional one.
However, nor Federal Plaza, a textbook modernist landscape, nor housing projects seem to have
public spaces around them. Modernism was applied selectively, leaving out perhaps one of its most
important functions. And although Mies van der Rohe did say the less is more in terms of
ornamentation, there do not seem to be any sources that argue that modernist buildings have to be
so redundant. There s no reason that modernist architecture and can not have some

Listening is an essential part of dialogue. If properly exercise, it allows us to absorb information
within messages and exchange thoroughly processed feedback. This exchange offers an effective
communication between parties. The lack of effective listening results in miscommunication,
unessential dialogue and a waste of resources. Here we will discuss the relationship between
siblings. The siblings in this case have a long distance relationship. Sibling A is married with no

replying to statements before changing the subject (Verderber, K. S., Verderber, R. F. 2013, pg.

the emotion or perceived emotion to the speaker so that they genuinely feel that the listener is

Normative Theories Of Ethics And Its Principles
Normative theories of ethics
The area of philosophy which is concerned with systematizing, defending and recommendation the
concepts of right and wrong is briefly defined as ethics. Thus, ethics can be consider as a set of
moral rules practiced by a group of people or community. The origin of word Ethics is greece,
derived from the word ethikos , meaning habit. The theories of ethics and its principles are the
standing pillars of ethical analysis. These ethical theories are always aimed towards a common
set of goals. Such set of goals are the basic principles of ethics. In 1979, in the United States, the
Belmont Report: Ethical Principles and Guidelines for the Protection of Human Subjects of
Research was published. The basic principles according to this report are: i) Respect for Persons.
ii) Beneficence which has its two set of rules do not harm and maximize possible benefits and

Women Struggles During The 19th Century
Labarron Collins Professor Griffin ENG 251 02 25 September 2014 Women Struggles in the
19th Century Since the beginning of time women have struggled to prove themselves to society
so that people understand they are just as good as men. However, society has made a mockery
of women for years. Using women for sex appeal and for personal gains. Women were those who
stayed home cleaning, took care of the children, and prepared meals for the family. This sounds
quite familiar with today s society, but women today aren t only limited to these things. Not only
were women not allowed to work outside of home, but voting was off limits also. On June 4, 1919
the 19th amendment was passed by Congress. This honored all American women the right to vote.
This Amendment was approved on August 18th 1920. On account of women suffrage, women
should be granted equal rights politically and economically, especially after the hardship they
faced. Because of their contributions to society, women exclusively should be allowed to help the
country grow at an economical standpoint and politically while having the privilege of voting. At
the beginning of the 19th century, the rights of women were limited. She could not take custody of
her children in the event of divorce (Muntone) . This shows women had no power and men were in
complete control. For example, today women usually go through courts to fight for custody of their
children after a nasty divorce. Back in the 19th century this behavior

Logan Informative Speech
My sword clanged with my opponents. It had been ten minutes of sword practice and I could tell

Organization is key for my classroom. All table top toys are stored near tables, pillows and
stuffed animals are kept in the library area to encourage quiet time. I make sure we have plenty of
available wall space to hang up art projects, all art, posters, pictures, eat are kept at the children eye

William Blake And The Divine Image Essay
William Blake, a transitional figure in British literature, was the first romantic poet to focus on
content instead of form. Blake is one of the great mystics of the world, like Henry More and
Wordsworth; he lived in a world of glory, of spirit and of vision, which, for him, was the only real
world. His devotion to God expresses through his lyrical poetrycollection Songs of Innocence and
Songs of Experience. This collection contains 51 poems where the poems of Innocence are
counter part of the poems of Experience. The Lamb , The Divine Image and are poems from Songs
of Innocence and The Tyger, The Sick Rose and The Human Abstract are poems from Songs of
Experience. Blake s poetry can easily be interpreted by the theory of New Criticism that attempts
to treat each work as its own distinct piece, free from its environment, era, and even author.
Poetry is one of the most useful expressions of a mystic s inner experiences. By nature Blake, a
mystic is able to access a state of consciousness that is beyond the usual awareness of humanity.
This paper will give a glimpse to its readers about Blake s poetic vision on world, its connection
with God along with a clear concept that unconsciously his lyrics maintain the theory of new critics
who give more importance to close analysis of form, literary devices, and technique of a text.
Blake, English painter poet, has been the subject of many scholarly works since the end of the
Nineteenth Century. Not until the Twentieth

The Importance Of Physical Fitness
Since the whole body is used while dancing, physical fitness is a necessity in regards to proper
execution of steps, reducing the risk of injury, and increasing the longevity of a performer s
career. According to Koutedakis, physical fitness is an individual s ability to meet demands of
specific physical tasks. Aerobic strength allows dancers to work harder for longer periods of time;
an increase in stamina helps dancers get through demanding pieces and classes. ___Muscular
strength can also be applied in regards to fitness as it helps reduce injuries and focuses on exercise
specific to a certain outcome (Irvine). A common misconception is that dancers do not need
strength training because bulging muscles are contradictory to the smooth, elongated lines of the
dancer aesthetic. In actuality, there are two types of muscles that can be built: slow and fast muscle
fibers. Slow muscles are leaner and are more flexible. Fast muscles are the ones that bulge; they
are used largely in jumping, hence male dancers having large quadriceps that aide in their high
jumps. Resistance training is often used as a way to increase muscle strength without increasing
muscle mass in a drastic way. Overloading is the only way to increase muscle strength during
training; a muscle must reach its maximum capacity of contraction in order for true generation of
muscle to begin. It is also imperative that the muscles that come in pairs, an example being the
quadriceps and hamstrings of the legs, grow

The Shia s emerged as a political division over who should lead the community. They believed
that Ali, the Prophet s son in law and cousin, should be the First Caliph. The word Shia quite
literally means party of Ali. They wanted to keep the succession well in the family line, and had a
tarnished view of Abu Bakr. The believed that Ali was a part of the Ahlul Bayth people of the
family or home. The Ahlul Byath is mentioned very ambiguously in the Quran, and is unclear
wether it means family ro larger community. The Shias believe that the Ahlul Byath was of key
importance and meant small, immediate family, which is why Ali in their minds was... Show more

A sad thought because during the Prophet s entire life he promoted the idea of unity within an
umma and so soon after his death there was a great conflict regarding his succession.
2.) Jihad is the struggle and strive toward an endeavor. The greater Jihad is an internal struggle
first seen during the Meccan period (610 622) the struggle when being pressured and persecuted.
The lesser Jihad (622 632) is more physical and outward Jihad, more relating to violence. Jihad al
Nafs is the struggle with oneself, or soul. The Jihadd al Saif is the struggle of the soul. The
Khawarij s even adopted the concept of jihad as one of their pillars of Islam (Rahman 37). The
Quran describes it as a system similar to checks and balances in which one group has the
responsibility to check other groups if they violate there rights and it is their duty to bring them
back into correct order. The concept of Jihad has greatly evolved over time, with present day
scholars and apologists furiously trying to explain that the term does not mean what many think it
does. Presently it has taken a negative connotation and misconception due to the terror committed
under this word. Jihad in the Quran in ints 199 references, is most usually referring to holy war .
However it does not necessarily promote war for no reason, and killings. Jihad became a mean for
the umma to defend and expand their society in

Ralph Waldo Emerson Rhetorical Analysis Essay
The attitude of the narrator in the prose passage by Ralph Waldo Emerson towards nature is that of
pure admiration. He is very found of nature and appreciates its ethereal beauty. Emerson makes use
of the literary devices of metaphor, symbolism and personification to help readers understand this
admiration.
One example of a metaphor Emerson uses is when he states that nature never wears a mean
appearance (Emerson). This line is an oxymoron. Since nature is, in fact, violent, and ruthless.
With natural disasters that have no regard for the Earth s many inhabitants. After a storm when
everything settles there is a re birth. All of the plants and animals come back with an exuberance
to start over. This may really appeal to the audience because most have witnessed the destructive
power of nature, but have been able to come back stronger and with a new lease on life.
The sun envelops everything in a warm blanket of rays, healing everything it touches. The sun is a
powerful star and man fails to see its sheer beauty. Children see the sun for what it does to, spark
imagination and hope. The next example of Emerson s effective use of metaphor is when Emerson

significance with this line is that believing in something whatever that may be can provide someone
with something that becomes so integral to their daily routine, like that of food. Another metaphor
that Emerson uses to convey his relationship with nature, would be when he describes himself as
being a transparent eyeball; being able to see everything. There is no filter with what he is seeing.
The narrator portrays himself as a divine being that has the energy of the Earth running through his

Examples Of Anti Transcendentalism
Transcendentalism Vs. Anti Transcendentalism Transcendentalism, which emerged during the early
1800 s, was a revolutionary turn in American literature. Transcendentalism is an ideology that
highlights man s purpose and relationship with nature and the over soul, or God. Anti
Transcendentalism objects this ideology and focusses on the flaws of man and his evil effect on
society. Both Transcendentalismand Anti Transcendentalism focus on the reason for man s
existence and his impact on society. Even though Transcendentalism and Anti Transcendentalism
both focus man s association with society and core purpose of his existence, they disagree on the
details of these ideas. Transcendentalists believe that man is good and can maintain this goodness
by having a strong bond with the over soul. Transcendentalists think that society is bad and is the
reason for all of the evil in the world. In an excerpt from Ralph Waldo... Show more content on

Transcendentalists believe it is only through nature that you can achieve your highest level of peace
and deepest connection with the over soul. This is described in Ralph Waldo Emersons Self
Reliance when Emmerson says, the power which resides in [a man] is new in nature. This shows
the deep interdependence between nature and man. Transcendentalists consider the life too
precious to give up to stress. Stress can also be caused by clutter and the busy aspects of life. In
Walden , by Henry David Thoreau, Thoreau explains that he purchased a house two miles from the
village, half a mile from the nearest neighbor, and separated from the highway. (Thoreau 408) This
shows Transcendentalists fascination and respect for reclusion and peace. They do not correlate
seclusion with loneliness. Transcendentalists see seclusion as a time to self reflect and connect with

Essay about Comapring Porters 5 Forces for the Airline...
Assignment # 1
Strategic Practice Exercise: (page #81)
1. Score each competitive force in the airline industry and provide a brief rationale for your
assessment.
В·Rivalry Among Existing Firms: (High)
When one major company in an industry makes a change in costs or services that could
potentially increase their clientele, a major competitor almost always follows suit. Price matching
is a prime example of that, therefore the threat is high. West Jet is one company that offers flights
at a discount and forced Air Canada to create new banners to compete with the discounted prices.
All major companies and firms in an industry watch each other s every move very carefully, and
match any move with a countermove. During slow season in the airline ... Show more content on

Therefore, the threat of substitution is a significant factor in the airline industry. However, if a
customer has to travel very quickly or a significant distance, that person would most likely choose
the flight option instead of a cheaper alternative.
В·Bargaining Power of Buyers/Distributors: (Medium)
Bargaining power is a tricky one because it can work both ways. Buyers have a certain level of
power in any industry. A buyer may switch suppliers very easily if there are no penalties and it is
cost effective for them. If a large firm makes a large purchase of goods from another firm, it may
be mutually beneficial and if serviced well, have the potential for repeat business. However, the
buyer then has the power to use a substitute or competitor which would negatively affect the
seller. Buyers are always the more powerful of the two because some buyers have the ability to
put pressure on lower costs from suppliers, while demanding an increase of the quality of
products or services provided to them. Also, the bargaining power in industries with high fixed
costs like the airline industry can play a big factor. On the other hand, things like jet engines, tires
and other key safety devices on aircrafts can cause severe consequences if this equipment
malfunctions. For that reason, the buyer has a reduced amount of bargaining power with suppliers
in this industry. The bargaining power of buyers is both high and low, so I ranked it medium.

My Shadowing Experience
These shadowing experiences have been very insightful. Scheduling my shadowing experiences
proved to be a bit of a challenge. Within the state of Maryland, public school students in third
through eighth grade take the annual PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for
College and Careers) assessment. The PARCC Assessment consists of reading and mathematics
sections. The assessment for each grade level consists of at least 7 units. Typically one day is
designated for each unit. Thus, while planning these shadowing experiences, I ensured that I did not
visit on a testing day.
For this experience, I chose to visit an elementary school and its feeder middle school. I chose this
because students leave this elementary school with a high rate of student achievement, yet in
middle school the scores plummet. I wanted to investigate how this gap could be minimized.
Comparing philosophies, expectations and leadership styles for schools within the same community
was also a goal.
My first shadowing experience was on April 6, 2017 in a Prince Gorges County Public School
middle school facility. As I entered the building, I was greeted by a young man (a student)
holding the door for me. How polite I thought to myself. He then directed me to the office. Once in
the office, I was greeted by the secretary and asked to wait patiently because they were extremely
busy. Even though the front office was busy, everyone was welcoming, friendly yet efficient.

The knightly Wadsley family were the lords of the manor. They hunted deer on Loxley Chase,
and fletchers (arrow makers) lived on Loxley Common. Richard Grafton, printer to Edward VI
tells us Robin Hood was descended of a noble parentage, * thereby explaining his prowess with
sword and bow due to the training received by children of the nobility. Dodsworth s comment that
his mother kept him after he killed his stepfather and fled into the woods, suggests he was young
and looked after by a nanny or servants. Changing his name from Robert Dore to Robert Hood and
absconding from court would make him a fugitive and an outlaw. Later, Robin and the citizens of
York rebelled against the unpopular lord mayor in the Peasants Revolt. The mayors name was John

proving himself superior to the knightly class. The king owed his comely appearance to the
skill and craftsmanship of the guilds, one of which was Robin s guild. The patron saint of the
drapers guild was the Virgin Mary, who Robin loved and whose name was often on his lips. A
charitable organisation known as the guild of Our Lord Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary cared
for the widows and orphans of their deceased members. These people were destitute and tradition

ABSTRACT: In this paper, we are going to study about various tools and technique of image
processing which are now available for the detection or identification of the printing technology.
Now days, the identification in the printing technology and the various problem which are
associated with the document forensics have been a major challenges in the image processing
application. There are many approaches on image processing which are based on HSV, spatial
correlation, colour space, texture. There are also some method for pattern recognition like,
roughness of the text, grey level co occurrence matrix, perimeter of edge is being highlighted. In
this paper, we have focused more on one of the recent contribution which is, Gaussian Variogram
Model (GVM) for the classification of the paper.

Fruit Ph Experiment
Fruits are very delicious and healthy. In this experiment our problem is How does pH levels vary
in different fruits? The independent variable of this experiment is fruits, units: pounds/Ibs. The
dependent variable is the pH levels. The constant variable is the boiling water. The hypothesis for
this experiment is if we test the pH levels of oranges, cherries, and grapes then, the oranges would
have a higher pH because it s a very acidic fruitwhich would make it have a higher pH level. We
will use boiled water then, add the varieties of fruit we chose into the pot, then strain the mixture of
boiling water and cut up the fruit. The color would tell us the pH level of that fruit.

This is where we got our idea to experiment multiple fruits and find out which has a higher pH
level. Even though in our experiment some fruits maybe more acidic than others, that s fine
because our body needs a balance of acidic and base foods. In the Cabbage Chemistry experiment
the cabbage is the pH indicator meanwhile in our experiment the fruits are the pH indicators.
Sometimes we need to eat more acidic foods because when we play sports for example like
basketball or just running we release a lot of carbon dioxide, which is an acid that lowers the
acidity in our bodies. This can lead to our bodies being imbalanced, so this is why we would
need to eat more acidic foods therefore are bodies can be balanced again. Another similar
experiment we found was Candy pH, is like ours except they re using chocolate candies, sweet
candies, and sour candies. We re both testing the acidity but just different foods. Likewise our
procedures are similar because they put the different candies in boiling water so they can get the
color, like

The Argument Over the Decriminalization of Cannabis
The majority of Americans choose the same issues as the most threatening to the nation. Invariably
among these one will see drugs as a major concern of most Americans. There is speculation that
this is due to a perceived association between drugs and crime (Inciardi 1). A good deal of the
argument over government policy towards drugs centers on the least unhealthy and most socially
accepted of the illegal drugs, marijuana.
Marijuana, scientifically known as Tetrahydrocannabinol, belongs to its own group among other
legal and illegal drugs. It is neither a narcotic, such as heroin, nor a ... Show more content on

This act placed a minimal tax on the possession, distribution, or consumption of marijuana, which

Nearly 25% of Americans over the age of 12 admit to having smoked marijuana at least once in
their lifetime (Inciardi 167). There is a substantial portion of the American public which favors, in
some degree, the decriminalization of marijuana. There are also staunch advocates of the
prohibition of marijuana, many of them in our government. They each have effective arguments,
often disagreeing over improvable ideas.
The faction in favor of full prohibition of marijuana has a strong set of arguments. Firstly, it argues
that by causing an altered state of consciousness, cannabis is dangerous. They argue that it is
biologically and psychologically addictive and that it the frequent use of cannabis has serious
physiological repercussions. They argue that while marijuana may have marginal medicinal uses,
that there are several more effective legal drugs for the same purposes. They argue that marijuana
is a gateway drug , which leads users to harder drugs. They say that should marijuana be legalized,
its use would run rampant. Some do not believe that it contains any medicinal value whatsoever.
Those in favor of full or partial decriminalization of marijuana have diametrically opposed
arguments. They argue that

mentally? Can they? Or can t they? Women have been classified as property to fathers as well as
husbands, brothers, and uncles through history. Being property meant that what the men or man

Satire About Scrooge
Scrooge is overly grumpy and has extortionate avarice. He is a little miserly ol curmudgeon. He
hates things like happiness, kindness, and Christmas until a clique of three apparitions comes
and shows him otherwise. Scrooge was definitely not very liberal, but he is odious, and
misanthropic. Scrooge was a miserable, depressed, heavy hearted man. According to the text, no
one ever stopped Scrooge in the street to say, with a gladsome look, My dear Scrooge, how are
you? When will you come to see me? Scrooge has an unfortunate reputation of being antisocial,
depressed, negative, untrustworthy. Scrooge is extremely uncaring, and thoughtless to the poor
people, as he thinks there is a jail for poor people. In general, Scrooge is just very negative. The
triplet of ghosts comes to show Scrooge the reasons of why it is bad to be negative, antisocial, and
untrustworthy. Scrooge is a gargantuan jerk. The three ghosts give Scrooge a last chance to change
his unfortunate, bad reputation into a fortunate, positive reputation. The first of the three spirits
was the spirit of Christmaspast. The spirit of Christmas past took ol dolorous Scrooge to see his
past childhood. The text states that they passed through Scrooge s wall, and stood upon an open
country road, with fields on either end. This city had vanished in present time. Good Heaven!

Porphyria s Lover By Robert Browning
Robert Browning s dramatic monologue entitled Porphyria s Lover tells the story of a meeting
between a man and a woman that begins filled with romance, but quickly turns sinister.
Porphyria visits the speaker at his cottage late at night, to confess her love for him even though
they cannot be together. The speaker, filled with happiness in the newfound knowledge that
Porphyria worshiped him, kills her by strangling her with her own hair in order to free her from
her vainer ties and allow them to be together. He then opens her eyes, props her head on his
shoulder, and sits with her all night in an effort to preserve the moment (1278 1279). Perhaps
one of his most controversial poems, Browning s Porphyria s Lover has been analyzed in various
different ways since its publication. Some see it as the simple description of a crime committed by
a madman, and others see it as an expression of the male speaker s uncontrollable, misogyny fueled
desire to possess Porphyria as an object; others still see this poem as a statement on the
disadvantageous society where things such as social class and expectations are deciding factors in
relationships between men and women. In Projection and the Female Other: Romanticism,
Browning, and the Victorian Dramatic Monologue, U. C. Knoepflmacher sees the murder of
Porphyria, as well as many of Browning s other works, as the expression of a man s desire to
possess the Female Other, a concept that in some literary works, women are

detailed information on 2. The agency member informed me she would be referring the matter
to the CMHT to make a further assessment. Following this an Initial Strategy Meeting was
arranged under the All Wales Policy and Procedures for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults. The
meeting consisted of a multi disciplinary team who worked with 2. We were all able to assess 2 s

Jonson s Poetry Ap English Drama
Poet Ape signifies Somebody who aped artists ; at the end of the day a terrible would be artist.
Along these lines Sir Philip Sidney said in his The Defense of Poesy The cause why it is not
regarded in England is the blame of writer ape, not of artists . Jonson in his plays twice utilized
the term of performers who sought to compose verse, yet an artist primate could be anybody. So
it isn t right to expect, as some have, that the writer primate of Jonson s saying was fundamentally
a performer. He has regularly been thought to be Shake Speare. I question this since Shake Speare
did not purchase the inversion of old plays, aside from potentially to king John and Hamlet, and
did not appropriate to the degree the saying charges. Some have proposed... Show more content on

Inconspicuous, clever, and charming, these regularly appreciated verses show up at an easygoing

forcefully unique readings over late years. There is proceeding with difference among pundits
about the tone and reality of the succession, about the unique situations (scholarly, authentic, and
scholarly) inside which it might should be caught on, what s more, even about the fundamental
frameworks of the account which these apparently straightforward verses apparently unfurl. Part
of the issue in perusing the Charis sonnets lies definitely in that pressure between their account
and verse capacities: between a perspective of the lyrics as constituting, a solitary, ceaseless, and
naturally related entire the story which the writer declares in the opening sonnet and then again
ten discrete verse pieces to be freely relished and caught on. A fairly comparable pressure is to
be found inside the ten pieces on Lady Venetia Digby which make up the succession Eupheme ,

inside those bigger gatherings of ballads, the Epigrams and The Forest, in Jonson s 1616 folio. 1 In

Nation of Islam in the Light of Elijah Muhammad Essay
Nation of Islam in the Light of Elijah Muhammad
In 1961 James Baldwin met Elijah Muhammad, the leader of the Nation of Islam movement at the
time. The time Baldwin spent within the Christian Church prior to his meeting with Elijah helped
him analyze what the Nation of Islam did for people. It allowed him to notice that everyone needed
a gimmick to keep them out of the ghetto, and it does not matter what the gimmick is (Baldwin
301). Baldwin realized that the Christian Church was his gimmick, so the Nation of Islam would
never do for him what the Christian Church had already done. Plus, some of the beliefs of the
Nation of Islam were a little far fetched. The Nation of Islam did not function as a very credible
religion during its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had three main ideas he preached that helped him with sales. He wanted black separatism,
everyone to know that white men were evil (which was not hard for African Americans to
believe since the idea already lived within their minds), and to show the inadequacy of
Christianity to African Americans. By preaching these ideas, he eventually had a following of
loyal supporters of his made up religion, who of course paid money to the church. When Fard
was arrested in 1933, he admitted that his teachings were strictly a racket and he was getting all
the money out of it he could (United States 1+). What he preached aided him in his peddling. He
did not take his teachings seriously yet he met a man one day that viewed him as God incarnate.
One night Elijah Poole attended one of Fard s sermons and spoke with him afterwards. He told him
that you re God himself (Marsh 39). At the time, the movement had eight thousand followers
(Marsh 39). At this point, Fard needed to find adamant believers who would serve as ministers for
his money making organization. At this time he recruited Elijah Poole, changed Elijah s name to
Elijah Muhammad and developed him into his Chief Minister. Soon after, Fard left Detroit and
Elijah took over the movement. Elijah was born in Sandersville, Georgia, in 1897 as the seventh of
twelve children. He barely finished the third grade before he dropped out

Why Is Cursive Writing Important
The debate on cursive writing, how important is it?
Although cursive writing seems like a thing of the past, many people debate if it should stay there
or not. Writing by hand does have a lot of benifits, not many of therm do people associate writing
by hand with. Although it has been proven to be good for our minds, there is still a lot of
contreversy over the subject.
I agree with the article supporting cursive writing for the following reasons. Writing by hand,
especially in cursive, is very benificial to our memory. More people who write in cursive
remember ideas better as opposed to those who type. Hand writing verse typing allows people to
process the material given to them better. During a research study, students who took

How Did Industrialization Affect The Lives Of Industrial...
The era of 1865 to 1900 is known as the Gilded Age. The Gilded Age witnessed the industrialization
in the United States of America. The Second Industrial Revolution was also what it was known as
due to many technological advances. Industrialization substantially affected farmers and industrial
workers, along with other parts of American society. Consequently, they also responded to this
newly emerged situation.
When the first Transcontinental Railroad was built in the year 1869, all segments of society
welcomed it with enthusiasm. Farmers were very happy; they welcomed it happily and
passionately because it was in their interest. Transporting their agricultural products from one place
to another was going to be easier for them. Although some farmers were fruitful such as bonanza
farms, many farmers were struggling (Tindall, 621). They resented high railroad tariffs that were
often considered remarkably high which made it complicated for them because they had to sell
their cotton on markets while manufactured goods made in the United States had tariffs. Most
farmers were stuck in a cycle of debt and poverty.

They opposed increasing use of machines because it affected their job opportunities in adverse
ways. Industrial workers usually worked a twelve hour day and were paid very little. Also,
factories preserved poor health and safety conditions (Tindall, 644). Industry owners started firing
workers when the use of machines in industries started increasing. Interests of industrial workers
were severely and adversely affected which made them angry and dissatisfied. They found that
industrialization was against their interests, and they decided to oppose it in every possible

Being A Computer Software Engineer Is Best Suitable For Me...
Introduction I have always been in love with technology and it s concepts. Over the years, I have
watched computer videos, phone reviews, etc, and I can get lost on Youtube doing that for hours.
Just recently I built myself a new computer from scratch, by ordering all the parts separately, then
one day, I put it all together. Ever since that day, I feel so accomplished that I was able to do
something like that, and I get compliments from many people all the time. That led to me looking
into my future career, and I found being a ComputerSoftware Engineer is best suitable for me and
my lifestyle. It will allow me to do what I love everyday, and make a comfortable living doing so.
Upon looking into colleges, I chose Ball State as they have been emailing me for awhile now, and
doing my research, I found that Ball State offers a major in Computer Science, which has all the
necessary skills to be successful in my career of choice. I believe that by taking Computer Science
at Ball State will prepare me for the future workforce, and live a comfortable life doing it.
Education Requirements It is expected that most software developers have a bachelor s degree in
computer science ( Education ) of some kind, because it covers a wide variety of topics.
Sometimes employers accept a degree in mathematics ( Education ) if you have one already.
Employers look for people that have a strong set of skills in computer programing ( Education ). At

Everyday Use by Alice Walker an Analysis

September 30, 2011
Everyday Use Analysis
Everyday Use is a compelling story of a mother s conflicting relationships with her two
daughters. Maggie, which the mother feels contains more practical and traditional ways of living
life and then Dee her oldest and most promising daughter, who she feels has broken away from
tradition and has lost a lot of their heritage. At first glance you would see this as the normal
mother daughter spat of maybe the wild child versus the little miss do right. This story holds a
much deeper and important meaning. Everyday use tells the struggle to keep hold of African
American culture in the late 1960 s early 1970 s, when most African Americans were searching for
their roots. Many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dee even had to ask Didn t Uncle Buddy whittle it out of a tree you all used to have ? She did not
know herself, and when her boyfriend (or husband) asked who also made the dasher. She couldn t
reply, instead Maggie did stating Aunt Dee s first husband whittled the dash , and that His name
was Henry, but they called him Stash. This is an inherent meaning that with the transformation to
the Black Panther movement our heritage was being forgotten.
The quilts in this story represent African American heritage, they symbolize the pain, tears and
struggle African Americans had to go through in the United States. The sister s conflict over who
should have the quilts shows the struggle between the Black Power movement and the African
American, and who should define its heritage. Dee when asked what she would do with the quilts,
she stated Hang them . Dee also vagrantly argued that her sister Maggie would use put the quilts to
everyday use . See Dee s argument represents the Black Power movement by using the quilts to
hang as a status symbol, to remind her of the social and economic status she has currently obtained.
Maggie s use symbolizes the African American culture to purely remember the heritage not to rank
with statuses or to compare. Alice Walkerdistinctively allows us to know which argument she feels

The Advent of Imperialism Essay
The Advent of Imperialism
We live in a world today in which the consequences of nineteenth century Western imperialism are
still being felt. By about 1914 Western civilization reached the high point of its long standing
global expansion. This expansion in this period took many forms. There was, first of all,
economic expansion. Europeans invested large sums of money abroad, building railroads and
ports, mines and plantations, factories and public utilities. Trade between nations grew greatly and
a world economy developed. Between 1750 and 1900 the gap in income disparities between
industrialized Europe and America and the rest of the world grew at an astounding rate. Part of this
was due, first, to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Competition for trade, superior military force, European power politics, and a racist belief in
European superiority were among the most important. Some Europeans bitterly criticized
imperialism as a betrayal of Western ideals of freedom and equality.
Western imperialism produced various reactions in Africa and Asia. The first response was simply
to try to drive the foreigners away. The general failure of this traditionalist response then led large
masses to accept European rule, which did bring some improvements. A third response was the
modernist response of Western educated natives, who were repelled by Western racism and
attracted by Western ideals of national independence and economic progress. Thus, imperialism and
reactions to it spread Western civilization to non Western lands.
The great test of Western Imperialism is Asia, where vast peoples live, the inheritors of
civilisations as complex as our own, more ancient and more firmly rooted by enduring custom in
the general life. The races of Africa it has been possible to regard as savages or children,
backward in their progress along the same general road of civilisation in which Anglo Saxondom
represents the vanguard, and requiring the help of more forward races. It is not so easy to make a
specious case for Western control over India, China, and other Asiatic peoples upon the same
ground. Save in the more recent

It is the obstacle that is the way. It is that which is in sight, that which captures our psyche, that
which holds us hostage physically and mentally, that we must overcome.

To move above the self, to grant your life, not for a cause or individual, or collective. Not to grant

The greatest sacrifice belongs to the housewife who attempts suicide and survives and raises her

The girl who stares into the abyss, sees it staring back into her, and returns scathed but intact. The

It is true self sacrifice, to sacrifice not your physical being, but to fight against the mental levers, the
physiological pulleys that control you.

robots to make everyday tasks easier, to do a better job, or to do something that humans could

Rodney Castleden s The Stonehenge
Stonehenge is one of the most famous sites in the world from the Neolithic period. It began as
early as 3000 BC, and went under different stages of arrangement. Known for its circle of giant
stones standing in Salisbury Plain, this monument has baffled archeologists for centuries.
Stonehenge, which derives from the Saxon term for hanging stones, has been examined several
times over the centuries, but the primary reason for its creation remains unknown. The only
information we do know is that it was a religious site, and that worship here involved the cycles of
the sun; the alignment of the stones on the axis of the mid summer sunrise makes this clear. The
books I choose to review this topic each approach the ideology behind this monument; each in a
different way. In the first half of The StonehengePeople, Rodney Castleden investigates, in detail,
many of the popular sites that could contribute to figuring out the reconstruction of Neolithic
society. Moreover, he begins with the impact man had on the land, from the development of trade
routes to the beginning of settlements and agriculture. In the second half of the book, he attempts

Dangers Of George Washington s Farewell Address
Washington s Farewell Adress After his presidency, George Washington has explains many
possible dangers and concerns he has for the for the up and coming nation that he spent 8 years so
heavily devoted toward. There were many issues during Washington s presidency so he writes a
farewell address discussing the issues and giving Americans some wise words of advice. Some of
the issues that Washingtonbrings up include staying out of other nation s issues and worry about
ourselves, to not divide our nation by forming different political parties with different ideas, and
pay off the newly acquired national debt. He explains all of these issues and more in his farewell
address. He also says that if the constitution needs to be changed it should be done so legally and
not by rebellion which Americans tend to do. One of the main dangers that President Washington
sees are the political parties that are, at this point, just starting to be formed by people like
Hamilton and Jefferson. Washington doesn t like the idea of a divided government because he
believes it is not in the best interest of the people and nation. He clarifies this when he writes, The

  • 4. The Presidential Election Of 2016 The Presidential Election of 2016 is not until November, but both parties are beginning to narrow their fields down and begin their preparation for an election that is expected to be highly contested. With previous election seasons, the current primary season has already seen some notable in fighting within the two major political parties, with potential candidates attacking each other in an attempt to get their party nominated. What is very interesting is how fluctuating the support for a candidate can be during the primary season. For example, Republican Donald Trump once had a formable lead over the next contender Hillary Clinton. In the democratic field, the top three candidates were Hillary Clinton , Bernie Sanders, and Martin O Malley. [1] From Washington to Washington D.C the idea that Donald Trump could become president has alternately set off fits of laughter and terror. Out of all of the republican candidates Donald Trump is easily most polarizing. People either really love or really hate the businessman, who isn t afraid to speak his mind.[2] Trump has no experience in politics, but does have the experience as a businessman. Trump s stance on the issues taking place is difficult to determine, not because he hasn t made an issue statement but because he has made to many issue statements and has, in fact, been a member of both political parties in previous years. The establishment argument goes something like this: first, Trump will implode, owing to some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Greek Black Figure Amphora Greek Amphora Explanation On December the 19th, 2013 an Ancient Greek Black Figure amphora was dug up by several archaeologists in Greece, near the ancient city of Athens. This Ancient Greek primary source, made from the 6th century BC, provides a vision into the everyday life of a wealthy woman in Athens. Wealthy women in Athens had a lot of privileges in comparison to those less fortunate. Although wealthy women in Athens had more privileges than the slaves, the lower class, and the middle class, they were still expected to spin and weave cloth for the families clothing, and any other items the house needed for daily running. At this time in Ancient Greece, there were no sewing machines or spinning wheels, meaning all spinning and weaving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Black Figure style included painting black figures upon an orange background and then incising additional details for further distinction of the characters. Flower like patterns were used to decorate the brims of the pottery, and specific colours were painted on for particular purpose. (White was generally used when painting female skin, black was used when painting a male s skin, and purple and red were used for clothing and embellishments.) Pottery artists also first begun inscribing their signatures on their own work throughout this era. These features can all evidently be identified on the amphora as there are two wealthy women using a Greek loom to spin and weave cloth. The designs on the amphora have been painted with relevant colours and the appropriate use of floral patterns have been illustrated around the edges of the amphora. The artist s signature is also evident on the base. The first signed amphora dates back to 570 BC. A large number of other individual painters have been identified with confidence through their signatures. (artists usually signed their name as ...... made this .) as time progressed, Black Figure pottery became exceedingly popular all through the rest of Greece and was used by many other Greek artists when painting Greek ... • 6. Mobile Phones Research Paper The world today is filled with all different type of smart phones and tablets. Technology is developing fast and we don t know where this will leave web designers and developers and how will they proceed in the future. As attached to our phones we are its hard to imagine how young the technology of smartphones really are. In 1908 the first apparent wireless device came when Prof. Albert Jahnke and the Oakland Transcontinental Aerial Telephone and Power Company believed they had industrialized a wireless telephone. Sadly they were accused of fraud. Later the charge was dropped and production of the device never proceeded. In 1918, German railroad systems started to test their own wireless phones on their military trains. Trials began in 1924 and a year later Zugtelephonie A.G. was established to supply train telephony equipment with the first telephone systems being accepted for use in postal and other trains by 1926. On June 17, 1946 the first truly mobile phone service appeared on June 17, 1946 under Bell Labs, which industrialized mobile phones that endorsed users to place and receive phone calls from their automobiles. Martin Cooper, a research executive at Motorola to Joel S Engel of Bell Labs, made the first mobile phone calls from a handheld device on April 3, 1973. That first handheld phone, 1G (First genereation), was 10 inches long and weighed about 2.5 pounds. The prototype presented 30 minutes of talk time on a single charge and took 10 hours to recharge. • 7. Portrayal Of A Multicultural Mindset On A Global And Local... Stop with the judging There are many factors that contribute to the overall lack of a multicultural mindset on a global and local scale. A lot of people like to be separated from those who are not like them, either in the socioeconomic spectrum, the racial spectrum, the way they live or simply the human experience overall. Humans tend to judge those who are different than them, showing a lack of understanding of a variety of cultureor the disparities that makes each humandifferent. A reality that is portrayed throughout all the movies in the class. For example, in the movie First Blood, John Rambo, the main character in the film, is often judged and mistreated by others in the movie, simply because of his military background and the differences he has with them (Kotcheff, First Blood). There are multiple examples of these type of behavior throughout all the movies. Lack of understanding In the United States, being homeless is becoming a common occurrence, even among college students. In the movie The Human Experience, the documentarians were able to experience what is like to be homeless in New York City (Kinnane, The Human Experience). They were able to realize how different these people truly are compared to the preconceived notion humans have on those who are homeless. They didn t choose to be homeless, it was certain circumstances, which are different from everyone, that resulted in them being without proper shelter. The movie was able to demonstrate that having ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the years passed, these countries are now finding themselves pulled between their historical Russian ties and European opportunities. The weather conditions at the time of the incident were described as hazardous with a limited visibility of approximately thirty yards due to thick heavy snow conditions and a thick blanket of snow on the road which made road condition hazardous. When operating an emergency vehicle, the driver must always exercise extreme caution and due regard for others; especially when forced to operate them in less than ideal conditions such as inclement weather. The articles author wrote the operator was driving with poor visibility due to heavy snow conditions, a heavy blanket of snow on the roadway, and at a speed of approximately 35 miles per hour, but still able to safely control the unit even with the hazardous weather and road conditions. In addition, he wrote the driver was running over the rubble strips usually found in the outside emergency lane to ensure he knew the unit s position on the roadway and hopefully to give extra room to other travelers on the roads that morning. The article was unclear if the red light and siren were activated during the transport at the time of the incident. I feel the driver of the unit was exercising due regard for the safety of himself, crew member, patient, and all others they may contact that dreadful January morning. However, I do believe he should have activated their emergency lights and further reduced their speed to possibly give himself and other drivers extra reaction time to avoid collisions of this type. However, I do not believe the recommendations above would have significantly changed the outcome of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Modernism vs Neo-Traditionalism Essay Modernism vs Neo Traditionalism: A debate on the merits and failures of two major competing paradigms in architecture and urban planning. Beyond the term modernism underlies one of the greatest ideas in architectural development. Modernism was meant to provide more green areas, cheaper housing and more efficient use of space. This was to be accomplished by creating vertically dense spaces with the use of the new inventions of the nineteenth century, such as steel, glass, electricity and elevators. By decreasing costs of building, modernists hoped to provide cheaper housing, affordable to almost anybody. The modernist movement was also promising to meet the growing demand for office spaces, hence the motto ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Form follows function , said Sullivan, one of the founding fathers of modernism. As a response to mechanization and industrialization, modernism was extremely beneficial to companies that needed office space. To have a skyscraper built was a great investment on the company s side, not only did it provide the necessary office space, it also allowed to lease the remaining offices to other companies, thus making a profit. Modernism also appealed to the general population since the rise in birth rates provided a greater demand for housing. Many argued that same modular spaces would promote equality among its inhabitants. Modernism also promised to create more public spaces with green areas and waterworks by the virtue of vertical density. Supposedly, there would be more space. Not to forget, the building and maintenance costs of a modernist building were significantly less than that of a traditional one. However, nor Federal Plaza, a textbook modernist landscape, nor housing projects seem to have public spaces around them. Modernism was applied selectively, leaving out perhaps one of its most important functions. And although Mies van der Rohe did say the less is more in terms of ornamentation, there do not seem to be any sources that argue that modernist buildings have to be so redundant. Women Struggles During The 19th Century Labarron Collins Professor Griffin ENG 251 02 25 September 2014 Women Struggles in the 19th Century Since the beginning of time women have struggled to prove themselves to society so that people understand they are just as good as men. However, society has made a mockery of women for years. Using women for sex appeal and for personal gains. Women were those who stayed home cleaning, took care of the children, and prepared meals for the family. This sounds quite familiar with today s society, but women today aren t only limited to these things. Not only were women not allowed to work outside of home, but voting was off limits also. On June 4, 1919 the 19th amendment was passed by Congress. This honored all American women the right to vote. This Amendment was approved on August 18th 1920. On account of women suffrage, women should be granted equal rights politically and economically, especially after the hardship they faced. Because of their contributions to society, women exclusively should be allowed to help the country grow at an economical standpoint and politically while having the privilege of voting. At the beginning of the 19th century, the rights of women were limited. She could not take custody of her children in the event of divorce (Muntone) . • 21. William Blake And The Divine Image Essay William Blake, a transitional figure in British literature, was the first romantic poet to focus on content instead of form. Blake is one of the great mystics of the world, like Henry More and Wordsworth; he lived in a world of glory, of spirit and of vision, which, for him, was the only real world. His devotion to God expresses through his lyrical poetrycollection Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. This collection contains 51 poems where the poems of Innocence are counter part of the poems of Experience. The Lamb , The Divine Image and are poems from Songs of Innocence and The Tyger, The Sick Rose and The Human Abstract are poems from Songs of Experience. Blake s poetry can easily be interpreted by the theory of New Criticism that attempts to treat each work as its own distinct piece, free from its environment, era, and even author. Poetry is one of the most useful expressions of a mystic s inner experiences. By nature Blake, a mystic is able to access a state of consciousness that is beyond the usual awareness of humanity. The Importance Of Physical Fitness Since the whole body is used while dancing, physical fitness is a necessity in regards to proper execution of steps, reducing the risk of injury, and increasing the longevity of a performer s career. According to Koutedakis, physical fitness is an individual s ability to meet demands of specific physical tasks. Aerobic strength allows dancers to work harder for longer periods of time; an increase in stamina helps dancers get through demanding pieces and classes. ___Muscular strength can also be applied in regards to fitness as it helps reduce injuries and focuses on exercise specific to a certain outcome (Irvine). A common misconception is that dancers do not need strength training because bulging muscles are contradictory to the smooth, elongated lines of the dancer aesthetic. In actuality, there are two types of muscles that can be built: slow and fast muscle fibers. Slow muscles are leaner and are more flexible. Fast muscles are the ones that bulge; they are used largely in jumping, hence male dancers having large quadriceps that aide in their high jumps. Resistance training is often used as a way to increase muscle strength without increasing muscle mass in a drastic way. Overloading is the only way to increase muscle strength during training; a muscle must reach its maximum capacity of contraction in order for true generation of muscle to begin. It is also imperative that the muscles that come in pairs, an example being the quadriceps and hamstrings of the legs, grow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is very found of nature and appreciates its ethereal beauty. Emerson makes use of the literary devices of metaphor, symbolism and personification to help readers understand this admiration. One example of a metaphor Emerson uses is when he states that nature never wears a mean appearance (Emerson). This line is an oxymoron. Since nature is, in fact, violent, and ruthless. With natural disasters that have no regard for the Earth s many inhabitants. After a storm when everything settles there is a re birth. All of the plants and animals come back with an exuberance to start over. Price matching is a prime example of that, therefore the threat is high. However, if a customer has to travel very quickly or a significant distance, that person would most likely choose the flight option instead of a cheaper alternative. В·Bargaining Power of Buyers/Distributors: (Medium) Bargaining power is a tricky one because it can work both ways. Buyers have a certain level of power in any industry. A buyer may switch suppliers very easily if there are no penalties and it is cost effective for them. If a large firm makes a large purchase of goods from another firm, it may be mutually beneficial and if serviced well, have the potential for repeat business. However, the buyer then has the power to use a substitute or competitor which would negatively affect the seller. Buyers are always the more powerful of the two because some buyers have the ability to put pressure on lower costs from suppliers, while demanding an increase of the quality of products or services provided to them. Also, the bargaining power in industries with high fixed costs like the airline industry can play a big factor. On the other hand, things like jet engines, tires and other key safety devices on aircrafts can cause severe consequences if this equipment malfunctions. For that reason, the buyer has a reduced amount of bargaining power with suppliers in this industry. The bargaining power of buyers is both high and low, so I ranked it medium. В·Bargaining ... • 34. Satire About Scrooge Scrooge is overly grumpy and has extortionate avarice. He is a little miserly ol curmudgeon. He hates things like happiness, kindness, and Christmas until a clique of three apparitions comes and shows him otherwise. Scrooge was definitely not very liberal, but he is odious, and misanthropic. Scrooge was a miserable, depressed, heavy hearted man. According to the text, no one ever stopped Scrooge in the street to say, with a gladsome look, My dear Scrooge, how are you? When will you come to see me? Scrooge has an unfortunate reputation of being antisocial, depressed, negative, untrustworthy. Scrooge is extremely uncaring, and thoughtless to the poor people, as he thinks there is a jail for poor people. In general, Scrooge is just very negative. The triplet of ghosts comes to show Scrooge the reasons of why it is bad to be negative, antisocial, and untrustworthy. Scrooge is a gargantuan jerk. The three ghosts give Scrooge a last chance to change his unfortunate, bad reputation into a fortunate, positive reputation. The first of the three spirits was the spirit of Christmaspast. The spirit of Christmas past took ol dolorous Scrooge to see his past childhood. The text states that they passed through Scrooge s wall, and stood upon an open country road, with fields on either end. This city had vanished in present time. Good Heaven! Said Scrooge, clasping his hands together, as he looked about him. I was bred in this place, I was a boy here. The significance is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Porphyria s Lover By Robert Browning Robert Browning s dramatic monologue entitled Porphyria s Lover tells the story of a meeting between a man and a woman that begins filled with romance, but quickly turns sinister. Porphyria visits the speaker at his cottage late at night, to confess her love for him even though they cannot be together. The speaker, filled with happiness in the newfound knowledge that Porphyria worshiped him, kills her by strangling her with her own hair in order to free her from her vainer ties and allow them to be together. He then opens her eyes, props her head on his shoulder, and sits with her all night in an effort to preserve the moment (1278 1279). Perhaps one of his most controversial poems, Browning s Porphyria s Lover has been analyzed in various different ways since its publication. Some see it as the simple description of a crime committed by a madman, and others see it as an expression of the male speaker s uncontrollable, misogyny fueled desire to possess Porphyria as an object; others still see this poem as a statement on the disadvantageous society where things such as social class and expectations are deciding factors in relationships between men and women. In Projection and the Female Other: Romanticism, Browning, and the Victorian Dramatic Monologue, U. C. Knoepflmacher sees the murder of Porphyria, as well as many of Browning s other works, as the expression of a man s desire to possess the Female Other, a concept that in some literary works, women are ... By about 1914 Western civilization reached the high point of its long standing global expansion. This expansion in this period took many forms. There was, first of all, economic expansion. Europeans invested large sums of money abroad, building railroads and ports, mines and plantations, factories and public utilities. Trade between nations grew greatly and a world economy developed. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Competition for trade, superior military force, European power politics, and a racist belief in European superiority were among the most important. Some Europeans bitterly criticized imperialism as a betrayal of Western ideals of freedom and equality. Western imperialism produced various reactions in Africa and Asia. The first response was simply to try to drive the foreigners away. The general failure of this traditionalist response then led large masses to accept European rule, which did bring some improvements. A third response was the modernist response of Western educated natives, who were repelled by Western racism and attracted by Western ideals of national independence and economic progress. Thus, imperialism and reactions to it spread Western civilization to non Western lands. It began as early as 3000 BC, and went under different stages of arrangement. Known for its circle of giant stones standing in Salisbury Plain, this monument has baffled archeologists for centuries. Stonehenge, which derives from the Saxon term for hanging stones, has been examined several times over the centuries, but the primary reason for its creation remains unknown.
