My Baseball Glove
My culture is like a box of chocolates, surprising and sometimes unsatisfying. You take a bite hoping
for caramel, but instead you get mint chocolate. We all have a culture, but some of us embrace it more
than others. I have a culture. It is made up of many, many elements. My culture is unique and personal
to me because it ultimately makes up who I am as a person. I will be discussing my baseball glove,
baseball as a whole, and even my music interests and how my culture differs from my family s. My
baseball glove connects me to my culture. My glove is black and tan. The model is a Mizuno. It is
12.5 inches long, plus it is great for playing in the outfield. When I went to Dick s Sporting Goods to

My family and I have always loved baseball, whether it s watching the Chicago Cubs or practicing it
ourselves. It is a goal of ours to visit every Major League stadium. So far, we have visited Wrigley
Field, Miller Park, and Busch Stadium. In April, we are going to Colorado to watch the Rockies play
the Cubs at Coors Field. We always have a blast during baseball season. We all consider it normal to
shout at the TV like maniacs if the Cubs begin to struggle. At the dinner table, my dad and I love to
talk about analytics and statistics. We even talk about future moves for teams to help them improve.
We consider trades and transactions that make sense for both sides. I go as far as going on MLB 17
The Show and completely rebuilding MLB rosters, it s sorta nerdy thing in all honesty. My dad and I
even build one day fantasy teams on Fanduel, an app that allows us to make teams with a specific
budget and even make real money. Though it is seen as a gamble by my mother, we just enjoy doing
it, although we don t win very often. One time though, I made a team that won us four hundred dollars
and we were psyched. I feel like baseball actually helps me bond and connect with my family,
especially my parents. They become enthusiastic watching me play. My mom is always nervous
though. Everytime she watches she play, she s always real jittery. This is why baseball is such a huge

The Effects Of Drought And Its Effects On The Environment
Since we moved into the 21st century, the condition of global environment is one of the most popular
topics, and it created many controversies. Those topics are wide ranged, from the natural disasters like
earthquake, tornado or volcano eruption; to the man made disasters like nuclear war or air / water /
sound pollutions. As a student, I too am interested and have some concerns for the planet that we are
living in. Among the disasters, drought is the one that I want to learn more about it. So what is
drought? Drought is described as a period of time when the water supply is decreasing, and the length
of the drought might occur in months or even years (basicplant). It occurs in virtually all climatic
zones and its characteristics may be different in certain regions. According to The Ojos Negros
Research Group, the characteristics of the drought are scarcity of water, low precipitation, and mostly
occurred in dry season . Other climatic factors like high wind/temperature and low relative humidity
(The Ojos Negros Research Group) are usually related with the drought. Drought can be put into four
categories based on the regions, needs, and disciplinary approaches. The first type of drought is called
Meteorological drought; it is defined on the basis degree of dryness [compare to a normal/average
amount], and the duration of the dry period (National Drought Mitigation Center). Agricultural
drought is the second type and it is similar to the Meteorological drought, but

slavery influence life for the African American today. Is there a single person, place, thing or event
that has connected past slavery to the now and free present? One could mention the Willie Lynch

speech on how to make a slave, while addressing other slave masters. In the letter, the making of a

The current economic situation is terrible. In 2011, blacks made 66 cents for every dollar earned by
whites, compared to 55 cents for every dollar earned by whites in 1963. How do Black Americans
break the poverty cycle? What caused this? One suggestion says that under resourced schools and
mass incarceration drives this cycle. Both must be eradicated, neither is adequate in itself. Schools in
poor neighborhoods most of the time are inadequate to handle the mission of educating the youth. On
the other hand, a black student in a suburban school is six times more likely to graduate on time and
be college ready than a black student in a segregated urban school. Five times as many Whites are
using drugs as African Americans, yet African Americans are sent to prison for drug offenses at 10
times the rate of Whites. This is due to unfair drug laws, over policing and prosecutions in black
neighborhoods and overenthusiastic district attorneys. If America can find a way to improve
educational attainment for black males and eliminate disparate rates of incarceration for drug offences
would begin to break the poverty cycle. The main characteristic of Latinos is, get in where you fit in ,

Was Thomas Paine Made No Secret For His Hatred Of The...
Kristen Thompson
Common Sense
M/W 2 3:15 Thomas Paine made no secret for his hatred of the British monarchy. This was partially
due to their absolutism beliefs, the oppression of his countrymen, and the system of government where
the rich got richer and the poor get poorer. He believed that Britain would never have a balanced
government so long as monarchy and hereditary succession stayed in place. When Thomas Paine
immigrated to Philadelphia, several things had strong influences on his writing of Common Sense.
The Intolerable acts as well as the Enlightenment Challenge influenced his writing concerning the
view of parliament and British monarchy (maybe switch this sentence for the next one). After
Parliament had passed The Intolerable Acts, Paine watched the continuation and control the British
Monarchy and Parliament had in America, along with their unnatural behaviors and influence over
government issues, the ideological changes that came from The Enlightenment Challenge . Paine
believed change could and should happen; that America could find economic independence and not
carry any burden of debt if they separated from Britain since their debt was actually Britain s in the
first place. Paine said that there could be no reconciliation; he understood that to become free and
have liberties with an independent government there was no going back, only forward. Paine had a
strong desire to see religious freedom become possible, and for people to have the right to choose and

It was Danielle Madero s senior year of high school, when her mother noticed something had changed.
Danielle had become a soldier. Emotions were high as Danielle explained that a month ago she walked
into a recruitment office with a friend, and walked out a member of the United States Air Force. For
the next fourteen years she served as a radio operator. During this time she conducted numerous
operations, but one stands out in particular. A devastating F 22 crash just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska.
Danielle and the other soldiers in the rescue mission received a call at four am briefing them on the
situation. Moments later two helicopters and a C 130 were in the air. It [the crash site] essentially

Descriptive Essay About State Park
Brook! You will never guess what I saw at the state park in Arkansas with my family. I want to hear all
about it, walk me through it step by step and don t leave any detail out.
OK, I will start with the drive to the park.
The road is secluded, trees encompass you as you drive. The GPS directs that it is only a few more
miles, but in your mind, you know you need to turn around. Then the trees open up to a little wooden
cabin just off the road. After 6 hours in the vehicle, you bust open the door, and as your legs swing out
the door, you can feel a stretch throughout your entire body. Your body was stiff but now is
surrounded by the fresh air. The little cabin is actually a camp store, and in it you find the assistance
and the map needed to tackle the upcoming adventure. The road winds a few more miles till you near
the lodge. Buckled down with water, a camera, and wearing the proper shoes you walk toward the
trail. Something catches your eye, and with a turn of your head, there it is. The lodge overlooks the
most incredible view, one that could only have been created by God. The lookout reveals mountains of
trees with an unforeseeable future. After admiring the beauty, the trail calls your name. It starts out
wide and covered with gravel, without a moment to think the terrain changes. You start to walk down
the mountain, the gravel turned to dirt and with the help from the dew and rain it was mud, and the
mountain grew a little steeper with every breath. Later, you

The Invention Of The Automobile Industry
The automobile industry is said to have its beginnings dating to the 19th century. Gottieb Daimler and
Wilhelm Maybach, of Germany, fitted their engine into a stagecoach in 1886 (Kindersley, 2011, 10).
They were both successful at creating the first four wheeled, gas engine vehicle. It reached a top speed
of ten miles per hour. Each engine was still being fitted into stagecoaches (Kindersley, 2011, 10). The
industrial revolution introduced a wide array of new ideas for the automobile. The ideas ranged from
air cooled engines, single cylinder engines, steam powered engines, electric cars, to a vehicle with a
sliding gear transmission (Kindersley, 11, 2011). Other ideas included overhead cam engines, and the
introduction of the gearbox.

For the industry this became only the beginning. Many other innovative designs to the engine that
were introduced during this time are still in use today. In 1926, both Daimler Mercedes merged to
become Daimler Benz AG. This was as a result of the recession during that time which forced many
companies into joint ventures. Their cars were marketed under the name of Mercedes Benz.
During the 1930 s, the world was gripped by the second World War which saw the industry, especially
in Germany, being used to support ongoing war efforts again. The cars of Mercedes were adored by
the Third Reich and the cars were being used by motor racing as well (Kindersley,15, 2011). This
enabled the company more exposure later on. The 1930 s were hailed as a time of great challenge
especially with the onslaught of The Great Depression.
The world was met by the introduction of the station wagon and pick up truck in the 1940 s. The
station wagon was a reintroduced Land Rover, . . . the Land Rover s wider appeal led to demand for a
more civilized vehicle the 7 seater Station Wagon fulfilled that brief, (Kindersley,113, 2011). The
station wagon was designed as a working vehicle and that could carry a lot of people. The pick up
truck was unveiled by The Ford Motor Company and named The F Series. This became most
successful vehicles

In both cases, bigger is better. The larger the operating margin and the greater the velocity, the greater
the return on invested capital. Traditionally, most companies focus on the operating margin, often
concluding they have little capability to alter their basic velocity value. Velocity itself will change only
with changes in corporate strategy including licensing and out sourcing at Porsche, or the growing
influence of in sourcing in other industries.

Porsche s problem in recent years is that it has accumulated a very large cash balance. Cash is not free;
it must be funded on the righthand side of the balance sheet. If Porsche had dispensed the excess cash
rather than retaining it, its invested capital base would not have grown, undermining its ROIC.
Porsche has one other complicating factor: it possesses a large amount of non interest bearing long
term liabilities, a feature of traditional German business practices.

Analysis Of Functions Of Effective Management Essay
Introduction
Normally, management is generally known as that social process which entails the fulfillment of the
given set objectives of a particular organization through effective and economical regulation and
operation of the organization. The system is a dynamic process since it consists of handling of
different activities and elements each time. However, these elements and activities are not like the
operative functions which merely involve finance, purchasing, marketing and many more of similar
type. Moreover, the activities are commonly practiced by every manger regardless of the status or the
level within the chain of command. Besides, effective management always goes in hand with
leadership and includes employees motivation, creatively solving of problems and ensuring timely
completion of the organization s goals and objectives. Therefore, this paper has critically focused on
how the five management practices such as planning, leading, organizing, staffing, and controlling are
implemented in my current workplace.
Analysis of the functions of effective management
Planning, leading, organizing, staffing, and controlling are indeed management concepts and they
equally require detailed implementation analysis for each and every organization or any other
enterprise aimed at achieving certain set goals and objectives. In this paper, the application of each of
these aspects is discussed in details with relevant examples from my own organization as a case study

My Writing Experience In Speech To Roseanne
Throughout my writing experience there have been many papers that I enjoyed writing and many that
I did not. The writing experience that is the most memorable to me is in my freshman year of high
school at University High School in Orange City, Florida. I wrote a short story called Speech to
Roseanne . This story was about a young southern female teenager who was just starting high school.
During the previous summer time she had a major dispute that happened between herself and best
friend, Roseanne. This dispute carried over to the start of their freshmen year in high school. In the
end, despite the fact that Roseanne tried to apologize for the comments she made about Mel Bell s
family, Mel Bell could not get passed what her formal best friend had said. ... Show more content on

forgiving Roseanne for the mistake that she had made and encouraged people to let bygones be

write a short story and any topic that we wanted. We were given about a month to brainstorm, write a
rough draft, have peer reviews, and write our final essays for our final in that class. She wanted us to
practice our supporting details in this short story. The person that heavily helped me with this essay
was my teacher Ms. Drysdale she showed me how to use more supporting details and also use similes,

Mccloskey Argumentative Analysis
McCloskey states in his article On being an Atheist that he finds much more comfort in being an
atheist than believing in an all powerful and all knowing God because of the presence of evil in the
world. He goes on to use this evil in the world as his proof that there is no God that exists. He then
uses arguments such as the cosmological argument, and the teleological argument to go further into
his reasoning. He states that these classical arguments cannot prove that God exists. He argues that if
there were an all powerful being in the world then would he not rid the world of evil? This is why he
believes there to be more comfort in atheism. Yes there is evil in our world unfortunately so how
should a theist, A Christian, respond to McCloskey and his arguments?
Lets first look at his wording of proofs . Foreman spoke in his video that we should stray away from
the word proof when we speak of God. That we really can t prove he is a being, but there are many
things that we can t prove. There are some philosophers that define a proof as one that convinces
every sane and rational person who carefully considers the argument. (Evan and Manis, 2009) If we
used this then our classical arguments would fail as proofs because they don t hit every person. The ...

Although there were many advantages to the articles, test, and fit tips, there were some disadvantages

My Food Allergies
Have you ever been offered a disgusting looking homemade meal by a loved one and you didn t know
how to turn it down because you didn t want to offend them? That s really unfortunate for you because
I m guessing you had to suffer through the horrid taste and finish the entire dish. But for me, I have a
secret answer so that I never have to eat anything I don t want. With one sentence containing one
magic word, I can turn down any nasty looking meal. Want to know what it is? Allergies. That is my
magic word. All I have to say is, I probably can t eat that because I have egg, peanut, and treenut
allergies but thank you so much for the thought! Just like that, I am safe from the horror with no blood

This is just one advantage of having an anaphylactic food allergy but I figured it was a useful tool to

found the ruins of a cemetery and a settlement which had been the nucleus of a Jewish community
which Father de Vaux views as possibly being the wilderness retreat of the Essenes. It will take a
whole generation of Biblical scholars to assess the value of these manuscripts (Harding, 1956)
Introduction
Indeed, some 50 years have elapsed and many Biblical scholars have assessed the manuscripts.
It will not be the purposes of this paper to debate the validity of the documents nor enter into
archeological debate, this paper however will in Section 1, provide further historical evidence in
support of the Essenes sect dwelling at Qumran. The writer will present an outline of the monastic
lifestyle of the Essenes, their closed community, their laws and beliefs.

Compare And Contrast Federalists And Democratic Republicans
Federalists versus Democratic Republicans
A political party is defined as an organized group of people with roughly similar political views, that
seeks to influence the public by getting its candidates elected to public office. During George
Washington s first term, there were no publicly accepted political parties. During Washington s second
term, two parties emerged. The Federalists and Democratic Republicans are similar by being the first
political parties to emerge and are different through their stances on government power, the economy,
and foreign affairs, which all affected their group of supporters.
The Federalists and Democratic Republicans are similar by being the first political parties to emerge.
In 1797, George Washington stepped down from the presidency after two successful terms in office.
Prior to this, towards the end of his last term, he wrote his farewell address which contained his advice
to whatever comes after him. He warns the people that the emergence of political parties fighting to
control the nation would cause divisive factions. While different groups existed while George
Washington was president, he was the glue that kept the people together. But once he stepped down
from office, two main political parties emerged and began competing for control of the presidency,
Congress, and the states. These two political parties were the Federalists and the Democratic
Republicans. The two had opposing views on nearly every policy, but both began at the same

Atlas Mobility
In the article An Atlas Mobility Shows Paths Out of Poverty authors David Leonhardt, Amanda Cox,
and Claire Cain Miller analyze the studies of poverty mobility. The article analyzes studies that
researched the opportunities children have of escaping poverty based on the location their families
currently lived in or moved to. The study found that Based on the earnings records of millions of
families that moved with children, it finds that poor children who grow up in some cities and towns
have sharply better odds of escaping poverty than similar poor children elsewhere (Leonhardt, Cox,
Miller, 2015). The main point of the study was that Geography does not merely separate rich from
poor but also plays a large role in determining which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pima County is better than 42% of countries in upward mobility for poor girls ( The Best and Worst

poor girls income while it takes $5,650 from a poor boys income ( The Best and Worst Places to Grow

with strong upward mobility: less segregation by income and race, lower levels of income inequality,
better schools, lower rates of violent crime, and a larger share of two parent households ( The Best and
Worst Places to Grow Up , 2015). In my area Santa Cruz County is the best county to grow up in for
upward mobility but Pima County is the best county to grow up in for upward mobility for girls ( The

The Problem Of Teen Depression Stigma
Teen Depression Stigma It is proven that one in five teens experience depression. Depression is a
condition where a person feels hopeless, not motivated, or not interested in life, lasting at least 2
weeks or longer. There is an urgency to start talking about dealing with this because suicide is the
third leading cause of death in teens and fifteen percent of teens have actually considered suicide.
According to Amy Sutton 55% of the population without depression don t consider it to be an actual
disease. This stigma is making it close to impossible for teens to say they are going through
depression. Some people say it is just a phase , kids cannot get depression , or people with depression
are crazy . The contributing factors of rational thought, the stigma, judgement, and fear of treatment
make dealing with the depression that much more difficult. In the last few years, studies have proven
that at least one in five teens have had at least one depressive episode before going into college. The
Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) acknowledged, In 2000, around 3.5 million high
school students have suicide ideation, two million have made specific suicide plans, and 1 million
have made suicide attempts. . The CDC mentioned, in the early 2000s depression in teens had been
common, and it has gotten worse yet. Young children and young adults could go without treatment or
diagnoses because they were just being kids or just being a teenager . It is true

Chronic Kidney Disease Research Paper
Chronic Kidney Disease
Kidney failure has spread immensely throughout the United States for the past decade. There are many
causes for kidney failure, but the top two in the U.S. are Diabetes and Hypertension. Before this
research project, I was not aware of how common Chronic Kidney Disease is amongst us, especially
since it ranges from birth to old age. One in 10 adults within the age of 20 or older has been diagnosed
with kidney disease in the U.S., (Davita.com). This disease causes a complete lifestyle change and
with the right educational tools, diet, compliance, and support from family and friends, the patient
should be able to keep living without any complications.

Transplantation has a high demand and for this there is a waiting list depending on the severity of the
patient, but there can be many complications with this as well. A patient has to undergo a series of
laboratory tests and an in depth medical background check that can take months before they can plan
to be on the waiting list, also there is also a minimum of years the patient would have to reach on
dialysis in order to be on the list. You can almost think of this transplant process as being pre qualified
for a home and finally being able to close on your property months later. Once a patient is
transplanted, their surgeon will prescribe anti rejection medications for the rest of their life and are
expected to keep a healthy lifestyle in order for the transplant not to fail. There are most cases that
patient s body starts to reject the transplant naturally even with anti rejection medications and there are
also cases that a patient can expire from a kidney transplant. All in all, a patients transplant can live up
to 7 8 years with great

Rain Barrels Bill Essay
Its planting season in Colorado, Sergio, a resident of Greeley, goes to Home Depot, and buys a wide
range of plants: Heirloom tomatoes, tulips, sunflowers and even some daisies for his garden. Like
most Coloradoans, he loves spending countless of hours outside, maintaining his garden. There is a
great devotion to horticulture and hard work, digging holes, having the right fertilizer, the appropriate
spacing between plants, and of course watering them. In order to keep these plants lush and
flourishing with a spectrum of color, water is a necessity. A great way to obtain water is to harvest
rainwater. The state of Colorado is known for its sustainable efforts for the environment. So
conserving rainwater from one s rooftop is common sense. But if Sergio were to harvest rainwater
from his downspouts, he would be breaking the law. The debate is to whether to allow residents of
Colorado to collect rainwater in barrels for outdoor purposes. ... Show more content on

The Residential Precipitation Collection Rain Barrels bill aims to make every drop of rain count. This
bill was introduced to the Senate Committee of Agriculture, Natural Resources, Energy, on March 4,
2015, and sponsored by Democrats Rep. Daneya Esgar, Rep. Jessie Danielson, and Sen. Michael
Merrifield (CO HB15 1259). The bill would allow the collection of precipitation from a residential
rooftop if: A maximum of 2 rain barrels with a combined storage capacity of 110 (CO HB15 1259).
Additionally, it would lift current bans set by the Prior Appropriation law which was enacted in 1872.
The Prior Appropriation law, is refers to as the priority doctrine, which is a system mandated by
Colorado s Constitution and it regulates the use of surface water in rivers or tributary groundwater
connected to the river basin (qtd. in Hobbs). Water right and well holders are the only residents that

Opium Wars
Opium Wars and They Changed China In the early eighteen hundreds, Britain and other European
countries demanded more and more Chinese commodities, especially tea and silk. However, only the
port in Canton was opened to foreign countries, and Chinese would not take any other form of
payments besides silver. The desire to make China into a free market that foreigners have more access
to and the increasing, though illegal, European opium import to China eventually created tension
between the European countries, especially Britain, and the Chinese government (Allingham Par. 1 2).
The two battles fought and won by European powers were known as the Opium Wars. China s

The combination of increasing unemployment rate and food price created severe poverty across the
nation (Goldfinger par. 1 3). The currencies in China, too, went through a lot of changes to
accommodate the increasing trade. At first, the silver Spanish dollars became rare and increased in
value so much that it was outlawed as a usable currency. However, at the same time, the Chinese
copper currency were also being used less due to the fact that the metal was becoming rare and the
administration of the currency was extremely poor. The Mexican dollar was introduced but the
problem was not solved until paper money were used in 1853 (Goldfinger par. 2). To make the
economy worse, during the First Opium War, China had to pay six million silver dollars to ransom
Canton, and an additional nine million dollars were paid to foreigner traders for their loss. Later,
twelve million taels of silver were paid to Britain and France under the treaties negotiated after the
Second Opium War. All of those factors weakened the Chinese economy in the 1800s (Allingham
par.5 9). However, the Opium Wars impact is everlasting, for the Chinese have embarked on a long
and arduous struggle to expunge the humiliations which they suffered during and since the Opium

Essay On Barbara Strozzi
A woman of risk, controversy, perseverance, and ambition does not even begin to describe Barbara
Strozzi. Being a woman composer in the Baroque Era was not a social norm and caused those who
pursued this career suffering, disadvantage, and negative labels. However, as one of the top women
composers and singers in the Baroque Era, Strozzi did not let negativity stop her. Strozzi, thrown into
the music world by her, father, Giulio, excelled the best she could as a woman composer, developing
her artistic skills, embracing publishing and print, and utilizing the opportunities she was given.
1600 Venice, under the Republican constitution, was no place for a woman, for they were, absolutely

Barbara is known for, her short and quite simple ariettas, as well as, her large scale cantatas. Using her
imagination, Strozzi was able to create sharp rhythms, frequent meter changes, developed motifs, and

melodies, and basslines that were, active and frequently playful. A composer of sensitivity and
emotional expression, allowed Barbara to composed on, her expert personal knowledge of the human
voice, and created works with techniques that were ahead of her time.
As one can see, Strozzi worked hard to ensure that she left, a precise, and as authentic, of (a) legacy of
her arts as she could. She was a woman who, like so many others in her time, was used by men, her
own father, and Venice itself. However, despite her social position, Barbara was able to distinguish
herself from the other male composers of her time. Although, her voice remained small, and she
disappeared in history with no monument or testament, her dedication to print allows for her legacy to

Nickel And Dimed Summary
Nickel and Dimed by journalist Barbara Ehrenreich is the recollection of Ehrenreich s experiment to
examine the economic conditions that the working poor in America had to endure after a major
welfare reform, which made welfare less of a safety net and encouraged recipients of welfare to be
reliant on a job and a job alone. With just a car, a couple thousand dollars, and a PhD in biology,
Ehrenreich went undercover in a few states in America to take on the minimum wage life herself, and
prove her claim that the working poor are being undermined by the covert and unjust class system in
America. Her claim proved to be true several times throughout her experiment. In each state, she
needed at least two jobs to pay for just her bare necessities, which led to exhaustion. It was so difficult
for her to manage two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

through everything, including injury, because if they did not, they would not be receiving their vital
paycheck, and every cent counts. Holly, who is visibly weak, twists her ankle on the job, and keeps on
working, because she can not afford to miss a work day. Also in Maine, Ehrenreich contracted a rash
from the cleaning equipment she was using, and she found it difficult to pay for the proper cream to
treat it with the money she earned from working two jobs! One can only imagine how single mothers
working two jobs pay for their children s needs, when Ehrenreich found it hard to support herself, and
had to dip into her own savings to do something as simple as get the proper medicine for her body.
However, this makes you question how authentic an experiment like hers can be. Ehrenreich mentions
many times that her experience is just one out of millions, and there are different factors that play in,
like children and race, but that does not change the fact that it is not real life for

Personal Narrative-Not So Fast Menendez
Not so fast Menendez, I warn as I grab his arm stopping him from making an easy mistake. Always a

Menendez doesn t appear happy to be schooled in bike maintenance but hell if I was letting him mess

cans of oil all while Menendez stands there watching me intensely. I have more work to do, I tell him,

Evaluation Of Neurological Role Of Self Regulation
Chapter 1 Neurological role of self regulation in resilience
One approach of emotional self regulation is reappraisal, as a strategy for diminishing negative affect.
Oschner et al. (2002) examined this in an fMRI study focusing on the neurological basis of reappraisal
and it s efficacy as a possible coping strategy to negative stimuli or stressors. The study employed
fifteen neurotypical right handed female volunteers. They were then placed into two conditions, an
attend trial, where they were tasked with allowing themselves to respond emotionally and be mindful
of their emotions without trying to alter them, and a reappraise trial, where they were asked to
reappraise the images cognitively in an attempt to decrease their negative ... Show more content on

This suggests that the medial prefrontal cortex may mediate fear responses (Bremner, 2006) and
therefore be an area of interest as a neurological basis for cognitive self regulatory strategies. While
the presence of good self regulation may be key to greater resilience failure to self regulate may form
the basis for multiple risky behaviors such as addiction, risky sexual behavior, and poor financial
planning and decision making. For example Shroeder (2007) suggest that 40% of deaths in America
are the result of poor self regulation; it is for this reason that emotional regulation is a significant
component of self regulation, as poor emotional affect may lead to poor behavioral control including
risky and aggressive behavior, as well as bingeing. This may particularly be the case during
adolescence, where an increase in risky behavior is observed as a result of a decreased capacity for
self regulation, which may be re established during adulthood due to restructuring of the prefrontal
cortex (Steinberg, 2008)
Schardt et al. (2010), suggest that increased relationships between the lateral prefrontal cortex and the
amygdala results in increased success at self regulation in the form of emotion regulation. Thus, a
decrease in links between the neuronal structures is often found in individuals with mood disorders

Arteriole Vs Glomerula
The glomerulus is a network of capillaries. It is formed by the afferent arteriole. The glomerular
capsule in the enclosed sac that holds the glomerulus and filters the blood of this. The difference
between the efferent arteriole and the afferent arteriole is that the efferent arteriole carries blood away
from the glomerulus, while the afferent arteriole has a backup of blood flow in the glomerulus. This is
due to the afferent arteriole being smaller in diameter, which creates a resistance to blood flow. The
backup of blood then causes an increased pressure level in the glomerular cavity. There are quite a few
differences with proximal and distal tubules, such as: diameter, microvilli, shape, connection areas,
and jobs. The proximal has

We all have a culture, but some of us embrace it more than others. I have a culture. It is made up of many, many elements. My culture is unique and personal to me because it ultimately makes up who I am as a person. I will be discussing my baseball glove, baseball as a whole, and even my music interests and how my culture differs from my family s. My baseball glove connects me to my culture. My glove is black and tan. The model is a Mizuno. It is 12.5 inches long, plus it is great for playing in the outfield. My family and I have always loved baseball, whether it s watching the Chicago Cubs or practicing it ourselves. It is a goal of ours to visit every Major League stadium. So far, we have visited Wrigley Field, Miller Park, and Busch Stadium. In April, we are going to Colorado to watch the Rockies play the Cubs at Coors Field. We always have a blast during baseball season. We all consider it normal to shout at the TV like maniacs if the Cubs begin to struggle. At the dinner table, my dad and I love to talk about analytics and statistics. We even talk about future moves for teams to help them improve. We consider trades and transactions that make sense for both sides. I go as far as going on MLB 17 The Show and completely rebuilding MLB rosters, it s sorta nerdy thing in all honesty. My dad and I even build one day fantasy teams on Fanduel, an app that allows us to make teams with a specific budget and even make real money. Though it is seen as a gamble by my mother, we just enjoy doing it, although we don t win very often. One time though, I made a team that won us four hundred dollars and we were psyched. I feel like baseball actually helps me bond and connect with my family, especially my parents. They become enthusiastic watching me play. My mom is always nervous though. Everytime she watches she play, she s always real jittery. This is why baseball is such a huge and vivid part of my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Effects Of Drought And Its Effects On The Environment Since we moved into the 21st century, the condition of global environment is one of the most popular topics, and it created many controversies. Those topics are wide ranged, from the natural disasters like earthquake, tornado or volcano eruption; to the man made disasters like nuclear war or air / water / sound pollutions. As a student, I too am interested and have some concerns for the planet that we are living in. Among the disasters, drought is the one that I want to learn more about it. So what is drought? Drought is described as a period of time when the water supply is decreasing, and the length of the drought might occur in months or even years (basicplant). It occurs in virtually all climatic zones and its characteristics may be different in certain regions. According to The Ojos Negros Research Group, the characteristics of the drought are scarcity of water, low precipitation, and mostly occurred in dry season . Other climatic factors like high wind/temperature and low relative humidity (The Ojos Negros Research Group) are usually related with the drought. Drought can be put into four categories based on the regions, needs, and disciplinary approaches. The first type of drought is called Meteorological drought; it is defined on the basis degree of dryness [compare to a normal/average amount], and the duration of the dry period (National Drought Mitigation Center). Agricultural drought is the second type and it is similar to the Meteorological drought, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Is there a single person, place, thing or event that has connected past slavery to the now and free present? One could mention the Willie Lynch letter. Willie Lynch was a British slave owner that lived in the West Indies. The letter is said to be a speech on how to make a slave, while addressing other slave masters. In the letter, the making of a slave was a science, because he had boasted about used some of the newest and some of the oldest methods to control their slaves. He even goes on to say his ... In 2011, blacks made 66 cents for every dollar earned by whites, compared to 55 cents for every dollar earned by whites in 1963. How do Black Americans break the poverty cycle? What caused this? One suggestion says that under resourced schools and mass incarceration drives this cycle. Both must be eradicated, neither is adequate in itself. Schools in poor neighborhoods most of the time are inadequate to handle the mission of educating the youth. On the other hand, a black student in a suburban school is six times more likely to graduate on time and be college ready than a black student in a segregated urban school. Five times as many Whites are using drugs as African Americans, yet African Americans are sent to prison for drug offenses at 10 times the rate of Whites. This is due to unfair drug laws, over policing and prosecutions in black neighborhoods and overenthusiastic district attorneys. If America can find a way to improve educational attainment for black males and eliminate disparate rates of incarceration for drug offences would begin to break the poverty cycle. • 6. Was Thomas Paine Made No Secret For His Hatred Of The... Kristen Thompson Common Sense M/W 2 3:15 Thomas Paine made no secret for his hatred of the British monarchy. This was partially due to their absolutism beliefs, the oppression of his countrymen, and the system of government where the rich got richer and the poor get poorer. He believed that Britain would never have a balanced government so long as monarchy and hereditary succession stayed in place. When Thomas Paine immigrated to Philadelphia, several things had strong influences on his writing of Common Sense. The Intolerable acts as well as the Enlightenment Challenge influenced his writing concerning the view of parliament and British monarchy (maybe switch this sentence for the next one). After Parliament had passed The Intolerable Acts, Paine watched the continuation and control the British Monarchy and Parliament had in America, along with their unnatural behaviors and influence over government issues, the ideological changes that came from The Enlightenment Challenge . Paine believed change could and should happen; that America could find economic independence and not carry any burden of debt if they separated from Britain since their debt was actually Britain s in the first place. Paine said that there could be no reconciliation; he understood that to become free and have liberties with an independent government there was no going back, only forward. • 8. Descriptive Essay About State Park Brook! You will never guess what I saw at the state park in Arkansas with my family. I want to hear all about it, walk me through it step by step and don t leave any detail out. OK, I will start with the drive to the park. The road is secluded, trees encompass you as you drive. The GPS directs that it is only a few more miles, but in your mind, you know you need to turn around. Then the trees open up to a little wooden cabin just off the road. After 6 hours in the vehicle, you bust open the door, and as your legs swing out the door, you can feel a stretch throughout your entire body. Your body was stiff but now is surrounded by the fresh air. The little cabin is actually a camp store, and in it you find the assistance and the map needed to tackle the upcoming adventure. The road winds a few more miles till you near the lodge. Buckled down with water, a camera, and wearing the proper shoes you walk toward the trail. Something catches your eye, and with a turn of your head, there it is. The lodge overlooks the most incredible view, one that could only have been created by God. The lookout reveals mountains of trees with an unforeseeable future. After admiring the beauty, the trail calls your name. It starts out wide and covered with gravel, without a moment to think the terrain changes. You start to walk down the mountain, the gravel turned to dirt and with the help from the dew and rain it was mud, and the mountain grew a little steeper with every breath. Later, you ... • 10. The Invention Of The Automobile Industry The automobile industry is said to have its beginnings dating to the 19th century. Gottieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach, of Germany, fitted their engine into a stagecoach in 1886 (Kindersley, 2011, 10). They were both successful at creating the first four wheeled, gas engine vehicle. It reached a top speed of ten miles per hour. Each engine was still being fitted into stagecoaches (Kindersley, 2011, 10). The industrial revolution introduced a wide array of new ideas for the automobile. The ideas ranged from air cooled engines, single cylinder engines, steam powered engines, electric cars, to a vehicle with a sliding gear transmission (Kindersley, 11, 2011). Other ideas included overhead cam engines, and the introduction of the gearbox. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the industry this became only the beginning. During the 1930 s, the world was gripped by the second World War which saw the industry, especially in Germany, being used to support ongoing war efforts again. The cars of Mercedes were adored by the Third Reich and the cars were being used by motor racing as well (Kindersley,15, 2011). This enabled the company more exposure later on. The 1930 s were hailed as a time of great challenge especially with the onslaught of The Great Depression. The world was met by the introduction of the station wagon and pick up truck in the 1940 s. • 13. Analysis Of Functions Of Effective Management Essay Introduction Normally, management is generally known as that social process which entails the fulfillment of the given set objectives of a particular organization through effective and economical regulation and operation of the organization. The system is a dynamic process since it consists of handling of different activities and elements each time. However, these elements and activities are not like the operative functions which merely involve finance, purchasing, marketing and many more of similar type. Moreover, the activities are commonly practiced by every manger regardless of the status or the level within the chain of command. Besides, effective management always goes in hand with leadership and includes employees motivation, creatively solving of problems and ensuring timely completion of the organization s goals and objectives. The writing experience that is the most memorable to me is in my freshman year of high school at University High School in Orange City, Florida. I wrote a short story called Speech to Roseanne . This story was about a young southern female teenager who was just starting high school. During the previous summer time she had a major dispute that happened between herself and best friend, Roseanne. This dispute carried over to the start of their freshmen year in high school. We were given about a month to brainstorm, write a rough draft, have peer reviews, and write our final essays for our final in that class. She wanted us to practice our supporting details in this short story. Mccloskey Argumentative Analysis McCloskey states in his article On being an Atheist that he finds much more comfort in being an atheist than believing in an all powerful and all knowing God because of the presence of evil in the world. He goes on to use this evil in the world as his proof that there is no God that exists. He then uses arguments such as the cosmological argument, and the teleological argument to go further into his reasoning. He states that these classical arguments cannot prove that God exists. He argues that if there were an all powerful being in the world then would he not rid the world of evil? This is why he believes there to be more comfort in atheism. Yes there is evil in our world unfortunately so how should a theist, A Christian, respond to McCloskey and his arguments? Lets first look at his wording of proofs . Foreman spoke in his video that we should stray away from the word proof when we speak of God. That we really can t prove he is a being, but there are many things that we can t prove. There are some philosophers that define a proof as one that convinces every sane and rational person who carefully considers the argument. The study employed fifteen neurotypical right handed female volunteers. For example Shroeder (2007) suggest that 40% of deaths in America are the result of poor self regulation; it is for this reason that emotional regulation is a significant component of self regulation, as poor emotional affect may lead to poor behavioral control including risky and aggressive behavior, as well as bingeing. This may particularly be the case during adolescence, where an increase in risky behavior is observed as a result of a decreased capacity for self regulation, which may be re established during adulthood due to restructuring of the prefrontal cortex (Steinberg, 2008) Schardt et al. The difference between the efferent arteriole and the afferent arteriole is that the efferent arteriole carries blood away from the glomerulus, while the afferent arteriole has a backup of blood flow in the glomerulus. This is due to the afferent arteriole being smaller in diameter, which creates a resistance to blood flow. The backup of blood then causes an increased pressure level in the glomerular cavity.
