Cavalry Vs Roman Military Tactics
In the Ancient world cavalry wasn t used for the most part. However, there were some exceptions
such as the Macedonians. The cavalry was part of the Macedonian tactical system. However, in the
later years of the Roman Empire cavalry started to become more important for frontier defense
because it allowed for increased mobility. Also, romans used cavalryfor the rapid concentration of
forces to close the gap between legions. After 250 AD, cavalry was even more predominant in the
roman army. Furthermore, cavalry was very effective. Infantryhad several disadvantages when
confronted by cavalry. The only ways that infantry could defeat cavalry was if they had superior
fire power, which they didn t have at that time, and if they were disciplined

Artler s Journey
Once upon a time, there was a carbon atom named Artler. This carbon atom started his journey as
hard wood in a pinyon tree. He stayed here for millions and millions of years. Eventually, Artler
was buried in a landslide. This eventually turned him into an atom of carbon in coal. He now
carries on with his adventure in the lithosphere of fossil fuels. Artler is now living his life happily
as a piece of coalin the lithosphere. He has been here for millions of years once again, just like
with the pinyon tree. As a piece of coal, Artler was burned in a stove to warm a nice happy family.
Now, Artler is becoming carbonin the form of CO2. Finally, he will lie in the atmosphere all by
himself. For the next part of Artler s journey, he is CO2 in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Artler remains here for about 5 months. However, Artler is then used by a bacterium in order to
produce energy. Artler is now energy, and being sent back to the atmosphere. Once again, Artler
heads back to his favorite place, the atmosphere. Artler is in the atmosphere as CO2 once more.
He will remain here for about 40 years. However this time, Artler dissolved into Lake Powell.
Here, he remains a nice little happy carbon atom in the lake. Artler is now in the hydrosphere.
Here in the hydrosphere, Artler is carbon in groundwater. He remains here for hundreds of years.
Sadly, Artler precipitates out of the groundwater. Next, he becomes travertine in the ground.
Artler is nearing the end of his journey, as he now enters the lithosphere of limestone. Artler is
not just any limestone, for he is Kaibab Limestone. He remains here for millions of years.
However, sadly, he is mined in order to make cement. During this process, CO2 is released into
the atmosphere. Once more, Artler is sent up into the atmosphere. Artler is in the atmosphere for
one last final time. He remains here for about 62 years as CO2. He is finally absorbed by a plant
once more. Here, he becomes part of the plant through photosynthesis. Artler finally ends his
journey in the biosphere once more, as a

HarryВґs Buniness Venture Based on the Hunting Act 2004 Essay
In order for Harry s business venture to be legally permitted he would have ensure that each time
this event was to take place strict rules will be followed by all participants in order to completely
comply with the law laid down in the Hunting Act 2004.
Firstly Harry should be aware that section 1 of the Hunting act Hunting wild mammals with dogs
states that A person commits an offence if he hunts a wild mammal with a dog, unless his hunting
is exempt. From this Harry would need to determine whether Mink are in fact a wild mammal,
this can be done by referring to section 11 sub section 1 where under paragraphs (c) a wild

or flushing it out of cover, is exempt hunting if the conditions in this paragraph are satisfied. We
can see from what we are told about the Mink eating young birds from a nearby wildfowl centre
and trout from a farmer s trout farm. That Harrys activity will fall under section 2 The first
condition is that the stalking or flushing out is undertaken for the purpose Of paragraph (a)
preventing or reducing serious damage which the wild mammal would otherwise cause sub

Pt2520 Week 1 Critical Thinking Assignment
System Level Scripting #2 This week s critical thinking assignment explores the system level
scripting functionality of the Linux operating system. Documenting each step in the assignment
will demonstrate how to use the awk and sed commands to display different sets of data from and
file based on the commands used. The sedcommand will also be used to change the data within the
test file. These steps will be discussed and illustrated with screenshots in the following paper. awk
and sed
After opening the shell prompt and logging in as the root user which is demonstrated in the first
two screenshots below, the next involved checking the current directory location in the shell
prompt. As seen from the second screenshot, the current directory is the /home/user directory which
is the home directory for the user created in the test installation of Linux I am using. Step three in
the assignment involves using the man command to view the documentation for the awk and sed
commands. The awk command had quite extensive documentation of over 800 lines while the sed
command had almost 300. These commands can perform a wide variety of tasks which make them
very useful tools when writing scripts.

Edith Wharton s The House of Mirth Essay
Edith Wharton s The House of Mirth Edith Wharton s The House of Mirth serves as a strict
model of etiquette for high society in the Gilded Age. It teaches one the intricate art of keeping up
appearances and assimilating into the fickle leisure class. At the same time, the novel s underlying
purpose is to subtly critique this social order. Lily Bart s perpetual, although often reluctant quest
for financial stability and mass approval is a vehicle for demonstrating the numerous absurdities
and constant pretensions of a class that revolved around money and opinion. Lily Bart embodies
the enormous tension between old and new money that was so prevalent during the 1880 s. Since
birth, she was fated to be in the middle of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hudson Bart had appeared young; but Lily could not recall the time when her father had not
been bald and slightly stooping, with streaks of grey in his hair, and a tired walk. It was a shock
to her to learn afterward that he was but two years older than her mother. Wharton hints at the
toll of the constant anxiety of falling from luxury, Lily could not recall the time when there had
been money enough, and in some vague way her father seemed always to blame for the
deficiency. She offers a hidden opinion that obsessing about money leaves one no time to enjoy
life, It seemed to tire him to rest... Ultimately, Mr. Bart died when he went bankrupt, which
symbolizes high society s materialistic view that a man is only useful and valued if he has a fat
wallet. Individuals lived by the idea that happiness could be bought, while unwittingly causing
their own demise. Wharton also implies that high society s symbols of luxury can often be
harmful when Lily becomes addicted to tea. Wharton critiques society s willingness to go to any
extent for the sake of appearing prominent, Lily was naturally proud of her mother s aptitude in
this line: she had been brought up in the faith that, whatever it cost, one must have a good cook,
and be what Mrs. Bart called decently dressed. The characters are living a constant lie, and the fear
that anyone outside the immediate family can be privy to one s true financial position is evident
when Mrs. Bart is reluctant to

Monetary and Fiscal Policy Essay examples
Monetary and fiscal policy and their applications to the third world countries with a huge informal
sector
This essay seeks to explain what are monetary and fiscal policy and their roles and contribution to
the economy. This includes the role of the government in regulating the economical performance of
a country. It also explains the different features and tools of monetary and fiscal policy and their
performance when applied to the third world countries with a huge informal sector.
Monetary Policy
Monetary policy is the mechanism of a country s monetary authority (usually the central bank)
taking up measures to regulate the supply of money and the rates of interest. It involves controlling
money in the economy to promote economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This involves buying or selling financial instruments like bonds in exchange of money to be
deposited with the central bank. By selling the financial instruments, the central bank mops up the
cash in circulation. On the other hand, selling injects money thus increasing the supply of money
(Bernanke 2006).
Interest rates
By increasing or reducing the nominal interest rates, the money supply is either increased or
reduced. When the rate goes up, people are not able to borrow, thus the money does not enter into
circulation. But when the rates go down, people borrow in big numbers therefore increasing the
money supply. So the monetary authority just needs to adjust the interest rates either upwards or
downwards, and in direct results will be reflected on the money on circulation. Discount window
lending
This is the situation where the commercial banks and other lending institutions borrow from the
central bank at lower interest rates compared to how they will lend. This gives the institution a
chance to vary credit conditions depending on the central bank lending rates. If the central bank
raises its lending rates, then the other lending institutions will have to raise their rates too, thus
discouraging the public from borrowing. But if the central bank lowers its rate, then commercial
banks and other institutions will be forced to lower their rates too. This will encourage the

Essay Military Bearing
In the United States NAVY, military bearing is the root in which every service member practices
in order to carry out good discipline and ethics throughout ones military careers. The Eleven
General Orders of a Sentry, The Articles of the UCMJ, as well as our own Sailors Creed
illustrates how a military service member should conduct himself or herself on a daily basis, on
and off duty. Dependability is a major aspect of military bearing. Without dependability, one can
neither perform properly in the workspace nor be depended upon by their coworkers, or chain of

Respecting senior officers is imperative in order to maintain good military order up and down
the chain of command. Punctuality is a key aspect of ones NAVY career. Tardiness can affect
the mission of the command. In such an event as General Quarte! rs, one can not afford to be
late in carrying out their assigned tasks, for the repercussions can be life threatening to ones
fellow shipmates, as well as to the integrity of the ship. Being late to watch can affect the quality
of work being done in the work environment. Quarters is a vital necessity within our NAVY
where ones chain of command can brief all hands on new information concerning either the
workspaces or ones specific job. Watch standing is every sailor s duty. Without a proper and
thorough turnover it hinders the effectiveness of the watch station. Missing information during
turnover can result in wasted man hours, equipment damage, or can compromise the security of
the command in which one works. Physical readiness standards are another element of military
bearing. Physical readiness standards or better known as PRT s are held every six months for
NAVY personnel. The PRT is a test in which each member of the NAVY must perform and pass
within certain standards in order to maintain peek performance in his or her military careers. Such
aspects of the PRT are based upon sit up, sit and reach, push ups, as well as

Paleolithic And Neolithic Similarities
The Paleolithic Era and the Neolithic Era had many similarities and differences. The Paleolithic
Era was known as the old stone age, it stated on 2,000,000 BCE. After the Paleolithic Era came the
Neolithic Era which was also known as the new stone age. The people that live during the
Paleolithic Era where nomads which meant they moved around to gather their food. The paleolithic
Era people hunted and gathered their food. However, during the NeolithicEra the people knew how
to farm and domesticate their plants and animals. This allowed the Neolithic Era people to be
sedentary and stay in permanent villages. The Neolithic people also went out hunting for their

The Empire Of Shaka Zulu Empire
The Empire of Shaka Zulu
Sources are scarce on the Zulu Empire and Shaka s reign of it; there s only word of mouth stories
to go by, in addition to the pieces historians and anthropologists have been putting together for a
long time. What they do know, though, was that Shaka was born illegitimate to the royal family of
a minor tribe in South Africa. He was passed on to two other tribes, learning the martial art of their
time. He was able to show his strength in advanced combat tactics, in a time where people were
mostly pastoral. Through his rise and conquest, Shaka was able to change the culture of the people
he conquered and left behind, and was part of a series of events that ultimately transformed the
Zulu empire entirely. After living with the Elangeni with his mother for a while, Shaka moved
to live and train with the Mtethwa people, where he was able to show off his combat and
warfare prowess, first as a warrior, then as a leader of a regiment. Warfare at this time was ritual,
or to settle disputes, where tribes were invited to fight, and were mostly unorganized, using long
spears and insults, with no close combat. He brought in new tactics and styles, in addition to the
new, shorter spears he equipped his army with. After assassinating his older, legitimate heir
brother, Shaka took control of the tribe he was born into. A few years later, the person who was
his mentor and who he continued to serve under, was murdered. This set off the twenty five years

All states hold different standards in regards to entry into nursing practice. Begging the question,
are nurses adequately prepared for the healthcare field and what does this mean for the future of the
nursing profession? The unified standard of entry into nursing practice is a must for the growth of
the nursing profession. This paper will review the ANA s 1965 position on entry into the nursing
practice, the current discussions on entry and advancements in the nursing profession, and the
current challenges in nursing education. American Nurses Associations 1965 position In 1963, the
U.S. Surgeon General s Consultant Group on Nursing identified a nationwide nursing shortage.
This led to the Comprehensive Nurse Training Act of 1964 that created nurse education and training
programs and also supplied grant funds for student loans, nursing school, and education grants
(Smith, 2009). A year later the Comprehensive Nurse Training Act led to the American Nurses
Association Committee on Education to look at nursing education, practice, scope, and
responsibilities. While looking into nursing education, concerns were raised about hospital based
diploma programs and the increasing complexity of healthcare. As a result, the American Nurses
Association s (ANA) released their 1965 position paper on entry into nursing practice. In their 1965
position paper the ANA recommended three things they

Bioethical And Political Issues Essay
Identifying Bioethical and Political Issues
Scenario 1: You are the healthcare administrator of a nursing home. You are informed by your
Admissions Director that a new memory impaired resident has been admitted into your long term
care unit. The staff is concerned about the involvement of family with your resident. Family
members from out of town arrived and expressed concern about your resident s do not resuscitate
(DNR) orders which were authorized by the Power of Attorney of another family member. A
quarrel erupts in the nursing home with family members voicing their opinions loudly. You arrive
on the scene and are immediately told by the visiting family member, Do you know who I am? I
am a supervisor for the Department of Health and Human Services and will not hesitate to have
your facility surveyed for noncompliance. What do you do?
Any situation that erupts which can disturb the other residents is something that must be diffused
immediately, as a healthcare administrator I would have to address this state of affairs with
empathy and genuine concern for the opinions of the family members not in agreement with the
do not resuscitate (DNR) order. First, I would ask that we move to a private location where we
could speak and if voices are elevated it would not interfere with the day to day operation of the
nursing home. Second, I would ask to see the Power of Attorney if it is available to speak to the
legality of the document. Provided that, all the previous terms set in place are up to par, I would
directly talk about the statement made about the family member making me aware of her position
with the Department of Health and Human Services. Moreover, going through the document to
point out the date signed, to make note if the new resident signed it before here memory was too
far gone and if the Power of Attorney would not be substantial. Then I d call attention to the
difference between a Power of Attorney and Durable Power of Attorney. Grammarly states, The
biggest difference is in when the power ends. A general power of attorney ends when a person

Machiavelli The Father Of Modern Political Thought Summary

Machiavelli The Father of Modern Political Thought
There are many reasons why Machiavelli is widely considered the beginner of modern political
thought, one of the many is he studied strictly the politicians, and businessmen. Machiavelli
recognized the political playing field as a vile place only for the most dominating and cunning of
political giants. One of Machiavelli s most famous work, On Principalities, or known by the other
title, The Prince, absolutely announced a break with previous political beliefs secured between
moral and religion system, it examines the nature of his views on power that are still somewhat
in existent today. Machiavelli discusses in this work power over the people, oppressive power,
and shared power. Machiavelli discusses two specific groups of people such as the political elite
and the general public within this work.
While Machiavelli highlighted power over in relations between the political elite, he examines a
different kind of power in the affiliation between a prince and his public. Machiavelli noted that
he can share his power with his people, since he can trust his people more than he can the nobles.
The nobles cannot be satisfied if their ruler acts honorably, because their desires are more ethical
than the nobles are. The people are more forgiving and less greedy so he can place more trust in
his people and empower his trusting public.
Though the public may be more trustworthy Machiavelli also stated that a prince needed to be harsh
in the treatment of both the mixed sectors and the new sectors to avoid rebellions, the prince must
be harsh and cautious. It is easier for a prince to hold control after he has already stopped a
rebellion by empowering his power. Once the prince takes control of the city, he cannot forget it,
for his control can be easily lost.
Without order within his own court let alone his public, the prince would soon fall and possible
lose his control over everything. More or less how the prince started at the bottom and slowly made
his way to becoming a great king or he died at the feet of his people or someone of higher power

Grass Root Innovation Essay
This research aims at bridging important gaps in the way one conceptualizes the evolution of
innovations in the informal sector, by means of formally untrained minds, that have the potential
for Grass Root Innovations (GRIs). It also addresses important gaps in meeting needs of
disadvantaged communities, which formal systems like Science and Technology (S T) have not
been able to address so far, in a manner that is cost effective and affordable. While GRIs cannot
provide solutions to all problems, they can indeed provide solutions for some of them. The
conceptual basis, or the heuristics, underlying these innovations, can sometimes extend the frontiers
of science, or improve efficiency in larger mainstream technological systems, in addition to meeting
the local needs. But, incentives for developing technologies, which will have limited diffusion
because of socio ecological conditions, are difficult to institutionalize. The result being that such
niches remain unserved. However, if difficult regions, with poor market and bureaucratic
infrastructure, have to remain outside developmental impulses, then social harmony is unlikely to
be maintained. In this case, it would be difficult to attain sustainability. Effective inclusion of the...

to give the reader the sense of the Midwest. Visual plays a great factor in the passage, Marquarts
want to describe how the Midwest gets looked down. Marquart uses visuals .. through the state of

that it will feel like a long held pedal steel guitarnote . The visuals are used to print a picture in the
reader s mind showing the reader that long rides are boring and driving through the Midwest is
boring because there is nothing to see. She also used a simile to describe how it just one big long
road of nothing. The long guitar note is used to show the reader that a single note is dull when a

The Role Of Inhibitory Modulation Of Languages Among...
The Role of Inhibitory Modulation of Languages among Bilinguals
In a rich linguistic environment, where more than 7000 languages are spoken in 149 countries,
multilingualism and bilingualism are inevitable (Crystal, 2003; Grosjean, 2010). While the causes
of increased bilingualism and multilingualism can vary, the repercussions of this demographic shift
are wide reaching (O Brien, Curtin, Naqvi, 2014). Consequently, research on bilingualism and
multilingualism has also dramatically increased in the last few years in quantity, quality and breadth
(Bhatia William, 2013).
In the past two decades, series of discoveries has changed the way bilingualism was understood
(Kroll, Bobb, Hoshino, 2014). The consequences of bilingualism are not limited to native and
second language but appear to reflect reorganization of brain networks that hold implications for the
ways in which bilinguals negotiate cognitive competition more generally. The bilingual experience
for every individual is unique as it depends upon the context, linguistic proficiency, and purpose.
There is also a great variability in the amount and quality of exposure to the languages that the
individual learns. Due to this capriciousness in bilingual characteristics, defining bilingualism
becomes problematic and raises number of theoretical and methodological concerns (Hamers Blanc,
2000).
The term bilingualism is generally defined as an individual s ability to use two languages (ASHA,
2004; European

Literary Analysis Of Maya Angelou s Phenomenal Woman
The poem Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou, was voiced by Maya Angelou herself, and the
audience hearing that she was trying to reach was the pretty women in the world who have a
definition of flawless that Maya does not agree with. She wanted her audience to know that
while they may be beautiful, that she is beautiful and flawless by her own terms and that being
flawless does not only mean being small and looking like the models in the magazines. One
could argue that her audience is all the women in the world who are not small. She is also
reaching out to women who have some of the same characteristics that she has because they are
relatable. Men are also her audience as she goes on to explain why men find her attractive, this is
also a device used to show the audience that many different cases of women can be viewed as
attractive. A womanwho loves herself is a woman who will attract a man of good substance. Maya

The Causes Of The Soviet Union
The Soviet Union [8], officially the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR[9], Russian:
РЎРЎРЎР ) also known unofficially as Russia[10][11], was a socialist state in Eurasia that existed
from 1922 to 1991. Nominally a union of multiple equal national Soviet republics,[a] its government
and economy were highly centralized. The country was a one party state, governed by the
Communist Party with Moscow as its capital in its largest republic, the Russian Soviet Federative
Socialist Republic. The Russian nation had constitutionally equal status among the many nations of
the union but exerted de facto dominance in various respects.[12] Other major urban centres were
Leningrad, Kiev, Minsk, Alma Ata and Novosibirsk. The Soviet Unionwas one of... Show more

In June 1941, Germany invaded the Soviet Union, opening the largest and bloodiest theater of war
in history. Soviet war casualties accounted for the highest proportion of the conflict in the effort of
acquiring the upper hand over Axis forces at intense battles such as Stalingrad and Kursk. The
territories overtaken by the Red Army became satellite states of the USSR; the postwar division of
Europe into capitalist and communist halves would lead to increased tensions with the West, led by
the United States.
The Cold Waremerged by 1947, as the Eastern Bloc, united under the Warsaw Pact in 1955,
confronted the Western Bloc, united under NATO in 1949. Following Stalin s death in 1953, a
period of political and economic liberalization, known as de Stalinization and Khrushchev s Thaw ,
occurred under the leadership of Nikita Khrushchev. The Soviet Union took an early lead in the
Space Race, with the first artificial satellite and the first human spaceflight. In the 1970s, there was
a brief dГ©tente of relations with the United States, but tensions resumed with the Soviet Afghan
War in 1979. In the mid 1980s, the last Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, sought to reform and
liberalize the economy through his policies of glasnost and perestroika. The Cold War ended during
his tenure, and in 1989, Soviet satellite states in Eastern Europe overthrew their respective
communist governments.

Why People Hurt Research Paper
People hurt people for many different reasons. They do it for personal reasons or just to do it.
Hurting someone can come in many different ways from emotional or physical pain hurting
someone doesn t just mean making fun of it has different sides. Some people hurt for revenge or
just because they feel like doing it but its all bad either way. The most commonly seen kind of
hurt is for broken relationships. People put in days trying to think of ways to get back at her ex

Psalm 51 Meaning
The Lament of the Psalter
Psalm 51
Psalm 51 is one of my favorites; it is a Psalm of Lament and true repentance for the wrongdoing;
this Psalm is one of which many can at any point in life relate to. David was truly sorry for his
adultery with Bathsheba and the murdering of her husband to cover this sin. He knew his actions
had harmed many people. Nevertheless, he repented and asked God to forgive him. He knew that
there was no one to turn to and that only God was merciful enough to give him what he did not
received, which was life instead of death. On one hand, the intention is not to go into details of the
sin of David. Nonetheless, We believe it is sufficient to say that he broke two of the Ten
Commandments: the seventh commandment that says: do not commit adultery. He did that with
Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the Hittite. And then, he also broke the Sixth Commandment, ... Show

It is interesting that he directed to the deity as O God, not as my God. David had sinned and had
no right to call Him that. He made his appeal to the compassion and mercy of God. He saw God
as holy and merciful. David knew his sin had turned him away from God, who before this
incident had a close connection. He knew that only God s mercy could reach forgiveness. There
was no other way out. David asked God to blot out his transgressions, wash it and clean it. In
other words, Delete; this meant to remove a mark, in this case, his sin. The other expression is
clean (Psalm 51: 7). The Leviticus system provided a purification system. A leper who was
healed had to be purified. When a woman gave birth to a baby, she also needed to be purified. In
other cases, blood was sprinkled on the person, using a swab in order to meet the requirements of
the law. David wanted God to cleanse him to such a degree that he would not be tormented with
the tendency to sin. He saw his sin as a horrible leprosy, leprosy that separates one from

The Importance Of Freedom In America
Freedom meant multiple things for the people who had endured and survived enslavement in
America. Freedom meant education, being with family, church organizing, voting, and equal
rights as white people. Former slaves informed slave owners that their devotion and loyalty
never reflected their true feelings. As slavery ended families were able to reunite. Freedom also
meant land. Special field order #15 was issued on January 16, 1865 by General William T.
Sherman. A 30 mile tract of land was set aside by the military directive, this land was along the
Atlantic coast from Charleston, South Carolina, 245 miles south to Jacksonville, Florida.
Sherman reserved this land for black families as white owners just abandoned the land. The Port
Royal Experiment was an effort by northern white missionaries, educators, and businessmen in the
Sea Islands near Beaufort, South Carolina, to transform former slaves into educated, reliable and
industrious wage earners. Congress established the Bureau of Refugees, Freedman, and
Abandoned Lands in February 1865 to assist black and white Southerners left destitute by the
Civil War. The South Homestead Act was passed by Congress in 1866, this set aside over three
million acres of land for former slaves and loyal white Southerners to farm following the Civil War.
In 1866 bureau officials tried to force freedmen to sign labor contracts with white landowners. Black
men who refused to sign could be arrested. The most important institution among

Noah Compare And Contrast Essay
In this essay I will compare and contrast the movie Noah and the bible references of Noah in
Genesis 5 10. Sometimes when you read a book and then watch a movie about it, it s completely
different. But in the movie Noah and in the bible it basically follows his life the same, there aren t
really any differences. In the movie it describes about his life and his three sons Shem, Ham, and
Japheth. And in the bible it describes about his life and three sons.
Most importantly, in the movie Noah as young boy he witnesses his father Lamech get killed by
Tubal Cain. And years later as a young man Noah is living with his wife Naameh, and three sons
Shem, Ham, and Japheth. After witnessing a flower grow from the concrete and being haunted
by dreams of a flood, Noah takes time to visit his grandfather Methuselah. After meeting some
people that had recently died they find one survivor, so Noah and his wife decided to adopt her
a young girl named lla. Then Noah and his family are chased by Tubal Cain and his men seek
refuge with the fallen angels known as The Watchers . Methuselah gives Noah a seed from Eden

But in the bible it doesn t really go into detail about what happened with him before the great
flood . And his wife isn t really addresses her by her name Naameh. In the bible it continuously
says his wife rather than Naameh. In the bible it also explains how old Noah s grandfather
Methuselah was when he died which he was 969 years old when he died. And it also says that
Noah was 500 years old when he produced his three sons. In the bible in chapter 7 it explains how
god told Noah that he would cause it to rain for 40 days and 40 nights. It also says that Noah was
600 years old when he followed gods command and the flood waters began and he took his wife
and sons and his sons wives and went into the ark. Because of the flood

However, sports industry have been using a lot of natural resources to improve the number of
spectators or participations. There are a lot of examples of this problem. One of them is that the
1998 Nagano Olympic Committee infringed on environmentally sensitive place to expand the
men s downhill skill because of pressure from the International Olympic Committees and
Federation International de Ski. Many of these kinds of problems made some sport organization
realize that they have to implement environmental activities ( Casper, Pfahl, McCullough,
2017). Second of all, I will discuss about what go green mean. It is important for us to understand
why go green can be effective for environment. There are 3 meanings of go green. The first is
reducing influence on the environment with your everyday choice. You are using a lot of natural
resources from the earth by driving a car, taking shower, buying a bottle of water that have a bad
influence in the earth. All natural resources for using these things are taken from the earth to live.
However, these processes have damage on the environment, and you want to think how you can
use small amount of yours as possible you can. Therefore, this is one of the important aspect
within going green. Addition to using less, there is another aspect of going green, which is staying
locally. Staying local basically means to shop locally especially food. It is because industry faming

The United States has always a gun and hunting culture starting from the birth of the country itself.
The men who fought in the war of independence were citizens who owned their own muskets.
However the issue of gun control can be traced back to the Civil War, as new African American
citizens needed to protect themselves from their previous owners in the south that would often hunt
them down. The problematic of gun control have changed greatly due to the evolution of times.
From the late twentieth century until today, gun control has been highly debated because of
recurrent mass shootings, such as Columbine, such as Sandy Hook, such as Virginia Tech, such as
San Bernardino, and such as Roseburg just to name a few. Many have pleaded for thorough
background checks to prevent convicts or the mentally handicapped from owning guns, while
others argue that US citizens should follow in the steps of advanced European countries and no
longer possess these lethal weapons. Others who are often leaning to the right argue that this a
fundamental right that defines americanism and shapes American pride and historic culture.
However recurrent mass shootings are nothing to be proud of.
The second amendment of the Constitution guarantees the right of every American to bear arms.
Therefore many supporters of gun ownership have been using this right to

Comparing Wollstonecraft s Pride And Prejudice
The novel Pride and Prejudice was set during the late 1700 s and the early 1800 s. Jane Austen
wrote the novel based on the events that occurred around her. Historical conflicts during the
construction of the novel are present in the novel itself. While writing Pride and Prejudice, Jane
Austen was influenced by the war with France, the landed gentry, and marriage and gender roles
in her society which caused the plot, characters, and the outcome of the book. The war with
France stretched over twenty two years, and it affected every level of British society. A quarter of
a million men were serving in the regular army, a militia of officers and volunteers in the southeast

In her writing, Wollstonecraft argues that women should be treated with the same equals as men.
This was a conflicting transformation in women s roles that occurred within the century. Elizabeth
Bennet can be considered as an example and a supporter of the writing. Disinherited of her father s
property, Elizabeth is not financially independent, and depends upon advantageous marriage for her
future survival. Although throughout the novel she asserts her independence that reflects some of
Wollstonecraft s opinions and beliefs. An example would be when she rejected to be married
with Mr. Collins even though she was in need of the financial support, as he was the one who
was to inherit the family estate. However Miss Elizabeth Bennet s friend did the exact opposite
and married Mr. Collins because she was already a burden to her parents and was afraid that she
would never be asked to marry again. Elizabeth also stood up to Mr. Darcy when he was making
remarks about the country even though he was at a much higher social status than she was, and she

Restatement (Second) of Property: Landlord and Tenant provides that [a] landlord tenant

Restatement (Second) of Property: Landlord Tenant В§ 1.2 (1997) (emphasis added). Indeed: In

Contraceptives and Misconceptions Essay
Contraceptives and Misconceptions
There are many serious issues facing the U.S. today that require the rethinking of our problem
solving methods. In many situations, we may let our emotions interfere with our interpretations of
the facts. When a question of morals is involved, we often focus on what we want and not on what
we ve got. One of the most complicated and emotional issues today is the subject of making
contraceptives available to teenagers. Can it be that adult misconceptions are causing teenage
conceptions?
The statistics on teen sex are staggering. According to Mrs. Seth, spokesperson for Planned

If children don t have sex, they don t need protection. If they do have sex, pregnancy and sexually
transmitted diseases shouldn t be a price they have to pay for the attitudes of adults who don t
approve. Unfortunately, teenagers can and do have sex without parental approval. The truth
becomes apparent when a teen becomes a parent.
Parents try to be aware of what their children are doing; however, it is a misconception to think
that sexual activity can be controlled at all times. Our society, not biology, declares that teens are
not supposed to engage in sex. Teenagers are designed by nature to have sex, are possessed of all
the necessary equipment to do so, and have the mental capabilities to hide such behavior from
adults. The sex drive is not caused by teachers, contraceptives, or the media. Although well meant,
the notion that parental warnings can make sex less appealing is arrogant and foolish. Teenagers
are having sex without permission, and the goal must be to minimize the damage, not look for
someone to blame. As adults struggle with controlling the actions of their children, they should
protect them at the same time. If children are forbidden to have sex, it is unlikely that they will
discuss sexual problems with the very person who told them it is not permissible. There must be
options available to them, such as sex education

Therefore, we need to pay attention on procurementto prevent corruption. What is most important
in procurement is that it must be announced in a public newspaper. E procurement on the other

It is necessary to name the benefits and advantages of e procurement. The main benefit is to
engage public sector into helping provide governmental requirements. E informing as well as e
tendering and e auctioning bring greater transparency will by the publishing of notices and
contract electronically. The public can check and control the procurement process through official
websites (Novriyanto, 2008). As long as all the procedures are transparent enough, it makes all the
parties, either the government or the suppliers, be accountable based on activities they are doing,
corruption reduction happens as well. Since internet and communication technologies removed the
geographical restrictions, access to new suppliers are more available and thus marketplace is
competitive. Simplification of transaction processes makes ordering and approval faster One good
example in this area is Chile. In Chile, the ChileCompra e procurement system has been used to
allow government officials and citizens to compare the costs of bids to and services purchased by

CafГ© Morocco. The last time I visited this restaurant I was 5 years old. We were celebrating

And if so, why did they choose to keep it the same. Why did they think Baba s sign and image fit
theirs? The outside is simple, just a small restaurant and this sign. I walked in. First thing my eyes

The propaganda presented by Gilead is used to create a facade of benevolence and in the hope of
masking the reality of their distorted world. The most prominent example being the second news
segment which shows a close shot of a prisoner, with a stubbled and dirty face, flanked by two
Angels in their neat black uniforms (82). Even within the first image it is clear the rebels are to be
thought of as unhygienic whereas the Angels are clean and well put together, representing
someone to be proud of. Gilead choses this juxtaposition for two reasons, the first being for
viewers to associate a sense of disgust with the prisoners and their lifestyle. The second intention is
to further the idea that life within Gilead is much better than the life of the dirty prisoners.... Show

somewhat good if they treat rebels with sympathy despite the atrocious acts they have committed

Qfd3 Case Study
Qfd1 (labeled as Qbws1 on the chart) was found at River Mile 189.5 preserved between a Black
Ledge lava dam remnant and a basalt flow. The base of the deposit was 110m above the current
river level while the top of the deposit was 170 m above the current river level. The clasts were
92% basalt and had identical Rare earth element (REE) patterns, which indicated that they came
from the same lava dam source. The clasts ranged in size from hyaloclastite ash and lapilli to a 6
m diameter limestone boulder. Based on age and pattern of REE, Qfd1 deposits seemed to have
correlated with the dam produced by the Upper Prospect lava flows (Fenton et al. (2004)). While

It was composed primarily of gravels, basalts, and glass. The basalts and glasses in Qfd3 did not
seem to be related based on the La/Sm ratio while their Gd/Lu ratios were somewhat similar.
Qfd3 deposits were complicating in correlating to a specific dam to the fact that the presence of
extralocal river gravels and quartz in the lower parts of the deposition could indicate two
separate flooding events. One correlation is with the Whitmore Cascade because its La/Sm and
Gd/Lu was similar to the REE pattern of Qfd3 s boulders. Another idea is that the failure of the
Toroweap Dam could have emplaced the existing outburst flood deposit thus explaining the
presence of extralocal gravels. The hypothesis with the most consistent result is that the failure of
a lava dam near the Whitmore Cascade reworked the previous Qfd3 deposit and deposited
boulders and cobbles from the Whitmore Cascade on top of Qfd3 glasses. This hypothesis is
consistent with the REE chart thus this explanation is seen as a strong candidate. Qfd4 deposits

The Personification of an Educator Essay
The Personification of an Educator
In modern society, a high quality education is imperative to the well being of those within that
society. An essential part of a high quality education is the function of the teacher in the classroom.
How a teacher functions within a classroom determines how students learn, what students learn, and
how they apply that which they have learned. Therefore, because I am seeking a profession in the
field of education, I think I must consider the nature of students, the nature of knowledge, the value
of an education, the techniques that I will be using in my classroom, the curriculum, and my future
goals as an educator because by doing so I improve my abilities and performance as an educator. ...

It is my opinion that the overall purpose of education is to impart knowledge and to help develop
the powers of reasoning and judgment within society. Education is vital to everyone because
through education, individuals not only acquire knowledge of former principles, but individuals
learn to develop new ideas and concepts. An education is valuable because it provides an
opportunity to learn more about the past, the present, and it helps to contemplate thoughts of the
future. Also, an education is important because it provides an opportunity for us to understand each
other, the world around us, and it helps us to develop so that we might be able to function
adequately in our world. Through education, we learn to communicate with the world, formulate
ideas, and interpret.
Additionally, before becoming a teacher I must reflect upon the techniques I plan to use in my
classroom in order to effectively instruct my students. As a teacher, I plan to make a daily effort to
help make a difference in my students lives. I plan to take a very practical method in my
classroom, a pragmatic progressive approach. I plan to help educate my pupils through books,
observation, interaction, and experimentation. I not only want my students to develop reading,
writing and mathematic skills, but I also want them to develop an awareness of the world around
them. In my classroom, I want to provide my students an opportunity to observe, experiment, and

Financial institutions are looking for transactional security, airports for highly reliable verification

technology; a technology involving biometrics and Information Systems. Looking in depth at
biometrics and information systems, we will discuss the different forms used to counter long

measures will prevent fraud and make identification and banking transaction more secure. Finally,
we will provide recommendations about which biometric measure best suits the banking industry

Analysis Of The Movie Limitless, Limitless Is A Science...
Valentina ParAn Analysis of the Film Limitless
Limitless is a science fiction film, which was released on March 18, 2011. The movie, which
was directed by Neil Burger and produced by Leslie Dickson, Scott Troopf and Ryan Kavanaugh;
and the screenplay created by Leslie Dickson is based on the out of the ordinary novel by Alan
Glynns, The Dark Fields. Other than the stories collision of an anti drug morality tale and an anti
hubris morality tale, which is the aforementioned Faustian bargain, limitless is an inspiring example
of a film which spends so much time on connecting the necessary dots of various over worn genres
that it doesn t ultimately fit into any of them. It is a guide to our recognizable clichГ© on the
danger and power of intelligence, exposed of their darker, more stimulating insinuation that elicits
an aspect of advantage into the audiences.
The film is one of a kind based on the uniqueness and the interesting plot and manages to grab the
viewer s attention from the beginning of the film where the audience is given a taste of what the
rest of the movie will feel like from beginning to end. The film revolves around a New York writer
Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper) who has been shown to have quite a load of problems within his
career and private life as well.
Eddie runs into Vernon, his ex brother in law, in the streets who introduces him to the drug NZT.

Last year, around halfway through the year, I had very bad depression. I soon learned that Jim
Carrey also had bad depression at one point. This is when I started fighting depression. When I
stopped having suicidal thoughts. When I started having thoughts like Wait a second, he s not my

How Is Glass Used In The Glass Menagerie
Glass is an everyday object that serves a different purpose in each particular person s life. Its
uses range from decorations to something as common as a household mirror. Others use glass to
see more than just themselves; they use it to see the world. Additionally in the play, glass itself is
an everyday object with a deeper meaning; the glass animals themselves are symbols of the
uniqueness of individual people and Laura relies on them (like one would glasses) to cope with the
world around her. Spectacles take something nonsensical, and turn it into a clear picture; much like
how spectacles in the play, The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams
, clarifies the theme of
realism. The first way a spectacle is used to create realism is with dim lighting. The use of
lighting makes scenes more dramatic and can sometimes make it seem more real. Tom is the
narrator as well as a character in the play and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lighting is one special effect that creates a form of reality. In the play lighting is used to convey
the emotions of the characters so it can be easy to tell their mood. Just the same in real life,
bright colors can show happiness and even improve our moods. Music is another spectacle
Tennessee Williams uses. A lot of people can relate to music in their life and it can often be an
escape from our troubles as it was for Laura. Props, a final spectacle, provide symbolism as well
as another way for the characters to escape the reality the cannot face in their lives. Along with
being a prop, glass is an object that people use in different ways. Some cannot get through the day
without looking at themselves in a sheet of it, and others cannot see without it. Even insignificant
objects that some people take for granted, others rely on solely to be able to absorb the world around

Similarities Between Jones And Ernest Hemingway
Men are held to a standard of manliness, a standard that some men easily maintain and others seem
to have trouble achieving. Merriam Webster defines manliness as, the set of qualities considered
appropriate for or characteristic of men. What are those qualities and who is manly and who is not?
Both Ernest Hemmingway and Thom Jones have mutually divergent and analogous views on
regard to manliness in their short stories. Ernest Hemingway, as a person, is what many would call
the idealistic man. He was an extraordinarily talented fisherman. He was an accomplished boxer.
He was the winner of the bronze star as a war correspondent during World War II. Hemingway s
acts of bravery and manliness make him the epitome of manhood. This view of masculinity... Show

He never saw action because he was discharged before his unit left for Vietnam. Within Jones s
story, The Pugilist at Rest, he confronts the hardships of both cowardice and courageousness. We
find the narrator of the story has many things in common with the author such as a seizure
disorder stemming from a brain injury. The narrator begins his story describing the life of a
soldier in the barracks during training. They throw around demeaning terms like many men do,
they go on insulting each other and then the word faggot is used. Additionally, the narrator calls
some of the people who dropped out of the Marine boot camps physical test pussies. These terms
depict a male who is less than manly. Thus, this is an attack on manhood. The story progresses
we get an idea of Jorgeson, his views of manhood are slightly skewed from what Hemmingway
would call manliness. Jorgeson wants an artist loft and to wear a beret. He also wants to listen to
songs by The Little Sparrow, Edith Piaf. Later in the story, the narrator of The Pugilist at Rest
gets into his first fire fight with the N.V.A. In comparison to Hemingway s story, the narrator
seems to be timid under the pressure and end up running away. The narrator of The Pugilist at
Rest also compares himself to Davy Crockett who says he was cowering under the bed. He then
asks himself what courage and cowardice is. The

Make Your Own Flax Seed Hair Gel Using 8 Simple Steps Have you tried making your own all
natural hair styling gel right in your own kitchen? If you would like to know how I make my
own hair gel, this write up will give you a clear picture. Throughout my grow hair journey, I have
been having an adventurous and fun time exploring many natural ingredients to make hair recipes.
One of my favorite is this one flax seed hair gel recipe which my kids have a really good time
playing with as well! The things you will need are golden flax seeds, a small non stick pot, an
ankle stocking, a glass jar, a bowl, a regular coffee or beverage mug and distilled water. Here are the
steps: 1 Put the stocking over the glass jar like it is a strainer or sieve. You will pour the hot gel in

8 Lift the lump of flax seeds up. You may want to use a spoon to scrape off some of the gel into
the jar. Then just throw the whole lump of seeds away. Otherwise, if you are a fun loving mum
like me, you may put this lump into a bowl to let it cool. Then give this lump to your kids to
mess with my kids love this slimy stuff! For scent and moisturizer (optional), you may add stuff
like lavender essential oil, rosemary oil, honey, Aloe Vera gel or juice. Then mix well. All these
add on ingredients are really up to your personal tastes, hair texture, hair volume, hair length and
the occasion. You also need to avoid ingredients you or your skin are sensitive or allergic to.
Some people may add something like guar gum to give the gel more weight to define curly hair.
And some may also add preservative. Otherwise, this gel can be kept in small portions in the
freezer. Whenever you need, just take out one of the small portions, thaw it and it is good to go.
To apply, crunch the gel using your fingers and apply the gel to your hair. A wide tooth comb

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ( Ptsd ) Essay
This paper focuses on women who are survivors of child sexual abuse (CSA) and today struggle
with a complex set of symptoms known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). For pastors
who intend to provide help, an integrated multidimensional treatment plan flows from a thorough
assessment and accurate diagnosis. Discussed herein are three treatment options including
individual, group and cognitive processing therapy and the integration of a Christian perspective
regarding symptom mitigation to assist in gaining a better understanding of redemptive care.
Ashley is 60 years old. She is the middle child of three sisters. Ashley reported that when she was
growing up, her father abused her. She was also abused by her sister in the way she was setting up
situations for Ashley to be raped or beaten. Ashley has great feelings of betrayal toward her father,
mother, and sister. Her mother confessed to Ashely that she caught her husband when he was
sexually molesting her oldest daughter. Ashley is angry that her mother did not stop the abuse, and
she did not protect her and her sister. Ultimately, Ashley is angry that her mother was dependent on
her father, and she did not even consider separating from him. Ashley reported feelings of
entrapment, depression, anxiety, nightmares, intrusive thoughts, flashbacks and helplessness and
powerlessness as a child that led her to become preoccupied with remaining in control of situations
as an adult. (Karakurt Silver, 2014, p. 83)

Therefore, a current solution would unite the characteristics of the hydrogen internal combustion
engine, using for improving the burning efficiency, due to high flame speed and higher calorific
value during combustion of hydrogen. One of the best utilization alternatives of this clean energy,
existing in the hydrogen, would be through the process of electrolysis of water as it is a relatively
simple process without generated solid, liquid or gas waste which would be harmful to the
environment. Furthermore it helps in the reducing of the consumption of fossil fuels. According to
Al Rousan (2010), the HHO gas produced in the electrolytic reactor, can be injected into internal
combustion engines, along with the original fuel engine improves engine efficiency and
consequently reduces power consumption of the fossil fuel.

The Theory Of Caring For Someone Is More Than Just Saying...
Theory of Caring Caring for someone is more than just saying the words that you care. It is about
putting actions into play and showing that someone you care for them. Nurses must care for
patients through every shift and be knowledge able about the care that is best suited for that
particular person. Kristen Swanson developed the Theory of Caring in order to explain what is
means exactly to provide care to patients in a nursing manner. Swanson defines caring as a nurturing
way of relating to a valued other toward whom one feels a personal sense of commitment and
responsibility (Masters, 2016, p. 76). Nurses must gain a relationship of trust between them and
their patient s so that they can communicate and provide the best care they can for their patient.
Birgitta Andershed and Kristina Olsson acknowledged that Swanson developed five caring
processes for a caring relationship that include: knowing, being with, doing for, enabling, and
maintaining belief (Andershed, Olsson, 2009). Andershed and Olsson stated that Swanson believed
that knowing is the starting point for understanding and gaining that trusting relationship with the
patient about their particular situation. Listening and looking for cues in the patient will help
determine the care needed for the patient as well as prevent any errors from occurring. Humans do
not like being in a state that puts them in a position that they cannot take care of themselves,
therefore, it is important for nurses to be able to be

The fact that companies who carry out these processes do not contain tanks where the water store

Implications Of Plato s Censorship Of Poetry In The Republic
In the Republic, Plato proposes the complete censorship of imitative poetry from his ideal city,
arguing that it corrupts individuals souls and therefore has a negative effect on society, resulting in
injustice within the city. Although seemingly trivial at first, when considered within its proper
context, the censorship of imitative poetry from the city would result in severe consequences.
Throughout this essay I will discuss the political and psychological implications of its censorship,
and will also refute Plato s argument, showing how it lacks soundness: notably, through a
criticism of his epistemology. Regarding the political implications of the censorship of poetry, I
will draw from the ideas of Karl Popper, who argued Plato to be one of the most influential
philosophers on the emergence of totalitarian regimes in the 20th century, laying the foundations for
their very existence (K. Popper, 1945). I will also show how poets themselves have an important
political role within cities, in that they enable the general population to hold the state accountable
for their actions. To discuss the psychological implications of poetry s censorship, I will compare
the contrasting views of Plato and Aristotleregarding its effect on the soul, whereby Aristotle claims
that poetry actually has beneficial, cathartic effects. Following these criticisms, it will become
apparent that Plato s proposed ban of imitative poetry is indefensible.
Firstly, to fully understand Plato s proposal

The information in the video was of a quality , the language and style of the presentation was also

consider self awareness, pay attention for feedback and encourage response. This was demonstrated
clearly in the video. Music is the most influential intercession for the delivery of information to
people with dementia once the brain is damaged and they lose their verbal communication (Carson,

The Role Of Celebrities And Youth Exist
The idea of having a role model is something society loves to champion. Kids should have role
models, and adults should strive to be worthy of such a duty. Kids that don t grow up with
strong role models and mentors are almost expected to fail; without footsteps to follow exactly,
kids are incapable of, or at least unlikely to, achieve anything worth of substance. In the same
breath, people advocating the importance of role models condemn the expansion of celebrity in
today s society, claiming that they influence youth poorly and don t set a good example for
younger generations. But celebrities are the very people that young children are most likely to
use as role models. So, how and why does this relationship between celebrities and youth exist?
The reality of the world we live in is that kids love celebrities. The rich and famous are of a
similar status of an older sibling s friends: just out of reach, and untouchably cool. The mystique of
celebrities is part of the allure, but with the media ever expanding, kids are lured even further in by
the more intimate details available thanks to social media. Kids don t just love celebrities,
celebrities love kids. That is, when the kids are making the celebrities money. Whether donning
their clothing line, buying their concert tickets, or adding their shoes to Christmas lists, kids are a
revenue stream for celebrities. The famed have no problem with children when they are
commodities, yet this situation is complicated when

The s Argument For The Free Will
Free will is something which all human s posses. However, if God has knowledge of all the
decisions we will ever make how can free will exist? Boethius confronts this question with his
consolation of philosophy. He answers it by his definition of eternity and how it pertains to human
s free will. During this paper I will analyze Boethius s argument as to why we retain our free will
based upon his definition of eternity. Boethius says that Godhas the ability of foreknowledge and
knows all things past, present, and futurebecause of his eternity. Foreknowledge is defined by
Boethius as the ability of God to foresee things in the future. According to Boethius once God
foresees things through foreknowledge they are thus necessary to... Show more content on

Through this eternality and living in a moment that never passes our free will is not affected. If
God does knew things of the future based on the necessity that they must occur. Then this would
indeed alter the idea that humans have free will because if something is to occur out of necessity,
then that thing was no longer chosen out of free will, but was chosen because it was a necessary
action. Therefore, God s knowledge of things that occur in the future is not based upon necessity,
but rather knowledge based upon truth. All things that occur are thus done not out of necessity,
but are done through the free will of its agent. Through this ability that God possesses to view all
things in his present it would appear that all things then are, through the divine eye, out of
necessity. No matter if you change your actions or your purpose God will still have foreknowledge
of the events to come because man cannot change the divine knowledge. Since God is eternal and
exists outside of time and through his abilities, we retain our free will, however God already
knows what we have done or chosen before we have done these things. All things we do therefore
are done through a free will however are seen as a necessity through providence to happen. Even
though through the definition of eternity God already has knowledge of what is to come and what
decisions

The Important Beliefs Celebrated at Easter and How They are Celebrated
Easter Sunday comes at the end of holy week which consists of many days which have a
significant meaning. The six weeks leading up to easter is called lent and this is celebrated by
many people giving up one of their luxuries, for example, chocolates and sweets. They do this
because they are remembering when jesus was in the desert and was tempted by the devil and
how jesus rejected his offer. During the time of lent, comes a day called ash Wednesday which
certain churches have the ceremony of putting ash on to the foreheads of people as a symbol of
receieving forgiveness.

Good Friday remembers how jesus was crucified which is a serious and sombre occasion. It is
called Good Friday because people remember how jesus sacrificed his own life to save mankind.
The anglican, Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches are stripped of all colourful decorations,
crosses, candles and hangings. This is to remind the worshipers of the fact that jesus felt
deserted and desolate on the cross. On Good Friday, when people attend the church, the story of
The Passion is read, and in some churches the priest will enveil a crucifix and say this is the
wood of the cross on which the saviour of the world died. The people will then walk up to the
alter to kiss the feet of the carved christ as a mark of respect. Free churches will not have the
same ritual, but they will have a service in which the Passion story is read and thanks will be
given to Jesus for going on the cross and saving humanity from their sins.
Easter Saturday is when Roman Catholic, Orthodox and many Anglican churches keep an easter
vigil on the Saturday evening. The congregation gather outside the church where a bonfire is
burning. A large candle is brought out, called the Paschal candle. It has a cross on it and the greek
letters alpha and omega. The priest places five

The Effect Of Substrate Concentration On The Activity Of The Enzyme Catalase
A Level Biology Project
Aims
This is an experiment to examine how the concentration of the substrate hydrogen peroxide affects
the rate of reaction of the enzyme catalase.
Background Information
Enzymes such as Catalase are protein molecules which are found in living cells. They are used to
speed up specific reactions in the cells. They are all very specific as each enzyme just performs one
particular reaction.
Catalase is an enzyme found in food such as potato and liver. It is used for removing Hydrogen
Peroxide from the cells. Hydrogen Peroxide is the poisonous by product of metabolism. Catalase
speeds up the decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide into water ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
To ensure this is a fair test all the variables except for the concentration of Hydrogen Peroxide must
be kept the same for all the experiments. Variables that must not be altered include:
Temperature, yeast concentration, type of yeast, batch of yeast, volume of yeast, volume of
hydrogen peroxide, air pressure and humidity.
When measuring the volumes of Hydrogen Peroxide, Yeast and Water the measurement should be
taken by looking at the scale at an angle of 90 degrees to it to avoid any parallax error.
Predictions
I predict that as the substrate concentration increases, the rate of reaction will go up at a directly
proportional rate until the solution becomes saturated with the substrate hydrogen peroxide. When
this saturation point is reached, then adding extra substrate will make no difference.
The rate steadily increases when more substrate is added because more of the active sites of the
enzyme are being used which results in more reactions so the required amount of oxygen is made
more quickly. Once the amount of substrate molecules added exceeds the number of active sites
available then the rate of reaction will no longer go up. This is because the maximum number of
reactions are being done at once so any extra substrate molecules have to wait until some of the
active sites

  • 2. Cavalry Vs Roman Military Tactics In the Ancient world cavalry wasn t used for the most part. However, there were some exceptions such as the Macedonians. However, in the later years of the Roman Empire cavalry started to become more important for frontier defense because it allowed for increased mobility. Also, romans used cavalryfor the rapid concentration of forces to close the gap between legions. After 250 AD, cavalry was even more predominant in the roman army. • 3. Artler s Journey Once upon a time, there was a carbon atom named Artler. This carbon atom started his journey as hard wood in a pinyon tree. He stayed here for millions and millions of years. Eventually, Artler was buried in a landslide. This eventually turned him into an atom of carbon in coal. He now carries on with his adventure in the lithosphere of fossil fuels. Artler is now living his life happily as a piece of coalin the lithosphere. He has been here for millions of years once again, just like with the pinyon tree. As a piece of coal, Artler was burned in a stove to warm a nice happy family. Now, Artler is becoming carbonin the form of CO2. Finally, he will lie in the atmosphere all by himself. Artler is not just any limestone, for he is Kaibab Limestone. He remains here for millions of years. However, sadly, he is mined in order to make cement. During this process, CO2 is released into the atmosphere. Once more, Artler is sent up into the atmosphere. Artler is in the atmosphere for one last final time. He remains here for about 62 years as CO2. He is finally absorbed by a plant once more. Here, he becomes part of the plant through photosynthesis. Documenting each step in the assignment will demonstrate how to use the awk and sed commands to display different sets of data from and file based on the commands used. The sedcommand will also be used to change the data within the test file. These steps will be discussed and illustrated with screenshots in the following paper. awk and sed After opening the shell prompt and logging in as the root user which is demonstrated in the first two screenshots below, the next involved checking the current directory location in the shell prompt. As seen from the second screenshot, the current directory is the /home/user directory which is the home directory for the user created in the test installation of Linux I am using. Step three in the assignment involves using the man command to view the documentation for the awk and sed commands. • 6. Edith Wharton s The House of Mirth Essay Edith Wharton s The House of Mirth Edith Wharton s The House of Mirth serves as a strict model of etiquette for high society in the Gilded Age. It teaches one the intricate art of keeping up appearances and assimilating into the fickle leisure class. At the same time, the novel s underlying purpose is to subtly critique this social order. Lily Bart s perpetual, although often reluctant quest for financial stability and mass approval is a vehicle for demonstrating the numerous absurdities and constant pretensions of a class that revolved around money and opinion. Lily Bart embodies the enormous tension between old and new money that was so prevalent during the 1880 s. Since birth, she was fated to be in the middle of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hudson Bart had appeared young; but Lily could not recall the time when her father had not been bald and slightly stooping, with streaks of grey in his hair, and a tired walk. It was a shock to her to learn afterward that he was but two years older than her mother. Wharton hints at the toll of the constant anxiety of falling from luxury, Lily could not recall the time when there had been money enough, and in some vague way her father seemed always to blame for the deficiency. She offers a hidden opinion that obsessing about money leaves one no time to enjoy life, It seemed to tire him to rest... Ultimately, Mr. Bart died when he went bankrupt, which symbolizes high society s materialistic view that a man is only useful and valued if he has a fat wallet. Individuals lived by the idea that happiness could be bought, while unwittingly causing their own demise. Wharton also implies that high society s symbols of luxury can often be harmful when Lily becomes addicted to tea. Wharton critiques society s willingness to go to any extent for the sake of appearing prominent, Lily was naturally proud of her mother s aptitude in this line: she had been brought up in the faith that, whatever it cost, one must have a good cook, and be what Mrs. Bart called decently dressed. The characters are living a constant lie, and the fear that anyone outside the immediate family can be privy to one s true financial position is evident when Mrs. Bart is reluctant to ... This includes the role of the government in regulating the economical performance of a country. It also explains the different features and tools of monetary and fiscal policy and their performance when applied to the third world countries with a huge informal sector. Monetary Policy Monetary policy is the mechanism of a country s monetary authority (usually the central bank) taking up measures to regulate the supply of money and the rates of interest. It involves controlling money in the economy to promote economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This involves buying or selling financial instruments like bonds in exchange of money to be deposited with the central bank. By selling the financial instruments, the central bank mops up the cash in circulation. On the other hand, selling injects money thus increasing the supply of money (Bernanke 2006). Interest rates By increasing or reducing the nominal interest rates, the money supply is either increased or reduced. When the rate goes up, people are not able to borrow, thus the money does not enter into circulation. But when the rates go down, people borrow in big numbers therefore increasing the money supply. So the monetary authority just needs to adjust the interest rates either upwards or downwards, and in direct results will be reflected on the money on circulation. Discount window lending This is the situation where the commercial banks and other lending institutions borrow from the central bank at lower interest rates compared to how they will lend. This gives the institution a chance to vary credit conditions depending on the central bank lending rates. If the central bank raises its lending rates, then the other lending institutions will have to raise their rates too, thus discouraging the public from borrowing. But if the central bank lowers its rate, then commercial banks and other institutions will be forced to lower their rates too. This will encourage the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay Military Bearing In the United States NAVY, military bearing is the root in which every service member practices in order to carry out good discipline and ethics throughout ones military careers. The Eleven General Orders of a Sentry, The Articles of the UCMJ, as well as our own Sailors Creed illustrates how a military service member should conduct himself or herself on a daily basis, on and off duty. Dependability is a major aspect of military bearing. Without dependability, one can neither perform properly in the workspace nor be depended upon by their coworkers, or chain of command to carry out their military duties adequately. Respecting senior officers is imperative in order to maintain good military order up and down the chain of command. Punctuality is a key aspect of ones NAVY career. Tardiness can affect the mission of the command. In such an event as General Quarte! rs, one can not afford to be late in carrying out their assigned tasks, for the repercussions can be life threatening to ones fellow shipmates, as well as to the integrity of the ship. Being late to watch can affect the quality of work being done in the work environment. Quarters is a vital necessity within our NAVY where ones chain of command can brief all hands on new information concerning either the workspaces or ones specific job. Watch standing is every sailor s duty. Without a proper and thorough turnover it hinders the effectiveness of the watch station. Missing information during turnover can result in wasted man hours, equipment damage, or can compromise the security of the command in which one works. Physical readiness standards are another element of military bearing. Physical readiness standards or better known as PRT s are held every six months for NAVY personnel. • 11. The Empire Of Shaka Zulu Empire The Empire of Shaka Zulu Sources are scarce on the Zulu Empire and Shaka s reign of it; there s only word of mouth stories to go by, in addition to the pieces historians and anthropologists have been putting together for a long time. What they do know, though, was that Shaka was born illegitimate to the royal family of a minor tribe in South Africa. He was passed on to two other tribes, learning the martial art of their time. He was able to show his strength in advanced combat tactics, in a time where people were mostly pastoral. Through his rise and conquest, Shaka was able to change the culture of the people he conquered and left behind, and was part of a series of events that ultimately transformed the Zulu empire entirely. After living with the Elangeni with his mother for a while, Shaka moved to live and train with the Mtethwa people, where he was able to show off his combat and warfare prowess, first as a warrior, then as a leader of a regiment. Warfare at this time was ritual, or to settle disputes, where tribes were invited to fight, and were mostly unorganized, using long spears and insults, with no close combat. He brought in new tactics and styles, in addition to the new, shorter spears he equipped his army with. After assassinating his older, legitimate heir brother, Shaka took control of the tribe he was born into. A few years later, the person who was his mentor and who he continued to serve under, was murdered. This set off the twenty five years long ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper will review the ANA s 1965 position on entry into the nursing practice, the current discussions on entry and advancements in the nursing profession, and the current challenges in nursing education. American Nurses Associations 1965 position In 1963, the U.S. Surgeon General s Consultant Group on Nursing identified a nationwide nursing shortage. This led to the Comprehensive Nurse Training Act of 1964 that created nurse education and training programs and also supplied grant funds for student loans, nursing school, and education grants (Smith, 2009). A year later the Comprehensive Nurse Training Act led to the American Nurses Association Committee on Education to look at nursing education, practice, scope, and responsibilities. While looking into nursing education, concerns were raised about hospital based diploma programs and the increasing complexity of healthcare. As a result, the American Nurses Association s (ANA) released their 1965 position paper on entry into nursing practice. In their 1965 position paper the ANA recommended three things they ... • 13. Bioethical And Political Issues Essay Identifying Bioethical and Political Issues Scenario 1: You are the healthcare administrator of a nursing home. You are informed by your Admissions Director that a new memory impaired resident has been admitted into your long term care unit. The staff is concerned about the involvement of family with your resident. Family members from out of town arrived and expressed concern about your resident s do not resuscitate (DNR) orders which were authorized by the Power of Attorney of another family member. A quarrel erupts in the nursing home with family members voicing their opinions loudly. You arrive on the scene and are immediately told by the visiting family member, Do you know who I am? I am a supervisor for the Department of Health and Human Services and will not hesitate to have your facility surveyed for noncompliance. What do you do? Any situation that erupts which can disturb the other residents is something that must be diffused immediately, as a healthcare administrator I would have to address this state of affairs with empathy and genuine concern for the opinions of the family members not in agreement with the do not resuscitate (DNR) order. First, I would ask that we move to a private location where we could speak and if voices are elevated it would not interfere with the day to day operation of the nursing home. Second, I would ask to see the Power of Attorney if it is available to speak to the legality of the document. Provided that, all the previous terms set in place are up to par, I would directly talk about the statement made about the family member making me aware of her position with the Department of Health and Human Services. Moreover, going through the document to point out the date signed, to make note if the new resident signed it before here memory was too far gone and if the Power of Attorney would not be substantial. Then I d call attention to the difference between a Power of Attorney and Durable Power of Attorney. Grammarly states, The biggest difference is in when the power ends. Lazarus HIS 102 W1: Western Civilization II 10/25/2017 Machiavelli The Father of Modern Political Thought There are many reasons why Machiavelli is widely considered the beginner of modern political thought, one of the many is he studied strictly the politicians, and businessmen. Machiavelli recognized the political playing field as a vile place only for the most dominating and cunning of political giants. One of Machiavelli s most famous work, On Principalities, or known by the other title, The Prince, absolutely announced a break with previous political beliefs secured between moral and religion system, it examines the nature of his views on power that are still somewhat in existent today. Machiavelli discusses in this work power over the people, oppressive power, and shared power. Machiavelli discusses two specific groups of people such as the political elite and the general public within this work. While Machiavelli highlighted power over in relations between the political elite, he examines a different kind of power in the affiliation between a prince and his public. Machiavelli noted that he can share his power with his people, since he can trust his people more than he can the nobles. The nobles cannot be satisfied if their ruler acts honorably, because their desires are more ethical than the nobles are. The people are more forgiving and less greedy so he can place more trust in his people and empower his trusting public. Though the public may be more trustworthy Machiavelli also stated that a prince needed to be harsh in the treatment of both the mixed sectors and the new sectors to avoid rebellions, the prince must be harsh and cautious. It is easier for a prince to hold control after he has already stopped a rebellion by empowering his power. Once the prince takes control of the city, he cannot forget it, for his control can be easily lost. Without order within his own court let alone his public, the prince would soon fall and possible lose his control over everything. More or less how the prince started at the bottom and slowly made his way to becoming a great king or he died at the feet of his people or someone of higher power before reaching ... • 16. Grass Root Innovation Essay This research aims at bridging important gaps in the way one conceptualizes the evolution of innovations in the informal sector, by means of formally untrained minds, that have the potential for Grass Root Innovations (GRIs). It also addresses important gaps in meeting needs of disadvantaged communities, which formal systems like Science and Technology (S T) have not been able to address so far, in a manner that is cost effective and affordable. While GRIs cannot provide solutions to all problems, they can indeed provide solutions for some of them. The conceptual basis, or the heuristics, underlying these innovations, can sometimes extend the frontiers of science, or improve efficiency in larger mainstream technological systems, in addition to meeting the local needs. But, incentives for developing technologies, which will have limited diffusion because of socio ecological conditions, are difficult to institutionalize. The result being that such niches remain unserved. However, if difficult regions, with poor market and bureaucratic infrastructure, have to remain outside developmental impulses, then social harmony is unlikely to be maintained. The Role of Inhibitory Modulation of Languages among Bilinguals In a rich linguistic environment, where more than 7000 languages are spoken in 149 countries, multilingualism and bilingualism are inevitable (Crystal, 2003; Grosjean, 2010). While the causes of increased bilingualism and multilingualism can vary, the repercussions of this demographic shift are wide reaching (O Brien, Curtin, Naqvi, 2014). Consequently, research on bilingualism and multilingualism has also dramatically increased in the last few years in quantity, quality and breadth (Bhatia William, 2013). In the past two decades, series of discoveries has changed the way bilingualism was understood (Kroll, Bobb, Hoshino, 2014). The consequences of bilingualism are not limited to native and second language but appear to reflect reorganization of brain networks that hold implications for the ways in which bilinguals negotiate cognitive competition more generally. The bilingual experience for every individual is unique as it depends upon the context, linguistic proficiency, and purpose. There is also a great variability in the amount and quality of exposure to the languages that the individual learns. Due to this capriciousness in bilingual characteristics, defining bilingualism becomes problematic and raises number of theoretical and methodological concerns (Hamers Blanc, 2000). David was truly sorry for his adultery with Bathsheba and the murdering of her husband to cover this sin. He knew his actions had harmed many people. Nevertheless, he repented and asked God to forgive him. He knew that there was no one to turn to and that only God was merciful enough to give him what he did not received, which was life instead of death. On one hand, the intention is not to go into details of the sin of David. Freedom meant education, being with family, church organizing, voting, and equal rights as white people. Former slaves informed slave owners that their devotion and loyalty never reflected their true feelings. As slavery ended families were able to reunite. Freedom also meant land. Special field order #15 was issued on January 16, 1865 by General William T. Sherman. A 30 mile tract of land was set aside by the military directive, this land was along the Atlantic coast from Charleston, South Carolina, 245 miles south to Jacksonville, Florida. Sherman reserved this land for black families as white owners just abandoned the land. The Port Royal Experiment was an effort by northern white missionaries, educators, and businessmen in the Sea Islands near Beaufort, South Carolina, to transform former slaves into educated, reliable and industrious wage earners. Congress established the Bureau of Refugees, Freedman, and Abandoned Lands in February 1865 to assist black and white Southerners left destitute by the Civil War. The South Homestead Act was passed by Congress in 1866, this set aside over three million acres of land for former slaves and loyal white Southerners to farm following the Civil War. If they do have sex, pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases shouldn t be a price they have to pay for the attitudes of adults who don t approve. Unfortunately, teenagers can and do have sex without parental approval. The truth becomes apparent when a teen becomes a parent. Parents try to be aware of what their children are doing; however, it is a misconception to think that sexual activity can be controlled at all times. Our society, not biology, declares that teens are not supposed to engage in sex. Teenagers are designed by nature to have sex, are possessed of all the necessary equipment to do so, and have the mental capabilities to hide such behavior from adults. The sex drive is not caused by teachers, contraceptives, or the media. Although well meant, the notion that parental warnings can make sex less appealing is arrogant and foolish. Teenagers are having sex without permission, and the goal must be to minimize the damage, not look for someone to blame. We were celebrating Eid, an Islamic holiday that we celebrate at the end of our most holy month, Ramadan. Baba (father in Arabic) invited all of our family and friends to celebrate. This would be the last time he would invite people to his restaurant. This was his last day owning CafГ© Morocco. CafГ© Morocco is a Mediterranean restaurant, here in Downtown Sacramento. The most prominent example being the second news segment which shows a close shot of a prisoner, with a stubbled and dirty face, flanked by two Angels in their neat black uniforms (82). Even within the first image it is clear the rebels are to be thought of as unhygienic whereas the Angels are clean and well put together, representing someone to be proud of. Gilead choses this juxtaposition for two reasons, the first being for viewers to associate a sense of disgust with the prisoners and their lifestyle. The second intention is to further the idea that life within Gilead is much better than the life of the dirty prisoners.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gilead choses this scene assuming that viewers will see the prisoner s acceptance of the cigarette as a show of submission as if the prisoners are being saved from themselves and their way of life. Furthermore, this displays the Angels as kind and generous due to them treating the prisoner as if he was a child who knew no better. This leaves the viewers believing Gilead must be somewhat good if they treat rebels with sympathy despite the atrocious acts they have committed against their citizens. • 34. Qfd3 Case Study Qfd1 (labeled as Qbws1 on the chart) was found at River Mile 189.5 preserved between a Black Ledge lava dam remnant and a basalt flow. The base of the deposit was 110m above the current river level while the top of the deposit was 170 m above the current river level. The clasts were 92% basalt and had identical Rare earth element (REE) patterns, which indicated that they came from the same lava dam source. The clasts ranged in size from hyaloclastite ash and lapilli to a 6 m diameter limestone boulder. Based on age and pattern of REE, Qfd1 deposits seemed to have correlated with the dam produced by the Upper Prospect lava flows (Fenton et al. (2004)). The basalts and glasses in Qfd3 did not seem to be related based on the La/Sm ratio while their Gd/Lu ratios were somewhat similar. Qfd3 deposits were complicating in correlating to a specific dam to the fact that the presence of extralocal river gravels and quartz in the lower parts of the deposition could indicate two separate flooding events. One correlation is with the Whitmore Cascade because its La/Sm and Gd/Lu was similar to the REE pattern of Qfd3 s boulders. Another idea is that the failure of the Toroweap Dam could have emplaced the existing outburst flood deposit thus explaining the presence of extralocal gravels. The hypothesis with the most consistent result is that the failure of a lava dam near the Whitmore Cascade reworked the previous Qfd3 deposit and deposited boulders and cobbles from the Whitmore Cascade on top of Qfd3 glasses. I soon learned that Jim Carrey also had bad depression at one point. This is when I started fighting depression. When I stopped having suicidal thoughts. When I started having thoughts like Wait a second, he s not my friend! I m just one of his cronies! That thought had a few... bad names in it, but were removed due to them being rude. After I had that thought I decided to completely ignore them. But they had strengths in numbers He, being the most popular kid in school, had as many friends as you could count. There was Jawn, my best friend since kinder, Jonty, who up until that point I had never been friends with, Darcy, who was much taller than me and hated him with a burning passion, and Bradley, who was like an undercover spy, spying on what they said about us. Ernest Hemingway, as a person, is what many would call the idealistic man. He was an extraordinarily talented fisherman. He was an accomplished boxer. It is about putting actions into play and showing that someone you care for them. Nurses must care for patients through every shift and be knowledge able about the care that is best suited for that particular person. Kristen Swanson developed the Theory of Caring in order to explain what is means exactly to provide care to patients in a nursing manner. Swanson defines caring as a nurturing way of relating to a valued other toward whom one feels a personal sense of commitment and responsibility (Masters, 2016, p. 76). Nurses must gain a relationship of trust between them and their patient s so that they can communicate and provide the best care they can for their patient. Birgitta Andershed and Kristina Olsson acknowledged that Swanson developed five caring processes for a caring relationship that include: knowing, being with, doing for, enabling, and maintaining belief (Andershed, Olsson, 2009). Andershed and Olsson stated that Swanson believed that knowing is the starting point for understanding and gaining that trusting relationship with the patient about their particular situation. Implications Of Plato s Censorship Of Poetry In The Republic In the Republic, Plato proposes the complete censorship of imitative poetry from his ideal city, arguing that it corrupts individuals souls and therefore has a negative effect on society, resulting in injustice within the city. Although seemingly trivial at first, when considered within its proper context, the censorship of imitative poetry from the city would result in severe consequences. Throughout this essay I will discuss the political and psychological implications of its censorship, and will also refute Plato s argument, showing how it lacks soundness: notably, through a criticism of his epistemology. Regarding the political implications of the censorship of poetry, I will draw from the ideas of Karl Popper, who argued Plato to be one of the most influential philosophers on the emergence of totalitarian regimes in the 20th century, laying the foundations for their very existence (K. Popper, 1945). I will also show how poets themselves have an important political role within cities, in that they enable the general population to hold the state accountable for their actions. To discuss the psychological implications of poetry s censorship, I will compare the contrasting views of Plato and Aristotleregarding its effect on the soul, whereby Aristotle claims that poetry actually has beneficial, cathartic effects. Boethius says that Godhas the ability of foreknowledge and knows all things past, present, and futurebecause of his eternity. Foreknowledge is defined by Boethius as the ability of God to foresee things in the future. According to Boethius once God foresees things through foreknowledge they are thus necessary to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through this eternality and living in a moment that never passes our free will is not affected. If God does knew things of the future based on the necessity that they must occur. Then this would indeed alter the idea that humans have free will because if something is to occur out of necessity, then that thing was no longer chosen out of free will, but was chosen because it was a necessary action. Therefore, God s knowledge of things that occur in the future is not based upon necessity, but rather knowledge based upon truth. All things that occur are thus done not out of necessity, but are done through the free will of its agent. Through this ability that God possesses to view all things in his present it would appear that all things then are, through the divine eye, out of necessity. No matter if you change your actions or your purpose God will still have foreknowledge of the events to come because man cannot change the divine knowledge. Since God is eternal and exists outside of time and through his abilities, we retain our free will, however God already knows what we have done or chosen before we have done these things. All things we do therefore are done through a free will however are seen as a necessity through providence to happen. Even though through the definition of eternity God already has knowledge of what is to come and what decisions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Important Beliefs Celebrated at Easter and How They are Celebrated Easter Sunday comes at the end of holy week which consists of many days which have a significant meaning. The six weeks leading up to easter is called lent and this is celebrated by many people giving up one of their luxuries, for example, chocolates and sweets. They do this because they are remembering when jesus was in the desert and was tempted by the devil and how jesus rejected his offer. During the time of lent, comes a day called ash Wednesday which certain churches have the ceremony of putting ash on to the foreheads of people as a symbol of receieving forgiveness. Holy week begins with Palm Sunday, and this remembers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Good Friday remembers how jesus was crucified which is a serious and sombre occasion. It is called Good Friday because people remember how jesus sacrificed his own life to save mankind. The anglican, Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches are stripped of all colourful decorations, crosses, candles and hangings. This is to remind the worshipers of the fact that jesus felt deserted and desolate on the cross. On Good Friday, when people attend the church, the story of The Passion is read, and in some churches the priest will enveil a crucifix and say this is the wood of the cross on which the saviour of the world died. The people will then walk up to the alter to kiss the feet of the carved christ as a mark of respect. Free churches will not have the same ritual, but they will have a service in which the Passion story is read and thanks will be given to Jesus for going on the cross and saving humanity from their sins. Easter Saturday is when Roman Catholic, Orthodox and many Anglican churches keep an easter vigil on the Saturday evening. The congregation gather outside the church where a bonfire is burning. A large candle is brought out, called the Paschal candle. It has a cross on it and the greek letters alpha and omega. The priest places five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Effect Of Substrate Concentration On The Activity Of The Enzyme Catalase A Level Biology Project Aims This is an experiment to examine how the concentration of the substrate hydrogen peroxide affects the rate of reaction of the enzyme catalase. Background Information Enzymes such as Catalase are protein molecules which are found in living cells. They are used to speed up specific reactions in the cells. They are all very specific as each enzyme just performs one particular reaction. Catalase is an enzyme found in food such as potato and liver. It is used for removing Hydrogen Peroxide from the cells. Hydrogen Peroxide is the poisonous by product of metabolism. Catalase speeds up the decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide into water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To ensure this is a fair test all the variables except for the concentration of Hydrogen Peroxide must be kept the same for all the experiments. Variables that must not be altered include: Temperature, yeast concentration, type of yeast, batch of yeast, volume of yeast, volume of hydrogen peroxide, air pressure and humidity. When measuring the volumes of Hydrogen Peroxide, Yeast and Water the measurement should be taken by looking at the scale at an angle of 90 degrees to it to avoid any parallax error. Predictions I predict that as the substrate concentration increases, the rate of reaction will go up at a directly proportional rate until the solution becomes saturated with the substrate hydrogen peroxide. When this saturation point is reached, then adding extra substrate will make no difference. The rate steadily increases when more substrate is added because more of the active sites of the enzyme are being used which results in more reactions so the required amount of oxygen is made more quickly. Once the amount of substrate molecules added exceeds the number of active sites available then the rate of reaction will no longer go up. This is because the maximum number of reactions are being done at once so any extra substrate molecules have to wait until some of the active sites ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
