economics, and in having opportunities to have greater positions in the world. In addition
women are facing a huge issue regarding economic and political empowerment all over the

1.) Astor was an extremely greedy and selfish individual who took advantage of the indigenous
culture the Native Americans. Astor saw the potential of the fur industry. He was a man who
came from a culture that already knew how to initiate business. His previous knowledge of
business and the Native American s ignorance allowed him to become very successful. His
motives only displayed his self interest and possessed no regards for the Native Americans. His
motives were clear and the ethics behind his motives were even clearer. Astor had no ethics behind

Family Reunion Forms Teams At A Young Age
Schools, organizations, and even family reunion forms teams. Children are taught at a young
age to be team players and many parents engage their children in sports activity to learn this
skill. Even children shows through the years consist of teams from Ninja Turtles, Avengers to
the old school children shows such as Scooby Doo and Super Friends. These children shows
typically provide kids lessons and hidden messages about team work and their victory against the
villains. Organizations may not necessarily have to battle villains in order to be successful, but
they do have obstacles to overcome to be able to work together. It is also important to have an
initial understanding of the types of issues that a team face that prevents them from performing as
a cohesive group. It starts with identifying the organizational vision, its goals before leaders
identify the right employees for the job. Recruiting, attracting and retaining the right players may
pose a challenge of its own; however, all can be done with the right planning. Socializing the team
through the right team building activities will enhance the team s relationship and understanding
towards a cohesive relationship. Most importantly is to align the vision and employees objectives
to provide employees the appropriate feedback for growth and success of the team. Feedback and
performance measurement will also allow the leader to reward and recognize the team s top
performers. Appropriate reward and recognition

Iran-Iraq War Research Paper
The findings of the Ottoman Empire date all the way back to 1299 under Osman I, the founder and
leader of the Ottoman Turks in northwest Anatolia. By 1900, the Ottoman Empire was a large
multinational, multilingual empire, consisting of Southeast Europe, Western Asia, Northern Africa
and even the oil fields of Southern Iraq. Although being under Turkish rule, this large population of
this geographic area was full of different nationalities containing multiple ethnic and religious
groups, many of which disliked each other. Due to this aversion of one another, these groups
identified themselves to their own distinct nationality rather than being part of the Ottoman Empire.
The result of this internal conflict led to a fragile nation that struggled... Show more content on

Iran has been the center of the Shiite branch of Islam, while Iraq, where Shiites are in a slight
majority, has been led by political elites from the Sunni branch of Islam. On September 22,
1980, Iraq invaded Iran by air and land. Iraq maintains that Iran started the war on September 4
with artillery attacks on Iraqi towns. The aim of Iraq s attack, according to President Saddam
Hussein, was to boost claims for Iraqi sovereignty over the Shatt al Arab, and for a shift of the
boundary to the Iranian side. Hussein also demanded border adjustments in the north and the return
to Arab sovereignty of three islands at the mouth of the Gulf that Iran occupied in 1971. Experts on
the fighting say Hussein began the war to topple the Khomeini regime and to make Iraq the
dominant Gulf power. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute confirms that 95 per
cent of military supplies to him came from France, the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and China.
Saddam fought the Iran Iraq war with Soviet tanks and artillery, Soviet and French aircraft, and
French electronic air defenses. Iraq used chemical weapons repeatedly against Iran during the Iran

GFCI Research Paper
Hundreds of deaths occur each year due to electrocutions in or around the home. Over two thirds
of these deaths and thousands of electrical shocks can be prevented if a ground fault circuit
interpreter is installed properly in the homes branch circuits. However many people do not know
what a ground fault circuit interpreter or GFCI is or if it is installed in their homes. Invented by
Charles Dalziel in 1961, the GFCI is an inexpensive device that monitors electricity flow within the
circuits. If there is a loss of current the device shuts off that circuit instantly to avoid a fatal dose of
electricity. The national electric code requires them in all new kitchens and bathrooms as well as

things into the wall and a two buttons in the middle that usually reads test and reset . When
pressing the test button the GFCI should trip and turn off the power to anything plugged in. If
this does not happen, the device is faulty or improperly installed and Atlanta area homeowners
should contact an Atlanta electrical contractor as soon as possible. GFCI Portable: These
devices resemble an extension cord. They plug into a wall outlet and allow users to plug items
into them while the device is encased for weather protection. These are used mainly in outdoor
areas where the receptacle type use is impractical. GFCI Circuit Breakers: These devices are
installed into a panel box allowing for the GFCI to dual function. The device will protect the
selected circuits from ground fault but will also shut down the circuit in the event of an
overload or a short. It is never wise for a homeowner inexperienced in electrical work to attempt
to install a GFCI alone. Contacting an electrical contractor should precede any do it yourself
projects around the home as there is a serious risk of injury and fatality for a simple error. In
Georgia, an Atlanta electrician will be able to asses the electrical system in the home and provide a

The Management Of Municipal Solid Waste
Assignment 1:
Introduction:
The management of municipal solid waste become one of the most crucial issues in many
countries due to rapid increase in population and economic growths. This essay will seek to
critically evaluate and review the waste generation and physical characteristics in Malaysia and also
shows the current management system of solid waste in this country based on published
information. The major problems and issues that Malaysia is facing with will be mentioned
.Therefore, gives an overview of the future in terms of quantities based on analyzing the data.
Background of the Malaysia
According to Manaf, Samah, Zukki (2009) Malaysia is a tropical country which is located in the
central part of Southeast Asia. The country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rapid increase in population and solid generation cause this country to experience an
evolution and transition in the solid waste management. Some policies and legislation has been
introduced in Malaysia but is still week and needs to be improved. In comparison with its
neighboring countries the rate of recycling is at 5% which is very low (Aja Al Kayiem, 2013).
Solid waste generation and physical characteristics
The Malaysian population has been increasing annually due to urbanization and industrialization
and according to the WPR the population is near 30.2 million and more than 70% of this to be
living in the urban areas. . Moreover, there is a strong relationship between population growth and
amount of waste produced. In other words, as population increases, the amount of generated waste
also rises (Johari, Alkali, Hashim, Ahmed, 2014). Table 1 shows this relationship for years 2000
2003.
Manaf et al (2009) reported that the average amount of MSW generated vary in different parts of
Malaysia depending on the population and township size and also the level of economic
standards. It is in the range of 0.5 0.8 kg/cap/day, in rural areas and smaller towns while in major
cities and also in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, is approximately between 1.7 1.9 kg/cap/day. Table 2

Northern Mockingbird Characteristics
President Thomas Jefferson had a pet mockingbird named Dick ( Northern Facts ). The Northern
Mockingbird has many distinctive characteristics. These characteristics include how the
mockingbird prefers specific habitats, how their feeding habits is unusual, and how the nesting
habits are unique. The mockingbirdis very well known for its songs and imitation of other sounds.
Mockingbirds are very territorial and defensive; mockingbirds are known to attack to protect their
young and nesting sites.
The Northern Mockingbird has many distinctive characteristics; such as they prefer specific
habitats, their unusual eating habits, and their nesting habits.
Mockingbirds prefer a specific habitat that includes hedges, suburban gardens, and orchard
margins with an abundance of available fruit. It is especially important that there are hedgerows
of multi flora roses ( Birds of Minnesota and Wisconsin ). When the mockingbird goes walking
they prefer areas with large open ground with shrub like vegetation such as parks and cultivated
land ( All About Birds ).
The feeding habits of mockingbirds are unusual for a bird. The mockingbird changes what it eats
with the seasons, in the summer they prefer insects such as beetles, moths, earthworms, butterflies,

The mockingbird s song is a medley of mimicked phrases, with the phrases repeated 3 times or
more; calls include a harsh chair and chewk (Janssen, Tessen, Kennedy 260). Mockingbirds can
imitate vocalizations of different birds, musical instruments, and barking dogs. They replicate
sounds so accurately that even computerized auditory analysis is unable to figure out the
differences differences between the original source and the mockingbird s imitation (Janssen,
Tessen, Kennedy 260). The easiest way to first identify a mockingbird is by listening for its song,
which mimics numerous different birds at once ( All About

Violence, Foolishness, And Impulsiveness In The Knight s Tale
The Knight s Tale is one of many tales from the Canterbury Tales. This story sets in the city of
Athens. Which opens into the theme of violence, foolishness, impetuousness, and impulsiveness;
initially exceedingly emotional responses. One example is when two of our main characters,
Palmon and Arcite, both fall in love with Theseus s sister in law (Emelye). These two blood
brothers, leave each other after seeing Emelye out of the window of the tower. Which, I believe is
a very impulsive decision, for they have not got time to know who she is and her personality. Also,
they act like mortal enemies after just seeing her, so this thoughtprocess was completely impulsive
and based on her looks. And later, Arcite tries to get to know her better after he was released
from his imprisonment sentence by disguising himself, so he can take a job as a page in Emelye
s chamber. I believe this shows that he wants to know her, but also it shows he is not being
honest with her, which shows he was being impulsive and deceiving. He only learned about the
little things that she liked, not her personality. Emelye learned a little bit about Arcite after the
little conversing they shared, so they learned a little of each other s personality. This shows that
the friendship was growing and not an intimate relationship, like Arcite wanted. So the story
goes on and both Palmon and Arcite have been released from prison. And they happen to both
decide to wander in the woods. Then they confront each other, each claiming the right to
Emelye. The next day, they were brutally hacking away at each other. Honestly, I believe they
are being impulsive and violent, they still barely knew Emelye (especially Palmon), and they
decide to go kill each other. Then here shows up Theseus, which a loving and wise duke, but he
can also be a little impulse when it comes to violence (which is fairly normal for a duke in the
1390s). Theseus tries to be loving when he sees the two men fighting, but he changes his mindwhen
he found out it was Palmon and Arcite fighting. And that they were fighting because they love
Emelye. Then Theseus was about to respond by killing them, but his loving wife and Emelye
intervened, pleading for their lives. They pleaded

Creating Engaging Literacy Lesson Plan
Creating engaging literacy lesson plans takes a combination of effective instruction and material
interesting to students. Knowing your students is essential in the planning and implementing of
any lesson to ensure it reaches all students .Reading Comprehension: What Every Teacher Needs to
Know, states Influential teachers are highly valued participants in the readingprocess. They know
the importance of every student comprehending successfully. (McLaughlin,2012 p. 433). Ensuring
all students have the opportunity to learn and comprehend the information presented in a lesson is
important to lesson creation. Creating and implementing a reading/writing lesson for this course,
took some extra care and a planning. Using literacy based instruction practices in combination with
STEM education proved to be very helpful as well as engaging to my students.
I feel this lesson motivated students to read more informational texts. By reading this story,
students were intrigued about the other different kinds of boats there are and how they are made
and work. This also encouraged students to use a fictional text to learn about real world items.
One student asked what other kinds of books we could read to inspire us to build things. We
discussed finding a story about cars or buildings and then using different materials to create our
own versions. This lesson also introduced students to a way of applying what they learned from a
fictional text, to other subjects, in this case

Moral Panics Essay
Question #1 Moral panics is something that the society will always experience. From back in
history to now, there are different cases of moral panics. Most of these panics affect and target
individuals on a daily basis. Rainbow parties, teen sex bracelets, and even bullying has become a
huge moral panic for the society now. Bullyinghave always existed, however, the method and
seriousness of bullying has increased dramatically over time. Cyberbullying is one of the most
troubling and disruptive crimes of our society now. The advancement of technology has
definitely enforced a huge impact on cyberbullying. The internet and its easy access has made it
exceptionally easy to target people, especially juveniles, throughout the day at any given time.
Many popular social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram is where a lot of
bullying happens to take place. I definitely understand why this has become such an enormous
moral panic because of the negative influences it has on young people or juveniles. The internet
makes it apparent and easy to judge others by the way someone looks, dress, or act. Even though
this is a country of freedom, liberty, and equality, people still are inclined to judge others and
critique them harshly. This cause juveniles to develop a mere sense of conscience, low self esteem,
and a high need for approval or acceptance. First, what is the actual definition of bullying?

The Yellow Wallpaper Patriarchal Analysis Essay
Throughout literary history, there have been prominent fictional and nonfictional narratives that not
only concentrate on various cultures, but also allow the writer to critique societal issues that cause
one or more of these cultures to come into conflict with one another. Regardless of race, creed or
any other defining factor, these issues allow readers to experience different cultures firsthand and,
at the same time, better understand what it means to be human. Over the course of this essay, I
intend to analyze the societal issues critiqued in Charlotte Perkins Gilmans The Yellow Wallpaper
while simultaneously attempting to prove that Gilman uses her writing to protest the oppression
against women in a patriarchal social system.

In 1884, Gilman married artist Charles Walter Stetson and gave birth to a daughter the following
year. Sometime later, Gilman suffered a serious bout of what is now known as post partum
depression, which forced her to begin medical treatment with leading physician Silas Weir Mitchell,
who is known today for introducing a rest cure that consisted of constant bed rest and as little
intellectual activity as possible. Three months later, when her mental health failed to improve,
Gilman contravened the so called cure and left her husband before moving to California and
starting her writing career. It was the aforementioned events that inspired Gilman to write a short
story based on her experiences; one that emphasized the world in which Gilman lived.
The nineteenth century is widely considered to have been an era in which men controlled almost
all the day to day aspects of American life while women were forced into a position that, according
to Professor Helga Siguroardottir of the University of Iceland, was equivalent to that of a domestic
pet. Siguroardottir also notes that women in nineteenth century America and Great Britain were

Nanotechnology For Enhanced Solar Conversion
Egbo Kingsley O. PhD in Nanostructures for Enhanced Solar Conversion Research Proposal
Abstract The possibilities of employing a nanoscale metal topography that will employ surface
plasmon excitation phenomena towards improving the light absorption efficiency of organic solar
cells will be investigated. This goal is achievable by analytically designing and producing optically
active nanostructures which are used to excite surface plasmons at the wavelengths range dictated
by the sun in order to support the confinement of light beyond the diffraction limit, thus leading to
high weighted enhancements over a wider range of the solar spectrum. This can be achieved by
employing nanostructured materials with unique properties tailored for the materials characteristics
of II VI nanorod systems across the solar spectrum capable of creating significant enhancements
while preventing unwanted thermal losses. Also external quantum efficiency measurements on the
nanostructured cells will be made, this is expected to demonstrate a substantial photon absorption
enhancement across the solar spectrum. Finally, key insights into light absorption and trapping
mechanisms in these plasmon enhanced cells through a combination of three dimensional finite
difference time domain simulations, optical absorption, and external quantum efficiency
measurements will be obtained Introduction The increasing population of the world is making

The Influences of Mass Media on Health Trends
The mass media consists of many sources of communication such as newspapers, magazines,
television and radio, amongst other media outlets, of which are used to inform, educate, influence,
and entertain an audience. These forms of communication help construct a person s perception
because the media use platforms to influence opinion, of which is made possible due to how the
media organisations use their resources. The modern media are able to change people s
perspectives by introducing them to modern knowledge. In particular, the media has a great
influence on health trends, due to them being the main source of information to the public, and
therefore they have a greater responsibility to present the facts because irresponsible reporting can
result in consequences, such as widespread moral panic, financial failure for businesses and may
potentially be life threatening. Evidence to support this statement comes from the increase of the
term obesity epidemic used by the media, in particular The New York Times, of whom covered
this throughout 751 reports between 1990 and 2001. The obesity epidemic caused a moral panic
amongst the public because the media defined it as a social issue due to the news story being less
significant to theme. The information presented is influential to the public as it shapes their
perception towards obesity. However, the media tend to portray overweight individuals negatively,
of which reinforces stigma and ultimately results in the

Legalization of Doping in Professional Sports
The incident of Ben Johnson s steroid disgrace during the Olympics of 1988 was not the genesis
of drug use in sport. The use of performance improving drugs has a history with research
indicating cases dating back to the creation of Olympic Games. Doping has shaken most, if not all
of the sports competitions today. A lot of winners in various sportcategories have been stripped their
medals due positive elements of drug and substances in their blood or urine during tests. Sportsmen

the rest of the world. They started to control big territories in Asia, Africa, and South America. They
conquered these areas through military force and exploration, often exploiting their new lands and
conquered peoples using them for labor and hurting them if they didn t cooperate. They used these
new territories to gain power and wealth. During this time Belgium attempts to build its own empire
in the Congo. Sir Henry Morton Stanley, an explorer who was sent and funded by King Leopold,
was sent to conquer the Congo for King Leopold and for Belgium. Once they conquered the
Congo they exported many of the riches and treasures, without anything being imported. The first
modern international scandal was King Leopold s invasion of the Congo, he conquered and ruled
through exploration and deception. At this time European countries countries like Britain, Spain,
Portugal, France, and Belgium were all in a race to gain more territory and to expand their
control. Portugal was in the lead and Belgium was lagging far behind in this race for power.
Belgium was smaller country that was new at the time and still trying to expand their country. King
leopold, the king of belgium, decided to acquire territory in Africato make belgium a major empire.

The Importance Of Behaviors In The Workplace
Laura and Myrtle were working in the baggage office. Laura was working the front desk and

Cultures are what impact and shape the structure of a civilization. They are how the traditions, and
ways of life that a civilization would adapt to. In aspect of that, the artifacts of a civilization display
the changes the changing that have occurred through time. Granted that, artifacts are ways of
preserving the cultural history of a civilization and to show respect in regards to these hidden
treasures of knowledge.
With this in mind, would preserving the artifact would include exporting any artifacts back to the
region of origin? If so, what if the government or civilization might not properly take care of the
artifacts or if the museum is not secure enough for the artifacts to be returned?
In regards of those questions, the head of the Ministry of Culture of the People s Republic of
China, Luo Shugang has requested the return of two artifacts that currently reside at the Nelson
Atkin Museum of Art in Kansas City Missouri. The two artifacts in question are a ritual disk (bi)
with dragon motif from the Zhou dynasty, and a model of a house from the Han dynasty. These two
artifacts would be shipped and ultimately go to the Palace Museum of the Forbidden City, located
in Beijing China. In regards of Luo Shugang and the research done on the situation, I would have to
respectfully decline his request on concerns of standards of the museum, the risks involved of

Cloned Meat
Cloned meat has been founded on December 28 2006, the United States Food Drug
Administration (FDA) gave preliminary approval for meat and dairy products from cloned
animals to be sold as food for human consumption. They also stated that labeling of cloned food
would not be required because of the approval of the FDA. When they stated that cloned meatdidn t
require labeling for their food products, which automatically brought up a red flag because people
should have the right to know whether or not they re eating cloned offspring or home grown
meat. How would that make you feel; what would your reaction be? Well let me tell you; you
might feel disgusted, clueless, or confused, because you wouldn t have any idea of what type of

While reviewing this website, I ve come to understand that cloning meat is and has been
treacherous to us for providing harm to our farm animals by giving them high doses of different
chemicals, making them live with birth defects and making statements to deceive the public by
saying it s a harmless process that enhances and multiply the breed of animals when it really
does not. The scariest part to this issue is our animals suffer and so do we if we re meat
consumers. (Dan Kedmey) Then studies have proven that bacteriological meat contamination in
the US, for the first time was enacted in 1906 when the Pure Food and Drug Act was signed by
laws in regards of banning infected and mislabeled products from the interstate commerce.
Observations about those risks were associated with bacteriological meat contamination, and
about how it should be regulated, has changed significantly since then. This article focuses
particularly on changes that have occurred in bacteriological meat contamination standards in
the US since the early 1980s when E. coli was for the first time identified as a new foodborne
pathogen associated with the consumption of undercooked meat. The idea of cloning farm
animals is to produce replicas of the animals with the highest economic value, for example the
fastest growing pigs or the highest yielding dairy cows to make a profit off of. However the
process of cloning itself causes our animals suffering. Animals with the highest economic value are
prone to developing severe health problems, pushed to their physical limits; they are destined to a
lifetime of suffering. The Cloning equals Cruelty campaign highlighted intrinsic animal welfare
issues for selective breeding in animals for food, meat and dairy. Research also shows that many
cloned farm animals are born with deformed organs and live short and miserable

Analysis Of Tom Wacaster s Book Galatians
In his book, Studies in Galatians, Tom Wacaster addresses a very vital need: to provide common
level, sound commentaries of the Bible. Books such as this are very beneficial, as they assist an
average member of the church to expand their understanding of God s word. This, as Wacaster
stated himself, was his goal in writing this very commentary. If [Studies in Galatians] serves to
give just one precious soul a better understanding of this wonderful letter...then it will have been
worth the time spent in preparing and publishing (3, 4). Wacaster has surely accomplished this
worthy objective and more with this valuable book. Wacaster s book, which is (as the title
suggests) centered on Paul s epistle to the Galatians, is very obviously intended to the common
level, average audience. Wacaster does not delve into complex conversations of textual variants,
manuscript discrepancies, and disputations of authorship, nor does he use vocabulary or
phraseology that is above the understanding of most individuals. Rather, Wacaster is simple,
straightforward, and effective in communicating his points on the wonderful book of Galatians.
With many commentaries that are written at a graduate and scholarly level, a more basic
approach is much appreciated and needed. Wacaster took a very direct approach in organizing
Studies in Galatians. It is setup as a verse by verse commentary, with each verse being given in the
American Standard Version and then followed by the author s discussion of

Prenatal Human Development
The creation of a human being is a miraculous process. When many people hear human
development, they tend to think about infancy or adolescent years when kids go through puberty,
but the most amazing developmental processes take place in the prenatal stage. The amount of
growth and change that occurs during the nine month gestational period is almost
incomprehensible. Prenatal development is broken down into three stages, the Germinal stage,
the Embryonic Stage, and the Fetal stage. This paper will mainly focus on the embryonic stage
because there is a vast amount of crucial development that happens during this period. The
embryonic stage is also exciting because it is during this stage that the mass of cells that are
supposed to be a human, starts to actually resemble a baby. The embryonic stage begins two
weeks after conception, after implantation has taken place, and lasts until week eight. During this
time, some body structure begins to appear and by week eight, the embryo has all basic organs and

After the Partitions of Poland (1772 1795), which had decreased the size of the country, giving
most of the land to Russia, Prussia, and Austria Hungary.
The First World War provided a practical chance for Poland to restore its independence. The
powers, which had separated the country more than one hundred years earlier, were fighting on
opposite sides. Germany with the Austro Hungarian Empire (the Central Powers) fought Imperial
Russia allied with France and Great Britain. Polish troops, under their own banners, also joined the

Poland had to balance between Germany and Soviet Russia. In 1932 Poland signed a non
aggression treaty with the Soviet Union, which was to last until 1945. In 1934 a similar ten year
pact was signed with Germany. One year earlier, shortly after Adolf Hitler s ascension to power,
Polish Head of State Marshal Pilsudski made a secret proposal to France to mount together a
preemptive strike against Germany to unseat Hitler before the Germans had time to rearm. But
France refused, compelling the Polacks to do the next best thing: to enter into a non aggression pact
with the Germans. In 1936 the Germans broke the Versailles treaty by reoccupying the
demilitarized zone in the Rhineland, thus demonstrating to the world their aggressive intentions. As
we now know, Hitler and Joseph Stalin eventually broke both non aggression pacts.
After annexing Austria, Sudetenland and Czechoslovakia in March 1939, the German government
repeated their request to Poland, demanding that Gdansk become part of the Third Reich and that
an extraterritorial highway and railroad be constructed across the so called quot;Polish Corridor.

between Poland, France and Great Britain. On August 23, 1939, the Ribbentrop Molotow pact

Natchez Tribe Social Structure
Native American life for the Natchez tribe was primitive and communal. The social structure of
the Natchez Native American tribe was organized by a caste system which drew from religious
beliefs and classified individuals as suns, nobles, honored people, and commoners. The most
important members of the tribe were the Peace Chief named the Great Sun, his right hand man,
the War Chief, and the four clan Mothers. The Chiefs were determined based upon the social
status of their mother at birth. Natchez were considered hierarchical because the Peace Chief
named the Great Sun was always the son of the clan Mother known as the Female Sun. Also, the
Female Sun s daughter would be the mother of the next the Great Sun. This made sure that the
Chief was always male. The Natchez tribe was a strong matrilineal society because the Female
Sun gave birth to the Great Sun. The power was passed through the Mother s part of the family.

My Most Thankful Of My Life

grateful are the many amazing people in my life. The people and pets that I am most grateful for
are my loving puppies, my crazy friends, and my supportive family I love them all so. The support
they give, the love that will neverend, and the endless laughs you share with your pets, friends, and

My companions for life, my best friends I will never lose, the friends who will comfort me
whenever that s my dogs. What could I love more than Calvin and Willie my best friends I could
never live without my two baby boys. I m am thankful for their never ending love, their never

dog owner is like being a mom at times with your never ending love for them and some of their
clueless actions. I always have a great time walking just around the block with my dogs or

about in lunch. If they are coming up to me just to let them out or if they want some love or
affection because they didn t get any dinner scraps I will always love them and I will always be
thankful for my two big bundles of joy. In summation, they will always be there for me and that is

diversity of my familytaught me to be accepting and open minded, along with helping me become
adaptable to different types of people. As a child, I was subjected to disapproval, of my parents

A Reflection at the Center for Inclusion and Campus Involvement: Social Justice Pre Practicum
Unlike my mental health pre practicum which was an off campus endeavor at Aspire Health

the Center for Inclusion and Campus Involvement (CICI). Working this semester for CICI was
an eye opening experience. For over four months, I was able to abide by CICI s mission
statement which consists of the following values; inclusion, courageous leadership, authenticity,
and social change. My endeavors were directed towards the LGBTQ community at Rollins, but I

America and we as Americans have faced many hardships. One of these trying times was the
period from 1865 1877, the era known as Reconstruction. Several plans for Reconstruction were

The Yellow Wallpaper Female Hysteria Essay
Until the medical breakthroughs that we have made in the modern day, psychology as a science
was not fully understood. Modern technology has given us a clearer idea of psychology, but in the
past there was less known about the science. This alongside a predominantly male medical
discourse led to a medical diagnosis in many women called hysteria. Female hysteria was a medical
diagnosis given to specifically women as far back as the ancient Greek civilization. Hysteria
started as a supernatural phenomena, but as medicine evolved it would be described as a mental
disorder, (Tasca). Hysteria. in actuality, is an absurd and fabricated diagnosis that institutionalized
and discriminated countless women. The way it makes a women feel, and the fact that it strips a
womanof any sort of free will is a sickening display of blatant misogyny. The Yellow Wallpaper by
Charlotte Perkins Gilmanperfectly displays not only the misogyny, but the torture a woman must

the number of deaths that were experienced in Haitiwas a number almost 200,000 while in Chile it

Most of the people succumbed to diseases that arose from the sanitation, infections, and other health
related issues that occurred after the disaster. This is because they lacked their own mechanisms of
combating infections, sanitation issues, and post disaster mental issues (Huus, 2010). They also
lacked response plans for a disaster of a higher magnitude. For example, there was no disaster
management system that showed the various protocols of managing a large scale disaster.
Therefore, health issues such as sanitation, comfort, and management of communicable diseases
was a major problem (Farmer et al 2011). Other factors responsible for this problem is the high level
of poverty, lack of infrastructure, and the large population. In Chile, there were established
mechanisms of managing the disaster. There were health interventions that were available,
including rescue teams, preventive techniques, sanitation and other disease management protocol.

Traits And Values In My Personal Leadership Model
Personal leadership model
Great leaders are able to identify their leadership style, and through continuous assessment of their
own abilities as leaders, they are able to develop and understand their own abilities and strengths.
When someone is able to understand his or her strengths and limitations, then they are able to
develop and grow themselves into effective leaders. This also helps them to challenge themselves
to find new skills to improve themselves through practice. After an assessment of my own abilities

Implementation of Two Types of Mayor-Council Government...
Research Paper Political Science
The purpose of this paper is to comprehensively compare and contrast the implementation of two
types of mayor council government systems which are that of the weak mayor type of the mayor
council system and the strong mayor type of the mayor council system. The premise of the analysis
which has been conducted in this paper is based upon assessing the local governments of two cities
within the United States Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Minneapolis, Minnesota which follow the
adoption of a strong mayor system and weak mayor system respectively.
With regard to a mayor council form, the system itself is based upon the presence of numerous
factors which lead to the creation of a range of types which share one basic foundation. As
suggested by the premise of this form of local government, the primary actors which come together
to continue the sustenance of this framework include the mayor and the council, both of which

parties within the wider framework entails the extent to which each actor holds a certain degree or
extent of authority in managing the affairs of the city, this notion implies that the distribution of
power and authority maybe classified as relative or absolute wherein it may favor the elected

Voltaire s View Of Voltaire
Voltaire was an enlightenment provider who wrote many play and books. He was a famous
writer, who made a lot of money and he wanted money. So everything he accomplished, he did
because he thought people are going to buy for him to be rich. One of his most famous is the
story of Candide in which he wrote to be entertained. The book is a satire in which Voltairein some
way criticizes the institutions, and the people. Although Voltaire s societies had many advances,
this made him criticize different elements of his societies.
In the 1700s the Europeans had so many advances. They had conquered territories around the
world. They were wealthy and their societies had advanced intellectually. By the 1700s, the
Europeans thought they are at the top and they can get any better than this. This is what makes
Voltaire criticize part of Europeans. Voltaire did satirize different institutions for instance, other
philosophers, many religious people, protestant pastors, and minority groups. He criticizes the
church when the old woman begun saying you must know that I am the daughter of pope Urban X
and of the princess of Palestrina (In chapter 11) . Voltaire explains that there is no pope named
Urban X and he uses this opportunity to condemn the church. He means that the Catholic Church is
exceedingly corrupt and it shouldn t be an institution. He also points out that the church members
are indeed silly even though they are taking vows. Voltaire doesn t understand why people attend

Lao Tzu Leadership Influences
Introduction Lao Tzu, the Father of Taoism, lived a large part of his life searching for an
individual s path of natural goodness. He is known for numerous inspirational quotes, such as
Be the Chief, but never the lord. I became aware of this quote several years ago and it has been a
source of encouragement throughout my Coast Guard career. The title of lord is inherited or
given as a positional power granted by landowners. The Chief is chosen by the people to make the
right decisions for their advantage. It is an earned position of trust. Based on my interpretation of
Lao Tzu s quote, my definition of leadershipis to have others follow by choice not by mere power.
A person cannot rule by force given to them by rank and expect... Show more content on

I do not state where I see my subordinates to be. I need to be more open as to what I expect of my
subordinates to get them to meet future goals. If they do not have the future goals laid out for
them, how can I expect them to reach it? These goals will give them something measurable to strive
for.
#5 Praise people for a job well done also needs my attention. I have a terrible habit of correcting
and praising in private. I need to keep correcting in private, but praise in public. I acknowledge
their hard work with awards, but those tend to have time restrictions often taking months or years
after the incidents. Giving immediate recognition is a practice I need to adopt. It is not difficult
telling someone Great job today or Good work but it is hard to get into that routine. I also realize
that there must be a balance between recognition and praise to not overdo it and thereby making it
meaningless.
My hardest challenge will be #8 because it Challenges people to try out new and innovative
ways to do their work. My subordinates must be given the opportunity to grow. If they don t see
me letting go of the reigns to give them ownership, they will see my supervision as being a lord
and not a leader. It will be tough to see them disappointed with the failure; that is what stops me
from letting them have their own experiences in leadership. I need to let them try different methods
to do their work if they feel my way is not the most efficient,

The Word Nigger
Words Cut Deeper Than a Knife The word nigger is a word of many and various meanings with
plentiful purposes. It is like no other word. People use this word to criticize, harm, exclaim, and
even to sound cool to others. There are so many variations of the word nigger that could seem
less harmful like nigga , nig , etc, that are used to disguise true intentions. To determine the
meaning of the word nigger it is crucial to look deeply at the scenario because it can be used in
so many ways for so many reasons. For instance, overlooking the time period, the geographical
location and the acts unfolding could lead to a misunderstanding of the true meaning of the word
nigger . The two biggest things to consider when determining the true meaning of the word is to
recognize who is using the word and who exactly the word is being targeted towards; but failing
to recognize other factors also help when determining the connotation. Race is a huge part of how
this word is defined. Because this word has a greater effect on black peoplethan white people, it is
very common for a black person to be more offended when the word is used. I, personally, have
heard this term being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This word became the noun, negro, describing a black person in English, and simply defining the
color black in Spanish and Portuguese (Niggers, a Brief History). No matter what meaning the
word had before, it all changed in the 1800 s. The words nigger and negro suddenly transformed
from a harmless connotation to a spiteful term used to tarnish the black community. It was now a
new favorite among the vocabulary of racist whites, who held first place in thinking the absolute
lowest of the African American race. In the United States, nigger was first regarded as pejorative in
the early nineteenth century. In the era of enslavement, the words nigger or

Symbolism In An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge
Bierce s method to create illusion by using death and war in An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge
Ambrose Bierce assisted in the Union Army during the American Civil War during the 19th
century as a topographical officer. He wrote An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge after he served
in the army, where he had a traumatic injury in which a thin layer separated him from death. This
short story is placed during this war; therefore, Bierce gives us the closest thing to a first hand
account of dying and his view about war. The text begins with a tied man, Peyton Farquhar,
standing on a bridge in Alabama where he is going to be hanged from. Bierce does not follow a
linear structure; instead he uses a disrupted structure; so after presenting us the man ... Show more

He explores issues of consciousness, awareness, dying, and the afterlife; and tries to describe
what death is like: Death is a dignitary who when he comes announced is to be received with
formal manifestations of respect, even by those most familiar with him. (Bierce 1). This
quotation represents the moment before Peyton s hanging, watched by soldiers. Farquhar knows
that he is going to die, but he does not want to accept it, so he invents a fantasy where he
survives and escapes from the sentinels. If we watch carefully to the details Bierce uses to
describe every moment of the story, we can observe that according to 2006 Second Place Critical
Analysis On An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge these details are so specific and superfluous, that
can detract from the reality, so any suspicion that Peyton is imagining this series of events seems
to vanish away since no person could have such a detailed perception of things imagined in such
a panic state. Thus, in this sense, Bierce s ability to achieve the shock ending is linked with the
minute details included throughout the short story (4). The way Bierce has to describe death
makes the reader feel closer to the main character, Farquhar Peyton, and adds new ideas of what
people think dying is like, losing the binding definition of death. Hence, the large detailed
description of how passing away is like, interferes in the audience s thoughts making them believe
that Peyton s fantasy is

Western Culture Has Brought More Negative Impacts On The Malaysian Youth.
Western culture is a body of knowledge derived from reason that began in Ancient Greece. There
and in the Roman civilization it developed until the start of the Middle Ages when it largely
vanished from Europe. During the Middle Ages, Western cultureresided, instead, in the Arab
/ Persian world to a modest degree. Today, Western culture has at least some presence in nearly all
nations of the world. It does not currently exist, however, anywhere in a perfect and complete form.
Wherever Western culture exists, it is at least partially mixed, and often largely mixed with non
Western culture. Western culture represents knowledge developed from the reason that has been...

These casual sexual encounters among Malaysian youth have contributed to a social problem that
appears every day in newspaper and mass media. From the period of January until July 2010,
public were shocked, appalled, dismayed by the increasing reported cases of abandoned babies,
some of whom were found dead. This incident indirectly indicated that something is wrong in our
society.
Statistics from the Malaysia Welfare Department from January to April 2010, reported that 111
unmarried young girls were pregnant. The figure, however, is just the tip of the iceberg as
many cases go unreported and pregnancies terminated. It also reported in New Straits Times on
23rd July 2010, the body of a baby girl found in a bag at a bus stop near the Sultan Ismail
Hospital, Johor Bahru in the morning. Also there a baby found buried. New Straits Times on 18th
July 2010, reported that a fetus was found buried by the roadside in Jalan 12, Bandar Puteri
Puchong, Selangor. As mention by the Dr Ismail Thamby in the Bernama on 26 August 2010,
normally young people will not think of the consequences of their actions because they are easily
driven by factors such as influence by pornographic materials on the internet, as well as they lack of
religious knowledge.

Questions On Health Care System
WEAKNESS UKHC is following good strategic measures like focusing on complex patients,
using EMR, and large physicians and patient network. However, the complexity of payment
system is considered as major weakness that offers immense pressure on UKHC due to changing
health care reforms (Karpf, Lofgren, Bricker, et al, 2009). Major concerns for UKHC in present
situation are,
Changing in reimbursement structures from volume based payments to quality and outcome based
payment structures.
Even though growing in, patient centered and quality care rate there is public concern about the
quality, access and safety of care provided.
Growing awareness about medicine and independence of patients are the aspects that are
challenging the medical procedures.
Growing healthcare costs Even though the patient sharing is good from bluegrass funding, it is
yet to provide leverage for patients form rural and low economy class. The rate of quality has
declined form 12th rank to 19th rank in the recent quality analysis which UKHC need to realize.
Extension of the services is needed for the inpatients and emergency is necessary due to increasing
load of patients (Fact book, 2015). Implementation of extension process is necessary to increase the
number of beds and associated staff.
OPPORTUNITIES
UKHC has more scope for expansion of its network and associated health care programs. Based on
the aging population of Kentucky there is a need to initiate a long term care unit in

How Does Legislation Affect The Welfare Of Children
The welfare of children is paramount for anybody working closely with children. To ensure the
safety and wellbeing of children certain acts and legislations were brought in for people working
closely with children. The Children Act 1989 brought in changes to legislation in England and
Wales surrounding child welfare, the Act identified the responsibility of parents and people who
work with children to ensure the childâ€TMs safety. The Acts main aims were to encourage
partnership between statutory authorities and parents, redefine the concept of parental
responsibility, restructure the framework of the courts in particular with regard to family
proceedings and finally to achieve a balance between protecting children and the rights of parents to
challenge state intervention. This Act is an important piece of legislation as it has such a strong
focus on safeguarding children and the duties that local authorities have to ensure this. The Every
Child Matters Guidelines came into being after the tragic death of Victoria Climbie, the main points
that emerged from the case and which formed the Every Child Matters guidelines were that:

able to discuss these cases to determine what lessons are to be learned so that a case like that can

and closer together in future. A report will be created after this which will be made public on the

Lady Capulet Language Analysis
The nurse s most prominent qualities are that she is more casual in her manner of speaking and
makes very inappropriate comments throughout the scene. The nurse s informal manner is seen
quite a few times during 1:3 (Act 1, Scene 3). Towards the beginning of the scene, she repeatedly
addresses Juliet as Jules . This nickname tells the reader that the nurse and Juliet get along well
and seem to be more like friends. Another significant moment when her way of speaking stands out
is when the reader compares Lady Capulet s form of speaking to the nurse s way. Essentially, the
nurse speaks quite freely with the Capulets due to her friendly relationship with them. This freedom
of speech often leads to quite crude and odd comments from her (the nurse)

Sequoia Narrative
April 3rd, 2016 After finally starting a tradition in our family, we changed it up. For the past few
years and by that I mean two we had visited the beauty of Sequoia National Park and collected so
many memories together. How to forget the time when there were rumors about an aggressive
bear roaming around us, the mischievous prank my playful uncles played on Nana or our climb
to the top of Moro Rock together? And how to forget all that we saw, such as the ever growing
tall trees that makes you feel the size of an ant, the wind brushing up against your face, the forests
exploding with colors of emeralds, jades, sages, ferns, basil, moss, frogs, and lizards (rather than
the dull and evil green of the urban city: money), the intense feeling... Show more content on

My mother mourns privately and I join her for the first time in a long time, longing for things to
have been different. I find myself desperately seeking the warmth and comfort I ve always found
in my family. I find myself desperately seeking the warmth and comfort I ve always found in my
true family. The family that has always been there and shown support. I no longer see the heavy,
sleek cut stone as ancient memories rush into my now clouded vision. I m not going to forget you
or leave you. I ll be loyal to you and your memory. I don t want to be like him.
The square and I stare at each other gruelingly, the square denying me my hopes and any mercy as
I deny it a break. I prepared myself to leave, throwing one last shattered glance in between my
private yet so united tears.
I... also lost my sister. I felt shock entering my face, whether it registers on the outside or not. My
Aunt Lily and I were both put in the same room. We were both trapped in the same walls of the
situation, thoughts, and feelings, yet I had been unknowing of her presence in it until now. Now

Children are taught at a young age to be team players and many parents engage their children in sports activity to learn this skill. Even children shows through the years consist of teams from Ninja Turtles, Avengers to the old school children shows such as Scooby Doo and Super Friends. These children shows typically provide kids lessons and hidden messages about team work and their victory against the villains. Organizations may not necessarily have to battle villains in order to be successful, but they do have obstacles to overcome to be able to work together. It is also important to have an initial understanding of the types of issues that a team face that prevents them from performing as a cohesive group. It starts with identifying the organizational vision, its goals before leaders identify the right employees for the job. Recruiting, attracting and retaining the right players may pose a challenge of its own; however, all can be done with the right planning. Although being under Turkish rule, this large population of this geographic area was full of different nationalities containing multiple ethnic and religious groups, many of which disliked each other. Due to this aversion of one another, these groups identified themselves to their own distinct nationality rather than being part of the Ottoman Empire. The aim of Iraq s attack, according to President Saddam Hussein, was to boost claims for Iraqi sovereignty over the Shatt al Arab, and for a shift of the boundary to the Iranian side. Hussein also demanded border adjustments in the north and the return to Arab sovereignty of three islands at the mouth of the Gulf that Iran occupied in 1971. Experts on the fighting say Hussein began the war to topple the Khomeini regime and to make Iraq the dominant Gulf power. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute confirms that 95 per cent of military supplies to him came from France, the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and China. Over two thirds of these deaths and thousands of electrical shocks can be prevented if a ground fault circuit interpreter is installed properly in the homes branch circuits. However many people do not know what a ground fault circuit interpreter or GFCI is or if it is installed in their homes. Invented by Charles Dalziel in 1961, the GFCI is an inexpensive device that monitors electricity flow within the circuits. If there is a loss of current the device shuts off that circuit instantly to avoid a fatal dose of electricity. If this does not happen, the device is faulty or improperly installed and Atlanta area homeowners should contact an Atlanta electrical contractor as soon as possible. GFCI Portable: These devices resemble an extension cord. They plug into a wall outlet and allow users to plug items into them while the device is encased for weather protection. These are used mainly in outdoor areas where the receptacle type use is impractical. GFCI Circuit Breakers: These devices are installed into a panel box allowing for the GFCI to dual function. The device will protect the selected circuits from ground fault but will also shut down the circuit in the event of an overload or a short. It is never wise for a homeowner inexperienced in electrical work to attempt to install a GFCI alone. • 10. Violence, Foolishness, And Impulsiveness In The Knight s Tale The Knight s Tale is one of many tales from the Canterbury Tales. This story sets in the city of Athens. Which opens into the theme of violence, foolishness, impetuousness, and impulsiveness; initially exceedingly emotional responses. One example is when two of our main characters, Palmon and Arcite, both fall in love with Theseus s sister in law (Emelye). These two blood brothers, leave each other after seeing Emelye out of the window of the tower. Which, I believe is a very impulsive decision, for they have not got time to know who she is and her personality. Also, they act like mortal enemies after just seeing her, so this thoughtprocess was completely impulsive and based on her looks. And later, Arcite tries to get to know her better after he was released from his imprisonment sentence by disguising himself, so he can take a job as a page in Emelye s chamber. I believe this shows that he wants to know her, but also it shows he is not being honest with her, which shows he was being impulsive and deceiving. He only learned about the little things that she liked, not her personality. Emelye learned a little bit about Arcite after the little conversing they shared, so they learned a little of each other s personality. This shows that the friendship was growing and not an intimate relationship, like Arcite wanted. So the story goes on and both Palmon and Arcite have been released from prison. And they happen to both decide to wander in the woods. Then they confront each other, each claiming the right to Emelye. The next day, they were brutally hacking away at each other. Honestly, I believe they are being impulsive and violent, they still barely knew Emelye (especially Palmon), and they decide to go kill each other. Then here shows up Theseus, which a loving and wise duke, but he can also be a little impulse when it comes to violence (which is fairly normal for a duke in the 1390s). Theseus tries to be loving when he sees the two men fighting, but he changes his mindwhen he found out it was Palmon and Arcite fighting. And that they were fighting because they love Emelye. Then Theseus was about to respond by killing them, but his loving wife and Emelye intervened, pleading for their lives. They pleaded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Using literacy based instruction practices in combination with STEM education proved to be very helpful as well as engaging to my students. I feel this lesson motivated students to read more informational texts. By reading this story, students were intrigued about the other different kinds of boats there are and how they are made and work. This also encouraged students to use a fictional text to learn about real world items. One student asked what other kinds of books we could read to inspire us to build things. Most of these panics affect and target individuals on a daily basis. Rainbow parties, teen sex bracelets, and even bullying has become a huge moral panic for the society now. Bullyinghave always existed, however, the method and seriousness of bullying has increased dramatically over time. Cyberbullying is one of the most troubling and disruptive crimes of our society now. The advancement of technology has definitely enforced a huge impact on cyberbullying. The internet and its easy access has made it exceptionally easy to target people, especially juveniles, throughout the day at any given time. Many popular social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram is where a lot of bullying happens to take place. I definitely understand why this has become such an enormous moral panic because of the negative influences it has on young people or juveniles. The internet makes it apparent and easy to judge others by the way someone looks, dress, or act. Even though this is a country of freedom, liberty, and equality, people still are inclined to judge others and critique them harshly. This cause juveniles to develop a mere sense of conscience, low self esteem, and a high need for approval or acceptance. First, what is the actual definition of bullying? The Yellow Wallpaper Patriarchal Analysis Essay Throughout literary history, there have been prominent fictional and nonfictional narratives that not only concentrate on various cultures, but also allow the writer to critique societal issues that cause one or more of these cultures to come into conflict with one another. Regardless of race, creed or any other defining factor, these issues allow readers to experience different cultures firsthand and, at the same time, better understand what it means to be human. Over the course of this essay, I intend to analyze the societal issues critiqued in Charlotte Perkins Gilmans The Yellow Wallpaper while simultaneously attempting to prove that Gilman uses her writing to protest the oppression against women in a patriarchal social system. Sometime later, Gilman suffered a serious bout of what is now known as post partum depression, which forced her to begin medical treatment with leading physician Silas Weir Mitchell, who is known today for introducing a rest cure that consisted of constant bed rest and as little intellectual activity as possible. Three months later, when her mental health failed to improve, Gilman contravened the so called cure and left her husband before moving to California and starting her writing career. It was the aforementioned events that inspired Gilman to write a short story based on her experiences; one that emphasized the world in which Gilman lived. The nineteenth century is widely considered to have been an era in which men controlled almost all the day to day aspects of American life while women were forced into a position that, according to Professor Helga Siguroardottir of the University of Iceland, was equivalent to that of a domestic pet. • 15. Nanotechnology For Enhanced Solar Conversion Egbo Kingsley O. PhD in Nanostructures for Enhanced Solar Conversion Research Proposal Abstract The possibilities of employing a nanoscale metal topography that will employ surface plasmon excitation phenomena towards improving the light absorption efficiency of organic solar cells will be investigated. This goal is achievable by analytically designing and producing optically active nanostructures which are used to excite surface plasmons at the wavelengths range dictated by the sun in order to support the confinement of light beyond the diffraction limit, thus leading to high weighted enhancements over a wider range of the solar spectrum. This can be achieved by employing nanostructured materials with unique properties tailored for the materials characteristics of II VI nanorod systems across the solar spectrum capable of creating significant enhancements while preventing unwanted thermal losses. Also external quantum efficiency measurements on the nanostructured cells will be made, this is expected to demonstrate a substantial photon absorption enhancement across the solar spectrum. Finally, key insights into light absorption and trapping mechanisms in these plasmon enhanced cells through a combination of three dimensional finite difference time domain simulations, optical absorption, and external quantum efficiency measurements will be obtained Introduction The increasing population of the world is making demands on the availability of energy supply and research has ... • 16. The Influences of Mass Media on Health Trends The mass media consists of many sources of communication such as newspapers, magazines, television and radio, amongst other media outlets, of which are used to inform, educate, influence, and entertain an audience. These forms of communication help construct a person s perception because the media use platforms to influence opinion, of which is made possible due to how the media organisations use their resources. The modern media are able to change people s perspectives by introducing them to modern knowledge. In particular, the media has a great influence on health trends, due to them being the main source of information to the public, and therefore they have a greater responsibility to present the facts because irresponsible reporting can result in consequences, such as widespread moral panic, financial failure for businesses and may potentially be life threatening. Evidence to support this statement comes from the increase of the term obesity epidemic used by the media, in particular The New York Times, of whom covered this throughout 751 reports between 1990 and 2001. The obesity epidemic caused a moral panic amongst the public because the media defined it as a social issue due to the news story being less significant to theme. The information presented is influential to the public as it shapes their perception towards obesity. However, the media tend to portray overweight individuals negatively, of which reinforces stigma and ultimately results in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The scariest part to this issue is our animals suffer and so do we if we re meat consumers. Observations about those risks were associated with bacteriological meat contamination, and about how it should be regulated, has changed significantly since then. This article focuses particularly on changes that have occurred in bacteriological meat contamination standards in the US since the early 1980s when E. coli was for the first time identified as a new foodborne pathogen associated with the consumption of undercooked meat. The idea of cloning farm animals is to produce replicas of the animals with the highest economic value, for example the fastest growing pigs or the highest yielding dairy cows to make a profit off of. However the process of cloning itself causes our animals suffering. Animals with the highest economic value are prone to developing severe health problems, pushed to their physical limits; they are destined to a lifetime of suffering. This, as Wacaster stated himself, was his goal in writing this very commentary. If [Studies in Galatians] serves to give just one precious soul a better understanding of this wonderful letter...then it will have been worth the time spent in preparing and publishing (3, 4). The premise of the analysis which has been conducted in this paper is based upon assessing the local governments of two cities within the United States Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Minneapolis, Minnesota which follow the adoption of a strong mayor system and weak mayor system respectively. With regard to a mayor council form, the system itself is based upon the presence of numerous factors which lead to the creation of a range of types which share one basic foundation. As suggested by the premise of this form of local government, the primary actors which come together to continue the sustenance of this framework include the mayor and the council, both of which must be elected (Center for Governmental Research 1). Consequently, the presence of these two parties within the wider framework entails the extent to which each actor holds a certain degree or extent of authority in managing the affairs of the city, this notion implies that the distribution of power and authority maybe classified as relative or absolute wherein it may favor the elected mayor or the elected council in terms of possession of power on the basis of the chosen variation of the mayor council form of government. • 41. Voltaire s View Of Voltaire Voltaire was an enlightenment provider who wrote many play and books. He was a famous writer, who made a lot of money and he wanted money. So everything he accomplished, he did because he thought people are going to buy for him to be rich. One of his most famous is the story of Candide in which he wrote to be entertained. The book is a satire in which Voltairein some way criticizes the institutions, and the people. Although Voltaire s societies had many advances, this made him criticize different elements of his societies. In the 1700s the Europeans had so many advances. They had conquered territories around the world. They were wealthy and their societies had advanced intellectually. By the 1700s, the Europeans thought they are at the top and they can get any better than this. This is what makes Voltaire criticize part of Europeans. Voltaire did satirize different institutions for instance, other philosophers, many religious people, protestant pastors, and minority groups. He criticizes the church when the old woman begun saying you must know that I am the daughter of pope Urban X and of the princess of Palestrina (In chapter 11) . Voltaire explains that there is no pope named Urban X and he uses this opportunity to condemn the church. He means that the Catholic Church is exceedingly corrupt and it shouldn t be an institution. He also points out that the church members are indeed silly even though they are taking vows. Voltaire doesn t understand why people attend this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Lao Tzu Leadership Influences Introduction Lao Tzu, the Father of Taoism, lived a large part of his life searching for an individual s path of natural goodness. He is known for numerous inspirational quotes, such as Be the Chief, but never the lord. I became aware of this quote several years ago and it has been a source of encouragement throughout my Coast Guard career. The title of lord is inherited or given as a positional power granted by landowners. The Chief is chosen by the people to make the right decisions for their advantage. It is an earned position of trust. Based on my interpretation of Lao Tzu s quote, my definition of leadershipis to have others follow by choice not by mere power. A person cannot rule by force given to them by rank and expect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I do not state where I see my subordinates to be. I need to be more open as to what I expect of my subordinates to get them to meet future goals. If they do not have the future goals laid out for them, how can I expect them to reach it? These goals will give them something measurable to strive for. #5 Praise people for a job well done also needs my attention. I have a terrible habit of correcting and praising in private. I need to keep correcting in private, but praise in public. I acknowledge their hard work with awards, but those tend to have time restrictions often taking months or years after the incidents. Giving immediate recognition is a practice I need to adopt. It is not difficult telling someone Great job today or Good work but it is hard to get into that routine. I also realize that there must be a balance between recognition and praise to not overdo it and thereby making it meaningless. My hardest challenge will be #8 because it Challenges people to try out new and innovative ways to do their work. My subordinates must be given the opportunity to grow. If they don t see me letting go of the reigns to give them ownership, they will see my supervision as being a lord and not a leader. It will be tough to see them disappointed with the failure; that is what stops me from letting them have their own experiences in leadership. I need to let them try different methods to do their work if they feel my way is not the most efficient, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Symbolism In An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge Bierce s method to create illusion by using death and war in An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge Ambrose Bierce assisted in the Union Army during the American Civil War during the 19th century as a topographical officer. He wrote An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge after he served in the army, where he had a traumatic injury in which a thin layer separated him from death. This short story is placed during this war; therefore, Bierce gives us the closest thing to a first hand account of dying and his view about war. The text begins with a tied man, Peyton Farquhar, standing on a bridge in Alabama where he is going to be hanged from. Bierce does not follow a linear structure; instead he uses a disrupted structure; so after presenting us the man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He explores issues of consciousness, awareness, dying, and the afterlife; and tries to describe what death is like: Death is a dignitary who when he comes announced is to be received with formal manifestations of respect, even by those most familiar with him. (Bierce 1). This quotation represents the moment before Peyton s hanging, watched by soldiers. Farquhar knows that he is going to die, but he does not want to accept it, so he invents a fantasy where he survives and escapes from the sentinels. If we watch carefully to the details Bierce uses to describe every moment of the story, we can observe that according to 2006 Second Place Critical Analysis On An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge these details are so specific and superfluous, that can detract from the reality, so any suspicion that Peyton is imagining this series of events seems to vanish away since no person could have such a detailed perception of things imagined in such a panic state. Thus, in this sense, Bierce s ability to achieve the shock ending is linked with the minute details included throughout the short story (4). The way Bierce has to describe death makes the reader feel closer to the main character, Farquhar Peyton, and adds new ideas of what people think dying is like, losing the binding definition of death. Hence, the large detailed description of how passing away is like, interferes in the audience s thoughts making them believe that Peyton s fantasy is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Questions On Health Care System WEAKNESS UKHC is following good strategic measures like focusing on complex patients, using EMR, and large physicians and patient network. However, the complexity of payment system is considered as major weakness that offers immense pressure on UKHC due to changing health care reforms (Karpf, Lofgren, Bricker, et al, 2009). Major concerns for UKHC in present situation are, Changing in reimbursement structures from volume based payments to quality and outcome based payment structures. Even though growing in, patient centered and quality care rate there is public concern about the quality, access and safety of care provided. Growing awareness about medicine and independence of patients are the aspects that are challenging the medical procedures. Growing healthcare costs Even though the patient sharing is good from bluegrass funding, it is yet to provide leverage for patients form rural and low economy class. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of children certain acts and legislations were brought in for people working closely with children. The Children Act 1989 brought in changes to legislation in England and Wales surrounding child welfare, the Act identified the responsibility of parents and people who work with children to ensure the childâ€TMs safety. The Acts main aims were to encourage partnership between statutory authorities and parents, redefine the concept of parental responsibility, restructure the framework of the courts in particular with regard to family proceedings and finally to achieve a balance between protecting children and the rights of parents to challenge state intervention. This Act is an important piece of legislation as it has such a strong focus on safeguarding children and the duties that local authorities have to ensure this. • 48. Lady Capulet Language Analysis The nurse s most prominent qualities are that she is more casual in her manner of speaking and makes very inappropriate comments throughout the scene. The nurse s informal manner is seen quite a few times during 1:3 (Act 1, Scene 3). Towards the beginning of the scene, she repeatedly addresses Juliet as Jules . This nickname tells the reader that the nurse and Juliet get along well and seem to be more like friends. Another significant moment when her way of speaking stands out is when the reader compares Lady Capulet s form of speaking to the nurse s way. Essentially, the nurse speaks quite freely with the Capulets due to her friendly relationship with them. This freedom of speech often leads to quite crude and odd comments from her (the nurse) ...
