Gm s Argumentative Analysis
A positive spotlight shines on the GMC Canyon and the Chevrolet Colorado, a pair of midsize pickup
trucks with an available turbo diesel engine. In light of the Volkswagen diesel scandal, GM has
managed to undergo extra scrutiny of its new to the US market turbo diesel engine and has emerged
with both its reputation and its mileage claims intact. Indeed, the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado 4x2
equipped with a 2.8 liter, four cylinder turbo diesel is EPA rated at 31 mpg on the highway. The
Colorado and its GMC Canyon twin will also get 29 mpg on the highway for its 4x4 models. Not

The Ram model is the first light duty pickup with a diesel offered in about 15 years. Only heavy duty
models have offered diesel variants, trucks powered by substantial turbo diesel six or eight cylinder
engines. Moving into diesels will give GM an immediate edge as neither Toyota nor Nissan have such
choices available. Toyota is the undisputed segment leader and with its most recent update it should
easily retain its position. But, for customers desiring the ultimate in pulling power up to 7,700 pounds
in 4x2 trucks equipped with the trailering package and engine longevity, the GM diesels are certain to
thrive. The Colorado Duramax diesel is in a league of its own, said Sandor Piszar, director of
Chevrolet Truck Marketing. Colorado s gas models already led the segment in fuel efficiency, and the
new diesel which no other non GM competitor offers on a midsize truck gives customers even greater
freedom to go where they want with fewer fill ups. That range is an estimated 651 miles for the trucks
21 gallon fuel tank. The trucks are also flex fuel capable, designed to take B20 fuel 20 percent

The Creation Of New Inventions
If people are the same, can the creation of new inventions come into existence? How can society and
individuals improve if there are no differences? In fact, innovation comes from the mind, but the
uniqueness of people has led to these creations. Ever since the first incandescent lightbulb to the
present age of rockets and computers, these inventions are what have helped society progress forward
into a new era of life. However, how can people comprehend that a single person has created a
complex innovation? To explain, a quote describing how to succeed in inventing while facing several
obstacles is the analogy of the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins,
not through strength but by perseverance ( A quote by H. Jackson Brown Jr. ). Going into detail, to
overcome an obstacle does not mean physical strength is necessary to succeed, but through mental
qualities is where success truly appears. For instance, making mistakes on a test can motivate a person
to persevere and improve on the exam. Nevertheless, its creation comes from individuals, but not all
humans can invent a revolutionizing innovation. Why? The characteristics of a person are how an
invention is born. Inventors, such as Thomas Edison, did not revolutionize the world by sheer
strength, but by their mental capabilities to achieve what they wanted to present to the world. That is
their persona. People s persona shows the aspect of their character and the presentation of who they

The Battle Of Britain Is Regarded As The Most Famous...
The Battle of Britain is regarded as the most famous military engagement of World War II. The fall of
France in June 1940 to Nazi Germany not only left Britain as the only European power working
actively against the Germans but also left them vulnerable to bombing campaigns launched from
Northern France, having only to travel twenty five miles across the English Channel to reach targets in
south east England1. The quick surrender of France allowed German forces to direct their attention
towards Britain. Although Hitler had publicly stated a desire to negotiate peace terms with Britain,
preparations had been made for an amphibious invasion of the British Isles, codenamed Operation
Sealion2. German High Command was aware of the fact that ... Show more content on

The Battle of Britain marked a major turning point in the war, akin to the Battle of Moscow in the
east, as it was the first time the German advance had been stopped. Had Britain fallen to the Third
Reich during the summer of 1940, the repercussions would have been enormous. Hitler would have
completed his conquest of Europe; there would have been no possibility of an invasion on the beaches
of Normandy, enabling Hitler to dedicate more resources for Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the
Soviet Union. The invention of radar, known as Radio Direction Finding (RDF) at the time, by the
Department of Scientific and Industrial research in 1934 initially allowed aircraft to be detected at a
distance of thirty eight miles. By 1937, improvements to RDF had enabled it to see aircraft at a range
of one hundred miles, complete with the bearing of enemy aircraft4. The British recognized the
potential of RDF to be used simultaneously with other electronic and communication aids to provide
an early detecting system. The development of an early warning system was essential to the British
war effort due to the length of the coastline being so close to enemy occupied territory, with important
commercial, industrial and military centres well within the range of enemy aircraft5. An early warning
system also had two distinct advantages over traditional aircraft patrolling of the British coastline. It

The 4th Amendment In The Fourth Amendment
All counter terrorism efforts potentially violate the 4th Amendment because First of all, I think that
they violate the 4th amendment science It is proved that they kind of disrespect the privacy of others
by making certain agreements with other people to get information from anywhere that people didn t
know that they were getting. Another reason that can prove that they violated the 4th Amendment is
that before this program called PRISM came out the government would go and ask for permission to
get any type of information but after this program came out It turned out that everything was a secret.
Also basically everything about getting people s information was a secret until one day a man called
Edward Snowden came out with this point of privacy and he had to end up leaving the country and
hiding because the government disagreed with his opinions for a reason. This letter will attempt to the

Conflict Styles With Face Negotiation Theory
Conflict Styles With Face Negotiation Theory
Introduction:
In many aspects of our life, it is pervasive to work in a team. No matter in company, school, or another
type of team it is necessary to be a part of a team and to achieve a team goal by corporations. People
join a team with different personalities, goals, values, beliefs and needs. On the one hand, these
differences can be a valuable quality of teams. On the other hand, these same differences inevitably
lead to different levels of conflicts as well. This paper analyzed the conflicts communication by styles
and types of conflict. There are five distinct types of conflicts, while this paper will only focus on
collaboration conflict style and accommodating conflict style. These two types of conflict styles are
more useful under corporative work environment. Additionally, my personal best and worst team
experiences respectively illustrated how collaboration effective for my team work, and how overly
accommodation influence my corporate outcomes. This paper is designed to offer a better
understanding about conflicts styles, and intercultural communication and conflict within
organizations. In terms of the paper structure, first, this paper gave a short explanation about the
conflict styles. Then, some related concepts of Face Negotiation Theory explored in this paper as well.
Additionally, it evaluated the effectiveness/ineffectiveness of collaboration conflict style and
accommodating conflict styles in organizations.

Bystander Research Paper
A. The term bystander refers to the phenomenon in which the greater the numbers of people present,
the less likely people are to help a person in distress. When an emergency situation occurs, observers
are more likely to take action if there are few or no other witnesses, but in other cases the observers
are most likely to be ignorant either because they don t want to intervene or feel as if it s not there
responsibility to take action.
B. Bystander is important because it s safe for people to know the actions certain people make, they

people can see that there are others around who are witnessing the incidents, everybody thinks perhaps

people in different ways. This is why people try to avoid getting involved in a dangerous situation.
Conclusion:
Furthermore, the bystander effect has impact our society because now in present days people are too
afraid to react to the things that may be surrounding them throughout their neighborhoods. Many
people possibly think it is wrong to help others when they are witnesses of the bystander. Most people
will make excuses such as It was all unclear I didn t know what was going on . In most cases it is right

Iris Marion Young s Birdcage
Iris Marion Young in her famous birdcage metaphor depicts how a system of laws, institutions, and
practices function as a system in order to restrict the social freedom of minorities (Alexander 184).
Drawing from examples in certain sociology novels, I will exhibit how the wires of the birdcage work
together to subordinate minorities to the bottom of a racial hierarchy. Furthermore, I will demonstrate
why individuals like Dr. Gregorry McGriff feel like they need to go through life at 55 MPH.
In the 1980s millions of people in inner city communities, predominantly minorities were left
unemployed due to deindustrialization and the outsourcing of manufacturing jobs. As explained in the

Women in the inner cities were forced to join the workforce in order to fill the financial void left by
the absent men of the communities (Collins and Mayer 27). However, unlike the factory jobs that paid
a living wage and provided benefits to its employees, these service sector jobs were under the terms of
the solitary wage bargain (Class Lecture 1/19/16). Under these new terms, the women in these jobs
were assumed to be ideal workers, meaning that they were given rigid schedules and paid minimum
wage with no benefits. Unfortunately, these low income women had children to take care of and
families to support on their own, so they often sought out public assistance to make ends meet.
However, the welfare to work reform can be considered another wire in the birdcage because it left
many poor minorities lacking the assistance they desperately needed. Its goal to reduce caseloads
afforded caseworkers the ability to discriminate among needy women based on race (Collins and
Mayer 60). Additionally, as Alexander explains, the reformed welfare program barred individuals with
drug related felony convictions from receiving federally funded assistance, (157). So, when the
African American men were out of prison, they couldn t receive Welfare to help support their children
or families. This policy, alongside others, serves to keep minorities in an inferior racial

As quoted directly from the website (How to teach mind mapping and how to make a mind map) the
authors have listed the following as key benefits when using Mind mapping in the educational
environment.
Mind mapping can
Help students brainstorm and explore any idea, concept, or problem
Facilitate better understanding of relationships and connections between ideas and concepts
Make it easy to communicate new ideas and thought processes
Allow students to easily recall information
Help students take notes and plan tasks
Make it easy to organize ideas and concepts
David Kelly who is the founder of IDEO explains that mind maps allow him to associate freely and
that it is an excellent tool to prompt you to ask questions, exposing relationships between previously
unforseen concepts (Kelley 2006).
Quoted directly from (Kelley 2006) David also goes on to say, The cool thing is that you allow

How Did Religion Change Throughout The 16th Century
Throughout the sixteenth century, religion was the main focus of society. The corruption of the
Catholic church led to reformation. Through this reformation of religion, it created rifts in society,
hence outbreak of religious wars. During the Protestant reformation, the monarchy was the most
influential system that affected the European wars of the sixteenth century. Economically, Spain s
wars with just about every nearby country left it economically struggling. Inflation was high due to the
large amounts of Gold and Silver found in the new world. War was expensive and detrimental to the
Spanish economy. These wars were both religious and territorial in nature.
Politically, it is a redistribution of power and land. Up until this point, Spain was advancing in the race
for power. They had land in the new world as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Henry s death, his son, Edward VI takes over. He was brought of with protestant tutors so the religion
of the Kingdom swinged towards protestantism. Edward was a sickly boy and died soon after. The
next in line to rule was Mary I. She received her nickname of Bloody Mary for a good reason. She
persecuted all that were protestant. Under her reign religion swinged back to Catholicism but not for
long. The final heir to the Tudor throne was Elizabeth I. She was the first to be religiously moderate in

compromise. She started with the Elizabethan Religious Settlement in attempts to regain control.

The Importance Of Bullpens In Baseball
Throughout the past few seasons, bullpens have been one of the most popular topics in baseball.
Aroldis Chapman, Andrew Miller, and Mark Melancon headlined the 2016 MLB trade deadline, as
front offices were desperate for impact relievers. Unsurprisingly, the trend has continued into 2017,
and the Washington Nationals are desperate to bolster their bullpen at the trade deadline. According to
Jon Morosi of MLB.com, the Nationals are showing interest in Cincinnati Reds closer Rasiel Iglesias,
who could be a popular target for teams this month. Due to the shortage of relievers on the market
right now, teams will be desperate for help. Iglesias may not have the longest track record, but he s

A combination of different injuries and consistent underperformance, has left Washington with the
worst bullpen ERA in the MLB, at 5.19. The Nationals are chasing a championship this season, and
Iglesias may be the key towards rebuilding their bullpen. Morosi listed the Texas Rangers as possible
competition for Washington, due to the team s inability to close out games with Matt Bush. Both
organizations have the depth to make a move for Iglesias, even after dealing some of their top
prospects. The Reds could possibly have a bidding war on their hands, if the front office uses its
leverage wisely. Dating back to the offseason, Washington has been linked to different relievers, such
as David Robertson, Kelvin Herrera, and A.J. Ramos. While Herrera seems unlikely to be dealt, due to
Kansas City s resurgence, Robertson and Ramos could be paired with Iglesias to form a dangerous
bullpen. One arm isn t going to save the Nationals in 2017. Unfortunately, it won t be newly signed
veterans Francisco Rodriguez and Kevin Jepsen, either. This trade deadline will dictate Washington s
ceiling down the stretch, and if the front office even hesitates a bit, 2017 will be considered another
disappointing season for Nationals

Attention In Meinke s Advice To My Son
The typical American dream consists of a white picket fence, a beautiful house, and a perfect family,
but would that dream continue to exist with constricting economic and behavioral factors? More
specifically, would a child s quality of life be disturbed by these issues? From day one, society is told
that all they need to have a happy, successful life are the bare necessities, but recent studies and
personal accounts have proven otherwise. The fragileness that surrounds a child s life has the
opportunity to be influenced by outside, powerful forces such as a a parent s marital status, income,
and devotion. Parents are given the role of a caretaker when they introduce a new being into the
world; however, an increasing number of parents are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an infant, a child will wail out until their caretaker tends to their needs, so attention seeking is an
attribute they are born with. However, when a child does receive this attention, they form a closer
relationship with their parents. An occurrence of this happens in the short story Advice to My Son,
when the father gives his son life changing advice. The father gives his son the advice to live his days
as fruitful as possible and to make them last (Meinke 1 5). Without the closeness of this relationship,
the father would not have given his son the meaningful advice, so the son would not repeat his
mistakes. Having hope for his son, the father is able to relate, and it is because the father cares for his
child and the child s wellbeing. According to The Urban Child Institute, ...parents and caregivers
provide their young children with essential experiences that set a stable foundation for future health,
social and emotional well being and academic achievement (A Parent s Attention is the Greatest Gift
to Child). If a child were left in the forest with nobody to take care of him or her, they would surely
succumb to their demise. Without a parent or a parent s love and affection, a child can not function the
proper way it was made to. They need a teacher to help guide them through life and help them to

Essay about George Washington Plunkitt of Tammany Hall
George Washington Plunkitt of Tammany Hall
Everybody is talkin these days about Tammany men growin rich on graft, but nobody thinks of drawin
the distinction between honest graft and dishonest graft. With this sentence in the first chapter Plunkitt
sets the tone for his short treatise on New York City politics while Tammany Hall ran the show.
George Washington Plunkitt was a senator in New York during the turn of the 19th Century to the 20th
Century. He was very successful in politics, and at one time he held four offices at once and collected
salaries from three of them. G. W. Plunkitt held any one (or more offices) in Tammany Hall for over

Before civil service reform, elected officials could easily remove anti Tammany city employees and
replace them with Tammany supporters in return for their work during the campaign. This sort of
spoils system encouraged young people to get involved with politics and to love their country.
According to Plunkitt (and he gives many examples) after civil service examinations young men
become anarchists or in the worst case one joins the Spanish army and actually fights against the same
men he used to support and love. Not only did this spoils system encourage young people, it also
helped hold the United States party system together. And that, according to Plunkitt, would all change
if supporters were not rewarded with government jobs for their work. However, the Civil Service act
of 1883 did more to instigate the merit system in politics than anything else. Plunkitt s arguments
against the civil service reforms are amusing but his generalities make his argument difficult to
believe. One would assume that Plunkitt s motivation for attacking civil service was because of his
personal motivation not the reasons presented in his Very Plain Talks on Very Practical Politics.
Plunkitt clearly was a politician for himself and his supporters, in all he cared very little about the
welfare of New York City as a whole. Other than the curse of civil service, Plunkitt also instructed
young men on the tactics and

Confederate Monuments And Confederate Monuments
Dead and Alive We think of the word history as a series of past events that were significant in the
making of the world we live in now. Along with history, came certain monuments that were built to
symbolize the history of our upcoming. A certain kind of monument in particular that has made our
world look at history in a negative way was the building of Confederate monuments. Confederate
monuments came in the 1960 s while the Civil War was occurring (PolitiFact, and Joy Reid MSNBC
Analyst. Did Confederate symbols proliferate in the civil rights era? @Politifact, 15 Aug. 2017). A

support white supremacy because it causes our nation to remember a time when white supremacy was
the correct way of thinking. By taking down the Confederate monuments, we are allowing
discrimination to be taken away, to become one nation, and to get rid of white supremacy. Raise the

The Supernatural in The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
If you can get past most of the superficial and unlikeable characters in The Picture of Dorian Gray,
this story does indeed have its place in the horror genre. While I understand the setting and the
characters were a reflection of the actual class distinctions during the Victorian time period, I found
the shallowness and narcissism of Dorian Gray and his circle of acquaintances tedious. Fops came to
mind more than once along with don t these people have a purpose other than to dine out and indulge
themselves? Even the women were for the most part portrayed as imbeciles. It almost hurt to read the

It is interesting to note that he doesn t ask for it to show his sins, only take on his aging. The painting
gets progressively more horrible throughout the story, but it is not just aging it shows, it seems to
portray an awful decay. Dorian uses a mirror to compare himself to the painting (one that Lord Henry
gave him) and seems to take pleasure in his corruption: ...looking now at the evil and aging face on the
canvas, and now at the fair young face that laughed back at him from the polished glass. The very
sharpness of the contrast used to quicken his sense of pleasure. He grew more and more enamored of
his own beauty, more and more interested in the corruption of his own soul ... wondering sometimes
which were the more horrible, the signs of sin or the signs of age (Wilde 106). The use of the mirror
further points out his narcissism. This is also the same mirror that he crushes under his feet the night
he tries to kill the painting. The devil is suggested a couple of times (and I may have missed more
instances). Once by the woman at the bar talking to James Vane: They say he has sold himself to the
devil for a pretty face (Wilde 160). I think the more important reference was by Basil Hallward in
viewing the painting the night Dorian killed him: Christ! What a thing I must have worshipped! It has
the eyes of a devil (Wilde 131). Last but not least is the role Lord Henry played with the corruption

The Standpoint Theory On Human Relationships
The standpoint theory is an approach that seeks to demystify subjects concerning human relationships.
Such relations occur within diverse environments that influence though processes and the subsequent
perception of life. Further, this body of knowledge regards the manner in which authority is vested in
individuals within various forms of social systems. The standpoint theory provides that individual
perspectives are molded by their experiences. Additionally, this touches on the aspects of people s
political environments as they strive to exist within their habitat sustainably. Individual environments
affect the manner in which people interact with each other (Hägerstraand, 1970). Various determinants
come into play when social structures are established. Ethnicity has been found to be a substantial
factor that affects the establishment of connections between people from various backgrounds. Social
classes create the distinction between people s perspective of the world (Marton, 1980). Critically,
people with privilege have particular attributes that place them above the persons they oppress.
Structurally, human societies are established by sets of institutions. These institutions vary in
relevance and scope. Important social institutions include education systems, the law and religion.
People perform daily activities based on the various notions they hold about the societies they occur.
Society serves various functions. First, it controls people s behavior and thus the

The Impact Of The Mental Health Act
The Mental Health Act R.S.O. (1990) is a comprehensive piece of provincial legislation which
regulates mental health care in Ontario. Although it can be assumed that the legislation applies to all
mental health services and supports (Schizophrenic Society of Ontario, 2013), the laws described in
the Mental Health Act ( MHA ) apply only to psychiatric units in hospitals, and specialized psychiatric
facilities within the province (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health [CAMH], 2012), and to the
patients who are under observation, care or treatment in these facilities or under a community
treatment order (Mental Health Act, 1990). Although amendments have been made (Ontario. Ministry
of Health and Long Term Care, 2015), there are issues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These amendments include references to disordered behaviour, thought, or perception that severely
impairs judgement or capacity, of which psychiatric intervention is advised (Involuntary Psychiatric
Treatment Act, 2005). The broad definition contained within the MHA leaves the term mental disorder
open to interpretation, which may result in inconsistencies among Ontario psychiatric admissions.
According to the Mental Health Act (1990), a community treatment order offers a less restrictive
alternative to being held in a psychiatric unit or facility. Introduced to the MHA in 2000, a community
treatment order is a comprehensive plan of community based care that sets out the criteria for the
management and treatment of psychiatric outpatients (Byrick, K., Walker Renshaw, B., 2016).
However, research by Mfoafo M Carthy and Williams (2010) has suggested that community treatment
orders are unethical. Under a community treatment order, treatment typically requires an individual to
comply with medications that a physician believes is necessary for their normal function in the
community (Ontario. Ministry of Heath and Long Term Care, 2016). The MHA has been termed
unconstitutional based on its violation of the human right to life and liberty by mandating that an
individual participate in outpatient treatment (Picard, 2013), including medication compliance.
Apprehensions under the MHA attempt to divert an individual with a mental

How Did Queen Elizabeth 1 Make England A Better Place
Queen Elizabeth 1: Made England a better place As Queen Elizabeth arrived at the Tower of London
she said Her lands as true as a subject, being prisoner, as ever landing at these stairs. Before Thee, O
God, I speak it, having none other friends but Thee alone (Elizabeth i quotes.) This quote shows that
Queen Elizabeth was very lonely and innocent at the Tower of London as a prisoner. Queen Elizabeth
1 made England a better place while in rule. Before becoming Queen, Elizabeth was a princess. On
September 7, 1533 Queen Elizabeth was born to a King and Queen in England (Biography queen

art of public speaking, which was most significant later in her life (Biography queen elizabeth 1). ...

To Her Father With None
The poem To her father with some verses by Anne Bradstreet details a women s attempt to show
praise for her father while being unable repay him all that he has done for her. The first thing that
initially hits the reader is the tone of the poem. The first few lines paint an overall sad atmosphere that
continually engulfs the reader as the poem continues. The conclusion fo the poem leaves the reader in
a depressed state knowing that no matter what the women in the poem does, she can never repay what
her father has done for her. Add this with the fact the narrator mentions she plans to continue this
repayment until the day she dies. These ideas offer a similar take on Puritan culture. Puritan families

Ester Lucero Essay
Cassie Essary Tim Petete Ethnic American Literature November 12, 2009 Angel s Psyche in Ester
Lucero One of the most fascinating aspects of any story is the formation of it scharacters. The way the
author chooses to describe them, give them personalities, is how the reader will see their lives. A
character s psyche and the way he thinks about events around him change the way a reader perceives
the story. Authors have an amazing chance to shape and bend a story to fit what they want it to be
through the characterization of the people they write about. If an author is incapable of making
characters believable and understandable, the story won t survive. In Isabel Allende s Ester Lucero ,
Angel is described in a way that makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, Angel seems to have fixated on Ester as a way of getting past his ownproblems. Ester became
something that he desperately wanted, but could never allow himself to have. She was a child, and he
would not allow himself to touch her for that reason, and because his obsession with her is what keeps
him going. Ester became the focus of all his attention so he didn t have to deal with anything else in
his life. Another issue with Angel is the fact that he has a bullet in his groin. The women of the town
question his masculinity and begin to wonder if maybe the malaria or that bullet he has there in his
crotch rid him forever of a taste for women (Pearson 10). They don t realize that he has become
completely engrossed with Ester and therefore uninterested in the other women of the town. Since
Angel does have a bullet in his groin, and purposefully chose an unavailable girl to fixate on, it makes
the reader wonder if the bullet did cause some sort of dysfunction. Perhaps the reason that Angel
deliberately chose a girl that he could never have was because he knew women wouldn t want him if
they knew that he was impotent. Early on, when it is Angel s turn with a bride for the moment he
found no consolation ...he would have to search for that girl, if for no other reason than to determine
whether she was a mirage (Pearson 9). This passage

Law As A Member Of Congress Essay
Law in the United States is created by starting as an idea from many places including a Member of
Congress, a Members constituents, as well as the President of the United States or a private group. A
bill can also be introduced by placing it into the hopper during the active session of Congress. The
bills can be formed by either the Senate or the House of Representatives, except for bills for revenue
or appropriation which start in The House of Representatives. A bill will either be private
immigrations and naturalization, claims against the U.S., or public issues to do with the public.
Regardless of which house creates and presents the final proposed bill, the process they follow is
identical. The initial draft of the bill is written and the clerk will assign it a number proceeded by an S

The committee will review the bill and make any changes if necessary. It will then be scheduled for
presentation to the Senate or the House of Representatives for debate, amendments, and put up for
vote. Sometimes a bill can be affected by a filibuster which may prevent it from going to vote. If it
passes by a majority vote, at least 218 from the House of Representatives, and at least 51 from the
Senate, it then becomes an engrossed bill. Next the bill is presented to be voted by congress and if
approved by the majority vote, it is sent to the president where it is either signed and becomes a law,
or it is vetoed. If the President vetoes the bill it can still become a law if congress votes with 2/3 to

not signing it into a law or vetoing it, the bill will also become a

How Did The Cabaret Influence The Civil Rights Movement
The social issues of 1960 s America allowed open homosexuality for the usage as mass entertainment,
although the initial screening of the musical Cabaret did not quite dare to openly use homosexual
characters and themes, having only joking mentions and subtle themes to reference, such as the song
Two Ladies where in the Emcee dances with two women, singing of sharing a bed. The initial
screening of the musical came before the sexual revolution of homosexuality took place, just three
years before the Stonewall riots of 1969. However, Cabaret did use the reclaiming of past culture,
such as 1930 s Berlin, in order to comment on the present circumstances of the 1960 s Civil Rights
Movement in America, and how much these two eras had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Homosexuality had become increasingly accepted in many forms, and had survived the AIDS crisis
that had so began with decimating its population. The main character Cliff would have more of a focus
in this re adaptation, his own sexual past with others, known to be slow with women due to his clear
attract[ion] to men. The musical itself also demonstrated a much more overt sexuality; with the
Emcee, played by Alan Cumming, displaying sexual exhibitionism with groping other actors, himself,
and using pelvic thrusts and groin movement[s] to radicalize the musical even further to create an
atmosphere that suited their present context and drew the audience into the story, even through
uncomforting them with such behavior. This musical, one of the most recent adaptations of Isherwood
s original work, certainly creates a connection between the time of its creation and the context it acts
out, with the sexual overtones of recent years receding in the finale of the musical, as the Emcee
reveals his concentration camp uniform that beings audiences to difficult realizations of how possible
such atrocities did and still can occur

Five Forces Analysis-US Express Mail Industry Essay
Question 1 asked to complete a five forces analysis of the US Express Mail Industry. A five forces
analysis is done to rate the attractiveness of an industry.
Threat of new entry is low because the barriers to entry are high. Newcomers to the industry would
require an enormous amount of up front capital to set up the distribution networks and infrastructure,
such as establishing hubs, and acquiring aircraft and a large amount of ground transportation vehicles
(vans, trucks, ect). Economies of scale are significant and would deter new firms from entering
because initial sales volumes would be low do to the fact that existing brands already have strong
brand identification, and there are no cost advantages to entering, like government ... Show more

The airports and the aircraft suppliers aren t only relying on the express mail industry, so that also
gives those suppliers more power to charge what they want (landing fees, cost of planes). Ground
transportation vehicles is the only input that would allow for more bargaining power since there are
numerous alternatives available, there is more room for the industry players to negotiate price.
The availability of substitutes is medium mainly because there aren t a large number of substitutes out
there for express mail outside of the industry. Most next day deliveries are business documents,
parcels, letters, ect, not typically cargo. So substitutes could include email and faxes, both are faster
and cheaper than express mailing. Depending on the nature of the business, video conferencing or the
old fashion telephone could be used. If the parcel is going somewhere local maybe could use bike
messengers, or just hand deliver. There are also the second tier players, like RPS, DHL and TNT,
while they are still in the delivery industry; they tend to specialize in areas other than express mail.
With RPS, it is second day service at 40 50% less, and a business that does a large amount of overseas
or international express shipments may want to substitute with DHL or TNT, who specialize and
differentiate themselves in the international market.

  • 2. Gm s Argumentative Analysis A positive spotlight shines on the GMC Canyon and the Chevrolet Colorado, a pair of midsize pickup trucks with an available turbo diesel engine. In light of the Volkswagen diesel scandal, GM has managed to undergo extra scrutiny of its new to the US market turbo diesel engine and has emerged with both its reputation and its mileage claims intact. Indeed, the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado 4x2 equipped with a 2.8 liter, four cylinder turbo diesel is EPA rated at 31 mpg on the highway. The Colorado and its GMC Canyon twin will also get 29 mpg on the highway for its 4x4 models. Not Scandalized by Volkswagen GM was preparing for EPA testing when the Volkswagen scandal broke in September. In response, the EPA noted that it would pay extra special ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Ram model is the first light duty pickup with a diesel offered in about 15 years. Only heavy duty models have offered diesel variants, trucks powered by substantial turbo diesel six or eight cylinder engines. Moving into diesels will give GM an immediate edge as neither Toyota nor Nissan have such choices available. Toyota is the undisputed segment leader and with its most recent update it should easily retain its position. But, for customers desiring the ultimate in pulling power up to 7,700 pounds in 4x2 trucks equipped with the trailering package and engine longevity, the GM diesels are certain to thrive. The Colorado Duramax diesel is in a league of its own, said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet Truck Marketing. Colorado s gas models already led the segment in fuel efficiency, and the new diesel which no other non GM competitor offers on a midsize truck gives customers even greater freedom to go where they want with fewer fill ups. That range is an estimated 651 miles for the trucks 21 gallon fuel tank. The trucks are also flex fuel capable, designed to take B20 fuel 20 percent biodiesel and 80 percent straight ... • 3. The Creation Of New Inventions If people are the same, can the creation of new inventions come into existence? How can society and individuals improve if there are no differences? In fact, innovation comes from the mind, but the uniqueness of people has led to these creations. Ever since the first incandescent lightbulb to the present age of rockets and computers, these inventions are what have helped society progress forward into a new era of life. However, how can people comprehend that a single person has created a complex innovation? To explain, a quote describing how to succeed in inventing while facing several obstacles is the analogy of the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins, not through strength but by perseverance ( A quote by H. Jackson Brown Jr. ). Going into detail, to overcome an obstacle does not mean physical strength is necessary to succeed, but through mental qualities is where success truly appears. For instance, making mistakes on a test can motivate a person to persevere and improve on the exam. Nevertheless, its creation comes from individuals, but not all humans can invent a revolutionizing innovation. Why? The characteristics of a person are how an invention is born. Inventors, such as Thomas Edison, did not revolutionize the world by sheer strength, but by their mental capabilities to achieve what they wanted to present to the world. That is their persona. People s persona shows the aspect of their character and the presentation of who they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Battle Of Britain Is Regarded As The Most Famous... The Battle of Britain is regarded as the most famous military engagement of World War II. The fall of France in June 1940 to Nazi Germany not only left Britain as the only European power working actively against the Germans but also left them vulnerable to bombing campaigns launched from Northern France, having only to travel twenty five miles across the English Channel to reach targets in south east England1. The quick surrender of France allowed German forces to direct their attention towards Britain. Although Hitler had publicly stated a desire to negotiate peace terms with Britain, preparations had been made for an amphibious invasion of the British Isles, codenamed Operation Sealion2. German High Command was aware of the fact that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Battle of Britain marked a major turning point in the war, akin to the Battle of Moscow in the east, as it was the first time the German advance had been stopped. Had Britain fallen to the Third Reich during the summer of 1940, the repercussions would have been enormous. Hitler would have completed his conquest of Europe; there would have been no possibility of an invasion on the beaches of Normandy, enabling Hitler to dedicate more resources for Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union. The invention of radar, known as Radio Direction Finding (RDF) at the time, by the Department of Scientific and Industrial research in 1934 initially allowed aircraft to be detected at a distance of thirty eight miles. By 1937, improvements to RDF had enabled it to see aircraft at a range of one hundred miles, complete with the bearing of enemy aircraft4. The British recognized the potential of RDF to be used simultaneously with other electronic and communication aids to provide an early detecting system. The development of an early warning system was essential to the British war effort due to the length of the coastline being so close to enemy occupied territory, with important commercial, industrial and military centres well within the range of enemy aircraft5. An early warning system also had two distinct advantages over traditional aircraft patrolling of the British coastline. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The 4th Amendment In The Fourth Amendment All counter terrorism efforts potentially violate the 4th Amendment because First of all, I think that they violate the 4th amendment science It is proved that they kind of disrespect the privacy of others by making certain agreements with other people to get information from anywhere that people didn t know that they were getting. Another reason that can prove that they violated the 4th Amendment is that before this program called PRISM came out the government would go and ask for permission to get any type of information but after this program came out It turned out that everything was a secret. Also basically everything about getting people s information was a secret until one day a man called Edward Snowden came out with this point of privacy and he had to end up leaving the country and hiding because the government disagreed with his opinions for a reason. This letter will attempt to the 4th Amendment by proving how all counter terrorism efforts potentially violated privacy. Drawing from examples in certain sociology novels, I will exhibit how the wires of the birdcage work together to subordinate minorities to the bottom of a racial hierarchy. Furthermore, I will demonstrate why individuals like Dr. Gregorry McGriff feel like they need to go through life at 55 MPH. In the 1980s millions of people in inner city communities, predominantly minorities were left unemployed due to deindustrialization and the outsourcing of manufacturing jobs. As explained in the New Jim Crow The decline in legitimate opportunities among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women in the inner cities were forced to join the workforce in order to fill the financial void left by the absent men of the communities (Collins and Mayer 27). However, unlike the factory jobs that paid a living wage and provided benefits to its employees, these service sector jobs were under the terms of the solitary wage bargain (Class Lecture 1/19/16). Under these new terms, the women in these jobs were assumed to be ideal workers, meaning that they were given rigid schedules and paid minimum wage with no benefits. Unfortunately, these low income women had children to take care of and families to support on their own, so they often sought out public assistance to make ends meet. However, the welfare to work reform can be considered another wire in the birdcage because it left many poor minorities lacking the assistance they desperately needed. Its goal to reduce caseloads afforded caseworkers the ability to discriminate among needy women based on race (Collins and Mayer 60). Additionally, as Alexander explains, the reformed welfare program barred individuals with drug related felony convictions from receiving federally funded assistance, (157). So, when the African American men were out of prison, they couldn t receive Welfare to help support their children or families. This policy, alongside others, serves to keep minorities in an inferior racial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both organizations have the depth to make a move for Iglesias, even after dealing some of their top prospects. The Reds could possibly have a bidding war on their hands, if the front office uses its leverage wisely. Dating back to the offseason, Washington has been linked to different relievers, such as David Robertson, Kelvin Herrera, and A.J. Ramos. While Herrera seems unlikely to be dealt, due to Kansas City s resurgence, Robertson and Ramos could be paired with Iglesias to form a dangerous bullpen. According to the Mental Health Act (1990), a community treatment order offers a less restrictive alternative to being held in a psychiatric unit or facility. Introduced to the MHA in 2000, a community treatment order is a comprehensive plan of community based care that sets out the criteria for the management and treatment of psychiatric outpatients (Byrick, K., Walker Renshaw, B., 2016). • 30. How Did The Cabaret Influence The Civil Rights Movement The social issues of 1960 s America allowed open homosexuality for the usage as mass entertainment, although the initial screening of the musical Cabaret did not quite dare to openly use homosexual characters and themes, having only joking mentions and subtle themes to reference, such as the song Two Ladies where in the Emcee dances with two women, singing of sharing a bed. The initial screening of the musical came before the sexual revolution of homosexuality took place, just three years before the Stonewall riots of 1969. However, Cabaret did use the reclaiming of past culture, such as 1930 s Berlin, in order to comment on the present circumstances of the 1960 s Civil Rights Movement in America, and how much these two eras had ... The main character Cliff would have more of a focus in this re adaptation, his own sexual past with others, known to be slow with women due to his clear attract[ion] to men. The musical itself also demonstrated a much more overt sexuality; with the Emcee, played by Alan Cumming, displaying sexual exhibitionism with groping other actors, himself, and using pelvic thrusts and groin movement[s] to radicalize the musical even further to create an atmosphere that suited their present context and drew the audience into the story, even through uncomforting them with such behavior. This musical, one of the most recent adaptations of Isherwood s original work, certainly creates a connection between the time of its creation and the context it acts out, with the sexual overtones of recent years receding in the finale of the musical, as the Emcee reveals his concentration camp uniform that beings audiences to difficult realizations of how possible such atrocities did and still can occur ... A five forces analysis is done to rate the attractiveness of an industry. Threat of new entry is low because the barriers to entry are high. Newcomers to the industry would require an enormous amount of up front capital to set up the distribution networks and infrastructure, such as establishing hubs, and acquiring aircraft and a large amount of ground transportation vehicles (vans, trucks, ect). Economies of scale are significant and would deter new firms from entering because initial sales volumes would be low do to the fact that existing brands already have strong brand identification, and there are no cost advantages to entering, like government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The airports and the aircraft suppliers aren t only relying on the express mail industry, so that also gives those suppliers more power to charge what they want (landing fees, cost of planes). Ground transportation vehicles is the only input that would allow for more bargaining power since there are numerous alternatives available, there is more room for the industry players to negotiate price. The availability of substitutes is medium mainly because there aren t a large number of substitutes out there for express mail outside of the industry. Most next day deliveries are business documents, parcels, letters, ect, not typically cargo. So substitutes could include email and faxes, both are faster and cheaper than express mailing. Depending on the nature of the business, video conferencing or the old fashion telephone could be used. If the parcel is going somewhere local maybe could use bike messengers, or just hand deliver. There are also the second tier players, like RPS, DHL and TNT, while they are still in the delivery industry; they tend to specialize in areas other than express mail. With RPS, it is second day service at 40 50% less, and a business that does a large amount of overseas or international express shipments may want to substitute with DHL or TNT, who specialize and differentiate themselves in the international market. He saved many people during his career. Naturally, he gained national attention. Columbo was born in Gavelston, Texas. He was born on December 23 in 1905. He was born to an Italian American family. He was one of 8 children. His father died of a heart attack when he was a young boy. In 1912, at the age of 7, LeRoy suffered from spinal meningitis. This caused him to lose the use of both of his legs and his hearing. His brothers then helped him gain the use of his legs back by swimming. After this, he encountered his love of swimming. In 1917, Columbo enrolled in the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin, Texas. He learned ASL here and immersed himself in deaf culture. After staying at the school for 6 years, he came back home to Galveston. He started surfing here being one of the first citizens of Galveston to do so. Columbo was an exceptional swimmer.
