Paying Attention Pays Off for Andra Rush
1. As we have discussed, competency models describe the behaviors and skills managers need to
exhibit if an organization is to be successful. Consider the general competencies found in Figure 7.3
and apply these to Andra Rush, providing examples of how these competencies apply.
Competency models describe the behaviors and skills managers need to exhibit if an organization
is to be successful (Hughes, Ginnett, Curphy, p. 252). In many organizations, competency models
can differ between the different hierarchies of managers. As a person s leadership role evolves so do
the behaviors and skills he or she must possess to be an effective leader. This statement holds firm
as with the case of Andra Rush.
Throughout the case study, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rush also showed adaptability which is the ability to confidently adapt and adjust to changes and
challenges; and the ability to maintain a positive outlook and work constructively under pressure.
She followed through with the idea of forming a trucking company by borrowing monies to
purchase trucks, accepting every job offer, answering the phones, budgeting the books, and
repairing the trucks. This is also evident by the fact Rush can lead a large trucking company, but
also community organizations. Both have different leadership styles which she has to properly
adjust to.
Another competency displayed by Rush is customer focus which is maintaining a clear focus on
customer needs and demonstrating a strong desire to provide exemplary customer service; and
actively seeks ways to increase customer satisfaction. With the formation of the company, Rush
accepted every shipping job, even if she had to drive the trucks herself. She pays attention and
exceeds customer s expectations regardless of circumstances. Such as the case of when local
bridges were shutdown during September 11th attacks, Rush made a crucial shipment by renting a
barge.
2. How does the Leadership Pipeline apply to Andra Rush?
The Leadership Pipeline is a useful model for explaining where leaders need to spend their time,
what they should be focusing on, what they should be letting go, and the

Girls And Girls By Alice Munro
Throughout the course of time, roles in our society towards gender has evolved. In the story Boys
and Girls by Alice Munro relatively has a direct message which is the constant battle of gender
stereotypes. The audience is reading through the point of view of the main character, which is a
girl, and her frustration she feels. Through the young girls experience, Alice Munro is able to show
the readers the role of stereotypes or expectations that a femalehas to fulfill. The main character s
mother believes that the girl is best fit in the kitchen aiding her because she is a female. When
her mother comes in the barn, she tell her father and then I can use her more in the house and
goes on to say I just get my back turned and she runs off. It s not like I had a girl in the family at
all (Munro 143). Her mother makes this statement because she is frustrated by her daughter actions.
She wants her daughter to act similar to a girl and help her in the kitchen instead of doing male
work. From the secondary source entitled Penning in the Bodies: The Construction of Gendered
Subjects in Alice Munro s Boys and Girls by Marlene Goldman she explains the mother behavior in
detailed in this part of the story. Similarly, her mother s behaviour is interpreted, not as an
expression of frustration and disappointment, or loneliness, but as a manifestation of innate
wickedness and petty tyranny (Goldman). Goldman explains that the mother tactics that are used of

The Formation Of A Corporation
Abstract
The formation of a business is generally influenced by motive or strategy that best suits the
business owners. There are four types of business entities that exist and each having different tax
implications. These entities include sole proprietorships, C Corporations (C Corps), S
Corporations (S Corps), and Partnerships. This paper will focus on the advantages and
disadvantages of C Corporations and S Corps and deciding which one makes more sense than the
other.
Formation of a Corporation
A corporation is formed under the laws of the state in which the corporation is registered
(SBA.gov). Corporations can either be a C Corp or an S Corp; in which both have owner
shareholders. Forming a corporation requires establishing and registering your business with
your state government and filing documents named Articles of Incorporation. These documents
are filed with your Secretary of State in order to provide information to the state about your
business and are also made available to the public (SBA.gov). Generally, corporations provide
limited liability for all owners (Sumutka, 2009). A C Corporations is an independent legal entity
that is owned by one or more shareholders and governed by subchapter C of the Internal Revenue
Code. C Corps, not shareholders, are held liable for any actions or debt incurred (SBA.gov).
Shareholders exchange money, property or both for stock in the C Corp. A C Corp is recognized as
a separate entity for federal income tax purposes and is

Infantry March Research Paper
B.H. Roberts quotes Lieutenant Colonel P. St. George Cooke: The Lieutenant Colonel commanding
congratulates the Battalion on their safe arrival on the shores of the Pacific ocean, and the
conclusion of their march of over two thousand miles. History will be searched in vain for an equal
march of infantry. 1 Roberts goes on to say that the only other historical marches that are
comparable with the Mormon Battalions march are Xenophon s and Doniphan s, the former in
ancient, the latter in modern times. 2 The United Stateswas at war with Mexico, and president James
K. Polk requested five hundred Mormon men to help in the war effort. After much discussion,
Mormon leaders, including Brigham Young, agreed the Saints would benefit from accepting the
call. Some of these benefits included such things as military pay, the arms, which the volunteers
could keep, a monetary allotment for uniforms, and government funded transportation west. This
seemed to be an answer to their prayers. What can arguably be considered the longest infantry
march in history officially began July 2o, 1846 on the Little Pony River in Council Bluffs, Iowa....

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch
The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is an accumulation of marine debris in the North Pacific Ocean.
Marine debris is trash that culminates up in oceans, seas, and other sizable voluminous bodies
of dihydrogen monoxide. Its also known as the Eastern Pacific Garbage Patch and the Pacific
Trash Vortex. It s located in a high pressure area between the U.S. states of Hawaii and
California. This area is in the middle of the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre. For many people, the
conception of a garbage patch displays images of an island of trash floating on the ocean. In
reality, these patches are conventionally composed of tiny bits of plastic, called microplastics.
Microplastics that make up the majority of garbage patches can t always be visible.... Show more

In the article, The World s Largest Dump: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, it mentioned that the
UNEP indicates that today 80% of all marine debris that washes ashore such as trash and toxic
matter originally comes from shore based activities such as fun parties at the beaches and picnics.
For example the cups that gets blown off the beach in San fransicso then it finds its way to the
patch. The inland, rivers and streams carry trash to the sea. Marah Hardt who is fellow from the
Blue Ocean Institute, mentions that a lot of people are not aware of the negtive impacts they have
on the ocean because they can t see it. They think its far out there while their waste, garbage
disposals, drainpipes, and sewers lead directly to the ocean. Factories dump and Air pollution seeps
are just examples of how the oceans become pulleted. There is another example of garbage patch
that actually exist for example Western Garbage Patch whish is located on the off coast of Japan.
The Eastern Garbage Patch located between California and Hawaii is the most intresting and
attracts the greatest attention because of its size and the fact that it lies closest to the biggest trash

Research Assignment: High Fructose Corn Syrup
BEWARE: HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP As Americans we are certainly used to opening
our kitchen cabinets and having it be filled with endless food choices. To say the least, we are
certainly blessed as a country to be able to have a wide variety. Although the choices are endless,
unlike other countries, we are unsure of the additives that are being put into our foods. One specific
food additive that is constantly seen in our labels is High Fructose Corn Syrup. High Fructose Corn
Syrup can be defined as a cheap sweetener that is made from corn starch in which it is processed
by glucose isomerase. This specific additive is currently apart of the top eleven most controversial
food additives. High Fructose Corn Syrup, is being blamed for the obesity epidemic in the United
States of America. I am here to prove through research and personal findings, that this is an additive
that we most avoid. But when it comes to sodas and desserts sweetened with high fructose corn
syrup, she believes in abstinence, not moderation (King). High fructose Corn Syrup has become a
growing issue in the United States of America. This is seen through many statistics, one being the
fact that we are the number one country for this usage. The best way High Fructose Corn Syrup
can be described was in the article written by Patricia King entitled, Blaming it on corn syrup; Its

Sex And Gender Are Not Equal
Sex and gender are not equal contrary to common assumption. Sex, as defined by Rosman, is the
physical differences between male and female [based on] biological and anatomical composition of
genitals and secondary sexual characteristics (141). On the other hand, gender is defined as the
culture specific set of behavioral, ideological, and social meanings constructed around the
understandings of these biological and anatomical differences (142). So what does this mean?
Indeed, the assumption of sexequating to genderis not necessarily true because gender is culturally
constructed. Different societies often have different perceptions of what gender is: for instance
North American heteronormative culture in comparison with the gender relationships of people in
Wogeo (minimal differences between men and women) or of the people in Samoa specifically
focusing on the fa afafine.
The film, Paradise Bent, directed by Heather Croall explores part of the world of fa afafines. The fa
afafine of Samoa are their own gender defying the gender binaries of strictly male or female. The
word itself means in the manner of a woman and according to the film, fa afafines are men
playing women s roles yet they are largely accepted by their communities. Mothers of fa afafines
value and love their fa afafine son and appreciate their help around the house. Chief Leutele voices
that he does not like fa afafines acting to fa afafine by wearing skirts and painting their face and

dwarfs changed the direction of the main line of the story and made it more interesting with

reader to imagine them and accept the America as an old country having own ancient traditions.
When dwarfs enjoying the playing ninepins, the greediness shows itself in inside of Rip which
makes him secretly drink the liquor from keg and fall asleep. The greediness of character was
masked under the perfect humor while depicting Rip as an innate thirsty soul [2, p. 14]. All ways

Fall Of Disco
The Rise and Fall of Disco
The birth of Disco had a huge influence on the American culture in the 1970s. It reached far
beyond music and into fashion, club culture, and film. Disco was created in Philadelphia and
New York City in the late 1960s and early 1970s, formed by people in reaction to the popularity
of rock music and the lack of progress of dance music in the late 60s. First heard in nightclubs for
many minority groups including Italians, Latinos, blacks, gays, and hippies, it was embraced by
women, as well as men, and many female entertainers came into fame because of disco music.

Essay on Communication Traits of Happy Couples
There are couples who are happy and there are those who are not. The success rate of marriages
in America has fallen; fifty percent of all marriages will not make it to the end. Fifty percent of
all marriages today, who enter into a lifelong commitment, will end in divorce. In search of a
solution and an explanation researchers have turned to look at couples who are happy and those
who are not, through all stages of a relationship. They have found that many of the traits that begin
in a dating relationship will carry over into a marriage. Researchers have turned to the ways in
which these happy couples communicate and the ways that not so happy couples communicate in

In comparison, conflict that is handled with a more positive tone is associated with greater
happiness in marriage. There is greater marital success and satisfaction when the active listening
model is used, and the message that was sent by the sender is perceived by the receiver the same
way it was intended. It must be noted as well that there are gender differences when it comes to
communication, when a couple is able to realize that men and women process and respond
differently to incoming messages there are less expectations in conflict for a partner to respond in
a certain way. Relational satisfaction is greatly determined by how successful a couple is in
responding to situations which threaten the relationship. When jealousy strikes in a relationship it
can be detrimental to the overall happiness for both the one who is jealous and the significant other.
Jealousy is a threat to any relationship dating, or married. However, when handled with the correct
communication can lead to happier relationships. Handling jealously well is a communicative trait
that leads to happier couples. Jealousy can be caused by different situations depending on the stage
of the dating or married couple, the study of

Children in Hospice
Research suggests that every year there are between 100,000 to 150,000 children born in the
United States with a genetic disorder or defect. This represents approximately 20% of infant deaths
each year. However, many of these children live to age well beyond the expectation, and some are
enrolled in hospice. According to Armstrong Daily and Zarbock (2001), The concept of hospice
today is applied to patients who are traveling through the final stages of their lives in effect seeking
shelter and comfort. Hence, the main focus of this program is to prepare families for the death of a
loved one. Although accepting these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even when hospitalized, parents must be prepared to fight for the right of their child to live
because many medical professionals give the impression that any effort would be useless. Many
parents are even willing to care for the child within the home but there are no resources available
to assist with care other than nursing. This should be a key area for concern as the patient is
expected to live six months in most cases and it is more than enough time to prepare for the child s
death. When that time has passed and the child is still progressing, one is only left to wonder the
next step. At this point, time spent creating memories with family should be top priority.
It is my recommendation that the health care community implement a network of resources for
parents who are not willing to accept and grieve but are willing to accept and fight to prolong the
life of their child. Resources and information should be readily available to assist with any type of
services that would bring relief for situations ranging from housing to therapy. Medical
professionals also should be required to take a course in patient relations giving some insight into
the emotional turmoil that many parents experience. This probably would change some parent s
perception of the medical profession because discretion and empathy would be used when
providing information about the child s condition. Any feelings of hopelessness may be eliminated
and replaced with feelings of relief

ABSTRACT: Brahms s Intermezzo op. 119, no. 3 is structured around a motive with two
components one melodic, one harmonic that operate sometimes separately and sometimes together.
The global harmonic trajectory of the piece is embodied in the combination of these two
components; local harmonic motion proceeds through an expanded LR cycle, with periodic short
cuts from one zone of the cycle to another. The A section unfolds a double tonic complex while

[7] The melodic cell and harmonic progression J and DOWN THIRD UP FIFTH sometimes
occur independently, but for the most part interact to create a larger unit. This larger unit, given
at the bottom of Example 2, is the motive of my title.(8) Again, the fact that the motive is
exclusively diatonic is significant, because it makes the chromatic pitch classes especially
salient. [8] The opening of the piece animates the motive by repeating and varying the duration
of J while arpeggiating the chords of DOWN THIRD UP FIFTH. Example 3 annotates the
melody of m. 1 through the downbeat of m. 3, which fuses together three Js.(9) By fusing
together three Js and altering the duration of the final pitch of each J (the durations are , , and ,
for the three occurrences, respectively), Brahms creates a symmetrical rhythmic structure.(10) The
dots below the staff indicate metric position: two dots indicate a strong beat, one dot a weak
beat.(11) The first J starts on a strong beat and concludes on a weak beat. The third J starts on a

Climate Change. Insurers are central to how we deal, or don t deal, with climate change. They
price the risk facing property owners, and others, from weather events. These companies could
become financially vulnerable if they fail to properly account for the risks they face from climate

when the atmosphere warms up due to the retention of moisture, which can cause more extreme
weather, such as more powerful hurricanes and increased flooding. Damages to this extent could

Analysis Of Gun With Occasional Music
He s a make addict, arrogant, and isn t going to stop unless he gets what he wants.
A private investigator in a futuristic world where animals can talk, and babies are robots. In Gun,
with Occasional Music by Jonathan Lethem, Conrad Metcalf, an ill mannered private investigator,
attempts to reveal the truth in the murder an old client. It may be a lot to take in, but by the end
of this review, you ll see how unorthodox but strangely fascinating this book really is. In my point
of view, this hard boiled novel is a stereotypical agent gone rogue type of circumstance, I also
believe it contains mostly analogies. And finally, the fist fights, karma points, and various drugs
make the book even more interesting. Despite the fact he is the main character, Metcalf sure has
something about him that rubs people the wrong way. Due to the fact he s going against the
system more often than not, he gets caught in a scuffle between other inquisitors that work at his
office. That s because of Orton Angwine, the number one suspect in the Maynard Stanhunt
murder. Orton hires Metcalf to do some digging and prove he s innocent. At first he wasn t
interested, but once he finds out there s a lot behind the story than he thought, he persists.
Because of his forbidden involvement, Metcalf gets in a variety of fights. And after each punch
in the gut, he keeps on his journey to expose the truth. If this book were a movie, I could imagine
a smoky bar. A man sitting in the corner, with a cigar, fedora and a trench coat, or even a jazz
band playing in the background. This book can definitely give you that kind of vibe. And you
might even get lost in that type of setting. If you read this book and find it interesting, it ll be
really difficult to put it down. Even when Conrad Metcalf starts to open up about his feelings,
especially about Delia. Delia Limetree. She is only referenced once in the whole book, but she
definitely strung up a few questions for me. Delia Limetree is a girl who Metcalf dated, or
married, who left him. He explains they had an operation done that swapped their nerve endings,
as well as genitalia. That part didn t make sense at first, then it dawned on me that it was just one
big analogy. Someday I was going

St. Thomas Aquinas Cosmological Argument
Catholic Church:
St. Thomas Aquinas (Cosmological Argument)
In St. Thomas Aquinas s cosmological argument claims the following that the universe exist and its
very existence has a cause and that cause is God. In his unfinished book Summa Theologiae,
Aquinas put forward five ways for the existence of God.
His first way is the argument from motion and by studying the works of Aristotle, the Greek
Philosopher, he concluded from common observation that the planets, rolling stone or any object
that is in motion is put in motion by other forces or object. From this theory, Aquinas believes there
must have been an unmoved mover which is God who sets things in motion. It is certain and
evident that in the world some things are set in motion. Whatever is in motion is put in motion by
another. Therefore, by which it is put in motion must also be put in motion by another and by
another again but this cannot go for infinity because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The final way that St. Thomas Aquinas speaks of has to do with the universe and the order of
nature. Aquinas states that common sense tells us that the universe works in such a way, that one
can conclude that it was designed by an intelligent designer. In other words, all physical laws and
the order of nature and life were designed and ordered by God. Because whatever lacks in
intelligence cannot move towards an end, unless it be directed by some being with knowledge and
intelligence. Some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end, and
this being we call God. This argument by Aquinas is suggesting that inanimate objects such as the
planets could not have placed themselves into the orbits they have, because they lack the
intelligence to do so. Yet they are aligned so perfectly, this must mean it must have been done so by
a being with the intelligence to do so. Although we humans are intelligent, we cannot move planets,
so that leaves us with

Analysis Of Mabel s Strange Predicament
Mabel s Strange Predicament is a 1914 American comedy film starring Charles Chaplin,
famously known for being the first time Chaplin wears the tramp costume. The movie was token
place in a hotel lobby. A drunk man, the tramp, runs into Mabel and tries to engage in a
conversation. Mabel walks away and goes on a date with her lover. Once Mabel returns, she goes
to her room and plays with her dog. While leaving her room for a quick moment, the door closes
and she gets locked out in her pajamas. The trampcomes up the stairs and finds her. He tries to
grab her but she escapes. As she tries to hide, she enters the room next to hers and hides under
the bed. In the room is a man whose wife recently left to complain to the manager about Mabel.
Her lover comes and knocks on Mabel s door to visit but gets no response; he decides to wait for
her with his friend, Mabel s neighbor. Soon he discovers Mabel under the bed and assumes that
she is having an affair with the neighbor. The wife enters the room and assumes the same as the
lover. After fighting, Mabel is kicked out and finds the tramp again. The lover fights off the tramp
and realizes it was the drunken man s fault that Mabel was hiding under the bed. Mabel and her
lover reconcile while the older couple continue to fight. This film shows a great representation of
the timeperiod and what we learned because of how it demonstrated the views of women, black, and
drunkeness.

determines everyone s destined achievements, This guy? He ll run a marathon. She is going to
have the best swing in the state. She will totally win the city s open tournament. All of the
amatuer athletes respond with self doubt and confusion, Who me? Get out?! The self doubt
found in these athletes are commonly found in people who go face struggles when overcoming
an activity. It also explains that not everyone is born a winner. The frail and clumsy phase ends
with Oscar candidly claiming that, All of these athletes are terrible now, but they will all do big
things one day . This key quote signifies the theme of perseverance. Subsequently as the ad goes
on, the narrator s tone grows drastically more ecstatic. In these scenes we are exposed to athletes
who are performing in their athletic peak . At first we are given a swimmer who seems really
intrigued as he leads a race. Afterwards a soccer player confidently sweeps at a soccer ball with the

RenГ© Descartes Meditations Essay
RenГ© Descartes Meditations
RenГ© Descartes argument that he does not know his piece of wax through his senses is rather
straightforward. First, his sensory perceptions of the wax are its color, scent, sound, texture,
temperature and the like. However, these purported properties of the wax are not constant; if the
wax is brought close to a flame, its color, sound, texture and all the rest will change. Nevertheless,
Descartes claims, no one would deny that the object now by the fire is the same wax that was first
away from the fire. Descartes implies that it is evident and obvious that the wax, though its
appearance to the senses is wholly changed, is still the same wax. Let us grant this. Because the
wax is still the same wax even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Flexibility and mutability refer to the wax s ability to take on any of an indefinite number of shapes
indeed, an infinite number. We cannot know these properties of the wax through our imaginations
because our imagination is incapable of cataloguing all the possible shapes the wax may take. (The
imagination, remember, consists in discrete mental images of the wax with certain shapes.)
Likewise, with the property of extension we cannot imagine all of the sundry sizes and dimensions
of which the wax is capable of taking, but nevertheless we know that it has this same ability.
Because we cannot account fully for the three essential properties of the wax with our imagination
we conclude that we do not know the wax through our imagination.
The wax, so conceived, is merely a substance with the essential properties of being extended,
flexible, and mutable properties general enough that the wax can be taken to stand for a generic,
supposedly physical, objects. Descartes concludes that he knows the wax through an inspection of
the mind alone. To understand this reasoning, first note that by this point in the Meditations,
Descartes is operating under the understanding that, insofar as he knows, he is only a thinking
thing. Therefore, if we perceive, we do so with powers that are innate in us as a thinking thing.
These powers of thought are earlier enumerated to include the capacity to doubt, understand, affirm,
deny, will, refuse, sense, and imagine.

Analysis of Letter from Birmingham by Martin Luther King Jr.
Analysis of Letter from Birmingham by Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King Jr., is one of the most recognized, if not the greatest civil rights activist in this
century. He has written papers and given speeches on the civil rights movement, but one piece
stands out as one of his best writings. Letter from Birmingham was an intriguing letter written by
King in jail in the city of Birmingham, Alabama. He was responding to a letter written by eight
Alabama Clergyman that was published in a Birmingham Alabama newspaper in 1963 regarding
the demonstrations that were occurring to stop segregation. The intended audience for this letter
was of course the eight clergymen, but he also had a wider audience in mind because instead of ...

In the course of the letter, King uses philosophical, religious and historical examples to get his
points across. In the third paragraph he compares his participation in Birmingham to that of the
prophets of the eighth century and the Apostle Paul who also traveled to a foreign place to
communicate their messages. Since King is also a man of the cloth (reverend) he is able to use
these biblical characters in his letter to illustrate his knowledge of the bible and by justifying his
actions on their terms he is also able to show his intelligent. In the next few paragraphs he talks
about the demonstrations and the four steps in a nonviolent campaign which consist of collection
of the facts to determine whether injustices exist, negotiation, self purification and direct action. He
goes on to give the facts of the injustices occurring in Birmingham such as their record of brutality,
Negro s unjust treatments in the courts and the unsolved bombings of Negro homes and churches.
He tells them that the Negro leaders had indeed tried to negotiate in good faith but the white leaders
refused. In the next negotiations, promises were made so the leaders of the Alabama Christian
Movement for Human Rights agreed to postpone all demonstrations, but soon realized that they
were lied to. In paragraph 10, King foresees the questions that are

Four Starry Night Summary
In this article Four starry Nights by Anna Frebel, a German astronomer who is passionate about
discovering the oldest stars in the universe. Four Starry Nights from the authors account takes
place over four days. She travels from Boston to Las Campanas Observatory three times a year
to assist with unscrambling mysteries of the Milky Way. Each evening she stays at the
observatory cost more than $50,000, so each day of this trip should be planned out carefully
(Frebel, 2012). Anna s typical workday would last from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. As part of her
observation preparation, she would visit with the observatory staff to discuss new findings and
review what has taken place since her last visit. She stars by pulling out a list of dwarf galaxy
stars, ordered by priority. She chooses the first star and asks the operator to move the telescope
into position so that she can begin collecting starlight data. The article states that her research
primary focuses on stars in ultrafaint dwarf galaxies. This article goes onto discuss that after the
big bang, the first stars were formed from gaseous clouds. We know the big bang to be when the

this produces high absorption. When the opposite is true, the absorption is small (Frebel,

Summary Of The Devil s Arithmetic
In the book, The Devil s Arithmetic by Jane Yolen, at the extremity of chapter 11, Hannah starts
to have memory loss. I expect that it s exceptional for Hannah to know what is happening
because she can know what will happen next, she knows important events of history, and lastly,
she can support herself and her friends. With these factors. It s showing why knowing her what

I think that is important for Hannah to know what is happening so she will know important

Reaction Paper About Stress
Stress is how the brain and body respond to any change that requires an adjustment or response.
Throughout our lives we have been told by our friends and family that we need to minimize our
stress and manage it before it gets too out of hand. This leads to us looking at stress as a terrible
thing that will ruin our lives. Everyone is affected by stressand it is something that is a part of our
daily lives. The key thing to remember is that stress is not always a bad thing. It has been proven
that looking at stress as a good thing rather than a bad thing can actually make you stress less.
There are two main types of stress. Eustress, which is the good stress, and distress which is the bad
stress. Dealing with the eustress is what most people will think is relatively easy as you don t
have to do anything about it and don t have to get rid of it., it s the distress that people tend to
have issues controlling. Being stressed for a long period of time can lead to a number of different
problems such as anxiety. It is important to recognize that you are stressed, figure out exactly what
is stressing you out, and then act according to what your stressor is. In order to minimize or even
get rid of your stress and anxiety, you will need to know the symptoms, common stressors, and
when, where, and how to seek professional help.
Stress and anxiety is something that can be very hard to recognize in ourselves. People tend to deny
that they are stressed, or even just mistake the symptoms

Ten Commandments
For as long as we can remember there have been rules, a set of guidelines for basic human
behavior, and we follow them as if they are second nature. Where did these guidelines come from?
What are they based off of? How did they affect changes in societal behavior? In this essay I will
demonstrate values of previous societies and how they might have led to the creation of the Ten
Commandments or the creation of modern laws and regulations. Next, I will examine the Ten
Commandments and their place in western society today. Finally, I will show cases in which if a
commandment were created or deleted how it would affect such case.

I personally see adultery as abominable behavior. If one is so unhappy that they seek attention from
persons other than their partner, why don t they just leave? When a person commits adultery not
only are they cheating on their partner thus breaking the Seventh Commandment, they are also
hurting their partner in unimaginable ways, causing emotional and psychological effects that may
never be reversed. Fortunately, in America there are punishments for the adulterous party.
According to the Michigan judicial law adultery can be charged as a felony ( Michigan ). They
also state that when an unmarried man commits adultery with a married woman, the man is also
chargeable with a felony ( Michigan ). In social situations typically the person who commits
adultery is shunned from the group of friends. The shunning shows the societal view of adultery
which to me is that it is unacceptable. Dr. Wilson supports my idea that adultery corrupts ones
relationship and mind (Wilson). In the end, adultery isn t specifically covered in the United States

Feminine Absorption In Tom Brown s Schooldays
Feminine Absorption As the quintessential English public school identity formation experience
novel, Thomas Hughes s Tom Brown s Schooldays highlights the masculine identity with the Rugby
School experiences of bullying, sport, and compassion. As the roadmap for the English adolescent s
journey toward manhood, Hughes creates the formula to transcend from the adolescence into the
true manliness form. Hughes s character, Tom Brown, can only complete this ideal masculine
model by absorbing the compassionate, motherly female qualities instead of rejecting them. Tom s
journey toward his manhood starts by his departure from not only his home to private boarding
school, but also from the matriarch. Hughes describes their motherson relationship saying, Their
love was as fair and whole as human love can be, perfect self sacrifice on the side meeting a
young and true heart on the other (57). His connection to his mother did not sever when he does
go away to school. Even though it may seem that the relationship must sever, it truly cannot. It
must however transfer from the mother to her son. Tom manages to fill two sides of a sheet of
letter paper with assurances of his love for dear momma (58). Tom s motherly love must continue
for this feminine quality of love to transfer. When his letter is duly delayed due to a letter sealing
technicality, two boys tease him by calling him Young mammy sick! (58). It is here that Tom

The Merchant Of Venice By William Shakespeare
The play The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare is anti semetic because anti semetic
thoughts and actions are incorporated in a majority of his charcters. The actions of these Christian
charcters go against Shylock, and other Jews presented in the play; as a result, establishing a clear
seperation between the two ethnic groups. The constant hatred and mistreatment towards Shylock
only enhances the division since it develops the idea that Christianityis the superior religion.
Although there are many instances in which Shakespeare creates sympathy for Shylock rather hate,
Shakespeare s portrayal of him is what highlights the anti semitism in the play.
In the play, it appears to be clear that anti Semitic charcaters, such as Antonio and Salanio, exist to
highlight the mistreatment and power Christians have over the Jews. Many instances in which
dominance is expressed towards Jews , is towards Shylock. In the play Shylock states regarding
Antonio,
You call me disbeliever, cutthroat dog,
And spet upon my Jewish gaberdine,
And all for use of that which is mine own.
Well then, it now appears you need my help.

Descartes And The Fourth Meditation Essay
At the beginning of the fourth meditation Descartes has developed three main certainties: 1) God
exists. The understanding that God exists, comes from the intellect and not from the senses or
the imagination therefore God exists 2) God is not a deceiver because deceiving is a sign of
weakness or malice and because God is perfect he would not be allowed to do things of such evil
nature. And 3) if God created him, God is responsible for his judgment, and so his ability to
judge must be sound; so long as he uses it correctly. Yet, If God has given Descartes indubitable
judgment how is it Descartes makes an error from time to time? One possible answer is the fact
that we can not see what God s plans are, and so in the scheme of the entire universe our error
could be making everything perfect. A second and more in depth answer Descartes argues errors
are mistaken judgments. When looking at what a judgment is composed of, one finds it involves
two things, the intellect and the will. Both are faculties of the soul or self; whose existence is
proved in the second meditation. The Intellect is limited, through the intellect alone, [one] merely
perceives ideas about which [one] can render a judgment. Strictly speaking, no error is to be found
in the intellect when properly viewed in this manner. (56) There is no error because the intellect
does not make a judgment it simply takes in information. Descartes says error arises when the will
affirms or denies a judgment the intellect has

number of conflicting philosophies on how best to run the young nation. Most important of all was
determining the role and responsibilities of the federal government. Hamilton, a Federalist, was an
advocate of a strong national government controlled by the wealthy with the power to tax and

They had the ability to expand the national market like never before. In their publication, authors
Olson and Kenny inform that, Railroads not only became the country s first corporate giants but
also stimulated the coal, iron, and steel industries and linked the different regions of the country
into a single national market that provided new opportunities for manufacturers (The Industrial
Revolution: Key Themes and Documents). The increased popularity in railroading led to an
increase demand for resources needed in the expansion of the nation s railway system. A few
markets that benefited greatly from this demand were those supplying coal and steel. The heavy
demand for steel was caused by the need for railroad companies to forge more railway tracks, while
the increase demand in coal was used to fuel the locomotives once they were on the tracks.
Furthermore, the rise in popularity and expansion of the railway system allowed manufacturers to
reach a potential consumer base that would not be available to them otherwise. While discussing

Symbolism In The Color Purple
To most, the color purple holds insignificant meaning. It is a simple intermediate color lying
between red and blue, with very little significance other than to be someone s favorite color. In all
reality, the color holds so much more meaning. In the novel, The Color Purple, the color is used as
an allusion to biblical reference. Aside from the color itself, other references were made through
direct conversation with Godand the main characters struggle to maintain belief in a higher being
despite her life s troubles. The first reference we see to God is seen in the color purple. The color
itself represents the things in the world God created for man to enjoy; such as love. In the very
beginning of the novel, the main character does not seem to have much sense of anything let
alone the color purple. She goes through life trying to survive the cruel world she is put in,
instead of enjoying life itself. It was not until her many interactions with Shug Avery did she
realize that the color is just an example of the things that God created to give people pleasure.
The irony lies in the title itself, purple represents wealth and royalty while Celie is nothing close
to that. The irony is demonstrated by Celie s life; she is a poor black woman who has been raped
and dehumanized throughout her entire life yet, towards the end of the novel she finds peace and
is finally able to acknowledge the purple . In this novel, the simple color holds much more
meaning to Celie s life

molecules. Some bacteria have an enzyme called amylase which breaks starch down into glucose
subunits. The Starch Hydrolysis test is used to determine the production of amylase. Iodine, which
is the mordant used in Gram staining, is used in this test to detect the presence of starch. In order
to do the Starch Hydrolysis Test I first inoculated a starch plate by using aseptic technique. I
streaked the middle of the starch plate with the bacteria into a single line. Then, I let it incubate
overnight at 37В°C. In week 2, after I added several drops of Gram s iodine to the starch plate it
was ready to be analyzed for starch hydrolysis. The iodine complexes with starch to form a blue
black color in the culture. Clear halos surrounding colonies is the result of their ability to digest the
starch due to the presence of amylase. With the results of the Starch Hydrolysis Test I preceded to
the final test which is the Citrate Test. Using aseptic technique, I streaked the organism onto the
surface of the Simmons citrate slant and let it incubate overnight at 37В°C. The Citrate Test

Ethical Errors in Erin Brokovich
Erin Brokovich, based on a true story, is a story about an intriguing single mother named Erin
whose actions eventually lead to the biggest lawsuit against any corporation in history.
Struggling, the ball starts rolling for Erin when she gets into a car accident. Her lawyer thinks
she will win in a court case from her accident, but they lose. In compensation for the loss, Erin is
given a job at the law firm and begins to dig into a case against Pacific Gas and Electric when she
finds out they are trying to buy a resident of Hinkley, Californias home to cover up their depositing
of a danger chemical. After her research, she finds that many people in Hinkley have all had
medical issues related to this and that there is acknowledgement from... Show more content on

While they acknowledge that they are dumping a chemical into the tap water, they lie to the
residents of Hinkley by telling them that it is a different type of chromium, chromium III, that
isn t dangerous. Lying is the simplest and biggest ethical mistake there can be as it is always
intentional and causes harm to the other side who believes what is being said. Not only does
PG E lie about the type of chromium being dumped, they also try to cover it up through various
methods. First, they have paid the medical expenses of people in the town as a way to show that
they are doing their part to help, when really this is a small expense compared with what the
ethical dumping of chromium or an alternate form of chemical would consist of. Secondly, they
are bribing the people with large amounts of money to buy their homes and the land they are on,
which holds the dangerous chromium. Once again this is a cheaper way to hide their issue
compared to the cost of having to fix their practice or losing their company. They even try to give
out large amounts of money to stop the case when they know that one is being started against them.
The people of Hinkley have trouble seeing past this, because of the good that PG E does for the
community overall with jobs and their economy, etc. This is an issue with Utilitarianism ethics. It is
hard to see past what is good overall for the most majority of people and realize the negative effects
this overall good is having for some people.

Down with the Death Penalty
Introduction
Life is a precious thing. This is something that the majority of people can agree on. It s for this
reason that taking someone s life is one of the most if not the most disgraceful of crimes. Murder is
a crime deserving of the harshest punishment available at the hands of the criminal justice
system. This brings us to one of the most debated upon issues of today. Is taking the life of one
who has taken the life of others an acceptable punishment? When making your decision think
about this question; Is the life of the murderer worth any less than the victim s life? Is the death
penalty in any form morally justifiable in today s society? The underlying question would be is
any kind of killing acceptable, regardless of what the motive behind it is. I personally don t believe
that it is an acceptable punishment no matter what the crime. I see it as becoming somewhat like
the monsters that we strive to put behind bars.
Thesis
In regards to the death penalty, it is my belief that life without parole is better for several reasons.
I m against the death penalty not for the benefit of the criminals but because it doesn t reduce crime
rates, it lengthens the agony experienced by the families of the victims, costs considerably more
than life in prison, and, most importantly, risks the deaths of many innocent people. The death
penalty ends up being a more tedious process than sentencing someone to life

Eternal Life In C. S. Lewis The Great Divorce
The Great Divorce by C. S. Lewis uses a hypothetical situation to exemplify the choice everyone
must make between eternal life and eternal death. Both choices are available and the person has
the free will to choose. The narrative in the story is a personal experience of a ghost riding a bus
from Hell to Heaven. The story begins in a dark, gloomy place that resembles Purgatory or Hell. It
is not necessarily fire and brimstone, but it is obviously not a place where there is any
happiness. There are no relationships between the inhabitants and everyone moves as far away
from others as possible. People bicker and fight for no apparent reason. The Bible says that Hell is
eternal separation from God. The Hell in The Great Divorce represents this... Show more content on

C. S. Lewis discusses this topic by saying The choice of ways is before you . Everyone has the
choice to choose eternal life just like how everyone in Hell in The Great Divorce has the option
to ride the bus to Heaven. The only difference between the situations is that the characters in the
book must ride the bus to Heaven and choose to stay there. When the inhabitants of Hell reaches
the Gates of Heaven, they notice everything is solid and hard, while they are merely ghosts. This
shows how God s heavenly kingdom is stronger, denser, and more solid because it has been built
on a strong foundation, God himself. Hell and its residents are weak, airy, and hollow because
they are grounded in the earthly world, which provides no eternal substance. Because Heaven
and a relationship with God is obviously the preferable option, the previous residents of Hell should
stay in Heaven. This is much like how the unsaved people should happily accept God s gift of
salvation. However, the solid world in Heaven is hard to live in for a

Lighttpd Web Server
Introduction
Lighttpd web server is a free, open source web server software that distributed with the Free BSD

operating system. It is fast, reliable, secure and flexible and it consume lesser CPU power. Lighttpd
is also an asynchronous server that runs as single process with a single thread and non blocking
input or output (I/O). Asynchronous server give the advantage of web applications that written in

In other system, it will be expensive operation in RAM usage and CPU load if starting a new
process or threads. In Lighttpd, expensive operation in RAM usage and CPU load will not
happen since Lighttpd does not need to start a new process or thread on per user or per
connection basis. Therefore, it is really light in RAM usage and CPU load. Lighttpd also normally
use the I/O bound rather than the CPU bound. This means that Lighttpd always serve static files
by speed of disk device or network interface instead of CPU speed.
Disadvantages
There also some disadvantages of Lighttpd web server. Lighttpd web server s design has faced
some problem when it comes to the hardware with large number of CPU cores (CPUs). This is
because Lighttpd only uses several threads and it will not gain too much from increasing more
CPUs. However, Lighttpd is really light and never bound by lack of CPU power. There is also
one weakness of the Lighttpd server which is Lighttpd buffer output from CGI server process in
internal buffers. This will leads to less RAM memory consumption. It is a weak design that using
Lighttpd to send iso sized files which obtained as data stream from the CGI process. This issue
may limit the use of Lighttpd web server. However, this issue not really cause any big problem in

Traditional Times Vs Modern Times
The selective students came from Elective class (Drama) with diverse backgrounds and we were
brought together to perform Stations of the Cross , performance presenting the Traditional times
Vs Modern times to the school audience. The casting for the drama was open to participants to
select. The whole casting process itself was very challenging and fun. In the beginning, I found it
was necessary to engage the participant s focus on the process rather than the outcome and hence
specific requirements for the drama were not decided upfront. Each of us was given the
opportunity to select a station for the drama and to come up with scripts for both modern and
tradition times. We came up with the drama direction and communicated to the casts taking into
considering the feelings, artistic expressions and deep relationships including the stage set up
and color/costumes, etc. The challenges my group and I faced was towards the group dynamics
/culture, focus and drama management. Though we were guided by Ms. Moeser, there was no
leader appointed to run the show within the group. Clear objectives and task structure (clear
divisions of tasks) were not set in advance. Due to lack of drama management (as it was a mini
project), everybody was involved in everything and this lead to lack of coordination and distraction
from the goal that we wanted to achieve. This also lead to time loss, low output and concentration.
Participants would go away on their own tangent and involve

The Genocide Of Rwanda s Genocide
The Genocide in Rwanda
INTRODUCTION
Genocides happen when ethnic divisions become apparent. Many times, these ethnic divisions were
due to colonization from people of different race. These cases are especially true in Africa when
Europeans colonized their territory, with clear racial divisions between them (Gavin). These
genocides go on because of nations acting on ignorance and refusing to help out the nations in
turmoil, allowing the genocides to continue, without wasting their own resources. These nations
purposefully ignoring the slaughter of people cause the nations to also be guilty of the genocide
underway ( The Heart ). The genocide occurred in Rwanda in Central Africa during 1994. The
decades of Tutsi oppression of Hutus and the assassination of President Habyarimana in 1994 led to
the genocide in Rwanda.
CAUSES
Socio/Cultural Cause
The socio/cultural cause of the genocide in Rwanda came from the German and Belgian
colonization, bringing along with them an idea of social science. Both colonial powers reinforced
the Tutsi s political power, which further oppressed the Hutus. This reinforcement caused the Hutus
to envy the Tutsi s aristocracy because they were privileged to all things, while the Hutus were
privileged to nothing (Kapuscinski). This oppression led to many Hutu revolutions that the Hutus
were successful in over the unprepared Tutsis. These victories of the Tutsis incidentally reversed the
Rwandan apartheid system. The reversion of the system then gave

A Feminist Stance In Politics
A Feminist Stance in Politics in the Middle East During the first few weeks of my Women
Filmmakers in the Middle East class we watched two films and did a few readings to start the
semester. One of the readings was The Political Aesthetics of the Feminist Documentary Film by
Julia Lesage. This reading was informative and also had arguments about feminist documentaries
based in the Middle East that I really agreed with. The first film we watched was a documentary
called The Play the second documentary was called The Four Women of Egypt. Although the
women in the films are very different, they all have a very strong feminist perspective that have
assisted in making a difference in this world and to me. Pelin Esmer, the director of The Play
really emphasized that the women in this documentary were real in the sense that they had a low
level of education and had gone through some really hard times. Theses factors played such a
huge role in Esmer s political voice because they were displayed for the audience to become... Show

Lease says Because women s identity is shaped and sustained in a sphere where men are largely
absent, and because girls grow up in an emotional continuum with their mothers and the other
women in their intimate environments (unlike a boy s Oedipal development), their emotional ties
are deep to other women (231). I agree with this because in both films you are able to see the
women influencing each other. In The Play the men (except for the principal) are not really
involved and don t necessarily have a feminist opinion on female oppression. In The Four Women
of Egypt, there is no man that is being interviewed or shown talking about feminism. Lesage s
argument also makes sense to me because I was able to personally be inspired by these two

Great Man Theory Of Leadership
Introduction
For centuries leaders have been analyzed in order to determine what the traits and characteristics
of a successful leader are. Leadership, as defined by Koontz and Weihrich (2008) is the art or a
process of influencing people so that they will strive willingly and enthusiastically toward the
achievement of group goals (p. 311). Leadership plays an important role in employee s
participation, creativity, recruitment to an organization, their commitment to the organization, and
productivity levels. Over the years, there have been a number of theories surrounding leadership
such as the Great Man theory, which, according to Riaz and Haider (2010), assumes that leaders are
born and have innate qualities, therefore, leaders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These types of leaders, according to Avolio (1991) possess the characteristics of individual
consideration, intellectual stimulation, inspirational motivation, and idealized influence. This paper
will examine the outcomes that are a direct result of transformational leaders who exhibit these
types of traits such as job satisfaction and organizational commitment, job stress, safety, supervisor
satisfaction, team, performance, and general.
Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment Outcomes
According to Hyde (2008), Culture is determined by how people behave, and the only way to
change culture is to change behaviors (p. 6). A key aspect of changing behavior is enabling
(empowering) employees to make decisions and create change within their work scope. By giving
employees the power to make changes not only improves their morale, but also benefits the
company in which they work by increasing their productivity. According to Marshall, et. Al (2006),
Allowing employees to make decisions increases their job satisfaction and sense of responsibility
and translates into improvements in the quality and timeliness with which duties are performed,
freeing management for more significant matters (p. 39). By giving decision making authority to
followers, transformation leaders are using what Bass (1991) referred to as psychological
empowerment. In other words, empowerment influences follower outcomes.

Characteristics Of Mangroves Of Roatan And The Bay Island
ECOSYSTEMS CLASSIFICATION OF LIVING ZONES The area around Roatan and the Bay
Islands is considered to be a Tropical Humid Forest. This area of life is restricted to narrow
lowlands and covers coastal plains. The flora that integrates the vegetation of the area has
characteristics and morphological features which include trees, shrubs, and grasses; as well as
an evergreen, deciduous phenology. VEGETABLE ECOSYSTEMS Mangroves estuaries,
coastal lagoons, and Mangrove wetlands are found throughout Roatan and its surrounding
islands. In Utila, this type of ecosystem occupies 37% of the island s surface area. In Roatan, this
type of ecosystem occupies 7.2% of the islands surface area. In Guanaja figures for this type of
ecosystem drop to 6%. Utila Island, which is home to a significant portion of mangrove swamps,
has a large vegetal landscape and a high level of biodiversity. This gives Utila a strong
patrimonial value. THE CHACHALACA For example, this habitat represents a limited shelter
for the Chachalaca (a tree dwelling bird of the guan family Ortalis vetula deschauenseei) of Utila
Island. This bird subspecies is endemic to the mangroves of the island of Utila. The Chachalaca
was believed to be extinct in years past but is now protected and growing. THE GARROBO The

The Battle of Algiers and The Algerian Insurgency Essay
French Algeria is now called Algeria and won its independence from its colonial power, France.
The two political communities in French Algeria were the French citizens and the Algerian people.
The Algerian people were under French rule for over one hundred years from 1830 to 1962 when
they were given their independence and recognized by France. The events of November 1, 1954,
marked the birth of the National Liberation Front (FLN) (Cherian). The Muslim population is the
part of the population that felt isolated and they wanted more political autonomy. The Muslim
population formed a secessionist insurgencybecause they wanted to break away from the ruling

This was their targets for the start of the insurgency on November 1st.They would walk up shoot
the policeman in the head or shoot him in the chest and double tap in the head to insure that the
officer was killed. The FLN had to change tactics when the French military became involved
especially when they were on strike to gain UN approval for an Algerian nation free from France
but the French Army forced them to their jobs and work. They instituted a curfew and checkpoints
between the two parts of Algeria where the French citizen were and the Algerian people were
housed. They then instituted bombs after their homes were bombed and burned killing their family
members and children. The FLN then built purse bombs to attack the French civilians at local
areas such as a restaurant, airport, and dance club. They also started to attack the military when
threatened and hid weapons in the French occupied territory to attack the policemen. The French
civilians were also tired of friends and family getting killed so they started to attack Algerian
children whenever they saw them. The French citizens almost killed a young boy by trampling and
kicking him when he was on the ground until the police pulled the child to safety.
The Algerian insurgency used the strategy that Mao developed and perfected but every nation or
country has to tailor their strategy based on the cultural and ethnic traditions and background. The

  • 2. Paying Attention Pays Off for Andra Rush 1. As we have discussed, competency models describe the behaviors and skills managers need to exhibit if an organization is to be successful. Consider the general competencies found in Figure 7.3 and apply these to Andra Rush, providing examples of how these competencies apply. Competency models describe the behaviors and skills managers need to exhibit if an organization is to be successful (Hughes, Ginnett, Curphy, p. 252). In many organizations, competency models can differ between the different hierarchies of managers. As a person s leadership role evolves so do the behaviors and skills he or she must possess to be an effective leader. This statement holds firm as with the case of Andra Rush. Throughout the case study, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rush also showed adaptability which is the ability to confidently adapt and adjust to changes and challenges; and the ability to maintain a positive outlook and work constructively under pressure. She followed through with the idea of forming a trucking company by borrowing monies to purchase trucks, accepting every job offer, answering the phones, budgeting the books, and repairing the trucks. This is also evident by the fact Rush can lead a large trucking company, but also community organizations. Both have different leadership styles which she has to properly adjust to. Another competency displayed by Rush is customer focus which is maintaining a clear focus on customer needs and demonstrating a strong desire to provide exemplary customer service; and actively seeks ways to increase customer satisfaction. With the formation of the company, Rush accepted every shipping job, even if she had to drive the trucks herself. She pays attention and exceeds customer s expectations regardless of circumstances. Such as the case of when local bridges were shutdown during September 11th attacks, Rush made a crucial shipment by renting a barge. 2. How does the Leadership Pipeline apply to Andra Rush? The Leadership Pipeline is a useful model for explaining where leaders need to spend their time, what they should be focusing on, what they should be letting go, and the ... • 3. Girls And Girls By Alice Munro Throughout the course of time, roles in our society towards gender has evolved. In the story Boys and Girls by Alice Munro relatively has a direct message which is the constant battle of gender stereotypes. The audience is reading through the point of view of the main character, which is a girl, and her frustration she feels. Through the young girls experience, Alice Munro is able to show the readers the role of stereotypes or expectations that a femalehas to fulfill. The main character s mother believes that the girl is best fit in the kitchen aiding her because she is a female. When her mother comes in the barn, she tell her father and then I can use her more in the house and goes on to say I just get my back turned and she runs off. It s not like I had a girl in the family at all (Munro 143). Her mother makes this statement because she is frustrated by her daughter actions. She wants her daughter to act similar to a girl and help her in the kitchen instead of doing male work. From the secondary source entitled Penning in the Bodies: The Construction of Gendered Subjects in Alice Munro s Boys and Girls by Marlene Goldman she explains the mother behavior in detailed in this part of the story. Similarly, her mother s behaviour is interpreted, not as an expression of frustration and disappointment, or loneliness, but as a manifestation of innate wickedness and petty tyranny (Goldman). Goldman explains that the mother tactics that are used of getting her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Formation Of A Corporation Abstract The formation of a business is generally influenced by motive or strategy that best suits the business owners. There are four types of business entities that exist and each having different tax implications. These entities include sole proprietorships, C Corporations (C Corps), S Corporations (S Corps), and Partnerships. This paper will focus on the advantages and disadvantages of C Corporations and S Corps and deciding which one makes more sense than the other. Formation of a Corporation A corporation is formed under the laws of the state in which the corporation is registered (SBA.gov). Corporations can either be a C Corp or an S Corp; in which both have owner shareholders. Forming a corporation requires establishing and registering your business with your state government and filing documents named Articles of Incorporation. These documents are filed with your Secretary of State in order to provide information to the state about your business and are also made available to the public (SBA.gov). Generally, corporations provide limited liability for all owners (Sumutka, 2009). A C Corporations is an independent legal entity that is owned by one or more shareholders and governed by subchapter C of the Internal Revenue Code. C Corps, not shareholders, are held liable for any actions or debt incurred (SBA.gov). Shareholders exchange money, property or both for stock in the C Corp. • 5. Infantry March Research Paper B.H. Roberts quotes Lieutenant Colonel P. St. George Cooke: The Lieutenant Colonel commanding congratulates the Battalion on their safe arrival on the shores of the Pacific ocean, and the conclusion of their march of over two thousand miles. History will be searched in vain for an equal march of infantry. 1 Roberts goes on to say that the only other historical marches that are comparable with the Mormon Battalions march are Xenophon s and Doniphan s, the former in ancient, the latter in modern times. 2 The United Stateswas at war with Mexico, and president James K. Polk requested five hundred Mormon men to help in the war effort. After much discussion, Mormon leaders, including Brigham Young, agreed the Saints would benefit from accepting the call. Some of these benefits included such things as military pay, the arms, which the volunteers could keep, a monetary allotment for uniforms, and government funded transportation west. This seemed to be an answer to their prayers. What can arguably be considered the longest infantry march in history officially began July 2o, 1846 on the Little Pony River in Council Bluffs, Iowa.... • 6. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is an accumulation of marine debris in the North Pacific Ocean. Marine debris is trash that culminates up in oceans, seas, and other sizable voluminous bodies of dihydrogen monoxide. Its also known as the Eastern Pacific Garbage Patch and the Pacific Trash Vortex. It s located in a high pressure area between the U.S. states of Hawaii and California. This area is in the middle of the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre. For many people, the conception of a garbage patch displays images of an island of trash floating on the ocean. In reality, these patches are conventionally composed of tiny bits of plastic, called microplastics. Microplastics that make up the majority of garbage patches can t always be visible.... In the article, The World s Largest Dump: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, it mentioned that the UNEP indicates that today 80% of all marine debris that washes ashore such as trash and toxic matter originally comes from shore based activities such as fun parties at the beaches and picnics. For example the cups that gets blown off the beach in San fransicso then it finds its way to the patch. The inland, rivers and streams carry trash to the sea. Marah Hardt who is fellow from the Blue Ocean Institute, mentions that a lot of people are not aware of the negtive impacts they have on the ocean because they can t see it. They think its far out there while their waste, garbage disposals, drainpipes, and sewers lead directly to the ocean. Factories dump and Air pollution seeps are just examples of how the oceans become pulleted. There is another example of garbage patch that actually exist for example Western Garbage Patch whish is located on the off coast of Japan. Shannon Research Assignment: High Fructose Corn Syrup BEWARE: HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP As Americans we are certainly used to opening our kitchen cabinets and having it be filled with endless food choices. To say the least, we are certainly blessed as a country to be able to have a wide variety. Although the choices are endless, unlike other countries, we are unsure of the additives that are being put into our foods. One specific food additive that is constantly seen in our labels is High Fructose Corn Syrup. High Fructose Corn Syrup can be defined as a cheap sweetener that is made from corn starch in which it is processed by glucose isomerase. This specific additive is currently apart of the top eleven most controversial food additives. High Fructose Corn Syrup, is being blamed for the obesity epidemic in the United States of America. I am here to prove through research and personal findings, that this is an additive that we most avoid. But when it comes to sodas and desserts sweetened with high fructose corn syrup, she believes in abstinence, not moderation (King). High fructose Corn Syrup has become a growing issue in the United States of America. This is seen through many statistics, one being the fact that we are the number one country for this usage. • 8. Sex And Gender Are Not Equal Sex and gender are not equal contrary to common assumption. Sex, as defined by Rosman, is the physical differences between male and female [based on] biological and anatomical composition of genitals and secondary sexual characteristics (141). On the other hand, gender is defined as the culture specific set of behavioral, ideological, and social meanings constructed around the understandings of these biological and anatomical differences (142). So what does this mean? Indeed, the assumption of sexequating to genderis not necessarily true because gender is culturally constructed. Different societies often have different perceptions of what gender is: for instance North American heteronormative culture in comparison with the gender relationships of people in Wogeo (minimal differences between men and women) or of the people in Samoa specifically focusing on the fa afafine. The film, Paradise Bent, directed by Heather Croall explores part of the world of fa afafines. The fa afafine of Samoa are their own gender defying the gender binaries of strictly male or female. The word itself means in the manner of a woman and according to the film, fa afafines are men playing women s roles yet they are largely accepted by their communities. Mothers of fa afafines value and love their fa afafine son and appreciate their help around the house. First heard in nightclubs for many minority groups including Italians, Latinos, blacks, gays, and hippies, it was embraced by women, as well as men, and many female entertainers came into fame because of disco music. It must be noted as well that there are gender differences when it comes to communication, when a couple is able to realize that men and women process and respond differently to incoming messages there are less expectations in conflict for a partner to respond in a certain way. Children in Hospice Children in Hospice Katrina Williams RES/110 April 26, 2012 Professor James Lazos Children in Hospice Research suggests that every year there are between 100,000 to 150,000 children born in the United States with a genetic disorder or defect. This represents approximately 20% of infant deaths each year. However, many of these children live to age well beyond the expectation, and some are enrolled in hospice. According to Armstrong Daily and Zarbock (2001), The concept of hospice today is applied to patients who are traveling through the final stages of their lives in effect seeking shelter and comfort. Even when hospitalized, parents must be prepared to fight for the right of their child to live because many medical professionals give the impression that any effort would be useless. Many parents are even willing to care for the child within the home but there are no resources available to assist with care other than nursing. This should be a key area for concern as the patient is expected to live six months in most cases and it is more than enough time to prepare for the child s death. When that time has passed and the child is still progressing, one is only left to wonder the next step. At this point, time spent creating memories with family should be top priority. It is my recommendation that the health care community implement a network of resources for parents who are not willing to accept and grieve but are willing to accept and fight to prolong the life of their child. Resources and information should be readily available to assist with any type of services that would bring relief for situations ranging from housing to therapy. Medical professionals also should be required to take a course in patient relations giving some insight into the emotional turmoil that many parents experience. This probably would change some parent s perception of the medical profession because discretion and empathy would be used when providing information about the child s condition. A private investigator in a futuristic world where animals can talk, and babies are robots. In Gun, with Occasional Music by Jonathan Lethem, Conrad Metcalf, an ill mannered private investigator, attempts to reveal the truth in the murder an old client. It may be a lot to take in, but by the end of this review, you ll see how unorthodox but strangely fascinating this book really is. In my point of view, this hard boiled novel is a stereotypical agent gone rogue type of circumstance, I also believe it contains mostly analogies. And finally, the fist fights, karma points, and various drugs make the book even more interesting. Despite the fact he is the main character, Metcalf sure has something about him that rubs people the wrong way. Due to the fact he s going against the system more often than not, he gets caught in a scuffle between other inquisitors that work at his office. That s because of Orton Angwine, the number one suspect in the Maynard Stanhunt murder. Orton hires Metcalf to do some digging and prove he s innocent. At first he wasn t interested, but once he finds out there s a lot behind the story than he thought, he persists. Because of his forbidden involvement, Metcalf gets in a variety of fights. And after each punch in the gut, he keeps on his journey to expose the truth. If this book were a movie, I could imagine a smoky bar. A man sitting in the corner, with a cigar, fedora and a trench coat, or even a jazz band playing in the background. This book can definitely give you that kind of vibe. And you might even get lost in that type of setting. If you read this book and find it interesting, it ll be really difficult to put it down. Even when Conrad Metcalf starts to open up about his feelings, especially about Delia. Delia Limetree. She is only referenced once in the whole book, but she definitely strung up a few questions for me. Delia Limetree is a girl who Metcalf dated, or married, who left him. • 19. St. Thomas Aquinas Cosmological Argument Catholic Church: St. Thomas Aquinas (Cosmological Argument) In St. Thomas Aquinas s cosmological argument claims the following that the universe exist and its very existence has a cause and that cause is God. In his unfinished book Summa Theologiae, Aquinas put forward five ways for the existence of God. His first way is the argument from motion and by studying the works of Aristotle, the Greek Philosopher, he concluded from common observation that the planets, rolling stone or any object that is in motion is put in motion by other forces or object. From this theory, Aquinas believes there must have been an unmoved mover which is God who sets things in motion. It is certain and evident that in the world some things are set in motion. Whatever is in motion is put in motion by another. Therefore, by which it is put in motion must also be put in motion by another and by another again but this cannot go for infinity because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The final way that St. Thomas Aquinas speaks of has to do with the universe and the order of nature. Aquinas states that common sense tells us that the universe works in such a way, that one can conclude that it was designed by an intelligent designer. In other words, all physical laws and the order of nature and life were designed and ordered by God. Because whatever lacks in intelligence cannot move towards an end, unless it be directed by some being with knowledge and intelligence. Some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end, and this being we call God. This argument by Aquinas is suggesting that inanimate objects such as the planets could not have placed themselves into the orbits they have, because they lack the intelligence to do so. Yet they are aligned so perfectly, this must mean it must have been done so by a being with the intelligence to do so. First, his sensory perceptions of the wax are its color, scent, sound, texture, temperature and the like. However, these purported properties of the wax are not constant; if the wax is brought close to a flame, its color, sound, texture and all the rest will change. Nevertheless, Descartes claims, no one would deny that the object now by the fire is the same wax that was first away from the fire. Descartes implies that it is evident and obvious that the wax, though its appearance to the senses is wholly changed, is still the same wax. Let us grant this. Because the wax is still the same wax even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Flexibility and mutability refer to the wax s ability to take on any of an indefinite number of shapes indeed, an infinite number. We cannot know these properties of the wax through our imaginations because our imagination is incapable of cataloguing all the possible shapes the wax may take. (The imagination, remember, consists in discrete mental images of the wax with certain shapes.) Likewise, with the property of extension we cannot imagine all of the sundry sizes and dimensions of which the wax is capable of taking, but nevertheless we know that it has this same ability. Because we cannot account fully for the three essential properties of the wax with our imagination we conclude that we do not know the wax through our imagination. The wax, so conceived, is merely a substance with the essential properties of being extended, flexible, and mutable properties general enough that the wax can be taken to stand for a generic, supposedly physical, objects. Descartes concludes that he knows the wax through an inspection of the mind alone. To understand this reasoning, first note that by this point in the Meditations, Descartes is operating under the understanding that, insofar as he knows, he is only a thinking thing. Therefore, if we perceive, we do so with powers that are innate in us as a thinking thing. These powers of thought are earlier enumerated to include the capacity to doubt, understand, affirm, deny, will, refuse, sense, and imagine. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Merchant Of Venice By William Shakespeare The play The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare is anti semetic because anti semetic thoughts and actions are incorporated in a majority of his charcters. The actions of these Christian charcters go against Shylock, and other Jews presented in the play; as a result, establishing a clear seperation between the two ethnic groups. The constant hatred and mistreatment towards Shylock only enhances the division since it develops the idea that Christianityis the superior religion. Although there are many instances in which Shakespeare creates sympathy for Shylock rather hate, Shakespeare s portrayal of him is what highlights the anti semitism in the play. In the play, it appears to be clear that anti Semitic charcaters, such as Antonio and Salanio, exist to highlight the mistreatment and power Christians have over the Jews. Many instances in which dominance is expressed towards Jews , is towards Shylock. In the play Shylock states regarding Antonio, You call me disbeliever, cutthroat dog, And spet upon my Jewish gaberdine, And all for use of that which is mine own. • 35. Descartes And The Fourth Meditation Essay At the beginning of the fourth meditation Descartes has developed three main certainties: 1) God exists. The understanding that God exists, comes from the intellect and not from the senses or the imagination therefore God exists 2) God is not a deceiver because deceiving is a sign of weakness or malice and because God is perfect he would not be allowed to do things of such evil nature. And 3) if God created him, God is responsible for his judgment, and so his ability to judge must be sound; so long as he uses it correctly. Yet, If God has given Descartes indubitable judgment how is it Descartes makes an error from time to time? One possible answer is the fact that we can not see what God s plans are, and so in the scheme of the entire universe our error could be making everything perfect. A second and more in depth answer Descartes argues errors are mistaken judgments. When looking at what a judgment is composed of, one finds it involves two things, the intellect and the will. Both are faculties of the soul or self; whose existence is proved in the second meditation. The Intellect is limited, through the intellect alone, [one] merely perceives ideas about which [one] can render a judgment. Strictly speaking, no error is to be found in the intellect when properly viewed in this manner. (56) There is no error because the intellect does not make a judgment it simply takes in information. Descartes says error arises when the will affirms or denies a judgment the intellect has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a simple intermediate color lying between red and blue, with very little significance other than to be someone s favorite color. In all reality, the color holds so much more meaning. In the novel, The Color Purple, the color is used as an allusion to biblical reference. Aside from the color itself, other references were made through direct conversation with Godand the main characters struggle to maintain belief in a higher being despite her life s troubles. The first reference we see to God is seen in the color purple. The color itself represents the things in the world God created for man to enjoy; such as love. In the very beginning of the novel, the main character does not seem to have much sense of anything let alone the color purple. She goes through life trying to survive the cruel world she is put in, instead of enjoying life itself. It was not until her many interactions with Shug Avery did she realize that the color is just an example of the things that God created to give people pleasure. The irony lies in the title itself, purple represents wealth and royalty while Celie is nothing close to that. The irony is demonstrated by Celie s life; she is a poor black woman who has been raped and dehumanized throughout her entire life yet, towards the end of the novel she finds peace and is finally able to acknowledge the purple . Starch is a polysaccharide made up of glucose molecules. Some bacteria have an enzyme called amylase which breaks starch down into glucose subunits. The Starch Hydrolysis test is used to determine the production of amylase. Iodine, which is the mordant used in Gram staining, is used in this test to detect the presence of starch. In order to do the Starch Hydrolysis Test I first inoculated a starch plate by using aseptic technique. I streaked the middle of the starch plate with the bacteria into a single line. This is something that the majority of people can agree on. It s for this reason that taking someone s life is one of the most if not the most disgraceful of crimes. Murder is a crime deserving of the harshest punishment available at the hands of the criminal justice system. This brings us to one of the most debated upon issues of today. Is taking the life of one who has taken the life of others an acceptable punishment? When making your decision think about this question; Is the life of the murderer worth any less than the victim s life? Is the death penalty in any form morally justifiable in today s society? The underlying question would be is any kind of killing acceptable, regardless of what the motive behind it is. I personally don t believe that it is an acceptable punishment no matter what the crime. I see it as becoming somewhat like the monsters that we strive to put behind bars. Thesis In regards to the death penalty, it is my belief that life without parole is better for several reasons. I m against the death penalty not for the benefit of the criminals but because it doesn t reduce crime rates, it lengthens the agony experienced by the families of the victims, costs considerably more than life in prison, and, most importantly, risks the deaths of many innocent people. When the inhabitants of Hell reaches the Gates of Heaven, they notice everything is solid and hard, while they are merely ghosts. This shows how God s heavenly kingdom is stronger, denser, and more solid because it has been built on a strong foundation, God himself. Hell and its residents are weak, airy, and hollow because they are grounded in the earthly world, which provides no eternal substance. • 50. The Genocide Of Rwanda s Genocide The Genocide in Rwanda INTRODUCTION Genocides happen when ethnic divisions become apparent. Many times, these ethnic divisions were due to colonization from people of different race. These cases are especially true in Africa when Europeans colonized their territory, with clear racial divisions between them (Gavin). These genocides go on because of nations acting on ignorance and refusing to help out the nations in turmoil, allowing the genocides to continue, without wasting their own resources. These nations purposefully ignoring the slaughter of people cause the nations to also be guilty of the genocide underway ( The Heart ). The genocide occurred in Rwanda in Central Africa during 1994. The decades of Tutsi oppression of Hutus and the assassination of President Habyarimana in 1994 led to the genocide in Rwanda. CAUSES Socio/Cultural Cause The socio/cultural cause of the genocide in Rwanda came from the German and Belgian colonization, bringing along with them an idea of social science. Both colonial powers reinforced the Tutsi s political power, which further oppressed the Hutus. This reinforcement caused the Hutus to envy the Tutsi s aristocracy because they were privileged to all things, while the Hutus were privileged to nothing (Kapuscinski). This paper will examine the outcomes that are a direct result of transformational leaders who exhibit these types of traits such as job satisfaction and organizational commitment, job stress, safety, supervisor satisfaction, team, performance, and general. Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment Outcomes According to Hyde (2008), Culture is determined by how people behave, and the only way to change culture is to change behaviors (p. 6). A key aspect of changing behavior is enabling (empowering) employees to make decisions and create change within their work scope. Al (2006), Allowing employees to make decisions increases their job satisfaction and sense of responsibility and translates into improvements in the quality and timeliness with which duties are performed, freeing management for more significant matters (p. 39). By giving decision making authority to followers, transformation leaders are using what Bass (1991) referred to as psychological empowerment. In other words, empowerment influences follower outcomes. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The French civilians were also tired of friends and family getting killed so they started to attack Algerian children whenever they saw them. The French citizens almost killed a young boy by trampling and kicking him when he was on the ground until the police pulled the child to safety.
