Symbolism In The Color Purple
To most, the color purple holds insignificant meaning. It is a simple intermediate color lying
between red and blue, with very little significance other than to be someone s favorite color. In all
reality, the color holds so much more meaning. In the novel, The Color Purple, the color is used as
an allusion to biblical reference. Aside from the color itself, other references were made through
direct conversation with Godand the main characters struggle to maintain belief in a higher being

Introduction
Life is a precious thing. This is something that the majority of people can agree on. It s for this
reason that taking someone s life is one of the most if not the most disgraceful of crimes. Murder is
a crime deserving of the harshest punishment available at the hands of the criminal justice
system. This brings us to one of the most debated upon issues of today. Is taking the life of one
who has taken the life of others an acceptable punishment? When making your decision think
about this question; Is the life of the murderer worth any less than the victim s life? Is the death
penalty in any form morally justifiable in today s society? The underlying question would be is
any kind of killing acceptable, regardless of what the motive behind it is. I personally don t believe
that it is an acceptable punishment no matter what the crime. I see it as becoming somewhat like
the monsters that we strive to put behind bars.
Thesis
In regards to the death penalty, it is my belief that life without parole is better for several reasons.
I m against the death penalty not for the benefit of the criminals but because it doesn t reduce crime
rates, it lengthens the agony experienced by the families of the victims, costs considerably more
than life in prison, and, most importantly, risks the deaths of many innocent people. The death

The selective students came from Elective class (Drama) with diverse backgrounds and we were
brought together to perform Stations of the Cross , performance presenting the Traditional times
Vs Modern times to the school audience. The casting for the drama was open to participants to
select. The whole casting process itself was very challenging and fun. In the beginning, I found it
was necessary to engage the participant s focus on the process rather than the outcome and hence
specific requirements for the drama were not decided upfront. Each of us was given the

The Battle of Algiers and The Algerian Insurgency Essay
French Algeria is now called Algeria and won its independence from its colonial power, France.
The two political communities in French Algeria were the French citizens and the Algerian people.
The Algerian people were under French rule for over one hundred years from 1830 to 1962 when
they were given their independence and recognized by France. The events of November 1, 1954,
marked the birth of the National Liberation Front (FLN) (Cherian). The Muslim population is the
part of the population that felt isolated and they wanted more political autonomy. The Muslim
population formed a secessionist insurgencybecause they wanted to break away from the ruling
party to create their own country or nation away from French occupation and control.... Show more
This was their targets for the start of the insurgency on November 1st.They would walk up shoot
the policeman in the head or shoot him in the chest and double tap in the head to insure that the
officer was killed. The FLN had to change tactics when the French military became involved
especially when they were on strike to gain UN approval for an Algerian nation free from France
but the French Army forced them to their jobs and work. They instituted a curfew and checkpoints
between the two parts of Algeria where the French citizen were and the Algerian people were
housed. They then instituted bombs after their homes were bombed and burned killing their family
members and children. The FLN then built purse bombs to attack the French civilians at local
areas such as a restaurant, airport, and dance club. They also started to attack the military when
threatened and hid weapons in the French occupied territory to attack the policemen. The French
civilians were also tired of friends and family getting killed so they started to attack Algerian
children whenever they saw them. The French citizens almost killed a young boy by trampling and
kicking him when he was on the ground until the police pulled the child to safety.
The Algerian insurgency used the strategy that Mao developed and perfected but every nation or
country has to tailor their strategy based on the cultural and ethnic traditions and background. The
